how they fall in love - tokrev boys

aka the april 14th "i made it through valentine's day AND white day without any romantic attention" special. happy singles day to all who celebrate. hcs for a selections of my personal tokyo revengers blorbos, including: Mikey, Draken, Baji, Chifuyu, Kazutora, Hakkai, Taiju, Koko, and Inupi.

Mikey falls in love with uncertainty. He’s used to feeling so much all the time at once that he isn’t sure he could pinpoint love in the middle of all of it. But until he knew you, it didn’t matter. As you get closer to him, he becomes more acutely aware that he definitely has positive, pleasant feelings toward you. He may even get himself in trouble by picking fights with others who steal your attention from him. It probably takes Draken, Takemichi, or Emma to be like, “So, about this crush you have….” and he’d be like, “...the what.” Be patient with him, he’ll come around, and when he realizes both his own and your feelings, he’ll be the sweetest boyfriend. Please do not accept anything he cooks for you though. No chance in hell that he can cook.

Draken falls slowly. He starts by noticing how cute you are when you do mundane tasks, or the little things that make your eyes sparkle, and he finds himself wanting to know more. He’s very observant when it comes to details, and might surprise you here and there by bringing you your favorite drink or a treat of some sort, but his love language is definitely quality time. Whatever your hobbies are, he’ll definitely start feeling a stronger attachment to you if you do that thing in his vicinity while he’s working on fixing up a bike or something. It’ll take him some time to come to the conclusion that it’s love, but in the meantime he’ll settle for the warm swell in his chest that he feels when you’re around.

Baji falls quietly, behind the scenes. If he doesn’t know you like him back, he’ll operate under the assumption that you don’t and just be content with just being by your side and will express his feelings via little gestures that show he cares and listens to you. This can range anywhere from noticing you’re warm and turning on the AC, or torching a vending machine that ate your change. Depends on his mood. Another way he’ll show his affection is by sharing things with you; food, beverages, etc., yes, but also hair ties. And he won’t even ask for them back. If you keep the hair tie he gave you and wear it on your wrist? He’s as good as gone. Please confess to him soon, this boy is down worse than he lets on.

Chifuyu falls in love like an idiot. He doesn’t fall for just anyone, but when he does, he’s immediately head over heels. In a borderline insufferable way, too. We’ve seen how clingy he was with Baji. He is gonna make himself your personal guard dog, whether you want it or not. He’s gonna go out of his way to bring you tokens of his adoration like a courting magpie. I’m so serious, this is the boy who will bring you a really fucking shiny rock he saw that made him think of you. If you try to talk to him normally, though, you’d better be prepared for him to get all flustered and formal about it. But once you get him out of his own head about it, he’s loyal and dedicated and affectionate.

Kazutora falls in love like he isn’t sure what love really is. Sweet boy has been through so much, especially growing up in a family situation like his. He doesn’t know what love looks like, and he worries that if he were to be in love, he wouldn’t do it right. He’s one you’ll really have to take initiative with imo. But if you show him your love, he’ll slowly but surely follow suit. Show him that love can be gentle and playful and fun. Show him that it can be tender or sweet or passionate. Show him the love he’s never gotten, and he’ll learn to show you his love in return.

Hakkai falls hard and fast, but you wouldn’t know it. He knows he likes you the moment he sees you, but if you so much as make eye contact with him, he freezes and is immediately beet red. It will take at least three people shoving him directly at you and coaching him through what to say to actually ask you out.

Taiju falls in love stubbornly. When love isn’t what he thought it would feel like, when it ends up making him feel all mushy in his core, he rebukes it. He denies it. He tries anything in his power to keep this weakness from entering his body. He’s never known what it is to be soft and doesn’t understand why you make him feel this way. He might be cute and a little tsuntsun about it, but you’ve already cracked his shell and he can’t deny it forever.

Koko falls hesitantly. He’s nervous when it comes to vulnerability, but devoted nonetheless. Think toned down and bottled up version of Chifuyu. On the surface, he seems like he has mad game, but we all know he’s a weenie at his core, and he knows it too. He’ll seem calm and collected around you, he may even be a little flirty, but just know he’s dying inside. I suggest putting him out of his misery and confessing first, but c’mon, we all know it’d be so much cuter if he accidentally blurted it out and then was all surprised when you tell him you feel the same way. But he’s most definitely gonna keep it bottled up until he bursts.

Inupi falls in love quietly, similarly to Baji. He trusts quickly, and when he knows, he knows. He’s not going out of his way to make some big, dramatic confession, though. But he will absolutely be glued to your side. Just existing near you. He won’t be the chattiest person, but you’ll find that he’ll always have something meaningful to say. You’ll probably get more out of him if you can get him alone, honestly. Let him take you for a ride on his bike to someplace you can just enjoy each other’s company and he’ll bare his soul to you.

BG3 Tag Game!

I was tagged by @khywren!!! Thank you!!!!!!

I'm going to tag @vanilkaplays @okthisway @maladaptive-menace @riddlerosehearts @starkspi and anyone else who wants to play along!

Favorite romance: It will surprise no one to know that it's Astarion. I find his backstory so incredibly interesting and I love his dumbass personality. At the end of the day, he just wants to do whatever is the most hilarious and I adore that. I especially love how soft he gets when you get together in Act 2. I could go on and on but I'll never be able to fully articulate my love for him.

Favorite class to play: Bard! I love that they're really the jack of all trades and are pretty good at everything, including spells and sword fighting. Persuasion and deception are SO helpful in this game, plus playing music to distract crowds and cause shenanigans in Baldur's Gate is wonderful.

Favorite NPC: I think Raphael. While yeah he absolutely SUCKS, I'm obsessed with his obsession with his own voice. He's a thespian, he's a freak, he's an idiot. I love it. But yes, I did kill his ass.

Favorite song off the soundtrack: Probably the Harpy Song. I listen to it a lot in my spare time, especially when I'm working on a specific fic I'm attempting to write. I'm a big fan of haunting melodies and, unsurprisingly, the concept of hypnotizing music.

Tell us a little about your Tav: I wrote a pretty long post about her here, but my Tav is named Birdie and she's a bard who was born and raised at the Water Queen's House. Previous iterations of her had her as a siren (hence the deep love of the Harpy Song), but I'm still not 100% sure if this version of her is. Basically, she's a mermaid ass goof whose main gang of idiots include Astarion, Gale, and Shadowheart. Chaos often ensues.

Something you wish was in the game: I know this game is huge. I know there's probably stuff people haven't even discovered yet. But god would I love some more camp animations. More interactions between the companions AT camp. Cut scenes where there should probably be cut scenes (The second time Astarion drinks your blood, Wyll celebrating the defeat of Ansur, etc). I really really love this game, but I'd love to hang out with my friends EVEN MORE.

Do you create fanworks? Share something with us: Oh boy I'm TRYING. I've never really written fanfiction before but the stupid vampire has inspired me to do so. I'm in the process of writing two different fics (one multi-chapter, one one-shot on the longer side) and am having a blast but I'm not sure if/when I'll post them. I've noticed my writing style is very similar to the way I write scripts, which is what I went to college for, so they're full of dialogue and quick, dumb banter. It might not be for everyone, but I'm having The Most Fun! Let me know if you'd maybe want to see more? Here's a silly excerpt from the one-shot (she may or may not get smutty later on 👀):

There was no sign of the vampire, save for an open hatch beneath the stone of the tower leading into what you presumed was a cellar of sorts. Off to the side was a discarded set of Thieves’ Tools. Yup, that’ll be him.

Rolling your eyes affectionately, you began to descend into the basement below.

Before you could even make it to the bottom, however, you heard Astarion’s voice tinged with annoyance. “Don’t bother, darling. I was just coming back up.”

You paused on the ladder and looked down at him. “That bad?”

“Eh, a few coins, some food. Nothing worth risking one’s life over. Foolish gnome.”

“Shame,” you pouted down at him, not an ounce of real sympathy behind the word.

He smirked as he met your eye. “Go,” he said, indicating you should climb back up the ladder. “There was a rather large amount of smoke powder though. That could be fun.”

When you emerged back into the early evening air, you turned to help Astarion out. “Maybe you can blow up a quaint little gnomish village.”

Astarion’s eyes glittered with delight. “Oh, do you think there’s one around here? That would be- Oh. You’re joking.”

You nodded.

“Gods, you’re no fun.” He sighed dramatically and then started back towards the Blighted Village proper.

You scoffed in mock offense. “I’m a lot of fun!”

Astarion tsked. “If you have to say you’re a lot of fun, odds are, you’re lying to yourself.” He shot a challenging half smile at you from over his shoulder.

“How dare you,” you laughed.

“Such a pity, too,” he went on. “Aren’t bards supposed to be entertaining?”

You made a sound of agony, which had Astarion fully turning back to look at you. You threw a hand to your heart and staggered towards him. “You wound me, Astarion. Look upon me with pity and remember me fondly!” You set an arm on his shoulder and let your body weight go, as if collapsing from a killing blow.

Astarion was quick to catch you under your arms. He made a show of groaning about how heavy you were now that your body had gone completely limp. After you’d hung loosely from his grip for a few seconds, he finally yielded. “Alright, enough.”

You resumed control of your body and stood up straight, a smug look on your face. “I’m fun.”

“Dramatic.”

“Theatrical.”

“Annoying.”

“Endearing.”

“Loud.”

“Enthusiastic-”

Just then, a loud howl came from a barn a little ways off.

You and Astarion eyed each other.

“Was that you?” Astarion asked.

“‘Was that me?!’ I’m not THAT loud.”

“Could have fooled me.”

You rolled your eyes. “Come on.” You started in a light jog towards the barn.

Astarion groaned. “You can’t be serious.” He caught up with you easily. “Haven’t we done enough heroing for today?”

You looked at him thoughtfully. “One more act of heroism probably won’t kill you.”

“It might!”

“Oh, now who’s being dramatic?” You came to a stop at the double doors.

“I-” Astarion floundered, then pursed his lips and crossed his arms.

“That’s what I thought.”

Curious to know your feels about the 1000 Years Old finale. You didn't post much about it. Maybe that's a commentary in and of itself LOL.

Part of the answer is that I struggle with watching things out of my usual schedule and had a very busy weekend so I'm just getting around to actually watching the finale episode after knowing all kinds of spoilers. I am actively writing this response as I watch the episode. So enjoy my live thoughts on your ask.

And, so far, my entire reaction is that they crammed way too much here in the end. They needed to spread this out more than they did and I get parts of it, I like having the soulmates reveal only at the very end...

But there's a lot of plot and seriousness that they just didn't touch on enough and that I think including in the rest of the show would have improved it greatly as well as helping with the pacing struggling most people had.

If more of the Janja plot had been genuinely spread through the show and more of these serious moments and the understanding of their agreement and relationship had started earlier I might care more about this. But I don't care about Janja at all! I just don't! I wasn't given reasons to care until the very end and that's not enough for me.

Also, having Yoh not fight for any of it really did disappoint me but the director of this show, as seen in multiple other shows they've done, seems to have a thing for one very passive character in the main relationship who will just Allow Things To Happen To Them without ever fighting back. And I never like that, frankly.

Yes, they dropped a few hints here and there but it just isn't enough to tie it all together in this show itself.

It's not a bad finale, it's not the worst, but the end of the show feels so rushed compared to the rest and us not getting all the fluffy times together only to be shown a single scene at the end of a long happy life instead of the time together that I want to see.

I like domesticity, not the end of domesticity.

I get why people liked this ending. I see how people who rewatch things, especially, will enjoy the recontextualization of the show.

But for me? It made everything feel rushed and the rest of the show feel almost empty and slightly worse in comparison. Either we needed more plot or less episodes for this to work.

(Every time I see Somchai I am sad we did not get Somchai and Shin. Every single time. Come on. You crammed this much into the final episode, you could have given me more of them somewhere else!)

Also, I love his random bodyguards, whoever they are. Love them.

Also, this year long time skip is stupid.

Seriously, I am deeply frustrated by Yoh literally finding out they're soulmates and then just... completely abandoning Pun and leaving entirely. It's not interesting to see him just give up and it makes him the most passive character ever. Which we also had in I Will Knock You and, frankly, in 2gether. That's just The Style.

JANJA LITERALLY TOLD YOH SHE WAS GIVING HIM PUN BECAUSE PUN WILL NEVER LOVE ANYONE ELSE. Whatever, at least the confession and whole thing is done and now they can be soulmates together.

9 minutes of happy ending is not enough. Absolutely not enough. Yes, it was cute. Yes, it was a happy ending. But it's just not enough and it leaves me wanting more and wishing that the show were paced differently.

(Still sad we couldn't get any more Somchai and Shin, we deserved more.)

Edit Okay, I didn't mention this originally but I actually hate that the soulmate/reincarnation line takes away the power of Yoh's gift to Pun being his first birthday present. It really bothers me because that moment was one of the my favorite moments and the finale just made it not matter at all and turned it into something much less important and takes away a lot of the importance away of Pun wearing the cross and it BOTHERS ME A LOT.

Hii, thanks for requesting! I hope you like this. It turned quite dark but you know it's Billy so.

Kiss and make up.

Summary: Billy and the reader have been in quite a rocky relationship since the beginning and the reader really thinks that fight was the last fight but Billy thinks otherwise and he always has to be right.

Pairing: Billy Loomis x fem!reader.

Trigger warnings: Manipulation, death, suicide mention.

You and Billy always had fights. At the beginning of the relationship it wasn't that bad, or at least that's what you would tell your concerned friends.

You have been together for 7 months now and it was almost like every month Billy fought you more and more about minimal things. Like your guy friends "talking to you too much", or you girlfriends "telling you to hang out too much and never letting you spend time with Billy".

But it was hard to get mad at him, you two fought all the time but he was one of the people that always made you feel better, he might hurt you but he was also your main comfort source.

This time was different though you haven't seen your best friends for a month almost because you were too busy hanging out and having study dates with Billy.

So when your friends invited you to the movies you obviously said yes but sooner rather than later the moment you most dreaded, the moment of telling Billy about your plans, came.

And you had an awfully big fight that included him saying that your friends aren't good and that they just wanna hang out cause exam season is just around the corner. It broke your heart to hear him say that all your friends wanted you for was just good grades so you decided that this fight, was the last fight.

The next day Billy was really apologetic at school and tried to talk to you many times.

After leaving the books you didn't need in your locker you closed your door just to see him standing there with some flowers and your favorite candy.

"Hey, do you have a minute?" Billy said before giving you the flowers and candy which you took and then sighed.

"No I don't, actually I'm running late to a study date with my selfish friends." You answered shooting back at him the mean words he said about your friends.

You turned around and before you could walk away he took you by your arm and turned you around.

"You know I didn't really mean it, it's just that we had plans for that day and you blew them out just to hang out with your friends that didn't text you in a whole month" he let go of your arm before you had to tell him but you didn't move, you knew you were right but started doubting yourself anyways. "But I do understand that maybe it was a bit out of proportion, I respect your decision but you know I'm always here for you right?"

This was a bit different that your usual fights and it shocked you a bit. He seemed so nice and genuine, but no, you weren't gonna give in so soon.

For almost a week Billy was very nice and respectful, he left you flowers and food you liked in your locker, he would just wave in the hallways and he even helped you out in an assignment you didn't quite get.

That was the week before your friends both died brutally, one of them hanged herself and the other had an awful car accident. The police found some suspicious things in the crime scenes such as signs of a fight on your friend that killed herself and the breaks completely messed up on your other friends car.

But you didn't know that, what you did know is that Billy was always your greatest comfort and now you really needed him.

You knocked on his door trying to hold the tears, you didn't like crying on the sidewalk even though you had all the rights to do so.

He opened the door and automatically let you in and asked how you were.

That was all you needed to breakdown crying and hug him while telling him how bad you felt about what happened.

His arms wrapped around your torso and one of his hands went to caress your hair. "It's okay, none of it is your fault" but he knew that if you never left him, he wouldn't have kill them, not yet at least.

But your sweet Billy was back and ready to comfort you as per usual, he watched all your comfort movies with you, did your homework and helped you for exam season. There's nothing he wouldn't do for you. And you two obviously got back together, why wouldn't you? 7 months and counting.

You've expressed the desire to keep the Brother's Keeper AU consistent with the general tone and age range of TOH. What's the motivation behind this? I'd be curious to know what (if there are any) Brother's Keeper concepts occupy your mind but will never write/draw because it's not consistent with the tone.

lmao my forbidden concepts are the same thing but with swearing 🤣

Honestly though? This is actually something I'm debating right now.

To be fair, there was never actually any particular desire to keep the TONE consistent with the show (I tend towards character drama rather than children's comedy), however keeping things reasonably PG, yes, that I was going for.

It actually stems from before Brother's Keeper. I used to draw Gravity Falls stuff, and I'm aware that when I make fan art it's often for animated content, which, when it's American, (unfortunately) tends to be aimed at kids. And kids are both interested enough in their favorite media to want to see art of it and fully capable of using google.

I didn't want to be an adult responsible for ruining a kid's favorite thing. (I also wasn't invested enough in making adult style content to try to hide my blog from search engines entirely.)

As it wound up turning out, some of my BK stuff does in fact turn up pretty quickly in google image search if you look for Wittebane related content, so I was right to be cautious.

Anyway, because of those concerns my rule since long before Brother's Keeper has been that when I publicly share fan art, it stays in the general range of appropriateness for the original media's target audience. If it's an R rated movie, then I'm fine with doing R-rated fan art. If it's rated G, then the fan art either stays G or goes behind some kind of privacy shield where it's less likely to pop up in a casual search without warning.

As far as BK goes though, more recently Tumblr has added better content warning protections (I haven't tried it out but it's nice to know it's there). And in addition, I've been spending more time considering exactly how I'm handling the ending, and have been toying with the possibility of going darker and debating where exactly the line is.

I'm sure I am and will be toeing the line regardless, lol. I'm not a big fan of gore and am not that interested in sexual content, so those aren't that likely to show up that much even if I went full Adults Only. But I DO like exploring emotional complexity, even when it gets very heavy and dark, which are things American kids media is allergic to. Where is the line when it come to "dark themes"? How heavy can your story be before it becomes inappropriate for kids, even if there's no risque content and all the violence is bloodless? How hard can I go with the violence before it becomes TOO violent, even when completely absent of blood and gore?

Originally I planned to wait and see how the show ended and then build around that. Presumably that would have automatically resulted in a child friendly end. However, unfortunately, I... don't really like the finale and don't find it satisfying for Brother's Keeper's storyline. Which means I have to invent something completely different myself.

I'm in the process of inventing that something, but lately I've begun to think that what I have in mind will have fight scenes and may also work best if I include some real world modern close-mindedness (for the purpose of paralleling Belos' old timey anti-witch nastiness.) There are PG ways of doing that, but if I go down that darker route I do find myself reconsidering whether it might be better to just lean into it and up the rating a bit.

Paper, Graffiti, Cricut, Finger Painting

Paper: Who do you feel is your most two-dimensional or underdeveloped OC? Why is this? (including those that are still in development/haven't been written about yet)

I guess that would have to be Skara and Stormy. They’re two of the competitors that end up rivaling Starline and the group.

(Early design of Skara, still WIP)

Currently all I have for them is that at least one of them is related to Rough (and Tumble if they’re blood brothers), and that they’re big on environment protection as well. They come across as brutes and bullies, but unlike the skunk duo, they actually have standards.

The reason I’m feeling they’re under developed is because I’m genuinely not sure how to handle them. Should they be blood sisters with the bros? Each other? Cousins?

All I know is that whatever comes of it, there’ll definitely be a scene later on with Rough questioning how Starline knows their names, and subsequently freaking out when he learns they know each other. XD

Graffiti: Have you ever had to research something that felt illicit or illegal for a fic? What was it?

Electrical and Chemical Detonations/ Explosions. No, you do not get context. :^)

Cricut: are there any characters you've had to "cut" from a story? Are there any moments/chapters/stories you've had to "cut" entirely?

Hahaha, yes. I’ve actually had to scrap multiple, fully written out timelines. And since I’m still in the process of struggling with the story, everything I currently have might still get the ax, or at least be heavily rewritten.

One scene I can share that I’ve cut for sure is a fight at the Atmos CORE (which powers the entire facility and nearby town) where Charge has to stay behind to try and stabilize it, but it still causes an explosion that causes damage to the surrounding areas.

While aspects of it might still be used, this scenario felt like the weakest of my many other options with the events happening around it.

Finger Painting: share a small snippet from your earliest work (or the earliest that you can get back to). How would you rewrite it today? Either share the rewrite itself or just describe how you'd do it.

(This is my favorite piece from the original scrapped timeline during the Post Competition. The group decides to part ways to go home and visit family for a bit. They all want to remain a team though, so they have a meetup planned. Hex just sent Starline a harmless hacking program to deliver a message to him)

“Heya Doc! Hope you’ve been doing well! Wanted to remind you that the meetup is on the 13th! I know you said you’d have to think about forming a team with us, but if you’re still willing to consider it, we’d love have you on board! Hope to see you there! -Hex.”

Starline snuffed amusedly as he read the hacker’s little message and stared at the attached photo of them all laughing with ice creams in hand.

How silly.. It had barely been a month; and yet he still couldn’t believe that he found himself missing them. Despite his tendencies to rely on no one but himself, he did admit that it had been oddly nice to have them all around.

The platypus took a long, quiet sip of his tea as he considered the message. The meetup was in a few days then, wasn’t it? And it seems like the offer to join them still stood.

…

Maybe… he would take them up on it..

It wasn’t as if his plans to join Eggman were getting anywhere fast.. and his ideas were suffering from a mental block right now, being very few and far between.

He glanced over at the large; unfinished energy coupler he had been attempting to string together for several days now as he thought this.

Maybe.. it wouldn’t hurt for him to take a break and.. try something different. Still inspired by Eggman of course—but using that inspiration and brilliance to forge something more productive, alongside a team of other brilliant, like-minded people whom he had come to consider his friends.

Chuckling at the absurdity of how he now found himself here as opposed to a few months ago, Starline smiled and raised his finger to accept to the invite.

But just before he could push it, he abruptly jerked back again as a voice suddenly spoke up behind him.’

In the original timeline, I planned to have Starline be coerced and manipulated back onto his path of evil by Zeroth, which would have explained his sudden change of heart and the undoing of the good influence the team had on him, leading him into his IDW self. But… fear got the better of me that it might be seen as a cop out, as well as make him too OOC, so I had to throw it into the scrapbin it to try and see what else I could come up with.

The fic ended up never getting published, but it was the first to be completed! 🥳

I’m not really sure how I would rewrite it now, other than changing a few lines of dialogue later on. 🤔 It’s a concept that sort of fits in it’s own bubble and either works or doesn’t.

It was fun to write though! I made someone cry from reading it, so I consider that a win! XD

well you know. the obvious one. inkpa too OF COURSE. waikorn cracks me up even if i’m a nonbeliever. i loved whatever was happening between pat, pran, phupha, and tian. and i also love, in a platonic way, pran’s dynamic with ink (he makes fun of her bracelet/fakes her out by saying he also liked her…as a friend. it’s very endearing very sibling-in-law) and pran’s dynamic with pa (in bbs but also in bbsos2)

favorite character(s)

god how to choose between pat and pran. they are both characters of all time. well-developed with idiosyncrasies and penchants for lying and performing and slipping into roles and reversing roles. especially when they’re with each other of course. i might choose pran simply because i see more of myself in pat if that makes sense

favorite episode(s)

it’s probably episode 5, or episode 11. both these episodes just take everything out of me. you know why. runners up: episode 3 and episode 12. this is hard to pick because there is not a single episode i wouldn't enjoy (lol) randomly rewatching. all bangers no skips

favorite scene(s)

i love the scene in episode 4 of pat telling pran his dimples are cute. episode 5 fight scene my beloved. then there's the entirety of the bet era like aside from how perfect it is for pat and pran…it’s just peak romance, peak build-up, such a pleasure to watch. i reeeeeally do love the fantasy sequence of pat and pran eating dinner with pran’s parents in episode 11, i’m fascinated by it in a meta sense but also it hurts so good. i like ming and dissaya hearing pat and pran laughing and singing together in pran’s room in ep12 and being utterly powerless to stop it. it’s like, the show didn’t necessarily need all of ep 12, but it was such a welcome and fitting epilogue to these beloved characters and their love. pat and pran are gonna be alright...

one thing you would change about the show if you could

i really appreciate all of its imperfections honestly but. it would have to be the aftermath of wai outing pat and pran. even in my first watch it was a head scratcher that pran was expected to be the one apologizing. it just didn’t add up. there was a weight behind what was happening that the show didn’t realize. i can rationalize it and explain it away to make wai somewhat less heinous in universe but it really should have been treated as what it was: an outing. also yes let ink and pa kiss.

what are your some of your favorite fanworks made by other people?

you know i’m a sucker for @kit-teung's art

and for @hereforlou's art. pure domestic bliss that pat and pran have EARNED. this is the fanart reimaginings they deserve. also i love their little cowlicks

@miscellar's meta series the comprehensive shrek breakdown of pat and pran's story in our skyy (particularly for ep3 which i linked). i was in the trenches those two weeks in late may/early june and these posts (and their dms) were my guiding light...all of miscellar's meta is extremely baller and forever on the bbs 101 syllabus in my mind. and for some reason i’m waiting to read more bad buddy fanfiction until after i finish my own BBS fic but I’m excited to read their zombie patpran. so it gets an honorable mention here + they get so many anons singing its praise like i literally can't wait

You're all driving me wiggedy-wack thinking The Slap was the big clue in the Sire episode. You're so close--sooo close!--it's right next to it in that scene!! "Nandor's testing Guillermo hurr durr and his facial expression is him figuring out the hypnosis didn't work huuuurrrmpamcakes"…Nandor might once have been a military strategist, maybe…700 years ago, if his "strategy" wasn't just brute force (his epithet isn't Nandor the Subtle Manipulator, guys)…but these days our adorable himbo is a little more reminiscent of a menopausal church lady who just dropped the casserole she's been slaving over for a week right outside the Bible study group meeting room's doorway than a paragon of stoicism or gravitas, and when he can get up the motivation to rub two neurons together hard enough that they put a dent in his depression inertia, he comes up with stuff like the Doug Peterson hypnosis attempt. He's a dear and I love him to little bitsy pieces, but Ender Wiggin he is not, if he ever was.

The moment there that you need to notice is not Nandor's reaction to The Slap…it's Colin's. Yes, he's feeding off the drama, but in the moment of the attempt to entice The Sire with our favorite thirst-trap vampire-slayer's slick booty-shaking moves, Colin encourages him, "Yeah, Guillermo, shake your money-maker!"

So? What's that got to do with anything?

That, my friends, is a test coming back conclusive. That is a Chekov's gun being fired.

When the vampires think they're hypnotizing Guillermo not to hurt them, right before they finish the spell and break off the connection…Colin adds in that whenever he says Guillermo's name, Guillermo has to meow like a cat. He tests it as soon as Guillermo "wakes up"…and Guillermo plays along and meows to keep the illusion against them all going.

Gun on the mantlepiece.

When The Slap happens, the characters are all too shocked in that instant to put the pieces together…including Nandor, whose blood is not flowing into the head that's on his shoulders at the moment, if you catch my drift. But Colin has always been a little more "with it" than the bloodsuckers, and when he eggs Guillermo on later, he doesn't call him Gizmo…and Guillermo, busy with other things, forgets to meow.

Pow. The gun's been fired.

The interesting thing is that if Colin has indeed purposely tested the efficacy of the hypnosis here, he knows it didn't work…and he appears to keep it to himself. By the time Guillermo himself spills the beans to Nandor during the fight, Colin has conveniently been dead for an episode or so, seemingly taking the secret to his grave. Except, of course, that he doesn't have one, he reincarnates. And with that weird, middle-aged head on an infant's body, too! Which visually suggests some kind of continuity between Colin's lives; is he the same Colin, or a completely blank slate? Does some "essence" remain of his previous self? Or maybe…some memories? Will Colin 2.0 have any recollection that Guillermo is immune to vampiric hypnosis? If so, will he continue keeping that a secret? Why or why not? And if he did have this figured out prior to being rebooted in his meatspace form, why might he have chosen not to say anything? That could go either way: was he keeping that in his back pocket strategically, or out of goals that might not have been self-serving?

Never trust the accountant dude, guys…he keeps all the books and knows where everything does or doesn't add up!

i was supposed to ramble about this last night/ after its premiere, but i was so sleepy lol-

Basic Information:

AVM - ANIMATION VS. MINECRAFT

this amazing series that I always ramble and brainrot about is made by one of my favorites, Godliest Animator of the whole time, Alan Becker! (It is also a part of my childhood btw.) The Mini animated series features 5 stick figures, Second Coming, Blue, Green, Red and Yellow who are created by Alan himself on his computer, the legendary AAA game, Minecraft is also featured in the series. The series' plot basically starts with the Stick figures messing around and playing with the minecraft icon which it then turns to the five venturing deep into the world of minecraft, from a soft or happy story to intense and angsty lore, the series currently contains 3 Seasons and 30 Episodes, it started in the year 2015.

Now I'm gonna talk about the final Episode:

The King [Ep. 30]

Honestly...this has to be the best episodes and one of my favorites from the series itself, Alan and his Animation crew outdone themselves, making the 7-8 months of work and compilation all worth it, all I have to tell them is they did an Epic job and thanks to them, the episode was possible to be made, I thank all of them, including Alan for making this series, its already like the series we see on our local TVs, but this is different. There are no voices, nor dialogues, but just Stickfigures, movements, perspectives and beautiful music, and an epic Tale of 5 stickfigures.

I also had no idea King Neo/Orange's background was like that, what DJ (Alan's friend) said from the commentary was true, "Every villain is actually a hero in their own stories/head", yes, just look at how Orange hated minecraft because of the test gameplay and glitch that happened which caused his son's/sibling's demise, he just wanted to get his son back, unfortunately King can't because his beloved one is already dead. (maybe.)

The glitch scene, specifically THIS scene

This. Shocked me. It reminded me so much of Pibby apocalypse. I was screaming "NOOOOO" while the video progressed, look at Orange :(, much worse, HE SAW HIS OWN BELOVED ONE DIE AT THE FRONT OF HIS VERY OWN EYES!!! I MEAN- WHO WOULDNT BE ON DESPAIR SEEING THAT? YOUR LOVED ONE, MEETING THEIR DEMISE INFRONT OF YOUR VERY OWN EYES!! My goodness...ALL I CAN SAY THIS IS VERY GOOD, SNACKABLE ANGST HMHMHMHMUHEHHE. The quality of the animation was so good too! The series really became an anime in a matter of time lmao-

next up, when Orange planned how to destroy minecraft, I saw some scientific formulas there which activated nightmare fuels..hahahhehe. Mans really doing everything just to get his son back :(

When Purple saw that Orange was looking for the colored stickfigures (because he saw them playing minecraft at one of the local tvs in the city, he figured out they might know where the minecraft icon is and help him destroy it.), Purple went to Orange, telling him that he has already met them. Proving that, Purple did some fighting moves, but Orange didnt respond, Next, Purple pulled up and elytra which was from minecraft and equipped it, flew up and away with a firework and Orange finally responded and took him in.

Finally, the fight scene. Purple punching King Orange was kinda satisfying after that betrayal, but the staff was stolen by Orange once again so their plan to catch King Orange failed-

HEROBRINE MADE A FRICKING APPEARANCE LMFAO I WAS ROFL SO HARD BECAUSE MANS WAS JUST DODGING LIKE THE ZERO TWO MEME 😭😭 ALSO. He possessed red again, that also shocked me, i was shouting "EPISODE ONE FLASHBACK?!?!?!" I JUST- AUSHEJEHWN ITS TOO EPICLY AMAZING AND FANTASTIC

the movements were also clear to see, I wonder how many animators animated every single stickfigure and mob in there to make the movements-

ENDGAME PART OR WHERE THE WHITE THINGY- VOID THING GOT STRONGER FROM THE STAFF, I STARTED TO STIM SO HARD BECAUSE IT WAS SO GOOD AND INTENSE, CUE THE MUSIC AND GRAPHIC, LOOK AT THE 6 STICKFIGURES GOING ONE BY ONE TO THE KING TRYING TO STOP HIM FROM DESTROYING MINECRAFT,, THEY WERE PUT IN THE WHITE VOID AND THAT CAUSED THEM TO GLITCH! THEN-THEN-

Purple stood up and ran to King Orange, he countered the white void, reaching his hand to the King, this activated Flashbacks of the tragic Past, Purple struggling similar to Orange's son struggling to get out of the glitch. and when Purple gave up, Orange put the staff down and ran to Purple, he then realized that he was doing the same thing that Minecraft did to his son. He also realized Purple was the only one who understands him, who was with him through his plan and is like his beloved one, He also jumped in to the void to get Purple as his memories of him betraying Purple flashed, but Purple dissapeared to particles as Orange also dissapeared..

ALSO! SECOND COMING'S QUICK THINKING WORKED, SAVING EVERYONE OMFG I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!

The way they did everything together just to stop minecraft from getting destroyed..the audacity of these 5 stick figures, I love them and their friendship so much!

And now the part that really made me scream.

This scene.

I know some actually dislike the ship, King Orange x Purple because their relationship is more of a Father and Son dynamic, but for me and as one of the ones liking their dynamic, I actually cried when they hugged..King Orange is the new Father Purple needed, and Purple is the new son King Orange needed. I cried so much at this part, being happy because they finally realized they needed each other to fill the hole in their hearts. NOT TO MENTION THE DRAMATIC MUSIC HOLY GDOSYQJHWJQHWMAHAKH

anon frēond asked for Sergio/Raquel and it took too long because i always overthink things sorry.

1. What made you ship it?

the tipping point at which i went from “ah, yes, the narrative is leading me to believe these people will be romantically involved” to “Help, I Am Emotionally Compromised By These People Being In The Same Scene And/Or Talking To Each Other” was when raquel tells sergio about her husband’s abuse in 1x04. raquel is just so vulnerable and real and brave and earnest, and then so utterly surprised by this complete stranger not only believing her but also offering to help her. and obviously the dramatic irony is that we know it’s part of the con, except double dramatic irony because it’s also very much not part of the con. while the professor might have come up with the idea of approaching the inspector as salva to get close to her, sergio is the one who’s beginning to realise just how much he’s underestimated this woman. she’s not just a chess piece to him anymore, not just inspector murillo, but a whole person who’s suffered and continues to suffer under the same system he’s trying to fight.

his face when she puts her hand over his just does something to me. he reminds me of a domesticated animal that’s not feral but also isn’t used to human contact. when someone touches an animal like that, its reaction is exactly like sergio’s: freezing, surprise, confusion. usually the animal will very slowly start to relax when it realises there’s no ill intent in the touch. sergio doesn’t get to that stage because ángel interrupts them, alas. but the way sergio then yanks his hand back as if he’s done something wrong is a very interesting reaction in and of itself. and we know raquel is also feeling some things because when he pulls away, she looks confused and hurt until she notices ángel. (does it seem like i’ve watched the scene many times? because i’ve watched the scene many times.)

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

as i wrote recently: if you'd told me back in november that i'd become deeply emotionally invested in a relationship that starts off with subterfuge and deceit, then progresses into them chaining each other to pipes and holding one another at gunpoint, finally culminating in the promise of happily ever after, i would've rolled my eyes hard enough to sprain them. on paper the premise is so far away from what i value in relationships (equality, trust, a complete lack of stalking), that if i'd known about it i probably would've never watched the show.

and i’m so glad i did watch it because it’s one of those rare examples of how good writing makes the unexpected compelling. the very relationship dynamics i ordinarily don’t like are exactly what i love about this ship entirely because of the complexity and nuance of their treatment. trust is my #1 favourite thing and the story of sergio and raquel’s relationship is nothing less than a tour de force exploration of trust in all its permutations. they’re two damaged people who are caught unawares by a bond that grabs them and won’t let go. they have this instinctive level of trust in each other right from the start, and even in their worst moments together, even when they don’t believe they can trust each other, they want to, and even when the trust seems broken, on some deep unconscious level it remains intact. i have a lot of feelings about this!

(like, okay, it’s entirely deliberate that their first conversation in 1x02 and their final conversation in 2x08 both include the question “can i trust you?” and are essentially the complete opposite of each other in every single aspect. just those two exchanges in and of themselves represent an entire essay about the characters and the journey of their relationship mediated through the concept of trust, and i’m such a nerd that i could actually write that essay because i live for this stuff.)

my #2 favourite thing is a woman arriving in a guy’s life and tearing it wide open then mending it just by existing. that pretty much describes every f/m ship i’ve ever had and these two are a particularly concentrated and superb example of the genre. also lbr they are Very Pretty together.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

honestly, i don’t feel that i know enough about the popular opinions in LCDP fandom to know what’s unpopular. one thing that i’ve noticed, though, at least in a lot of fic i’ve encountered, is the idea that sergio should have punished alberto in some way in order to avenge raquel. for me that’s a hard no. whether or not sergio has thought the situation through, or just instinctively understands it, the fact that he doesn’t take it upon himself to take any action against alberto post-heist is absolutely the best thing he could do for raquel. an abusive relationship strips you of your self-worth, your autonomy, your confidence in your ability to make good decisions. so as difficult and painful as it is for raquel to have to handle all the alberto-related shit herself, someone else just sweeping in and “fixing” it for her (without her knowledge or consent) would simply be another instance in which she’s deprived of control of her own life. now, if at some point sergio asked her if she wanted him to do something about alberto and she said yes, that would be absolutely fine because she’s in charge of making the decision herself. but taking that opportunity away from her is exactly what alberto did and, no matter how well-intentioned sergio’s actions would be, ultimately it’s the same thing.

6. What’s their favorite [insert anything] that they’ve never recommended to anyone before?

despite what he may look or act like he is actually almost always open for cuddles or communal napping, since that’s one thing i headcanon miqo’te societies do a lot. from what he had observed however, people living outside the traditional tribes and from other races don’t seem to do that at all, so he didn’t mention it, even though he DID miss it...

after papalymo’s death though he went ‘fuck it’ and just dragged the twins and tataru to make a cuddle pile, which was a surprising success once alisaie stopped trying to escape. they just need to see the light apparently! they don’t know! the twins have been getting the brunt of this, and have managed to actually get somewhat used to it, even if they find it a bit embarrasing...

9. Do they give tough love or gentle love most often? Which do they prefer to receive?

giving: a mix of both actually. for example he will let the twins fight and fail and make stupid mistakes as long as there was no damage done, but when he saw them again in the First he also gave them a crushing hug that lifted them off the ground and purred their ears off in public. he will give thoughtful gifts that must have taken very long to make with no comment, and risk his life for people he likes without batting an eye while also poking fun at them constantly, but just saying words directly would however never occur to him

receiving: if he likes you he will take your fond gestures and touch with no problem, but would feel very taken aback over receiving sincere spoken declarations of affection and would really prefer if you would not say that kind of thing out loud. what’s wrong with you *flees*

10. What fact do they excitedly tell everyone about at every opportunity?

someone: *explaining something* mitr’a: oh so like [highly disturbing/niche nature/mineral reference that remains unclear in how it relates to the situation at hand]. interesting someone: what

16. What kinds of people do they have arguments with in their head?

people who ask for his help in whatever capacity and then don’t listen to his professional advice tend to get long, furious internal rants. yes ma’am i promise you that ‘cat’ was indeed a coeurl that will eat your face off in a few years no i am not *grits teeth* making it up. yes. yes. i see. die then.

he does also speak out loud sometimes when alone to sound out ideas... though less lately with all these fucking peepers everywhere

21. What common etiquette do they disagree with? Do they still follow it?

superfluous titles. if he can’t call someone by their name (if he likes them) or their actual job (if he doesn’t), then he avoids addressing them at all. in stories titles are good and fine, but he’s not wasting brain cells on remembering some irrelevant noble’s ten titles they may or may not deserve when he could spend them on anything else. this does mean he speaks to people like the Actual Sultana with ‘You’ and ‘Nanamo’ which has caused some incidents. the accent does sometimes help as a ready excuse of being ~foreign~

the fact he actually uses the crystal exarch’s complete title (with faintly noticeable glee even!) made urianger’s eyebrow wiggle and IS making y’shtola’s paranoia rise to new heights. what does it mean

(as an addendum, he also tries to avoid saying most ishgardian names as often as he can because he simply can’t pronounce them correctly. this includes the twins’ surname)

27. What’s the worst gift they ever received? How did they respond?

why does everyone keep giving him mammets of dead people in remembrance? what is he supposed to do with them? is it disrespectful if he never activates them? is it disrespectful if he does? where does he put these now. he might have buried them in some remote hideout so he could stop thinking about it

so those scenes were just him smiling stiffly at urianger and count edmont, and putting this down under ‘ritual purposes(insane?)’ in his mental notes

56. If they’re scared, who do they want comfort from? Does this answer change depending on the type of fear?

his usual reaction to fear is to fight, so comfort is not exactly high in the list of priorities at those times. slower, more insidious fears tend to worsen his mood for lack of a better way to deal with them. curling up somewhere safe and dark may be required until they pass or he can work through them

thing is, the relationship he has with the scions (about 3 years now in shadowbringers) and the people of the botanist guild (5 years) are the longest constant connections he’s had since he was 14 and left his original clan to wander on his own permanently. it’s not like he lost all contact with his family or didn’t make friends in other clans, he saw them a couple times a year at least while he made his rounds! but it just isn’t quite the same. due to this he doesn’t expect comfort from anyone, beyond maybe the comfort he has discovered that comforting others gives him.

so, for wants... who, really?

Hamilton- a review and a shoutout to my current favorite musical

hi! just got done with my mid-semester exams this week and thought I would start by recommending a musical I absolutely loved (yes I’ve been on a musical kick, I blame my cousin).

Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda is musical comprising of AMAZING soundtracks that I re-listen entirely every couple of days (I wish I was kidding) with the music spanning over genres of hip-hop, rap, musical theatre and more.

Just a note before I go into more about why I loved it- this is not a play made with the intention of depicting history. Yes, it draws from historical events and has historical figures as the main characters but the fact remains that it is a musical, and not intended to have a political message glorifying things like slavery. I will say that it while it does not forgoe looking at the themes of feminism and slavery and does have references to them, it in no way focuses on them and therefore might have the unintended consequence of glorifying figures like Thomas Jefferson and George Washington who owned slaves and such. If you plan on watching this musical, do go into it with this information.

About the musical

Hamilton is the epic saga that follows the rise of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton as he fights for honour, love, and a legacy that would shape the course of a nation. It is based on Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography and has the themes of romance, honour, war, revolutions, adultery, politics and more.

Why I loved it

Did I mention I absolutely ADORED the songs? Because I'm obsessed with each and every one of them. The way you can read into them and how each song can be seen as a build-up for the next and how later songs reference lines from the earlier songs- it's frankly amazing and so cool.

Speaking of the songs, I loved that this was essentially just music and continuous beats. The conversations followed a pattern and more often than not, ended up being part of the songtrack itself. While I do love musicals that have songs and then periods of just dialogue in-between where 'the plot thickens' (imagine with the hand gesturing and air of mystery, please tell me someone knows what I'm talking about); all the plot advancing needed in Hamilton is mainly included in the tracks (hell, an entire Cabinet debate is a rap battle) and I adore this form of storytelling. It's also another reason I love re-listening to all the songs, since I know exactly what part of the musical it's from and what's going on in that number.

Moving on to the characters- I loved that none of them were glorified but still given human qualities such you can find them tolerable and want to listen to what they are saying. That's not to say I like most of them as historical figures (I decidedly do not). But they were all so distinct here- in their personalities, their style of talking, their general demeanor and more- that it played a large part in how their contasting characters fit into the story so seamlessly. A huge shoutout to the cast for that, I absolutely loved how they embodied their characters.

Let me end with saying the way the story is written and portrayed is incredible. It goes in a linear timeline and have so many cool elements to it that you can't take your eyes away from the scene. There are so many different ways to look at every scene and… well, I could go on but it's safe to say I'm in love with this musical. (My favorite songs are Wait For It and Burn and my favorite scene has to be the whole rewind scene with Angelica Schuylur and the characters of Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr and King George III HAVE to be my favorite because I honestly laughed out loud every time I saw some of their expressions and the lines that went with them.)

All-in-all, I recommend watching this musical with all my heart! I loved it and would a thousand percent rate it 5 stars.

OUAT Thoughts Pt.46--Episodes 5-6

I have watched through S5E6; spoilers DNI. Also, spoiler warning for those further behind than I am.

—Before we started episode 5, my mom and I were discussing (I say discussing, but it was more like a collective brain-crash) which was our favorite character and which was the one we most vibe with. Neither of us came up with a vibe, although I’m sure I could and would end up very annoyed with myself for the result, but her favorite is Regina and mine is Rumple. These two episodes have only cemented it. He’s just so terribly well-written that I can’t help adoring him. I’d love to know other people’s opinions on either of those, but with my usual caveat: if it involves spoilers for future seasons, I’d still be happy to hear it, but only after I’ve gotten past that point myself.

—That faceless Dark One was a bomb-ass design. That mask was amazing.

—Merlin is gorgeous. I was expecting some old beardy guy, but I much prefer the Sorcerer who actually showed up. And his cloak is awesome. I’m a sucker for cool embroidery.

—Speaking of good clothes and gorgeous people, Regina got a new red dress in Camelot that I am absolutely loving. It’s a different fabric, the shade of red is different (I actually think it’s a shade that’s better suited to her skin tone), and the embellishments are laid out differently. She’s fr not my type in Storybrooke or in any Evil Queen clothes except the outstanding riding habits, but in Camelot she just hits different.

—When Henry set up that date with Violet at Granny’s, I spent the scene thinking about how good her costuming is. My mom’s main takeaway was, ‘if he really liked her, he would’ve poured her Coke instead of Pepsi.’ Which is true. Ain’t no soda like a classic Coke.

—At the midpoint of…episode 5, I think? I thought Henry and Violet were going to be a cool example of how different circumstances could inspire different relationships between the same people—but no, it was so much worse. I’m still waiting to find out what Emma’s motives or goals are, but if she’s justifying hurting Henry for them, she’s definitely up to no good.

—Swaggy that the Charmings know not to trust Arthur in Storybrooke. I was starting to get worried about how long they would be ignorant.

—Also, at this point the Charmings may from time to time include Regina (and Robin; she gets a plus-one) and Hook.

—Emma’s dreamcatcher garage is a scary place.

—When Rumple was reunited with Belle, that stuff he said really got to me. This is legitimately beyond words for me, but suffice it to say I do believe one person can be enough to keep you in the world. Whoever wrote what Rumple said about not letting go because he heard Belle’s voice must believe that too, because you can’t write words that real without one or both of experience and belief.

—Merida. Honey. Sweetheart. Light of my life. That splitting the arrow trick is cool, but you can’t reuse those. Conserve your ammo.

—Okay, so there’s some new backstory for Merida that works better than just the other clans not wanting a queen. Having her fight in a war alongside her father is a cool story bit, and the fact that her aim wavering on the battlefield is what led to the other clans doubting her is a stronger concept.

—She should’ve been a ginger bear. ✨for the vibes✨

—Kinda sad that the teacup is broken. That thing’s been important to me almost as long as it’s been important to Rumple and Belle.

—You know what, Belle has gotten mighty picky. She doesn’t like Rumple when he’s the Dark One, she doesn’t like Rumple when he’s his natural self, and yet around other people she goes on and on about how she’s not giving up on him. Yes, he’s probably his best self now that he’s faced up to his fears, but at some point Belle might want to consider that she doesn’t truly love him. Barely any version of him is good enough for her, which I think says more about her feelings about him than it does about those other versions of him.

—For a while I’ve been debating with myself about whether I’ve wanted Rumple to change so he could be with Belle (which you’ve seen some of the results of already in this review), and I’ve finally reached my major conclusion. I want Rumple to change for himself—not because I particularly dislike him one way or the other or because I don’t think he’s good enough in my opinion or someone else’s—but because I want him to be a person that *he* can be proud of. I want Rumple to be able to look himself in the mirror and like that man. That’s why this personal journey is so satisfying; I’m invested in him for his sake, not for the sake of the people around him.

—I got so many goosebumps when Rumple pulled Excalibur! 😍 *weeps with joy* And I think the best part is that he made a deal with Emma for someone else. Instead of just pulling Excalibur, or refusing to pull it, he only did it in exchange for Merida’s freedom. That is a beautiful counterpoint to the Dark One he used to be and I am entirely here for it.

—Y’all, I think this might be the version of Rumple I’ve wanted to see since the fourth season. He fierce.

BUT ABSOLUTELY!!! Imagine Mama Leech approaching them like a sophisticated lady, making such comments that just due to her tone of voice and the look in her eyes have MC blushing and trembling in fear and shyness

The mature woman promptly pushed past her son, taking a gander at the human who was with him. She remained silent, eyes shifting from MC to Sebek, so on and so forth... until...

A proud smile brightened her face, “Ah, my little Crocodile is following along Mama’s path~💕” While her son and husband let out a surprised babble of words at her insinuation.

Malleus’ Grandmother... A figure that has everyone bowing with her mere presence in a room

“Grandmother, this is a very important person I want you to meet.” It was strange of Malleus to be this eager, let alone about someone.

The Queen (she’s the current queen of VoT right? aaa) walked along her grandson, holding onto his arm as he led the way to a... rundown building?

“Ah! Tsunotarou, hello!” A human greeted them. “O-Oh!” They bowed hurriedly at the regal presence that accompanied their friend today. “P-leasure to meet you, your Highness.”

A look of utter surprise crossed her face, “Malleus..! A.. human?!” The tense atmosphere made MC straighten up and nervously look at the fae in front of them. “And that nickname?! Young one, do you know who you are speaking to?!” Anger flashed in her eyes as she addressed MC.

“Yes, they do.” The crown prince stepped in, shielding MC behind him, “And I allow them to use that nickname... After all, fae can’t lend their name, or can we?” She remained on defense, giving her grandson’s friend a disparaging look.

"They were lost, and so was I... Along the way, we found each other. This is a friendship I treasure with all my being, and you have been a very important figure through my life... Would you give them a chance?” He tried to bargain.

The Queen kept her stance, looking at the human, who smiled uncertainly and waved at her. Strangely, she felt no threat coming from them, only warmth, a feeling of being welcomed. Her heart was filled with that warmth for a moment.

Clearing her throat, she relaxed. “Very well, only for you, Malleus... So, who must your friend be?”

The bright ray of sunshine bounded up to MC, with an equally as bright couple behind him. “[Name], [Name]! Come here! I want you to meet my parents!” Kalim took their hand and quickly dragged them over to where his parents were.

“Mom, dad! This is [Name]! They arrived at NRC unexpectedly, but I very much enjoy their presence and companionship!” That toothy grin so characteristic of him found his way on his lips.

MC bowed slightly in greeting. “A pleasure to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Asim!”

The older couple shared a look before coming up to MC, with the man shaking their hand and the woman pinching their cheek. “Hello there, young one! Kalim seems to be very fond of you! Say, would you mind joining the family? I’m certain Kalim approves!” His father hurriedly spoke.

“H-Huh?! What?!” MC could only accept their coddling and affection as they blushed and looked at their white haired friend for help... But he was busy blushing himself~

Leona is NOT AT ALL happy to have his family visit him in the ONE PLACE where he’s away from them

"Leona-ojitan! [Nickname]!" The little bundle of joy sprinted the pair's way, eliciting a groan from the 3rd year.

"Not that brat again." Leona rubbed his temple.

MC giggled, "C'mon, Cheka isn't that bad! I can take care of him."

"Brother!" Now, that certainly startled MC... Because not only was the exclaimed name all there was, no no, a redheaded lion beastman wrapped his arms around Leona's torso from behind and lifted him some centimeters off the ground. "Long time no see, Leona! Isn't it wonderful that your school's holding a Family Day?! As soon as we got word of it, we came to visit!"

"Fareena... Put. Me. DOWN." Savanaclaw's dorm head growled. Thankfully, the overexcitable man followed through, laughing at his brother's antics.

"[Nickname], can you see how much I've grown since last time! I'm half a centimeter taller!" Cheka giggled as he climbed up MC's leg, ultimately reaching his goal to be carried by them.

"A-Ah, that's wonderful!" They laughed awkwardly at the kid.

The cub was removed from their person by someone. "Apologies, dear, Cheka can be a handful sometimes." A lioness woman smiled gently at you. "Tell them you're sorry, Cheka. You know better than to use people as jungle gyms."

The boy became crestfallen, ears flattening as he fumbled with his fingers. "Sowwy, Mx. [Name], I shouldn't have done that."

MC chuckled a bit. "Apology accepted."

"So you must be this mystery person Cheka rambled about after spectating the Magift tournament." An older woman approached, pinching the child's cheek.

"Yes yes, gramma! [Nickname] played with me when I visited ojitan! They're my other favorite friend here at NRC, they took great care of me!"

At that, both lionesses perked up. Even Fareena approached the circle after his boy spoke so fondly of MC right now.

"Oh, I see~" The younger of the two ladies giggled, accompanied by Fareena's loud laughter.

Leona had a look of utter terror at what was going to be said next. Eyes wide, ears flat, he looked ready to run away from the scene at a moment's notice.

Who they assumed to be Leona's mother approached MC, placing a hand on their shoulder. "A natural ability with kids... Son!" She looked at leona now, who flinched at her call, "I see you've chosen a great mate!"

As MC and Leona were taken into a family hug, they only remained stunned as the words completely registered in their minds.

Oh, I absolutely agree with that!! The atmosphere with Riddle's mother and Jamil's parents will be HELLA TENSE

If anything, I feel MC would potentially get along with Jamil's younger sister, enjoying the friendly banter they have as siblings. But even more so, liking how Jamil shows he cares and how he genuinely smiles while his sister is with him.

I feel she'd also tell him in private:

"So~, that friend of yours..."

Jamil only raised an eyebrow at her words, leading her to sigh, "[Name]! The magicless prefect!"

"Uh-huh, what about them?" The boy inquired, wanting to hear her say it earnestly and not go the "you know what I'm talking about" way.

"Yeah... I think they're pretty cool..." Jamil smiled slightly. "Oh, what's that~? I knew you seemed way too close!" She chuckled after noticing the tiniest change in his expression.

The brunet ruffled her hair, "Nothing, it's nothing at all..."

"Say the one with a lovestruck face!"

Damian Wayne Anime Headcanons

First anime he watched was Attack on Titan. Since then, he made his own ODM gear, using the grappling hook mechanism and a few other stuff. He tested it out on training and was successful. He doesn’t use it much in patrol but he does in missions, especially those that include mountain climbing.

Jason made him a personalized bookshelf for his manga collection. Since he doesn’t want people to know he likes anime and manga, he was more than grateful when Jason made him a shelf that can be hidden into the walls.

Damian doesn’t know Your Lie in April exists. The Titans do their best to make sure he doesn’t find it. They just know for a fact he wouldn’t be able to handle it.

Dick got him the whole OHSHC manga set. He cried in a lot of chapters and ended up marking a few of them to make notes. He relates a lot to Kaoru, no, I will not elaborate.

He read and watched Demon Slayer with Raven, as ironic as that was. But he did have a lot of questions if some of the rules on demon biology were actually real and relates to Raven.

The Titans keep saying he and Bakugo were a lot alike as a joke. But when they watched it and got to Season 3 and watched the end of Bakugo and Deku’s fight scene, they looked at him and thought, “Shit-”

The boys convinced him to go to an anime convention. Jaime went as a Survey Corp, Damian even gave him permission to use the ODM gear but not actually use it. Conner was went as Todoroki. Wally went as Rock Lee. Garfield went as Ash Ketchum. And Damian went as Tanjiro Kamado. Yes, he used his actual sword. And I personally would like to headcanon that he used his old assassin’s uniform, just altered a bit.

Damian stopped patrolling for a week because of one anime and it’s manga. He couldn’t get over it so he got pulled from the Titans so he can take a break. Even back in Gotham, he couldn’t patrol. He couldn’t function properly. This went on for an entire 2 weeks before he got back into patrol little by little. So by now, you might be thinking, what manga and anime could do such a thing? …Banana Fish

He says his favorites are action animes but, we all know he’s more precious than that. He only watches his favorites when he sleeps over with Jon, which are Studio Ghibli animes. His current favorite is My Neighbor Totoro

After he watched a Silent Voice, he got a lot more closer to Cass. They would talk to each other using the sign languages of other countries. Can be Korean, Japanese or even Russian but they mostly use Chinese sign language.

He could care less if he watches Sub or Dub. This boy watches it without subtitles. He even goes as far as to watch it in dub of other languages.

They keep him away from anything pervy. This includes ecchi like Kakegurui, High School DxD, Kill la Kill, and the like or h3nt@i entirely.

Damian is not afraid to go further. He knows what manhwa and manhua is. He doesn’t know why but he’s more interested in BL/GL romance manhwas than straight ones. He’s already read the ones commonly talked about, like BJ Alex, Painter of the Night, Back to School, Love or Hate (he completely lashed out on that one) and others.

On their anniversary, Damian made Jon this specific night light. Jon actually cried. He loved it very much. The next time they slept over at his house, Jon would set it up and actually fall asleep to it.

He painted one side of his room the Kimi No Na Wa Twilight Scene. Garfield regrets showing him the anime because the painting looked so realistic and that scene always made him cry.

Their greatest regret is introducing Damian to…*horror theme* Fanfiction. With the help of Raven and Donna and a little nudge by Dick, he started reading them off of sites like ao3, wattpad, fanfiction.net and the like.
