The drink checklist
things you can drink before you give in to eating:
drinks that won't break a fast:
black coffee (caf/decaf)
lemon/lime water
tea (chai, earl grey, green)
sparkling water (w/ lemon or lime)
water + tbsp apple cider vinegar (it will keep you full)
drinks that will break a fast:
zevia soda (root beer, cola)
diet soda
coffee/tea + milk/creamer
remember: don't drink zero-calorie sweeteners while fasting! it will raise your insulin and break your fast!

What happens to your body during different stages of fasting:
What I’ve learned about intermittent fasting from my father, a professional dietician
0-2 hrs - feels pretty normal. You wont yet feel hungry because your blood sugar is still rising from having eaten, this is when your body starts breaking down the food and sorting through to absorb nutrients and store fat
2-5 hrs - blood sugar falls back to near normal and typically doesn’t rise until you eat again
5-8 hrs - blood sugar totally normalizes, this is usually when you’ll start to feel hungry again, by this time your body has used all the glycogen reserves from your last meal. And by the end of this period your body will most likely start burning fat
8-10 hrs - your body switches into fasting mode, more scientifically called gluconeogenesis, this is when your body starts producing glucose from body fat instead of food, your hunger will probably subside for this time and your calorie burning will increase
10-12 hrs - hangry stage, your fat cells will start to flock to your liver to be burned as energy for your body
12-18 hrs - Ketosis, often the high energy “second wind” of the fast where your body is efficiently burning fat for energy, this is the best time during your fast to exercise
18-24 hrs - ketone levels rise, ketone signal to your body to tell it how to regulate your metabolism, they also kick start cellular rejuvenation and anti-inflammatories
24-48 - autophagy, rapid fat burning, anything excess in your body will be processed by your cells to turn into energy, acne, moles, warts, and especially fat
48-56 hrs - increase in growth hormone, this positively affects lean muscle mass and cardiovascular health
56-72 hrs - your insulin is a at very low point, at the very least have some vitamin water, and if you feel faint, break your fast. By now you’ve already moved through the main fat burning stages, and you would benefit more from restarting the cycle than continuing it.
72+ hours - your immune system kicks into hyper speed and starts rapidly repairing anything it can find in order to protect you from bodily crisis, whether its bacteria, viruses, or an injury. Most of your energy will be used for this so you’ll be pretty tired and risk fainting
As always please stay safe, 56 hour fasts are the best way to rapidly burn fat without any insanely negative detriments to your health. I am not promoting starving yourself for 56 hours but if you are planning to starve yourself for longer know that after 56 hrs your fat burning decreases and your risk of passing out rises immensely.

Has anyone done low water fasting (1-2 cups water) vs dry fasting?
I don't see a lot of people dry fasting here on Tumblr
I intermittent fast, sometimes with water, sometimes soft dry.
I'm working on building up to 3 day soft dry fasts.
Most of my fasts lately have been soft dry intermittent, allowing myself to eat and hydrate in the evening.
I've read that day 3 dry fasting the body starts getting the most benefits so I hope I can achieve 3 day soft dry soon.
I'm tempted to allow myself 12 oz of water a day but I know that's not a true soft dry fast and I don't want to lose out on the benefits.
I've noticed people tend to do 1-3 days dry with 1-2 days water and flip between the two for extending their fasts. Some manage to dry fast for extended periods of time, I'm struggling to get past 2 days soft dry lol
I think I'll try low water fasting over the next few days and see how it goes though I'm very likely to end up just intermittent fasting whenever dinner rolls around 🫠 😂

!! VENT !! It happened again. My friend told me that he can feel my ribs while we were cuddling <3 I've asked him if it's bad and he said that he actually likes it. My heart stopped. This is the first person that truly appreciates it without telling me that I should eat more or something like this. I'm not even that skinny so hearing it is even more annoying. So... it's getting real. Lol now I'm starting to think that losing weight is so easy but let's face the truth - it is not. I'm just enjoying the moment too much. Still seeing the results of your hard work is rewarding

I have 3 hours on my fast left, and I'm finally starting to lose weight again! I'm going to try to exercise for the last bit, and then have a small protein meal to break my fast, any suggestions? I could just have a protein shake?
Should I try too fast longer? This is the most toned my torso has ever been too so Im going to try to keep building abs and a flat stomach. Going to try another -10 lbs before this month ends.

Once again, I didn't have dinner, I had a snack around 3 pm and wasn't hungry for lunch until dinner time. I was indignant about the book I read on intermittent fasting, talking about only two meals, but it's all I've been hungry for lately.
And I was fine last night and this morning after skipping dinner yesterday. Not overly hungry.
