So I agree about not shipping the bigger bodies one (my personal opinion there anyhow). But how do you feel on their cartoon counterparts and cartoon aus thenv with them being shipped?

primarily because i have a thing about characters being shipped when they're meant to be best friends. i know it's such a thing to go from friends to lovers and so on, and it can be really sweet, but the fact that romantic love is what folks generally immediately jump to when they see two close friends is disconcerting for me. as an asexual person who has a ton of platonic loves in my life (one such being my best friend who i dearly love), the idea of the sweet, platonic loving gestures shared between myself and my friends (hugging, holding hands, cuddling, hanging out overall) being taken as romantic is so uncomfortable for me. like...that's essentially my family??

so when i see two characters that i see specifically as best friends and best friends only (where romantic love isn't even on the table or suggested or even outright mocked, ie mei and mk in lmk), i get a little irked. it's one thing if their relationship changes canonically, but if they don't show any chemistry beyond friendship, i usually don't care for it.

especially when people don't tag their art as shipping when it's clearly meant to be? it's not that hard. but some artists just don't seem to think it's necessary. blocking a tag only works if people tag in the first place.

anyways, no, i don't ship any version of these two characters together. just can't.

Ao3 tutorial: properly reading a fic's metatext

Fics on ao3 are presented as such:

Which! Whoa! That's a lot of colors and words here! How do I parse out if this fic is meant for me?

Well, fear not! I will walk you through this.

First of all, let's focus on that square on the top left.

There is a lot of info here, but to keep this short, let's focus on the letter on the top left corner: that's the rating of the fic. Aka, the audience.

Here are the different ratings in existence:

G, for Gen. The general rating. Anyone can read this.

T, for Teens and Up. Might be a few swear words, some light violence, some allusion to sex here. Nothing out of place in a YA novel though.

M, for Mature. Now we're getting into adult audiences. There might be heavy violence, or onscreen sex, or generally things you don't want teens to read.

E, for Explicit. Same as M, but we're getting graphic about it. If there's sex, you better believe we're gonna tell you exactly who touched what where. If there's torture, you're gonna read in great details about every organ outside the body.

Not Rated. The author chose not to rate their fic. While there are many reasons why an author might not rate their fic, I strongly suggest you take that as an "enter at your own risk" sign.

Now, for the tags proper.

The shit in bold are the major archive warnings. Ao3 requires you to say if there are any of them before you publish your fic. Here are the major archive warnings:

No archive warnings apply. (Meaning you're probably safe this is a vanilla fic.)

Major character death.

Graphic depiction of violence.

Rape/Noncon.

Underage.

Chooses not to use archive warnings. Be careful with this one. It's like the "not rated" above; it's a big "enter at your own risk" sign, and while it might just mean the author didn't know how to tag their fic and just shrugged, there's also a nonzero chance of you walking right into cannibalism central.

The shit in grey are the pairings the fic is focused on, if any. Generally, people use "blorbo/poglo" to indicate it's a romantic ship, and "blorbo&poglo" to indicate it's familial or platonic.

Everything else is extra information. Usually you will find the characters present in the fic, info on the setting (here "werewolf au,") additional warnings (here "bory horror" and "gore") and generally anything else the author might want you to know.

If you read a fic and find a trope you like- I advise checking the tags see if it was tagged! That way you can look up fics with that same tag later, and get more of what you like. Likewise, if you read a fic and run into a trope you absolutely hate, I advise you to look at the tags, so you can filter out any fic with these later on.

What do you think about Jason's relationship (platonic!!! Father and son stuff. Still can't believe this ship exists. ) with Bruce? Should they even interact at all if DC only makes Bruce abusive and cruel towards him? Or do you ignore whatever is on those pages like it was always meant to be and like a lot of the fandom does?

(Personally, Bruce shouldn't be the best dad but he should never have raised his hand against his kids, unless during sparring and fighting off mindcontrol. The only exception I would make is shortly after Jason died and Bruce, out of his mind with grief, hit Dick who had kind of tried to comfort him. But everything else? Laughably out of character.)

Bruce and Jason's relationship is vastly complicated, but I personally don't think they should be on the best terms.

Bruce is very similar to Jason in that he's been written either okay or horrible by dc writers, but actual good characterization in the last like 10-15 years is pretty rare.

In terms of characterization of Bruce, I'm not as well-versed as I am with Jason, but I have a pretty good idea of how he should be. Bruce is heavily flawed. He has some significant childhood trauma that never got truly dealt with,leading to the creation of the batman. I also sense he has bpd or at least bipolar or something like that, as well as a superiority complex. He's also very stubborn and set in his ways and his instinct is that he's always right and everyone should do what he says. He's controlling and a hypocrite. But he has the best of intentions. He wants to keep everyone safe, he loves his kids and he just wants to protect people, but it has to be his way. I fully believe that Bruce never actually intends to hurt his family, but mental illness mixed with a need for control and a lack of socialization can lead to hurtful actions. In gotham war, Bruce truly believes that what he did to Jason was what was best for him, despite how crazy and abusive it actually was. After Damian died, he loved and grieved so much but didn't know how to handle it. He couldn't live without him so he did everything possible to bring him back, hurting his other kids in the process, but he didn't think he was seriously hurting his kids.

Jason is also very stubborn and a hypocrite. He has some substantial childhood trauma that also didnt get proper attention. he's not as hot-headed as certain characterizations of him like to say, but he is a VERY emotional and emotion-driven person. He thinks with his heart more than his head at times. He has very strong opinions and beliefs. He also loves his family and wants to protect people, mainly children and women, and he also believes that his way is the right way.

Bruce and Jason both think the other is wrong and neither want to compromise. And Bruce has done so much to Jason. And jason doesn't understand Bruce's pov because neither of them can actually communicate with each other in a healthy way and neither of them have healthy ways of executing their beliefs and morals, their actions don't always do their intentions justice.

So I think their relationship is strained. They're too similar and too different at the same time. They both have too many problems and don't take good care of their mental health, leading to some really unhealthy Coping mechanisms. But I do agree that some of things Bruce and jason have done have been super out of character and totally could be erased lol

I really don't care about whatever someone ships or doesn't & I do believe you that it's not meant shippy & I think that's fine, because it's fiction so you can make up a bond between whoever you like however you like. But that goes for everyone else alike.

Art will be interpreted as soon as you look at it not after digging for the artist's own opinion, so I can't say I'm surprised that people look at it and think it's shippy first. Sure, some were annoying about it I grant you that, but I think it's because it simply comes of hypocritical to act like a ship interpretation is nuts when the art simply does look like that on first glance.

The average MP100 viewer will not interpret a familial bond between these two characters who canonically barely interacted, but you did. (& more power to you) Maybe your average follower will not interpret a romantic implication in your artworks, but others will. (& more power to them)

I really don't think people lack parental love to see it shippy, I think people simply expect parental love between, well, a parent and their child. Not someone you personally declared to be a "weird uncle" to a girl he barely knows. I didn't even want good night kisses from my actual "weird uncle" as a kid idk man.

Again, I don't see the slightest issue with the platonic relationship you make up for them. I just also get where the romantic interpretations are coming from.

Your uncle/niece interpretation sincerely is farther removed from canon than ship interpretations are from your artworks.

Interesting message so I'll answer this genuinely.

To start off: I Never once implied that it was crazy that other people would interpret this as romantic at first glance. I quite literally said that I understood the confusion because these two barely interacted in canon. Which is why Im always happy to explain my intentions. Experiences vary so what one considers normal may not be normal to someone else: I'm very much aware of this but y'all clearly aren't.

When it gets to the point where people say "this artist drew that AND said it wasn't shipping even though we can obviously tell theyre delusional and in denial", that's where the problem is. I provide an explanation, that explanation gets ignored, people either answer "lmao just admit it" or they treat me as if I'm the worst person alive and they refuse to accept they must've been wrong about their interpretations. They proceed to openly "discuss" this (by just mocking me repeatedly, nothing constructive) in a public space where they think I can't see it almost as if they forget I'm an actual person who can come across these messages at any time.

What others ship or don't ship is none of my concern, I stay away from circles I dislike. But when people constantly attempt to force me into "admitting" I'm into something that I have zero interest in out of malicious intent, then naturally it'll annoy me.

I'm sure you didn't really mean to imply that I was merely outraged at the thought of someone interpreting this as romantic if they didnt know every single thing about my headcanons which is why I'm answering you sincerely. So please forgive me for assuming the ones who compared a peck on the cheek to some nonsense like "platonic breastfeeding" have never experienced any sort of familial love growing up 💜

Yeah, I see a lot of people say it's like they're an old married couple taking care of their kid, but I just can't see it that way.

I guess it really depends on you view of love. I also guess I just tend to lean toward familial and platonic relationships rather than romantic.

I can see them as just friends tho. Not in the sibling way, but their friendship is meant to mirror Bruce and Clark's friendship, and I don't really ship superbat.

i’m gonna come in asking for platonic ships because i’m cooler than everyone else jazz and cujo :)

Jazz held on tighter to the leash, half jogging, half walking down the road. "I always knew that I'd be the one taking care of it, " she grumbled under her breath. "Only responsible one in the house. Can't even keep the food in the fridge from coming to life, but sure, let's adopt a dog! That's a brilliant idea!"

Cujo, who had been sniffing one of the neighbor's flower bushes, turned around to look at her. He was a smart dog, even when he'd been alive, and Jazz was pretty convinced that death had only made the little guy smarter. It sure felt like he knew she was talking about him, with the puppy dog eyes he was giving her. Jazz walked the rest of the way and bent down to scratch at his head, right behind his ear. It was his favorite spot.

"I'm not mad at you," she said softly. "I just don't think its fair that I'm the one up at two in the morning taking you for walkies when I'm not the one who brought you into this family." Her complaining was just complaining; Danny was out cold after a night of patrolling, and neither of them trusted their parents with Cujo alone quite yet. They'd both been ecstatic about adopting Cujo, after they'd gotten past their initial "That's a ghost which means it is evil and must be destroyed" reaction, but they're excitement had been a bit too close to scientific discovery than a cute new pet. None of that meant that Jazz couldn't complain.

Cujo rolled over onto his back, letting Jazz pet his belly. She knelt the rest of the way onto the ground, blowing a raspberry into Cujo's icy cold fur. "You're lucky you're so cute," she said into his belly. "Otherwise I wouldn't be so willing to do this." Cujo yipped and squirmed underneath her, and she straightened, letting Cujo roll back onto his legs. "You don't even have to pee or anything, you're just impatient."

The neighbor's front porch light turned on, and the owner of the house, a crotchety old man by the name of Mr. Galvon stepped out. Jazz froze in her stooped position.

"I heard ya out there!" Mr. Galvon slurred. Jazz could just barely see his eyes narrowing in her direction. "Damn hooligans, show yourself before I make ya!"

When Jazz was younger and the Fenton's had just moved to Amity, she had been scared of Mr. Galvon. Despite that being years ago, he'd still fit the bill of "old" and "crotchety" just as well. He'd spend hours on his porch, glaring at anyone who dared try and walk the streets, and she'd quickly learned to play hopscotch on the other side of Fentonworks, where his gaze didn't reach. He always smelled strongly like prunes and baby powder, a scent that seemed to waft to him and smother anyone within a thirty foot radius.

Jazz wasn't scared of him anymore; even if it hadn't been for the ghosts, she'd grown up around sentient hot dogs and war hardened Thanksgiving turkeys. It was hard for any regular human to scare her anymore. That didn't mean she wanted to get yelled at by him, or worse, have the cops called on her. Even if she wasn't doing anything wrong, Mr. Galvon would do it, and knowing how little action the Amity Park Police got nowadays, they might put her in cuffs just cause. Jazz decided the best course of action would be to stay crouched and stay still; his eyesight had been fading over the years, so as long as she didn't draw any more attention to herself, she'd be fine.

Cujo did not agree. One moment he was his normal adorable little self, and the next he was towering over her, snarling at the front door. Jazz heard Mr. Galvon curse, quickly followed by the door slamming shut. The porch light shut off, and Jazz was plunged back into near darkness, with only Cujo's green glow to light her way.

Cujo quickly turned back to his puppy self, and looked at her again with his big puppy eyes. She stifled a laugh and scooped him up in her arms, scratching behind his ear again. "Good dog."

Internalized arophobia is such a weird thing. Like, I realized I was aromantic and asexual at basically the same time, but I had a much easier time coming to terms with being ace than I did being aro. My family's fairly religious (and accepting, thank goodness), so the asexual thing was great because that basically meant I'm incapable of committing the sin of lust, and I was always fairly repulsed by the idea of a sexual relationship anyways. But aro? No, no, that can't be right. Not me, right? I remember waiting for my first crush like it would be some kinda orientation box opening where I'd have no idea what I'd get. Even now, loveless aros are still a thing I'm not fully used to. Like, most aros don't care that the allos are allo-ing, they care about the amatonormativity ever present in society that makes it so they should feel obligated to "make up" for their lack of attraction with platonic love, because you won't be accepted otherwise. My internalized arophobia isn't helped by the fact that there's only one other aro person I know, the only reason I found out about it was through a Jaiden YouTube video. I thought the A was for ally for so, so long. There's nothing wrong with an aro showing every person they come across platonic affection, and there's nothing wrong with aros who wanna hide away with all of the garlic bread they could get their hands on and becoming the hermit they were always meant to be. There's nothing inherently wrong with aromantic people who want sexual intercourse. And you know what, I'm probably aegoromantic. Sure, I love my fair share of shipping, but when it involves me? I'd really, REALLY rather not. I'd prefer to live in an apartment complex with people who share my interests while residing with my immediate family and the 12 cats I found on the street. And even though it took me some time, I'm okay with that, or at least beginning to be. I've got plenty of flaws, but not being interested in romance isn't one of them, and it never was. Which is more or less why I've started surrounding myself with the aro/ace flag more often. Because it's a reminder of an aspect of me I was internally bigoted about, even after I incorporated it into my identity and even a bit now.

I'm asexual AND aromantic, and it's so facking cool that I am.

Glad you asked, my fine friend! They're a fictional flower I made up based on these pretty little blooms on the roof of the mansion!

Here's my silly little doodled rendition for reference!

Banshee Blossoms are symbols of love, romantic and platonic, even familial! There's a tradition in the Boo Kingdom where you give one to someone you care about. They're said to bless whomever is gifted one with good luck and a happy relationship for the rest of their lives into their afterlife! Theyre pale white flowers that glow like moonlight with purple foliage.

They only bloom in the month of March, so now is the best time to come and view them!

So, I did a poll for Silver pairs (twice) and have been meaning to give my own thoughts but started writing essays before I realized; wait a minute, I don’t need to do that. I can just give my basic opinion. I don't need to justify or over explain, so here we go!

Silver x Sebek (Silbek) was, voted #1, to the surprise of no one I’m sure.

Personally, Silbek isn’t my cup of tea and I prefer them in a platonic sense. On top of that, I’m not a big fan of childhood friend romance. It just—annoys me intensely and there are very few instances where this trope works for me. (It may because I’ve been exposed to too many Hallmark romances with this trope and in other media.)

There are a few other minor things I don’t like about the ship, but they’re not worth mentioning.

That being said, I can see why others love the pair.

They have enough opposites to be interesting, such as Sebek being loud, emotional, always active, abrasive, and even arrogant at times, while Silver is quiet, stoic, sleeping—through no fault of his own—and humble. Yet both share a lot in common as well:

They place family above all else, are loyal but keep to their morals, and are helpful and kind. 

Plus, in the canon, we see how much they love and care for each other. Sebek is always there to pull Silver out of his own head and sort out his insecurities, as seen when Silver worried about his lack of emotion, when the other Diasomnia students weren’t listening, and—more recently—Chapter 7 and the revelation.

They understand each other, make up for one another’s weaknesses, and more. So, while it’s not my personal ship, I’m not surprised it was voted #1 and can admit it deserves its placement.

So, fun fact; when I did the poll the first time, this pair was the winner. I remember that as I was super surprised. And I’m still a bit surprised they’re #2.

Granted, they’re cute, but I assumed the pair would be in third place behind Silver x Sebek and Silver x Idia, as I don’t see much content between the two

That being said, it does surprise me that this puppy pair has so many fans;

They share the same morals and are cute together, plus, they’re friends in Canon. Also, Silver admits that Kalim is someone very dear to him, and Kalim is always saying nice things about the other. As a bonus, Kalim is already favored by the father-in-law.

I see these two as being the type that are in a relationship before they know they’re in a relationship. They're holding hands, eating together, and going on outings. Neither of them realizes what they’re doing until someone points it out. Even then, they’re confused for a while.

The downside is that while their relationship would help each other grow and change, it wouldn’t be one that could last long-term.

Silver’s dream is to serve Malleus in Briar Valley, a place he loves and where the people he loves live. His dream is to foster peace between the fae and humans.

Kalim, on the other hand, has a responsibility to take over as head, and it’s not one he can just toss aside, and I don’t think he wants to either.

When I think of the outcome of their relationship, I think of this Bojack quote: “I think there are people that help you become the person that you end up being, and you can be grateful for them even if they were never meant to be in your life forever.”

Silver and Kalim would help each other grow, but they wouldn’t be in each other’s lives forever, at least not as lovers. But in fanfiction, anything could happen. And I would love to see more fanfics of the pair and the challenges they would face.

Third, we have Silver x Idia, a personal favorite of mine. I love the two as individuals and squee whenever I see them together. To me, their interactions are a lot of fun, as I like seeing Idia deal with Silver’s “odd” attitude towards things.

On the surface, the two have nothing in common. Idia is shy, while Silver is bold. Silver is determined to the end, and Idia thinks it’s best to not even try. Idia is a tactician, and Silver is a warrior. Idia was raised around technology, and Silver was raised by nature. Idia is weaker than a kitten, and Silver is strong as heck. (How strong? I have no idea.) The list goes on.

Yet, while they are opposites in several ways, their differences just highlight the good they bring out in each other, or could.

On top of that, the few things they do have in common are pretty strong.

I like that they seem to admire each other. Silver genuinely admires Idia’s skills and isn’t afraid to tell him. He often compliments Idia and offers praise, though he does go overboard, which can make her shy.

For his part, while Silver can be too much at a time, Idia admires Silver’s beauty and skills, comparing him to things he finds cool, like ninjas. Both seem interested in the other, though Idia acts in denial.

Both value family to the point where it’s their main character arc. I love that Ortho likes Silver while Lilia and Idia get along online. The in-laws approve!

They also share a deep sense of insecurity about themselves. Idia thinks he is worthless, to the point where all he can do is hide away, mainly due to a tragic event in the past. Silver believes he’s a burden to those around him, and he does all he can to repay those he has troubled. It would be nice if these two could help one another see their own self-worth.

On top of that, I really believe that of all the Silver pairs, aside from Silbek, these two have the best chance to work out in the long run.

If things go well and Idia can break his family curse, he would be instrumental as Malleus’ tech advisor (probably the first) and could bring Briar Valley into the modern age.

And if he can’t and has to work at STYX, Idia and Silver could still work, as both could maintain a long-distance relationship.

Silver was often left behind as a child, and with technology, they could communicate whenever they wanted and visit when they could. On top of that, both have the temperament needed for a long-distance relationship to work.

The problem is that thanks to Idia’s personality, it would be hard for the two to get together in the first place. (His theme song would be “I won’t say I’m in love” as he sails down the river of De Nile.)

Silver would have to realize his feelings first and do most of the leg work in a way that wouldn’t scare Idia off. (That or Ortho and Lilia would have to play cupid.) Regardless, it would be a very slow burn, but I think once they got together, the two could be happy. And once they were together not even the powers of hell would break them up as both are EXTREMELY stubborn. (Another commonality.)

One problem I do have is that, even if they were together, Silver would most likely be doing most of the emotional labor, as Idia is too self-defeatist to do anything. Luckily, Silver’s pretty low-maintenance, and I'm sure Idia would step up if Silver really needed support.

If I had the time and energy I could write an essay on these two, but for now I’ll just say I really love these two and while they’re not #1 on the poll, they’re #1 for me.

The next is Silver x Malleus. My feelings for this ship are complicated.

I like how their personalities mesh, their shared family history, the drama, and all the works that make a ship memerable. Honesty, two have many, many things I like in a ship. There’s just one HUGE problem that keeps me from loving them: Malleus helped raise Silver.

Malleus was there when Silver was a baby and played an active role in raising him--My brain can’t get past that.

When I try to ignore it, my mind can’t help but slide to, “Shit, is this grooming territory?” (It's not unless the fic has Malleus raising Silver with the intent to have sex with him. Even so, there’s a lot of yikes, you know?) But then again, I overthink things, a lot.

That being said, I still find the pairing entertaining.

For one, it’s an interesting pair to explore human and fae dynamics, as well as the blue and orange morality that comes with it. Like when a vampire falls in love with a human. And again, there’s all the stuff I mentioned before.

I’m also really curious how Lilia would react to the relationship. This something I’ve never seen a Silver x Malleus ship bring up, but they should as Lilia is a HUGE part of both their lives. Isn’t anyone else a bit curious?

I don’t think Lilia would be a supporter of the relationship for multiple reasons, so what would he do? How far would he go to keep the two apart? And how far would the two fight him? (The angst potential, man! THE ANGST!)

In a yandere Malleus setup, would Lilia try to run away from his beloved Prince? Would he take up arms against him to keep Silver safe? Would he be able to do anything? Or would he just be helpless as the dragon he hatched takes away his beloved son forever? It just has a lot of potential story-wise, which I adore.

It’s a nice ship to explore darker themes but If I wanna skip those and just have a cute ship, I just find Aus where Malleus didn’t help raise Silver.

So to conclude this part, while I prefer them in a platonic sense I can’t deny that I have an interest in the stories they could tell.

Silver x Riddle; I never thought of these two, but now that I am, I think the two would be like Silbek without the childhood element. I like that Silver would have no issue standing up to Riddle when he started acting like a tyrant and would stop him before it went too far, yet he would always be there to offer support, especially emotional support, which Riddle desperately needs.

On his side, Riddle could help Silver improve himself, such as in how he presents himself, his studies, and his magic. He may even help Silver overcome his habit of talking down about himself.

I think the romance would be a slow burn due to Silver being oblivious and Riddle being a tsundere in denial who refuses to admit his emotions until they overflow. It could be fun to see Riddle drowning and being jealous of anyone near Silver until Trey and Ace have enough and set the two up.

Other than that, I don’t have too much to say.

SilJade is one I forgot to put on the first poll, but one that I like in casual passing for one-shots. To me, Jade is the bad boy that Silver could end up with. I enjoy how Jade is usually sweet toward Silver in canon. While he has his own reasons, he does nice things for Silver and helps him. I also think it’s cute how Silver’s purity surprises him at times. It’s a cute pair for me and I like to imagine them kissing under toadstools.

A pairing that got a mention but wasn’t on the last poll is Silcarter. I don’t think I’ve seen the two interact too much, but I can see Silver operating as a home to Carter, who never got to settle down in the past, and Carter can help Silver in a social setting like Kalim. It’s also neat to see his energy contrast against Silver’s. Other than that, I don’t think much about the pair.

Next have Silver and Leona. (Sileo?)

While in canon Leona is annoyed by Silver, I like the concept of the two.

Personality-wise, there are opposites, but in a low-key way. The only thing they have in common is that they sleep a lot, and even that’s an opposite between them.

Leona chooses to be lazy. Everyone and their mother sees he’s got talent for practically everything but he chooses not to do anything because he never get the role HE wants, which is to be King of Sunset Savanna. So, he choose to be be lazy and just rest all the time. However, Silver doesn’t have a choice.

Silver tries his best to be active and stay awake, but because of his “blessing” he struggles in all that he does.

I really like the contrast between the two. It’s entertaining to see Silver’s earnest and pure nature against the grumpy cat that is Leona and I think, if allowed to develop, they could have an interesting relationship. I can see Leona constantly being a bit annoyed but gradually coming around and may even try to help the other in subtle ways.

There’s also a possible drama plot where Leona wants to be with Silver, but Silver is devoted to Malleus as a guard, resulting in Leona’s insecurities activating as, once again, he can’t have what he desires because another has it. He can’t be Savana’s king, nor could he be Silver’s king.

Like I’ve said with others, it’s hard for me to explain but I like the potential here.

Tied for last are Silver x Jamil and Silver x Azul. Let’s look at SilJam first.

I love how their personalities contrast and how, despite the fact they’re in similar positions, they feel very differently.

Silver is honored to be Malleus’ guard, while Jamil is resentful that he has to serve Kalim. The difference is simple but major. Silver CHOSE to serve Malleus and Jamil only serves Kalim because of family obligations. It’s a single difference that changes everything for the two.

I think it would be fun to explore the two and their dynamics as they grow from each other.

I REALLY enjoyed during the Halloween arc how they worked together and how, for the first time, someone was interested in Silver and his history. I don’t think anyone other than Idia showed an interest in Silver, though correct me if I’m wrong. And even then, Idia seemed more interested in Silver’s dad than him.

I also enjoyed how Silver respected Jamil’s efforts and how he made sure Jamil got the recognition he deserved in the end. Considering how overlooked Jamil usually feels, this was a sweet moment for me.

Not to mention, it was fun to see how Jamil reacted to Silver’s air-headed moments and how he had to work around Silver’s honest nature, though unlike with Kalim, he didn’t seem too annoyed by it. (Of course, they don’t have the complicated power dynamics between them, so that may be why, but I digress.)

I mean, it’s hard for me to explain how much I enjoyed seeing these two together in the Halloween Event. They show an interest and appreciation for one another, I love how Silver baffles Jamil at times and so on.

And, of course, I see story potential! (Yes, this is a big part of why I pick ships. I can’t help it, I like stories!)

A fanfic plot I like is two versions of the love triangle. (Yes, I like these IF done well.) One is where, at first, Silver likes Kalim, who likes Jamil, who likes Silver. Another is that both Kalim and Jamil like Silver, who’s oblivious. Either way, this feeds into Jamil’s resentments, creating drama that could end a victory for him if Silver chooses him in the end.

That being said, the only way these two could have a future is if Silver leaves Briar Valley, as Jamil wants to travel, see the world, and be free. He doesn’t want to stay in one place.

This pair is one I think of when I want Silver to venture beyond all he knows and see the world. To be something more than a royal guard and expand his horizons.

He could still work for Briar Valley by becoming a diplomat alongside Jamil, so he could still embody Lilia’s teachings and fulfill his dreams for peace, but they would still have to leave the Diasomnia fam.

Now on to Azul x Silver (AzuSil? SilAzu?). This is another pairing I believe has potential.

These two are opposites in EVERY way. One is a pure angel of heaven, and one is Azul of the deep. Silver is strong, honest, kind, and does everything for the benefit of others. Azul is as weak as a guppy, cunning, and manipulative, and he does everything for his own benefit.

However, their interactions did light a spark in my brain and I like the pairing of the “devil” trying to charm an “angel.”

The contrast between the two are intriguing and I’m facinated by the idea of these two coming together to make a couple. I think having someone like Silver in his life would help Azul as he could realize not everyone wants something from him and some genuinely just want to help others.

Not to mention fanfic-wise they work SO many ways;

There’s the redemption arc that Silver could provide for Azul--Beauty and the Beast AU, under the sea edition, anybody? No? Oh, come on—as well yandere Azul when the mood strikes, Lilia vs Azul for Silver, and more.

Though I acknowledge these two would probably never work in canon as there Azul is looking for an intellectual partner, I still have a soft spot for them.

Recently, I was asked about SilRook, so I’ll share my opinion here:

First off, my gutter brain found it interesting that Rook appreciates that Silver can “sleep” anywhere, lol.

In a way, I see some potential for fun between these two and think that Rook would hold a lot of surprises for Silver and would help the latter find things to appreciate about himself. Other than that, it seems like it would mainly be Rook being odd or showering appreciation for Silver and Silver going, “Um, okay?” The main entertainment would be from the "in-laws,” as Lilia and Malleus don’t seem fond of Rook.

Rook would be a fun yandere for a fanfic, but otherwise doesn’t do much for me. Still, there’s fun to be had with the two if a writer’s willing to put in the effort.

Another pair that got a special mention was SilYuu. I didn’t put this on the poll as it’s basically Silver x OC as Yuu can be interpreted many way.

If we go off “canon” Yuu, however, they’re still cute but are definitely a “quiet” pairing. And I mean that figuratively and literally due to the fact neither talks much.

I don’t see them as an out-there, exciting couple, but they don’t need to be. Silver can be Yuu’s shelter from the madness of Twisted Wonderland and a safe-port in the storm. It’s difficult to explain, but when I see these two, I see a very tranquil pair with the feeling of a warm afternoon, napping in the son till the kids and grampa start making noise.

And I think that’s it!

I’m sure some of you noticed that most of these are based on the stories I think they could produce, but I can’t help it. I like stories, so when I look at a pairing I think how well they get on together and what tales can they create together. That’s how my brain works, which is why I’m a fic writer.

I guess it’s cheating as I base my ships on potential and what I THINK they could be rather than what they are, but eh.

Anyway, my personal ranking of all the Silver Ships mentioned here are thus;

Love: Silver x Idia, Jamil x Silver

Really like: Silver x Azul, Silver x Kalim, Silver x Malleus with a huge "it's complicated mark"

Like: Silver x Jade, Silver x Leona, Silver x Riddle, Silver x Canon Yuu

Meh/Don’t care for: Silver x Rook, Silver Carter

Not for me: Silver x Sebek

So, how about all of you? What’s your favorite pairing for Silver, and why? I would especially love to hear why people like Silver x Kalim, as, despite it being voted so high, I don’t see a lot of content for the two, so I don’t know why they’re so popular. “I don't know what to do or what the right decision is…all want to do is make her happy”.

Deuce loved his mother. The kind beautiful woman who cared for him and raised him all by herself. He always knew that she deserved the world and that's why along with becoming an honor student he promised that if she ever found someone she truly loved he would support her no matter what. The second promise was proving itself difficult. It wasn't because they were all bad candidates oh no they were all great in their different ways. The problem was there kids Yuu, Vil and Sliver who like him wanted the best for their parents too, although that ment they where each others rivals.

The first candidate for future mom’s boyfriend was none other than his potions teacher Professor Divus Crewel his best friend Yuu’s guardian. Deuce honestly thought his teacher despite being strict was a great role model and found it cool that they shared a similar interest towards vehicles. If he had guessed when his teacher and mother became close was properly after Parents' Day since they exchanged contacts and have been friends ever since. Maybe it was the joint family road trips or the casual questions asking how she doing that would either brighten or darken his mood that made Deuce think he may have a crush on her. It was the new handmade coat and roses that he gave her on her birthday that sold Deuce the idea that he was right.

“You know I hear that Crewel has five puppies at his house” Ace who had elected himself as Yuu/Crewel campaign manager whispered to Deuce as they all took notes.

“Ace let him focus “ Yuu responded quietly “And it's seven puppies not five that are all too cute”.

There wasn't a moment where Yuu and Ace would not hype Crewel up recently, Deuce felt like it was wariness towards their competitors and fear of losing the contest meant losing their best friend forever.Deuce found the situation touching but annoying at the same time.

“Seven puppies? Damn Crewel must be a secret softie”

“He is also pretty cool when he is working on his cars and lets me drive them sometimes. He said he will get me one when I get my driver's license” Yuu proudly stated.

“Wow now I wish he was my dad” Ace sighed with jealousy “Hey juice if you two become siblings Crewel will properly get you your own vehicle as well!”

“ Seriously guys I appreciate the gesture but let me focused since this topic might come up in the test” Deuce muttered as he continued to take notes.Yuu nodded in agreement and left him alone, Ace remained quiet for a few minutes until a idea popped in his head.

“Hey Juice if Crewel becomes your new dad he will definitely help you study!”

“Would you also be interested in me tutoring you Mr Trappola ?” Crewel who at one point appeared in front of the trio asked with an handsome smile “ I never thought a day would come where I would find such an eager pup when it comes to studying “

“ Well you clearly haven't met Riddle- I mean Yes I love studying!” Ace corrected with a strained face. The class became silent as they waited to to see what their teacher would do next, what punishment will give the troublemakers.Despite their expectations Crewel only glanced at the trio, shook the sleeping Grim awake  then walked back towards the black board before turning around one last time

“ I will be expecting A’s in your next exam by the way” he commented as he resumed his lesson.When class finished and students began to leave Deuce saw Ace turn to him with a big grin.

“Look how forgiving Crewel is! He is the perfect in every way possible so imagine what amazing boyfriend he will be”.Deuce rolled his eyes at Ace’s weirdly upbeat attitude.

“Now you are just over selling it Ace if you like crewel soo much you go out with him”

“Nyah? Did I missed something”Grim yawned “We like you , you like us , your mom and crewel like each.So the answer should be simple”

“Grim it is not my decision to make!”

Deuce began to clench his hand tightly as  Grims words freely roamed through his mind. Frustration started to boil up inside since it felt like nothing he was saying was being taken seriously by his friends.There was also a little part of him that felt guilty for staying neutral and not fully siding with them.It's not like he didn't like the idea of being Yuu’s siblings but his mother's happiness came first no matter what since his meddleing might lead to hurting her instead.But if his neutrality caused ruin to his relationship with Yuu, Ace and Grim he would not know what to do—

With a flinch Deuce returned to reality when he felt something land on his shoulder, his eyes met Yuu’s worried gazed as their hand gave his shoulder little squeeze.

“Your right its not our decision and I am sorry if it felt like i was forcing you.”Yuu apologized “Its not an excuse but your guys and crewel are the closes thing I have to a family in this world and its no secret your already like brother to me”

Ace who stood behind Yuu began to scratch his head with a sheepish look on his  face. He gave a little fake cough  while also looking towards deuce along with grim with equal worry in both their eyes eyes”

“As much as I am OFFENDED that Yuu sees you as a brother more then me”Ace joked at first “ your still like my best friend soo like it or not we stuck together no matter”

“But I said your family dude”

“BUT NOT A BROTHER SPECIFICALLYY! Now move over “

Deuce watched as Ace slipped closer bumping Yuu out of the way playfully, taking their spot and placing his arms around each one of their shoulder. The anxiety that filled Deuce heart began to spill out as he  felt his hands slowly unclench

“Even if my mom chooses some other dude..” Deuce asked meekly 

“Especially if she does! Your not getting rid of us that easily Juice “ Ace flashes his iconic crocked smirk “Also I will be retiring as Yuu and Crewel campaign manager. That was job toooo taxing” he said as he ruffled both of their hairs

Yuu scoffed and retaliated with a light nudge into his the rib while Deuce felt the corners of his lips turn up as he shoved Ace’s hand away from his head. Ace dramatically pretend to be  hurt before all three of them bursted into a fit of laughter.

“Thanks guys I really mean it”

“ Dont worry Deuce We will make sure no one else bothers you about this “ Grim promised as he hopped onto Deuces head

“Nyah I am but confused…does that mean no more sleep over at Crewel’s house?”

“We are totally still having a sleepovers at crewel house Grim so don't you worry”

“Great then since Crewel’s house has more fancy tuna that I might generously share if you ask nicely” Grim cheered as he leaped into Yuu’s arms next “ Now lets go for lunch hench-men”

“Yeah all this campaigning  made me fanished” Ace complained

“I hear they are serving deluxeminced meat culet sandwich today so we should hurry”

“We should also hit the library afterwards since someone's needs A’s on their next exam”

As the group walked towards the door laughing bantering among themselves Deuce felt this was the end for all  his problems for today. Before they all left the classroom a beautiful cheerful voice rang from behind them along   with a tall looming shadow.

“ oh yes nothing is as magnifique as a beautiful friendship Non? “  

All four of them  jumped in surprise before turning to see their senpai Rook standing  behind them with a amused look on his face. Quickly both Yuu and Ace stood in front of deuce on guard while Grim ready himself for any attacks. 

“What do you want Rook?” Yuu asked cautiously

“ Theres no needs to be frightened since I am only here to invite Monsieur spade for lunch with my dormleader  Roi Poison today “

“Oh hell nah Juice is coming to have lunch with us”

“Yeah back off”

The sudden hostile attitude towards Rook was because he was the biggest support to Vil Schoenheit whose  father was  candidate number two for future mom’s boyfriend.Deucd was also surprised by that fact as well until recently 

“Oh dear so there is no way we can talk calmly about this at all? ” Rook questioned with a sad look on his face “ how unfortunate I was ordered to bring Monsiour Spade no matter what “

“What do mean no matter what—”

Something  clanked on the ground as Rook was talking that caught Deuce’s attention.He saw a small potion bottle spill on the ground, before he knew it he was already thrown over Rook’s shoulder who then quickly ran towards a nearby window and jumped out with swift grace.As they began to fall down Deuce saw the class explode with pink smoke and along with Ace screaming some curses before his voice got muffled.

“The trickster along with monsieur heart will be fine” Rook chucked with calm look on his face as he continued to carry Deuce once they landed on the ground

“ the potion I used only froze them for 40 minutes which is enough time for you to have your chat with our gracious dorm leader!”

Okay. Wow. (also feel free to circulate this post to people even if they don't like me)

I didn't want to make a post like this but things have gone too far. I am still not mentioning names. If you know you know, if you don't know, ignore this post and be happy that you don't know.

Yesterday I went on a blitz of blocking people I was told had been sharing my private DMs and talking shit about me behind my back with an artist who is freaked out that I told them I wouldn't take down a reblog, and then explained that they are popular with RavWave shippers, and that I didn't know who they were until other shippers sent me their stuff, because their art does look shippy to us.

It seems that a lot of the people who are really mad about this (and you're welcome to share this one post of mine with those people, though I do not appreciate that their friends have been stalking my blog in general) think that I was trying to ARGUE with that person.

Much as their motivation in drawing the art was not to depict my OTP, my motivation in telling them that they accidentally did was not to argue with them about how they should view the relationship. It was information about why people get what is apparently the wrong idea about their art.

If I were writing or drawing something that was being misinterpreted all over creation, I would want to know why.

Then I would be armed with the knowledge to decide whether or not I wanted to do things differently in the future.

"I don't care what those people think" is a valid decision. So is "hmm, maybe she has a point." Whichever decision I made, I'd want to make it as an informed decision.

I feel a little sorry about this giant misunderstanding, but I'm absolutely disinclined to apologise because:

Their first message to me was insulting. Many people believe that it was a "polite request". But polite words can be used in a thoroughly rude and nasty way. There is no nice way to tell someone that you think they're so nasty you don't want your public posts appearing on their blog.

Saying no to requests is a thing that people are allowed to do.

Their second message to me, which evaded my block because it was sent to another account, was blatantly offensive and went into the quality of my family and relationships. I didn't respond to that because I'd have gone off.

They have their friends stalking my blog and have admitted to doing so, and have responded to venting on my part by vagueblogging in my own blogs by telling everyone that they're the person I am annoyed with and here are the receipts. Seriously, wtf?

I only know this because I'm trying to block all the assholes who are reposting my personal conversations with them, a thing i only know because a friend of mine told me so after receiving a demand they unfriend me.

Under the cut: why IDW Ravage would never allow herself to be handled like a pet cat, and why RavWave shippers feel the same way about the Earthspark deleted scenes, even though we know that's probably not what the showrunners meant us to think.

I have come to the conclusion that's it's just another case of antis thinking that if you can see two people in a non-platonic relationship that they think of as family, you're just nasty. Especially if the feline shaped character is being handled like a pet cat.

But the person who said "I look disrespectfully on anyone who ships this, that's just a goof and his cat" has missed the entire point of these characters' relationship. Soundwave would never treat or handle Ravage like she was a pet cat.

Anyone else who says RavWave shippers are nasty because "it's NoRMaL to handle your cat that way" is fundamentally not getting who Ravage is and how she feels about being touched.

Ravage is a sapient adult mech with a full range of sapient adult feelings, and touching her like she's an animal is a microaggression or a macroaggression, depending upon where and how you touch her. The oppression of beastformers is a big fucking thing in IDW 2005. Other beastformers also complain about constantly having to deal with unwanted and disrespectful touching. (Fortress Maximus is a known offender.)

IDW Ravage is sleeping in Megatron's bed throughout MTMTE (when she's under it, she's guarding him). She only allows him to touch her neck in front of others...because behaving like a pet cat increases the chances that people will treat her like one.

(She almost cut Nautica several times. That's another character I ship her with, because what would be funnier than her realising that this actually is a whole ass person and if she can't stop touching her, she might actually be attracted to her?)

(Note: Canonically, Ravage in IDW uses he/him, and I do know that. However, about half the fandom writes Ravage as female. I'm in that half.)

BTW, I feel exactly the same way about the Earthspark deleted scenes. Every RavWave shipper on the planet does. We've talked about it. We realise that the artists and showrunners probably intended it to be innocent on the grounds that she is a cat. But we are also people who like to write her as an adult Decepticon officer with agency and self-respect who wouldn't behave like that in front of other people unless they knew he has privileges they don't.

I am aware that half the fandom draws Ravage art that's basically cat memes. (I hate that so much. But as a proshipper, I recognise people have the right to depict characters any way they want. That doesn't mean I haven't had to vent to people like @bitegore and @miner16 to keep myself from saying something.)

Also, I strongly suggest that people who get this worked up about misinterpretations of their art or writing do not become professional creators. As a member of fandom since the 1970s, I'm kind of super extremely aware that most of what fandom does is counter to what the creator intended, and frequently that's the point.

I'm also kind of super extremely aware that if you don't have loads of people reinterpreting and remixing your work and your characters, that actually means nobody cares about your work enough to have blorbo feels about your characters.

(The side poll, which came from another blog and mentioned no names, was an irritated attempt to find out whether people really do think it's normal to cuddle your mom that way, because the second message insinuated that my mother and I must have a terrible relationship because we don't touch each other like that. I kinda wanted to know what people who were not predisposed to take my side and did not know what was going on would think of that idea, because I really do not think most people touch their mothers like that; their mothers aren't nonsapient animals and would thus consider it weird and inappropriate.)

Have you ever written an AU where Aegon II survives longer after the dance, or do you consider writing one? (Obviously it's fine if you aren't interested, I hope you don't feel uncomfortable by me asking)

I think the idea is interesting because he would have had to remarry and start a "new" family to have more heirs... like his father did.

Aegon is Viserys's mirror. Both became king because most of Westeros supports male primogeniture, both outlived their dragons, both are broken physically, both only had one female surviving child from their first marriage to their relative who they married very young

As heartbreaking as it is to say this, I think if Aegon had remarried like his father did, he would have treated the children from his second marriage the same way Viserys treated him & his siblings because he's just like his father and Helaena was his Aemma

Obviously he'd name whatever future eldest living son he had heir but in all other ways Jaehaera would have been his Rhaenyra

...and the emotional neglect would all be the same. The shadows of Jaehaerys & Maelor would have hung over those kids the way Baelon hung over his.

Jaehaera definitely wouldn't have grown up to be another Rhaenyra because natural difference in personality + different traumatic childhood experiences + not being raised "thee heir" but I can see their father's treating them the same. Never the most important until their mothers and brothers are dead and suddenly their everything because they're all Aegon & Viserys had left from "the good part of their lives".

The cycle of abuse/neglect in this family is tragic, and everything we know about Aegon, both from his personality and experiences, tells me he wouldn't have been able to break it.

To start with the question - first of all don't worry it's not uncomfortable at all! but I haven't, and I would probably not write it myself as in the long run it wouldn't really cater to me as a writer (as I ship helaegon pretty exclusively with one another and while I love, love the angst, an AU like that would require much care put into it that I don't have the time or will to provide). That being said, you put it in SUCH a fantastic way, and I think we have the same mind, because yep, lmao. I am obsessed with Aegon II and Viserys parallelism, tbh, the tragedy of it is so raw. I have gone on record talking about drunk-on-poppy-milk Aegon thinking he's going to see Helaena when people tell him about him going to meet his (new) wife. The level of guilt he could have from knowing that this all stemmed from his taking of the crown (or maybe, it was always meant to be, considering the circumstances with TB - but either way, he doomed his sister-wife and his kids just by being him and that is SUCH a blow). Everything you put down on, I agree with 100%. Whether you see Helaegon as romantic or platonic or whatnot, the days he was married to Helaena and had his kids with her was the era of his life that was quiet and he was more free. And now he's traumatized to think of all the loss he has suffered, not as able-bodied by any means, and suffering long term guilt. You can just see him on his dying breathes thinking he's seeing Helaena in the light - and perhaps everyone else he has failed, too. Aegon II and Viserys I parallelism always, always FUCKS. The generational trauma will never stop hurting those who weren't well-adjusted enough to bear it in the first place. Amazing angst take anon, I love.

So these guys were raised together starting at anywhwre from 8-12 by Diluc's father and the original Chinese version of the game describes them as sworn brothers...

They are frequently shipped. This frequently disgusts people who view them as familial. There will never be peace because, technically, both are correct. In different languages (and as much as any non-danmei ship can be)

Their canon situation? Could be pushed as childhood friends -> inseparable brother-in-arms -> inevitable yet unimaginable betrayal -> reconciliation or tolerating with juicy & spicy tension (with lots of shipability)

This has become a proshipper and antishipper hill to die on in English fandom, which I think is a poor choice considering the canon situation. Like virtue signaling through harassing fans with accusations of moral depravity is bad for fan spaces, I agree. Trying to push fanon over canon as loud as possible to punish people who don't like it is bad for fan spaces, I agree. This pair is a completely different issue of fandom misunderstandings and discomfort and denials which you are adopting to fit a certain narrative, so I also disagree with it as an example

The shippers defend it as they were never meant to be adopted brothers, they are not biological brothers (and they think it's cute/hot), or the familial feelings bond was destroyed and they have no blood familial bond. It depends on their native language and their shipping habits
