Chapter 2 (4k words)
You don’t sleep at all that night, your mind is spinning and a part of you knows that all the drinks you had were finally catching up to you. Your eyes scan the ceiling, deciding to focus on the small dent you had accidentally left there in hopes to get your mind to still. You couldn’t believe what you had read. McLaren? Out of all teams? A part of you even wants to laugh, because of course this would happen to you.
You pick up your phone again, read over the email again, and again, and again. How were the words not changing? How were you supposed to join a team knowing Carlos was going to be there? What were you going to do?
A weird mix of emotions settle in your chest. Happiness, excitement, nervousness, pride, and even anger- and maybe a little sadness. You had dreamt about this opportunity for as long as you could remember. Why were you so worried about so many things?
There was one main question drumming in your head, what would happen if you took it?
You ponder at that thought for what feels like hours, but soon enough your eyes begin to grow heavy. As worried as you were, your body was beginning to shut down, begging to finally get some rest.
Right before you drift off to sleep you think to yourself still,
What am I going to do?
_____________
The next day you wake up with the sleep still sticking to your eyes. You had managed to get some sleep, but you didn’t feel like you had gotten enough rest. Your eyes were heavy and your body was sore from the night before. You try your best to settle yourself back to sleep but the moment you close your eyes your mind decides otherwise.
Thoughts of an orange team flood your brain along with a certain driver, but before you can start thinking too much a knock on the door rips your attention away.
“Y/n? I’m coming in,” Your roommate announces. You let out a loud groan, telling her to go away, but before you can even finish your sentence you hear your door open and feel a strong weight on your bed. Soon enough you’re being crushed, your roommate’s body sprawled over yours.
“Oh come on- fuck off, get off of me,” you whine as you hear Jane laugh and shift a bit to lay beside you instead. Being awake for so long helps you notice the soft pressure in the center of your head that slowly begins to spread. Yeah, you were definitely hungover.
“You smell gross,”Jane says, soon getting inside the covers with you. She feels warm and you can’t help but scoot closer. “You never wanna go out and party with me but you do with Laura,” She says playfully. “But you had fun? Laura told me a guy came home with you.”
And fuck- right. You had forgotten about Bastien. “A guy? Yeah yeah, he dropped me off last night. He asked me out on a date.” You tell her, and you can feel a slight swoop in your stomach still. “I’m actually excited?” You’re a bit nervous at the thought of it. It was rare for you to get excited about these things- let alone to say it outloud.
Jane grins. “You’re excited for a date? Am I hearing you right?” She asks and you can already feel your cheeks heating up so you try your best to look away and come off as casual.
“He’s really cute and nice. But he told me he’s just here visiting a friend and looking for jobs so it might not even go anywhere.” You say with a shrug. You wondered if it was weird or not but you felt that it was a bit reassuring to not know where it was going to go, like there weren’t many expectations going into it. If he wasn’t going to be around anyways it would be fine if it didn’t work out.
Jane’s asking when the date is and she is quite surprised by your answer, “The date’s tonight,” You say before explaining, “but we didn’t agree on the time. Should I text him and ask?”
The look Jane gives you almost makes you laugh. “No, are you crazy?” She exclaims and you wince at how loud she is being, suddenly remembering about the headache that is spreading through your head.
“Wait for him to text you, and if he doesn’t then his loss you know?,” She says, getting off the bed. You think for a second, and yeah, maybe she is right. You could wait and see if he would show up or not.
“Where are you going?” You ask, peering over the sheets to look at her. As much as you needed it you did not want time by yourself to think about things.
“Oh I’m coming back, I’m just getting you some painkillers and water,” she says matter of factly and you return her kindness with a smile.
“Love you!” You say as you watch her head out of the door.
_____________
Bastien does end up texting back, and you both go out to dinner that night. It’s nice, the conversation is casual and you both realize it wasn’t just the alcohol talking the night before. You’re a bit too smitten for your liking but you try your best to ignore it.
He offers to drive you home but by the way he holds the lower of your back you both know it isn’t just for a drive. It’s thrilling really, to sneak someone upstairs again- begging them to be quiet to not wake up your roommate (because of course you wouldn’t hear the end of it). But you both get away with it, and waking up next to someone the next day makes it even more worth it.
It wasn’t really supposed to become a thing but it does. Bastien had told you over your date that he was only around for the next two weeks. Mainly a mix of hanging out and catching up with friends along with job interviews and looking over other opportunities. You prep yourself for disappointment, tell yourself that it is a one and done, but that’s far from what ends up happening.
You see him almost every day, he would either drop by with lunch, dinner, or even a coffee to just squeeze some extra time with you. You would let him sneak into yours at night and he would often pick you up to give Laura a break and stay at his. It’s like you were floating on cloud 9. He meets your friends and you meet some of his. Everything is new, fresh, and exciting.
So much happens that you don’t even realize you’re in your own little bubble.
But every bubble is bound to burst.
It happens to you a whole week after you take Bastien to the airport (with the promise of keeping in touch and seeing eachother soon). Your mind is still preoccupied with him- you both were still texting practically every day- and if you knew any better you were practically dating. But were you really?
Sure you were practically attached to the hip the whole time you were here, and sure he was texting you good morning, good night, and everything else between the day. But were you really dating?
There were so many questions still that you had completely forgotten about your upcoming semester. The internship. Your mind suddenly springs. You were sitting at the table with Laura and a few other people in your major when Theo mentions how he had just accepted the offer he had gotten over a week ago. You had completely forgotten about your own offer and it had been over 3 weeks since you had gotten your email.
“Shit- shit, no way.” You murmur to yourself as you open your phone. Most of the table is distracted in their own conversation but you can feel Laura and one or two other pairs of eyes scanning over you in interest as you scroll through your phone. How could you be so stupid and forget about it? You read through your emails quickly, scrolling through and looking for the email that had sent you the offer.
You finally see the latest email that you had gotten from them. Your heart sinks as your phone loads, already dreading what the email would say.
It finally loads and you take a deep breath before reading.
F1 Talent Program Offer: 3 days to Deadline. | Received: 2d ago
One day left to decide. You let out a nervous laugh as you run your hand through your hair, letting out a shaky breath. Could you even make a choice within a day?
“What are you looking at?” Laura huffs, leaning next to you to read over your shoulder. She practically lets out a gasp before looking at you, eyes wide. “Y/n! Oh my god. You did it!” She says and before you know it you feel two arms wrapped around you and squeezing you tight and knocking the air out of you.
“What’s going on, what happened?” You hear one of your classmates ask. Laura chimes in before you can, and you can hear the pride in her voice as she announces it.
“She got accepted for the engineering talent program for F1!” She says proudly and you force a smile onto your lips as you can hear everyone gasp. Soon the table is congratulating you and you thank everyone quite sheepishly. As much as you wanted to get mad at Laura you could tell how happy she was for you.
You try your best to smile it off, not wanting to seem ungrateful for the opportunity  but you can tell Laura knows something is off. You feel a grip on your shoulder before you realise Laura is pulling you step aside for a bit. You stumble a bit to follow her and go to ask if everything is okay but Laura beats you to it.
“So? What’s wrong? You should be exhilarated about this- bragging left and right.” Laura says, already crossing her arms across her chest. Four years of friendship and you are still amazed with how well she can read you.
“I am happy, I am.” You try your best to say convincingly but the look Laura gives you says enough. “No- seriously I am. I can’t believe I got it. You know how hard I worked for this?” You say, and its true. All the hard work you had put in the past years was for this moment. The sleepless nights before an exam, the being away from family to be able to study at the best school, missing out on parties to be able to get enough sleep for class, even the endless nights crying when everything became too much. It was all for this moment.
“But?” Laura asks, and she can tell that you are thinking too much. You tend to do that thing where your nose twitches slightly, whenever your brain begins to eat itself from the inside out and let the worries settle in.
“I got accepted into McLaren.” You tell her quietly because it's embarrassing to say it outloud. Embarrassing to admit to yourself how much Carlos still had a hold of you.
Her brows furrow slightly and she gives you a shrug. “So?”
You frown at her. Although she was not into racing you were pretty sure you had kept her updated with where Carlos would be going within the upcoming season. “I told you. Carlos is going to join McLaren. What if I have to see him? Talk to him? Work with him?” You say, this time even more quietly but just because you can feel your other friends trying to snoop and look over to you both.
“Again, so?” Laura asks, and this time she shakes her head and takes your hands into hers. “Y/n, look at me.” She says, squeezing your hands gently. “You’ve been dreaming about this since before I met you.” Her voice is soft yet firm, and somehow you feel your chest begin to swell. “Do not let someone from the past scare you away from your future. You have to take this opportunity y/n.”
You stare at her for a bit, letting out a shaky breath. Your heart is beating in your ears because she is right. You have been dreaming about this for ages. You pull her into a tight hug, tucking your face into her shoulder.
“Thank you.” You say, already feeling part of the weight on your shoulders slowly lifting. You slowly pull away, smiling at her from ear to ear. “Come over to mine? I need to send in my acceptance.”
_____________
Accepting the offer was less dreadful than you thought, taking into account that you weren’t starting the internship after your graduation. But time flew by faster than you thought it would.
The months between accepting the offer and starting at McLaren were eventful. Looking back, you had too many exams, too much stress, and simply too much to do. You were grateful though that you got to enjoy some of the last months with your friends before you all headed to do different things. Not only were you able to finish all your academic requirements but you had finally decided to pay more attention to your personal life too.
You finally caught up and partied with the girls, had more days out with them, and just enjoyed your time without worrying too much about your next lecture, class, or exam. It was relaxing to finally be able to let go a bit and have fun. Not only that- but Bastien came to visit often too. Before you even realized everybody already knew that the both of you were dating, but by the time you found out you didn’t really mind either. You both worried about the distance considering your internship and how he was still traveling around looking for a job whilst freelancing- but you both figured with a little faith you could make it work.
Even graduation passed by like a breeze. Your parents and your sister flew in and soon enough you were already packing your things into boxes and luggages. Half of your things were being shipped back home as you could not take them around with you so you were definitely forced to pack light.
And that’s how you ended up there. Staring at the McLaren headquarters, nervously fixing one of the bracelets on your wrist as you waited outside. You had been one of the first few to arrive, but to be fair you had arrived a bit earlier than the agreed time. You couldn’t help but look around, the office was bigger than you thought, along with the large lake adorning the side of the building, it looked amazing and you were trying your best to keep yourself composed without taking photos of everything. You had seen the McLaren headquarters a lot through photos and videos- but this was the first time you were anywhere near it- let alone about to step in. As you looked around more people seemed to trickle in. The others seemed to also be amazed by the site, scanning over the whole area. Even the surroundings were nice and peaceful, vast greenery covering the whole area and more. Soon you heard the automatic doors open alongside a pair of footsteps.
“Hi, welcome! I’m Andrea. Sorry for the wait.” A woman said, waving at you all. She was wearing a McLaren polo shirt along with black slacks. “Come in, I’ll take you to one of our presentation rooms and we can kick off with some introductions. We’ll have our basic induction and onboarding before handing you off to your own departments and managers.” She announced, eyes meeting yours quickly as she also smiled and looked at everyone else. You can’t help but have a voice in the back of your head telling you to keep an eye out for a certain spanish man. You were absolutely dreading bumping into him.
The ceilings seem even taller from the inside, and the glass walls allow natural light to fill the building. You look around as you follow Andrea, appreciating the clean and modern design the building had adopted. “Here, come in.” Andrea says, soon opening the door to a medium sized auditorium with a powerpoint slide already splayed on the screen.
The onboarding goes by smoothly and you all introduce yourselves one by one. You’re a bit nervous since you introduce yourself first, but you get through it quickly before others follow up with their own introduction. After going through almost half of the room you soon learn there are three other interns from other departments also joining and you relax a bit knowing you were all in a similar situation. A bit after the introductions you all go through some general knowledge about McLaren, learning about the values and the mission of the company. After a few more fun facts you’re all sent off with your own managers who are waiting outside at the door.
“Y/n?” A man asked, stepping closer to you. You turn and smile once you see a tall man with short black hair.
“Hi yes, that’s me. It’s nice to meet you.” You say with a smile, putting your hand out for a handshake. He takes this moment to introduce himself.
“Hi, perfect! My name is Tom. Welcome to the team.” He says before pulling his hand away. He nods slightly towards the direction you both are supposed to go to before explaining the day’s run down. “We’ll take these first few weeks for you to look over the systems we use, learn more about them, and get familiar with them. We can analyze past data and see how you interpret it compared to our previous interpretations.” You nodded along as you followed him, already getting excited as he also told you more about the team.
“We will also have an event later tonight with everyone, just a few welcoming drinks. You don’t have to show up but it would be nice and good for you to socialize with everyone too.” Tom smiles as he opens the door to one of the rooms. Something from the corner of your eyes captures your attention but once you look over it's gone. You look back ahead of you and take a deep breath before stepping in.
_____________
You’re barely there for a full working day and your brain is fried. Numbers were printed into the inner corners of your brain and you had learned so much that you weren’t sure if you had enough space to store it all. Despite your exhaustion and the overload of information you were buzzing. You could already feel your fingers twitching, ready to get your hands on something and to help out. They had explained to you that the first few weeks were a bit hands-off, focusing on getting you settled in and learning mostly the theory behind it all but you felt like you couldn’t wait. So much was happening around you and you wanted to do something more.
“I think we have our welcoming drinks in a bit. How about we head out there and you can meet some people from the other departments?” Tom offers and you thank him, already following him with a few other newcomers that had joined the team too. You had made friends with a woman who had recently joined too, Cara, as you both were one of the few women within the engineering team, so you stuck to her side as you all trickled into the room.
“I think I’m going to nib a few snacks.” You say, already nodding at Cara, so you both decide to walk together to the table with several snacks. You grab a small plate and a few of the snacks, waiting for Cara to grab something for herself too. Once you’re back to Tom and the others you set your plate on the table, “I grabbed a bit extra, just in case anybody wanted a bite too.” You smile. Tom seems to look over the plate, already ready to fish a sandwich off your plate when you see two figures coming over, and one seems a bit too familiar. You tense a little and instantly grow quiet, already looking away before even making sure if you had seen the right thing or not.
“Tom! Hey, how are you?” Zak says, grinning as he pats Tom on the back. You’re torn between looking over or keeping your eyes away, but as soon you hear the other person’s voice you screw your eyes shut, already feeling your heartbeat race.
“Hello Tom, Zak told me we had new people starting. Decided to drop by since we’re gonna be working together a lot no?” And you don’t even need to look over to know who’s voice it is. You can’t tell if there’s a knot in your throat or the food is coming back up because you start to feel a bit sick. Your legs twitch to get up, but your brain is screaming not to run. Not in front of your new manager, and even worse the CEO of your company.
You quietly look over, already feeling your palms get clammy. Zak and Carlos look so focused on Tom that you realize they had barely looked over to the rest of the group, but Tom decides to change this. “Yeah- yeah. Everyone here’s new. Wanted to get them to mingle a bit.” He says, soon turning to you all. Zak and Carlos look towards you all, smiling. A part of you wonders if he doesn’t recognize you but you notice the moment that he does.
He freezes a bit and blinks, eyes locked on yours and you quickly look away, breaking eye contact. Tom and Zak don’t even notice, not until Cara approaches Carlos, who barely reacts as he shakes her hand. As Carlos is, he quickly recovers and composes himself, apologizing before introducing himself.
“So this is Cara, she is our new Junior Aero Engineer, she worked quite a bit in the W League and in the F2 series,” Tom says. Carlos manages to make some eye contact but you can feel his eyes shift from her to you but you try not to look back at him. After three more introductions Tom shifts the attention to you.
You force yourself to look this time and you bite the inside of your cheek to remain calm. You can see Carlos is about to say something, but he struggles to find the words. His eyes are a bit all over the place, and his nose is twitching the way it does whenever he’s nervous. The tension is suddenly visible in the group and all eyes are on you both.
“Do you know each other?” Zak asks, deciding to be the one to break the silence.
“Actually,” Carlos starts.
“No- no we don’t.” You casually laugh, and what? You were meant to stay quiet. But what were you supposed to do? Let Carlos tell not only Tom, but also Zak, and the rest of the team that you used to what, date? A part of you realizes, maybe he was going to say friends. But it was too late now. “My name is y/n. Nice to meet you” You say, and you can tell Carlos’ demeanor instantly changes. His back straightens and he quickly plasters on the tight lipped smile you used to hate. “I’m,” You stutter a bit when he holds your hand to shake it,  “I’m the new Engineer Intern.” and you can tell he’s upset. His eyes are cold as he locks eyes with you again. This time you can’t look away.
“Carlos.” He says shortly. It pierces through you like a knife. “Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too,” You murmur.
You feel a pool of instant regret settling in your stomach as he turns his back towards you and goes to greet the other new starters.
What had you gotten yourself into?

Not What I Expected Ch3
It's Autumn in 1985 and Eddie is being harassed because he sold weed to the wrong girl.  Steve is still trying to get over Nancy and might have found the one person that can help him achieve that goal. Meanwhile, Robin has some secret romantic intentions of her own.
Pre Season 4 and not canon compliant with season 4

AO3
Fuck fuck fuck fuck
Steve wasn’t supposed to like boys. He wasn’t supposed to want to kiss boys. He wasn’t supposed to kiss Eddie.
He’d hidden in the basement for an hour, panicking. His head was a buzzing mess, filled with Eddie and the feel of his lips and how wrong it was to want him. Admitting to himself that he’d wanted to do that, dreamt of it every night for weeks.
When he’d finally calmed himself enough to function again, he grabbed the aspirin he’d promised Eddie. He was already asleep when he crept into the room, or at least was pretending to be. Steve set the pills and a glass of water on his bedside table and then retreated to the guest room. He pretended that the sight of Eddie in his bed hadn’t made him dizzy and pretended that he hadn’t seen his jeans discarded on the floor.
When Steve woke the next morning, Eddie was gone. No note, no sign he’d even been there other than the rumpled covers and the first aid kit still sitting on the desk. Steve collapsed down on his bed, Eddie’s scent wafting up from the sheets as he did. What was he going to do?
**
“I think I might like Eddie.” Steve said in a low voice. Not that it mattered, the store was empty aside from a few people by the back wall.
“What?” Robin faked surprise. “I had no idea.”
“Ok, stop with the ‘I told you so’ bullshit. I am freaking out here, Robin.” He put his elbows on the countertop and dropped his head in his hands.
“Steve, it’s ok.” She said, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
“It is not ok. Nothing about this is ok. He is a guy.”
“So?”
“So! I like girls. I’ve only ever liked girls! Now suddenly I like guys!” He was whispering but his voice kept raising like he couldn’t control it.
“No, you like one guy. You’re Eddie-sexual.”
“That’s not funny.”
“Sorry, sorry. Look, you like Eddie but it’s fine, he’s totally gay.”
“What?”
“Yea, you didn’t pick up on that?”
“You think everyone is gay.”
“Not true, I just have an impeccable gaydar.”
Steve gave her a look that said he thought she was an idiot and she just smiled right back. He sometimes wondered how he had ended up with Robin as his best friend. Yes, he loved her. But she drove him crazy most days. If anything, she was more like an annoying little sister.
“So, what are you going to do about it?” She asked, leaning on the counter beside him.
“About what?”
“Your totally obvious crush.”
“I may have…already kissed him.”
“What!?” Robin’s voice was a high pitched, shocked and amused shriek followed by a giddy laugh. “When did this happen!?” She’d never been so interested in his love life before. Sure, she’d taken part in conversing about hot babes, but never got this excited about his interactions with them.
“Two nights ago.”
“Two-? And you didn’t tell me sooner?”
“I was processing things.”
Robin made a sound somewhere between a sigh and a scoff and stared down at the counter, her mouth hanging open. “What did he do?” She turned her eyes back to Steve.
“He kissed me back. And then I pushed him away and ran and he left the next morning, and I haven’t seen him since.”
“Is that why he wasn’t at school yesterday?”
“Maybe. Or because Jason beat the shit out of him.”
“What?!” She shrieked again.
“You have got to stop doing that.”
“Ok, ok you need to start from the beginning.”
Steve sighed and walked to the back area of the counter as if that gave them more privacy. He leaned back against the wall, his head smacking lightly against it as he stared at the ceiling.
“Last night he had detention and I said I’d pick him up late.”
“I’m sorry, you went out of your way to pick him up late and you still didn’t realize you liked him?”
“I was just trying to be nice. Anyway, when I got there two guys from the basketball team were holding him while Jason was beating on him.”
“Shit. All because of the Chrissy drama?”
“You heard about that?”
“I think everyone in school knows about that.”
“Well, yea. It was about that.” Steve sighed loudly. “I just about fucking exploded when I saw them. I wished I had my bat with me. I was ready to take them out if they hadn’t run away when I showed up.”
“Shit. Is he ok?”
“I don’t know. I patched him up, but he was pretty upset. I feel like I fucked up.”
“Go see him.”
“Huh?”
“Go to his place and check on him.”
“I can’t.”
“Why not?”
“Why not? Robin, have you been listening?”
“Yea, you kissed him and ran away from him. So what?”
“So, he left before I even woke up. He clearly didn’t want to see me.”
“Or he was trying to avoid an awkward situation. Look at it from his side, Steve. You kissed him and then left him alone in your room all night. Can you imagine how confused he is?”
Robin had a point, but Steve was still afraid to see him. What would he even say? Sorry I kissed you, I don’t know if I’m gay, but I think I like you?? Probably not the best idea. Steve just needed to take some time to figure out what he wanted. In the meantime, Dustin would have to find an alternate way to and from school.
**
Steve wasn’t expecting to end up at the Wheeler house on a Sunday afternoon, but there he was drinking fruit punch and eating a cookie provided by Mrs. Wheeler. Nancy was upstairs changing out of her church clothes and Steve had agreed to wait for her. Mr. Wheeler was already snoring in his recliner and Steve felt a little awkward. He hadn’t spent much time there since he and Nancy had broken up a year ago.
When she finally emerged from the stairs, dressed much more like herself than the flowery collared dress she’d been wearing, Steve relaxed.
“Do you want to go somewhere more private to talk?” She asked and he nodded.
They headed through the kitchen, Steve setting his half empty glass on the counter. “Thanks Mrs. Wheeler.” He smiled his most charming smile.
“Any time Steve. It was great to see you.” She smiled. She’d always made Steve feel comfortable in her home and like his presence was a welcomed change.
Nancy practically dragged him away as if she worried they’d be sucked into a parental conversation. “Where do you want to go?” She asked as they made their way outside and towards his car.
“I don’t know. Somewhere private. My parents are out of town, we could go there.” The second he said those words he regretted them. “I mean, I know you’re with Jonathon. It would be totally innocent; I just need your opinion on some things.”
Nancy smiled, buckling her seatbelt. “Relax, Steve. I didn’t think you had any ulterior motives.” Steve started the car and pulled away from the curb, still unsure of where they were going. “Besides,” Nancy said, her eyes focused out the front window. “Jonathon and I broke up.”
“Wait, seriously?” Steve thought that should make him happy, because he loved Nancy. Didn’t he? He wasn’t really sure what he was feeling but it wasn’t happiness.
“Yea. The distance kind of took its toll. Plus, there are some things neither one of us is sure about, and it just got…complicated. It’s fine though. It was amicable. They’re all supposed to come out for Thanksgiving so that will probably be awkward.”
“Shit, Nance, I’m sorry.”
She shrugged. “It happens. I’m slowly getting over it, but it will take some time, ya know?”
Steve nodded and tried not to think about how quickly she’d gotten together with Jonathon after their breakup. It was ancient history. “Where do you want to go?” Steve asked, realizing he was driving aimlessly.
“Your house is fine. I haven’t been there in forever. I kind of miss your pool.” She turned her head to the side and smiled at him.
“My house it is.”
**
The last time Nancy had been at Steve’s house was also in the fall. It felt like ages ago when in reality it had only been two years. Back then, Barb was still alive and neither one knew about monsters and alternate worlds mirroring theirs. They’d been dating for a short time, still new and exciting. Before Nancy fell for Jonathon, before Steve showed what a jerk he was, before their worlds turned literally upside down.
Being by the pool was a little bittersweet for Nancy. This was the last place Barb had been alive, where the Demogorgon had gotten her because Nancy left her alone to sleep with Steve. She’d been so stupid. She didn’t know that it was dangerous and that she’d lose Barb forever, but she hadn’t been a very good friend. Their last interaction still haunted Nancy’s dreams, though she kept that detail to herself.
Slipping off her shoes and rolling up her pants legs, Nancy sat at the edge of the pool and dipped her feet in. The air was cold, but the pool was heated, steam rising off the surface of the water. Steve joined her, sighing as he leaned back on his hands. He always felt so calm around Nancy. Things had been easy between them until…they weren’t. When she’d said she didn’t love him he’d been crushed. But they’d been through so much since then and he genuinely just wanted her to be happy. He was still trying to wrap his head around the news that she’d broken up with Jonathon and how it made him feel.
“So, what did you need to talk to me about?” She asked, gently kicking her feet in the water to make small waves.
Steve had desperately wanted to talk to Nancy about what was going on in his head and what happened with Eddie. But now that she was here, he was second guessing himself. Robin had been easy to talk to, and entirely unhelpful, but she was his best friend. And Nancy was his…friend? He wasn’t really sure. They only hung out when the world was ending. Was she really anything more than his ex now?
“Steve?” She looked over to him, taking in his tense shoulders and furrowed eyebrows.
“I…I’m super confused right now, Nance.”
“About what?”
Steve sighed and turned his eyes to the sky. “Have you ever liked someone you’re not supposed to like?”
“Not supposed to like? I’m not sure I get what you mean.”
“Someone…someone you shouldn’t like. Someone who is the complete opposite of what you thought you like.”
“I really don’t understand what you’re talking about. Who do you like?”
“If I tell you, you can’t freak out and you can’t tell anyone, ok?”
“Ok.” Nancy thought for a second running people through her head that he could be talking about. “Is it Robin?”
“What? No. Not Robin. Definitely not Robin.”
Nancy’s shoulders seemed to relax at that. “Then who?”
“It’s…Eddie.”
“Eddie?”
“Eddie Munson.”
“Oh. Wow.” They were quiet for a minute, both staring at the leaves floating on top of the water.
“Thoughts?” Steve finally spoke, the nerves making his hands shake.
“I don’t know if I’m more surprised it’s a guy or that it’s Eddie Munson.”
Steve chuckled humorlessly. “Yea, tell me about it. I’ve been agonizing over this for months.”
“Months? I didn’t even know you two were friends.”
“We’re not. Or we weren’t. I don’t really know what we are.” Steve ran a hand through his hair, messing up the style he painstakingly worked on every morning. “He started coming into Family Video a few months ago and then when the school year started Dustin and the others joined his club.”
“Right. I think I knew that. Mike has been obsessed. The Fire Club, or something.”
“Hell Fire. Dustin has been talking my ear off for a while now.”
“So, what makes you think you like him?”
“At first, I just kind of…noticed him. I kept thinking he was pretty or cute without meaning to. Then I started caring about him. His van broke down and I started driving him to and from school. At first it was because Dustin asked and then it was because I wanted to be helpful to him. Then there’s the stuff with the basketball team…”
“What stuff?”
“They’re kind of bullying him because of Chrissy Cunningham.”
“Oh. I think I heard something about that, but I didn’t realize they were still harassing him.”
“Yea, it seems to be escalating too. Dustin said they think it was them who messed with his van. And then…a few nights ago they were beating the crap out of Eddie outside the school.”
“Shit. Is he ok?”
“I don’t know. I saved him and I patched him up and I…I kissed him. And then I ran away, and he left. Now I don’t know what to do. I’ve always liked girls. Only girls. But the way I feel about him is the way…the way I used to feel about you.”
Steve couldn’t look at Nancy, unsure of how she’d react to that confession. She was quiet for a long time, thinking it over and picking her next words carefully. Steve had come to her for help because he trusted her, and she didn’t want to let him down.
“I think it’s ok that you like him. We don’t get to choose who we’re attracted to. It just happens. So, yes, you usually like girls but now you like Eddie. It doesn’t change who you are. It just means you’ve expanded your taste.” Steve’s lips were pressed tightly together when Nancy looked at him again. “You ok?”
He nodded but said nothing.
“I guess what really matters is whether or not he likes you back.” She added with a small smile.
“He kissed me back before I freaked out.”
“So, he’s at least open to being with a guy, right? Or open to being with you?”
“I don’t know. I haven’t seen him since.”
“So go see him.”
“You sound like Robin.” He smiled.
“You aren’t going to know anything if you don’t ask. If you want answers, go out there and get them.”
“Is this your reporter pep talk?” He grinned.
“Hey, it works nine times out of ten.”
“What about the one time it doesn’t?”
“That’s when someone doesn’t listen to me and goes on being unhappy and unfulfilled.”
“Guess I better listen to you then, huh?”
“I would.”
Steve couldn’t help but laugh. He felt like a weight had been lifted. “Thanks, Nancy. I feel better.”
“Good. I really care about you Steve, you know that right?”
“Yea. I know. Me too.”
Nancy leaned into Steve’s side, and he wrapped his arm around her shoulders in a hug. He realized then that he did still love Nancy, it was just a different kind of love. She was his friend and someone he could go to when he needed advice. When she was ready to talk more about Jonathon, he’d be there to listen. In the meantime, he was going to enjoy knowing that two of his friends supported him in whatever decision he made about his love life. Deep down, he knew they’d be there to pick up the pieces if it all fell apart.
**
Steve had treated Nancy to lunch and then drove her home. He really felt a lot better after talking to her and he thought it was time to listen to her and Robin and face Eddie head on and talk. He drove straight from the Wheeler house to the trailer park. Once he was there, outside the Munson trailer, his nerves came crashing down on him. He sat gripping the steering wheel and staring out the windshield, psyching himself up to go talk to him. He couldn’t chicken out now.
He felt like he had weights tied to his ankles as he climbed out of the car and trudged across the dry grass to the door of the trailer. Eddie would come out and he’d explain what happened the other night and find out how he felt, and it would be fine.
Steve knocked on the door in time with his pounding heart. His hands trembled with nerves, so he balled them into fists and stuffed them in his pockets. It felt like forever that he waited there but couldn’t have actually been more than a minute. When the door finally did swing open, it wasn’t Eddie standing there but an older man.
“Can I help you?” He asked, seeming annoyed.
“Oh, um, is Eddie here?”
He looked him up and down with a skeptical eye. “Are you one of those boys giving him trouble?”
“What? No. I’m Steve. I’m his…friend. I’ve been giving him rides to school.”
He visibly relaxed, leaning against the doorway. “Oh. Well, Eddie’s not here. He went to check on his van and then to a friend’s house. I don’t know when he’ll be back.”
Steve felt disappointed but tried not to show it. “Ok. Sorry for disturbing you. I’ll just wait and see him in the morning.”
Steve turned to walk away but was stopped when Eddie’s uncle called out to him. “You said your name is Steve, right? Eddie said you’re the one who helped him when he got jumped by those punks. Keep watching out for him, alright? People don’t understand him, but he’s a good boy and wouldn’t hurt anyone.”
“I know. I won't let anything happen to him.”
Mr. Munson nodded at him and Steve left, climbing into his car. He knew that he would have no problem keeping his promise. Steve protected everyone he cared about, Eddie as just a new addition to his wing of protection. Even if Steve did end up bloody and beaten when he tried to protect others, it was worth it for them. He felt giddy as he pulled onto the road and drove away. Eddie had talked about him to his uncle. That had to mean something, right? He’d cut his loses today and tomorrow he’d see him again, bright and early to pick him up for school.

//15 pt. 2//
15 was the year that i lost everything & everyone that ever mattered to me. even the in bits & pieces, the urns full of ash, a letter i want to burn- they never return. no, not wholly.
sometimes, i lay awake at night, i can not sleep, & i try to remember, i try to think, think, think, but everything is always in this haze of the yellows&purples&browns&blues, the hue of the bruises in the shape of a pointer and a thumb left on my inner thigh. when i see something, i grasp it, i hold it, i speak it out loud into the winds slapping my face raw, into the river where i dreamt of floating down, down, down, into the bathroom sink drain full of hair&vomit&blood, into the chipped cup i refuse to let go of- full of cinnamon orange & lead paint.
i am dissociated from the girl i once was.
that girl who slept outside in the summer just to hear the coyotes howl & yip, the safety of cars passing by& the neighbors tv blaring college football games& the cattle train waking her.
she used to wake up early just to drink coffee every sunday with her papa, to watch the weather reports of canadian blizzards, to poke the fire & watch the snow fall. she would sing her father gospel& draw her mother laughing.
birthdays were halloween decorations, no-bake-cherry-cheesecake, & the girls who still liked me, who now hate me. they were family & cousins & firepits.
i had friends then, before, & after it was never, ever the same.
when i was 15, i found out what love really meant.
it was christmas vacation & pressed up against lockers, the blooming red blood flowing from the boys nostrils (did he not understand? how special a first kiss should be?) & falling down in the school yard. it was a boy in freezing grey minnesota & the drawings he made, the last words he said. it was the stairwells &my name on the loudspeaker. it was walking a mile in the winter just to see my father, thanksgiving spent in a gas station, we would share a coffee & dollar store coffee-flavored-hard-candy. it was sleeping on the pissed soaked carpet like a dog & getting kicked out after. it was a dirty room in a house i had never been to where he held me down, where i took my first drag just to compose myself after. it was a girl with blue hair & even bluer eyes. it was my father on the swing singing. it was my mother getting in her car & leaving. it was that house in that town i hated that smelled of meth & gun powder. it was losing faith & falling out.
when i was 15, my world fell apart.
i do not see how it was ever worth it- the things we do not ever speak about.
i can not grieve her.
the girl i once was.
i can not even remember what she looked like, or felt like, or tasted like.
i can not remember her thoughts swirling, the dread creeping, the crushing adoration she felt for girls & boys who would never notice her.
i can not remember how it felt to punch the dry wall,
only the floating through my childhood bedroom ceiling- the one covered in glow-in-the-dark-stars & a crack from an earth quake.
sometimes i wish i could.
she comes & whispers to me in my sleep, in my dreams.
sometimes, i wish she would shut the fuck up.

I Want You
Premise: It’s the night before their wedding. Their friends have everything planned, but Max and Sienna only want each other.
Book: Open Heart (post series) Pairing: Sienna Trinh x Max Valentine (M!OC). Feat. Ethan Ramsey x Cassie Valentine (F!MC) Rating/Category: Teen. Fluff. Trope: Bachelor and bachelorette party Words: 1,580
A/N: I was missing Maxenna and decided to remedy the situation. Submission for @choicesficwriterscreations CFWC Celebrations event. I’m also participating in @wackydrabbles prompt 141, which will appear in bold.
Tumblr media
The din of voices competed with loud music pumping through the speakers. Everything from gritty rock to jazz and blues; the proprietor of the establishment located in the heart of New Orlean’s Bourbon Street didn’t discriminate.
On Friday nights in early May, the revelers were interested only in drinks, some flirting and dancing, and good-natured fun. And the servers were happy to rake in the generous tips left by happy patrons.
The ceiling fan tried its best to spread the air, but it was a losing battle against the crush of warm bodies filling the narrow space and spilling out onto the courtyard out back.
Max Valentine slouched on an uncomfortable chair, nursing his whiskey while wondering how he’d let his friends drag him out here the night before his wedding. Post-wedding reception technically.
The big society affair tomorrow on the grounds of Oak Alley had been the original plan for his and Sienna’s wedding. But after his accident last December, they hadn’t wanted to wait, marrying instead in a small ceremony in the presence of their immediate family.
Given the Trinh family ties in the New Orleans community and the Valentines standing in society, there were expectations on both sides for something more formal than saying their vows in his parents’ living room.
Max knew that Sienna had always dreamt of a big wedding, and he hated that she’d given up on that. So, he was happy to go along with the post-wedding plans their families made. His sister and hers had even organized a bachelorette weekend for Sienna a couple of weeks ago.
As much as he was looking forward to tomorrow, the last thing he wanted was to spend tonight getting plastered and having his ear drum blasted. He would rather be back at his hotel making love to his wife.
Of course, she wasn’t there since her friends had dragged her out for a girls’ night out on the town while his cousin Tony and his friends, along with Ethan, Rafael, Bryce and Elijah, led him in the opposite direction.
He rolled his eyes at the thought of their friends pretending this was a normal wedding where the bride and groom enjoyed their last night of freedom separately. Instead of what it was: a glorified party for a couple that had already celebrated four months of wedded bliss.
“Tell me you changed your mind,” he heard Tony call out and looked up to see who he was talking to.
And then he was smiling when he spied Sienna in the group of women heading towards their table in the corner of the courtyard. She hadn’t seen him yet, engrossed as she was in a conversation with her sister Brianna, their heads next to each other.
“We didn’t,” quipped Cassie, a rueful smile on her lips as she walked over. “Didn’t know you guys would be here.”
She came to stand behind Ethan, wrapping her arms around his neck and bending down to kiss his cheek.
“Hello, Doctor Sexy,” she purred, making Ethan blush and sputter when the whiskey he had been drinking went down the wrong way.
“Stop flirting with your husband,” said Max, rolling his eyes.
“Never!” retorted Cassie, parking herself on Ethan’s lap and nuzzling his neck.
All of a sudden, the crowd cleared and there was Sienna, a smile breaking across her face when their eyes met across the room.
Tony and Bryce dragged over extra chairs and tables from wherever and soon their section of the courtyard expanded to double the size as everyone crowded in.
Unfortunately for Max, Sienna was sitting too far away for his liking; Aurora and Jackie on one side and her sister on the other. Brianna sent him a wicked, sideways grin as if sensing his frustration at being separated from his wife and taking great enjoyment from it.
He watched his friends having fun with Sienna and Cassie’s Edenbrook friends as if they’d all known each other forever. Samantha was swapping home decor tips with Kyra while Tony, Bryce and Jackie challenged each other to tequila shots.
His Wharton buddy Del asked Aurora to dance and she took his hand. Brianna chatted animatedly about food with his friend Theo, who owned a Michelin-starred restaurant in DC and was opening a second location in the French Quarter.
It was a strange meeting of their two worlds, he supposed, but it seemed to work. His friends, her friends, and now their friends.
And yet all he wanted was her.
Tumblr media
Max craned his neck to see if he could spot Cassie, but there were too many people blocking his view. She had dragged Ethan off to the bar a few minutes ago and given the crowd they would likely be a while. Figuring it would easier to text, he pulled up her contact in his message app.
Tumblr media
Sienna tapped her feet in tune to the music booming through the speakers overhead, listening to Raf and Elijah talk about happenings at Edenbrook. She watched Max slip out of his seat and head nonchalantly inside as if going to the men’s room rather than making his escape.
She was wondering how she would know what the signal was when Cassie rushed over.
“I love this song,” she said, pulling Sienna out of her seat. “Ethan refuses to dance, but I told him I have my fellow dolphin as a willing partner so he’s exempt.”
Sienna let Cassie drag her inside where a makeshift dance floor had been cleared out. Instead of heading in that direction, she found herself in a sea of strangers as the crowd cut her off from Cassie.
Anxious, she started to turn around and head back when someone grabbed her from behind. She almost screamed before she realized it was Max.
“The expression on your face,” he said, chuckling as he folded her in his arms and whispered in her ear. “Ready for an adventure?”
She nodded against his shoulder, raising her head to smile up at him, his lips inches from hers. He bent his head, their mouths connecting in a kiss that was meant to be light but became deeper, more carnal. They broke apart when someone bumped into him from behind.
“Let’s go,” he said, grabbing her hand.
Once outside, they left the crowds behind, ducking into a near empty alley. The cool breeze blew over them, a welcome respite from the heat inside the bar and the warm bodies milling about the French Quarter.
“That feels so good,” said Sienna taking a deep breath. “I thought I was going to pass out in there from the heat.”
“We definitely don’t want a repeat of what happened the last time you were here,” said Max, leaning back against the wall. “You’ve been so tired lately, more than usual. As far as I’m concerned, this wedding can’t be over fast enough.”
“Gee, thanks,” she said, making a face and then shaking her head as he grinned to show her he was joking.
When he reached for her hand, she let him draw her in, stepping between his legs. His hands framed her face and she nuzzled her cheek against his palm.
“You know I’m excited for tomorrow, right?” he said, his tone serious in case she had doubts.
“I know,” she said with a smile of acknowledgement. “Thank god we’re already married or else the stress from an actual wedding might have turned me into Bridezella, even with our moms and Cassie doing most of the work.”
“You mean that woman obsessing over seating charts these last couple of weeks has been the regular you?” he teased, eyes widening in pretend shock.
“You’re suck a jerk!” she shoved against him as he doubled over with laughter.
His amusement was infectious and she found herself wheezing in laughter, her arms crossing her belly as they fell against each other.
Even she could admit there had been times these last few weeks when she had tried her own patience. Like him, she just wanted tomorrow over with and get back to enjoying being newlyweds.
“I believe you promised me an adventure,” she said when they managed to get themselves back under control.
“I know what I want,” he said mysteriously. “But it’s your night. Tell me what Sienna Trinh wants to do on a Friday night in the Big Easy.”
She nibbled on her lower lip as she thought about where they could go that wouldn’t be too crowded. An impossibility in New Orleans this time of year. The last thing she wanted was to go to another overheated bar and fend off drunken partygoers.
What she really wanted was some quiet time with her husband before the circus tomorrow. But how to persuade him that her idea of adventure was returning to their airconditioned suite.
“You’re overthinking it, Si,” he said, smiling gently at her. “Shall I tell you the adventure I had in mind?”
She nodded, grateful to him for taking the lead.
“It involves you, me, and our very comfortable bed back at the hotel,” he smirked. “You game?”
She laughed, not at all surprised that they were completely in sync. It had been like that between them almost from the start and she should have known he wouldn’t want to bar crawl any more than she did.
After all, that’s why they had made their escape, leaving their friends to have a good time without them.
“Lead the way, Mr. Valentine.”

ATEEZ Reaction To: Having a wet dream about you
Tumblr media
yourusernames: Omg can I request ATEEZ reaction to having a wet dream about their friend? (Who would start developing a crush, who would want to have a one night stand and who wouldn't care at all?) Thanks!!
A/N: These reactions are based solely off of what I think they’d do, I am in no way, shape or form, telling you that this IS how the members would handle this scenario. Like shit, I dunno the guys :/. This is a gender neutral reader reaction btw :)
(This is very explicit, you have been warned!!!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hongjoong ♡:
• It felt like the actual thing
• Your lips; sweet like pink lemonade and eyes staring into his with a soft sparkle that originated from his bedside lamp
• but what felt more real than anything was you
• Your scent, your taste
• Your touch...
• It was all overwhelming in the sense that he found himself breaking out of his dreaming state, breath heavy as if he’d been sprinting for hours, and a lusty sheen screening his mind from acting with any sense of rationality
• He was horny horny, dawg 💀
• I feel for that man, it’s tough...
• He could already tell that he had an...accident, before he pushed the duvet off his body due to registering the last couple twitches of his restricted cock in his shorts
• No wonder he could ‘feel’ everything so well
• He wasn’t able to sleep the rest of the night.
• Couldn’t help but begin to feel a crush blossom for you
• As y’all already know, the man gets attached to the ones he spends the most time with
• You’re no exception
• Would end up telling you about his feelings. It was eating him up inside to keep it to himself
Tumblr media
Seonghwa ♡:
• He has no right looking this good, dawg. It literally makes me so mad lmao
• Lemme lick your face, I bet it tastes like expensive concealer and everything I’ll never have >:}
• Anywhore
• He felt feverish, even inside his dream
• It was odd; he could feel you, but he couldn’t feel you. He remembers the surreal sensation of warmth under his palms as he grabbed onto your bare ass whilst you bounced you on top of him, panting hard and clutching at his damp hair to pull his head back
• He groaned, and just as he went to switch positions, he was snapped out of his dream
• Was like “Fuckin pardon?” when he realised where he was; his empty bed, alone in his own room, no sign of you
• Frowned, pushing the covers off of him because dawg, he was heating up OwO
• Then realised the large wet spot at the front of his sweatpants
• “What the...”
• Was never the same™
• Everytime he saw you, he couldn’t help but feel that same heat in his hands, and he felt guilty about it.
• Didn’t know how to approach you about it at all. What was he supposed to say?
• “I nutted in my pants because I dreamt about doing the dirty with you”
• Just wouldn’t bring it up
• Good chance he’d catch feelings. Seonghwa builds bonds with the people he knows, it’s very easy to tell that when he cares, and he would care dearly for you. Once the chance that anything intimate between you two arises, I’m sure he’d begin to think of you romantically once you’re shown in said light.
Tumblr media
Yunho ♡:
• Now wouldn’t a flustered Yunho be a sight? Damn...
• He loved looking down at you
• The way you smiled at him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and pulling his bare chest into yours as you whispered how good he felt inside you, cooing out words of praise and encouragment
• It was hazy, but he can still vaguely remember how you kissed him so sweetly. How your fingers smoothed his bangs away from his eyes, and how you moaned into his ear softly with each thrust
• It was only when you cupped his cheeks and spoke, did you break him out of his dream;
• “Wake up.”
• His eyes shot open
• Only a blue ceiling stared back
• “Mmm...?” Yunho sits up and rubs his eyes roughly, already aware of the blush that paints his cheeks and nose because he can feel the heat in his face
• Said ‘What the fawk 😃’ when his brain caught up with what he just experienced, as well as the stickiness that clung to his inner thighs when he moved to go get some water
• This bitch was contemplating his whole life after that
• Is ‘UwU’ with you from then on cuz a babie caught butterfwies ;(
• Rlly bad at hiding his feelings lol, you’d catch on eventually
Tumblr media
Yeosang ♡:
• It was messy, to say the least
• Kitchen island sex? Yup :D
• The dream wasn’t at all put into play with any sense. You guys were just... in the kitchen, when you confessed your feelings and made a move on him
• A deep kiss mixed with the pounding of nervous hearts all put Yeosang in a fever outside of his dream
• “Say you like it,” You panted, using the hand on the back of his head to push his forehead against yours while the other kept you from laying onto the island
• “I like it.. Fuck, I like it”
• “Yeah?” His hips stutter when you clench your walls around him, and in turn, he lets out a choked-off gasp
• “Y一Oh my god一Yeah...”
• Damn... he was FEELING it lmao
• Funny thing is that he slept throughout the entire dream and woke up only when his foot did a little mid-sleep spasm
• Stared at the wall while frowning for soooooo fucking long
• Whole time he said ‘ya know wot, that’s real interesting 🤔’
• Then was like “Prolly just horny 😃. oh well, time to change my underwear”
• And that’s what he chalked it up to in the end. Would maybe make a joke about it to you next time y’all hung out if he’s feeling loose enough and doesn’t mull over it for too long
Tumblr media
San ♡:
• HEATHEN
• Hold on, lemme get a half-assed feel for the man... yes... mm-hm... ah, I see... OK!
• So, from what I can tell, San would distance himself from you slightly. Maybe.
• That night, as he lie in his bed, breath coming faster with each motion that went on in his head, he saw you in a way that he never thought would happen.
• Skin, slick with sweat and eyes like burning coals as they focused on him. There wasn’t much to remember before it was already fading, but he could still make out how much his stomach lept and spun, heart oh-so thunderous in his chest. Whatever you did with him in the dream... it sparked something inside him.
• San was in a daze as he woke up, his body not quite cooperating with him when he tried to sit up, and instead, falling limp with the next couple of attempts.
• WHEN I TELL YOU THE SOUL WAS SUCKED FROM THIS MAN AISDIUBFADEBI-
• Really just stared into space with the look of a dead man
• What did he do when he finally saw you again?
•  ✨ pretend he didn’t see shit ✨
• Not the masked uncomfort-
• Depending on whether you’re one for confrontation, he might just cave if you press him about his weird behavior enough, but be fast, because I’m sure he could push his feelings down succesfully if he tried hard enough.
Tumblr media
Mingi ♡:
• Dude... the fucking happiness of the dream...
• Silly giggles when you’d accidentally bonk eachother while switching posititons, bright smiles when you stared at eachother after a long time, random compliments, and nothing too serious that you couldn’t find playfulness in. Even when you’d both stop smiling to let out small moans and feel the moment together, it was always lighthearted.
• FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK IM SO ANGRY-
• It was some shit you’d see at the sundance ;(
• Then he woke up-
• You were the first and only thing he thought about as he gained conciousness. He wanted you... you, you, you, just you.
• He’d never wanted anything so bad. A sudden longing that made a lump form in his throat and an overwhelming feeling of how much he’s always wanted you.
• So, like Mingi does, he strived for that goal >:D
• He made an effort to see you as many times as he could and whenever you were free to hang out. And finally, one night when you both lie in his bed and gazed thoughtlessly at the ceiling, he told you.
• “I had a dream about you, you know.”
Not me basically making a summary of a could-be fic-
Tumblr media
Wooyoung ♡:
• Now believe it or not, this bitch is hard for me to get a grasp on. All I can say with confidence is that he has the sex appeal of a milf stripper and is kinda stubborn-
• Hmm.... bothered.
• That is the feeling it would pull from him.
• Hungry; frequent patterns of warm breath against sweat-slicked skin, mumbled curses past wet lips, nails dug into his stomach deep enough to draw blood yet barely acknowledged through animalistic films over both your eyes, and teeth furrowed into the flesh of his shoulder as you scratched at the blank canvas of his back.
• It was all raw sexual aggression from both sides. So much so, that you both practically fought during it.
“I hate you. I hate you like you don’t even know, Wooyoung,” You speak, breathless, and reach up to weave both fists into his hair, “I love you so much that I fucking... hate you.”
• Then...
• Gone.
• Just like that, the dream was replaced with the sight of familiar bedroom walls as Wooyoung opened his eyes, a sigh escaping past his lips when he finally pieced things together.
• “As if I wasn’t already stressed enough...,” He murmurs, staring down at the new stain on his sweatpants.
• From that point on, it’s a new habit for Wooyoung to catch sight of you and keep his gaze there; just staring when you’re not looking, and feeling terrible afterwards. He feels like he violated you somehow, and with that ball of dread in his stomach whenever he sees you, he becomes distant.
• It’s not catching feelings so much as it is a new desire.
Tumblr media
Jongho ♡:
• Jongho, Jongho, Jongho... whatever will we do with you?
• Upfront about it, surprisingly.
• He caught feelings. How could he not when you’re one of the most breath-taking people he’s ever had the pleasure of knowing?
• That face of yours, along with your voice so soft and encouraging in his ears, was enough for him to cave.
• “Just like that, baby... Just like that.”
• He doesn’t even remember the details of the dream. Just your words and kisses, which still make the touched skin of his body heat with excitement whilst he blinks down at his hands.
• He clenches them; one, twice, then lets them fall back to his sides. He doesn’t need to look into his pants to know that he’s soiled himself.
• He feels kinda... empty? After the dream. Lmao just as exhausted as San was, really, but both at the fluttering his heart when he thinks of you, and the dream itself, so cleans himself up real quick before going back to sleep.
• The fluttering doesn’t go away the next morning.
• So... he tells you :D
• As soon as you walk through the door, holding a bag of snacks and drinks for preparation to crash at Jongho’s apartment for a little bit, he sits you down on the couch, much to your confusion at the serious face he has.
• “I know that this kind of thing can ruin friendships and I don’t want that. At all. But, I had a... dream, about you last night and now I can’t really stop thinking about you...”
• Not the pounding of his heart making him dizzy :*

Heyyyyy baby! Okay, I don't know if I'm the only one who's experienced this but did it ever happen to you that you're really good friends with someone in a platonic way and then one night you have a dream about them and you just wake up with this weird crush? Making you notice things about them? Maybe you could do a Tom x Co-star reader oneshot based on this? I'd want reader to be working on Spiderman then we could explore her relationship with the rest of the cast. But that's up to you. ;*
Don’t Dream It’s Over
Pairing: Tom Holland x reader

“Don’t be scared. I got you.” A smirk lit up Peters face before he slipped his mask on as you peered off the ledge hesitantly.
“What if I fall?” You chewed your bottom lip.
“Don’t worry about that, pretty girl.” He said softly as he held your chin between his thumb and pointer finger. “I’m always gonna be here to catch you.”
“Okay.” You agreed, and Peters pumped his fist in the air.
“You might wanna hold me a little tighter.” The eyes of his mask widened in excitement as he wrapped his arm around your waist. “For safety reasons, of course.” He added timidly.
You rolled your eyes at him but complied. You wrapped both arms around his neck and fit yourself as close against his body as you could.
“You ready?” He asked you and you nodded.
“You’re gonna love this.” He said excitedly and stepped off the building. You began to fall freely until and a scream ripped through your throat. Peter shot a web at a nearby building and you were suddenly lit flying upwards, wind rushing in your ears.
“Don’t let me go!” You squealed and tucked your face into Peters neck.
“I won’t.” He laughed in delight as he swung towards another building. Sensing your fear by how tightly you were clutching him, he decided to land. He swung towards a building and landed gracefully on the rooftop. You still held him tightly and he let out a chuckle.
“You can let go now.” He said shyly, not that he wanted you to. You slowly slid your arms down and opened your eyes.
“How was that?” Peter asked you as he removed his mask. He noticed the look on your face and worried that he had upset you. “Did you not like it? We don’t have to do it again.” He said apologetically. You flung your arms around Peters neck and pressed a kiss to his lips. When Peter recovered from the surprise, he kissed you back and let his hands rest on your hips.
“I love you.” You mumbled against his lips when you pulled away. The corner of his mouth tweaked up in a half baked smile. “I’ve felt it for a while. I don’t feel scared when I’m with you. I feel like I can do anything. Isn’t that love?”
“I think it is.” He nodded, eyes full of hope.
“Then why are you just standing there?” You asked him and he made a face that showed he didn’t understand. “Kiss me.”
The moment your lips touched Peters, your eyes fluttered open and you found yourself staring at the ceiling of your trailer. Your heart was beating out of your chest as you sat up in bed. Even though it was just a dream, you felt a sinking feeling in your stomach that it was over. You felt oddly disappointed, and a little dazed. You had hours upon hours worth of fittings and rehearsal to look forward to that day, but there was only thing on your mind: Had Peter Parker always been that cute?
You’d seen Tom in his Spider-Man suit a million times since filming began, but the thought of him in that red and blue was making your heart skip a beat that morning. You rushed out of bed to get dressed, suddenly feeling eager to see him. You threw on a dress he had complimented once before and smiled at your appearance before something dawned on you.
“Oh shit.” You whispered.
You now had a crush on Tom Holland.
You sped walked out of your trailer on high alert. You spotted Zendaya by the makeup trailer and waved her over.
“DAYA!” You shouted. “Daya come here.”
“What’s wrong girlie? You look like you’ve had a fun morning.” She folded her arms and laughed at the panicked look in your eyes.
“You know when you have one of those dreams that make you wake up with a crush on a person you thought you could never have a crush on?” You asked her quietly and she raised her eyebrows.
“Oh shit. Are you asking me out?” She teased you and you clenched your jaw.
“No, Daya. It wasn’t you.” You looked around for anyone who might be listening and quieted your voice. “It was Tom. Well, it was Peter. But now I think I like Tom.”
“Everyone knows that.” She shrugged you off and you scoffed.
“No, everyone speculates that.” You corrected her and she pursed her lips. “I honestly never had feelings for him until now. How am I supposed to act around him?” You whispered harshly.
“Just act like you always do.” She said and you groaned. You ran your fingers through your hair and tugged it.
“I can’t even remember how I used to act. All I can think of is that damn suit.” You folded your arms and blew out a breath. Zendaya looked you up and down and cocked her head.
“Damn, girl. What kind of dream was this?” She raised an eyebrow and you shoved her playfully.
“It wasn’t like that. It was romantic. I kissed him.” You insisted and she nodded skeptically.
“How did the kiss feel?” She interrogated you.
“I mean, I left my earthly body and saw the time knife but that’s it. It wasn’t anything special.” You dismissed it and Zendaya let out a laugh.
“So mediocre then?” She asked sarcastically. “Just talk to him. It’s the only way to tell if these feelings are real or just from your dream.”
“What do I say?” You asked desperately.
“I can’t think of everything. You need to take it from here.” Zendaya told you and you nodded reluctantly.
“You’re right. I’ll talk to him.” You squeezed her arm and walked away. You only got a few paces before you ran into a lady from the props department.
“Hey, Y/n.” She greeted you. “Could you take this to props please?”
“Oh, sure.” You smiled at her and took the fake knife she was holding. You kept walking and tried to think of a plan for what you were going to say to Tom.
“Hey there Juliet.” Jacob nodded at you. You stopped in your tracks so hard that your shoes skidded.
“Juliet? What have you heard?” You held the fake knife up to his throat and he held up his hands in defense.
“Woah there ku’uipo. Relax.” He chuckled and you lowered your knife. “I was just referring to the knife. You know how those crazy kids killed each other in old England.”
“Romeo and Juliet takes place in Verona.” You said and Jacob made a face like he didn’t understand.
“It’s in Italy. And they killed themselves.” You corrected again. “Why are we talking about this?”
“You’re right. What we should be talking about is what you think I heard.” Jacob smirked. Knowing Jacob wouldn’t drop the subject, you confessed.
“Have you ever had one of those dreams that makes you wake up with a crush on someone?” You whispered and he nodded.
“Yeah. I had one just last week and now I’m in love with Jake Gyllenhaal.” He said seriously and you glared at him. “Why, have you ever you ever had one of those dreams?”
“No.” You said quickly.
“Then why did you ask?” He challenged you.
“Ask what?” You played dumb.
“I…I don’t remember.” He blanked.
“You asked me if you could bring this knife back to props. And I said yes.” You lied and handed him the knife.
“Okay.” He shrugged and began to walk towards the props department. Jacob turned around again with a cheeky smile on his face.
“Tom.” He stated, and your heart stopped.
“What?” You faked a laugh.
“You dreamt about Tom.” He said, sure of himself this time.
“What? No.” You tried to lie but saw no use. “How did you know that?”
“Hawaiian intuition.” He tapped his head twice.
“That’s not a thing.” You accused him.
“Oh yeah? Then how did I know you’re crushing on Tom?” He asked you with a knowing smirk.
“I think Props is really missing that knife.” You tried to get out of the situation by sending him away.
“Alright. See you around, Juliet.” He saluted you with the knife and walked away. You swallowed thickly and soon as you turned around, you were met with Tom smiling face.
“Hey Y/n!” He greeted and you jumped back.
“Christ on a bike, Tom. You scared me.” You clutched your hand over your heart.
“Sorry, love.” He laughed softly, making your knees weaken beneath you. “Why was Jacob carrying a knife?”
“It was a prop knife. You could find it at a dollar store. It’d probably be more than a dollar, though. My guess is $3.99. Are you excited for the holidays? I am.” You rambled and Tom tilted his head in confusion.
“Are you okay?” He chuckled, taking a step closer to you and stuffing his hands in his pockets.
“Are you kidding? I’m fine. It’s almost crazy how fine I am. How are you? Are you parents doing okay? They were so nice to me last time I saw them.” You said through a smile and Tom snorted.
“Yeah, you are pretty fine.” Tom commented and you gulped loudly.
“God in Heaven.” You said in a straggled voice and looked up at the sky.
“I’m sorry, Y/n. I didn’t mean to offend you.” Tom said, thinking he offended you. “I just meant that I think you’re pretty. I’m sorry if that was inappropriate.”
“No, no, no.” You stammered and he relaxed. “Totally appropriate. Don’t even worry about it. I don’t even remember it. What were we talking about again?”
“That I think you’re pretty.” He played along and you pretended to remember.
“Were we? That’s crazy. You’re a crazy guy, Holland. One crazy son of a gun. But I uh, I think you’re pretty too.” You said quietly as you looked down at your shoes.
“Hey uh, did you hear about the crazy actress who killed her costar?” You asked suddenly and he furrowed his brows.
“No, oh my God. Who?” He wondered.
“Reese.” You nodded and looked past him.
“Witherspoon?” He asked in shock.
“No. With her knife.” You gave the punchline and grimaced. “I’m so sorry. That was a bad joke.”
“I thought it was funny. I always think you’re funny.” He smiled. Your breath hitched in your throat at his gaze. You’d never noticed how pretty his eyes were, or the little flecks of gold embedded in them.
“I , well, you — but you know, it’s just — I didn’t even uh, it was just a joke so, you know.” You stammered.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” He asked you and you felt your palms beginning to sweat.
“Never been better, Peter.” You gave him a thumbs up, not realizing your slip up.
“Peter?” He repeated and your face fell.
“I didn’t say Peter.” You said quickly, eyes shifting to the left.
“I’m pretty sure you did.” He looked you up and down, wondering why you were acting so funny around him today. His stare only made you worse.
“Really? That’s funny, you must be hearing things. Hold on a minute, COMING DAYA.” You yelled behind you as if you were being called.
“I didn’t hear Zendaya calling you.” Tom said skeptically, beginning to think you didn’t want to talk to him.
“Wow Tom, you better get your ears checked. They are all out of wack, my man.” You laughed nervously as you began to back away. “I gotta go help Daya with something but I’ll catch you later.”
“Okay. Have fun.” Not too much fun, though.” He joked and you pointed finger guns at him, immediately killing you inside.
“Fank yew! It’ll be an alright time, it will.” You shouted in a cockney accent. You shut your eyes and covered your face with your hand. “I’m so sorry. I regret that so much. Can you please forget I just did that?” You pleaded with him.
“Might be a little hard to forget, love. I think it seared itself into my frontal lobe.” He tapped the side of his head and smiled at you. You gave him a big smile and hurried away. You stormed all the way to Zendaya’s trailer and shut the door behind you.
“I cannot believe that just happened.” You whined and covered your face with your hands.
“Woah there. Why are you all red?” Zendaya put down her script and laughed at your appearance.
“Because Tom just tried to talk to me and I forgot how to person.” You yelled in frustration, only making her laugh harder.
“I’m sure it was fine. It’s just Tom.” She insisted in dismissal.
“Exactly!” You exclaimed. “It’s just Tom. So how come when he looked at me, my brain told me to go EFF myself and put on a Nikki Minaj song.”
“Oof. That bad, huh? What song?” She asked you, amused with your embarrassment.
“Super Bass.” You half smiled. “The whole time Tom is talking to me I hear “this one is for the boys with the booming system. Top down, AC with the cooler system.” I couldn’t even think straight!” You whined.
“You’ve been friends with Tom for years.” She pointed out. “What happened?”
“It was that stupid dream! I had a dream we were in love and now I’m whipped. Whipped like…” You trailed off when you couldn’t think of the right word.
“Whip cream?” She raised an eyebrow and you glared at her.
“Shut up. I feel ridiculous.” You sighed and took a seat on her bed. You rested your head on her shoulder and she rubbed your back.
“I’m sure he didn’t think you were ridiculous.” She said quietly. “And look on the bright side.”
“Which is?” You asked her as you plopped down in her swivel chair.
“There are worse people you could be crushing on. Tom is a really great guy. He ill, he real, he might gotta deal. He pop bottles and he got the right kind of build.” She said in a serious tone.
“The way I’m about to shadow kick you right now.” You said gravely as you looked up at the ceiling.
“I’m serious. He’s one of your best friends right? What’s so bad about him being your boyfriend?” She nudged you gently and you sighed.
“There’s nothing bad about it. But what if that’s not what he wants?” You asked quietly as you played with your fingers.
“Take a look at yourself in the mirror, model.” Zendaya spun your chair around to face the mirror as she tucked some of your hair behind your ear. “Of course that’s what he wants.”
“You better be right.” You looked at her in the mirror and she smiled at you.
“I am. Now come on. We have rehearsal on the Crown Jewels set.” She held you up out of the chair.
“I’ll meet you there in a second. I have to grab my script.” You told her before leaving her trailer. You went back to your trailer as she went to set.
~
“Is this mace real?” Jake asked as he weighed it in his hands as the rest of the cast went over their scripts.
“You really think they’d give us a real mace? Especially with you on set, Donnie Darko?” Jacob teased him and Jake began to play with the mace like it were a sword.
“Do they even make maces anymore?” Zendaya wondered, backing away from Jake a little as his swings gained momentum.
“Who’s they?” Jacob laughed.
“The blacksmithes.” Jake said seriously before we went back to moving his mace.
“Yeah, Jacob. Don’t you know about the blacksmiths?” Zendaya asked sarcastically, making a face at him.
“This thing is kinda heavy, though. Makes me want to swing it around and take down the leader of the Huns or something.” Jake realized as he began to swing his arm in a circle.
“Jake, put the prop down.” Jacob laughed nervously as Jake got a little too close with the mace.
“I physically cannot put it down. It’s in control now.” Jake insisted as he swung it around even harder.
“How are you the oldest and most childish person here?” Zendaya asked as she hide behind a suit of armor for protection.
“I feel so free.” Jake smiled wildly. “Is this how the vikings felt?”
“How would anyone here know that?” Zendaya sassed.
“And why do you want to know how the Vikings felt?” Jacob added.
“Hey guys.” You greeted the room happily only to get smacked in the mouth with the mace upon arrival. You collapsed to the floor and felt warm blood trickling down your face.
“Y/n! I am so sorry!” Jake covered his mouth with his hand when he realized what he had done. He bent down beside you and sent the mace down.
“Jesus? Is that you?” You asked groggily as you looked up at Jake.
“Yes. Jesus accidentally hit you in the mouth with a mace. But Jesus was just trying to feel like a Viking. Do you forgive Jesus?” Jake as he he picked your head up a little and let it rest on his hand to keep you elevated.
“Yes?” You asked in confusion as the corners of your vision began to blacken.
“She’s okay guys!” Jake called to Zendaya and Jacob. “But can we get a medic?”
Zendaya rushed out of the room to get a medic right as Tom entered it. He took one look at you on the floor and bloody and dropped to his knees.
“What the hell happened here?” Tom snapped as he took your hand. He dabbed some of the blood off your chin with his sleeve and saw a large cut on your mouth. He looked up at Jake for answers and Jake looked very sheepish.
“Someone hit Y/n with a mace.” He said quietly.
“Hm. Could it be the man holding the mace?” Tom asked in sarcastic anger as he pointed to the mace. He turned his attention back to you and slowly helped you sit up. He held you against his chest and tried to get the hair unstuck from your face.
“Jesus hit me.” You whined and Tom looked at Jake with a raging anger.
“You hit her? I’ll kill you.” He tried to move towards Jake but you patted his chest.
“Jesus hit me accidentally.” You added, and Tom calm down.
“Are you okay, darling?” Tom asked, switching to his most gentle tone. He pulled a pack of tissues out of his pocket and held it against your mouth to slow the bleeding.
“I’m all dandelions and fruit cups down here, handsome.” You giggled, vision still swirling.
“She’s losing consciousness. Where is the medic?” Tom growled and look towards the door right as a woman in white came in.
“Right here. Move aside, please.” The medic ordered. Tom reluctantly laid you down on the ground and backed away to give you space.
“Pickle side, pickle side.” You laughed to yourself and moved your hands like you were conducting. The medic transferred you to a gurney and began to roll you towards the door.
“Where are you taking her?” Tom asked as he followed them.
“We’re gonna take her to the closest hospital. It looks like she needs stitches.” The medic told him and his heart sank.
“I love that song.” You mumbled and began to hum Stitches.
“Can I come?” Tom pleaded as he helped push the gurney along.
“Are you family?” The medic asked him.
“Yes.” He said quickly but she didn’t look convinced. “No. Please. I need to be there when she wakes up.”
“Fine. Get in the back of the ambulance.” The medic nodded towards the ambulance and Tom climbed inside. He waited until you were loaded in and took your hand in his.
“This is just like Grey’s Anatomy.” You smiled a little, then stopped when it hurt. “Nobody knows where we might end up. Nobody knows.” You sang to yourself.
“Thats right, Y/n. Just hang tight, sweetness. It’s gonna be okay. We’re almost there.” Tom said soothingly as he stroked your hair. You smiled at him softly before you fell unconscious.
“We’re almost there. Just hang tight.” Peter looked over at you, taking your hand in his to kiss the back of it.
“Is she gonna like me?” You asked him, hoping for an honest answer.
“Sweetheart, May is going to beg you to move in before dinner ends.” Peter chuckled. “She’s gonna love you.”
“How do you know?” You worried, trying to distract yourself by looking out the window.
“Because I love you. And I’m her kin.” Peter shrugged and you snapped your attention to him.
“That’s the first time you ever told me that.” You smiled softly at him as the streetlight lit up his profile.
“Is it?” He raised his eyebrows to play along. “I didn’t know.”
“Pull over.” You pulled your bottom lip between your teeth.
“What?” He laughed, his smile fading when he saw that you were serious.
“Pull over.” You repeated. Peter obliged and pulled over as soon as he could.
“Is there something you needed?” He asked you with a coy smile.
You smirked at Peter before unbuckling your seatbelt. You leaned across the gear and pulled him into a long kiss.
“I love you too.” You told him, and kissed him again.
“Love? You awake?” Toms voice pulled you out of your dream. Your eyes fluttered open and you looked over to where his voice was. He was sitting in a hospital chair, pulled right up to your bed. “How you feeling?”
“Like I got hit with a mace.” You tried to sit up and he immediately went to your side to help you. You gave him a grateful smile and rubbed your eyes.
“Yeah, I figured. Jake said he’s really sorry. He’s been calling me every five minutes to see if you’ve woken up.“ Tom smiled softly and touched your cheek. He kept his touch light, not wanting to hurt you.
“Thanks, Peter.” You leaned into his touch and rubbed his wrist lightly with your thumb.
“Back to the Peter thing, huh?” He laughed softly. “They told me they got you on some crazy pain killer that was gonna make you loopy.”
“You wanna know something?” You raised your eyebrows suggestively.
“Tell me, darling.” He took a seat on your bed and gave you his full attention. You walked your fingers up his arm and drew patterns on his shoulder with your fingernails.
“I’ve been dreaming about us.” You told him, something you’d never admit if you weren’t on the medicine.
“Have you?” He raised his eyebrows. “What are you dreaming about us doing?”
“You’re mine.” You leaned into him with a sleepy smile. “And I’m yours.”
“You’ve been dreaming about us being together? Like as a couple?” He asked for confirmation and you nodded.
“Uh huh. And then I wake up and I’m sad.” You pouted and stuck out your bottom lip.
“Why are you sad?” He asked quietly, his heart beginning to speed up. You looked up at him through your eyelashes and gave a sad smile.
“Because it was just a dream.” You told him. Tom let out a shaky breath and tried to process what you were saying.
“Are you saying your want us to be together?” He tilted your chin up so he could see your reaction. He knew you were high on medicine and probably had no idea what you were saying, but a part of him hoped you were telling the truth.
You leaned in with a dopey smile and pressed your nose against Toms.
“You’re the boy of my dreams, Peter.” You cooed and he pulled his face away in annoyance.
“Right.” He sighed and looked away. “Peter.”
“Are you mad at me?” You worried when you noticed his reaction. Even with the medicine compromising your mentality, you could tell he was angry.
“No. No darling, I’m not mad. Not at you.” He mumbled, avoiding your gaze.
“Come here.” You pulled at his shirt and he cradled a smile. “I want to be close to you.”
“Okay.” He obliged and scooted closer. You shut your eyes and rested your head against his forehead.
“Can I ask you something?” You whispered, and he could’ve sworn you were sober for a moment.
“Anything.” He nodded against your head.
“Can you hear my thoughts?” You asked seriously and Toms face fell in disappointment.
“No. No I can’t hear your thoughts.” He told you and pulled away.
“Good.” You cupped his chin and turned his face back to you. “Because they’re all about you.”
You let your thumb slowly drag down his lip, laughing a little at the sound it made when you let go. Toms throat tightened at your action and he gulped.
“You’re so pretty.” You smiled as your eyes trailed down his face.
“You’re pretty too.” His lips tugged into a grin.
“Peter.” You whined as you pushed him away.
“What?” He asked, confused with your mood change.
“You’re giving me butterflies.” You said timidly as you played with the edge of your hospital gown. “But I like someone else. I can’t like you too.”
“You like someone?” His face paled. “Do I know him?”
“Yeah. He’s like a really, really good friend of yours.” You blew out a breath.
“Is it someone on set?” He questioned you.
“Maybe.” You said in a sing song voice and shrugged.
“Who?” He asked, getting more worked up by the minute.
“I like Tom.” You whispered loudly and Toms eyes widened.
“What?” He whispered back.
“Shhhh, Peter.” You pinched his lips between your fingers. “You can’t tell Tom that I like him.”
“I think he might already know.” Tom said when he pulled your hand away from his face.
“What?” You panicked. “Who told him?”
“Whew, I don’t know.” Tom played along. “I think Zendaya did.”
“Daya? No. She swore she wouldn’t. It must’ve been Jacob.” You hit your fist against the bed.
“You told Jacob before me?” Tom exclaimed.
“I didn’t tell him. It was his Hawaiian intuition.” You tapped the side of your head twice.
“His what?” Tom tilted his head to the side.
“I have to go to sleep now, Peter. I can’t talk about this right now.” You waved your hand and pulled the sheets over your lap.
“You’re gonna tell me that you like me and then go straight to sleep?” He whined.
“I don’t like you, Peter. I like Tom.” You corrected him. “I like Tom and his curly hair and his brown eyes and his cute ass nose. God, what a nose. And I like his accent and his smile and his ambition and FUCK, his nose.”
“You mentioned that already.” He chuckled shyly.
“I did?” You sat up slightly and shrugged. “Because I love it. I love it all. And if you’ll excuse me, I needs my sleeps.” Tom sat back in his chair and sighed, knowing he wouldn’t be getting any real answers until you woke up.
~
“Good morning.” You said weakly as you reached for the ice pack next to your bed. You held it against your cheek and sighed in relief.
“Hi sunshine.” Tom smiled softly. “Are you feeling any better?”
“Yeah. I don’t feel like someone put my brain through a pasta maker anymore.” You said as you rubbed your eyes.
“Aw. How about your mouth?” He questioned.
You gave him a weak smile until it hurt and returned the ice pack to your face.
“There she is.” He smiled back. “You may want to keep the smiling to a minimum until those stitches heal.”
“That wont be a problem.” You groaned in misery and leaned against his body. He hesitantly brought his hands to your head and stroked your hair.
“Hey, can we talk about before? About what you told me?” He asked softly as he combed the tangles out of your hair.
“Tom, if you think I remember a single thing since this morning…” You shook your head as you trailed off.
“You told me that you liked me.” He got straight to the point. “Or, you told Peter that you liked me. But I heard, o-obviously.”
“Oh God.” You buried your face in your hands to hide your shame.
“Jacob knows, Zendaya knows. You told everyone but me.” He said softly. You began to panic now that he knew. Even if he was cool about it, it’d never be the same between the two of you.
“Sorry, no.” You blurted, back to forgetting how to act around Tom.
“Sorry, yes. You told me a few hours ago, love.”
You turned away from him in shame and squeezed your eyes shut, wishing you were anywhere but in that hospital bed.
“I’m sorry if that creeps you out. I guess I don’t really have control over the fact that you’re…” You trailer off with a loss of words.
“The boy of your dreams?” He humored you and you huffed out a breath.
“Leave me alone.” You groaned and put your head back in your hands. Tom gestured for you to scoot over so he could take a seat beside you, and you did.
“You know, those stitches come out in a week.” He brought you and you looked at him quizzically.
“And?” You asked, unsure of his point. Tom took your chin between his fingers and placed a kiss on the corner of your mouth. Your entire body froze as he pulled away and gave you a half cocked smile.
“Find me in a week.” He winked.
“Pssh.” You smirked. “In your dreams.”

Remember the Rain
praying this is the final part of “Sunrise, Sunset” by the time i’m done omg ,, lamar finally talks it out with frank. i was tryna keep the titles consistent with a sky theme? wasn’t sure what to name this one at first, but i settled on naming it after a i song that i felt was sorta fitting lol ,, also lamar’s dramatic when drunk, that’s jus how it’s gonna be
oh and i included one last convo w/ that psychic lady bc each character got three opportunities to speak to her lol
//
The night Franklin and him fought was the third night in a row Lamar couldn’t sleep right. Then it became four. Then five. Six. He had hoped after the first couple days of Franklin being mad, that it’d all blow over and things would go back to normal. That he wouldn’t ever have to say anything about what he felt deep down. Even though he told himself he had to, he wouldn’t. He waited it out, and still hoped it would all just fucking blow over. That wasn’t what happened of course.
An overcast sky was spread over LS, light rain tapping against Lamar’s window. As cheesy as it was, it reflected how he felt. Another day had passed. Franklin wasn’t picking up, not even reading his texts, nothing. He called a couple times at first when the fourth day of the silent treatment occurred, then tried a few more times to contact him in the following days. It had grown into a long and sad string of texts.
franklin.
dog
plz
pick up
answer me
plz?
c’mon frank i told you i have nothin goin on with yo auntie
i wanna talk things out with you.
u ain’t let me finish explaining
text me when u read this. plz bro
He sighed. This was hopeless. He set his phone aside, still laying awake. A buzz came right after. Fucking finally, something.
fuck you
we got nothin to discuss
He didn’t know how to feel. This was fucking him up and he couldn’t think straight. He tried calling him once more, the ringing as he waited for a pick up mocking him. Voicemail yet again. How many messages had he tried leaving at this point?
for fucks sake frank pick up
u ain’t doin this to me rn
jus let me explain myself
He stared at the ceiling yet again, like it would have all the answers sprawled out for him. As he did, he focused on how the rain had picked up, coming down harder. Then he felt his phone buzz.
no
now stop blowing my phone up
i’m tryna sleep
Lamar was never one to be sensitive, but he felt so crushed right now that all he could do was cry silently to himself. He didn’t even have Chop around anymore to comfort him like he normally would whenever Lamar was going through something. Would he even see him again? He lived over at Frank’s now. Fuck. Did this mean they’d have to share custody now? If he wasn’t so upset, he most likely would’ve laughed at the idea of it. He was letting bad thoughts consume him, turning to a last minute resort of drinking to try stopping it. This kind of thing rarely happened to him, these kind of feelings weren’t common. He knew no other method of trying to stuff bad feelings down, working through a 6 pack of beer on his own, followed by a bottle of some type of random liquor. Anything to stifle the pain in his chest, although it didn’t accomplish much other than making him feel even more queasy. He left one last voicemail, choking back a sob. Or what he had thought would be the last one. He lost count.
“Franklin. Please jus’ talk to me already man. You- you believin’ what you wanna believe right now, you ain’t even givin’ me a chance. You my best fuckin’ friend, don’t that mean shit to you anymore? We.. homies n shit.” He sniffled, cringing to himself when he said the words “best friend”. Franklin was so much more than that to him.
“Ion… Ion think I can live without you in my life. You can’t hate me man that shit.. that’s fucked. This is fucked. I’m fucked.”
A strong feeling of humiliation hung around him for many reasons, one being that he was fully crying now, over the phone. He couldn’t get any lower.
“You jus’ mad right now. But you.. you won’t be, eventually. Right? Please get back to me soon. Please. I’d rather fuckin’.. die or sum’ than have you hatin’ me n shit. At this point I might as well.”
After hanging up, he decided to visit that site one last time. His tears blurred his vision, making it harder to type. The shit in his system didn’t help either.

All I can say to you is good luck - it’s all coming together. Just wait.
th fuck does that mean?
It means that you’re stressing too much - you better sleep it off. Farewell Lamar. You’re gonna have a killer hangover you know…
SERVICE UNAVAILABLE. PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER.
The notification did nothing but make him more upset. He calmed down eventually, the crying and alcohol tiring him out. He blacked out soon after, not remembering when he fell asleep.
For the first time in a while, he dreamt about the two of them. The start of the dream showed a radiant sight before them, the sky lit up in a million shades. Chop was laying beside Franklin, head on his thigh. All three of them sat on a grassy knoll, a soft breeze blowing through each blade. Franklin turned, Lamar not taking his eyes off him since the dream started. He only noticed the sky’s wide color palette because the intensity struck Franklin’s face just right. He looked right into Lamar’s eyes, speaking softly.
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
“What?”
“You had so many opportunities. So many times, I thought that you would. I got my hopes up, you know. I waited. When Tanisha left.. I only had you.”
“Tanisha..”
“I still love her. I.. I think apart of me always will, but I love you just the same. Even if you drive me up a Goddamn wall sometimes. You both mean the world to me.”
Franklin looked back at the view ahead. A heavenly indigo replaced the vivid hues from before.
“But she’s gone now. Shit ain’t the same. All I know is you stayed when she didn’t. Even when she got pulled outta the hood and made some kinda new life for herself, you never left my side. Never changed yo loyalties.”
He turned back to face Lamar again. His eyes were glassy, the glow of the midnight sky reflecting in them.
“So why didn’t you say somethin’ sooner?”
“Franklin.. I ain’t deduce that shit ‘til now.“
“You really didn’t know?”
Even in the dream he could feel that previous frustration occur in his mind. Was he hiding in a glass closet or something? He could only let out a wry laugh.
“Yeah man. I was a fuckin’ fool, jus’ like you always said.”
“Damn straight.” He chuckled, and Lamar came to the conclusion that he could listen to that laugh forever. Franklin’s face then fell solemn.
“Y’know I really thought that.. I really thought that you jus’ got with someone else. Not even jus’ my Aunt. I saw how you wanted to get away from me, and I thought…” He stopped himself, petting Chop’s head.
“I.. wanted to be happy if you was, but the thought of that at all bothered me.”
“Why?”
“Cuz you were all I had, dog. Mike n Trevor, they have their own lives, their own history n shit. I can’t always rely on them. Denise don’t give a fuck what happen to me. You my lifeline dog, I’ve known you for years. I didn’t want you to forget me over a chick or sum’. That day you acted all different n shit, it worried me.”
“Hey man, y’know I ain’t ever gon pull that shit on you. I’m with you for life.”
“Then don’t pull other kinda stupid shit on me.”
“Whatchu mean?”
“You can’t ever die on me bro. That ain’t how this shit works.”
“Ay man, I don’t plan on dying jus’ yet. Not unless yo ass by my side. Not ‘til I tell you I…” He couldn’t finish the sentence.
Franklin got closer to his face, cupping his cheek. His eyes shone as the stars around them fell from the sky, akin to raindrops, hitting them. Everything about him was flooding Lamar’s senses, and it felt surreal, between his aroma and all the other things he loved about Franklin. Golden flecks covered them both, and the stars continued to crash down. The sky was growing darker than before.
“Just say the words Lamar. Say them and this shit’ll be over.”
“How?”
“Well first you need to wake yo ass up.”
“Huh?”
“I said wake up, fool!”
Lamar’s blissful dream had been interrupted by an unknown figure shaking him, literal raindrops hitting his face. He was still bleary eyed, only seeing a vague silhouette in front of him. A wet slap to the face rattled his brain around, the hangover settling in. Shit, was he still drunk? What time was it?
“Lamar! Get up!”
“Oh.. Th’fuck? Who- who that is?” He grunted out.
“It’s me you fuckin’ clown!”
“Frank?”
“Who the fuck else?”
“Why are you-”
He was abruptly yanked out of bed, thudding to the floor with a small “oof”.
“Get up you punk bitch!”
“Franklin what the fuck-”
He was grabbed again, tossed back onto his bed. Franklin straddled him, shaking Lamar by the collar.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?!” He said, Lamar getting another slap to the face.
“What in the fresh fuck is you talkin’-” Another slap.
“15 fuckin’ missed phone calls! 15! Are you fuckin’ nuts?!”
Lamar’s eyes practically popped out of his head. 15? What the fuck did he say to him?
“I did what-”
Franklin shook him even harder by his shirt, stretching the material out. He was straining his voice now.
“You had me worried like fuckin’ crazy! I thought you was in some sorta fuckin’ trouble again! You blew my phone up when I told yo ass not to, and then didn’t fuckin’ pick up after I heard the first couple special messages you left me!”
Oh God. This was it. He told Franklin everything, didn’t he? The color drained from his face.
“Oh fuck me..” He mumbled, putting a hand over his eyes.
“What?!” Franklin yelled, shaking him again. Lamar’s head was pounding.
“Franklin.. what.. what I say on there? I barely remember a thing, let alone callin’ yo ass.”
“You seriously don’t fuckin’ remember?!”
“Yeah. Seriously, man.”
Franklin slid off of him, putting a palm to his face. He breathed through his nose hard, trying to calm down. Lamar realized he was drenched from the small downpour outside. Pellets of rain thumped against the window as a reminder that the storm never went away.
“You.. fuck, man. You started sayin’ all this shit about how bad a fuckin’ friend you was. That you, you was hidin’ all this shit and couldn’t live another day without tellin’ me.”
Okay. Good. He didn’t tell him the truth.
“You told me you wanted to die dog. Didn’t realize yo dumbass was safe n sound asleep in yo fuckin’ bed.”
“Oh.”
“…’Oh’? Is that really all you have to say?!”
“F, I was jus’ drunk. It was dumb of me, I know, but I.. It’s nothing, okay?”
“Don’t do this shit to me man! I’ve already dealt with enough of yo fuckin’ schemes n shit-”
“Frank.”
“It’s 3 am! You had Chop barkin’ his Goddamn head off the whole night!”
“Franklin.”
“Then I race my ass over here to find yo drunkass self passed out in bed-”
“Franklin.”
“What! What?! You finally gonna put yo two cents in for once?”
“Stop yelling. My head hurts like a bitch right now.”
“Good! I’m fuckin’ glad because I know mine does as well you fuckin’ asshole!”
Lamar looked pathetically up at him. This was getting out of hand. He let it go on for too long.
“Why did you come here then?” He croaked.
“Because you were fuckin’ sobbin’ into the phone! All I heard was you cryin’ like mad fuckin’ crazy and it scared me. You don’t ever do that shit, not even when you fucked up.”
“How much I say?”
“I got the first message pretty fuckin’ clear, the rest was jus’ incoherent bullshit. I barely got through the second one before speedin’ on over. You sounded hurt n shit, I thought something happened. I thought you was a goner.”
“No weird shit though right? I ain’t say nothin’ bad?”
“What? Lamar, what the fuck are you on about? I just told you what yo ass cried out to me! I couldn’t even understand any of the other messages!”
“Okay, okay. That’s.. good I guess.”
“That’s good? Fuckin’ hell, why did I come here? You- ugh!”
“Franklin. Can you jus’ sit down before you pop a fuckin’ blood vessel? You stressin’ for nothin’.”
If anything, Lamar should be the one stressing right now. He had been so close to confessing without knowing. Franklin sat next to him, arms crossed.
“Franklin.”
“What.”
“I’m sorry that I scared you. I didn’t mean to.”
“Well good fuckin’ job, you accomplished that real well didn’t you.” He said, sarcastically applauding him.
“I thought you were cutting me off for good homie. You think I was gon’ let that happen?”
“Lamar, that still ain’t a good reason to freak me out like that in the middle of the night.”
“It’s only cuz you hadn’t been listenin’ to me bro. I’ve been wanting to tell you somethin’ so badly lately and I never.. got the chance.”
“Then do pray fuckin’ tell LD, what the fuck is so important that you had to do this shit to me at 3 AM!”
“Franklin man, c’mon-”
“No! Don’t start!”
Franklin stood, heading for the door as he spoke. He stopped in the threshold.
“Tell me what the fuck is goin’ on with you, or I’m leavin’ yo sad ass here to wallow. I mean it L.”
“Don’t be like that. Please man. I want to, but I-”
“Jus’ fuckin’ tell me! Why won’t you tell me?!”
“Frank-”
“I dragged my ass all the way over here for nothin’ didn’t I? You ain’t dead, you ain’t sayin’ shit, you jus’ bein’ so- ugh! Fuck!” He threw his hands up, exiting Lamar’s bedroom.
“I’m done man, fuck this.”
“Franklin wait- don’t go-” He pleaded.
Franklin did nothing but leave him stranded again, thunder rolling far in the distance. Lamar ran after him as he walked out the door, hearing the rain heavily hit the pavement. His mind was racing far ahead of him. Franklin was leaving, he was leaving for good, and he couldn’t. He can’t. That’s not how it’s supposed to work. Franklin can’t do that, he can’t-
His mind had gone so far away, that he didn’t even realize that he had tackled Franklin to the ground. The two of them fell to the ground with a loud splat, followed by sounds of pain.
“Lamar what the fuck?!”
“Don’t go! Fuckin’ hell, I gotta chase yo ass and for what?!”
“Get off me dog!”
“No!” Franklin was pinned beneath him. The raindrops that rolled off of Lamar hit him in the face.
It reminded Lamar of when they were younger, playing football or whatever sport they could outside even as the deluge soaked them both to the bone. The roles had been reversed, with Franklin constantly knocking him down onto the grassy sludge. They got quite an earful from Lamar’s mom as they tracked mud in the house upon returning. It was a memory amongst many that stuck with him like glue. Those memories couldn’t go away. Franklin couldn’t go away.
Tears mixed in with the rain as he yelled out to him.
“You fuckin’ idiot! Why you makin’ this shit so hard for me?! You keep leavin’ before I can even finish!”
Franklin struggled to break free from Lamar’s grip on his wrists, huffing as he looked away.
“Look at me!” Lamar shouted, grabbing his face with a free hand.
“I didn’t wanna fuckin’ tell you like this, but Jesus Christ! For fucks sake you stubborn asshole-”
He was doing it. He bit the fucking bullet.
“You know how we got into that fuckin’ argument last week? When I told you that I was dealin’ with that whole love thing, I wasn’t talkin’ about yo Aunt, a hoe, nobody else! I was talkin’ about you!”
Lamar threw himself off of him, stumbling backwards. Franklin propped himself onto his elbows. He finally said it. He said it, and he was far from finished.
“But you didn’t wanna fuckin’ listen! And now I’ve fucked our friendship over for a second time! All because of you! This whole thing has been drivin’ me fuckin’ insane lately, and I couldn’t do shit about it! I tried so, so hard to avoid this, but nothin’ ever goes my way, huh?! Every time I think a plan of mine’ll work, it doesn’t! You know why?!”
Opening his arms wide, he spoke loud and clear, finishing his rant.
“Lemme remind you: I’m Lamar fuckin’ Davis! The biggest fuckin’ fool, fuckin’ clown, fuckin’ whatever you wanna call me! Lamar Davis, the most naïve bitch on the planet! Fuck me for thinking that this would ever go well!”
Now it was his turn to leave. But he didn’t go back into his house. His legs moved for him, walking in no particular direction. He just needed to get away from Franklin, not caring about how damp his clothes were now. He was shaking, and he didn’t know if it was from the rain or the range of emotions he was flying through.
He could hear a pair of sneakers squishing behind him. Franklin was running, and he was catching up fast.
“Ay Lamar! Get back here!”
Oh fuck. He was chasing after him now. That’s not good. Lamar started running himself, not caring about possibly slipping and falling on his ass. Only a few hours ago, he had told himself he couldn’t be without Franklin. Now all he wanted to do was run away.
“Lamar!”
Fuck fuck fuck.
He wasn’t fast enough. The second time they hit the ground, Lamar had the wind knocked right out of him, the duo splashing right into a puddle. Hands gripped his shoulders, flipping him around.
“Lamar!”
There were only a few instances in his life where Lamar felt small. He’d always been big in character, big in height, and according to him, big in other ways. But this was one of those moments where he couldn’t help but flinch, wanting to collapse in on himself. He was so tired.
“If you gon’ beat my ass or somethin’ jus’ get it over with.” He sighed, shutting his eyes tight.
When he felt nothing but raindrops touch his face, he opened his eyes slowly. His heart sank when he did. Franklin was visibly upset, guilt in his eyes.
“Lamar. Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
A wave of déjà vu washed over him. Oh. So that’s what precognition meant. Motherfucking psychic lady.
“You should’ve jus’ told me man.”
“I tried dog. You wouldn’t hear me out.”
“Cuz I.. I thought you got with someone. I didn’t wanna hear it straight from yo mouth if you was.”
He shifted up, Frank sitting in his lap.
“Y’know I always thought that.. Part of me jus’ kinda thought that it’d always be the two of us. I’m never gonna get Tanisha back.. but you..”
Franklin looked away.
“You a crazy ass loyal motherfucker man. You stuck by my side no matter what, and some dumbass part of me was convinced that you… I mean fuck, so many times I thought you would jus’ flat out say something. Somethin’ so I could stop waiting for the one other person I had known forever to just say that they fuckin’ loved me like that.”
Lamar blinked, rainwater getting into his eyes. It wasn’t quite as serene as his dream had been, nor was it verbatim, but Lamar didn’t care. There was something about the way the water droplets sat along Franklin’s face, highlighted by a streetlight behind him that made him look angelic.
“When you started actin’ all weird it jus’.. made me so fuckin’ mad man. I thought you was gon’ pick someone else over me. Jus’ like Tanisha did.”
“Franklin..”
“So why didn’t you jus’ say somethin’ sooner? I waited. Hell, I don’t even know why I did at first.”
“Franklin.”
“But now I’m realizin’ you must not have even noticed yoself what you was feelin’, when I fuckin’ did. I noticed and you didn’t and-”
Lamar grabbed him by the face, grip surprisingly strong after being in the rain.
“How many times do I gotta say yo name for you to hear me?”
The rain kept falling, never slowing for either one of them. Yet, it felt like time stopped. Lamar chuckled lightly.
“Franklin Clinton and Lamar Davis. Two of the dumbest motherfuckers in LS. Homies for life.”
“Yeah. Homies for life.”
His hands never left Franklin’s face. He pressed their foreheads together, lowering his voice.
“I love you, bum ass bitch.”
“Yeah yeah. I love you too.”
He kissed the top of his head, moving his hands down to embrace him in a tight hug. When was the last time they did this? As he thought it over, he could hear Franklin’s voice muffled against his chest.
“Don’t scare me like that again. Next time save us both the trouble n jus’ spill yo heart out. Dramatic motherfucker.”
The words had no malice in them, Lamar feeling him smile as he said it. He kissed him once more, and they just sat in the rain, feeling it bathe them in fond memories.
//plz listen to remember the rain by 21st century it’s so good 💔😭 anyway ya i decided to end it on a sorta happy note !!!!! franklin is a stubborn guy smh,, sorry for any typos lol also i rlly had no idea where i wanted to go with this so sorry if it’s weird or whatever

Hello, may I leave a slightly weird request?
I don't know if you're familiar with WandaVision? If you aren't then I don't know how to explain this to you 😂
The reader creates the snk world to forget the grief of losing Levi from her world.
If you never watched WandaVision then feel free to write your own interpretation of this prompt!!
Thank you! ♥️
Okay while I am familiar with WandaVision, I feel pretty intimidated by this request tbh lol. But I am willing to kind of put my own spin on this idea, I really like this concept though :)
*Listened to Butterfly’s Repose by Zabawa while writing this one you know the vibes.
Summary: You imagine what your life would have been like if Levi survived the war.
Word Count: 1.1K
138 implied spoilers, I did not go directly off of the chapter but there are some hints towards the chapter and the events that occurred so this is your official spoiler warning.
__
You were no stranger from grief. It had followed you throughout your life with an unholy persistence. But you’d never felt it this deeply, as you sat in front of the memorial, one fore all the fallen soldiers who had lost their lives during the rumbling, it seemed to really sink in. He was gone, never coming back. At first you had been angry at him, for throwing away the future that you could have had if he had simply lived. It has seemed surreal as you wandered around the trampled earth, searching for any sign of him, the green cape, or his mop of black hair. But there was nothing, Mikasa had to drag you away from the barren earth and back onto the boat to leave for the island. The long trip consisted of you and Mikasa sitting next to one another in silence, your shoulders brushing against one another as you both mourned in silence. You weren’t the only one to lose someone, she had lost Eren and others. It felt wrong, to leave them there, but there was little to no choice, there was no body to recover, no burial to be had.
You lifted your head to see Reiner and Annie leaned up against the wall opposite to you, Armin was on the other side of Mikasa, his blonde head buried in his hands. You felt Falco shift next to you, his arm brushing up against yours in a silent plea for comfort. You lifted your arm and wrapped it around his shoulder, pulling him into your side. Over the past few months you and the other soldiers had accepted the young warrior under your wings, you knew that he needed the comfort as badly as you did. Falco leaned into you now, his head falling onto your shoulder, after a moment you felt a him shudder and then your shoulder was damp. You looked down and your eyes watered as you noticed his own watery eyes spilling tears onto your scorched uniform. He turned and embraced you fully, burying his face into your neck as you allowed him to weep into your chest.
You said nothing, only rubbing soothing circles on his back as he sobbed. You had to be the grown up here. You were one of the last squad leaders of the scouting regiment. You weren’t meant to live, it should’ve been Levi, or Hange here. Not you, you weren’t special, no abilities or amazing outstanding qualities. Now you were here with all these young children, who should have never had to be involved in any of this. A tear slipped down your cheek as you stared straight ahead, jaw clenching as you tried to bite back the emotion that was threatening to spill over the edge.
That night you laid in the flimsy cot and stared at the ceiling. You were still in shock from the events that had transpired earlier, you knew you were in denial. The way that you elected to cope, was rather childish. You rolled onto your side and closed your eyes, vividly imagining his face, awash with moonlight, features soft with sleep. You could almost smell the tea on his breath, the warmth that he always radiated, the weight of his arm over your waist. You imagined that he would pull you closer and kiss your temple. You would fall asleep in his arms like you usually do and wake up in a mess of tangled limbs and sheets. He would kiss you even though you hadn’t brushed your teeth yet and you would sigh in relief at the feeling of having him close. He would probably say:
“Bad dream?” And you would nod and tuck your nose in the space between his neck and his shoulder.
“The worst.” you would answer. In this perfect world there were no more race wars, no more titans, all the cadets were healthy and thriving. You could sleep in as late as you wanted, or as late as Levi would let you anyway. The two of you would live in a little house in the country, Levi would own a tea shop in the city. Hange would visit every weekend for some beer and to tell you stories about the up and coming scouting legion. Life would be blissful, maybe if you had made it there, to a world without imminent death around every corner, you could have started a family. You’d never had the pleasure of asking Levi about his thoughts on children. But you assumed that it was similar to your own views, how could you bring a baby into a world of monsters? But in your perfect world, the monsters were slain, and it was just you and Levi, in your little house on the hill. You imagined what you would look like pregnant, you had seen your mother pregnant with your younger siblings before, you figured that you would look much as she had. You pictured Levi and you in your shared room as you gave birth, Hange would probably be the one to deliver your child. They would have Levi’s hair, and his eyes too. But your complexion and nose. They would be more than perfect, ten fingers, ten toes, the whole shebang.
You knew that Levi would be an amazing father, he would be patient and loving. You had seen it in the way that he cared for his cadets. You imagined him reading to your baby, making a face at them when he thought that you weren’t looking. Maybe you’d have another baby a year or two later? But you wouldn’t be in a rush, everything would be taken in stride, at a leisurely pace. Because you would have all the time in the world, all the time you needed to heal from the wounds you’d experienced over the years.
You opened your eyes slowly, and reluctantly the next morning. The cot creaked underneath you as you stared at the empty space next to you. A dream, that was all it was. There was no house on a hill or tea shop. No baby that you needed to rock back to sleep, no healthy or thriving cadets. The only part of your dream that had come true was the bit about the war. That chapter was over, but at the expense of all your other aspirations. The family you never got, the house, the smiling faces of your cadets, and most of all. The end of the war cost you the love of your life. You sobbed, the realization crashing onto you, the weight of the situation crushing your chest. You pressed your face into the pillow and let out an anguished cry, the images of that perfect life slipping deep into the recesses of your mind, while images of the dead took the stage. In the end it was only a dream, a foolish one that you wished you’d never dreamt.

Say It | Draco x Reader
Prompt as requested by anon: You and Draco both have liked each other since year four, but neither of you want to admit to the other how you feel. So you decide a friendly game of hard to get will make Draco confess his feelings.
Warnings: None!
Word Count: 2.6k
A/N: I’ve been trying to CRANK out these imagines for you guys and getting your requests out there. I am going to close requests for the rest of the week, so I can really deliver the content for you guys and do another multipart imagine for the weekend hehehehe...
Tumblr media
A pair of ice blue eyes gazed at you from across the table as its owners smiled softly to himself at the sight of you, writing away in your notebook, taking diligent notes in preparation for exams. He watched as you pushed your hair away from your face, getting annoying and giving in to tying it back into a low ponytail. You bit down on your lower lip, concentration on the material sat in front of you. You were in the zone. You finally acknowledged that someone was indeed staring at you and you didn’t have to look up to know who it was. A small smile danced on your lips as you spoke, “Take a picture. It’ll last longer, Malfoy.”
Draco let out a light chuckle. “I can’t enjoy the view?” he asked you.
You placed your quill down to take a look at the boy sat in front of you. “Haven’t you heard?” you sarcastically ask. “Staring at people without them knowing is creepy.”
“You didn’t know I was staring at you?” Draco teases which makes you blush. He always knew how to come back at you.
The two of you liked each other and it was clear as day. Everyone around you knew it. All of your friends, all of the students in your year, even your professors picked up on it. But the two of you were so stubborn that neither of you wanted to admit your feelings to the other in fear that they would be admitting defeat. This has been going on since year four and now you two were in year six, still not together. You hadn’t even kissed. Nothing.
Shaking your head, you return to your work, a smile still plastered on Draco’s face as you continued your studies. There were lots of things that Draco liked about you. Obviously, you were beautiful. But it was more than that. He liked how strong willed you like himself. You were driven and ambitious. You weren’t afraid to stand up for yourself and others, putting people in their place with just a glare. Draco adored how strong you were on the outside, but a complete mush on the inside when it came to your family and friends. There was so much to like that it made Draco unable to think straight at times.
Draco so desperately wanted to make you his. He wanted to tell you everything about how he has felt about for the past two years. But even though he knew how much you liked him, he still feared rejection. That you would think he wasn’t worthy of someone like you. That you would prefer someone who’s family wasn’t so snooty or prestigious. These thoughts often circulated throughout his head and could drive him close to insanity, wondering what you would do if he asked you to be his.
“Haven’t you had enough studying for today?” he whines as you continue to keep your head buried in your work. You didn’t take exams lightly. Although you liked having fun as much as the next person, your academia always came first. It was your responsibility to do well in school and be better than the next student. You didn’t feel obligated to do it for anyone; you were a good student for yourself. You wanted to prove to yourself that you were just as capable of being brilliant like other students similar to Hermione Granger. “You could use a distraction,” Draco teases.
You roll your eyes, “Are you suggesting that I may be more interested in what you have to offer?” Draco raises his hands in defense. You chuckle, closing your book, surrendering to the blonde Slytherin in front of you. “Well, let me hear your sales pitch, Malfoy.”
Draco sits up in his chair, eye staring into yours. Merlin, you had beautiful eyes. It’s like he saw the galaxy in your eyes. Such a beautiful hue, blinking with joy, curiosity, and cleverness. “I don’t know what to do to sell you, (Y/L/N),” Draco confessed. Which was true. He didn’t know what to do or what to say. What else could he possible do to prove that he liked you and wanted to make you his?
Sucking on your teeth, you feign disappointment. “Not the words I was looking for. What a pity,” you tease as he grins. “Just means I’ll have to postpone buying your product longer than anticipated.”
Before Draco can even ask what that means, you had grabbed your things and left the library with a saucy smirk on your lips. “Merlin, she’ll be the death of me,” he breathes out. Draco sits there, thinking of what he has to do to prove himself to you.
-----
You return to your room, peeling your cardigan off of your body as your roommate, Daphne, sits on her bed. She catches the goofy grin on your face as you place your things away, tucking them into their respective drawers. “Smiling about Malfoy?” she laughs as you ignore her. Daphne knew first hand how much you liked Draco. Ever since year four, you would ramble on and on about him and how much you liked the boy. She would roll her eyes and tell you that you should make a move as your eyes would widen in fear and earn her a ‘are you mental?’ in response. “(Y/N), you like the bloke so much and you know how he feels about you. How many hoops are you going to make him jump through?” she sits up as you plop yourself next to her.
“It’ll come to an end soon,” you confess. “I’ve planted the seed. Now, we wait,” you tell her as she furrows her brows, confused. “Meaning, I told him he needs to sell me on reasons I should want to be his girlfriend. I’ll give him a hard time about it, but I’ll give in.”
Daphne just laughs wildly at you, now your turn to be confused. “Oh, silly little (Y/N). Do you know what you just got yourself into?” she asks, placing a hand on your leg, trying to reassure you about the decision you’ve made. “You challenged Draco Malfoy to a game he will crush you in. I remember when Draco had a two week crush on Tracey Davis and he sent her owls that carried roses to her room every morning and night. And that crush lasted two weeks! Yours has been two years in the making.”
Maybe Daphne was right, this was a mistake. But you kind of wanted to see just how far the boy would go to show you how much he wanted you. That night you went to sleep with excitement and nervousness about what Draco would have in store for you tomorrow.
The morning came quickly as you awoke, still groggy. You slide on your slippers when there is a knock at the door. Yawning, you open the door and on the floor near the door is about six dozen red roses and a small card on the top of the pile of flowers. You open the white card and in Draco’s handwriting reads: Challenge Accepted. Xo, Malfoy
You can’t help but smile.
“You’re bloody joking,” Daphne says from behind you as you shrug, picking up a flower, sniffing its pleasant scent. “I am not picking that up. Malfoy has a crush on you, not me.”
After getting ready in uniform and ready for the day, you make your way to the Great Hall for breakfast. When you sit down with Daphne, Draco is immediately sat to your left. You sip on your pumpkin juice as Draco starts, “Receive anything interesting at your doorstep this morning?”
Hiding your smile, you turn to him and furrow your eyebrows. “Pardon?”
Draco rolls his eyes and scoots closer to you. “Did you get my gift?” he asks.
You scoot away from him, teasingly. “No, actually. There was absolutely nothing in front of my doorstep today. A big pile of nothing,” you tell him as Daphne almost spits out her juice.
Draco recognizes what you are doing as just shakes his head. He then leans in closer and whispers, “This is nowhere near over,” in your ear. The motion brings goosebumps to your skin before he leaves just as quickly as he came.
Sitting there for a moment in silence, you let your heart rate calm down before sipping on your pumpkin juice again and taking a bit of your toast. “I told you this was a war you didn’t want to get involved in,” Daphne sing songs as you kick her underneath the table. “Ow! What’s that for now? Just because you two are stubborn doesn’t mean you have to take it out on my shins!”
-----
And oh Draco wasn’t lying when he said it wasn’t the end. If flowers weren’t enough, he sent you boxes of chocolate, a new pair of shoes, a dress he knew you liked from the shoppes at Hogsmeade, and he even had the audacity to get the Frog choir to serenade you at dinner one night. It was getting absurd at this point. But with every gift Draco gave you, you played it off like it was nothing. Although Draco didn’t have to do all of this, you just wanted to push his buttons.
Draco on the other hand was running out of ideas quickly. He has thought of everything under the sun that was creative or show stopping to get you to be his. What was next? Did you want him to buy you Hogwarts castle? He could probably do it if he tried hard enough...
He was beside himself. Tonight, he laid on his bed, staring at his ceiling, just wondering what you wanted out of him. He thought of you in his mind’s eyes and all of his worries seemed to melt away. The thought of you laughing and smiling made his chest warm and head fuzzy. He dreamt of you snuggled up to him on his bed, him kissing the top of your head, drawing small circles into your hip bones. He wanted you to be his so desperately. It was a deep need. He knew that if you asked him, he would go to the ends of the world for you and come back with whatever you wanted. Draco didn’t want to admit it, but deep down he knew he was in love. No other feeling was this strong.
You sat on your bed, looking at the gifts that Draco had gifted you over the course of the past week. Every single one more beautiful than the previous one. But none of this wanted to make you run into his arms and say yes. That just seemed selfish. Although you wanted to do this to tease Draco and drive him a mid mad, all you really wanted was to hear Draco say the words, “I want you.” That was it. Simple as that.
But of course, it was in Draco’s nature to overcomplicate things and get showing affection confused with material items. You couldn’t blame him though. That’s how he was raised by his parents. They showed their love for him through gifts and material wealth. But in turn this made Draco believe that that was the only was of showing affection rather than using his words or other actions.
Sighing, you place his gifts elsewhere, out of sight as you tuck into bed for the night. “Nothing?” Daphne asks as you shake your head. “He’s going to say it. Mark my words, he’ll do it, (Y/N),” she says as you can only hope he will. “He’ll come around.”
-----
The next day rolled around and you weren’t as well rested as you had hoped. You had stayed up tossing and turning, wondering if Draco was thinking of you the way you were thinking of him. You begrudgingly get dressed and imagine what gift Draco has for you today. You’d be surprised if he could top the Frog choir. That would be an achievement.
But there was no gift today. No flowers, no chocolate, no clothes, no Frog choir, nothing. You waited for something to catch you off guard, but your day was normal. Which kind of worried you. Did he plan something for the evening? But at dinner, there was nothing. You ate your meal with your friends at one of the Slytherin tables, waiting for Draco’s arrival, but nothing. In fact, you didn’t see Draco at all that day.
You started to get a little concerned. Did something happen to him? Is he sick? Did he get hurt? Is he looking for you? Thoughts flood through your head, but you take your mind off things by engaging in conversation with the people around you.
Finally, you return back to your dormitory for the night, surprised that nothing happened today. Completely uneventful. It was a bummer; you looked forward to teasing Draco again today.
You slipped into your nightclothes and took your hair down from its ponytail, shaking it out along with the worries and anxieties of the day. As you pull back your sheets, you hear a knock at the door. You had assumed it was Daphne, considering she wasn’t back in the room yet and she had forgotten her keys yet again. “Daph, you have to remember your keys. I won’t always be home,” you look up and don’t see Daphne, but instead Draco. “Oh. Hi.”
Draco looks exhausted. Like he hasn’t gotten sleep at all. He has bags under his eyes and his face looks a little paler than normal. He stands before you in his clothes from yesterday. Your concern for his well being rises. But before you can say anything further, he talks. “I don’t know what else to do to prove that I like you, (Y/N). I’ve done it all, but I’m going to do one last thing and if you still don’t want me after this, then I will stop by all means,” he says as you just watch him. “I thought about what I wanted to say to you all day and all night, but all I can say is this. I am my happiest when I am around you. You never fail to make me laugh. You make my head fuzzy and my chest warm and you make me want to be a better person which is just absurd,” he confesses making you giggle. “I like you, (Y/N). I want you to be mine. Please. Be mine.”
And with that, you waste no time in kissing the poor bloke in front of you. The moment your lips touch, his arms are wrapped around you. Your hands cup his face, pulling him close. The kiss is full of all of the longing and wanting you both had been doing for the past two years. It’s sweet and kind and passionate and hungry all at the same, making your head reel and your stomach do flips. It felt otherworldly.
As you pull away, the both of you breathless, you say, “That’s all you had to do. You just had to say it.”
Draco’s face drops. “You’re bloody joking,” he huffs. “I spent so much money on all of those gifts and you just wanted me to say some sappy words? That’s the dumbest things I’ve ever heard!” he exclaims as you laugh, kissing him again, sweetly. “I guess it was worth it,” he shrugs.
That night, you both fall asleep in your bed, Draco cuddling you from behind as you both have the best night sleep of your life. As you sleep, Daphne comes it and notices you two curled up together. “Finally,” she exhales with a smile.

6. Claire
She was running through the chaotic streets of Raccoon City. The hordes of undead tailing right behind her with their horrid growls and that putrid smell of the dead. She had run out of ammo, which meant that if she got cornered, she was in trouble.
She had gotten separated from Leon, and she did not even know if the young man was still alive at all.
Claire took a turn and found herself cornered; it was a dead-end, and she had no bullets. The horrid cannibal monsters were moving slowly to her.
It was it; this was her end.
Claire woke up, startled, and she felt the sun rays coming through the holes in the ceiling, hit her on her face. Her breathing was agitated, and she took some seconds to recover.
She hated those nightmares. They were a recurrent thing, but it had been a while since she dreamt of Raccoon. The city where everything began vanished. With the years, the memories from the place had gotten buried under fresher incidents. Her nightmares were often about nonsense or about places she had visited more recently.
Claire looked around her, remembering where she was. It was morning already, and Leon did not wake her for the shift.
She was slightly annoyed, but at the same time, she was grateful. She knew Leon had done it to let her recover.
She stretched and grabbed her head. The pain was still there, but it was significantly lesser, and her vision was back to normal, too, which meant the effects of the hit were starting to pass.
"Hey, good morning, sleeping beauty," Leon greeted her, and she rolled her eyes.
Claire had forgotten how much of a charmer Leon was when it came to dealing with ladies. Their interactions were on the friendly side, and he had long stopped using his flirty tones on her, so it was the first time in years that she heard him use that tone with her.
"Good morning, cheater," she answered, "I thought we agreed you would wake me up for a guard shift."
Leon snorted.
"I tried, but you just fell asleep again."
"I...I did?" Claire answered in shock.
"Yeah, after saying you wanted ten more minutes," Leon smirked, "Besides, you looked to be enjoying yourself. When was the last time you had a good night of sleep?"
When was it? Claire tried to remember when was the last time she had slept more than three hours without interruptions, but she couldn't remember. Between nightmares and work, she had skipped a lot of sleeping hours in the last few months. Naturally, Claire would not tell him about that.
"What is that supposed to mean?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I am just asking," he replied, shaking his head. "You just looked like you had not slept well in a while."
"Well, I hardly think that sleeping in a dilapidated cottage surrounded by mutant monsters can be considered a good sleep."
Leon snorted.
"Anywhere is a good place when you are exhausted," he reasoned.
Claire was not going to argue that. She had to admit that even though it had not been the best sleeping in her existence, she had rested nicely that night. She was not in her best shape, but at least she would not be as useless now.
"I am not discussing my sleep patterns with you, Leon," Claire sighed. "We should head out and try to find a way out of here."
"Yeah, but first, let me see your head."
Claire did not argue, and she allowed the agent to check her. After some minutes, he stood and helped Claire on her feet. The auburn headed accepted his hand and pushed herself up. She tested her stability and was rejoiced to see that she wasn't dizzy anymore. However, her head still hurt, and if she made the wrong move, she was sure she would stumble.
"How is your head?" Leon asked.
"Stingy, but alright. I am ready to go."
"Are you sure? I think we can afford some minutes if you need them."
"No, I'm ok. Let's move."
"Ok. I tried to contact Hunnigan several times yesterday. My signal still has interference, but I think I managed to connect. She might be able to track our location, and I am sure your dear brother will be here soon."
"Yeah, with the big guns, I supposed."
"I just hope he won't use them against me."
"Nah, not even Chris is that unreasonable, and if it makes you feel better, I can talk on your behalf," Claire chuckled, "he usually listens to me."
"I bet he does."
"Alright, then. We must try to stay in one piece until then," Claire reasoned, "We can try to gather supplies as we go, but I don't think our captors have left ammo lying around for us."
"One never knows," Leon said, checking his gun, "So, just like old times?"
"Yeah, I guess you don't get the pleasure of going solo this time, superagent," Claire smirked, picking her rifle and walking out.
"I have no complaints about my partner," she heard Leon mutter behind her.
The place looked a lot different in daylight. Compared to other places she had been, Claire was pleased to see a change of scenery. The sight of trees, grasslands, and the fresh air was a nice change from the acrid air of tunnels and underground facilities.
"Oh, that's right," Claire said, "The locals here..."
"Yeah, they are infected by an improved strain of Plagas."
"An improved strain of Plagas?" Claire said.
"Hum, yeah. I had the pleasure of dealing with it some years ago, during a mission in the East Slav Republic. Aim at their heads, but be careful since some of them can mutate after being destroyed."
"I guess that makes sense. I thought the symptoms looked familiar, but I couldn't quite connect them to anything I knew," Claire nodded, "I guess you've been busy, Leon."
"I could say the same about you."
Claire chuckled. They all had been busy. Chris and the BSAA were always fighting in the frontlines when an attack came, while Leon and the DSO worked diligently tracking terrorists, as well. Claire wondered if she would ever get to spend a day with her family and friends like any other person.
"What can I say? Work is a demanding boyfriend," Claire shrugged.
"Well, you sure have a singular taste for your boyfriends. Have you not thought of getting a real one for a change?"
Claire snorted at the suggestion. Getting a real boyfriend was something she had long given up. Her work demands rarely gave her free time, and what was the point of having a relationship when she had no time to dedicate to it?
"I am fine. I never had a real one when I was young, and the Racoon City mess just put an end to any attempts. It doesn't matter."
"You didn't have a boyfriend before this began? Somehow I find that hard to believe."
"Really? Why?"
"When I met you, you looked like the kind of girl that any guy would chase around."
"Oh, well. I suppose there were guys interested, but if Chris didn't chase them away, it was my personality who spooked them."
"Chris scared off your potential guys?"
"Yeah, something like that, but it wasn't all his fault. I played my part, scaring some, too. "
"I can't see how you would do that."
Claire snorted.
"Please, Leon. Honestly, I am surprised you were not scared the first time we met. What guy feels comfortable with a tomboyish girl who handles guns and fights as I did?"
"I think that was what I liked most from you..." Leon answered sincerely. "You were not of those girls who waited for someone to save her."
"Well, I guess you have a weird taste, as well," Claire laughed, "Besides, my luck with men sucks. Either they get killed, or they turn out to be traitors..."
Claire sighed. Why was she telling him this? Leon had no interest in that, but surprisingly, she found that telling him these things was easy.
"What do you mean with that?" Leon asked curiously, "Any ex-boyfriend that I haven't heard of?"
Claire stopped in her tracks and turned to look at him skeptically.
"Leon, you can't be talking seriously."
"Why not? I'm trying to catch up. It's been ages since we had a casual conversation," Leon said, "When was the last time we talked about something that was not related to a mission?"
He was right. Even their friendly calls ended up being about their missions and their jobs. They rarely talked about anything outside of that. They had crossed paths in one or two of the BSAA meetings, but they had never stopped to chat about things outside their work.
"So, ex-boyfriends?"
"None," Claire sighed, "I met a couple of nice guys once, but they got killed in an outbreak. Then years later, I met this colleague at TerraSave. I thought he was a decent guy, but it turned out he was selling us as guinea pigs to Alex Wesker in exchange for a sample of Ouroboros. As I said, my luck with men sucks."
Leon didn't answer. He continued to listen to her as she spoke.
"Looking at the bright side, Chris gets to brag about being the only man in my life."
"That's a lie," Leon said, "You have other men in your life."
"I suppose I might, but I have morals, Leon. I can't call someone taken as my man," Claire chuckled, "What about charmer?"
"What about me? I guess I am the same as you. My job is a demanding girlfriend."
"Really? There I thought you would have made some progress with Ada."
"Sorry to disappoint you, but Ada and I have a different kind of relationship."
"Yeah, right. That's what you call it."
Claire chuckled in amusement at Leon's look. She knew those two had something between them. That was the main reason why Claire had given up the idea of getting together with Leon in the first place. Even if she had a crush on him back then, Leon's thoughts were always about Ada, and she could not compete against that.
"Oh, Leon..." Claire said, looking ahead.
Leon looked as well and gave her a silent nod. The two jumped into some bushes and stayed low as a group of infected locals walked past them. To their relief, none of the infected noticed them, and so far, there had been no signs from the mutant creatures that Claire had met the night before.
"I think the wisest move now is to avoid conflict unless it is necessary," Leon said.
"I am with you with that. You'll want to save your bullets for the big ones," Claire nodded, looking at him.
"Big ones?" Leon asked with a frown.
"Yeah, nasty things. They took me by surprise yesterday, and I blew up the town in panic. The explosion was a little bigger than I thought, but well, I was desperate, and I wasn't thinking clearly."
"I didn't meet any last night," Leon said, "but I trust your word, any idea of what it is?"
"Nope. I've never seen anything like it. I dare say it might be a new strain. I guess we get the privilege to test them."
"What an honor," Leon said sarcastically. "Alright, so plan. We need to figure out the terrain, so I think we should try to find a good vantage point to look at what we are facing. There's a rocky cliff in that direction, do you see it?"
"Yup, I do."
"I hope you are in the mood for hiking."
"Leon, if you know me the way you say you do, you'll know I'll never be in the mood for hiking."
Leon smirked.
"But I'll do what I've got to do."
"That's the spirit," he said, "Don't worry. I can carry you if you get tired."
"Excuse you. I might dislike hikes, but I don't need anyone to carry me."
"Of course. It's nice to see that good old Claire is still there."
"The old Claire has always been here," she said, winking at him. "Just improved..."
And broken, too.
Claire followed Leon as he led her through the forest. She was not usually the kind to follow the lead quietly, but she did not feel the energy to act on her own now. There was some comfort in Leon's company that gave her a sense of reassurance. It was a similar feeling to what she felt when Chris was nearby.
The thought was naive and perhaps a little silly, but something about having them close always made Claire feel like nothing could ever harm her. Realistically speaking, it was nonsense, but psychologically, it was something different.
"Strange..."
Leon's whisper pulled Claire out of her thoughts. The woman looked at the agent, who was standing protectively by her side.
"I expected more hostiles, but we've barely encountered some Plagas infected. Don't you find it odd?"
Claire pondered the question. He had a point. Things were unusually calm compared to the hell she had faced the night before. It was almost as if daylight had brought them some peace.
"Well, it is a very different scenario from last night," Claire agreed, "Perhaps they are more active at night."
It was a wild guess, but it was the only excuse she could come up with to explain it.
"That's not a common trait when it comes to Plagas, but you might be right," Leon reasoned, "Well, then maybe we should restrict our moves to daytime. It might slow us down, but between speed and safety, I vouch for the latter. Especially if there's limited ammo in the equation."
Claire nodded. Moving in the daylight had its other benefits too. They had better visibility so they could avoid hostiles with more ease, and if the lack of the nasty monsters was a hint, then maybe they were indeed safer during the day.
"Yeah, that might be the best," she sighed.
"Don't worry. We'll make it out of this one."
"Yeah, I know," she nodded, "Leon..."
"Yeah?"
"Thank you."
That caught Leon by surprise. The blonde turned to look at her quizzically, and she smiled at him weakly.
"What for?"
"Eh, well. I don't know. For being here now, I mean," Claire said shyly, "I suppose it was hard to reach me, and you didn't have to, yet...you are here."
Leon looked at her and smiled, shaking her head.
"Don't be silly," he said, "You don't need to thank me for that. If it hadn't been me, it would have been your brother, but neither of us would let them take you away so easily."
Claire smiled. He was right. Chris would never stand doing nothing while she was getting kidnapped.
"Yeah, you might be right."
Leon put his hand on her shoulder, and she found the touch comforting.
"I wanted to ask you," he said as they began to walk again, "Do you have any idea of what they would want to kidnap you?"
That was a good question. Claire wasn't sure herself.
"Your guess is as good as mine," she sighed. "I receive a lot of hate mail, so maybe it is someone who holds a grudge against me. I don't know. It could be someone targeting Chris, too. Both of us have rubbed some people the wrong way for a while."
Leon didn't reply. He walked lost in his thoughts, and for a moment, Claire wondered about what he was thinking.
That's none of your business, Claire.
Claire shook her head and kept on walking behind him, pushing the thoughts away.

Happy Resurrection Day
A short fic in celebration of Dean and Cas’s 12th anniversary!
Rated: T Words: 3652
Summary: The world didn't end, and Dean and Cas finally get to choose each other. It only took twelve years and a little road trip back to where it all started.
Read it here on AO3
One random morning in mid-September, a few months after the world was left in their hands once and for all, Dean woke up to the nagging feeling he was forgetting something. There wasn’t really much to forget anymore. There was no looming apocalypse, no new catastrophe on the horizon. The biggest dilemma he’d faced in the last few days was whether he had enough milk to make pancakes, or whether he’d have to run out to the store before breakfast.
Sure, he and Cas took the occasional salt and burn. Easy hunts they could usually dust in a day. Sam had taken an extended road trip to see the country and try to figure out what he wanted to do with himself now that he was truly free to explore what life after Chuck could look like, but Dean already knew. He’d known for a good long time that he loved his life, loved the bunker, and loved hunting. And for whatever reason, Cas had just decided to stay, no strings attached. Whether Dean was itching to get out on the road for a long weekend on the slimmest excuse of a hunt that just as often as not turned into a detour to some tourist trap or other, or whether Dean just wanted to sit at home bingeing an old tv series or having a movie marathon, Cas seemed equally content with the slate of activities Dean conjured up for them.
He hadn’t put it into so many words, and he definitely hadn’t said it to Cas, but Dean also loved that Cas had stayed with him.
So it was strange waking up with an unsettled swirling in the pit of his stomach. He held a hand up to his forehead, checked his eyes and throat in the mirror to make sure he wasn’t coming down with something. He didn’t want to get Cas sick, if he was. He’d already survived Cas’s first cold as a human, just barely. They went through so much soup in a week, Dean was starting to wonder if Cas was just milking it for the room service. He had to admit that Cas letting him walk him through the highlights of Dr. Sexy while he was curled up in a blanket nest by his side wasn’t the worst thing he’d had to endure. But for now, Dean wasn’t sick. He just had a restlessness in his bones and no idea how to cure it.
He pulled on his robe and ambled out to the kitchen. Coffee would help him figure out what was eating at him, surely. Only Cas had beat him to it, which was unusual enough to amp up that uneasy feeling. Dean usually beat Cas to the kitchen most mornings, so walking in to a full pot of coffee and no other sign of Cas had him wondering if something was wrong. He poured himself a cup and set off in search of Cas, and whatever he was up to so early in the morning.
He found Cas sitting at the table in the library scrolling around on the internet. Dean just stood in the doorway and watched him for a moment, studying his posture as if it might give him some clue what sort of mood Cas was in. Human or not, Cas still had the intense focus he’d always had as an angel, and aside from pausing to take a sip of his coffee or navigate to the next page, he barely moved from his position hunched over the keyboard. Rather than startle him, Dean waited until Cas put his mug down before clearing his throat to announce his presence.
“Mornin’ sunshine. You’re up early.”
“Hello, Dean,” Cas said, giving him a guilty glance before going back to his work. “Yes, I had been hoping to surprise you later, but I apparently didn’t wake up early enough for that. I hope you slept okay.”
Dean shrugged as he walked around the table and sat down across from Cas. He took a sip of his coffee before replying.
“Mostly. Woke up feeling restless, and I couldn’t figure out why.”
Cas nodded at him as if he understood exactly what Dean meant. “I did, as well. And then I checked the calendar. I assume you know what today is?”
Dean’s brow furrowed as he performed a few calculations. Days all sort of blended together after a while, but they’d made a trip up to Henderson for supplies on Wednesday, and that was only a couple days before.
“Friday?” Dean eventually replied, hoping he was right.
Cas laughed, but shook his head. “It is Friday, but it’s also September 18th.”
Dean blinked at him for a moment as he mentally rocketed back to a run down old gas station where the windows shattered the first time Cas had ever tried to introduce himself. He’d just clawed his way out of his own grave, and the local newspaper had helpfully supplied him the date, and the knowledge that he’d been in hell all of four months. No wonder he’d woken up feeling weird. He might’ve forgotten the date, but somewhere deep down, some part of him would always know it.
Dean came back to himself to find Cas waiting patiently for him, like he always did. He took another sip of his coffee and set the mug down, recalling what Cas had said before sending him off down disturbing memory lane. Better to focus on the present than linger in that particular bit of the past.
“So you were planning a surprise?”
Cas shrugged. “I thought maybe we should do something to celebrate. People celebrate these sorts of milestones, yes?”
Dean wobbled his head side to side and made a face. “Pretty sure Hallmark dosn’t make a card for this one.”
Cas frowned, reaching up to shut the laptop as if he’d made some terrible faux pas, but Dean quickly dropped his hand atop Cas’s to stop him.
“Doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate it anyway,” he said more quietly, smiling at Cas. “It was a pretty noteworthy occasion, you pulling me outta hell. What did you have in mind?”
Cas’s frown deepened. “That’s where I’ve been stuck all morning. It felt inappropriate to suggest going to visit your gravesite, and taking you out to dinner seems… trite, in light of the occasion.”
“You know me, Cas. I’m always up for food,” Dean replied, trying to lighten the mood. “Plus it wasn’t just about me being un-dead, you know. It’s the whole reason we met in the first place. And look how that turned out.”
Cas had finally begun to smile again, and turned his attention back to the computer. “We didn’t actually meet face to face until late the next night when you summoned me. There was a bit of a delay due to unforeseen circumstances.”
Dean thought about that for a minute, nodding as he remembered the events of his first few days back on earth. “Well, if you wanna do it right, we could always take a road trip back to that old barn, see if it’s still standing.”
“Have you been back there since then?” Cas asked, curious now.
Dean shook his head. “Driven by it a few times over the years, but never went back inside. The whole farm’s completely overgrown. I figured someone would’ve gotten freaked out by all the weird symbols and burned the place down by now. It was still standing as of a couple years ago.” That got Dean curious. “Have you been back?”
“It’s been a while,” Cas said quietly. “I used to fly there sometimes, when I still could. It was a quiet place to think.”
Dean nodded slowly. “Then that’s what we should do. We’re taking a road trip. I know at least three great diners between here and there I haven’t taken you to yet. We can make a whole weekend out of it.”
“That sounds wonderful,” Cas replied, finally shutting the computer.
“Good. Breakfast first, then we’ll head out. Have ourselves a little resurrection day road trip.”
Dean grabbed his mug and stood up. He’d need to get dressed and pack a bag. They could have a quick breakfast if they were gonna be stopping at Dana’s Diner for lunch. It was a bit of a detour, but the burgers were worth it. He flashed a grin at Cas.
“I’m gonna pack a bag and grab some cereal before we hit the road. Meet you in the kitchen in 20?”
Cas nodded and shut the laptop. As Dean made his way out to the hall, he heard Cas mutter quietly, “Happy Resurrection Day,” as if he was testing out the sentiment. He bit his lip to keep from laughing out loud.
The drive to Illinois took most of the day. It could’ve been a lot quicker, but in addition to Dana’s, they hit a steakhouse on the outskirts of Chicago for dinner before swinging back south toward their destination. Dean bypassed the Astoria Motel where a mirrored ceiling shattered by Cas’s angelic voice had once nearly killed him. He pointed it out as part of their trip down memory lane, but pulled up at a different motel clear across town with the excuse that it would be a shorter drive back to the barn in the morning. Their room was a lot less shabby, and a lot less pay-by-the-hour feeling than the Astoria, so Dean felt it was a win all around.
As they settled in for the night like they had every night they’d been on the road together, Dean let himself really feel the usual longing the three foot chasm between their beds brought out in him. Most nights he’d just roll over and pretend to fall asleep while mashing that feeling down as hard as he could. Tonight, though, he lay in bed staring across that gap, wishing he could make some excuse to crawl into the other bed. Of all nights, and in this particular place, he really just wanted someone to hug until dawn.
The specific someone being Cas.
In the dark, in the quiet listening to Cas’s breathing even out as he drifted off, for one moment Dean allowed himself to admit that he didn’t just love that Cas had stayed with him. He loved Cas. Full stop. Dean lay there until he couldn’t keep his eyes open any longer, holding on to that feeling and knowing he’d have to crush it back down in the morning.
He dreamt of what could’ve happened in that barn, if he hadn’t stabbed Cas that first time they’d met. With twelve years of history between them now, and Dean’s quiet revelation that he was in love with Cas, his dream-self went through a series of alternate endings to that meeting ranging from love confessions to things that he would definitely not be enumerating to Cas over breakfast the next morning. It made for an excellent night’s slumber.
Morning came without the restlessness the previous day had. Dean opened his eyes to the dawn light seeping between the curtains to shine a golden spotlight on Cas’s face, which was smiling back at him.
“Hello, Dean. I take it you slept better last night?”
Dean yawned, but didn’t quite feel like getting up yet. He wanted to enjoy this surreal moment for just a bit longer. Instead he stretched out under the blankets and propped himself up on his pillow to get a better look at Cas.
“Yeah, you?”
Cas propped himself up on his elbow, no longer in the little beam of light, and blinked at him. “I’m reserving judgment until after we have coffee, but yes. It seems to have been satisfactory.” Cas frowned for a second, and Dean was about to ask what was wrong, when Cas asked, puzzled, “If yesterday was Resurrection Day, what does that make today?”
Dean must’ve still been a bit loopy from his late night thoughts, the restful sleep, and what he could recall of the dream he’d been having. He never would’ve blurted it out around a yawn otherwise, but that’s exactly what he did.
“It’s countdown to Cas day.”
He froze for a second after the words had escaped into the wild, and then slowly turned to take in the fond look on Cas’s face.
“I’m already here, Dean.”
“Yeah, well, you weren’t twelve years ago. I didn’t even know your name yet.”
“You do now,” Cas replied. “How should we celebrate it? Since I sincerely hope you weren’t dead set on a complete reenactment. I don’t have the power to rattle the roof or blow open the doors anymore.”
Dean grinned at that and sat up. “Yeah, I don’t really wanna shoot you, either.”
“I appreciate that,” Cas replied, sitting up on the edge of his own bed opposite Dean. He looked right into Dean’s eyes, as if attempting to convey some deeper meaning to his words, and spoke quietly. I’m glad you finally believe in me.”
They sat there for a long moment before Dean finally nodded. “‘Course I believe in you, Cas.”
They took turns in the shower and packed up their bags. After a quick breakfast on the way to the farm, they drove down the overgrown dirt road that led to the barn. Dean had to leave the car a good way back down the road, and they hiked through the knee-high scrub to the broken old barn door. Dean picked up a shattered timber and tossed it out of the way as he pushed his way inside.
“Man, this place is a lot less intimidating looking in broad daylight,” he said, as the two of them stood in the doorway and took in the faded symbols Bobby had painted on every surface of the interior. Broken glass still littered the floor, now covered with a heavy layer of dust.
“It looks different now, somehow,” Cas added. “Smaller. Which is strange considering I was so much larger the first time I was here.”
Dean turned to him and smiled. “Yeah, but now you’re seeing it human. It’s gotta be weird.”
Cas shrugged, and walked around the perimeter of the barn, examining the sigils out of old habit. “This has always been a quiet place for me,” he said, touching a warding sigil with his fingertips before continuing on. “Nothing unholy could find me here. I could be alone with my thoughts.”
Dean noticed a few of the sigils Cas stopped by, and didn’t recognize them. A collection of carefully drawn wards drawn much smaller and in a different shade of paint that stood out from all the rest he’d watched Bobby create twelve years ago.
“Did you add those?” he asked.
Cas nodded. “Angel proofing. Or at least, concealing.”
Dean thought back to all the times Cas had been running or hiding from Heaven and the rest of the angels. When he’d been human and had nowhere to go, and instead of coming here he’d run in the opposite direction, because Dean had kicked him out. A bolt of guilt shot through him and nailed his feet to the floor. This was a place Dean hadn’t come back to because it reminded him that he’d been to Hell, reminded him that Heaven had wanted him for their own for reasons that frankly horrified him now. But for Cas, this was the place Dean had first met him, a place that for him would forever be about the moment he was truly introduced to humanity. It had been kind of a shit introduction, if Dean was honest with himself. But twelve years later, after all the shit had played itself out, Cas had finally made his own choice about his life, and he’d come back to where it all began.
“Happy resurrection day,” Dean said as he stared at Cas from across the room.
Cas turned to him, the look of surprise on his face quickly turning to a smile. “It is a bit like a resurrection, isn’t it? We’ve come all the way back around to where it started, and we’re free of it all now.”
Dean just nodded dumbly, letting the enormity of it sink in as Cas walked over to stand in front of him.
“I don’t have wings or the power of Heaven at my back, but I do recall something I said to you that night. Good things do happen, Dean. And they have.”
“And here we are again,” Dean said, clearing his throat. Both of their lives had changed that night, and they’d spent so much of their time fighting against everything in the universe since then. The one constant had always been each other, even when they’d totally fucked it all up and broken the natural order and sacrificed themselves to fix it all again, they’d done it to save each other. At the end of the road, and the beginning of their journey, Dean couldn’t keep his feelings bottled up any longer. “I love you, you know.”
Cas sucked in a shocked breath of air and blinked at him for a moment, before a grin broke across his face, lighting up the gloomy, dusty haze in the barn. “I love you too, Dean. I’m so glad I’m here with you.”
Dean shook his head, finally prying his feet free to shuffle closer to Cas. He reached out a hand to rest it on Cas’s shoulder, right at the base of his neck. “No, I mean, I love you. I think I always have, and I know I always will, but I only really just figured it out. I’m in love with you and you’ve put me back together in ways you can’t even imagine. You might’ve resurrected me and healed me more times than I can count, but you helped make me a whole person, Cas. And I love you.”
Dean felt the prickling of tears behind his eyes and struggled to hold them back. Like he always did, Cas stared into him, right through him, and lifted a hand to Dean’s cheek.
“I’d hoped it was obvious when I chose humanity, when I chose to stay with you, that I felt the same way for you, Dean. I didn’t have any idea how much knowing you would change me, how much you would teach me about humanity and what makes life worth living when I first walked through those doors. One thing I did know, though, was that I already loved you. I had no idea what that even meant yet, but I would learn.”
A slightly manic laugh escaped Dean’s lips at the euphoria of hearing Cas’s words, seeing the heartbreaking honesty in his face, and wondering how long it was polite to wait before kissing him. Cas gave him a relieved smile, as if he’d been holding it all in far too long, and Dean let out a sigh as he pulled Cas to him.
“Love at first stab, huh?” Dean asked, smiling right into Cas’s face.
“Don’t belittle it, Dean. I loved you even before then. The moment I laid a hand on you in Hell. Healing your soul and reuniting it with your body, resting you gently in your grave and waiting for you to emerge again.”
“You do know how fucked up that was, right? You couldn’t have just dug me out?”
Cas’s brow furrowed. “It was Heaven’s orders. I never thought to question them. But yes, it has bothered me many times over the years.”
“Yeah, well, it’s bothered me more than once that I tried to thank you for saving me from Hell by stabbing you in the heart.”
“It worked, though,” Cas replied, one eyebrow raised. “I’m still here with you.”
“Better than cupid’s arrow,” Dean muttered, and then grimaced at his own terrible reference. It amused Cas, though. “Okay, enough awful jokes. Are you gonna kiss me already?”
Cas made a considering face, as if he hadn’t already made up his mind. “Happy resurrection day to both of us, then. I suppose we know exactly how to celebrate it now.”
Dean took that as the invitation it was, and leaned in for a kiss. Their lips met tentatively at first, and then more confidently as they clung to one another in the gloom. The exploding lights were all internal this time, but no less spectacular. Dean shuffled his feet and heard the crunching of broken glass, and reluctantly pulled back from Cas.
“We should probably find someplace less dangerous if we’re gonna keep going…”
Cas nodded his regretful agreement. With one last look around the old barn, they pulled the doors shut.
“We can come back next year, if you want,” Dean said, taking Cas’s hand and leading him back to the car. “Make it an annual thing.”
“That sounds like a plan,” Cas replied. “The annual resurrection road trip.”
“Next year we bring a broom,” Dean added, leading Cas through the weeds. “Maybe a picnic.”
Cas laughed, letting his hand go when they reached the car.
“So what do you wanna do next?” Dean asked as he climbed back behind the wheel. “We still technically got the rest of the day to celebrate.”
“You mentioned several diners you wanted to introduce me to, and it’s nearly time for lunch,” Cas replied.
Dean thought over their options, then leaned across the front seat to plant a kiss on the corner of Cas’s mouth, just because he could. The look of surprised delight on Cas’s face was more than worth it. “How much of a detour are you up for?”
Cas gave him a look of mock pity. “Dean, I’ll go anywhere with you. No detour is too long if I have you to share the journey with.”
Dean gave him a proper kiss, with a promise of more for later. “Then let’s get this show on the road.”

That’s The Idea
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Words: 2820
Warnings: alcohol consumption (drink responsibly, folks)
Summary:  Tony is throwing yet another of his lavish parties. During a quiet moment at the bar with Bucky you decide to finally make your move, but it doesn’t quite go to plan.
Tumblr media
"Apple? Why do you want apples in your whiskey?” he asked incredulously, frowning at the shot glass in your hand.
“Don’t knock it till you try it, Barnes,” you held up the glass in a mock cheers before downing it all in one go. You exhaled deeply before nodding, a smile on your lips. “That’s the spot.”
You could feel the sharp liquid leaving a warm trail as it coursed through your body.
“I still don’t see why you need the apple,” Bucky mumbled, giving the bottle a sniff. “Smells like candy, doll.”
“Kinda tastes like it too,” you grinned. “Filler up, barkeep!”
Bucky’s eyes darted from you to the shot glass in your hand and back to you. “You sure you need more?”
“I’ve only had one shot, let me live a little. I'm not nearly as drunk as I should be for one of Tony Stark's parties,” you whined holding out the shot glass to him.
He snatched the glass as you gently smiled at him, your chin resting on your hands as you leaned on the bar top. “You should wear your hair back more often,” you commented offhandedly. “Gives me a better view of those gorgeous eyes.”
He handed you the full shot glass. “It only takes one shot for you to start revealing your deepest secrets? You’d never last through an interrogation.”
You raised your eyebrow, the shot glass halfway to your lips. “You think that’s one of my deepest secrets?” You threw the shot back. “If I wanted to reveal a secret I would tell you how desperate I am for you to taste this whiskey.”
“I don’t see how that’s a secret,” he frowned. “I could just take a sip from the bottle if you wanted me to taste it so bad.”
Giving him a coy smile you leaned across the bartop, grabbed the front of his shirt, and tugged him to you. “That’s not what I meant,” you murmured, your lips just barely ghosting over his own. Your eyes dipped down to his mouth before meeting his once more. You could hear his sharp inhale, his eyes blown wide in surprise. You released him suddenly, shoving him back with a big grin on your face. “Gotcha.”
Bucky blinked back at you still stunned. Shaking his head he picked up his tumbler and took a long swig of his plain whiskey, the ice cubes clinking softly.
“Cap owes me five bucks,” you laughed as you reached for the bottle and filled up your shot glass yourself. “He said no one could catch you off guard.”
Suddenly, with super soldier reflexes, Bucky reached out and cupped the back of your neck, making you lean across the bar again. Before you could even gasp his lips were at your ear. "Don't start something you can't finish, doll."
His words sent a shiver down your spine. You wanted to say something snappy back but your mind had gone completely blank. As soon as he released you, you took a swig straight from the bottle of apple whiskey, trying to get your heartbeat under control. You'd had a crush on him for a while and this wasn't the first time you'd flirted. However, you had underestimated the effect his touch had on you.
The full shot was still on the bar as you took another swig from the bottle. Bucky reached over and threw it back. He eyed you warily as he licked his lips. "That stuff's dangerous. With all that sugar you'll be drunk off your ass before you even realize it."
"That's the idea," you winked.
Bottle in hand you slid off your barstool and went to mingle with the rest of the team. Most were gathered around Steve and Sam at the pool table. You had no idea who was winning but you loved cracking jokes with Maria Hill at the men's expense.
Steve came around the table, close to where the two of you were perched on a couch.
"Now that is America's ass!" Maria called just as Steve bent over to take his shot.
He gave you both his megawatt smile before returning to the game. Out of the corner of your eye you saw Bucky come up and stand next to the couch, his arms crossed over his broad chest and legs slightly apart. "You know, he had no ass to speak of before the serum," he commented.
"I thought the serum was supposed to enhance what he already had; there must have been something there!" you laughed, looking up at him.
His eyes flicked down to you, a smile tugging at his lips. "Maybe there was," he admitted. "But pants back then didn't show off certain assets too much."
"Well I'm certainly glad that's changed," you winked.
"Me too, doll," his eyes raked over your body. You flushed red at his comment.
After Steve and Sam's face off was over, with Sam reigning victorious, everyone decided it was time to turn in. Maria took the apple whiskey back to its place on her way out as you lingered on the couch.
"C'mon, doll, I'll walk you to your room," Bucky said holding his hand out to you. Even with your hand firmly in his, you swayed a little when you stood. Being drunk sitting and being drunk standing were two very different things. When you looked up at Bucky he was much closer than you realized. For a moment you two stood in silence as you got lost in his steel blue eyes.
Still gazing up at him, you wrapped your arms around his neck and got up on your tiptoes. Just as you leaned in to kiss him, he turned his head slightly. Your lips landed on his cheek instead.
"Why don't you want to kiss me?" you pouted.
"Trust me, I want to kiss you," he assured you pulling you close so your head rested on his shoulder. "But I need you to be sober when I kiss you for the first time. I gotta do this right."
Something in his words squeezed at your heart. You nodded against him, a few tears threatening to spill over. His metal arm tightened around you as he shifted, scooping you up bridal style. "Let's get you off to bed."
"So you won't kiss me, but you'll take me to bed?"
He started to glare down at you before he noticed your wide grin. "You're gonna be the death of me, doll," he chuckled shaking his head slightly.
He carried you as if you weighed nothing. As you traveled upward in the elevator you couldn't help but nuzzle your nose into Bucky's neck. "I like that new cologne you've been using," you whispered, your lips ghosting over his pulse point. Maybe it was your imagination but you could have sworn his breath hitched when you did so.
Your brain swam with ideas about kissing his neck, making your way to his stubbed jaw and those soft lips. You blinked hard a few times trying to clear your head. Bucky's words about wanting to do this right grounded your drunk mind slightly. You were just about to nuzzle his neck again when the elevator doors slid open and you were moving again.
You thought he would drop you at your door and go, but instead he asked FRIDAY for access to your rooms and carried you all the way to your bed. He lowered you gently to the floor before brushing your hair from your face. "Get changed into some pajamas," he instructed you before turning. For a moment you thought he was about to leave you completely. Instead, you watched him intently as he disappeared into your bathroom. You changed as quickly as your heavy limbs would allow. You were just pulling an oversized shirt down over your head when he came back in with a glass of water and painkillers. You pulled back the covers and sighed contentedly as you laid down.
Bucky came over, leaving the water and pills on your nightstand, before tucking you into your bed. "Make sure you drink that water, doll," he murmured as he bent and kissed your forehead softly. Your eyes fluttered closed and there was a small smile on your lips.
As he turned to go you quickly reached out for his hand. "Please stay."
You could see a war wage in his eyes as he gazed down at you. He ran his hands through his hair, sighing. "Alright, but no funny business."
"Aye aye, sarge," you yawned sleepily, your eyes closing again.
You felt the bed dip behind you as he sat on the edge to remove his shoes. You heard them and his pants hit the floor. Before he pulled the covers back and got under them with you. You knew he was there but you needed to feel him. You rolled over onto your other side so you could face him. He was laying on his back, staring at the ceiling.
You reached out, taking his hand into yours. "Thank you for taking care of me."
"Anything for my best girl," Bucky whispered, barely audible, giving your hand a squeeze.
You were sound asleep moments later.
You woke up early, light barely filtering in from behind your curtains. Your mouth felt like it was full of cotton and your head was being squeezed in a vice. You groggily wondered how water and painkillers got to be on your nightstand before downing them both. With a sigh you burrowed back into your covers. You were just drifting off again when there was suddenly a heavy weight across your middle. Your eyes flew open and you were about to flip over when you remembered.
Bucky. You had asked Bucky to stay and he had. He gently pulled you to him so your back was flush against his hard chest. You knew you were blushing hard but you couldn't help smiling. You didn't know how Bucky would react to waking up in this position so you decided to savor it. You entwined your fingers with his where they rested on your stomach. You sighed contentedly before relaxing again. As your eyelids started to grow heavy, you gave Bucky's hand one last squeeze. You may have dreamt it, but you swore he pulled you a little closer.
The next time you awoke the sun was fully out and you were completely spread out, alone in your bed. Thankfully your headache was gone but you were still wildly thirsty. You swung your legs over the side of the bed and stretched. You stumbled to the bathroom to wash the rest of the makeup from last night off your face. You were a little sad he wasn't still there but maybe it was for the best. You had kind of embarrassed yourself the night before.
As you turned the corner into the kitchen you ran into something. Strong arms steadied you as you looked up into Bucky's eyes.
"I thought you left," you said a little shocked.
"Can't get rid of me that easy," he chuckled, taking a step back. "I was just coming to wake you. I made breakfast."
You looked up at him in wonder. "You made breakfast?"
"Pancakes to be exact," he said rubbing the back of his neck. You could have sworn he was blushing. He turned then and headed over to the island where he had two places set, plates piled high with pancakes.
As you followed him you realized he was still dressed in what he had gone to sleep in: a black t-shirt, red plaid boxers, and black socks. He still sported the bun from the night before, though a few strands had been tugged loose in his sleep, framing his face. You decided sleep rumpled Bucky was your favorite Bucky yet.
As you sat and ate your pancakes together, your arms would brush every so often as he reached for his glass of orange juice or you cut another piece off your stack of pancakes. Every touch sent a jolt through your body. You wanted to be wrapped in his arms again.
When you were done Bucky cleared your plates and put them in the dishwasher. "Thank you for breakfast. I think those are the best pancakes I've ever had," you smiled shyly at him.
"Anything for my best girl," he smiled back, coming to stand in front of you as you still sat on the stool. He took another step forward, forcing you to part your legs so he could stand between them. His eyebrows were furrowed as he stared down at you.
"What's wrong?" You blushed under such scrutiny from the man. "Is there something on my face?"
"Actually," he reached out, cupping your head in his hands, titling your face up. "You've got a little syrup there."
Before you could ask where, Bucky leaned down and kissed you. It was gentle and perfect and everything you had hoped it would be. Too soon he was pulling away to rest his forehead against yours. "Got it," he murmured.
"You know, now that you mention it," you murmured. "I think you've got some syrup there too."
With a grin you pressed your lips to his. As you kissed, you stood, wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling your body flush against his. You felt Bucky's arms wrap around you before he was lifting you up onto the counter. Your lips never even broke apart. In this new position, with Bucky pressed between your open legs, you were slightly taller than him.
Eventually you had to pull away, breathing heavily. Bucky wrapped his arms around your middle as he nuzzled his face into your neck, just as you had done to him the night before.
"You know what?" you murmured into his hair. He simply hummed in question. "You were right."
He pulled back slightly to look you in the eyes, confusion evident. "Right about what?"
"Waiting till I was sober was definitely the right thing to do," you replied, brushing his hair back from his face. "Now I can recall this with perfect clarity whenever I want."
"Or," he turned his head slightly so he could kiss your palm, his eyes sparkling. "You can just kiss me whenever you want."
"That’s the idea," you smiled before leaning forward and catching his lips in another searing kiss. Placing his hands under your thighs, Bucky took a step back. With a small squeal you latched your arms and legs around him.
He walked over to your couch, sitting down heavily with you straddling his lap. You kept your arms wrapped around his shoulders as he stroked his hands up and down your thighs. You don't know how long you sat there in a comfortable silence, but at last you leaned back slightly to look at him. "I don't know if you had any other plans for today, but if you don't you could stay here and we could watch movies and order takeout?" You didn't know why you sounded so unsure of yourself, but part of you was terrified that he was just going to dump you off his lap and flee at any moment.
To your amazement he burst out in a dazzling smile. "I'd love that, doll."
You smiled back with a sigh of relief. "You can look through my movie collection while I shower. I feel gross after so much alcohol."
You kissed him quickly on the lips before climbing off his lap.
"I could join you!" he called as you disappeared into your room.
You poked your head out the door to find him grinning at you from over the back of the couch. With a smile you rolled your eyes and went back into your room. After you'd showered and changed, you walked back out to the living room to find Bucky sitting cross legged on the floor in front of your shelves of movies. He had a small stack next to him.
"It'll take us days to watch all of those," you pointed out.
He tilted his head back to look at you. "That's the idea," he grinned.
With a small smile you leaned forward, took his face in your hands, and kissed him upside down. As you went to pull away, Bucky spun so he was facing you before tugging you down onto his lap. You let out a small squeak of surprise before his lips were back on yours, moving in perfect sync together. You didn't know how long you spent straddling his lap there on the floor, but when you finally pulled apart you were both out of breath.
“At this rate we’ll never get to any of these movies,” you murmured, your hands trailing up his sides under his shirt.
He leaned forward to kiss you again. Just before your lips met, he grinned. “That’s the idea.”

A Slice Through The Heart
Genre: Suggestive Au, Friends to Lovers
Members: Seungmin and Beomgyu
Warnings: suggestive
Word Count: 1.5k
(Part 0ne)
Tumblr media
You were looking at your two bestfriends who were watching t.v through the open shelf that was a distance between the two rooms. They came to your apartment as soon as you called them to tell them that you would be free this weekend after several weeks of working during this time. They were quick to prepare their stuffs to spend these two nights with you since it's been so long you three had a sleepover. While the pizza slices were heating up in the oven, you kept looking at them with glistening eyes and wondered how you got to have these two boys as your bestfriends and you thought, "If they weren't my friends, I would date any of the two or even both haha........ wait can I...?!?"
The interrogations you had with your own self was cut off by the sound of the oven signalling that it you could take the food out and join them again. You don't know what happened to you that night but you felt a shift and maybe it was for the best. They didn't have girlfriends and loved you a lot so maybe they have thought of it. However you couldn't just ask them like that, so instead a plan that involved one slice of pizza was the just the right idea. .. ... .. hopefully.
You went past Seungmin and and sat between the two. "Did I miss a lot", you asked.
Seungmin, "Not really."
Beomgyu, "Yeah nothing important."
While eating your pizza, you realised you had a last one left and that is when you decided to go for it. Your drink was next to Seungmin's side over the table that was beside it and with a brisk movement you pointed towards your drink and asked him to hand it to you. You knew your hand was holding your last slice and you hoped that moving it quickly enough with the smallest tilt would be sufficient for whatever toppings on the pizza to fall. on . his. lap. And it worked!!
He didn't notice since he moved his head to look at your drink to grab it but it didn't matter cause that was only the first step. "Oops, sorry Seung" and you took the hand that was still holding the pizza, turned to the surface with the toppings that was facing down and lowered your hands onto his lap to 'remove what you accidentally dropped on him'. His firm grip on your drink, loosened while it was still on the wooden surface and he turned to look at you with surprised eyes, though ..... you didn't know if it was become of the mess you made, your hand covering his lap or perhaps both but you did what you planned for the 3rd step on your plan. "Oml, what was I thinking", you lifted your hand and placed the slice onto the low table that was infront and swiftly went down close to his legs before he could do anything to change the course of the situation.
Seungmin: "Oh nono, it's alright, I did bring extra clothes for a reason, hahaha" he uttered with some confusion planted into his words and obvious in his eyes.
You: "Oh well, wait before let me just remove the toppings that fell on you, I mean, if you get up it's going to fall on the floor so yeah let me just do that"
And you did just that while both him and Beomgyu who was already fixated on your actions, looked at you and then turned to look at each other with questioning eyes. But you couldn't blame them and you have to admit though your bold moves, your nervosity was burning you inside, well that and the fact that Seungmin's bulge was visibly throbbing through his black pants which made you even more hot inside.
You: "Seungmin" he blinked before snapping out of his thoughts as he was still processing everything that have just occurred, "Are you, like you know, hard" you teased him and the blush on his cheeks seemed contagious as Beomgyu felt the same feeling since he was still looking at the both of you.
"Do not tell me you have a kink for pizza or maybe food in general haha", you continued while joking to calm him down since you realised he was at a loss for words.
Seungmin: "Oh ummm no..... why would u say that?" he murmured as if his embarrassment restrained his voice. And it was so cute but right now you wanted more than that.
You: "Well you know, I could help you, just like you both came here to help me, well maybe not help, but still came to stay with me when I called, so you know I could..."
Beomgyu: "You could what?" he asked since Seungmin was still trying to find words to say.
You looked at Seungmin while raising your hand to caress his chin, "Give you a blowjob". You can't deny, you were internally screaming, cause since when were you craving your bestfriends' attention in a not so friendly way. However both Seungmin and Beomgyu had a crush on you. They even talked about it together and also decided to choose the friendship you three had over the risk of breaking it. They thought long and hard about it, talked for several days and even getting to discuss about how amazing you are, how beautiful you look and how your features drives them crazy which also lead them to jerk off to a picture of you.
So now after everything they both settled and you now asking this kind of question, they didn't know how to react, mostly Seungmin who you were talking to. On hearing these words Beomgyu was brought back to the conversations he had with Seungmin about you who was now so turned on and ready to facefuck you if you it weren't for Beomgyu.
"Well at least let me clean the sauce that got on your pants", you said while moving your face closer to his bulge and specifically started to lick the sauce that got there first. "Oh did it feel great, feeling his cock pulsations with your tongue and how he got harder from your motions."
He was looking at you, loving it so much. You felt just how he imagined it and he was still clothed. He didn't know if he had to stop you or let you finish what you started but just right then "What are you both doing?" Beomgyu said with his voice raised. You stopped your movements as you elevated your head to look at Beomgyu.
You: "Beomgyu why are you screaming?"
Beomgyu: "Screaming, how am I screaming, maybe I just can't hear myself with the sound of you sucking dick", he shouted even louder. Though you weren't sucking anything yet his point was clear at least for him as you were still quite uncertain but it took only a few seconds for him to just reveal his heart to you.
Beomgyu: "I love you, I fucking love you and I've always dreamt of asking you to be mine and spend the rest of this life with you but ..... but ..... Seungmin told me that he felt the same way towards you and ........ and we decided to choose our friendship over it", he said as the volume of his voice diminished and eventually became soft and emotional.
Upon hearing this story your heart kind of reprimanded you for what you just did but it didn't last long since you you could separate your emotions to your thoughts and rapidly came to the conclusion that, they loved you too. And maybe if you didn't have this slice of pizza to help you, you would have never known about this secret they kept from you. You felt an urge of strong emotion flooding you as you realised that you were meant to be, all of you three and it took this circumstance for you to confess and you to recognise the feelings you had for your bestfriends.
Beomgyu was staring at the ceiling trying to prevent his tears from falling why Seungmin kept looking at both you and him trying to say something to not ruin anything but you spoke faster and then replied, "Well yeah that's funny and I don't mean anything wrong. Instead I meant that it's funny how this all turned out." They were focusing on your face, as your features calmed their nerves and you continued, "I love you guys. I love both of you, a lot, and yes before anyone asks, more than just friends and idk how or why tonight I just felt like I had to.... try and act upon it without even knowing you both also felt the same way."
They both might have went to a painful place mentally when all of this suddenly happened but when they heard these words you've just said, they felt like their hearts bloomed after all this time concealing their love for you. It felt like how they realised they both loved you and even more, since tonight, you reciprocated this feeling.

you can't just leave Cthulhu at Olive Garden on my post and not explain
Okay so, uh, I took a creating writing class a while back, and I’m an utterly fantastic student who does NOT leave everything to the last possible moment and DIDN’T find out about a huge extra credit opportunity at 3am literally the night before the final portfolio was due. Nope. Not at all.
Anyway, I had to dig a bit to track down the old draft, but here we go- This got submitted along with my final:
———
Prompt: My first date with a nonhuman went as well as can be expected.
My first date with a nonhuman went as well as can be expected. I blame my uncle for this: he set up the whole thing, and I should have known better than to trust him.
“It’ll be fine,” he said to me. “Just go out to dinner this one time, do your thing, and then afterward we’ll call it square. One dinner, then you can go home to whatever couch you’re crashing on and return to… whatever it is you do. Come on, kid, this is important! Anyway you owe me a favor. Who knows? You might even have a good time.”
“What?” I replied, “You gotta be kidding me! You’ve got it backwards if you think I’m the one with the debt here, Uncle K. Especially after you went and—”
“Nope! No time to chat, you have a date to meet! I’ll drop you off; there’s a lot riding on this.”
I asked him what he meant, but he dodged the question. I suppose I should have taken that as a sign to run screaming, but I’ve always been far too curious for my own good, so I let him lead me along.
Which is how I ended up sitting at an Olive Garden booth across from Cthulhu. You wouldn’t think a gigantic eldritch abomination of endless strength and unknowable malevolence would fit into an Olive Garden booth, but somehow he managed. His vast and pointed wings were a little squished — they brushed the ceiling and left long gashes in the neat woodwork — but he didn’t seem to mind. He rested his tentacled chin on a many-clawed hand, leaned his elbow on the table, and made a terrible noise: a sound of starless void and endless deathlike sleep, of crushing depths, of screaming madness that turned my blood to ice and left my bones cold — and in that noise, I heard the words, “So. It’s good to meet you…?” Cthulhu trailed off, leaving a space for my name.
I flashed a smile in reply. “Robin. And to whom do I owe the pleasure?” I knew the answer, of course, but it seemed polite to ask anyway.
Cthulhu’s laugh echoed in my skull like boulders crashing and scraping down the universe’s biggest chalkboard. He said, “I am Cthulhu, and long have I slept beneath the sea in my house at R’lyeh. Long have I dreamt of the world above the waves, tiny and insignificant though it is — and long have I wondered at your kind’s ephemeral existence; how you scrabble in the dust of ages, squeaking vain defiance even as you inevitably succumb to eternity.” He laughed again and added, “Tell, me, Robin, what is it you do with your fleeting instant of life? How do you pass your waning days?”
I helped myself to a breadstick and shrugged. “I keep busy. You know: a bit of this, a bit of that. I make things, sometimes. Music, art… whatever seems fun, I guess. Mostly I try to make people smile. How about you?” I proffered the basket of bread, adding, “Want one?”
Cthulhu leaned forward. His face-tentacles delicately plucked the bread from my hand and ferried it away to some unseen mouth. Then he replied, “I am busy as well: I sleep and dream of the abyss between the worlds; I remember the time Before; and I await the time After, when I shall stretch my wings and reign above the Earth once more.”
“Oh... Cool. I imagine that passes the time.”
“The time passes endlessly,” Cthulhu agreed.
“I’ll bet it does…”
The conversation ground to an awkward halt, and the waiter soon brought out more bread. After a while, I finally said, “You know, Cthulhu…”
“Yes?”
“I’m going to be honest: I have no idea why I’m here.”
Cthulhu chuckled. “Of course. Such is the plight of all mortals: always, you scramble without purpose. You live aimlessly, and you die without ever knowing why.”
“What?” I couldn’t help but laugh, “That’s not what I’m talking about at all! I know why I exist. Like I said: I make stuff — and I make my own meaning whenever I happen to need it. Nah, the bit I don’t get is... you know. Why I’m here. In this Olive Garden. Right now, chatting with you. I mean — no offense, Mr. Cthulhu, but this isn’t exactly how I expected to spend my Tuesday evening, and I’m more than a little confused.”
Cthulhu blinked at me, his dark eyes glittering like the death of galaxies above his writhing, octopian face. “Your uncle did not tell you?”
I shook my head. “Not a thing.”
Cthulhu let out another rumbling, primordial laugh and replied, “I merely wished for company. I came for the endless breadsticks.”

Title. We Are Your First, Last, & Only Line of Defense Against This World of Scum
Pairing. Seijoh 3rd Years x Platonic!Reader
Summary. In which growing up is hard, but it’s a lot less harder if you’re doing it with the bestest friends you could ever ask for in the world (and Oikawa Toruu). Or; a journey through the friendship of the third years of Seijoh’s volleyball club.
Warnings. Manga spoilers up to chapter 395. Lots of cursings and mentions of anxieties about growing up. Kind of incoherent and mostly ramblings + not much dialogue, but I’ve been enjoying writing these types of things. Full disclosure: this is completely based on that official art of them at a karaoke bar. Title is from Men in Black by Will Smith.
Oikawa Toruu was 6 years old when he was crying about some kid stealing his pudding cup. And Iwaizumi Hajime was 6 years old when he dreamt of becoming a cop once he grew up, so he sought to bring justice for Oikawa’s pudding cup. L/N Y/N, also 6 years old, had declared that she would marry Hajime once she was old enough to, so she thought it was her job as his future bride to be his partner in solving this crime. (Oikawa Toruu could care less, he just wanted his pudding cup back).
Long story short, Iwaizumi Hajime ended up scuffling with said kid after he called him “stupid porcupine head” and Y/N jumped in the fray to save her future groom, while Oikawa jumped in to reclaim his pudding cup. And that was just the start of their long series of getting into trouble together.
When Oikawa Toruu was 14 years old and in his last year of junior high, the ugly green monster had reared its head and caused hostility between him and a certain kouhai. Y/N, always the kind one, had called him out on his bullshit and told him to get his act together. Oikawa fired back and called her out on her “pathetic crush on Iwa-chan,” effectively setting off the cold war between them that lasted all of summer. Iwaizume recalls having to go back and forth between the two because they refused to be in the same room together.
By the time they were 15 years old and entering highschool, the two ended up being in the same class. Oikawa pretended not to know her and hung out with “Makki” from his volleyball team. Y/N tried branching out and making friends with the other girls in her class for once, but she was shunned out for being close to the Oikawa Toruu back in middle school.
Their three months of silent treatment ended on the second week of the new school year, when Oikawa was enraged by the nasty rumors spreading about his childhood friend. Some guy Y/N rejected during the third day of school had spread rumors that she was involved in a reverse harem with Oikawa and Iwaizumi and that he didn’t bother going out with her because she was “too easy.”
Oikawa, 15 years old, threw the first punch. Iwaizumi, also 15 years old, held back his friend until Oikawa shouted out, “This bastard’s running around calling Y/N-chan a whor-” Oikawa didn’t need to finish because by then Iwaizumi had thrown the second punch. Matsukawa Issei and Hanamaki Takahiro, both 15 years old, tried holding back their two new volleyball teammates.
And that’s how Y/N and Oikawa tearfully made up, and the two, “Mattsun” and “Makki”, as Oikawa affectionately named them, joined their little friend group. Y/N ended up joining the volleyball club as a manager per Oikawa’s request (command) and finally everything was back to normal, with everyone forgetting about the “cold war” between Oikawa and Y/N.
It didn’t take long for Hanamaki and Matsukawa to fit into the group because anyone that could tolerate Oikawa deserves a reward (and that reward is the friendship they’ve built over the years, but none of them actually liked to get sappy).
By the time the five friends were 16 year olds in their second year of highschool, Oikawa has made a name for himself as the great setter of the Seijoh volleyball team. The other three were close behind in terms of popularity, but none were quite as open with it as Oikawa was. Y/N, on the other hand, did not get to enjoy the joys of the glory brought by the four players. She made heads turn, but the sight of four glowering boys right behind her made them turn back.
But there were a few exceptions.
Y/N was 16 years old and in second year of highschool when she got her first boyfriend. It wasn’t Oikawa, or Iwaizumi, or Hanamaki, or Matsukawa, no, it was a fellow second year in the same class as her (she was lucky enough not to be put in the same class as any of her idiot friends that year).
All five of them have forgotten his name now, but when they do talk about him every now and then, he was given the affectionate nickname, “Pighead.” Because two months into their relationship, Pighead had the nerve to demand Y/N to completely cut off her four friends.
Because she was young and naive and under the illusion of puppy love, Y/N was thrown into a dilemma. She mulled over it for weeks, lost sleep over whether or not she should comply, until Iwaizumi snapped her out of it and made her spill what was bothering her.
Once the four boys found out they offered to wipe Pighead off the face of Earth, but Y/N just cried and apologized for even just thinking about cutting off her amazing friends. They had a sleepover that night and Y/N still remembers it as one of her best childhood memories.
(Because of that one incident Y/N had decided to completely cut off immature boys from her highschool days).
Come their third year of highschool the five were as close as ever (and Oikawa, regrettably, much more annoying). They’ve built up seemingly unbreakable bonds that would last a lifetime, and Y/N was glad that she was able to take part in it. Having the four boys throughout her teenage years certainly was enjoyable, and she wouldn’t trade the memories and years of friendship they’ve attained for anything in the world. As long as she had the four of them (even Oikawa), she believed she could face off anything and anyone in the world.
When Y/N began worrying about college and growing up, they were there to help cheer her up. When the boys lost to Karasuno in the Prefectural Qualifiers, Y/N was there to cheer them up. She still remembers the tearful afternoon spent in the gym they’d spent three years of their lives in. And despite not being as hurt as the boys were after losing, Y/N had found herself shedding a few tears of her own. As they closed the gym doors one final time, they’ve also closed the doors to their childhood.
Teenage years go by, and as quick as they’ve entered highschool they found themselves graduating. Growing up. Taking the next step into adulthood. The four boys she came to love as her found family were now four men, and they’ve done well growing up.
And just like that tearful goodbye at the Seijoh volleyball club gym, Y/N finds herself preparing for another one. All five of them are adults now. Iwaizumi is going off to California to study in an American university, Oikawa’s going to Argentina to play volleyball, and Hanamaki and Matsukawa are moving to Tokyo together to study in a university. For once in her life, Y/N finds that she’ll be all alone in Miyagi, while her friends take the next few steps to growing up.
The five of them find themselves in Hanamaki’s childhood bedroom, for one last weekend sleepover before everything changes. They’ve strewn out blankets and pillow on the floor, and are laying down in a circular formation. They’ve been in this bedroom hundreds of times, in this same exact position, but now it’s completely different.
All his posters of celebrities are taken down and wrapped neatly on a pile sitting on his desk. His clutter of figurines and plushies collected over the years are in boxes, ready to move with their owner. His closet is empty, the clothes inside stuffed into their own labeled boxes. And his volleyball jersey that’s usually hung by the door is no longer there, no doubt already packed somewhere safe. Y/N tries not to dwell on the somberness of it all, and instead forces a laugh when Matsukawa makes a joke.
Y/N realizes she messed up when four pairs of eyes turn to look at her. “I know I’m a riot, but that joke wasn’t even that funny. I’ll admit to that.” Matsukawa speaks up.
“What’s on your mind?” Iwaizumi finally asks. His arms are behind his head and he’s staring up at the ceiling, no doubt lost in his own train of thoughts.
Y/N contemplates if she should ruin the peaceful vibes surrounding their group. They’ve already cried tons after losing to Karasuno, so do they even have any tears left for a goodbye? Y/N looks to her left and realizes all their attention focused on her, waiting for her to answer Iwaizumi’s question.
“Nothing. Just that maybe this’ll be our last weekend together.” She sighs, letting her emotions get the best of her. “We’re all going our own separate ways, who knows what could happen, y’know?”
It’s Oikawa that reacts first, but that’s no surprise since he’s Oikawa. “Y/N-chan! Are you trying to say you’re gonna miss me?” He asks with comical tears in his eyes. Y/N immediately regrets speaking up.
“I think I might miss you the least.” Oikawa feigns hurt at the comment, but he knows his friend better than anybody. ‘I’ll miss you more than you could even imagine.’ Is what she’s trying to say.
“Oi. No more crying.” Hanamaki finally says something. He can see the tears forming at Oikawa’s eyes, and a few that already shed from Y/N’s, before he feels the familiar burning sensation in his throat. “Damn it.”
“Nothing’s gonna change. We’ll all keep in touch, plain and simple.” Matsukawa announces, almost as if he was sure of it. “And if anyone,” Iwaizumi adds, looking directly at Oikawa, “decides to be a dick and try to cut us off, we’ll all personally fly out to South America to kick his ass.” A chorus of ‘yes’ sounded out as Oikawa gasps at his friends’ reactions.
“Why does it always get violent with you, Iwa-chan?!” He whines like a child, causing an outburst of laughter from the other four.
Hanamaki notices Y/N staring off into space again before he sighs, placing an affectationate hand on her head. “Relax, loser. It’s not like we’re gonna totally forget Miyagi. If anything me and Issei are gonna come back home more than you think. You’ll get tired of us eventually.”
Y/N wipes a few stray tears and nods, finally showing a genuine smile. “I’ll kill all of you if you even try to forget about Miyagi.”
“Impossible.” Iwaizumi says with a gentle smile on his lips.
-
The next morning the five friends make their way to Narita Airport, where Oikawa’s flying off to Argentina to become a better player. Their eyes are bloodshot red from staying up all night crying and reminiscing old memories together.
The walk from the parking lot to the boarding gate is quiet, until Oikawa breaks the awkward air between them. “When I get back, I’ll wipe the court with Tobio-chan.”
“You’re still not over that? Grow up.” Y/N glares, suddenly remembering their childish fight during their last year of junior high. Hanamaki laughs first, followed by Matsukawa, and finally Iwaizumi. The people around them stare strangely as five teens laugh with tears streaming down their eyes.
“Try not to miss me too much, ‘k, Y/N-chan?” Oikawa winks, just barely dodging the fist swung at him. A boarding call for Oikawa’s flight fills the airport, and they finally remember why they’re there in the first place.
“I’ll miss you guys.” He finally says seriously, tears freely falling down his face. Y/N cracks first, flinging herself to his awaiting arms and cries as she realizes this is his goodbye. Hanamaki, Matsukawa, and Iwaizumi follow, forming a group hug in the middle of Narita Airport.
Oikawa pulls away, dragging a sleeve to wipe away his tears. He opens his mouth to say one final goodbye, but is interrupted by a plethora of voices overlapping each other,
“Try not to make your teammates hate you too much. Make some friends.”
“Don’t even think about calling me at midnight about your stupid problems.”
“If you come crying to me about your knee, I’m just gonna say I told you so.”
“Once you get back, I’ll be sure to give you hell.”
“Oi, what kind of curse are you all placing on me?!” Oikawa whines, the somber atmosphere replaced by their usual energetic one.
With one last ‘goodbye,’ Oikawa strides towards the airport gates, and away from the ones he’s grown to love over the years. He looks over his shoulders, taking a mental picture of all four of his closest friends waving and giving him nods of encouragement so that he’d never forget what he’ll always have back home.
The world can throw anything it wants at them, but as long as they had each other, nothing’s ever too scary or too tough.
A/N. Thank you for reading this totally self-indulgent fic with my fav third years! A Miya twins version of this fic is in the works! Also, I’m thinking of making a mini series off of this oneshot where you chose a route with one of the boys (romantically). Let me know if you guys would also be interested in that. - chuu
