characters I headcanon as some variety of aspec

coming from someone who is an aspec lesbian :)

It’s pride month, so I’m finally posting this! small disclaimer that none of this is canon and I am not insisting it is. you can have whatever character interpretations you desire

Ruby Rose (rwby) - canonically hasn’t shown attraction to anyone, definitely ace. I do however, think she may experience romantic attraction

Katniss Everdeen - definitely demisexual, I related so hard to her general disinterest in the love triangle situation. Perhaps demiromantic as well? I just know this girl is on the aro/ace spectrum

Eren Jaeger - tbh I think he’s baffled by the concept and was intentionally ignoring Mikasa’s affections to avoid that confusion. No sexual attraction, but not aromantic. I like to headcanon Eren as biromantic because I feel that he had feelings for both Mikasa and Armin, but that’s up to interpretation

Marella Redek - I just really relate to her keeping track of all the “attractive” boys to head off suspicion. Comphet or whatever. Asexual and biromantic is what I’m going with for her

Claudia (tdp) - I’m just projecting again, apparently she did actually like Callum? I forgot my original reasoning. Anyways, aspec and bi, or whatever orientation you please

Kate Harker - I know they kissed, I do not care. She hasn’t ever shown sexual or romantic attraction towards anyone. It just feels right to me.

August Flynn - again, I know they kissed. I just don’t think there was any sexual or romantic attraction there, just stress and finally breaking down barriers. Is is problematic to headcanon a non-human as aro/ace? Probably, but I don’t care. he is relatable.

Pidge (vld) - she’s the green character, so obviously that means she’s aro. I never got into the fandom, so let me know if there are any interesting gender headcanons for Pidge!

Merida - a literal aroace (arrow ace)! Related so hard to her disgust at the idea of marriage. I love lesbian headcanons for her too

Spensa Nightshade - demisexual! she’s purple, do I need more proof? The way her crushes are written in Skyward just feel different from descriptions I’ve read in other books. Like, they’re only romantic.

Also, shout out to Lilith Clawthorne and Yelena Belova for being canonically aroace characters! I’m very happy that we’re starting to get some rep :)

Soooo, I’ve come to a bit of a realization.

I’ve been trying to figure out why I couldn’t write and I believe I got it.

I really do love Klance, it is 100% a comfort ship for me and I like indulging in the art and the fanfics out there and I also loved writing Over the Biomes. It’s one of my personal favorites other than Empire.

But I think writing romance is a bit too challenging for me because I might be a little bit aromantic, maybe. I don’t know how to build up those scenes really or how to intermingle it with the plot. And from what I’ve learned, the plot is super important to me when I’m writing my own fanfics. It’s like my top three of writing and even reading. I like reading fics with multiple chapters and really getting into the Universe being created.

Rewatching Voltron so far, I also got really excited at the relationships built between Keith and Pidge or Keith and Shiro and so on and so forth. I just love growing the friendships and creating found family.

So, until I come up with an idea for another Klance-centric fic that works with me and makes me happy, I’m gonna do a little mix of gen and m/m. Explicitly Aro/Ace Keith and explicitly Gay Keith if you will. (Definitely not a self insert, it’s not because I’m gay + possibly aro/ace no not at all)

Basically when i was sixteen I'd been hearing about asexuality and it was starting to make more and more sense. I was thoroughly convinced i was straight though, so i didn't really realize that i was ace until i learned that someone could be ace and alloromantic at the same time. Then, learning about aro labels started making me question if i was het at all, and i realized i was probably aro when i heard the label cupio-

However, dating b last year and p this year and having confusing feelings about multiple people has started to get me wondering, so I'm loosely settling somewhere on the aro spectrum but also biromantic, because I'm pretty sure gender isn't a factor in who i like

Oh man, so many. Every character in Voltron of course. Bi king Lance, gay Keith, pan Hunk and Allura, trans ace lesbian Pidge (trans Keith and trans Lance and grab everyone are also wonderful hcs! I don't usually hc them as trans but anyone who says they are is right!), canon gay Shiro my beloved, gay Coran. All the main characters in avatar too, sorry i don't make the rules. Will Byers from stranger things is definitely gay or aroace (I've only seen the first ep of the new season, so idk if that's been confirmed yet, but i bet i would have heard about it if it was so I'm betting not yet). Literally Every character in Jujutsu Kaisen, there's not a single cishet in that entire cast there's no way. Listen. Trans Yuuji, trans Suguru, trans Yuuta. I'm stopping now but you see where I'm going with this

Collar Kisses #6 (?)

Something happens where the only way to get Lance to wake up/heal Lance is for someone who romantically loves him to preform whatever ceremony or something. He got sprayed by some sort of flower like the dummy (affectionate) he is.

All the paladins are in a panic, and Keith is internally debating it himself, but deep down he knows the answer and is just delaying the inevitable. So while they’re all panicking, Keith takes whatever he has to take to do the ritual thing (a kiss?), and all the paladins just stare at him as it works.

What they don’t know is that the only way for the spell or whatever to wear off is for the person being kissed/whatever to return the feelings.

So now all the paladins know about Keith’s pining (except Lance, because if Lance knew then Keith wouldn’t be pining) and it’s a bit awkward at first, but it’s all fine. The thing is, everyone thinks Lance doesn’t reciprocate Keith’s feelings, when in reality, he’s just really good at hiding his crush unless people know, then it’s obvious (one of my favorite tropes.)

One day, they go back to that planet and the aliens accidentally reveal the real reason Lance was saved, because they assumed they had gotten together by now, and Lance goes “but who…” until his eyes land on Keith, hopeful.

But Keith doesn’t know it’s hopeful, so he panics when he thinks Lance had figured it out. So, he runs, and that’s basically all the confirmation Lance needs before he tries to run after him and scream Keith’s name.

He’s stopped by Shiro, who says to give Keith time, and Hunk and Pidge stand there too, Hunk looking a bit guilty and Pidge being like a steel wall.

Lance is so confused, until Pidge says something like, “give him time, he doesn’t need a rejection right now.”

Lance literally stares at all of them and goes “what?!” He breaks out of Shiro’s grip and starts sprinting, and when the team calls out he goes “how could I not love him?!”

More Keith POV now, he’s running through the forest of an alien planet, part of the area that’s not charted so his map is useless, until he falls. After he tripped, he hears the sound of footsteps, and tries to get back up, but Lance come through the forest faster than Keith could run, and basically tackles him.

There’s a dramatic love confession with a lot of screaming and tears, and they both just stop to stare at each other for a bit, the only sound surrounding them the quiet calls of an animal native to the planet.

And then Lance let’s out a disbelieving laugh, and pulls Keith in by his armor collar to kiss him. It’s a bit messy, desperate, but it’s also languid and loving. Most of all, /it’s them/, and they wouldn’t give it up for the world.

It always cracks me up when people in the Voltron fandom argue that Keith must be gay because he never shows any interest in girls because... like... with the exception of Lance (and arguably Hunk toward Shay), literally no one on the team shows the slightest interest in romance with anyone.

#take off your shipping goggles and honestly #Shiro? Allura? Pidge?#when have we seen any of them seem remotely romantically interested in anyone #plot twist: everybody on the team is aro-ace #shipping wars officially DONE we can all go home #(I am kidding but honestly though #it's weird everyone fixates so much on Keith's lack of interest in romance #when honestly that makes him the norm and not the exception with these characters)#(I think at this point everybody's sexuality is up for debate #except Lance liking girls unless you assume he's trying way too hard to overcompensate or something)

Idk who’s gonna see this,

BUT HEY FANFIC WRITERS! Your work is some of my favourite shit.

I love reading but can’t bring myself to drag away from my fav characters to try and get into something new. Reading takes time and I have no patience, at least tv can play in the background.

That said, I find far to few fics about my favourite characters! And the ones I do find aren’t the type I’m looking for ( I’m looking at you, ‘trans character smut’ fics)

Could more people write about ‘That Character’ ™, you know the one, where they aren’t in it enough to be a Main character but are too important to be a side character? They are almost always the most interesting, unique story plots as they view things from the side, and being almost side characters, often don’t talk much, which means one thing: Angst Potential.

Some beautiful examples:

Marcy (Amphibia)

This child, that season 2 finally, hoo boy, if you like Owl House, you’ll love this. She is perfect angst potential, and I’d love to see more about her, but there are NO Marcy fics, least on AO3. Please, Fix This

Goemon Ishikawa XIII (Lupin the 3rd)

He actually has quiet a few fics, and I’ve read most of them because I love this babe. But a lot of them are about the Romantic side of him, and thus tend to lead to...other places 😳. I want someone to take him and break him like the show wouldn’t dare do. Personally, I headcannon as Ace, and maybe Aro, if not Aro, then BiRomantic. So that would definitely lead places. As for other opportunities, show him be confronted with everything he’s done, make him doubt himself (especially after that Part 5 Finally) I wanna see the boy become undone (and not like that!)

Pidge (Voltron: Legendary Defender)

What can I say? Gender struggles (personal headcannon: Enby), sexuality struggles (personal headcannon: Ace lesbian), family shit, found family shit, self worth, climbing out of that depression we know she had, the list for ma babe goes on. Do something about it!

Luka, Adrien, Marc (Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug)

Starters: “But Adrien’s a Main Character!” No, no he’s not. I’d love him to be, and he is growing to be, but at the moment, he really isn’t. Chat Noir is, Adrien isn’t.

These are in the same boat. I love all of them, but they don’t have a lot of fan fics, which is upsetting. Marc has a few, but none so much as I can remember them, so...ye. They each have struggles; Adrien with home life and hiding depression (obvi) Luka with being ignored, left out, forgotten to the side (plz, he can be as nice as he wants, but knowing Mari doesn’t love him like that totally gutted him) and Marc definitely isn’t Cis or Straight, plus social anxiety. Take it from there folks.

Anyways, you get the gist from there, I’m sure you can find ‘That Character’ ™ in what ever show you’re watching right now. Write about them! (And by that I mean break them, then put them back together with some TLC)

Apologies, I've been busy with last chapter's reviews!

Wowza, that's a huge ask - I've made a conscious effort to normalize LGBTQIA+ identities in my stories, so there's a lot of ground to cover here! There's also a minor issue in that most of the current stories are set in 2012, which is quite a different landscape in regards to the acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community compared to nowadays.

With that in mind, I'll try to go for the "ideal" celebration (and I'll throw in the characters' gender identities and sexual preferences, since I've already got those in my ongoing character database). Obviously, this only applies to the characters as portrayed in the Kryptonverse!

(This is a long one, so I'll add a "read more" thingy for the sake of those who aren't interested.)

- I think Luz would take Pride Month as an opportunity to more overtly explore her gender noncomformity; much like was showcased in the Grom episode, she might try on different outfit combinations, different pronouns - whatever makes her feel closer to her ideal self. I think her stint in the Boiling Isles would only make it that much clearer how truly silly it is for other people to try and dictate what she should look or behave like. Luz currently identifies as a bisexual, cisgender woman, but she has found comfort in identifying as nonbinary in the past, and there's really no telling how she might feel in the future.

- Kryptonian society had a great many issues, but a resistance towards gender variance and non-heterosexual preferences wasn't one of them - as long as you followed the strict life path set up for you by the Empire, of course. Kara is still confused about the human attitudes towards this subject, and angry that they affected Alex and Lena negatively in their youth. I think she'd celebrate Pride Month by pushing the Avengers to champion causes that protect the LGBTQIA+ community - not that they need much convincing. Think parades, lobbying for legislation, impassioned speeches, and million-dollar donations to worthy charities - whatever it takes to make sure people know where their heroes stand on this issue. Kara is a pansexual cisgender woman, Alex and Lena are lesbian cisgender women, Tony is a pansexual cisgender man, Steve is a (closeted) bisexual cisgender man, Natasha is an aromantic, bisexual, cisgender woman, Clint is a biromantic, heterosexual, cisgender man, and Rhodey and Bruce are both heterosexual, cisgender men (the Hulk himself is pansexual though).

- Not that Ben was against it before, of course, but I think gaining the ability to swap bodies (and genders, depending on the transformation) at will would give him a much greater appreciation for people who suffer from dysmorphia or otherwise don't gel with the body they were born with. I think he'd champion trans causes specifically during Pride Month - much to the anger of his parents, both conservative politicians. Ben is a bisexual, cisgender man, Julie is a bisexual, cisgender woman, Kevin is a heterosexual, cisgender man, and Gwen is a (currently questioning) bisexual, cisgender woman.

- It's kind of a spoiler to talk at length about Chloé's relationship with her own preferences. Suffice it to say, she would be very much opposed to Pride celebrations initially, but may or may not radically change her attitude as her journey goes on. Chloé is a lesbian, cisgender woman. Adrien is a bisexual, cisgender man (with GNC tendencies as he grows up), and Marinette is a bisexual, cisgender woman.

- Nico obviously didn't grow up in an environment conducive to the acceptance of his being gay. I think there's still a lot of internal self-loathing there, even as his boyfriend and his friends have greatly helped to coax him away from it, and that might manifest as his reluctance to participate in Pride celebrations. I think once he's convinced to attend a Pride parade once, though, it would make a world of difference going forward! Nico is a gay, cisgender man.

- Ellie has never given much thought to her own identity or preferences. She's felt attracted to all kinds of people, but never enough to want to act on it. It's possible that she's aro/ace, or somewhere on that spectrum, but even that feels like an ill-fitting piece of clothing. She is fiercely protective of Danny, though; poking fun or attacking him for being trans is a surefire way to make her go all out against you. She'll happily celebrate Pride with Danny and friends, too. Ellie doesn't currently subscribe to any romantic or sexual preference, but does identify as a cisgender woman. Valerie is a bisexual, cisgender woman. Danny is a heterosexual, transgender man.

- Pidge used to comfortably identify as a straight, cis woman, but her stint as Pidge Gunderson and the subsequent massive expansion of her knowledge of gender identities and sexual preferences due to her travels as a Paladin of Voltron have let her more solidly (ironically) identify as genderfluid and pansexual. She'd have a blast teaching Allura and Coran all about Earth Pride celebrations, and I'm sure she's eager to teach the people of Earth just how little they know about what's out there. Pidge is a genderfluid, pansexual individual (identified as female during Close Encounters, but don't let that fool you!).

- Saiyans have a weird relationship with gender and sexual preference. The average Saiyan is mostly free to do and be whatever the f*ck they want in this regard, but there is definitely a culture of male superiority, and a stigma towards trans Saiyan men, specifically - it's seen by traditionalists as "women trying to rise above their station", much in the same way as marrying between Saiyan classes is scorned. Caulifla and Kale don't have that kind of baggage, though, growing up on Xandar - their dithering about being with each other is just your classic awkward teenage romance, nothing to do with their both being women. Caulifla and Kale both identify as lesbian, cisgender women.

- Dipper may be a straight man, but he's the best damned ally you could hope for - fiercely protective of his pansexual twin and bisexual girlfriend. He's got every opposing argument memorized, and a counterargument ready to go - you do not want to debate him, and he will track your ass down if he catches you trolling/hating online. Mabel becomes even more of a living vortex of glitter and gloss during Pride - sweeping away the more muted Tulip, who'll happily settle for a little bisexual flag pin or sticker on her computer. Hard not to find Mabel's enthusiasm infectious, though! Dipper is a heterosexual, cisgender man, Mabel is a pansexual, cisgender woman, and Tulip is a bisexual, cisgender woman.

What are your Top 20 NoTPs?

Now this is going to be harder for me, as I don't actively ping when I'm avoiding a ship... but there are a few that I can think of. Let's see if I can make 20...

1) Katsuki Bakugou x Izuku Midoriya - As a victim of bullying, I do not like this one for many reasons. 2) Draco Malfoy x Hermione Granger - No offense, but did we read the same series? 3) Draco Malfoy x Harry Potter - Combine 1 and 2. 4) Twilight Sparkle x Spike the Dragon - Just... no. 5) Ochako Uraraka x Katsuki Bakugou - This would get volatile and fast. 6) Minete Minoru x Class 1-A girls - He is not ready for a relationship with another human being, and frankly I think he's blown his chances for romance with them. 7) Takashi 'Shiro' Shirogane x Katie 'Pidge Gunderson' Holt - On top of the imbalance in power being the superior officer, I've always gotten more of an older siblings vibe. 8) Hiccup x Toothless the Dragon - I wish I could say that I was joking that I've seen this one. 9) Jack Frost x Pitch Black - As much as I enjoy a good enemies to lovers... these two just don't do it for me. 10) Kylo Ren x Rey Skywalker - There are a lot of things wrong with this ship, and let's start with the abusive interactions rage boy has... 11) Tanya Mousekewitz x Fievel Mousekewitz - They are siblings. They are a wonderful pair of characters with a great bond that is tested multiple times throughout the movies. But they are siblings. Somewhere Out There... you led far too many people down the wrong path. 12) Lila Rossi x Adrien Agreste - She annoys me, and the predatory nature of the way she pursues Adrien rubs me the wrong way. 13) Paksenarrion Dorthansdotter x any - This was one of the few aro ace characters I've ever seen in published works. And to be honest, I think any romance would detract from her character because it wouldn't be genuine, the closest is to Saben, but that was always... different... 14) Shouta Aizawa x Any of his students - the power dynamic of having an adult in a position of authority, and a child under them. Coupled with Aizawa always striking me as being in a committed relationship with his sleeping bag. 15) Rapunzel x Mother Gothel - This is a horrible ship, full of emotional manipulation. 16) Gamzee Makara x Terezi Pyrope - This is an unhealthy, destructive ship and You know it. 17) Kankri Vantas x Porrim Maryam - I think it's mostly cause I dislike him, and like Porrim. 18) Dirk Strider x Jake English - I will not go into a rant about the emotional manipulation, physical abuse, and stalker like tendencies of the control freak... 19) Hans Westergaard x Anna of Arrendelle - Obvious reasons. 20) Drew "Drakken" Lipsky x Shego - She can do so much better.

u know what really confuses me? i’m pretty sure literally all the main vld characters could be autistic coded but for some reason keith is the one i notice the most anti autistic ableism against?? like… what’s up with that
