We're All Mad Here - Jerome Valeska x Harley Quinn

Summary: A new patient had entered Arkham Asylum, she could already tell he would make things fun.

Pairing: Jerome Valeska x Harley Quinn

Chapter Three

Boring. So Boring.

Jerome lay atop of his bed, staring absently at the ceiling above.

He was getting bored of playing the jokester. Pottering about in the dayroom, acting like a funny little boy around the other patients. He was getting tired of sucking up to that Barbara Kean. God, she was pretty but not much of a conversationalist. Liked too much attention for his liking. But she would work, he could use her to get to his goal.

Everyone knew she’d had a thing with the great Jim Gordon. God just thinking that name was ticking him off. That was his end game, to kill Jim Gordon, to kill Bruce Wayne. All he needed was to get out of this hellhole.

The bell sounded, time for dayroom. The guards lined up outside, taking the patients, one by one into the room as they filtered out. The rest of the rabble here were all so unintelligent, no one he could share plans with, no one of any use to him. There they all were once again, sat on the same table, Barbara in the centre. How terribly boring.

He scanned the room, a peculiar blonde sitting in the corner of the room, looking out of the same window as she did. He suspected she was as mad as the rest of them here, could barely form a sentence he supposed. He knew she watched him, fancied him perhaps. It wasn’t until he noticed her smile at his jokes, perhaps there was something more to that one. That Harleen Quinzel.

She was cute, cuter than Barbara Kean. He hadn’t heard of her before, no links to any of his enemies from what he knew, but perhaps he could use her.

She noticed him watching her, still standing in the doorway of the dayroom, a hand sleeking through his red hair. She tried to avoid eye contact, after locking eyes with him the day before, she was embarrassed. He was probably judging her, looking at her insecurities, could possibly even be looking through her once again.

‘Why hey there gorgeous.’ He towered over her seated form, her long platinum hair matted in places moved with her head as she shot to attention.

‘Hi’ she barely even squeaked it out, in shock that he had even approached her.

‘What’s so interesting out of that little window, that it takes your eyes off me?’ he sat beside her now, that manic grin on his face. He had noticed her watching him.

She blushed, breaking eye contact with him once again. ‘I like watching the normals. Makes me feel less caged.’ He narrowed his eyes at her in response.

‘The normals?’ he leant over, looking out of the window, his face so close to hers as he did so. ‘Well Harleen, looks like you can see the whole city from here!’ he laughed manically, gaining a smile from her.

‘You know my name?’ she barely whispered. ‘Well of course, I like to know the names of all the pretty girls here.’ Another manic laugh.

She was elated but still cautious, another feeling building in her chest.

‘Jerome!’ Barbara’s high-pitched voice carried across the day room. ‘If you spend too much time there, you’ll catch fleas!’ she laughed, the rabble of men surrounding her following suit.

Harleen flashed her a dark look, a dangerous look, the things she would do to Barbara if she could. She composed herself quickly, looking back at Jerome, who only smiled dangerously back at her. He had noticed her response. Fear building in her chest.

‘Interesting, interesting. See you soon Harleen.’ He elongated her name as he spoke before heading back to Barbara and the others, giving her a backwards wave.

Harleen sat, confused. What had just happened?

GOTHAM ORIGINAL CHARACTER: HARLEEN QUINZEL

Not exactly an OC, buuuut not on the show either sooooo yeah!

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Harleen Quinzel is an aspiring psychiatrist for Arkham Asylum. Her high IQ and determination to get more hands on with her learning led to Arkham Asylum accepting her for an internship in her final year of High School, which she took part in on the weekends. It was there that her eye was captured by a young inmate, one that she recognised as Jerome Valeska—the circus boy that killed his own mother. She’d crossed paths with him before at the circus, as well as hearing about his case on the news.

In her burning curiosity, she urged for Arkham to allow her to talk to the red head. They allowed it, believing that Jerome having someone his own age to talk would encourage him to open up. They developed an intimate relationship, Harleen often sneaking thing in here and there for him. For Harleen, being around Jerome was exciting. He allowed her to tap into her darkness without actually abusing it, he made her feel alive.

She surrounded herself with the likes of Selena Kyle most of the time, Ivy Pepper occasionally accompanying her too. Especially after the death of Jerome, they became her confidants, the only people who didn’t expect anything of her. And when Ivy had suddenly gone missing, her mental health deteriorated a little more. Harleen decided that the best thing for her would be to focus on securing a career with Arkham, and nothing else.

Yandere Clown Family Headcanons (platonic)

Papa Joker

Joker never really cared to have a family of his own, that was all Harley, but he couldn’t help but to come around to the idea once they actually had their little family. It started off with the twins who they only happened upon by chance. Jerome and Jeremiah were perfect for Joker and Harley’s new family.

The boys took to Joker in their own ways; Jerome being the one to act more outright like Joker, while Jeremiah chose to listen and observe. Eventually they would give their “father” a run for his money and title as The Clown Prince of Crime. And Joker couldn’t be prouder of his boys.

It’s Harley who brings you to Joker’s attention. He’s not surprised that she found someone else to welcome into the family. He’s not even all that against it. His family has plenty of room and having another child who takes after him or Harley would only add to the fun. Especially if it gets Harley to stop her crying.

Joker doesn’t know what to think of you at first. You aren’t exactly like Jerome or Jeremiah. He doesn’t even know if there is a shred of bad in your bones but Harley’s happy and gushing all over her new “Sugar”, so it doesn’t matter what he has to say right now. Maybe with some good ol’ quality time with Papa and your brothers will have you learning a thing or two. And maybe with an added plunge into the chemical vats you’ll feel a little more comfortable in your own skin.

Joker would go as far as to have you prove yourself and whether you deserve a place in the family. Harley is extremely against it, babbling on and on about you being their baby and a part of the family no matter what. But Joker doesn’t care, he wants to know full well that you’re not a waste of space. And he wants you to show him by doing something you won’t be able to come back from. But it’ll be alright, you’ll have a family to back you up once everything is said and done.

After all that is taken care of, Joker is more than happy to start the fun. It’ll be a hoot, really!! And first things first; Baby’s gotta get introduced to the Bat.

Mama Harley Quinn

Joker was just peachy with his new kids but Harley wasn’t content. She felt left out and to think she was the one who wanted a family in the first place. Leaving Joker and the boys to themselves, she takes off in search for her own little precious. Walking aimlessly around the streets of Gotham City and it doesn’t take long for someone to catch her eye.

That someone being you. It was adoption at first sight for Harley but she wanted to have everything ready before she took you home. Besides, she just had to go tell the boys about their soon to be new sibling. She’ll snap a picture of just you and another one of you with your ‘fake’ family. After all, she needs to know who to come looking for later.

Harley is completely ecstatic when she comes back home and shows the pictures she took of you to Joker and the boys. She doesn’t even really care about what any of them have to say, she’s getting her Sugar one way or another. She’s writing up a list of all the things they need to get before she goes out and brings you home. Harley can’t have you living in a sad, dumpy room now, can she? No, you deserve the best of the best and that’s just what she’s going to make Joker and the boys take care of.

Oh, when she finally has you in her arms she’s over the moon. Her sweet, precious Sugar is just as she imagined and more. It will be her ultimate goal for you to turn out just like her. She doesn’t want another Joker running around. No, she wants a little Harley nipping at her heels. It’ll be perfect. You’ll be perfect.

Mama Harley wants you all to herself so the others don’t rub off on you. She wants you to be her baby, entirely. She may even go as far as keeping Joker away from you too. She can’t trust him not to try and corrupt you with his ways. She wants to be the one you learn from and take after. But that’s too much to ask for with Jerome and Jeremiah around.

Harley is extremely possessive of you, the same can be said for your new brothers. But even Harley doesn’t want to give you up to them. Sure, she wants you all to get along and be a family. It was her idea, her dream after all. But now that she’s got you she doesn’t want to let you go. Especially not to anyone else, not even the rest of your new family. Her baby is her baby and no one’s coming between you and her. She won’t let them. If she has to then she’ll take you and run. It’s not really like Jerome and Jeremiah need her anyway, right?

Brother Jerome Valeska

Jerome loves the idea of a new sibling, especially one who is quite impressionable. Jeremiah is no fun but you, you’re going to be just what Jerome wants; a partner in crime. He’s going to be a good brother, taking you out with him for some fun, causing havoc and chaos. Terrorizing whoever crosses your guys’ path.

He is extremely delusional. He doesn’t need any coaxing to welcome a new family member. One look at you and he knows you’re just right for the family, you just don’t know it yet. But he’ll bring out the madness in you in no time.

He’ll take you under his wing and teach you all about the fun of madness. He wants to be the one to teach you everything there is to being part of the Clown Family. Jerome especially wants you to look up to and aspire to be just like him. He wants to be idolized and he wants you to idolize him. He’s dragging you around with him wherever he goes, just waiting for the perfect opportunity to make a show of someone or something. Hell, who needs to wait when he can make his own opportunities out of anyone or anything.

Jerome and Jeremiah aren’t exactly the closest or even have a good or tolerable relationship with each other. And having you in the mix only causes them to butt heads all the more. Jerome doesn’t like it when Jeremiah tries to take you away from him. Your time and attention is his, all his. Not Jeremiah’s. And he makes that very known. He’ll go to war with his brother if he has to. Jerome isn’t going to let Jeremiah ruin this for him.

There are times when Jerome will bombard you, swooping you away to god knows where and he doesn’t bring you “home” for some time. He refers to this as his and your sibling bonding time. And he doesn’t tolerate anyone trying to step on his “bonding” time with his new sibling. Especially his brother. He’s a little more willing to give you over to Harley as long as she doesn’t try to hog you again but that’s only a handful of times.

Overall he’s a very dedicated brother, in his own obsessive and psychotic way. He wants and knows what’s best for you, even if it isn’t. Especially if he benefits from it.

Brother Jeremiah Valeska

Jeremiah is much more calculating and manipulative then his brother. He will play the role of the ever understanding and supportive brother. Or if you’re older than him and Jerome then he’ll continue to play the scared, innocent victim but really he’s just gaining your trust. You’re more likely to feel bad and give him more of your time and attention. You’ll pull further away from Jerome and stay with him.

He wants to be the one you confide in. The one you tell all your fears, worries, and secrets to. He wants to know everything that goes on in that little head of yours. He knows you won’t go to Jerome, not after everything he’s told you about his twin. His brother is psychotic after all. Who could ever trust a psychopath? But you can count on Jeremiah. He’ll always be there to listen.

Jeremiah keeps an excruciatingly close eye on you once Harley finally brings you home. He keeps track of your every movement, from all steps you take in a day to the twitch of your finger. He probably keeps a log of it somewhere in a journal or notepad he keeps on him at all times. You’re like some kind of case study for him to observe and critique.

He really wants to see what makes you tic. He’s pushing all your buttons and memorizing all your reactions. He’s persistent and very determined to get what he wants out of you. Not like you know what that is.

Jeremiah isn’t happy when you spend more time with Jerome. He hates it. All this work he’s putting into you and your wasting your time with his brother. Jerome is just messing with Jeremiah’s progress of making you perfect. And it irks him to no end but he’s not going to let Jerome know that. No, Jeremiah isn’t his brother, he’s much more methodical and patient.

He wouldn’t be all that against doing what he believes is necessary to keep up with your progress. And if that includes getting rid of his brother then so be it. It’s not like he was doing much for Jeremiah anyway. This will only go to show that if you hold a purpose for Jeremiah then he’ll do anything to keep you. But if you don’t then you’re on your own, that is if he doesn’t do something about it first.

Hi girl hope youre doing well but you know an idea came to me when i recently decided to re-read 'the wayne family adventures' and i was thinking that well joker is batmans greatest enemy even if he doesnt think so and i thoght that joker could have a little 'family' as well which you know consists of harley quinn bringing home two certain twins after finding them alone (like maybe lila kicked them out for the night) roaming around on her favorite circus

id really apreciate if you could write how that would play out and how the 'family' would react to jeremiah having a harley quinn type girlfriend

Just like Gotham's most famous family, the Wayne's, the clowns.. Joker and Harley Quinn also had their own, formed after Harley kidnapped two ginger-haired twins one night when she went to see a show at her favourite circus, the 'Haly's Circus'.

She found them near the woods in the cold and decided to take them with her, raising them as her own until they came of age and left the house, continuing to create chaos in Gotham City while always showing up at the family reunions that Harley and Jeremiah were so fond of.

There was something different at that dinner though, because for the first time there were not just six of them, counting Harley's two hyenas too, but seven because Jeremiah was bringing someone with him to introduce to the parents who had raised him.

They were all waiting at the table when Jeremiah walked in holding an arm around the hips of a cheerful and joyful girl, her y/h/c hair was pulled back into two braids and her eyes were y/e/c, she was wearing jeans of two colours: green and purple and a large shirt with a Batman symbol with a red 'X' on it, her makeup wasn't that heavy but she had smudged black eye shadow and her lip gloss was cherry colour; she let Jeremiah move her chair and hung up her coat after surviving the initial reaction of everyone in the family.

Harley

Harley was the first to react, she was already so pumped when she heard that there was going to be an addition and she couldn't wait to find out who it was, that's why when she heard the door open and heard footsteps approaching she immediately stood up smiling crazily, jumping up and down and then hugging Jeremiah as a greeting asking him a thousand questions without even listening to all the answers because she was already focused on someone else..which was Y/n, she almost jumped into her arms as she hugged her, happy to be reciprocated and talking to her at the same time as her saying more or less the same things before being interrupted by the Joker

Joker

He was quite doubtful and uninterested when he heard that Jeremiah was bringing someone with him to their family dinner.

But when he saw Y/n he was vaguely surprised noticing almost immediately the resemblance between her and his Harley, not finding it a bad thing though; he stood up after Harley continued to insist that he get up, managing that way to get the woman to stop talking and allowing him to study Y/n better by asking her quick questions receiving quick answers that made a satisfied smile appear on his face "you...I like you, pumpkin...and I like your shirt" Harley smiled happily leaning against Joker as she continued to look at Jeremiah and Y/n.

Jerome

He was quite surprised when he found out about his twin's new girlfriend but he was even more pleasantly surprised at the sight of Y/n as soon as he saw her, he slowly got up from the table taking her hand and kissing it as he looked into her eyes and smiled mischievously "doll..." he didn't have time to say anything else because Jeremiah moved her against him narrowing his eyes at his twin "do I need to remind you that she's with me, Jerome?"

Bud and Lou

The two hyenas had remained on their own until Jeremiah and Y/n arrived, in that moment they stood up and walked over to the new stranger ignoring Jeremiah's presence and focused gaze on them, even Harley and Joker stood still watching, smiling in surprise as soon as they saw the two hyenas jump on Y/n while laughing crazily as they licked her face to say welcome as she cuddled them like they were puppies or kittens smiling brightly and giggling softly "Well…hello to you two too!".

We're All Mad Here - Harley x Jerome - Gotham

Summary: A new patient had entered Arkham Asylum, she could already tell he would make things fun.

Pairing: Harley Quinn x Jerome

Chapter Two

It had been a week since he had entered Arkham Asylum. He definitely was a character, handsome too. His name; Jerome Valeska. She had been watching him since he had entered the dayroom, it was much more entertaining than daytime TV. It had become a pastime for her, watching him as he did his rounds, moving from table to table, striking up conversations with people she knew wouldn’t respond. When he first came, he tried getting in with the it crowds as she called it, Barbara Kean, and her posse of criminals. She had made it vey clear to Barbara that she was not interested in joining them. Jerome had tried his best however, sometimes they would let him sit with them, other times they wouldn’t. She could see the look in his eyes when they rejected him, dangerous.

She enjoyed watching him, he amused her, she couldn’t deny he was handsome, and her feelings had grown quickly for the red-haired man. Her diagnosis, borderline personality disorder. Apparently, it led to obsessive relationships and behaviours. She liked to believe they were wrong, but the growing feelings she had for him, even though they had yet to speak spoke truth to her.

She hoped today would be the day, the day he actually approached her, spoke to her. He nearly had a couple of days ago, but Barbara had distracted his attention. Another reason why she disliked the woman, always had to be the centre of attention, always had to be the girl all guys liked. Alas, it was not meant to be, apparently today he was to sit with the it crowds again, she noticed the smug look Barbara threw her way when he took his seat next to her.

She felt her stomach drop, fighting back her disappointment once again. Barbara was very observant, she had observed her watching him, calling her out on it once they got back to their cells. They were neighbours frustratingly. She continued to watch the back of his head, blocking out Barbara’s obnoxious laughter and filling her ears with only Jerome’s, his manic laughter always brought a smile to her face. It was the only time she allowed herself to smile, this time however, she locked eyes with him as she did so.

Her internal panic bubbled to the surface as their eye contact was broken. To her it felt like an eternity, but she focused back on the people below her window, trying to distract herself, pushing back the thoughts of whether or not he was still looking. What if he didn’t like her smile? What if he found her creepy, what if he was merely looking through her instead of at her? Through the window?

She could feel her cheeks flush, her heart hammering in her chest as she turned her head slowly back to face him. He wasn’t looking at her anymore, carrying on with his conversation, as if their look was nothing, perhaps it was, the disappointment grew once more.
