To Be a Lover of the Sea
The Sea always loved the Shore
and the Shore adored the Sea
but the Sea craved more
The Sea loved the Moon
and the Moon loved the Sea
She wanted motion
and so they danced happily
The Shore was content with this, though she always missed the Sea
Embracing her each time she came back to her
the Sea still loved the Shore, greeting her each time she came back with treasures
each from a new place around the world
The Shore would always wait patiently until her lover came home again
The Sea still wanted more
she wanted the Sky, and the stars
In the daytime, she would beam a bright blue up at the Sky
mimicking him, vying with the clouds for his attention
At dusk, she would reflect the beauty of the orange sunset
showing the Sky exactly how beautiful he is
And at night, she would mirror the wonder that is the stars, rippling on her never still surface
The Shore loves the Sea, always waiting for her to return once again, if but for only a brief moment in time.
The Moon loves the Sea, dancing eternally with her, twisting and turning in ways only they can understand.
The Sky loves the Sea, each of them finding beauty in one another, that they were incapable of seeing alone.
The Sea loves them all, holding each dear to her, like the pearls lying deep within her depths, making time for each of her lovers.

Her eyes mimics the sky
Glistening in the sun.
I could drown in her beauty
as she is just
So deep and full of mystery
She can seem furious at times,
like she could kill with just a look
But underneath I know she is as calm as ever
She feels like home.
And her name is the sea

the sea called my name
it whispered secrets I had hidden and disowned
I let it
take me
move me
change me
instead of fighting to stay above water
I let it drown me
Softly
Quietly
until I molded into blue

the sea cliff
i run as fast as i can with you
hold on to my hand little raven
as we dance on top of the sea cliff
what do you wish my dearest maiden?
hearts from the royalty of golden?
what am i to do? oh my raven

“The war will end. The leaders will shake hands. The old woman will keep waiting for her martyred son. That girl will wait for her beloved husband. And those children will wait for their heroic father. I don’t know who sold our homeland. But I saw who paid the price.”

You came into my life and made everything else feel like a rehearsal. Love always came to me as a question, but with you, it felt like an answer. I didn't know I had put up walls until you brought them crashing down. I couldn't figure out why love was different with you until I realized it hadn't been love with anyone else.

And May The Screams You Ignored Haunt You Every Night:
This was a choice.
A choice of complacency.
A choice to ignore.
A choice to be willfully ignorant.
We funded it.
We cheered for it in our actions, or lack thereof.
And if there is anyone to blame, it is us.
It is our fault for not taking our power back.
It is our fault for choosing to value material items over the welfare of our fellow humans.
It is our fault for not demanding more.
“Why only Palestine?”, they ask.
“Why don’t you focus on problems in your own backyard?”
Palestine is our backyard.
Palestine is the litmus test, for if we didn’t fund the fascism in Palestine, we ourselves would be free.
If we didn’t find Israel, we ourselves would have basic human rights.
If we didn’t elect the corrupt, the world would not be the military industrial complex’s playground.
If we reclaimed our power, our elected officials would work for us, and not their next lobby check.
We chose this.
We choose it with every dollar we spend, every piece of media we consume, and with every scream we ignore.
