About the people feeding fanfictions to AI: It's so fucking sad and maddening that people will do anything BUT leaving a comment. I'm so done with writing fanfiction.

Hey Anon!

I know it can be super frustrating when we don't receive the feedback that we want. I think every creator is guilty of feeling that way, because we WANT to have others share in our joy of the things we make, and when they don't, it just feels kinda....silly? I guess?

We live in the "tiktok" era, as I would dub it, where everything is so fast-paced and fandoms live one second and die another, content needs to be NOW or never, but honestly, we as fanfic writers are not 'CONTENT CREATORS'. We are fan artists, in some fashion. Whether you write, draw, sing, etc, for the joy of contributing to the fandom, and I think "fandom" has lost its way entirely these days.

Fandom is a community - and we need to support one another for the things we make, to enjoy the things we love. If we stop commenting, sharing, etc, then the fandom ultimately dies. Yes, it's discouraging to not receive feedback on something you've worked hard on, and I think we all need to work on getting back to the true values of fandom.

And with this AI stupidity? What's so fascinating about feeding words to a computer? You're losing out on the heart and soul of a story or creation. Computers don't have feelings, but we fanworks creators do, and there is a distinct difference between AI generated works and those done by real people.

My advice: keep writing. While we may not get the feedback we desire, your story will become someone's favorite. You will become the author someone gravitates towards and can't wait to see what you post next. I know it gets discouraging, I feel that way more than I like to admit, but then I get (1) comment, or one nice tag about how amazing xyz was, and I think in the end, so long as we can SEE that our joy is spreading, isn't that what it's all about? (Let's completely ignore the "write for yourself first" rule because sometimes that just gets too repetitive).

Keep creating, my friend, it's never worthless, or pointless, and people DO care, I promise. Some people just have a more quiet way of showing it.

That being said: please support your fellow creators. Share their works if you like it, drop even a little emoji comment on it to show your support. Every little bit counts, and engagement with creators is at, what I feel, an all-time low. This needs to be fixed, or creations done by real people are going to go away.

1. great question! uh.

16 episodes in total with one animator and each script is, on average, 30 pages long (= 30 minutes of runtime) im the sole editor of each episode. we also need voice actors and to do sound design. it's gonna be awhile..

2. it isn't out yet, but what we're planning on doing is having each episode be an animatic. then we'll release each script individually alongside the episode for accessibility purposes. if you want hints and concept art about the au, you can find all of that under far's #carmen dreams au tag on their tumblr, and even on my cd tag.

3. hmmmmmm actually this part got changed, so i suppose i can give you a vague hint. scarab was changed immensely during this episode and originally this change was going to present itself as scarab becoming delusional along with literal physical changes. so he believed briefly that he was a princess. bits and pieces of the original idea are still within this episode's script. not telling you which ones though.

ALSO although i'm sure people are so fucking sick of hearing my thoughts by this point, I'd like to shut down the idea that because this essentially happened over the weekend that should excuse the lack of response (since watcher doesn't work weekends or so i've heard). look, i'm a person who totally supports a work-life balance and leaving work at the office. nobody deserves to be on call 24/7. that's not healthy and it doesn't make anyone more effective at their job.

however. there is a difference between logging out from a normal workday and logging out after you've just dropped a huge announcement that you've been hyping up, and doing so on a Friday afternoon before a tour. if a brand crisis occurs outside of work hours on a perfectly normal day, there's a little more leeway in not jumping on it right away as opposed to a time when you absolutely should be monitoring digital response, if only to pick out your favorite memes and posts to share on your socials (in the alternate universe where this subscription service move went really well and everyone loved it). not knowing what's going on at a time when you shouldn't be expected to know what's going on is pretty different than doing nothing when you absolutely should be watching for company news outside of normal hours.

all that being said, even in the first case where something bad happens that you need to take action on outside of work hours, waiting until Monday morning to do anything while the problem gets worse, particularly in a case like this with so much on the line, would get pretty much every comms or PR person I know severely reprimanded or fired. yes, you have a set work schedule each week. but in the end your job is to protect the brand, and you don't get to decide when threats come at you. your job is to formulate a response as soon as you know there's a problem. if you don't do that? you don't have a job anymore.

i say this with the full knowledge that watcher likely doesn't have a full "director of communications" role that entails reputation management on staff. They have a social media manager, yes, but full on corporate communications and all this other stuff really isn't (and shouldn't be!) that person's job description. (as a person who's worked as a social media manager i have a lot of thoughts about how other roles get smushed into that one and how that's not good for anyone, but that's another post.)

is it possible that watcher has contracted an outside firm to do PR/communications? sure. but in that case, a professional firm would ABSOLUTELY be on call over the weekend to help a client. that would literally be part of the fee paid to them. if they are paying a firm, and that firm hasn't helped them formulate a response and gotten it out by now, then they need to fire that group immediately. and also factor this into the conversation about money management if they've been paying a firm (none of which are cheap!) and getting such a horrible return on investment.

long story short, if your office building caught fire over the weekend, would you wait until Monday morning to do something? even if you don't own a fire extinguisher? even if you don't have a local fire department you can call? even if you were the one who set the building on fire? no-- because by then you might not even have an office anymore. emergencies aren't 9-to-5 problems.

The Doctor, to his credit, at least had the grace to look a little embarrassed at his actions. You peeled your coat off and the Doctor took it from your hands, holding it much like one would hold a bomb. Very gingerly and very far away from their person.

"I told you," he clucked. "I thought you were in danger. I won't apologise for taking measures to preserve your very, very delicate mortality."

"No," you agreed, unsuspiciously sidling closer to the man. "And I wouldn't expect you to, dear, though, I do have to say... I think I deserve a little something for my trouble-"

i basically hc that Raz and Lili were kind of... on again, off again for a lot of their teen years? you know how teen relationship drama is lol, they'll have the loudest most messiest break-up you've ever seen and then a week later they're inseparable again. they have this super strong bond, and as they get older they realise that "i always want to be with you" and "i want to see other people sometimes" aren't mutually exclusive. (i'm also very on board with the hc that the psychic 7 were basically one big polycule so like, they have good role models lmao)

Hi! I’m looking for a bagginshield fic I read a while ago. It was post-BOTFA. Basically the plot started with Bilbo leaving Erebor because he thought he was no longer wanted there, when in reality Thorin wants nothing more than for Bilbo to stay.

There may have been a rejected marriage proposal (cultural misunderstanding), but I’m not sure. Anyhow, years (possibly) or months later, he returns for some reason and Thorin is so shocked and scared of seeing him that he avoids him for a bit.

I know there’s a scene on a balcony of sorts where the confusion gets cleared up and they finally get together (not before Bilbo eats dinner, of course).

do you know a fic like this? I’ve literally been searching for about an hour. I believe it was on Ao3 and roughly three-ish chapters long. Any help would be appreciated :) Thank you so so much and I’m so sorry for the long message 😅 have a great day/night!

He has a bit of a habit of staying up too late working on something, and tends not to sleep in after. Just goes through the next night Tired and usually stays at home.

Raz would make Ottana some lamb or quail gyros with tzatziki and one of the nicer bottles of wine he's made, if he was feeling fancy- He doesn't like to cook with magic, but also doesn't like to spend a lot of time cooking, so most of his meals are pretty straightforward.

A more basic 'you're here so you're getting lunch' meal would be greek salad and/or just straight honeycomb and some kind of bread (Actual type varies depending on his mood). And wine. Ottana's going to think he drinks a glass of fine wine with every meal because he breaks it out every time she's over. And, I mean, he makes enough wine that he could, but he doesn't actually drink a lot.
