I love how we have all collectively decided that Icarus was gay for Apollo, even though there is no mythological accuracy in that statement.

Young Apollo,
how your passion scorches.
Melting wax on a young boy's back;
Molten iron wreathing a lover's crown;
Your tears cannot extinguish celestial storms.
Blame that vengeful wind
though it did not throw the sparrow to the sea
nor toss the disk to the sky.
No, fate does not vindicate causation.
You did this.
Sing laments from afar;
Apportion your gift to others,
but don't let them spark.
Do not ask who is there to warm you -
the feathers are gone
(Ai, ai)
The flowers are all that is left,
and those can become ashes, too.
Don't you dare threaten their mourning.

Writ Down In Hist'ry
What shall we be, oh mine lover At which hour we art but withered and old and gray? Shall we be writ down in hist'ry Or shall we disappeareth like light of day?
Shall we be as Helen and Paris Whose loveth set afoot a thousand ships? Or shall we be as Cleopatra with her Mark Where soul met soul on lovers' lips?
Shall we be held apart like Pyramus and Thisbe Sharing kisses through a wall? Or shall we be like Romeo and his Juliet With loveth at each moment destined to fall?
Shall we be as Achilles was to his Patroclus Whose touches did pour out the sun? Or shall we be Apollo to Icarus A fool fated to burn?
Oh, mine lover! we shalt be naught but us In our laughter, shame, and glory I shalt loveth thee evermore As they weaveth tales of our story

Icarus had flown too close to the sun and touched it, the warm ray consuming him, like arms pulling him into Apollo's embrace. If he got caught or had fallen into the domain of poseidon, is not my place to tell.

Icarus making sure to always save the best of anything he has to give as an offering to Apollo. He burns everything in a golden bowl. Icarus begging Daedalus to craft him a lyre so he can learn to play it because it makes him feel closer to Apollo. Icarus trying to raise bees so he always has fresh honey to offer Apollo.
Apollo receiving all these offerings and getting bullied by Artemis because he can’t stop blushing because what is this human boy doing?? Fuck it’s so cute though and he starts lingering above where they’re being held bc he wants to be closer to him for a second.

Icarus flew higher and higher and higher. Until the sun was all he could see. And goodness was it a sight. It was bright. Enough so that his eyes felt like they were burning. And he could feel his skin nearly searing off. And he could feel his wings burning.
Then he was falling.
He would surely die from this height.
But who could think of death in a moment like this? He had seen the sun. Gods, it was so large and otherworldly and so… beautiful. He would die over and over again if it meant he got to nearly touch the sun- if it meant he got to feel its golden rays burning him.
Before he could; however, a warm hand wrapped around his wrist.
A man had caught him. With long golden hair and golden eyes and warm skin that nearly glowed. There was no moment of realization- no confusion or disbelief. It took no time at all for the dots to connect.
“I must say. In all my years of pulling the sun chariot… no mortal has ever tried to reach me before.” Apollo’s eyes twinkled as he held on to Icarus by his wrist and he couldn’t help but sweat nervously.
So this was divinity. A handsome strong face with a beautiful smile and shining golden eyes that hurt to look at. A bow and quiver strapped to his back with a revealing toga that barely covered his chest. It was impudent- and blasphemous. Yet Icarus could not dare to look away from him.
“Y-You’re beautiful.” He blurts out unknowingly.
The god lets out a soft chuckle, “So I’ve been told.”
Icarus nearly slips out of Apollo’s grasp before being caught by him again, “Careful… you nearly fell there.”
“I… I fear I already have”

I'm fucking tired of the jegulus Achilles and Patroclus parallels, give me the Icarus and Apollo Parallels! That shit is fire (literally), fly too close to the sun and you'll get burned Reg

and the sun never set,
until his love fell through the sky,
for apollo never left
until icarus chose his dream to fly,
he touched the sun,
delirious, arms open,
he said “goodbye, my love”,
and plummeted towards the ocean,
leaving apollo paralysed,
icarus didn’t even hold his hand out,
he did not even cry,
in the hope that apollo would catch him
or with him, he would die.
and so apollo followed down right after,
painting hues of orange and pink
in the sky,
a send off for his love,
and the mourning of his curse
his immortal bones,
and for the first time ever,
the stars were able to shine,
the moon undressed herself to bring some light
as apollo tried to lie to rest in the watery grave,
he sank beneath the ocean,
chariot and all.
and the stars and the moon couldn’t watch his grief,
so they created the night sky,
and created sunsets everyday,
however brief,
just so icarus and apollo can meet.
- i suppose they were the first ‘star-crossed’ lovers, weren’t they?

Memory in a Mural (snippet)
A determined finger poked Percy into consciousness.
“Apollo,” Percy whined. “Can’t you please stop waking me up so early? Not everyone’s an early riser like you.”
The stunned silence persisted long enough for Percy to properly wake up and recognise just which timeline he was in.
“What were you to me?” the god whispered, anguished. “Who were you?”
Staring at those blue eyes glimmering with all the shades of the sea under sunlight, Percy couldn’t breathe.
Fingers scrambled at Percy’s wrist before Apollo’s hand found their grip – one on holding Percy’s arm and the other nestled at the crook of his shoulder.
“Why would I leave you marks that would last into another life altogether?” Apollo demanded.
Percy’s mouth was parched as a desert that hadn’t seen rain in a hundred years. “Nothing,” he answered. “We were nothing.”
In a voice that shook with suppressed emotion, the god asked, “Who were you?”
At Percy’s continued silence, Apollo threatened, “This refusal to reveal your name doesn’t help your case here.”
“It wouldn’t help,” Percy cried out. “Who I was – you wouldn’t remember.”
“Why not?” the god shouted. “What have I done that makes you hold such a terrible view of me? That you think I could mark your soul and not even remember?”
“You don’t remember,” Percy said sadly.
Apollo scoffed at his own plight. “No, no I don’t.”
