She's Mine Now
Pairing: Loki x female reader (y/n)
Summary: You and Loki have only just started dating and you're worried your ex-boyfriend will ruin everything. You've been able to hide how often your ex contacts you but one night he calls over and over while you are with Loki. After finally admitting to Loki what has been going on, the God of Mischief takes matters into his own hands.
Warnings: controlling ex-boyfriend, jealous ex-boyfriend, some vague mentions of previous abuse (nothing specific), arguing, swearing, threatening language, name calling, Loki being super protective
A/N: I'm so so so sorry it took me ages to get to this. I'm finally going through my request box and I loved this the minute I saw it. I changed it just a little but I hope that's OK. Thank you for sending it! I hope you like it! 💚
Also... I realized as I was proofreading this that I never named the ex-boyfriend so it's whatever you want it to be lol pick any jerk you know haha
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Loki sits on the end of his couch, your head resting on his shoulder while his fingers run slowly up and down your arm. You've only been together a month but you have completely fallen for him. You look up at him and smile when he laughs at the movie you selected.
He notices you watching him and kisses your nose causing you to giggle. "The movie is more interesting than I am, I assure you," he jokes.
"I've seen it," you respond but rest your head against him again.
Everything about him makes you want to tell him how perfect he is and how deeply you love him but you are afraid to. A small voice inside you keeps holding you back from opening up to him the way you want to. Every time you told you ex-boyfriend you loved him, he would tell you that you sounded clingy or needy or desperate. You don't want Loki to feel the same so you keep those three words to yourself.
Loki's fingers move from your arm to your back, moving in slow circles. You close your eyes and focus on how calming it feels but then his hand moves further up. He begins playing with your hair, his eyes still fixed on the screen, a small smile on his lips. You try to keep your thoughts from racing as you feel a familiar pit growing in your stomach. He's upset, he doesn't like your hair this way, your inner voice starts to spread panic throughout your body, he's going to grab a fistful of it any second and yell at you. You tense as his fingers gently run through your hair and he notices the change in your behavior.
"Are you okay, love?" he asks, he removes his hand and looks down at you concerned.
"Yea, I just-" you look down and begin playing with the sleeve on your sweater as your mind replays what happened the last time you got a haircut without talking to your ex first. "I'm sorry, I- I was going to ask you before I cut my hair. I know I should have but I was only going for a trim so I thought it was okay but then I saw a shorter style I really liked and I just went for it but-"
He cuts off your words suddenly when his lips met yours, your whole body responds to his kiss and the feeling of his hand softly touching your cheek, relaxing you instantly. He pulls back slightly, his eyes locked on yours so he knows you are listening to him. "It's your hair darling. You can do what you like with it," he gently plays with the ends of your hair. "You don't need to ask me to do things like this," he says as if it is obvious.
You nod and remind yourself for the hundredth time that Loki is not your ex-boyfriend.
He settles back on the couch, bringing you with him easily, his arm around you. He smiles and adds, "I'm sorry if I forgot to tell you that you look beautiful today."
You blush and bury your face against his chest, the heavy feeling inside of you vanishing completely. He kisses the top of your head and goes back to watching the movie. You close your eyes and force the images of your ex-boyfriend's reaction from your mind, replacing them with Loki's words.
Tumblr media
Half an hour later your phone vibrates on the coffee table. You lean forward to try and reach for it but Loki keeps his arm around you. You giggle and try again but he doesn't let go. He looks down at you and smirks, "Where do you think you're going?"
Your phone continues to vibrate. "I need to answer my phone," you roll your eyes.
He looks back towards the TV and dramatically puts his foot on the edge of the coffee table, sliding it further away from you as he straightens his leg.
"Loki!" you laugh as a smile spreads across his lips. He finally loosens his grip so you can get up. You pick up your phone but as soon as you see the number, you end the call and put it face down on the table.
"Who is it?" he asks.
"Wrong number," you answer with a shrug but the laughter is gone from your voice.
You sit heavily next to him and he waves his hand to bring the table back to its original spot. He doesn't respond but you know he can tell you are lying, his expression has become serious and his eyes remain fixed on your phone. Before you can think of a better excuse, your phone begins to vibrate again. You grab it and hang up quickly without stopping to see the number, you know who is calling.
"Who is it, Y/N?" he asks again, his tone is curious but you can feel your nerves getting worse.
"It's no one," you tell him as you tug on your sleeve again.
He sighs at your response and turns off the TV. "I don't like being lied to," he says as he faces you.
"I know," you shrink away from him, waiting for him to yell or tell you to leave.
"Y/N," he reaches out to touch your chin lightly, wanting you to look at him but you flinch away from his touch involuntary. He pulls away as well, giving you more space instead of invading yours. You look up after a moment and instead of seeing anger in his eyes as you expect, he looks sad.
You know in your heart Loki would never hurt you but your instincts had forced you to distance yourself from him. When your ex was upset because you had lied or had done something he thought was wrong, he could be unpredictable.
Your phone vibrates again and he sighs as he picks it up off the table. He hands it to you and says, "Whoever it is must really want to talk to you."
"I don't want to talk to him," you tell Loki, trying to hold back your tears. You toss it away from you wanting it as far from you as possible. It skims over the top of the coffee table and lands on the ground in front of the TV.
"Who keeps calling you, Y/N?" he asks again and this time you know you need to answer him.
You tuck your legs underneath you and move further away from Loki, wrapping your arms around yourself. He shifts his body to face you but doesn't move any closer. "It's my ex-boyfriend," you tell him, you try to keep the fear from your voice but you know he hears it.
"The one Wanda told me about?" he asks, his eyes glance towards your phone and you see a flash of anger cross his face.
You nod but don't say anything else, you had barely mentioned your ex to Loki for so many reasons. You aren't sure how much Wanda told Loki but it was obviously more then you had ever shared with him.
"Please talk to me," he says, moving towards you slowly, testing to see if you will pull away again. "I don't understand why he would still be calling you. I thought you ended things with him months before I met you."
"He started calling and texting me again a few days after our first date," you finally admit to Loki. "I don't know how he even found out about us..." your voice trails off as you look down.
You feel Loki move closer to you again and your body tenses as you prepare for an argument or worse, you shouldn't have hidden this from him, it was as bad as lying.
"I'm not texting him back I promise. I always ignore him. I don't want him to call me but he just keeps doing it, I've asked him to stop but he won't," you say quickly, all in one breath. Loki opens his mouth to say something but you are too afraid to give him a chance. "I didn't want you to be upset, that's why I didn't tell you, I wasn't trying to hide anything or lie about it, I'm sorry," you feel the apology pouring out as it had so many times with your ex. You cover your face with your hands but can't stop the first few tears from escaping.
"I'm not upset Y/N," he says softly. He gently touches your hands and slowly takes them away from your face, "I'm worried about you, that's all."
You look at him, not having expected that response. When your ex found out you were texting Wanda after work, he had been furious. He had never met her and didn't want you telling a stranger anything about him or your relationship.
"I'm sorry," you mumble quietly, not even sure what you are sorry for anymore.
"Please stop apologizing," he says in a calm voice, "You haven't done anything wrong." He wipes the tears from your cheeks, his eyes never leaving yours.
You nod and without thinking you answer him, "Sorry."
He gives you a half smile and puts his arms around you, pulling you close. You squeeze your eyes shut and press your cheek to his chest as he rubs your back slowly. He holds you and sighs, "I don't know what he did to you... and I will never ask you to tell me," he adds when you look up at him, "But I need you to remember that I am not him. I never want you to be scared of me, you can tell me anything."
"I know," you wipe your eyes again. "I'm sorry-"
He raises an eyebrow at you and you let out a small laugh. "There's that beautiful smile I love so much," he smiles in return.
Tumblr media
A few hours later, Loki lays awake staring at the ceiling, wishing you hadn't left. He has told you on numerous occasions that he sleeps much better when you are curled up in his arms. Unfortunately, you need to run an errand before work tomorrow so you had gone back to your apartment after the movie finished. Closing his eyes, he rolls over but sits up quickly when he hears a faint buzzing sound.
He gets out of bed and follows the sound into his living room. Loki looks around as the buzzing gets louder until he finally sees your phone lighting up on the floor just under the tv stand. You must have forgotten you threw it there when your ex-boyfriend was calling. He was worried when you didn't text him to say you arrived home like you always did, so at least now he knows why.
He stands still for a moment, watching it ring as he debates what to do next. The call ends and he bends down to pick it up then he takes a seat on the couch. After a few seconds, it vibrates once more notifying him that there is a new voicemail.
He sits back, phone in one hand with his other hand over his eyes. Loki trusts you more than anyone he has ever known, on Midgard or on Asgard and doesn't want you to think he's invading your privacy. It's not you he wants to check up on, it's your ex-boyfriend. Everything he knows about him, he heard from Wanda in one very short but eye opening conversation. She only told him what little she knew but it was enough for Loki to know that you deserved better. He sounded like a man you weren't safe with and your reaction to his calls tonight confirmed that for him. Loki would do anything to protect you so he takes a deep breath and unlocks your phone.
Thankfully he remembers your password, you had told him what it was last weekend so he could send himself some pictures you took together at the museum. He opens your call history and covers his mouth with his hand in shock. Fifty-three missed calls in the last week alone, he stares at the number in disbelief. You hadn't answered a single call but still he attempted to reach you over and over. Most of the calls came in groups late at night, like they had while you were watching the movie.
He opens your texts, feeling both guilty for looking around and angry knowing what he will likely find. He smiles a bit when he sees how you've saved his name in your phone, Mischief 💚, but immediately frowns when he sees an unsaved number right below his conversation with you.
He clicks on it, at first he barely reads the words, he just scrolls further and further down hoping to find the end. He sees text after text after text, some are long rants while others are a single insulting word and it seems to go on forever. Once a day is a text from you pleading with him to leave you alone but it only seems to enrage him.
Loki quickly goes from upset to angry to furious as he reads the threats and insults your ex-boyfriend had thrown at your over the last few weeks. He grinds his teeth as he thinks about you being afraid of your ex and the things he has done to you. He sits back and types out a lengthy reply but at the last second he deletes it.
With a smirk he sits forward with his elbows on his knees and begins to type a new, much shorter message. He hits send and waits a few moments. Your phone vibrates when your ex replies and Loki turns off your phone before going back to his room.
Tumblr media
You look both ways and cross the street quickly, excited to finally see Loki for lunch like you do every day. You spot him sitting on his usual bench just past the entrance to the park, lost in his book. You smile when he looks up, his book vanishing as he stands. He hugs you tightly then leans down to give you a kiss.
"I missed you," you tell him, his arms still around you.
"Then you shouldn't have left last night," he smiles. "Oh, I believe this is yours," he takes your phone out of his pocket.
"Thanks. I can't believe I forgot it, that was really stupid," you shake your head. You had realized when you got home last night that you had left it at Loki's but it was too late to go back.
Your heart stops when you realize its your ex-boyfriend. You look up at Loki, one of his arms is still around you but his eyes are fixed to your ex as he approaches with a wide smile and outstretched arms.
"You are not stupid," he corrects you and before you can respond you see someone walking over to you.
He continues towards you and when your brain finally registers that he is trying to go in for a hug you free yourself from Loki and quickly back away. Loki moves in response, putting himself easily between you and your ex which causes him to stop.
"Seriously Y/N?" he says, already sounding annoyed with you. "I drove all the way out here for lunch with you and you won't even give me a freaking hug? You're lucky I accepted your ridiculous invitation after you kept ignoring me."
Loki says, "Y/N did not invite you here, I did."
"Oh really?" he's looks from you to Loki and seems unphased that he is face to face with the Prince of Asgard. "What, are you looking for some tips on how to control her better?" he laughs to himself. "Of course, if you've decided you're done with her, I'll gladly take her back. I put years into fixing her, wouldn't want that to go to waste."
You take another step back as his eyes find you again and they roam up and down your body. You suddenly wish you hadn't worn a skirt and you cross your arms tightly around yourself. He always commented on how you dressed, he had so many opinions on what he wanted you to wear.
Loki notices how uncomfortable you are and brings the attention back to himself. "Do not look at her, this conversation is between you and me," he tells your ex.
He sighs and says, "Fine, what do you want?"
Loki holds his anger at back and in a controlled tone says, "You will apologize for how you treated her in the past and then you will leave, never return here or contact her again."
He almost laughs and says, "I treated her the way she deserved. She needed to learn how to behave and you should be thankful I trained her as well as I did."
Your eyes dart from your ex to Loki and your heart races with anxiety about what might happen next. Loki doesn't respond at first, you watch his fist clench and his jaw tighten. He looks like he is holding himself back from lashing out with every bit of strength he has.
"You have no idea what she was like before. When I first met her-" he tries to look at you but Loki cuts him off.
He walk steadily forward, glaring at him as approaches. "I will not stand here and listen to a pathetic mortal like you speak poorly of Y/N. She is kind, funny, generous, creative, beautiful and so much more. She never deserved to be mistreated by the likes of you. Y/N is a queen and I will ensure she is treated as such."
You can't take your eyes off of Loki, you've never had anyone speak about you this way before.
Loki stops just in front of your ex and says, "If you ever speak to her, text her or see her again, I will make sure you suffer greater than any human on Midgard has ever suffered before."
Your ex-boyfriend looks at him in shock but it quickly morphs into anger, he does not take being challenged or threatened well. He takes a small step backwards and says, "You can't just threatened me like that. You might be some fancy royal on your planet but here your just another asshole. If I want to talk to her, I will. She was mine once and I could take her back if I really wanted to."
As soon as the words come out of your ex's mouth, you know he finally pushed Loki too far. Loki's full armor and tall horned crown appear in a bright flash of gold and green. Your ex goes quiet in an instant as you are both reminded that Loki truly is a God among men.
The God of Mischief looms over him, staring down at him, daring him to speak again. Loki raises one hand and suddenly your ex is picked up by his throat, a green mist surrounding his neck. He tries to claw at it but Loki's magic brings him closer, until they are eye to eye. In a dark voice, Loki says, "She's mine now."
Your ex-boyfriend looks utterly terrified and a part of you can't help but enjoy seeing the fear in his eyes after all the pain he inflicted on you. You watch, your heart still pounding quickly. As much as you want your ex to suffer, you are afraid Loki will go to far, you've never seen him so angry. Look had worked so hard over the last few months to gain the trust and support of the Avengers, if he hurts your ex he will have to face serious consequences. As much as you hate your ex-boyfriend, its not worth risking Loki's future with the team or with you.
Loki's magic brings him closer, until the are inches from each other, his feet dangling helplessly above the ground. "Do not doubt for a moment that I will do what needs to be done to protect the woman I love. Is that clear?" Loki asks and he nods rapidly in response.
Loki releases him from his grasps and he falls to the ground. Getting up quickly, he runs from the park without looking back.
Loki's magic vanishes, his crown and armor fading away in the breeze as he turns to face you. The determination and rage in his eyes is gone, replaced with his own nervous fear. Your eyes remain locked on him as he slowly walks towards you.
"Y/N," he asks softly. You don't answer, your mind still processing the events from a few moments ago. "I'm sorry, I never meant to let my temper get so out of control but I just couldn't bear to listen to him talk about you for another moment," he explains and you nod in understanding.
He reaches out to take your hand, looking down as your finger interlock and sighs. "I told you not to be afraid of me and then I showed you exactly what kind of terrifying monster I really am. I never wanted to scare you, I only wanted him to leave you alone."
"You um..." you pause, biting you lip as you think. "You said you love me?"
"Loki," you close the distance between you and touch his cheek with your other hand. "I could never be scared of you." He looks at you slowly and you smile, he breaths a sigh of relief and smiles in return.
He laughs and relaxes completely, his arm wrapping around your waist. "Darling, I have loved you from the first time we spoke," he tells you. "You mean everything to mean."
You reach up and kiss him, his hands move down your back to hold you flush against his body. You look up, still pressed together and say, "I love you too. Thank you for keeping me safe from him."
You rest your head on his shoulder and he kisses the top of your head. "I promise, I will always protect you, you just need to tell me what is bothering you," he swears.
You smile when you look into his eyes and see how much he means it. He leans down to kiss you again and between breaths he whispers, "Mine."

A fun day
Thor: *he gets into his car and starts driving* that was a fun day, wasn't it, Haven?
Silence
Thor: Haven? *he turns to look at the backseat, no baby in sight, his heart drops* oh no. *he drives back to the park, no Haven* shit
*30 minutes later*
Thor: *he enters the cottage* brother I- *he flinches at the stab* oh yes, deserved that *he groans at the next stab* that too *he drops to his knees from the punch in the gut* and that
Loki: *holding Haven, seething* you left my daughter?!
Thor: I thought she was behind me!!
Y/N: you're digging a bigger hole, Thor!
Loki: *he kisses Haven's head and glares at Thor* it's okay, Haven, no more play dates with Uncle Thor until you're much older
Y/N: and even then, supervised.
Thor: but-
Loki: I could kill you right now for leaving my darling princess. I never felt so terrified as when she called out to me screaming. I heard her from New York, Thor, New York!
Thor: apologies won't lessen your anger?
Y/N and Loki: NO!
~~~~~~~~
Idk what this is, I'm half asleep and needed to write it 🤷
Something Real: Chapter Six
Pairings: Loki X Reader
Warnings: Language, Mild Violence, Fluff and Smut
Summary: An incident happens at Readers job. Reader shares her own insecurities with Loki. Loki makes Reader feel better 😈
Masterlist
Tumblr media
A few weeks have gone by and things have been going well since you introduced “Aunt Sylvie” to the kids. They really don’t have too much interaction with her, when they go visit Thor at his house she either leaves or stays in her room.
You and Loki have gotten…closer…you haven’t had sex yet but you both are certainly taking your time exploring each other’s likes and dislikes. For you it was more of a review of things you already knew about Loki but for him, he was learning your body’s reactions to things. He technically had never been with you before, in his timeline he never came back to be with you.
Currently you’re at work at the nurses station, staring off into space, distracted by thoughts of Loki.
“Hello..Earth to y/n!!”
You shake your head.
“Oh shit…sorry Kelly.” Kelly was one of your fellow nurses in the hospital, the hospital in New Asgard was a combination of the healing practices of Asgard and Earths practices as well. Some donations came from Wakanda, mostly medical equipment and technology. It was a wonderful place to work and you loved helping people, the people of Asgard have always been so kind to you. All of them treating you and your children with the respect that comes with being related to Loki the fallen prince.
“It’s alright, you ok?”
“Yea, just a lot on my mind..”
“I can imagine, how are the kids?”
“They’re great, all A’s and B’s. Their magic is finally under control thanks to Loki, they’re wonderful.”
“And Loki? How’s everything going with him?”
“It’s…going..”
“Uh oh..”
“No, everything is great. Having him around is everything that I have been wanting for the kids.”
“What about you y/n?”
“I just..it’s just too good to be true you know? Im waiting for the other shoe to drop.”
“I think the other shoe dropping was him dying y/n… This is your second?..No! Third chance with him…you’re going to regret it if you waste your time.”
You knew she was right, you just couldn’t help but feel those same insecurities you felt before with Loki, what if you weren’t enough? You knew he would never leave the boys but he didn’t have any obligation to you. He didn’t have to be in a relationship with you in order to have a relationship with his children.
“Hello? Can I get some help please?”
You look up and see a middle aged man, he was sweating and looked a little worse for wear.
“How can we help you?” You ask.
“I’m having some abdominal pain.”
“Ok, let’s get you in an exam room and get you seen.”
You escort him to one of the exam rooms and get him situated, you get his name and the rest of his information. Immediately there’s a warning on your tablet, this gentleman has been flagged in other hospitals and emergency rooms for abusing the system in order to get drugs. How did he even get in to New Asgard? Not too many humans were walking freely around just yet but tourism was starting to pick up so you assume the guards haven’t been as picky about who they are letting in the gates.
“Ok Stanley..I’m gonna go grab the doctor, you sit tight ok.” You didn’t want to alert him that you knew what he was really there for, you needed to get to the guards quietly so they can deal with him without too much of a fuss.
Just when you were about to leave the room he grabs you and covers your mouth with his hand. You feel something poking you in your lower back.
“Alright lady, this is how it’s gonna work..you’re gonna get your little nurse friend to bring you some of the shit that I need and I will walk out of here quietly..no need to make a fuss.”
You try not to panic and your brain immediately flashes images of your boys. You needed to be smart about your next move in order to get out of this.
“Nod if you understand.”
You nod.
He releases you and you turn around to look at him and see a gun pointed at you, “I’m just a nurse I can’t prescribe you anything.”
“No, but you can still get me what I need, I know the shit you have in this hospital is different. Sent here direct from Wakanda. Their shit has to be the purest of the pure.”
You move over to the cabinet next to you and act like you’re reaching for a bottle of pills, he doesn’t know it but there are panic buttons in every single one of our exam rooms. You press lightly on the button and pull out the pill bottles you had in there.
“I only have antihistamines in here, all of our pain killers are locked up in a secured room.”
“Well then, lets take a walk..”
“You don’t want to do this Stanley…We can get you help.”
“I don’t need help lady! I want the drugs you got in this place, I’m dying to taste that Wakandan high..” he smirks evilly at you.
He reaches for you and pulls your body into his hold, putting the gun against your back. As he starts to walk to the door guards burst through.
He takes the gun and places it next to your head, “move and I kill her.”
“Drop the weapon! Do you have any idea who you are threatening presently?!”
“I don’t give a shit who she is..she’s just another person in my way from what I need. Now get me some pills and I will leave here without hurting anyone.”
“You’re not getting anything from us..release her.”
“No! Get me my shit now!” He cocks the gun, your body starts to shake and you start to cry. You didn’t want to die.
“Move! Out of my way!” You hear Thor’s booming voice first and then you see him and Val burst through the front line of guards holding their weapons up ready to take out the addict.
“Release her. Now.”
“Oh, an Avenger? This your boyfriend?” He sneers down at you.
“No..he’s not.” Stanley whips around to the voice that came from behind you both. And you see Loki there looking furious. “I am. Do as my brother says and release her and I will not maim you.”
“Fuck off pretty boy.” Stanley sneers at Loki.
“Wrong answer.” Loki sneers right back.
Stanley stood still for a moment then yells, “fuck you and your bitch!”
You close your eyes as you feel him pull the trigger but no loud bang followed. Nothing does, the man behind you is completely still. You open your eyes and dare to look up and over your shoulder and see Stanley is not moving at all, completely frozen in place.
“Come here darling, it’s alright.” You look over at Loki and he is holding his hand out for you to take.
You immediately reach out to him and as soon as he has your hand in his he pulls you to his body, hugging you tightly.
He kisses you on the top of your head and holds you close. “It’s alright, you’re ok”, he looks over to Thor, “you can remove the weapon from him Thor. He won’t move until I drop the enchantment.”
Thor removes the gun from his hands and one of the guards moves to put him in chains, once he’s secure Loki drops the enchantment.
Stanley’s eyes blink a few times until he recognizes his predicament, “what?! What the fuck?! How?!”
“Be thankful this is not the Asgard of old, Odin would not have been able to stop me from ripping you apart.” He nods at the guards and they drag Stanley.
Loki looks down at you and takes your face in his hands, “are you ok?”
You nod, your nerves were still on hyperdrive so you couldn’t speak just yet.
“Y/n, I just need you to tell me exactly what happened and then you are free to go home, take the rest of the today and tomorrow off to rest.” Val tells you.
You nod and tell Val about what happened as best you could. Your adrenaline was starting to wear off and your body was starting to shake uncontrollably.
“I think that is all you need, I’m taking her home.” Loki gets up with you and he makes a portal to your house. Thor followed you both through.
“I am going to pick up the children this afternoon after school and take them to my house, when you’re feeling better I will bring them home. Alright?”
You nod and Loki says the words you can’t verbalize, “thank you brother. I will inform you when you can bring the children back.”
Thor nods walks over to you and gives you a hug, “be well sister.” He nods his goodbye at Loki and walks out the door.
Once Thor leaves Loki turns his attention toward you, “y/n..will you speak to me please?”
You don’t say a word just stare at him and then your body is in motion and your kissing him with so much force his body bows back.
“Whoa..whoa..easy darling..what’s this about?”
Your eyes fill with tears from the mix of emotions you’re feeling. You’re thankful that you’re alive, you feel some remnants of the adrenaline that was coursing through you and now you feel rejection.
“Sweetheart you need take a moment and process what just happened to you. I know exactly what is going on in your mind right now. So many emotions and nervous energy, you don’t know where to direct it. Take a breath. Breathe with me. Just be here with me.”
You’re both standing in the middle of the room, he’s still holding you close and swaying your body back and forth.
After a long period of silence you quietly whisper to him, “thank you for saving me. How did you know?”
“Val sent a message to Thor about the panic button being pushed at the hospital, I was with him when he received it and we immediately went there. When we arrived your friend Kelly informed us you were the one who pushed the button for help. I was so worried darling, seeing you there in that man’s grasp..a gun to your head..it was terrifying for me I can only imagine what terror you were feeling.”
“Will you kiss me please?” You ask him.
He smiles softly at you and gives you a sweet kiss.
“I was so afraid..it’s funny I was talking to Kelly before all of that happened about us. About how I was feeling stupid insecurities about you and our relationship. I almost died today, I almost wasted this chance with you and our family.”
“What insecurities?” He asks.
You look down, feeling some embarrassment about your feelings.
“I just…are you sure I’m enough? You wouldn’t rather be with someone that isn’t so fragile and helpless?..temporary?..”
“My girl, you are more than I deserve. I want to protect you from any and all things. And when it comes to you being temporary…I’m going to be honest with you, I try not to think about your mortality…I choose to enjoy every single moment I have with you, I will cherish everything I experience with you and our family. And when it is time for you to follow my mother to the stars, I will be forever broken until we meet again.”
You kiss him, this time with no urgency just with the passion you wanted to show him to thank him for coming to your rescue and now his reassurance.
The kiss continues and Loki places his hands on your lower back and pulls you closer, your hands wrapping around his neck.
Tongues start dancing together and moans start to fill the quiet room.
Loki places his hands under your bottom and lifts you up and you wrap you legs around his waist. He walks towards your bedroom and presses you against the door, kissing you even deeper than before. He starts to gyrate his hips against you, his hardened member rubbing against you sending pleasure through your whole body.
“Loki please. I need you.”
He pulls you off of the door, your legs still wrapped around his waist and throws you onto the bed. He resumes kissing you and rubbing on you, both of you still fully clothed.
You frantically start to reach for the bottom of his shirt to remove it, he extricates himself from you and lifts his shirt over his head, throwing it on the floor.
He kneels over you and stares at you while you rub your hands on his chest, enjoying the feeling of his hard muscles.
He leans down and kisses you again and you both touch and grind together until you are both a moaning mess.
“Fuck..y/n..”
You rip your scrub shirt off and Loki puts his hand over yours when you move to take off your pants.
“Are you sure y/n? I don’t want you to do anything you are not ready for.”
“Please Loki..I need to feel you. I’ve waiting long enough..”
With those words Loki quickly removes the rest of yours and his clothing with his magic. He moves slowly on top of you and kisses you lightly and you can feel his hard cock in between you legs. You kiss some more as he rubs himself on your pussy to get him nice and wet.
Once he was confident he was slick enough he started to slowly press into you. It had been so long that to Loki it felt like he was deflowering a virgin. You were so tight around him he was close to cumming already.
“Oh darling..oh…mhmm..that’s it my girl. Open for me.”
You spread your legs wider to give him more room and you take a deep breath. He was so big, bigger then you remember.
“Fuck Loki..you’re so big..”
“I know darling, but you are taking me so beautifully. You were made to be filled by my cock….mhmm…Gods..”
His cock is finally all the way seated inside of you, you can feel the tip of him brushing against your womb. Every thrust brings the most heavenly feeling, your emotions again get the best of you and you start to silently cry.
Loki hears your quiet sniffle and immediately looks at your face, “darling? Are you alright? Do you want to stop?”
“No! No please!” You wrap your arms around his neck and bring him down to you again holding him to you.
“Alright darling, shushh…breathe my heart…here..” he places your hands on his waist. “Guide me, show me how you want me..”
You move your hands to his ass and start to guide his thrusts, showing him how fast and hard you wanted him to fuck you.
“Mmm..delicious darling…you feel so good..fuck..you’re close my girl..I can feel it..your pussy is fluttering around my cock so beautifully...do you want to cum my love?”
“Yes! Yes!”
Loki rises up a bit and moves his hands to the headboard for leverage, his thrusts become harder and faster. He’s slamming himself into you and all you can do is just hold on and then it felt like the dam broke. You came so hard you can feel your juices squirt out of you all over the sheets beneath you, Loki’s frantic breathing and desperate moans bringing you back to reality.
“Fuck..fuck…fuck..I’m cumming..fuck..y/n!”
Loki pumps himself into you a few more times, you can hear the sounds of your combined juices as he slowly comes to a stop.
“Fuck…” Loki falls on top of you, his weight an odd comfort.
“Shower?” You ask.
He lifts his head and gives you a dazed look and nods his head heavily.
He pulls out of you and picks you up off the bed and brings you into the shower where you both wash each other. He makes love to you again, the feeling of being free to show each other affection this way overpowers whatever remaining feeling of anxiety you had left from your ordeal.
The next morning you wake up to a text from Thor, he sent a picture of him with the boys eating breakfast. All three of them with silly smiles on their faces, you smile at the picture and read the message underneath it.
“I hope you are doing well. The boys did all of their homework and we will be departing to go to school shortly. They say they love you both.”
You smile at the message and respond, “thank you Thor, for everything. Loki and I will pick them up from school later.”
He likes the message and you look over to the other side of the bed and find it empty.
You run your hand over the sheet and feel that it is cold so he has been out of bed for a while.
You get up, freshen up and walk out of your bedroom. The first thing you notice is that the house smells..amazing. You follow the smell and it leads you to the dining room where Loki is setting up the table with one hell of a breakfast spread.
“What’s all this?”
He looks up and smiles his signature smirk, “breakfast for a Queen…my Queen.” He walks over to you and kisses you softly.
“How are you?” He asks.
“I’m ok, still a little shaken I think but I’m ok. I told Thor we would pick up the kids from school. I want to see them.”
“Of course darling, how about we enjoy the day together just us and then we will pick up the boys together and have a nice evening together as a family.”
“I like the sound of that.” You lean up on your tippy toes and give him a kiss.
“Thank you Loki, for everything.”
“Of course darling..I love you.”
“I love you too.”
You kiss him one more time and then walk over to the table.
You enjoy your breakfast and a quiet afternoon with Loki. Kelly called you to check in and you let her know you were ok and would be back to work on Monday.
It was time to pick up the boys from school so you and Loki made your way to the school.
The bell rings and the kids file out of the school, you see Narfi and Vali and they make a run for it towards you as soon as they see you.
“Mom!” Narfi yells and throws himself into your arms, Vali wraps his arms around your waist and gives you a big hug.
“Oh my boys, I missed you.” You voice starts to shake a little and your eyes fill with tears.
You need to get in control of your emotions…
“You ok mommy?” Narfi asks, the boy able to sense your emotions.
“Yea baby I’m ok, like I said I missed you both.”
“We were only gone for a night mom geeze.” Vali says.
“Come on, let’s go home.” Loki smiles at his family, he rubs your back knowing that you are feeling a flood of emotions you weren’t sure how to control.
You smile at him and grab Narfi’s and Vali’s hands and start your walk home.
When you get there it’s just like a normal day, the boys get out their homework in the living room with Loki assisting them while you got dinner ready.
Once they finish and you are done preparing everyone’s meal you all sit down at the table and the boys fill the previously quiet home with stories from their day or things they couldn’t wait to tell their dad about. Their laughs bringing a smile to your face and then you had a small moment of panic, what if you weren’t here? What if that man had shot you and you died? You would never experience this with your family ever again. How close you had been to losing all of this.
You start to feel the tears in your eyes again and you stand up from your seat and start to clean up the kitchen. Loki notices your quick departure and get’s up taking his empty plate with him making it seem he was leaving the table to assist you.
“Darling…”
“I can’t shake it Loki.”
“I know.” He moves your body so you are facing him, your back against the sink.
“Close your eyes. I want you to focus on nothing but the sounds coming out of that room you just left.”
You do as you are told and close your eyes and shut out all sound except for what is coming out of the dining room. You hear your boys, laughing and giggling as they finished their meals and it brings a smile to your face.
“Now, open your eyes and I want you to focus on what is in front of you.”
You open your eyes and are immediately met by his intense stare. The feeling of gratitude now filling you. You were so grateful you were here with your children and the man you love. You lean up, give him a sweet kiss and then he rests his forehead on yours.
“Thank you.” You whisper to him.
“Hey!!! Did you guys just kiss!!!”
You look up at Loki eyes wide and he has a wide grin on his face.
“Oops.”
Isn't bite also touch?
Chapter two, check chapter 3 here!
(Loki X Female demon!reader)
SUMMARY: Loki was saved by a demon and now the demon girl is attached to him like a cat is attached to catnip.
Is this trickery? Is this Devil lying to Loki to gift him punishment?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were feeling overwhelmed. You didn't realize teaming yourself up (a thing you had only accepted in your head, you never confirmed it out loud to him) with an alien God would include being so close to human problems.
The problem was: the constant tracking, you could sense it everywhere. You were honestly starting to get quite paranoid. Any stranger staring for too long could be a spy.
The spell you put on both of you remained unspoken among you and Loki, although you suspected he could sense it too.
You were used to getting away from humans and their machines, but you've never once had to deal with the mightiest heroes all together in a constant attempt to find you. Cops were one thing, government was another, but secret organizations and superheroes were something you've never dealt with.
It was both overwhelming and exciting. The adrenaline of running from something new, but also pretty tiring, the silence among you and Loki wasn't helping all that. Plus, it was beginning to get a little awkward the more you walked.
“We should stay somewhere, for a bit.” you suggested, the two of you were beginning to guess you weren't going anywhere in your path, and the day was starting to set.
“You know I have a much better plan: you let me lead our destination, how about that?” Loki said, angrily kicking some rocks with his boots.
“And how will I know you're taking us somewhere safe?”
“Why do you want safety? We're in constant danger no matter what.” He had a point.
“Well…” That made you still and look away for a little. “Where do you want to go?”
Loki looked at you sternly as if the answer was most obvious, but as he opened his mouth to speak, he hesitated.
Asgard? Thor would know and they'd be found. What chance would he have if he decided to fight once again to gain Midgard for himself?
“Do you still want Earth?” You asked. “It's a pretty big ambition, I'll say. I have power and I don't want to dominate this race, the humans they're…too… emotional.”
“I don't care if they're emotional or not, which I reckon they are.” Loki agreed with you while choosing not to look in your eyes “However… I was born for this, being king. Having a kingdom and ruling it's basically my destined birthright, my glorious purpose.” He said the last three words with disdain, seemingly also lost in thought.
“Do you want to be king?” you looked at him excited. “Why didn't you just say so? I'll make you a kingdom to rule! I can create one myself,”
He looked at you oddly, analyzing your excitement, you weren't expecting this reaction from your statement but you didn't care. “Or maybe you want Asgard instead of Earth? That'll be more difficult, we'd have to get rid of the king they have.”
You didn't look at Loki while speaking and your eyes widened with multiple plans, turning back to finally look at his face.
“Oh, that's your father isn't it? The king.”
“No, he's not-”
“I recall reading somewhere about the famous sons of Odin. Is he still king? We could get rid of him easily seeing as he's so old,” you mumbled the last sentence a bit to yourself but Loki heard.
“He's not my father.” He said but was still quiet, studying your way of dealing with things. Everything seemed so simple and the idea of 'getting rid of someone' to you carried no guilt.
“What is it?” You frowned in confusion. “Don't you want to?” You look down at your feet, “we don't need to kill him if that's not what you wish, I'll let you make the plan. Do you want to go right now?”
That made Loki go silent for some time to resonate with the options. He recognized this was your way of granting him the choice and giving him some of the freedom he complained about, in a way.
Loki was lost in thoughts of how to use it for his favor of course, with a being as powerful as you seemed to be, why not make use of the fact you're letting him be in control?
Loki didn't know you could perceive his deceitful intentions, you hid a smirk to yourself, watching his expressions.
He sighed and shared a look with you, “We could make a plan but not right now, I don't think we can step in Asgard today.” He concluded.
You watched the trees around you, having an idea. “Do you want me to pick? I could make us a temporary shelter for the night. I'll make it very cozy, for me, of course,” You analyzed the place around you, “You got all that 'the cold doesn't affect me' thing going on so I'll make myself a nice little fireplace to sleep close to.”
“Fireplace? Cozy shelter? I mean, really? Here goes me thinking you were going to keep me hostage on an alien planet I've never heard of.”
You look amused. “Is there an alien planet you haven't been to?” Now you're curious.
“Oh yes, multiples. I traveled a lot as a prince but never got the chance to meet them all. I thought you'd have a vast knowledge in astronomy given you're good at everything, as you said so yourself.” He teased you and you couldn't help but chuckle.
“No… actually, I've never been off Earth.” That's all he needed to know that you wanted to share.
It wasn't a lie, you were a demon and a master in the arts of Chaos. You had the experience of traveling to other dimensions, in which you've seen other gods, angels and creatures of any place. But, technically, this is your reality and you've never had the time to actually transfer yourself personally to space, any realm or planet.
But he didn't need to know all that.
“Ok so, turn around!” You suddenly exclaimed to the confused god.
“What? Why?” He asked, and he couldn't fathom why but did turn around.
With his back to you, you made sure he wasn't looking but he could sense your playfulness. “I seriously hope you won't attempt to murder me, it would certainly be very inconvenient. In addition… I'd win because I'm an immortal god, and then I'd need to hide your body-” he kept saying smugly at the end until you shushed him.
He opens his mouth ready to argue as he didn't accept being told to keep quiet, until you allowed him to turn his back again. He was about to do so anyway, with a finger pointed at you ready to give a possible threat.
But he stopped in his tracks and, still open-mouthed, he gasped quietly watching the sudden wooden cabin in front of him.
“Where did that come from?” his finger now pointed to the cabin in an extreme dramatic manner, his body leaning close to you, you couldn't help but laugh.
“Ta-daaaaa!!” you playfully sang. “Hey, it's the power of magic!” you showed off a bit of the sparkles in your hands by moving your fingers in a weird dance. “What do you think? It's protected by my magic, so we can spend the night.”
Loki was still a bit astounded, and he had a lot of questions. However, looking at the cabin he couldn't help but push the questions aside, it was indeed very tempting, and they were restless. The god couldn't be blamed for he had been captured, rescued and now is running away all in the same day. His suspicions couldn't help but be overly flourished, for he didn't even know the little witch's intentions.
Although he had a strong doubt witches were able to build cabins out of nothing, out of nowhere. He kept trying to understand but found no answers.
 He decided that maybe a restful night may actually be needed, and it wouldn't hurt, perhaps he could make a plan meanwhile.
They both got inside, and as promised it was the definition of comfort. The light was dimmed but matching the fire coming from the fireplace, making the place look all warm. He wasn't sure the woman knew he, in fact, enjoyed warmth.
“If it's too much for you, we can always clear the fire and I can make a…oh, what's it called?” you wondered for a second, “the thing the humans have…” you snapped your fingers in an attempt to remember the word, and furrowed your eyebrows.
Loki did too, confused and often questioning to himself what kind of being you were, “I haven't spent much time in the modern world but I believe you're talking about air-conditioners?”
“Yes!” you pointed at him excited, “yes, that's it! Do you want it?” he chuckled and took a while to answer you, looking amused.
“No, no. I'm alright, it's actually…nice, comfortable, I presume.” he looked around and then at you again. With a 'thank you' ready to be said, it was on the tip of his tongue ready to be pronounced.
But he couldn't, something inside him made him stop. Something told him he couldn't express that gratitude, it felt wrong to him, so he kept quiet after that.
You nodded, “Oh, it's nothing! I said I'd make it nice for the night!” you moved as if you knew the place, which he supposed was true due to you having brought everything up to existence with your bare hands. He made a mental reminder to maybe ask you in the future how you did that, what magic or spell you used.
Loki had his interdimensional pocket, he could conjure any object out of nowhere , that's for sure. Still, bringing a whole cabin with magic was completely new to him.
You got some pillows from the upper floor as he explored around the place. He observed as you fluffed out the pillows and delicately placed them in a patterned circle on the floor, a spot in front of the fireplace.
Grabbing the forgotten blanket that he conjured earlier from where you had left on the couch as you arrived, you made yourself comfortable and wore it around your shoulders once again, making it present like a sort of green cape. He appeared amused at the image, thinking to himself of his own cape — that he was not wearing at the moment.
You patted the rough wooden floor by your side and looked at him. “Come here, man.” you invited.
“Man?” he reaffirmed mischievously, trying to hide the slight offense, “you know I'm a god,” it sounded like a broken record at this point, “it'd do you well to refer to me properly.”
You quirked an eyebrow. “I'm not afraid of gods, Your Majesty, why must you act so princely now?” you simply said, once again patting the place beside you. He sat down, you shared a look with him before asking. “Maybe you'd like to drink some wine? I could get us some.”
“I believe you'd drink it too?” he questioned while not so subtly gazing at the mask you're wearing, and touching the area near his chin as a demonstration. “You'd have to take it off, you know.”
You smile under the mask, “yeah, I know. Better not.” you quite liked the mystery, and knowing how frustrated he got for not seeing your full face.
“Why? Are you ugly? Is there an outrageous mystery attached to your face? Because it only fuels my curiosity if there is… or could it be a midgardian sense of insecurity? I assure you, I'm beyond judging you for your appearance, if you're insecure, that is.”
You know what he was trying to do, “Not gonna' work, Mischief.” you gave him a wink, “I'm not insecure…” for some reason those words sounded weirdly defensive, quieter, even for you, it made you cringe afterwards.
“I'm not.” you reaffirmed more sternly now. Somehow making him more confused, but he didn't seem scared, he gave you a soft smile.
“I see. Then you're not. It's good to know.” His smile was still present and he held your gaze, “I guess that only leaves me with the belief that you must be frighteningly beautiful.” His voice was low as he said that, it made you doubt the fire's capacity of not making you shiver.
You couldn't grasp your head around why you felt relieved the God of Mischief was not afraid of you, but you were relieved, that was unquestionable, you felt it within every part of yourself.
“Not like you're going to find out.” you moved a bit further from him, bending your body back and slowly getting up. He still gave the impression of delightment at your obvious embarrassed reaction, you rushed to the kitchen and checked through the cabinets responsible for the variable alcoholic options.
You took a bottle of red wine and awkwardly moved it on your hands, suddenly feeling too self-aware, not used to feeling like this. You placed the drink on top of the glass table and once again shrunk back in place.
“You can drink if you want, I'm going to bed.” You hurried to the one of the two separate rooms on the top floor, leaving abruptly and making Loki's head fill with more doubts and— as much as he hated to admit—some worry. What if there is a serious explanation as to why you can't reveal yourself?
And even if Loki wanted to get much into that line of thought he forced himself out and started inking a scheme to discover everything and, part of the plan involved, not caring about your feelings, if it happened to be personal. Loki had to remind himself that he didn't owe you anything, he didn't know why he was making such a huge deal of finding out about what your face looked like.
It wasn't often that you slept, it wasn't a much needed thing, but you liked to see it as a kind of treat. You just didn't realize how much of your powers you used today, it just happened that you fell asleep.
Not just the infuriating pain of the sensors you felt coming from around the cabin woke you up, but also someone's hand. At first you thought you might've been dreaming, however, the more some milliseconds passed, the hand was simply unmistakable.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” you exclaimed yet a bit groggily attempting to blink the sleep off your eyes, and also snapping his hands off your face.
“I used a spell to ensure you'd be sleeping! I was just moving the mask, I just wanted to see…” He was exasperated and trying to explain himself.
“What?! Why would you think saying this makes things better? It is just creepy! AND, I am incredibly powerful, a simple spell doesn't work on me!” Honestly, with the multiple protection charms you've been casting he couldn't guess your powers would block any attempt he'd have of casting anything on you?
“Oh yes, I'm well aware. I just needed to try- Just so I can sleep at least…”
You sighed and got off the bed, walking downstairs again, having him following you right behind. “Here's the thing…” He started to say.
“No, nope, no,” you massage your temple as you speak and open your eyes to notice something you didn't realize just a few minutes ago, he changed into more comfortable clothes for the night, just like you did. So now you're both ridiculously wearing pajamas.
You didn't mind it that much, you could also see it was somewhere around four in the morning. The sensory noises coming from the protection spell you put around the house now were beginning to grow insufferable.
“See, I'll be honest, I just don't care,” he opened his arms to show more of himself as he spoke, and you could sense he lied, you don't think he'd be indifferent to your opinion of him, but maybe that's just what you think. “I admit I wanted to see what you look like. I don't understand what's so wrong about that.”
You shake your head once more and turn around to the fridge. The ridiculous all-black pajamas you're wearing are now making you feel very vulnerable, for some reason. You  get some milk out of the fridge and stare at the glass for a second.
“You're such a weird creature. I should've just stayed with the group of freaks, at least I wouldn't be dealing with you.” He said and dropped his arms to his sides in defeat.
You took a moment to think for yourself, the mask now was similar to a defensive shield whether you liked it or not, the mystery was something you could bask on even if momentaneous, even if not long-lasting . You knew he'd eventually see your face, you also knew you didn't plan going anywhere far from him by now. You were stronger than him with your capacities but he carried something you've never felt before, and his magic attracted you to him.
Maybe your actions were becoming a tad bit immature, you sighed tiredly. Watching him as he stared at the ceiling whilst laying on his back on the couch.
You poured the milk in the glass. And took the mask off to lift the glass to your thirsty lips, closing your eyes so you won't see if he's watching you. He is.
You gulp and swallow the liquid quite nervously sensing you're being observed, then put the glass down. There was no big scene, no dramatics, just a quiet moment and your true face, with the mask off.
And his eyes on you, speechless.
Again, with the nervous feeling, you began to grow a bit restless with all the staring. You cleaned your lips with the back of your hand hurriedly, and walked to place the glass in the sink, washing it manually. Doing the action by your own hands would make you, for a few seconds, stop thinking about his eyes on you.
“You're…” he gulped, sticking out his Adam's apple. "Beautiful." He finished quite dumbstruck, still processing your appearance.
You wouldn't say you were the stereotypical image of beauty, but you reckon your human features are always going to be attractive just the way they are. They carry your demonic nature, your demon soul is unmatchable in question of beauty.
“I don't know why you didn't want me to see you. There's nothing horrific.” He said attempting to remain casual, still looking at you as if mesmerized. You liked it. He cleared his throat.
You turn around to face him, and let your mouth open a little. You can see the change in his microexpressions as soon as he notices, “oh,” He says. “Are those…fangs?” He seemed a bit surprised.
“Yes. Demon ones.”
“...Pardon ?”
Tumblr media
To say Loki got scared immediately would be a lie, he was deep-settled in his superiority and massive knowledge on all " monsters " the realms could present. You got a little hurt by the use of the term "monster", and he'd never let his guard falter, he didn't want to act differently but you did notice a difference in his behavior towards you.
You don't know why, but you didn't want him to be afraid of you. It is amusing to feel the fear of others but somehow his fear is not as satisfying now, you were having troubles comprehending why.
After some time, you both spent the rest of the night in the living room in silence, the sun was beginning to set, somewhere around five and a half. Your feet dangling in distraction as you sat on top of the kitchen counter.
And Loki was near a table on the other corner from you. Funny.
You were starting to feel your stomach grumble in complaint, you decided to move to the fridge once again to finally eat. Now that you didn't have the mask to hide you everything was easier.
You grabbed a raw piece of deer meat, the first thing you saw, and pressed your fingertips deep in the meat. Loki was looking at you now instead of the sun setting through the window, his eyebrows raised up, although he just assumed you were checking if the meat was good to be consumed, or in other words, cooked.
He wasn't expecting you to sniff it and prepare to take a bite straight away.
“Wait! What are you doing?” He exclaimed loudly, causing you to flinch and stop before completing the action, “You can't possibly tell me you're going to eat this raw?” He sounded outraged.
You were the one confused now, what was the problem with that?
“Do you have a problem with it?”
“Why, yes! You…” He suddenly stopped and you couldn't decipher him for now, he gave you an odd look, and then shook his head, “you can't eat things raw, why don't you simply cook it?”
He felt stupid interrupting all of a sudden, knowing you're a demon makes so much sense for your manners and the way you perceive things. He supposed that of course this was natural for you, to kill things, to eat anything in any way, cooked or raw. You wouldn't get sick or throw up by the action, not that he cared if you did.
That didn't mean that it would make him comfortable, the meat was still looking very white, and if he saw you crunching the very apparent bone of the animal he would most likely be the one throwing up in response.
“I don't cook.” You responded quickly, “I don't see the problem with it, makes it tastier when it has the cold touch of recent death.” Your eyes shined at the statement.
You were a very creepy little thing in his eyes. And to put creepy in the statement, he meant it. He rolled his eyes and looked back at the now almost totally visible sun presenting itself.
He turned to you again, you were close to the window, the sunshine was reflecting on you. He thought to himself that all of Hel's creatures are supposed to be magnificent and endearing, you did look like an angel at the moment. Maybe he shouldn't have asked you to take off the mask.
“I can cook,” he replied shortly, making sure not to look you in the eyes, “if you wish. I can show you how.”
The silence grew louder for a moment, you just stared at him, giving a very alien-like expression. Of course, it was wrong for him. The dead texture of the creature in your hands promptly made you feel self-conscious, your hands felt sticky now, dirty unlike his. You didn't know why that bothered you, not knowing why you wanted him to see you in a good light when you were a being of such darkness.
“...Okay.” You quietly confirmed, he was relieved you accepted. It would make the awkwardness go away, he got the meat from your hands and went to work at the oven, pulling the pans, some ingredients and spices you couldn't identify.
That made you smile a little, he did everything so effortlessly, as if done a million times. You wondered how common it was for him to cook whilst he was raised in a castle, but you felt too embarrassed to ask. Every movement he made was that of royalty, that was how he always presented himself, yet you were in awe to see it was still present in something so simple as this seemed to be.
He might have become aimless at your constant staring, but you didn't mind, you actually enjoyed the tiny discomfort you caused on him.
And he certainly wasn't expecting you to put your head on his shoulders, a bit on your tippy-toes to catch his height. It was clearly an uncomfortable position for you to be in, at least he thought so, and although he didn't complain, his flinching in response was pretty visible.
You were relaxed, you didn't mind your muscles stretching to try and match his stature. You allowed yourself the pleasure of watching someone cook for you.
He hoped you wouldn't notice the awkwardness you left him feeling, but seeing as you didn't move to get away, he himself passed his hands on his shoulders delicately to brush you off him.
Loki's relief at not having to experience watching you eat something raw in front of him didn't last very long, since you grabbed the still hot and recently prepared meat with your bare hands. Complaining with some whiny little 'ouch ouch ouch' and quickly changing the cooked piece to your other hand, scowling at the food in response, as if it horrendously offended you.
The cutlery was just right in front of you, Loki thought it was so amusing he didn't care to stop.
Your moment was interrupted by a bright light suddenly breaking through the windows, you hissed as it hit your vision. Loki quickly stepped up and stayed in position for attack, with his hands up in defense.
Your eyes widened when you saw that and you felt the need to help him. However before being able to, your vision faltered and you felt your body weakening until you finally hit the ground.
H-Hi um… I just th-thought of another request… um… could you do one w-where reader and Loki have b-been together for a w-while and she still is kind of… clingy with him. L-Loki adores it obviously but when someone makes a c-comment about readers clinginess (b-be it a person who is mad that Loki ch-chose reader of them or something) L-Loki immediately shuts them down. He’s more p-pissed than reader is and she just smiles a-and…… th-thanks him and makes him f-feel better in the b-best possible way… I h-hope you had a g-good day ☺️
"Perhaps it is just because you are simply the most beautiful creature I've ever come across?" His words sent her cheeks into a frenzy of blush as she giggled and snuggled further into his side.
Asking Loki why he loved her was Y/N's favorite activity. His answers always resembled this one, and always made her feel giddy and amazing. Never a confident person, Y/N required constant validation and Loki was never shy to comply with her needs.
They were snuggled up in the common room on a Friday night, watching movies and giggling like teenagers. They both brought out a side to the other that no one had ever seen before. Loki loosened up and laughed, allowing himself to relax. Y/N was finally confident enough to be herself around someone, letting herself giggle and talk without fear of being shut down or silenced.
Their Friday movie nights were regular, any Friday when they weren't on missions, you could find them snuggling on the couch, completely ignoring the movie and showering each other in affection. The nights usually ended in a fit of giggles when Loki hoisted her into his arms and carried her off to their shared bedroom for even more fun.
They hadn't reached that point in their night yet, but their movie was long forgotten as she snuggled in his lap and played with his long hair.
"You're the best thing that ever happened to me." She whispered, watching as his cheeks turned a charming shade of pink and he dodged her eyes. For someone so good at giving compliments, he never knew how to accept them properly.
"As are you, darling." He murmured, kissing the crown of her head. "Marry me,"
Now she was rolling her eyes. He asked her to marry him at least ten times a day, and every time she reminded him that they'd only been together for a year, and she was not ready to get married yet.
She knew he wasn't completely serious, and he knew that he had to keep saying it now because of how brightly she smiled every time he said it. Loki had a deep belief that Y/N didn't smile enough, and found it was his personal mission in life to fix that.
Reminded of that at the moment, he ducked down quickly and latched his lips onto her neck, sending her into yet another fit of giggles and squeals. Playfully trying to push him off of her, Y/N repeated, "Mercy, mercy! I surrender!"
Laughing, he kissed her lips and pulled her closer. "Did you know that I lo–"
"Oh look," They both pulled back at the sharp voice which entered the room. The blonde standing in the doorway with Steve appearing behind her was the only thing that could make Y/N shrink back into the person she used to be before Loki. The bullied down and quiet girl that Loki saved from utter silence.
"It's the prince and the damsel," She mocked. "Are you always this clingy Y/N? What am I kidding, of course, you are, you never leave his side."
"Fuck off, Sharon," Loki growled, surprising everyone now in the room.
Sharon looked hurt before scoffing and turning on her heels to leave the room. Apparently, long before Y/N had joined the team and met Loki, he had turned down Sharon's advances and ultimately told her that he'd rather die than court someone of the likes of her.
Once everyone was cleared from the room, Loki looked down at Y/N to make sure Sharon's words hadn't affected her too much or hurt her in a way that Loki's heart couldn't bear to see. Instead of being met with some shy eyes or even tears, he saw her smiling and staring at him in awe.
"What?" He asked, his voice gentle to avoid eruption.
"Thank you," She whispered, her voice soft as the wind.
"Of course, darling." He seemed confused as to why she was so appreciative. It wasn't like he didn't defend her against their awful colleagues daily. This time though, it seemed to soften her some.
"I love you," She blurted out, pushing her lips into his and wrapping her arms around his neck. He didn't get a chance to repeat her words until hours later that night when she finally quit kissing him, but as soon as he did repeat them, she blushed like fire and pulled the blankets of their bed up to her face, trying to hide.
You'd think she'd realize how silly it was to try and hide after hours of sex with this man, but try she did nonetheless.
"I will never not love you, Y/N." He whispered, kissing her hair and lying beside her, still trying to catch his breath. "And I will never choose someone over you, let alone that evil bitch Sharon."
And that again sent her into a fit of giggles.
Genderfluidity & Loki's Bountiful Wardrobe
Pairing: Loki x GN!Reader
Summary: In which the reader is dysphoric and Loki is incredibly helpful and comforting. Specifically, a genderfluid reader trying to adjust to accepting the fluid nature… of their gender… You know what, summaries are hard lol. Written as platonic <3.
Warnings: anxiety (possibly bordering on panic sometimes), descriptions of dizzy/fuzziness, dysphoria & some internalized transphobia (though the reader is unspecified in both birth and current gender identity so it's not too detailed)
(gif is mine :))
You’d felt different ever since you’d woken up, maybe since last night if you were being honest. Something was off. Wrong.
No, you reminded yourself silently, guilt creeping into your brain. Not wrong. Just different. No matter how much you told yourself that, no matter how many times you tried to convince yourself that everything you felt was fine and valid - it just didn’t seem to stick.
You’d pushed through the morning, avoiding mirrors as much as possible. You’d done your best to subtly align your appearance with how you felt today, but the anxiety of ‘what if the others notice? what if they ask questions?’ was too strong to do anything too obvious. You should tell them, you knew that. You thought they would understand, be kind at least. It might take some explaining, but eventually -
The anxiety from the thought alone was too much. Not today; not yet. There really was only one person you knew would understand, but the confidence required to come clean seemed too daunting on its own.
The afternoon got harder. Maybe it was one too many gendered compliments, or the ridiculous decision to color coordinate the cupcakes at lunch, blue and pink, and being offered the wrong one, but it was too much. You hid in a maintenance closet (this really needed to stop before it became a habit… who are you kidding, it already was) and took some breaths, hoping the worst of it would pass.
Well, today might as well be as good as any other, you were going to have to face it sometime. And they would understand, that was a given.
‧⋆ ✧˚₊‧⋆. ✧˚₊‧⋆‧
It still took you a solid 45 minutes to hype yourself up enough. But now that you were standing in front of Loki’s door, it didn’t feel like you’d waited long enough. You stared at the greyish material as the minutes ticked by. What was this door made of anyway? Was that metal? Or just opaque plexiglass? Possibly an alloy…
You jumped a good three feet in the air at the sound of Jarvis speaking your name, the small light from the overhead camera blinking lazily.
“Mr. Laufeyson has inquired whether you would like to come inside or continue evaluating the structural integrity of his door.”
You winced at the mildly disapproving tone that tainted the AI’s speech. Jarvis was fed up with you. Great. You noted the use of Loki’s pronouns and breathed a sigh of relief that you would not have to ask. You always did, of course, but conversation was difficult and you liked to have as little of it as possible. Possibly using Jarvis to inform everyone subtly of your identity… Not yet. You stood up a bit straighter and took a breath.
A quiet ‘open’ called from inside, the door swung open, and you started.
“Oh don’t act surprised,” came the smooth yet lazy voice from inside the room, “You’d already decided to come in.” You rolled your shoulders a bit as you barely entered the room.
"Hey, Lokes," you started, anxiously smiling at him draped over an armchair.
"Peasant," he said simply, though there was no venom behind it and it sounded more like an endearment than an insult.
"Oh don't start," you laughed but sent him a glare, slowly inching more into the room. He looked up from the gigantic book on his lap and grinned.
"Apologies, darling," he laughed. "What can I do for you?"
Ha. Right. That. The door clicked shut behind you and you spun around just in time to see Jarvis’ warbling blue sphere disappear from the wall screen, leaving the both of you alone.
You turned back to the person who was watching you with a slight hint of amusement, and you smiled again, though it didn't quite reach your eyes. His face softened, seemingly understanding you instantly.
"You're troubled," he stated, not asking. He closed the large book with a soft thunk and stood, though not moving to you. You chuckled tensely.
"When am I not troubled?," you shrugged.
He shook his head slightly, a small grin pulling at his lips. “I am quite good at reading you, love, but I may need you to specify the current problem.”
You weren’t sure if that made you feel more or less uneasy and you shifted your feet a bit, your eyes drifting to the heavy book now laying on the impossibly-spotless glass coffee table. Brown leather, though perhaps it had been redder at some point. Repaired cracks along the spine, the stitching visible through the outer cover. Scratched gold gilding the cover-
“Darling.” You flinched hard at his hands on your shoulders, him suddenly in front of you. He went to pull back, but after looking at your face for a moment, thought better of it and left his hands gently resting on your shoulders, a breathing room of nearly arm's length between you.
His voice was impossibly soft when he spoke again.
"What do you need, love?"
You let out a quick, breathy laugh. "Nothing, really. Just wanted to see you." Right. Lying. Always helpful. You shook your head, taking a breath and trying again. "I just, I don't know. I was wondering - I was wondering if you; or if I could, well if you had-"
His hands moved to the middle of your shoulders, closer to your neck, the pressure of them increasing as he let the weight of his arms press down on you, grounding you. The shockingly instant relief swept over you, and he moved his palms to gently rub up and down your arms.
"Breathe. Take your time."
Of course, whenever he told you to breathe, you stopped. What else was the logical reaction? You closed your eyes, too hazy to be embarrassed. The room was quiet, the muffled outside noise creeping in. Shuffling footsteps, a phone ringing somewhere down the hall. A coffee machine bubbling…
Your breathing had slowed again, so thankfully now you had the clarity to be embarrassed as the heat crept up your neck. Wonderful. You opened your eyes and looked up at him sheepishly, a small smile barely tugging at your lips as you questioned what you were supposed to do now.
He laughed softly at your uncertainty before his face returned to a neutral concern.
“Now try again,” he prompted gently, removing his hands from your shoulders and stepping back once, as if physically giving you room to think. You took a breath.
"I just, I don't feel like I normally do. I'm still me, but different? Or maybe I've always felt like this, and I was just pretending? Or, I'm pretending now? It’s not like this is the first time this has happened. Maybe I just want attention. But I don't want anyone to know. Or maybe I'm just-"
"Darling?," he interrupted gently, though there was the slightest hint of amusement in his tone.
"Hm?"
"Spiraling."
"Right. Sorry."
He shook his head, a soft smile on his face. "You need not apologize," he put his hands back on your shoulders and pulled you close to his chest, resting his cheek on the top of your head and wrapping his arms snugly around you. He had apparently deemed his earlier strategy of distance a failure. "Just take a breath. And try again."
You took a dramatically deep breath but said nothing, instead opting to hide your face against him.
He seemed to take pity on you as he let his head lean slightly to one side, considering you.
"Are we trying different pronouns?," he prompted and you pulled back slightly to look up at him, surprised.
"Well you don't beat around the bush, do you?," you laughed, trying to cover up the wave of anxiety, or maybe it was relief, that shuddered through you.
"Why should I?,” he inquired, as if the very idea of being embarrassed about these things was foreign to him. Though given what you’d overheard of his conversations with some of the others, you guessed that was for your benefit.
“So, are you?," he asked slowly, leaning back again and drawing your focus back to him.
"Yeah, I guess," you mumbled, hesitant.
His hands clapped together suddenly, making you jump a bit. "Wonderful! What are you going with?"
He was smiling like a giddy child, seeming genuinely excited and you didn't know whether to laugh or cry. You told him what you were leaning towards and he grinned as you continued quickly, as though if you stopped for breath you would lose your nerve.
"I also kind of wanted to see if I could borrow some different clothes. And maybe just hang out with you for a bit? I don't know if I'm ready for anyone else yet."
His smile had softened and he was staring at you now, making you squirm.
"Why are you looking at me like that?," you chuckled awkwardly.
His grin widened a fraction before he shook it off. "No reason. Come on," he said, grabbing your hands and pulling you along. "I have quite the variety of outfits," he said with a tweak of his eyebrow and you grinned. That he most certainly did.
‧⋆ ✧˚₊‧⋆. ✧˚₊‧⋆‧
He helped you pick something that made you unbelievably comfortable, accentuating and hiding in turn what you felt needed to be. He was offering passive but very helpful suggestions along the way. At one point, he stood behind you at the mirror, his long arms wrapped around your middle, and you caught him looking at you like that again; like he thought you were the most perfect thing he’d seen, as if he were immensely proud of you, and you dropped your head to hide the hot tears you felt threatening your eyes. You felt him chuckle behind you, his arms tightening protectively as he pressed a kiss to your head.
You spent the rest of the afternoon with him. He somehow managed to give you very obviously gendered pet names and compliments that aligned with your current chosen pronouns, while also not making a big deal of it. He kept you on a steady supply of snacks and hot drinks as you watched movies.
A/N: hehehehehehe nooo I’m not projecting🙃🤍. I know dysphoria and gender fluidity are different for everyone so this can’t fully represent everyone’s experience.
If I could improve it in some way or if something was unintentionally offensive, please let me know! I hope it was at least a little comforting even if it’s a bit messy :) 💜
Out Of The Darkness, Chapter 1
Summary: Grace had been captive of Kilgrave for seven years. She’s finally out, thanks to Jessica Jones. Who sends her to stay with The Avengers at their base, so they can protect her from Kilgrave. Loki takes a liking to her instantly, finding some common ground. He goes out of his way to make her feel safe and like life is worth living again. But can they keep Kilgrave away?
Loki was heading out on a mission with Thor and Bruce, as they were heading down the corridor Natasha and Wanda were heading towards them, with a new face. A young woman, but she was wearing a large hoodie with the hood up.
Though when they passed by, she looked up and Loki caught a glimpse of her face. Her eyes were full of terror, of so much pain and sadness.
‘Who’s that?’ Loki asked Thor and Bruce as the women kept walking.
‘Not sure. But I know Jessica Jones was here earlier with someone.’ Bruce shrugged.
‘Let’s focus on the mission, we can find out when we return.’ Thor said.
‘Mmm.’ Loki hummed and nodded.
But he struggled to focus on the mission entirely, though luckily it was relatively easy. He kept thinking about that woman he’d seen. What had she been through? Who was she? Where did she come from?
When they got back home to base, Natasha had called for a team meeting straight away. Loki lurked in the back, as he usually did. Normally just rolling his eyes during the team meetings. But this one, this one was different.
‘Some of you might have noticed we have a new guest.’ Natasha started. ‘Her name is Grace, and she’s here for protection.’
‘Protection from what?’ Loki asked.
Natasha looked at him and narrowed her eyes. ‘Let me finish and I’ll tell you.’
Loki folded his arms over his chest and tried to keep his mouth shut and not retaliate.
‘She’s here for protection, from a dangerous man. Called Kilgrave. He has mind control powers, whatever he says, people do. If he tells someone to put a bullet in their skull, they do it. No hesitation. If he tells someone to dig a hole with their bare hands through concrete, they try and do it until their hands are bleeding raw. If he tells someone to shut up, they shut up and don’t say a word. They physically can’t. It’s terrifying what this man can do and has done.’
‘You’re joking, right?’ Tony said in disbelief. ‘No way some average guy can have powers like that.’
‘I’ve seen the proof.’ Natasha snapped at him. ‘I believe Jones, she wouldn’t have a reason to lie to us. She’s been under his control before, too. But she got lucky. She wants us to keep Grace here, until she has taken Kilgrave down… Grace has been through hell and back, multiple times. I’m not going to tell you what he’s made her do, it’s not my place to tell.’
Stark ran a hand down his face. ‘So, we are keeping some girl here because apparently, she’s been under control by a guy that has made her do, what, exactly?’
‘As I said, that’s not my story to tell.’
‘You’ve taken her in here and we have no idea what she’s capable of, or done, that could be questionable?’ Tony continued to argue.
Natasha was about to answer back but Loki butted in again. ‘Haven’t we all done questionable things in the past, Stark?’ He hissed at him.
‘Yeah, you especially.’ Tony grumbled.
‘I have and we all know that. But we all know that each and every one of us, has a past. I believe her, I saw it in her eyes.’ Loki continued.
‘Saw what?’ Steve asked him.
‘The pain and horrors of not being in control of your own mind.’ Loki sighed.
The team looked around one another. They’d all experienced having their mind played with, but none of them had ever done anything quite as bad as Loki… And now, Grace.
‘I doubt she will make an appearance for a while, she doesn’t trust, for obvious reasons. She’s been stuck with Kilgrave only pretty much, for a long time.’
‘How long was she with him for?’ Thor asked.
‘Seven years.’
Loki’s eyes widened. ‘What? She looks young, she must have just been a kid when he took her?’
‘She’s twenty-six. She was still a kid when he took her, more or less.’ Natasha nodded.
‘Jesus. At that age, she’s missed out on so much.’ Bruce said.
‘Exactly. So we need to try and make her feel welcome here, and while we need to protect her we need to try and help her get her life back.’
Everyone looked between each other, nodding in agreement. Even Tony reluctantly agreed.
‘He will be looking for her.’ Steve said.
Natasha nodded. ‘I’d say so. Jessica said that he would be pissed at finding her gone, especially after such a long time. But she is going to try and get his spotlight back onto her, to get it off Grace. But we need to be prepared in-case he does come this way.’
‘That asshole won’t get anywhere near her again.’ Clint said firmly.
That was something everyone agreed on.
-
Grace had been pacing back and fore for the past hour, it was the day after she’d arrived at the Avengers base. Part of her was scared to leave her room, but another part of her was even more scared at remaining in there on her own.
It left her alone with her thoughts, thoughts she didn’t want to have. Memories she didn’t want to think about. She was worried about what she might do if she stayed on her own.
Natasha had said to her when she was ready to just take a look around, that she would introduce her to the team.
Even though she was shaking, a complete bag of nerves, she made her way out of her room and headed down the corridor. She didn’t really know where she was going, but she vaguely remembered Natasha telling her a rough direction of where to go. But her mind was so clouded she ended up going the wrong way.
But she came to a huge window that looked out to the back of the base. There was a massive walled garden, hedging inside that sectioned off different sections of it, including a decent size green house and poly tunnel. The whole place was overgrown and obviously hadn’t been looked after in a few years.
It was completely different to the front of the place, where the lawn was immaculate and the drive all neat.
‘It’s a disaster zone out there, isn’t it?’ Came a smooth voice from behind Grace, making her jump.
She spun around, eyes wide like saucers. She had to crane her neck to look up at who was speaking to her, he was really tall. She realised quickly it must be Loki, one of the Gods. She knew of Thor from the myths, but he had blonde hair whereas this one had black hair. So she deduced it was his brother.
‘Apologies, I didn’t mean to sneak up on you.’ Loki said quickly. ‘I’m Loki.’ He held his hand out towards her.
Grace eyed up his hand suspiciously, but didn’t take it. ‘I… I’m Grace.’ She whispered.
Loki retracted his hand and nodded. ‘Nice to meet you, Grace.’ He stepped towards the window next to her, but didn’t get too close to her, respecting her space. ‘Stark fired the gardeners that tended to all that a few years ago, he never got round to hiring more. A shame really, we used to get some nice fresh vegetables from there.’
Grace was wary, though she wasn’t sure why. She knew that she was safe surrounded by superheroes. Jessica told her about all their powers, what they could do. Wanda had mind manipulating powers, so did Loki. But not in the same way as Kilgrave.
But it was going to take her time to trust again. If she could even trust herself. She felt so, weird and empty.
‘I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting to see you out and about so soon.’ Loki said after a moments silence between them.
‘I don’t know if I’m more scared being on my own or with strangers.’ She admitted.
Loki nodded. ‘It will take time, if you weren’t in control for so many years, it will be strange at first. But you’ll get there.’
Grace turned towards him, getting a moment of bravery to look up at him directly. ‘How do you know?’ She asked, her voice shaky.
Loki gave her a soft smile. ‘Because I’ve been there… well, similar. And if I can pull through it and get out of the darkness, so can you. You’re a strong one, I can tell.’
She actually felt like crying from how kind he seemed to be.
‘I… I’m not so sure about that.’
‘You’ll be doubting everything. Was what you did your own doing, or was it really from someone else? Your own inner demons are the hardest fight, but keep holding on. Take it one step at a time, you will get there. You will beat this guy.’
Grace looked back out the window, she really didn’t know what to say. How did this God have so much confidence in her when she didn’t have any in herself, and he didn’t even know her. She wasn’t sure whether she should be suspicious of him or not. But then, that’s what Kilgrave would want her to think of other men. To think that no one else out there would be nice and help her.
He really had isolated her from everyone.
‘Do you want to come and meet the bumbling idiots that people call The Avengers?’ Loki offered.
Grace nodded. ‘Yeah… ok.’
The Avengers were shocked when they saw Loki walk into the common room with Grace. Out of everyone, they didn’t expect Loki to actually be nice and polite towards her.
Natasha introduced her to them all. She awkwardly said hi to them.
‘Thank you… for letting me stay here.’ She said quietly.
‘It’s no problem. We will make sure you’re safe here.’ Clint smiled at her.
‘I’ll give you the code and access app to download onto your phone, so you can access the main doors whenever you need.’ Tony said, pulling out his phone.
‘Oh… I uhm… I don’t… I don’t have a phone.’ Grace said, rubbing the back of her head. ‘I don’t have much of anything, actually.’ She looked down. ‘He took my belongings off me… a long time ago.’
The team fell silent.
‘No need to worry. I’ll get you a laminate to keep on yourself.’ Tony said.
‘Thanks.’ Grace said.
‘Bruce is cooking up his famous fajitas for lunch. Join us!’ Thor beamed happily, then realised what he said. ‘I mean, only if you want to. You don’t have to…’
Loki rolled his eyes and face palmed.
‘You don’t need to watch what you say… I know… I know that you don’t mean it in the way he would… Though it will take some time for me to get used to, too.’ Grace gave Thor a small smile, knowing he didn’t mean any harm at all.
‘I uhm, I think I’ll just take something back to my room to eat, if that’s ok?’ She looked around everyone.
‘Of course it is. You don’t need to ask, you do what you want to do.’ Steve said.
Grace nodded. She waited there with the others for ten minutes while Bruce finished making fajitas, then he dished some up for her.
‘Thank you…’ Grace turned to leave the room, but she stopped. ‘Uhm… I can’t… I can’t remember which way to go.’ She said sheepishly.
‘I’ll walk you back.’ Loki offered before anyone else could, heading over towards her.
As they made their way down the corridor, Loki noticed her hands were shaking as she carried her plate. The more she tried to focus on her hands to stop, the worse they became.
‘What’s your favourite kind of food?’ Loki asked, looking ahead instead of at her, not wanting to make her feel more awkward.
‘I’m not too fussy.’ Grace shrugged. ‘I… I had to eat whatever was put on front of me, really… But pasta dishes are my favourite.’
Loki felt sad for her. He couldn’t imagine being told to eat whatever was put down on front of you, with no say in that matter, for seven years.
‘Thanks for taking me back to my room… Hopefully tomorrow I won’t get so lost.’ Grace said awkwardly when they reached her room.
‘My pleasure.’ Loki smiled and bowed his head slightly. ‘If you need anything at all, someone is usually around, so just call out.’
‘Thanks.’ Grace nodded and headed into her room, taking a big deep breath once she got in there.
-
‘You need to watch what you say.’ Clint said to Thor as they all sat down for dinner.
‘I didn’t mean’ Thor started but was cut off by Loki.
‘Tip toeing around our words will only make her feel more awkward. She wants to get back to normal, which includes people flippantly saying things that they don’t mean as an order, as it would if Kilgrave had said it.’
‘I hate to say it, but Loki’s right.’ Wanda said.
Loki smirked as the team all grumbled, reluctantly agreeing.
‘How are we going to be prepared if Kilgrave comes looking for her?’ Steve asked.
‘I’ll speak to Jessica again, see if she has eyes on him. We need to understand how his powers work, so we can contain him if necessary.’ Natasha said.
‘Or we just kill him before he gets a chance to open his mouth.’ Loki snarled.
‘I’m with Loki, it sounds like this man doesn’t deserve to live.’ Thor said with a mouthful of food.
‘That’s not for us to decide.’ Steve said. ‘We can’t become as bad as him, if he comes here, we trap and imprison him. Then we hand him over to Jones to do with as she sees fit.’
Everyone went quiet and just continued to eat. They clearly weren’t going to agree on a way of dealing with Kilgrave if he did come looking.
Loki’s plans to conquer and rule Midgard have come to a disastrous end. After being captured by the Avengers, he is being held on Earth. Odin has refused to interfere, and the outlook for the God of Mischief appear bleak. His only hope may lie in one mortal woman, a Psychiatric expert brought in to interrogate him.
Dr. Caroline Thorpe is intrigued by Loki and thinks that more lies beneath his actions than is commonly known. Can she find out the truth before he is shipped off to die for crimes against the Earth? And can Loki bring himself to care?
"Oh yessss," Caroline felt more than heard the voice in her mind. "We are going to have so much fun together."
A deep yearning filled the words, flooding her warmth that heated up her blood. There was a caress to it, but also a dare, a calling on her to allow herself to come out to play. In a way, the voice reminded her of Loki.
Loki! Blinking to clear her mind, Caroline focused on the God who had become the center of her world over the past few days. What had he told her? It was so hard to think with the tendrils of temptation working their way through all of the dark recesses of her brain. The Mind Stone! That was what this voice was. The jewel in the head of the scepter she grasped was alive and would try to take over her will. She had to resist.
"Do you?" a whisper, gentler this time, coaxed. "Isn't that what you've been doing your entire life? Resisting your own impulses? Putting other people's desires and concerns ahead of your own? Day after day, you tell others to listen to the voice inside. Why don't you ever do the same?"
It was such an innocent question, when put like that. Caroline did often recommend that her patients to listen to what their own inner voice was telling them. Should she not trust her own advice?
"Exactly," the whisper gained in strength again. "You could do so much if you only let yourself. Don't you wish for more? For power?"
"Power?" Caroline spoke the word aloud. It was not something she thought about much, to be honest.
"Power," echoed the voice, giving the word a seductive push. "Power to command, to control, to fashion all to your liking. You could remake this world to your own specifications. I can help you do so. Just let me."
"I don't want to control," Caroline shook of the spell the words were weaving on her.
Nothing worth having meant anything if it was only given to you because it was compelled.
"Even your God Prince?" she felt the tendril slide down her spine. "How long do you think you can keep him as you are? I feel the doubt in you, the fear of losing him. Embrace me, embrace my love for you, and I will make it so that he is yours forever. He will kneel at your feet and obey your every desire."
"Then he wouldn't be Loki," she was feeling stronger now, more certain in her refusal. She would not want him tamed and subservient. She loved that he was himself, as he was.
"As he was?" a sly note crept in, lacing itself among the sweet. "You mean hurt, betrayed, denied the basic love that every being deserves? You want him to feel so lost and abandoned?"
Of course she did not. She hadn't thought of it that way. He deserved to be loved, to know what that felt like.
"He does, doesn't he," the voice was filled with regret. "And yet, only think of it. There he was a child. All alone in the cold. Desperate for help. Did he get the aid and respite? No! He was abducted! Stolen from his home, his people, and made into a tool by his enemies."
It was not right. Caroline's anger rose within her, imagining the small infant, blue and helpless, terrified for its very existence.
"I know your Prince," she heard. "I was close to him, very close. I shared all of his thoughts, his experiences. You would weep for days if you know the way he suffered. The people who should have loved him best caused him nothing but pain, over and over again. It was so very, very wrong."
"It was unforgivable," Caroline agreed, a clenching around her heart tightening.
"All he wanted was a home, a family. Instead, he was ridiculed. For centuries they convinced him that everything he did was shameful, wrong, and unacceptable. They made him loath himself. Drove him to try and end his own life."
"Loki deserved better," she seethed.
"Oh, he did! It is amazing that he is still able to love at all. You are a truly remarkable woman to have awakened his trust after all he suffered."
"I am luckier than I deserve," Caroline was in awe all over again that a God, one who had endured so much, would ever want her. "I love him."
"I know, my sweet, I know," was cooed in her ear. "I can feel it, pulsing through you. Your love, your devotion. You sing with it."
"Yes."
"But I wonder? Does he know?"
"I have told him," Caroline began to fret, wondering if she had said it enough.
"Words are shallow, just air at the best of time," the words did not feel shallow, they resonated deep within her. "How many people have lied to him? How many times did his so called family claim to love him, only to turn their backs in his time of need or cut him to ribbons with callous remarks."
"All the time," a cold fury gripped her.
"You saw it today," she was reminded. "Just hours ago. His brother, Thor. You remember."
"He mocked Loki about his magic," Caroline's fists clenched in anger around the metal of the weapon. "Loki has used it to save him and all of Asgard countless times, but Thor made it sound as though Loki's talent was something to be laughed at, ridiculed and scorned."
"It was hardly the first time. I could tell you tales that would make your eyes glow as red as your God's in his true form. Thor has always been cruel to Loki. From the time they were children, he ran him down. Drew all of Odin's praise, stole their mother's love. He is the reason that Loki suffers."
"He does not deserve to be Loki's brother," Caroline said in a voice seeped in fury.
"He deserves to pay, to know the pain he has caused."
It was so clear when put that way. How had she never thought of it before? Thor had to be taught a lesson.
"But Loki will never stand up to him. Not in any way that would make a dent in Thor's think head," it was truth and Caroline knew it as soon as the voice whispered. "He will continue to allow himself to be hurt. Wouldn't it be better, love, if Thor was made to hurt instead?"
"Yes," the word sounded so right, so simple in Caroline's mind. The relief when she thought it, spoke it out loud sent a lightness all along her veins.
"I can make that happen, my dear," the voice promised, dipping again to swirl in her gut. "We can make that happen. We can ensure that Thor is punished for his years of abuse. That he never hurts our love again."
"How?" Caroline breathed, feeling the flash in her eyes.
"Just bring us to where he is, and I will show you."
"Loki is outside," for once, Caroline did not want to see her love. She knew he would try to stop her, and she had to do this. For him.
"There is another way out," she was assured smugly. "I know all the secrets. I see the men come and go. There is a switch under the table where kept me prisoner. Press that, and we will be free."
Caroline felt around on the underside of the lab table until she found it. A small toggle embedded in the frame. She pushed it to a new position and watched as the wall silently slid away. She had not had any idea the door was there.
"You were not meant to. They are full of secrets, these men who kill and war for sport. We will end them, make things open and honest so that no one need be hurt again. Not your God, not your patients, and not you, my dearest one."
"Yes."
"Starting with Thor. Shall we go find him?"
"Yes."
It was easier every time she said it. It was right. She would avenge the wrongs done to Loki, and he would be grateful. When he saw how much she loved him, what she would do for him, he would love her forever. She would be worthy of her sweet prince.
"I am ready," she smiled. "Let us render justice."
***
This had to be the worst plan Loki had ever been a part of, and he had grown up with Thor.
What had he been thinking, allowing Caroline to go in there alone? He, more than anyone else in the universe, knew what the Mind Stone was capable of. It did not merely overtake your thoughts. No, the primal jewel was much more insidious than that. It rifled through your most private, unspoken desires and searched out every weakness you thought possessed. Once it had found the slightest opening, it would slip inside and twist it, no matter how pure or noble, into something dark and destructive.
It was this malevolent force that they had sent the woman he loved to battle. Loki knew that Caroline was strong of mind and will. She had stood fast in the face of his own attempts to intimidate and distract her time and again, remaining tenaciously on subjects despite his most outrageous blandishments. Yet she was still only a mortal, and in the end it would be no contest at all. Not against a force that went back to the very beginning of everything in the universe.
"She's not back yet?" Stark stated the obvious as he skidded to a halt beside Loki, a long case clutched in both hands.
"Yes, she's right here. Don't you see her?" Loki sniped back, glaring at the mortal.
"Not impossible, what with your voodoo mojo. Still, I'll take that for a no."
"This was a horrible plan! She never should have gone in there!"
"Then what? We should have let you go in and get all Jedi mind tricked again? Yeah, she'd have been so much safer with a death wielding God rampaging the halls. Or maybe you'd prefer to have Thor or me with the hokey stick? I'm sure we'd both be able to control our baser instincts when tempted with ultimate power. No? Then quit complaining and show some faith in the Doc."
Loki growled and turned back towards the door. He did have faith in Caroline, more than he had ever had in anyone. He just knew what she faced. Even now, with the concrete door between them, he could feel the lure of the scepter. It called to him with a song that pulsed through his blood. She must have released it from its cradle; that would explain why its power had grown.
It was not trained on him, not now. He must assume that even as his body became coated with a sheen of sweat that repulsed him and his breathing became heavy and more labored it was whispering to someone else. To Caroline.
"You okay there, Mephistopheles?" Stark asked. "You look a little piqued."
"I can feel it," he confessed, leaning lightly against the wall. "Caroline has the scepter."
"Okay, step two down. Or is it three? Wait, was one break in, or do we have to go back to changing your appearances? I admit, I usually leave the planning bit to Cap. I'm more the swoop in at the last moment and save the day guy myself."
"Would you keep silent!" Loki hissed, wanting to shake the mortal until his teeth rattled.
"You're one to talk," Stark replied, "you're worrying so loudly I'm surprised the whole base doesn't hear."
"What precisely would you have me do? The woman I love is attempting to steal a power that can literally create and destroy planets. And you expect me to stand idly by?"
"Hold on there, big fella! The woman you love?" Tony's voice skittered up on the word.
"What of it?" Loki stepped menacingly towards the small man, glaring down from his far superior height.
"I just didn't know that it was that serious with you two. Hell, I didn't know Alien deities could even feel love. But good for you two crazy kids, I guess. Assuming she feels the same way, that is. Otherwise, that's the type of thing that can get messy. Not that I'd know. I mean, who wouldn't love me?"
"Shall we take a survey?" Loki suggested with false sincerity.
"Maybe not, my ego is awfully delicate after all."
Loki snorted at the blatantly false statement. If anything, Stark's ego rivaled even Thor's for excess. However, he had witnessed plenty of human females clearly besotted with the man in his brief time on the planet. He supposed considering the weak competition Stark might be an adequate mate for some easily satisfied earthling.
"So, what are your plans then? June wedding? Nursery full of little green babies? Say, did you really give birth to an eight-legged horse, or is that just an urban legend? I mean, I've had some dubious hook ups in my time, but even I draw the line at livestock."
"What in all the Realms are you talking about?" Loki wondered if he were going mad from even this close proximity to the Mind Stone, or if it were Stark who had lost his senses.
"The Norse myths. I looked it up one night while not sleeping. You changed yourself into a mare to lure away some stallion from building a wall, and ended up single mom to a colt named Slipknot or something."
"Sleipnir?" Loki asked, trying to piece together the man's incoherent babbling. "The myths claim I am the mother of Odin's horse?!? The next time I see Thor, I am going to change him into frog and step on him," Loki muttered.
"So I take it that's a no," Stark chuckled.
"No, I am not Sleipnir's mother. I simply altered the horse that Odin was riding to enable him to run faster. Some lackwit peasant saw the beast and asked Thor how it was possible. My oh so clever brother informed the dolt that I had given birth to a new breed of horse. Apparently, the fool decided take him literally."
"Got to admit, I don't know if I'm more relieved or disappointed," Stark laughed. "Also, I owe Banner a hundred bucks."
"You wagered on my offspring?"
"Hey, I believed in you big guy. If anyone was twisted enough to bang a horse, my money was on you."
Loki shook his head. It was nonsense, completely and utterly. He was about to tell Stark exactly what he thought of being the subject of amusement between him and his smash happy friend when a realization hit him. His breathing had returned to normal, and the clammy sheen was no longer dampening his face. Impertinent as the conversation had been, it had served to calm him down in the face of Caroline's danger. A quick glance at the other's face and Loki suddenly wondered whether all along that had been Stark's intention.
"How long has it been?" the human asked now, glancing at his watch.
"Too long," Loki stated, knowing the more Caroline was exposed to the Stone, the harder it would be to resist.
"Okay, we go in," Stark's voice had a tightness to it that Loki recognized as a touch of fear. "I'll hold the case open and approach her."
"I should -"
"You stay by the door and talk to her. You're supposed to be good with your tongue, or is that as phony as the horse story?"
"I assure you, that part is truth."
"Good. So, you use your powers of persuasion on the Doc to get her to drop the spear into the case. The moment she does, I snap the lid and we're all safe. Got it?"
"I still think I should approach her," Loki hated the thought of not being able to go to her when she was in peril.
"You will just be putting her in more danger if you do. Hell, I shouldn't even be getting that close, but someone has to carry the case. Now, on the count of three..."
Stark raised his hand and pointed his blaster at the door.
"Get ready to move fast, this is going to bring half the base down on us. One, two, three!"
A loud crash was heard as the beam of light shot from Stark's hand and cut through the metal of the door. All down the hallway the lights dimmed, and an alarm started blaring out at deafening levels. Loki raised his boot and kicked in the door, using all of his will power to let his companion enter first.
"What the..."
As the dust cleared, Loki blinked around the room. It was empty. Across the room where the wall should have been, an opening led into a tunnel or hallway, the end of which was lost in darkness. There was no scepter, no Mind Stone, and no Caroline.
Loki sniffed the air, looking at you like you were a disease-infested rat, “Are you ill?”
“I’m fine,” You crossed your arms over your chest, “And stop smelling me, it’s weird.”
He paid no mind to your comment and waved his hand distractedly, the sound of bath water sloshing in the basin reaching your ears.
“Enjoy it while the air is still warm enough for you to stand it.” He said, no sympathy for your weak mortal body.
You sighed, you didn’t want to deal with him right now. You may not still feel like throwing up, but you did feel like you’d just run a marathon and you didn’t have the energy for his constant rejection.
You grabbed a pair of clean clothes from the drawer beneath the bed, you had no idea how it always stayed full, or how they always fit you no matter which ones you picked, but you would just chalk it up yet again to magic.
You shuffled into the bathroom, your shoulders hunched and avoiding looking at Loki. You weren’t sure how much more of his disdain you could take today. You shucked off your dirty clothes, leaving them in a basket that had appeared off to one side of the washroom. You were getting really tired of having to write everything strange off as ‘magic’. You wanted to understand, to know why he was able to manipulate energy into obeying his will, to summon warm water for the bathtub, but not be able to heal himself. Yet when you’d tried to ask in the past few days you’d been met with ‘You’re puny mortal mind could never understand’ and that had been that.
What had happened that made you deserve to be treated like this? The complete disregard for your feelings and wellbeing besides basic survival - or making sure you smelled nice apparently - was getting to you. If you’d asked something you shouldn’t have or pushed him too far, all he would have had to do was say so and you would have dropped it. He didn’t need to be a complete ass. There was only so much you could take, even if you knew he was likely doing it to push you away instead of risking you hurting him, your sympathy and patience only went so far.
You splashed loudly out of the tub, shivering as the air had turned colder since you’d entered.
Damn him and his imperviousness to the cold. He wouldn’t mind it, but it would certainly affect you.
You threw on your clothes and glowered at your reflection. You looked exhausted, likely due to not sleeping through the night, too worried that the God at your side would snap at you for invading his space while you slept, or fearing what would happen should you allow your dreams to take hold. You didn’t think he’d be as kind to you as he was the last time you woke up from a nightmare. You groaned and rubbed your face, something needed to change, and you would have to be the one to initiate it.
You stepped cautiously out of the bathroom to find Loki lounging on the couch, buried in yet another book in an attempt to ignore you. You shivered where you stood, arms crossed over your chest.
“Are you sure it’s the fire that’s attracting it?” You asked, clenching your jaw to keep your teeth from clattering.
“Yes, you may take a blanket from the bed if you need it.” He said without looking up. You weren’t going to argue with that, you may be trying to get him to talk to you, but you weren’t going to be able to do much talking if you were too busy trying not to turn into a popsicle.
The blanket offered some warmth, but you could still feel the chill seep through. You weren’t built for this kind of weather.
“It’s still cold,” You complained, tucking your feet under you as you burrowed into the bed.
“Would you rather be eaten or deal with a bit of a chill?” Loki asked dryly, still totally fine in his light cotton clothes despite the cold. You paused, wondering if you should say what you wanted, something to throw a wrench in his indifferent demeanour.
“Of course you see it as only a bit of a chill, you're a Frost Giant, you’re built for the cold.” You said, barely above a whisper. It was the first time you’d purposefully said anything that would give away that you knew more than he was aware you did.
Loki looked up sharply, exactly what you’d been hoping for. You had to keep the self-satisfied smile at bay that tugged at the corner of your lips.
“How do you know that.” He demanded, no room for questioning in his voice.
“Maybe if you’re nice to me I’ll tell you.” You glared at him, you weren’t about to give him everything he wanted for free.
Loki closed his book and placed it on the couch, standing up and closing the distance between you in a few strides. He loomed over you, a dark look in his eyes that reminded you of how he’d looked when he kept you in the white cell. You tried not to shrink back, but you were sure you already looked sad and small wrapped up like a cocooned caterpillar in your blanket.
He gripped your chin in his long fingers, not hard enough to hurt, but enough to remind you he wasn’t playing around.
“Tell me.”
You frowned, “I don’t think you understand what being nice to me entails.”
He leaned closer, the pine scent of his soap filling your nose, “This is me being nice, you have no idea what I am capable of, Princess.”
You wrenched your chin out of his grasp, standing up off the bed and glaring up at him. You still weren’t tall enough to beat him at this game, but you felt better on your own two feet than vulnerable on the bed. You would have liked some shoes to keep your feet from the freezing metal ground, but your thick socks would have to do.
“What did I do to you?” You demanded, “We were getting along perfectly well, and then all of a sudden you cut me off and started belittling me. What happened to all your noble prince crap?”
Loki snarled, “Maybe I tired of your increasingly asinine questions, maybe I realized that I enjoyed my time alone more than I enjoyed being bombarded by you. Be grateful I have not kicked you out to fend for yourself.”
“You wouldn’t do that.”
“Would you like to put it to the test?”
You hesitated, you wanted to call his bluff, but the way his face twisted with rage made you pause, maybe you had underestimated how much he cared for your life.
Loki chuckled humourlessly, leaning back so he was at his full height, “You understand nothing, mortal, stay in your place.”
You balled your hands into fists at your side, “We’ve done this dance before, Loki, and whether you liked it or not, you eventually let me in. I’ve succeeded once already, why won’t I win again?”
Emotions warred on his face, “I do not make the same mistakes twice.”
You smirked in triumph, “So you admit it, you knew me before I arrived here.”
Loki stiffened, realizing his mistake, “I admit nothing, you simply do not have the wits to outmatch me.”
You rolled your eyes, “Deflecting back onto me in hopes that I get upset enough to forget what I was arguing about. I know your tricks, Loki, you can’t fool me.”
“Stop this none sense,” He growled, “You don’t know anything about me.”
“That’s where you’re wrong,” You tilted your head to the side, your gaze softening as you thought of your visions, “I know that when I first met you you acted similarly, threats and taunts meant to get my guard up and answer your questions. It didn’t work, of course, somehow I already knew you then too. I was the one to get your guard down. I don’t remember much of how we got to Earth, you promised to take me with you when you left. Though because of a mistake I made, we remained on Earth after Thanos won. It seems like we even shared a cottage together. When I try to think of that time I only get pieces, but I know in my heart that we were happy. What I don’t know is what ruined it. What happened that led to your imprisonment and my appearance here decades later?”
Grief, so profound that it startled you, crossed Loki’s face before he quickly hid it under his mask of anger. You were getting somewhere, you knew it.
“I don’t know what you're talking about.” He clenched his jaw.
“You kept pictures of us, I found them. You can stop lying, I know the truth.”
“I have no idea what pictures you’re referring to.” The corners of his mouth turned up in a smirk that made your heart jolt. You reached behind you under your pillow, patting around to find those small pieces of plastic you’d been holding onto for days. There was nothing there. You lifted up the pillow, frustration building in your chest when you found the space empty.
“What did you do with them?”
“You were warned against snooping in my belongings,” Loki said, “You should be more careful to listen to what I say.”
“What aren’t you telling me, why are you keeping this from me?” You pleaded, desperation coating your voice, “Why do I have memories of you, of us, if they aren’t real?”
Loki remained silent, staring down at you impassively. You thought you’d been breaking through, but you were so tired, he’d just managed to wear you out.
Tears pricked at the corners of your eyes and you tried to hold them back. Your shoulders slumped and an ache filled your heart. It took you a moment to identify the feeling. You’d felt it before when you’d been in your visions when you tried to think of what had happened. It was grief, “What did I do to you, Loki? I hurt you, didn’t I?”
His jaw went slack with surprise, “You can’t hurt a God.” He didn’t sound as convinced as he would have liked.
“But I did,” You insisted, “I can feel it, the guilt. Please just tell me why.”
“I can’t.” He looked away from you and towards his feet, the anger seemed to dissipate from him like a deflated balloon.
“You can’t or you won’t?”
“I can’t.” He lifted his gaze to meet yours, that horrible grief back on his face, his eyes wide and his lips parted.
“Why not?” The tears that you had held back sprang forth against your will, you wanted answers so badly, and you were so close, but Loki stood like an unmovable boulder in your way.
“You have to figure it out on your own,” Loki sat down on the bed, a few feet away from you. It may as well have been on the other side of the world for how far away from him you felt. You itched to close the cavernous distance, but you held yourself back.
“But you know what happened.” You knew the answer, it wasn’t a question. Loki looked down at his hands.
“I can’t lose you,” He whispered so quietly you almost thought you’d imagined it.
You remembered that vision where you’d been stuck in that orange realm, water layered over the ground. You’d seen Loki on his knees, his face painted with tears. He’d accused you of leaving him. The pain you’d seen in his eyes was so similar to what you saw in Loki now, it broke your heart once more, though you were never sure if it had ever fully healed.
“Again.” You completed his sentence, “You can’t lose me, again.”
The tortured look he gave you said more than words ever could. Whatever you’d done, you’d hurt him so deeply that the only thing he could think to do was to shut you out before you did it again. That was where all this guilt came from, you’d been able to squeeze past his defences, only to shatter him from the inside.
You scooted closer to him, tentatively taking his hands in yours, they were warm and soft, and you never wanted to let go, “What did I do, Loki?”
His lips parted as he let go of one of your hands, reaching up to wipe the tears from your cheeks. He looked like he wanted to tell you, even if he was struggling to get the words out. You felt victory surge through your chest, though it was short-lived.
Blinding pain raced across your skull and you cried out, pressing your palms against your eyes to try to lessen it.
“Princess, what happened?” Loki asked in alarm, but you were unable to answer, your tongue felt like a block of lead and your throat felt raw like you’d been screaming for hours.
Your chest rattled with a deep, wet cough and you covered your mouth with your elbow. When you pulled back, you saw bright red, thick liquid had stained your shirt. You felt something wet seep onto your upper lip and touched it with shaky fingers. It was more red liquid that in your panic you barely registered as blood. Lots of blood.
You swayed, your head feeling light and your eyelids drooping. You felt sick to your stomach, but you had nothing left to empty out.
“I shouldn’t have said anything,” Loki gritted out, guiding you gently onto your side, your head propped up on his pillow. You tried to argue, you wanted him to tell you more, but your mind was so foggy you couldn’t even begin to think of an intelligible sentence.
“Rest. I will fix this.” He promised, his voice laced with dread. You tried to protest, but you could do nothing but give into your body's wishes, and you were pulled into a deep and fitful sleep.
A/N: Would love to hear what anyone thinks of this so far!!
FIC-REC: writinthestars - of course we help him! (a short brodinson gen fix-it based on the olympus scene from the thor-4 trailer)
That awful dude from the Greek/Roman pantheon just flicked all Thor’s clothes away and he’s obviously upset about it and is chained down in the middle of an arena, and you’re really just gonna sit back and ogle him? Seriously?!
At least Loki cares.
Title: Pink Eye
Pairing: Loki X Reader
Warnings: None
Summary: Reader has pink eye and Loki is there to help
Tumblr media
“Pink eye (conjunctivitis) is an inflammation or infection of the transparent membrane (conjunctiva) that lines your eyelid and covers the white part of your eyeball. When small blood vessels in the conjunctiva become inflamed, they're more visible”
Loki reads the definition of pink eye on his phone.
“Ughhh.” You’re currently laying on your bed with a warm compress on your eye.
It wasn’t painful just uncomfortable and unsightly, certainly not something you want your boyfriend to see but he insisted.
“The recommended treatment is eye drops.”
“I don’t have eye drops..”
“Yes well it also says it’s recommended you use a cold compress not a warm one.”
He takes the warm cloth from your face and uses his control over his glamour and cooled down the towel. He doesn’t hand it back to you, instead he softly places it on your face. He takes your hand and places it over the now cold compress so you can take over holding it in place and continues to scroll through his phone for remedies.
“Let’s see…ah chamomile tea!” He holds out the hand not holding his phone and conjures a cup of hot chamomile. Which you gladly sit up and take into your hand, enjoying the contrast from cold to warm from your hand being on the cold towel on your face.
“We can try putting salt water in your eye as well if you’d like.”
“No..no thank you. I’ll go to the eye doctor tomorrow and have them give me some drops.”
“You know we could just go to Banner and he could get you something..”
“No, I don’t want to bother him for this..he has more important things to do.”
“On the contrary my dear, I find your well being very important and if it’s important to me then it better be important to everyone else.”
“This isn’t Asgard Loki, people aren’t going to jump at your beck and call.”
“Why not?”
“Because Loki…you are not on Asgard, this is Earth. A planet you tried to rule don’t forget.”
“Oh I will never forget that darling, that silly attempt at ruling helped me get closer to you after all.”
“Flirt.”
He smiles at you, “you love me.”
There’s a knock on the door and Loki gets up to answer it.
You hear some mumbled speaking and then Loki pokes his head in the room.
“Now darling, I don’t want you to be upset.”
“What did you do?..”
“Hey y/n…” Loki opens the door a little more to reveal Bruce Banner there with his medical bag.
You roll your eyes at Loki and then look to Bruce, “Bruce…You didn’t have to come here..it’s just pink eye…”
“I know Loki told me but if left untreated you could get a nasty infection and it could get worse..humor me..” Bruce smiles kindly at you.
Loki sits on the chair opposite the bed, watching Bruce inspect your eye.
“Yup definitely pink eye..” he reaches into his bag and pulls out a small bottle of eye drops.
“Use this twice a day, once in the morning and once at night before you go to bed and it should clear up in a couple days.”
You immediately put the drops in your eye and feel instant relief.
You keep your eyes closed, “oh thank god..that feels amazing.”
“You’re welcome darling, but the person you should be thanking is Bruce.”
You crack you eye open and look at him, “hush you.”
“Let me know if you need anything else y/n.” Bruce says and stands.
“Thanks Bruce.” You smile at him.
Loki stands from his seat and walks Bruce out. A short while after that Loki walks back into the bedroom looking a little bashful.
“I know you’re probably upset I notified Banner of your ailment but darling I can’t see you in such discomfort. Not if I can help it. If I had the ability to take it completely away from you believe me I would have. Maybe after some more time, Odin will grant me a little more power, I just need to prove myself and I will be at my full strength. Nothing will be able to harm you then.”
“You’re so sweet honey, thank you..” you hold your hand out telling him you wanted him to be closer. He walks over to the bed and takes your hand, bringing it up to his lips and kissing the back of it.
“Would you like more tea? I have enough magic to conjure you another” he smiles.
“Yes please..” You’re not really used to someone taking care of you like this. You and Loki have been together a little less than a year and he is certainly the most attentive boyfriend you have ever had. It was like he knew what you needed before you did, that came in handy in situations like this. Or…you know..
He refills your cup and hands it back to you, he also takes your compress which now is about room temperature and uses his jotun cold to cool the towel down again. He sits down on the side of the bed by your hip and again places the cold towel on your face.
“Between this and Banners drops you should be well soon. Everything I read says you just need to keep the eye clean and no rubbing it..” he gives you a pointed look.
“What??!! I do not!”..he continue staring at you.
“It itches…” you say sadly and stick out your bottom lip.
“I’m sure it does my heart but that will only make it worse, let the drops do their job and I will do my best to keep you comfortable.”
“What did I do to deserve you?” You ask him, truly not comprehending how you could be so lucky.
“Loved me…cared for me…became my one true friend in this entire universe.” He tells you seriously.
“Thor is a true friend to you…” you say exasperatingly.
“I know, I know but he’s my brother, mother made him be my friend.”
“Oh please, he loves you. You’re the one who tortures him.”
“He asks for it.”
“How? By existing?”
He rolls his eyes, “that’s enough out of you, the medication is making you say things you don’t mean.”
You laugh, “they’re eyedrops not muscle relaxers!”
He tickles you and goes to kiss you but you move you face away from his.
“Oh God don’t kiss me, I look horrible.”
He looks at you deadpanned, “you’re serious. You mean to deny me because of your eye?”
“I don’t want you to have this image of me stuck in your mind.”
“And what image is that?”
“My swollen, sickly looking pink eye?”
“I must admit this will be something I remember but not in the way you think. I won’t think back to this moment and feel disgust. No…all I will feel will be the immense amount of love I feel for you and the feeling of loving someone so deeply that even something as silly as a swollen sickly looking pink eye could almost bring me to my knees. I will remember the consuming feeling of needing to find a comfort for you, the lengths I would go to keep you safe and happy. Sweet girl, I will think back to this moment with fondness for the rest of my days.”
“I’m not crying, it’s the eyedrops leaking out of my eye.”
Loki rolls his eyes, “uhuh..sure darling.”
He kisses you on the cheek and proceeds to get in bed with you to cuddle just the way you like. He lays sitting up against the headboard and he places you on his chest, he take the towel from your face one last time and cools it. He places it back but he doesn’t move his hand, he holds it against your face, cradling you against his chest. The warmth of his body and the cold from the towel were making you fall asleep. Loki can feel your body start to go slack.
“Rest my darling, you will be better tomorrow.” He kisses on the top of your head.
You don’t say anything back, you are asleep before he finishes his sentence.
The end…
