THEIR LIGHT WILL FIND YOU
We are all full of light.
Light that no-one can actually see,
but we feel it.
We go through life radiating this light,
and shining it on those we love.
And when someone we love leaves, it’s true,
our world really does fall dark.
Because that light source we couldn’t see,
but we felt,
has gone.
And it takes a while,
it takes time for them to settle somewhere else.
But I promise you, that light, it shines on us again.
From somewhere very different.
And we can’t see it but oh, we feel it.
Hold on through that dark period my love,
their light will find you.
And when it does,
it will never go dark again.

YOU’RE THE GHOST
There’s a part of the grieving process,
where your soul kind of leaves your body too.
As though it’s off searching for the one you lost,
somewhere in the ether.
You walk around,
doing all the right things,
putting one foot in front of the other,
living,
but it’s really as though you’re the ghost.
Perhaps you are.
Perhaps your soul searches,
until you find the one you miss,
and they tell you to go back and live.
So, when that numbness passes brave one,
maybe it’s time to do what you are told,
go back and live,
twice as hard.
You don’t belong there in the ether,
nor do you need to search for the one you lost,
they find you.
And when they do, you’ll feel it.

NOBODY TOLD ME
Nobody told me,
how often I would see your face,
then blink and see another instead.
Nobody told me,
that trying to recall the exact sound of your laugh,
would keep me awake at night.
Nobody told me,
that I would reach for my phone so often,
to heartbreakingly put it back down again.
Nobody told me,
that you were my moon and my sun,
my reason and my way,
my morning and my night.
Nobody told me,
that your life would feel like a movie I made up in my head,
that I would seek out others who had seen it too,
just to feel you there for a moment.
Nobody told me that food would lose taste,
that air would lack oxygen,
that I would miss you,
this much.
I miss you,
this much.
Nobody told me.

THE PEACE THEY NOW FEEL
“They’re not angry, those you lost.
Wherever they are.
They’re not bitter, or traumatised by the pain they once felt.
They’re not hoarding regret, nor are they interested in retribution or revenge.
They are at peace.
And if you believe that they watch us, that they flow alongside us in essence, then you can be certain they would wish only for us to feel that peace, they now know.
And their love.
So, if you are feeling any of the painful emotions above, in honour of your loved ones passed over, please, please find a way to release it to the heavens.
They will take it for you and let it go.
They’re not angry, those you lost.
They are at peace.
Let them share with you, the peace they now feel.
It was hard won.”

DON’T MISS ME MORE
Don’t miss me more than once a day,
For life is moving fast.
Don’t wish all of your time away,
Dreaming of the past.
Don’t waste the moment looking at,
The things I left behind me.
I’m not within those walls or boxes
The heart is where you’ll find me.
Don’t dread to say my name, sweet one,
Don’t fear the wrath of sadness.
Just take the love you had for me,
And turn it into gladness.
Don’t worry when my birthday comes
Don’t feel me missing more.
I’m filled with love you’re sending me,
Just as I was before.
Some days your anger will rush out,
Your tears will find their way.
To me, wherever I am then.
I’ll soothe them all away.
When I am gone don’t miss me more,
Than once, or twice a day.
There’s so much life to live, my love.
I’m with you, all the way.

There are so many things I miss The big things and the small The plate left on the settee The tissues that would drive me mad cos they would be left wherever she sat Diva would even purposefully leave one on the settee when she would go back to Uni, cos obviously, I missed picking up after her, and this was done with the intention of helping me feel like she was home The text messages that never came alone, but would arrive with a sound of urgency, often just to tell me that someone was sitting on her seat on the bus, or that a work colleague held the wrong views on the world The things that were just a part of normal, every day life that I never saw coming to an end #Repost @sara_rian_books with @use.repost ・・・ home. my new book 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒐𝒏𝒆 coming soon✨ 𝚋𝚘𝚘𝚔𝚜 𝚊𝚟𝚊𝚒𝚕𝚊𝚋𝚕𝚎 𝚘𝚗 𝙰𝚖𝚊𝚣𝚘𝚗 ♥ 『𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚔 𝚒𝚗 𝚋𝚒𝚘』 #grief #grieving #griefsupport #heartache #normalizegrief #missingyou #griefjourney #loss #lifeafterdeath #loveandloss #lostlovedones #imissyou #losingyou #griefquotes #griefislove #bereaved #bereavement #deathanddying #griefandloss #griefshare #griefpoetry #poetry #writersofinstagram #poetrycommunity #poetsofinstagram #griefclub #poetryofinstagram #griefhealing #grievingdaughter https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSA206sr12/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

How do I live without you?
Oh my love I do not.
You are with me from the moment I open my eyes until they close.
And even after that,
on the plane of dreams where mortals and souls meet,
you are with me still.
“I have not yet learned to live without you,
and perhaps I never will,
the truth of the matter is,
you are always with me still.”
You walked such a blazing pathway, when your feet were on this earth, that your imprint lingers on and I place my own feet in your steps, one by one.
How do I live without you?
It’s really very simple.
I do not.
“I have yet to live without you
perhaps I never will,
perhaps the key to grief is,
you are always with me still.”

Your rage is valid and necessary. None of this is normal. My body feels that, and I will honor the fury it holds. . LOOK UP
When someone so very full of light leaves,
your world feels dark, I know.
But that light they shone,
that light of theirs, is not out.
It doesn’t die.
It moves.
As though the stars themselves plucked it from earth and placed it proudly amongst their constellations to shine alongside them forevermore, bringing hope and guidance to the entire planet.
So when that darkness comes for you…
when that light leaves your world,
I guess what I’m trying to say is,
look up, my friends,
look up.

Eyes like home
Eyes like the ocean
Eyes so distant and dilated
Eyes so sunken and broken
Eyes that use to twinkle so bright
Eyes that once helped me sleep at night
Eyes I will love like no other
Eyes which once belonged to my mother

Loss
The pain of loss is a physical one,
Grief like tidal waves in a tsunami
Screams like thunder in the sky during a tornado
Grief is a storm
A storm that never truly goes away but slowly subsides with time
Grief will haunt you like a ghost on All Hallows Eve
Grief will wrap you up like a lover, promising to never let go if you don’t
Grief is comfort and pity all in one
What grief is not, is permentantly debilitating
Grief is not suffocating forever
Grief will let go of your hand but remain in the background forever waiting to embrace
Grief is dangerous and cunning

“MAYBE PEOPLE DON’T WANT TO STOP GRIEVING…
Maybe they are terrified,
that the grief they feel is the last thing they have left of that person.
That if they move on from the grief,
they will lose the final connection.
The only tie.
Maybe people feel united with their loved one,
in the realm just outside our reality.
United in pain and loss.
Banished to a parallel universe where they can both exist together,
still together.
Maybe that’s just too precious to move on from.
So if you are in this place, or you know someone who is,
maybe you can remind them that they are completely connected to their lost
in so many more wonderful ways than just the loss.
How can they not be?
Inch for inch the pain they feel equals the love they shared.
At the end of the day, it’s all just love.
And there is no need to banish either.
They can exist side by side,
grief and love.
And they do,
every day.”
