I saw a rant about how the back and forth between Fyodor and Dazai is ridiculous at this point and like. I think that’s the point. The point is that one is not actually superior to the other in regards to intellect so they are ALWAYS going to be stuck in this cycle of ‘well I thought of/planned/predicted that!’.
The difference is in their connections and what those connections are made of. I find it fascinating actually that Fyodor thinks he’s won because he STOLE gravity away from Dazai and claimed Dazai didn’t even know how to use it when he had it! The thing is though, Chuuya doesn’t seem to be under Fyodor’s control anymore and he hasn’t ever chosen the people who try to use him like an object over Dazai. And despite the four years of separation (which was longer than their time together) he always came when Dazai expected him to.
And I’m thinking he expects him to now which would ultimately be what tips the scale in Dazai’s favor. Because where Fyodor sees a tool Dazai sees his partner. I’m also thinking Chuuya isn’t the only key to success here and that was why he chose Sigma too (if the points where he thinks about the ADA not using each other is any sort of foreshadowing).

[1.6k] sick of their lovesick friend crushing on you, remus and sirius take it upon themselves to give james the boost he needs to talk to you. it doesn’t quite work out the way they planned.
It wasn’t meant to happen like this.
Or, to accurately rephrase that, it wasn’t meant to be this fucking intense.
Sirius Black and Remus Lupin were nothing but good friends. They were there when you needed someone to listen, they were there to offer advice, they were there to make you laugh when all you really needed was a distraction.
They were good friends.
But even this was pushing their limits.
It was no surprise to anyone at Hogwarts that James Potter fell hard and fast. It may not happen often as people like to make it out to be, but the second that boy sets his eyes on someone, he’s a goner. And there’s no one better than his friends to know that.
They had seen it with crushes over the last few years, but none of them hit the boy as hard as you did.
One snarky comment, a broom race and one infirmary  visit later, and James Potter was completely besotted by you.
And as his best friends, Remus and Sirius had been subjected to far too many rambles the bespectacled boy had given over the months since he first laid his eyes on you.
But even they had their limits and their patience was quickly running out. That’s why they had a plan, a simple plan. It was honestly the simplest of plans where nothing could go wrong.
Or at least, that’s what they had thought.
The main problem was that for all he was confident and arrogant and loud, James Potter seemed to lose all confidence and suave when he was around you. The boy got flustered and stumbled on his words and struggled to even say anything remotely impressive, and it was a disheartening sight to see.
So when Remus suggested a simple confidence boosting potion from the alchemy in Hogsmeade, the plan was set in stone. They’d sneak him the potion, convince him to ask you out and the rest would be history.
The task to acquire the potion was left to Sirius considering Remus had prefect rounds and would be unable to get the potion himself. But Sirius didn’t think some measly potion from Hogsmeade would be enough, so he didn’t see the big deal in grabbing one from his family’s favourite upend alchemy instead.
As it turns out, it was a very big deal.
Not only were the potions stronger, but they were laced with extra festive elements for witches and wizards who were stupid enough to buy potions during holidays.
And this confidence potion was laced with a very, very strong love potion—-in celebration of Valentines Day.
“What the fuck did you buy?!”
“The man in the store said it would enhance!”
“Enhance what? His bloody insanity?!”
“Stop yelling at me, Moony, I am sensitive!”
Both boys stared at their friend who sat on the bed in front of them, a cheesy grin on his face and his tousled hair falling into his eyes. They thought it would be easiest to slip in the potion in the morning, just before they headed down for breakfast.
Now, they realised, it would probably be best if they hadn’t given him the potion at all.
James Potter sat on his bed, a badly drawn picture of you that was no better than a stickman on a piece of parchment in his hand as he sighed hopelessly.
“She’s so pretty,” James murmured happily.
“That’s a bit of ink and paper, mate,” Sirius replied, looking at James with the caution one would have for a wild beast.
“She’s even pretty when she’s a drawing,” James continued as he lifted his head to look at his friends. “Don’t you think?”
“Uh, sure,” Remus murmured, unsure if disagreeing with a lovesick fool would be the best course of action. He turned to look at Sirius, a glimmer of annoyance in his gaze. “We can’t let him leave this room when he is acting like…that.”
“He will be fine, Moony,” Sirius scoffed and waved his hand dismissively. “It’s barely noticeable anyways.”
Remus raised his brows. “Oh really?”
“Hey, buddy, how ya feeling?” Sirius asked as he turned back to James.
James jumped onto his feet, puffing his chest out. “I feel like I wanna sing to the world how much I love my girl—“
“Yeah, okay, maybe he’s not ready to leave the room just yet.”
Remus let out a heavy sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Okay, I’m gonna go down and grab us some food and possibly some books from the library that can help us…reverse whatever this is,” he announced as he turned back to Sirius and fitted him with a glare. “Keep an eye on him, and do not let him leave.”
Sirius rolled his eyes. “Aye, aye, captain.”
“I’m serious.”
“I thought I was Sirius.”
“I swear to Merlin—“
“I promise, I promise!” Sirius eventually sighed and raised his hands in mock surrender. “Now go, before Prongs starts spouting sonnets and you start correcting him.”
It didn’t sit well with Remus has he quickly exited the Gryffindor common room, heading into the halls of the school and making his way down to the Great Hall. Leaving Sirius in charge of a very…odd James was not reassuring in the slightest, but at this point they had little choice in the matter. They needed to get this sorted out and get it sorted out soon without alarming any of the teachers.
Or worse, James’ mother.
Remus suppressed his shudder as he made his way through the throng of students, heading towards the Gryffindor table so he could grab some food for the lot of them and make a quick escape.
However, the boy failed to notice the group sitting just a few feet away from him.
“Remus, hey!”
Remus froze, a piece of toast hanging between his fingers before he turned his head to the left, giving you what he hoped was a casual smile—although it looked more like a grimace.
“Hey,” he answered lamely.
“You’re late this morning,” you joked lightly, your attention purely on the boy. You stretched your neck to try and catch a glimpse of his friends but he was alone. “Hey, where’s—”
“James is sick!” Remus blurted out and watched as you frowned in concern. “Not like, deathly sick. But just enough for him to stay in bed for the day.”
“Oh,” you murmured and the disappointment was clear in your voice. “Is there anything I can do to help? I have some potions my mum gave me—“
“No, no,” Remus waved you off. “Potions can’t fix this.”
But that only seemed to deepen your worries. “Remus, are you sure he’s okay?”
However, before Remus could even open his mouth to spout another lie, another voice yelled through the hallway just outside the Great Hall.
“OH TREASURE OF MY HEART!”
Remus closed his eyes. “Fuck.”
“OH DARLING APPLE OF MY EYE!”
“He had one fucking job,” Remus muttered to himself. “One. Fucking. Job.”
“WHERE IS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE?!”
Your wide eyes met Remus’. “Is that—”
Just then a figure came bursting through the entrance of the Great Hall, standing in nothing but socks, a pair of boxers and a white shirt. But James Potter didn’t care about the gasps or gawking eyes, he was looking for one person—you.
“My love!” His eyes brightened as he spotted you on the table and quickly began making his way over to you.
Not even seconds later, Sirius came running after him as he panted heavily. “Fucking…prick…hexed me.”
Remus would’ve snorted if James approaching you wasn't the priority.
Your eyebrows furrowed together as a partially dressed James kneeled down in front of you. “James—”
“Love of my life, you look absolutely stunning today, it wounds me!” James sighed dramatically as he reached to take your hands in his, pressing kisses on the back of each knuckle.
“I wound you?” you murmured as the boy looked up at you with wide eyes.
“Don’t you know, darling? It wounds me to even be apart from you!” James exclaimed.
“Okay, buddy, how about we head back to the dorm?” Remus murmured as he tried to pull James up, but his hands were quickly batted away.
“Leave me alone, Moony, you are getting in the way of true love!”
“True love?” you repeated, biting back the smile growing on your lips. You were still very confused, but at least you were amused.
“The truest!” James said as he looked you in the eyes before taking a deep breath. “Oh darling, do me the pleasure of becoming Mrs Potter—“
“OKAY!” Remus clapped his hands together, finally pulling James away from you as Sirius cackled beside him.
“You’ve ruined my proposal, Moony!” James whined. “You’re officially taken off the best man list.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” Remus muttered before flashing you a sheepish smile. “Just…pretend this never happened.”
Before Remus could make proper move of herding a boisterous James out of the Great Hall and back towards the Gryffindor dormitories, you were out of your seat and chasing after them.
“James!”
His head quickly snapped around, big eyes finding yours as his face split into a grin. “Yes, my love?”
You stopped when you stood in front of them, your chest moving up and down quickly and your heart thundering in your chest, but it was too late now.
Before you could second guess yourself, you leaned forward and grabbed his face in your hands, pressing a kiss on his lips before pulling back.
“Come find me when you’re…better.”
James didn’t even get the chance to reply as you quickly skidded off, his lips parted in shock and his cheeks burning a bright pink as he aimlessly stared at the spot where you stood moments ago.
“Moony?”
“Yeah, Prongs?”
“Did that really happen?”
“Yeah it did, mate.”
“Right…great…catch me, mate.”
Remus opened his mouth to reply but James’ body had already sagged against his, the boy’s eyes now closed and he couldn’t help but let out a snort as he heaved the unconscious boy’s arms around his neck.
“I better be your fucking best man now.”
“Hey!”
“Shut up, Pads and carry the croissants.”

You hardly knew your father. You knew his name was Pete Mitchell, that he was a naval aviator, and that your mum insisted you inherited a large chunk of your personality from Maverick but that was the extent of your knowledge. You’ve seen pictures of him, and your mum told you about times he visited when you were a baby, but you held no concrete memories of your own of the man. Because of your lack of connection to him, you didn’t really consider Maverick your father. He stopped visiting when you were a baby, so you didn’t really care to acknowledge his relation to you. Your mum, while understanding your feelings and not wanting to force anything upon you, did try to encourage you to get into contact with Maverick if you could to try and form some sort of bond with him.
Then your mother got sick. You spent a lot of time outside of school caring for her and working your part-time job to keep you and your mum afloat when she had to stop working because her health was declining so rapidly. It was tough for you to try and keep things going and your mum tried to push for you to get into contact with your father, so you’d have someone to go to if she didn’t win the battle against her illness, but you always rebutted, insisting that she’d be fine.
You watched as your mother had to be admitted to the hospital for round-the-clock care. You always visited her after school or work and spent as much time with her as you could, constantly asking the nurses and doctors for updates and hoping by some miracle she’d recover.
But she never did.
Your mum passed away after three months of battling with an illness you could never understand, leaving you alone in the world. You soon ended up in contact with social services as your mother had contacted them prior to her death without you knowing and told them that she wished for you to move in with your dad as opposed to going into foster care. You were still hesitant about the whole thing. You barely knew him; you’d be uprooting your entire life to move to Miramar.
While you had to go home, pack bags and prep things for your mother’s funeral, Maverick received a knock on his door early one Saturday morning.
“Hello, are you Captain Pete Mitchell?” The woman on the other side of the door says, a kind smile on her face as she speaks. Maverick was taken aback by this woman being on the other side of the door, he would’ve put money on it being Bradley on the other side of the door over some random woman.
“I am. Can I help you?” Maverick asks, confused as to how she knows who he is and what she’s doing at his house.
“You have a daughter, y/n l/n, correct?” The woman then asks, eyes flicking down to the file in her hand while Maverick’s expression shifts from one of confusion to one of worry.
“Is she okay?” Is the first thing that comes out of Maverick’s mouth as he thinks of all the things that could possibly have happened to you.
“Her mother, Catherine, passed away a couple of days ago and before she passed, she made it known to us that she wanted y/n to be in your care since she has no other relatives.” The woman explains and Maverick feels his heart sink to his stomach at the woman’s words. His relationship with your mother may have been short, but he never stopped caring for her. Hearing she had passed hit him hard.
“She wanted me to take y/n in?” Maverick asks quietly, searching for confirmation as the woman nods slightly.
“She did. We’re going to help you and y/n with the process and check in occasionally after she’s moved in to make sure everything is okay with the two of you.” The woman says as she hands a card over with her name and number on it. Maverick inspects the card, learning that her name is Holly Fieldman before looking back up at her.
“When is she coming? I know she lives a couple of states away.” Maverick asks as he pushes the card into his jean pocket, watching as Holly silently asks to be let in and he obliges, stepping aside and letting her enter his house, leading her to the living room and sitting down opposite her.
“y/n wants to hold her mother’s funeral before she comes to Miramar.” Holly starts, flicking through the file and double-checking all the information she received from her colleague.
“That makes sense.” Maverick says slowly, wishing he could be there to help you with the funeral, but he was aware he could potentially overstep if he tried to get involved.
“My colleague said the funeral should be taking place within the next couple of days so I will contact you when we have a date set for y/n to come here.” Holly says as she glances up at Maverick who nods slightly in acknowledgement to her words.
“That’s okay, that gives me time to sort things out here.” Maverick agrees as Holly gets to her feet, Maverick quickly mirroring her actions and leading her to the front door and bidding her goodbye. Once he closes the door, Maverick turns around and rests his back against the door, staring into his house before muttering.
“Good thing I have the spare room clear.”
A few days later, after the funeral, you were all packed up and waiting at the airport for your flight to San Diego. Your leg bounced nervously as you stared at the sign above the gate door displaying the location you were flying to. Everyone around you seemed perfectly relaxed and ready for the flight ahead while you were thinking of everything that could go wrong. By the time you boarded the plane and found your seat, you could’ve laughed at yourself for how nervous you were. You were the daughter of a top naval aviator and here you were panicking about flying in a commercial plane which you were sure was much safer than doing whatever it was your father did for work. You were sure you looked crazy with the way you were gripping the armrests when the plane took off into the air, eyes scrunching shut as your stomach lurched at the foreign feeling.
Thankfully, the flight went smoothly, and no one made any comments about your very obvious nervousness. When you were allowed to disembark the plane, you followed the sea of people to luggage claim as you gripped the straps of your rucksack to try and direct your nerves somewhere. Once you grabbed your suitcase off the conveyor belt, you followed the large signs that led to the arrivals terminal where you soon located a smartly dressed woman holding a sign with your name on, so you approached her sheepishly.
“Hello, y/n. I’m Holly, we spoke on the phone the other day.” The woman says, introducing herself straight away and holding out a hand for you to shake which you do, nodding at her words and quietly thanking her when she offers to take your suitcase for you.
“Are you taking me straight to his house?” You ask as you stop outside Holly’s car, waiting as she loads your suitcase into the boot of her car before she turns back to face you.
“We’re going to have you meet your dad in a café first, a nice neutral setting for the both of you and I’ll be there to help ease you guys into everything.” Holly says, her bright smile never wavering when she speaks as she rounds the car and gets in the driver’s seat, with you getting in the passenger seat.
You tried to distract yourself by taking in the views of what was going to be your new home, but you couldn’t stop the pounding of your heart. You hated that you were so nervous. He had never been there for you growing up. He wasn’t a dad to you. So why were you so nervous?
When Holly parked outside a small café that was nestled along Miramar’s beachfront, your nerves were now in full drive and when she moved to open her door, you remained seated.
“Is it too late to ask if I can get a flight back?” You ask, glancing over at Holly who settles back in the car seat to address you.
“It is, sweetie. Look, I understand that you’re nervous. But everything is going to be just fine. I promise you.” Holly says softly, her smile softening as she addresses you and for a moment, you believe her words. You get out of the car, close the door behind you and follow Holly into the café.
As soon as you enter the small building, your eyes are immediately surveying the people that are in the café, searching for whichever one is Pete Mitchell. Then you saw a man stand up, eyes studying you as he looked at you and Holly and you soon noticed Holly moving to approach him. He matched the man in the sparse photos you had of your father so that along with Holly greeting him with the same bright smile she had used on you made you figure that he had to be Pete Mitchell and as you slunk along to meet him, you took a deep breath and made sure to not show your emotions. You already had a feeling he more than likely didn’t want to take you in, he just had to because your mum insisted on it. You just wanted to be prepared for the worst.
“y/n… wow you’ve really grown up.” Is the first thing Maverick can bring himself to say as you stand opposite him.
“Yeah… that’s what happens over time.” You say dismissively, shrugging your shoulders half-heartedly and your gaze flicks away to the table Maverick is sitting at so you could avoid looking at him.
“Why don’t we take a seat?” Holly suggests, not letting the mood deter her as she grabs the back of one of the chairs and pulls it towards her to make room for her to sit down at the table with you and Maverick following her actions. You sit opposite Maverick awkwardly, neither of you knowing how to start a conversation with the other.
“So, y/n, how was the flight?” Holly starts, attempting to initiate a conversation.
“It was okay.” You say half-heartedly, barely glancing at either person sitting at the table with you.
“Was it a busy flight?” Maverick then asks, trying to get a bit more information out of you.
“This was my first time on a plane I don’t know what constitutes ‘busy’, but most of the seats were filled I guess.” Your words came out a little harsher than you intended but you weren’t all that fussed about the way your words came out.
“Well you made it here safely and that’s all that matters.” Maverick then says, a small smile on his face to try and make you feel more comfortable around him. Instead, all he got back was a small shrug and you avoiding his gaze. He knew it must be a hard adjustment for you, especially when you haven’t had contact with Maverick in years but all he wanted was for you to feel comfortable and supported and he was going to do his absolute best to do that for you.
The rest of the interaction that was overseen by Holly went about as well as you expected it to. The atmosphere was awkward and there was a slight tension from you. By the time Maverick was allowed to take you home, Holly pulled both of you aside separately and told you that you could call her whenever and that she’d do a home visit in the next few days to see how things were progressing and left the two of you alone outside the café after handing you your luggage.
“Let’s get you settled in at home.” Maverick says after a minute or two of awkward silence between the two of you, gesturing with his head for you to follow him which you do so slowly, not in any rush to get to this new house. You load up your luggage, ignoring Maverick’s attempts to help you before getting in the backseat of the car, sitting behind the driver’s seat so Maverick couldn’t see you as easily.
“You can sit up front with me for the journey home, you know?” Maverick offers, turning around to glance at you sitting in the back of the car.
“I prefer sitting in the back.” You answer simply, already moving to put your headphones on you can just ignore everything on the journey to where you’d be living from now on. You hated that Maverick was calling it ‘home’. It may be home to him. But it could never be a home to you. Maverick watched sadly as you put your headphones in and adjusted the way you were sat so you were fully angled towards the window before he turned to face the front and began the drive to his house.
When he finally pulled into the driveway of the house, you weren’t shocked by what greeted you. It was an average-sized house in a small neighbourhood. Before Maverick even had time to turn around and talk to you, you were instantly climbing out of the car and heading to the boot of the car to pull your suitcase out, leaving Maverick alone in the car as he let out a small sigh before getting out of the car himself and crossing to the front door of his house to unlock the door and enter the house with you following behind.
As you enter the house, you follow Maverick when he leads you upstairs, opening a door and taking a step back for you to enter which you do. You glance around the room, it is practically bare, with white walls, and nothing more than a bed, wardrobe, and bedside tables.
“I’m sorry it’s so plain. I never really used this room. But you can decorate it however you want. I have a few days booked off work, so maybe we could get some things and decorate your room.” Maverick says, not daring to move an inch beyond the doorway as he watches you place your rucksack on the bed and take in the room. As Maverick had expected, you offered him no more than a mere shrug and noncommittal hum at his suggestion. Maverick was really trying to form some sort of bond with you. To try to make up for the years lost. But you clearly wanted nothing to do with him, and as much as it broke his heart, he couldn’t do any more than extend the olive branch and hope you one day take it. He didn’t want to overstep beyond that, so he nodded at your hum and headed downstairs.
You spent the rest of the day unpacking your belongings, hanging clothes up and storing things away before you finally placed the picture of you and your mum on your bedside table, so you always had her with you. As you tucked your suitcase under your bed, you heard Maverick calling you for dinner and as much as you didn’t want to go downstairs, the smell of food that was travelling up the stairs and into your room was making your stomach growl like nobodies business so you got up and went down the stairs, following the sounds of plates clanking to lead you to the kitchen but as you walked through the living room, your eyes drifted along the photos on the wall and you stopped opposite one particular photo. It was a photo of Maverick with a moustached man, both of them smiling for the camera with an arm wrapped around the other’s shoulders. You regarded the photo quietly, wondering who this man was. Did Maverick have another kid? As if he sensed you looking at the photos, Maverick emerged from the kitchen and approached you carefully.
“Having a look at the pictures?” He muses softly, a slight laugh tagged onto the end of his sentence to let you know he wasn’t upset or angry at you.
“Is he your son?” You ask, your gaze not moving from the picture of the two men.
“No. Not biologically at least. Bradley’s my best friend’s kid. But I helped raise him so he’s kind of like a son to me.” Maverick explains and you can’t help but feel a pang in your heart at his words. This Bradley guy got to have Maverick in his life as a father figure and you didn’t get your dad at all. It wasn’t fair.
“Come on, let’s eat.” Maverick urges softly, noticing the sadness in your eyes and hoping he didn’t just ruin everything between the two of you. You begrudgingly follow Maverick to the small table and eat your food in silence, barely giving Maverick more than a short sentence answer to any of his questions. The second you finished your meal you asked to be excused and retreated back to your room, leaving Maverick alone downstairs. He didn’t bother you for the rest of the night, only sticking his head in your room before he went to bed. Despite everything, he couldn’t stop the small smile that appeared on his face when he saw you curled under your duvet, fast asleep.
“Goodnight, y/n/n.”
Over the days Maverick had off, you tended to avoid as much interaction with him as possible. You’d have meals with him and hold the briefest of conversations but that was your limit. And you never called him dad. You didn’t want to get attached to someone who didn’t want you when you were a baby and was now stuck with you. When Holly came for one of her home visits, you tried to ask if you could be placed elsewhere but she was insistent that you see it through with Maverick. She urged you to give him a chance, and that she could tell he was genuinely trying to form a connection. She could understand that you were upset with the loss of your mother and having to move in with someone who was hardly present in your life, but your mum had picked him for a reason, and you needed to trust her judgement.
After Holly left, you spent the rest of the day in your room mulling over her words. You knew your mum had never steered you wrong before. But sending you to live with someone you hardly knew just felt wrong to you. When night fell, your thoughts were getting too much you decided you needed to head out to get some fresh air and to think some more. You didn’t have a destination in mind, you still hardly knew the area, you just knew you needed to be out of the house. You were able to sneak downstairs and out of the house with zero difficulty, Maverick was napping on the sofa so keeping quiet and getting out of the door was no difficult task for you. Once you made it to the end of the road, you pulled out your phone and searched for directions to the beach.
About five minutes after you left, Maverick’s eyes blinked open and he stretched his arms above his head as he stood from the sofa, wincing as his back let out a slight crack. He knew he needed to stop falling asleep on the sofa, but he couldn’t help it. Deciding it was time to finally retire to bed, he headed upstairs, heading straight to your door. Since you arrived, he always stuck his head in your room to whisper goodnight to you, despite the fact you were always asleep when he did it. This time, however, when Maverick opened the door, he couldn’t see any figure in the bed. The little slither of light that snuck through the crack didn’t illuminate any evidence that you were in bed and Maverick couldn’t help but instantly be in panic mode. He couldn’t find any evidence that you were still in the house, so he was soon grabbing his keys and leaving the house to search for you.
You sat on a little bench overlooking the beach, not too far from where the café you first met Maverick was, listening to the gentle sounds of the waves against the shore, your eyes drifting up to the starry sky and bright moon that hung within it.
“Mum, you wanted me to come here for a reason, right? You think Pete would take care of me and that I’d finally have a father figure, don’t you?” You mutter quietly up to the sky, wondering if your mum would give you some sort of sign that she was listening. Instead, you heard the revving of a motorbike engine and Maverick’s worried voice calling out to you.
“y/n, oh thank god I found you.” Maverick says, relief beyond evident in his tone as he sits down next to you on the bench, leaving a gap between the two of you.
“How did you know I was here?” You ask quietly, briefly glancing over at Maverick before your gaze flicked back to the stars.
“I didn’t. I just drove around looking for you. But I did know you haven’t explored the area much, so my best guess was near the café. I wouldn’t have stopped looking for you all night if I hadn’t found you here.” Maverick explains, watching you under the dim street lamp as your eyebrows furrow slightly and you turn to look at him properly.
“Really?” You ask, your voice timid as you look at Maverick.
“Really. I’d never forgive myself if something happened to you. I promised your mother I’d look after you.” Maverick explains, watching as your eyes widen at his words.
“You promised… did you talk with my mum before she died?” You then ask, tears threatening to build in your eyes. In response to your question, Maverick pulls his wallet out of his pocket and produces a small picture, handing it over to you and you instantly study the picture. It was of you; it couldn’t have been taken more than six months ago. It was of you out in the park, sitting on a bench and completely oblivious to your mum taking a picture of you.
“She liked to send me regular updates on how you were doing, as well as pictures. She told me you get pretty good grades in your classes, which makes me proud. The last time I spoke to her must’ve been just before or around the time she got sick because I never heard from her after that. But she made me promise to look after you if something happened years ago. I didn't think anything would ever happen. But I never stopped caring for you.” Maverick explains as you quietly hand back the photo, the tears in your eyes beginning to show under the street lights.
“If you cared so much, why did you stop visiting?” Unlike Maverick would’ve expected, your voice held no harshness to its tone, just defeat. You were just a kid who’s been deprived of a father figure your whole life.
“My job is dangerous. And I know what it feels like to lose your parents when you’re young. I just couldn’t put you through that, so I thought it was best I stayed away to protect you. It hurt so much to say goodbye knowing I probably wasn’t going to see you again.” Maverick says truthfully, fighting back tears of his own as he looks at the picture, knowing he was the reason you grew up without a father figure in your life. He couldn’t help but beat himself up over it every day. He had stepped in for Bradley when Goose died but the second, he had a kid of his own, he backed off and abandoned you.
“Did your mum ever try to move on?” Maverick then asks quietly, a sad tone you’re not used to hearing from him in his voice, as you watch him.
“No she didn’t. Truthfully, I don’t think she stopped loving you. She always spoke so highly of you.” You admit, shrugging lightly as you remember all the times your mum had told you about Maverick and never spoke a bad word about him. At your words, a tear or two escaped Maverick’s eyes and he let out a shuddering breath.
“I don’t deserve that. She deserved to be happy.” Maverick says, more tears escaping him as you wipe at your own eyes.
“She was happy. The time she had with you was clearly all she wanted and needed.” You say, not wanting Maverick to feel guilty or upset for something out of his control, a complete turnaround from the way you had been acting prior.
“I’m going to make it up to you. I promise. If you need me at all, I will be there. You’re not alone anymore.” Maverick promises, and you nod at his words, finally believing his words before you move closer to him and carefully wrap your arms around him for a hug. At first, he was tense, but soon he reciprocated the hug, holding you tight as you tried your best not to cry on his jacket.
“Can we go home now?” You ask as a small breeze blows by, making you shiver slightly, even in Maverick’s warm embrace.
“Of course, sweetheart. Let’s go home.” He says softly, helping you to your feet and leading you to his motorbike where he instructs you on how to hold on safely before taking you back home, making sure he goes a bit slower than he usually does when on his bike. When you make it home, you’re stifling yawns as you trudge upstairs to get ready for bed and by the time you finally crawl into bed, your eyes are already closing but you force them open when you hear Maverick quietly asking if he could enter your room. For the first time since you arrived, Maverick crosses to your bedside and smiles down at you.
“Goodnight, y/n.” He says quietly, leaning down and pressing a small kiss on the top of your head, smiling as a smile covers your own face while you snuggle further into your bed. Just as Maverick reaches the door, he hears you speak up.
“Goodnight, dad.”
Maverick swore that the large smile that appeared on his face didn’t shrink until the next day. Until you called him ‘dad’ again the next morning.

for your domestic steddie: let's see that morning routine! who's up first, whos making breakfast, who's has the very persuasive argument to stay in bed?
This is like the opposite of their morning routine lmao. Steve always wakes up first and makes breakfast and then goes back to bed with Eddie for a while before he leaves for work :)
Tumblr media
“Eds?” Steve muttered, sitting up in bed. He felt cold without Eddie pressed against his back, his face tucked into his neck, breathing against his skin. It was dark and his eyes were blurry with sleep, but he could just make out Eddie, his hair falling out of his bun as he pulled his jeans on.
“Go back to sleep, Steve,” he whispered, coming over to push Steve back down against the pillow, gently, with his jeans low on his hips and his shirt bunched up in his other hand.
“Eddie,” Steve whined, grabbing onto his wrist and trying to tug him back, his voice and arms still heavy with sleep. “Promised me we’d sleep in, remember?.”
“No, I promised you could sleep in, baby,” Eddie reminded gently, pressing a kiss to the top of Steve’s head as he snaked his arms around Steve’s waist. “Because you hit your head last night so I said I’d make you breakfast today and you could relax.”
“Can’t relax if you’re out of bed,” Steve whispered, and he knew he sounded pathetic, but maybe if Eddie felt bad enough he’d curl up behind him again and he’d be able to go back to bed. It was hard to sleep once he had woken up if he was alone.
Eddie laughed into his hair, his breath warm. “Come and lay on the couch, then. I gotta get up anyway to make food for Wayne before he leaves for work. Might make some for Katie, too, because Wayne said she doesn’t eat in the mornings.”
God, he was so fucking nice, but Steve wasn’t going to let him off that easy. “You’re going to leave me alone? With a headache? Some boyfriend you are,” he muttered, trying to look pissed but crumbling in on himself and laughing when Eddie pinched at his side lightly, biting his shoulder.
“Be nice to me, Stevie.”
“You be nice to me,” Steve retorted, his hands finally getting a grip on Eddie’s a tugging them away with a stupid smile on his face, softening into something more personal and pleading when he saw how Eddie was looking at him—eyes all sad with his head tilted like he really thought Steve wasn’t okay. He worried too much for someone who’d been dealing with this for…what, seven years? Maybe more if you counted the time before they were dating.
“I’m fine,” Steve whispered, cupping Eddie’s face in his hands and pulling him down for a kiss, his back aching from having been bent so weirdly for so long in his sleep. “But five more minutes? I’ll help you make breakfast if you stay.”
“You drive a hard bargain, iubirea mea,” Eddie murmured, pressing a few kisses to Steve’s jaw that made Steve’s insides feel like sugary mush. “But of course, who am I to say no to such a pretty boy?”
Steve tugged him onto the mattress, and Eddie sat with his knees on either side of Steve’s hips, bent over to kiss his lips. It wasn’t exactly sleeping, but Steve wasn’t going to tell him to stop.
“Never have to make breakfast again if you don’t want to,” Eddie whispered against his lips, one hand slipped under Steve’s shirt to trace the scarred-over tissue on his side. “I’ll wake up early all the time if you ask, promise.”
Steve bit back a smile, his fingers in Eddie’s hair, tugging gently. He’d help Eddie make breakfast soon anyways. Eddie would need the help.

baby, kiss it better (pt 1)
Hi!! This is the first fic I've ever published and the first smut that I've ever successfully finished, and I am very very proud of it :D
This fic is about 2.8k words of Julien and Lucy taking care of Phoebe on a bad day where she really, really needs it. Enjoy and please leave feedback below !! <333
- 🌸
TAGS: throuple!boygenius, boygenius smut, sub!Phoebe, dom!Lucy, dom!Julien, praise, bondage, cunnilingus, fingering, hurt/comfort, fluff and smut, light choking, slight verbal degradation/humiliation, name-calling, porn with plot (sort of, if you squint), tooth-rotting fluff, sexy and sweet, they just love each other so much ok!!, brain is mean sometimes, and sometimes cure to mean brain is hot sex with the women you love, I don't make the rules this is simply how it is
It was their first day off from touring in weeks, and Phoebe had woken up on the wrong side of the bed. It felt like no matter what Lucy and Julien did, they got snapped at or ignored or eye-rolled. After about two hours of sharing bulged eyes and shrugs across the shared common areas in the suite when she wasn't looking, they both decided it was time for an intervention.
"Phoebe?" Lucy approached the door separating their two-king suite followed by Julien knocking gently.
"What do you want?" came the muffled, disgruntled reply.
"Lucy and I are worried about you, princess. Can we come in?"
There was silence for a moment, then a huff and shuffling noises from inside the room as Phoebe moved to open the door. When she did, Lucy and Julien saw how dark her eye bags had gotten and how tangled her hair looked in a curtain in front of her face. How she had managed to go from perfectly made up last night to entirely a mess this morning was beyond them, but it only served to worry them further.
"You guys have nothing to worry about, seriously," she said gruffly, turning away at the last word.
"Right, yes, of course. We can see that all is perfectly fine in Phoebe land," Julien said sarcastically. Lucy elbowed her in the ribs, giving her a look that said let me do the talking.
"Pheebs, you know we don't buy that. Can we please come in for a second?" Lucy says.
Phoebe stays with her arms against the doorway and her head tilted to the side, not wanting to look at the boys in case they saw the tears welling up in her eyes. Lucy, sensing the shift, forced Phoebe's eyes to look into hers with a finger under her chin. Upon seeing the tears streaming down her face, she pulled her into a hug, which Phoebe melted into immediately.
"I- I just- I didn't realize how bad it had gotten until we had time to think, time to breathe. I don't know what's wrong with me but I never feel like I deserve you guys and all you do for me and I'm afraid that I'm faking it all and I'm really just an awful horrible bad person and I-"
Her sobs cut her rambling short as she buries her face deeper into Lucy's shoulder, breathing in the scent of her hair and trying to ground herself. Lucy stroked her hair and held her tighter as Julien held her from behind, kissing along her shoulder blades and whispering reassurances into her back.
Eventually, sobs became sniffles, and Lucy broke the hug momentarily only to pick Phoebe up fireman style and move her to the bed. She struggled slightly at the gesture but relented, realizing that she didn't have the strength to walk anyway. Lucy laid against the headboard, bringing Phoebe to lay back against her and use her boobs as pillows. Julien acquired a tissue box and snuggled up beside them, and they lay there until Lucy broke the silence.
"You don't deserve to talk to yourself that way, Phoebe. You are NOT an awful person, and you deserve our love." Her tone was intense, almost short with how heated she got at the prospect of someone she loved so much not understanding how much she was worth.
Phoebe looked up at her with a tearstained face, attempting a smile. "I wish I could believe that, Luce. I really, really do." Julien cupped her face with her hands. She looks up at Lucy in a silent question, and Lucy nods, giving the go-ahead for what she would say next.
"What if we showed you just how much we love you?" Phoebe's eyes widened, their lips getting closer.
"And how would you go about doing that," she asked, teasingly now, eyes flicking down to her lips.
"For starters, how about we put that mouth to better use, princess?" Phoebe’s eyes fluttered shut and she nodded slightly, and that was all the prompting Julien needed.
She pressed their lips together hungrily, moving to be on top of Phoebe and slotting a thigh between her own. Lucy watched in wonder as the two loves of her life made out in front of her, taking in the sight. Eventually she decided she wanted to make things interesting, so she reached to grab a fistful of Phoebe's hair.
She tugged lightly at first, testing the waters, and Phoebe had to break the kiss to throw her head back. Having been given her opening, Lucy leaned down into her lips, tangling her hands further in her hair. She broke the kiss with a teasing bite to Phoebe's bottom lip, causing her to moan as Julien looked on with eyes blown wide.
"Do you need us to take care of you, angel?" Lucy asked, smoothing the hair she had just tangled.
"Yes, yes please," Phoebe said, her senses still overwhelmed.
"What's your word, baby?" Julien asked, being the only one of the three with any room left in her brain for logistics.
"Salt," Phoebe said.
"Good girl," Lucy praises, leaving chaste kisses along the exposed part of Phoebe's neck.
Phoebe leaned back, exposing more of herself to be explored by Julien and Lucy. One of her greatest joys and stress relievers on tour has been letting them have control over her and her pleasure, and she felt herself starting to slip back into that familiar headspace as Lucy started to kiss her again, slower this time.
They moved so that they could undress, starting with Phoebe's shirt and shorts and leaving her in just her underwear. Julien took one of Phoebe's breasts into her mouth, sucking appreciatively at the exposed skin. She latched on to her nipple as Lucy latched on to the other, coaxing whines and moans out of her. Phoebe felt the wetness between her legs at the sensations and the thought of being dominated by both of them at once, pressing them together in an effort to get any friction at all.
Lucy noticed, breaking off from her nipple with a loud pop to say, "So desperate for release already, aren't you, pretty girl?" Phoebe nodded, pushing her hips up into empty air.
"We can't have you closing your legs when you're supposed to be relaxing, can we?" Julien said, breaking contact with Phoebe and raising her eyebrows at Lucy suggestively.
"Oh no, we can't have that," she replied, smirking in return to Julien's expression.
Phoebe watched this exchange and threw her head back with a groan, knowing that whatever this meant for her would be deliciously torturous. While Julien broke off to grab God-knows-what to use on her, Lucy kissed her once again, moving her to be in the very center of the bed. She grabbed her hands, pinning them above her head, causing Phoebe's back to arch. Lucy slotted her knee between her thighs, pressing up with just enough pressure to drive Phoebe crazy. Lucy smirked at Phoebe's needy expression, bringing her other hand to wrap possessively around her throat. She pressed ever so slightly, watching as Phoebe gasps with eyes rolling back into her head.
"Please, Lucy, please, I need to feel you- your touch, your mouth, anything please," Phoebe whimpered, surprised at her own desperation.
"Awwwww, so needy already, baby? I bet you're dripping, aren't you? Such a pretty little mess for us." Lucy spoke lowly in her ear, pressing her knee harder onto where Phoebe needed her most and biting down harshly near her collarbone. Phoebe moaned, feeling like she had entered heaven.
At that very moment, Julien re-entered the room carrying an assortment of things; ropes, a leather paddle with a heart shape cut out of it, lube, the black-and-red sparkly swirled vibrating strap-on Lucy had bought for times like these, and a pair of leather cuffs. She tapped Lucy on the shoulder so that she could move and Phoebe could see what she had coming.
Julien smirked as Phoebe’s jaw dropped open. Her eyes widened, taking in all of the things that Julien had brought to use on her.
“You like what you see, baby?” Julien put the stuff down on the bed and went to take her own shirt off, Lucy following suit. Phoebe turned to bury her face in the pillows, suddenly too aware of how exposed she was to them.
“Now she’s shy, is she?” Julien laughed teasingly, sidling up to be beside Phoebe again and turning her back around to press short kisses all over her face.
“Remember, we only use what you want,” Lucy reminded her, now in her underwear only.
Phoebe’s eyes raked up and down her body before responding, “Fuck, I want it all.”
Lucy giggled at her eagerness and moved back down to give her a short kiss, motioning for Julien to prepare the rope. She shimmied Phoebe’s underwear down her legs, kissing down her stomach causing her to shiver as she did so. She stopped at her pussy, taking in just how wet Phoebe was for them.
“God, you really are desperate, aren’t you?” She teased, trailing her fingertips along Phoebe’s inner thighs as she attempted to close her legs again.
“Ah ah ah,” Lucy said, forcing them apart and grabbing the rope from Julien. She quickly and efficiently tied one leg to the bed frame, then the other, effectively restraining her from hiding herself from them. Phoebe looked on in shock and arousal as Julien grabbed her hands and tied them to the bed frame above her head.
Once they had made sure nothing was too tight, Julien nudged Lucy aside to kiss Phoebe passionately. She tried to move her hands to tangle in Julien’s hair but they didn’t budge, held securely in place with her thoughtfully tied knots. Julien trailed kisses down her jawline, stopping to nip at her ear. Phoebe tried in vain to close her legs, whimpering and becoming more needy by the second. Just when she thought she might cry if she didn’t get some relief, she felt Lucy’s mouth on her inner thigh, right next to where she was dripping for her. She inched closer as Julien began leaving hickeys down her neck and chest, taking her nipples between her teeth and biting down just enough to make Phoebe feel like she was on fire. At the same time, Lucy’s mouth finally found her center, licking up the wetness that had gathered there. She took her clit into her mouth and sucked, and Phoebe moaned, hips bucking into Lucy’s face. Julien pulled her hips down harshly, digging her nails into the skin there.
“Such a needy whore for us, aren’t you? Look at you all tied up, bucking your hips into Lucy’s face like the pretty little slut you are. I bet you could come right now, couldn’t you, gorgeous?” Julien’s words shot straight to Phoebe’s pussy, a whole new wave of arousal washing over her. It was almost too much as Lucy’s fingers entered her, fucking into her at a rough pace, mouth still pressing wet kisses to her clit. Lucy curled her fingers up, hitting a spot that made her cry out as her eyes rolled back.
Lucy continued her efforts for a few minutes and soon Phoebe’s legs were shaking, and then tensing, straining against her restraints.
Lucy pulled her mouth away from Phoebe’s center, her thumb keeping pace on her clit as she said, “Go ahead, angel, give it to me,” and that was all it took.
Phoebe came with a cry, the added sensations of the rope around her wrists and ankles enhancing her orgasm in a way she didn’t know possible. Lucy fucked her through it as Julien came up to kiss her neck softly, letting her ride out her high.
When Lucy finally took her fingers out of her, Phoebe was open-mouthed and panting, sweat glistening on her brow. Lucy brought her fingers up to her mouth and rested them on her lips.
“Open,” she said, and Phoebe immediately obliged, sucking them into her mouth and moaning at the taste. Julien set about untying the knots and came back around to kiss Phoebe sweetly once Lucy’s fingers had been sucked clean and Phoebe’s wrists and ankles had been freed.
“Look at you, my love. You’re so pretty, so absolutely perfect for us. You’re such a good girl for us angel,” Lucy said, coming to lay down beside her and stroking her hair out of her face.
Phoebe turned to look at her, eyes shrouded in her afterglow. She turned to see Julien beaming at her from her other side and let the smile tentatively spread to her own face.
Lucy leaned down to kiss her, letting Phoebe taste her sweetness on her face. The moment Phoebe registered that she was free to move her limbs again she was pulling Lucy on top of her, reveling in the comforting weight of her. Julien came to snuggle into them, pushing Lucy so that there was room for her on top of Phoebe, replacing Lucy’s lips on hers. They dissolved into a pile of giggles and limbs, eventually settling so that Phoebe was between them again.
Julien and Lucy each took a wrist in their hands and set about kissing all over the rope marks, and Phoebe’s smile grew wider. Lucy turned to the bedside table where there was a full glass of water, courtesy of Julien when she had gone to get her bag of tricks, and made Phoebe sit up and drink some.
“Luce, do I haaaave to? I’m so comfortable,” she said, pouting at the thought of having to move a muscle.
“You either drink the water or I spank your ass sore, and you’re still going to have to drink it after that,” Lucy says, surprising even Julien, who’s jaw almost hits the floor.
“I meeeaaann…” Phoebe giggles suggestively, causing Julien to laugh in disbelief and Lucy to roll her eyes fondly.
“Next time! Now, seriously, drink this before your drop catches up to you,” she laughs, forcing Phoebe’s head back with the glass and effectively spilling half of it on the bedding.
“God, ok, fine!! I’ll drink it myself,” Phoebe says, taking the glass and downing the rest with as much grace as she can muster in her fucked-out state.
“How- how’d you like that?” Julien said, taking the glass out of her hand and waiting expectantly for her answer.
“God, I don’t think I’ve ever came so hard in my life,” Phoebe responds, cheeks reddening as she turns to bury her face in Lucy’s cleavage. Lucy laughs, running her hands through her hair.
“We know how much you love being all tied up for us, baby. Wanna see how the other toys feel next time?” Julien says, gesturing towards the pile of assorted goodies, still unused.
“Yes please. Can we try something with the strap and the paddle next time?” She asks timidly, turning to look both of them in their eyes.
“Hell yeah,” comes their unison response, sending all three of them laughing again.
“Thank you guys, seriously. It means the world to me that you want to do this for me.”
“Of course we do, princess. Are you feeling any better than before?” Julien asks, turning over so that she’s spooning Phoebe’s side.
After some contemplation, Phoebe’s response is, “I feel a lot lighter than before. But, I think I could be even floatier with the help of that little devil right there.” She gestures towards the paddle specifically.
“Awwww, I love my little pain slut,” Julien says, leaning in to kiss Phoebe slowly.
“Hey, that’s OUR pain slut, thank you very much!” Lucy exclaims in mock offense.
“Ladies, ladies, please, there’s enough of me to go around!” Phoebe says, and they all laugh at their own ridiculousness.
Eventually they manage to untangle themselves from each other to go get cleaned up and put their bathing suits on, deciding to spend the rest of their sunny day off at the hotel pool. Phoebe is glowing and so are Lucy and Julien, happy to see the pink in her cheeks again. When they get back to their room, they detangle Phoebe’s hair (much to her annoyance) and fall asleep in her bed together, intertwined and warm in each other’s arms.
Right before passing out, Phoebe musters up the energy to whisper, “I love you.”
“I love you more,” comes Julien’s response.
“I love you most,” comes Lucy’s.

GranEssex Live Konoa Reaction (part 1)
Henlo I am deciding to do a live reading of @kachikirby ‘s series GranEssex Chronicles
I’m gonna try and go through the entire series, starting with the first book, “Wings of Beginning”
This is my first full-on live blogging(?) post, so idk if theres any way I should be doing it but f*ck it we ball
Anyway there’s a lot of text so behind a cut it goes!
(SPOILER WARNING cuz i’ll also be talking about what goes down in the book to give context for my ramblings)
Chapter 1
Note: Gonna try to use punctuation for now but this will probably disintegrate as time goes on (me hate punctuation on tumblr blog ooga booga). Also this live blog is pretty summary-heavy, but I’ll try to tone that down in future posts.
I’ve technically read up until chapter 4, but I’m gonna go ahead and backtrack to look over the previous chapters again and give my reaction on those :D it would feel weird to just start it halfway through anyway. The chapter opens up with Kurabe (if u don’t know who that is you should probably go check out Kachi’s account) going on a mission to eliminate a criminal group only to see that everyone’s just been absolutely bodied by some blue toddler with a stick. Kurabe’s like, “hey I need to take u in for questioning” and the kid is like “nuh uh” and tries clubbing her to death, but obviously Kurabe is stronger so she just blocks him. Even though I was only, like, two sentences in, my attention was already grabbed; I was very excited to see what happened next :D Anyway, Kurabe gets one of her swords knocked out of her hand by the kid, and she’s just like “ah.” But then she teleports behind him and chops him in the back of the head with her hand, causing the kid to faint. I was kinda surprised that she just knocked him out like that, but I guess it makes sense because she had a job to do lmao. Anyway she gets back to her ship and Mercury is there and, upon seeing the child, is just like “HUH”. Kurabe says that he’s fine and only has minor injuries, so she goes to her room to patch him up a little. She wondered why someone would leave their kid on a planet with so much criminal activity, and I honestly agreed because I was just as confused 💀 who leaves a whole toddler on the planetary equivalent of Detroit??? Insane, bro. So anyway she cleans him up and after he wakes up, Kurabe says good morning to him and the kid just immediately goes
Tumblr media
Anyway, Kurabe tells him to calm down and asks his name, to which the child responds, “Meta.” It was pretty much implied from the start that this was Meta Knight, but I was still like “OOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ITS HIM” Anyway cue Meta being suspicious of Kurabe and Kurabe trying her best to calm him down. I’m watching this whole interaction go down and honestly wondering if Meta’s just gonna straight up maul Kurabe, but thankfully he doesn’t. Kurabe’s maternal urges start taking over and she offers to raise Meta- err, I meannn… train him (because I can’t imagine it would be good to send him back to space Detroit 💀) and Meta asks if he can stay on her ship forever. Kurabe is like “yeah sure” and then after talking, she helps show him around his new room and then they sit down and have a meal together. The image of Meta playing with the spaghetti was really cute :D Meta makes mention of Kurabe’s sword and Kurabe tells him that she’d train him. However, she did warn him that he training was so intense that students have quit or even DIED because of it (which is…. Scary /not neg). He agrees to the training. Meta then got kinda tired so he went to go to sleep, and as Kurabe was tucking him in, he grabs onto her and they end up falling asleep together :DD Overall this was a very cute chapter and it does a great job of grabbing the attention.

Magic City (2d x autistic transboy reader)
Morning after part 2
Start from the beginning
"Anyway, not that I don't enjoy your company but don't you have somewhere to be?"
My eyes go wide. "Uhh yeah I should go home". I begin to stand up by y/n stops me.
"Stuart your shoes are untied"
"Fuck uhh"
"..Do you need someone to tie them?"
"How did you know?"
She sits me back down then gets on one knee and starts to tie them. "You told me last night Murdoc would tie them. You forget how to sometimes, which is understandable you got hit with a car".
I'm baffled and don't know what to say besides stuttering, "I-I uh told you th-that much?". Not so charming on my part. I mentally slap myself for saying it.  God,Murdoc is right, I am an idiot.
"You told me a lot mate, but dont beat yourself up about it. I still think you're cool", she says tying the last knot and standing up in front of me.
"Thank you", I look down at my shoes she just tied and start to tear up. It made me think of Murdoc and how I miss him. The more I think about it the more tears run down my cheeks. No no, stop it you don't miss him. I feel her pull my head to her stomach and run her fingers through my hair.
"You're okay, please don't cry", she says in a gentle hushed voice. I close my eyes and wrap my arms around her. She continues to run her fingers through my hair to soothe me. "Feel better? or I mean Feel Good? heh, im sorry bad timing".
I can't help but chuckle at her terrible joke as I let go of her. "It's fine luv. Yes I do feel good. I feel good Inc. actually. You know that's the name of the song not just feel good"
"Are you calling me a fake fan?"
I look at her confused. "You can't be a fan, you're a human not something with blades that cools people down. Even so you can't be fake"
She laughs a little. "No, I mean a fan as in a fan of the band".
My face flusters up realizing my stupid mistake. "Oh...yeah, sorry"
She laughs. "Its okay, its kinda cute. In a weird sort of way, I mean the circumstances was awful and im sure its not fun for you..eh I'll stop talking".
"Im glad you like to ramble too," I smile up at her as reassurance.
She nods. "Umm I'll see you later then?".
"Oh right", I stand up from my chair then wave her goodbye before heading out the door.
Two weeks later
9:00 pm finally rolls around. I have on a plain grey t-shirt with faded jeans and black boots. If (y/n) can see me while I'm ugly crying and drunk then this should be fine. I grab my phone before walking to the front room.
Noodle is sitting on the couch and looks up from her book. "Going back Toochi?"
I stop at the door to look at her. "Uh, yeah I am".
"You've been going back every night and Ace said you met someone. When are we going to meet her?" she teases with a smile.
"Oh uhhh I don't know see ya later Noodle!" I say before rushing out the door. It's not like we're dating or anything. I don't even like her I mean yeah she's really nice, comforting, a good listener, really pretty, beautiful, soft....
Okay maybe I like her a little bit.
I brush the thought off as I walk into Magic City. I'm greeted with bopping music with pink and red lights blinding me.
I walk up to the manager and ask for (y/n).
" Yes, follow me she'll be with you in just a moment," she tells me as she leads me to a booth. As we're walking I spot (y/n) with a client. It is painfully obvious that she's flirting. I know it's her job so I'm not bent out of shape about it. Still it stings.
"Here you go, just sit tight" she said before leaving me alone in the red velvet booth.
I sit down and wait for (y/n).
About 10 minutes later she comes in and upon seeing my face she brightens up. She sits on my lap like she did before.
"You will not believe the night I've had". She starts. "People kept touching me even though you're not supposed to. It wasn't anything too bad but it gets annoying not to mention people asking about dates and ugghhh," she groans.
"Sounds like you've had a rough day luv," I reply.
"Tell me about it, so how was your day?"
"Eh we 'ave our tour dates scheduled we're going around the world"
"Ohh sounds fun, oh I guess you'll be gone a while huh?" she said her voice kinda sad at the last part.
"Well we won't be leaving for a while and I have a question"
"oh? What's that?'
"Well just to add to your ever growing list of men that have asked you out, I'd like to add my name to the list and ask if you wanted to go on a date with me?"

What Could Have Been Was Good, But What We Have Now Is Better
Part Two to You Didn't Need Us Then, We Don't Need you Now
Requested by:
@alistorhq
@hiphopdancer101universe
@trinatiger
@lightbulb77724
plus some anons.
Quackity x reader; past sapnap x karl x quackity x reader
trigger warnings: some swearing, yelling, mentions of drinking/being hungover
premise: The confrontation, and what follows
{Okay, so at first, I was gonna have this as like a collection of various moments that would have happened in the two year span, plus the confrontation, but then I was like but that might be clunky. So, if you guys want, I'll do a part three with the little scenes I had been thinking about}
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Slowly, the sun began to climb into the sky, beginning to peak out from between the tall buildings of Las Nevadas.
Slowly, you stirred, glaring out the open window at the sun.
For a moment, everything was normal. Your fiancé's soft snores and Charlie's soft humming from the other room almost convinced you that it was just a normal day.
But then you fully sat up, untangling yourself from Quackity's arms and glancing around to where your other 'children' were still asleep in various places in the living room.
The previous day and the reason for your camping out in the living room came flooding back to you as you stood, stretching.
Shaking your head, you went to go get dressed, beginning to recall the so called script you had made yourself the night before.
Halfway through fixing your hair, Quackity ducked into the half open bathroom door, pressing a kiss to your cheek, "Good morning baby."
"Morning." You sighed, "Are you hungover or did Purp get you to stop soon enough?"
"ehhh, it's not that bad..." He said.
You nodded, turning to lean against the counter and look at him fully, "I assume that your in the same boat as me, with this whole Situation...?"
"Depends on which boat that is."
You shook your head, "What could have been was good, but..." You glanced back out the door to where you could hear Fundy and Charlie talking, "I think what we have now Is better."
Quackity seemed to breath a sigh of relief, quickly pulling you into his arms, "I agree. I know that I loved them once... but... even then it felt like being the odd one out... I don't think I'd be able to handle it again. Not after knowing what they'd done. It- it hurts to even see them..."
You melted into the embrace, glad to know he was on your side, "I'll take care of everything. I promise."
~~ After sending Charlie out to go find Sapnap and Karl, and send them to your office, you headed down to your office for yourself.
There you mindlessly organized your desk, with only semi shaky hands.
"(y/n)?"
Your head snapped up, upon hearing Karls voice, "Come in."
They entered, Karl beginning too look around at the pictures on one of the shelves as Sapnap asked, "So, where Quackity? Doesn't seem like a fair discussion if not all of us are here."
"Yeah," Karl agreed, "He should have a say too."
You rubbed at your eyes, "Unfortunately, we thought it best, for me to handle this. Q, wasn't sure he'd- deal with it in the right way."
"Well that's Quackity for you." Karl mumbled, moving to sit in one of the chairs facing your desk.
"Never could fight his own battles- not that this is one." Sapnap interrupted himself.
You frowned, "Well... I'd hardly say that. He's the one who built this place- well, I designed some buildings, he did the rest. Getting the Badlands off our backs peacefully last year was all him. Not so much peacefully as with many threats..."
Karl nodded, almost expecting you to tell the story, but you shook your head, "Anyway, that's not what I asked you here to talk about."
"Of course," Sapnap agreed, "Obviously, our relationship is slightly more important."
You sighed, "There's one thing, actually that I think I should preface with, before I state our position. Where the fuck did you go? Why the fuck did you leave us? And Why do you think you just get to show up now?"
They sat shocked for a moment, and you couldn't help but smirk, gesturing for them to speak, "No, please enlighten me. I'd like to know."
Karl and Sapnap looked to each other, Karl shaking his head, before Sapnap whispered, "We have to, if we want them back."
"I..." He faltered, turning to you, before squeaking, "I- couldn't- remember you- until a week ago."
You froze for a moment, but before you could make any comment, he rambled on, "Because of all this crazy stuff- I travel- like- through time- it was messing with my head- but it's better now, and we're here! To marry you guys!"
You looked at him confused, "Time travel?"
He nodded sagely, "I've... seen more than you can imagine, i've seen nations rise and fall, universes collapse. Hero's that even Tommy couldn't compare too, evils that..."
Karl's voice faltered, and Sapnap reached over to take his hand comfortingly.
"Let me guess. You found out that everything turns to dust eventually..." You sighed, rubbing at your temples.
"It never works out." Tiny tears leaked from his eyes, and Sapnap was quick to get up, pulling Karl into his arms.
~~ "Why did you do that?" Sapnap asked, his voice soft, but still with an air of hostility.
Karl had gone back to the hotel, quickly and quietly, tears still falling.
"I didn't do anything-"
"Clearly you did!" He cut you off.
You shook your head, pushing back your chair and standing, If he forgot us... why didn't you remind him? Tell us about him about us? Or actually come up here like you said you would?!"
"Because maybe I wanted things to be the way that they were! Maybe I liked not sharing! But maybe it was because I had to deal with that!"
You continued to pace as he sat down heavily, "He was going insane (y/n), he saw the end of everything! He had to watch the rise and fall o L'manburg over and over! He's seen the egg come and go! I had to take care of him!"
"And you don't think I've had to take care of things? You two left and I had to put Q back together! I still have to put him together sometimes! I had to keep planning this the whole time! And then I get all these fucking child soldiers all these people that your fucking friend ruined, and I had to take care of them!
I held it all together until it itself stuck- and now I have a family! And that seems like it's more than what you two could've given us! You think you're the one that had to deal with someone who'd seen too much- Charlie's been here since the beginning of the server! He may seem fine but he is haunted!
Don't act like you're the only one whos had to 'go through it' because I made a home and a family and I take care of them- even though you leaving broke me! So don't lecture me! You didn't need us then, and we sure as hell don't need you now!"
You sat down, running your hands through your hair, tugging at the ends and not daring to look at Sapnap.
"Are you serious? Wouldn't us coming back help put you back together?"
"We learned to live without you, and I don't think I want to unlearn, and it seems like my family is with me."
Still you could not make yourself look up at him.
"I guess I understand."
There was a quiet shuffling of the chair, then footsteps, before you could finally breath again and your soft sobs began to fill the office.
~~ It had hardly been two minutes before Quackity was entering your office, kneeling in front of you and pulling you into his arms, whispering about how brave you are.
You cried into his chest, "I didn't think I could do it- what if it was a mistake-"
"no babey, you did perfect. You know it yourself we are better without them. We've got our family we don't need them. You are so, so brave and I am so proud of you. So proud of you (y/n)."
He pressed kisses to your hair, trying to pull you impossibly closer to him, "Thank you... for doing something I couldn't."
You only sobbed harder, clinging to him.
That was how the others found you later, in a heap on the floor.
Wordlessly, Purpled sat next to the two of you, resting a gentle hand on your shoulder.
Fundy found himself sitting as well, leaning against you. Charlie hummed softly as he went about fixing the chairs that Karl and Sapnap had left in disarray.
"Let us take care of you now." Quackity said softly.
The others made noises of agreement, and you let out your final sob.
Because your family was there where Sapnap and Karl weren't. And they would take care of you, the way you took care of them.

Tumblr media
"38... 38... 38..."
I scanned the doors to the many apartments in the hall, hoping to find the one that belonged to my newest patient – Anna Pivec. As a nurse, I was always given new patients to visit and tend to until they no longer needed it or chose not to have me around. I'd just been assigned a new patient, Anna, and was excited to meet her.
"38!" I said to myself, spotting the door at the end of the hallway. I knocked on before waiting patiently, hoping she wasn't sleeping or anything. It wasn't too early – 10AM – and she knew I was coming, so finger's crossed.
The door opened to reveal a short, old lady with grey hair and a cane in her hand. I smiled kindly, meeting her cloudy gaze.
"You must be the one my granddaughter is paying to look after me because she can't do it herself," the woman spoke before I could introduce myself. Stepping to the side, she motioned with her cane. "Come on in."
My smile dropped at her abruptness. "I, er, yeah, I guess that's me." As I walked in, I said, "My name is Y/N Y/L/N. The nurse from–"
"Yeah, I know where you're from," she cut me off, closing the door and heading further into her apartment. "They sent me a brochure, milaya."
I followed after her, surprised at how quick she was for an old lady with back and heart problems. She was leading me into the open plan living-room and kitchen.
"I'm sorry – milaya? What does that mean?" I asked politely, hoping I didn't come across as rude.
She waved her hand dismissively, mumbling something to herself in what I think was Russian. Her profile did say she was from Sokovia, so maybe that was it.
"Okay, erm, well, as I said," I changed the subject, figuring she wouldn't give me an answer, "I'm Y/N. I'll be here five times a week and basically be doing anything you need me to do. Of course, I only want you to be comfortable in your own home, so if you ever feel anything but, please let me know."
She hummed in acknowledgement before motioning for me to follow her. I set my bag on the kitchen counter before sitting on the couch as she did so on the recliner. She sighed with content as the pain on her back was eased from taking a seat.
"Tell me about yourself," she said gently.
I smiled with amusement. "That's usually what I ask my patients."
"Do forgive me, milaya," she said, and I made a mental note to bring a Russian-English dictionary with me tomorrow, "but you're a stranger in my home. I'd prefer to know about you before I let you take care of me."
I nodded, slightly impressed. Her profile didn't do her justice. Usually, the elderly I cared for were quick to allow me to do my thing, never really questioning who I was or what my intentions were. I was starting to get the impression that Anna was a strong, stubborn woman in a little old lady's body – definitely not one to mess around with.
"Okay, well, I'm a nurse," I began with the basics, and from there, went into a long ramble about my job, how I got into it, what it consisted of...
Anna was full of questions, taking the time to get to know me and I her. Once I had told her everything I could think to, she told me about her life. How she lived in Sokovia up until she was thirty-five years old and had to flee with her husband and daughter because of the war. She gushed about the both of them, a twinkle in her eye as she recalled their livelihoods like they were still alive. Her husband had unfortunately passed many years ago due to liver problems – "All that drinking, milaya! Us Sokovians are a force to be reckoned with!" – and her daughter had passed in a car accident not long after.
It was a tragic tale, but she didn't let it bring her down. In fact, she seemed grateful to have lived it and I couldn't help but smile as she shared it with me.
I noticed she would speak short phrases in Russian mid-conversation, without realising, which didn't make it easier for me to understand, but I couldn't bring it in myself to interrupt her to ask what they meant because she said it with such sincerity that I figured it reminded her of her home.
After our conversation, I made her lunch and gave her her medication before watching some TV with her and pretty much talking to her once again. She was quite an interesting woman, different to my usual patients, and I was enjoying our time together. After spending the day there, I wished her a good night before leaving.
When I returned the next morning, I let myself in with the key Anna gave me and called out a good morning.
"In here!" an unfamiliar female voice called out.
I furrowed my brows as I took off my jacket and headed into the living-area. Anna was sat in her recliner as usual, but she had a guest sat on her couch. A young woman, possibly my age, with long dark hair and a friendly smile on her lips was sat comfortably; she had a cup of tea in her hands and her legs pulled up on the couch like she lived there.
The stranger and Anna exchanged words in Russian briefly before the former stood up, about to introduce herself.
"Oh, are you her granddaughter?" I asked, putting two and two together. It was the only explanation I could think of for how comfortable she was and the fact that she was also Sokovian (I assumed, anyway).
The girl laughed, her green eyes sparkling as she shook her head. Putting out her hand, she said, "I'm Wanda Maximoff. Anna's neighbour."
Slightly embarrassed by my mistake, I smiled awkwardly and shook her hand. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have– I just thought because you were speaking Russian that–"
"It's fine, no harm no foul," she put me at ease quickly, before taking her seat again. "I've lived next door to Anna for about a year now. Sometimes I keep her company on my days off."
I set my bag on the floor before taking a seat on the couch, leaving a gap between Wanda and I.
"That's nice," I said with a smile before looking to Anna. "How are you feeling this morning, Mrs Pivec?"
She sighed, waving her hand dismissively, before saying something to Wanda in Russian who was listening intently. Nodding her head, Wanda looked to me with amusement.
"What did she say?" I asked, quirking a brow.
"She said she told you to stop calling her Mrs Pivec yesterday," Wanda translated, trying not to laugh.
"Just call me Anna, Y/N," Anna added with a nod. "And I'm fine. Just had breakfast with Wanda here."
"Breakfast," I repeated slowly. "How long ago was that? Just gotta make sure you get your meds."
"Shoot, am I doing your job?" Wanda asked, slightly panicked.
"No, no, you're not." I laughed at the way she scrunched her nose. "I mean, it would help if I could have breakfast with Miss– Anna, so I know when she has her medication. But it's all good."
"Are you sure? I can leave if I'm in the way," Wanda said with a frown.
"No need," I reassured her. "If Anna doesn't mind your presence, it's all good. I'm just here to look after her, clean up, make sure she eats, has her meds."
Wanda looked to Anna, who seemed unbothered by her presence.
"She can stay," Anna said with a shrug. "Makes it feel less like I'm a pet."
I opened my mouth to say something, possibly make her feel better, but I wasn't sure what to say.
"Don't mind her," Wanda reassured, giving Anna a knowing look before shooting me an easygoing smile. "She tends to speak her mind exactly as it is. No filter whatsoever. And very stubborn. You may have noticed."
I cracked a smile, feeling better knowing that it wasn't just me who noticed Anna's unique personality traits.
"Hey, that stubbornness and lack of filter is exactly how I beat my husband and his friends in every poker game back home," Anna said with a playful smirk.
Wanda and I chuckled, before the brunette leaned on the couch comfortably and looked to me.
"We finished breakfast, maybe, ten minutes ago? I made us eggs and toast," she answered my question from earlier.
I hummed before getting up with my bag and heading to the kitchen. Setting my bag on the counter, I grabbed my diary and also Anna's medication from its place on the kitchen counter.
"I'll give you your medicine now, Anna," I told her, already grabbing a glass of water for her.
"Thank you, milaya," she called back, and I spun around, immediately going to get my Russian-English dictionary from my bag. "Wait, I know what that is!" I flicked through the pages and scanned it eagerly. "Milaya... milaya... milaya! Okay, it means... sweetie."
"Sweetie," Wanda said at the same time, and I looked up to see her watching me from behind her cup of tea, trying not to laugh again.
"I guess another perk of your presence is being the translator," I said sheepishly, realising just how eager I was a second ago. "Anna likes to speak Russian a lot, which I'm fine with of course, but..." I waved the dictionary in the air.
"It's funny watching tvoye lichiko, milaya," Anna said with that same mischievous smirk on her face.
I looked down to my dictionary, struggling to pinpoint a single word in her sentence that I could search. It was overwhelming, the words going in one ear and out the other.
"She said it's funny watching your little face, sweetie," Wanda translated upon seeing my frozen state.
I relaxed my shoulders. "Thanks." Then I realised what she said. "Hey!"
Anna laughed as Wanda grinned, and I was suddenly glad she was here. I grabbed Anna's meds with a glass of water before giving them to her. After making sure she swallowed them properly, I put the glass to the side and took a seat on the couch again.
"So, you said you visited Anna on your days off?" I asked Wanda, intrigued by why a neighbour would be so interested in another. It wasn't very common in today's day and age.
"She's almost always here," Anna answered before Wanda could speak. I looked to her as she continued with a grateful smile. "Helps me with everything. Groceries, cleaning, my medication."
"So basically me but unpaid," I joked, and Anna laughed.
"Exactly," she agreed, and I looked to Wanda to see her blushing, eyes avoiding mine.
"That's really sweet," I said gently, earning her attention. "You're a really good neighbour, Wanda."
Wanda ran a hand through her hair. "It's nothing. If anything, I enjoy being here. Anna reminds me of Sokovia and my family and, well, home."
"Oh, so you're Sokovian, too?"
She nodded before smiling playfully. "Did the accent not give it away?"
I hid a smile. "I didn't want to assume. I mean, you could've been Czech. Slovakian. Basically anything else."
"Okay, I'll give you that," she gave in, tilting her head to the side, smile widening.
It was then that I learnt her smile was extremely contagious.
Same as yesterday, my plan was to stay the day with Anna, though this time Wanda also kept her company (and me, too). After lunch, I left the two of them to watch some TV as I excused myself to change Anna's bedsheets in her room, ready for bed tonight.
As I was doing so, I heard the door open and glanced over my shoulder to see Wanda entering the room. I gave her a smile before continuing to replace the pillowcase.
"Here, I can help," she offered, and didn't give me chance to decline as she grabbed the pillow on the other side of the bed and began to change its case.
"You sure? You know it's my job, right?" I teased, looking up at her over the bed between us.
She rolled her eyes playfully. "I'm aware. Just thought I'd make it a bit easier for you."
I chuckled. "Well, I appreciate it... how is Anna?"
"Dozed off," Wanda quipped with an expectant nod. "Same time every day. Like clockwork."
"Huh." I thought back to yesterday and how she ended up taking a nap after lunch, too. "Noted. Thanks."
Wanda smiled before putting the pillowcase on the pillow and puffing it with her hands. I did the same, content with its appearance, before moving to the duvet. Wordlessly, Wanda grabbed one end and began to help me put it on, which I appreciated. The duvet was bigger than I was and definitely a two-person job.
"Hey, can I ask you something?" I spoke out of the blue as we were putting on the duvet cover.
"Go for it," she said encouragingly, glancing sideways.
"Of course, you don't have to answer, but I thought I'd ask since I'm going to be looking after Anna for a while," I gave a little disclaimer, before saying, "She makes a lot of snide remarks about her granddaughter. Do they not get along?"
Wanda sighed quietly. "Her granddaughter doesn't really visit her here. She rarely calls."
"Her daughter's kid?"
"The only one," Wanda confirmed. "She keeps her distance, ever since her mum – Anna's daughter – passed. She just pays for, well, you."
I frowned. "That's sad."
"Yeah," Wanda agreed, breathing out.
The two of us spread the duvet over the double bed before I looked to her with a small smile.
"At least she has you," I pointed out. "It's nice you give up your free time to spend it with her."
"Like I said, it's good for me, too," she reminded me, returning the smile.
"So what do you do when you're not here keeping her company?" I asked curiously, moving to Anna's bedside to clear it up a little.
Wanda hid her smile behind a look of confusion. "Do you not– don't you recognise me?"
I quirked a brow, pausing my actions. "Am I supposed to?"
She snickered, shaking her head, eyes falling to the bed with mild disbelief. "I mean, I guess not. I'm–" She chuckled, looking to my confused face. "I'm one of the Avengers."
I studied her, her words not quite settling in. But when they did, I realised I actually recognised her and she was one of the Avengers.
"Oh my God!" I blurted, the penny finally dropping. "The one with the weird red energy powers! I mean– not weird but– the magic!"
She stifled laughter, nodding her head. Just like her smile, her laughter was contagious, too.
"Yeah, that's me," she confirmed.
I made a weird motion with my free hand, like I'd seen her do on TV when saving the day. "Does Anna know about your y'know?"
Wanda crossed her arms, raising a brow and watching me with a humoured gaze. "Is that supposed to be my powers?"
I stopped making the motion and felt my neck heating up. "I– yeah."
Laughter spilled from her lips yet again, automatically making me smile. I didn't mind that I'd made a fool of myself all of a sudden.
"Anna knows, yes," Wanda said with a bright smile. "She actually recognised me straight away. Much quicker than you. And she's eighty."
Waving my hand to distract from my flushed cheeks, I said, "Pfft, she probably confused you with someone else and played along when you told her who you were."
"Yeah, I'm sure that was it, ty milyy maneken," she retorted with her piercing gaze.
"No fair, my dictionary is in the other room," I said with a pout, and she only laughed even more.
"Guess you'll never know," she teased with a smirk, making me roll my eyes to distract from the way it made me feel when she stared at me like that.
It was much later on when I learnt that she had called me 'a cute dummy'. And that was the beautiful start to Wanda and I's introduction into each other's lives.
From then onwards, about eighty percent of the time I would go to care for Anna, Wanda was present, too and I didn't mind one bit. Not only did she keep Anna company, but she made my job a lot easier whilst keeping me company as well.
I was beginning to look forward to seeing her whenever I would open the door. Whether she was cleaning something up, playing board games with Anna or simply having a tidy up around the apartment, she'd always stop what she was doing and help me with whatever was in my hands as she greeted me at the door. It was adorable. She was adorable.
The few times she wasn't present because of work only made me miss her, the apartment feeling emptier than usual. Even Anna agreed, the two of us making up for the lack of the Sokovian girl's presence by distracting ourselves with other activities.
I was convinced Anna was warming up to me as she freely let me care for her without resistance. Obviously, she wouldn't be Anna if she didn't throw funny remarks my way or speak to me in Russian, knowing I didn't understand her, but it was tolerable. And I was liking her, too; she was easily becoming one of the best patients I cared for. There was just so much personality to her that I couldn't help but smile whenever I spoke to her.
One time, I was helping Anna out at her place when Wanda wasn't present. I was leading her into her bed when I decided now was a better time than ever to ask her about her birthday on Sunday, which I knew was then because of her file.
"So, I'll be seeing you in two days next," I told her as I pulled the duvet over her. "And a little birdie told me it's your birthday then. Eighty-one, Anna! That's amazing!"
She smiled but seemed embarrassed that I knew.
"Tell me what you want and I can make it happen," I said promisingly, smiling down at her.
She waved her hand. "I don't want anything, milaya (sweetie). Your presence is enough."
I chuckled. "As sweet as that is, I know everybody wants something for their birthday. Now please, Anna. What can I do to make the day a bit more special?"
She pondered my question momentarily and I waited for her to speak, hoping it was something doable.
"I would love to have a traditional Sokovian meal," she said reluctantly. "It's been a long time."
I breathed out quietly, patting her hand gently. "I can do that, Anna. Don't you worry."
She smiled genuinely, before shooing me away. "Okay, enough sappiness, ty mozhesh' uyti seychas (you can leave now)."
I laughed, standing up and dusting my pants off. I only knew what that phrase meant because she said it almost every time before my shift ended and I left for the day. I knew she didn't mean it as harshly as it sounded.
"I'm going, I'm going," I said, already heading to the door. "I'll see you Sunday, birthday girl."
She groaned quietly, making me grin, before I double checked everything was okay in the living-area and grabbed my stuff to leave.
As easy of a request that it was, I knew absolutely nothing about cooking a traditional Sokovian meal. But I knew of one person who did and instantly headed to Wanda's apartment next door to see if she was home.
With a quick knock, I waited patiently. I wasn't sure if she was even home since she hadn't visited Anna today and she usually did so if she was. When I was beginning to think she wasn't, I told myself I could Google a recipe and put something together, but then the door opened and revealed a tired-looking Wanda.
"Y/N," she said with surprise, but a friendly smile was on her lips nonetheless.
"Hey, I'm so sorry to disturb you this late, but I wanted to ask– wait, what happened to your face?" I stopped speaking and lost my own smile when I noticed the faint scratches and bruises dusting her skin.
"Oh, it's nothing–" she started, raising her hand, fingers wavering over her head, but I cut her off.
"Shit, Wanda, what happened?" I reached out, taking her hand in mine and studying the cast that was around her wrist. Concerned frown on my lips, I glanced up at her. "Are you okay?"
"It's fine, Y/N," she tried to reassure, but I couldn't help it as my worry got the better of me and I studied the cuts on her cheek. "I just came back from a mission. Minor injuries. Honestly."
I let go of her hand, realising I was still holding it, and nodded slightly. "Right..." Realising she must have been exhausted, I awkwardly stepped back and shook my head with realisation. "Sorry, I should go. I didn't mean to bot–"
"You were saying something," she interrupted, nodding encouragingly. "You wanted to ask me something. What is it?"
I paused, nodding. Admittedly, I was still worried about the bruises on her forehead. I knew she was an Avenger and this was probably the norm for her, but to me, it looked like she'd just got mugged. And the irregularity of that worried me.
"Yeah, I was saying," I finally found my words, trying to ignore the way her tired eyes peered at me hopefully. "It's Anna's birthday on Sunday and she wants to have a traditional Sokovian meal to celebrate. The only problem is, I don't know what that is." Wanda cracked a smile as I continued. "Do you, maybe, have a recipe I could use?"
"Of course," she said before motioning for me to follow her. "Come on in."
I followed after her, closing the door behind me, and stopped at the kitchen counter patiently. As she searched for a notebook in her drawer, I subtly glanced around, taking in the inside of Wanda's apartment. I'd never actually been in it before, but the minimal décor was very her. She didn't have many knickknacks and everything on display served a purpose.
"There's some recipes in here," she said, grabbing my attention. She slid the notebook across the counter and leaned forward with a smile. "Take your pick."
I flicked through it briefly, smiling at the notebook filled with recipes, all in Wanda's neat, cursive handwriting.
"Thank you," I said gratefully, looking up and catching her staring.
She perked up, clearing her throat as she nodded in response before looking the other way. Cute.
"Are you working on Sunday?" I asked with a raised brow, before rolling my eyes playfully. "What am I saying? Of course you're not. Not with that wrist."
She chuckled, still avoiding my eyes. "I'm not."
"Well, why don't you come over for her birthday? You can help me cook her a meal. Or rather, I can help you cook it since I'll probably screw it up."
Finally meeting my eyes, she smiled with amusement. "Are you sure?"
I gave her a knowing look, ignoring the butterflies swirling in my stomach as she held my gaze with her intense dark eyes. "Yes, I'm sure. Anna will love to celebrate with you. And..." I pursed my lips, taking a leap of faith and adding, "and I'd love it, too."
Wanda let out a quiet laugh. "You would, would you?"
I straightened up, smile widening. "Yeah, I would."
She tilted her head, studying me with a curious smile. "Well then, I clearly can't say no."
Something stirred in my chest the longer she watched me and I oddly liked it. It was obvious that Wanda was a beautiful girl with a heart of gold, but I guess I hadn't really acknowledged that I may have had feelings for her until now. And I didn't mind one bit.
"Great," I finally found my words, nodding slightly. "I'll see you Sunday."
She mirrored my expression, saying, "See you Sunday," and I knew I couldn't wait until then.

Shang Chi x Reader (ONE SHOT)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
( A request from @theboisarehere342 this one was fun to write and was also on my idea list! It was tricky to write, because there's so many first date ideas I would like to write . But I hope you like this one! I am working on developing some headcanons. I’ll have some posted this week.)
Storyline: Nothing is more romantic than a first date
Characters: Shang Chi x Reader
The early morning bird chirped alongside the street and pecked mindlessly. Every so often you could hear the echoing sounds of families still snoring away. At the bus stop you sat on the bench with your bag and began reading your favorite book. Even though your life was routine, there was one part of your day that you always look forward to. It was the mysteriously cute guy in uniform who always rode the same bus route as you every morning. It was something about his muscular but boyish body that made him attractive, but his handsome face told a more meaningful story.
After a few moments you finally got onto your bus and sat in your same seat. Right when the bus door slid close and seconds from departing, someone frantically knocked on the bus doors to open. The bus driver opened the doors and the mysteriously handsome guy came upon the bus being short breath while simultaneously thanking the bus driver for letting him get on. The bus was really packed this morning and the only seat that was left was the one next to you. He gradually walked down the aisle until he saw the open seat next to yours and politely asked if he could sit next to you. You blushed and frantically moved your bag so he could sit.
“That’s a really good book you're reading,” he pointed toward your book.
“Oh yeah I love this author’s work, it's pretty amazing so far” you smiled and tried to stay cool.
“I always see you a lot around here but not like stalking you or anything” he rambled . “But anyway.. I was wondering if you wanted to go out some time?”
“Y-yeah I would love to” you stuttered.
. “Oh uh my name is Shang Chi by the way” he awkwardly showed his hand for a handshake
“(Y/N)” you shook his hand and giggled at the handshake. You both exchange numbers and arrange plans for your first date.
It was the day of your first date you were a nervous wreck. You constantly change outfits hoping you settle for the right one. Your anxiety was increasing but you couldn’t help but feel excited to finally meet him.
Shang Chi texted stating he was outside. As you made your entrance out the door Shang Chi stared at the beautiful sight of you. The jeans you had on hugged your curves in just the right places and your hair was down rather than your same updo.
“You look amazing compared to me,” he said. “All I have on is a average shirt and jacket”
You looked at his clothes and thought nothing more was perfect than the outfit he had on. It hugged his body in just the right way to show off his beautiful toned arms. His hair was neatly combed with a few stray curls wilting in the front. He looked even sexier seeing him for the first time without his uniform on.
You examined him head to toe and gave him a sly smirk. “Trust me you look fine” you reassured him.
Shang Chi took you to a nice local food spot and you guys talked all night long until the place closed. You began to rub your arms from the cool temperature in the air. Shang Chi noticed and offered you his varsity jacket. You wrapped yourself in his jacket and smelled his distinctive scent. His warm hearted demeanor has mesmerized you and you couldn’t believe how genuine he was. You just weren’t ready for this night to end.
When you guys made it back to your apartment. You began to take off Shang Chi’s jacket and offer it back.
“No you can keep it, just give it back to me on our second date” he flirted.
“What a smooth way to see if there will be a second date” you laughed. “You’re just in luck because I would like to see you more often other than on the bus” you softly spoke.
“Me too,” he added. He leaned in for a kiss and you met his lips with yours. His kiss was soft and felt like summer rain.
“Have a good night” he warmly spoke before you entered your apartment.
“Good night Shang Chi” your lips barely form words. You closed your door and ran your fingers through your hair. You have read hundreds of books and watched countless romance shows reliving their love stories. But somehow in the midst of your own life, you couldn't believe that just maybe you could be living in the love story of your own.

the sound of the rain tapping against your living room window was the only thing keeping you awake as you lay across your sectional couch, snuggling a blanket that had been closest to you. jean was working late again, which was becoming more and more common as the days went on. at first you hadn’t minded; you knew that he was a prized detective, and that the agency valued his work. plus, jean loved his job. he raved about it constantly; about his coworkers, the crazy people he encountered while conducting investigations, even about his ‘emotionless, ocd stricken’ boss that always scolded him for filling out his paperwork sloppily. and you loved to listen, loved to see that excited glint in his eyes when he got all worked up, the genuine happiness on his face as he reminisced over a recently solved case, and hearing the animation and liveliness in his voice. but you were starting to feel…rather forgotten. you knew it wasn’t jean’s fault, and you would never blame him for it. jean would never neglect you on purpose, you were his world and he never let you forget it. but with him working all day, then coming home so late at night…you saw him for thirty minutes a day, max. and that was if you were lucky enough to wake up right as he was about to leave for work and engage him in brief conversation. it was starting to weigh on you, and you didn’t know how much longer you could bare it.
you didn’t want to bring it up, though, the fact that it bothered you. you had thought about it multiple times, had even started to at one point, you just didn’t want him to think it was his fault. you also didn’t want to hold him back in his career…you would never forgive yourself, and – fuck…it was so complicated. you let out a huff, pulling the blanket you were holding closer to your chest and taking in a deep whiff of jean’s lingering scent that stuck to the blanket like glue. the scent comforted you, and you allowed yourself to close your eyes. you were exhausted. today had been one of the days that you had managed to catch jean on his way out the door, so you had easily been awake since 6 in the morning. it was now 2 am, and you were just barely clinging to consciousness. you had wanted to wait up until jean got home, but…your body needed sleep. craved it. so, you finally put your troubled thoughts to rest, telling yourself you’d fret over them later, and fell into the outstretched and waiting arms of dreamland.
it was nearing four in the morning when jean finally unlocked the door to your shared apartment and stepped inside, shouldering off his jacket and hanging it limply on the coatrack. he sighed, rubbing at his temples as he toed off his shoes and padded into the kitchen to set down his keys and get a glass of water. his head was pounding, and negative thoughts were swimming around competitively in his brain, fighting over which could hold his attention the longest. he had many things nagging at him that night: the unsolved case that lay practically untouched and collecting dust on his desk, the long lecture that his boss had given him as he was leaving the office about his performance being ‘unsatisfactory’ for someone of his rank, and most importantly, he missed you. he missed you so fucking badly that it was affecting his ability to focus, which in turn effected his work performance, hence the long ass lecture that deputy director levi had given him as he left only half an hour before. he knew that he probably should have listened to said lecture and probably taken advice, as well, but all he could think about as levi rambled on and on about his slow performance was getting home to you. seeing you. loving you. touching you. tasting you- he spilled water on his pants and cursed, scrambling to grab a towel to wipe up the mess.
unfortunately, he cursed rather loudly as the water had made contact with his slacks, and he had unintentionally roused you from your sleep. you made your way sleepily into the kitchen and yawned, stretching your arms up above your head and gaining jean’s attention. he frowned upon seeing your sleep tousled appearance, giving you a once over then moving to pull you into a hug. you nestled your face into his neck, closing your eyes and inhaling his scent.
“shit, i’m sorry, baby…were you asleep?” he murmured, gently carding his hands through your hair. you nodded, moving away a little so that you could see his face.
“’s fine, i had only been asleep for an hour or so, anyways…you okay? i heard you curse…you sounded really mad.” jean’s face reddened, and he looked down.
“i was going to get myself some water and accidentally spilled it on myself. it was a clumsy, stupid mistake, but it’s what i get for coming home at four in the morning.” you scoffed a little, training your eyes on the slowly disappearing stain on his pants.
“hard day at work? you seem tense.” you reached out a hand and ran it down the length of his left bicep, gently rubbing your thumb against his skin. he perked up a bit at your touch.
“nothing that i can’t handle. come on, y/n, let’s get you into bed. you look like you’re going to pass out any minute now.” he moved to guide you into your shared bedroom, but you planted your heels into the ground and shook your head, shooting him an intense look. he paused, puzzled at your actions.
“i don’t want to sleep. i never get to see you, this may be the only chance i get to talk to you until next fucking week.” your words came out harsher than you intended them to, and jean inhaled sharply upon hearing them.
“i know…fuck, i’m sorry, y/n. i know that i work too much, i really need to stop, but-“
“i know. the case is important.”
“and levi-“
“is up your ass about it, i know. you’ve told me.” jean lets out a defeated sigh and moved to the kitchen table, pulling out a chair and plopping into it. he put his head in his hands and grasped at his hair harshly. you moved to sit next to him and waited for him to speak.
“this job is really important. and if i solve this case, the bonus i’d get would be big enough to keep us comfortable for many years to come…i don’t want to jeopardize that, but also…our relationship…” he paused and looked up at you, taking in your appearance and analyzing your face. the corners of your lips looked like they were struggling not to turn downwards. he sighed. “how are you feeling?”
“…forgotten.” the words hung heavy in the air, and jean stayed silent, so, you continued. “i know it’s not what you intend to make me feel. you go to work with me in the back of your mind everyday, you come home to me and kiss my cheeks every time you get in bed next to me…i feel you do it. but…you’re never here…and it just…it makes me feel-“
“no. no, no, no. y/n…fuck. i’ll take less hours if you want me to…so that we can spend more time together. i’d probably have to work on the weekends sometimes, but-“
“no, that’s not what i want.” you stood from your chair, looking down at him in a way that he couldn’t describe. he ran another hand through his hair. were you about to break up with him? honestly, he wouldn’t blame you if you did.
“then what do you want? i-“ and then you were on him, like a lion pouncing on its prey, your lips claiming his roughly and passionately. your tongue slipped into his mouth, igniting a fiery dance that had him moaning and gasping for air. he reached up and grabbed onto your waist, pulling you on top of him so that you were straddling his lap. his hips involuntarily bucked up and ground against yours, causing moans to fall from both of your lips at the friction. soon enough you were dry humping each other like horny teenagers who had never been touched; his hands were gripping your hips so tightly that they were sure to leave finger-shaped bruises in their wake. not that you minded. you could feel that familiar coil wound tight in your core, threatening to unravel at any moment when he stopped his ministrations completely, causing a frustrated whine to slip from your mouth. he smirked at this, one of his fingers trailing from your belly button, up through the valley of your breasts and up the side of your neck, finally landing on your lips. you took it into your mouth with hesitation, greedily sucking on his digit and pulling a delicious moan from him.
“fuck, baby…look at you.” he pushed a second finger into your mouth and you were quick to start lapping at that one as well, swirling your tongue around the both of them as if it were his cock that were in your mouth. “you missed me so badly, didn’t you, slut? i can feel your wetness seeping through your shorts and getting onto my pants. so needy…” you started to move away from his hand so you could answer, but he shoved his fingers back into your throat and you almost gagged, but stopped yourself. “ah, ah, ah. talk tomorrow…tonight you are mine.” jean’s pupils were blown wide with lust as he watched a string of saliva drip down your chin and onto your chest, slowly running down the slope of one of your breasts.
jean removed his fingers from your mouth, leaving you to gasp for air, and carried you to your bedroom, tossing you not so gently onto the bed and descending on you almost as quickly as you had gotten settled. his lips hungrily reclaimed yours and his hands were desperately mapping every inch of your body, skimming over the soft curve of your hips and the smooth skin of your waist, leaving a trail of fire in their wake. he stopped to appreciate your breasts, grabbing and caressing the supple flesh before tweaking your nipples and causing you to arch into his touch and gasp into his mouth. in response to this, he growled hungrily and grabbed onto your throat and squeezed, progressively tightening his hold on you as time passed. his tongue moved effortlessly against yours, you just fit so perfectly against each other and it felt so agonizingly good. you were beginning to see stars from the pressure on your windpipes, and just as your vision began to get spotty he let go, gently rubbing at your now red skin in a sort of sadistic apology.
“god, you’re such a slut…took it so good. hold up your arms.” he demanded, and you complied, lifting your arms up above your head so he could pull your shirt off and throw it away from you, leaving it forgotten and in a heap on the floor. and then he was kissing you again, but your neck this time. his kisses were so passionate and rough that you were still gasping for breath, moaning every so often when he decided to take your skin in between his teeth and bite down, leaving a deep purple mark behind. his lips found his way down to the waistband of your pants, and he looked up to you to ask for permission. you nodded impatiently and lifted your hips so that he could pull the unwanted fabric away from you, leaving you bare and vulnerable in front of him. you were completely naked before him now, and he hungrily drank in the sight.
“fuck, you’re so fucking gorgeous…and all mine. now open your legs for me, baby…let me see how wet you are.” his voice was husky and deep, which shot a pang of warmth straight to your core. you complied to his request and slowly opened your legs. his eyes were hooded as if he were drunk on expensive wine as he took in the sight before him, and he braced his hands on your thighs, caressing the sensitive skin next to your center. it sent a shiver down your spine, and you whimpered at the contact. your eyes locked with his in a silent beg to touch you, to give you the orgasm he had denied you not that much earlier. jean gave you a smug smirk, then dove in between your thighs, his tongue assaulted your clit.
you let out a strangled cry at the sudden sensation of his tongue against the most sensitive parts of your body, and your hips jerked up in retaliation, but he held you down by placing one hand on your lower belly and another anchored your left thigh to the bed, keeping you spread before him as he greedily lapped at your fold. his name was falling off your tongue in pants now, and you felt yourself nearing your release. you thighs trembled as he continued his vicious assault with his tongue. you weren’t going to last much longer, you could feel yourself tipping over the edge, you were starting to see white-
“holy FUCK, jean, oh my fucking god, yes.” he had shoved two fingers into you that were now curling up and hitting your sweet spot with every thrust. a prideful smile was ever so present on jean’s lips.
“yeah? you like that baby? come on, cum for me…yes, that’s it…good girl…” you bucked your hips up to meet every thrust of his fingers as you rode out your orgasm. his tongue was still attached to your clit the entire time, causing you to violently shudder at the overstimulation. jean waited a few moments before removing his fingers from your heat and licking them clean, making eye contact with you all the while.
“so sweet…” he mused, moving to kiss you on the lips. he grabbed your chin and gently prodded your mouth open, then spit into it before forcing your mouth shut again. you swallowed and moaned at the absolute lewdness of the action itself. you could taste yourself on your tongue…it was surprisingly hot. “you like the taste, baby? make sure to swallow every drop…”
“yes…fuck.” your head lolled back as you reached down to palm his erection through his trousers, pulling a delicious groan from his mouth. his head fell back at the sensation of finally being touched, but only allowed you to touch him briefly before backing away and impatiently undoing his belt and pants and undressing himself. soon you found yourselves face to face with each other, his member lined up with your entrance. he leaned down to capture your mouth with his once more before pushing into you. you both moaned at the feeling of him filling you up to the fucking brim, the tip of his cock kissed your cervix barely as he finally bottomed out inside of you. jean loosed a shuddering breath and looked down at you to meet your eyes.
“fuck, i love you.” and you were kissing again, his hips starting to rapidly piston in and out of you, causing the headboard of your bed to slap against the wall violently. you couldn’t find it in you to care. the feeling of him filling you then pulling all the way out just to fill you to the brim over and over again was bringing tears to your eyes, and the added pressure of his hand squeezing at your throat was making you see stars. soon enough you were coming undone once more, moaning loudly and arching your back off of the bed as your walls squeezed around jean’s cock, causing him to hiss out a string of curses. you were gripping at his shoulders to get him to give you a minute to come down from your high, but he just kept fucking you through your orgasm, his eyes trained on the delicious image of him thrusting in and out of you and reveling in the lewd sounds your bodies were making. you whined and scratched at his back to get him to give you a breather, which normally would have spurred him on to go faster, but this time he pulled out of you completely and sat up on the edge of the bed, pulling you into his lap.
“jean…what’re you doing? you didn’t get to-“
“oh no, baby, we’re not done yet…” jean bucked his hips up a bit and his cock rubbed against your entrance. the friction pulled a moan from both of your lips and your head fell back on his shoulder from the exhaustion that both of your orgasms had brought you. jean reached up and grabbed your chin, forcing you to look ahead into the full-length mirror you had in your room. your face flushed at the image before you and jean laughed seductively, tightening his grip on your jaw and slipping his ring and middle fingers into your mouth.
“look at you…such a slut for me…think you can take my cock one more time?” you nodded aggressively and squirmed a bit in his lap, desperately trying to get him back inside of you. “patience…patience, baby. so greedy…” he chuckled and gently lifted your hips before sinking you down onto him in one fell swoop. he wasted no time in allowing you to adjust and started fucking up into you at a relentless pace, causing you to scream out and dig your nails into his arms.
“look at you taking my cock so well…look how much your body is enjoying being used like a toy…fuck, you’re so fucking gorgeous bouncing on my cock like that.” your head threatened to loll back again at the intensity of his thrusts and he forcibly turned your head to face the mirror again, your eyes locking in the reflection. “if you look away, i stop. watch it. watch me fuck your tight little cunt until you can’t take it anymore.” you whined at this and trained your eyes on the mirror, keeping eye contact with him for a lot of it.  but you knew you weren’t going to last, and he knew it too; he could feel your walls constricting around him and his cock twitching in return, threating to spill inside of you at any moment. the sight alone was more erotic than you had ever thought it would be, and it was turning you on more than you thought possible. you let out a particularly loud moan, and jean knew you were tipping over the edge for the third time.
“that’s it, baby, cum for me.” so you did. “good girl…good girl…cum all over my cock. ah, ah, ah…keep your eyes as the mirror. i want you to watch as i fill you to the brim with my cum. i want you to watch it leak out of you as i pull out of you. keep your eyes on me.” you almost came again at his words but he didn’t give you the chance; he came inside of you after one last particularly bruising thrust up into you, his hips stuttering a bit as he came down from his release.
the two of you sat there for a few moments to catch your breath. jean ran his hands up and down your arms to soothe you, then slowly pulled out of you. cum dripped out of you and onto the comforter beneath you. you let out another moan at the sight and jean chuckled, reaching around your bodies to gather the cum that had leaked out of you on one of his fingers, then pushed it back inside of you. you spasmed a bit at this, it was too much.
“jean, i can’t, it’s too much-“ he kissed your temple and pulled his finger back out of you, laughing softly.
“i know, baby…but you don’t want any of it to go to waste, do you?”
yeah…you two regularly incorporated mirrors into your sex life after that…

i won’t say (i’m in love) | kageyama t.
pairing: kageyama tobio x gn!reader
wc: 1,935 words. fluff, high school crushes. hinata being a wingman lol.
summary: an encounter at kageyama’s favorite spot in school leads him to meet someone that makes him feel all sorts of confusing feelings.
a/n: so if it’s not yet obvious by the title, this was inspired by the song from hercules, i won’t say i’m in love :D this idea has been on my drafts for quite some time and i finally had the chance to work on it yaaay
Tumblr media
The first time Kageyama saw you, you were in front of the vending machine he frequented.
It was lunch break, and with ten minutes left before the next period, he figured he could get his favorite banana milk. He was walking towards the area that hid the machine away from prying and hungry eyes. Kageyama was confident that no one was familiar with its spot, especially since the machine always seemed to never go out of stock of his go-to drinks. But boy was he wrong.
The instant that he rounded the corner, he heard the recognizable thud of the drink box falling and someone getting it from its confines. He took a peek and saw a glimpse of a student cheerfully sticking the straw to the pack, humming as they take a sip of the milk. With a contented smile, the student walks off and passes him, giving a side glance and showing off a smirk to Kageyama.
How odd, the setter thought. Though he didn't dwell on it for any much longer, opting to get his own share of the milk. However, when he stood in front of the machine, his heart lurched upon seeing the red light that indicated not available. Kageyama's eyes shoot wide open and he whipped his head towards the direction you went, sending a glare to your retreating back as he realized you took the last milk. Oh, he was furious and poor Hinata was on the receiving end of that sour mood for the rest of the day.
Tumblr media
Since that unfateful encounter, Kageyama has been noticing your presence everywhere. And it was an understatement to say that he didn't find you annoying. He remembers how you went under his nose to grab that last box of milk and it still infuriates him.
Whenever you walk by in the hallways, he can't help but follow you with a pointed look on his face. To any outsider, Kageyama looked as if he was sending curses towards your way, at least that was what Hinata thought. But actually, the setter was trying to figure out who you were and why he hadn't seen you in the campus before that day. One day, his curiosity finally got the best of him and he asked Hinata about his concern.
"Huh? What do you mean you don't know Y/N," the orange-haired boy replied. Hinata gave his friend a puzzled look, and as if the cogs in his mind stopped turning, a teasing grin made it way to his face. "Ah, so that's why you've been looking at them like a madman recently. You're so dumb, Kageyama! How could you not recognize them, they're literally our class president."
Hinata was right. That time, Kageyama was dumbfounded when they returned to the classroom and saw you chatting with your friends in the corner. He was entranced by you and the way you were laughing at one of the jokes that he hit his hip in the sharp edge of the desk. He shrieked, causing you to turn your head towards him with worry cast over your face.
It didn't hurt that bad. He was massaging that spot on his hip when you silently stalked towards him. You stood by his side, placing a hand on his back and asking if he was okay. It took all of Kageyama's willpower not to lose his composure in front of you, but Hinata caught on his actions. In that moment, an idea popped up in Shoyo's mind.
"Hey, Pres," he put an arm around Kageyama's shoulders, wiggling his eyebrows at him. "Can I ask you a favor? Can you bring my friend here to the clinic and get his injury checked out? I'm sure it's only minor but we can't be too sure." Kageyama angrily nudged Hinata, a string of stupid, you idiot falling on his lips.
"Yeah, no problem. Come on, Kageyama, let's get you to the nurse."
He was immediately flustered. Kageyama swears his face has never felt that hot when you took his shoulders and wrapped them on your own, acting as his crutch as the two of you walked to the clinic.
Kageyama cleared his throat, his eyes looking at anywhere but you. "H-hey, I'm not completely paralyzed. I can walk on my own."
You laughed, "It's fine. You can rely on me sometimes, you know. Besides, I don't want our star player sitting out of the games." A moment of silence clouds over the two of you on the rest of the way, but just before entering the clinic, you say, "I know you love volleyball. You should enjoy it without any injury."
Kageyama thinks that maybe you were much more than a milk thief after all.
Tumblr media
Hinata doesn't know what happened after he sent you and Kageyama to the clinic. But he has a slight idea about what changed when he sees that his teammate has been talking more to you at every chance that he gets, walking by your desk and starting up conversations when he can.
In mornings, he notices that Kageyama always has two packs of milk in hand. And when you enter the room, he sees how he lights up, a shy smile forming on his face as you wave a hand and walk to his desk. He couldn't believe his own eyes when he watches Kageyama give you the other milk and he comes to a conclusion that he bought it just for you.
In gym class, Hinata observes the way Kageyama is extra pumped up to be against you in the 100m dash activity. He sees the playful taunts he sends your way and how you gladly react to them and indulge Kageyama in his competitiveness. He honestly thinks Kageyama won't let you off the hook but he's shocked, when just a few centimeters away from the finish line, he fakes a trip and falls down on the ground. You pass him in high spirits, jumping up and down as you exclaim that you won against the King of the Court. And Hinata knows that the normal Kageyama would be pouting and pissed off at his loss.
But this wasn't a normal Kageyama. He figures that this was a Kageyama in love.
Tumblr media
The pair was assigned to set up the net and prepare the gym before practice started. They were in the storage room getting the equipment when Hinata started teasing Kageyama about his little crush.
"I don't know what you are talking about." The taller boy strongly denied all the accusations that Hinata was throwing at him. "Just shut up and help me here."
Hinata chuckled like an evil villain and continued to spew obvious facts. "You give them milk every morning. You unconsciously make them laugh with your not so funny jokes. You look out for them during gym class more than their friends does. You make time before practice to say goodbye before they go home."
"So, what is your point?"
His friend smirked, "Kageyama Tobio, you have a crush."
Kageyama stood frozen, his hands went limp by his sides at the sudden realization. He was aware that in his recent interactions with you, he'd sometimes feel sick, like he'd get nervous around you, his breathing becomes unstable and his palms get sweaty.  He has noticed it himself how the surroundings would turn brighter whenever you walked in the hallways or how his own heart would beat twice as fast whenever you were approaching him in his desk.
He didn't know what that feeling was called. He didn't want to give it a name. But Hinata just had to point it out. Frustrated that his friend called him out on his adoration for you, Kageyama stayed silent and started playfully punching Hinata. The poor boy was only saved when they heard footsteps come in, and Kageyama was quick to push Hinata away and avoid your gaze when you walked in.
Hinata was grumbling as he walked out of the scene, leaving you two some time to figure out your mutual feelings.
Kageyama immediately crouched down and hid his face on his hands, making you laugh at his awkwardness. He inquired in a muffled voice, "How much of that did you hear?"
You answered him truthfully, narrating the moment when you stopped to hide behind the doors was when you heard Hinata starting to tease him about his little crush. "I'm honestly flattered, Kageyama. Though I am also surprised that Hinata was watching us closely. Or should I be creeped out?"
He glanced up at you, standing from his position and going off on a tangent about how he also thought that Hinata was looking into things too much. He complained that instead of thinking about his love life, Hinata could've used that time to practice his spikes and jumps.
At this point, Kageyama was rambling and though you thought it was endearing, you needed him to pause and breathe. "Can you stop talking for literally ten seconds?" This seemed to work as he shut up and straightened his back, his eyes gazing straight into yours.
Kageyama realized, "Why are you here anyway?"
You smiled and brought out something from your pocket. "I wanted to give this to you." It was the banana milk that he loves. "I saw that it was the last one in the vending machine. I figured you'd want to have it. Have a drink before or after practice."
You thought it wasn't humanly possible to see eyes literally sparkling, but Kageyama was giving you proof of that as he excitedly took the drink from your hands. The corners of his mouth turned upward in a soft smile, and you thought that was the prettiest that he has ever been. He remembers the moment he first saw you and laughs, "You didn't have any problems before taking the last available milk for yourself."
It was your turn to get shocked, hiding a blush behind your palms. You also recall that incident, "Stop, I didn't do that on purpose. Was it my fault that they haven't restocked on that day?”
Kageyama scoffed, "Yeah, right." You pouted, crossing your ams on your chest as you looked away from him. "Thank you."
He has put the straw in the opening of the pack, taking a sip of the milk when you asked him for the second time. "So, you like me, huh?" Kageyama almost choked on his drink, and you laughed before patting his back to help him calm down. Some liquid were spilling from his lips and you were quick to wipe it with your hand. The action was enough to render Kageyama speechless, so he put some distance between the two of you.
You were taking some tissue from your bag to give to Kageyama when you also shared a confession of your own. "If it makes you feel any better, I like you too."
"I'm free this weekend. If you want to take me out a date, you know my number." He looked at you expectantly, the words yes, I'd love to go out with you resting on the tips of his tongue but he wasn't able to let it out. Because in a few seconds, you boldly took a step closer and pressed your lips to his cheek. His face felt warm and his heart was beating like crazy.
"I'll be expecting your call, Tobio."
In that moment, the feelings that he kept on a tightly closed lid were overflowing and it was the affirmation that he needed to know that he was already in too deep for you.

Tumblr media
Being best friends with Bakugou Katsuki had its perks like he would help you study because “If you won’t leave me alone might as well keep up with me.” (His exact words) And you got to hang out with his other friends and his other best friend, Kirishima.
Bakugou has noticed that you have had a liking for Kirishima and would not drop it. “God, just say something to shitty hair already, I am sick of you staring at him all the time. I’m trying to teach you this new move listen dumbass.” He said to you when he caught you staring at Kirishima during training.
“I was admiring his form, shut up boom-boom boy.” You spat back, hitting him with your quirk.
“Yeah right, his form, and that didn’t even hurt.” He laughed brushing off where you had hit him.
“I wasn’t aiming to hurt you, dumbass.” You said this time aiming at his head as he tried to dodge your oncoming attack.
A few weeks had passed and you and the rest of your group were planning what you would all do on your next long weekend. Mina insisted you all go on a road trip stopping at her house one night since she had enough room for everyone as long as everyone was cool with sharing sleeping spaces. Everyone agreed it seemed like fun, well almost everyone.
“Why would I want to spend a long weekend with you extras?” Bakugou questioned.
“Bakugoubro, you’ll have a great time with us.” Kaminari smiled a toothy grin to Bakugou and Kirishima joined in.
“Yeah, it wouldn’t be very mainly to skip out on time with your friends," Kirishima added.
“Plus, if you don’t hang out with us, who else will put up with you?” Sero chimed in causing everyone but the boy in question to laugh.
“Fine, so you guys stop annoying me.” He gave in and you smiled to yourself thinking about a weekend with your friends and especially with Kirishima.
After getting permission from Aizawa to leave the dorms for the weekend and Sero borrowing his family’s minivan the plan all fell into place.
“We can take turns driving every couple of hours!” Mina exclaimed climbing into the passenger seat next to Sero in the driver’s seat. Behind them in the middle row were Bakugou and Kaminari. You and Kirishima were in the very back because Bakugou claimed he would get car sick in the back (a lie he came up with so you could sit next to Kirishima, unknown to you) and Kaminari claimed he would be best in the middle so he could charge everyone’s phones fairly.
“let me know if you need more room, it would be unmanly of me if I made you uncomfortable.” Kirishima smiled at you as you guys got situated in your seats.
“I’m okay, thanks, Kiri.” You smiled back at him.
After a few hours, you started to feel yourself get more and more tired despite it now being Mina's driving shift and she was not the most graceful driver.
“Hey, Y/N you look pretty tired,” Kirishima whispered.
“hmm.” You nodded in reply your eyelids becoming heavier. You tried to fight the tiredness, but you failed, finally letting the sleep take over.
Kirishima was frozen in place as your head plopped onto his shoulder, he knew that if he moved and woke you up it would be super unmanly. He would never let anyone wake up because of him, especially you. Mina looked in the mirror and smiled at the sight of you and whispered to the rest of the car to look. With that Kirishima blushed when the rest of the boys turned towards you two Kaminari giving him a thumbs up. Bakugou rolled his eyes at the sight but he was secretly happy for his best friends.
After some more time and everyone having driven, you had finally arrived at Mina’s house. “Welcome to my humble abode!” Mina smiled while gesturing toward the house. “It is a little cramped but, we have 2 spare rooms.” She explained.
“So two rooms and six of us?” Sero asked.
“Well three rooms including mine, so two per room. I’m assuming Y/N in my room then the rest of you can split up.” Mina suggested.
“No way am I sleeping in the same room as any of these loud idiots. I’ll be with you raccoon eyes.” Bakugou complained.
“I am not sure my parents will be okay with you in my room Bakugou.” Mina started.
“Parents love me-“ started but was cut off by your laughing.
“Bakugou my parents have known you since you were in diapers, and they cannot stand you sometimes.” You laughed even more.
“Shut up ditz, I don’t want to be stuck with you all night either. I’ll talk to raccoon eyes parents. Also, sparky you cannot room with Y/N last time you guys had a ‘sleepover’ you short-circuited and shocked Y/N and you both had to see recovery girl.” Bakugou reminded you before walking into the house to convince Mina’s parents of his sleeping arrangement.
“Hey, that was awesome, and we were fine.” Kaminari protested.
“It’s okay dude, we can room together, finish out the smash bros tournament we started in the van.” Sero offered, and Kaminari happily agreed.
“Looks like we are roomies.” Kirishima smiled at you pulling his stuff and yours out of the van.
“I can take that.” You said pointing to your bag but, Kirishima shook his head and insisted he got it. “Thanks, Kiri, you really don’t have to though.” You say feeling bad that he is taking your stuff.
“It’s okay Y/N you’re stuck rooming with me, it’s the least I can do.” He offered smiling, a faint blush dusting his cheeks.
“I am not stuck with you, Kiri you would have been my first choice.” You smile back your face starting to heat up. Kiri looks at you a little too long before he realizes he is holding both your stuff and his own.
“I should go bring these to the room then.” He coughed out walking into the house.
“Well, that damn blasty brat convinced my parents that he would be the best to sleep in my room, so I guess I will show the rest of you where you will be staying.” Mina sighed not looking forward to her sleeping arrangements.
“Hey, I am a delight.” Bakugou yelled from somewhere in the house.
“Yeah, can’t wait. Anyways Kaminari and Sero you guys can take my brother's old room since you won’t mind the smell. Kirishima and Y/N you guys can take the guest bedroom.” Mina said pointing to each room. Kirishima nodded and took your stuff into the guest room upon entering he turned to you his face matching his hair.
“Uh Y/N… there is only one bed. I can ask Mina if she has a spare futon or something if you want me to, it would be super unmanly to make you share the bed with me an-“ you cut off his rambling.
“Kiri, it is okay, the bed is pretty big anyways there is plenty of room I wouldn’t want you to be stuck on the floor. I promise it is okay.” You say hoping he does not realize your face is on fire from the idea of sharing a bed with the boy you have been in love with since your first year at UA.
“Well, if you are sure it is okay.” He says a little unsure himself.
“It is.” You reassure him.
When it was time to go to bed Kirishima was panicking when he was changing into his pajamas, what if he did something to make you uncomfortable or what if he does something stupid, but what he didn’t know is you were having the same worries as you changed in the bathroom. After you finished changing you knocked on the door to see if it was okay to come in.
“I’m changed, you can come in,” Kiri said, turning towards the door when you came in. “What side of the bed do you want?”
“Oh, uh I don’t care either is fine.” You said walking in and closing the door behind you.
“Okay, I will just take the side closer to me then.” He said getting into bed, practically on the edge.
“Kiri, you can move over some more, you don’t have to worry. I would be worried if you fell off the bed.” You laughed at his attempts to be as respectful as possible.
“I just don’t want to make you uncomfortable.” He explained once again.
“Kiri how many times must I tell you? You could never make me uncomfortable.” You said moving closer to him.
“Are you sure, because what if I like ended up cuddling you or something?” he blushed.
“I would be okay with that.” You admitted hiding your face under the sheets to avoid any further embarrassment. But your surprise Kirishima grabbed your waist and pulled you closer to him.
“This is okay?” he asked.
“It is more than okay.” You replied molding yourself into him.
“I’m glad.” He smiled into the back of your head making himself comfortable against your touch. You two quickly fell asleep in each other’s embrace.
At the moment you two were way too happy to be with one another you forgot about the four other members of your group. You were still in Kirishima’s embrace by morning, only have gotten more entangled with each other.
“Shitty hair, ditz get up!” Bakugou yelled as he opened your door. You both bolted up and backed away from each other only to have Bakugou scoff and close the door. “Don’t be late for breakfast.” He said from behind the door.
“We should probably get down there,” Kirishima said scratching the back of his neck.
“Yeah but first I gotta do something.” You said scooting closer to Kirishima.
“Do what?” he asked as you got closer.
“This.” You smirked, closing the distance between you two by crashing your lips into his, he quickly caught on and deepened the kiss letting the feelings across that you two have shared for each other for years. “Been wanting to do that for a long time.” You smiled when you broke apart.
“Me too.” He smiled back in his crooked smile. “So does this mean we are dating?”
“I hope so.” You said grabbing his hand and pulling him out of bed.
“Then it does.” He replied as you walked hand in hand to breakfast.
“I CALLED IT!” Mina yelled when you two walked into the kitchen.
“Sero owes me five bucks.” Kaminari said smirking at you two.
“Technically no, because we do not know when this happened.” Sero said to Kaminari making him frown.
“Who cares, can we eat,” Bakugou complained but you could have sworn when no one was looking he smiled to himself. “Told you, you should have told him.” He said to you under his breath.
“Did you know this whole time Katsuki?” you asked.
“Tch, know what?" He replied taking a bite of his food and refusing to keep talking on the matter. Kirishima grabbed your hand once again giving it a small squeeze and smiling at you when you turned your head towards him.
“I’m glad we went on this trip.” He smiled.
“Me too.” You smiled back Kiri.

comfortable silence is so overrated || h. styles
warnings: drunk harry, alcohol, swearing
word count: 2k
summary: in his drunken state, your friend, harry, makes a confession he would never make when sober...
Tumblr media
You couldn’t help but smile at the video of Gemma’s cat, cooing at the purring feline. When the video ended, Gemma pulled her phone away. “She’s so adorable,” you hummed, smiling at Gemma.
“She’s a devil,” she mumbled.
You chuckled, “Excuse me, I will not tolerate any Olivia slander. She is an angel.”
“You’re an angel.”
It was Harry.
Your mum looked over, snorting quietly at Harry’s confession. Gemma laughed, “Harry, you’re so drunk.”
“I’m not,” he replied, his words slurred slightly.
Anne sighed, “Your sister’s right. I think you’ve had a bit too much to drink.”
Harry sighed, laying his head back against his chair. Your mum and Anne exchanged an amused glance at the sight of an exasperated Harry trying to convince everyone he was completely sober. “I’m fine. I didn’t even drink that much, did I? Y/N. Y/N. Did I? I didn’t even drink that much,” he said, frowning.
He was like a child. Especially when he was drunk, he was one of the neediest people you’d ever met. You’d been on your fair share of nights out with Harry having known him for so long. You’d known him before it was even legal for the two of you to drink. You smiled softly, hoping to entertain his beliefs somewhat, “No, you didn’t.”
“Exactly. Y/N says I didn’t drink and if I didn’t drink then I can’t be drunk,” Harry said, turning to Anne.
“No, darling, she said you didn’t drink a lot. You still drank some. And you know how you are with alcohol,” Anne sighed before turning to your mother. “Come on, we’ll go and pay and then we’ll head off.”
Sat at a bar in central London with the Styles siblings, your mother and Anne wasn’t exactly how you expected to finish your evening. You were initially planning to spend your birthday at home alone, maybe call your mum. However, when Gemma called, asking if you wanted to go out for drinks, you agreed. And, upon arrival, you were pleasantly surprised to find your grinning mother with the Styles family.
Gemma slipped her phone into her pocket, pushing her chair away from the table the five of you had been sat at. She mumbled something about going to the toilet. This left you alone, opposite Harry. He stared at you, “I’m not drunk.”
You shook your head slightly, smiling, “I believe you.”
“I knew you’d understand,” he said.
Not entirely sure what he expected you to say to that, the two of you fell into a lull in the conversation. You finished your drink, your eyes flickering up to meet Harry’s. He sent you another smile. You returned it. Harry and yourself had known each other long enough to grow past the awkward silence. Silence between the two of you was never awkward anymore. It was comfortable.
Whenever Harry was drunk, as he was now, you’d learnt to just keep him happy. If you didn’t, he became pouty and needy. And when he was pouty and needy, he became particularly annoying. “Do you have a boyfriend?” Harry asked, his eyes seeming to struggle on one thing.
You almost wanted to laugh, “You know I don’t.”
“Interesting,” he mumbled to himself. “How come?”
Harry never usually dug into things like this. But, then again, he was never usually this drunk. You shrugged, slipping your arms into your jacket upon seeing Anne and your mother returning, “I’m not sure. Just haven’t met anyone yet.”
Harry stumbled into your house, nearly falling as he slipped his shoes off. Happily, you’d agreed to drive him home (being the only one who hadn’t consumed any alcohol over the evening). While the other three women were sober enough to get themselves home, whether that be via the underground or uber, Anne felt safer if you drove Harry home. You agreed, mainly due to the fact that Harry’s home was on the way to your house anyway. However, in a turn of events, Harry was now staying at yours for the night.
To put it simply, Harry had accidentally left his keys with Gemma. The two of you agreed that it would probably be better if he went to collect them in the morning, as it was nearing midnight by the time you reached Harry’s house and he realised he had no means of actually getting in. Besides, it wasn’t like you and Harry had never slept at one another’s houses anyway. Albeit the occasion being more rare now than it was when the two of you were younger.
Harry fell onto the couch, pulling one of the throws over his cold body. He grinned up at you goofily as you removed your jacket. “What are you smiling at?” you asked, your cheeks heating up under his gaze.
“You,” he said. “You’re cute.”
“Cute?” you chuckled. “Are we ten?”
He shrugged, “It’s true, though.”
You sighed, leaving him be on the couch. You walked through to the kitchen, pouring him a glass of water for the morning. Your head was full of all sorts of questions. Harry was being clingy, and more clingy than he normally was when intoxicated. You wanted desperately to shrug it off and think nothing of Harry’s odd behaviour.
Maybe it was down to how much Harry had drunk at the central London bar. Saying that though, you’d been with Harry on his first night out when he turned eighteen. And nobody is ever drunker than their first night out. People are excited to finally be able to legally drink and they’re not entirely sure where they stand on the scale of lightweights. Little Harry had been no exception to this. “Here,” you smiled, placing the glass down on the coffee table.
You noticed his trousers had been kicked off, lying in a puddle on the floor. He was still in his t-shirt - one of his graphic ones. The throw was pulled haphazardly over the majority of Harry’s body.
He stared up at you, “What would I do without you? Maybe die. I might. I know it’s hard to imagine that. But it could happen without you, Y/N. You’re like perfect, did you know that? You always take care of me. I want to take care of you. But you never need it. Let me look after you, Y/N. Please. Maybe I am drunk. Hey, Y/N… I think I might possibly be slightly drunk.”
He was rambling. You smiled sweetly at him as he continued on about how ‘there’s a chance he may be drunk’ and how ‘wonderful you were to him’.
You chuckled, “No shit.”
He placed his hand on his chest, “There is no need to be like that. Apologise for that right now.”
Stifling a laugh, you forced out, “Sorry, H.”
He grinned, “It’s okay. I still love you.”
You just smiled at him. As far as Harry was concerned, you hadn’t even picked up on his words. Inside, though, was a completely different story. You were having a complete meltdown at what your friend had just opted to tell you. You watched as he closed his eyes, the tension in his features draining away. You cleared your throat. His eyes snapped back open. “I’m gonna go to bed. If you wake up before me, there’s cereal in the cupboard.”
He nodded, “Goodnight. If your dreams get too scary, I’ll be down here to hold you if you so need it.”
You forced a tight-lipped smile, “Noted.”
Spinning on your heel, you left Harry alone to sleep on your couch. He looked content enough. Content. Why was he content after what he’d just told you? ‘I still love you’? As you brushed your teeth and got changed, finally crawling into bed after such a long evening. The cold sheets felt refreshing against your flushed body.
Maybe he only meant it in a platonic way? You and Harry had certainly told one another that you loved each other before. And that had always been purely platonic. But this felt different somehow. Almost like he meant to keep you up all night pondering his words.
When you were fifteen, you first noticed Harry in a romantic light. For the four years you’d known each other prior, you hadn’t felt anything other than mutually platonic admiration for one another. But then you developed somewhat of a crush on Harry. You never told him - God, you wouldn’t dream of confessing such a thing to him. Not while you were sober, anyway. And then feelings faded and you were relieved to be back to your platonic love.
It was only six months ago did those damned feelings return. You weren’t entirely sure what triggered it, but you’d been in such a predicament ever since. Harry telling you that he loved you only amplified them.
As you jogged downstairs the following morning, you’d almost forgotten Harry was staying at your house. So, when you walked into the kitchen to find him rummaging through your collection of cereal, you almost had a heart attack. “Morning,” he smiled as he turned around.
“Good morning,” you replied. “Did you sleep okay?”
“Like a baby,” he grinned. “Did you?”
God, this small talk was killing you. Of course Harry didn’t care how you slept. Nobody ever cares how somebody slept, they’re just trying to make conversation, hoping something they say sparks an interesting discussion topic. “Yeah,” you lied.
You hadn’t slept very well at all. You’d been thinking about Harry’s words up until about four hours ago. Thankfully, Harry didn’t see through your lie, “Good. I’m glad.”
He sat down at the table, spooning some Cornflakes into his mouth. You poured yourself a glass of orange juice, sitting down opposite him. The unusually bright London sun beamed in through your kitchen windows, casting the most glorious light over Harry’s tired eyes.
He pressed his hand to his forehead, wincing slightly. He had a headache. You weren’t exactly surprised after how much he drank last night. The way he was speaking, it felt like he was dodging something. It was awkward small talk. Like he was deliberately trying to leave something out of the conversation. And you had a bit of an inkling as to what that was.
You had hoped he wouldn’t remember his drunken confession. Then you wouldn’t have to talk about it and you could just go on, pretending it never happened. But no, his tone suggested he definitely remembered saying what he said.
The silence you fell into was ten times more comfortable than the desperate attempts at conversation the two of you had been sharing. You sipped your orange juice, staring out of the window at the cloudless sky. Harry ate his cereal quietly, not taking his eyes off the bowl. And, as you finished your drink, you realised you were exactly what you’d been mentally scolding Harry for the night prior.
You were content.
You were content sitting opposite Harry on a warm summer morning, the sun washed over the two of you as you both basked in the comfortable silence between you. It was a little moment of domesticated euphoria. But, to Hell with comfortable silence, “Harry.”
“Yeah?” he said, looking up at you, anxiety pooled in those green eyes of his.
“You know last night?”
“Yeah,” he replied quietly, his gaze returning to the bowl and the spoon between his fingers.
“You know what you said?”
“Yeah.”
“Did you mean it?”
“Yeah.”
“Yeah?” you repeated, though you weren’t entirely sure why you did.
“Yeah, I meant it. I mean it. I love you.”
He said it as if he’d had one of those ‘fuck it, you only live once’ moments in his head. His confidence seemed to pile up upon every syllable that he uttered. “Even though I swore at you?” you smirked, recounting the seconds of revelations last night.
He cracked a small smile, “Yeah. Even though you swore at me. Do you, you know, feel the same?”
You hesitated for a moment, revelling in the moment of sober confessions. You grinned across at the man sat opposite you.
“Yeah.”

Bestfriend (College!Childe x College!Reader) PART 1
note: hello! i'm going to be making an entire college au series for the genshin characters ehe. this is a pretty lengthy one so i had to cut it into two parts. i hope you enjoy!
word count: 4.4k
"Why can't I get this shit to work?!"
You checked the clock.
3:28 AM.
Great. You had a half-seven morning class with professor Cyrus, and yet, here you were. Baking cookies at 3:28 AM. Although, baking wasn't really the appropriate term for it. Maybe... burning was a better fit.
You weren't a culinary arts major; Far from it, actually. You were in a college course that needed immense analytical and critical thinking skills: Accounting. You loved your course. You were always amazed by how numbers can always add up properly if you analyzed all the transactions properly beforehand. It also gave you more patience to thoroughly understand each problem presented to you so that you'd end up with the right answer in the end.
Which is why you were so dumbfounded when your cookies looked like pieces of charcoal the moment you took them out of the oven.
You followed the recipe, didn't you? Why don't your baked goodies look like those gorgeous gooey chocolate chip cookies on the website?
That was the... fourth batch of cookies you made that night. Frustrated, you carelessly threw the still-hot baking sheet in the sink. You didn't even mind that there were crumbs and burnt cookie residue in your damp sink. Like, there were burnt cookies on your counter, on your dining table, and even on your stovetop. Why be bothered about the sink, right? You could clean it up in the morning, anyway.
"Why am I even doing this?" You sighed, eyeing how there was a bit of black smoke coming out of your oven. You opened a window and fanned it out to prevent the smoke detector from going off. You didn't need more nuances adding to your already dwindling patience.
Taking in the sight of the flour, sugar, and egg-coated workstation you had, you realized that baking just wasn't your forte. If only your boyfriend was interested in receiving his complete financial statements for the year, then maybe you'd have an easier time in thinking of a present for his birthday.
You looked at the calendar.
July 20th.
It was the day of Childe's birthday.
He informed you yesterday that his friends had invited him to go to a party the night of the 20th to celebrate his birthday, and you politely declined his offer for you to be his plus one. Of course, he was disappointed. You could notice by how his cerulean eyes drooped to the floor and how his thin, pink lips pushed themselves into a pout.
"But... You have to be there, _____." He whined, taking your hands in his.
"I know, Childe. But you know that I have to review my presentation for professor An's class. It's going to make or break my term grade." You were disappointed. You wanted to spend the entire day with Childe, maybe cuddled up in bed, eating hot pizza and watching Netflix. However, you knew how much he loved partying and hanging out with his friends- Kaeya, was it? and the other boys in their fraternity. You disapproved of his frat-boy party-going lifestyle, but you didn't want to impose, so you just kept it to yourself.
"But it's my birthday," He reasoned, voice laced with sadness.
"I know, darling. I know. We can still spend the entire afternoon together before you head out to party with your friends... If you want. You're free for the entire day, right?" Your voice faltered a bit, unsure of whether he'd accept your proposal or not.
"Mhm! I'd be more than happy to spend the whole afternoon tomorrow with you, babe. We can hit the amusement park, or maybe watch a movie, or maybe have a picnic, or..."
As Childe continued to ramble on about all the possible plans you could do tomorrow, you couldn't help but smile at him. How his demeanor changed, and how he could never seem to hold a grudge against you even if he was upset. He spoiled you so much and you wanted to let him know that you appreciate him as much as he loves you.
And... Here you were.
You didn't expect baking to be so hard. You thought that following a simple recipe would lead to a great outcome the first time around.
Look how that turned out for you. Your tokens of appreciation for Childe were there. In the sink, on the counter, on the dining table, and on the stovetop. All burnt and inedible.
"Fuck this baking thing, I'll just get Zhongli to help me before lunch." You muttered, taking off your apron and retreating to your couch. You didn't want to sleep in your bed because your clothes were still messy, but you were too tired to clean up (too pissed to even care, to be honest).
And so, you flopped on the couch and set an alarm for 6:00 AM before you drifted off to sleep, dreaming of burnt baking pans and noisy smoke detectors.
-
The annoying sound of your alarm rang in your ears like a never-ending mockery of how your life is going. Why do morning classes exist? Why do alarms exist?
You groggily rubbed your eyes and rolled off the couch, landing on the carpet with a soft "thud". You blindly felt around the coffee table to look for your phone. Upon feeling the silicone texture of your case, you pulled it towards your chest and squinted your eyes as the bright display of the lock screen glared against your eyeballs.
You opened your phone by using the passcode (0720, go ahead and guess what that means) and tapped on the green message icon to open your texts. You then quickly typed out a message for a certain history major.
[ Hey, Zhongli, mind if you help me out before lunch later so I could bake some cookies for Childe? ]
Sent 6:04 AM.
You looked up at the ceiling and waited for a while, already planning out your itinerary for the day. The ding! of your phone was heard, waking you more than you already were.
[ I don't see why not. I have a vacant period right before lunch. I'm off at 9:00 and I'm vacant until noon. Are you free then? ]
Received 6:06 AM.
You couldn't help but grin. Zhongli was so kind. He was Childe's friend since high school, and although you found him somehow... creepy because of the knowledge he possesses (Seriously, was his brain implanted with a computer chip or something?), you still considered him a good friend.
[ Thank you so much! Yeah, I only have one class today anyway. I'll meet you in front of the main building by 9:00. ]
Sent 6:08 AM.
You got up from the carpet and stretched for a bit, wincing when the small burn on your arm stung. You had a few cuts and burns on your hands, fingers, and arms because of how clumsy you were in the kitchen, but it was fine. Who doesn't fuck up from time-to-time
You headed to the kitchen to clean up. You dumped all the burnt biscuits into a large garbage bag, wiped the counters, and put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Most of the mess was already gone and disposed of, and you whispered to yourself that you could probably deep-clean later that evening after reviewing your presentation.
The ding! of your phone brought your attention back, and you smiled at Zhongli's response.
[ I'll see you then, _____. I appreciate you doing all this for Childe. ]
Received 6:15 AM.
You quickly made your way to your bedroom and grabbed different pieces to throw together a decent outfit. You assumed that Childe wouldn't let you go by the time that your little date would begin, so it's best to be prepared.
You hopped in the shower and did your morning routine, making sure to use your favorite body wash, which happened to be Childe's favorite scent. You dried your hair afterwards and threw on the outfit you prepared earlier. You checked your phone.
6:45 AM.
There weren't any new messages from Childe, so you assumed that he was still asleep. After all, it's his day-off from uni. The lucky bastard got to get one whole day without lectures, and the freest day you had still required you to attend one morning lecture.
"I have to rush to McDonald's if I want to make it in time," You whispered, grabbing your bag and slipping your shoes on before rushing out the door.
You wanted to buy Childe a nice breakfast before heading to your own class. So, you sprinted to the McDonald's just a corner away from your dorm and stood in line. You ordered his favorite breakfast meal: A big breakfast deluxe set with hot chocolate, five-piece nuggets, and a side of apple pie. You also ordered a McGriddle for yourself that you could sneakily bite out of in class.
Childe's apartment was right beside the McDonald's you went to, so it wasn't any trouble reaching where he was. You checked your phone again.
7:10 AM.
Crap. Twenty minutes until your lecture with professor Cyrus. Childe still seemed to be asleep, so you decided to leave his breakfast with the receptionist, Verr Goldet. She already knew who you were because of how often Childe invites you to his apartment.
"I'm really sorry to leave this with you, Verr. But I have to get to class in twenty minutes and I think that Childe is still asleep." You said sheepishly, placing the paper bag on her counter and fiddling with the strap of your bag.
"Oh, _____, you act as if I'm a stranger!" She laughed, taking the paper bag and placing it behind her. "Don't worry, I'll keep it warm for him. Would you like to leave a note?"
"Ah, yes please!" You took a piece of paper and a pen from your bag and scribbled a short message for the ginger.
Happy birthday, Childe! Have a hearty breakfast, I got your favorites. I'll see you later for lunch, okay? I love you! ♡
You tried to make your handwriting as neat as possible, and even added a messy doodle of the man himself. Although, it did look more like a potato than the man you were trying to draw.
"How cute you are." Verr sighed, "It must be nice to feel the wonders of youth."
"Thank you so much, Verr! I really have to get going if I want to get to uni in time."
"You're welcome, _____!"
You bid your farewells and headed out of the apartment's lobby, walking towards the shuttle stop nearest to you. You had at least fifteen minutes before professor Cyrus' class. The shuttle was about ten minutes away from uni, and it would take you a little over five minutes to get to his lecture hall. While waiting for the shuttle, you quickly tapped out a message for your boyfriend.
[ I left something with Verr for you downstairs. You better get it as soon as you wake up ♡ ]
Sent 7:15 AM.
The shuttle arrived as soon as you hit send. You showed your ID to the driver and scrambled for a seat, shoving earbuds in your ears to drown out the rest of the world with a bit of music. Fortunately, the shuttle ride was quicker than usual since there were lesser stops for that day. You gave a light bow to the driver before you rushed out of the shuttle doors and bolted to get to your lecture hall.
It was on the third floor of the left wing of the main building. You were desperately trying to catch your breath as you felt a burn rising in your lungs. You wanted to puke because of how hungry and tired you felt so early in the morning, but you brushed it off.
You sprinted down the hallway to professor Cyrus' lecture hall, seeing that nearly all the seats were occupied. There were still a few vacant seats at the back, but you were glad to see your friend, Xingqiu, waving you over from the middle row.
"Thanks for saving me a seat," You thanked your blue-haired friend, fixing your hair and disheveled clothes. You sat down just in time as professor Cyrus walked into the lecture hall and began setting up his laptop to present.
"No worries. I knew you'd be late. It's Childe's birthday today, no? You've been talking about it all week. I already expected that you'd do something for him this morning." He said, not even batting an eyelash as he carefully opened his laptop in front of him.
"That predictable, huh?" You chuckled, placing your own laptop on the table and taking out the McGriddle you shoved in your bag earlier. Professor Cyrus seemed to be tweaking a few things on his presentation, so you decided to use the spare minutes to eat the sandwich you purchased.
You scarfed it down in a few bites, leaving Xingqiu confused and a bit scared. He thought you were going to choke.
"Didn't you have breakfast before you left your dorm?" He asked, marveling at how you managed to eat the McGriddle in- four, maybe five? bites.
"I mean, I bought this," You said, motioning to the crumpled up wrapper in your hand. "It was getting late since I dropped by Childe's apartment to leave him his breakfast."
"How charming of you, _____." Xingqiu chuckled, slipping on his glasses.
"I wonder if he's awake now," You mumbled, loud enough for Xingqiu to hear, but he didn't react to it.
You opened your phone and saw seven messages from your dorky boyfriend.
[ _____ you're gonna make me cry ]

Sent 7:32 AM.
[ You must be in class now. Good luck!! I'm already eating. Thank you so much, darling! I love you!! ♡ ]
Sent 7:34 AM.
You couldn't help but smile at how his aura radiated even through the screen of your phone. You clicked on the notification from Instagram and it opened to a video on Childe's story. It was a boomerang of him making a winky face and then showing his meal neatly placed on his table.
There was a caption beside a heart sticker which read:
What a great way to start my birthday. Thanks to my lovely @_____. I love you so much! ♡
A familiar warmth spread throughout your chest and you couldn't help but smile at how sweet he was. It was amazing, really. Childe's words and actions always had such an effect on you, and it didn't even matter how you were the one who did a romantic gesture for him because you were here all blushy and gushy over his sickeningly sweet messages of affection.
You put your phone away as soon as professor Cyrus soon started his lecture on the different trading policies limited by oversea regulations- or something like that.
The lesson itself was interesting, but you couldn't help to nod off and daydream about your wonderfully dorky boyfriend and his beautiful eyes, his cute button nose, his slim cheeks, his pink lips.
Childe sneezed.
-
As soon as the last bell rang, you quickly gathered your things and shoved them in your bag. You nodded a swift goodbye to Xingqiu before running off to the entrance of the main building.
Zhongli messaged you that his lecture ended earlier than expected, and that he was waiting for you by the entrance already.
You saw the brunette sitting on one of the benches, a thick history book in hand and reading glasses firmly sitting on top of his nose. You noticed a few girls just a couple of feet away from him. They were eyeing him up, probably drinking in the sight of this beautifully constructed creature.
You chuckled. It was common for you to be more aware of people fawning over Childe and Zhongli. They were a couple of incredibly hot males, you knew that. You got used to the sight of other people gawking and eye-fucking your boyfriend and his bestfriend that it was just hilarious and amusing at this point.
"Zhong!" You called, earning the attention of both Zhongli and the group of girls.
"Ah, _____. Glad you're finally here." He closed his book and tucked it away in his satchel (This man owned a satchel) before he stood up to greet you.
"Were you waiting long? Sorry." You said sheepishly.
"No, not at all. I was enthralled by this one chapter on the Ming Dynasty and their more underrated feats. History never fails to amuse me." Zhongli replied, a glint sparkling in his amber eyes.
"Hey, um," You inched yourself closer to him, "Mind if we go on ahead? Some of your fangirls are scaring the hell out of me." From the corner of your eye, you could see how they were drilling holes at your head from staring too hard. You could've sworn one girl was even holding her phone up, as if taking a photo.
"What?" The taller man whipped around to look at the girls and they scurried off upon seeing the intimidating glare in his eyes.
"You and Childe really attract attention everywhere you go, don't you?" You chuckled, walking towards the shuttle station.
"Childe, certainly. He, along with his... fraternity brothers do attract quite the crowd whenever they are together. As for myself, I doubt it. I'm more of the silent-type compared to him, anyway."
"Are you kidding me?" You bit your tongue to hold back the thought.
"I see."
"Those girls look familiar, though." He mentioned.
"Oh? Maybe history majors as well?"
"_____, if they were history majors, I would've at least recognized their faces more clearly. I feel like I've seen them somewhere."
"Ah, my bad. You and your eerily accurate memory." You teased, climbing onto the shuttle and sitting on one of the empty seats.
"It is not eerie, thank you very much." He retorted with a snarky tone, joining you on the seat.
"Of course it isn't. You remember what I said to Childe when we were watching that one movie Rex Lapis: Revenge of the Fallen?"
"Indeed I do. You said, "Rex Lapis would be hot if he was a human, don't you think?" and Childe replied, "Yeah, but I could probably beat him up. I'd be way hotter than him." It was comedy, really. Rex Lapis, although a fictional figure, has far more capabilities than Childe could even dream of."
"Do you... not see the eerie part of that?"
"What? That Childe thinks he can beat up an actual Archon?"
"No... Zhongli, we watched that movie three years ago."
"Your point is?"
"...I can't even remember what I had for lunch yesterday."
"Childe bought you some sushi."
"See what I mean?!"
"That means you have a poor memory, _____." Zhongli laughed at your face curling into a frown. "Anyway, while you were entertaining me with your banter, I recalled why those girls are so familiar."
"Do tell."
"They're part of Childe's posse."
You could've sworn your heart leapt to your throat. You knew that your boyfriend was pretty much sculpted by the Archons themselves, but, really? a fucking posse?
Zhongli noticed how the lump in your throat bobbed, and he decided that it was better to calmly explain how and why he knew about it.
"See, it was during the first year of university. Childe started hanging around Kaeya and his other fraternity brothers. There was this one occasion where Childe was nearly black-out drunk in a bar. If I didn't see on Kaeya's Instagram story, I wouldn't have known," You noticed how Zhongli's face visibly darkened, "These girls were hanging off him like koalas to a strong tree branch. It was unsightly."
"I... see."
"Although he was about to pass out, he pushed them away. Charming, really. He was already crazy about you even during the first year of uni. Even though you weren't together yet, he didn't want to "cheat" on you by entertaining other females." A soft smile made its way to your face upon hearing Zhongli's confession about how your boyfriend felt about you.
"I'm determined to make these cookies a success," You said determinedly.
"Glad to hear it. It seems we're already at your dormitory. You still have enough ingredients for the cookies, right? I assume you failed quite a few times yesterday."
"How did you even know?"
Zhongli once again laughed as you stepped off the shuttle, "Lucky guess."
Unbeknownst to the two of you, three figures were following you the moment you left the campus.
-
"_____ is so sweet! They got my favorite breakfast this morning." Childe mindlessly gushed over his significant other.
Diluc wasn't really one to listen to other people ramble on and on about feelings and love and romance, but it was his friend's birthday. He'd let it slide.
"Bro, that's just gross," Kaeya spat, taking a chug of his beer.
"Oh, shut up, Kaeya. Just because you don't plan on committing to anyone doesn't mean the people around you are obligated to do so as well." Diluc rebutted, without even looking up from his journal.
"You're in college. It's the time when you're supposed to have a shit ton of flings, no commitment. And yet you're here being loyal to _____?" Kaeya glared at Diluc, but the redhead only flipped him off.
"I don't see the problem with that." Childe spoke up, toying with the bracelet on his wrist. It was a gift from you during your first anniversary. You said you made it yourself, and although Childe could purchase all the expensive jewelry and accessories he wanted, this particular bracelet meant more to him than anything.
"The problem is _____'s going to hold you back!" Childe knew that Kaeya was half-drunk and it was still before noon, so he didn't really take his words seriously. "They aren't going to the party later, right?"
"No, unfortunately. They have to review a presentation for professor An's class."
"Hah! Review my ass. If I knew any better, that little toy of yours is just messing around with some other dude."
"Watch yourself." Childe stood up from his seat. He knew that Kaeya disapproved of their relationship because it wasn't really a "frat-boy" thing, but he didn't care about that. He cared about you more than a stupid reputation, and definitely more than a stupid lifestyle of partying, getting high, and getting drunk.
"Back up, softie. _____'s pussyness rubbing of on 'ya?" Kaeya's words were slurred, but Childe knew that there was malicious intent behind them.
"Look, I don't care about what you say about me. Call me a softie? Call me a pussy? I don't really give a shit. But the moment you start shitting on my _____? Don't even consider that I'd just stand around and let them be slandered, you piece of fuck." Childe was a few centimeters taller than Kaeya, and he always used that to his advantage when he wanted Kaeya to understand his point.
"Whatever you fucking say. It's your birthday, I'm not gonna fight with you on your birthday." Kaeya lightly pushed Childe away from him before downing the rest of the beer can in his hand.
"Don't mind him," Diluc spoke, staring into Childe's eyes. "He never thinks straight, whether drunk or sober."
"Yeah, I kinda got the message." The ginger chuckled, watching as Kaeya nearly tripped over his own feet while walking towards the case of beer supposedly for the party tonight.
"I'm glad that you and _____ are still getting along. It's refreshing to see normal people once in a while."
"Well, when you put it that way." Childe could only laugh.
"Where's the tall brunette at? Isn't he always with you?"
"Ah, you mean Zhongli? I don't know, actually. He has a lecture this morning and I wanted to meet him for a light meal before lunch, but he isn't answering my texts."
"I see."
As if on cue, Childe's phone emitted a soft ding!
He typed in his password and the screen faded into a photo of you. You were wearing one of his hoodies (it was way too big on you) and he could've fainted because of how absolutely adorable you looked.
He received a few Instagram DMs from Ellin. Ellin was a member of their posse. Childe would rather refer to them as "fraternity friends", but she insisted otherwise.
[ You're seriously praising _____ for being a good partner? Poor you, dear. ]
Received 9:41 AM.
He frowned.
[ What are you talking about? Mind your business. ]
Sent 9:42 AM.
[ Oh? It's not my business, sure. But you might wanna see this. ]
Received 9:44 AM.
[ 3 Images Attached ]
Received 9:44 AM.
Childe's eyes widened. Ellin sent three photos.
The first one was a photo of you and Zhongli standing awfully close to each other in front of the university's main building.
The second one was of you and Zhongli sitting beside each other in the shuttle.
The last one was... you and Zhongli entering your dormitory building.
"What the..."
He checked his messages to see if either you or Zhongli texted him about the ordeal. However, he was only greeted by messages wishing him a happy birthday from some of his family and friends back in their hometown. No messages from Zhongli, and no new ones from you.
"What the hell?"
He quickly typed out a message for his bestfriend. He didn't jump to conclusions; He trusted both of you, but what was this feeling in his gut? It felt icky, gross, and disgusting.
[ Where are you rn? Answer me. ]
Sent 9:46 AM.
His foot tapped against the floor at a rapid pace. Diluc wanted to question him, but the worried look on the ginger's face made him bite his tongue.
Childe wasn't the type of person to jump to conclusions, nor was he the type of person to get upset immediately over trivial things. But upon receiving an irksome reply from the amber-eyed bestfriend he knew and love, his blood began to boil.
[ None of your business. ]
Received 10:05 AM.

Genre: fluff, mutual crushes, college!au if you squint.
1.04k words
No warnings.
“As much as my heart flutters, I’m just as afraid.”
Alternatively, Jihoon is the type of flower that blooms beneath your light. (And sometimes, that light happens even before the sun has risen.)
A/N: Hi, Meraki! Thank you for the request :D It turns out I went in a completely different direction after that day I asked you for your favourite flower. Anyways, I think the scenario that follows somewhat matches the lovely fic you wrote for me the other month. (I still think about that one a lot ;-; thank you again for writing that one for me, wah.) I hope it's okay !!! <3
Here is the song that I used to inspire this fic, along with its lyrics.
Tumblr media
•• His phone lights up with a buzz from the side of his bed. Jihoon groans out, the light rousing him from whatever half-asleep state he'd previously been in—tossing and turning for most of the night, only recently finding comfort.
"Why–" the boy's voice croaks out before he clears his throat, eyes squinting when he picks up the device.
Are you awake? I'm hungryyy :((
Jihoon taps his thumbs rapidly: "I'm awake now," he mumbles as he sends his message.
His hands fall to the side of his head, eyes slowly closing once more until he feels the vibration of an incoming call on his palm.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Ji, sorry to have woken you," your voice is somewhat hushed across the line.
"It's fine," the boy says despite his forehead creasing, "I'm awake now. Is everything okay?"
He hears you hum as you think.
"Yeah, I'm okay," you begin, "I just can't sleep. And I'm hungry. And, maybe," you draw the word out, "if you're awake too, would you like to come over?"
Every ounce of exhaustion weighing Jihoon down and into his mattress screams out, No, but the soft lilt of your voice raising at the end of your question allows him to say, "Sure," without faltering.
No one else, the boy thinks to himself as he walks across the campus paths and in the direction of your dorms, could allow me to leave the comfort of my duvet at nearly four in the morning.
Well, maybe Soonyoung, his other best friend, could, too. (Although tonight isn't about him.)
The wind at dawn ruffles through Jihoon's hair, already tousled with sleep. Goosebumps tingle along the back of his neck; he pulls his coat tighter around his torso. The sky already seems like it's become lighter with the passing time—soon, the beginnings of the sunrise will emerge from behind the campus buildings.
In no time, Jihoon arrives at your dorm—only a tall door separating him from seeing you. He sends a quick text as a quieter option to knocking.
The door handle slightly rattles before it opens to reveal you: eyes lighting up and a beaming smile already plastered on your face at your greeting.
"Hi," he replies; a small giggle erupts from Jihoon's throat at your eagerness to usher him inside your room. "You're lucky your roommate is away, or else you wouldn't be able to get away with things like this."
"I know," your hand finds your friend's wrist in a gentle clutch as you make your way over to your small couch, fingertips buzzing as you let go of him shortly after.
"Why can't you sleep? Have you slept at all tonight?"
You nod, "I did, but I woke up craving something sweet, so–"
"So you ate—what are those?—chocolates? In the middle of the night?" Jihoon eyes the colourful bag in your grasp, "You know those have caffeine in them, right–"
"I know, I couldn't help myself! I forgot to put them away so there they were: in sight on my desk. And, of course, I couldn't just have one–"
"Why am I here?"
"So you can finish these for me!"
Jihoon exchanges a glance from you to the bag of bite-sized chocolates in your outstretched hand.
When you called him—
"Please?" you add with a smile.
—he became your flower.
Jihoon shakes his head, trying his best to fight the small grin forming upon his lips (but failing miserably at hiding his amusement before you can notice).
You nearly coo at the colour rising to the boy's cheeks.
As if he's drawn to your radiance, your sunshine you beam upon him, Jihoon blooms and opens up another side of himself. It's to you and only you—the place where he can show his true colours, the different petals that make up his exterior; what lies beneath those petals: his soft centre that's more sensitive than he'd openly admit.
Before he knows it, Jihoon has his hand reached inside the bag of chocolates, grabbing a few of the colourful discs in his fist and popping them into his mouth.
I don't even like chocolate very much, especially not at four in the morning.
You lean back with a deep exhale after rambling on about some late-night thought that the boy wouldn't be able to repeat back to you.
It's not that he's not listening to you—your voice calms him, eases him; soft intonations match the dim lighting from a nearby streetlamp illuminating the paths outside.
Something feels different.
Something in the air—something about being in your presence, perhaps—or maybe it's because the sun is beginning to become seen from outside your window: a physical, visible shift before his eyes.
Jihoon allows himself to look over at you as you look out the window.
You're pressed into the backing of the couch, head leaning back and eyes gazing off at nothing in particular. The remnants of a smile could be tasted on your lips.
Along with chocolate, I'm sure, Jihoon mulls over—but no, why is he again thinking about what would be evident on your lips when he knows you don't feel the same way about him–
"Jihoon?"
"Hm?" The boy's heart nearly lurches out of his chest.
"You're staring again."
"Oh—sorry—I just– I think I'm tired, that's all," he shrugs his thoughts away, disposing them along with the disappearing moon.
You lightly chuckle at Jihoon's blatant awkwardness. He may not be the best at conveying what he truly feels, but that doesn't mean you don't find him endearing throughout it all. Other late nights, similar to this, he's always come over after you've called him or sent him a quick message.
The two of you understand each other. Words aren't a necessity—even now, as you and Jihoon bask in the slow ascent of the sun, perhaps akin to sunflowers, facing the rising rays.
You turn to face Jihoon, who is already peering at you with the most gentle of smiles.
His facial features are round, reminding you of a flower whose name does nothing but reside on the tip of your tongue, too far from reach for you to spill from your lips and wash him in your words.
Instead, whichever flower it is—you're positive it captures Jihoon perfectly—you keep it to yourself.
