For the wip asks: 🌀🌤️💧
Happy procrastinating, same here
Cilil!!! Thank you for joining me on this super productive (see: procrastinating) day!
Let's focus on one I haven't actually posted yet to ao3, which goes well with the first emoji!! Golden Hearts Bleed Faster! Which honestly...this fic is so much fun for me lol, and I can't wait to share it, so stay tuned...who knows what tomorrow will bring.
🌀Post the fic summary for a fic you haven't written/published yet. It can be hypothetical or something you really plan on releasing...
Bilbo Baggins, Prince of the Shire, has been left with a kingdom on his back and a ring in his hand after the unexpected death of his parents. Bodyguard Thorin Oakenshield has been brought in to see to the prince’s safety, and do a little investigating of his own on the matter in hopes of coming face to face with the one who turned his mountain, and his life, upside down a few years prior.
🌤️Share your favorite piece of dialogue from your WIP.
"What flavor do you prefer?" “Pardon?” “Flavor,” Bilbo drawled before pointing towards a list of various flavors that the park's cute little ice cream stand offered. “I'm a vanilla man, myself,” he started, flashing a glance to his armed shadow as a grin crawled across his lips and he promptly adjusted his glasses smartly by lens of one side, “but only when it comes to things like food, but you...you strike me as a vanilla man for everything.”
💧Share something romantic/hot from your WIP, or just something sweet if it's gen.
Bilbo’s feet moved against his will, backward he went, following Thorin’s physical order until his back hit the wall, hands pinned over his head, and piercing blue eyes staring him down. “Then it’s a good thing I’m not here to impress you,” Thorin growled low, adrenaline still pulsing through his veins, and agitation having caused him to move a little too close to make a point. The air felt thick, so much that you could choke on it if speaking too loudly, or too much.  “So, what are you here to do then, if not to impress me?” Bilbo challenged, completely enamored with the position he was in as his fingers wiggled, and Thorin’s palm tightened as he watched his bodyguard’s contemplation.
teasing wips/upcoming projects ask game!

If you haven't gotten a request for Boromir yet, I'd love a treat for him! (he could use it let's be honest lol)
Happy halloween!!
HAPPY NEW YEARS...and 22 days. 😅 Okay, I'm realllllly sorry this took me so long, but I don't normally write Boromir and I wanted to get it right. I'm still not 100% I nailed it, but here's a little sweet treat from life on the road for the Fellowship.
Boromir blinked down at the smaller beings before him. He knew he shouldn’t treat them like children. Had been told multiple times that they were in fact adults in their own race, but applying the concept to the curly-headed big-eyed halfling pleading quite effectively was difficult.
“You want me to what?” He finally answered, making sure he heard them correctly.
“Teach us to fight!” Merry sighed with impatience.
“After all, it only makes sense, this being a dangerous quest and all.” Pippin chirped. “We need some skills to bring to the table.”
“You have plenty of skills, Little Ones.” Boromir laughed them off, starting to walk.
“Wait!” Merry and Pippin declared, quickly maneuvering themselves back in front of the man.
Boromir stopped in his tracks watching as they seemed to exchange a glance that looked almost vulnerable. It reminded him far too much of Faramir as his heart unexpectedly seized.
“Try to understand.” Merry implored. “Everyone here has a skill to contribute to the quest.”
“Gandalf is the wizard, Aragorn is a ranger, Frodo is the ringbearer…” Pippin listed off.
Merry nodded enthusiastically. “And Legolas is good with a bow and Gimli his axe and you with your sword. Even Sam has made himself useful as the group’s cook. We just…don’t want to be a burden. Can’t you help us? We promise we’ll listen and take it seriously.”
Boromir hesitated. However, it was no use. They got him, and he knew they had. They probably knew they had. He heaved a put-out sigh trying to at least feign it was a difficult decision for him. He could tell from their grins that he wasn’t successful.
“Alright, fine. But it won’t be easy. Grab your swords and meet me over at that outcropping.” He stated pointing to the group of rocks behind them.
He was met with two enthusiastic nods before they were gone, excited chattering left in their wake. Boromir laughed heartily as he shook his head. He turned to grab his own blade only to see the rest of their companions in various degrees of amused and disbelieving.
“Pay up!” Gimli demanded. “I told you they would wear him down.”
“What?” Boromir grumbled.
Aragorn chuckled around the stem of his pipe. “They’ve been begging at least one of us for days. We were all wondering when they would finally come to you.”
Boromir was a little affronted that he was not their first choice and that the rest thought him soft for agreeing.
“I didn’t see any harm in it. They should learn.”
“Are you kidding? Half the Shire could give you a lecture on why you shouldn’t arm a Brandybuck and a Took. And the only reason why the other half wouldn’t tell you the same is because they are Brandybucks and Tooks.” Sam scoffed.
Gandalf and Frodo seemed to be the only ones who knew the joke there as they broke out in laughter at his words. Boromir didn’t wait around to be mocked anymore. Grabbing his sword, he quickly retreated to where he sent Merry and Pippin. A large frown forming on his face. Maybe he had made a mistake. Perhaps he should tell them he changed his mind. There were other skills he was certain they could find themselves of use.
However, as soon as he stepped out onto the flat surface, the hobbits stopped their pretend swordplay and looked up at him with beaming smiles and hopeful eyes.
“What do you want us to do first?” Merry asked eagerly.
Boromir stilled. It couldn’t be that bad, could it?
“Let’s start with your form.” He declared, demonstrating the proper stance and correcting them when they went astray.
It certainly wasn’t easy, considering the unruly nature of the duo. Plenty of times, he could feel himself getting frustrated. Yet, for all that their energy was unbounded, their hearts were in it. And it was enough to keep Boromir coming out morning after morning to teach them new drills or maneuvers that could very well save their lives. Pretty soon, the teasing from the rest fell by the wayside, and a friendship formed between the three that he knew he would treasure for the remainder of his days.

Hobbiton, The Shire – T.A. Mersday 29th September 2939 of the Third Age (1339 in Shire-reckoning)
“Kate! What did I say about wearing your bandages?”
I sheepishly turned around to face a weary Bilbo, a guilty smile on my face. Heaving a sigh, he marched over, pointing expectantly at the discarded bandage roll on the table next to me as he passed, continuing around the furniture to reach the stove across from where I was sitting.
“How was the market?” I asked him as I reached for the roll. Watching him heave a sack onto the table, I began wrapping the material around my right palm. Well, as best as I could with the splint on my left hand.
Erard had revisited the day after Bilbo had dragged him over to help us, slinging along with him a bag full of equipment he had curated from his medical supplies. He spent an hour or so kindly showing us what everything was and how to use it. I had received many bandages that now covered the majority of my skin that was visible, along with a splint he had fashioned out of small, thin planks of wood that he bound in place with yet more bandages around my damaged wrist. My ankle only received a wrap of some type of sturdy material, since Erard had considered it unnecessary for it to have a splint as well.
Kay received just as many bandages, along with one around her head for the large gash on her forehead. She definitely wasn’t a big fan of it, since it made her look as if she was wearing a white bald cap, which I of course kept cackling about, much to her dismay. According to her extreme annoyance, it was preventing the hot injured main character look she was trying to achieve, which obviously made me cackle harder. Finally, Erard had given us both a bag of herbal tea to help alleviate any aches, and each small pot of some type of salve, which he instructed us to use on any open wound, once a day.
Bilbo on the other hand, had spent that time preparing a hefty luncheon, as part of his thanks to Erard, making sure the doctor didn’t leave without a full belly of his best sandwiches and seed cake.
Now it had been three days since Erard’s visit, and thanks to him, we were speedily on the mend. Fast enough to the point that I didn’t feel the need to wear my bandages as much (apart from the splint), much to Bilbo’s frustration. Though it was me forgetting to most of the time, living with an adhd brain and all. My small recollection of events was interrupted as Bilbo began answering my question:
“Not too bad.” He said as he emptied the sack of its contents. “Not bad at all, in fact. The weather has improved tremendously since that nasty storm, not a cloud in the sky the entire time I was there!”
I grimaced at Bilbo mentioning the storm, recalling the unfortunate events that Kay and I had endured. Though I quickly shoved them away as I focused on Bilbo as he rambled on about his experience at marketplace.
“– and got some tremendous pork from Barrowes’ stall, fresh this morning. Should be perfect for this evening’s dinner!”
“It looks amazing.” I commented as he unwrapped the large slab of meat from its casing of brown paper and twine. “What do you suppose would go with it?”
Once again Bilbo went off on a tangent, this time about sides and vegetables. Getting up from my seat, I made sure to make responsive hums and small comments as the hobbit spoke. I picked up the bowl of buttermilk icing I had left on the windowsill earlier and brought it over to the kitchen table, placing it next to the now cool cakes. I had baked two Victoria sponge cakes that morning, deciding that as I healed, I would bake as part of my thanks to Bilbo for letting us stay, and to Erard for his kindness and help – that is, as long as I could remember the recipes. Bilbo handed me a jar of freshly bought jam and I got to work slathering it on the cake halves along with a whipped cream I had made miraculously from scratch. I could see Bilbo eyeing up the cakes with a hungry look, so I made sure to speed up a little to make sure I was finished soon, so we could have it for pudding.
Bilbo and I were chatting away about different types of pastries when Kay ducked in through the doorway from the dining room. You couldn’t tell easily, but you could see a slight tension in the way she held her expression, giving me the impression that she was worried or very confused about something. I waited until she made eye contact with me, before tilting my head slightly in question. She darted her eyes at Bilbo, then back at me, indicating that she would talk to me later. I discreetly nodded my head in agreement and turned back to slathering my cake in an atrocious amount of icing, dropping the subject until later. Bilbo continued with his ramblings about dinner, and Kay soon joined in on helping him prepare it, the conversation turning to how to cook pork properly.
The cakes were a success. Bilbo and Kay’s delicious dinner had filled us all and we finally moved on to trying one of my sponge cakes. By the time Kay and I had finished our slice, Bilbo was onto his third, any compliments practically turning to murmuring chants as he stuck another forkful in his mouth.  I snorted at the scene before me, thanking the now chipmunk-faced hobbit as I picked up some pots and took them to the sink. I also brought the second cake for Erard to the pantry, placing it on a plate with a large bowl on top to keep in the moisture. The next half hour whirled by as we washed everything up, Bilbo insisting that I only dried up to not soak my splint whilst in exchange I made him agree to leave some cake for tomorrow.
Laughing at whatever was said, Bilbo disappeared off to his wine cellar, and I quickly took this opportunity to interrogate Kay about earlier as I beckoned her towards me.
“What’s going on? Are you ok?” I whispered.
“Yea course, I’m doing fine. It’s just…” She trailed off, before silently signalling me to follow her. I did so, following behind as she led me from the kitchen through the parlour to the front entrance. “You haven’t noticed anything strange appear in your room, have you?” Bilbo’s whistling echoed through the house as she led me deeper into the oak hall. I shook my head in reply, saying that I hadn’t been in my room all day.
Bilbo had decided that, because we were supposedly staying a while, he would give us both our own privacy by lending me the guest bedroom we stayed in the first night and turning the spare room into guest bedroom No.2 for Kay, who was leading me there right now.
Opening the door, she waited for me to follow through before closing it. Leading me over to a chest, she hauled the wooden lid open and pointed inside. I leant over, only to see something I thought impossible. I looked at Kay with wide eyes, before reaching in and hauling it out onto the floor between us. We both stared incredulously until I spoke.
“Well, that’s not supposed to be here.”

top 5 songs to write to and/or top 5 song to dance to?
I don't really write to music, exactly. Hearing words confuses my ability to make words? If that makes sense. What I do though is play an absolute fuckton of MLB The Show and listen to music while I play that because the game is very mindless, its basically “press X to hit dingers”, so my brain can wander, and then kind of use that music to figure out the vibe im going for in whatever WIP is on my mind? Or sometimes a song itself will just be a vibe that gives me an idea to write. Here are 5 songs I guess that MAKE ME WANT TO WRITE something about/concerning/vibing off of them, but I just haven't yet. This is also basically all folk/americana because that's mostly what I listen to.
When You Need a Train It Never Comes - Amanda Shires. The honest truth is that I love basically any song that includes the word "train", but I really love this one. I think if I were writing ALOTO fic this song could be a jumping off point for something, but I am just not hyperfixated in that direction haha. It definitely feels a little too old and weary for anything Ronance related, although I could see a future-fic where one of them is in an unhappy marriage?
Jennie Smith - Fred Eaglesmith. This song is just vibes. I mean it's just a song about a lonely old lady who wants a new screen door is what it is, but i just find the simplicity of the lyrics to be super evocative and aspirational in terms of setting a scene and telling a long story in not a lot of words. I think this song does influence me even if im not writing ABOUT it exactly.
That Kind of Lonely - Patty Griffin. I probably will name a fic after this song eventually, its a very good title. The lyric "There's a scar below your left eye, fades away as you get older" is just so frickin huge to me. It has a context within the song but outside of that context it's such an encompassing description of the passage of time, or of knowing somebody really well for a long time, of trauma and its effects. I think I could write a whole story just off the prompt of that one line.
Midnight Rider - Patti Smith. This is a cover, obviously. She did an interview with like itunes or somebody whenever this covers record came out, and she said something like "i wanted this song to sound like riding a horse" and it really does, and i think of it every time i listen to it, and maybe it doesn't make me want to write about it specifically but it's sort of foundational to me in terms of figuring out what i want something im writing to feel like, and building towards that.
House of Mercy - Sarah Jarosz. Or basically any of her songs. This song its mostly guitars but she also does a lot with like full bluegrass/country string band arrangements and I would willingly spend my entire life trying to make words sound to me like her strings do.

The aim is a regular posting schedule (once every week or fortnight or so), but right now I have just a mega amount of one shots (like seriously you guys aren't prepared for what's coming. So enjoy! ~H
Put Me Down! By Resacon1990
|| general - 1.8k - completed ||
Bilbo groans as Thorin continues to yell insults up at Beorn.
"You giant oaf!" he calls, "put him down! He clearly doesn't want to be hanging from your meaty claw!"
Notes: I feel like most everyone knows this fic, but if you don't then you definitely need to read it. It's so fluffy and funny and wonderful. Thilbo centric.
Clementine by TenTomatoes
|| general - 6.4k - completed ||
In which Bilbo Baggins left a hobbit lass behind him when he joined them on this quest and Thorin doesn't care until he does.
Notes: This is also Thilbo centric and is a great example of just how much of an idiot Thorin can be. I love it so much.
Back, and There Again… by HiddenKitty
|| teen - 8.3k - completed ||
Belladonna has been waiting for her only son Bilbo to join her in Yavanna's pastures for many years, but it doesn't quite turn out the way she'd hoped. It seems love and adventures can change a hobbit in quite different ways.
Endless, endless thanks to H. Savinien for their wonderful beta-ing!
Notes: I haven't read this one too many times cause it's a little angsty, but I do like it a lot, all things considered. Thilbo centric.
Adventures in Prince Sitting by Lumelo
|| general - 4.1k - completed ||
Looking after your nephew for half a day isn't that big of a deal, really. Except when said nephew happens to be a prince of Durin's line, second in line to the throne, and really quite the destructive little beast for something that's only known how to walk for a few months. His Highness is lucky he's cute, really.
Nori really isn't sure why Ori thinks he can handle a baby. Fortunately, he can always make Dwalin help him, or else.
Notes: Nwalin focused, with a side of Fiori and Thilbo. I can't ever decide if I like Dwalin/Nori or Dwalin/Ori more. Maybe we should have a vote... But either way, I love this fic, especially since it highlights two characters that don't typically get the limelight (also baby dwarrow).
Trouble with Faces by Resacon1990
|| teen - 3.6k - completed ||
A quick trip to the elven traveller of the month was enough for the entire Shire to realise that Belladonna and Bungo Baggins had a face blind son.
Notes: This one isn't as well known as some of the others on the list, but it's so soft and I adore every bit of it.
The Age of Miscommunication by SilverSkiesAtMidnight
|| teen - 6.6k - completed ||
“It’s got such a presence to it, even from a distance,” Bilbo says softly, and there’s a general murmur of awed agreement from the others. “Why, in all my fifty years, I never thought I’d see such a thing, and we haven’t even arrived yet!”
Thorin’s sword hits the ground with a clatter, and Balin chokes on his pipe.
The hobbit doesn’t look at Thorin, too busy thumping Balin on the back. Once the dwarf seems able to breathe again, he looks up, to find thirteen wide pairs of eyes fixed on him.
“What?” he says defensively, though he’s not sure what he’s defending.
“You’re how old?” Kíli squeaks.
Bilbo frowns at the young dwarf. “I’m fifty years old. Well, fifty-one, come springtime. Though it is not very polite to ask someone their age so bluntly,” he tells him primly.
Fíli makes a choked sound, and Nori lets out a vicious string of swears in Khuzdul.
Notes: CLASSIC ALERT. All I can really say about this fic is that if you haven't read it, that's a crime, and you must. This fic is a gen-you-ine staple, and I adore it. Thilbo.
All That Shine as Moonstone Leave a Discernible Mark by kay_cricketed
|| teen - 2.9k - completed ||
After the Battle of Five Armies, Thorin Oakenshield is determined to secure Bilbo's place in the world, even if he must make him a husband and a widower in the same hour to do so.
Notes: This one's simultaneously funny and saddd. All the feels, especially the faith Thorin has in Bilbo (this is Thilbo btw). Everything ends up fine, but it still destroys me.
To Choose a Consort by Thevaen
|| general - 5.1k - completed ||
''You really ought to look more interested, or at least pretend.'' Bilbo started, giving the Dwarf a slap against his arm at the look he received. ''And stop being such a child.'' Thorin smiled. ''They don't know me the way you do.'' A flutter exploded in the Hobbit's chest at the words. ''I doubt if there's anyone who is quite so skilled at interpreting expressions as you Master Baggins.''
Thorin had to choose a consort. He knew that, and he also knew he didn't want a consort that was not the Hobbit. He doesn't, and instead stubbornly waits for a sign that the Hobbit himself would be willing to be such. Bilbo in turn, knew he was more than a little envious of those that got the chance to present themselves in front of the Dwarven King, and that he was more than a little relieved when time after time, they were kindly rejected. He also knew that if he was being really honest, he really wanted to take on the spot himself.
Notes: This one's another classic and I love it too much to handle sometimes. The pining is lovely and it ends up so happily, and I just love it so much.
The Fine Print by airebellah
|| general - 6.3k - completed ||
It had been many years since Bilbo had seen his Dwarves. Driven by his loneliness and nostalgia, one night he decided to re-read the contract he had signed so many years ago, hoping to find catharsis. Instead, what he found was burning rage at all the ridiculous clauses the Dwarves had slipped in without his notice. In the end, Bilbo knew there was only one thing to do. He would travel to Erebor, and have very specific words with the King.
Notes: LMAO, this fic tho... It's just hilarious, and so very Bilbo. I love it so much, you guys have no idea.
Customary by an_odd_ducky
|| general - 3.4k - completed ||
Hobbits rub noses to greet each other - a fact the dwarves don't know until they arrive in Rivendell and Elrond greets a surprised Bilbo by rubbing their noses together. Some of the company find it quite amusing, but Thorin is less than pleased. Fluff! Fill for the Hobbit Kink Meme.
Notes: This one is so soft and fluffy, and Elrond (we love Elrond here) being knowledgable about Hobbit culture is such a vibe and we love that. Thilbo.
And another list done, the satisfaction is real you've got no idea. But anywhoooo, I hope you enjoyed! Any requests, just shoot me an ask or something. I'm also thinking about doing single fic in depth honest reviews. If that's something you'd be interested in seeing, just let me know! The Library is officially off of hiatus. Love you all!

For the WiP asks: Rosie Runs to Rivendell 1, 3, 11, 22
Summarize this AU in 1 sentence.
Sam and Rosie get married and have Elanor before the Quest, and they join Frodo as he leaves the Shire.
3. Did anything inspire this AU?
Yes! This actually came from a vague dream I had a while back, where Frodo, Sam, and Rosie drove up to Rivendell (which looked like one of those large suburban mansions with an immaculate lawn) in an SUV. Elrond was either turning on his sprinklers or mowing the lawn, I think. The dream was very silly and nonsensical, but I found myself thinking about it upon waking, wondering what would have happened if Sam and Rosie got married before the story properly starts, and circumstances transpired that led to Rosie and Elanor joining them as they left the Shire. I ended up with enough cute/angsty/interesting scenes that I decided to go ahead and try my hand at writing it.
11. Is there any relationship that's different in this AU than in the source material?
Mostly it's a bunch of relationships that don't even exist in canon, because Rosie is in the Shire the whole time and we barely see Elanor at all. For example, we know from the appendices that Elanor goes on to become Arwen's handmaiden eventually, but there's no indication Rosie would have met her or Aragorn at all. But in this AU, she does! I'm actually really looking forward to writing their interactions - Strider holding tiny little hobbit-lass Elanor in his lap, Arwen speaking kindly to Rosie, who feels extremely out of place in Rivendell, etc.
I suppose you could make an argument that I'm fudging Frodo and Sam's relationship a bit, because they grew so close primarily because of the peril they went through together in their travels, so it makes less sense for Frodo to have Sam and Rosie live with him in Bag-End before they've gone on their adventures. But I don't care! I'm interpreting them to be best friends already, by virtue of being neighbors, and Bilbo teaching Sam to read and write, and both Bilbo and Frodo not treating anyone differently just because they're from a different class.
22. What was the hardest thing to write about this fic?
Well, I haven't written very much yet, but already I'm finding myself very insecure about the way I have the characters speak. Characterization-wise, I feel pretty confident because I've been reading and watching LotR since I was ten. But this is actually my first LotR fic, and I'm scared of getting their voices wrong. Particularly since I'm American, and the hobbits in particular are very British, even in the way they speak. It's easier to write a gentlehobbit like Frodo, because I just have to have him speak more or less "proper." But Sam and Rosie are more down-to-earth, and I always feel like there's some dialectical nuances I'm missing simply because I'm not used to hearing people talk like they do.

Little Secret
Tumblr media
Request: Wonderful! Could please write an escenario in which y/n (half elf and half human) was part of the company cause Gandalf hired her. She and Kili fell for each other and secretly started courting. Once Erebor was reclaimed everything was going back to normal. Thorin asked her to stay for as long as she liked. When Fili & Kili's mom got there, she had lots of meetings with Thorin so y/n was not able to properly meet her. The day that they are actually introduced, Thorin announces Kili's and Fili's arranged marriages which took everyone by surprise. Y/n and Kili try to figure and fix things out in order to convince Thorin to put off the arrange marriage but it does not work. Therefore, y/n decides to leave Erebor and ends up leaving to Dale; befriending/ helping Bard and his kids.  During her time there she finds out that she was pregnant with Kili's child. However, she never notifies Kili nor goes to Erebor to announce it thinking that he had his duty as a prince and it would be harmful for him/ his arranged marriage. So, she makes the decision to raise the baby on her own. Time goes by and on a normal day (when she was 9 months pregnant) that she's walking around Dale  while feeling contractions she bumps into Kili. Thank you so much!❤️ Sorry for the long message 😅 - @just-a-dreamer23
A/N: I know, I know, this is soo long. But, I enjoyed writing this story!! I've been trying to overcome my lack of motivation to write, so maybe it isn't as good in some parts, as my other stories, but I wanted to keep it that way, so I hope you enjoy anyways.

The afternoon was hot. The best thing to do, was to take a nap. At least, in your opinion.
Nothing would attack in this heat, you thought, as you rested under a tree. A while after, you noticed pointy hat and grey cloak of the same colour. You lazily waved.
"Gandalf, long time no see!" Gandalf smiled at you.
"Good afternoon, Y/N." You stood up and looked at him, waiting. Gandalf never came just...for no reason.
"How are you doing?" Gandalf asked, and you shrugged.
"I'm just wandering around, as usual. You know me. I never stay in one place for too long." You said. Gandalf knew that, obviously. Being a child of an elf and a human, you felt like you never belong anywhere.
Elves felt really tense and quiet, and humans were quite loud for you, because of your hearing. And you aged lot slower than them, so making friends was also quite...not it.
"I've been looking for you, to join an adventure," You curiously gave him a look.
"An adventure? What kind of adventure?"
"Well," he looked at you.
"You know about Erebor and the line of Durin, right?" You frowned at him, and quickly shook your head.
"Gandalf, I can't-I can't join the dwarves! They will hate me! Everyone knows they hate the elves, and I'm half elf!" You said.
"Well, who said they will know? You owe me help," he reminded you. You thought back to when he healed you after orcs attacked you, and you sighed. He was right. This was the least you could do.
"And, who knows. Maybe they will like you," he gave you a look, and you folded your hands on your chest, and let out a sigh.
"Alright then. Where and when am I supposed to be?" He gave you all the information you needed. And you started your way to the Shire, looking at the first evening stars, as the starlight is what the Elves of Mirkwood love so much.
You got to the Shire around late afternoon after three days of traveling, and smiled. The hobbits and their houses were tiny, so you couldn't help, but smile. Maybe it won't be that bad, having perhaps a hobbit friend, after all...
-
You remembered the moment when you first met Kili. You thought Gandalf was there at Bilbo's house, but when you opened the door...
"Are you Master Boggins?" You frowned at the brunette dwarf.
"Do I look like a hobbit to you?" He looked at the other dwarf, then back at you, but there was Bilbo already.
Later on the journey, he found you without your cape on. It was your turn for bathing, but him and Fili forgot some their things at the river.
You just put off your cloak, and put your hair down from your headband. You heard steps, so you quickly turned around.
"You are..." Fili started.
"...an elf?" Kili finished. You huffed.
"Half elf. My mother was...human." you whispered. Painful memories of your early life came up, and you blinked to stop the tears.
"Don't tell anyone, please..." you looked at them. Both Fili and Kili must've seen something in your expression, that made them realize the importance. They nodded. Kili was, however, curious. Lot more than before, and asking you about elves. You talked about it when Thorin was far enought to not hear what was your conversations about, but it wouldn't matter much. Gandalf told them you spent part of your life living with the elves, which was true.
In fact, Kili became fascinated by you. He liked you before, and had a feeling, which he wasn't sure about. Interest, curiousity, the need to protect you, adoration...
In the moment he saw you, he realized you were his One, his love for life. And when you got closer, he asked you to court him. You said yes. From then on, you shared many quiet and stolen kisses and moments together, in the shadows of forests or your bedrooms in pubs.
The moment everyone else (except for Bilbo and the Durin brothers) found out, was when you came into Mirkwood. Thranduil ordered his guards to take your cloak and headband off, and now, everyone could see your pointy ears.
There was a moment of silence.
"What made an elf, to travel with group of dwarves?" You gulped and looked down.
"I'm a-a half elf," you whispered.
"My father was from here." You explained, and the king shot you a glare. He was not stupid. He knew you tried to pull his attention away.
"Take them to the dungeons, except for Oakenshield," he said.
When you made yourself as comfortable as you could on the cold floor, you overheard the dwarves trying to find out who you actually were and what you wanted.
To your surprise, they didn't talk about you in a bad way. Just curiousity. Thankfully.
-
"Do you think she will like me?" You said to Kili. He was writing a letter to his and Fili's mother, Dis, the happy news - Erebor was reclaimed, and they all survived. It's been a week since, and Thorin decided it was the right thing to let his sister know as soon as possible. She was surely worried.
Kili turned to you.
"Like you? Like you? She is going to love you," Kili grinned at you, and you had to smile a little too.
"Yeah, but...you know, I'm not a dwarf," you said your worry aloud. It was true. Being a half-elf, you and Kili started courting in secret. Thorin was not really kind to you, at least the first half of the journey. However, the rest of the Company liked you lot more. Especially Kili. After a while of knowing of what did you feel, you decided to tell him. To your surprise, but happiness, Kili shared those feelings. And since then, you had a tiny braid, hidden in your hair, and Kili as well.
And stole many, many secret kisses.
"I don't think mum is going to have issue with this," Kili stood up, and gently placed your hair behind your ear.
"You're my One, and you make me incredibly happy. I'm sure she won't have problem with you being half elf," You cupped his cheek, and softly smiled, as you looked deep in his kind brown eyes.
"I love you too, my short Prince," He stood on his toes and kissed you, getting a giggle from you. He pouted, when he heard you called him short, but you knew he didn't mind it.
You kissed him, and felt his smile on your lips. You were leaning down, when suddenly you lost balance, and both you and Kili ended up lying on the floor. Kili and you let out a yelp, but then broke into giggles.
"I love you," Kili said, when you finally stopped laughing. You cuddled into his chest and breathed in his scent. Kili smelled like smoke, food and fresh air.
"I love you too," Kili gently stroke your hair, and you got up.
"Where are you going?"
"You have to finish the letter, and I promised Tilda I will take a walk with her before the dinner." You helped Kili to get up.
"Alright my beloved, have a good time," he gently kissed you, and sat back to his desk. You smiled, and ruffled his hair.
"You too, my dearest." You smiled, and left the room.
-
It's been a few months, and you were finally, finally going to meet Kili and Fili's mother, Dis. She has been there for around two weeks by now, but, you haven't got the chance to meet her and be introduced to her yet.
You were officially going to meet her during upcoming celebration. Needless to say, you were freaking out.
Your stomach was tight from anxiety for a few days already, and that afternoon, it felt absolutely horrible. You haven't eaten whole day, just because all you thought about was the evening.
You spent around an hour of putting on and off different dresses from your wardrobe, trying to figure out which one to wear.
"Y/N?" Kili knocked on the door of your chambers.
"C'me in," you said. He came in, and his eyes widened, when he seen you sitting in front of the mirror, your eyes red and the mess everywhere.
"What am I supposed to wear? I have nothing to wear!" You started crying. All the stress and anxiety in past three months got the best of you. Random moments of crying, because of tiny things, were happening on daily basis.
"Dear, what is happening?" He pulled your hair back behind your ears.
"I-I just want-want your mum to like me," you muttered.
"And...it stresses me out." Kili nodded, and shortly hugged you.
"She is going to love you no matter which dress you wear, I promise." He whispered to your ear.
"Now, I think..." Kili looked around.
"I think the...the dark green dress will be perfect."
When you changed into the dress Kili picked you, Kili brushed and styled your hair. He pulled the top section into a clip, and you pulled a few strands, to frame your face. You smiled at yourself in the mirror.
"You ready?" Kili asked. You just silently nodded.
As you walked down the hall, Kili was trying to figure out where his uncle, brother and mother went to. He couldn't see them anywhere, and he was sure he was once in a while not late.
When you entered the huge throne room, you could see Fili, and let out a breath of relief.
"Fili, have you seen-"
"Kili, there you are," A woman came from behind Fili, and looked over her younger son.
"Have you brushed your hair?" Kili huffed.
"Of course I did." He said quietly, so nobody could hear him. He was visibly embarrassed, and you let out laugh. She suddenly turned to you. Her deep blue eyes reminded you Thorin, but they had the same twinkle as Kili and, occasionally, Fili.
"I don't remember I seen you here before," she said.
"Well, I usually spend my time outside of Erebor, so I think that might be it," You nervously smiled. She hummed.
"I-I'm not a part of the royal family," you said, and almost groaned. Now that was embarrassing for sure.
"Y/N, this is my and Kili's mum, Dis. Mum, this is Y/N," Fili said, and you felt your cheeks heat up.
"I-um-" You tried to say something, but she pulled you in short hug.
"Nice to meet you, Y/N," she gave you a smile, and then went back between the guests with Fili.
You let out a breath.
"That was embarrassing," you groaned. Kili chuckled.
"No, not at all. She likes you." It suddenly felt like it was much easier to breathe.
"She-she does?" Your eyes widened, and Kili nodded.
"Of course! And you can bet she will steal you to me during the evening,"
"How do you know that?" You turned to him with surprise written all over your face.
"She is my mother. I know her for a long time." He just said.
"She seems to be...different from Thorin," you said, hoping it wouldn't come out as offensive. Kili chuckled.
"Mum and Uncle really aren't that different. Uncle just focuses more on the kingdom and mum, on family," Kili said in low voice, so that only you could hear it.
When you sat down to the table, where the royal family and the Company was, you looked around. You and Kili did secretly hold hands under the table, and you talked to Dis, who was sitting across the table.
"Good evening, everyone," Thorin said, and the people got more quiet.
"It's my pleasure to meet all of you here today. I have some things to say, before the celebration starts." Thorin paused, and Kili leaned near you with a grin.
"It's just a few formalities, don't worry, love." You smiled at him back with tight smile. You felt something was not right. Thorin talked about the kingdom a little at first. The next news was, however, what you were afraid of.
"I'm very happy to say, my nephew Fili is going to marry-" you let out a breath. Kili turned to you with worry.
"Do you feel okay?" He asked, when suddenly...
"And my nephew Kili, who also has already arranged marriage, with-"
Kili stared at Thorin, and you as well.
"Kili-Kili, please-" you tried to stop Kili from going to Thorin. Kili was visibly angry, his jaw was tight, and body tense.
"Kili? What is happening?" Thorin came and let through his teeth. You suddenly felt everyone's eyes on you.
"I need some fresh air," you whispered and walked away, as quickly as you could. When you left, you came in your chambers, kneeled to your bed, and started crying.
You knew it. You should've known before.
Thorin would do this. Even when Fili and Kili were children, he would make sure they had wives already. They were princes. They needed to have a wife.
And Thorin...Thorin would never allow Kili to court you or marry you.
The next day, Kili came into your room. He had dark circles under his eyes, and gave you weak smile.
"I promise we will work this out," he muttered, and pulled you close to his chest.
Kili was asleep - and you let him - but, you thought about your situation, and tried to come up with possible solutions.
However, it was as if there weren't any.
It's been a few days, and you cuddled into your blanket. You fell asleep, and when you woke up, you looked around the room.
This place isn't for me anymore, you thought, and started packing your clothes into your bag. You changed into tunic and trousers, and wrote a letter to Kili, that you were sorry, but it was probably better to have a wife his Uncle would like, that you were leaving and never coming back, so he shouldn't be looking for you.
You quietly left the palace, and walked out in the morning. The air was fresh and nice, and for a moment, you forgot your sadness.
You walked to Dale, and decided to meet Bard. You had nowhere to go, and maybe staying there would be good, before you'd go...somewhere else.
The guards let you in, and as you thought of going to Rivendell, you noticed Bard.
"Bard?" He turned to you, and nodded at you.
"Hi Y/N. What brings you here?" You sighed.
"I'm leaving Erebor, Bard...but the problem is, I need to think about of where-" you suddenly felt dizzy, and Bard catched you. He called for a healer, that's what your hazy mind could catch.
You basically woke up, in a room. On a bed. Comfortable bed.
"Lie still, lady Y/N," the healer said. You frowned a little, when she placed her ear to your stomach.
"I can hear the heartbeat clearly. The baby is most likely around three months old," she said.
"What baby?" You asked, confused. You looked from the healer to Bard and Bard to healer. She took your hands in hers.
"You don't know, my lady? You are pregnant. I can clearly hear the heartbeat of your child," she softly smiled at you. You shook your head, and felt a few tears escaping your eyes.
"I'm...I'm with child," you whispered. You could not believe it. So perhaps, it wasn't just stress...
"Who is the father?" The healer asked, when she helped you to sit up. You nervously looked in your lap.
"Kili. Prince...Kili. Kili Durin." You said, and Bard and the healer shared a look.
"He...he doesn't know. Can we keep it a secret? Please?" You looked at them.
They said yes. Bard was like a father to you, and let you stay. He showed you chambers, that would be your home for next few months at least.
You never went back to Erebor. You thought Kili had to marry the princess, so you just tried to think of the baby you were carrying.
It wasn't that hard, honestly. The baby was often restless, though.
As if it missed Kili as much as you did...
Even if the baby would have to grow up without it's biological dad, you were sure you'd be able to take care of them well.
Some days, you were happy, and didn't think of Kili too much. It pained you, yes, and you knew you had to be strong for the baby, so you often asked someone to teach you something, such as how to prepare different meals, how to knit or how to play piano, to name a few.
Other days, you felt sad. It could be because of the weather, or hormones, some days you just woke up sad, and sometimes it was when something reminded you of Kili. Those days, the baby was the most restless, and the maids told you it was because the baby missed it's father.
You sat down to the armchair next to the window in your bedroom, and looked out on the street. Nobody could see you from here, so it made you feel safe. You looked up and seen Erebor.
"There's your daddy, over there," you whispered to the baby.
The answer you got, was soft kick.
-
"Does it hurt?" Sigrid asked you, looking at your belly. You smiled at her.
"No, it doesn't." You stroke your stomach. You've been pregnant for past almost nine months. Bard was so kind and let you stay, and even offered you bigger chambers, which you gladly agreeded to. The chambers were perfect size, and the baby could have their own small room, overtime.
You let out shaky breath. You wanted Kili to know about all of this. To be there with you, talk to you and to the baby.
But, it was not possible. It would hurt his reputation, and perhaps even his marriage.
You dried your tears, and carefully stood up. Even as pregnant, you were able to stand up yourself, luckily quite easily. You felt very thankful for some of your genes being from the elves, because, as Bard explained to you, humans had it harder.
When you slowly got yourself out of the castle, you breathed in. The air smelled nicely - you smelled fresh bread, old leaves, fresh air from the lake. Mix of summer and autumn. You felt it was one of the last few warm days, before the typical autumn comes.
You looked around, and your cravings were begging you for some freshly baked, soft warm bread with fresh butter, melting on top of it. You thought of the crispiness of the bread's crust, and your mouth started watering. You groaned, when you felt how your stomach let you know some snack would come handy.
You slid your hand to your pocket, and made sure you have enough money.
You started walking, to find some bakery, and as you looked around, you noticed one on the other end of the street.
You let out a breath, and started walking towards the small store.
You were almost there, when you overheard a gasps, escaping a few young girls. You slowed down and listened to their conversation.
"Did you see him?"
"Yes, I did. Do you think it really is the Prince?"
"Of course he is! I mean, look at him. I'd recognize the hair clip everywhere." You frowned a little, when you suddenly realized it. You stopped walking, and felt hot wave running down your back, and liquid running down your leg.
You carefully looked down. It was clear.
You turned around, and - damn it! - your eyes locked with Kili's in the exact moment.
He started walking towards you. You clearly recognized happiness in his eyes, and relief.
"Y/N, where have you been those past months? I was worried about you," He said, and when he was near you, you recognized even the wet shine in his chocolate eyes. You felt sudden rush of guilt.
He must have notice the guilt on your face. Kili frowned a little, when he took a notice of your belly, under the dress.
"I-you..." You noticed it. He was holding back tears. You shook your head, as you tried to hold your own.
"Kili, it isn't like this...please trust me!" You felt another wave of heat running down your back, and stepped forward, but sudden dizzines made you take wrong step. Kili quickly catched you.
"Kili, I-this is, uh..."
"You moved on," he said. You shook your head.
"No, it's...you are the father," you said, but didn't notice what was his reaction, because suddenly, you realized what was going on, as you were holding your belly.
"I need to get back, and find a healer and midwife," you let out through your gritted teeth.
"We will get there quickly," Kili let out, and you had a feeling.
"Don't you dare to faint!" You let out.
Kili helped you to get back. You noticed Sigrid, and told her to quickly find healer. She didn't ask anything, and quickly runned away. You let out a groan and gripped Kili's arm.
"Lady Y/N, we need to get you to the room prepared for labour," the healer said, and checked on your belly.
When you got there, and changed into simple gown, you laid down as the healer told you.
Kili stayed there, and you were gripping his arm and hand.
"I'm not fucking letting you to sleep with me ever again," you said through gritted teeth. Kili took a shaky breath, and you shot him a glare.
"Don't you dare to faint, Kili Durin! You did put this baby inside me nine months ago, so now-"
"This is just the pain speaking from Lady Y/N, Prince Kili. Don't take it personally," Kili gulped and nodded.
"You're doing great, love," he said carefully. You let out a huff.
"I didn't finish! Now you will deal with me breaking your arm, because it hurts!" You almost yelled at him.
"I can see the head, my Lady!" The healer smiled.
"With this next contraction, you will push as much as you can!" The healer said.
"Okay, one, two, three-push!"
"You're doing great, dear. The baby is almost there," Kili tried to cheer you up.
"You have no idea how painful it is!" You screamed.
"My lady, this is going to be your last push, are you ready?" The healer looked up at you, and you nodded.
"One, two, three, push!" The healer let out. You gripped Kili's hand, and suddenly...
You heard a baby scream.
"It's a girl!" The healer said happily. You smiled, and let out some happy tears.
"You-you did it!" Kili said, and you wiped off your eyes.
"No, we did it," you muttered, and he kissed your cheek.
"How do you feel, Y/N?"
"I'm okay," you smiled. The midwife checked on you, and handed you your baby.
"Everything seems to be in order," she said and smiled. You smiled at her back. She was there for you for all those months, and you got close.
"Thank you so much," She nodded.
"I'll leave you alone," she said, and left.
You stroke the baby's cheek.
"How are we going to name her?" Kili whispered, and stroke the baby's chubby cheek. You shrugged.
"Well...I'm not sure. I was thinking of Arina," you said.
"It's...it's beautiful name," Kili said, and you realized he was crying.
"Kili...I'm so sorry for...for hiding it from you," you whispered. Kili shook his head.
"Love...it isn't your fault. Can I...can I hug you?" You nodded, and he slid his arm around your shoulders.
"If anything, it's my fault." He muttered.
"I should've known where did you go, and-"
"Shh," you said.
"We can talk about that later. Arina's asleep now."
You were quietly watching the baby. The midwife came back soon, to check on you and the baby, and when she left, Kili spoken up.
"We talked Uncle the marriges out." You nodded.
"You left Erebor by then already. I was looking everywhere for you, only if I knew-" you subtly interrupted him.
"I didn't know either. I wanted to go to Rivendell, but...then, I found out. It would be risky, so Bard let me stay here," You shrugged.
"Do you still want to leave, though?" Kili looked at you with sad eyes, when he looked away from your daughter. You shook your head.
"No." Kili grinned, and gently brushed his hand over your cheek.
"Just for your information...mum was going nuts when she found out about the arranged marriges. She likes you a lot." You smiled, and took Kili's hand in yours.
"Well...let's hope she likes her too," You looked at Arina's sleeping face.
You came back the next day. Kili had to go to Erebor that evening, but in the morning, he came back.
When you entered, you overheard a strong female voice. You quickly realized who was the woman.
"I don't care my brother has a meeting. Go tell him he has to come here. It's a family emergency," she said, and turned to you and Kili.
"Y/N, where have you-oh, who is this?" Dis turned to you, and noticed the baby. You shared a look with Kili.
"This is your granddaughter," You said carefully. Dis looked between you and Kili, and it seemed like most things clicked to her. She smiled.
"Well..."
"Dis, what does that means?" Thorin's voice came from different hall, and you noticed Fili giving you a knowing smile.
"Thorin..." you said, and he turned to you. He seemed to be confused, but then he looked at Arina.
"What does this-"
"Uncle, let's get some privacy first," Fili said.
When you came to library, Thorin turned to you. Dis stood up, as if she would want to protect you.
"Uncle...Y/N and I started courting on the quest in secret. We planned to get married, but when you announced the arranged marriges for me and Fili, we-"
"I left Erebor, because I thought you would never accept me as partner for your nephew, Thorin. I found out I was pregnant, however, I didn't want to hurt Kili's reputation or his marrige, so I never came back to announce it. He met me in Dale yesterday, and I, um...I went to labour." Thorin has been looking at you and Kili. Your body was tense, and Fili, Kili and Dis were ready to protect you any moment.
Thorin slowly closed this eyes, and placed his face into his palms. When he looked up again, he let out a sigh.
"Fili, Kili, sister, leave us alone."
"But Uncle-" Fili said, but Thorin shook his head.
"I said, leave us alone. It won't be long." They three left, and you were a bit afraid.
"Kili is a prince, yes. But, he is also a dwarf, who needs to have someone who he is happy with." Thorin said, looking away from you.
"I noticed, of course. You make him happy, Y/N. I thought it was just childish love, that you would leave, and it would break Kili's heart. I owe you honest apology, Y/N. For thinking you wouldn't take his love seriously." He looked at you, and you let out a small smile. You nodded.
"Apology accepted, Thorin. Courting Kili makes me incredibly happy, and I am honored to say he is my lover," you said, and Thorin looked at you.
"Well, and when it comes to, um...you staying, you can stay here. If you would like to."
"I'd be very thankful."
A few years later
"Fi, look!" Kili said, as Arina walked towards Kili, again. She was giggling, as her father was dancing with her. You laughed.
"Kili, be careful!"
"Daddy, look!" The little girl pointed to a butterfly, who sat on her dress.
"Yeah, it's beautiful," Kili said, and she pouted.
"Don't move, or it will fly away!" Arina let out, and let the butterfly gently walk on her palm.
"Uncle, look, I got a butterfly!" Arina showed it to Fili, who nodded with nervous face.
"Oh, it's beautiful, Ari. Would you put it, um, a bit away from me, please?" She put the butterfly on a flower, and Fili let out a breath.
"I'm sleepy, mommy." She came to you, and lean her head on your shoulder.
"Ari?" A little boy came, and the girl jumped up with grin.
"Vili!" She squealed, and started tickling her cousin.
"Granny!" Arina gasped, when she noticed Dis.
"You are growing up so fast, Ari!" She said proudly, and you two shared a look.
"Aye, that's what she does," Kili let out a chuckle, and gently kissed your cheek.

i haven't yet read Return of the King, i keep getting delayed on finishing The Two Towers, so i don't actually know what happens when Gandalf brings Frodo back to Gondor. the movies skip that part straight to him waking up, which is fair.
instead i keep imagining the remaining Fellowship members returning after the battle of the black gate. they were victorious, but it hardly felt like it. Sauron was forever destroyed, but so was the mountain two hobbits ventured inside.
when did Gandalf decide to call the Eagles to search? did he even explain to the others that Frodo and Sam could be alive, somehow?
how long did the Fellowship have to wait in silence at the White Tower? the whole city must be celebrating (and mourning) but Aragorn and Legolas would be scanning the skies for great wings while Merry and Pippin sit together telling stories about Sam and Frodo both. Every so often one of them chokes up, pauses the story, and lets the other take it up. Maybe Gimli asks questions here and there, since hobbit culture isn't so different and yet completely foreign at the same time.
eventually Legolas spots the Eagles and everyone is on their feet. as they get closer, Legolas tells them they carry two small bodies.
no one can bear to ask the question.
but the Eagles land and two battered halflings are gently set down.
Sam is bruised and disoriented from the fumes of Mount Doom and malnourished, but blessedly alive and stirring awake after that bizarre dream of being carried in a giant claw-- oh, oh dear that was real.
Aragorn is already reaching for Frodo as Gandalf dismounts. At first his heart sinks as he looks upon him. The Ring left him little more than a corpse staring into the distance, eyes glazed over and body stripped of the softness known to hobbits. Aragorn holds his little head and sees everything the Ring has taken from him, and almost begins to mourn. The Fellowship crowds behind him, some with Sam but most looking towards Aragorns grim expression.
Until Frodo blinks, hardly conscious but very much alive, Gandalf lets out a breath and Aragorn is hoisting him up to dash to inside.
The Fellowship follows, with Sam carried by Legolas (or maybe Faramir, if he was well enough?)
Frodo feels so much smaller in Aragorn's arms than he did on Weathertop. The grime on his skin and clothes; the blisters on his hands, his feet; the frail bones pressing sharply into Aragorn's hands-- they all speak of a journey no hobbit, no man, no dwarf or elf should have endured.
Aragorn would weep for Frodo's suffering later, but first comes his oath to the Ring Bearer. Gandalf says he has nearly faded, but his heart still has some strength.
Of all the halflings, Frodo likely has the best understanding of Aragorn. I like to imagine their friendship in particular. They both had to step into a role they did not ask for in order to save the world. If Frodo, the quiet, inquisitive halfling from the humble Shire, could bear the Ring to its destruction, then Aragorn, heir to Gondor and greatest of men, could take up his own burden.
And so Frodo must live. He must.

Prologue
Chapter 1: The Company
"Do you have to leave?" Lani asked as she handed me my bag, she was always the nervous one.
"Yes, it's important. Take care of things while I'm gone, I have faith in you Lani. I'll be back before you know it." Lani was like a younger sister to me, the one always hiding behind the older one. While I was going to be missing, I put her in charge of the kingdom. She knew how everything worked, she was always there next to me when I was taking care of business anyhow. Of course, after a few days of traveling to the shire I wanted to turn back to see if she was alright, but I knew I had to keep going. And eventually, I stood in front of the green door with a dwarven letter carved into it. Taking a deep breath I knocked, and the voices I had heard went quiet. It's just a bunch of dwarves, nothing to be worried about. The door opened to reveal a hobbit, not as tall as me but he was up to my shoulders.
"Uh, c-come in." He steps to the side, and I walked forward, they must've been expecting me. Setting my bag down by the front door, I took in everything. It was small and cozy, I wish my home looked like this. Continuing on I came across the thirteen dwarves Gandalf had mentioned.
"This is Y/n Y/l/n, I believed she could be a wonderful asset to our quest." The raven-haired man couldn't keep his eyes off me, it was like he was dazed, now that I think about it every dwarf's gaze was still on me. Including a young man about my height, maybe even taller. I smirked, hello handsome, my cheeks burned a shade of crimson as I realized my thought process. Gandalf nudged the man to get his attention, and he snaps out of his trance.
"My name is Thorin Oakenshield, it is a pleasure to meet you, my lady." He bowed his head slightly, giving me a small smile.
"You won't be saying that in a few seconds," I muttered, Gandalf swallowed nervously as he said his next words carefully.
"I should mention, that Y/n is also...The Queen of The Digonisks. The Soul Of The Black Dragon." Everyone's eyes widened, but no one said a word except the blond man in the back.
"What's a Digonisk?"
"There dragons, and murderers." Thorin glared at me with a fire in those blue orbs. I just rolled my eyes, of course, that's what he thought of me. Yet how could we be the murderers when their kind slaughtered mine? "I want her out, that filth cannot come on this quest with us."
"'That filth' has a name you know, and for your information, it's not really up to you now is it?" I exclaimed, he went to protest but Gandalf held out his hand to silence him.
"She can help us Thorin, she has the ability to take down Smaug. She might be the only one who can."
"I don't care." He abruptly stood, not even a foot away from me. "Leave, or I'll strike you down where you stand." Silently, I conjured a dagger and placed right against his side making him gasp.
"You'll be dead before you can even draw your sword, you should be thankful I came to help. I could've easily said no and let karma continue it's pace. Especially after what your kin did to us, you took my home, killed my people! Your no better than Smaug himself. Now sit." I forced him back into his chair, his hand gripped tightly on his blade. He wants to play does he? Bring it on.
"Enough!" Gandalf stood, making the room fill with darkness. "I brought her along, and so she shall stay, if you try to lay a hand on her I won't hesitate to lay one on you." He was furious, but as he sat back down the room turned back to normal. Each dwarf was scowling at me, except the two in the back. Right, they don't know the history between us.
"It was nice meeting you, your majesty." I bowed, and turned back towards the door. "I'll be outside, tell me when we're leaving."
"Wait! You haven't even heard about-" Gandalf stands but I raise my hand, silencing him. "At least stay and listen." I stopped, I already new of their quest, there was no reason for me to be in this room. And none of them probably didn't want me to stay anyhow.
"You can sit by us." The man in the back offered, patting the seat next to him with a smile. The other's hissed at him but he ignored their comments, making my way to the end of the table, I sit between him and the blond. Both were slightly blushing, and staring at me with those beautiful eyes though trying to make it less obvious. Thorin continues to eat his stew, making very little eye-contact with me.
"Perhaps we could do introductions? I still only know two of the people in this room."
"Right, that would be best." Gandalf agreed, and he pointed to each individual as he named them off. "Here you have Thorin, the leader of our company. Bofur, with his brothers Bomber and Bifur, then Dwalin, Balin, Gloin, Oin, Dori, Nori and Ori. Then last but not least the two next to you, Kili and Fili." None of them seemed happy, if looks could kill I would've been dead the moment Gandalf mentioned what I was. When Gandalf named off Kili, he winked at me while slightly smirking. I winked back making him look away embarrassed, I couldn't help but chuckle to myself.
"What news from the meeting in Ered Luin? Did they all come?" Balin asked, looking over at his king, who nods.
"Aye, envoys from all seven kingdoms."
"And what did the dwarves of the Iron Hill say? Is Dain with us?" Dwalin asked, Thorin hesitated as he stated his answer.
"They will not come." The other dwarves become visibly upset, I decided that this might take awhile. So I played with the little flame that came from my finger, it didn't burn me for I was immune to fire. I was in my own mind, my own little world while humming a melody.
"Can she please leave?" I heard Thorin whisper, leaning closer to the wizard. "She does not belong here." Gandalf knew nothing would get done if I stayed, so he gives me a pleading look. Happily I left the table, and headed back outside, it felt nice out here. Sitting on the pavement I watched the stars, they were a lot farther away now. My kingdom was high up in the sky, higher than the mountain of Erebor. It's far above the clouds where no eye can see, Gandalf made it that way with the help of my mother's grimoire. He made what's called a floating island, only digonisks and wizards can enter. I heard the hobbit door open, and out came Kili with a bowl of food.
"Here." Kili smiled handing me a bowl of stew. "I thought you would be hungry, so I brought you some stew."
"I'm not eating that, especially not from a dwarf." He slowly brought it back to himself, he seemed upset for some reason.
"It's not poisoned if that's what your worried about." He muttered, sitting down next to me. "Here I can test taste it." He quickly took a bite, showing that it wasn't fatal. He handed it back to me with a look of hope.
"Thank you." I took it from him, and hesitantly took my first bite. It tasted delicious, even my people didn't have soup made like this. "Did you make this yourself?"
"Ah no, Bombur made it, mostly for us but I figured you were hungry." Well at least he had some manners, he's certainly more nicer than Thorin. "Don't worry about my uncle, he just, he told me why he hates your kind. Even though that happened, you weren't the one doing the killing."
"Of course he's already spreading rumours." Kili glanced over at me with curiosity. "How about you hear my side of the story. Believe which ever one you want, it won't matter." Cause soon my people will be set free, and each and everyone of you will be filled with guilt. "My kin aren't killers, the village of Hargen had been over run by orcs. We were the first ones to respond to the crisis, and we had driven out the enemy. Yet when the dwarves showed up, Thror believed it to be us who slaughtered them. That wasn't the case, blinded by rage he started rumours about us, saying we weren't peaceful and that we were murders. There already had been rumours, but that was mostly because Digonisks are extremely powerful. The people of Middle Earth knew that if we tried, we could over power them. When they started making rumours, they thought that we would go hide in the shadows. Yet we stilled stayed strong, and when that wasn't enough..." A single tear slipped down my cheek, the horror that occurred in that building was enough to make someone insane. I quickly wiped it away, I can't let him see me weak. "...The dwarves became the true monsters, them and mankind had invited us to the grand ball. I was only a child then, but I remember I was so excited to see the tiny men that roamed our world. Most of us had showed up, and when the doors closed the explosions started."
"...I'm sorry you went through that, but if you hate dwarves so much. Why come and help us?"
"There is something in that mountain that proves my kin is innocent. Reports from Thror himself about what really happened that day. And I intend to find it, so my people can be free once again. That's the main reason why Gandalf brought me here, he showed me a letter from Thrain. Explaining where to find the reports." He looked back to sky, wondering what to say next. I continued to eat my stew, and once I was finished he offered to take the bowl from me.
"Come back inside, surely if you explain to my uncle what's in that mountain he won't hate you as much." I hadn't thought of that, but what if he decides to go burn the papers before I get there? Though he seemed like a respectful man, and if we are going to be working together on this journey then he has to see me as an ally.
"Alright, might as well give it a try." He smiled and grabbed my hand dragging me along with him. "K-Kili wait!" He seemed more excited than I, as we passed each dwarf grimaced at the sight of me.
"Uncle!" Kili exclaimed catching Thorin's attention, he immediately separated our hands. Stepping infront of his nephew he pulled out his sword, pointing it at my neck.
"I suggest you put that thing away, wouldn't want a wizard and a Digonisk fighting you now do you? I have come to show you something, it might make this trip a whole lot easier." He didn't budge, reaching into my cloak I pulled out the same scroll Gandalf had brought me. Thorin slowly took it from my hands and undid the ribbon, his eyes widened in shock at his father's handwriting.
"How did you get this?" He looked back to me, he had hope that his father was alive.
"Gandalf gave it to me, it's the main reason I'm here." Thorin seemed to be more at ease with me in the room now. Did he actually believe his father's words?
"What does is say Thorin?" Balin asked coming closer, Thorin couldn't believe his eyes. Gradually he handed the scroll back to me, and all I saw was remorse in those blue orbs.
"It was written by my father, he says that in my grandfathers room the truth about her kind remain. The real reports about what happened that day in Hargen, if this is true then..." He couldn't finish his sentence, a thousand emotions appeared at once.
"This doesn't mean anything, it could be a lie. Those reports could show something different, but we still don't know if the evidence lies in the mountain." Dwalin interrupted, making the furious look on Thorin's face return. Well so much for that, Gandalf sighs in disappointment. Even he had hope that Thorin would be reasonable, I went to head back outside but Thorin grabs my arm.
"If your coming with us, then you have to sign the contract. I won't be responsible for your death, nor do I feel like dealing with a bunch of angry dragon slayers." Balin, kindly handed me a piece of paper, inside read the rules and what not. They would not be responsible for anything that happens to me, which was fine but if I were to die who would set my people free?
"I want to add something to this, if I am to go on this journey and I die. You must set my people free, get the reports from your grandfather's room and show everyone that my people are innocent. That is all I ask." He seemed shocked at my request, although I didn't want to trust him with this kind of task it was the only way my people would be safe after I'm gone.
"Get me a pen." He grumbled, using my magic I summoned an ethereal white feather. He watched as I wrote down my terms and signed it, then when I handed him the pen he couldn't help but stare at it. It glowed brightly in his hand, never had he seen something like this. After examining it he signed his name on the line, then handed the pen to Balin who signed it as a witness.
"Welcome, Queen Y/n to the company of Thorin Oakenshield." He smiled, that made me feel somewhat welcome. At least he has manners like Thorin's nephew, maybe all dwarves aren't so bad.
"Your welcome to stay inside, get as much sleep as you can. You'll need it for the journey ahead, I have a feeling we're going to be needing those wings of yours." Gandalf suggested but Kili and Fili perked up at his comment.
"Wings? She has wings?" Kili asked coming closer, taking off my cloak I spread them. "I didn't even realize the you could fly!"
"They look a lot smaller when folded, but yes I have wings. There easy to hide under a robe, and not very noticeable." He reached over to touch them, I flinched slightly as his fingers ran over the scales.
"May I?" Thorin asked with a light blush on his face, how could the king under the mountain have rosy cheeks? I nodded, watching him cautiously as he ran his hand over my skin. He let out a small smile as he stretched them farther to get a better look. "They're huge, how could they be so small when tucked away?" He muttered, but when he realized he was getting a little into this he stepped back. That stern look returning to his features. "Get some sleep." That was the last thing he said before walking away, at least he's somewhat warming up to me. I settled in the corner of the hobbit's house away from everyone else, surrounding myself with my wings to keep me warm. After a few minutes of silence, I heard voices again except this time it was the dwarves singing a song. "Far over the Misty Mountains cold. To dungeons deep and caverns old. We must away ere break of day. To find our long-forgotten gold." Thorin's voice was most audible, and for some reason, it soothed me.
"The pines were roaring on the height, the winds were moaning in the night. The fire was red, it flaming spread. The trees like torches blazed with light." I sang along, which made the dwarves silent. The song wasn't unknown to me, everyone outside of the shire knew the story of Erebor. After a moment they sang along after I joined, but softer than before. Maybe because they loved my voice? Or maybe my voice soothed Thorin and he wanted to hear more, as he reassured me.

Good Morning,
Have you been well? I hope so. I visited the campus I'll be living on the other day with my Mother and Step-Father. It's a nice place, lots of hills and greenery. I wonder if I'll be able to feel at home there?
As for living arrangements, I signed up for a co-ed/gender inclusive/LGBTQ+ floor; as I list it out this sounds like a lot, but -in theory- this will be the most ideal. I also found out who my roommate will be, though I don't recognize the name. We had to fill out a small survey about how we live, so hopefully we're more similar than not and get along.
Meeting new people is easily the thing I am most nervous about. I've never been too good at this sort of thing. If I can't avoid them, I tend to close off a bit- which makes me seem curt and rude. I hope this won't be the case.
As for at-home life, I've sadly been unable to do any baking, nor have I had much time to find new recipes. Making sure we have enough money for college is a huge stressor at the moment, and its been taking up a lot of my time lately. I'll have to remedy that soon.
Over at my Fathers I cleaned up and reorganized my room. I'd let the space go a little bit, so it felt good to fix it and look at everything without feeling disappointed, for lack of a better word.
Currently I'm on the road with my family. We left around 06.30, if my memory serves me, and its almost 09.00 now. I love these moments, as I can just stare at the surrounding mountains, the hills and fields, the meadows- all the little things that so strongly fill my mind with thoughts of the Shire. Speaking of, I saw an insurance building with the name "Shiretown". It's so close to my town, and yet I've never seen it. Oh, and my Mother made muffins! Not from scratch, as she hadn't the urge to, but they're still good. I should try my hand at muffins the next time I bake; it seems very simple.
I feel something aweful for not being as consistent with my letters lately, and I'm sure you're all thinking "pish and tosh" each time I apologize for this. I wouldn't blame you, though I do hope you can forgive me. I know not when I may gain my proper letter schedule again, but I hope it will be soon.
Thankfully I still have some recipes I haven't shared with you yet, stowed away and since forgotten. Though I cannot remember, have I given you this recipe? If I have please do tell me, I'll promptly send you a different one.

Day 6- Redemption
Tumblr media
First off, thank you so much to everyone who has been voting all week!! I can't wait to get started on these to make this an EPIC birthday week. So the way redemption works is I took the 6 highest voted fics from the previous 5 days to give them another chance at victory. The winner of this fic will be updated on July 18th. I did copy and paste their summaries below again.
REMINDER!! July 19th (my actual birthday) is where I'll unveil a new completed fic that I've been working on all year as a special gift for you. 🥰 So plenty of Sunny material about to come your way. If you haven't gotten a chance to see the results of the previous polls, refer back to this materlist for this event.
To Spoon Feed You Comfort- Accidental Marriage AU; Marriage in the Shire is a relatively easy process. All you have to do is get your intended to eat from your hand crafted Love Spoon, and return the gesture. Bilbo was already displeased by his unexpected house guests but when the newest arrival used his Love Spoon to eat from…well none could blame the hobbit for fainting if they knew the circumstances.
Ambassador to Madness- Arranged Marriage AU (that plays a bit more like a Fake Marriage AU); All Bilbo wanted was to be an ambassador to one of the richest kingdoms in Middle Earth. Upon meeting its prince, his opinion is greatly lessened. However, Bilbo still finds himself agreeing to play the part of his consort to help free Erebor from the gold mad Thror. Turns out, Thror may not be as blind as his grandson thinks, and intends to use Bilbo to get rid of Thorin once and for all.
Bonded- Hobbits are Dragon Herders AU; The Naming Ceremony where a hobbit bonds with his dragon for the first time is supposed to be a blessing, Bilbo’s came as more of a curse when he was chosen as the Alpha-Bond. Bilbo and Smaug have never gotten along, but after a Naming Ceremony goes wrong and Smaug is fleeing the Shire, Bilbo knows he will stop at nothing until he sees their Alpha safely home.
Soul Traitor- Reincarnation Soulmate AU; Betrayal among soulmates is unheard of in all the free races of Arda, yet that’s exactly what Durin VI, King of Khazad-dûm, endures. Heartsick and angry, he damns the Valar for their choice and earns their wrath in return. He and his former love will be reincarnated until the wrong between them is righted. Thorin Oakenshield, Durin’s lastest reincarnation, believes nothing can break that curse but for the Arkenstone that was stolen so many years ago. Gandalf, the meddlesome wizard, offers a hobbit translator for their quest. Yet, this hobbit may be the key to uncovering more than just a gem. An ugly truth that has remained hidden in the misdeeds and lost words of the past, about to be unlocked and free Thorin and Bilbo from this seemingly never ending cycle.
A Mother’s Curse- Reverse Werewolf AU; A mistake made during the Fell Winter has turned Bilbo into a werewolf. Having always wondered if there was a way to reverse his curse, Gandalf believes he has found the answer. And it will require Bilbo to travel with a company of thirteen dwarves determined to take back their homeland from a dragon.
I Married an Assassin- True Lies AU; Twelve years ago, Bilbo fell for a charming man who saved his life in his university library. While he loves his husband and their son, he finds his life to be a bit…dull. So when he comes across the adventure of a lifetime, he has to take it! Only this particular adventure has the potential to crash his life around him considering his boring accountant husband might actually be an assassin who’s been doing his best to keep him out of the eyes of a terrorist organization due to a clue left behind by his mother.

Prologue
The day was quiet, quieter than a man's tomb. As I sat upon my throne, I watched as each soldier stood in their place. Protecting me from any harm that may come my way. Yet we had no harm, our world was hidden from the rest of Middle Earth. The only people allowed to find it was the wizards and they rarely ever came around.
"Everyone is dismissed from their duties," I announced, standing from my chair, it was made out of dragon scales. All different colors and sizes, and when a new child was produced by the king and queen another would be added on. It's been in my family for generations, unfortunately, none of the men in my kingdom piqued my interest. I knew I would have to marry eventually, but not today, I still had time to find the one.
"My Queen." Lani, my handmaiden came rushing in as the soldiers left. She bowed her head before continuing her speech.
"Lani, how many times have I told you not to bow?" She kept her head down as I approached, was she terrified of me?
"Right, apologies your grace. I have news from the gate, Gandalf the Grey wants your attention." Well, speak of the devil, at least something interesting is going to happen today.
"Do you know what he wants?" I asked heading towards the garden, she quickly followed.
"He says he wishes to speak with you, that it was for your ears only. And also to keep an open mind if you will." I sighed, of course, he would say that I did tend to have a temper at certain times.
"Send him to the garden, and bring us some tea from the kitchen please." She bowed once more and left to complete my request. I hated when people bowed to me, we were all the same here there is no reason for her to treat me like royalty. I was the queen, yes, but everyone in the city lived like me. Every one of us would help each other, I was just like them. Just like any other female or handmaiden, cause if they asked me for a favor I'd take care of it in a heartbeat. We didn't have much ever since The Blast, but it helped us stick together especially since with what we had lost. The flowers in the garden were blooming once more, it was a mixture of colors. Some black, blue, and even white, it truly was a sight to see.
"I see you have expanded your Kingdom, it's bigger than the last time I remembered." Gandalf smiled, engulfing me in a tight hug as a greeting.
"We're doing better, it's been a while since you've visited, how are you?" I offered him a seat on the white wooden bench, gladly he took it.
"I'm doing fine thank you, you're probably wondering as to why I visited."
"Most likely to come to check on me and how I'm doing, and no I haven't found a husband yet. None of the men in the city suit my interests." He chuckled at my comment, and happily took the cup of tea from Lani who had entered.
"Well perhaps maybe you'll find a suitor on the outside of Larthas." Outside? Did he mean past the gate? Lani handed me a cup of tea in a black glass small cup. Setting down the tray in her hands, she left me and the grey wizard to ourselves.
"What do you mean outside of Larthas? Is there a dragon that needs slaying?" I joked and he gave me a look, so that's a yes.
"His name is Smaug, over 60 years ago he took the kingdom of Erebor." Erebor, wasn't that one of the greatest dwarven kingdoms? "There is a company of thirteen dwarves being summoned to the Shire."
"No, I will not help those filthy men. Not after what they have caused us, we lost our home. It's karma if you ask me, their kingdom can stay taken over."
"I thought you might say that, which is why I brought this." He pulls out a scroll closed with a red ribbon and hands it to me. On the inside, there was a message, written in dwarvish by Thor.
"On Durin's day, the door shall be open, but not only will Smaug and the Arkenstone be present. Also the records and reports of Digonisks, the truth remains in the King's room, in his bedside table. This is only for the eyes of The Soul Of The Black Dragon." I read, my eyes widened in shock, evidence, after all these years there was evidence that my people weren't monsters. "How did you come by this?"
"Thorin Oakenshield's grandfather hid the truth from everyone, but his son found out. Thror wanted to hide it because he did not want the dwarves to be hated. He did not want to risk your people coming after his, so with Thrain's last breath, he wrote this. I found his remains in Dol Guldur, he died by starvation."
"How did you know he was there?"
"Thorin told me a rumor of where he was, and I decided to go see for myself. Thorin doesn't know, and I would like to keep it that way. He's already lost so much." Well, I guess that's something me and this dwarf have in common. We both don't know where our parent's last remains are. "I know you hate dwarves and humans for what they have done, even I have a small hatred for Thror. Yet these dwarves weren't the ones who slaughtered your family, I beg of you to help us."
"What about this Thorin? Does he know I'll be apart of this?" He shook his dead, were we not going to tell him at all?
"I figured I'd tell him if you come." He waited for my answer, as much as I despised those greedy midgets. He was right, they weren't the ones who killed my mother or my father. And if what Thrain wrote is true, my people have a chance to have their names redeemed. We could come out in the open again, we could be free.
"Alright Gandalf, I'll be there. When do we start?"
