Y/N and Loki had been best friends for a couple of years now. They met when her mother, a close friend of Frigga, accepted the invitation to move to Asgard and live with them. Loki and Y/N were 5 at the time ant that was 3 years ago. Now they’re 8 years old.
Y/N had a nightmare that night and woke up scared, so she decided to go to her best friend’s room, like she usually did when she was scared. She knocked on his door, gently. Loki was laying on his bed, sobbing on his pillow, but when he heard a knock on his door, he sat up and tried to stop crying. Y/N didn’t wait for an answer, she knocked and enter his room and went straight to his bed with him. Loki looks over at her and wipes the last of his tears with the back of his hand “W-what do you want?”
“What happened?” She asked worried seeing him cry, her nightmare long forgotten.
“Dad hurt me...” Loki said quietly.
Her face showed pure shock “...what?”
Loki nods, looking down “He...he hit me.”
Y/N hugged the little boy tightly “I’m so sorry, Loki.” He hugged her back, sobbing into her shoulders. “Do you want me to stay with you? Or maybe come to my room?”
He looks at her, his face wet with the tears “I want to come to your room.”
She held his hand as they got off his bed and walked to her room, Loki following her and still shaken. They went to her bed as soon as they entered Y/N’s room and Loki curls up next to her. “I’ll protect you.” She says to her friend.
Loki smiles and closes his eyes, slowly beginning to fall asleep feeling safe with her. Y/N seeing he was peacefully, finally closed her eyes and slept too, with no more nightmares in the night. After that night, they made a habit to sleep together sometimes, but no one really mind since they were only kids.
4 years later
Loki and Y/N were now 12 and they still sleeping close by with Y/N. They are laying on her bed, when she broke the silence. “How was your day?” Loki mumbles something about Odin being mean to him, again. “You should come train with me and Thor. Maybe that could help you relax." She smiles at him.
Loki just nods at her. He didn’t like that much of the idea to train with Thor. Everyone thinks so highly of his brother. They talked for a few more minutes before they decided to sleep. Loki tried once to train with her and his brother, but he didn't like. So, he starts to spend more of his time in the library reading.
3 years later
They're 15 years old now. Loki had gotten taller than Y/N, which was normal, his voice had changed, and he looked more like a man than a boy. Y/N's body was also changing and they're both filled with hormones. Loki got better with his magic and Y/N got better with the fight skills. They still sleep sometimes together, it was a habit by now. But the hormones were starting to act on them.
Loki was reading a book but couldn’t stop thinking of Y/N. He had thought of her a lot recently and had even caught himself fantasizing of her a lot. He tried to keep his mind on the book, but it was hard when he had been thinking about her so much. Then a knock came on the door and interrupted his thoughts.
“Loki?” She called him.
He put down his book and got up then walked over to the door and opened it, looking at her “Yeah?”
“Can I come in?” She looked a little sad.
“Uh, yeah.” he steps aside and opens the door wide enough for her to enter. Y/N follow straight to let her body fall on his bed with a groan. Loki walked and sat next to her with concern on his face “Are you okay?”
“No.”
“Why? What’s wrong?” Loki looked at her with genuine curiosity and concern.
"Sif and your brother keep making fun of me because I never kissed anyone." She rolls her eyes.
Loki thought about it for a minute before a smirk grew on his face “You haven’t kissed anyone at all?”
"Oh, come on, not you too." Y/N says frustrated and looks away.
He chuckles and playfully nudged her shoulder “I’m not making fun of you, I’m just surprised.”
Y/N sighs, sitting and looking at him “Have you?”
Loki turned slightly red “Well… no I haven’t kissed anyone…” Y/N smiles sympathetic at him. Loki was still a little red “B-but have you really never kissed anyone?” He still couldn’t believe it. In his mind Y/N had kissed loads of boys because she was so pretty. She just shakes her head at his question.
He thinks for a second and then speaks “So let me get this right, you have never been kissed and I’ve never been kissed, right?”
“Yeah...” She nods.
Loki thinks for another second then looks back over at her “I have an idea…”
“What is it?” Y/N asks curious at him.
He takes a deep breath and then leans in towards Y/N “Just close your eyes…” She looks at him for a few seconds and then do as he asks. Loki takes a deep breath and then leans in further, so his lips meet hers. It isn’t a very long kiss and is quite short. When it is over Loki looks at her with a blush on his cheeks “So what do you think…”
She he opens her eyes and smiles, with a blushing on her cheeks too "That was...uh, nice."
Loki is still blushing hard and can’t pull his gaze from her “You really think so…?”
Y/N nods "Can we...do it again?"
He can’t contain the blush on his face and his body is practically radiate heat. His eyes are still glued to her face “Yeah definitely…” he leans back in for another kiss. She leans in too, kissing him. Loki’s mind was racing with thoughts. He never thought this would happen, especially when the person he’s kissing is Y/N. It was incredible, better than anything he had imagined in his fantasies. He holds her waist, pulling her closer to him as he kissed her.
Loki moans softly into the kiss as the heat escalate, his body reacting to the heat between them. His hands move up her back, tangling in her hair as he deepens the kiss. He can feel himself growing hard against his pants and he breaks the kiss, gasping for air “We should stop.”
Y/N could feel herself getting wet with just kissing Loki, but she agreed “Yeah, we should.”
He nods, running his hand through his hair. He can feel the adrenaline coursing through his veins. This was unlike anything he had ever experienced before. He knows they need to stop before things go too far “Do you want to sleep here tonight...?”
“Sure.” She smiles while she tries to recover from that hot kiss.
Loki smiles back, laying down in the bed and patting the space next to him for her to lay down next to him. She does it and he pulls her close to him and hugs her tightly as he closes his eyes.
“Loki?” She called him in a whisper.
He opens his eyes and then looks at her “Yeah?”
"We're not gonna tell about this to anyone, right?"
Loki nods “Yeah definitely. I mean, there’s no reason for anyone to know about it. And I doubt you’d want just anyone to know about this.”
"Yeah. Just two friends helping each other." She says smiling. Loki nods again and looks back down, closing his eyes. Y/N does the same and they soon fell asleep.
3 years later
Loki and Y/N were now 18. Loki’s body had changed a lot since he was younger. He was more muscular than he was back then, and his face had matured to the point where he didn’t look like a little boy, but a man. Y/N also changed in those years. She looked like a grown woman now and it she was becoming one of the best fighters on the realm.
Loki was laying in his bed and staring at the ceiling, thinking about things that were not that important. He heard a knock at his door, and he sighed, getting up to answer it. He looked at Y/N standing there for a few seconds, her beauty striking him a little bit.  “Hey, you’re just back from training?”
"Yeah. I beat Sif's ass all the time today." She laughs getting in his room, dropping her sword closer to his door.
He grins “Damn, that’s pretty impressive. I’m surprised she didn’t tell you off or complain about you being better than her.”
"How said she didn't?" Y/N laughs.
“And I assume you gave her a good comeback, like saying how you’re better than her?” Loki laughed too.
“Something like that.” She says still laughing. “Can I use your shower? Mine’s not working.”
Loki tilts his head in curiosity but then nods “Sure, go ahead. There’s soap right next to the shower and a towel is on the floor next to it too.”
"Thanks." She smiles and enters his bathroom. After a few minutes, Loki heard the shower being turned off. But then Y/N appears on the door with only a towel "Can I borrow one of your shirts? I forgot to bring my clothes."
Loki looks at her, his eyes trailing down her body. He could see the outline of her breasts through the towel and feel a familiar stirring in his pants. He nods, standing up and grabbing a shirt from his dresser “Here you go.”
"Thanks." She smiles "Maybe one of your boxers too?"
Loki blinks caught off guard by her request. His heart races and his breathing hitches. He hesitates for a moment but then nods slowly, grabbing a pair of boxers from his drawer. He hands them to her with clumsy fingers. “Here.”
"Thanks." She smiles and goes to the bathroom to get changed. She exits the clean clothes she’s borrow. Loki stares at her as she walks back into the room. He can't help but notice how sexy she looks in just his shirt and boxers. His mind races with thoughts of all the things he could do to her, all the ways he could touch her. Y/N lays by his side on the bed.
Loki glances at her with a smirk “You look cute in my shirt.”
She chuckles "Thanks."
He can feel her body pressing against him, and he can't help but respond. His hand finds its way to her thigh, slowly moving upward. “What are you thinking about?”
His touch sent shivers down her body "Sif and I were talking today about...some things."
Loki nods and then leans closer to her “What sort of things…?”
“Personal things...”
He thinks for a moment and then speaks softly “can you tell me…?”
Y/N chuckles and nods "She was telling me about her first time."
Loki’s interest is piqued, and he raises his eyebrow “and…?”
"I don’t know, I was just...wondering about things.” Y/N looks at him, a small blush on her face “Have you...did you already...Have you ever had sex?"”
Loki turns red and he blushes “uhm well no….”
“Really? But you’re a prince.” She smiles.
He shrugs and blushes even harder “well, have you…?”
“...no.” She blushes.
Loki turns to her and looks her in the eye “So you haven’t…ever?”
"No. Why?" She looks at him.
“I just thought…well, you must have had boyfriends, right...?” Loki asked.
Y/N chuckles "I spent my free time with you, so no. I don't."
Loki blushes more and moves a bit closer to her “So…we’re both virgins…?’
“Yeah.” Y/N let out a nervous chuckle.
Loki smiles at her and his body heats up. He leans in closer to her, almost whispering “So…want to change that...?”
“...what?” She whispers back to him.
His breath hitches and he speak softly “Do…you wanna….y’know do it together?” Y/N thinks for a few seconds before she nods at him. He was her first kiss and she trusted him to be her first time too. Loki smiles gently, biting his lip ever so slightly “You sure this is what you want?”
“I am. Are you?”
Loki nods, his heart pounding in his chest “Yes, I am.” he leans in slowly, pressing his lips against hers. She kisses him back, remembering a when they kissed for the first time years ago.
Feeling her lips against his, Loki groans softly into the kiss. He wraps his arms around her waist, pulling her closer as their tongues slowly explore each other’s mouths. Their kiss deepens as their desire grows stronger.
Loki’s hands wander over her body, exploring the curves that have developed over the years. Y/N’s hand also explored his body and his muscular chest through the clothes he was wearing. That made Loki let out a groan when her hands travelled his body. He breaks the kiss to press his lips against her neck, trailing soft kisses down her collarbone, making Y/N moan and her hands going down to palm him through the pants. Loki gasped at the feeling. He’s never been touched like this before by someone else and it’s driving him wild.
He slides his hand on her body to take off the shirt she was wearing, exposing her breasts to him. Loki’s mouth goes down, capturing one of her nipples in his mouth, rolling it between his teeth softly. Y/N’s hands worked quickly to take off his shirt too, while his hands worked to slide down her body the boxer she was wearing.
Y/N’s hand found his cock when she opens his pants, making Loki gasp and his hips buck into her touch. He groans loudly as he feels her fingers wrapped around his throbbing length “Oh gods, Y/N... this feel so good...” She kept stroking him while he struggles to maintain control when her hands worked on him.
She suddenly stops, smiling at him “Can you take these off? I want to try something.”
Loki grins and quickly pull the remaining clothes off, his erection visible now making her eyes widen, thinking if he would really fit her. “What do you have in mind?”
“Lay down.” She says.
With a nod, Loki obey her. She starts stocking him slowly again, making him moan loudly and squirm beneath her as she kept her slow pace. “Oh, fuck...”
“Can you guide me?” She asks with a smirk on her lips.
Loki just nods his head when she decided to put him on her mouth. His hips jerk up off the bed ad he feels Y/N’s warm mouth on his cock, making him let out a long and low moan. Loki’s hand run though her hair, guiding her as she takes more of him. Loki’s eyes roll back into his head, unable to believe how good this feels.
Y/N looks at him confused when he suddenly pulls her off “Did I do something wrong?”
He shakes his head quickly and pulls her to kiss her deeply, his tongue exploring her mouth and tasting himself “No, you were perfect. I just want to finish with you.”
“Oh, okay.” She smiles.
Loki lay her down underneath him, smiling at her as his hands moved to her folds. Y/N let out a moan just with the feelings of his hands coming close. She was never touched like that by anyone. Loki slide one finger inside her, slowly stroking her wetness and rubbing her clit with his thumb. That made her let out a louder moan.
Feeling her inner walls clench around his finger, Loki chuckles softly. He kisses her neck and moves to her ear, nibbling gently “So wet for me...”
“Loki...” She moans his name.
Loki groans in response, pushing a second finger inside her slowly. He starts thrusting them in and out gently, stretching her as he leans down to capture one of her nipples in his mouth again. Feeling her body respond to his touch, Loki puck up the pace slightly, increasing both the depth and the speed of his thrust.
“Loki, I think I’m close.”
He quickens his pace even more “Come for me.” Seconds later she was hit by her climax, and his fingers keep stroking her, feeling her muscles relax and loosen after her orgasm. “I don’t want this to hurt you, Y/N/N. Are you ready?”
Y/N just nods at him. Slowly, Loki lines himself up with her entrance, taking a deep breath before he starts pushing forward slowly, feeling the tightness of her entrance as he slips inside. Her face showed pain when he enters her and a few tears scape her eyes. Loki freezes seeing her tears and stops, kissing her tears away. He then keeps sliding inside her, slower than the first time and stops, kissing gently her forehead.
“You can move.” She says after a few more seconds.
Once he’s sure that she wasn’t in pain anymore, Loki begins to move, his thrusts slow and gentle as his hands find their way to hers where they lace their fingers together. Y/N let out a small moan, her pain turning into pleasure.
Loki speed up his thrusts slightly as he hears her moans, watching her face for any sigh that he was going too fast or too hard. When she smiles softly at him, he returns her smile, a warm feeling spreading through his chest. After years of waiting, he finally lost his virginity with her, his best friend.
“Loki, I’m...”
“I know.” Was all he said before kissing her. Loki was close too. Her walls clenched around his cock as she moans his name again. Feeling her climax, Loki couldn’t help but release his seed deep inside her. He groans into the kiss, feeling a wave of pleasure wash over him. Panting heavily, Loki slowly pulls out of her, and he collapsed onto the bed besides her. A small smile crept onto his lips as he thought of what just happened between them “That…felt incredible…”
Y/N nods, still trying to catch her breath “You’re sure you never done that before?”
Loki chuckles as he wraps an arm around her and pulling her to him “I’m sure, that was honestly all new to me.”
“Well, you were really good.” she chuckles, laying her head on his chest.
He blushes as he rubs his hand up and down her back, a small smile on his face “Thank you…you know…I gotta say that was one of the best things I've ever done in my life…”
“We should do it more times.” Y/N suggested.
Loki nods “I agree, I wouldn’t mind doing this over and over again with you…”
She smiles at him “Yeah. We’re friends, we can be a bit more intimate...”
He smiles and rubs her back a bit “I guess that’s how we can describe it and that’s how it should stay, right? Just friends…”
“Yeah.” She agrees.
-----
Y/N and Loki manage to keep that way for about 8 months. But being intimate brough them closer than they already were, making people inside the palace starts gossiping about them, how they were cute together, that they were probably together but just hiding for the public, that they’re in love. Even Thor and his friends engage with that gossip.
Loki would notice the whispers. Some people in the castle would start joking around with him about him being ‘in love’ with her. He would jokingly brush it off with a laugh and would deny it. But he was starting to actually have feelings for her. But he could not act on them due to the fact that he remembered what she said to him about them just being friends. So, he remained silent about the situation, still only acting as just friends with her.
Y/N knocked on Loki’s door earlier than normal. Loki was just sitting on his bed reading a book and he was quite shocked at her early arrival. He quickly put his book aside and went to the door “Hey, what’re you doing here?”
Loki could see she was angry “Your dear brother just kicked me out of our training today.”
He was take by surprise by her answer and he got slightly confused “W-what...? Thor kicked you out…?”
“Yes!” she sits on his bed letting out a frustrated sigh.
Loki was shocked and he wasn't expecting her to be this angry. He sits down next to her and thinks about this for a moment before finally asking “Why did he kick you out?”
“Just because I was mad that they kept saying those gossips about us.”
“Well…you shouldn’t be paying mind and listening to what people are saying, okay?” Loki says to her, trying to easy her anger.
Y/N sighs “I know, but it’s all the damn time...”
Loki nods, taking her hand gently “Don’t let them get to you…alright...?”
She looks for a moment to their hands together, a small smile appearing on her face “I’ll try.”
Loki smiled back at her and then speaks softly “Listen…about those people that gossip about us….do you think they’re right?”
Y/N chuckles, looking at him “We both know that we’re not together.”
He just nods, looking down before he says quietly “Right, we’re not… just friends right…?”
Y/N noticed the way he was acting. In fact, she noticed the last time they were together too, but she said to herself she was imagining things. “You’re not happy with this, are you?”
Loki sighs, avoiding eye contact with her “No…honestly…no I’m not happy with this…”
She nods at him, feeling tense and fearing his next answer “Do you want to stop?”
He looks back up at her “No…I meant…I’m unhappy with the fact that we’re just friends.”
Y/N let out the breath she was holding, relaxing with his answer and smiling “Oh, thank the gods!”
Loki was surprised by her reaction. He had expected her to pull away as soon as he had said his last few words “But…you…you’re not upset…?”
“No.” She chuckles “I was thinking about that the last two times we had sex…”
His body tenses up and he blinks in surprise, his heart pounding as he realizes what she’s said “H-hold on a sec…w-we’re you actually wanting to take this further…?"
“Yeah, I just didn’t know how to bring this up…”
Loki was speechless as he realized how stupid he was for not acting on those feelings earlier “But does that mean you would want to start a…. relationship with me…?"
“If you want to.” Y/N smiles widen.
He smiles and grabs her hand “You have no idea how happy you’ve made me right now. I’ve wanted this for so long…” She smiles at him. Loki’s heartbeat quickens as he feels her hand brush against his. He was finally with the woman he had always wanted to be with for so long.
Years later
Y/N and Loki were still dating. They were the favorite royal couple.
Thor instead in them going with him to fight the frost giants. Loki had become a master of magic in thoses years and Y/N was one of the best warriors of Asgard. When Thor asked them to go with him to fight the frost giants, Loki agreed without any hesitation or question.
As they were preparing to leave Loki walked up to Y/N. He looked at her and smirked a soft smile “Hey.’
“Hi.” She smiles at him. He could notice she was tense.
"Are you ready for this?” He asked walking closer to her.
“Yeah.”
Loki grabs her hands and gives it a tight squeeze “Don't worry, I won't let anything hurt you.” He smiles at her and pats her forearm reassuringly.
That made her chuckle, she probably was a better fighter than he was "I'm not worried about that."
He looks at her curiously, raising his eyebrow “Then what are you worried about?”
"Odin said for Thor to let it pass, and yet Thor insisted. I just have a bad feeling about this..." She says at her boyfriend.
Loki thinks about what she's said, he also was feeling a bit uneasy as well, but he wasn't going to admit that yet “Hmm... well, I think we'll be fine. I mean we're fighting frost giants, not the entire realm.” he then smirked and spoke sarcastically “Besides, are you scared?”
Y/N rolled her eyes at him “Me? Never!”
Y/N and Loki joined everyone else. In the middle of the fight, she saw one of them grabbing Loki's arm. When she run to him, he looks like he just saw a ghost. She grabbed his arm expecting to see a wound, but it had...nothing. He was fine.
Loki’s eyes were widened, and he looked at her in shock as he slowly pulls his arm away from her. He was scared and his mind was going a mile a second as he was trying to figure out what exactly had happened.
“You’re...not hurt.” She says looking at his arm confused.
He blinks and looks at her, his gaze was now a bit more confused, and she could see that he was still shaken up. “I…no…I’m not….”
They didn't have much time after that to talk. Everything happened so fast, Odin came and took them all back, banished Thor to Midgard. Y/N quickly took Loki back to her room, before Odin decided to do something with him too.
Loki was obviously shaken up by everything that had happened. He was quiet and kept to himself whilst Y/N took him to her room and his mind was just running a mile a minute. Once they were inside her room, he spoke for the first time since everything had happened "I need to go...to see something."
Y/N nods “Okay, I’ll go with you.”
"No... I'll go alone. It's something I have to do on my own...I’ll be right back." Loki doesn't explain any further as he walks out of her room, leaving a confused Y/N.
It had been already an hour after that. Loki sat silently in his room, staring at a blank wall as he tried to take all of it in. This had to be a mistake...this couldn't be right...how the hell was he a frost giant? There were so many damn questions racing through his mind right now.
There was a knock on his door. He looked up and he opened the door, he was still processing everything, and he had almost forgotten about Y/N. “Yeah?”
"I've been looking for you like crazy." She says entering his room.
Loki raised an eyebrow “Looking for me? I think you’re being a little dramatic” he says casually, although his voice cracked slightly from the stress of everything that was going through his mind.
"Me? Dramatic? You're the one who left me alone and was being mysterious and all." Y/N says.
He was angry and confused at everything that happened with him “What the hell is your goddamn problem? It isn’t like I left you for days or something, why are you so worried?”
“Because I care about you.”
Loki scoffs and glares down at her, he was feeling more and more pissed off “Did you not understand me the first damn time? I just needed some time to myself, is that so goddamn hard for you to understand?”
"Your brother have just been banished and you left gods knows where. Are you really complaining about me being worried about you?" She was not believing the way he was acting.
He rolls his eyes and sighs, closing it for a few seconds before opening them again. “Do you think that right now I want your goddamn sympathy? No! I want to be left alone! Alone with my thoughts. Don’t you get it?”
Y/N took a step back “Is that what you really want? To be alone?”
“Yes! That’s what I want! Can you not take the damn hint?!” Loki yells at her, taking a step forward and clenching his fists as he did.
“Do I annoy you that much?” She asks almost in a whisper.
Loki glares at her “Yes! You do! You annoy the hell out of me!” He yells, he had never said something like that to her before and it really caught her off guard.
Y/N keeps looking at him "Okay...I won't 'annoy' you anymore...or ever again" She took out the bracelet Loki had gifted her when they started dating and put on his desk, before she turns and left him alone "I'm ending this."
That hit Loki like cold water. He was shocked when Y/N placed the bracelet that he had gifted her on the desk. But when she said that she was ‘ending this’ and then started to walk out, he quickly ran after her “Wait! Wait!” he yelled, trying desperately to get her attention. But she didn’t stop, she kept walking away, with tears on her face now.
Loki runs up to her and grabs her wrist gently and stops her from going “Wait! Please wait! Just hear me out! I’m sorry, I’m so sorry! I…” Y/N just shakes her head, crying. Loki feels guilty, he didn’t really mean what he said. He was just overwhelmed and stressed out from everything. he was still trying to control his emotions “I didn’t mean it…I swear…” Loki sighs heavily as he wipes away her tears “I’m just confused right now. I’m sorry about what I said. Please don’t end this over what I said, I was just emotional. I didn’t mean any of it. Please don’t end this…”
“Why did you say it?” She asks him in a whisper, tears still running down her face.
Loki sighs once again and doesn’t speak for a few seconds “I don’t know why I did…I was stressed out and confused. I had no idea what to do, and my emotions just exploded. So…I’m sorry…I really am…”
Y/N tries to wipe the tears, but more came "I need you to be honest with me."
Loki nods, still glancing away from her to the side. He then spoke quietly, as to avoid choking up or his voice faltering, he was still trying desperately not to cry “I will…”
“Do you love me?”
He sighs and looks back up at her “Yes…I love you so much. And I’m an idiot for just saying all those things to you without properly assessing my own emotions…”
"What happened?" She asks softly.
Loki pauses for a few seconds before speaking. “Well…to make a long story short, i found out about my true heritage...I’m not an Asgardian…” He could see the confusion on her face “I’m a…frost giant.”
Y/N’s eyes widen in shock for a second before she looks down at her feet. A few seconds passed, in a silence that was making Loki more anxious than ever. “I don’t care.” She finally says.
He was a bit surprised that Y/N didn’t take the news horribly. He was waiting for her to call him a monster, say she never want to see him again...but she was actually alright with him being a frost giant. “You’re just…fine with this? Most people would be terrified of me now.”
"Well, I'm not most people, Loki. I'm the person who stays with the little boy who cried when his father was mean. I'm the person who was always by your side. I’m the person who loves you.”
Loki was stunned, hearing her say that made his heart melt and some tears fall off his eyes. He never knew he was going to find someone like her. “Thank you...thank you for being here for me..." Loki couldn't help himself, he pulled her close and kissed her. Y/N smiles into the kiss, not expecting it at all. She wraps her arms around him, embracing the kiss. She felt comfortable in his arms once again and she felt happy.
"Don't you ever say anything like that to me again. Or I swear I will break things up for good."
Loki couldn’t help but smile when she said that. She wasn’t leaving him after all, and she still loved him. So, he nodded and spoke softly “I won’t. I promise…” Y/N had tried her best to keep Loki sane after all of these events, but he was too angry. After the events that succeed, Y/N had cried a lot when Thor told her he had die in the Bifrost.
But then, imagine her surprise when Thor came telling her that Loki was on Midgard, trying to dominate the planet with an army. Y/N was in shock when she heard that. She wasn’t quite sure how to feel. On one hand, she was happy to hear that he was still alive but on the other, she wasn’t excited about him being on Midgard. The thought of him trying to take over the planet worried her.
Thor took her there with him, thinking that maybe she could get him to stop if the moment came. She hadn't seen him until the final fight in the Stark tower, when she walked to him with her armor and her sword in hand, like Thor had requested her. Loki had his back to her "Loki?"
Loki heard his name being called but he continued to gaze out at the destruction behind him that he had left in his path. He didn’t turn to face her, and his voice had a hint of a cold indifference in it “…what do you want?”
She looks at the image in front of him "That's not you."
He continued to stare out into the destruction and chaos he had left. He knew she was right. He wasn’t himself, he was a completely different version now. One that was angry, manipulative, cunning and cold “I’m fine. I don’t see what the big deal is…”
Y/N walked closer to him, putting her sword on the ground and using that hand to hold his shoulder “Loki...” His cold gaze finally turned to face her, though his expression remained the same, unchanging and uncaring. When she put her hand on his shoulder, he immediately flinched a little bit because of the sudden touch. “That’s not you.” She said again.
Loki didn’t say anything for a few seconds. He was silent, his face gave away little to no emotion “I’m no longer the person I was before…I’ve changed…and I’ve learned much…and I’ve become so much more…”
She reached for his face slowly, and Loki was caught a bit off guard when she put her hand on his face, but he didn’t flinch or move his face away from her. He noticed that she was still wearing the bracelet he gifted her as well.
"Give up this madness dream. Come home with me." She says softly, her hand caressing his face.
Loki was silent for a few seconds as he stared at her. Then he finally spoke, his voice now had a slight hint of anger in it “I *will* have my revenge. Nothing...no one will stop me…”
"Please, Loki. I know the man I love is still in there." She says with tears on her eyes. She didn’t know if she would be able to fight him if it was necessary.
His anger immediately disappeared when she started to cry. Seeing her tears only reminded him of all of the times she had stood by him, through thick and thin. She was always there for him, he couldn’t just abandon her again. So, he pulled her close and hugged her tightly, still not saying anything and just simply holding her close.
Y/N return his hug "I know something must happen to you...but please, stop it."
Loki continues to hug her and just holds her close for a few seconds. He didn’t want her to know his traumatic past, at least not yet. So instead, he spoke softly “You’re right…something did happen…I can’t tell you…”
"It's okay. Just stop this attack and come home...I'll protect you."
Loki was now on the verge of crying when she said that. But she had told him she would protect him, and he was so desperate for that right now. He didn’t want to be alone anymore. So, he spoke softly “Please…I need you.”
He stopped the attack and end up fighting alongside the Avengers. Thor, Loki and Y/N went back home. Y/N and Thor talked with Odin and convinced him that Loki help them in the end, so he wouldn’t send him to a cell.
Loki was now back at Asgard, where everything slowly became normal once again. However, he was still slightly traumatized by what had happened and was still suffering from the PTSD that he had acquired after the torture. The two of them were still together and he felt relieved that he didn’t lose her. Loki struggled a lot with his nightmares, which were getting worse every night. Whenever they hit, he would wake up in a cold sweat, his heart beating out his chest and he would usually be crying. Y/N would be next to him every time, holding him gently and speaking softly, trying to comfort him when he woke up. He felt very weak and helpless during these moments, and he was glad he had her with him.
That night Loki also woke up with his nightmares, running to the bathroom to throw up. Loki was already on his knees, hugging the toilet and throwing up, his tears streaming down his face. Any second now he would begin hyperventilating, as was typical for how these nightmares would usually go for him. Y/N woke up and walked to the bathroom, holding his hair back. He immediately calmed down a bit and took a deep breath. Hearing her voice and feeling her touch made things more bearable.
Loki was still shaking a bit when he finally finished throwing up, so Y/N hugged him tightly as they sit on the bathroom’s floor. His body was shaking almost uncontrollably, and he was trying not to hyperventilate. His breath was shaky, and his chest was rising and falling rapidly as he tried to control himself. But when she hugged him, he stopped for a few seconds and then he hugged her back, burying his head into her shoulder and holding her tight.
"You know you'll have to talk about this some time, Loki..." She says softly.
Loki sniffled and held her a bit tighter for a few seconds before he finally spoke softly. His voice sounded choked up and shaky and he was still trying to stop himself from crying. “I know...I just...not yet.”
“I hate to see you like that.” Y/N says while she brushes his hair away from his face.
He nodded his head, still holding her tightly “I know…I know that I need to talk about it…it’s just…I don’t know if I can….I just…” it was clear that he didn’t know how to speak about it. He simply couldn’t bear to relive what had happened to him.
"Do you want me to...see it?"
Loki flinches, the prospect of her seeing his memories was terrifying for him. He didn’t want anyone to see what he had gone through, least of all someone who he loved so deeply. So, he shook his head.
"Loki, you need to let it out. He can't hurt you anymore."
He takes a few seconds before speaking again. He was still on the verge of tears, and he was shaking quite a bit. He understood the importance of talking about it, but he could barely even bring himself to speak about it “I know…I know that it will help…but I’m just…I’m just scared…so scared…”
"I'm here with you." She says "I'll always be here with you."
Loki sniffled and he hugged her back tightly. Hearing her say that she would always be there for him gave him a bit of strength, and he tightened his grip on her as if to show his appreciation and gratitude. He slowly let out a breath and his tears began to subside. “I know…I know you will be…”
She starts brushing his hair, close to his forehead "Can I?"
Loki was a bit hesitant at first, he wasn’t sure about her entering his mind and reliving the trauma with him. He hated the idea of possibly putting her through that…but he felt so weak and so helpless, and she offered. So, he eventually nodded.
So she did it. She could see the memories when he let her enter. She was gently around his mind when she starts seeing the fight with Thor at the Bifrost, when he let it go. She saw all the torture he endured from the mad titan and everything that happened with him. She could feel his pain and she could understand why he was so reluctant to talk about it. It was a horrible realization but now she knew the extent of the abuse he endured while under the mercy of Thanos.
When she came back, she was crying. Loki noticed that she was crying, and he looked up at her with a concerned expression. “A-are you okay...?”
Y/N shook her head. "No, Loki. I'm sorry you have been through all of that." She hugs him so tightly.
Loki was still silent for a few seconds as he simply hugged her tightly and buried his head in her shoulder again. He didn’t know quite what to say, he just wanted to forget about what had happened. Especially now when having to think back on it all. When she hugged him back, he started to squeeze her even tighter, as if seeking comfort and trying to remind himself that the pain was now gone. He didn’t want to relive it ever again.
"You'll never go through that ever again. I'll protect you, I swear."
Loki wanted to believe her so much. Having her to protect him was a great comfort for him and a great relief. He was so vulnerable right now, scared to ever face anything like that again. Hearing that he would never go through that again was extremely reassuring to him. He kept hugging her and didn’t want to let go. “You promise?”
“I promise.”
Loki was getting better after a couple of months. He still had some nightmares, but not as often as before. Thanks to Y/N being by his side, he had started to sleep a little more soundly than before. His nightmares had gone from multiple times a week to only once a week, which was an achievement in his eyes. He didn’t feel as scared to sleep anymore and he was thankful for that. Especially because he knew his girlfriend was right by his side, ready to help him out whenever he needed it.
After six months, Loki was finally getting better. His nightmares were now happening rarely instead of occasionally. He still had them from time to time, but they were now much more manageable. He still had a lot of healing to do, but this was definitely progress.
With each day that passed and each night that went by, Loki just continued to think about how much he loved his girlfriend. She was always by his side, and she always managed to comfort him whenever he needed it. She supported him through everything, and she understood him like no one else did. It was only natural that he started to think about marriage. He didn’t necessarily know if she thought the same, but the thought hadn’t left him for a while now.
"What you're thinking about?" Y/N asks as she notices he was not paying attention to the book on his hands.
Loki was still lost in thought, thinking about the prospect of marriage. He hadn’t realized that he had stopped paying attention to the book he had in his hands, as he had simply been staring blankly at it. But then she asked him a question and snapped him out of his thoughts. “Nothing…just…nothing…”
Y/N chuckles “It doesn’t look like nothing.”
He also chuckled a bit and then said “Okay, maybe it was something….”
"Are you gonna tell me?" She sits closer to him.
Loki was silent for a few seconds and then he finally spoke softly “I was just…thinking about something…about us…?”
"Should I worry about this?" Y/N says with a playful smile.
“Not necessarily…I was just thinking about…what if we took our relationship to the next level…you know…”
“Like how?”
“…like…getting married?” Loki spoke carefully and anxiously as he said this, he was wondering what her reaction would be.
Y/N smiles softly at him* "Are you serious?"
Loki nodded and spoke softly “Yes….I’ve been thinking about it for a while now….and I wanted to know what you think….”
“I wouldn’t be opposite of the idea.” Loki’s heart started to beat rapidly as she said that. “Can you imagine us, married and with a mini you running around?" Loki blushed and smiled, imagining the scenario was a bit adorable.
He could just imagine the two of them with their child, living happily ever after. Loki liked that idea…very much. It felt so innocent and so pure, something that he had wanted for so long. And there was no way he would ever let go of it, not ever. “That would be so perfect…our own little family…”
Y/N smiled at the thought “Yeah...”
Loki smiled back at her, and he wanted to say something else. But he still felt a bit anxious, he still felt like it wasn’t set in stone just yet “So…you’re really saying yes…? Like…definitely, yes…?”
"I don't know...make the proposal." She chuckles. Loki smirked at her response and then thought to himself. He was definitely going to propose to her soon, that was for sure.  So he started to hatch out a plan for the perfect proposal he would want. Once he had that all figured out, the only thing that would be left was to execute it.
Days had passed and Loki had been waiting for the right moment. And after a week of waiting, he got that perfect moment. He found her alone in her room and he knew that now was his chance to do it.
“Hey.” Y/N smiled as he entered her room.
“Hey…” Loki smiles back at her. He feels the rush of adrenaline as he finally has his chance. This is the moment he’s been waiting for. So, he speaks confidently as he approaches her “I want to ask you something….”
“Sure.”
Loki takes a deep breath and steadies his voice, trying to sound as confident and sure as he could when speaking. “You know how a few weeks ago I brought up marriage…?” She nods at him. Loki nods too and gets on one knee, making Y/N smiles. There was a hint of nervousness in his voice, but he managed to keep it steady, and he spoke confidently. “I want to make you mine…completely…and I would like for you to do the same…will you marry me..?”
“Yes, Loki. Yes!” She hugs him.
He breathed a sigh of relief as she said yes. He was so excited and happy right now, he was over the moon. He smiled back at her and then he spoke softly. “Then…will you please take this, as a sign of my love?” Loki holds up the ring, waiting for her to accept it.
Y/N gave him her hand so he could put the ring on her. “It’s beautiful.”
Loki was absolutely overjoyed. It was one of the most perfect moments of his entire life. All his work in planning the proposal payed off. And seeing her accept the ring, his mother's ring, was the cherry on top. Loki was just so relieved and so happy, he was beaming with joy. "It used to be my mother's...I wanted you to have it..."
“Thank you.” She smiles before she kisses him.
He smiled back at her when he breaks the kiss, the entire moment was like a dream come true. He was so overjoyed that he almost couldn't keep his cool. This was the perfect moment. So he took her hand again and squeezed it softly. "I love you..."
“I love you too.”
A few months after, the royal wedding happened in Asgard. It was a beautiful wedding. A true fairy tale wedding. Loki and Y/N had finally married. The prince of Asgard had found true love and married his princess. Loki was happier than ever, with the woman he loved the most besides him. This was his happy ending, this was his happily ever after.
Five months after the wedding, Y/N started not feeling well. She usually woke up throwing up.
Loki was still asleep beside her when he suddenly woke up to the sound of her vomiting. He immediately jumped out of bed and went over to her. “A-Y/N…?
“Hm?” She had her eyes closed as another wave of nausea hit her.
Loki was now in distress and panic. He was getting worried as he tried to keep his cool and not let her know his real feelings yet. “A-are you okay..? You’ve been vomiting for a few days now….” He was so concerned about her at this point.
"I don't know, maybe it's something I eat?" She felt the nausea passing and open her eyes to look at him.
Loki still looked worried and concerned, he wasn’t quite buying her excuse. It didn’t make sense to him “But it’s been four days in a row…don’t you think that’s concerning a little?”
"I'll see a healer later if that's makes you feel better." She smiles at him.
He wasn’t reassured, he was still concerned about her. But he decided to not press the issue further for now “Okay…just promise me you’ll see one as soon as possible…”
Y/N nods and later that day, she went to the healer. When she got back to their room, she had a small box in her hand.
“What’s in that box…?” Loki was waiting for her back in the room.
"Oh, it's a present for you." She smiles handling him the box. "Open in.”
Loki’s nervous look remained on his face as he slowly took the box from her, not knowing what may be in there. But he then opened it and his eyes widened when he saw what was inside. His heart raced as he saw that it was a small pair of shoes. “What….are these…?”
"I don't know, Loki. What are these?" She asks him smiling.
“They look like…baby shoes…” Loki’s heart races as he realizes what she is implying. He didn’t even want to believe it. But then he spoke, and his tone was shaky. “Are you…”
Loki was speechless. It was official now; he was going to be a father. He was so happy, he felt so many different emotions rushing through him right now, but the main one was pure joy. “I’m going to be a dad…?”
"You're going to be a dad." Y/N spoke softly before she kissed her husband.
Nine months later, Y/N gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Loki was overjoyed about it. Holding the baby boy in his arms felt like a dream come true. His life would never be the same after this, everything would be different. And it was for the better. This child would be the most important thing to him, there would be nothing that would compare to this precious baby. He kissed him on the forehead, smiling as he did so.
Loki was the best father ever to his son. He was everything Odin never was to him. Loki made sure the child had everything he could ever want or need. He made sure his childhood would be beautiful and happy and he made sure he gave him everything he never had. He made sure to give him all the love he had to offer to his precious son. He spent a great majority of his time with him. And Y/N made sure she took good care of him as well. She made sure to teach him about love and everything he needed to know about the world. It was a beautiful sight.
A year later, close to their son first birthday, Y/N had found out she was pregnant again. But this time, she was better prepared to make a surprise to Loki.
He had just put the baby to sleep and came back to their room. “I have a surprise for you.” Y/N said softly. She gave him a present box. "Open in.”
Loki open the box and just looked at the shirt in a bit of confusion. It said 'Daddy’s girl’ when they had a son. “Uh…? Did you buy this by mistake…?” Y/N shakes her head ‘no’. Loki was still quite confused. Why did she buy a ‘daddy’s girl’ shirt? They had a son, not a daughter. So, it made no sense for her to buy that. “Then why did you get it…?”
"Because our daughter will need it." Y/N was holding back her smile seeing Loki’s confusion.
He immediately tensed up at the word ‘daughter’ and realized what she was implying. Their daughter. She was implying that they were going to have a second child. He just couldn’t believe it. He couldn’t believe that it was really happening. Loki was overwhelmed with emotions, and it showed on his face. His mouth dropped open as he spoke softly. “Our daughter..?”
Y/N nods, making Loki’s heart raced and his breathing quickened as he realized the good news. His smile became so wide that he even felt his cheeks ache. He was going to be a father again? That was an overwhelming thought and he loved it. The happiness he felt was overwhelming. “We’re going to have a daughter…?” He finally asked. She nods again, a few tears escaping her eyes.
Loki was filled with so many emotions right now that he just embraced her in a tight and loving hug. He held her close to him, smiling as he did so. Loki’s happiness was palpable at this point. He couldn’t believe that he was going to be a father again. He just couldn’t. And it was so unbelievable that he almost couldn’t accept it just yet. But as he held his wife close to him, he embraced the idea of having another child.
They had some hard months ahead. Thor had given up the throne, so Loki was next in line to be king now. And a few more months, another baby, a beautiful and healthy baby girl, was born. Loki felt like he was on a cloud, he just couldn’t believe how his life was working out so well for him. With a gorgeous wife and two beautiful children, life couldn’t get any better.
He was truly overjoyed and grateful. His life was filled with nothing but love and blessings. There was nothing left that he could possibly ask for now. With two beautiful children, the best wife in the world, a kingdom to rule one day. Things couldn’t be better. And as he looked down at his babygirl, he thought about all of this. He loved his life, he loved being a father and he loved his family. And this was more than just a passing thought, this was his life. His happy, fulfilling, life.

【☀Lazy Sunday chase🐍🌾】

Adopted!Oc with Loki's family
➩ Heldril had been taken into Loki's family, thanks to Sigyn finding the young girl wandering alone during winter ''exploring''. After being accepted with open arms, Heldril quickly adjusted into her new life and chaotic famliy!
Matching their strange natures and behavior, like she had always belonged there. Compared to most days the famliy spent outside, on this sunny day it seemed like Loki was in a playful mood, enough to be planning on something for them to do today!
➩ Reader type: None!
⚠: Family fluff, romantic fluff, flirting between parents, siblings teasing each other!
A/N: This was orignally a story that i posted on my main blog, as a gift for my online daugther @heldril oc, Heldril! I thought i would repost it here to bring back good old memories, i adore you so much kiddo!! ♡
Tumblr media
Loki and his family were spending a lazy Sunday afternoon together, lounging in the grass outside of Asgards walls. It was a rare occasion and one with unusual peace and relaxation for the trickster god, who always found himself up to no good.
Sigyn was lying on a picnic blanket, her eyes closed as she was soaking up the warm sunlight with a relaxed smile. Loki shifts his gaze at her and couldn’t help but smile to himself.
“Sol really does help your freckles show, darling~” The god said softly, admiring his wife happily.
The amount of joy he got from just staring at her was unbelievable.
“Oh is that so, have you been staring again~?” Sigyn chuckled, smirking at him.
She could tell he had been staring at her and loved teasing him for it.
Loki let out a laugh as he felt his cheeks turn red, he should have known he would be caught sooner or later!
It wasn’t often Sigyn’s freckles were ever visible on her face. For some reason, they would only appear in bright sunlight over time, but so would the slight sun burns she so easily got. It was a shame!
In the distance Sleipnir, Fenrir, and Vali could be heard playing tag. They were always nearby and so very loud too!
It almost disturbed Hel as she was reading a book to Heldril and Narfi, both siblings sitting patiently listening. Meanwhile Jormungandr bathed in a lake near by.
Suddenly, Loki jumped up from his seat and announced, “I have an idea! Let’s play a game everyone!”
Hel could be heard sighing intentionally loudly, “Oh father, and what could that possibly be?”
“Probably something stupid, I bet” Narfi expressed, not seeming so enthusiastic as Hel.
“Oh I love games!” Sleipnir neighs, trotting over to the rest of his famliy, his brothers right behind him trying to keep up!
“Sleipnir youre always so eager for a new challenge or game aren’t you? Just like fenrir.” Jormungandr teases, turning into his more humanoid form to join in more easily on the family game.
“Oh shut it jormi! At least we have a sense of wanting to achieve things around here, lazy bum” Fenrir barks at his snake brother. Much to Jormungandr’s entertainment.
“Gosh you’re so easy to make tense brother~!” Jormungandr spoke one last time before Loki stares at the two.
Obviously telling them with his expression that it was time to stop.
“It’s a new game i just invented at the spot,” said Loki with a mischievous grin.
“I’ll hide somewhere in the woods, and you all have to come find me. But here’s the twist - I can turn into any animal I want, and you have to chase me down.”
The children and Sigyn all looked at each other excitedly at the prospect of the game, but Narfi, as always seemed a little hesitant.
“I don’t know about this..” said Narfi.
“What if something goes wrong?”
Loki just laughed. “Relax, kid. It’s just a harmless game. What could possibly go wrong?”
“Yeah brother! Listen to dad, If something goes wrong I’ll protect you!” Heldril spoke proudly, always ready to protect her younger siblings from harms way.
“Well i- I was thinking more about pa-” Before Narfi could voice any further of his concerns, Vali jumps on top of him out of excitement.
Causing the boy to fall on his back, “oof!”
“Oops- Let’s start!!” He grind happily waving his hands around, still on top of Narfi.
“Okay, everyone close your eyes and count to ten,” Loki instructed, as he snuck off into the woods to find a hiding spot.
With that the game began. Loki shifting into different animals along the way to get a head start. The children and Sigyn counted and waited before they started chasing after him, laughing and shouting.
The gods and creatures around the woods probably wondering what was going on.
The family split up. Everyone comping the woods, looking behind trees and under bushes, but Loki was nowhere to be found.
Suddenly, they heard a rustling in the bushes, and Fenrir let out a growl.
“I think I smell him!” he exclaimed, as he took off in the direction of the sound.
Heldril and Narfi who had grouped up with fenrir followed him, running as fast as they could through the woods.
Eventually Heldril stops as she saw Narfi gasping for air.
“Oh crap! Nari you alright buddy?” Heldril asks slightly concerned at her brothers well being. Narfi nodded just trying to catch his breath back.
“F-Fenrir..is getting away we need to-”
“Get on my back brother!”
“Wha-?!”
Just like that Heldril picks Narfi up and runs her quickest to catch up with Fenrir again. Narfi was for sure taken by surprise but at least they’d make it!
Back together again, Heldril let’s Narfi down and pants heavily, soon enough they caught glimpses of Loki in various animal forms - a bird, a rabbit, even a snake - it felt quite impossible to catch up to him.
Finally, after what felt like hours of chasing Loki through the woods, they all managed to corner him in a small clearing.
Loki gave up and in his snake form, he carefully starts slithering up to Sigyn and around her arm she had offered him.
“You got me,” Loki said with a sigh, sad they couldn’t keep on playing forever.
Sigyn couldn’t help but smirk as she clearly had something clever to say. As she held her husband up.
“A snake huh, suits you at the very moment sly one~” she spoke, teasing him excitedly.
Loki just hisses at her with his snake tounge as he transformed back into his human form and ends up in his wifes arms.
“Oh shush!” He blushed rolling his eyes jokingly.
The children couldn’t help but all collaps onto the ground, panting and laughing. Sigyn puts Loki down but continues to hold him close.
“That was truly an amazing adventure!” Heldril said, her eyes shining with excitement.
“Absolutely! Can’t wait to get back into the waters..” said Jormungandr, grinning from ear to ear.
“Oh brother, such a selfish soul..” Hel shook her head in a joking manner, making fun of Jormungandr’s behavior.
“Am not! I’m literally cooking out here and have for a long time now. I might shed my snake skin and throw it at you if you don't watch it Hel!”
Jormungandr tries to defend himself, joking back. Waving his hand on himself to try to cool down.
“But seriously guys, good job! Next time, I’ll be even trickier to catch.” Loki jokes, picking up Vali who was exhausted to his limits. Tounge out and everything pretending to be dead.
Sigyn finds his behavior silly and chuckles, but gets to the point of what she was going to say. “Now, who’s ready for some lunch?”
“You bet I am!” Fenrir barks, his tail wagging excitedly.
“Make that two, don’t let the greedy wolf eat everything me and Sigyn brought.” Hel spoke, calmly hiding away her smirk.
“Hey! What was that for?!” Fenrir raised an eyebrow and looked offended.
“Make it three! I’d die for some juicy apples right now.” Sleipnir happily joins in.
So with that the family went out of the woods and back to their picnic blanket. The rest of the afternoon was filled with food and joy, as Loki and his family enjoyed each other’s company and the simple pleasure of being together.

Waffle House
Main Masterlist - Marvel Fics
POV: Third
Ship: None, just Avengers & Avengers
Type: Fluff + Crack
Wordcount: 1,044
Synopsis: The Avengers get back from their latest mission at ungodly hours of the morning, and take their starving selves to the only place open, Waffle House.
A/N: This literally spawned in my mind and it's so 2010s Avenger's Tower fics where everyone is happy and not dead and stuff. Enjoy.
Tumblr media
At three o’ clock in the morning, the Avengers had just made it back to the compound, and they were exhausted. Their most recent mission had been both physically and mentally taxing, and everyone wanted to get some much-deserved rest.
The problem was that nobody wanted to go to bed on an empty stomach, and nobody wanted to take the time to make a meal for a big group. Plus, they had been out all week, so the fridge and pantry both proved useless. Tony couldn’t get a hold of the usual places they ordered food delivery from, and almost everywhere was closed.
So, begrudgingly, everyone piled into a few cars and went into town to find somewhere to eat. Most places were closed, until they saw the bright yellow lights of the legendary Waffle House.
The cars pulled into the parking lot, and a few people groaned. Steve glared at them. “Look, this is the only place that seems to be open, so starve if you want. I’m going to get some food.” Steve had never been to a Waffle House, but he wasn’t opposed to breakfast foods at ungodly hours of the morning, especially when he was as hungry as he was.
Everyone piled into the seats, and they took up most of the small building. A tired-looking teenager handed out some menu cards for them. The poor teen didn’t even recognize them until he handed one to Steve.
She scrunched her eyebrows. “Do I know you?” She asked, oblivious to who she was talking to.
Steve looked sheepish, but Tony was very much not. “Ah, that’s Captain America right there.” Tony patted Steve on the back. “We’re the Avengers.”
The girl’s eyes widened, taking in the information. Unfortunately, because her mind wasn’t functioning, she didn’t really process it. “Uh huh… What can I get you to drink?”
Several members got sodas, despite the caffeine, because they doubted that anything could keep them from sleeping once they finally made it to bed. Peter got orange juice, of course, and Tony tried to order alcohol but was met with a blank stare from the server and instead ordered a simple coke. Tony had been to Waffle House, and he knew they didn’t serve alcohol, but he still figured it was worth a shot.
There wasn’t a lot of chatter that happened between everyone. Loki told everyone that the food options they had on Midgard were atrocious, prompting Thor to tell Loki that he had bad taste in food. If Loki hadn’t been tired as well, Thor would be on the floor with a dagger in his abdomen.
Natasha and Clint quietly discussed the recent mission, trying to stay awake. Wanda tried to get the grime out from under her nails while Peter told everyone jokes to liven up the mood.
The worker came back and collected orders. With the insane amount of food that the group ordered, she alerted them that it might take a little longer than usual because it was three A.M. and there were only two people on staff.
Even if he was tired, Thor was still significantly loud. As he was talking to Bruce, his thundering voice attracted the attention of the line cook who had begun making hashbrowns. The man turned his head to look at the group, also not recognizing them. His co-worker came up to him.
“What’s their deal? Theater troupe or something? They seem to still be in costume.” He didn’t recognize the red, white, and blue suit that Steve had on, or maybe he was just too high and his senses were clouded.
The girl shrugged. “I don’t know, don’t care, let’s just get them their food so they can leave.” She said, beginning to help him prep the food. She didn’t usually make the food, but when you have minimal staff on hand and are feeding literal gods and superhumans, you have to make-do. Especially when Thor alone ordered a stack of pancakes.
“What do you call an alligator wearing a vest?” Peter asked the group, earning no response. He didn’t care, continuing on with the joke. “An In-Vest-Igator!”
Tony sighed, shaking his head. “Kid, we really have to work on your jokes.”
Loki, overhearing Peter’s joke, tilted his head. “You know, I met an alligator version of myself once.”
Bruce looked confused and exasperated, as he usually did. “You know, I don’t know what to do with that information.” He said, just as the food started to be delivered.
Everyone dug in, tired of the crappy mission food they had been living on. Even if he complained some, Loki still cleaned his plate. When they were done eating, there was barely a crumb. Bucky reached for the last piece of piece of bacon on his plate, but Sam stole it out from under him.
This wasn’t the smartest idea, and Bucky would have punched Sam in the face if it wasn’t for his dislocated shoulder on his non-metal arm. He could hit Sam with his metal arm, but that could easily kill him, and even as angry as he was, he didn’t want that. However, Bucky made sure to make a mental note to get Sam back when he wasn’t as tired.
Once everyone was done, they paid, and Tony made sure to leave a hefty tip. The Avengers filed back out, half-asleep now that they had eaten. Steve drove them back to the tower, and everyone went straight to bed. Except for Wanda, who took a quick shower beforehand because she hated going to sleep with blood on her. Even if it wasn’t hers.
Back at the Waffle House, the two underpaid workers stared at the money that was left for them. “Holy shit.” the girl said, a little more awake now that there was an insane amount of money involved.
The guy grabbed the money, and they split it half-half. He put the money in his pocket. “This feels illegal.”
“Who the fuck cares!?” The girl said, throwing her hands up in the air. “I can fucking quit, baby!”
Of course, she couldn’t actually quit because she still needed to keep an income to pay for student loans and all that shit. But still, it was a nice thought.

The first New Year || TS!Loki x Reader ||
A/N: I am writing this because I would really like to have something out tonight! Happy New Year to everybody!
Warnings: fluff, parent!TS!Loki
Tumblr media
Since it was New Year's and the first one that you will get to experience with Haven and Loki, the latter had rented out a room in a hotel close to the river where the fireworks would be clear to see.
Loki had decided to take you and Haven down to the river to be able to watch the fireworks and your daughter had not stopped chattering with excitement since you all occupied a space on the grass and camped out. The city lights covered the sky, preventing the night sky that Haven was used to while living in the Cabin back in Norway but she didn't care; it kept her awake - sort of.
When the clock showed 11:50, you turned to find Loki lying back on the green blanket with Haven lying on his chest, her eyes shut and her breathing even. She had fought off sleep as much as she could but her tired eyes had shut an hour ago and Loki didn't have the heart to wake her.
This was her seventh year and you knew that she'd remember this moment for the rest of her life, the grandeur of New Year's celebrations in the capital city of England. Since Loki was banned from America for his invasion, he couldn't take you both to Times Square but he could give you this.
You rested your hand on Loki's bicep and watched his emerald eyes snap away from his darling girl to you and you pointed to the clock. 11:59.
With a smile, Loki looked down at the sleeping girl on his chest and slowly blew on her face to wake her and his heart swelled at the sight of her beautiful nose scrunching up at the disturbance. Her emerald eyes slowly opened to stare up at her daddy and a small smile spread across her lips as she whispered out a tired, "did I fall asleep...?"
Loki let out a small chuckle and nodded as he pressed a soft kiss to her nose and sat up. Just then, an idea clicked in his mind and he looked over at you before his fingers gleamed a beautiful emerald and without warning, your feet left the ground with Loki and you were now standing above the trees, the best view in London.
As everyone began the ten second countdown, Haven pushed the hair away from her face and her eyes looked toward the sky, mumbling the numbers beneath her breath before everyone screamed 'HAPPY NEW YEAR' beneath you and your little family and fireworks soared into the air.
The immediate surprise on Haven's face when she saw the colours lighting up the sky was so worth the wait that you all had made. The cracks, fizzles, pops and bangs of the fireworks amazed the little Princess of Asgard as the fireworks reflected in her eyes so full of wonder and excitement. The girl raised her hands aloft, as if to reach for a firework, and tiny fireworks sparked from her hands and fizzled in the air along with the other fireworks.
You pointed your phone at your daughter and husband, amazed at how both of them reacted to the fireworks. Loki looked completely intrigued by the spectacle and a childish smile pulled at his lips while Haven was laughing eagerly and applauding the fireworks exploding before her eyes.
Once the fireworks died down, Haven's arms lowered and she released a tired laugh as she sunk further into Loki's arms. "That was fun," she whispered tiredly against his shoulder, yawning cutely as her eyes drooped, "thank you, daddy."
Loki smiled lovingly and held her close and in the next moment, you were in the hotel room and Loki laid Haven down on the second bed with a gentle kiss to her head.
~~
After an hour of sitting on the sofa in silence, listening to the soft breathing of your daughter, you turned to Thomas and whispered, "Mr Sharpe?"
Thomas hummed softly from behind you, his nails scraping through your hair as he read a novel.
"I'm pregnant."
Thomas's book was on the floor in the next moment and he was on his knees beside the sofa as he stared into your eyes. "Truly?" he whispered, tears brimming in his eyes as his hand covered his mouth.
"Yes," you replied with a laugh, yelping with surprise as Thomas pressed his lips to yours.
After a very passionate kiss, you pulled away from him and whispered, "happy new year, my love."
Thomas released a happy laugh and kissed all over your face before whispering, "happy new year to you and to our new little treasure."
His hand fell to your stomach and his thumb caressed the skin there gently with a dopey smile on his face, "I love you."

How about Loki and Thor trying to get Hela and reader's daughter to say the first words, they've been trying for hours, until Loki or Thor says a curse word and the reader's daughter repeats it? that would be funny
A/N: Been a bit since a good family fic, huh? Enjoy the shenanigans!

“Come on, little one. Can you say Uncle Thor? Hm? Can you say Uncle Thor?”
You rolled your eyes as you watched your brother-in-law coo over your daughter, Sigrid, and looked over at Loki just as they seemed to be doing the same gesture.
“Brother, you’ve been at it for two hours now. If our niece wanted to say Uncle Thor by now, she would have.”
Thor scowled up at his sibling as he continued to hold her little hands in his own, keeping her standing on her wobbly little legs as she grinned up at him with a gummy little smile.
“Don’t act like you haven’t been sitting right here trying to get her to talk, too.” He accentuated his sentence by sticking his tongue out in the most childish gesture you’d seen from him (that day, anyway), and Loki made a face in response, opening their mouth to bicker when Hela cut them off.
“Never mind the fact that, even if she wanted to say it, it’s highly unrealistic for her to say a phrase like that at ten months. She hasn’t even said ‘mama’ yet, and that will be her first word, thank you very much.”
You hummed out a soft laugh as you settled more comfortably into her side, letting your head fall to rest against her shoulder as you watched Thor refocus his attention on your daughter, smiling fondly as he made ridiculous faces at her to get her to giggle.
“As it is, she’s taken her sweet time with all her other milestones. She didn’t even start crawling until about a month ago.”
“Yes, well that’s because she’s the most spoiled baby in the entire universe, she hasn’t needed to move on her own. You two carry her everywhere.” Loki teased with a smile, and you scowled playfully at them.
“And we’ll continue to do so, because she’s the best baby in the whole entire world. Aren’t you? Aren’t you?” you cooed at her, beaming when she turned at the sound of your voice and gave a gurgly little grunt as if to agree with you.
“Is she walking at all yet?” Thor asked conversationally, watching as she bounced on her legs as though trying to jump but unable to get herself off the ground.
“Mm, I don’t think she’s supposed to be yet, necessarily. All the books say she should be pulling herself to stand up, as well as crawling.” Hela had read just about every book there was, you thought, when you’d found out you were pregnant, and you swore she had committed all the usual baby milestones to memory.
“We aren’t worried about it,” you added on, making a silly face at Sigrid as she kept looking at you.
“She does try sometimes, though. If you hold her at arm’s length and keep hold of her hands. You can try, if you’re careful.” Hela reached for her glass of wine, and your glass of sparkling apple juice, and handed it to you before settling back against the couch, watching with unabashed amusement as Thor got Sigrid stood up on her feet and held her little hands.
“Come on, little one. Come to Uncle Thor!”
Everyone in the entire room seemed to hold their breath as they waited to see if Sigrid would try, and sure enough, after a few moments of hesitation, she took a wobbling step toward Thor, who absolutely grinned as he let her keep holding onto his fingers so she had something to keep herself upright.
“That’s it, little star, you’re doing it,” Loki’s voice, though encouraging, was the softest you’d ever heard them speak before, and it warmed your heart to see how gentle they were with your daughter. She was the first baby in the family, after all, and all four of you had spoiled her since the day she was born. You didn’t think there existed a more loved baby than her.
You continued to smile softly as you watched her take another wobbly step, and then another. But then her little knees seemed to give out with the effort and, despite Thor’s light grip on her hands, she fell back onto her rear.
Thor, worried that she might have hurt herself, immediately looked alarmed. “Shit.”
“Shit!”
You looked over at her so fast that you thought you might get whiplash, and realized that everyone else had done the same, at the exact same time, and for a long moment you looked at your daughter, and then at Hela, who was looking back at you with the same expression of pure shock that you knew must be on your own face.
“Shit!”
Sigrid repeating the word broke you out of your stupor and you looked back at her, finding her absolutely grinning as she looked between you and Thor, clearly expecting to be praised.
The silence was broken by Loki, who hit Thor with a book just hard enough that you weren’t entirely sure if he’d meant to actually hurt him or not. “Now you’ve done it, brother.”
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” Thor immediately looked up at you, with the most apologetic expression you’d ever seen in your life. And then he looked at Hela, and seemed to lose all color in his face.
That was when you decided to look at Hela. She looked remarkably calm, but you all knew her well enough to know that calm wasn’t exactly a good sign on Hela.
“Did you just have my daughter’s first word be a curse word?” Her voice was just as even as her expression, and you found yourself instinctually placing a hand on her arm to ground her, just in case.
“Hela. Sister, I swear it was an accident! Really! I didn’t mean to!”
“You’re in so much trouble.”
You only had a second to see Hela’s expression change from calm to playful for the briefest moment before she lunged at Thor with the most ridiculous war-cry you’d ever heard, and you relaxed, knowing that she was only playing with him.
It took Thor much longer to realize this, and he cowered as soon as he saw her coming toward him, pulling his hands up to protect himself. “Hela! Hela, please, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”
And then Hela tackled him and, rather than actually fight him, instead wrestled him to the ground, laughing all the while, and all you could do was laugh as you watched your entire family lose it, Sigrid repeating her first word in the background, smiling all the while.

Marvel Prompt, here we go!!!!
Prompt: Loki has become an avenger some time after the first Avengers movie, has gotten to open up a little, even reconciled with Clint, but is avoiding Thor outright or when unavoidable just doesn't talk to him.
Thor is understandably upset and decided that waiting was no longer an option as nothing has change, if anything it got worse. So what's he do? Grabs Loki, throws him over his shoulder, and heads to a quiet place where Thor can hold Loki in his lap and finally have a talk.
Loki, hissing and scratching at Thor like an angry kitten, refuses at first to explain what the problem is. Mostly trying to escape, then keep his eyes on the floor, and at the end of his rope just keep denying that anything is wrong.
Only when Thor demands that his 'little brother' answers him, Loki snaps that Thor isn't his real brother. He reveals that they aren't blood at all. Odin had lied for their entire lives. Loki tells Thor, in tears of frustration, that he is a frost giant and that he was avoiding Thor because of it.
(remember Thor tried to kill all the frost giants before, even expressing a deep hatred for them. Loki can't wrap his mind around any thought of Thor still loving him because of the truth, thinking Thor- the last and only real person to Loki- wouldn't care about him anymore. Wouldn't love him anymore. Loki sees Thor as the only person to truly love him, even more that his own mother- though he still loves her dearly-, and to lose that love would be everything.
Thor doesn't speak while Loki admits the truth, doesn't say anything for a while after. He looks at Loki for a solid few seconds. Then declares that Loki is lying when he says they aren't brothers, because family isn't just blood but also a bond between the people. Thor explains that he has many good memories with Loki, has the desire to protect him against everything, and wouldn't let him leave his side if he had his way. Thor admits that even though Loki isn't a blood relative he'd picked Loki as his family, he chose Loki as his family.
Loki cries truly for the first time in years, each word Thor speaks making it hard for him to move away or run. Loki ends up cuddling his brother, sobbing and letting out everything he'd been repressing inside. Thor just holds him, keeping watch for anything, protecting his little brother and keeping him close.
God these two are my favorite characters ever!!!
Please can a fanfiction writer take this and roll this into a great banger!!!!

Nights at the Circus: Part XXVIII
Conspiracies hidden within the walls of S.H.I.E.L.D. can wait. Knowing the truth about your past has only lit the spark of anger under your feet, and you decide that now is the time to take Loki and go confront your family once and for all so that you can finally let go of grudges and rise from the ashes.
SERIES MASTERLIST

You were nearly silent the entire way home on the train. The four of you sat facing one another, Loki’s seidr rendering you imperceptible as you plotted a way to get back into the Tower without notice.
“It will be much easier, we could even slip past them during the day if we went undercover like we are now, Loki,” said Wanda.
“Well, seeing as the train will arrive in New York about four in the afternoon, we may not have a choice, Pietro said.
Loki remained quiet as well, occasionally running his hand up and down your arm, as if it kept you anchored in reality when you seemed to drift off (not that it did much good).
How is it that we have such similar personal lives, yet we are opposites in nature? he thought to himself, looking as you continued to glare blanking with your forehead pressed against the window. It truthfully was a foreign feeling to the god. On Asgard, he’d been certain that no one else had a father (who was King) who kept their true parentage a secret for fear it would cause him to become a monster. Forced to repress everything, his skin, his eyes, his blood, all of it was off-limits, even after he learned the truth. Every night, Loki thought at least once: Where do I go from here? Accept my freakishness, and that I bring nothing but shame to my kin?
Yet here you were, another measure in the same sad song, attempting to see things differently. You were planning to bring your parents into your level, to give them a chance to explain themselves. Loki had never done so. He’d let the trauma drive his footsteps, because he could see that there was no other way. Had he possessed your own soul, perhaps he’d be in a different world today.
But of what worth would that be, if it meant you weren’t a part of it?
It will be a strange way to meet the family, Loki mused. Guess who’s coming to dinner?
“Is she doing better?” asked Wanda.
Loki snapped to attention. “I’m not sure. I can understand her anxieties.”
“We are all familiar with the feelings of our lives being kept from us,” Wanda responded. “It makes me wonder where we would all be now if our powers were never real, and we were all just normal people sitting on a train.”
Leaning back, Loki thought for a moment. “I cannot say. I’ve never known anything but Asgardian palaces, prison tanks, and chaos. I know of no other way.”
Wanda tilted her head as Pietro spoke up. “But if you could imagine?”
Loki shook his head. “I think I may be incapable.”
Wanda tsked. “That is very sad to hear.”
Pietro sighed. “I would have a lot of dogs. And live away from the city.”
Wanda laughed lightly. “Yes, that sounds like you. I would want to live in a house like The Brady Bunch and have as many children as they had.”
Thinking to himself and looking over to your nearly-unconscious body slumped against the side of the train, he bit his lip. I could take you to every star in the universe. Twice. You could set fire to the skies, and I would be there to temper your heat after you finished your work.
A lifetime of sitting in the driver’s seat of a smallish craft with you in the navigator’s chair beside him, laughing. teasing, and holding one another as you hopped from world to world (and being received on every one as honored guests and not wanted felons), was Loki’s happy ending. That was Vahalla.
“I suppose I’d like to see more of the Universe,” he said softly.
Wanda nodded. “Alone?” she asked, indicating you.
“I’d never leave her side,” he replied. “It would be an infinitely smaller place without her.”
“Excuse me” Pietro interjected, “I do not mean to break up this love-party, but perhaps we should talk about Mr. Sitwell?”
Loki shook his head. “I can try to help in any way I can, but you know more about these people than I, and Y/N needs me now.”
“You think we can stop him when S.H.I.E.L.D. does not even trust us to walk around without drugs or monitors?” Wanda retorted.
“I think this explains much,” interrupted Loki. “Why would they want to really suppress us, if not to maintain control while they reclaim what’s mine--ours?”
Wanda nodded. “It does make sense.”
Loki sadly looked over at you again, and noticed that you’d fully passed out by this point. He ran a gentle finger from your temple down in front of your ear and over your cheek, casting a mild spell to plant the perfect dream in your mind to give you a little relief from the hells of your waking life.
------------------
As Wanda had hypothesized, getting back into Avenger Tower was easier than getting out. You briefly saw the lightning damage to the building that Thor had bestowed while covering your escape, but no one noticed you each retreating to your rooms a little after 5 in the afternoon.
Before you lost your nerve entirely, you picked up the phone in your living room and dialed your old house number. Your oldest brother was the one who picked it up.
“Yo?”
You took a deep breath. “Tom?”
It was silence on the other end for a moment. “Holy shit, Y/N?”
“Yeah,” you said warily.
“It’s…ah…it’s really good to hear your voice, especially after we got the news.”
“News?”
“That you joined the Avengers,” he replied. “Last time you called, Jessie was still pregnant.”
“Yeah, I’ve been a bit busy. But does that mean my niece is here?”
It sounded like Tom sighed from the other end before dropping his voice. “Yeah, her name’s Fiamatta, after her Italian grandma.  And before you ask, we don't know if she’s, you know…like you.”
You cringed. Tom made it sound like you had herpes, not pyrokinesis. “About that,” you added, “Is Dad around?”
“Yeah sure, we’re all here for the big game, I’ll get him,” Tom said, putting the phone down for a moment that felt like an eternity.
“Hello?” asked a much deeper voice, one that made your spine freeze.
“Dad,” you said, trying like hell (and not very successfully) to sound collected.
“Oh, it’s you,” he replied, as if you were some nobody.
“Oh, it’s me, your only daughter is all,” you grunted. “Are you embarrassed that I got busted by Nick Fury and I’m working for the feds?”
“No, only that you didn’t learn a thing from me about keeping a low profile.”
“You are coming to the Tower tomorrow night,” you demanded. “For dinner at eight o’clock. I’ll tell the front desk to expect you.”
“Now, wait a minute, you expect me to--”
“--I know about Svetlana,” you interrupted. “About where she came from. I know it all. About Hydra. About her powers. And you’re going to tell me why you hate us both so much to my face tomorrow night, because you wouldn’t face her.”
The phone went silent again. For a moment, you thought he’d hung up on you.
“Fine.” Followed by a click and a dial tone.
You let every cell of yourself come undone as you carefully hung up the phone. You crumpled to the floor behind the sofa, so consumed in emotions that you didn’t hear Loki let himself in. “I had a feeling you’d need me after extending the invitation to your father,” he said. “And are you burning?”
You shot up upon hearing Loki’s voice, and extended your hand, where your arm was beginning to smoke again. You screamed, and it took Loki bounding across the room to get you to stop crying.
“See? This is what I was talking about,” you cried, showing your boyfriend your rapidly-dissolving arm. “I think the stress is literally killing me.”
Loki smiled, which was for once, something you didn;t expect of him. “Is this really what you were referring to, love?”
You shook your arm, as if the obvious peril of the situation wasn’t getting through to him. “Um, hello?”
Loki chuckled. “My dear, even I can sense that it is simply your natural defense maneuver.”
You caught your breath as your sobs tempered. “My what?”
“It’s almost a law of the nature of magic, that every being of power has defensive talents to balance out their destructive potential, whether or not they ever become aware of their existence. My illusions, for example. They can’t harm a person, but they certainly help me hide, don't they?”
You nodded, falling into his arms. He lowered you both onto the sofa, you still looking at your arm.
“But this is new to me,” you explained. “How can this be natural?”
“Your flames are natural to you, yet you didn’t have them at birth, correct?”
You nodded. “So, how do I control it?”
“That, I cannot tell you. You need to learn it for yourself,” he answered sadly.
Your arm completely disappeared into a grat smoke, but it didn’t stray far from where it had been before. “Strange thing it…it still feels like my arm,” you described. “Like, still solid?”
“Tell me, what else do you feel when this happens?” Loki asked gently. “Perhaps there is a clue in how it behaves. Try moving it.”
You sighed and did so, as if your arm was still solid and attached to the rest of your body. The smoke, indeed, moved as you commanded. “It feels like if I wanted it to, I could…”
The smoke finally let go of your feelings of attachment, and it wafted towards the ceiling, creating a hurricane spiral around the light on the ceiling. Loki watched with fascination.
“Oh, crap,” you muttered. “I don't want it to go too far. That’s my writing arm!”
As if you commanded it, the smoke spiraled back down to its former position, re-attaching itself before solidifying into the limb you knew and loved.
“Oh yes,” Loki remarked, “certainly a defensive talent. You will need to practice more than ever. This could make it easier for you to sneak around unnoticed. Perhaps…perhaps we could use it to discover more about this spy within our midst.”
You shook your head. “No, no, the last thing I need right now is more pressure to be useful.”
“Indeed, and I worry,” Loki confessed. “I can leave you to your supper tomorrow night, but I can also remain nearby if you think you may need me.”
You shook your head. “I want you.”
Loki chuckled at the comment in spite of himself. “I know that dearest, but a tumble in my bed will have to wait. What about your plans for tomorrow?”
You smiled at the joke, and it felt amazing to laugh again after all you’d seen and discovered over the past forty-eight hours. You took Loki’s hand, looking him in the eye. “I need you there. Please.”
Loki nodded. “What should I wear? I imagine my war horns wouldn’t make the best impression on a tax executive who hid away the greatest treasure on Midgard, would it?”
------------------------------------
Loki had to place another sleeping spell on you in order for you to be rested the following day, where you regrettably did nothing but zoom around, nearly as quickly as Pietro, after drinking what may have been a gallon of coffee to keep you alert. You had the help of Natasha and Bruce in preparing a simple but hearty meal of a lamb stew you knew your father loved as you were growing up. Thankfully, Thor didn’t skimp when you asked him to procure alcohol.
The day was soaking wet and rainy, as if to echo your dour mood. After arranging the table and ensuring the timely completion of the evening meal, you retreated into the library, curling up on a chair by a window, and you found yourself spending most of the afternoon staring at the rain to calm your fiery temper, preventing it from spilling over before your father was even due to arrive.
Several of the others stopped by to confirm that you were feeling ready to go through with this, and all offered to be a backup in case something went wrong.
“It sounds awful, what he did to you,” Steve said. “He isn’t the kind to get violent, is he?”
“Sounds like a man who doesn’t know shit,” Tony had quipped. “You’re better off cutting the strings, Sparky.”
“Please come by my room later so I can know how you’re doing, okay?” asked Nat.
You’d gotten dressed in your favorite indigo dress (the same one you’d gone to the theater with Loki wearing), and done your hair conservatively in an attempt to quell any fears your father already had  against you.
Finally, the one you were hoping would come by before zero hour came by to sit with you, holding your hand the entire afternoon.
“Water again?” he asked.
You nodded. “I will never not be drawn to running water,” you affirmed. “I hope I die on a boat.”
Loki chuckled. “I hope you don’t die at all.”
Darling, how is it that even now you can make me smile? you thought.
“What is it that you hope to get out of tonight’s confrontation?” asked Loki.
You thought a moment. “Peace of mind,” you replied. “I always thought the family I was raised with was where my home was. Then I thought my circus family was where I belonged. I feel like, after tonight, there really won’t be anywhere I belong at all…but at least I will have closure.”
Loki nodded. “And so you shall,” he vowed, kissing the back of your hand. “But what if you cannot come to terms?”
Shrugging, you looked at your feet uncomfortably. “I suppose that will be that, and he and I will go our separate ways permanently.”
“Whatever will be best,” Loki agreed.
Looking up at your lover again, you saw the concern in his eyes. “Are you sure you want to do this? I am grateful you will be there, but I don’t want you to feel like I’m forcing you to--”
“--on the contrary,” he interrupted, shaking his head. “My curiosity draws me to the man who helped give you life, then chose to keep it from you at the first test.”
“No, he’s really not a horned villain like you think he is.”
“He’s worse,” Loki replied. “But he also started you down the path that led you to me.”
“That’s true,” you said quietly as you leaned your head onto his broad, solid shoulder. “I only hope that I don’t discover later that I’m just like him.”
“You aren’t, and even without knowing him, I know this,” insisted Loki. “I know this because here you are, waiting for the moment you finally bring those walls down for good. That was something…something even I wasn’t capable of.”
You swallowed, absorbing his words. “Please don’t see that as a weakness. You did what your mind told you to do in the moment, whether for better or worse. I only wish YOUR father and the UN understood it.”
“Excuse me, Y/N? Loki?” Steve was in the doorway, timidly addressing you. “He’s here.”
Loki cordially helped you to your feet, and you went towards the door. “Thank you, Steve,” you said, smiling as well as you could. You took Loki’s hand, giving it a gentle squeeze, and began to walk past Steve and toward the conference room where the meal was set up.
“Oh, Firebird?” Steve called from behind you.
You turned on your heels. “Yes?”
Steve gave you the sweetest, most sincere smile you’d seen on his face. “I’m rooting for you.”
You wanted to begin crying again, but puffy red eyes wouldn’t do. “T…thank you,” you said, your lip trembling slightly as the emotions were already starting to flood your brain.
“That is very kind of you, Rogers,” Loki said in a low voice.
Steve nodded. “Well, we are a family here.”
You felt a burst of warmth in your heart at the words. We are a family here. It gave you courage.
After you walked away with Loki, he leaned over and whispered in your ear. “See, my pet? You do belong somewhere.”
The walk still felt a bit like a death march that lasted months. You even felt a little tired when you reached the door. You put your fingers on the handle, then turned back to Loki again.
“This is your last chance to bug out, I won’t fault you!” you warned one last time.
Loki placed his hand on top of yours on the door knob. “I would never dream of it.”
Opening the door, you saw him sitting at the head of the conference table, his natural place, leaning back in the chair, his arms casually crossed in front of his chest, as if the event bringing him here was completely casual. He didn’t bother getting up when you entered the room. The table itself was set for three, and Nat had done a decent job making the place feel formal without looking like a magazine setup.
He did, however, look you up and down with disapproval in his gaze. “You brought a boyfriend? Is he a wizard too?”
You sighed woefully. What a wonderful start!  You dug around in the deepest sections of your mind for a reasonable response, and all you could muster was:
“Hey Dad, you’re looking…um…yes.”

It's okay if I call you that?
Summary:
Something as trivial as building a pillow fort can lead to a moment of intense emotion...

I know this isn't the first time I've brought up the topic of kid Loki calling them dad, but this prompt gave me the idea: here

Young Loki was lying on the couch reading, so engrossed in his reading that he didn't hear the noises and grunts coming from his room.
He was pulled out of his concentration by Mobius who called, "Loki! Where are all the pillows?"
Knowing that he was not the one being addressed, the young boy did not answer, but got up and walked towards where the voice was coming from, curious.
He arrived in front of his room where Mobius was already standing. He had his hands on his hips and was asking, "What's going on here?"
Mobius walked into the room followed by the young Loki who could not help but laugh at the sight before his eyes.
Loki and Croki had piled up all the pillows from the house and made a makeshift fort.
Loki brandished a broom and exclaimed, "I'm Prince Charming coming to rescue his prince Mobius and crown prince Loki from the evil dragon who kidnapped and locked them up!"
Mobius pointed at Croki with an amused smile. "And I suppose you are the evil dragon?"
Croki growled in response, "Fnarlll."
Loki exclaimed, a mischievous glint in his eye, "Besides, it was his idea!'
Croki growled again and young Loki chuckled, "Of course, Dad, it's the alligator's fault...".
A long silence followed and the boy realized when he saw the stunned looks of Mobius and Loki that this was the first time he had called Loki dad.
It had been a long time in his mind that he considered Mobius and Loki as his fathers but he had never dared to say it out loud.
What was he supposed to say? Should he apologize? What if they didn't see it that way? Maybe they would send him away?
He was interrupted in his spiraling, as he found himself caught in a four-armed hug.
Pressed between the two chests, he whispered, " Is it okay if I call you that?"
The two men, still holding him in their arms, moved a little to look at him, "Of course it's okay, if that's how you feel."
He looked in turn at Loki and Mobius, the two men who had given him a new life, and nodded, "Yes, that's how I feel." He added with a shy smile, "Dads."
They embraced him again and this time were interrupted by a grunt.
"Fnrrrl."
Croki reminded himself to them, a little miffed that he wasn't part of the party. Then young Loki leaned over to hug him.
But because of the stacked pillows, his balance was a bit precarious and he toppled forward into the pillows.
As Loki and Mobius were still close to him, they too were dragged down and all three of them ended up on the floor in a tangle of limbs and pillows.
They were soon joined by a Croki who was happy to have them on his level.
They looked at each other and laughed out loud, the living image of family bliss.

Little God:
Chapter 1
Thor gritted his teeth and offered yet another offer of peaceful resolution to Loki. Loki for his part sneered at it. All of his protestations that they were brothers amounted to nothing. They had never really been brothers. Their lives had been tales of lies and nothing Thor said would change that. However unwitting he had been, he had still been a part of it. Loki had a million spells and it would take more than a few bolts of lightning to stop him. He would end Thor and humiliate him as he did so. He wouldn't have a hero's death. He would die painfully and mercilessly and the world and all who thought he was special would see it.
Loki's lip curled as he thought of it. He would strip Thor of his glory and leave him exposed as the same selfish, weakling that everyone else was. He would show the world and their father that he was a flawed nothing. Brotherhood meant nothing. Their magic clashed as these thoughts filled his head. The lightning flew and Loki snarled. He might have been more outmatched than he had originally anticipated. In a rush he twisted to the side to avoid a hammer strike. Thor looked at him with pathetic eyes, asking him to stop the fight. To give himself up peacefully. Loki's snarl twisted more grotesquely.
With desperation he cast the first spell he could think of and with luck he hit Thor straight in the chest. The other Asguardian stopped in his tracks with wide eyes and Loki leaned forward, shocked that of all the magic he had at his disposal he had hit his mark with one of his least aggressive spell. He watched with somewhat cruel fascination as Thor fell to his knees and began to change. Then a sudden jolt went through him as it dawned on him what kind of spell he'd cast. Slowly before his eyes Thor grew smaller and more child-like and then very suddenly he was a simple child, looking wondrously lost and dazed in his now oversize armor.
Loki didn't like it. His intent had been to kill. To rid himself of his foolish brother. Not to do this. Even when the thought that his brother was now helpless before him crossed his mind he was repulsed by it. He took a step backwards and his face crumpled with horror. He wanted to flee. To leave the place and find shelter from his mistakes. This was too much. He was repulsed by the child now standing, clutching at the armor his wore, now to heavy for him. Thor looked at him with wide and puzzled eyes. "Loki!" He said with surprise as he figured out who was standing in front of him. Loki hissed in displeasure as the sound of the boy's voice evoked memories. He wanted them to be bad memories. He wanted them to be memories of suffering and cruelty but they were not. They were memories of good times of childhood merriment and play. "Don't speak." He hissed. He wanted to clamp his hands to his ears. He didn't think he could take this.
Thor instead broke into a smile of boyish delight. "Why are you grown up?" He asked, voice echoing with curious wonder.
Loki wanted to escape. He didn't want to be faced with his brother like this. It was painful. "I just am." He found himself saying lamely.
"Can you make me grown up too?! I want to see what I'll look like."
Loki wanted to hurt him to make him stop talking and he felt a sudden rush of pain because he couldn't hurt him now. Not like this. Not his brother like this. But he didn't think he could take the boy talking. He made him think of things. Good things and he didn't want to think of those. It was wrong. It was terribly wrong. He didn't want to think of hearing stories at his father's knee or of his mother. He didn't want to think of Thor dragging him into adventurous games. Those had been good times but they were built on lies. Lies. He reminded himself. All lies. And Thor even this child Thor was part of those lies. An unknowing liar.
He turned away. He was justified in his hate. He was justified in his actions. He was justified pure and simple. Lies were unbecoming. Lies were unforgivable. He looked through the corner of his eye at Thor. The boy was smiling and looking around. He couldn't have been more than eight,."Loki where are we?"
"We're having an adventure." He said simply, quietly.
Are we? What is the adventure?"
"Sleep." Loki cast a spell, unable to endure the brightness in the voice, the happiness, the trust, the love. The boy's eyes drifted close and it was only with effort Loki caught him before the child hit the ground. He held him for a moment. An older brother for once and how his skin burned at the contact. Thor's flesh was hot and full of life and energy. Full of trust and love. He didn't think he could stand it.
He debated leaving the boy there. Leaving him on the grassy slope. They were somewhere in Midguard. A mountain rage perhaps. Not important where. They would not be found. If he left him Thor would not be found. He would simply sleep. He could make him sleep. Make him sleep forever. Just lie there and sleep like in a fairy tale. He wanted to. It wouldn't be a cruel death for a child. Yet this was his brother. Visions of childhood flashed through his mind. Visions of playing and learning and growing and so many other things shared. Love and happiness. But those weren't for him anymore. He had set his path to hatred and now this sleeping child of love and good memories burned his flesh to hold. He wanted to be rid of the boy. It was painful to be near him and made his heart hurt.

Dude Looks like a Lady

Characters: Loki & OCs
Rating: T (language… and mentions of ‘Twilight’—reader discretion advised because of the latter)
Genre: Humor and family
Summary: A short tale involving denim shorts, a crop top, a mortified teenage girl, and a chaos god that doesn’t give a shit.
Being over a millennium old, Loki had had many experiences both good and bad.  Finding out he was a Frost Giant; ruling over Asgard for a brief time; attempting to take over Earth and being imprisoned for it; helping Thor avenge the death of their mother and protect the woman he loved and being killed in the process; being brought back to life—just a few of the highlights.  But none of these or any other past experiences could ever have come close to those that came along with being the guardian of a sixteen-year-old Midgardian female that he now found himself encountering on a daily basis.  No, such a lifestyle—as well as his charge, Brynn—was proving quite the education.
One of the most recent experiences had centered around the seemingly mundane concept of laundry.  Aside from the fact that, until the last year on Earth, Loki had never done laundry in his life (that’s what servants were for and what being a prince granted you); Loki had never realized how much of a hassle the chore was.  First, there was the sorting: whites and colors had to be separated; denim and heavier fabrics were best sorted into their own piles rather than clumped together with everything else; delicates needed a pile of their own as well.  Then there was the washing; whites used hot water, everything else could be cold or warm water; delicates should often be handled by the instructions on the tag and this often meant hand-washing; heavily soiled clothing shouldn’t just be thrown in the washer—it had to have a little extra care in order to get them effectively clean and avoid unsightly stains; you had to adjust the size of the loads so that there’d be enough water in the machine to actually get the clothes clean; and always remember to put the soap in or else you’re just rinsing the clothes and you might as well just use a hose if that’s the idea.
The drying process was much easier, though sometimes you had to make a judgment call on whether to use the dryer or the clothesline outside.  (On at least a couple occasions, the weather forecast had gone unnoticed and Brynn and Loki had ended up outside racing the storm clouds in an effort to get the half-dry laundry off the line before it got soaked again.)
But if sorting through dirty clothes was the most unpleasant part of the laundry process, the most boring process, by far, was folding.  Not only was it tedious to fold the clothing it was also tedious to once again sort through the clothes so the right person ended up with the right garments.  It was also somewhat awkward.  Neither of them enjoyed handling each other’s underthings, nor the idea of the other handling them.
In part, that was the main reason for the decision for them to each do their own laundry.  They were both more than capable of this by now (though sometimes Loki did still ask Brynn for help if he was unsure or something slipped his mind), and it was much easier to keep track of what belonged to who and made them far more comfortable.  But, once in a while, something occurred that would lead to someone’s clothes ending up in the wash with someone else’s.  Such a case was what led to Loki’s most recent experience with Brynn.
It had started off innocently enough.  Loki had just thrown a load of his shirts into the washing machine when Brynn had arrived home from school and walked through the back door soaked and muddy….
“What happened to you?” Loki chuckled, arms crossed as he leaned against the doorpost.  He looked the sixteen-year-old up and down.
Brynn scowled at him, lips curled into a snarl and a slight growl rumbling out of her chest.  She was not in the mood for his teasing.  “Slipped and fell on my ass in the mud walking up the driveway,” she grumbled.  “About half a dozen times!  Seriously, we need to get some rock put down that thing, or else someone’s gonna end up breaking their leg after a rainstorm, and it’ll probably be me!”  The teen angrily dropped her mud-splattered book bag to the mudroom floor, tossed her sandals (which she’d been carrying) to the side, and kicked off her dirty rain boots.  Afterward, she eyed the bag a bit dolefully.  “You can magic this clean right?” she asked, looking at her guardian with hopeful, blue-gray eyes.
The raven-haired god looked over the bag with pursed lips, taking in the damage, before finally nodding affirmatively.  “I can do something about that,” he assured her with a smirk.  “I am a master sorcerer after all.”
Brynn smiled, looking rather relieved.  “Good!  ‘Cuz I think the books inside are wet too.”
The Asgardian’s brilliant green eyes suddenly widened in mock alarm and he splayed his hands across his chest with a dramatic gasp.  “Odin forbid!  We mustn’t allow such tragedy to befall such remarkable tomes of knowledge!”  Loki found what Brynn’s school so laughably referred to as “educational reading material” was really anything but educational and the most mind-numbingly dull works of text he’d ever come across in his life.  At least most of them.  Her science book could be fairly interesting from time to time.  As could her literature one.
The girl gave him a hard look, albeit a playful one.  “Well, if you wanna pay for the damage done to school text-books fine then, go ahead.  They’re all pretty much falling apart anyway, they’re so old.”  Then she grew serious as she added, “But seriously, at least save my reading book—it’s Maddie’s and she’ll kill me if I ruin it.”
Loki rolled his eyes at the mention of the dreaded book.  “Ruining that monstrosity would only be an act of mercy for the world,” he remarked dryly.  He shook his head and raised an eyebrow.  “Why on earth would you ever agree to read something so…”
“Moronic and gross?” Brynn finished for him with a flat look.  “‘Cuz Maddie got sick of me ragging on ‘Twilight’ when I’d only ever seen the movies and never read the books.  She only agreed to let me keep doing it until after I’d read the books too.  If I wanted to, that is.”
         “And do you?”
There wasn’t even a moment’s hesitation, just an insistent, “Yes.”
The god snorted.  “Very well,” he sighed, “I will see that the sparkly vampires are saved along with everything else.”  He then looked Brynn over again.  The girl certainly must have taken a tumble.  Her curly blonde hair, which had been braided down her back when she’d left for school that morning, was coming undone and sticking out in odd angles with mud and rainwater: In fact, she almost looked brunette now!  Her arms and legs were caked with mud, and her face looked like it had been covered in a mud mask that she’d haphazardly wiped off.  Brynn very much looked like something from a horror story that had just crawled out of a muddy bog.  “Would you like for me to do the same with you, or are you planning on joining a colony of swamp monsters?” he teased.
Brynn gave him another scowl.  “Ha, ha, you’re a riot, Loks.”  Then she looked herself over and shook her head with a heavy sigh.  “No, don’t worry about me,” she answered his previous question.  “This stuff needs to be washed anyway.”  The teen flapped her vest in reference. “It’s been tainted with Nina’s godawful, cotton-candy scented pew-fume.” She met Loki’s gaze again, her nose wrinkled in disgust as she added, “And, unfortunately, the same goes for me.”
The God of Mischief nodded.  “Very well,” he sighed, moving towards her.  “I already have some of my clothes washing, but you can go ahead and add your things to it—we’ll sort them out later.  No, no kiss now!” he exclaimed.  Brynn had been going up on tip-toe to administer her usual ‘hello’ kiss to his cheek, but Loki put up a hand to hold her off.  “I have no desire to be muddied up with you.  It can wait until after you’ve cleaned up.”  With that, the man made a slight wave of his hand.  “There should be a towel waiting for you on the counter of the laundry room now,” he commented as Brynn began to make her way to the door that led to said room.  “You be sure to towel off as much mud as you can in the laundry room and wrap your hair up before going up to shower,” he instructed warningly.  “I don’t want muddy tracks leading all over the house.”
Brynn snorted.  “Whatever you say, Mom.”
“Hmm.  And here I thought you were going to insult me.”
Smiling, Brynn rolled her eyes and opened the laundry room door.  She was about to go inside when she stopped and looked back over her shoulder to see that Loki had picked up her bag and was inspecting it and its contents a bit more closely.  He was distracted—excellent!  Pivoting around, the girl lunged at the tall, lanky man and, before he could react, tackled him in a big, muddy, wet, full-body hug, almost knocking him over.  She planted a sloppy kiss on his cheek.  “Mmmwah!  Loveya, bigbrother, you’rethegreatest—thanks!”  As quickly as she’d embraced him she released him and barreled back towards the door, grinning smugly.
Recovering from the shock of the ambush, Loki whipped around with a glare.  “Brynna May Hagel!” he barked.  But Brynn had already disappeared through the door; the god could hear her giggling with triumphant glee in the laundry room on the other side.  That caused his scowl to quickly melt away into a soft smile, and he shook his head with a chuckle.  Ah, Brynn….  She was an infuriating, little Machiavellian, that one.  But she was his infuriating, little Machiavellian, and the trickster god couldn’t be happier or more proud.
With a sigh, Loki looked himself over to assess the damage his little troublemaker had done to him.  “Well, it would appear I’ll have to magic myself clean as well now.  Thank you so very much, Princess.”  Then he caught a whiff of a strong cotton candy scent.  Nose wrinkling in disgust just as Brynn’s had, the man curled his lip and groaned, “‘Pew-fume’ indeed.”
And that’s where it had started: Brynn—under his suggestion—had thrown her soiled garments in with his because it was simply the most sensible and convenient thing to do.  She’d promised to come and get them later and fold them herself.  Great, wonderful—no big deal, Loki hadn’t cared; they were just clothes after all and he could handle folding a few of her things once in a while just as she could in reverse.  But since she had said she would deal with them later herself, Loki had taken her at her word and left it at that.  So when the load had finished the cycle and he’d put it all in a basket and brought it back up to his room in order to put things away, the man had let Brynn know that her clothes were ready for retrieval.
That had been four weeks ago.  An entire month.  The clothes—a pair of high-waisted shorts, a graphic crop top, and a denim vest—were still lying in the clothes basket, waiting to be folded and put away.  And they weren’t even in his room anymore; the basket was sitting out in the hall beside his bedroom door which Brynn had to walk by in order to get to and from her own bedroom.  So it wasn’t as though she didn’t see them there and was able to forget about them.  But the clothes were still there.  The teen hadn’t even so much as pulled the vest out of it to wear it again—she just left them all there unnoticed.
Loki had finally taken to reminding his charge about them and suggesting she put them away.  It was only a few articles after all; it would take no time at all.  And every time he had, Brynn had nodded her head and waved a dismissive hand, declaring that she would “get to it later” and that she had “something else on her mind at the moment”.  On some occasions, she had: There had been a science project that had taken both her and Loki all night to complete; then there had been the assignment for literature in which she’d had to rewrite the American Constitution in her own words; then there had been the practice PSAT tests that the school’s guidance counselor had sent home a few times because, apparently, “it was never too soon to start getting ready”.  But as many times as there had been something else to occupy her time, there had been even more moments when Brynn could have turned attention to her clothes and put them away.  After all, once again, it was only three articles of clothing.  But she hadn’t.
Now, it was true that Loki could have taken it upon himself to fold her clothes and put them away for Brynn, or even just toss them into her room on her bed.  Again, it was only a few garments, and all of them, thankfully, were of the outerwear variety.  And, admittedly, the god had considered it.  Hel, he wouldn’t have even had to do it by hand—he could have just magicked them to reappear in their appropriate places folded/hung up and ready to go for the next time.  But the simplicity of the task wasn’t really the point.  The point was that Brynn had stated, for a fact, that she would take care of and put her clothes away herself.  She’d promised to.  And so far she wasn’t holding to it.
While it might have seemed hypocritical for him, Loki, a literal trickster god, to make a thing about his charge not holding to her word, in truth, promises were something Loki took quite seriously.  Especially where the people he cared most about were concerned.  So the fact that Brynn, someone he indeed cared very deeply for, was not sticking to something she’d sworn to do, did not sit well with him on both a personal and moral level.  There was also the simple fact of the god finding this dismissive, lazy, irresponsible behavior of hers rather irksome and was doing his best to break her of it.  After all, he was her main parental figure now; it was his job to help her grow into a responsible, well-rounded, well-adjusted adult.
It was because of all these participating factors that Loki finally decided it was time to teach Brynn a little lesson about responsibility and keeping her word.  It wouldn’t be anything too drastic, just something to get the message across.  And while simple communication usually did prove to be an excellent teaching tool, with some people it just didn’t have an effective enough impact.  Unfortunately, Brynn could be one of those people.  And also unfortunately (at least for Brynn) Loki was the type of teacher that, when presented with an opportunity where he could either teach a lesson via communication or in a more active way, he tended to choose the more active way.  Especially when the more active way allowed him to have a bit of fun.  After all, his title wasn’t ‘God of Mischief’ for nothing!
“Look, I’m not saying the movie is gonna be bad,” Devon declared with all sincerity.  “All I’m saying is that these people are idiots!  I mean, seriously, this is the same universe where the original Jurassic Park happened—and we all know how well that turned out—but we still think it’s a great idea to go and make another one after everything that happened before?  “Oh, we can control the dinosaurs this time around!”  I think the first park proved that you can’t control the dinos!”
“That and they’ve genetically engineered a totally new dinosaur that’s never existed before,” Sean added.  “Because that’s such a great idea.”
“Exactly!” Devon exclaimed, clapping his buddy on the shoulder.  “Thank you!”
         “No problem, bud.”
It was a balmy, summer night, and Brynn and her group of friends—Devon McCredie siblings Sean and Madilyn Asher, and Caitlyn Willis—were all gathered out by the pickup.  They had plans to attend the local theater that evening for the premiere of Jurassic World.  Being Jurassic Park fans, the group had made plans to see the movie all the way back after the first trailer had dropped.  Now it was here, and they were not about to miss it.
Brynn smirked as she remarked, “Well, we can’t be too hard on their decision-making, can we?”  She exchanged a significant look with Maddie and Caitlyn that only teenage girls can share with each other.  “I mean, it’s giving us Chris Pratt, right?  Who can say that’s a bad thing?”
Maddie and Caitlyn enthusiastically murmured their agreement.
“Oh, please,” Devon snorted, rolling his eyes.  “You guys just like him ‘cuz you like how his ass looks in the trailer.”
“Also because he’s sweet, funny, handsome, and charming,” Maddie added.
“He wears a shirt that shows off just a little bit of chest,” Brynn continued.
“And he’s got gorgeous blue eyes,” Caitlyn sighed.  “I love blue eyes….”
At that statement, a funny look came over Sean’s face and he looked down at Caitlyn, whom he had an arm wrapped around.  “Y-you love blue eyes?” he stuttered rather meekly.  He looked more than a little put out by this.
Smiling warmly and reassuringly back up at him, Caitlyn reached up and caressed his cheek.  She gazed at him adoringly.  “Not half as much as I love brown, baby,” she soothed him.
With that, Sean smiled back before turning his face into her hand and gently kissing her palm.
The rest of the group groaned, Maddie adding in an extra gag.
“Ugh, get a room, guys!” Brynn sniggered.
“I thought we agreed no PDA in the group,” Devon teased at the same time.
“I knew it was a bad idea for my brother and one of my best friends to start dating,” Maddie lamented.  She, as opposed to the other two, seemed like she was only half-joking.  And maybe she was: Madilyn had yet to get used to the fact that her big brother and best friend since preschool were a serious item.  It was very strange, especially since Caitlyn and Sean used to bully each other all through elementary and middle school.  And, even more especially, just because—again—it was her brother and one of her best friends.
“Shut up!” Sean and Caitlyn shot back, playfully glaring at their pals.
Snickering, Devon looked down at his watch.  “6:30,” he informed everyone as he looked up again.  “We need to get there by at least 7:15 if we want our good seats.  I asked my cousin to try and save ‘em for as long as he can, but if we don’t get going soon…” he trailed off as everyone would know what he meant.
All gazes suddenly turned to Brynn.
Noticing this, the sixteen-year-old rolled her eyes in annoyance and crossed her arms defensively over her chest.  “He knows the timeline, guys,” she assured them.  “He’ll get us there on time. … He might frickin’ NASCAR drive the whole way, but he’ll get us there—so relax.”
Loki was their designated chaperone for the movie that night.  Usually, the kids would have just gone themselves but as Devon’s car was in the shop, Sean’s new car was only big enough for two people (specifically himself and Caitlyn), and the only one of the girls who had their license yet was Maddie and she’d gotten it revoked after dinging up her car for the fourth time in a month, they were left virtually transportation-less without an adult.  That and, plus, since the prom incident, their parents seemed to have come to the conclusion that it would be better if they were chaperoned, even though the prom had been a one-time incident and, in all honesty, an adult probably wouldn’t be able to stop what had happened and prom from happening again.  So, because of that, Loki had become the default chaperone.  Of all their caretakers, he was definitely the one that was the coolest: He generally stayed out of their business and gave them their space.  And, apart from that, he was a literal Asgardian god and a master sorcerer.  So, you know, in case something like prom did go down again, he was really the best—and only—line of protection they could have.  Plus it was just really epic to have a literal god hanging around with them.  Because when people found out you had a god on your team, they just didn’t mess with you.  (Not that any of the kids ever flaunted that they hung around and were friends with a god. … Much….)
“Well, what’s taking him so long?” Caitlyn asked of the man in question.  “I mean, god or not, he’s a guy; how long can it possibly take for him to get ready?”
Brynn gave her friend a flat look.  “You clearly do not know Loki,” she stated.  “Seriously, if you guys think I can be bad when I get ready to go out, you are all in for a rude awakening.”
There was the familiar sound of the front door of the Hagel farmhouse opening and closing.
Devon, who was facing the house directly as he leaned against the side of the vehicle, lifted his gaze up the slight incline to the house.  Almost immediately, and rather violently, he averted his gaze, covering his eyes as if they’d just been burnt.  “Ohgod--myeyes!” he howled.  “My eyes!”
The rest of the group gave him alarmed looks before turning to see what he was reacting to.  A chorus of horrified, earsplitting, inhuman screeches rang out through the otherwise quiet evening, one, in particular, quite a bit louder and more horrified sounding than the others.
Looking utterly mortified, Brynn sprinted up the sidewalk toward the cause of their reactions.  “Loki!”  She skidded to a stop in front of the Asgardian and held her arms out as wide as she could on either side, as she would if she were trying to head an animal off from a direction she didn’t want.  Apparently, the girl thought this would work on Loki as well.  “What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” she wailed.
Stopping in his tracks, the green-eyed man fixed her in a gallingly innocent stare, even going so far as to tilt his head to the side like a confused puppy.  “What do you mean?” he questioned with just as much innocence.  “I’m ready to take you all to the movie.”
White as a sheet, except for her face, which was turning a brilliant color of reddish pink due to her embarrassment and exasperation, Brynn fixed the trickster with a heated glare.  “That’s not what I mean and you know it!” she hissed.
Raising an eyebrow, Loki crossed his arms over his chest and released a patient sigh.  The action only caused Brynn’s ire to rise even more.  “Brynn,” he addressed her calmly, “if you want me to understand what you mean, you’re going to have to speak more clearly.”  While his face remained placid and serene, the god was smirking a mile-wide and snickering devilishly inside.  This was almost too much fun!
Knowing full well his cool and collected demeanor did not match what was really going on inside that twisted, raven-haired head of his and becoming even more flustered by it, Brynn clenched her hands into fists.  Oh, she wanted to hit him!  She hadn’t wanted to hit him this badly since the point at the beginning of their relationship when they’d hated each other!  She could do it!  If she really wanted to, she could do it, and, boy, she really, really wanted to!  But that wouldn’t get her what she wanted.  Nothing except keeping her cool and playing along with Loki’s game—whatever the hell it was—would get her what she wanted.  And that was a tall order to deal with:  What she wanted was directly tied to what was making her want to hit him.  And knowing Loki, he was going to drag this out for as long as he could to make her suffer with her humiliation all the more.  He was sadistic like that.
So, setting her jaw, Brynn enunciated, very slowly, through teeth clenched so tightly they might shatter, “What.  The hell.  Are.  You.  Wearing?”
For you see, this is why Brynn was so cross with Loki that she wanted to hit him, why she was so mortified that she might keel over and die: he was wearing her clothes.  Yes, that’s right, the lanky, 6’2, 206 pounds, full-grown Asgardian God of Mischief had managed to stuff himself into clothes that were meant for a 5’5, 130 pound, teenaged girl of average build.  And it looked about as terrifyingly hideous as you could imagine.
Brynn’s insides squirmed uncomfortably as she looked him over.  He had to have magicked this stuff in order to even get it on, but even then it all still fit him poorly: her high-waisted shorts rode nauseatingly high up on his legs and hips, so much so that the bottoms of his buttocks were exposed (not a good look for guys!); her crop top clung to him almost like it was another layer of skin and stretched across his chest so tightly that it distorted the Wonder Woman graphic so much she looked obese; and her vest… it fit so tightly across his broad shoulders that it crinkled and stuck out in a strange way at the bottom where it should have hung loose.  It all just added up to one massive nightmare.
Looking as though he had no idea what she was talking about, Loki looked down at his attire before meeting Brynn’s gaze again.  “I’m wearing clothes,” he answered simply.  That would only help to irk the teen off more.
Brynn felt a new flame of irritation flare up inside her at that answer.  Oh, he was so gonna get it!  (If she didn’t die of embarrassment first.)  “No,” she corrected, trying to keep her voice even.  “You’re wearing my clothes—there’s a big difference.”
Loki’s brows furrowed and his eyes narrowed as if he’d just heard something fishy and wasn’t sure whether he’d believed it or not.  “No,” he shook his head, “these are my clothes.”
Brynn gawped at him in bewilderment at that.  His clothes?!  What?!  Had the God of Mischief finally gone insane?!  “What are you talking about?” she scoffed incredulously.  “That’s my shirt, those are my shorts, and that is my vest!  But I don’t need to tell you this because you know that those are my clothes, so, I’ll ask again, what the hell do you think you’re doing?”
The man gave her a slightly annoyed look.  “And again, I am ready to take you all to the movie,” he responded firmly.  “And, yes, these are my clothes—you gave them to me.”
The blonde stared at him for the longest time, trying to process what he’d just said.  “Yep,” she finally murmured, wide-eyed and pale, “you’ve finally snapped there, Merlin.”
Loki’s lip curled into a snarl.  “I have not snapped,” he growled.  “I thought we left the “insanity” business behind us some time ago, Brynn.”
“Well, how the heck else am I supposed to explain this?!”
“I just did: You gave these clothes to me.”
“No, I didn’t, Loki!”
“Yes, you did, Brynn.”
“When the hell did I do that?!”
“Well, to be honest, it wasn’t so much an outright gesture as it was a quietly implied transferal.”
Once again, Brynn stared at her guardian, perplexed.  “What?”
Sighing in a longsuffering way (once again, just to piss Brynn off further), the god recounted, “A month ago you came walking through the door covered in mud, dressed in this very outfit, mind you.  At my suggestion, you put these things in the washer along with a load of my laundry.  You did so and promised me that later on when everything was finished, you would come to retrieve your clothes and put them away yourself.  You didn’t.  Even as I reminded you about them and set them out in the basket in the hallway, you still didn’t.  I naturally assumed that that meant you had no desire to keep these clothes any longer.”
It took all of Loki’s considerable willpower to not burst out into outrageous guffaws at the look on his charge’s face in reaction to this explanation.  Priceless!  If only he’d had a camera!  Her blue-gray eyes about the size of dinner plates and her jaw dropped to the sidewalk, Brynn looked quite lost for anything to say.  Which was saying something, considering she always seemed to have something to say.
“I… but… you… er… uh…” Brynn fumbled around for a response.  It was a next-to-impossible feat, she was so dumbstruck.  Finally, she managed to snag onto something: “You’re insane!”
Again that glower came back to Loki’s face.  Joking or not, getting the reaction he wanted out of Brynn or not, he did not appreciate being called “insane”.  “Crazy” was one thing—he couldn’t very well deny that allegation—but he was not “insane”.  “Brynna May,” he growled in warning.
“Loki, if I don’t want clothes anymore, I will put them in a box or bag and let you know so that we can take them to Goodwill or something,” Brynn tried to explain as calmly and rationally as she could.  “I’m not gonna give them to you!  Silently, verbally, or otherwise!”
“How was I to know that?  You did leave them in a laundry basket next to my room.”
Brynn exploded.  “YOU ASSHAT, YOU’RE NOT STUPID!!!”
“No, I’m not, but that’s redundant.”
“This entire conversation is redundant!” Brynn shrieked, hands waving wildly around.  “Loki, I don’t know what the hell kinda lesson you’re trying to teach me here, but get to the moral already, please!  I’m begging you!”
The man shook his head.  “There is no lesson, Brynn,” he assured her.  “As I’ve stated before, I’m wearing clothes that you gave to me-”
“THEY ARE GIRLS’ CLOTHES!!!”
“And I think they’re utterly adorable.”
“Yeah!  On me!  They make you look like Ken if he got dressed when he was still half-asleep and put on Barbie’s clothes by accident!”
A radiant smile beamed across Loki’s angular face.  “Why, thank you!”
“LOKI!!!”
Cringing at the volume of her screech, the God of Mischief gave his charge a disapproving look.  Brynn had a propensity for the over-dramatic, but that didn’t give her an excuse to forget her manners and yell in such a way when she was standing barely a foot in front of him.  “Brynna May Hagel,” Loki scolded, “watch your tone.  You don’t need to yell—I am standing right here.”
“Oh, believe me, I know!” Brynn huffed, crossing her arms over her chest and glaring back at her guardian.  She ran her eyes over him and his unbelievable attire again.  “Good god, do I… By.  Odin’s.  Beard!  Didyoushaveyourlegs?!”
Again that bright and maddening grin.  “Why, yes, I did!” Loki chirruped, looking down at his long, muscular legs himself.  He pivoted around in a rather effeminate way so that Brynn could see his limbs from all sides (almost making Brynn lose her lunch when she got a full view of what his ass looked like in her shorts).  “It was an experience, let me tell you,” he remarked.  “It took up a lot of time and I wasn’t sure if I should do it, but they looked ghastly otherwise.”
“As opposed to now?” Brynn muttered, shielding her eyes.  As much as she adored her guardian—which was saying much because she absolutely loved him to pieces—it made the sixteen-year-old highly uncomfortable to see him in such a state of undress.  Or was it more of a… “dressed but very inappropriately” situation?  Yes, it was probably that—she’d never had an issue with him walking around in nothing but a pair of pants before.
Loki suddenly looked down at his watch.  “Hmm, a quarter to seven,” he murmured.  “We’d better hurry if we want to get there in time to get your seats.”  With that, the god made to continue his previous trek down the sidewalk toward the vehicle and the rest of Brynn’s friends.  (He noticed with some pleasure that they all looked rather dumbstruck and horrified, peeking out at him from behind their hands… except for Maddie.  She wasn’t averting her eyes at all.  And she looked just a little bit too pleased and dreamy-eyed as she checked him out.  Maybe Loki hadn’t completely thought this plan through….)
Brynn suddenly braced her hands against his chest and her feet against the sidewalk, pushing back on him with all her might to make him stop.  “Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!” she exclaimed.  “Back up!  Joke’s over!”  She met his brilliant green eyes with her stricken blue-gray ones and shook her head desperately.  “You are not going to town dressed like this!”
Loki looked himself over yet again.  “What’s wrong with this?”
“‘What’s wrong with this?’!” Brynn repeated incredulously.  “Loki, if these clothes fit me in the same way they fit you, you wouldn’t let me out of the house in ‘em—that’s what’s wrong!  Loki, your ass is hanging out!  Nobody wants to see that!”
“I wanna see that!” Maddie shouted from her spot by the truck.
“SHADDUPMADDIE—NOBODYASKEDYOU!!!”  Brynn hollered back, not looking away from Loki.  Clasping the front of his shirt—well, her shirt—the girl gazed up into the trickster’s face beseechingly.  “Loki, please, I’m your little sister and I love you with all my heart,” she pleaded frantically.  “And if you feel the same way about me—if you’ve ever loved me at all, Loki—please put something else on!  Please!  I’m begging you!”
With that, Loki’s face sobered and the whole air about him grew serious.  ‘… if you’ve ever loved me at all…’ how could Brynn even question such a thing or vaguely imply that maybe he didn’t?  In fact, the very reason he was willfully wearing her clothes and making a complete imbecile of himself was proof enough that he did, in actuality, love the girl.  It also spoke to the fact of just how much he loved her.  He certainly wouldn’t have done this for Thor.  (Then again, he didn’t have to; he’d already proven his love for his brother by protecting Jane and dying on Svartalfheim—his obligation there was done as far as Loki was concerned.)  “Of course, I love you, Brynn,” he murmured.  “I love you very, very much—you know that.”
There was actually a slight gleam of tears in Brynn’s blue-gray eyes.  “Then why?” she rasped, desperate to understand.
The man sighed heavily.  “I believe you’ve already come to the conclusion, as you’ve mentioned it once.”
Brynn thought for a minute, trying to remember what she’d said.  “So this is a lesson then,” she responded after a moment.  She watched as her guardian nodded in confirmation.  “A lesson for what?”  she inquired.  She still didn’t understand why Loki had done this, why he’d allowed himself to look so hideously ridiculous and foolish, especially in front of company.  What could he possibly be trying to teach her?  What could be so drastic?
And then it hit her.
“Are you serious?” the teen deadpanned, some of that annoyance rising back up inside her again and burning away the franticness.  “Are.  You.  Fucking. Serious?”  She was more emphatic that time around, pounding a fist hard against his chest.
Loki’s face darkened.  “Brynna May Hagel,” he rumbled dangerously.  “Utter such vile language again, young lady, and you will find yourself spitting soap suds for the rest of the evening.  And if you hit me again you will regret it, I assure you.”
Brynn ignored him and continued on.  “That’s what this was about: me not putting away my laundry?  You almost made me break down crying in desperate humiliation for that?!”
“Actually, I never intended to make you cry,” he confessed, looking a bit guilty, “and if that is the case, I apologize.  Perhaps I pushed a bit too far.”
“Ya think?” Brynn snapped, shoving away from him and forcefully perching her fists on her hips.  She glared hotly at him.
“But the lesson wasn’t so much about you not putting away your laundry,” the god informed her, choosing for the moment to let her tone go rather than reprimand her for it.  That would only lead to an argument they didn’t have time for.  “It was more about you not putting it away after you had given me your word that you would.”  A scolding expression came onto Loki’s face as he said that.
The teen squirmed slightly under that gaze, some guilt springing up through that annoyance.  Okay, he had a point—Brynn had to admit that.  She remembered now and she had promised that she would put her clothes away, but then other stuff had happened and it had slipped her mind a few times, and… well it was laundry!  Whether it was a full basket of clothing or a pair of socks, who wanted to put away laundry?  Still, she had said that she would.  But that didn’t mean he had to go around wearing her things in front of her friends, completely intent on actually wearing them out in public just to teach her a lesson about responsibility and keeping her word!  “Ya couldn’t’ve just talked to me about it?” she growled, her face turning red again.
Loki pursed his lips in contemplation a bit, his eyes rolling skyward as if the heavens would somehow help him consider her question more thoroughly.  “I could have,” he admitted after a minute or two.  Then he looked back at the girl, smirking devilishly.  “But where would have been the fun in that?  This way I got to watch you go into a classic tizzy.”
Brynn grabbed at her head, fisting her hands in her hair as if to rip it all out.  Screwing her eyes shut she threw her head back and released a frustrated roar through clenched teeth.  She stomped her foot.  “God!  You are such an ass!” she fumed.  Honestly!  How the hell could someone be this exasperating?!  One thing was for sure: it definitely spoke to Loki’s superhuman-ness, because no human could be this irritating—it wasn’t possible.  If he wasn’t careful, the man really was going to make her pull all her hair out!
“True,” Loki conceded good-naturedly, arching an eyebrow.  “But are you going to shirk off a responsibility again?  Are you going to treat your word as if it means nothing again?”
Releasing her curly, blonde tresses, the girl let her hands fall limply to her sides and hung her head so that her hair hid her flushed cheeks.  “No…” she muttered just loudly enough for the god to hear.
“Then my plan succeeded and my being an ass was well warranted.”
“Yeah, keep tellin’ yourself that, Viking Boy.”
“Oh, I intend to.”
Brynn couldn’t help the slight smirk that curled her mouth.  She shook her head.  This man—this god… how she’d managed to deserve his presence in her life she still wasn’t completely sure—nor was she sure she really wanted it sometimes—but here he was, and she couldn’t imagine it any other way anymore.  Whether he was being stern and protective or sweet and loving or just being a total douchebag like tonight, he was there with her.  For her.  And, whether she liked or wanted it or not, Brynn wouldn’t have it any other way.  She really wouldn’t.
“Seriously though, Loks,” she said after a moment, becoming all serious business as she looked him over yet again, “can you please change into something that won’t give people heart attacks?”
Rather surprisingly, a look of utter relief came over the Asgardian’s face at this request.  “Gladly,” he sighed.  With a gleaming blur of a flash, Loki’s clothes had instantaneously changed from his hideous, stolen get-up into one that was much more pleasing and fitting for him: black slacks, a green v-neck, and a dark gray blazer.  The god shifted around, swinging his arms a bit and rolling his shoulders and neck, a look of pleasure on his face.  A soft utter of, “Thank Odin,” fell from his lips.
Striding out yet again, Loki wrapped an arm around his charge’s shoulders, turning her around and leading her back down the sidewalk toward the others.  “Your clothes are horrendously uncomfortable,” he told her.
Smirking, Brynn looped an arm around the man’s waist, matching her strides to his as best she could.  (It wasn’t as easy as it sounds, as he had very long legs.)  “Well, for one, they’re my size and are meant to fit me,” she retorted.  “They definitely weren’t designed and made with Asgardian chaos gods in mind.”
Loki chuckled as he smoothed a hand over her hair.  “No, I suppose not,” he agreed.
Brynn gazed up at him.  “I’ll put ‘em away when we get home after the movie,” she said, face sincere.  “I promise.”
Her guardian nodded.  “Of course, you will,” he replied.  “They’re back in the basket waiting for you.  And on the off chance you won’t put them away—and I’m sure that you will—I’ve charmed them to scream bloody murder at you every time you walk by the basket until you’ve dealt with them.”
Brynn raised an eyebrow.  “Doesn’t that seem a tad bit overdramatic?”
That brought on a mocking sneer from the god.  “It would seem they take after their mistress.”
The girl gasped incredulously.  Had he seriously just called her overdramatic?!  “Uh!  Pft!  Tsh!  Huh!  Ha!  Excuse you?!” she yelped, offended by the insinuation.  “I am not overdramatic!”
“Says the girl who nearly broke down into tears over a prank not two minutes ago.”
“Did you see what you looked like in that outfit?  Hulk would have cried!”
“Perhaps, but it still wouldn’t have been as hard as you would have.”  He leered down at her and snickered mischievously, “Crybaby.”
“Jerkface.”
“Drama queen.”
“Bite me.”
“Where would you like me to?”
Brynn’s gaze darkened and narrowed into a glower.  “I hate you,” she rumbled.
Loki gazed fondly back at her.  “I hate you too,” he returned lovingly.
The girl reached up and playfully smacked his cheek.  “I hate you more.”  A slight smile was starting to fade onto her face.
The god slipped a hand down and swatted her hip.  “But I hate you most.”
“That’s what you think, big brother.”
“That’s what I know, little sister.”
Bonus Ending: Did they make it to the movie in time?
With a squeal of tires on pavement, the champagne gold Dodge Ram drifted gracefully into a parallel parking space outside of The Sun Theater in Dalton.  Moviegoers who were still filing into the building all stopped and stared as the doors of the truck opened and five teenagers and a tall, dark-haired, green-eyed man exited the vehicle.
Four of the teens—the two boys and two of the girls—were white as sheets and trembling so badly they could hardly walk: One of the boys even threw himself down on the ground and began to hug and kiss it.  The man, however, was smiling in a rather self-pleased way.  The fifth teen—a blonde girl who looked much more composed than the others though she still looked abnormally pale and appeared to be shaking as well—merely turned to her friends and said a bit numbly, “See?  Tol’ja he’d get us here in time.”
Just then the wail of sirens was heard, and a second later, several police vehicles squealed around the corner and peeled down the street towards the cinema, lights flashing.
Looking slightly alarmed by this, the black-haired man quickly turned his eyes to the truck they’d all just come out of.  The truck suddenly changed colors from gold to gray.  The license plates seemed to have changed as well.  Then, the man grabbed the blonde girl by the hand and began quickly tugging her along toward the theater doors.  “Come on, kids,” he called back over his shoulder as the police drew closer, but didn’t seem to have any inclination of slowing down.  “Come on now.”
The police cruisers blew right past the theater.  They didn’t even look back.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was easy to dismiss quiet mornings on Asgard in favor of boundless nights under the stars. But you never felt more content than when the first rays of daylight bathed the kingdom in a hazy glow. Beyond frost-kissed windows, the wind whispered a tale of winter’s early arrival, and you burrowed further under the protective arm curled around your shoulders.
Waking before Loki was a rare occurrence, and you offered up a prayer of gratitude to the Norns when you realized your lover was still slumbering beside you.
He was a being of little sleep, often arguing those bestowed with divinity had more stamina than the average Æsir, therefore requiring less rest. You disagreed.
Well, somewhat disagreed.
You pulled your lip between your teeth as you observed evidence of the prior evening’s chaotic activities: clothing and armor were strewn about the room, pillows and pelts haphazardly adorned the hearthside, and papers from Loki’s desk littered the floor, his bookshelves standing slightly askew. Even the bedposts seemed to be off-kilter.
Loki absolutely had the stamina of a god.
Still, he hadn’t been getting enough sleep lately. The past few weeks preparing for Vetrnætr had taken a toll on him. Loki had been responsible for coordinating the arrival of visiting dignitaries and nobility while also leading what he’d described to you as “lighthearted diplomatic discussions” with the royal council of Vanaheim. Queen Frigga, however, had confided that he was single-handedly responsible for not only fortifying Asgard’s long-held alliance between the Vanir and Æsir but also negotiating a new trade agreement between the neighboring realms.
You carefully tilted your face upward, committing the splendor of him in this moment to memory. Swathes of amber light illuminated the rise and fall of his chest, mapping the gentle exhales through parted lips that assured you he was alive. That he was real. That he was yours.
Your family and fellow courtiers had thought you mad when you turned down the advances of several of the Allfather’s golden warriors. But it was when you refused Thor that you’d stirred up any true semblance of trouble. Then again, the elder Odinson had attempted to court at least half the eligible maidens of Asgard, so it wasn’t that scandalous.
What everyone didn’t know then was that your heart secretly belonged to another. And even now, years later, it was hard to comprehend that he returned your affections. But he did, and he made sure you’d never have reason to doubt him.
For so long, he had existed in the shadows of those around him. Only a sacred few saw his light shining through. And once he’d revealed the whole of himself to you, how could anyone else possibly compare?
True, he could be unpredictable and disruptive, but Loki approached everything in life with an unwavering sense of humble dedication. His fidelity was one of the things you loved most about him.
“My beautiful miracle.”
You’d only meant to think it—but hearing the whisper of affection fall from your lips seemed the perfect way to commence the day. Tracing patterns across the exposed skin of Loki’s abdomen, you studied the contours of his handsome face. Long lashes fluttered against high cheekbones as his eyes darted back and forth behind closed lids.
“What is it you dream of?” you whispered, gently placing a kiss on his sternum.
“A prince dreams of many things.”
His reply caused your heart to stutter within your chest. The trickster had been awake all along, basking in the warmth of your sentimentality like a cat soaking up the sun.
“I should’ve known you were only pretending to be asleep,” you pouted as he finally cracked open his eyes to peer down at you.
“Mmm, you should have,” he said as he wrapped his hand around yours, bringing it to his lips and tenderly pressing his lips to your fingertips. “But, I did have the most interesting dream. It’s worth hearing, I assure you.”
Loki was nothing if not convincing, and you were curious.
“Go on then. I’m listening,” you replied with a playful roll of your eyes.
Loki cleared his throat as he fluffed the pillow under his head. Stars above. He was as dramatic as he was mischievous.
“It was the final night of Vetrnætr and the kingdom was blanketed in snow. I was  tasked with riding into the forests alone,” he said, absentmindedly trailing his fingertips  down your arm as he spoke, “to defeat a great beast with my magick.”
His voice was impossibly alluring, much like Loki himself. Soon, you were clinging to every word—mesmerized by the magnificent man beside you.
“I found myself in the depths of wilderness—where no other soul had dared to tread before. I, of course, was quite brave in the face of this unknown danger.”
“Fearless, some might say,” you offered.
He hummed in agreement, his eyes sparking with amusement. “Finally, I reached my destination. But a horde of Bilgesnipes was blocking the creature I’d come to slay.”
“Oh?” you said apprehensively. He solemnly nodded.
“So, I conjured a simple spell to vanquish them. Imagine my surprise when I realized they were not, in fact, angry Bilgesnipes but your dreadful snores plundering into my subconscious mind.”
Your brain stuttered—did he just? Bilgesnipes?! Loki smirked at the utterly bewildered expression on your face before mimicking the way you opened your mouth in shock. You’d walked right into his little trap and he was enjoying it far too much.
“Loki Odinson! I do not snore.”
You sounded less defiant than you hoped, and—in a bid to get him to renege the obvious lie—you wriggled out from under his arm and tossed a pillow at his stupid, handsome face.
“I beg to differ.” Deep, mirthful laughter rumbled in Loki’s chest. “Now, wait a minute—”
Much to his dismay, you’d moved to the edge of the bed. As you gathered one of the fur blankets around your nude form, Loki propped himself up on his elbows, those stark green eyes focusing on you with an intensity that didn’t seem justified this early in the day.
“Darling, don’t go. I was only teasing.” He grabbed your wrist, and the coolness of his fingers against your flesh sent a thrill rippling through you. “Allow me to make it up to you.”
The offer was tempting but, with Vetrnætr on the literal horizon, you had a never-ending list of obligations to attend to.
“You know we’re both expected at the first morning feast.”
“Yes, and that is still hours from now. Come back to bed.”
“It will take me hours to get ready for the celebrations.”
Loki clicked his tongue as you shimmied off the bed. “What a shame you don’t have a skillful sorcerer at your disposal.”
“Such misfortune,” you quipped, fingers reaching to secure the fur around your shoulders. A curse left your lips as nothing but cold air enveloped you instead. Loki shot you a wink as a wisp of seiðr danced across his palm.
“You’re not playing fair.”
“Where there are wolf’s ears, wolf’s teeth are near.” Dimples adorned the corners of his mouth as he grinned up at you.
“And now you’re not making any sense!”
“So come back to bed, little fox. Please. Help me make sense of things.”
Three thoughts inhabited your mind in this moment: a persistent chill was quickly settling in your bones and Loki’s bed was impossibly warm; applying the ceremonial makeup you were expected to wear today would take at least an hour—and having Loki glamour it on would be terribly convenient; and, finally, you were absolute shit at denying him anything. And Loki knew it.
He stretched his long legs as he awaited your submission. The action caused the silk sheets to settle low around his waist. Shadows traversed the deep V of his Adonis belt like divine brushstrokes while sunbeams highlighted the devastating muscles of his godly physique.
You never stood a chance.
Your pulse quickened as you propped a knee on the mattress, giving him a coy smile. “Satisfied, your highness?”
Loki inhaled as he surveyed your figure. It was easy to assume he was memorizing the smooth curves and soft dips of your body. Every imperfection, dimple, scar—he’d studied and worshiped each precious part of you. But in truth, he knew the map of your body better than he knew the wilds of Asgard—how to expertly navigate your release, to intimately claim you as his time and time again.
“Not quite.” His eyes glinted with desire as he curled his hands around your waist, guiding you to settle against the pillows. You watched in awe as he pulled the sheets over the both of you, adjusting the layers of covers and pelts as he caged you in his arms.
“Perfect.” It was no more than a whisper. But the sense of pride that thrummed through you must have been palpable, because Loki leaned down and brushed his mouth against yours. You barely had time to inhale before his tongue was swiping over your bottom lip and then moving against your own in eager, equal measure. He was heavy on top of you as he settled between your open legs—your collective arousal evident as your bodies seamlessly slotted together. It was exhilarating and grounding and you ached for him. When you dug your fingertips into the firm swell of his ass in a silent plea for more, he broke the kiss.
“What is it, my love?” you asked, noticing a glimmer of tears swelling in his eyes as he pulled away from you. You cupped his cheek, and his gaze flitted across your face.
“What did I do to deserve you?” Loki took in a deep, shuddering breath before kissing you once more. Sparks of white-hot heat ignited your skin as your heart hammered in your chest. Could he sense how wildly it was beating for him? “I’m so proud of you. You know that, right?”
How could words ever truly express that the love you possessed defied explanation, transcended comprehension, and overwhelmed every fiber of your being? How could you adequately convey that his praise was your Valhalla?
You finally managed to say, “I know,” but your response melded into a moan as Loki’s lips made contact with your nipple, rolling its twin between his thumb and forefinger.
“You’re so good to me.”
“So good,” you echoed, arching into his touch as Loki’s hand skimmed your curves before dipping between your legs.
He found you slick and ready for him, and he easily slid two fingers into your cunt, his palm pushing upwards against your swollen clit. Delicious pressure built in your hips with each skillful turn of his wrist and you greedily bucked into his hand, grasping at his biceps for leverage.
You were quickly losing yourself to the adrenaline searing through you, igniting every nerve ending like a thousand meteors shooting across the night sky. Still, you knew Loki revelled in the euphoria of your unraveling just as much as you did. He yearned to hear your small whimpers of pleasure, to feel your hands on his body and your fingers twisting in his hair as you came undone at his touch. To be connected without reservation.
He’d once confided in you that the reassurance of your touch sparked something within him comparable only to his seiðr—you had become just as much a part of him as the ancestral magick that flowed through his very veins. Imagining a reality without either was like envisioning a world without sunlight or stars.
“Loki. Loki.” His name was witchcraft on your lips and his fingers deftly twisted inside you in response. When he slowed his movements, you clenched around him, desperately running your hands over the broad expanse of his shoulders. His skin was damp with sweat, his muscles quivering under your fingertips.
“And so eager. Gods, you’re gorgeous when you’re about to come apart.”
When Loki was nestled between your thighs, worshiping your body as if you were the only thing in all the Nine, time stood still. You were teetering on the edge of sweet release—right where he wanted you. A frustrated noise caught in the back of your throat as he removed his fingers, your thighs trembling as your climax began to ebb.
“Patience.” He spoke purposefully against your heated skin, as if reciting an invocation.
“Til árs ok friðar.” Loki paused, looking up at you with eyes so full of adoration you felt as though your heart would burst. He repeated the ancient phrase. “For a good year. And peace. That is my wish for you—for us—my love.”
You were completely lost under his spell. Your only tether to reality was Loki. His forearm heavy across your midriff. His tongue flat against your clit.
“F-faen, I’m– please,” you slurred, your chest heaving with ragged, uneven pants.
“That’s it,” Loki coaxed. “Come undone for me.”
At his words, the overwhelming tightness in your core snapped. Your orgasm ripped through your body—your mind clearing itself of every lingering thought. The wild beat of your heart became the soundtrack of your bliss and you sobbed as the tip of his regal nose rubbed against your sensitive clit. His tongue continued to lap at the warm center of your cunt as aftershocks rolled through you, your body involuntary jerking at the overstimulation.
“Too much…”
“One more, darling. If not for me, for Asgard.” A wicked grin spread across his face—his lips and chin glistening with your arousal—before he dipped his head back between your thighs. “Consider it a royal decree.”
It was pointless to argue with him, especially when he set his mind to something. You wound your fingers into his unkempt hair, and before long, you were curling up off the bed as you juddered under his touch for the second time.
“Thank you,” you said softly as you came down from your high. Loki pressed his forehead to yours.
“A final gesture of goodwill,” he murmured, the blunt tip of his cock nudging your entrance.
“We’ll be late to breakfast. I- I dare not disgrace your good name, my prince,” you said, gasping into his mouth as he pushed deeper inside you. You didn’t care if you missed every single celebratory banquet this week.
“I’m honored you think so highly of me, little wife.” You groaned in unison as he bottomed out with a swirl of his hips. “But it would not be the first time we’ve vexed the House of Odin thus. Nor the last, I hope.”
