Thank You, But No
“Oh no! Oh no! Oh no!” Marinette uttered in a combination of mutters under her breath and exasperated groans. She was running late to meet Tim for dinner, which admittedly, wasn’t new or surprising, for either of them.  It had become so common for one of them to be late, they had a punishment for it, whoever was late had to pay for the meal, or the next one if they missed the meal entirely.  Which was fine for M. Co-CEO of a billion-dollar company, but she could NOT afford another dinner.  Not even a Batburger dinner.
Not that Tim would force her to pay.  He’d brush it off and pay with a smile, but she didn’t want him to have to because he was being generous, which of course he always was.  He was the single most generous, thoughtful, considerate man she’d ever met, and she’d met Adrien, Luka, Nino, and her dad, so that was saying something.  He was brilliant and funny and understanding.  He was an absolutely amazing person and even better boyfriend.
Which isn’t to say they didn’t have issues… such as their propensity for getting wrapped up in whatever they were working on and being late for dates or missing them entirely, as mentioned previously.  But they always made it up to each other and made sure the other knew how important they were.  Or at least they tried.  Maybe they weren’t as successful as Marinette had thought.  That would explain why there was still an underlying feeling that something was off.  It was tiny but niggling.
That feeling always stopped her from feeling too secure in their relationship and her actions.  She wanted nothing more than to build a life with Tim, but that niggling was holding them back.  They were just short of fully trusting each other.  She knew why she was holding some things back.  She wasn’t ready to tell a man she didn’t fully trust about the nineteen little gods and innumerable troublesome monks that came with being with her.  But she couldn’t figure out what was holding him back if it wasn’t that her constantly being late made him doubt her commitment.
So she needed to get to the restaurant before him, but everything that afternoon seemed to be colluding against her.  She’d narrowly avoided having to go to the warehouse or to a customer to handle random issues several times throughout the day, the issues seemingly getting increasingly significant as the day went on.  She’d spent the entire day putting out fires and now was running late.
But!  She was only a block from the restaurant.  She could see the awning as she ran and although she was late, she was still earlier than Tim typically was, so there was a very good chance she would be able to beat him. She grinned as she picked up speed, weaving between people as she flew toward the crosswalk.
However, that is when Gotham struck.  Just as she reached the street corner, a car exploded in front of her.  Everyone immediately backed away and lowered themselves closer to the ground as they edged away from the explosion.  Marinette, however, froze after crouching down rather than backing away.
She studied the scene taking in every detail, searching for anyone in need of immediate help and calculating where her help would most be needed.  But nothing appeared to need attention.  The explosion was controlled and concise.  Only the car itself was damaged.  She couldn’t even see any bodies, not even the driver.
She cautiously moved closer to the exploded car waiting for the rogue’s next move.  But nothing happened.  She stood warily and moved slowly toward the restaurant.  In all likelihood, it would still operate as normal.  The incident wasn’t large enough to garner Bat attention.  The cops would appear eventually.  Nothing that any Gothamite would take note of the next day, really.
She kept her movements tentative as she crossed the street.  Something seemed off, something she couldn’t quite identify and it was disconcerting.  It almost came as no surprise when she felt herself suddenly drifting off into a black void mid-step.
><><><><><><><><
Sensation flooded back to Marinette with a drawn-out groan.  Her head was fuzzy.  Her limbs were weighed down.  She snuggled into the luxurious sheets wrapped around her.  She loved these sheets.  They were silky and soft and… she shot up into a seated position, eyes wide… and they were definitely not something she would be able to afford.
She instantly fell back onto the bed with a whimper, clutching her now throbbing head, and looked around through her fingers.  It took a few seconds for the scene around her to register.  She was in a grand room.  Her entire apartment could fit in this one room.  She eyed one of the paintings on the wall.  Just that painting alone was worth more than everything in her apartment combined.
There was only one family she knew personally who could possibly have a room like this.  She sat back up slowly to examine the room again.  It had to be Wayne Manor… some hidden, supremely pretentious room in Wayne Manor.  Oh no!  Did she pass out and Tim found her and took her home to Wayne Manor!  Instead of his own flat for some reason…  Oh, this was a catastrophe.  It was so embarrassing.
She collapsed back onto the bed with an embarrassed groan, her eyes clamped shut.  There was a lot more gold than she had ever seen in Wayne Manor before.  Why would he have taken her to Wayne Manor and this room?  What was she supposed to get from this?  There had to be a message in this bizarre behavior, right?
“Finally awake I see.”  Marinette’s eyes shot open.  That was not Tim’s voice.  That wasn’t even a male voice, so it definitely wasn’t Alfred’s voice or one of Tim’s brothers either.  She sat up warily, eyes darting around rapidly to find the source of the voice, which was considerably more difficult than it should have been in the cavernous room.  She froze when she finally located it.
A tall, lithe, impeccably put together woman sitting in a shadowy corner leaned forward, but didn’t say anything, choosing instead to stand gracefully and observe Marinette impassively.  After a few long seconds under her scrutiny, Marinette shifted uncomfortably in the bed, pulling the opulent sheets tighter around herself.  Her gaze broke away, nervously taking in the room around them in greater detail, now knowing with certainty that they were not in Wayne Manor.  “Where am I?”
The woman stalked closer to Marinette, her movements intimidating in their precision and control.  “Somewhere far away from any heroes.  Somewhere nobody can find without a guide.  Somewhere not even your dear Detective would be able to find you.”  Her voice was without the cruelty Marinette would have expected considering the content of her statement.
It was that contrast more than anything that made her register her words.  “Who’s ‘my detective’?  Do you mean Sabrina’s dad!  He’s not a detective!  He’s just an officer.  And he can’t even find his badge half the time.  Sabrina has to stop over and find it for him most mornings.  Saying I’m somewhere he can’t find doesn’t narrow it down.  It could be his guest room… except for the whole,” she motioned to the gilded room.
The woman studied Marinette with a complete lack of emotion on her face except for a single brow arching.  The effect was like being completely transparent before her, which was a feeling Marinette was familiar with from that glass akuma.  But this was worse.  This felt more invasive, more revealing.  “Interesting.”
“I’ve never had someone creepy say that to me and not have it mean something bad,” Marinette observed petulantly.
The woman’s lips seemed to strain to stay in their perfect pout.  “You may want to keep your mouth closed if you value your tongue.”  Despite the war on her lips, her voice was even and commanding, bordering on cold.
“You guys may have kidnapped the wrong person then,” Marinette grumbled.
“Oh no, no, I don’t believe we did,” she hummed, her eyes twinkled with something Marinette couldn’t identify.
The urge to reach up and feel for her earrings was overwhelming, but Marinette refused to give in.  If they didn’t know who she was already, the movement would signal the truth.  It was a clue Marinette was not willing to give.  A blank façade fell across her face.  “And I would recommend speaking clearly and sparsely when you are brought to the throne room,” the woman advised.
Marinette’s façade immediately dropped as her brows furrowed.  “The what now?”
“My father is not known for looking kindly upon fools,” she continued as if Marinette hadn’t spoken.
Marinette blinked at her.  “Did you just sa…”
“You will put those on,” the woman interrupted sharply and motioned toward the clothes laid out on the bed.  “There are no cameras or microphones in here, so you don’t need to worry about that, if my word means anything to you.”
“It doesn’t,” Marinette answered instantly but did turn in the direction indicated, noticing the clothes for the first time.  Even without touching them, she could tell they were extremely high quality both in the fabric and in production.  It would easily be the nicest, most ornate outfit she had ever worn.  It was truly an inspiration for her.  However, it would also easily be the skimpiest thing she’d worn in public other than her bikini.  It was so tight and skimpy, it looked like something a comic book artist designed for a female superhero.  It was most definitely not what she wanted to wear when she was brought to face whoever was behind all this.  “Thank you, but no.  No, I would prefer not to.”
“You will put it on, or you will wear nothing,” the woman warned firmly, “which I’m sure my father will also enjoy, both the result and the process of stripping your current clothes from your body scrap by scrap.”
Marinette’s eyes widened with every word, absolutely confident in the honesty of her words.  She looked back at the clothes that she would be wearing.  “Right… I will… put those on.”
“Wise choice, you may yet survive the night,” the woman nodded and turned.  “The dressers will be in soon.”
“I know how to…” Marinette ripped her eyes from the clothes to the woman, but she was already gone, “… dress myself,” she finished lamely to the empty room.  She finally allowed herself to reach up to her ears with a groan at the lack of earrings.  She was going to have to do this, whatever this ended up being, without her powers and then somehow search what she was positive was a ridiculously large complex for her earrings.
She let out a long, deep breath and started putting the clothes on by herself.  “It’s not like I’m a designer or anything,” she grumbled.  “Not like it’s my entire job to come up with an outfit, accessories, hair, and makeup.  What would I know.”
><><><><><><><><
Okay, so maybe she didn’t know what was expected for this particular occasion, because just like the room, there was considerably more gold involved in her outfit, accessories, and even makeup than she would have ever used on her own.  And in all honestly, she wasn’t sure she would have been able to get the hair accessories actually stay in their artfully styled placement, especially with all the sharp movements she kept making around the women helping style her and the guards escorting her to their destination, the throne room, if the woman was to be believed, which Marinette was inclined to do, about that fact at least.
As soon as she entered the room, pushed at the end of a few very sharp swords was actually a far better description, she had to fight her jaw dropping.  She’d thought the last room was ostentatious, but this new room made the last room look like a cheap, roadside motel that hadn’t been updated since the 70’s.  The room was covered in gold details and ornately carved, deeply stained woodwork.  The ceiling was far above her like the grand entryway of Wayne Enterprises.  Operas could be properly sung in this room.  Centered against the back wall, a raised platform towered, demanding attention in its size and ostentatiousness.
A single chair sat at the apex with an ancient man seated, just as impeccably dressed as the woman earlier had been.  A step down and behind the chair was a line of other chairs, a few fille empty.  One of the seated figures was the woman she had seen earlier.  As before, the woman gazed impassively upon her, like Marinette’s discomfort and fear was beneath her consideration.  The two others in line only vaguely resembled one another, some not at all, but Marinette surmised they were all his children and the empty chairs for even more of his children.
She stopped at the bottom of the short staircase to what must have been considered the throne and waited to be acknowledged.  The man, who had to be the father the woman had spoken of earlier, stared at her with a similarly intense gaze as his daughter, but significantly more sinister and creepier.  She had to stop herself from fidgeting under it.
The longer it went on, the more uncomfortable it became until she had to say something.  “Um… hi,” she offered uncertainly, adding to her discomfort with a small, awkward wave.
“Hello…” he responded.  His voice was exactly what she had expected from his appearance, bold but empty and dripping with smarm.  “… Guardian.”
Marinette lifted her head slowly, eyes wide in horror.  “Oh no,” she gasped, barely louder than a breath.
“Welcome to my throne room,” he stated with no indication of warmth or welcome in his voice.  “You, my dear, you have the immense honor of becoming my bride.”
Her eyes somehow managed to widen even further at his words despite her actions being sluggish, the world around her not quite registering as real.  “Oh… no.  No, no, no, no… no.  No, thank you, no.  No, no.  Thank you but no.  No, no, no, no…” she shook her head woodenly then looked back up at him and pursed her lips.  “Noooo.”
“You will join me, and I will make you my queen.”  The sinister glint in his eye and eerie curl to his lips suggested he believed this was an incredible honor.  Marinette could not quite see what proof he had to back that up, but she suspected he was one of those men who based their personal value on delusion rather than evidence.
She was sure a statement like the one he had just uttered was supposed to be a request, but it was stated like a command.  A statement of fact, like ‘the sky is blue’, ‘water is wet’, ‘this situation is messed up.’  “Que…Oh, no.  No, I’m not really the royalty type.  Queen?  I wouldn’t be…  I hate velvet!” she finally exclaimed.  She stomped her foot and crossed her arms over her chest to accentuate her point.
His vile smile dropped, his lips instead forming into a hard, thin line.  “I realize you may believe you are unworthy of me.  Your ability to realize your inferior status is one of the reasons you will become a perfect wife.”
“Oh… no,” she muttered, shaking her head, her eyes unfocusing.  “Adrien warned me something like this would happen if I moved to Gotham.”
“But I assure you,” he continued, completely oblivious that she had said anything, or that she was no longer listening, “you are not as far beneath me as you may believe, Guardian.  With your given powers and my natural strength and intelligence, we will have many strong brilliant children.”
Marinette’s eyebrows disappeared under her bangs.  “Oh… no.  No, thank you.  No.  I think we should reevaluate that decision… maybe tweak it… just a bit.  I can’t… I’m already dat...” She stopped short, offering a strained smile instead.  It was a decidedly terrible idea to mention Tim to a madman.
What she wouldn’t give to have Tim there with her.  She wanted nothing more than to be able to bury her face in his chest and have him wrap his strong arms around her.  But at the same time, she couldn’t imagine anything worse.  He was safe where he was, far away from what was happening to her.  No, she didn’t want Tim with her.  What she wanted was to get out of that room, find her earrings, and get back to Tim’s embrace and not leave it for a week.
She shook her head to try to concentrate back on where she was.  “How about…” she forced air out of her lungs, “no.  No, no, no.  You have kids!”  She motioned toward the seats behind him.  “You already have MANY kids.  You do not need me to have ‘many.’”
“I need better,” he bellowed.
Marinette gasped and straightened up to her full height, which granted, even if the man had been on the same level as her and standing, would not have been much against the towering man, but she refused to accept his statement unmatched.  “Okay, rude.  I think maybe they need a better father.”
“Silence!” he thundered.  His voice echoed throughout the chamber with a ferocity and strength, she was surprised nobody except her flinched.
The woman from earlier almost imperceptibly shook her head, just enough to catch Marinette’s eye but not enough to catch anyone else’s.  “Right.  Silence.  Shutting up, sir,” Marinette grumbled grudgingly.
“Start the ceremony,” he commanded.
In the blink of an eye, Marinette was shoved forward and up the stairs, tripping frequently on her skirt she hadn’t been given time to gather up, a skirt that managed to cover almost nothing of her legs but still drag under her feet, until she was next to the ancient man while another man in a significantly less ornate outfit was ushered into the room in front of them.  “Wait, now?” she exclaimed, looking around frantically.  She could not get married!  Not like this.  Not to him.  It was supposed to be Tim.  They were supposed to build their relationship, develop their trust, then get married.
No, this couldn’t happen.  “Oh, no.  No, this is all happening a bit f…” the word died in her throat when quicker than she could track, a dagger dug into her throat, hard enough for beads of blood to appear at the knife’s edge, but only that much.  She wasn’t sure if the restraint was luck or because he didn’t want his ‘wife’ to bear visible scars, and she was not willing to find out.  Especially considering he was able to do it without standing and she still had no clues where her earrings were.
The new man cleared his throat and looked between the two of them anxiously, his eyes begging Marinette for forgiveness she was too dazed to be able to give.  He cleared his throat when she didn’t respond and continued anyway.  “We are…”
“Skip to the important part,” the ancient man growled.  Marinette tried to back away from him but the guards behind her must have anticipated the response as before she could move a millimeter, she could feel the points of their swords digging into her bare shoulder blades.
The man offered a strained smile.  “Isn’t the entire ceremony the imp…” he froze as the dagger that had been at her neck, suddenly appeared at his, drawing rivulets of blood.
“Do you wish to continue your insolence?” her soon-to-be-husband hissed.  He waited a few beats while he stared down the petrified man.  “Do you?” he demanded louder.  When the man shook his head sloppily, the dagger disappeared so quickly Marinette couldn’t say where it went.
The other man’s eyes darted between the two of them again, sweat mixing with the blood running down his neck and staining his collar.  “Do you…”
“I do,” the ancient man barked impatiently.
“Right…”  The other man nodded anxiously and turned to Marinette.  “Do yo…”
She shook her head so rapidly the man in front of her blurred.  “Oh… n…”
“She does,” her betrothed cut in loudly.
“Okay, yeah, I suppose that can… can count,” the other man stammered.  He was slowly inching away from the couple, putting as much space between him and them as he could before he was able to sprint out of the room, and Marinette had never been more jealous of anyone in her life.  “I now pronounce you husband and wife.”
“What?” she exclaimed.  No.  No, no, no, no.  No.  She could not be married.  Not to this man.  This was not the future she planned.  Her heart sank as the man’s lips puckered and he pulled her closer against his body.
His predatory grin dropped when an explosion sounded nearby.  “What,” he seethed.  He glared at the wall closest to the explosion like it was solely responsible for the disruption and hissed when the sounds of fighting carried into the room.  “Impossible!”
The sounds increased in volume until it was so loud, they could almost make out the words being screamed in the fight.  It quickly became apparent the fight would breach the throne room in moments.  The ancient man shoved Marinette away with such force, she sprawled on the floor and scrambled to keep from falling off the stage, but his eyes never left the door to check on her, not that she would have expected him to.  He pulled out his sword from wherever he had secured it, she still wasn’t sure where that was, and wielded it in preparation.
“Father,” the woman from earlier said quietly but forcefully, “we must leave before he comes.”
“I am not afraid of him,” he hissed, his eyes still glaring at the door in anticipation.
“No,” she agreed, but Marinette could see the roll of her eyes behind her father’s back.  “But a battle that need not be fought is a foolish one.”
He hissed and tucked his sword away as he whirled toward the back of the room, rushing with his daughter toward a hidden door, his other children already long gone.  “How did he know?”  His voice was lower than it had been since she met him, but still managed to carry through the room.
The woman pointedly ignored Marinette as she moved behind her father.  “Likely a tracker.  Did you check her for a tracker?”
“Of course I checked for a tracker!” he thundered and turned on her, attempting to stare her down.
The woman raised an eyebrow but refused to cower at his vitriol.  “Then I suggest having your men do a better job next time.”
The man growled but moved through the door his daughter had been urging him toward with a final flourish of his cape.  And just like that, he was gone and the room empty as his guards had all disappeared without a sound and through some mysterious, possibly magical means, because they certainly hadn’t gone through the door at the front of the room or the door the man and his daughter had disappeared through.
She searched the room for their escape route, hoping to follow their lead.  Following that man and his family seemed like an absolutely terrible idea.  The last thing she needed was him remembering she existed and trying to take her with him.  Going out the front door would lead her straight into the fight, which without her earrings, seemed like a worse idea.  But she needed to get to her earrings and she needed to get them now, before anyone else found them.  And that was all assuming the man didn’t realize she was Ladybug as well as the guardian and take the earrings with him.
She started down the stairs swiftly, intensely inspecting every centimeter of the side wall as she moved.  She had just caught a slight irregularity in the wall when the front door slammed open and several figures rushed in.  She squawked and attempted to find a place to hide, but she had managed to position herself directly in front of the stairs when the door opened.  She could not have selected a more exposed location in the room if she tried.  Even if she’d been at the top of the stairs, she would have been closer to the back door and would have had the chance to get to it before they could get to her.
It took a full few seconds for her to register that the figures rushing toward her were not a threat.  In fact, she recognized them.  The Teen Titans were there.  The Teen Titans had come to rescue her.  She furrowed her brow.  No, that couldn’t be right.  There was no way they’d come just for her.  There had to have been something else going on and she was just a collateral bonus.
Red Robin rushed ahead of the rest of the team, directly toward her.  He reached her in mere moments and reached out for her like he was afraid she would disappear if he didn’t, but he stopped just short of touching her, his hands hovering over her body as though he would be able to sense any damage that way.  “Marinette!  Marinette, are you okay?”  She blinked at him and nodded numbly.  Maybe she was wrong.  There was no way for them to know her name if she wasn’t the objective.  “Are you sure?” he asked again.
She quirked her head to the side to consider his voice, his lips, his expression as he examined her.  The way his brow furrowed just slightly and his lips pursed a touch, like he was afraid of showing too much emotion and giving away his hand.  She wished she could see his eyes.  She could almost picture the frantic darting of his panicked blue eyes hidden behind the white lenses of his mask.
Her eyes widened as her subconscious realization became fully conscious.  “Oh my… Oh no.  No, no, no.  Really?” she exclaimed, taking a step back to get a better look at him and yep, there was definitely protective padding built into the suit, but she knew those arms, she’d spent a good half an hour tracing her fingers over the edges of those biceps, triceps, and deltoids just the night before.
“Mar… Mademoiselle?” he asked cautiously.
She closed her eyes and dropped her head back with a heavy sigh.  “I’m never going to live this down.”
He raised an eyebrow at her response, but his eyes quickly zeroed in on her newly exposed neck, almost reaching toward her neck, but diverting his hand to run through the hair she’d brushed out of his face that morning.  “Are you sure you’re okay, Mademoiselle?”
“Mademoiselle?  Really?”  She righted her head to look him in the eye, raising an incredulous eyebrow at him until his shoulders fell slightly and he smiled sheepishly.
He finally allowed himself to reach out and touch her, starting by tenderly tracing the skin around the cut on her neck, his touch so tender and cautious, she almost couldn’t feel it.  She slowly stretched her neck to give him a better view without ever taking her eyes off his, waiting for him to satisfy his fears and assure himself of her safety, knowing he wouldn’t be able to move on until he had.
His eyes slowly moved from her neck to her clavicle, arms, stomach, and legs, his fingers trailing the path his eyes forged.  His brow furrowed at the goosebumps that trailed his fingers.  His eyes jumped up to meet hers, realization dawning.  He quickly removed his cape and draped it over her shoulders.  “It’s insulated,” he murmured.  “I know how cold you get.”
He pulled the cape closed around her and ran his hands down her arms a few times, his eyes never leaving hers.  He took a breath and slowly reached up to remove his mask.  The look in his eyes took her breath away.  There was such a depth to them, almost boundless with emotion, almost limitless with devotion.  “How did you know?” he asked softly, close to a whisper.
Marinette cupped his face tenderly.  She gently traced the skin around his eyes where his mask had sat.  “I’d know you anywhere,” she answered in the same breathless tone.
He searched her eyes, hoping it conveyed all the relief he felt at finally having her in front of him.  “I’d find you anywhere,” he whispered.  Her eyes suddenly watered and she collapsed into his arms, body shaking as she cried and digging in deeper when he wound his arms around her.
“It’s okay.  It’s okay.  I’m here.  You’re safe,” he repeated over and over in her ear like a mantra.  He kept repeating it until her tears eased.  He pulled back just far enough to meet her eyes.  “I’m here and you’re safe.  I’ll always rescue you.  I’d tear the world apart to protect you.”
She was no longer crying but her eyes were red rimmed and broken.  He suddenly felt overwhelmed again and pulled her to him to reassure himself she was still there.  “I’m so sorry.  I’m so sorry he took you,” he muttered into her hair.
She shook her head.  She could feel his lips rub against her hair with each shake.  “It’s okay.  It’s not like it was your fault.”
He pulled away to meet her eyes again so he could convey how earnest he was.  “It… Marinette it was,” he affirmed, regret and guilt bleeding from his voice.  “He knows who I am and… has a bit of an obsession with me.  He took you because of me.”
She met his eyes firmly.  “He didn’t.  It wasn’t about you.  He thought I would produce good kids for him.”
Tim jerked his head back and wrinkled his nose at the thought.  “Ew.”
“Right?” she exclaimed with a false lightness.
“But Marinette…”  He groaned and removed a hand just so he could run it through his hair and immediately settle it back at her waist. “…you have to know, you came to his attention because of me.  It really was my…”
“It wasn’t your fault,” she repeated more forcefully.  “It wasn’t Tim.  I can’t exp…” she let out a frustrated groan and met his eyes with renewed determination.  “It wasn’t your fault.  I need you to believe me even if I can’t say why.  Not yet.  Not here.  But soon.”
He shook his head, his lips pursed unconvinced.  But, instead of focusing who to blame, obviously him, he focused on her; her safety, her health, her emotions, her in his arms when he was terrified he might never see her alive again.  His eyes traced her face, his fingers trailed after in a tender embrace until he slid them over to tuck her bangs behind her ear.  “How are you?  Really?” he whispered.
Marinette dropped her head onto his chest again and nuzzled into his arms, letting his warmth and security seep through her skin and into her bones.  “It was horrible.  I didn’t know when I would see you again.”
He tightened his arms around her as if it would protect her against that possibility.  “I’ll always come for you,” he reassured, his voice just loud enough for her to hear… and Superboy, but that was irrelevant.  “Are you hurt anywhere else?  Was it just your neck?”
She shook her head against his chest, refusing to reduce any contact between them.  “No, nowhere else.”  She suddenly jerked back and looked up with wide eyes.  “But he… we’re married.”
Tim blinked at her.  “Wait, what?”
She shook her head blankly as her mind started running through the repercussions.  “He… there was a ceremony,” she rushed out.  Her words were coming out so quickly, they almost merged into a single word.  “There was a ceremony and a holy person, I think, that didn’t want to but he did…”
“Did you say I do?” Tim cut in before she could spiral too deep.
She shook her head as she blinked, her mind still racing but on a different track now.  It was all a bit cloudy, but her mind ran through all the events of the past hour as well as she could remember it.  “I didn’t… it didn’t seem to be an important factor.”
“Then you’re not,” he assured her confidently.
“But…”
“She married?” he asked over her shoulder.  Marinette whipped around but Tim kept her in his arms, pulling her closer when Marinette squeaked and tried to jump away from the figure behind her.
“No,” the woman from earlier confirmed.  “Father skipped through that part.  Don’t worry my dear.  You’re not my stepmother.  You are uncorrupted.”
“Uh…”  Marinette tried to edge away from her, unsure how to respond.  But Tim held her tight, which had to mean he didn’t think she was a threat; Marinette however still wasn’t convinced.
“And I’ll keep him away.  I’ll convince him he is wrong about you… though we both know he’s not, don’t we?  Speaking of, here are your things,” she handed Marinette a Hermès bag filled with her clothes, “all of your things,” she said pointedly.  Marinette took the bag and looked in warily to find her clothes, but more importantly, her earrings at the very top.
“Thank you,” Marinette gushed, offering the woman a smile for the first time.
The woman nodded.  “Keep the bag and the outfit.  You’ve earned it.”
“Oh… no,” Marinette deferred and held the bag out away from her.  “No, thank you.”
The woman scoffed.  “The bag is mine, go ahead and keep that for yourself.  No association with my father.  Used Bruce’s money, actually, so no guilt.”  Marinette was so overwhelmed by everything happening she almost didn’t register Tim’s snort at the woman’s comment.  “Sell the gold from the accessories or donate it.  I suspect that’s the kind of thing you would like.  Father won’t notice.”
“Thank you, Talia,” Tim offered with a nod.
“You’re welcome, Tim,” the woman, Talia apparently, nodded back.  “Keep her safe.  She’s more valuable than you know.”
Tim looked down at Marinette, his gaze swimming in adoration.  “I intend to.”  When he looked back up the woman had disappeared again.  “Should I be worried about that?  About her interest in you?” he asked Marinette lowly.
“I am,” Marinette grumbled.  “It’s probably the smart move.”  She leaned her head back on his shoulder and let out a relieved sigh when he tightened his embrace and guided her out of the compound and toward their plane.
“She’s the one that told you where I was?”  He nodded without looking at her, his eyes scanning the area to ensure all threats had been removed.  His team seemed to have fallen into step behind them, keeping a bit of a distance to give them privacy, but Marinette could feel their eyes darting to her frequently.  “She mentioned Bruce.  You know each other well?”
He nodded.  “A bit too well sometimes.  Other times…” he kissed her temple letting his lips linger and pulling her closer when she melted into it, “other times I couldn’t be more thankful for her.”
Marinette cocked her head to the side with a hum.  “She’s a bit creepy.  Sexy!” she added quickly.  “But creepy… which is usually a combination I hear about from booktok men, not real women.”
Tim snorted “Booktok, huh?”
“Zoé,” Marinette shrugged.  “I know far more than I want to.”
“Ah, yeah, I can see that,” he snickered.  He urged her on ahead of him up the plane’s rear ramp, following close behind her, making sure he had at least one hand on her at all times.  He waited until she was at the top before speaking again.  “She’s Damian’s mom.”
Marinette whirled on him instantly.  “She’s what!”
“Yep,” he answered, popping the p.
“With Bruce?” she clarified.
He let out a deep sigh.  “My family is a bit of a mess.  This is really just the tip of the iceberg.”  He shook his head and motioned toward some seats, finally removing his hand to pull out a strapped in container, pulling out a few blankets and pillow.  “Ready to go home?”
She nodded tiredly and collapsed back against him, sagging against him until she would have fallen down if he hadn’t wrapped his arms around her waist.  He sat down, pulling her down into the seat next to him and wrapped the blankets around her with tender, gentle movements.
She watched him move, her affection for him growing with each soft pat and caring rub.  “Will you stay with me?”
Tim looked up from the blankets to meet her eyes with a fond, understanding gaze.  He brushed her cheek softly and opened his mouth to respond but closed it quickly with a furrow of his brow.  “Why don’t you stay with me?  Forever?” he added hesitantly.
She blinked at him.  “Tim!  Are you…”
“Yeah, yeah, I am.  Asking you to move into my home, I mean.  Well, no, it would be our home,” he rambled.  “I’ve wanted to ask you for so long.  The only thing holding me back was,” he motioned toward his suit and then around them.  “And now that you know…”
Marinette stared at him; mouth slightly ajar in shock.  Her mind tried to process all the possible implications, the benefits and dangers.  Was it too soon?  They hadn’t been dating too long, but they’d been dating long enough for her to know him and know that she loved him and that’s what mattered, wasn’t it?  The emotion, not the time.
Was it too dangerous?  If she moved in with him, it was going to be difficult to hide the kwami, and yeah, he was probably in a better position than most to understand what it meant to be a Guardian, but it still wasn’t a secret she was willing to share.  He would only be the third person she’d ever told.  Alya and Adrien were the only people she’d told and the prospect of adding another person to that list was terrifying.
Was she in the right place mentally to make the decision?  And if she wasn’t and if she made the wrong choice, would it destroy their relationship?  If she said yes just because she was in need of some stability in that moment, but then after a few weeks needed space, would going backward in their relationship harm it?  But then, it really wasn’t an in the moment decision.  She’d wanted to take the next step in their relationship for a while but had been too afraid.  It felt like Tim was hiding something and now she knew what it was.
But all the processing meant Marinette was dead silent for a while too long.  Tim’s arms loosened around her, not dropping, but not as tight as he started backtracking frantically.  “I mean, if you need some time… This was probably the wrong time.  I shouldn’t have…”
The uncertainty in his voice kicked Marinette into action.  “Tim?”
“Yeah?” he asked tentatively.  She could feel his hands clench almost like he was fighting pulling them back.
She pushed forward and placed a firm kiss on his lips, pulling away after a moment just far enough to whisper against his lips.  “Shut up.”
“Yeah, I can do that,” he grinned moments before he pulled her closer to kiss her deeper.  He wound his fingers into her hair as hers found his shoulders to hold him against her, reveling in the feel of him, the assurance that he was there, it was him and not someone else.  He seemed to need the same assurance, his hands running over her and squeezing her frequently.  They didn’t part until one of his teammates passed them and cleared their throat to remind them they were not alone.
Marinette settled back into her seat with a giggle and rested her head on his chest with a contented sigh.  “Please take me home… to our home.”
He grinned and dipped down to place a tender kiss against her forehead.  “Are you sure?”
She smiled brilliantly.  “Oh, yes.  Yes, please.”

Danny Fenton: Jake, be honest with me. Did you eat my burrito?
Jake Long: No, after the ecto pizza, I'm really careful not to eat any food you bring into the base.
Danny: Hm, well Ben was with me all morning checking to see if the void seal was holding, and Jenny doesn't eat food.
Jake: Have you tried Randy or Zak?
Danny: Randy's off trying to find that legendary sword, and Zak is with his family testing infected cryptids.
Jake: Marinette or maybe Rex?
Danny: Ladybug and Chat are on a peace mission overseas since Tuesday with the Xiaolin Monks, and Rex has been jumping worlds, chasing down infected Aku nanoids all week.
Danny: I'd blame Jimmy, Timmy, Tak, Manny or Spongebob, but they've also had ecto sickness like you did.
Jake: Do you think it was Kim?
Danny:... No! She wouldn't!
Kim Possible: * Walks into the room, glares at Danny, sticks the whole burrito in her mouth, swallows and leaves.*
Jake: WHAT did you DO?
Danny: I DONT KNOW!!!

Everybody is posting their opinions about the interview about the Miraculous Ladybug season 5 finale, and I feel like I should as well, but I'm not sure I have much to say. There's just a few things that stick out to me:
First of, it's just very funny to me that the team started out with Bug Noire, and worked backwards from that, and that's why Adrien ended up in the isolation chamber. One of the most controversial things about the entire finale happened because Marinette wearing both Miraculous would be cool. That's just plain funny to me.
Second, I have not yet seen a better option for the finale. They did kind of write themselves into a corner there. The story is all about Marinette, but Adrien is the one to whom all the plot points attach. What do you do with that? Compare and contrast the movie, which I saw on the same day as the finale: It's all Marinette's story, until the big finale, where she just lays there and watches as Adrien and Gabriel resolve the main story by themselves. That option sucks, too. It's not terrible, but it's disappointing. I think all the arguments of Adrien can't be there because of Chat Blanc or Ephemeral are nonsense, even if they come from the show's head writers. But it's true that Adrien can't be there, because if he is, the story becomes about him instead of Marinette. If you know a fanfic that found a good way to resolve that, let me know!
As an aside: I know there are people who are disappointed that we didn't learn more about Emilie and the past of the adults, but I think that was never going to happen. I know I made a post about this years ago but I can't find it, but basically: Emilie was an interesting mystery for fans, but she was never relevant to the plot, least of all Marinette. This is the same kind of stuff as with the Marauders back in the days of the Harry Potter fandom, where a certain subset of fans went wild over all the hints. But those were never promises, they were just flavour, telling us the world is bigger and adventures have been going on since forever.
My final and most important point here is something quite different: I am grading Miraculous Ladybug on one hell of a curve. Have been doing that since the first episode I watched. I am willing to forgive most any jank in the storytelling if I get some cool and cute moments, and the show is full of those. So in that regard, the season 5 finale was no problem for me whatsoever. Yes, there is a lot of jank, but also a lot of cool stuff, and that makes me happy. There's a kung-fu crocodile! What more needs to be said?
(Aside: I know there are people who hate the kung-fu crocodile, and that the Couffaine boys are now mystical monks out of nowhere, with no explanation. I assume these people either hate fun or are arguing out of bad faith. If there's one thing in the finale that was obviously objectively 100% a good thing, it's that the crocodile knows Kung-Fu.)
Now, I'm not saying that you should grade the show on a curve, I'm just saying that I do. Yes, it's not entirely rational. Yes, there are plenty of shows out there, including shows aimed at similar age ranges, that don't require this. But if I didn't grade Miraculous Ladybug on a curve, if I didn't rate cute and fun and exciting over great interesting story, if I didn't separate the potential for fanfics from the actual way the stories are told, then I wouldn't be in the fandom to begin with. This is explicitly not a defence or apologia, it's just an explanation for why I have no trouble disregarding the janky parts. I know others disagree, or agree in principle but then some of the janky parts were just too bad for them and broke the spell, and that's valid.
But personally, I have no major problem with the season 5 finale. Yeah it was weird and quite a few decisions were stupid and didn't help any overall story. But I had fun, I'm looking forward to season 6 and I am going to write more fanfic. That's what matters to me.

Love At First Sight - Silly Thoughts
Thinking about miraculous intrinsic effects and how that might impact Argos/Felix while writing 'Love At First Sight: Bonus'. How he would fan out his coat tails dramatically in front of his desired partner/mate…led to this giggle-inducing image in my head.
Young adults. Post Hawkmoth. Post Argos Redemption.
Main Story
Bonus, Sorta
~~~~~~~
“What….is….happening?” Marinette’s bewildered whisper was nearly drowned out by the lively guitar music, her forehead creased in confusion and curiosity. Wayzz and Tikki floated over her left shoulder, the turtle kwami sporting the same mildly fascinated look an animal documentarist might have watching a rare species while the red bug kwami looked unimpressed and bored. All three pairs of eyes focused on the flashy display of blues, purples, and greens before them; augmented by the occasional trilling of a flute.
Wayzz cleared his throat and adopted a more serious expression before speaking softly. “Observe, the male of the species. It is said to be legend in some cultures that the flamboyant display is a divine sign of incoming monsoon.” He paused and all three tilted their heads as the tapping of feet increased, then reduced yet again.
Tikki snorted, “I wish a monsoon would come end this. Where’s Plagg when you need him?”
The turtle continued as if she had not spoken. “Their call is often described as haunting…” – another flute trill – “…if loud. Only the male has the beautiful plumage to display, which they can do for only short amounts of time—”
“Not short enough.” The bug snarked over Wayzz’s calm voice.
“Tikki!” came Marinette’s affronted whisper.
“…Their feathers are considered to ward off bad energies or provide luck and protection in certain cultures.”
All three blinked as the display before them expanded and grew to be more colorful.
“Good grief…” Tikki sighed in exasperation, bringing her small nub of a paw up to rub at her face.
“In the spring the male’s tail will come in fully, which they will fan it open and shake them, in an effort to attract a mate—”
“A WHAT?!” Marinette whisper screeched, her eyes bulging as her face reddened. She peeled her gaze from the deadpan kwami and back towards the man in front of her. Viewing the strange performance that he was exhibiting in a new light, she rested her chin behind interwoven fingers while deep in thought.
“The peacock wishes to charm and be selected as a mate, Grand Guardian,” Wayzz stated simply.
“Hmph, certainly new. When was the last time we had a male peafowl holder?” Tikki mused to her fellow kwami while her chosen deliberated silently.
“Oh goodness, not for a couple millennia. He was a Buddhist monk, if I recall correctly…took a vow of celibacy…” the turtle hummed softly, his eyes following the ostentatious movements.
The bug kwami patted the young woman’s cheek, gaining her attention. “It could be worse, Marinette. Remember when Chat Noir left dead mice on your balcony?”
The bluenette cringed, “Ugh, no, I had hoped to forget that phase forever.”
Tikki giggled, “Plagg wasn’t much better. When he decided to court me in the 13th century, he brought a large slice of Pont l’Eveque into the miracle box.” Marinette looked horrified. “Took it at least a century to air that out. The miraculous temple was very displeased.” Both kwami shuddered at the memory.
With a loud bang, all three jumped and returned their attention back to the dancing young man before them. “Pyrotechnics?! Okay, that’s it!” Marinette got up and stormed over to the boombox, cutting the music and leaving a breathless Argos stumbling to a stop.
“Wha…”
“I like you too. Pick me up for dinner at 20:00, nothing too fancy,” the bluenette called out over her shoulder as she walked away.
“Wait! You didn’t let me finish!” The blond protested tiredly, panting from the exertion.
The young woman paused with one foot hooked on the fire escape ladder, looking at him fondly. “It was a lovely dance, Felix.  I especially liked when you shook your—ahem, 20:00. Don’t be late.” With that, she disappeared over the side of the roof and back towards her open apartment window.
“BUT I TOOK FLAMENCO LESSONS FOR EIGHT WEEKS FOR THIS!”
@mlbfemslashfebruary My (late) entry for day 14, dedicated to the weirdly fascinating pairing of Lila and Marinette. Set early in season 4, here's the first half of "Trust and Secrets Are to Be Treasured".
It was bad enough for Marinette that she had a cold, and had to skip school and the date with Luka. But to have Lila, of all people, bring her the homework? Get in her room while she couldn’t keep her away from her secrets?
“You do realize your mom will kill me if I try anything funny, right?” Lila said, almost as if she had read her mind. Or just her expression. “You say anything, and she demonstrates on me how a Monk’s Spade technique can be applied to a baker’s spatula.”
“How do you know about that?” Marinette asked, worried about how much her worst school enemy knew about her family.
“She did it on live television during the debacle with Jagged Stone, and then I looked up what Chinese weapon resembles a spatula the most. But let’s talk about sweeter things… Like these bugie I’ve brought you. They’re my favorite bakery good.”
For a moment, Marinette feared the food the other one was offering her was poisoned. Then her mind translated the food’s name, and she realized Lila Rossi was literally feeding her lies, and admitted she liked them.
“Seriously?” she asked as she involuntarily chuckled. “That was worse than Chat Noir’s puns.”
“Thank you. Though I suspect you’d like my truth better.” was Lila’s reply as she produced an envelope. “Here I have a handwritten list of all the false claims I’ve made and other bullshit I’ve pulled since I came to Paris, including a few things you would never suspect, and an USB drive with evidence, all to be used as needed.”
“What?! What are you trying to pull?”
“I’ve simply realized I fucked up. Deeply. Did you know I collaborated with the big bad butterfly man willingly, twice? All knowing I can easily take the idiot down and “save Paris”… And then that jackass’ stunt in New York nearly destroyed the world, twice. And I found out he got Shanghai destroyed by accident, though Ladybug fixed that. That’s when I realized the mess I’m getting myself into just to get back at the spotted near-nudist” once again Marinette cringed at her costume being practically painted on “and panicked. I was this close turning my hair in a wig and abusing embassy resources to create myself a few fake identities when I realized there was a better way, just give my leash to someone I can trust not to abuse it. That is, you.”
Marinette blinked as she processed the situation. To quote Chloé it was utterly ridiculous… But it made sense. It was even flattering that Lila trusted her so much. Still, she had to ask something.
“Why do you hate Ladybug so much?”
“Because she nearly destroyed me out of jealousy. I mean, remember my famous interview? I expected Alya to hold on it for a few days and then verify it with Ladybug, allowing me to reveal I had pranked the entire school… And then It was published on the same day. How many chances that Alya could be stupid enough to publish it without checking? And I even helped her getting some information I had stumbled upon and she was looking after on that day… Right as I was flirting with Adrien. Clearly she saw it and went to Alya to confirm it and then humiliate me, only for Adrien’s reaction not being what she expected and changing her plans.”
Marinette had almost no answer to that, not after what she had done with Kagami out of jealousy. Except that “Alya becomes an idiot whenever Ladybug is involved. Enough she thought Chloé was her even after she was saved by Ladybug on live television.”
“And how was she supposed to know it wasn’t a Lucky Charm decoy? At the time it was still plausible. But nevermind that. I hope I’m proven wrong… And trust you to keep the secret until it becomes necessary to stop me.”
“Ohhh…Kay. I’ll do it. What about Adrien?”
“There’s billions of people on this planet, I’m not going to obsess on one of them that already has a girlfriend. I think I already told you that once. And speaking of them… I’ve heard Andrè the Ice Cream Man let you choose your own magic ice cream, and it was orange and green like my favorite outfit?”
At that, Marinette blushed. She also swore to get even with whoever told Lila about that.
Master Fu only got the Miraculous box because of running away while Feast destroyed the temple.
How was he deemed its guardian and not only able to lose his memories but also give the box to another person?
Did the kwamis make a vote or because he was the last member of the Chinese sector? He didn’t have the book until the show started so it’s not like he got the info on how to become an official guardian there (unless you argue that he made himself a guardian officially thus choosing to lose his memories sometime soon because he was training LB)
Also no joke but why did he live to be 180+?
Was this magic from being the guardian or a miraculous holder? Don’t tell me no magic was involved because bs
Since he’s no longer the guardian, why hasn’t he already died (like he should’ve died before furious fu in my mind)
Edit: here’s what we hear in feast from Fu
I tried to erase all traces of the foolish thing that I had done. A monk told me to run away with the grimoire he managed to save, and the Miraculous Box. The very last Miraculous Box. That's when I realized my sentimonster had devoured all the other Miraculous Boxes that were kept in the temple. And when the monks tried to stop it—the temple, the Order of the Guardians, everything… it was destroyed. I tried to run away from the sentimonster.
Then in furious fu
Tikki: (flies) That's Grand Master Su-Han. The celestial guardian of the Miracle Box.
Marinette: But I'm the guardian of the box.
Tikki: Celestial Guardian was in charge of it before that incident caused by Master Fu. (Barkk flies back to the other kwamis)
Marinette: (angry and confused) How did you find me?
Su-Han: The guardians' staffs hold compasses that allow the boxes to be tracked at all times.
Marinette: Hey! That's not fair! Why didn't I get a staff?
Su-Han: Precisely because you are not a true guardian! This is all a misunderstanding, and the incorrect shape of the box proves it.
My guess would have to be a temporary person can be made guardian of a box but his age and even the transfer process because the monk sending him off is confusing
Also apparently some tweet exists that his lifestyle is why he lived so long but nope
What to expect in S6?
Let's be real, there's nothing that we can expect, especially if you look at how they deal with the plots and message in each episode, especially with how S5 ended. And with Lila, who's the epitome of plot device, being the main villain, you understand why the expectation for season 6 is 6 feet under.
Ironic.
However, i miss the old days where the fandom would theorize things that might happen with joy and curiosity, and i wanna bring that back. So let's ignore That Guy and co's incompetency for the last 3 seasons and the disappointments that came along with it and see what to expect and could possibly happen in the next season.
1. Lila as the new Hawkmoth.
It's the first thing that came to mind, since she'll be the main villain. From what we've known about her so far, unlike Gabe, she take things into her own hands even though it relies mostly on dumbing down everyone else.
So we can expect that she'll use her skill to manipulate people to be vulnerable enough to be akumatized into a villain that she needs. (Goodbye Gigantitan and Mr. Pigeon, y'all gonna be missed. Unless the writers pulled all her brain cells like they did with everyone else, we'll see you soon.)
2. Emilie's sudden appearance.
This one needs to be explained. She's been declared missing, or dead, for at least a whole year, so her appearance needs an explanation.
As an extension to that, we might learn about what Gabriel wish was, and to a lesser extent, we might learn how the peacock got broken in the first place.
(Yes, I know TA already explained that miraculous being indestructible was an error. But the rule of every show is that what was shown to the audience is canon. But of course we can't expect him to own up to his mistake like an adult and try to do something with what has been established.)
3. Power ups, including Chat's (possible) power upgrade.
This one pissed me off the most, because power ups were first introduced in S2, and from 8 potions that's available, we've only seen three. Come on, 4 seasons and only 3 of them? And one of them isn't exactly a power up (You can't possibly say the ice one is a power up).
So yeah, they better introduce all the other power ups this season. Of maybe a fusion power up.
4. Luka and Alix.
It is now clear that everyone knows that Luka knows who LB and CN are, and that Alix very possibly knows too from the time travel. This opens up a lot of possible scenes, and one that everyone had been dying to have is Marinette and Adrien talk to Luka about their hero life (and maybe how they're scared that their hero life might affect their relationship with each other, and Luka has to hold the urge to tell them that they're actually dating each other).
5. Su Han's role.
Now that the new team is formed, Su Han, as the grandmaster guardian of the miraculous, have the responsibility to teach these younglings how to fight properly and learn more about their miraculous. We can expect a sparring session or team battle, and if we're lucky, how to counter each other's miraculous.
Heck, maybe we get to meet more of the monks and learn more about the temple of the guardian.
6. Rose's sickness.
This one i don't really like to talk about, but since it kinda depressing, I wanna talk about it. What would happen to Rose and her sickness? Like, I would imagine an episode where she fell ill and her power is needed to fight an akuma, and she decided to go. When the battle is over, she succumbed into her illness (not dead, mind you).
The angst is strong in this one, and im all for it despite not wanting it.
7. Chloe's return
Rumor has it that she won't be in this season, and honestly that's for the best, seeing last season we got 7 episodes dedicated to put emphasis on how bad she is without giving a single flying shit how much it retcon and ruined the show itself.
But, possibility is possibility, and it's interesting to think about what she'll bring if she's coming back, since she no longer has power and must do things herself. Will she be more of a threat? Who knows.
~~~
I'm purposefully not putting Adrien learning the truth here. Aside from the writers are infamous for doing absolutely jackshit for an entire season and compress everything into 3 episodes near the finale, it's logical from writing standpoint that they'll hold this important part of the story for the real final season. So yeah, I don't think we'll gave him learning the truth in the next season.
So, that's all from me. Sure, there's more to say, but my fingers are tired if i have to write more. So, share your thoughts what you think might or want to happen.

Alright, car's cleaned off now so I have a chance to announce more details!
Alright! So. Polls are out for the first batch. Suggestions are still welcome as this will be an ongoing thing. Now, the fun stuff.
Characters:
Adventuring party will so far consist of Luka, Juleka, and Adrien. Luka and Juleka were both blessed young by the snake of life with Juleka having a focus in death and Luka in life. Later in life, Luka was fortunate enough to receive a second blessing, something that is often reserved for the nobility, mainly monarchs. Meanwhile, Adrien is a fairy prince that's been hidden away from the world until his cousin, Felix, breaks him out in an attempt to kill him to usurp the throne, only to lose him when he's thwarted by the Crimson Death. Adrien escapes and encounters the twins, who keep him safe.
Luka's starting class is being determined by y'all, but Juleka will be an alchemist (and I'm very well aware that Artificers have an alchemist subclass but artificers make my head hurt) and Adrien will be a sorcerer.
Current NPCs:
Marinette and Felix. As mentioned, Felix is Adrien's cousin and looking to usurp control and power by being the sole remaining heir. Felix is blessed by the tiger of valor. Marinette is a wandering knight errant, a paladin. She never utters a word, but travels from village to village to help the innocent before she moves on. She was blessed by the dragon of nature, but a blessing that soon turned to a curse.
Marinette is a paladin and Felix is a monk/rogue multiclass
Now! For y'all. Suggestions are still open for the other characters for what blessings they get, and ships. Unlike Siren's Song, all ships are welcome and I will be open to other ships of one person. This is DND so, flings are, very much a thing (my players for example love to seduce people. Our greatest story is when our rogue got a nat 20 and seduced our prisoner and we still occasionally joke about their Stockholm syndrome love. Or when said rogue played a bard and seduced a man whore assassin through his bumbling, changing the whore from being a villain into a companion).
So, despite the Felinette ship poll up, I will be open to more potential Felix and/or Marinette ships. Among others.

A Blue Bird and a Black Cat pt 7
(Selina decides that Marinette would be better as the Cat than Adrien. Five years, later Dick is very confused about this Lady Noire)
ao3 Beginning Previous
Marinette stepped out of Kaalki’s portal into a wide courtyard hidden in the Himalayas, and dropped her transformation. The first thing that she noticed was that it was high noon and springtime, so small determined wildflowers peaked out of the ground, watered by the snow melting off of the shingled tops of the walls. The acolytes were out in full force cleaning, gardening, and training. And the sky was such a clear crystalline blue that it stole Marinette's breath away, especially when compared to the often bleak and monotonous sky of Gotham.
Marinette let the now too familiar sounds and scents of practiced drills, mountain air, chiming bells, and distant chanting wash over her like the calming orchestra it was, and she was pleased to find that the faint smell of stew cooking lingered on the wind coming from the kitchens. She smiled. It was almost like coming home…almost.
“Grand Guardian,” a voice called. And Marinette opened her eyes. She was currently standing on a platform at the north corner of the Eastern Courtyard, right beside the grand grate that was the main entrance to the temple. It was set aside specifically for Kaalki’s use, and her symbol was inlaid with white and brown stones on the top. Bellow her, standing at the base of the alter-like platform, stood the seventeen Master Guardians of the Miraculous. Seventeen, old, powerful, dangerous monks and warriors dedicated to keeping the Miraculous and their users safe and accountable for their actions. One for each of the Miraculous of the Miracle Box whose colors they wore, minus the Ladybug and the Black Cat.
Upon seeing their stern and aged faces, Marinette took a deep breath and put on her mask. She was now the Grand Guardian of the Miraculous. As fierce and as stubborn as any of them. Ready to learn but unwilling to be put down. Her posture straightened, and she gripped her elbows behind her back in a stance that mimicked theirs. The steel spine that she had earned through years of hard-won experience and leadership was now on full display and radiated off of her in waves of power and danger. Ladybug tempered the edge with sincerity. Lady Noire disguised it with mischieviousness. Marinette hid it completely with softness. But the Guardian used it like a club, and even the Masters straightened a little in her presence.
The Guardian came down from the platform like a general descending among their men, and the Masters fell in behind her, arranging themselves in the order of the Miraculous they aligned with. First came the main five, branching off to the sides in a reverse V formation. And behind them were the twelve of the zodiac, arranged according to the current year in a second V formation nestled in the first. Since it was the year of the Dragon, Su-Han was close, which the Guardian was very thankful for. She had a feeling that she would need her old friend more than ever before the day was out.
As they passed everyone, acolytes, monks, and masters alike all stopped to stare at the procession entering the main temple. And the relaxed air of normalcy that usually wafted through the colorful and spacious halls became tense with anticipation. Especially when they stopped so that an attendant could present the Guardian with her robe.
If this was any other visit, then it would not have been the Guardian walking down those steps, but Marinette. A gentle, kind young woman whom they had all grown to love and appreciate as a sister. She would bring them food from the outside and probably set up a TV in one of the community rooms. She would teach them how to use the internet and arrange a trip to Disney World. She would laugh and tell them about all of the time they had missed from their time being trapped within a senti-monster. And she would always, always, refuse her guardian robe so that she could, laugh, talk, and train freely with acolytes and masters alike.
That was not what happened this time. This time when the attendant presented her with the robe, the Guardian donned it with purposeful efficiency and the entire courtyard held its breath even as the fluttering folds settled around her. The full back garment, lined with red and green, only seemed to highlight the calm, cold steel of the woman’s presence. When the Master Guardians, and the Grand Guardian vanished within the temple, the general bustle of the courtyard returned, only now with the quick efficiency of soldiers preparing for war.
Meanwhile the Guardian and the Masters walked silently through the halls into the Small Council Chamber. It was called this not because of its size or importance, but because of its purpose. This was where the Grand and Master Guardians came to speak in private and there was only enough room for them and the round low table with in it. Refreshments were already placed and easily accessible, since not even attendants could enter this room when it was in use. And waves of magic rippled across the walls like golden curtains so that no threat could enter or overhear what they had to say.
They knelt on cushions on the floor, in the same order of their procession, with the Grand Guardian seated under the great tapestry of the Order’s Seal. Once everyone was present and settled, the doors closed and locked with an audible clang and click. And then there was silence, as the Masters waited upon their leader to speak.
“I am currently in America,” she said calm and cold like a winter breeze. “And have recently recovered the Miraculous of the Falcon.” The Masters all breathed a sigh of relief. There had been a great deal of hidden panic and tension, over discovering that particular artifact’s absence, but they still did not speak as the Guardian continued. “While there I felt, as the kwami informed me, the First Warning. I take it by my greeting that I was not alone.”
“We all felt it,” Su-Han said solemn as the stone. But of course, in this room during this council, she would only be able to call him by his official title, Master of the Dragon.
“It was good that you returned to us quickly,” the Master of Turtle said in the same tone. “We need to prepare.”
“For what?” the Guardian said before they could continue. “Do we know what the threat is?”
The Master of the Fox shook, “No, Grand Guardian, we can guess but until the threat presents itself, we will have no knowledge on what it is.”
“But it will not just be anything,” the Master of the Mouse said insistently, “It will be something ancient and powerful, like a demon, or a misused miraculous. Not a human or a nation.”
“I suggest,” the Master of the Turtle tried again, “That you should bring all of the Miraculous that you have collected back here for safe keeping, until you have found their new users.”
“The first user you will need to find,” the Master of the Dog piped up, “Is the Cat, or if you insist on continuing as the Cat, then the Ladybug.”
The Guardian shook her head and silenced them with a hand, “I will be balanced in two days. I cannot surrender either of them or distribute any others until that happens. And as for storing them here, I believe we have discussed why that would not be possible ad nauseum. Or do I need to repeat the obvious again?”
The Masters all gave their verbal and silent acknowledgments, some a little more reluctantly than others, but all of them agreed. After the senti-monster Feast, the Miracle Box should not remain in the same location as all of the other boxes. As long as their enemies believed that it was there in the temple, and that the Grand Guardian was there, then they would never look for Marinette and the artifacts in her possession. And even if some distant or nearer enemy did manage to break in and steal some of the lesser jewels, then they could search the twisting passages of the labyrinth like temple for ages and never find the true prize. And to top it all off, because the vault where the Miraculous was kept was so confusing, then even after the thieves left, they would never be sure that the Miracle Box wasn’t there. Not everyone liked the strategy, but it had proven effective when the League of Assassin’s had attacked. But that was another story.
The Guardian sighed, and allowed her mask to drop just a little, so that the Masters could see the fatigue and anxiety that had been etched on her shoulders ever since she was thirteen, but not enough for the steel to be gone completely. Here, in the temple, she was a queen and in complete control of her kingdom, and every single one of them knew it.
“Look,” the Guardian said softly, “I know that our current circumstances are…untraditional.” Someone scoffed, probably the Master of the Peacock, but she ignored them, “But I have spoken with the kwami.” A few groaned, but she ignored them as well, the more stubborn, and crusty members of the Order did not like the fact that she regularly consulted with them, but she didn’t care, and she let them know that. “And they have told me that the old traditions have the potential to do more harm than good.
“While they were effective, wise, and prudent during a time when civilization was just getting on its feet, that is not the case anymore. The world has changed, and the rules and traditions we abide by must change with them. The kwami and their powers are fluid, natural beings like the river. Dam the river, and you give the valley a chance to grow and thrive. But if you do not let any of the water out, then eventually the dam will corrode, crack, and burst drowning everything below. But none of this,” she declared gesturing around at the invisible debate around them, “Answers the question of the threat. Which kwami will be needed? When will it come? How can we prevent it? And if we can't prevent it, how do we fight it?”
A collective, quiet muttering descended on the room, and the Guardian said straight backed and silent as she waited for them come to whatever conclusions they were turning in their heads. She didn’t care if those conclusions were about her argument or her questions, so long as someone answered the later. She knew these men. They were good men, and they would follow her when the time came without hesitation. So let them disagree with her. Let them argue with her. So long as the greater problem was solved and the threat dealt with, they could complain about her all they liked. It didn’t change the facts.
She was the bonded Guardian of the Miracle Box. In the end, she was their leader, and that was that. In the end it was Su-Han who spoke and quieted the mutterings, “We cannot know when it will come. And we cannot prevent it. This is why that…sensation, is also called the ‘Universe’s Call’ because it is something inevitable. Something of destiny.”
“We all felt it,” The Master of the Snake said softly, “Which means---but this is not certain, that all of us will be needed.”
“Once your day of balance comes and goes,” The Master of the Bee said calmly, “You should at least find users of the main five, including the Cat, or Ladybug. As you choose them.”
“Guardian,” The Master of the Moth said softly, he was always kinder to her than some of the others. “If I might offer you some advice on that subject?”
The Guardian smiled gently and nodded. He was the only one who asked to give her his wisdom without trying to force it on her, “Find a user who is like yourself. A fluid soul that can be both order and chaos. If you do, then you will not need to fight for balance, and take the ring away. Once the threat is dealt with, you and your partner can work in tandem, exchanging the jewels as you see fit, and there by becoming more powerful than you could ever be alone. As they were meant to be.”
“It has long been theorized,” the Master of the Turtle said thoughtfully, “That the Ladybug and Cat were meant to be exchanged among fluid souls, and not just one who is pure order, and one who is pure chaos. But the old Masters were too frightened by what such a pair could become.”
“We cannot stop that now,” The Master of the Rabbit declared casually, “A fluid soul has been bouncing between order and chaos for ten years now. If you are to maintain the balance efficiently, and correctly, then Guardian I must agree, you need a fluid soul. Like yours.”
 All of the Masters gave their verbal consent to this, and the Guardian was almost stunned completely out of her mask. The only time they had ever agreed on something unanimously was when the League of Assassin’s had been banging on their door. She shook her head and sighed saying, “And where would I even begin to find such a soul?”
“ACHOO!”
“Bless you,” Red Robin said with an amused smirk. “What’s wrong Nightwing, you comin’ down with something.”
“No,” Nightwing said rubbing his nose passively, “It’s probably just the air. That or someone’s thinking about me.”
“Tt, in annoyance,” Robin muttered, and Red Hood could be heard cackling over the comms.
“Focus,” Batman groaned from the other side of the warehouse they were all about to converge on. “Nightwing see Agent A when we get back. For now, Oracle, report.”
“Two Face just walked in and he’s got the package. Bane is moving into position now, eta 5 minutes.”
“Nobody jinx us!” Spoiler hissed, before anyone could say something stupid like, “And then we’ll have two rogues for the price of one.”
“Tt, do not be ridiculous,” Robin began, but Nightwing distracted him by saying,
“Hey Catwoman, where’s your student? Shouldn’t she be here for family bonding? I mean she is your family right?”
Selina gave an amused chuckle saying, “Why do you ask? Miss her already?”
Dick groaned internally, realizing what he had just done. In preventing a fight and other related superstitious mayhem, he had sacrificed himself to their mockery and close observation. Now whenever he saw Marinette again there would be no escape. “No,” he shot back, “I just want to make sure she’s not jetting off to steal the Mona Lisa or something.”
“Shame on you Nightwing,” Catwoman cried in mock offense, “My kitten would never steal something so precious before finishing my wedding dress, and especially not without me!”
“Implying that she would steal it,” Red Robin said suspiciously.
“And that you would help her,” Batman growled.
“Now, now, you too,” Catwoman chided, “I was only half joking.”
“Meaning you were half serious,” Robin said.
“But about which half?” Spoiler mused.
“Time,” Orphan cut in.
“She’s right,” Oracle said, “Time to move.”

Daminette December 2022: 5-Storybook
NOTE: This is a LONG post and is based off Princess Mononoke by Studio Ghibli. If you have not seen it, the movie will be SPOILED below!!!!
There once was a prince named Ashitaka. His village was attacked by what they believed to be a disgusting demon. The grass around it died. The woods, rotted. No one dared to touch it. The prince fought and used his bows and arrows to defeat the beast, but a part of his arm was touched by the beast. As the prince shot the beast, it was revealed to be a Boar God.
"A boar?" a boy questioned.
Marinette looked at her son, "A giant wild pig who lives in forests."
The boar cursed the humans and the prince, right before he died. Prince Ashitaka was seen by the wise sage. She told him he was cursed, laying a giant ball of metal in front of him. She explained the ball had caused the boar to rampage and curse him. He would have to leave the village and travel a great distance to find the source. She told him, the curse would make him strong, but it could also kill him. The prince named someone else as the village's leader and left.
"Why did he give up being a prince?" Malik asked.
"In case if he didn’t come back." Marinette frowned.
Ashitaka found a monk during his travels. The monk told him he might be able to get help from the Great Forest Spirit.
"What did the forest spirit look like?" the boy asked, rubbing his eyes.
"It looked like a deer, but only during the morning. That was when it was a God" She answered, "At night, it turned into a giant. It's footprints could create new ponds and lakes."
There once was a girl, who lived in the forest. Her name was San. She lived with the wolves. She helped protect the forest and the animals in it.
"Like Daddy?" Malik questioned.
"Almost." Marinette giggled, "While your daddy loves animals, the forest had animals Grandpa wouldn't let Daddy keep."
Malik laughed.
This was the first time Ashitaka met San. He was rescuing people that San was fighting against. They were from a nearby village. Their leader was named Lady Eboshi. She shot the wolf goddess, Moro. It was also the same time he saw a peek at the Great Forest Spirit.
"Why was San fighting other people and why did the mean lady shoot the wolf?" Malik asked.
Marinette smiled, "Remember, San is protecting the forest. As for the lady, we'll find out more about her as the story continues."
"But why was San protecting the forest?" Malik seemed confused.
"The forest had magic." his mother spoke.
"Magic? Grandpa doesn't like magic." the youngest Wayne replied.
"I know, but all magic isn't bad." Mari answered, "This magic protected a secret and she protected it. She kept all people out of the forest."
"But she was in it." he whined.
Ashitaka and the people he saved, went to the nearby village. It was a village full of outcasts and sick people. They were helping Lady Eboshi build weapons; guns. While Ashitaka was there, he learned that those people destroyed forests to find the metal to make the weapons. They were the ones who had hurt the Boar God. Lady Eboshi admitted to shooting the God, turning him into the demon that attacked his village. The former prince asked about the wolf girl. Eboshi called her Princess Mononoke; she was raised by wolves and hated humans.
"Like Tarzan or Mowgli!" he said, excited, "They adopted her, like Grandpa does!
Marinette smiled, understanding the reference from Dick's demand to watch Disney movies. Mari had to stop herself from laughing when Bruce got involved.
"Yes." she answered, "Just like that."
Now, the Wolf Princess got into the village and tried to kill the lady. Ashitaka took it upon himself to stop their fight. During the fight, one of the villagers shot him. Thanks to the curse, he was able to carry San out of the village. When she woke up, she tried to kill the former prince. He said two words to her and she stopped. During the night, he was healed by the Forest Spirit, so she decided to trust him.
"What did he tell her?" Malik questioned.
"You're beautiful." Marinette answered.
"That stopped her?" he asked.
"She had never been called beautiful before." his mother declared, "She didn't know how to react."
The boar clan decided to get revenge for their God and attacked the village. Unfortunately, the boar leading the charge was blind. The villagers were able to kill the rest of the clan and disguised themselves as another boar. The blind boar was really hurt. The villagers tricked him and told him to go to get healed by the Great Forest Spirit. San tried to stop the boar, but he was in a lot of pain and slowly turning into a demon. When they got to the pool, the spirit set Moro and the blind boar free. Night settled and the Forest Spirit began to transform into the giant. Eboshi quickly cut off the spirit's head and the monk stole it. Anything the body the touched, it killed the land.
"Like at the beginning of the story." Malik interrupted.
"Yes." Marinette frowned.
The forest and the magic began to die. The Wolf Goddess' briefly came alive and bit off Eboshi's arm in revenge. Upset, San tried to started to fight with Eboshi again. Ashitake stopped San and helped her grieve. He told her not to give up. Ashitake and San decided it was better to go after the monk and get the Forest Spirit's head back. The monk had wanted it for money. The Forest Spirit, unfortunately, died, but his body also healed the land and lifted Ashitaka's curse. The former prince decided to stay in the village and rebuild it better with Lady Eboshi. He promised San he would visit her in the forest. Soon, the forest began to regrow and the magic returned, slowly.
"Over time, they passed away and were reborn into new people. It was a coincidence that they met at a martial arts tournament. The prince was overconfident in his abilities, as he had trained from a young age. He thought he could easily win." Marinette continued.
"The girl won?" Malik questioned.
"Yep." his mother smiled, "When she put the bo staff to his neck, he looked at his opponent and called her beautiful. Suddenly, they both fainted."
"Were they okay?" he asked.
"Yes. They remembered their past life together. They remembered the forest and the magic." she answered, "When they woke up, their families had surrounded them. They had been so worried when she suddenly collapsed and neither of them had moved. To every ones confusion, the girl got up and kissed the boy she had won against."
"I have lived a thousand lifetimes to find you again." the boy stated.
"And I would live a thousand more to have one more chance." she replied.
"What is going on?" a friend asked.
"We remember our past lives with each other." the boy answered.
"This time," Marinette spoke, "it was the boy who had grown up feral and vowed to protect the woods and animals. He said a part of himself must have remembered her."
Malik smiled, "Did they have any wolves this time?"
"No, but the boy had some dogs." she answered.
"Like Ace and Titus." he smiled.
"Yes." she replied.
"What happened to them?" Malik asked, "The prince and the wolf girl?"
"They lived far apart from each other so they decided to stay in contact." Mari declared, "When they were old enough, they got married."
"Who is getting married?" a voice spoke from the doorway.
"Daddy!" Malik shouted, running up to his father and hugging him.
Damian picked up his son and hugged him, tight. He then walked over to his wife and kissed her.
"Ew." their son voiced, sticking out his tongue.
Damian chuckled, "Who was getting married?"
"Mommy was telling me a story before bedtime." Malik answered, pointing at the book.
Damian looked at what book Marinette had in her hands, if you could call it that. It was hand written notes that had been laminated, so the pages wouldn't fade, and placed in a binder. It was the book they had both created to keep their story alive.
"What is going on?" someone shouted.
"I thought you were in love with Adrien." shouted a girl.
"Little D, who is she?" Dick asked.
"She's my other half." Damian answered.
"Demon Spawn," Jason groaned, "you're not making any sense. You've never even met her before!"
Marinette laughed, "I thought I was the demon between us."
"A lot has changed in a thousand years, My Love." the Wayne heir declared.
"A thousand years?" an elder woman asked.
"Damian," Bruce spoke up, "does this have anything to do with your mother?"
"No, Father." he replied.
"You could call us soulmates." Marinette responded, "Us fighting, him saying those words; we remembered everything since we last met."
He could see the doubt on many peoples' faces.
"When was that?" asked a blonde boy.
"Before technology." Mari answered.
"Firearms were a new invention." he continued.
"Humans still used fire and burned forests to solve their problems." his soulmate growled out.
He could only chuckle, "I became an advocate for the environment. I must have subconsciously remembered how much you love the forest."
Marinette giggled, "What else?"
"Father doesn't let me have exotic animals." he sighed.
"How exotic?" she questioned, leaning in.
"Panthers." he spoke, looking her in the eye.
"How about some wolves?" she teased.
"I have a dog." Damian smirked.
"Close enough." Marinette smiled, before kissing him again.
"Ah, that story." Damian spoke, "It's one of my favorites."
"Really?" Malik asked.
Damian nodded.
"We just finished reading the storybook and now, it's bedtime." Marinette declared.
"Do you think grandpa would let us have a wolf?" Malik questioned, looking hopeful.
Damian chuckled, "I've asked; the answer was no."
Their son pouted.
Marinette smiled, "That doesn't stop you from dreaming of wolves and being friends with them; even running with them."
"Can I meet a real wolf?" he pleaded.
Mrs. Wayne looked up to the ceiling, "If I remember correctly, there is a wolf preserve that allows people to meet wolves. It's in a different state."
"Where?" Damian demanded.
"I'll look it up, but I think the wolves were raised as dogs and when people realized it was a hybrid or a wolf, they were given up to shelters." she answered, "They're all domesticated so they didn't want to damage them any further or risk them getting hurt."
"Can we go see the wolves?" their son asked.
"Yes." Damian immediately answered.
"Can I ride it, like the wolf girl?" he questioned.
"I don't know about that." Mari smiled, "We can visit, but we can't keep it."
Malik pouted.
"I know." Damian spoke, "Your mother is as mean as Grandfather."
Marinette let out an overdramatic gasp, making her husband chuckle and their son laugh. Mari and Damian kissed their son goodnight and closed the door, behind them.
"Did you tell him the whole story?" he questioned.
"No." she replied, "I only told him bits and pieces. The story will get longer as he gets older. When he's old enough, he'll be able to read the whole thing and see out notes to each other."
Damian quickly snatched up his wife, gaining a tiny scream from her mouth. He smirked at her blushing red face. Marinette glared at his smug face.
"I'll cut your throat. That will shut you up!" she growled.
"You're beautiful." Damian replied.
Marinette whimpered and buried her face in the crook of his neck.
"I still don't know how you get me flustered with two words." she mumbled.
Damian smiled as he carried the Princess Mononoke book and his wife to their room.

I have a list of Final Fantasy Miraculous users. Sorry for big "Ask." I tried to go more off their personality than their Miraculous (both yours and in-canon), but it did have an effect on a few of them.

BDBWM Day 20 | Secrets
original prompt | complete masterlist
TW: Blood and violence
Someone who’s not supposed to be here is in Gotham.
Her timer for the fox is already beeping, thanks to a spur-of-the-moment prank she decided to pull earlier that night. Inari grits her teeth and runs from the stranger. It’s okay. I still have the Black Cat on.
Robe clothing. Graying hair. Mysterious symbol on his back. It’s from the Order of the Guardians. Inari strayed away from watching her family only to encounter the monk. Even if she’s wearing two Miraculouses, the old man from the Order is armed with lethal training, determined to take her Miraculouses.
She gasps for air a couple of rooftops away, spotting Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin beating up criminals in a nearby street. The monk stops on his tracks, follows her gaze, and changes direction to head towards the vigilantes.
“NO!” She yells and goes after him. She knows her brothers can take care of themselves, but she’s not taking any chances. The assailant might be armed with magic or a Miraculous for all she knows.
She tackles the monk to the ground, unfortunately exposing herself in front of her brothers. She feels jabs to her stomach, kicks to her shoulder as she exchanges blows with her moment. Whatever is being taught back in the temple, it counters Miraculous strength well.
Inari trips on her feet, crashing to the ground. The fox necklace beeps its last and she gets washed with a light, left with her black cat transformation.
“Trixx, hide!” she hisses at the kwami, who’s quick to obey. She aims a punch at the monk’s face but he blocks it, pinning her onto the ground.
Her inner voice frantically protests when he starts to slide the ring off her finger. Stop! No, no, no! I can’t lose a Miraculous! I can’t—She feels fingers curl around her throat as both the chokehold and her panic make it hard to breathe.
There’s a stinging on her abdomen. But she ignores it and pushes up to grab the ring back. Scrambling back into an upright position, she pulls on the attacker’s legs and snatches the fallen ring he accidentally lets go of. At the same time, he pulls hard at her necklace, successfully taking it and leaving a crimson mark around her skin.
Marinette tries to chase after him when he runs off but realizes that she can’t. Looking down, she sees her arm pressed up against her middle. Red. Wet. Painful. A blade sticks out from her. When? I hadn’t noticed . . . She fights for her consciousness, falling to the ground.
The last thing she feels is the ring still tightly clenched around her fist.
And the last thing she sees are her unmasked brothers shouting and rushing towards her.

IOTA Reviews: Multiplication
Tumblr media
So, as flawed as the last episode was, it showed this season could have potential. Ladybug and Cat Noir had great teamwork, there were hints on more insight into Gabriel's backstory, and the conflict actually seems to be going somewhere this season. Do you think this episode will try to maintain this more serious tone? Eh... not really...
Let's get into the second (chronologically the second) episode of Miraculous Ladybug's fifth season: Multiplication
We start off right where the previous episode ended, with Ladybug telling Cat Noir about how Felix betrayed her, but Cat Noir, continuing to use that thing in his head most people call the brain, realizes this means that Felix and Monarch are connected somehow. However, just as they prepare to confront Felix, Master Su-Han appears to once again yell about how much Ladybug sucks at her job, because the writers don't know what else to do with the character. Su-Han raises a decent point about how dangerous Monarch is now, but after Ladybug and Cat Noir point out that they already got back the Rabbit Miraculous and plan to do the same with the other fourteen, he just breaks down crying and apologizes while the writers show us how little they know about a monk's lifestyle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes. This is actually the show's explanation for why Su-Han barely appeared last season. Way to make my opinion of a character I already didn't like sink to an even lower than before.
At least in “Ephemeral”, Su-Han still had some semblance of dignity to him when he admitted he was wrong, but here, the writers just chose to make him into a complete joke. I mean, don't get me wrong, he is a constant reminder of how stupid the Order of the Guardians was, but the previous season at least tried to establish him as a more stern mentor for Ladybug. For Su-Han in this episode, they're saying that a disciplined monk, you know, the people who don't obsess over material possessions or act on their own selfish impulses, got distracted by modern technology and neglected to actually help Ladybug and Cat Noir in their battle against Shadowmoth unless he had to yell at them. The writers seriously managed to make Season 4 Cat Noir look more responsible by comparison, as he at least bothered to show up to more Akuma fights than Su-Han did.
And just like in “Ephemeral”, this is an extremely condensed version of what “Furious Fu” did. Su-Han once again comes to bitch and moan about how Ladybug isn't breathing right, he's called out for being an asshole, and immediately apologizes while any reasonable points he made are now irrelevant. What is even the point of his character when all he does is yell at Ladybug and learn the same lesson over and over again? Wouldn't it have made more sense for Su-Han to join Ladybug and Cat Noir on their chase after Monarch last episode instead of this scene? Even the writers don't see the point in the character, as Su-Han leaves to get reinforcements from the Order of the Guardians. Given how they couldn't even stop an out of control Sentimonster (Feast), we're obviously in good hands here.
Ladybug and Cat Noir transform into their space forms, Cosmobug and Astro Cat respectively, and fly over to London to confront Felix. When they get to his house, only his mother, Amelie, is there, and claims that he mysteriously went missing. So without a lead, they're back to square one for now. The two heroes fly back to Paris, and we get a really good pair of scenes featuring Marinette and Adrien.
With Marinette, she's alone in her room, she's imagining the Kwamis playing around and laughing, but knows they aren't really there as she goes to put away the box where she hides the Miracle Ball. Marinette tries to put on a brave face for Tikki, but almost immediately calls Alya to see if she can sleep over for the night. There's some great shading here, Marinette has some great facial expressions, and other than Marinette calling Alya, there's no dialogue, letting the scene speak for itself.
As for Adrien, he's shown to regret the fact that he let Felix manipulate him so easily and points out that he should have listened to Marinette. He takes her words into consideration and goes to tell Gabriel that he doesn't want to be a model anymore, finally speaking up for himself, and as a result, Gabriel is perfectly fine with it. It's another good scene that adds more depth to Adrien's character.
Alya tries to reassure Marinette that it wasn't her fault Felix tricked her, but their conversation quickly devolves into Alya saying how close Marinette is with Adrien, because the writers want to once again remind the audience that the two are totally made for each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh wow, they hung out a handful of times! This clearly means they would make a great couple.
Is this really the priority at the moment, writers? Marinette was talking about how dangerous Monarch is now that he has fourteen more Miraculous in his possession all because she screwed up, and now you're having Alya talk about how Marinette's feelings for Adrien are a good thing now? You did such a good job illustrating the stress Marinette is going through in her last scene, and now you're back to making jokes about her crush on Adrien at her expense? What's even worse is than when Marinette makes the reasonable decision to stop trying to be with Adrien, Alya has this to say.
Tumblr media
Yeah, I specifically remember you trying to get Marinette to go after her again, like when you and Nino teamed up to force them to get together in the New York Special, and when you told her to go after Adrien after Kagami dumped him in “Mr. Pigeon 72”. She was clearly trying to move on in those instances, yet you still insisted that Adrienette could still be canon. It's honestly even worse here because Marinette specifically said her crush on Adrien was the reason Felix was able to trick her (putting aside the fact that she was marked by Risk, but this is what the narrative is saying right now), yet Alya is trying to convince her not to give up on Adrien... when it hasn't even been a day since the betrayal. This is anything but the priority at the moment, yet Alya continues to badger Marinette instead of understanding she's trying to sacrifice her personal feelings for the greater good.
And when Adrien conveniently calls Marinette while she and Alya are talking, Alya answers Marinette's phone for her and keeps teasing her for her crush on Adrien, because I guess since Alya lost the Fox Miraculous, she's just trying to see what will cause Marinette to snap and cut off all ties with her. When Adrien tells Marinette and Alya he's not going to be a model anymore, he tells Marinette how much she's supposedly helped him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Uh... no.
Putting aside how little time Marinette and Adrien have actually spent in the past four seasons, for the most part, Adrien has mostly been giving Marinette advice (Kung Food, Makediktator, Chameleon). Sure, Marinette has done stuff for Adrien before (The Collector, Gorizilla, Simpleman), but she's almost never given him advice on how to handle certain problems outside of the Season 4 finale, and even then, she only did so because everyone else was too stupid to see how miserable he looked. The writers keep trying to make up for how little Marinette and Adrien have interacted by making these broad strokes in saying that they're closer than it seems, but fail to properly build up these moments, and as a result, moments where Adrien thanking Marinette for everything she's done look incredibly forced.
And the worst part? After four seasons, this is what causes Adrien to develop feelings for Marinette.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that Adrien is finally considering Marinette in a romantic light for reasons that don't relate to her being Ladybug, but there's not really a lot of weight to this. We don't see Adrien really think about how Marinette has been around him, or how this affects his feelings for Ladybug. The most we see is him think about how he should have taken her advice, and somehow, that translates to Adrien being in love with Marinette now, to the point where he tries to kiss her in a later scene. This honestly could have worked, but the writers really botched the execution here. This isn't even infuriating at this point. I'm just rolling my eyes at the obvious attempt to shake up the Love Square dynamic after doing nothing to change it for four seasons.
Right when Adrien goes to bed, we see Nathalie is still there and smiles at Adrien, because I guess she wanted to give Gabriel her two weeks notice instead of quitting on the spot. The next day, we see the writers just don't care about the identity rule anymore as Alim, Alix's father tells the class that his daughter is a superhero. Because it's not like he could have said she was visiting family in another country.
The class then talks about Monarch's growing threat, and Chloe raises a decent point that because Ladybug and Cat Noir won't give him their Miraculous, they're all in danger. Remember, only Ladybug, Cat Noir, the Kwamis, and Monarch himself know about what the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous can really do, so as far as the rest of Paris knows, the two heroes could stop him from endangering innocent lives. It's an interesting idea to see more people question the battle Ladybug and Cat Noir are waging against Monarch, but because Chloe is saying this, we're automatically supposed to disagree with her, as she makes the same old “Queen Bee is better!” joke that the writers keep reusing while forgetting to mention she's an ally of Monarch. And for some reason, Lila is the one to refute Chloe's claims that Ladybug made a mistake, not someone like Alya or Adrien. Again, this debate could have worked, yet because it's Lila defending Ladybug, we don't know how genuine she's being here.
We then get a montage showing two weeks passing in Paris, and it's a pretty decent sequence. Yeah, Adrien trying to kiss Marinette multiple times instead of confessing his feelings for her is uncomfortable to watch (especially since “Felix” claimed the real Adrien would never force a kiss on anyone), but we also get to see Ladybug and Cat Noir looking out for Akumas, and the civilians start preparing for whatever Monarch does next. Mylene teaches yoga to help people stay calm and avoid being akumatized, while Alya's older sister Nora teaches Alya and Nino how to box and defend themselves. It's one of the few times in the show that we see the people try to get ready for Monarch's onslaught. Of course, later into the montage, we see less people get invested in the preparations, which I guess is meant to justify why people will still get akumatized this season. Either that, or it's showing the civilians have gotten bored waiting Adrien also models for something, even though Gabriel said it was cool for him to stop modeling, as does Lila. It's a decent sequence of events, topped by showing Ladybug and Cat Noir playing cards to pass the time one day.
Two weeks later, after Marinette once again tries to avoid Adrien bluntly trying to kiss her (which comes across like a joke from the 1950's, not the 2020's), we finally see the first Akuma for the season, Ikari Gozen, the akumatized form of Kagami's mother, Tomoe, supposedly wanting to make a more “modern” city.
Tumblr media
Ikari Gozen's design is... eh... I mean, the color scheme looks decent, but it honestly looks like a knockoff of Riposte. I also don't get why Tomoe is fused with her limo to look like a centaur, or why despite being blind, she can just see now. I just think if she stayed blind and had other dangerous powers to compensate for it, it would have made her stood out from other Akumas. However, unlike past seasons that lazily reused past Akumas, I actually like the idea of them reusing her here. Remember, in her episode, Ladybug and Cat Noir needed the help of Ryuko to defeat her, and now, they don't have that option. It does a great job establishing how tough the battle will be.
While she initially doubts herself again, Marinette transforms into Ladybug after a quick pep talk from Alya and Tikki, while Adrien transforms into Cat Noir. The two group up and obviously struggle against the giant robot samurai centaur. Cat Noir tries to Cataclysm Ikari Gozen's sword (where the Akuma was last time), but just as Ladybug manages to immobilize her, Ikari Gozen uses Multiplication, the power of the Mouse Miraculous, creating an army of slightly smaller, yet still giant, clones of herself. So not only is the already uphill battle going to be even harder, it means that this season, the Akumas will have powers of the Miraculous in Monarch's possession. I'll get to my feelings on this towards the end of the review.
After avoiding the Ikari Gozen Corps' wrath, Ladybug summons her Lucky Charm, a fishing pole, and manages to come up with a quick plan. She lures the clones to the local school where she tricks one of the Ikari Gozen clones into thrusting her sword into a room where it gets caught thanks to a trap set by Cat Noir, using the fishing pole's string and his own staff, making it easy for him to Cataclysm the sword.
After de-evilizing the Akuma, Ladybug asks Tomoe if she has the Mouse Miraculous, but she doesn't have it. Ladybug that Monarch somehow transferred the power of the Mouse Miraculous into the Akuma, uses Miraculous Ladybug to fix the damage and even though they're completely pointless now, she also gives Tomoe a Magical Charm. Once Ladybug and Cat Noir leave, Tomoe gives Gabriel a call.

Yeah, I really don't get what the writers were going for here. This is clearly supposed to be a shocking reveal, and it had a little foreshadowing during the montage earlier, but we just don't know enough about Tomoe as a character to get invested in her suddenly being a villain now. At least Chloe and Lila were already put in antagonistic roles before they got involved with Gabriel's schemes, but the only “evil” thing Tomoe has done was act like a strict mother towards Kagami, who doesn't even appear in this episode. From her dialogue as Ikari Gozen, it's hinted she wants to create a technological utopia, but I guess that's going to be yet another mystery set up this season.
We then get to see a presentation by Gabriel, dressed in what can only be described as Colonel Sanders' prom suit.
Tumblr media
He's promoting a new product called Alliance, a high-tech ring with an Akuma alert app and an Alexa-esque AI installed, with Adrien and Lila serving as the avatars for the latter program. Since Tomoe used the ring to contact Gabriel in the previous scene, as well as the fact that the opening featured Monarch wearing several multicolored rings in place of the other Miraculous he was seen wearing in “Evolution”, it’s implied this is how Monarch will give his Akumas the various powers the Miraculous have.
I'm... pretty mixed on the overall idea of this. I like the idea of combining supernatural elements with technology, but this is once again something that feels redundant once you remember everything the Butterfly Miraculous can do. In Season 1, there were three separate Akumas that already had the same powers as some of the Miraculous (Copycat, Antibug, Volpina), and Season 2 had an Akuma with the power to multiply itself already (Sapotis), so this new gimmick honestly feels redundant. Maybe later episodes will show Akumas utilizing multiple Miraculous powers, but I don't get why Monarch couldn't give his Akumas powers like this before he got fourteen other Miraculous.
It turns out that this promotional campaign was the final job Adrien had to do, as Gabriel was okay with him not wanting to be a model anymore. However, like the scene with Lila earlier, it's hard to really tell if Gabriel is being genuine or not. When it seems like the episode is about to end, we get a post-credits scene where we learn that Felix's plan to escape Ladybug and Cat Noir was to just hide out in his house while his mother says he isn't there. It's not clear how much Amelie knows of Felix's intentions right now, as she tells him she thinks the heroes believe he's a villain (because what's a few years in prison for harboring a fugitive, am I right?), but Felix waits until she's out of the room to take out the Peacock Miraculous. After putting on the Peacock Miraculous, Duusu, the Kwami connected to said Miraculous, meets Felix and asks if he's his new carrier, to which Felix ominously replies that “He's much more than that”, giving one last evil face to remind the audience that he's evil before we cut to black.
Tumblr media
So yeah, Astruc’s seriously going forward and making Felix a villain just because he hates the PV that much. This should be a fun season for PV fans to suffer through sit through.
Honestly, this episode was just... okay. It did a decent job at setting up some of the character arcs and plotlines, showed more fallout to the events of the Season 4 finale, as well as showing the civilians' perspective on the current conflict. Even the Akuma fight, as short as it was, was a pretty enjoyable sequence. The scenes where Marinette and Adrien realized their own faults in the cause of their current situation was very well-written, and just like last episode, it's nice to see Ladybug and Cat Noir not constantly bickering and actually acting like superheroes after last season.
Of course, there were still a lot of dumb moments, specifically in the first act. Su-Han's one scene felt less like a humorous way to explain his absence during the fourth season, and more like the writers admitting they had no idea what to do with the character other than yelling at Marinette before writing him off yet again. As for Alix's situation, it really feels like the writers care less and less about the secret identity rule every season, and didn't even try to think of a clever way to explain where Alix was to the other students without jeopardizing the timeline. But the worst part has to be the way Adrienette is portrayed here. While I wouldn't say Adrien was outright insufferable in this episode, the way he acted on his newly developed feelings for Marinette was pretty uncomfortable. Seriously, he just expected Marinette, whether she also had feelings for him or not, to be perfectly okay with him trying to force a kiss on her, and kept doing it for about two weeks. Even “Cat Blanc” had Adrien talk to Marinette about his feelings for her instead of trying to smooch her on the spot. This part of the montage felt less like a scene from a romantic movie, and more like when Metallo tried to force Lois Lane to kiss him in that one episode of Superman: The Animated Series. But where that episode established Metallo was a degenerate hedonist who was obviously portrayed as being in the wrong, Adrien doing what's almost the same thing is something we're supposed to find funny. How in God's name did any broadcaster think this would be okay to show audiences, much less children?
Overall, despite a handful of bumps, this was a pretty serviceable episode that managed to set up a lot of stuff for the season, and compared to episodes where Seasons 3 and 4 set up their plotlines, it's more impressive than you might think.
THE BIGGEST IDIOT OF THE EPISODE IS... ALYA
Tumblr media
She clearly failed to understand the stress Marinette was under after losing all of the other Miraculous a few hours ago, and instead chose to spend more time teasing her best friend for her crush on Adrien instead of understanding her decision to try and move on in order to focus on the bigger picture and stop Monarch. Not only did she also give up on her boxing lessons during the montage when she doesn’t have the Fox Miraculous anymore, but she also tried to help Adrien force a kiss on Marinette by restraining her one time, which is also played for laughs because the writers don't understand what the word “boundaries” means. The little pep talk she gave Marinette wasn't nearly enough to salvage her actions this episode.

I'd like y'all to meet my (sorta persona?) main oc (with each fandom she gets added into, I'll add it to this post, and this post only, so I don't clog up my entire blog with just my silly ocs and my fanfics don't get hidden cause of it :3
feel free to ask me questions about the girls ^^ I love answering them

the picture on the left her normal form while the other her complete overlord transformation form. the little wings on her head are actually just hair clips, though :3
since I suck at names, I simply gave her mine (cordelia) but I dunno if I'll change it later down the line or not :shrug: but moving on: she's the second in command overlord for cannibal town, despite not being on herself. she's just best friends with rosie and enjoys the more peaceful side of hell.
as you can see, she grows an extra pair of wings, which is because she's technically a angel that was cast down from heaven for breaking a few rules, but she lies about being a angel and just plays it off as being a bird demon (like how vaggie is a moth demon, and alastor: a deer) and only a select few know the truth ^^

once again, the picture on the left is her everyday casual outfit while the picture on the right is her hero outfit. she doesn't hold a kwamii from the current miracle box, but she was raised in the guardian temple, and has one of the older miraculouses from a different box, miyuu: the kwamii of love. the animal the kwamii's based off of is a lioness, but since she was raised by the monks, she doesn't really need the extra transformation. her super power is roar! she has a sonic screams that can shatter glass and have a lot of force behind them, and only affects those she wants it too (so no friendly fire going on) and she can change how intense the roar itself is.
detransformed, she's friends with adrien, chloe, and kagami, though mostly only stays by adrien's side (which is how she me the other two) speaking of meeting, her adoptive mother is natalie who found her during the timeline after season 3 episode 16, feast! natalie took her into the agreste mansion and has been her caregiver since.
she dislikes marinette, since she gives her a weird vibe (rightfully so) and lila, as she hates how she tricked adrien multiple times, but she doesn't really have major opinions about anyone else besides those two
since Marinette told alya about her secret identity, I feel like ladybug would have told chat noir he could tell one person to help handle the weight of the responsibility (or she would have if she wasn't such a bitch...) and this lucky lady would be that person! she had suspicions early on, since they have rooms right next to each other, but she never said anything in case she was wrong ^^
