Tanked
Her hand clenched around the sword. Diana’s anxiety grew as they neared Stuttgart. It has been so long, and she does not know what to expect from the mysterious God. But she knew what the mission is. Rescue Barton. If there is definite goal, it is going to be fine. Get him back, get out of the place. As simple as that. It should be Diana thought. “There. We can see him” Natasha’s voice pulled…

“Tara…run as fast as you can,” said her mother. “I…I love you, mom,” said Tara. “Always have the courage and be kind, my girl.” The last words of her mother echoed a mere whisper. Tears poured down from Tara’s eyes. Diana woke up from her sleep drenched in sweat. The memories kept coming back to her, becoming too hard to handle. Despite coming out from SHIELD, having a normal life didn’t help her as much as she thought it would. When the battle of New York drags her back to the field, she couldn’t help but stay back as her reason for the existence and purpose of her birth unravels itself. Not to leave, a certain Blonde from whom she couldn’t stay away. Check out the story of Diana winters aka Blaze: The Masked Avenger in my blog. The Meeting
The early morning breeze was cool and soothing against their bodies. Steve followed Diana closely to the jet. Coulson came down from the jet with a tight smile and extended his hand to Diana in greetings. ‘Agent Coulson’ ‘Agent Winters’ ‘Agent Winters, are you from Tennessee?’ Steve looked between Coulson and Diana in confusion. Both had a grim face, but Steve was flabbergasted at the sudden…

Banter
Tony left the ground along with Barton. Diana soon followed Stark in the air. Her fire glazing more and more as the height increased. Diana felt the energy build-up through her and the pumping of adrenaline refreshed her making her love flying above.
As soon as she was on the air, a chain of Chituari turned towards her,' Can't enjoy the breeze' Diana muttered before attacking them.
'How's the change of place, furnace?' Tony's voice came in through her earpiece making her roll the eyes in annoyance.
'Well it was nice until you started talking' Diana  gritted her teeth as one of the flying monkeys didn't budge at Diana's hit. She threw an uppercut at the soldier making him fall out of his vehicle. Diana blasted a ball of fire, just in time so that his ashes scattered in the air.
'It hurts. Many people LOVE my voice' Tony said mockingly.
'As If I care” Diana grunted as she killed a flying Chituari.
”It seems you are free, why don't I bring your kith and kin to you for a little chat' Diana turned and flew towards Tony's location once bringing the Chitauri tailing at her tail.
Before Tony could register her words, he saw Diana turn the corner with Chitauri soldiers behind her.
'Shit! FYI, I don't look like them' Tony yapped when Diana disappeared suddenly leaving the soldiers at Tony's tail.
'Stark. You got a lot of strings sticking to your tail.' Barton asserted looking up.
'That's her fault. Just try and keep them off the streets.' Tony muttered with annoyance.
'Who? Well, they can't bank worth a damn. Find a tight corner.' Barton said taking an arrow and ready to trigger it.
'Come on, Stark. You seemed lonely' Diana teased taking down more aliens.
“Focus” Steve’s voice came through as he shook his head down in disbelief.

Blaze
'Hit hard, Diana. Faster!' Barton yelled at her. She took deep breaths and snapped, 'Could you give me a sec'. Barton nodded with a grim expression. He wondered why Nick Fury wanted to train her and push her limits. In his eyes, she looked like a normal girl but for some unknown reason he took her in. SHIELD is a place for people who are special and different. Barton wanted to know what's special about her.
'If you can't do this simple thing then you won't come back alive from a mission' Barton rebuked. Diana glared at the elder agent but remained down. One thing he knew about her is that she is a determined one and not to mention a rebel. He had been rude to her from the beginning and she disobeyed every small thing he instructs but remembered every single detail of it. So he decided to strike her ego.
'I apologise, I should have known. You are a small girl, you could not do more than this" Barton sympathized. Something stirred up in Diana's chest. Barton could sense that he had achieved.
Diana went rigid and  remained silent. Barton continued,' We could take a break. Go and take rest.'
'No, I am not going to take rest. Let's do training" Diana declared. She went and stood in front of the punching bag. With a great force, she started punching it. Diana concentrated in hitting the bag much harder than the former punch. She could see that her trainer stood on the other side of the bag watching her moves. She started losing control and she could feel the punch getting intense. She could feel the heat radiating from her body.
'Stop! a voice shouted. It sounded distant. A hand shook her body bringing her back to reality. She  gazed at shocked Barton.' What are you?' Diana was confused at Barton's words. His face showed several emotions. She followed his eyes and turned only to find her body surrounded by a blue flame.

One more surprise
Steve and Diana left the room. Diana walked towards her room.
'I'm sorry' Steve said stopping Diana in her steps. She looked at Steve blankly.
'For Coulson' Steve replied clearing Diana's confusion. Diana inhaled sharply at the mention of Coulson.
'I was afraid to admit the truth. He was right. He should have waited. But he is too stubborn to give up, you know?' Diana said smiling wistfully. Steve gently rubbed his thumb over Diana's cheeks. His finger tracing the lone tear that escaped Diana’s eyes.
For a second, Steve saw the vulnerability in Diana's eyes. All the hurt, pain and weakness that she kept inside her flashed before him. Beneath all that he saw  a strong woman who fought every misery in her life bravely.
Diana turned sharply, her back facing Steve. She couldn't believe she let her walls down for a second. She doesn't like to be pitied by anyone, or talk about her feelings, not even Martha. But she couldn’t stop herself when it came to Steve.
'Aren't you already suited up?' Steve asked softly. She was still in her old SHIELD uniform.
'Well, I have one more surprise to give' Diana smirked before pushing open the door towards her suit.

Spitfire
Spitfire
Became her name
Whenever she was blamed.
Like a ticking bomb
Ready to explode
Never taking the high road.
With ease,
She burned her peace
And stuck inside a cage
Blinded by rage
Only to be pushed
As damage.
She slumped
Against the grey walls
With senses numbed
She became a scarred doll
Amidst all, by digging
Her own pitfall.

Can’t say no
Her voice was low holding a warning. Something stirred up inside him at Diana's tone. A smug smile made its way to his lips knowing that she had her on edge. Their eyes locked for a moment. Soon Clint's voice broke their heated gazes, 'Captain, the bank on 42ndpast MADISON, they caught a lot of civilians there.'
Diana cleared her throat
'I'm on it' Steve answered keeping his eyes on Diana.
'I'm coming with you' Diana stated and walked past him before the awkwardness between them could increase.
Diana flew in to see citizens huddled in a corner. Panic and uncertainty evident in their eyes. They all backed, thinking Diana as a intruder. The fire around her subdued, somewhat easing the citizen.' I'm here to help' Diana said softly scanning the room. Two soldiers commenced  holding the guns. Before she could draw her sword, Steve jumped through the window, throwing his shield at them. The two chitauri soldiers aimed their rifles, but Steve headed for cover under a desk and  he kicked the table towards them. Diana focused on sending the crowd to a safer place. One soldier moved towards her with the gun. Diana hit him in the gut and flipped him.
Steve jumped over the desk, head locking a soldier while backhanding another one over the railing. Diana shouted, 'Move' and advanced to help Steve.  The crowd moved at Diana's orders. Diana deadlocked the soldier who sneaked behind Steve and flipped him down.
Diana shouted,'' Everyone! Clear out!;' hearing the sound of ticking bomb.
Steve flipped off the soldier and grabbed his Shield but it exploded sending Steve out of the window. He landed harshly on the hood of the car. Smoke cleared revealing the blue force field. Diana stood from her stance, the force field vanishing slowly and jumped through the window giving a perfect landing near the car.
' Are you alright?' Diana questioned playfully.
'You're enjoying this' Steve groaned before rolling down from the car.
'Can't say, no' Diana agreed with a smile. Steve moved forward muttering incoherent words leaving behind a chuckling Diana.

Smile Suits you
Steve followed Diana closely to the jet. As they entered, a man in suit extended his hand to Diana.
'Agent Coulson'
'Agent Winters'
'Agent Winters, are you from Tennessee?' Coulson asked out of the blue. Steve looked between Coulson and Diana in confusion. Both had a grim face but Steve could sense something but he couldn't pinpoint it correctly.
'No. Why do you ask?' Diana replied tartly.
'Because Diana you're the only ten I see' Coulson said with a straight face. Steve looked horrified and glanced at Diana who seemed struggling to control her smile. Soon Diana burst into a fit of laughter.
'Caught ya!' Coulson chirped yearning a slight punch from Diana.
'That one's lame, Phil' Diana deadpanned before cracking up again. Steve looked surprised and observed both of them quietly who were acting like teenagers.
'Oh Really? Then give me a better one' Coulson dared playfully.
'You owe me a drink. Because when I looked at you, I dropped mine!' Diana raised her hands,' That's all I got now.'
Coulson chuckled and embraced her in a bear hug, 'Missed you, Child'. ”I know” Diana replied back. Steve watched the whole scene unfold with a light smile. Coulson saw Steve standing there with a smile and apologized for ignoring him.
'It's a tradition' Diana reasoned with Steve as they walked further towards the seats.
'You looked intimidating back there in the gym but now..' Steve stopped gesturing to the incident happened now.
'People say that to me' Diana chuckled,' a lot'.
'Do people also say that smile suits you more?' Steve asked, giving her his most genuine smile. Steve could see a smile threatening to come from Diana's lips.
'No, you're the first' Diana answered shaking her head. She could feel her cheeks growing warm. To her relief, Coulson announced that they have reached the base, changing the mood before Steve could notice her.
