At the beginning of my four-year intermittent fasting (IF) journey, I was experiencing so many health benefits such as decreased bloating, improved mental clarity and sleep, and I was able to lose the baby weight I'd been holding on to for four years. It was going so well in the beginning that I thought I'd do IF for the rest of my life. But as I slowly started to try more restrictive methods of IF to reach my weight-loss goals, it started to not work, and I was actually gaining weight.
I was feeling so frustrated, sad, and hopeless because I was losing control over my relationship with food. Here's my story of how intermittent fasting started to fail me, and how giving it up for intuitive eating actually helped me have more peace with food and achieve my body and fitness goals.

I was going to post this on an Intermittent Fasting Group I’m in but they don’t want anyone promoting fasts over 24 hours. I just needed to share so bad!
So… I swear I am planning to implement a Full Fast Friday into my routine, but that breakfast burrito at the midpoint of our morning dog walk was calling to me! 😂 🌯
At least I got a 23 hour fast done! 💪🏻

My parents are abusive. Their behavior and comments are why I have this disorder.
I’ve told them I have an ED but they basically said no you don’t.

the best thing about intermittent fasting as opposed to completely fasting is that i don't ever feel faint or weak even though i fast for 20 hours straight most days
and also my friends and family can't say shit because they see me eat a big and healthily balanced dinner lol

Water: over 1 gallon (cut to me trying to calculate what 3L + 16.9 oz is 😂) ✅
Activity: I… did not do great. Did not hit 10k steps but I’m looking forward to making up for it tomorrow since I have work later in the day. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Sleep: I think better than the last few? I’m pretty sure I got close to 6 hours of sleep but my Fitbit shows less… regardless, we’re working on it! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Here I am gawking at my food from today. I never thought it was possible to eat so few calories and still feel sane. I think it's a little low since I did a lower body workout this morning but I did have a high calorie weekend so I feel like I'm making up for it. It really feels like I'm making progress, let's see if it shows during tomorrow's weigh-in...

Today’s summary is easy!
Food: I did an all-day fast (trying ADF this time around as I feel good when I periodically fast) ✅
Water: not nearly enough, I have to figure out this work/commute hydration situation. It’s so hard to hydrate when I have a long commute and it makes me have to goooo 🤦🏻‍♀️
Activity: Over 10k steps ✅
Sleep: not ideal, about 4.5 hours and then napped 2 hours after work. Also not on track to have a good amount of sleep tonight 🤦🏻‍♀️

Fasting Tips pt1
just some fasting tips mostly for myself so i remember these but you can use them too :)
- chew gum as it will make your body think that because ur chewing ur eating when really ur not
- keep urself active (editing, shitposting, etc) because it will distract you from food because i find i eat alot when im just bored and have nothing to do
- if you have to eat something eat a rice cake or something with as little calories as possible and then fast for just a little bit longer
