could we see the boys going into the hospital to meet eliza after she’s been born? 🥺
This just warms my heart so much. Thank you for giving @munson-blurbs and me the sweetest little prompt for this family 💜

The moment that Wayne puts his truck in park, both Munson boys are unbuckling their seatbelts. Luke, who sat in between his grandfather and big brother for the entirety of the ride to the hospital, feels like he’s going to tear his curls out of his head when neither of them gets out of his way fast enough.
“Relax, Luke,” Wayne says as Luke jumps out of the truck with a huff. “Your sister’s not goin’ anywhere. She can’t exactly walk yet, ya know.”
“But I’ve been waiting forever to meet her,” he whines. “Like…a year!”
“We’ve only known about her for six months,” Ryan says with an irritated eye roll.
“Will you two hush up? We’re walking into a hospital,” Wayne chastises, gesturing his grandsons through the automatic sliding doors before him. The strong smell of antiseptic invades their nostrils as they step inside, making Luke wrinkle up his nose in displeasure.
The entire ride up in the elevator to the third floor and the walk down hallways towards the maternity ward, the excitement buzzing between the Munson men is palpable. There’s a pressure building the closer they get, the boys like pots that are boiling over, ready to pop their lids. Every squeak of their shoes against the white linoleum floor feels like it’s echoing their heartbeats. Finally, they step into the waiting room they’re to meet Eddie. When thirty seconds pass without their father appearing, Luke starts fidgeting and heaving out impatient sighs.
“Where is he?” he groans. “Doesn’t he know we’re coming? That we’re here?”
Wayne lovingly musses Luke’s hair. “Hold your horses, buddy. He’ll be right out.”
Sure enough, Eddie comes around the corner moments later. Exhaustion paints dark circles under his eyes, but his bright smile doesn’t leave any doubt of his excitement.
“Are you guys ready to meet your sister?” he asks, wincing when Luke begins cheering and dancing like he just scored the winning touchdown. “Remember, we have to be calm and quiet around the baby. We don’t wanna scare her.”
Ryan nods and holds his forefinger to his lips while Luke tiptoes cartoonishly, making more noise than if he just walked normally. They stick their little heads around the door and see you sitting up in bed and holding a little bundle of blankets.
“Hi, guys,” you loudly whisper, not to wake the baby. Even though the hospital is making far stranger and louder sounds than anyone in the room could. You yawn, fighting to keep your eyes open so you can see their reactions to their baby sister.
Eddie walks over to stand by your side, motioning for his sons and uncle to join him. As the boys lay eyes on their new sister for the first time, their faces mirror one another’s as their eyes widen and little jaws drop.
“She’s so little,” Ryan says, awestruck. He reaches out to touch her before sharply pulling back, looking to you for permission.
“It’s okay, Ry,” you reassure him, punctuating the statement with another yawn. Your heart melts when he brushes his forefinger over her closed fist.
Eliza follows your lead, tiny mouth opening to let out a yawn of her own.
Luke wrinkles his nose. “Why is she tired?” he asks. “She doesn’t do anything!”
“Babies need lots of sleep,” you tell him. “Even more than your dad does.”
Eddie playfully narrows his eyes at you. “You’re lucky you just gave birth to my daughter.” My daughter. It hadn’t felt real when he’d said it when Eliza was still in utero, but now that she’s here, it holds a stronger meaning.
Wayne blinks back tears, trying not to show emotion, but his glassy gaze gives him away. “She’s beautiful, guys,” he manages, clearing his throat.
Eddie claps him on the back, both men sporting matching grins as they look down at Eliza.
Luke inspects his sister’s face, then her little fingers. “I was this small?” he asks.
“Smaller,” Eddie tells him. “You were a little over six pounds. Eliza here is just over seven.”
Ryan smiles when he hears her name spoken out loud, still in disbelief that this name that’s been going around now belongs to a person and it’s this tiny person who just came into the world.
Eliza’s eyes crack open just enough to tell she’s looking in Ryan’s direction, like she already knows that he’s her big brother.
“Hi, Eliza,” Ryan says softly, a huge grin plastered on his face. “I’m Ryan. I’m your oldest brother. But I’m not old.”
“I’m Luke,” Luke chimes in, waving at his new sister. “I’m the one who would always sing VeggieTales to you every night while you were in Mama’s belly.”
You know Luke referred to you as “mama” for Eliza’s sake, but with all the hormones rushing through you it still makes you tear up.
“Do you boys want to hold her?” you ask.
They glance nervously at one another, despite the fact that they both really want to. They’ve been around Amelia Harrington and Tiffany Sinclair as babies, but they’ve never held them, especially not when they were this small and fragile.
“If you’re not ready, that’s okay,” Eddie tells them comfortingly.
“No, I want to,” Ryan pipes up.
Wayne makes room for Eddie to bring the chair on the other side of the room up closer to the bed. Ryan sits down when his dad nods at him, while you make sure the blanket is securely swaddled around Eliza.
Eddie gets down on one knee next to Ryan. “Okay bud, you’ve got to support her head, yeah? She’s not strong enough to hold it up on her own so you have to help her out a little.”
Ryan nods as he scoots all the way back in the chair, eyes wide behind his glasses.
“Don’t worry,” Eddie tells him with a reassuring grin. Of course their father can see the nerves popping up in his two boys. “It’s easy. And I’ll be right here next to you if you need or want me to take her, okay?”
“Okay,” Ryan says, trying to portray more confidence than he feels.
You carefully hand Eliza to Eddie, who coos a bit once she’s in her father’s arms. Eddie holds her in the crook of his arm and Eliza lets out a content little sigh.
“Such a Daddy’s girl already,” you tease.
Eddie grins, still over the moon that he has a daughter. A daughter with you. And she’s finally here in his arms.
Wayne leans in to show Ryan how to hold his arms the best, balancing his elbows on the chair’s arms. “Just like that,” the older man says. “And you’ll hold her little head right here.”
Eddie carefully places Eliza into Ryan’s arms. Ryan’s lower lip juts out, overcome with emotion, as he looks down at the baby he’s holding. Of course, he’s always known that he’s a big brother, taking on the responsibilities and duties that come with it. But Luke’s been around since before Ryan can even remember. They’re only two years apart, it’s always been this way for them. Eliza is his new baby sister, though. A renewed sense of big brother love and protectiveness comes over him as he looks down at the dozing baby. She’s so little and she’s going to be coming home soon. There’s going to be a baby in the house. All these things that Ryan already knew are finally sinking in for him. It makes him chuckle for some reason. As he gazes down at Eliza, her tiny face pinching up and tiny coos coming from her tiny lips, Ryan just grins as a wave of happiness comes over him.
Eddie stands between Ryan in the chair and you in the bed, staying closer to his son just in case. As you watch Ryan with Eliza, you can’t help but get choked up by another round of emotions. The memories of meeting Ryan for the first time are still clear as day to you, as if they happened yesterday, not over five and a half years ago. The little six-year-old who was too shy to even say hello to you at first. It’s amazing how quickly after meeting him you came to adore the person that he is and have such an immense love for him. It seems like you only just blinked and there he is, holding his little sister. Eliza Marie Munson. Your and Eddie’s daughter. Even without the hormones coursing through you this would be emotional, but they’re certainly not helping either.
You slip your hand into Eddie’s and look up to see his own eyes filling with tears. Images of Ryan being born, being the small little baby coming into the world must be playing in his mind, you think. And now to see he’s grown into this compassionate, intelligent, handsome young man who is holding his baby sister with so much tenderness and love.
“H-Hi, Eliza,” Ryan says as he gazes down at her. “I knew you would be small but you’re smaller than a loaf of bread.”
You, Eddie, and Wayne all share a chuckle at that.
“I’m happy you’re here now,” Ryan tells her. “I’ll do my best to make sure Luke doesn’t get you into too much trouble.”
“Hey!” Luke pouts.
“Is he wrong though?” Eddie asks, raising an eyebrow at his youngest son—now his middle child as well.
“That’s besides the point,” Luke scoffs. He notices the tiny Band-Aid on Eliza’s foot. “What’s that for?”
“She had to get a shot,” you explain. “In her heel.”
Luke grins. “For scurvy?”
Eddie rolls his eyes. “No, Vitamin K, you little weirdo.”
“Oh,” Luke sighs dejectedly before adding, “but you need Vitamin C to prevent scurvy!”
Eddie leans in and whispers into Eliza’s little ear, “don’t ever listen to a word he says, please.”
Ryan looks up at Luke and nods his head towards their sister.  “You wanna hold her?”
“Is it hard?” Luke asks his older brother, face creased with worry. His voice has a slight tremor, as if he’s unsure if his nerves are getting the better of him or not.
“So easy,” Ryan assures him. “Just gotta make sure you got her head.”
“Okay,” Luke decides with a nod on finality. “I’ll do it.”
Eddie can’t help but think Luke sounds more like he’s agreeing to be a test subject for a science experiment. Ryan carefully hands Eliza back to Eddie and gets out of the chair so Luke can sit. Eliza coos again and you furrow your brow as you look at your tiny baby in your husband’s arms.
“Hey, I know you love your Daddy—we all do, but I’m the one who carried ya for nine months and then pushed you out of my body. Why don’t you make those cute noises for me?” you ask.
“Maybe she’s trying to yell at him in baby language,” Luke says as he sits down. “Who are you and why are you holding me and why do you have so much hair?!” Luke’s impersonation of what Eliza’s high-pitched voice would sound like has you and Ryan laughing. Acting just as childishly as the actual children in the room, Eddie sticks his tongue out at Luke.
Ryan shows Luke how to hold his arms and Wayne watches on with a smile, proud his grandson remembers the things he teaches him. Slowly, Eddie lowers Eliza into Luke’s awaiting arms.
Luke giggles once he’s finally holding her on his own.
“Oh my God, she barely weighs anything!”
“Tell that to my hoo-ha,” you mumble under your breath and slightly adjust the way you’re sitting in the bed.
“Hey, Eliza,” Luke says. At the sound of his voice, Eliza cracks her eyes open to inspect the new person holding her. “I’m gonna teach you all the things. Like ice skating and swimming and bowling and a whole lot of other stuff! And I’ll beat up any boys who are mean to you or break your heart.”
Your heart swells at the declaration he’s making to his sister—and you have no doubt he means what he says. She’s only been in this world a few hours and they’re already such amazing big brothers to her, you think.
All of a sudden, Luke starts laughing, but tries to keep it softer for the baby.
“Look, she’s smiling at me! She knows I’m the funny one.” He sticks his tongue out at Ryan, emphasizing the fact that Eddie was acting with the maturity of a ten-year-old when he just did the same thing.
“Uh, I don’t think that’s what it means,” Eddie warns, but not soon enough.
“Ew!” Luke exclaims, wrinkling his nose. “I am not changing a poopy diaper, nope!”
Eddie takes Eliza from him. “I got this,” he says softly.
You watch as your husband delicately changes her diaper, unable to hide his disgusted expression that matches Luke’s. Loving his daughter with every ounce of his being does not negate the odors that come along with her.
Your gaze drifts over to Ryan and Luke, who are watching their father intently. They take in every gentle touch and every soft word and smile Eddie gives to the newborn. You can feel your emotions welling up just thinking about how they’ll be such great dads one day because they have the best role model.
“Good as new,” Eddie proclaims, wrapping Eliza back up in her blanket. “You wanna hold your granddaughter, Wayne?”
Tears momentarily cloud the older man’s vision. “Give ‘er here.” He opens his arms and Eddie places the baby in the crook of his elbow. “Well, hi there, Ms. Eliza,” Wayne says with a smile. “We’re so glad you’re here. ‘S kind of a crazy family, but you’ll get used to us.”
As he says it, it dawns on you: this is your family. A doting husband who can make you feel loved without even trying, an uncle who would give you all the moon on a string if you asked, two stepsons who keep you laughing on your worst days, and now your daughter, who will grow up in a home filled with love and happiness.
As Wayne takes the boys back home—it’s past bedtime, and they have school in the morning—you can’t help but stare at Eddie. He’s exhausted from helping you through labor, but he can’t stop smiling.
“You did such an incredible job growing our little girl,” he murmurs into your scalp. “I love you so fucking much.”
“I love you more.” You look at him, then back down to the newborn in your arms. “But I’m pretty sure she’s the most loved.”

// What age did you guys stop believing in Santa? Sad memory under keep reading;;
I figured out a handful of years ago in therapy, that the likely reason why my sister and I believed in Santa until- well, I remember I was 13.. Not sure if my sister believed when she was 15 (she's 2 years older than I am) The longevity of believing in Santa, probably was from having such an abusive Father growing up. Our mom was fantastic as well as our step-dad. But... until I was old enough when I was 13 to decide not to see my biological father anymore (no more every other weekend trips) we needed the Christmas magic. We needed to believe in santa claus. Christmas was so chaotic until that point in my life when I said I didn't want to see him anymore. We had to wake up super early, then we would open gifts at like...5-6am. Get ready for the church service for 8am or something. whatever time it was. Or it was 7am. Something like that. It was hella early. Go to my great aunt and uncles place for breakfast. Then go to my grandparents place. While we were at my grandparents place, my biological father would pick us up there and we would be gone for like... what... a week? Those weeks were usually awful. I remember one time, ptsd tangent incoming. I was 12 or 13 at the time. One of my last Christmases with them. My Dad wanted me to go for an atv ride with him. We hooked a sled onto the back of it. We were going way too fast. It was storming. I kept yelling at him to slow down. The snowflakes hitting my face was hurting so bad and he kept going faster on the atv. Eventually at one point when he turned a corner- his family owned a huge farm plot with 3 houses on it- but eventually when he was turning a corner on the property, I did a tuck and roll to get off the sled. He noticed I "fell off" and came back to get me. He told me to get back on the sled. I argued with him that he was going to fast. He said he wasn't. I was telling him I had frost bite on my face. Again, he said I didn't. I started to walk away and he started to throw snow/ice balls at me. Man was in the military and ontario police. He has very good aim. One point, I went to turn around to say I was going back to grandma and grandpa's and the snow/ice ball hit me in the face and got into my eyes. It hurt so bad I started sobbing. The world was spinning and in a blizzard, I had to find my own way back to my grandparent's place because he drove off to finish having an atv ride around the property. I'm pretty sure I had a concussion. I couldn't see straight, the world was sideways and it was snowing so heavily... Eventually, I made it back and told my older sister what happened. I have NO IDEA where any of the adults were. But one, my uncle's fiancee was there, she doesn't like kids. But she was nice enough to hear me out what happened and help put eye drops in my eyes because I still couldn't see and stayed with me until the world stopped spinning. Realistically I should have gone to the hospital. But it was a blizzard outside. Anyways, sorry for the ptsd tangent. Needed to vent about a memory. D:

Billy Russo x Female Reader (60 part story)
This follows pre- the punisher into the storyline of daredevil, punisher season 1 and beyond
This is NOT Canon Billy. This is decent human being Billy left with bad options over worse decisions
This was also posted to A03 under: WaywardGaPeach. That account and this one is the only place you'll see me post this. If you see it on any other platform/account know it's not me.
Chapter Summary: Billy spends one of his last nights stateside helping you through the aftermath of a rough call. When he calls you Alice decides she's tired of you and Billy tip toeing around your feelings
You didn't know how long you'd been sitting on the bench in the locker room. You'd gotten out the shower and changed out your uniform but your hair still hung down around your shoulders and your socks and shoes were untouched in front of you.
It wasn't the first time you'd lost someone on a call. Hell it was just a fact that not everyone would make it to the hospital. You'd never had to pronounce someone while their wife was being loaded into another rig begging you to save her husband.
"Y/N?" Alice calling your name softly made you jump. She sat down gently next to you and put her arm around your shoulders  "We couldn't do anything for him. It's hard I know" you leaned over on her and nodded "He was twenty two Alice. God he was a kid" you tried not to take calls home with you but some were simply worse than others and that wife's screams were still ringing in your ears. "Wanna come home with me and Kenzie? I won't be sleeping too well tonight either and we can keep each other company"
You appreciated the offer but didn't want to intrude considering they hadn't moved in together but a month before. "No but I will take a ride home when she comes to pick you up" you replied and she nodded "I'm gonna head out front. Just come out when you're finished up"
You finally slipped your shoes on and heard your phone ringing when you were finishing throwing your stuff in your bag. You picked it up and actually managed a smile when you saw it was Maria then you remembered what day it was "Shit your mom and dad are leaving tomorrow" was what you ending up saying in place of hello.
"And I'm guessing you didn't remember?" She asked and you knew the moment you let out a breath she knew something was wrong and big sister mode kicked in "What happened?" You picked up your bag and headed out the locker room before answering "We had a hard call. You hear about that car going under the semi?"
She was silent for a moment before saying "Oh honey. I'm sorry. Do you want me to come over?" You shook your head then remembered she couldn't see you "No cause when you tell Vivian and Jon I had a bad day they'll want to come too and while I love them for that I'd rather all of you have a nice dinner and I'll come over tomorrow to see them off"
Instead of arguing like you half expected her to she sighed and said "promise to call if you need us before then?" "Yes ma'am" you replied then spotted Kenzie pulling into the parking lot and Alice looking around for you. "Gotta go Ria. Alice and Kenz are giving me a ride home. Give everyone my love and I'll be over for coffee come morning" "Bye sweetie"
--------------------
You waved as Kenzie and Alice pulled out onto the road before heading into your building. You smiled at Ms Johnson the eldery lady that lived with six poodles on the second floor. "Have a good day?" She asked so you nodded "Yes ma'am" and continued on to the elevator.
You leaned against the wall watching the numbers until it stopped on the third floor then pushed yourself off the wall to step off. The moment you were out the elevator you froze. Billy was leaning against the doorframe of your apartment obviously waiting for you. How the hell did he manage to look like that doing something so mundane? God he looked like he'd just stepped off the cover of one of the magazines plastered around the many stands you passed in a day's time.
"Ria call you?" You asked once you talked your feet into approaching him. He glanced up and a smile tugged at the corner of his lips when he saw you "She may have mentioned you had a bad day but in my defense I was already halfway here when she called me" your eyes narrowed in confusion at his words. You'd originally had plans to go over to the Castles for dinner with Vivian and Jon. How the hell had he known you'd be home?
Apparently he knew along the lines of what you were thinking because he explained "Curt passed the scene you were working earlier. Figured you'd not be in the mood for a dinner party so I came by to check on you"
"Thanks Billy but you don't have to waste one of your last nights home on me. You and Frank ship out again in ten days now"  he stepped out the way to let you unlock your apartment then walked in behind you. "Waste one of my last nights? Spending time with you? How the hell is that a waste?"  He asked stepping around you taking your bag off your shoulder in the process.
You watched with a half smile as he walked into your bedroom and laid your bag down next to your dresser then came back out with a grin. "Now how about you sit right there on that couch, we'll order some form of food and see what decent movies we can find to laugh at?" "Billy I'm fine really..you don't have to stay" you tried but he grabbed his chest in mock hurt "Oh come on sweetheart. You're hurting my feelings! Am I unwanted here?"
For the first time that day a full grin slipped onto your face "You're always wanted here Russo. If you insist on staying you choose the food, I'll choose the movie" he gave you a wink then flopped down on the couch and patted the cushion next to him "That's my girl"
Tumblr media
When the day came for Frank and Billy to leave you were once again standing with Maria and the kids at the airport while your group said your goodbyes to the men. It had become so routine to you that you barely registered that Billy was standing with an arm around you while Frank and Maria had their final moments in each other's arms for the next ten or more months.
You stepped away from Billy to hug Frank and whispered in his ear "I got Ria and the kids so don't worry about them" "Thank you Y/N" he said softly back before giving you a light squeeze then moving onto the kids for their hugs and goodbyes.
You smiled at Billy who pulled you into a tight hug "I'm gonna miss you. Remember to write me. I'll call and Skype when I can" he spoke into your hair and you nodded enjoying the feel of being tucked against his chest. You could feel the beat of his heart under your cheek and closed your eyes for a moment before saying "Make it back in one piece Russo and bring Frank home safe" he kissed your forehead then stepped back and gave you that smile that always made your heart do a flip "Of course sweetheart. You and Maria aren't getting rid of us that easily"
-------------
You stood with an arm around Maria while you both had an arm around one of the kids and watched until the final person stepped onto the plane and it started pulling away from the gate to turn to leave. You always stayed with them the first night after Frank left and this would be no different "so where are we thinking for dinner?" You asked and saw Maria crack a small smile when the kids started listing off several different places at once.
Tumblr media
Deployments were something you were by far used to. As an extension of Maria you'd been connected to the Marines as long as she had. From the very first time Frank had to ship out you were right next to her supporting her when he walked onto the plane.
Deployments after getting so close with Billy started feeling different. When he was home there were few days you went without seeing him. You found yourself missing his presence even in small moments.
You now kept your laptop next to the bed so if he got a chance to Skype and had also downloaded a video chatting app on your phone. There was a shoebox full of letters under your bed that was overflowing from ones you'd kept over the time you'd known him yet you couldn't bring yourself to throw even the simplest letter away.
----------------
You were on a twenty four hour shift so you'd just settled into your bunk when you heard the chiming on your phone that was a video call. You picked it up and saw the photo of you,Billy and the kids that always popped up when he called and slid to answer.
You pushed yourself into a sitting position before his face appeared on the screen. "Hey sweetheart!" He greeted with a smile. You fought back a yawn as you said "Hey Billy" he squinted a bit at the screen then muttered "Shit you're on your bunk meaning I either woke you up or I'm keeping you from catching some sleep on shift"
"Billy it's fine. I just got back from a call so it's not like i was going to be able to go straight to sleep. How are you and Frank?" He still seemed skeptical but said "We're good. Frank is actually on with Maria but the kids are already in bed so I figured I'd see how you were and get out from over his shoulder" "oh so I'm just a second option to the munchkins I see how it is Russo" you teased and got that signature smirk in return "Well the munchkins aren't as distracting as you are. Even in your uniform you're still one of the most beautiful women in New York"
"One of? She's the most beautiful woman in New York well besides Kenzie" Alice interrupted draping herself across your shoulders from her bunk behind you.
He rolled his eyes playfully "Alice you have a girlfriend remember?" She shrugged "Your point being? Kenzie agrees with me that it is insane that Y/N here is still single. Like what the hell is wrong with men in New York well women too for that matter. If I hadn't been her partner for this many years and with Kenzie I'd be trying to date her. Anyone that had a chance with her and didn't take it is a damn fool"
You shook your head at her and gave a gentle shove "Back to your own bunk Hendrixs. You need sleep" she grinned at you "Yes ma'am" then waved at Billy "Bye Russo. Get back in one piece ok?"  "Bye Alice keep an eye on her for me"
Once Alice was tucked back into her bunk you turned your attention back to the screen and smiled "She gets weirder the later it gets sorry about that" "no problem. I've been friends with Frankie this many years I'm used to weird" Billy laughed then you heard Frank's voice  "I heard that asshole" right before his face appeared next to Billy's "Hey Y/N"
"Hey Frank. You talk to Maria?" You asked and he nodded "Told me you and Jr blew up a science project in the backyard and you're helping Curt start a soup kitchen for vets on his days off" you smiled then said "Well the science project was a volcano so that explosion was a success and yea it's a slow go but I'm trying to help him with whatever I can"
"You're a damn super woman Y/N" Frank replied and your smile grew "Anything for my family Frank. You know that" before either of them could say anything you heard a voice call out "Castle! Russo!" And Billy cursed under his breath. "We gotta go sweetheart. Give the kids a hug from me" Frank said and you nodded "Always. Stay safe both of you"
Billy smiled and said "You stay safe too. I'll try to call you in a few days" you managed to say "I'll be waiting" before the screen went black.
You turned around and popped Alice on the forehead "Ow! What the hell?" She groaned even though a grin was playing at her lips. "What was that rant about?" You questioned and she shrugged "I'm sick of seeing you two dance around each other. You're both grown. Russo needs to either make a move or you need to find someone else to be heart eyed over. Figure I could remind him how amazing you are"
"Me and Billy…" you tried but she quickly interrupted "Are just friends. Yea I've heard that bullshit before. Look you two spend more time together when he's home then most couples i know. He looks at you like a puppy and you're not much better. Way I see it confess feelings now. If he chickens out you have many months to get rebound sex and be over the sting by the time he gets stateside. I love you and I want you happy. Take a chance mami!" You rolled your eyes and laid the phone down on your charging pad next to the bed "You're insane and I'm tired so on that lovely note"
You started to lay down but time your head hit the pillow an alarm rang out about a woman in labor and Alice all but giggled "On that note we're gonna go possibly deliver a baby at two am"

Throughout the drive, you remained silent, a million different thoughts rushing around your swirling head.
You thought you knew Fez. Sure, you hadn't technically been around more than a couple of months, but you'd spent so much of your time in his presence, and although you knew he could appear standoffish and stoic, you also knew how golden-hearted he was. How sweet he could be.
But tonight, you were finally shown the darker side of him. You couldn't deny it; it scared you. And yet... He didn't.
Once the car was in park and he'd opened his door, you practically fell from the vehicle in an attempt to chase after him. Once the three of you were inside, you threw the sweater into Fez's face, the boy sending you a quizzical look as he held it in his hands,
"What the fuck was that about, Fezco?"
"I ain't dealing with this bullshit. Night." Ash made his way to his bedroom, uninterested in the fact his brother had beaten the living shit out of Nate Jacobs. He was sure he had a good reason for it, and even if he didn't... Well, they were brothers.
Neither of you paid much attention as Ash left, his heavy footsteps disappearing down the hall. The two of you stood only a few feet away from each other, staring. Or, in your case, glaring.
Stepping forward, you repeated yourself, "Fezco. Seriously. You can't just pull that shit and think nothing's gonna come of it."
"I really don't fucking care. Playboy deserved it."
"Beating him to a fucking pulp? Really? Who the fuck deserves that-"
Throwing his sweater over the back of the sofa, Fez's jaw clenched, "I already told you. He fucking deserved it, and he's lucky I stopped when I did."
"You only stopped because you were pulled off him."
Shrugging, Fez made his way to the bathroom, ready to wash his hands under the water and scrub the blood from his knuckles. He barely flinched when the door swung back open after him, your body stumbling into the room.
"You're a fucking idiot, Fezco. His dad-"
"I don't give a shit about his dad. He ain't gonna do nothin'. It's all bullshit."
Squeezing your eyes shut, you tried to stop the room from spinning, "You put someone in the hospital, Fez."
"Just 'cause you had one dance wit' him, doesn't mean you gotta ride his dick so hard," he scoffed, shaking his head as he ran his hands under the cold water.
"Are you for real? That's what this is about? Fucking hell, Fezco. I hate the guy as much as you do, but you have absolutely no right to be jealous-"
"You think I ain't seen him eyeing you? Watching you across the room? Shit, Rue told me he was fuckin' hassling you, I didn't think you would actually wanna be around him-"
Marching forward, you turned off the tap, forcing him to turn his head to you as his brows pulled down, "Nate Jacobs is a piece of shit. I know that, you know that, fucking hell, even he knows that. But I don't need you beating the shit out of people for my fuckin' honor, or whatever the fucking reason was."
Taking a deep breath, Fez tried to calm himself down. This was the first time you'd really spoken in so long, he didn't want to say something he'd regret and push you even further away.
"It ain't just about you, OK? He's been fuckin' with Rue and Jules, and you know she's family to me. We both know he was the one who called the cops and started all that shit with Mouse in the first fuckin' place. He deserved it."
Your high might've been fading, but as you looked into Fez's pleading cerulean eyes, you finally managed to put two and two together.
"This isn't the first time, is it?"
Pulling his brows together, Fez's head tilted to the side as he watched you, "I don't know what you mean, Ma-"
"Don't fucking 'Ma' me, Fezco," pushing away from his side, you began to pace in front of him, looking almost manic, "The shit with Mouse... How did you get the money?"
Fez stood ramrod straight, his eyes avoiding you as he seemed to find something much more fascinating on his shoe. Remaining silent, you continued your pacing.
"Your hands... Your knuckles were busted that night, too. This wasn't the first time you did this," turning to look at Fez, eyes wide your voice was much quieter as you came to the realization, "Who the fuck did you hurt for that money, Fez?"
Rubbing the back of his head, Fez released a long sigh, still trying to avoid your eyes. Moving toward him, you cupped his face, tipping his head backward until his remorseful eyes met yours.
"I didn't wanna say anythin', 'cause I thought you'd think differently of me. You weren't meant to be there, and I didn't think you'd have to find out. I know I fucked up that night but I promise you, he wasn't a good person either."
Your chin wobbled as you continued to stare at him. He was right, you did think differently of him after that night. You'd been relatively forthcoming with each other -- almost instantaneously -- and that night was the first time you knew he was hiding something from you. It felt like the beginning of the end.
"You don't get to choose if they're good people or not, Fezco."
His mouth opened as you pulled your hands away from him, stepping back toward the bathroom door, but he quickly closed it when you returned your crestfallen gaze to him.
"I should go."
He didn't even hesitate, "You could stay."
Shaking your head, you tried not to watch as his shoulders slumped, "This doesn't change anything, Fez. My dad is still sitting in jail because of you-"
"He's in jail because he almost killed you. He's lucky the cops got there before me." Fez stepped forward, unable to hide his exasperation.
"You're really not helping your case here."
Leaning against the sink, Fez ignored the pulsing pain radiating from his knuckles as he released a sigh, "Look, Ma... I ain't gonna apologize. I told Nate what would happen if he kept fuckin' with us. But I am sorry you had to see it."
Nodding, you pressed your lips into a tight line. When you didn't respond, he stepped forward, still keeping a respectful distance as he tried to catch your eyes, "At least lemme drive you home."
The ride was quiet, the awkward silence between you was suffocating and you almost wished you'd just walked home. Your high had dwindled and you'd left the rest of your drugs in Virgil's laundry room with Rue and Elliot.
As Fez's car rolled to a stop, both you and Fez's eyes were glued to your house. Loud music pumped out of the open windows, and crowds of kids you didn't recognize littered the front yard.
"Yo, you missin' your own party or somethin'?"
Inhaling deeply, you stared at your house a moment too long for Fez's liking, his brow furrowing, "You ain't know about this? You want me to-"
"No, Fez. It's fine. I, uh... It's OK."
Undoing your seatbelt, you slid out of the car, sending him what you hoped was a reassuring nod, "Thanks for the ride."
Fez watched as you made your way to the open front door, ignoring the people who were sitting around, drinking. Sighing, he finally drove off once you were safely in the house.
Tumblr media
Pushing your way through the crowd, you ignored the murmurs as you elbowed your way through, eyes darting around the darkened room looking for someone you recognized.
Any other night, and you'd have been fine, but after the shitshow of a New Year's party, you just wanted to head to bed.
"Hey, you finally made it." Liam turned after you'd tapped him on the back, face split into a large grin.
"I mean, I do live here Liam. What the fuck is this?"
Liam slung his arm over your shoulders, and you noticed how dilated his pupils were, knowing the beer in his hand had nothing to do with it, "Nobody had a free house, and your place is so great. Plus, I wanted to see you tonight. Start my new year off right."
"I don't even know half of these people, Liam."
Shrugging, he released a loud laugh, "Neither do I. It's fine."
He pulled you into an embrace, totally unaware of your stiff posture, arms hanging by your sides, "C'mon, you're way too sober for a party. Devon's here and-"
"Devon came?"
Liam's smile stretched even wider as he nodded in the direction of his favorite dealer, "Of course. He didn't wanna miss a night this big."
Pushing yourself from your ex-boyfriend's grip, you made your way over to Devon, who was sitting in the kitchen on a fold-up chair, smoking a cigarette, "Sup, baby. Nice party. House is a bit of a downgrade though."
Sighing, you fell into the empty chair next to him, wishing everyone else would just disappear, "It wasn't really my idea."
"Oh shit. Well, you know how it is. I heard you been throwin' one most nights."
Taking a deep inhale of the cigarette Devon had offered you, you closed your eyes, feeling the warm smoke settle in your chest, slowly forcing you to finally exhale.
"If you feed a stray dog, he's never gonna leave."
Turning your attention back to Devon, you handed him back the cigarette, "I thought you liked Liam."
A velvet laugh escaped his lips as he puffed away, "I like him when he's buyin' from me. Soon as the transaction is over, so are we."
Making a non-committal noise, you rested your head on your hand.
Devon wasn't like the rest of the people you knew from your old life. He didn't go to private school and never had rich parents to fall back on. In some ways, he reminded you a little of Fez.
He wasn't old money. Anything he had, he got himself. There was a rumor going around a few years back that he'd been in jail for a while, but nobody really knew why, and nobody was brave -- or stupid -- enough to inquire.
He sold a lot more shit than Fez ever did, not caring about who he sold to. So long as they had the money, he'd supply them with drugs. You weren't even sure if he felt an ounce of guilt when a guy died a couple years back from a Fentanyl overdose in the middle of a party. Fentanyl that was supplied by him.
Nobody dared to tell the cops where the boy had got the drugs, all denying any knowledge of it at all. Devon didn't have to worry about it. A couple of thinly-veiled threats and he was good.
Biting your lower lip, your eyes scanned the swarm of people, all enjoying themselves as you sat pouting in your own home. Pulling out your phone, you sent Rue a quick text, asking if she managed to keep her promise and not snort everything between herself and Elliot. When you received no reply, you presumed she was either with Jules still, or too high to respond. Either way, neither option helped you out much.
Maybe you should've got Elliot's number before you left.
"Man, who pissed in your cornflakes this mornin'?"
"What?" turning your head, you noticed Devon staring at you, an eyebrow raised as he looked through the crowd, spotting Liam and Jen almost aggressively making out.
"You still hung up 'bout that?"
Scoffing, you turned away from the PDA-loving couple, a disgusted look settling on your face, "Not in the slightest. I'm just... I dunno."
"Too sober?" He grinned, his gold tooth shining in the low light.
"Entirely."
"Whatcha need then? I got all the usual."
Thinking for a moment, your heart pounded.  Pills were fine, great even. But it just didn't feel enough. Remember the serenity you felt the moment Faye's drug of choice entered your bloodstream, you squeezed your eyes shut, refusing to look at Devon.
"Do you have anything... Stronger."
Tumblr media
Your phone vibrated on your bedside table repeatedly, enough so that you were more than happy to launch the thing at the wall. Before you did, you checked the caller ID, noticing it was Rue. Releasing a dramatic sigh, you answered,
"What the fuck was that last night?"
Rue hadn't even given you the time to breathe, but at least she sounded as rough as you did.
"Honestly... No fucking idea."
"In all the time I've known Fez, I've never seen him act like that. It was fuckin' badass. Man is a fuckin' G."
Squeezing your eyes closed, you really weren't in the mood, "Rue, c'mon. He put Nate in hospital. Do we even know if he's OK?"
"I fuckin' hope not. Nate's a piece of shit. He had it coming." Rue scoffed, coming to Fez's defense.
Rubbing your hand over your face, you groaned when you realized you'd slept in your makeup, "How was the rest of the night? You spoke to Jules, right?"
You could hear the smile in her voice as she spoke, "Yeah. It was... Actually kinda good. Oh shit, guess what happened."
Rue continued when you grumbled, "So, I was in the laundry room with Elliot, waiting for you to come back, and I swear to God I thought I was gonna die. My heartbeat was super fuckin' low."
Your eyes flew open, the light from your bedroom window burning your retinas, "Rue, what the fuck?"
"It's totally fine, I snorted some Adderall and everything was good."
Were you not vilely hungover, you would've scorned Rue for her flippant reaction. Fortunately for her, however, you felt the mistakes of last night begin to crawl up your throat,
"Listen, Rue. I gotta go. But you're OK, right?"
"Yeah, yeah. I'm totally good."
After your conversation with Rue ended, you laid back on your bed, taking deep breaths until your nausea settled down. Your mind was groggy, and your arms and legs felt like they were made of lead, causing you to refuse to move for a solid hour.
Eventually, you grabbed your phone again and sent Maddy a text, asking how Nate was.
Her reply was blunt, and you couldn't help the shiver of guilt that ran down your spine when she asked you why the hell Fez would do that. Out of all the people at that party, you felt like she should know exactly why someone would pound Nate to a pulp.
Your phone vibrated again and assuming it was Maddy you quickly unlocked your phone, finding your motions freezing when you read the ID. It was Fez.
A simple text, asking if you could speak later. Hearing a loud groan from your bedroom floor, you shot up in bed, brows pulled together as you stared at the stranger who was pushing herself from the floor of your bedroom. Noticing you, she sent you a quick head nod before stumbling out of the door, hopefully on her way home.
Pushing yourself up and hoping you at least made it out of your room before you thew up, you continued your deep breaths until you reached the top of the stairs, ignoring the ripped wallpaper and graffiti covering the walls as you slowly made your way downstairs.
Giving a swift nudge to someone's ribs as you stepped over them, you cleared your throat before calling out, "C'mon guys. Party's over, go the fuck home."
Groans and grumbles were heard as one by one, everyone slowly got up, grabbing their shit and leaving. At least they all looked as bad as you felt.
Devon -- who had fallen asleep in the chair he'd been sitting in the last time you'd seen him -- groaned, taking a swig of whatever liquid he had in a plastic bottle before offering some to you.
Ignoring the rumble of rejection from your stomach, you took a gulp, your face screwing up when the vodka hit your taste buds.
As Devon pushed himself up, you quickly grabbed his sleeve, peering up at him desperately, "Before you go, do you, uh... You have any more?"
His brows tugged together for just a second, as he tried to figure out what the hell you were talking about, "Oh, yeah. You know, you can say heroin, baby. It ain't a bad word."
You swallowed the lump in your throat as he huffed out a laugh, digging through his backpack for what he needed. Raiding your bag that was hung up in the closet, you grabbed your purse.
"$152 for an ounce, $80 for half, or-"
"Half an ounce is fine, thanks." Ignoring his raised eyebrow, you shuffled your weight between your feet as you waited for him to retrieve the right baggy, before counting the cash you'd handed him.
"'Bout 10 hits in that, so take it steady, alright? Nice doin' business with you." You watched as Devon made his way toward the door, saying a quick goodbye to Liam who was hovering around.
"Great party last night," he smiled as you made your way toward him, ready to ask him to leave.
"Yeah, would've been great had I known about it."
Liam had the decency to look abashed, his hands in his jean pockets as he looked toward the floor, "Yeah, I'm sorry about that. It's all good though, right?"
Shrugging your shoulders, you sent him a tight-lipped smile.
"I should uh, I should get going... Right?"
Nodding, you moved to hold the door as he stepped through it into the bright sun. Declining any help in tidying the place, you tried to hurry him out so you could go back to your room and crash.
Balking as Liam's lips tried to connect with your own, thankfully you were quick enough to turn your cheek, leaving his mouth to skim your face. Taking your face in his hands, he smashed his lips onto yours, refusing to let you move your face away.
"What about Jen..." You huffed, pushing him away by his chest as you peered around him, seeing the girl sitting in Liam's car waiting patiently.
Shrugging, he sent you what you were sure he thought was a charming smile, "What about her? I'll see you later."
Barely able to look at him anymore, you slammed the door shut and locked it, thankful that everyone had finally left.
Tumblr media
Doing drugs on the same day you had an NA meeting definitely wasn't one of your smartest decisions, but you could barely bring yourself to give a shit.
Rue led across your bed, her feet swinging off the edge as she babbled away about her reunion with Jules. You were happy -- really, you were -- but their relationship gave you more of a headache than your friendship with Fez, and even being high didn't soothe the tension in your head.
"I need money." You interrupted, causing Rue to stutter over her last words.
Sitting up, she raised an eyebrow, "For what?"
"This place... Shit like that. It's not like Dad was rolling in it, and if I can't pay the bills then I'm fucked." It wasn't **technically** a lie. You should probably pay the bills... But you needed money for your new, nasty little habit, and although Rue had snorted Faye's heroin with you, you didn't want her to know you'd fallen down that hill.
"I mean, Laurie had like a shit ton of drugs at her place. Maybe you could see if she needs a runner?" Rue chuckled, finding herself funnier than she probably should've... But she had a point. One you couldn't ignore.
"Anyway," Rue waved her hand around, as if waving her previous thought away, "Heard there was a bitchin' party here on New Year's. One that I wasn't invited to..."
Sighing, you sent her a small smile, "I was with you for the majority of the night. Plus, I didn't exactly know it was happening... Wait, how did **you** know? Everyone was at Virgil's."
"I dunno, a little birdy told me?"
"Rue, c'mon. Have you and Fez been talking about me?"
Her mouth gaped as she tried to think of an excuse, but she was also just a little too high, "I mean, it's not like we're gossiping. He just mentioned the party and asked if I knew what had happened. It's not a big deal."
"Well, I'd prefer if you didn't mention me at all to him," your tone was sharp, causing the young girl to flinch ever-so-slightly, "Shit, I'm sorry I just... You know how he gets."
Nodding, Rue stood from your bed, "Yeah, totally. Consider it a no-go topic. Anyway, we need to head out. You alright to drive?"
Tumblr media
Your skin was so itchy, that you wanted to just peel it off. You'd been trying to concentrate at the meeting, at least as much as you usually did, but between the scratching and the hot flushes, you could barely keep your eyes open. So when the meeting was adjourned, the fact you hadn't raced up from your seat as usual concerned Ali.
"Everything alright over here?"
Your eyes rolled, knowing that this conversation was going to lead to a lecture. All you wanted was to head back home and get your next hit.
"I'm fine, Ali. I'm just... Not feeling well."
His dark eyes watched you for a second, full of concern, "It must be difficult with your current situation, but if you need anything, please don't hesitate to-"
"I don't need or want your help Ali. It's just a cold, I'll be fine."
Considering you didn't yet have the strength to stand up, the man made himself at home in the vacant chair next to you, "You're really not lookin' too good. Anyone I can call for you?"
"I came with Rue..."
Ali's brows furrowed as he watched you, knowing damn well that Rue had already left to meet Jules, "Do you think it's a good idea? You need support, and I'm not doubting for a second that you care about each other but... Is your friendship healthy right now? For either of you? I mean... If neither of you two did drugs, would you be friends? Do you have anything else in common?"
Pushing yourself up a little too quickly, you wobbled, grasping the chair in front of you, even though Ali's arm shot out, keeping you upright. Once your head had stopped spinning, you shoved his arm off you and wiped the sweat from your brow, "Just stop, Ali. Rue is the only person I have in my life that understands this shit."
Ignoring Ali's frown, you made your way toward the exit, praying you didn't stumble.
"When you're ready, just know I'll be here. More people care about you than you think."
Sitting in your car, you tried to calm your pounding heart as you listened to the radio. Ali's words were spinning around your head and you could feel the panic set in, regardless of how much you tried to force it down.
Maybe he was right. Maybe the only reason you and Rue had formed a close bond was that you were both abusing drugs. If Rue had always been sober, would she have even given you the time of day? Shit, you'd already dragged her back down to your level the night Jules had left and you were on the hunt for a high.
She'd been doing well, too, staying sober. And you'd fucked that up for her by enabling her drug use, despite knowing that she'd overdosed a couple of months before you'd met.
Slamming your hands against your steering wheel, you couldn't hold in your tears anymore, allowing them to freely flow as you sobbed.
You didn't want to have to let Rue go, but for her sake, you needed to, for her sake.

we took a hard left (but we're alright)
A missing scene from chapter 11 of cancel your reservations / no more hesitations, where Jet is reunited with part of his found family and Smellerbee learns about her best friend's new boyfriend.
read on ao3
"Bee? Someone's here to see you!"
Smellerbee looked up from her notebook and the summer homework she had for Science, frowning. Anita — her soon-to-be stepmom — knew the names of her friends, which meant whoever was at the door wasn't one of them. Who is it, then? She wondered. It was late enough that anyone visiting was weird.
She put aside her notebook and took out her earphones. They didn't work for playing music anymore, but helped at least muffle the noise around her and let her focus on her work. She opened her bedroom door; Anita stood outside in the hall.
"He asked for you. I don't know if you know him from school, or..."
He. That at least helped narrow it down, though not by much. Bee sighed. "Thanks, Anita." She squeezed past her, going toward the front door. Anita's footsteps were close behind her. Through the window, she could make out the bed of a pickup truck, but the dim light made it hard to distinguish a color. Don't get excited. Everyone and their mom drives a truck around here, she told herself, squashing down the ridiculous hope that had come up. If it was somebody from school, chances were it was their mom's, or dad's, truck.
She opened the door. For a second she didn't register who it was; when she did, her jaw dropped.
"Jet."
"Bee!" Jet smiled, the same crooked way he'd always done, and Smellerbee could have killed him.
Jet was still riding high on the feeling of being back here, having Zuko reunited with his uncle, and getting to see his family again. It hadn't crossed his mind, until Smellerbee answered the door and immediately leveled him with a ferocious glare, that maybe he should have called or something a little sooner. Possibly three days sooner.
"When did you get here?" Smellerbee demanded, pushing past Jet to get out on the trailer's small porch. The door shut loudly behind her.
"Today," he said, stepping out of her way. "What's going o—"
"It's been days since we heard from you! I had my mom call the hospital after you didn't get back with us, and they couldn't tell us anything except that you were gone. And you didn't answer your phone."
Jet winced. He'd been unable to find his phone at the cheap apartment he, Bee and Longshot had been less-than-legally renting, and had figured it would turn up somewhere in his truck. It hadn't. "I'm sorry."
"Do you have any idea how worried we were about you?"
"I didn't," he said. "Now I do."
"Well, what the hell else were you thinking about?"
Jet had a choice here. He could tell her what he'd been thinking about, that he'd been selfishly thinking about turning around and going back to the shitty apartment, about staying in Washington, until he'd seen Zuko standing there by the road. That, for a moment, it had seemed possible — easy, even — to make a new life somewhere nobody knew him, nobody depended on him, and the excitement he had felt at the prospect terrified him now.
Or he could keep his mouth shut, shrug, and say none of that, because that would only make her more upset, and the thought of delivering a blow like that felt like someone dropping a brick from ten stories up into his stomach. He hadn't been thinking about her and the other kids, when he'd considered staying away, but that was the problem, wasn't it? The last thing she needed was being forgotten and abandoned, even if that wasn't how he meant it.
"I guess I wasn't thinking," he said, which was close enough to the truth for now. The heavy stuff could wait.
"God, you're such an asshole," she said, throwing her arms around him. He instinctively returned the hug, feeling the tension ooze out of her bony frame.
"I'm sorry," he said, burying his face in her shaggy hair. "You can still be mad at me if you want."
"Don't give me that permission," she grumbled against his chest. "I'll hurt you."
"Understood," he chuckled. He stepped back. "Am I allowed to come in?"
Bee sniffled, rubbing her eyes with a glare that dared him to say anything about it, and nodded. She pulled open the door.
"Anita! Jet's coming in for a while!" she shouted.
Anita. The name was familiar from dozens of phone calls, and the description he remembered matched the tall, dark-skinned woman who'd answered the door. "That's your —"
"Mom's fiancée," Smellerbee said. "They're getting married in winter."
"Huh." Jet tried to decipher Bee's attitude. "You like her?"
Bee shrugged. "She doesn't bitch about me wearing boys' clothes or too much makeup," she said, shoulders hunched. Jet guessed that was the closest thing to a 'yeah' he was going to get.
"Well, that's good." He ruffled her hair. "Come on, it's too hot out here."
"Syd and Cameron are at the house this week," Bee told Jet, handing him a cup of iced tea. He sat in the rocker next to the couch, his tattered tank top and cutoffs looking out of place with the old-fashioned carved wood and plaid cushions. He gave a hum of indifference as he sipped the tea through the straw.
"Were they disappointed to hear I made it?" he asked, putting the cup down. Smellerbee frowned.
"Syd didn't really say anything when I told her what all had happened. Just hung up the phone. I guess she'd probably already got a call, being your guardian 'n all that."
"Some guardian," Jet muttered. He sighed, rocking the chair a couple times while he sipped, ice cubes clinking in the glass. "Guess I'm sleepin' in the truck bed again. You know how many bug bites I got over he last couple days?" He held out his arm, where red bumps covered his wrist. "Total nightmare. It's just a good thing it didn't rain overnight."
"Your piece of junk truck made it over all the state lines again?" Smellerbee asked with wonder.
"Yep. She's stronger than my ribs, you know," he said, and Bee couldn't help flinching. His amused look faded, guilt replacing it. "Sorry. I'm working on not doing that."
"You wouldn't be you if you weren't making people uncomfortable," she said, taking a long drink of her tea. "Other than the bugs, how was the drive?"
Jet held his cup with both hands, looking down into it. "Pretty good," he said, ducking his head, not enough to hide the red creeping up his neck. His voice was a couple octaves higher than usual, and he quickly cleared his throat. "I mean, it was fine. You know."
Bee stared at him, before getting up on her knees and shoving his shoulder. "Don't tell me you went and got a girlfriend!"
"Ow!" he exclaimed, rubbing his shoulder, and rebalancing his drink to keep it from spilling. "Fine! I don't have a girlfriend!"
It was too genuine to be a lie, but that blush hadn't faded. Smellerbee scoffed. "What happened, you hook up with some guy at a truck stop?"
"No! Jeez." He rolled his eyes. "He needed a ride home, so I let him tag along. We got along pretty well, so..."
"Oh my god. You picked up some random guy and, what, wined him and dined him in the back of your shitty truck?" she asked, laughing.
"This is why I don't tell you things, you know that, right?" Jet said, deadpan. Bee shook her head, still in disbelief.
"I thought you had standards, man."
"I do."
"It's been a total of, what, a whole week since you left Washington —"
"Three days."
"And you found your true love at some truck stop —"
"It was a quarter mile from a bus stop, get your facts straight —"
"And in that time you've gone and fallen in love with this random stranger." Bee stared at him. "Do you even know where he lives?"
"Next county over with his uncle. He knows Jin," Jet said, with a raised eyebrow like he dared her to argue with that point. What are even the odds of that? she wondered in bewilderment.
"Fine. Fine," she said, raising her hands in surrender. "I'm sure you and the weirdo who somehow fell for you after spending time inside your truck will be perfectly happy together."
Jet shoved her shoulder, but smiled a little. "His name's Zuko," he said, with the sappy look she'd been used to seeing in association with Jin's name; then Haru's; then Katara's.
Oh brother. He's in deep, isn't he?
"Zuko like the guy from that crappy '70s movie?" she asked, wrinkling her nose. Jet rolled his eyes.
"No, not Zuko like the guy from Grease. You think I'd date a tool like that?" he asked, leaning back in his seat and chewing on the end of his straw; he looked off at the other side of the room, his expression suddenly a million miles away. "He's...he's like me, you know? He knows what it's like to do shit you regret and to run away from it. And...you can't, you have to come back and face it. I think I need someone like that."
Smellerbee watched Jet, quiet. He didn't really talk about his feelings a whole lot, but when he did, it was hard not to listen. She sighed.
"Okay," she said. "I wanna meet him, though, so I'm reserving judgement until then. And I will put the fear of death in him if he so much as looks at you wrong," she warned. Jet cracked a wide grin, ruffling her hair.
"I missed ya," he said.
"Oh, cut it out," she huffed, pushing his hand away with a fond glare. She got up, grabbing his empty cup. "Come on, Anita made cookies this morning, let's see if she'll let us have some."
Jet smiled and got up, tucking her under his arm as she led him to the kitchen. She wrapped her arms around him, breathing in the dry-grass and gasoline smell of his clothes.
It was good to have him back.

"We're here safe."
You breathed a sigh of relief, "Jax just texted, they've landed and are in Belfast without any trouble."
Ima put her hand over her heart, "thank God, I'll check my phone, Sam would have texted." Sure enough, there was a short text from Sam.
"How's your tattoo healing?"
She flashed you her arm, "sore but nothing I haven't been through before, Sam still keeps asking to see it."
You laughed, "Jax was the same, it was like trying to keep a little kid away from his birthday presents."
She giggled, "I'm kinda glad he's not here, I got sick of telling him that he couldn't look at it."
You shook your head, "you wanna come with me to get Kip out of the hospital? They're only keeping him there for the insurance."
She nodded and grabbed her keys, "I'll drive." She put the local radio station on for the ride. As you were about to comment on one of the stories, another came on.
"This just in, Jacob Hale has launched his bid for mayor against the town favourite Elliot Oswald."
Ima blinked in shock, "did I just hear that right?" You turned the radio up and waited for the presenter to continue, "he's running on the basis of small business first and is looking to bring Charming into the luxury housing market."
"You did. I don't know if he knows this but the whole town hates him."
She turned into St Thomas' parking lot, "his rich developer friends don't."
"Hey Kip, we're breaking you out of here."
He smiled, "thank God, this place is driving me insane." You helped him up while Ima went to get some help and an hour later you were driving him back to T-M after dropping Kip home.
****
"So who's been left behind?"
You had dropped Ima at work on the way so it was just you, "Tig, Piney and Kozik, all the others are in Belfast."
He nodded, "do you know if they've found Jimmy yet?"
You shook your head, "all Jax told me was that they were there safe, I don't know anything after that. He said he called once they were settled. I need to go get my stitches out but I'll be back afterwards and we'll talk more then."
You were just getting done with the doctor when Jax called, "hey Darlin."
Something was wrong, "You can't hide shit from me Teller, what happened?"
Jax laughed, "we almost got sent back home by a group of dirty cops."
"Jimmy?"
He made an affirmative grunt, "can I ask you a question?"
His tone was unsure, there was more than just one thing wrong, "sure my love, is something on your mind?"
You heard him inhale, "could you tell if I was related to someone by just a photo?"
You blinked, "if they were a very close relative maybe, but do Sam and I look like siblings?"
There was an exhale, "not even a little, can I send you those photos anyway?"
"Well you keep telling me so it must be true." The photos came through soon after, with a short text from Jax.
"Sure beloved, get a few from different angles and maybe give me some more context than just that you think you've got a cousin you didn't know about."
He laughed, "done. You're great, did you know that?"
"Her name is Trinity, she looks like dad and she's twenty-two, with the way her mother Maureen and Gemma were talking, I think something's up. He was over there a lot when Maureen would have been pregnant."
You looked over the photos, there was no doubt in your mind that this woman was Jax's half-sister. Of course you called him, "hey." He knew by your tone what you were going to say, "I'm really sorry beloved."
"Are you sure?"
He sounded very upset, "sure enough to tell you to start digging." There was a laboured breath across the line, "you know you're mum, she would know if John was stepping out on her. Start there, then ask Maureen. I think talking to Trinity outright might not get you anywhere because they would have kept this whole thing under wraps."
You could hear him moving around like an anxious animal, "what do I do?"
You took a deep breath, "I know this must feel like a terrible betrayal from your father but if it's true, you've gained a little sister. It's no comfort but there might be a whole another person who's in your corner and that's a good thing."
"I love you too."
There was a soft chuckle, "you always know what to say."
Before you could reply, you heard someone yell his name, "got to go Darlin, I love you."
Jax walked out of the bedroom to the table full, "sit down son, we've got a lot to talk about."
Jax sat at the table, full of the Belfast charter, "Jimmy'o is in the wind, the Irish kings are ready to give the green light but we need to find him first."
Jax shook his head, "why do we have to deal with this? How can we even trust you, O'Neil was on the phone with him telling us lies."
The room was getting icier, "I had no idea that Cammy was here, that lie is on Jimmy."
Jax sucked on his tongue, "sure. No one answered my question, why does this fall on us?"
McGee seemed annoyed, "we're too close to this, Belfast is still a war zone. If we kill Jimmy, our whole chapter will be dead within the month."
Jax threw his hands up in the air, "so what, we find him, question him then do him?"
McGee gave an affirmative grunt, "that's the plan." The table went from there, talking about their operation and then the priest was brought up Kellan Ashby.
If the room was icy before, it was like the arctic right now. "That won't be necessary Sam, we'll talk to this priest and go from there." Clay took in Sam's cold expression, he had no doubt in his mind Sam was telling the truth.
"He'll know more, the kings take his word as gospel."
Sam had sat there silent the whole time, when he spoke, his voice was short, bordering on frightening. "So Jimmy tries to steal the guns out of under this charter, he's on the run and you want us to talk with a priest. Why aren't the kings who missed his bullshit here talking to us? It's their problem. Hell, you say the word and I'll have my guys do him in and we won't have to get our hands dirty."
****
The yelling got worse, "will you two shut the fuck up and get back to work. For shit's sake guys, some of us are trying to pick up the slack, it would be good if you could help out." Tig walked back into the garage shaking his head and Kozik was too scared to meet your eye.
"What the fuck is wrong with the two of them?"
Chucky shrugged, "judging by the level of animosity, there's got to be at least on vagina involved."
You chuckled, "very shrewd Chucky, very shrewd."
"Thank you."
You turned to Chucky, "I'll check the dorm to see if the receivables are there, we're in for a long day Chuck." You were walking out of the Clubhouse when Lyla drove up.
"Hello, what brings you by?"
She smiled softly, "I thought we could all put on dinner while the guys are away, just us girls and the kids?"
You nodded, "great idea, my place?"
You both sat on the picnic bench, "yep. Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure."
She seemed worried, "what going to happen when they guys go inside?"
You shrugged, "I have no idea, Opie will be here so you won't be alone but I think it's all going to pan out in the end. What's got you so worried?"
"Opie been talking about kids and getting married."
You nodded, "and you don't want another kid with a man who could get his brains blown out and leave you with four children to look after on your own?"
"Thanks. I guess we've got a dinner to plan." You nodded and was gone.
She breathed out a breath she didn't know she was holding, "yep."
You put a hand on hers, "talk to him, say just that and if he doesn't understand that then he's not the person for you. He's a good man Lyla, he's just got a lot of shit he needs to work through. All you can do is be honest with him."
You were about to head to the store when Darby showed up, "what the fuck do you want?"
He raised his hands, "I just want to talk."
Upon seeing him, Tig and Kozik walk up, "about?"
You jutted your hand out, "no Tig. I don't give a shit what he want. I want myself a Nazi scalp to hang on my wall, you want it to be yours?"
Darby swallowed, "it's about Jacob Hale."
You huffed, "fine, but if it involves you, I imagine it's criminal, we should get Unser or his brother here." To your surprise, there was no dissent.
Hale was there far quicker than you thought he'd be, "what did my brother do this time?"
You rubbed your face, "I don't know, ask the Nazi scum currently wasting my air."
Hale smiled gently, "please y/n can you cool it for just a little while and hear him out."
You threw your hands up in the air, "he has five minutes and if he's wasted my time, I'll shoot one of his knee caps off."
Tig hid a laugh, "done." You all sat down. Darby's eyes never left your hands, he was clearly terrified of you.
"Your brother just handed me an envelope of cash and asked him to get rid of Lumpy so he could buy the building."
You shook your head, "well I just won a bet." Tig looked confused, "I bet Jax that Hale would try something else and I was right. We can't do anything until we know the full story. What exactly did he say to you?"
"That his investor friends needs the lot and Lumpy was the last one holding out, he wanted me to get rid of him."
David was getting angrier and angrier, "did he say the cash was for getting rid of Lumpy?"
He shook his head, "no, he said it was a small business loan."
"Ok, no one is going to do anything." You pointed to Hale, "we can't do anything until we know all the facts, no one's going to say anything and Mr Darby is going to act like he's going to go along with it. You're going to warn Lumpy and then you're going to press Hale for more information and we'll go from there. If we want to get anywhere, we need dirt on this investor as well."
The table was quiet, "fine, but don't expect him to tell me anything."
You were getting sick of his voice, "I don't know why you're here, whether the fire that burnt you got you a little too close to hell and you want to make amends but I don't care, you'll get that information if you have to lie and cheat to get it."
He took a deep breath, "I know why you hate me, you have every right to but I'm trying to change, I'm trying to do the right thing."
You shook your head, "you are incapable of doing the right thing. Is there a reason you've had a come of Jesus moment or is this just a rat jumping off a sinking ship?"
Another deep breath, "when I was in the hospital one of my workers came to see me every day. She had no reason to, considering she knew what I was but she still showed up."
He went to continue but you cut him off, "so you love her like a monster loves a songbird, not for what she is but for what she did for you and you think that makes you worthy of redemption. Come back when you've actually done something."
****
Hale's eyebrows went up, "call me when you have more information."
He and Darby left, leaving you to continue planning with Tig and Kozik, "that was really scary."
You patted him on the shoulder, "thanks Herman."
"Jimmy doesn't tell me anything anymore, I have no idea why he lied."
Chibs was had his hand on Fiona's back, while the other listened to her. "Do you at least know what he's been up to since he got back?"
They were being rushed off soon after but with some pushing from the guys, they managed to get a ride with Chibs' family back to the church.
She huffed, "recruiting, he's at his bar pretty much every day and night."
Jax nodded, "what about O'Neil, is he on Jimmy's payroll?"
She shook her head, "not that I know of."
****
"Hey y/n."
You walked into the office, "yeah."
Tig smiled and put the phone down, "that was Darby, Lumpy knows Hale's gunning for him, he's closing up for a few days just to be safe.
****
You nodded, "ha, he came through. I'm still waiting on word from my guy about Hale's friends." You took a deep breath, "this guy can't become mayor Tiggy, he will ruin this town before his term is over and we will never recover."
He nodded, "I know, we'll fix it."
"All the way down here, I was holding onto hope that you were wrong about Trinity but one look."
Maureen nodded, "she's got his eyes and his smile."
Gemma looked down at the table, "did he know?"
She nodded, "yes."
"Jesus Christ."
Maureen crossed her arms, "I was eighteen, I didn't know what I was doing, neither did he. Look I have no delusion about you me and being friends. I just think a lot of hate right now is no good for anybody. This shit between us, it needs to stay buried."
"Too late."
Jax rounded the corner, his posture stiff, "how long have you been standing there?"
He shrugged, "long enough."
There was a cold chill to the air, "I can explain."
He waved his hand, "don't mum. Does Trinity know?"
Maureen shook her head, "no, she doesn't. She thinks her father died in Lebanon."
Jax huffed, "who else knows?"
Maureen got stiff, "just my brother, he won't tell a soul."
He shook his head, "tell her by the time we leave or I will." Jax walked away in a rage, leaving Gemma and Maureen to deal with the fallout.
Jax felt angry more than lost, his mother knew his father was cheating on him and kept it a secret. He was a little hurt, Gemma told him everything, he couldn't understand why she kept something so huge from him.
"He reminds me of John."
Gemma huffed, "I know."
"Hey darlin."
Jax knew you would know what to say, "hey my love, I'm guessing by the way you sound you know for sure?"
He took a deep breath, "yeah, mum knew and she never said anything. I've told them if they don't tell Trinity by the time we leave, I'll tell her. I know it's not my place but she should know the truth."
"You are very noble Jackson, it's admirable."
His breath stuttered, "so you think I did the right thing?"
His voice was cracking, "yes Jax, I do. I still can't imagine how hard this must be for you, finding out your dad wasn't the person you thought you knew."
"Why didn't Gemma tell me? She kept my sister from me."
You could hear he was on the verge of tears, "when you were little, who was your hero?"
You knew the answer, "my dad."
Jax smiled, "she didn't want that to change Jax, she wanted you to remember your father as the man you thought he was not who she knew him as. You have every right to be angry but she was trying to spare you more pain."
"I would be lost without you."
You chuckled, "nah, you'd be fine."
You could almost hear him shaking his head, "nope, I'd be lost and so would everyone else. How are things over there?"
"I won our bet. Hale is trying to get Lumpy to give up his gym so he can buy the space."
Jax huffed, "what are your winnings going to be?"
You smiled, "well since you never got to attend one of my practical lectures, I'd like to tie you up. With your consent of course."
He chuckled, "whatever you want Darlin."
"Oh, he's great. His face has started to develop but his back teeth have only just started to come in so he looks like an old man without his dentures in and it makes me want to squish his little face. He's also taken to putting everything in his mouth and he's too young to understand what's food and what isn't so I have to watch him like a halk."
"Yay, I'm going to have so much…." You trailed off, "what is it?"
There was an unhappy noise coming from you, "Kip just walked into T-M after I told him to stay home and rest, I'm going to kill him."
Jax knew that tone, Half Sack was in for a mum lecture, "before you kill the guy, how's Abel?"
Jax was smiling ear to ear, "he also likes it when the dogs' tails hit him, which is really weird but I can't be bothered to step in because of his little baby giggle. He's a weird baby."
Jax laughed, "that's your fault for talking to him about science hippy stuff and not trucks and Harleys."
You giggled, "hey, I talk to him about bikes, so does Sam, he's just more interested in the history of sales tax. Don't think I don't know what you're doing, you're trying to make me all happy before I talk to kip so I don't kill him."
"Well I value your assessment. I'll let you go yell at Half Sack now. I love you Darlin."
Jax laughed, "you don't miss a thing, what do you think about the new prospects?"
There was a pause, "Phill is great, Miles is enthusiastic and friendly but Shepard won't last a month, he's a bit too flightly and he's got his head in the cloud and not in a good way."
****
"Love you too Jax." You put the phone down, stood up and walked over to the picnic tables. "What are you doing here young man?"
His eyes went wide, "I thought I told you to go home and rest." He looked over at the guys, "send him home now or I'll do it. I have shit to do, call me if anything comes up." You left soon after to start prep for the dinner you and the other women were putting on.
"How long are you gonna stay with the priest?"
Fionna huffed, "not sure."
Chibs was anxious, "listen, there's plenty of room on Russo's plane so you're coming back with us."
'I don't want to leave Ireland."
Chibs shook his head, "sweetheart, it's not for long, just until all this blows over."
The tires screeched as the van came to a stop, "what's he doing?"
"GET DOWN!" Sam threw himself on top of one of the girls, Jax diving down seconds after him as bullets hit the car. It didn't last long, maybe thirty seconds before the car drove off, "what the fuck was that, is everyone ok?"
They looked around, "yeah I think so."
An hour later, they were all at the table, "are the girls safe?"
Chibs nodded, "yeah, they're fine."
The mistrust between SAMBEL and SAMCRO was growing, "do you have any idea who the shooters are?"
Opie sounded like he had his suspicions, "it had to be Jimmy."
"No, it was the UVF. They're radical loyalists, this would have been about Fionna."
Jax shook his head, "so they gunned down women and children?"
O'Neil shook his head, "if they wanted to kill you, you'd be dead. Trust me on that, brother." No one believed the bullshit for a second but there was no way they could talk about that here, it seemed more and more that the whole charter was on Jimmy's payroll.
They parted soon after, with the SAMCRO guys back to the inn while the others went back to the Clubhouse. The conversation went around in circles about the plan, they had to get Jimmy back to the States without creating more problems but with how deep SAMBEL was it was looking less and less possible.
Sam nodded, "you are trust me. I don't know how much she's told you about our home life, but if we had a half-sibling around, we'd want to have a relationship with them. We're pretty sure we do but our father isn't going to tell us unless he needs something from us." Jax swallowed, you barely told him anything.
Sam had pulled Jax aside just as Clay went off about Mcgee, "you wanna tell me what's going on with your half-sister?" Jax's eyes went wide, "y/n didn't say anything, you don't think I've picked up some of her skills over the years?"
Jax smiled softly, "I have no idea what to do, your sister says I'm doing the right thing in forcing them to come clean."
"I'm really sorry you two went through that."
Sam shrugged, "ehh, it's ok. We don't have contact with the man and as far as my sister's concerned, he's dead, I'm sure you'll get to meet him one day when he needs someone to bail him out, or give him a chunk of liver."
****
Jax huffed, "he better hope not."
Sam put a hand on his shoulder, "come on, we could use your input on the plan for the gun run."
"This better be good Tiggy, Abel's just discovered to joy of jello and I don't want to miss the mess he's going to make."
Tig laughed, "Darby's back, he got more info from Hale." Tig sounded optimistic, "Hale's buddy works for a company out of LA that builds huge developments, we're talking whole suburbs. He wants those shops to make a new mall."
"Ok great, I'll pass the guy's name onto my guy and we'll go from there. Did Darby say if Hale bought it?"
Tig huffed, "hook, line and sinker, he has no idea we're working an angle."
You breathed a sigh of relief, "we're on the right track. Gives the guys a few days to settle in when they get home then we'll download them. I'll call the moment my guy gets back to me."
"Was that Tig?"
You nodded, "yeah, things are moving along with Hale. You good with finishing the cheesecake from tomorrow?"
Ima nodded, "yeah, Luanne said she'll be here at four to help out and Lyla's bringing the kids."
"Alright, I imagine Sam and Jax will be calling soon, I'll feed Abel while you have a shower, then I'll get dinner on. I'm going back to work tomorrow but I'll be home early."
She leaned on the benchtop, "is this ever going to slow down?"
You shrugged "yeah, eventuallty. They guys will be home in a few days, then we have a month or two before they have to go inside. Things will ease up."
****
She looked upset, "you doing ok?"
She shook her head, "I miss your brother."
You nodded "I know, I miss him too. They'll be ok."
Jax was bored out of his brains, usually at this time he would be sitting down for dinner you Sam, Ima, Abel and you, talking about how everyone's day went. But he was sitting at the picnic tables in the SAMBEL compound staring at the night sky with nothing to do but wait until the run tomorrow. He had a quick conversation with you and Abel a little while ago but it was too early in the morning to call you now.
"Hey man."
Sam and Opie sat down next to him, "you look deep in thought."
Jax shrugged, "there's nothing to do here but wait, it's killing me."
Sam huffed, "been there down that, I've lost count of how much time I've spent waiting around with my dick in my hand while the brass holds meetings. We could play cards, or lift weights, or eat, eating's good."
Opie chuckled, "you don't really need to lift anymore weights Sam."
Jax's chest got warm, "that's really sweet." It was tinged with sadness, he loved both of you, Sam treated him like a brother but sometimes seeing you two together made him long for Thomas.
"You can never be too strong, I can do a two-fingered pushup, can you?"
Jax shook his head, "your sister's humility hasn't rubbed off on you."
Sam huffed, "she's the reason I started lifting. When we were teenagers, she worked two minimum wage jobs and was doing three PhDs so she was always tired. We lived in a one bedroom apartment and she would sleep on the couch so I would have the bed. She used to fall asleep all over the place so I started lifting so I could carry her to bed."
"I mean it when I say this but what's mine is yours. We can share Sam, no charge."
Jax knew without a doubt he was going to marry you, there were days when it was the only thing that kept him going. He knew he was going to get the Club out of guns and he knew you would stick by to help, he just hoped with all his heart that you didn't come to your senses and leave him before then.
"I beat, I'm heading to bed." Opie left leaving Sam and Jax alone
"I know I'm not as smart as my sister but I'm pretty close and I know you well, you want to let me know why you're so lost in your head?"
Jax was too overwhelmed to contemplate what that meant.
Jax shrugged, "I waiting for the day your sister sees the light and leaves me."
Sam shook his head, "she loves you Jax and she's going to be with you through thick and thin. She wouldn't have done all the stuff she has if she had any doubts. My biggest worry is that the more you know about her the more you're going to be the one to run."
****
"This is going to sound weird, but do you have a bad feeling?"
You looked at Ima like she had three heads, "I woke up feeling like someone was sitting on my chest. I'm putting it down to stress and worry and not that horrible six sense that some people get before shit hits the fan."
She nodded, "we have the dinner tonight, we can focus on that."
"Yeah, I guess. When will you be home?"
You shrugged, "about two, it's a light day today but I'll be back to full duty tomorrow."
You left for work soon after and arrived to the whole lab busy, "what do we have?"
"Great, I'll start with the worst bodies and go from there."
"Building fire in Oakland, we've got six bodies on the deck."
You threw your hands up, "since when did we start getting fire IDs?"
Holt rubbed his face, "since last month, I've managed to hold them off but this looks like arson so we're stuck."
Two pm arrived before you knew it, only half the bodies were identified before you left, "I'll be back early tomorrow morning, call me if something comes up, please."
Holt nodded, "will do, get home safe."
Ima was already cooking when you got home, "Lyla will be here soon, I sent her out to get more milk and Luanne is going to be on time, the thing with CaraCara sorted itself out."
You nodded, "great, I think I might stop by and see Otto, I've got a whole lot of stuff to give him. I won't be long, I should be home by five."
****
"Good idea, I'm sure he'll be happy to see a friendly face. And Luanne will be grateful that you're still going to see him. Why don't you take Abel?"
You nodded, "great idea."
"Hey sweetie, how have you been?" Otto smiled, "you know, alone for the last two months."
You huffed and covered Abel's ears, "you did stick a bit of sharped bedpost in a Nazi's ear. He deserved it but murder is wrong and all."
He chuckled, "he's grown."
Abel was babbling and reaching his fat little hands out, "I know, you wanna hold him?"
Otto's arms went towards you before you could finish your sentence, "is he old enough to be eating solid food?"
You nodded, "yes, his favourite is his carrot and roast beef for dinner and strawberry yogurt for dessert."
Otto smiled, "you know, Luanne and I never wanted kids, but sometimes I think it would have been nice."
"You would have made good parents."
His eyes fell to the table, "I'm here for life now, I've had a lot of time to think." His gaze moved to the basket of food, "what have you brought me today?"
"Well get used to it, I'll be coming for as long as you want me."
"Lots of food, and books on tape. I bought The Wild West, how wine, women and song build America. The Truth About Modern Medicine and Ancient Food, Delicious or Deady."
His mouth was full of food, "thank you for everything, I think without your visits, I would have gone crazy long ago."
Jax called you just as you were leaving the prison, "hey Darlin."
He sounded tired, "hello my love, how are you?"
You could hear people talking and moving in the background, "good, we're getting closer to finding Jimmy. How are things there?"
"Good, we're having dinner with all the women tonight, I mean the kid will be there but other than that, it's just us girls."
Jax laughed, "are you meaning to tell me your forming a coven."
You giggled, "yep, watch out Mr Teller, one wrong step and I'll make sure all your hair falls out."
"Oh I'm terrified, how was work?"
Jax knew that groan, "how do you think, we're now helping with Arson investigations." The noise on the background was growing, "is everything ok over there?"
There was a pause while Jax spoke to someone else, "everything's in fine, some priest said that this is all about Jimmy wanting to take our business and sell it to the Russians but we still can't find the guy. The guys are just loading the guns now from the protection run we're helping with.
BANG
"Shit, do you want me to get some of my guys on it?"
You could hear the smile in Jax's voice, "nah Darlin, you've got to let me be a least a little usefu….."
The line went dead, you tried calling back, more than once but there was nothing. All you could do was drive home and go about your day, you'd let the other women know after dinner what had happened, they deserved some peace.
****
'What's wrong?"
You shook your head, "nothing, it's just been a long day. Is the bread ready for the oven?"
Lyla nodded, "yeah, go for it." You did your best to keep it together as the women arrived and put dinner on. You forced yourself to eat through nausea and worry, hoping desperately that Jax or Sam would call soon.
"When I was on the phone to Jax today the last thing I heard was what I think was a bomb go off, the line went dead and Jax hasn't gotten back to me." Someone swallowed, "there was no point in bringing it up, what can we do from here. You're all more than welcome to stay here until someone calls."
"Have you heard from Jax today?"
You nodded, "yeah, he seemed pretty busy. They're no closer to fixing what they're over there to fix."
Ima seemed worried, "really because I'm sure there's something you're not telling us, you keep going to get your phone out." you looked around at the women, there's was no point in keeping it from them now that dinner was over.
Everyone waited anxiously, the conversation would go from mundane nothing to fear filled speculation over and over again, then Ima got a call, "it's Sam." She answered the phone and put it down on the table on speaker, "y/n said she heard an explosion when she was talking to Jax, is everyone ok?"
"What? We're all fine, I'm sure Jax thought he hung up before it happened, none of our guys are hurt more than a few scrapes and bruises. How are things there?"
The conservation was short, Sam didn't have much to tell everyone before he asked if he could talk to Ima in private. Soon enough, you think because Sam told Jax, he was calling you. "I'm so sorry Darlin, I thought I hung up before it went off."
"It's fine Jax, I was so worried about you. Sam said everyone was ok."
He sounded even more tired than this afternoon, "yeah, we're all doing ok. But we know for sure that SAMBEL's been comprised, we're looking for O'Neil now. We think he's the one who set it off."
"Shit Jax, is Mcgee involved?"
Jax sighed, "we think so but we can't know for sure until we find O'Neil."
You shook your head, "that's not good Jax, he's first nine. If he's in bed with Jimmy you'll never get to him."
Jax huffed, "I know, that's part of the reason I'm calling. We think he's going to use the Russian Mafia to get him out of Ireland, do you think you can get us some info on the players in Northern Cali?"
"I'll call Penelope now. Please be careful Jackson, I don't know what I'd do if anything happened to you."
Jax chuckled, "nothing's going to happen to me. I'll be home before you know it. How did dinner go?"
You smiled, "good, until everyone found out you got yourself blown up. I saw Otto today, I took Abel with me and everything. He seems to be settling into his new reality ok but I promised I go back and see him as often as I could."
****
"You're a saint. I've got to go but I'll try and call again before you fall asleep."
You breathed a sigh of relief, "I'm just glad you're ok. Happy hunting."
Mcgee burst into the room, "because my boys are loyal to the MC. You're right about O'Neil, the Irish became more important than the patch." It went back and forth for a while, the voices becoming more and more raised. They finally got the location of a warehouse then left in a rush of leather and gasoline.
"O'Niel's an officer, if we point the finger at him, we might as well condemn the whole charter."
Clay shook his head, "maybe it's time we start looking at that. How do we know Jimmy didn't turn others?"
They searched in groups until they found him riding his bike away from the scene, Jax didn't hesitate in clotheslining him off it. "Call Sean Casey, we've got a confession to record." They dragged him inside the building with Mcgee following close behind.
"Who ordered the hit?" The confession didn't take long, it being Jimmy wasn't a surprise to anyone but the fact that he confirmed Mcgee was dirty was a surprise. His guys raced after him while Jax offed O'Neil, before they could do any more, Jimmy's men, or boys as it were, turned up.
They strung him up on what looked like a meat hook while Casey readied his tools. "I need you to tell me who ordered you to blow up that truck, Liam?"
O'Neil sounded scared, "I didn't blow it up." They cringed as Casey sliced his skin, O'Neil's screams turning blood-curdling.
They ran up the ladder to the roof before setting the room alight, the fire spreading as Jimmy reached to roof. As if it couldn't get any worse, they got into a shoot out with Jimmy's crew while Mcgee ran in the other direction and in the confusion and the gunfire, Jimmy managed to get away.
Mcgee on the other hand, wasn't so lucky, they caught him on the roof trying to scale a ladder down to get away. The conversation between him and Clay was short, then Clay was removing his kutte and throwing him off the edge.
They went right to the Irish kings who were thankful but when it came to taking him out, they buttoned up. By the time they had left, Ryan was the new president and they were no closer to finding Jimmy.
When Jax walked toward his room, Trinity was sitting on the bed waiting for him. Her face was puffy and her eyes were red, she had been crying. "I'm sorry about Mcgee."
She shook her head, "thanks, ma told me about your da, our da, I guess."
Jax's heart jumped, "I'm sorry. I had no idea…"
Trinity was falling asleep against his shoulder by the time they were done talking, it must have been close to four in the morning when he sent her to bed. Even though Jax was exhausted, he called you just because he wanted to hear your voice.
She cut him off, "it's ok, you did the right thing forcing ma to tell me. I don't know where we got from here Jackson?"
He smiled softly, "well, what are you doing at college? I'd like to hear about that, hell, we can talk about whatever you want."
"Hey Darlin."
He could hear Holt in the background, "hello my love, it's very early over there, shouldn't you be in bed?"
Jax chuckled, "nah, I just got done talking with my sister."
He could almost hear your smile, "I'm really happy for you Jax, I told you it would all pan out in the end."
"Yeah, you did. She's a really nice girl, we're gonna try and stay in touch. How's work?"
You huffed, "I'm in the weeds right now and I'm never taking any time off again. It looks like one of us is going to have to be a forensic consultant for arson cases. Oswald smartly said one of the first things he's going to do as mayor is explained our fire department. I looked at the proposal, it's a good decision."
"You're not going to leave me for a firefighter are you?"
You giggled, "have you ever been inside a firehouse? Those places and dens of iniquity and sin. You any closer to Jimmy?"
Jax let out a grunt, "no, Mcgee and O'Neil were dirty, they're both dead."
He could hear more people in the background, "Belfast sounds like it's on its last legs, that really sucks."
"I'm just ready to get out of here."
An alarm went off in the background, "I get that, and as much as I'd love to talk until the wee small hours, a machine is yelling at me. I love you Jax."
"Love you too y/n."
You raced out of your office, "what do we have?" Jack shook his head "it was a professional job, this wasn't some accidental drug fire. Someone lit the place up and wanted it to burn."
You look over the papers, "I need to make some calls, this might have something to do with all of us."
You ran into your office and called Penelope, "hey, Garcia, Hale's developer, has he been connected to any building fires? Not just properties he owns but ones he was looking into buying?"
Her keys clacked, "yes, actually, four. Only ten deaths were reported including the fire you're working on but at least twenty people were injuired. I'll do some more digging and get back to you."
"Thanks, can you have all the paperwork faxed to Holt right now, he needs to see this."
More clacking, "done, talk soon."
"Oh Kozik, you're gonna want to hear what I just found out."
"Yeah, talk soon."
You called T-M right away, "Teller-Morrow, this is Herman, how can I help you."

Friday's Place
Bucky Barnes x Reader
mob au
Notes: Sorry for the delayed update. Had an awesome road trip with my dad all across Nevada and up Oregon to Washington. Saw lots of cool sights the best one being real live WILD HORSES in Northern Nevada. Check one item off of my bucket list.
WARNINGS: swearing, angst
Chapter 5
After Friday left the house Vis called Tony and told him about Brock's latest threats against her. When Tony's phone rang and he saw it was Bucky he chuckled as he answered. They agreed to meet the next day for breakfast.
When Bucky arrived at Tony's the next morning, he was already pacing a hole in the carpet. Tony looked up to greet him but Bucky spoke first.
"We have a problem Tony." Bucky started. "I spoke to Pierce last night and he won't back down. Said he would kill Friday himself if she didn't sell. I won't let that happen."
Tony ran his hand down his face. "Jesus, he wants a war." He sat down
"You're right, we can't let anything happen to her. I've only met her a couple of times but Pepper bonded with her because she used to be horsey too. They get together for brunch or lunch and go riding together. She's going to help us find a pony for Morgan and give her riding lessons. Pepper would kill me if I didn't do everything I can to keep her safe. Plus Friday is bff's with Visions wife, Wanda would be devastated if anything happened to her
So what's the play?"
Bucky thought for a minute "We need to upgrade her security but she will fight it if I'm the one suggesting it so you should talk to her. She doesn't like me much"
Tony laughed "I picked that up when she dressed you down at the hospital. I would not want to be on her bad side. What did you do? Forget to call her the next day?"
Bucky shook his head "Just expressed my interest in her after she saw me with Brock's investors at the city council meeting about his development. Apparently Brock has been hitting on her, telling Sharon that Friday was hitting on him so she has to deal with Sharon too."
"From what I've heard from Vis, Sharon and Friday have history."
Bucky looked surprised so Tony kept going. "Sharon never mentioned her when you were together?"
Bucky shrugged "Sharon is a vindictive bitch. It's tough trying to keep up with her enemies list. Besides, talking was never really our thing"
"Fair enough. I can talk to Friday and have Rhodey pick out a couple of trustworthy people on my security team." Tony paused, thinking, then snapped his fingers. "I'll send Carol, Maria and Val to take shifts and make sure she's covered at all times. They are three of my best and hopefully Friday will feel more comfortable with women."
Bucky nodded "Sounds good to me. I'll be doing my own surveillance and drive by her place a few times a day. Best if I stay out of sight. She really hates me and I don't know what I did."
Tony looked at him with wide eyes "Drive by? You must really like her. I haven't seen you like this about a woman since-"
Bucky gave him a dirty look "Don't be an ass Tony. I feel responsible for not reining Brock in sooner, that's all."
"Obviously not if you care about her hating you. I get it, it's rough, probably been awhile since anyone has turned you down, huh?" Tony could barely contain his laughter.
Bucky glared at him "What's the deal with her and Sharon? I know Peggy left Friday the stable but Sharon already has better horse facilities than most show stables. I should know, I paid for it all. Plus her family money. Doesn't make sense."
Tony shrugged "Like you said, Sharon is a vindictive bitch. Who knows what Friday did or didn't do to piss her off. Probably forgot to say bless you when she sneezed. How the Hell did you put up with that woman for 2 years?"
Bucky sighed "She got pregnant right after we got together. I tried to do the right thing. For Becca.
On that note. Can you get your security people with her asap? Now that I've talked to Pierce he might step up his plans. Especially if he thinks I care about her. He'll see that as a weakness he can exploit." Bucky insisted.
Tony nodded "I'll tell Vis. That way he and Wanda can talk to her." He pulled out his phone and quickly sent a text to Vision to let him know and ask him to talk to Friday.
Friday woke up to the phone ringing and felt like she had just fallen asleep. She couldn't calm her mind down.
The attacks were escalating and Brock sounded like he had plenty more planned. She was more worried about the kids and her horses. Friday had thought Brock wouldn't hurt kids but Wanda's accident, with her son's in the car, made her realize he really didn't care who he hurt.
When her phone rang at 6am she was laying in bed trying to wake up but it still made her jump. She looked at the phone like it was some alien object until she finally answered.
"Wanda? Is everything ok? Why are you calling so early? You're supposed to be resting. Please tell me nothing happened. I-"
"Friday, Friday, calm down. Nothing happened but Tony just called and told Vis that he wants to send some security to your place to keep Brock and his associates from causing any trouble. Nat and I are being assigned security details too. At least until this blows over"
Friday chuckled softly 'Wanda, you know this won't blow over until Brock and his boss are gone. Or we're gone.
Will they keep Barnes out? Because he's one of Brock's associates and he's definitely harassing me."
Wanda laughed "I'm sure you can ask them to keep him away but I don't think he wants to hurt you."
"Geez Wanda, I hope this security detail can be discreet. I don't want any of my riders or staff to be scared to be here."
"Maybe you should think about shutting down for a couple of weeks. Or at least until the next city council meeting" Wanda offered
Friday shook her head "Oh hell no. I'm not going to change my life and disrupt my students because of some mobsters who want my land. Fuck that!"
"What about the kids safety?"
"I doubt they will come in and gun us all down."
Wanda was getting frustrated "Maybe not but one of the kids could get hurt even if they come in and just hurt you. Please think about it."
"Yeah, sure I'll think about it" but they both knew she was just trying to placate Wanda. "I need to get up and feed the horses. I'll talk to you later."
A little while later, while Friday and Peter were feeding, 3 women in dark suits came up the driveway. Friday looked at Peter and he nodded so she went to see who they were while he kept a close eye.
"Can I help you?" Friday asked
"We're the security Tony Stark assigned to you. I'm Maria, this is Carol and Val." Friday nodded and Maria continued "We will be working in shifts so at least one of us will be with you at all times. We will be driving you anywhere you need to go in a bullet proof SUV that Mr Stark provided. We know that you work with a lot of kids and will do everything we can to be discreet and not scare anyone."
Friday smiled nervously "I'm Friday, nice to meet you all. You can make yourself at home. I have 2 guest rooms you can use.
Wearing some stable appropriate clothes would really help so you don't stick out."
Friday and her guards were able to find a rhythm and the week passed quietly. On Saturday, Friday woke up with butterflies in her stomach. This afternoon was Rebecca's group lesson and she didn't want to burst the peaceful bubble Friday was living in by dealing with her father. Except for daily visits to check on Wanda she had stayed home and carried on.
The morning went so quickly that Friday was shocked when Nat pulled up with Billy and Tommy to get ready for their lesson. She looked at her watch and it was almost 2. She had been sitting at her desk, daydreaming about stormy blue eyes for over and hour and forgot to eat her lunch that was now cold in front of her.
She stood up and went out to greet them.
"Hey Nat, How's everything? Don't you have students today?"
Nat smiled. "Everything's fine. I only have 2 on Saturday afternoons and was able to move them up to the older group for today. Vis said these creatures needed some fresh air so I volunteered to bring them over.
How are you?"
Friday shrugged "SSDD. Still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Glad the city council meeting is this week.
At least my security ladies are nice. I think Val could drink you under the table."
Nat raised an eyebrow. "That sounds like a challenge to me."
Friday laughed "you'll like them. We'll have to include them in our next girls night."
Nat raised an eyebrow at her but before she could speak a car pulled up and Friday jumped "Sorry, everything seems to surprise me lately. I better go see who it is. Can you take them back to the barn so Peter can help them get ready?"
Nat nodded and herded the boys to the barn.
Friday turned to face the newcomers and let out a breath that she didn't realize she was holding when she saw Scott and Cassie. "Hey Scott, Cassie. Hope y'all are having a good day. Head to the barn to get started."
Another car pulled up, a black SUV just like the one Tony had loaned her. Friday took a deep breath and squared her shoulders. She breathed a sigh of relief when Dot came out instead of Bucky. At least until she saw the scowl on her face.
"Hi Rebecca, head to the barn, check in with Peter and I'll be there in a few." When she was out of sight Friday went up to Dot. "Everything ok? Rough morning? I have coffee in my office if-"
Dot snarled "Don't you try to pretend we are friends or you care about me. I had a good thing going and you ruined it."
Friday looked at her confused "What the fuck are you talking about? What did I ruin?"
"Bucky damnit. We had something that could have been real and then he meets you and won't even touch me anymore." Dot snapped
"Who the Hell is Bucky?"
"Don't try to play dumb. James Bucky Barnes. Becca's dad. He's all hung up on you. Sits at his desk staring at some pictures he took of you. I had plans for him and now he wants nothing to do with me." Dot was almost crying
"Why would he end things with you after I've told him, repeatedly, that I'm not interested?" Friday wondered until she felt something hit her cheek and turn her head. She touched her face and looked at Dot with wide eyes, she slapped her!
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" Friday asked "It's not my fault Barnes got bored with you." She scoffed as Val came up and restrained Dot.
"You didn't think you were exclusive did you? He told me he has a number of girls and they all like it that way because his libido is too much for one."
Dot spat at Friday's feet. "Sharon was right. You are a jealous bitch."
"Sharon? What did she do now." Friday demanded
Dot laughed "Just told me about how you cheated to beat her in all those shows and always went after her boyfriends."
"What do you want me to do with her?" Val asked.
Friday sighed "She's here with one of my riders so just keep an eye on her."
She turned to Dot "Sharon is a manipulative liar and is probably using You to hurt me. It's kind of her thing. You shouldn't trust her.
You want to settle down, find a nice guy, not someone like Barnes, he's a dog."
Dot scoffed and Friday went to the barn to get the lesson started.
Thanks to Val keeping Dot in line and Peters help, Friday was able to get thru it. When she was in her office, making notes about the riders progress, Sharon showed up at her office door.
Friday gasped and schooled her features to hide her surprise and disgust "Sharon! What a 'ahem' lovely surprise. What brings you here this lovely evening" she asked with a broad smile that didn't reach her eyes.
Sharon simped "I heard you had more troubles and came as soon as I could to check on you." She grabbed Friday's chin and looked at the cut Dot left when she slapped her "Barnes really needs to keep his nanny in line" she smirked.
Friday chuckled "You worry too much about me Sharon, us cowgirls have to be tough, it's nothing."
"True, you've been through worse but maybe you should be more careful about the men you pursue, stay away from the ones who are already spoken for. You're lucky I'm more secure than some nanny or I might have gotten physical over you're obsession of Brock." She threatened.
Friday scoffed "I've never even entertained the thought of going after Brock, much less been obsessed with him and I've told Barnes repeatedly that I'm not interested so I don't know what his problem is."
"Oh my dear friend, you are so naive" Sharon tittered "You send all of the signals, in your desperation you must not even realize. It'll get you hurt real bad if you don't stop" she said menacingly.
Friday realized something and her eyes went wide "How did you know about Dot? It just happened and no one has come or gone since, what the hell are you up to now, Sharon? Did you-"
"Miss Friday, I gave Cookie an apple and she gave me kisses" Becca came running into the office.
"Becca, that's awesome. I told you she-"
"Mommy? Did you come to see me ride" Becca asked anxiously
Sharon snapped "Rebecca, what did I tell you about calling me that?"
Becca looked at her feet "Only call you mommy when we're alone. I'm so sorry Miss Sharon, I just got excited" she said sadly
Sharon smirked "That's better. You and Friday just can't control yourselves, can you. You better learn before you get yourselves into serious trouble."
Carol strode into the office "who's your friend?"
"Carol, this is Sharon we're old friends" Friday smiled nervously, not sure of what was happening "Sharon, this is Carol. She's uh-"
"One of Tony Starks security team. I know." Sharon interrupted "I hope she is enough to keep you safe. I'd hate to see anything happen to you." Sharon hugged her "Well, I have to go Brock is waiting. I just wanted to make sure you were ok. See you soon" and she left without a word to Becca.
Dot came looking in the office. "Becca! What are you doing in here with her? It's time to go" she grabbed Becca's arm and dragged her away.

Friday looked at Carol in confusion. "What the hell was all that?"

Twenty Two. Part 2
Tumblr media
Putting the phone down on my dad, no running to anyone now. Looking at North “my mom and your mom seem to be in deep conversation and your mom keeps giving you random mean looks, I will be more then happy to help you runaway” I laughed at North, she is my girl “I love you” smiling at her “I love you too, but like maybe you need to just take a step back from things. Like seriously just have a real conversation with your mom, and just say how you feel and if she doesn’t like it then she doesn’t, but you just talk, I mean come on. You and your mom do get on” nodding my head slowly “we do but she expects me to be the main person to you know, take care of the kids. Like Tianna fucked up but it’s my fault, you know. It’s just annoying but I may have two broken hands” I laughed holding my hands up “I think it’s just sore, you can use it but it’s like hard to move. Maybe get a scan, go to hospital. She is coming, oh my god” North moved back from me, my eyes bulged out not looking to the side of me, but she is right there next to me, so I have no choice but to look. Slowly looking up at my mom, oh she has hidden those hickeys now. She is pissed off with me, I sense the anger within her “least I know where I can always find you, North is never far from you. Get your bag, let’s go” nodding my head “hi miss Fenty” North said to my mom “North” getting up from the chair “so are you coming to school tomorrow?” She asked me “if I don’t then you know where I will be, buried in the back yard” North hugged me “she will be at school and on time” I pulled a face at my mom saying that as I turned around “thanks Auntie Kim” I mumbled walking out of the house, well this is the most awkward thing “I didn’t know Rylee was here” Saint said, looking at Saint “mhmmm” I said smiling “oh you are being escorted out, you are in trouble” boys are annoying as shit, stepping outside and seeing the SUV and Rich, oh this is going to be a long ride home for me, the silence too.
My mother silently bought me to the hospital, not even a word from her we are just sat here in silence as I just had a scan on my hand “I will be right with you with the results” sitting next to my mom silently, she isn’t even speaking to me, she knows everything but is not saying a word to me. The best I can do is just stay silent; my phone is pinging now actually. It’s snapchat, might be Sire. Reaching into my back, least I have one hand I can use. It is Sire, tapping on the notification as it unlocked. I let out the loudest gasp seeing his dick picture “oh my god, you girls” my mom said, I dropped my phone in fear “oh my god” she placed her head in her hands, oh this is all bad. Reaching down and picking my phone up, I think my mother is reaching breaking point, but I mean I didn’t think he would be sending that to me, I know he knows I am online but I said I would speak to him later when I can but clearly he meant he was horny, this is terrible and I am not happy with that either, I did say I was with my mom too which makes it all so worse then it is “we need a serious talk after this” my mom said “ok” I mumbled, I think I have overstressed my mother, she looks so stressed out and I think the nude topped it off which wasn’t supposed to be shown like that, it was all a mistake to open it up with my mom right there.
Looking down at my hand, I have a splint on it with a fractured bone, I am so annoyed with myself, and I look stupid “I am tired” I blurted out, it’s so late “get out of the car” she closed the car door, not my mom finding a random restaurant open at this time of night, she is just not happy at all. It is one in the morning too; Rich is coming to open the door. I feel a mess, Rich opened the door, and I got out of the car. My mom has just left me, so I rushed in quickly, she is being shown a table, so I just did a little run to follow her. It is so late, and she has me out, this is crazy. Sitting down across from her “you have been sleeping about four anyways, so what is the difference? Tired? Huh?” I looked down at the table “you literally have broken my heart Rylee; you are acting so hard done by because I left the house. You purposely just fucked around, and you knew it, you looked at every camera while doing all the shit you did, you’re tired? You have everything, you get the chance to be a teenager, you get the chance to have school, have friends and be with them. You have it all and yet you just out there being embarrassing, running out of the house. Showing why I shouldn’t trust you; you know what you are so young and are exposed to this? Looking at pictures of boys like that” I swallowed “but that is life, everyone at school are just so sexual” my mom put her hand up, she doesn’t want to hear me right now.
“You know what Rylee; I really thought you and I got on like this. We was close, I am saying was. All my children know who my favourite child is, they all know it and yet you disappoint, you hurt me. When I try with you. You are my eldest, you set the tone. You set the example, when I saw from the cameras you walk by your sister and that white boy, just not a care. To watch my baby go up the stairs” her voice broke “how could you, ok. Ok I left, and? Your point is, you are sixteen Rylee, and you’re questioning me and what I do, just because your father and I are going through these issues does not mean we aren’t in contact. Actually, while you was having this tantrum, while you was calling your dad telling on me. I was with him” my face dropped, my mouth hung open “I was there, I was with him, and I heard everything. I appreciate your concern but if any man I am going to be with, is him. So you can look at me like shit, you can assume whatever, but it shows we aren’t close and maybe I made the mistake of thinking that. And you know what; that hurts me” putting my head down “I know every day since I have been away you have been late into school, I know Rylee. Amerie tells me how you told her to fuck off, how you make your own way there. Enough, this ends here. Your dad is right, and he is right that I allow it” she sniffled “you literally broke my heart, you really have. And I’m not going to lash out on you, because it’s not worth it. But I am too hurt to even speak to you, just want you to go about your day. The trust I have in you, it’s not there” my mom is really sobbing out, looking up at her and that was it. The emotions hit me, and I started to cry “Tianna has been dealt with but you, you have hurt me. And I’ve been so blind to it. Not my daughter, I just really can’t believe you. And you won’t be going to no dance, so don’t ask. And if the kids hear about Chris and I, I know it will be you” wiping my tears looking away from her “anyways, let’s eat” my mother said, I don’t even want to eat.
I don’t know if my mom is purposely doing this but it’s turning two in the morning, it’s so late and she is just having cocktails here. This is actually crazy, awfully quiet with us and I feel so bad “I am sorry mom” I said finally “I don’t want to hear it, once I finish this we will go home. And you do have school tomorrow, so wake up this time. I’m home now” nodding my head “why did you see dad?” I asked “none of your business, I only speak to those I’m close with” she said, that made me feel like shit “I erm, I am so disappointed in you Rylee. Allowing a boy in my house, and on top of that your father doesn’t know. Wait till I tell him that part; you know what. I might as well tell him now” I swallowed hard staring at her “so who started the fight at school!?” She barked “Tianna” I said “I assumed so; you’re not much of a fighter are you” she has a point “mom I am sorry, I thought you moved on from dad. I don’t want you apart, everything is a mess. I didn’t mean it, I want us to be close, please mom” my mom got up “let’s go” I’ve really just ruined what we have, and I don’t know if I will ever get that back, I am so annoyed. How was I supposed to know that my parents are fooling around together, I honestly just hate everything and my life. I just wish I could take alot of the things back, but with Tianna I really don’t have the issue of feeling bad about it, she deserves whatever she gets. I hope she’s told mother about her sex experience in the home, I may need to actually tell her. Then the heat will be taken from me and to her, I think she deserves it because it’s always me in the shit.
Arriving back at the house, awfully quiet ride again and it’s weird that I feel at peace knowing my mom was with dad, how good is this. I cannot imagine another man with her, only my dad I care about “Rylee, a boy sending you those pictures is not a good person. I know he wants to have sex with you, he wants pictures from you. Take it from me, at your age” she paused because she strained out that age part “at your age, I wasn’t ready and I was pressured” my face softened “you don’t want that to be your first time, he’s not a good person and I know it. You do not send anything of yourself to that boy Rylee, you will regret it. I do, I regret a lot of things in life, so I am asking you to get rid of that boy” I swallowed hard “ok” I breathed out “I feel pressured, I have the whole school thinking I am ran through and also Melo said it to me because I rejected him” I mumbled “why?” My mom asked “I was going to the dance with Sire, the bad one you don’t like, and he asked, and I was in a mood and I said he’s friend zoned, but he also was messing with Libby, so I was annoyed with that. So I kind of made him feel I didn’t want him” looking at my mom “playing games gets you burnt” my mom said “also mom, I have something you tell you. And I think you should know, even though I should keep it to me, but Tianna is smug anyways” my mon is drained, imagine looking drained and you have just come back from holiday “ok” she said, “did Tianna say anything about Cody?” My mother shook her head “just that she is sorry, but I lost my temper. You know how that goes” I cringed “erm, you know like she had Cody in the bedroom” my mom squinted her eyes “if you tell me she has done anything I am going to ruin the whole house” I opened my mouth and then closed it “they used the house” my mom got out of the car, oh wow. Well Tianna can take this heat now; I mean she deserves it because she is a bitch. I slowly made my way into the house, and then I abruptly stopped hearing the hollering upstairs. Closing the door slowly, I cringed hearing the banging. Mom is beating her; I think but I’m going to hide in my bedroom.
I made my mission to be downstairs early, I did too because I was not going to play around, last night was enough for me. Is Tianna dead, I don’t know “Rylee, can you help me?” Imani asked “with?” She smiled at me “my homework, when I come back from school I need to use your laptop please?” Nodding my head “sure” looking at my phone, North has messaged me.
North: OMG!! Cody has been gloating that he has sex in ur house! It’s all around school and he has her nudes
I did the deepest eye roll, like my eyes could have gone into the back of my head “kids” I locked my phone quickly, my mom is here “I missed you mom” Imani said “same, baby. So did I, Amerie. Tianna won’t be going school today” oh this is crazy, is she dead. I assume she is dead; I mean she’s got to be. My eyes bulged out; Tianna is here. Like this is so awkward, she got her ass beat too. I think my mom really did it, she lost her temper badly, she has a cut and I think a slap mark on her face, wow my mother really beat her “get out of my face, stay in your room. Now” my mom said “go!” Tianna quickly rushed off; I mean who told her to do that. Having sex in the house like that, looking at my mom but looked away from her quickly. I need to just not give eye contact “I will be going to school with you Rylee” I nearly choked “why? I mean yes mom” I switched it up, I ain’t going to push it at all.
North turned away seeing my mom, walking behind her in a hurry. Everyone is just looking at her in the hallway as we made our way to the principal’s office, Rich is also with us. Melo just looked “hi Miss Fenty” Melo waved “hi Melo, like the hair” she complimented him “awww thank you” my mom didn’t stop as she continued to walk, I don’t know why she is here, but I guess I will see. My mother is going to be either doing it to make me apologise or show her face that she is around “Rihanna” my principle came out, he was quick to come out “hi, I am sorry. Shall we” she pointed to his office “of course yes, everyone. To class” following behind my mom as so did a lot of students in the school, I am wondering what she is going to tell him or even say to him “it’s just a quick stop over, Tianna won’t be coming to school. She is unwell, also I am home now. I had business elsewhere so that is why, and I think Rylee has something she wants to say” looking at my mom “oh yeah, sorry. I thought of my behaviour and it’s not good, I will strive to do better” added little spice in that “that is ok, we just want the best for you. But with the whole situation, you are in for detention, ok?” nodding my head “she won’t be going to the dance, neither will Tianna. They both will be coming school and home, no after school things. They are on punishment, but I apologise, I know being away and you calling. I was not here, but just know I am here now” this is just shameful, I mean for me, but I need to see North. The gossip around the school, I need the details right now.
Turning the corner, North is waiting for me at my locker “oh” I said, Melo just stared at me, but I walked around him “Rylee” North rushed over to me and then linked her arm around mine “you’re alive, this is the point, I literally saw your mom and looked away” nodding my head “Tianna is in big trouble, like big. My mom I think she jumped her” North cringed “damn, oh Cody is literally making it known around school, that he has been to your house” rolling my eyes and then seeing Cody “where is Tianna? Her phone is off too?” staring at his face “and?” I said, “you’re her sister, so tell me?” I shrugged “what do I know” he can fuck off “you’re a shit sister to her, she deserves better then you. You’re just jealous that nobody stays with you, no boy wants you. She told me how jealous you are, just tell me where she is!?” shaking my head “no” I sniggered “also I don’t care, so fuck you” walking off with North “she is actually jealous of me, he can shut up” North laughed, staring at Libby as we walked by each other, what is she even staring at.
Tumblr media
Rubbing the side of my face “I see a different you, I am seeing you are very light hearted. This is what I meant by taking the next step, so what is making you happy” Maxwell asked “life” I laughed “erm, you are right. Telling Robyn was something I needed to do, and she said that nobody needs to know, that it’s nobodies business really and I like that, she is right. I expected it to be really different with me but no, she said that she is used to me being me. Just that I needed to know how to handle it, which I am. I feel so much at peace, like doing my thing here. Everyone is gone, I am here alone. I like it. But I think the kids want me home, I had my eldest daughter playing up, we spoke, and I just felt I had the capability in me to speak to her you know, I am in the right head space” I explained “you are, and this is you, nobody else. We must remember that there will be moments where you will feel a sudden change, your trigger points aren’t around Chris and it’s something you need to test. Only then you will learn” my phone started ringing, looking at the I.D “it’s Robyn, can I answer it?” I asked “of course, answer” answering the call “hey” I hope it isn’t negative because that last call was very negative because of the kids “hey Chris, I need you to come to the house. It’s not something I want to tell you over the phone, we need to talk. I need you home as soon as you can” I cringed “is it Rylee?” I said “both, but Tianna mainly. Please come to the house, we need to deal with this, like if you can come quick” furrowing my eyebrows “ok, I will” I guess it is serious, she isn’t laughing so I can imagine it’s not good at all.
I came here as soon as I could, I mean a day later but I made it. I was going to just walk in, but I thought I would wait outside like a normal person. The front door opened “hey” Robyn said and smiled; she is smiling “what’s up? I came” I chuckled “yeah, nice to see you home. You could just come in; I wish it was on better terms” walking into he house “the kids can’t be that bad” I said turning to her, she closed the door, and she shook her head pressing her lips into a hard thin line “hey, why are you crying?” frowning “it’s bad” she managed to say “in what context is it bad, the kids are here, alive. Annoying yes but they good right?” she wiped her tears, her crying is not good “they are awful Chris, them two girls. The eldest two, chasing Rylee down. She has fractured her hand by the way, let’s go into the office” she said, nodding my head following behind her “so she fractured her hand from the fight in school?” Rylee is something else that girl “oh no, she didn’t fight. She got pushed down, someone stood on her hand, she is a useless fighter. All mouth” walking into the office “Oh she is funny actually” I laughed “sit down, I want you to sit because it’s no easy way of saying this because hearing it. Even now, I feel so awful just hitting her the way I did, I lost my shit” I have no idea what has happened “is it Rylee or Tianna? I mean it can’t be that bad, right?” sitting down on the chair “I don’t even want to tell you, but I refuse to keep it away from you, so they can think I will keep secrets from you, I am sorry. I know you are going through your thing, but I just need you to know” I am fearful, Maxwell said I can do this, I know this place will make me want to lose my shit “the kids in school?” I asked, I don’t’ want to know now “yeah, so while I was away with you, these kids have been up to shit, Rylee at night had North here, come to the house. Also Tianna had Cody in my house, she openly had a boy in the house” my eyebrows knitted together “what!?” Maxwell said I would feel it, I feel it already “yeah she had a boy in the house” Robyn repeated “where the fuck is Amerie in this!?” I asked “she went to bed same time as the younger ones, and I am not angry at them. I should have been watching the cameras, just seeing the bitch daughter of mine holding hands with that boy in my house going upstairs to the bedroom” sitting forward on the chair “there is really no easy way of telling you because as a father-” I shook my head “don’t say it” shaking my head as I got up from the chair, I don’t want to hear. Not my daughter, punching the door “she is fourteen Robyn!” I shouted.

Chapter 7.5 - Silva Dirge Part 1
Content Warning: Strained child-parent relationship
Chapter 7.5 - Silva Dirge Part 1
Dinner in this house is always great. I've had a lot of delicious meals, but mostly mac and cheese. That's my fav.
Ymir is usually the one cooking. He practiced really hard to be able to make lots of different dishes. All so he could do things for his mother. Whenever he's making dinner, it turns out fantastic.
Auntie Del is wonderful. Even though she's mute, we have conversations that last hours. She's always interested in my studies. I know she hears from my mom that I'm leaving to go to school, but she doesn't believe it.
When I told her I wanted to work with my father she signed to me.
[I'll keep your secret. Go make your dream happen.]
She's an angel.
I stay here pretty often whenever my dad isn't home. I even brought a bunch of my study materials here to leave in the spare room. I work on side projects a lot while I'm here. Right now I'm studying magnetic rail systems. I ride the tram often and got the idea that I could learn a way to apply the tech to our vehicles for desert travel. The Desert Sector has a mess of different magnetic fields, so I need to find a way to create a maglift able to ride various magnetic waves.
But that's just an idea. I need more resources to do testing. Good thing I made it into the R&D corps. I'll see what options I have for funding for personal research projects once I get oriented.
Right now, I'm sitting in the guest room at the desk. There's a few parts that I've got placed on the desk in front of me and I've been working on assembling them into casing. This casing is meant to house the power cells and charging system for my maglift project. It's going to need a lot of juice so I'm making this a fairly large housing.
Two knocks on the door.
"Come in."
The door opened and closed. A few steps approached me.
"Oooh! Which project is this again?"
"Magnetic lift for vehicles. We have something similar in the trams and in some road vehicles inside the Domain. Nothing that works right out in the sands."
"That's a…fun one?"
"I think so."
"Then it's fun. You staying here tonight?"
"Yeah, Auntie Del insisted. That's why I didn't leave after dinner."
"You gonna call your mom?"
"I was dreading you coming in here to say that."
"Auntie Fran is gonna flip if you say nothing at all."
"I'll call her."
"Want some leftover mac and cheese?"
"Yes please…"
"I'll be back in a few."
"Wait a sec."
"Yeah?"
I turned around and stared at Ymir. He's my super reliable younger cousin. He takes better care of me than my parents do, I think. Dad's distracted all the time. No matter how much he loves me and calls "his precious little girl" I don't really remember him trying to raise me into an adult. Mom works as a doctor in a civilian hospital. She isn't around a lot either and she'ss always yelling at me to be a normal girl and stay away from my projects. Ymir became the one who guided me through a lot of life.
"Ketchup?"
"Yeah. Lots and lots, just the way you like it. Weirdo."
"You're the best."
We both chuckled. I watched Ymir walk out of the room. He closed the door and I was alone again. He was right when he said I should call my mom. Even though we don't have the best relationship, she deserves to hear about today.
I have a comm device on the desk. A sleek black rectangle with a touch sensitive screen. The display lit up as I grabbed it. I put in my lock code and opened up my mother's contact. With a sigh, I pressed the call button.
A few seconds of dial tone then I hear it connect.
[Silva.]
"Hi mom."
[You left before I even woke up. You must have been out of the house early.]
"Yeah, I had something to do today."
[Something like enlisting with the Vault Breakers?]
"You knew?"
[Your father called me. He didn't know about it until he had to stop Harper from yelling at you. Told me you're an E-Ranker.]
"I can explain why I did what I did."
[You don't need to. You always do what you want and ignore what your family wants for you. Your father was happy you succeeded, but he was really upset that you snuck out to test without a word.]
"…"
[Stay with Del and Ymir tonight. Your father will be back in four days. Come home if you want to before then. Otherwise, I'm sure they'll put you up. Just be sure to come home when your father is here.]
"Yes, mother."
[Don't eat too much mac and cheese. You always complain about stomach aches.]
"Yes, mother."
The line disconnected. I heard the tone and then lowered the comm.
How is that the extent of her showing she cares? Don't eat too much?
She doesn't care….
I lowered my held. Tears fell onto my hands. I wasn't making any noise, but the tears wouldn't stop.
Two knocks. I wiped my tears and choked a bit trying to get words out.
"Come in."
The door opened. I was expecting Ymir, but it was Del. She closed the door and walked into the room. She sat on the bed and looked at me. It seemed like she was studying my face a bit. Then she lifted her hands.
[Were you talking to Fran? She was a mess with worry today.]
"She seemed pretty mad."
[She's bad at showing anything else. But she came over in the afternoon.]
"She came here?"
[Said that she and Varun didn't know where you were. She was definitely mad. But I think she just wanted you to be safe.]
"She doesn't ever tell me stuff like that."
[I don't think she can. Fran is difficult sometimes. But she works hard to watch over you and Varun.]
"…I know that. I do. Just hard to accept with how she acts."
[Stay with us til Varun comes home. Then have a talk with them both.]
"Yeah. I think I will. I love you Auntie Del."
[I love you too, Silva.]
While wiping away the moisture still on my face from crying, I heard knocks again. This household is so polite.
Del stood and opened the door before I could respond.
"Hey mom! I was just bringing Silva a bowl of mac."
She let him in and then slipped out of the door, waving to us as she went back to her own room.
"What were you and mom talking about?"
"Just stuff."
"Stuff?"
"Stuff."
"Alright. Well here's your food. I'm gonna head to bed. Get some sleep tonight."
"I will. After I eat all this super yummy mac and cheese."
"It stopped being yummy when the ketchup was put on it. But I hope you enjoy it."
Ymir teased me a bit and left the room.
Time to enjoy this meal and then get some rest.

Why did you elbow me? 121
Achilles Castle part 26
Dr Ashton: pov I quietly check her vitals and the monitor. Her heart rate looks stable, which Is great. I have decided to keep the breathing tube in place a little bit longer. I lower her oxygen back to the normal setting since she is breathing better. Lanie and Jim step into the hallway with me so we don't disturb Kate. I tell them the scans look good, I don't see any clogged arteries or blood flow issues which is great. The only concern I have is her scar tissue because down the road that can cause problems with how her heart functions but other than that everything else looks okay.
Lanie: pov Dr Ashton mentioned to me they have an activity room here on the cardiac ward. It's pretty and doesn't look like a hospital room which is nice for the patients here. Kate is starting to wake up, Dr Ashton decides to remove the breathing tube before Kate is fully awake so as not to scare her. The last thing we want is her having another PTSD/heart Episode her main care has been transferred to Dr Ashton. Dr Calhoun is still coming to check up on her hand later.
Kate: pov I'm just so tired I can barely stay awake, I can hear people talking it sounds like Lanie and Dad. There is also another female voice who introduces herself as Dr Ashton my Dr while I'm her. She mentions I gave them quite a scare in the exam room. I say in a quiet voice that I don't feel good. Wow, my throat is irritated. Dr Ashton says that it is to be expected you had a heart episode, but if you don't feel good, like palpitations or it feels like you're skipping a beat you should mention it to us. The medicine to prevent infection in your hand can cause your stomach to be upset, I'm starting to feel my eyes close. I can barely keep them open.
Dr Ashton: pov she can barely stay awake which is normal, I tell Lanie I will be back in a little bit to check on her vitals and stuff. You 2 should get some food, while Kate is sleeping which should be for a bit longer.
Alexis: pov Lanie is keeping Dad updated on Kate, she is no longer hooked up to the breathing tube, was awake for a bit and is sleeping now and stable as they call it in medical terms. I help Dave get Dad settled in the car, while Martha puts the bag me and her packed in the car.
Jim: pov I decided to head downstairs for some sandwiches I need to walk around. I'm feeling overwhelmed by everything going on right now. Back in the room me and Lanie eat our ham and cheese sandwiches with chips and water to wash it down. Kate wakes up long enough to talk to Jenny the psychologist.
Phycologist Jenny: pov I introduce myself to the group Dr Ashton mentioned Kate is having some issues with her PTSD. I sit in a chair near the bed. I understand she has a heart condition and having a PTSD episode is not good for her. I ask Kate to explain what she can see, hear and feel. She can see Lanie and her Dad. She can hear the heart monitor and she can feel the blanket and her heart beating. I ask her the date and her rank. Lanie told me Kate is a homicide Captain out of the 12th precinct. After talking for a bit with Kate I tell her Dr I'm satisfied with her mental health. She is having a hard time staying awake.
Alexis: pov The ride to the hospital was short and we easily found a parking spot. I wheel dad into the Er and over to the Elevator, Lanie gave us the information to Kate's room.
Castle: pov Alexis put the bag by the wall and wheels my chair near the bed, Kate is asleep her right hand is bandaged and her left has an iv in it. She has an oxygen mask on and a bunch of wires and monitors. A Dr walks in and introduces herself as Dr Ashton a cardiologist on Kate's care team, she mentions Dr Calhoun the Dr who stitched her hand should be coming by later to check on her hand. Dr Ashton says Kate is doing good at the moment everything is stable. The meds started to work immediately the first time the second time she had to be cardioverted thankfully nothing more serious happened. She mentions as a precaution they will keep Kate on the oxygen a little longer and she will be given antibiotics for her hand as a precaution. Because with her weak immune system she has a higher risk of getting an infection. Kate will 100 percent be spending the night at the Er.
Martha: pov Dr Ashton says Katherine might have some chest discomfort but that is normal, a nurse will be in later to check on her and when she wakes up to see if she wants anything to eat her throat might be irritated. Lanie tells us everything that has happened so far. Katherine is starting to wake up and her eyes are starting to slowly open. I can hear Katherine make a noise. Jim hits the button and a nurse appears. She checks her vitals and asks Katherine who is now up but still sleepy if she wants to sit up. Katherine says yes the nurse with the help of Jim slowly sits her up and gets her comfortable. The nurse asks if she wants some ice chips since her mouth might be dry
Jim: pov Castle is feeding her the ice chips. A bit later the nurse asks if she wants something to eat. Dr Ashton said she could. Katie says in a dry voice yes, nurse Stacie says she will bring her an ice pop and some oatmeal. Me and Lanie quickly went to the bathroom while Castle, Alexis, Martha and Dave are in the room with Kate. To be continued. ………

dad- l. laufeyson
pairings: loki laufeyson x doctor!mom!reader, mentions of tony stark, natasha romanoff, steve rogers, oc, and thor odinson warnings: a child, y/n is a mom, dad!loki who is probably a little ooc but i hope that’s okay, y/n is a doctor but there’s no real detail, it’s just alluded to, mentions of an absent father, mentions of adoption about: requested! They’re dating and she has a toddler from a previous relationship that ended badly. Loki treats the baby like she’s his own and brings her to the compound once in a while to show off ‘his’ baby. The little one adores Loki and started calling him dada, making the soft side of him comes out. And also the very protective side. He eventually asks reader if he can officially adopt her to be the father figure. Since reader never put down the fathers name on the birth certificate, they put Loki’s down. a/n: thank you so much for requesting! i hope you liked this!!
tiny fingers splayed your cheeks wake you up, wet lips pressing continuously on your nose as familiar laughter rings in your ear. your nose scrunches, prying your eyes open to meet the mirror image of them in front of you. at the grin that splits daisy’s face, a smile sneaks up on your lips, too, “hey honey,” you say quietly, brushing away a strand of hair that falls in her eyes as your daughter’s warm hands hold your face.
“hi mama,” daisy replies, snuggling into your side, “pancake day,” she informs happily, a chubby finger reaching to trace the slope of your nose.
you tilt your head at her, raising an eyebrow, “really? who says?”
daisy doesn’t get a chance to reply, the crack to your door widening when loki steps through it, balancing a large plate stacked with pancakes and fruits in one hand. “loki!” daisy cheers, sitting up to reach for the food. you sit up, too, cocking your head at your boyfriend as you observe the platter.
“you made food?” you ask, eyes scanning the little cubes of cut-up strawberries and bananas before looking back up at him in pleasant surprise.
loki ducks his chin, “you were asleep. and today is pancake day. i simply could not disappoint daisy,” he explains, letting daisy take a piece of banana to shove in her mouth.
you gently run your fingers through her hair, a soft smile tugging at your lips, “hey, dais, let’s go eat at the table and watch some cartoons, hm?” at the sound of cartoons, she nods quickly, bouncing off of the bed to tug at loki to follow her, the god not making a peep when her grubby hands leave a smear of banana on his wrist. you watch as they head to the kitchen, listening when loki turns on the television and flips it to her favorite show without her needing to tell him. you take a second to remind yourself that the god in your house, sneaking homemade whipped cream--because store-bought whipped cream is not fit for her--to your daughter, is the same god who, not too long ago, physically recoiled at the mere mention of midgardians. you stand when you hear daisy’s voice calling you over when you take too long to follow, peeking around the corner to see loki cutting her chocolate chip pancakes into little squares. “any left for me?” you ask, your body burning hot when loki turns to look at you, a twinkle in his clear sea glass eyes.
“good morning, darling,” he greets, his lips kissing your cheek when you come closer to him, an arm wrapping around your waist. “pancake?” he offers, showing you a plate with two perfectly shaped pancakes, whipped cream piled high just the way you liked it and berries surrounding it in the way you always tried to do but were never able to. you pecked his lips, smiling against him when you heard your daughter protest loudly.
“what are we watching today?” you ask her, fingers taming the mess of bedhead that sits atop her head. she turns to the television after shoving pancake into her mouth, pointing at the image, “clifford,” she says simply. you sit next to her, exhaling, “that’s a good one.” daisy nods, “i want a dog,” she states after a second, “like clifford.”
you glance at loki, “finding a big red dog is going to be a little hard, sweetie--”
“i’m sure there’s one in asgard, if not, there must be one somewhere else,” loki shrugs, squinting at the show, “i’ll find one. worry not.”
you shake your head, chuckling, “maybe a normal-sized dog, daisy.” daisy pouts but nods.
the sounds from the television are the only ones for a few moments until you speak up, “oh, i completely forgot, i have to go meet with some big shot hospital reps for almost the whole day today, do you mind taking care of daisy?” you ask loki, an apologetic look on your face.
“of course not, she can accompany me to the compound today,” loki reasons, not missing the excited look that crosses daisy’s face.
you brighten, “that’s a great idea!” you turn to your daughter, who has smeared red on her cheek and a strawberry in her fingers, you huff a laugh, wiping it away with one of your fingers, “what do you think, dais? wanna go visit the other avengers with loki?”
she nods immediately, hurrying to swallow the fruit in her mouth before turning to loki, “can i wear your cape again?” she asks enthusiastically, patting wildly at your arm, “loki lets me use his cape!”
your eyebrow raises as you look at loki, “does he, now? i thought no one could even touch it?” you tease, appreciating the pale blush that takes over the snow of his cheeks as he shrugs, clearing his throat.
“there are always exceptions to rules,” he states.
-
“i love you,” you say, pressing a kiss into daisy’s hair, she parrots the phrase back to you, leaning further into loki’s arms when you pull away. “i love you,” you continue, kissing loki’s lips, “thank you again,” you whisper, feeling him chuckle against you.
“it is my pleasure,” loki assures before kissing you again. you pull away after a second, smacking your lips on daisy’s forehead as another goodbye.
“i’ll be back later, have fun, okay?” you request before finally walking out the door to head to work. you don’t see daisy’s pout as she lays her head on loki’s shoulder, balling her hand in his shirt. a soft smile tugs at loki’s lips, looking down at her to ask her if she’d like to go to the compound now.
a little while after she nods at his, he finds himself clicking her seatbelt in, making sure she’s safe in her booster seat before he begins to drive. he knows he could easily go there with a flick of his hand, but the travel makes daisy nervous, and, besides, she prefers to ride in the car with him, singing along to the playlist of the songs loki found himself liking in midgard.
daisy squeals when loki pulls into the driveway of the compound, jumping out of the car when he unbuckles her to hurry loki up. she pulls at his pant leg, growing more excited by the minute when she sees the red white and blue of steve’s shield flying behind the compound. “i do not understand why you like that thing so much. so boring,” loki grumbles, grabbing her hand and opening the door.
“ah, there she is!” thor’s voice booms nearly the minute loki and daisy step in, daisy’s grin grows wide, looking back at loki before running to thor. “uncle!” she squeals, oblivious to the way loki freezes when she says the simple word. thor carries her in his arms, holding her up like simba.
“my favorite niece! i brought the hammer for you today!” thor exclaims, sitting her down on one of his arms before holding his other hand out. loki looks to the side, realizing his brother is calling for the hammer with his daughter in his arms, quickly stepping over to him to take her away just as said hammer flies into his open hand. he twirls it, before handing it to daisy in loki’s arms, still keeping a hold on it as she wraps her small fingers around the hammer.
“brother…” loki hisses quietly, refusing to upset the little girl in his arms but wanting nothing more than to knock some common sense into his brother. “i would like to remind you to not do that while daisy is near you.”
daisy barely looks up at her name, too entranced with the intricate carvings in the hammer, “oh, she’ll be fine,” thor shrugs, clapping loki hard on the back, “i am very careful, brother.”
loki purses his lips, “yes, i remember how careful you are.”
“hey! reindeer games and little grey!” tony cheers from around the corner, natasha catching his words from the kitchen and heading for loki. loki can spot the captain in the hallway. “haven’t seen you in a while, kid,” tony tells daisy, ruffling up her hair, “thought you ditched us.”
loki rolls his eyes, concentrating on daisy, who reaches for the electric blue in tony’s chest, murmuring “pretty.”
“isn’t it?” tony brags, tapping a nail on his arc reactor, “built it myself. you want one?” daisy agrees enthusiastically, but loki makes sure to send tony a glare that tells him if he even dares. loki will finish the job in new york.
“how’s the doc?” natasha asks, coming cilently from the kitchen with a bag in her hand.
“y/n is good, she’s at the hospital right now.”
“hey, dais,” natasha starts, her green eyes sparkling, “you remember the toys you wanted from the mall last time we went?” daisy nods. natasha holds up the bag in her arms, “you wanna go see what’s in the bag?”
daisy’s eyes go wide, and she turns to loki, “can i dad? please?”
loki chokes down the uncharactersitic lump in his throat so he can nod, putting daisy down so she can grab natasha’s hand. when they’re out of hearing range, steve raises an eyebrow at loki, “‘dad’? that’s a big one.”
“yes,” loki clear his throat, “she had never called me that before.”
the other men exchange looks, before thor claps loki on the back with a beamng grin, “congratulations.” loki has never felt luckier.
-
it’s a few hours later, when you’re back at home, exhausted and sprawled on the couch next to loki with daisy sleeping on your and loki’s lap. “how was your day?” you ask quietly so you don’t disturb daisy.
“as excellent as a day with the avengers can be. i took daisy to the compound, everyone adored her, natasha spoiled her…” loki trails off, the clear cut reminder of the events of that day bright and new in his mind, “she called me dad,” loki finishes, allowing himself to look into the deep nooks and crannie of his brain that urges him to tell you what he’s been thinking about for far too long. there’s a second of silence.
“she’s never said to you that before,” you finally say softly. loki shakes his head, “she’s slipped up before, though. sometimes she calls you papa when she talks about you.” loki turns to you, searching your features for a lie he won’t find. “you are her father, loki. you’re way more of a father than her biological dad ever has been. you’re her dad, she loves you.” there’s more silence, the question you’re implying hanging in the air, waiting to be grasped and asked.
“would you adopt her?--” you grasp.
“i would like to adopt daisy--” he grasps.
you stare at each other before quiet laughter bubbles from your mouth, a nod tilting your chin, “you know, i never put her biological father’s name in her birth certificate.”
“we could go tomorrow,” loki offers, admiring the beaming smile that brightens your tired face.
“we should,” you agree, staring at loki for a few more moments before connecting your lips, looking down at daisy and brushing away some strands from her face when you pull away. you nod, meeting loki’s eyes again, “tomorrow.”

Tumblr media
From the very moment you laid eyes on Charles Blackwood, you loathed him. There was something about him physically that turned you off of him. Maybe it was the way his hair was just too perfectly done, the caramel highlights too pretty to be natural. Maybe it was the way his cologne filled your head, dark and lovely, but too masculine, like he was making up for something. Or maybe it was the smile that graced his pink and pouty lips when your mother introduced him to you as her husband.
It had hardly been a year since your father had passed, and you had no idea just how your mother could move on as quickly as she did. It had torn you up in a way that nothing else quite had. You had always been closer to your father than your mother and, when he got sick, you were left to bear the weight of what was happening. You went to visit him at the hospital alone and sat with him and read to him, and you held his hand as the nurses carefully turned off his machines. You guess that it was worth it, though; you found out that your father had altered his will and now, instead of his money being left to your mother, it was left to you. The only condition was that you had to get married to receive the money, going back to a conversation many years ago where your father tried to convince you not to go to university, telling you that the life of a wife and a mother would suit you better. You said that you would think about it.
“You’re not my dad,” you told Charles Blackwood. You expected him to be cross or maybe even hurt by your insistence upon that, but he smirked, as if he had expected that sort of answer. “I’m not gonna call you that.”
“Aw, that’s alright, honey,” Charles said, and he pressed his hand to your mother’s shoulder to stop her from scolding you. “I didn’t think you would. That’s awful, what happened to him. I’m really sorry about that.”
So casual, the way he talked about your father’s death. As if it was nothing more to you than a bad exam grade. You cried that night, locked up in your room, wanting Charles gone already. He was in the kitchen when you went in in the morning, sitting at the table, reading the newspaper, and whistling. He had the glow of a recently-spent man about him, and you internally sneered at the thought of him fucking your mother. “Hey, you,” he said, putting the paper down. “Let’s have a talk, huh?”
You glared at him, but sat down at the table all the same. You dug your thumbs into your orange and raised your eyebrows expectantly at him, and Charles pursed his lips. “I want you to know something,” he said. “I love your mom, right? And I have no interest in being your new dad or whatever. But I expect you to treat me with a little bit of respect, not any of… This.” He waved his finger at you, obviously talking about your current abhorrent pose. “I may not be your dad, but I’m still paying the bills and paying for you to go to university. So you’re gonna treat me like you fucking worship the ground I walk on. Got it, honey?”
“And what do I get outta this?” you grumbled.
“You get to keep living here,” Charles said. “You still get all that money that your father left your mother when he died. I don’t see what else you need.”
You scoffed. “Right,” you whispered. “‘Cause you only care about money. Well, Chuck, that’s fucking hysterical, that you think I’m even remotely like you. I can see past dollar signs and see what people are actually about. Anyway, I could care less about your money. I’ve got my own.”
“Doing what?” Charles asked with a dismissive laugh. “Waitressing?”
“You wish,” you sneered. “Mother didn’t get any money from Father.”
“All that money?” Charles asked slowly. “Where the hell did it go?”
“Into my trust fund,” you said highly, and you watched Charles’s blue eyes widen. “I have every cent of my father’s. All I have to do is get married, and me and my husband can fuck off, away from you.”
Charles stuttered for a moment, then said, “Let me get this straight. Your father left every red dime to his kid and not his wife? And you can only access it if you get married?”
“I told him that I wasn’t getting married,” you explained. “This is his twisted way of guaranteeing that I tie the knot at some point; soon, I guess. But congratulations, Chuck. Welcome to the family.”
As you stood up from your place, Charles’s hand shot out and grabbed your wrist, and you yelped. His grip was strong, veins in his hand exposing themselves, and his jaw was set with a rising anger. You could see the red flush in his chest and neck, and, as pleased as you wished you were, you were frightened by him. Your father had never grabbed you like that before. Nobody had. “What did I say about a little goddamn respect?” Charles asked through gnashed teeth, and he twisted his hand, pulling your skin and making you cry out in pain. “You don’t call me Chuck. You call me Charles, or Father, or fucking nothing.”
“Let go of me, you fucking bastard,” you hissed.
Charles’s face was red now, and he lashed out and struck you across the cheek. Before you even had time to cry out, he had you by the chin, forcing you to look at him. “Go to your room,” he told you. “Next time I see you, if this fucking attitude isn’t fixed, you’re gonna be really sorry. You hearing me, honey?”
You nodded, using every ounce of your self control to not burst into tears on the spot. You cursed him in your head, wishing for him to leave you and your mother alone. You wanted him gone, maybe even dead. Certainly nowhere near you or your mother anymore. Charles stared at you, watching you, making sure of your compliance, then he let go of your face and tugged you close to his body by your wrist. Confusion overtook you as he hugged you, but then it made sense when you heard the floorboard in the hallway creak. “I know you miss him,” Charles said, quiet but certainly loud enough for your mother to hear from the hallway. “And I can’t be him, but I’ll try my best. Alright, honey?”
He sent a quick pinch to your tender wrist, and you finally let out your caged sobs. “Hey, hey,” Charles said, shushing you in what could be mistaken for comfort. “No need for crying, little one. I’m here for you.”
When you finally tore yourself from Charles, he looked happy. The anger was gone from his face, and he smiled at you. “‘Morning, lovely,” he said to your mother, and he stepped around you to embrace your mother and kiss her cheek.
“What’s going on?” your mother asked, looking at you worriedly.
“Having a little heart-to-heart,” Charles said softly. “Said she missed her father, and I told her that I’ll try my hardest to be there for her.”
“Aw,” your mother cooed and placed a kiss on Charles’s lying lips. “You’re too good to us.”
That conversation seemed to change something between you and Charles. He was still an asshole when your mother wasn’t looking, but you knew not to tell her. She wouldn’t believe it, and it would inevitably just mean more trouble for you. However, there was suddenly something more with Charles. He seemed charming, as always, but you sensed something sinister underneath it. You knew that he was only after your father’s money, and he was now stuck with your mother when it was you who had all the money. You knew that he was mad at marrying the wrong woman, but he couldn’t do anything about it now, and the thought that your presence vexed him as much as he did you pleased you.
Except, as you found out one night, Charles still could do something.
It was still dark outside your window when you heard your bedroom door creak open. You liked to sleep with it closed, and you brushed it off as the house shifting as it settled. Your clock said that it was five in the morning, and you nearly got up to close your door back, but you smelled him first. Fresh from his morning shower, cologne still potent, Charles lingered in the doorway to your room before stepping in. You squinted your eyes to try to see what Charles was doing, but still trying to act asleep, and you watched him cross to your dresser, across from your bed. He carefully opened drawer after drawer, obviously hunting for something specific, and your heart dropped when he crouched to the bottom drawer and his hands came up to brush back his hair.
Your heart burned with hate and disgust as you watched your mother’s husband, your stepfather, pull out a pair of your panties. You had done laundry just two days earlier and hadn’t worn them yet, and you watched as Charles pressed the bundle of cotton to his face. After a moment, he stood up, your panties in his fist, and you quickly closed your eyes to feign sleep as Charles approached the bed. You felt his presence right by your face, felt his eyes watching you as you slept, and he whispered, “Fuck, little one...”. Then, you heard the zipper on his pants. Through your eyelashes, you watched Charles press his half-hard cock into his fist and begin to stroke himself, rubbing himself with your panties. He slotted his bottom lip between his teeth as he masturbated, watching you as you “slept”. “So fuckin’ pretty… Gonna be mine.”
You tasted acidic hate in your mouth, but you couldn’t make yourself confront him. To your knowledge, nobody had ever masturbated to the thought of you before. There was a tiny part of you that liked that Charles was so hung up on you, even if the dominating part of your brain told you how sick it was. Anyway, you hardly wanted to interrupt him and stop an orgasm and give him yet another reason to hate you.
Charles’s cheeks went red in the dim light of the room as his fist moved faster. Your panties were bunched around his cock, flushed and nestled there like it belonged, and you closed your eyes fully. You didn’t want to see him come. You didn’t want to know what he looked like. You moved slightly, adjusting your legs under the blankets, and Charles let out a quiet little grunt. “One day…” he mumbled to himself. “Gonna be mine… All that’s gonna be mine.”
His breath caught in his throat, and you heard the wet squelch as his cum coated your panties. Charles stood for a moment, watching you, feeling his cock soften in his hand, and he finally sniffed and stuffed the used panties into his pocket. He tilted his head as he continued to examine you and the way you gave little noises as you slept, and he smiled. Oh yes, he thought as he brushed a bit of hair from your cheek. You would make a good wife.
Later that day, you were absently wandering around the house. It was too hot to do anything outside comfortably, but you definitely didn’t want to be around Charles or your mother for the moment. Even though you hadn’t seen anything that Charles had done, his grunts and hisses were enough for you to know that he enjoyed his time in your room that morning. You had yet to find your panties, and your stomach roiled when you wondered if he still had them in his pocket.
Your stepfather called your name from across the house, and your heart dropped. As you made your way to his office, you decided to play with him in the worst way possible. If he was going to haunt you and make you miserable, you were going to do just the same. Charles was leaned back in his desk chair when you got there, smoking from his pipe. His tie was loose, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, his gelled hair coming a bit undone. He looked stressed, and perhaps a little anxious. “Yes?” you asked, crossing your arms over your chest as you leaned against the doorframe.
“What are you doing tonight?” Charles asked, blowing out a mouthful of thick smoke.
You shrugged. “Nothing, I suppose,” you said. “Why?”
“I wanted to take you to dinner,” Charles said. “I think we got off on the wrong foot, and I would like to make it up to you, if I can. I… I truly apologize for hitting you. I have a short temper, see, and I’m trying to be better about it.” His lips were pursed, his eyes trained on you.
If you didn’t know any better, you would think that his apology was genuine. But he needed you on his good side in order to get your fortune. He was buttering you up. You sighed. “That’s alright,” you said. “Umm… I’d like that, I think. Would Mother be coming as well?”
“No, little one,” Charles said, and you remembered how he had called you that as he pleasured himself into your panties. “Just us. A father-daughter dinner.”
“Alright,” you said. “Umm… Would you be angry if I called you Father? I just think…” You trailed off and pretended to be ashamed as you played with the sleeve of your dress. “Maybe it would help me adjust.”
“Not at all, honey,” Charles replied. “Anything to make you comfortable.”
You gave him the smallest smile, and you approached his seat. “I should have greeted you with a bit more open-mindedness,” you mused. “I was being childish. I hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive me, because I… I just want you to like me, Father.”
“Aw, honey, I do like you,” Charles said, tilting his head. “You’re already forgiven.”
Your smile grew, and you leaned over to give Charles a tight hug. You could smell his strong cologne as you embraced him, and you made sure to give a soft little moan in his ear. “Oh, Father!” you started. “I can’t seem to find some of my clothes. Would you happen to know where they might have gone? Mother’s always on about donating unused things.”
“I have no idea, little one,” Charles said, and you straightened up. “What exactly are you missing?”
“Just a few sweaters,” you said, tracing the etching on the desk. “A skirt or two… A pair of panties with daises on them.” You gave a little laugh, and added, “They were my lucky pair and I just… Never mind, that’s embarrassing.”
“No, I mean,” Charles began, and he shifted in his chair. Your words had done exactly what you had hoped; he was suspicious and uncomfortable. “If it means a lot to you. How exactly are they lucky, might I ask?”
You laughed quietly. “Oh, Father, I couldn’t possibly tell you,” you giggled. “It’s not the sort of things girls talk about with their parents.”
“C’mon,” Charles smiled, reaching forward and playfully tickling your side. “If you don’t tell me, then I’ll assume the worst.”
In truth, the panties meant nothing to you. You couldn’t even remember when or where you had gotten them. But if it made Charles uncomfortable, then you would stretch the truth however far you needed to. You bit your bottom lip and giggled, and you said, “Fine, fine. I wore them the night I almost lost my virginity, and I… I just feel good wearing them.”
Charles straightened in his chair, setting his pipe aside. “You’re not a virgin?” he asked.
“I said ‘almost’, Father,” you whispered. “I still am.”
“Well, that’s not a bad thing,” Charles told you. His hands went to your waist and tugged you closer to him, and he carefully parted your legs with his knee. “Are you waiting for marriage?”
You shrugged. “Or whatever,” you said. “I wanted to do it, but I just… He wasn’t my type.”
“And what is your type, honey?” Charles asked.
Your stomach was curling with disgust, but you kept up the ruse. “I don’t know,” you whispered. With a sigh, you settled yourself on Charles’s thigh, playing with the collar of his shirt. “Just, someone who knows what they’re doing, I guess. Who can make me feel good without making mistakes. Older, I suppose.”
“What else?” Charles asked. His thumb brushed against your hip bone, and you shivered when you felt your walls flutter. You couldn’t possibly be turned on by playing this sick game with your stepfather, could you?
“I like dark hair,” you said softly. “Tall. Nice eyes.”
“So…” Charles began and gave you a satisfied grin, one like a wolf who had cornered his prey. “Me.”
“Oh, God,” you whispered. “I-I guess, when you put it that way--”
“It’s alright, little one,” Charles said softly, and he leaned forward and kissed each of your cheeks. “It’s alright if you’ve got a little crush on me. Tell me, honey: have you ever been touched before?”
“Yes,” you replied with a fake meekness. He seemed to like the more innocent side of you.
“Yes…?”
You swallowed down disgust, disguising it as nerves. “Yes, Father.”
“Good girl,” Charles whispered. “How have you been touched?”
“A boy put his fingers in me,” you told Charles, avoiding his eyes. “And his mouth on me.”
“Where on you?” Charles pressed on. His hand slipped down to your bare legs and let his fingers linger on the soft skin of your inner thigh.
“Father,” you mumbled. “I can’t say it.”
“Show me,” Charles demanded, his face suddenly stony. “Put your hand where that kid had his fucking mouth.”
You let your hand rest on top of Charles’s, and you lifted it to your breast first. “Here--”
“Over your dress?” Charles laughed.
“N-No,” you laughed softly. You bit your lip as you guided his hand down the neck of your dress, and you shuddered at his warm palm on your soft nipple. Your cunt fluttered again, and you fully blushed when you realized that Charles had certainly felt it against his tense thigh. “Here,” you whispered, and you found yourself letting out a quiet moan as Charles groped at your breast. You weren’t supposed to be enjoying this. No, this was supposed to be torture for him.
“You like when I touch your tit like this, honey?” Charles asked, and you nodded quickly. “So good for your father, little one. Where else?”
You took his wrist and pulled his hand up to your mouth, and you placed a gentle kiss to his fingertips. “He kissed me,” you said.
“Did you like it?” Charles asked. He pressed his thumb to your bottom lip, and you took it into your mouth as Charles watched greedily.
You shook your head, and Charles pulled his thumb from your mouth. “What did he do wrong?” he asked softly.
“Nothing,” you whispered. “I just didn’t like him, I suppose.”
“Do you usually fuck guys you don’t like?” Charles asked.
“I didn’t fuck him, Father!” you said quickly. “I-I stopped it. Remember?”
“Oh, right,” Charles said in a hushed tone. “Saving yourself for the right person, who just so happens to have every quality that I possess. Is that right?”
“Father,” you groaned, leaning forward to press your forehead against his shoulder. For some reason, you didn’t entirely mind the smell of his cologne anymore. You didn’t mind his perfect hair. You didn’t even mind the wolfish smile that overtook his pink pout.
“Where else was that boy’s mouth?” Charles whispered. “Did he put it anywhere else? Or just on your pretty little mouth and tit?”
As you grabbed his hand, you realized that there was absolutely no going back. Your plan was set in motion and there was no way to stop it. You took a deep breath to prepare yourself, and you slowly took his hand down your body. You carefully lifted your dress and settled his hand over your cunt, and you shuddered at the warmth of his palm. His fingers were against your hole, the heel of his hand pressed to your clit, and you watched him lick his lips. “You naughty little thing,” Charles chuckled. “You let him put his mouth on your pussy?”
“I didn’t like it,” you told him quickly. “I didn’t like him.”
“Honey, I’m gonna ask you this once,” Charles whispered, pressing his hand fully against you. Even through the thin layer of your panties, you could feel every inch of his hand, and you bit your lip and tried to control your hips from bucking into his palm. Amongst other things, you were sure that you would get in trouble for it. “Do you want me to fuck you? I can show you how good you’re supposed to feel, little one, you’ll love me for it.”
You nodded quickly, but yelped when his free hand landed a smack on your ass. It truly hurt, and you whimpered when his hand stayed on your ass and squeezed. “Use your words, honey,” Charles said. “As much as I like the little dumb whore act, I wanna hear you beg for it.”
“Yes,” you said quickly. “Yes, Charles, please. Please, Daddy, please fuck me.”
“Ooh, Daddy,” Charles purred. “I like the sound of that, baby. Stand up and take off your panties, sweetheart.”
You did as he told you, shivering when the cool air hit your wet cunt, and Charles tugged you back down onto his thick thigh. The roughness of his pants made you whimper louder, and he sent a slap to your cheek. It wasn’t hard and didn’t even hurt, but you gasped all the same. “Keep your fucking cock-hole shut,” Charles hissed. “You want your mother to hear you fucking yourself on my leg?”
“N-No, Daddy,” you whined.
“Good girl,” Charles whispered. “Show me how badly you want me.”
“Huh?”
Charles took fistfuls of your dress and tugged it downwards, letting your tits escape. “I said, show me how badly you want me to fuck your little hole, babygirl,” he growled. “Fuck yourself on my thigh, and maybe, if you’re good for me, I’ll bend you over this desk right now and fuck you ‘til you can’t walk. You want that, baby? Want your daddy’s cock wrecking your pretty little pussy?”
You rested your hands on his shoulders to steady yourself, and you rocked your hips down onto his hard thigh. The material of his pants brushed your cunt and clit and made you bite back a whimper, and you squeezed your eyes shut. You hated the way that you were enjoying it. You hated him. Maybe you even hated yourself. But self-loathing could wait until you got off, because the pleasure of everything was too overpowering to focus on much else.
Charles’s hands roamed your body, touching you everywhere that he could manage. He squeezed your tits and pinched your nipples, and bolts of pleasure rocked through your whole body. That, added with the feeling on your clit, was almost too much, and you whined out. “Daddy--!”
Suddenly, his hand was over your mouth, the other clamping down around your throat. “Shut up!” he huffed. His eyes were alert, locked on yours, and his face was red. Was he really angry? The thought that he was truly angry made your stomach flip, and not in a good way. “I told you to shut the fuck up, why can’t you listen?”
You pleaded with your eyes, asking him to forgive you. It was important for your plan that he didn’t have any ill will towards you. You needed him to want to marry you, and to actually do it. Then, you would get the money, and you could find a way to stage a suicide before the money was put into his bank account. Then, you would have your father’s money, and live with just yourself and the fortune he gave you. But, in order to do that, you had to do everything Charles Blackwood asked of you. You had to treat this horrible man like the sun shined out of his lying ass. You had to make him want to marry you. Which, at the current moment, didn’t seem like it would be too difficult.
You mumbled behind his hand, trying to warn him that you were going to come, but he only hit you across the cheek again. “Not another sound, you fucking whore,” he said. “Fucking yourself on your father’s leg. So slutty. You gonna come? You wanna come on Daddy’s leg?”
You nodded quickly, and you started your hips faster. Your legs were quivering and you could hardly hold yourself upright anymore, and Charles took note of the tears brimming at your eyelashes. “Is this the first orgasm you’ve ever had, honey?” he asked. He seemed softer suddenly, and his hand left your mouth; the other stayed secure around your throat, though. You nodded quickly, and he gave a little coo. “Aw, my poor baby. I guess I oughta take some pity on you, huh? You’ve been good to me after all… Take off your dress and sit on the desk.”
Your dress hit the floor, and you settled yourself on the edge of Charles’s desk. It was a hefty thing made of mahogany, and you clenched your thighs together as Charles’s eyes raked over your entire body. “I know you’re not trying to be modest now,” he laughed. “Open your legs and show Daddy that pretty pussy.”
You bit your lip and did as he said, and you gasped when his eyes finally landed on your cunt. You were dripping wet, your slick glistening off your thighs, and Charles let one thick finger glide up your slit and collect your wetness on his fingertip. “Jesus Christ, baby,” he laughed. “You were really close, weren’t you? Let me guess, you want me to shove my cock in you, huh? Want me to fuckin’ split you in two and stuff you full of my cum? God, you would look so pretty, gettin’ all big with my baby.” He paused to suck your wetness off of his finger, and he gave a quiet little sigh. “Oh, God. Of course you taste good… So sweet, like sugar. It’s almost like you want me to eat you out, sugar.”
“Please,” you sniffled. You reached for him and pulled him in by his tie, and he slotted easily between your thighs. “Please, please, please, Daddy, want your mouth on my pussy, please, make me come, Daddy…”
Charles placed a soft kiss on your forehead as a way to placate your begging, and he whispered, “You’re asking so nicely, sugar. How could I say no to your pretty little face?”
You didn’t know what exactly to expect as Charles kneeled down in front of you, and you carefully pushed your fingers through his hair, through those perfect blond highlights. The moment his tongue touched your clit, though, you forgot entirely about how you were supposed to be hating him. You forgot practically everything that wasn’t Charles. He lapped up your wetness and placed a wet kiss to your lips, and your stomach clenched as he looked up at you through his eyelashes. “Aw,” he whispered, his warm breath making your cunt flutter again. “You look so pretty, sugar, all fucked out like this. Can’t wait ‘til I can actually fuck you…”
And, with that, he dived in. He was kissing, licking, and sucking your cunt like it was his only goal in life, your thighs in his bruising grip. You had the instinct to clamp your legs shut, and you nearly did, but Charles pulled his mouth away just enough so that his lips teasingly brushed your clit, and he whispered, “Now, that’s not what good girls do, is it?”
“M’sorry, Daddy,” you whispered. “Just feels so good.”
“I know, sugar, I know,” Charles whispered. “You’re being so obedient for me, though. Do you think you deserve a reward?”
“Yes,” you gasped. “Please, Daddy, I’ve been so good for you. Done what you’ve asked, please let me come.”
Charles sighed, looking up at you once more. “I love listening to you beg,” he whispered. “But you’ve been doing good for me. Go ahead, sugar. Come on my face, baby.”
The way his lips shined with your cum nearly made you pass out. If it were anyone else, you would have adored the sight of it, but, since it was your awful fucking monster of a stepfather, you loathed it. Still, you pulled him close and kissed him all the same, cringing at the taste of yourself on his mouth.
“What do we say?” Charles asked. His hands smoothed down your body, landing on your waist, and he tugged you flush against his body.
You let out a quiet little laugh. “Thank you, Daddy,” you whispered.
Charles smiled, looking like the cat who ate the canary. “You’re welcome, sugar.”

late night phone calls: Matt Simmons
Matt Simmons x female!Reader (Rossi’s daughter)
WORD COUNT: 2,136
WARNINGS: tw: mentions of Scratch
SUMMERY: Based off of 13x01, and how I see the events of it happening between Matt Simmons, and his fiancé Y/N Rossi that night
A/N: so just a little heads up: yes, this character’s father is the david rossi AND the communications liaison for the team. no, i do not have her mother being married or even divorced to david. she (and her twin brother) are byproducts of a one night stand between their parents, and the two had shared custody of them. ((i am thinking of making this a series, so if you like this please comment or message me saying i should continue this))
Tumblr media
Late night phone calls during the night were never the best to happen, especially because it wasn’t from either of the two people sleeping in the bed together. Y/N Rossi had recently just started her maternity leave, and the short hours of sleep had just started since there was a newborn baby in the home. It seemed like the little baby girl in the house could wake up to a pin dropping on the floor. It also didn’t help that their three-year-old son liked to wake them up early in the morning as well. So, when Matt and Y/N heard one of their phone’s ringing, the two immediately shot up from their positions on their bed, and leaned over to the nightstand to see which one of them was getting the call. When Y/N looked at her screen though, it showed nothing but some Facebook and Instagram notifications.
“Simmons here.” Was what Y/N heard from the other side of the bed. She was thankful that it wasn’t her own phone call. With the baby still trying to get a sleeping schedule, the poor woman was exhausted.
“Hey-hey! Penelope calm down, repeat what you said but slower.” Matt repeated as all he heard on the other line was just gibberish. Penelope finally calmed down on the other side of the line what was going on. Scratch was back and six team members, including his future father-in-law, signals were all offline. Matt was the one member that wasn’t on the BAU to know about all the current information on Scratch. They choose him since he would be someone that wouldn’t be with the team incase Scratch attacked, and Penelope would be able to call to help with the case and actually know what was happening. “Alright, I’ll be at the office as fast as I can.” Matt said as he swung his legs over his side of the bed and started to head for the closet to put some actual cloth on, instead of the boxers he was wearing.
With the lights and the movement that happening, Y/N sat up from the bed and looked over at her fiancé. “What’s going on? Why are you getting dressed?” She asked as she sat up in bed, turning her lamp on as she looked over at Matt getting dressed.
“Garcia called me; she needs me to come in to help her.” Matt told her as he looked over at her as he threw one of his shirts on before grabbing a button up to put on over the shirt.
“Well, I guess that means I should get up and start getting dressed too. Pen’s probably going to be ringing me soon. I could call my mom up and just drop off Alexander and Lacie with her.” She said rubbing her eyes as she slowly started to sit up, but Matt hurried over to her and pushed her shoulder’s back down towards the bed.
“Nope, Penelope strictly said that you were not to be called onto the case Y/N. You just had a baby. You need some sleep, and since the IRT disbanded, I’ve been dying for a case.” Matt said as he leaned down to place a kiss on top of her forehead. “I will be back as soon as I can, alright?”
“Alright.” Y/N said smiling as she looked up at Matt and smiled up at him. “I love you, and be careful, please.” She said as she squeezed his hand tightly.
“I always am, aren’t I?” he asked her smiling before placing a quick kiss onto her lips before he walked out of the bedroom door and hurried down the steps, knowing that the team really need his help. He was glad that he didn’t tell Y/N, knowing if he did, it would have worried her even more then she was already.

It didn’t take long for Y/N to fall back asleep, except this time, it was her phone that woke her up. “Hello?” She asked as she answered the phone.
“Is this Miss Rossi?” the female voice on the other side of the line asked.
“Yes, this is she, can I ask who this is?” Y/N asked a she soon stood up from the bed and started to walk over to the closet.
“This is Nurse Hugh’s over at D.C General Hospital. Your father, David Rossi, was brought in tonight with the rest of his team. Since you are his emergency contact, we decided to notify you. He is though refusing medical treatment for right now, so we would really appreciate it if you could come down at this hour and speak some sense into him.” The nurse asked her over the phone.
Of-course her father was refusing treatment, it didn’t shock her at all. “Yes, I will be down as soon as I can.” She said to the woman over the phone, before hanging up and hurrying to throw on some cloths that looked appropriate, all before hurrying and throwing a diaper bag together for little Lacie, and pack some snacks and things to entertain Alexander. She knew that she would have to bring her son and the little baby with her now, to try and convince her father to actually get medical treatment.
 ☾ . ° . ⋆⠀┊---------------------------------------------------------------┊ ⋆⠀. ° .  ☾
It only took a short time to drive to the hospital, and soon enough, she was walking in with Alexander holding her right hand and walking, while she had Lacie in her stroller. “What the hell are you doing here? Your supposed to be on maternity leave, not working a case?” Luke asked once he saw the woman walking in with her baby to the hospital where all the team members. He soon grabbed the stroller out of her hands and started to walk with her while pushing the stroller.
“I’m not coming to work the case Luke, I’m my dad’s emergency contact. So, they called me to say he was denying medical treatment.” She said before following Luke to the room where her father was staying in. Once inside, she saw her father laying on the hospital bed, with a bandage taped around the hair line on his forehead. “Now, why the hell are you denying medical treatment?” Y/N asked her father as she watched Luke place the baby stroller off to the side for her.
“I said, I would accept medical treatment once Luke and Spence went to my office and opened my desk to grab those Cubs season tickets that I’ve been promising him.” Rossi said, giving his daughter a pointed look, as to stay just go with it.
“Alright, well can you two head off then? I would really appreciate it if my father was actually checked out by the doctors.” She told the two men standing in front of her before watching them walk out of the room.
“Grandpa, up.” Alexander said as he put up his arms while standing on the side of his bed. The two were very close, maybe it was the fact that her father insisted on Sunday dinners with the family now.
Y/N walked over to the side of the bed and put her hands under Alexander’s arms and picked him up to sit on the edge of the bed, as she pushed some of the strands of hair out of his face. “You didn’t call your brother or mother about this all did you?” Rossi asked his daughter, hoping that she wouldn’t have called either.
“Mom, no. She would have been glad that you were in here and said you deserved it. It may have been decades since everything, but mom keeps grudges. Nicholas on the other hand I did call.?” She said as she soon saw her father about to start lecturing her on calling her twin brother this late at night. “I called him just to let him know what’s going on, besides he’s not even asleep yet. He’s off in California working on a case.” She told her father. It wasn’t a surprise that THE David Rossi, who started the BAU, would have twins that would both be working as Special Agents. While Y/N now worked for the BAU with her father, she at first worked before with the IRT, where she met her fiancé. While, her twin brother Nicholas worked for NCIS.
“Well, I’m glad. I only one worry child for tonight.” Rossi told his daughter smiling. Soon enough, the doctors were allowed to come in and check Rossi for the injuries he might have sustained in the car accident.

It only took a few hours, but the team had been able to catch Scratch before he could do any more harm to anyone. It might have been wrong to say, but Matt felt amazing right now. He had been missing the thrill of being out there in the field, working on taking down an unsub. Yet, all he wanted to do now after taking down Scratch, was take his family home. Which is why he was standing in the open door, looking into Rossi’s hospital room to see Y/N and Alexander both curled up on the tiny couch with one another, while Lacie was asleep in her stroller. “I told her that she needed her rest.” Matt said sighing as he walked into the room.
“And you really thought she would listen? I raised her; I know she has selective hearing.” Rossi told Matt smiling as he chuckled shaking his head. “Take them home, you all need your rest. Their keeping me over night just to make sure nothing is wrong with me. Then you all can come be my ride home since my car isn’t here.” Rossi told Matt smiling.
“I’ll just leave Y/N’s keys here for you, then you can just drive home and we’ll all come over later in the day for dinner.” Matt said smiling before walking over to where Y/N was sleeping, and shaking her shoulder gently. “Hey, time to go home and get some sleep there.” Matt spoke quietly, trying not to wake up Alex in her arms.
Y/N nodded her head before sitting up from the bed slowly before getting up and passing over slowly before looking over at her father. “Are you sure you are okay for us to leave you for the night?” She asked her father as she soon started to wheel Lacie around the room.
“Yes, I am perfectly fine. You two get some sleep, and make sure my grandchildren are up and ready to eat some of grandpa Rossi’s food tomorrow.” Rossi told his daughter smiling.
“Well Alexander is the only one that can eat your food, as for Lacie, I can’t promise she’s going to be up. She likes to take multiple naps throughout the day.” Y/N said smiling as she walked over to her dad and kiss his forehead. “Love ya dad.” She said smiling.
“Love you too sunshine.” Rossi said smiling as he watched the couple soon walk out of the room.
“Alright, let’s go home and get these kids to bed.” Matt said smiling as the two of them soon walked out to his black SUV that was parked near the front of the hospital.
 ☾ . ° . ⋆⠀┊---------------------------------------------------------------┊ ⋆⠀. ° .  ☾
It seemed as if sleep was just not for the two parents tonight once they got back home. Alex had woken up right when the car stopped, so Matt had gone to go read the young boy a book. While that was happening, Lacie had decided to wake up as well, though she was waking up because she was hungry. So, Y/N had heated up a bottle for the little girl. By the time that the two children had back fallen asleep, it was near 3 in the morning.
The two parents soon laid back down in their bed after the event full night. Y/N placed her head on Matt’s chest and soon asked, “We can do this right?”
“Do what?”
“Be two working FBI agents, while also being parents of two kids?”
“Of-course we can.”
“A-are you sure?”
Matt soon moved up a little to look down at her. “Of-course we can, we are two badass parents that can handle everything that’s thrown at us.” He told her smiling.
Y/N soon let out a yawn. “Your right we are two badass parents.” She said smiling
“And now these two badass parents need their sleep.”
“Oh, you are correct about that. I love you.” She said as she let her eyes flutter shut.
“I love you too.” Matt whispered to her before pressing a kiss into her hair, and letting his eyes shut as well.

You go out into your living room. “We’re going home.”
“What?” Sif asks looking up from her phone.
“The hospital won’t allow me to work until Thor and my annulment is over so there’s no point in being here.”
“You don’t want to see any family?”
“My dad is still working, he and my mom are in Japan so I wouldn’t see them anyway. Jane was the only other person I really wanted to see and you saw how that turned out.”
“We can go whenever you want. The jet is at the airfield we just have to call in the crew.”
“Will you please? I want to go as soon as possible.”
“Call Thor.” Bryn says and you frown, “honestly he’s driving me crazy. Please just call him.”
“Fine!” You go back into your room and drop down onto the bed then video call him.
“Hi Elskede.” He says softly, he looks like he’s just woken up and when you look at your watch you realize for him it is nearly six am and that Bryn is a liar.
“I’m sorry, I should’ve waited. I forgot about the time difference.”
“No it’s okay. You look upset.” You nod then promptly burst into tears. “Oh Elskede.” He soothes and it just brings on more tears. You spill everything, how horrible Jane was and how it made you feel like such a shitty friend even though you’d done your best to reach out. How Peter had made a huge deal about you and Thor being married and practically screamed it to the paparazzi who you’re sure are going to sell it to the rest of the world. Then you tell him about work and how all you wanted to do was take care of sick kids.
“What can I do to help?” Thor asks as you finish explaining the last 24 hours to him.
“When I get home I really want a hug.” You tell him and he laughs softly.
“Elskede, that’s the least I can do. Anything you want.”
“Honestly that’s it. You’ve let me vent and cry and now all I want is one of those bone crushing hugs you used to give me.”
“Nothing else?”
“I’m sure I’ll think of something.” You tease your mood already brighter. Someone knocks on your door, “come in?”
“Sorry to interrupt.” Sif says, “the jet can be ready before midnight.” You glance at the time and nod.
“That works for me.” You tell her glancing over at your almost completely packed bag.
“You’re sure you don’t want to stay longer Elskede?”
“Positive.” He nods and you lay back on your pillow. You’re still chatting with him when a loud noise from out in the living room catches your attention.
“I’ll be right back.”
“Okay.” You lay the phone down and climb off your bed then open your bedroom door.
“Is everything okay?”
“Dr. Foster is attempting to gain access.” Bryn tells you, you notice the gun in her hand but don’t say anything.
“Why?”
“We don’t know.” You sigh and move toward the door but Sif stops you.
“Are you sure you want to do this again?”
“Yea.” You pull out the stop then open the door.
“What the hell. Why wouldn’t the door open.”
“Didn’t know if you told Peter where I lived or not and if he had a key.”
“What?”
“He came to my work Jane. Screamed about how I was married to a prince and how you’d told him everything. Just loud enough for the paparazzi to hear.”
“And I’m sure that’s all my fault.”
“Hell yea it is! I asked you to keep that to yourself!”
“I don’t keep secrets from my boyfriend.”
“Just your best friend then huh.” You snap and she glares at you.
“I just came to get some of my shit.”
“You know what? Just keep the fucking place. Thanks to your boyfriend I don’t have a job here anymore and Asgard and Thor already feel more like home than this fucking city does anyways.” You sneer before turning on your heel and heading back to your room. You grab your bag, shove the few things you took out back into it then grab your phone.
“I’ll call you back.”
“Elskede.” Thor starts before you hang up on him.
“Lose my number until you lose the shit attitude.” You tell Jane before blowing past her Sif and Bryn hot on your heels. When you get downstairs you’re horrified by the amount of press outside your place.
“Can we take you to the embassy now?”
“Fine.” You agree and the two women flank you on either side then hurry you out the door. The paparazzi start screaming the second they realize it’s you but you keep a passive face, you don’t look at them and you follow Sif and Bryn’s directions to the car. When you pull away some of the paparazzi follow you but Bryn easily loses them.
When you pull up to the embassy it Bryn hardly slows down. The gates swing open for you and slowly shut behind you while two guards block the drive. When the car stops Sif opens the door and you climb out then follow her into the embassy.
“Your Highness, welcome! I’m Tyr, the ambassador. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He’s a burly older man with a long white beard and shoulder length white hair.
“Thank you for allowing us to spend a couple of hours here. It’s much appreciated.”
“Of course your Highness. Is there anything I can get you?”
“No thank you.” You tell him as your phone starts to ring, you’re not surprised to see that it’s Thor. “Excuse me the Crown Prince is calling.” He nods and you step away putting the phone to your ear.
“Hello?”
“Just wanted to check in. Did you make it to the embassy okay?”
“Yea, I’m just ready to be home.”
“It’s been weird without you here Elskede.”
“Can we do a long weekend when I get back? Before Spain?”
“That should be fine, where do you want to go?”
“Surprise me.” You tell him and he hums softly.
“I have to go though Elskede. I’ll see you when you get back. Have a safe flight.”
“Okay, bye.” You hang up then join Sif, Bryn and Tyr again.
“Everything alright?” Sif asks and you nod.
“If you have things to do you don’t need to host us. We’ll just be here for a couple hours.”
“Are you sure Your Highness?” You nod, “is there anything I can get you first?” You glance over at Sif and Bryn but both shake their heads.
“We’re good. Thank you.” He nods again then leaves the three of you in the sitting room.
You read for a couple of hours then head back out to the car and to the airfield. You sleep for most of the flight then take a quick shower and change just before landing. The ride to the palace feels like it’s hours long but when you get there Thor comes bounding out of the building and yanks open your door. You scurry out of the car and into his waiting arms. Thor holds you tightly to him, his chin rests on the top of your head and you let out all the tension you didn’t know you were carrying with a long slow breath.
“I’m so glad you’re home safe Elskede.” He murmurs into your hair.
“I’m glad I’m home too.” You tell him not moving from his embrace as people move around you. “I knew that this was exactly what I needed.” He chuckles softly but doesn’t move, god you’ve never felt so content, so protected, safe and happy.
“We have a meeting with the judge tomorrow then we can go on our trip.” The judge. The annulment. That shouldn’t fill you with so much dread but it does.
“Where are we going?”
“It’s a surprise.” Thor tells you and you can hear the smile in his voice.
“Fine.” You finally release your grip on him then his hand ends up in yours, like it always does, and you head back inside.
“Mother wishes to speak with Doodle.” Loki says as they walks past you with their bodyguard Laufey behind them. “Alone.” They add and your eyes widen.
“I told her what happened with your friend. I hope that’s alright.” Thor tells you as you start for The Queen’s rooms.
“Oh, that’s fine. Do you think that’s why she would want to speak to me?”
“I don’t know. I’ll bring you there. We have a charity event at a hospital tonight, will you be alright to go?” As you make your way toward Frigga’s rooms.
“Yes, I don’t want anyone to think they broke me.”
“You have nothing to prove Elskede.”
“I know. I won’t have them think they won. Besides, you’d be so bored without me.” You tease and he chuckles softly.
“I’ll have some dresses sent for you.”
“Thank you.” You tell him as you come up to Frigga’s door. He nods, presses a kiss to the side of your head then leaves you to his mother.

I tugged my sleeves down for the umpteenth time this morning, hoping that they would stay in their current position, but I knew they wouldn’t. I should’ve just worn a hoodie, but alas, all of mine were dirty, and since I didn’t feel like doing laundry last night, I was stuck with this long sleeved shirt whose sleeves never stayed all the way down my arms, and always found a way to ride up.
“You okay over there?” Jay questioned from where he was seated at his desk across the room.
“I’m fine,” I reply. “It’s just that these stupid sleeves won’t stay down.”
“Just role them up,” Jay proposed. “It’s warm in here.”
“It’s cool,” I insist. “I’ll just deal with it.” Jay hesitated, as if he wanted to say something, but ended up not talking and went back to doing his paperwork. That’s when Kevin and Adam entered the bullpen side by side, both with a cup of coffee in their hands. “Hey, guys. Either of you know when Voight’s gonna be in?”
“Uh, no,” Adam responded. “Why?”
“I need to run a quick errand. Cover for me?” I ask Jay.
Jay nodded. “Sure. Where are you going?”
“I’ve got to run an errand for my dad. I’ll be back soon,” I say quickly and stuff my phone into my pocket before heading for the stairs.
My dad and I have never really been close. I was always closer to my mom, but when I was 16, she passed away from heart failure, leaving my dad to raise me all by himself. That’s when the problems began. My dad started drinking more often, coming home drunk after work. During these times, he would become somewhat aggressive. It was just little things though, like grabbing my arm a bit too rough. I waved it off at first because he was grieving over the love of his life, and I was sure he’d get over it in a few months. Except it never stopped. The drinking continued, not just after work at bars, but at the house too. And the violence didn’t stop either. In fact, it just got worse. Grabbing turned into smacking, and then punching. I thought that when I moved out, things would be different. I wanted to stop going by his house to say hello, but he was the only close family I had left, so I continued stopping by and running errands for him. The abuse didn’t happen as often as before, but when it did, I had to figure out how to hide the bruises, hence me wearing long sleeves and a lot of makeup. It was hard keeping this from the rest of the unit, especially Jay, who was my best friend, but I didn’t want them to think differently of me when they heard about my family life.
The reason for my errand was that my dad wanted a few things from the grocery store, and since he was apparently busy, he asked if I could pick those things up. I didn’t want to because I had work, but because Voight wasn’t in yet, I figured I’d just do it now to stop my dad from bothering me for the rest of the day. So, I left the district and drove to the grocery store, hoping that I could get this done as quick as possible. It didn’t take me long to grab everything my dad needed, including beer. I could’ve just not bought it, but that would make him angry, and I didn’t want to face that at the moment. After loading everything into my car, I made the short drive to my dad’s house.
“Dad! I’m here!” I call out into the house as I stepped inside. To the right was the living room, and behind that was the kitchen. My dad was sitting in the living room on his recliner with the TV on, not doing a single thing, which made me mad because I left work for him, but I pushed those thoughts aside and made my way into the kitchen to set the groceries down.
“What kind of beer did you get?” my dad asked as I headed back into the living room.
“Uh, Budweiser,” I answer.
“I asked for Corona,” my dad spoke.
“Yeah, I know, but I had to be quick cause I have to get back to work, so I just grabbed the first thing I saw,” I explain and fish my keys out of my pocket.
My dad growled and stood up. “So your work is more important than your own father?”
“At the moment, yeah,” I reply. Right after I said that, I immediately regretted it. I could see my father’s face change, and before I could even move, my dad stepped forward and punched me in the face, catching me square in the eye. I cried out in pain and fell to the floor, clutching the side of my face, which was now throbbing. “Dad, please stop,” I beg. But he didn’t stop there and took another step towards me, this time sending a kick straight to my ribs. Pain exploded in my side where the tip of his boot had come in contact with me, but I couldn’t do anything about it. Just before my dad could kick me again, the door to the house was kicked open, and seconds later, Jay and Hailey appeared.
“Hey! Step away from her,” Jay ordered with his gun raised. My father glanced between me and the cops, and decided it was better not to go against their orders, so he took a step back. Hailey didn’t waste any time and handcuffed my father’s hands behind his back, telling him his rights as she led him out to the car.
“J-Jay? What are you doing here?” I croak out and sit up, which sent more pain throughout my body.
“Hailey and I came down to see what was taking you so long, and to tell you that we’ve got no new cases, so Voight gave us the day off. I uh, I saw everything through the window,” Jay mumbled and gestured towards the big glass pane in the wall behind us. “I’m gonna take you to the hospital, okay?”
I shook my head. “N-no. I just want to go home.”
“Well, that’s not going to happen. I’ll bring you back to my place, and then I’ll call Will over to check you over,” Jay said and held out a hand to help me up. I took his hand, allowing him to pull me up, but pain racked my body. “All right. Lets go.” While Hailey used Jay’s truck to get my father back to the district, Jay drove my car back to his apartment. A few minutes after we got there, Will arrived to see if any of my injuries were severe enough to where I would need professional care.
“Your orbital bone isn’t broken, just bruised,” Will informed me as he examined my eye. “Jay also said something about your side.” I nodded and lifted up my shirt so that Will could get a look at my side. A reddish purple bruise had already began to form, and based on it’s size and deep color, I knew it would be there for awhile. Will pressed on the bruise, and I winced in pain, immediately tensing away from his hand. “Sorry. Uh, your ribs don’t look broken either. But you should be careful the next few days so you don’t hurt yourself any more. You should also ice your side and your eye. That’ll help the swelling go down.”
“Thanks, Will,” Jay told his brother, who left seconds later, leaving Jay and I alone in the apartment. I took a seat on the couch, my back resting against the arm rest, and Jay sat down on the opposite side, moving his body so it mirrored mine. For a few moments, we sat in silence, but finally, Jay spoke up. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
I sighed. “What was I going to say, Jay? ‘Oh, hey, just to let you know, I’ve got an abusive father who beats me over the stupidest things?’”
“You could’ve at least talked to Hailey,” Jay put in.
“I know,” I state. “But what kind of friend would I be if I made her relive her own terrible memories?” Again, we were silent for a few seconds, and again, Jay broke that silence.
“How long has this been going on?” Jay questioned.
“Since I was 16,” I reply softly, tears beginning to gather in my eyes. “He wasn’t always like this, but after my mom died, he changed. The beatings, they didn’t start until I was in college, but I think that made them worse.” I took a deep breath and wiped at my eyes, cleaning the tears off of my face. “I-I should’ve said something, should’ve done something. I mean, I’m a cop. I should’ve been able to defend myself, but I just let the beatings happen. I let him hit me.”
“Hey,” Jay murmured and got up from his seat. From there he moved to the seat next to me and placed a comforting hand on my knee. “Don’t blame what he did on you. This isn’t your fault. It was never your fault.”
I sniffled and wiped more tears from my face. “I know, but it’s hard not to think that it is. If anything, I should’ve gone to the unit, or at least talked to you.”
“You’re talking to me now, and that’s all that matters,” Jay confessed and gave me a small smile.
“So, what’s gonna happen to my dad?” I ask.
“He’s uh, he’s going to get jail time. He got charged with assault down at the 21st. It looks like it’ll only be a year or two for him in prison, but I am going to make sure he’s never able to hurt you again. That’s a promise I intend on keeping,” Jay admitted. I smiled and sat up, pushing my legs to the side so that I could lean forward and hug Jay. He squeezed me back tightly, and being in the arms of my best friend gave me the comfort I really needed right now.
“Thank you,” I whisper into his chest. “For everything.”
“You’re my best friend, Y/N. I’d do anything for you. Now, I say we order some takeout and have a movie night. What do you think?” Jay quizzed.
“I think that sounds like a great idea. Lets do it,” I say.
