omg. this is the one im currently rotating in my brain. im SO VERY obsessed with it.

(im going to ramble so badly here lol pls dont feel you have to read it all but im VERY excited by this au)

ok so. ive been rereading the winter soldier comics. starting from the first reveal of him in captain america onwards. i feel like everyone knows about the 'who the hell is bucky scene' which is a real heartstopper but omg. there are so many moments that didnt make it in to the films. theres just so much feeling there and i see a huge paralell between a lot of stuff bucky goes through and the clones origin.

i'd seen winter soldier au's with various clones before, but there was always something missing for me. on my reread of the comics i realised what it was. the being out of time. finding yourself in the future unexpectedly. having to adapt. getting used to being alone. and then realising you arent. realising that someone you failed to save is here. is still maybe capable of being saved. is such a huge part for me. thats the driver of so much emotion.

and i realised that there IS a part of star wars that makes me feel kinda similar. Kix's story. Kix finds himself waking up in a galaxy that has moved on. theres no room for him anymore. he was once a part of something, but now he isnt. he's never been alone before, but now he is, without question. he is the last of his kind. and after he finds out what happened, his identity as a medic is really threatened. his job was to heal his brothers, to save them. but when it mattered, he couldnt.

so then i started thinking. what would it be like for kix, facing this reckoning, having faced it for a while. finding himself a place in this new world, beginning to fight the first order. beginning to move on from something thats really quite impossible to ever truly move on from. what would it be like for him to face what steve rogers does in those comics?

for anyone that doesnt know, steve and buckys stories in the comics are slightly different. they are brought together because captain america needs a sidekick. they dont know each other before. and bucky is pretty much a kid at the time. he's 16. steve becomes like his older brother as they fight in ww2 with a superhero group called the invaders (pretty much like the avengers) against nazi superheroes and the like, unitil, just at the end of the war, they get captured. steve watches bucky being tortured, he cant stop it, and then when they escape, bucky sacrifices himself. the last thing steve sees before he gets frozen is bucky, just out of steves reach, unable to be saved after sacrificing himself for their cause. steve is awake in the ice in the comics. he has all those years to dwell on it, and when he gets out, the world has moved on and its far far too late to save anyone he knew.

buckys backstory has some real similarities with the clones. he grows up on a military camp, his dad dies when he's like 12 and he ends up staying as a kind of camp mascot. he grows up in the army. violence is every day for him. its all he knows. and when he gets recruited as captain americas sidekick. its all about the image. he is a propaganda tool. there to look like a kid so that other kids want to join up, but trained to be a killer. he is there to do the dirty work that captain america cant be seen doing. he's an assasin from the start. deadly efficient.

buckys return in the comics is delicious. it comes out of nowhere, to the reader and to steve rogers. he has been living in this new world and has accepted that noone will ever really understand him. anyone that survived ww2 looks at it with rose tinted glasses, but in a lot of ways to steve, he's still there. and then comes the winter soldier, a cold war relic, woken up to meet someone elses aims. in a lot of ways, it echos how steve has been working for america, putting out fire after fire, since he got out of the ice. the people around steve put the pieces together before he does and when they try and break it to him, he refuses to hear it. he wont look at their evidence. he simply cant. to know that not only could he not save this younger brother figure, but that while he was frozen, powerless, bucky was taken by the enemy and used in the worst kind of way. made to do things he never would have done (a big part of this is that bucky never would have worked against america. his patriotism was a huge part of his character thanks to his upbringing, which his handlers knew and found pretty funny. they used him to fight america because it was ironic). like omg. the paralells there! with the clones being raised to serve the republic, being raised to know nothing but loyalty because alll they knew was the military. and then having chips in their heads force them to do the last thing they ever would have done? again and again?

steve refuses to believe that its bucky. but we begin to see that he knows. he's just in denial. he fights the winter soldier and we have the 'who the hell is bucky moment' and then, his denial is shattered in the worst possible way. a dossier is delivered to him holding records from the winter soliders handlers from the start. he has to see the cold and impersonal documentation of the ppl that ripped his brother, his best friend, from death (from peace) so that he could be used against his country. he'd forgotten everything about who he was, all he had was the muscle memory of this fight. he could still fight. he was still a killer. these files document a kind of sick amusement from his handlers at his situation. his drs talk about him like he's an object for testing. (there are so many paralels here with the kamineese, palpatine, jango and how they treat the clones). worse than this. the files show that even without his memory, bucky fought them. during a mission in america he dropped off the radar, confused and lost, but trying to find something of himself. at this point they start wiping his memory after each mission and keeping him in stasis. he is no more than a tool. the whole thing is heart wretching. i know the movie version touched a lot of ppls hearts but. oh my god. it doesnt even touch the surface.

that feeling. those vibes. are the backbone of this au.

kix is beginning to move on. and then, the first order pull out the winter soldier. kix fights him and he's caught. because this stranger, decades after the last clone died, fights just like a clone. and against his will kix is just. pulled in. it feels like one last link to his brothers. he needs to know who trained this assasin. he needs to know more. this guy is like a ghost. the more he finds out the further he feels from any answers. what he finds. well none of it fits together. this guy has been doing this for decades. is he the first winter soldier? was he the one trained by a clone or was that his predecessor? his predecessors predecessor. kixs new war continues, as he investigates. this is simply a side quest. research to resolve his own curiosity.

and then, kix is fighting yet another battle. and in comes this guy. and as they fight, it gets to the point where its just kix and this assasin and the guys mask falls off. and he's a clone. and its an impossibility. its not something kix ever let himself imagine. how can there possibly be a clone here? how can he possibly be so young. he's hardly physically older than kix, in statis all these years, and the guy runs and kix is left. just. shellshocked. he goes back to his research. it doesnt make any sense.

time passes and kix realises who this winter soldier is. he knows him. not only that. he knows exactlly how they are controlling him. its the chips. the chips that kix was unable to save his brothers from. he woke up here and he thought it was too late for anything. his brothers long dead. him, unable to save any of them. he's a medic but he was not enough. yet. here is a chance. a chance at redemption. a brother, just one, that still needs saving. that kix has a chance of saving. and if he does. its someone that will understand. someone who knows what it is to be a clone. someone who knows what it is to wake up in a new galaxy, after years of stasis against your own will. its a chance.

the story deals with kix trying to face this. the whole thing is just like. emotional turmoil. he's given himself a impossible task. he's trying to save someone that does not want saving and very much wants to kill kix. in doing so he's having to face all this trauma and shit he had just accepted living with. and even worse. he gets to see a chipped clone in action. the lack of self preservation, the lack of control. kix gets to see what it would have been like for every one of their brothers. and he has to face that. its a journey thats kinda agonising. lots to face up to. lots to be dealt with. bad situation all round.

im so sorry for how long ive rambled but. oh my god im so utterly obsessed with this. its taken root in side me. the idea. the thought of them. gives me a feeling in my chest thats just. beyond words.

What would Bucky do if while he was on a mission Hydra shipped Sparrow to a new facility across the country or gave her the illusion of freedom by sticking her in SHIELD working right under Hydras leader (she doesnt even try to escape, Hydra gave her to the good guys, who put her up in a nice place gave her a job, etc. Though she might recognize Pierce... and Rumlow/the rest of STRIKE team) OMG what if the events that unfolded at SHIELD in Winter Soldier was not cause he was on a mission to stop the Avengers he was looking for his Sparrow, but then he sees Steve and he got punished for remembering him so he blames him for losing Sparrow & failing his last mission to get rid of him.... 😧😨😩

Anywho, I'm sorry, this was meant to be short & sweet and became something else entirely as I started writing.

That's tough, nonnie! I think if they shipped Sparrow away under the illusion of freedom, she wouldn't accept or want it because her Soldat isn't free. She would do whatever she could to get back to him. The only way to assure she'd comply if they wanted her to work for S.H.I.EL.D. would be to stick her in the chair and scramble her brain.

But even then, how long before she starts remembering her other half?

As far as the events changing because Soldat is looking for his Sparrow? Well...we may just see something happen in the upcoming parts.

EVERYTHING WE KNOW ABOUT THE MCU PHASE 5 (SDCC)

Soo theres a lot to discuss, lets get going shall we

Idk if the Guardians christmas special is still happening/is canon/is a part of phase 5, finishing phase 4 on black panther makes a lot of sense but at the same time, starting the next phase with a special doesn't

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

This movie will see the main group of heroes travel into the quantum realm and battle Kang

We dont know if Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) and Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) are returning (please give us some news about ghost homegirl has been waiting for them to return from the quantum realm for 5 years)

Kang (Jonathan Majors) is set to appear and to have some very cold lines about fighting the avengers in other universes

"Have i killed you before?" that's an amazing line right there yup

Modok will appear, however his appearance will be more metallic rather than the human face he has in the comic probably to avoid an uncanny valley moment (*cough * strange's 3rd eye)

Cassie Lang (Cathryn Newton) will appear as stinger. Her relationship with Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) will be explored as they struggle to connect given that Scott didn't see her grow up. (Paul Rudd seems to have debunked the rumor that Scott will be rich and famous and that will make him loose touch with his daughter, however, the rumor that he published a book has been confirmed)

There are rumors that Scott will die in this movie (pls stop)

The director also teased some unexpected cameos, and said the movie will change the MCU as a whole

Secret Invasion

Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) is confirmed to return (slay) as well as Rhodey (big slay)

QUAKE (CHLOE FRICKING BENNET) is rumored to return (chloe liked some twitter posts about her being in secret invasion and she is rumored to have signed a contract with marvel)

The series is rumored to be a political espionnage thriller with the same vibes as The Winter Soldier

We dont know how much of the Kree-Skrull war we will get to see as the series will likely be mostly set on earth

Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.3

This film is 'the end of the guardians era' for James Gunn, its likely the last Guardians movie HOWEVER that doesnt mean they will all die and cant appear in future projects

Drax (Dave Bautista) is rumored to die however (hot take: i don't really care about him and i never found him that funny)

The movie will have the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) as one of its villains, and we will probably see how he experimented on Rocket Racoon (Bradley Cooper)

Baby Rocket is also there!!!!!

Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) will return and is rumored to have Goldenish skin

No trailer yet because the VFX isnt finished (that feels like a jab at the cgi quality hate the mcu is getting)

Gamora (Zoe Saldana) is rumored to join the ravagers and be as angsty as ever with Star-Lord (Chris Pratt)

Echo

This will be the first MCU-street level series (if you dont count Hawkeye because meh). It will likely be a setup of the mcu street level world so that they dont have to explain it in the Daredevil Series, i just hope the pacing will be ok and not just 6 hours of exposition about this reality

Echo (Alaqua Cox) will obviously return, but so will Daredevil, in his black suit (!!). It is very likely that Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) will also return, given that he was shot by echo in the Hawkeye finale.

Daredevil is rumored to be looking for an old ally, that is rumored to be my baby Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter, marvel if you recast her i sWEAR-)

Loki season 2

Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Sylvie (Sophia di Martino) will return and will be working at McDondald's (???) according to set photos (???)

Part of the show will be set in the seventies as a Bollywood poster featuring Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani) from that town is shown in set photos

Kang will probably appear given that he seems to have took over the TVA at the end of season 1

Mobius (Owen Wilson) will most likely be back

The Marvels

We will see light of my life Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) again

Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) will most likely appear, following his appearance in secret invasion

Part of the movie is rumored to be a musical (why) as the characters end up in a planet where everyone sings. Carol (Brie Larson) is rumored to be married to this planets' leader (queen?) in a very killing eve-esque way

A scene is rumored to be a ship containing Humans, Skrulls and Flurkens (space cats!!!) being attacked (likely by Krees) and the cats gettinf people to safety

We will likely see the Kree empire again

Blade

Oooh another fun project i dont really know what to expect but it will likely be a street-level movie.

Mahershala Ali is rumored to play Blade (big yes), this is his second Marvel role after playing Cottonmouth in Netflix's Luke Cage

Anthony Starr (Homelander from the Boys) is rumored to star as Dracula

Dane Whittman (Kit Harrington) will likely star as the Black Knight after the Eternals post-credit scene featured him with the black sword adn Blade's voice

We might get a Werewolf by night (Gael Garcia Bernal) cameo (if the Halloween special is still a thing) or even a Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac) one (please marvel let me see my emotional support Dilf again)

Ironheart

Nothing much is known about the project, other than it will be centered around Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), that will appear beforehand in Wakanda Forever

There is a rumor that Obadiah Stane's son will appear

The show might revolve around the stole stark tech mentioned in No Way Home

Agatha: Coven of Chaos

The series was renamed (previously titled house of Harkness), we will likely see other witches given the title

They might be teasing Wanda's return (please!!!!!!) as she is the only Chaos Magic wielder in the mcu

The curse Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) put on Agatha (Kathryn Hanh) will most likely be broken after Wanda's DeAtH in MoM

Maybe we get some more information on Ralf Bohner (Evan Peters) or smt because his character in WandaVision was pointless

MePhIsTo.. no but maybe Chton??? since they changed the title to include the world Chaos

Daredevil: Born Again

The series will be 18 episodes long and most likely TV-MA (pls marvel)

Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk will return, and so will Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) most likely

The Punisher is set to return

If the Echo rumors about Jessica Jones are true, she might appear here too

If were lucky we get all of the defenders or even Claire (Rosario Dawson)

It is unclear wether this series will be the fourth season of the original, however it will probably be a soft reboot (the og series still happened so they dont have to explain character motivations and stuff but it wont be referenced

Captain America: New World Order

SAM WILSON (ANTHONY MACKIE) IS CAP, STEVE IS EITHER DECOMPOSING OR ON DEATHBED STOP SAYING HE WILL RETURN AS CAP IT FEELS RACIALLY MOTIVATED

oh and also no bucky (Sebastian Stan) will not be the next cap

he will be in this film tho, most likely and people are speculating wether he will die (i would die with him)

the title is the same as the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly) and his nephew (Elijah Richardson) might return (pls), as well as John Walker (Wyatt Russell) and Zemo (Daniel Bruhl)

Idk why but i feel like this movie will setup the Thunderbolts, like maybe the government realize that a superhearo is more of a PR stunt that someone they cand send on possibly comprosmizing missions, which leads to the cration of this villain team

THUNDERBOLTS

Most likely we will get a tribute to William Hurt (Thaddeus Ross) given he passed away recently

Given that fact, Zemo will most likely be the leader of the team

This basically Marvel's suicide squad so i hope they manage to make the movie different enough

Valentina Allegra (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) will most likely be the one to put the team together and recruit agents.

Yelena (Florence Pugh), Bucky, Abomination (Tim Roth) and Ghost are all likely on the team

Especially ghost because i feel like they put her in Marvel Zombies out of nowhere to remind us of her existence since she wont have a major role in Quantumania

Some characters that are yet to be introduced will be in this movie

So we all know The winter soldier from Marvel, James Bucharan Barnes, Bucky Barnes, White Wolf, Sergeant Barnes right? Great! We know what he went through since zola kidnapped him. Most would say you can not possibly see him as someone to relate too, since no one can go through what he went through- yes i do agree with that but it isnt stopping me from feeling like Bucky sometimes. Mostly The Winter Soldier so "obedient", "loyal", "asset", "quiet".

He doesnt know who he is, neither i know who i am.

He lost his best friend,

And i did too.

This is what everyone went through but sometimes it makes me think, if i kin Bucky/Winter Soldier does that mean my "close one's" are Hydra?

no but imagine like if Steve and Natasha had hooked up like Natasha does the kiss instead of Sharon in civil war and u can contrast it with the kiss in Winter Soldier then they kinda have to be seperated due to civil war fallout rekindle in infinity war tho arent sticking together then they support each other threw things in those 5 years between infinity war and Endgame then in Endgame Hawkeye dies Nat lives and they both retire together at the end of Endgame ( maybe Thanos makes the super soldier serum stop working during final battle Steve doesnt age up but his injuries dont recover as fast and he cant continue hero work Nat retires with him and the back of their heads cameo in TFAWS /CAAWS cookout scene ( and maybe the plot has to change a bit since Steves alive/not on moon but still hits alot of same beats)

Considering that characters like Maria and Sharon were left on the bench so Natasha could be the only “badass government agent”, it’s so dumb this isn’t how things went. What was the point of all this just to decide at the end to backpedal all these movies of character development?

sambucky as parents with a teen bc i love them (alternate title: im projecting again)

they both freak the FUCK out when they their kid is actually growing up and sarah is the only who could deal with them and the fact that her niece is growing up because at this point shes done the like twice now. its also very amusing to watch captain america and the winter soldier have a breakdown because their kid is growing up and sarah is like “yeah thats how that works” but they are not having it because “OH MY GOD SARAH THEY BOUGHT EYELINER???” and sarah needs breaks every hour because oh my god.

The avenger become aunts and uncles and it is the most wholesome thing ever. Bruce and peter would help them with their homework. Thor and valkyrie tell stories from asguard. Wanda watches sitcoms with them, and they have long talks when either of them are stressed out. Carol and hope teach them how to fight, much to the dismay of sam and bucky. Strange and them team up and try to (and succeed, mind you) prove sam and bucky wrong. (ight its time to be SAD)

Imagine, if you will, they have a daughter, and the daughters name is natasha. She never really knew where she got her name from, only whispers of natasha romanoff. She saw her name, heard her name at school, but never really knew who she was. Why she was named after her. So, one day, she asked sam: “dad, where did my name come from?” and sam sits her down, and slowly, he explains who natasha was. How she led the avengers in a time where no one really knew what was going on. Who she was to sam, and who she was to the world. Sam doesnt go into her past too much, just that it was bad. When sam finishes, his voice is as quiet as a whisper. Natasha smiles softly at him, shuffling closer to him, and wrapped her arms around him. “I promise, i’ll do her name justice.” and sam falls apart. Because sam knows she will. He knows that nat would absolutely love this kid. This kid with warm brown eyes and long, dark brown hair that she so desperately wants to chop off and dye blue. This kid who always has a joke or quick remark on her tongue. This kid who cares so much. This kid who sang in the shower, and sang with her father (even if bucky was forcing her to). This kid who never gave up, who got back up on her own since she was 4 years old. This kid, who sam would give his life for, who sam would never forget. Who natasha would absolutely adore. Now, natasha gets little stories about her namesake from clint, and yelena, and scott, and rhodey, and pepper, and her dads. At first, it hurt. It hurt so bad. But, when yelena started telling a story from when they were kids, and natasha smiled wide, her eyes crinkling up. Her laugh that was so innocent, so pure. And yelena smiled too. And it was okay.

Partners. Significant others. Thats when they realize their is grown up. Thats when they realize they dont a million years left with this kid. So they pull out all the stops. Baby photos, videos, old school work from like grade 2. Its glorious. They would be so embarrassing oh my god.

But its not always like that. Bucky retired as soon as they adopted, but sam couldnt. He couldnt. So, when natasha (im sticking to it) grows up a bit, she only known as captain americas daughter. Only known as the girl with the empty seat beside her apologetic looking father at every play. And shes sick of it. She knows its irrational, but she just wants her dad. Thats all shes really ever wanted. One day, she comes home, her eyes rimmed red, and bucky tries to talk to her, but she races up to her room, slamming her door shut. Bucky freezes. He doesnt know what to do. Sams been gone for a week and a bit, and neither of them are taking it well. After an hour, she doesnt come down from her room. Buckys been pacing for the past our. He makes his way up the stairs, and knocks on her door. “Tash?” he hears a sniffle, and shuffling, and the door opens slowly. Shes red eyed, stuffy nose and bucky cant believe he let her hurt like this. “I just need him here.” is all she says, before crashing into bucky. He wants to break down right there, but he doesnt. He wraps his arms around her, until he decides on a plan. They settle on the couch, the star wars theme playing. They ordered pizza, and natasha fell asleep with her head pressed against buckys metal arm. Sam gets home a few hours later. He takes one look at the scene in front of him and realizes how much time he’d missed. How much of his daughter, of his family he had missed. He vows to make sure hes there. To make sure he doesnt miss anymore of the best part of his life.

Madripoor was a vile city to Y/n it looked at lot like Las Vegas. Currently Y/n was looking out the window while Zemo negoated with Selby, while Sam pretended to be someone named Smiling tiger and bucky acted like the winter soldier. Y/n was there having to pretend to be Zemo’s ‘pet’ which no one was very thrilled about. Y/n looked aover at Zemo and he motioned for Y/n to come over to him,

“Komm her liebling,” (English: Come here darling) Y/n sat beside him she didn’t know much of Sacovian language but she knew enought to hod a simple conversation. he put his arm arounf her and whispered “apologies” to her. She had to look smitten with him this wasn’t the first time she had to pretend to be involved wth him she had to under cover when she worked for HYDRA but right now she was doing a pretty good job she had managed to fool Bucky and Sam. Things were going well until Sarah called. Y/n moved a bit closer to Zemo when sam was told to put the call on speaker phone. Y/n whispered to Zemo,

“Das wird nicht gut enden,” (English: It won’t end well) she grabbed Zemo’s arm Y/n looked at Zemo then heard a shot and saw Selby on the floor a bullet through her head. Zemo grabbed Y/n pulling them out of the room.

“Follow me,” He grabbed your hand pulling you with him somehow he was still keeping up the act. Bucky and sam werent far behind they got out of the bar and started running right before bullets started flying at them, “Damn it.” he shouted as sam more of jogged had the situation been diffrent Y/n would have laughed at how rediculous sam looked.

“I can’t run in these heels!” sam shouted to bucky who was running infront of them.

“Try being me!” Y/n yelled she was half tempted to take the shoes off and run. through the streets barefoot, “At lest your hells downt slip through a freaking vent!”

“Y/n if I recall corectly you used to fight in worse clothes and shoes than that when we were with HYDRA.” Zemo shouted back to her she rolled her eyes and threw the shoes offas she ran,

“Baron I suggest you shut up and keep yourself from getting shot!” zemo ran off to a side street and Y/n followed him, “If sam hadn’t gotten that damn call!”

“I’m aware, liebling,” he said and stopped since no one was shooting anymore, “I think we’re safe dor the moment-” he looked down and notice her shoes gone, “When did you do that?”

“A while back Baron,” she said then saw something move in the shadows and the shine of light refelcting on a gun pointed at zemo, “Zemo move!” She shoved him out of the way and the bullet hit Y/n and she fell on the ground, “Fuck!”

“Y/N!!” Zemo shouted and shot his gun in the direction the bullet came from before going to Y/n, “Your boys are gonna kill me. Where did you get hit?” She had her hand on her thigh, “I think it’s safe to assume you can’t walk.” he ripped part of his shirt and wrapped it around Y/n’s wound befor carfully picking her up bridal style. He carried her being causous of who was around to find Sam and Bucky. when he finally found them they checked to make sure you weren’t in any life or death danger. Sharon walked towards them. Zemo noticed you were slipping in and out of consciousness, “Apologies for the interupption but we need to get Y/n somewhere where her wound can be tended to.”

They arrived at sharons house and sharon opened the door to a room with a first aid kit. Zemo took her in the room and covered her with a blanket only leaving the area he needed to work on visible. He was getting the bullet out and the pain from it woke Y/n up she tried to sit up but Zemo gently pushed her down.

“I need you to stay down and stay still, schatz,” Zemo pulled the bullet out of the wound and began cleaning it and holding a cloth on it until her blood started clotting, “You are a foolish girl.”

“Oh god now you sound like peirce.”

“Well I’m saying it for diffrent reasons. You shouldn’t have shoved me out of the way. I accepted death many years ago.” he said and got hit on the back of the head, “Ouch! what was that for?!”

“Bad Helmut,” She sat up, “you accepted death because you want to see your wife and son again.”

“How do you know about-”

“Hydra files were released remember? Everything about you, about me, and bucky everything was release. I know you were sent to help defend against ultron and it took two days to find them. I know what it’s like. You met me after my fiance died.”

“You still shouldn’t have taken that bullet!!”

“Because I don’t want you to die!”

“Why!!”

“Because Zemo I care about you I thought you’d know that from The fact that I have vsited you every day for the past eight years. Hell I vistited you on christmas and ditch a new years date with Bucky to visit you. He doesnt know I went to see you.”

“You pity me. No one can understand what I did,” He walked toward the door Y/n got up and grabbed his wrist as a pain shot through her leg she ignored it.

“You really don’t understand do you?” She made him look at her, “I do understand. Pierce’s PA in HYDRA didn’t run away. Starks building didnt blow a fuse. I have been getting reveger on everyone my former fiance knew for years. I finished right before Thanos came here. it’s not the same but it would put me in a cell right next to you if they knew.”

“Y/n...” He turned to her and th silence made her realize the pain shooting through her body. She grabbed onto him so she wouldn’t fall as the the door opened. Zemo picked her up setting her back on the bedto take fix the wound fully. He held a cloth against the wound again as Walker came in the room.

“Well two criminals in one room. Must be my lucky day-...oh it’s just the freak and Zemo.”

“I can beat your-“ she is cutt off by the pain from Zemo stiching it.

“Well you were harboring a criminal so I get to take you and zemo to that prison you Freak.”

“Perhaps you should put your lack of braincells to better use somewhere else I need to help Y/n and your voice is highly annoying!” Zemo snapped at Walker. Bucky heard them arguig and pulled John out of the room. Zemo continued, “Humor me. How much of our under covers was an act”

“lets put it this way most of your apologies were unnecessary.”

“That isn’t an answer that makes sence,” he said and tied off the wrapping on her leg. She sighed,

“for an observant man you are very dull. Maybe youll uder stand this, Ich liebe dich,” (English: I love You) She kissed his cheek before going to stop Bucky and john from killing eachother. Zemo sat there in shock and confused at her action and what she had said. He didn’t know if she ment it platonically or not.

why steve rogers returning to the past was wrong

disclaimer: im clearly a stucky enthusiast, but please, do not be thrown off by that. i admit, there may be undertones of bias because of that in the following, but i did my best with trying to lay out the facts and draw logical conclusions, so do please give me a chance. also, i may have accidentaly omitted some moments and some quotes may not be 100% word for word, as my memory lowkey sucks. ALSO this is NOT a peggy hate post!! i think shes a dope and underrated character and quite frankly she was done dirty. but i also definitely h8 the trope of badass woman falls for the hero.

first and foremost, every sane person knows endgame was complete and utter bullshit when dealing with steves character, so this post will be more for you to maybe show (and hopefully convince) some stubborn friend or family member. nice, concise (not) and including proof from the movies (+a few tweets and stucky undertones, if u dont fw that i respect it but bucky is an integral part to steves character regardless of how u interpret their relationship) here is why steves character development was thrown away at the end of endgame.

let us begin at looking at the cap trilogy.

in ca:tfa it should be noted that steve had no one to return to in the 40s, except bucky. i believe steves relationship with peggy was no where near as developed as it should have been to elicit him returning exclusively for her. as we are aware, steves driving force has absolutely always been bucky. bucky was there for steve after his parents died, when he was sick, and always protected him from whatever trouble he got himself into. "until the end of the line" right? steves relationship with peggy was forced and short lived, literally, we're talking a matter of months here. i need to keep emphasising the important disparity between bucky and peggy, as it is absolutely key in this whole argument. steve dropped everything and went against every order just to even attempt to save bucky. even the slightest chance of him surviving being captured was enough for steve to break into a hydra camp and free the 107th division. steve even had the chance to capture zola, one of the main villains and masterminds of the war, but again, steve prioritised bucky. when theyre trying to escape the exploding hydra camp, the exchange between steve and bucky is critical. steve says "go! get out of here!" as all he wanted was bucky escaping safely. he put bucky's life over his own (this wasnt the first time he did this, nor the last) but bucky rooted himself to the spot, and yelled back "no, not without you!". they both escaped safely as we know, and then steve gathers the howling commandos to take down the red skull. bucky then falls off the train, nd steve blames himself for his death, even visibly crying over it twice. steves morals went from "i dont wanna kill anyone. i dont like bullies, i dont care where theyre from" before buckys death, to "i wont stop until all of hydra are dead or captured" after. stuff happens and steve defeats the red skull and is now in control of the flying ship with the bombs. he connects the comms with peggy and she tries to convince him theres another way to disarm the ship. steve was so dedicated at that point he didnt even want to hear it. he didnt even attempt to do anything to ensure his survival. this alone proves, peggy was not important enough to him to return to.

next is ca:tws. The stevebucky movie. in the museum, peggy confirms that steve saved the man from the 107th division who eventually became her husband (steve was never in the 107th, just to clarify) i believe her husbands name was daniel sousa (as revealed in the marvels agents of shield show) steve then finds out peggy is alive and talks to her. she, in short, tells him she's lived her life, and it was his turn to live his in the time hes in. the "my best girl" line was unnecessary and out of place; again, steve barely knew her. again, shit goes down, and steve finds out the winter soldier is bucky and immediately drops everything, and becomes dead set on saving him. not killing, not imprisoning, but saving him. no matter the cost. "he saw me, and he didnt even know me" "hes not the kind you save, hes the kind you stop. he won't recognise you" "he will." god, steve KNEW bucky would recognise him. regardless of the brainwashing, steve managed to break through the barrier hydra fought so hard to drill into buckys mind. nothing ever broke him out of that state exept for steve. "im not gonna fight you, youre my friend." "youre my mission" "then finish it. cos im with you till the end of the line." [[good fucking lord let me break out of my essay-esque semi professional format here and just say how fucking heartbreaking those lines are. oh my god. read them, over and over until it hits you.]] steve shows us again, that he is willing to not only die for bucky, but literally die by his hand. he would let bucky kill him. he'd dropped his shield. he didnt fight back. steve always, always, ALWAYS got up and fought back. always. exept that time. the time bucky could have killed him. that scene is the essence of "im with you till the end of the line" because then, it was true. it was true because steve was okay with dying at buckys mercy. theres a difference between sacrificing yourself for the greater good (steve going into the ice), willing to die for someone (steve risking his life multiple times in attempts to save bucky) and finally, being willing to let someone kill you, because you love and trust them so much (hellicarier scene). the difference between peggy and bucky's relationship to steve is that steve may be willing to die for either, but only willing to be killed by one. not to mention, bucky pulled steve from the river. he recognised him. steve broke through 70 years of brainwashing with such impact it literally drove bucky away from hydra out of his own free will.

in between ca:tws and ca:cw its confirmed (im p sure sam says it) that him and steve looked for bucky for two. years. even off screen, bucky was steves priority.

im going to squeeze in 2 points from from age of ultron here, for chronology's sake:

steves worst nightmare, as portayed in the movie, is LITERALLY going back to the 40s and being stuck there (with peggy too??lmfao) and also the quote "family, stability, the man who wanted all that went in the ice 75 years ago. i think another one came out." objectively confirms that steve isn't the man he used to be, and doesnt want to return to the past. aou may have sucked, but that doesn't mean the character development should be thrown away.

ca:cw. hoo boy. steve went against 117 countries and half of his closest friends and colleagues because he believed bucky was innocent of the bombing of the un conference. god, steve quite literally, did everything to defend and protect bucky. though i shall acknowledge that steve did attend peggy's funeral, however, there was no real connotations there other than the fact he was mourning her death (understabdibly so). steve then proceeds to protect bucky for 2 hours 27 mins and 41 seconds to the point where they escape together to siberia after the airport fight. "i dont know if im worth all this steve" "what you did all those years... it wasnt you. you didnt have a choice." "i know. but i did it" again, absolutely heartbreaking quotes if you read it a couple of times and truly understand the meaning of them. steve somewhat indirectly tells bucky yes, yes he is worth all of this. otherwise, he wouldn't be doing it. a quote to support that would be "for the longest time, i always did what i thought was right." (disclaimer this is not a direct quote i deadass couldnt find it to save my life, i belive steve said it at some point during civil war or tws, but the point is, bucky is the only thing that could have shaken steves morals so intensely.) and finally, the most important part of cw, the fight at the end with tony. bucky and steve constantly protected each other. steve kept fighting because he was fighting for bucky. to keep him safe from tony and the world. he got up, time and time again. "i can do this all day." the fact that he said that to tony, some people consider them the closest of friends, proves again, a million times over, bucky is more important to steve than literally anything else, INCLUDING his shield. his mantle. he dropped it and left it like it was nothing, because his priority was bucky. as always.

theres not much to discuss for infinity war other than their hug whicg was honestly just adorable.

mmmmm endgame. i will not go into how much i hate that movie because it would be a rant quintuple the length of this one. in the support group, steve dead ass fucking says "you gotta move on. you gotta move on" and that sentiment was literally forgotten at the end. my main point for endgame is this. people tend to tell me, the reason steve abandoned bucky and went back to be with peggy is because he knew that he was finally safe. :/. if you had half a braincell youd know that's not true. the steve we know, never would have left bucky for good, ESPECIALLY after the "dont do anything stupid until i get back" exchange [[god i want to beat the shit out of the r*ssos]] mostly because, bucky had fucking no one in the time he was living in!!! no family, no friends and most heartbreakingly, no one he could trust. (yes sam was there but were just seeing their friendship develop now in tfatws, all that wasnt there in endgame) and secondly, what made steve think bucky was entirely safe??? half of the worlds population just suddenly reappeared, which as we see now, there were massive consequences for that. i simply believe steve is not that stupid. steve going back was disrespectful not only to his character, but to bucky AND peggy. most importantly, the steve we've been watching since 2011 would NEVER abandon bucky, no matter how safe he thought he was (he visited him frequently in wakanda, the safest place on the planet arguably ffs) especially for such a dumbass and quite frankly, nonsensical reason as going back to be with peggy, who clearly stated to him she moved on, and so should he (which he did. idk endgame writers prolly didnt watch the previous movies :/) its not even debatable. bucky is more important to steve than peggy. even in terms of screentime.

now allow some tweets to speak for me, this one being the absolute most important one:

ladies and gentlefolk, all of the stuff ive said can be summarised in that last line. "it would be contrary to who he is."

and now finally, id like to briefly mention steve and tfatws, so beware of spoilers (writing this as of ep 4 coming out; praying it doesn't age badly)

bucky mentions steve, unprompted, fucking constantly. he clearly isnt over steve leaving, and im hoping that gets acknowledged and talked out in the show.

in conclusion, tl:dr, steve shouldn't have returned to the past and stayed there, it is contrary to who he is, as shown to us through his trilogy and other appearances in the mcu. not to mention the timeline bullshit in endgame makes zero sense in the first place.

one thing i think ppl get kinda stuck on in stevebucky fanfic is this idea that like, steve would be blinded by this idea of Old Bucky and not know how to handle new bucky and that's just. for one just untrue because even in civil war steve outright acknowledges that bucky might be too far gone before they meet again and is willing to bring him in and for two in my opinion just ooc overall? like steve is stubborn and doesnt bend for other ppl, yes, but hes also adaptable and respectful lmao

(pt 2 apparently im in a talkative mood) plus if there is an element of steve missing the bucky from before then like. imo hes absolutely entitled to that. like you can control your actions but you cant really control every feeling you have and wishing you could get the person you loved most after losing him in a horribly violent way less than two years (in your experience) ago and then finding him again as a brainwashed POW in a world you barely belong in? thats fully understandable lmao

oh gosh, yes yes yes to allllll of this, nonny!

like, I looove angsty fics where Bucky thinks Steve might not want him in his life anymore now he's different, or tries to be the Old Bucky that Steve remembers for fear of losing/upsetting Steve, but if the point that's being made is that Steve actually only wants Bucky to be the Old Bucky, that's when it feels ooc. fics where Bucky realizes Steve will always love him no matter how much the years as the Winter Soldier has changed him, however? 10/10. chefs kiss. all the awards.

like you say, Steve is completely entitled to grieve the loss of the man Bucky used to be!! but it's so ooc for him to not also love and respect the person Bucky becomes after everything he's gone through. like, there's very very little Bucky could do that would make Steve stop loving him. to say Steve wouldn't love Bucky as much anymore because he's sadder and grumpier and.. yknow.. traumatized now is a real misunderstanding of Steve's character

the whole anthony mackie situation (if you want my opinion please read the posts ive reblogged before this) has really got me thinking about how the falcon/captain america and the winter soldier was completely taken over by bucky barnes/sambucky/sebastian stan stans (lol.) like bucky was supposed to be a side character (or a side main character at best) and while yes, he had his own storyline and arc, the whole point of the show, the main emphasis that we as a fandom should have paid attention to, was sam/anthony mackie. instead of people appreciating this show for how they correctly portrayed the Black experience, the difference in how sam wilson and bucky barnes are treated, the continuous mistreatment of Black war veterans and how that history is swept under the rug etc. etc. people have almost exclusively focused on bucky barnes or sambucky and thats not on accident.

Black characters often only have value in a show or a piece of media because of their proximity to whiteness or white people.

Looking at it now, it was almost a mistake putting bucky in the falcon/captain america and the winter soldier because his whiteness was ALWAYS going to overshadow any point the show was making. in most interviews questions are asked towards sebastian and anthony is asked a lot about sebastian/bucky (sebastian doesnt really have to answer any questions about sam/anthony) even in moments highlighting his own accomplishments. most people in the MCU fandom (unless themselves are POC/Black) do not talk about sam/anthony mackie unless they are tying him back to sebastian/bucky. its infuriating.

so much of the fanfare is/was exclusively for bucky barnes and even tho sam wilson is captain fucking america and has his own tv show people still exclusively pay attention to the 1 white man (even john walker was talked about more 🙄.)

be honest: how many people do you really think would have watched this show if bucky wasnt in it or it had two Black leads? would the number or ratings been the same? would there be as much fanfare? would you have watched it?

anthony's "frustrations" w ships and fandom is justified because he is not treated equally within fandom/ships. how is he supposed to be supportive or comfortable when he is treated like second fiddle to every other white person? how is he supposed to embrace yall when you dont embrace him? even movies like black panther are not talked about often within the fandom. memes, incorrect quotes, and headcannons are not as frequently posted if compared to white counterparts UNLESS they are including another white character, which is usually peter parker or tony stark.

its such an awful form of racism, its almost entirely subconscious, which makes it the most dangerous.

even shang chi is not getting nearly enough praise or attention. everyone seems to have forgotten about it and is instead focusing more heavily on black widow, which is cool because she does deserve her own movie and was/is mistreated in the MCU, but she is still white (i also do not like scarlett johansson.)

id be absolutely LIVID if i worked my ass off to portray a full fledged Black character that isnt a stereotype and people can only focus on "did i fuck the white man or not?" there are so, so few examples of Black male characters having deep, loving friendships and there are even fewer in superhero movies/shows that little Black kids watch. no wonder anthony wants to keep (at least from my understanding, correct me if im wrong) sam and buckys relationship a friendship. also bucky and sarah dating will NOT erase the fact that bucky might be bi and will actually be great representation so that we can see a dark skin Black women in love which rarely, if ever, happens.

there is nothing wrong with shipping them (it's a rlly sweet ship) it becomes problematic when it becomes the whole Black characters point of existing to be paired with and support the white character. read any sambucky fanfic and its usually bucky being in distress or being the main emphasis with sam playing support or is a near silent background character. there is also something to say to the fact that nearly any time mlm friendships are shown in media it is immediately sexualized and heavily romanticized. this isnt the point of this post tho so ill go more in depth in a later post.

we should absolutely demand more representation from marvel (we are hopefully getting some in eternals, which im sure ppl will not pay attention to any of the POC characters and most of the fanfare will be for angelina jolie.) there is no excuse to not have canon LGBT+ characters in your media especially since marvel has been around for 10+ years. but stop demanding it from shows that do not want to give representation to you, stop harassing actors (especially POC) about ships, do not ask them about it, do not get mad when your ship is not canon or is disliked by the writers, and ESPECIALLY stop making is seem that the point of Black/POC characters existing in media is to be paired with Random White Person #3. sams storyline is not to be holding up and supporting bucky, sams story is about him becoming captain america. dont forget that.

Cassian’s laugh warmed your cheeks as you stood before him in the hall. The heavy winter clothes you wore pooled around your wrists and ankles. “You’re the one who told me to dress appropriately.” You reminded him, stalking to the kitchen with a bag in hand.

“I didnt think you were going to be dressed for winter court cold!” He followed you, his long limbs taking half the amount of steps it took you to get to the pantry. His extra coat fit him tightly, curving perfectly around his biceps. His hair was put up tighter as well to brave the longer flight with you.

“Do you need anything else? You havent really given me a great idea for what to expect here so…” You trailed off, showing him the packed bag of food and wine. His eyes darkened devilishly before saying “Maybe another bottle of wine… to keep you warm.” He winked.

The sun was dimming faster than you expected as you flew away from the Illyrian camp that Mor had winnowed you and Cassian to. She had given you a mischievous grin before she departed without a word.

“Please dont say that you’re bringing me up here to train more.” You groaned, peering around his shoulder to eye the quickly disappearing camp far below you.

“I told you already, this is me being nice.” His grip on you tightened with the words, and you felt your stomach flip slightly. His eyes were a golden honey brown in the waning sunlight. His hair streaked with brown and glossy black. You knew if you had said anything to him about it he would ruin it though. So you waited in silence, enjoying the view of his profile and the pinkish clouds as he flew you mile after mile into the northernmost parts of Prythian.

“Close your eyes.” Was his only instruction upon your descent. You could hear the smile in his voice as he told you when to take bigger steps or if rocks were coming while he led you uphill with your eyes squeezed shut.

“I swear Cassian if you lead me to some kind of monster pit or something-”

“Come on, you know I know better than that!” He laughed, finally stopping you with warm hands on your shoulders. “This is far enough, I want you to think of the prettiest parts of Velaris that you’ve seen, then open your eyes.”

The only thing that came to mind were all the memories with him and a nice sunset, or sunrise. Training with him in the ring on top of the house of wind, sunlight glinting of his damp skin. You felt your hands get clammy, thinking about all the changing scenes that were dominantly him. The thought of anything but him being the most gorgeous thing in Velaris was utterly ridiculous.

“What are you thinking of?” He asked after a few moments. His voice was more distant, and you heard him rifiling through the bag you’d brought.

“The Sidra.” You lied. He laughed aloud, and you heard him pouring the wine.

“Open your eyes.” He whispered sensually in your ear, as he slid the glass of wine into your hand. You could still hear the smirk on his lips. You were about to say something back, if just to get rid of the butterflies after him being that close but when you opened your eyes….the breath left you.

He was staring at you like a scholar, taking in every miniscule movement you made. Every breath, every expression. And you couldnt blame him as you gaped like a fish at the sky above you.

It was overwhelming. The beauty of the location alone but with the added colors flecking the sky it was… “Astounding.” You breathed, blinking to keep your eyes from watering at the sheer beauty. Green turned to blue, blue to purple ever so slowly in the night sky above you. There was no moon out, only stars that seemed to frame the moving painting above you. The stars didnt dare shine too bright, as if they were leaving distance for your viewing of the… “What is this? Do the others know-” You gaped at him. He only shook his head.

“Not many know. Almost none of the war camps do, unless soldiers somehow escaped hunting parties after they abandoned training.” He clinked your glass and smirked. “So how does it compare to the Sidra then?” You shoved him slightly, and he took your arm, sliding his hand down and lacing your fingers together as you both stared silently at the luminescent sky.

“Rhys’ mother showed us this place when we were young.” He said fondly, leading you to a small stream nearby that flowed into a great lake that reflected the stars and colors above perfectly. The chill in the air was barely noticeable with the layers you hand on. And his hand wrapped around yours warming your entire body, as if he was emitting heat. “She loved to take us out flying outside of the camps. She was...like a real mother to me. I dont remember much about my own mother.” He said quietly, his tucked wings flaring slightly with a breeze that made the water ripple.

“Rhys doesnt speak of his parents often either.” You tried to comfort, not wanting him to talk about it if he wasnt ready.

“Sometimes I dont think Rhys truly understands what the Illyrian children go through.” He shook his head slightly, eyes turned to the dark forest across the lake. “That makes me glad though, that he put me in charge of the camps. Az would have them wiped out completely if it was up to him.” He grinned at the thought of his brothers. His true brothers, not just Illyrian brethren.

“Cassian the Winged Savior.” You eyed him up and down and nodded. “It suits you.”

His laugh echoed across the lake. “I doubt any of them would be calling me that.”

You squeezed his hand and he turned to face you. You felt your cheeks flush further, and you knew it wasnt because of the wine or the layers you wore to keep you warm. “You think the best of me. I’ve never had someone.. Put so much faith in me.” He said slowly, his eyes reflecting the hues of green shading the sky. You couldn’t help but lean into him, his dark gaze holding yours.

“The victorious armies of the Night Court would beg to differ.” Your voice rose higher with nerves. You had wanted this with him for so long. Just to be alone, just to have the simplicity of time to be with him.

“As a person. Not a Strategist.” He leaned closer to you as well, his hot breath warming your lips.

“What about as a lover?” You asked slyly, your heart pounding in your ears so loud you could barely hear yourself.

And then he was on you, his lips hot and smooth against yours. Perfectly shaped, shifting himself to match your pace, your angle. You didnt realise how much you had wanted him, needed him until your tongue was against his throat, drawing a shuddering breath from him. His response was just as needy, his hands gripping your ass, working his way back up to begin taking off your layers.

“I’ll let you be the judge of that.” He rasped once he had your shirt off, his mouth slowly leaving a wet trail down your torso until flicking over a nipple, rolling the other with his fingers. A low moan escaped you, and he growled in satisfaction. He continued planing wet kisses down your side, your abdomen until he was on his knees before you.

The sight of him looking up at you was enough to make you want to take him right there, but clearly he had other plans. He rubbed his hot - too hot to be normal - hands up your thighs in massaging circles until he was teasing you, his hand sideways between your legs, rubbing you so so deliciously. He stared up at you, devouring you with his mouth agape, as if he wanted to taste your moans.

“Cassian-” You gasped as he rubbed just the tiniest bit harder against your thick pants. And you were suddenly being moved, his warm arms encircling you from the cool lake breeze. His lips never left yours as he carried you to a nearby cave filled with different outdoor supplies. He had a fire roaring on the leftover firewood instantly, his siphon glowing in the light of it.

“Take your damned clothes off before I remove them.” You growled, pawing at his jacket.

He smiled at you slyly, “ Yes my lady.” He rumbled.
