Male and female Silver together!
Female version
Male Version
There some NSFW versions of the two which I used as bases to draw the outfits on. I hesitated to post them them recalled that people post NSFW art of twst characters all the time and these are safe in comparison. However you can't tell any of the Dia-Boys about them! We don't want Lilia or Sebek to have heart attacks, now do we?

Okay, I need to find male references. This may be a shocker but I've been using anime women to practice drawing Silver and I think it's having an odd influence. Oh well. At least he's pretty.

Just some female Silvers looking pretty and about to give the Dia-boys a heart attack. The original purpose was to try an make the long hair more like the KotD's hair, but... well, more practice is needed.

Whats about Malleus that made you dislike him? Just curious.
I’ve mentioned some of these points before, but just so they’re all in one place, I’ll repeat those. (There are main story spoilers ahead!)
Please bear in mind that these are just my opinions; it’s fine if you think differently than me, just please respect my right to dislike a character, as I am respecting your right to like them.
The most minor complaint I have is how he looks. Malleus is drawn and modeled prettily, much like the other characters, but I’m not a fan of his design (especially the haircut) or his color scheme itself. They’re just not to my personal tastes. His dorm uniform, school uniform, and PE uniform are the worst offenders, as they all match in colors (neon green and black), so they all muddle together and make him look not all that distinctive. At least with other students that have similar colors as their clothes, their eyes are an accent color (Riddle, Ruggie, etc.) or their hair is a shade that is distinctive enough from their clothes (Sebek, Azul, etc.). I understand that black is considered a noble and important color for the Draconias and that the neon green is supposed to reference Maleficient’s own colors and fire, but... I still don’t like either color.
I dislike the tropes that are typically associated with Malleus so, by proxy, I dislike Malleus. I prefer the “looks harmless, could kill you” types more than the “looks like he could kill you, is actually soft on the inside” types or the “looks like he could kill you, can actually kill you” types,. The whole “befriending a lonely, monstrous prince” thing isn’t appealing to me either. Those types of characters naturally lend themselves to another trope, the “I can fix him” trope, which is another one I have never cared for. I’m here to make you worse, not better 😤 Because of the type of character Malleus is, I don’t find the “cute” things he does to be endearing either, I just see them as “okay, he did a thing” or “I guess he’s experiencing it for the first time, so good for him”.
I say this semi-jokingly, but I seem to have “anti main guy” syndrome. Like I mentioned before, I’m super not into the dorm leaders, I much prefer the vices. The same extends to other forms of media. For some reason, I almost never gravitate toward the most marketed characters... I always seem to like the “helper” type characters or very minor/side characters like the mob students or like... Najma 😂 I can’t really explain why, but it’s probably because I like seeing how they support or hold up the main cast, or how they operate on the sidelines when the attention is not on them.
I understand why Malleus acts the way he does, but I can’t personally empathize with his brand of loneliness. I’m sure that I’ve also been lonely at times, but I’ve never been lonely because I’m so powerful, important, and scary that others avoid me or forget my existence altogether. That’s why I say I can’t empathize with Malleus’s “brand”. Loneliness and fear of loving my loved ones in general, sure, I can definitely relate to that. Malleus’s general circumstances though, I can’t.
I don’t like how much Malleus and Yuu’s friendship is “pushed” or tried to be sold to me (both in the main story canon and within the fandom). I feel like it is disproportionate to how much time we actually get to see and interact with him in the game. I know they’re probably feeding us tidbits now to build for the tragedy of book 7 (which might have Yuu and Malleus’s friendship come into play), but... I don’t know. I can’t get immersed in the sections where we hang out with Malleus because realistically, if I’m meant to self insert as Yuu, I would never call him a friend. I’ve spent too little time with this random guy that just walks by my dorm at night to really know what he’s truly like. And the fact that Malleus just goes along with it because it amuses him to see a human that’s naive enough to not know what he is... It gives me weird vibes, and I’m not for it.
Malleus just bores me. To me, that’s the worse thing a character can be: boring. Fiction exists to entertain and amuse, right? Yet every time I have to read Malleus’s lines, I don’t feel anything. I’m not saying his reactions should be over-the-top, but I’d like it if they could get a small chuckle out of me every now and again. Even with other calm, composed or quiet characters, at least I can get a kick out of them trying to contain the rowdier characters. The same doesn’t hold true for me for Malleus. He is powerful, he can fix any problem with the snap of his fingers or just by chastising Sebek the troublemaker. It seems like nothing can faze him because of how elevated his status and power is, and so his reactions to things are so... blunted and not fun to read.
Going off of my last point, the stakes are low, almost nonexistent. I will acknowledge that sometimes I do like overpowered characters, but only when they are given interesting and unique backstories or personalities which at least help to offset how much power they have. However, I find the discrepancy between Malleus and his peers to be too vast (like, he’s one of THE top 5 strongest magicians not in just NRC but in the WORLD), and without any apparent drawbacks or restrictions on his power (that we know of yet), Malleus is in ZERO apparent danger and I find it annoying that people keep acting like he is (looking at you, Sebek even if I generally like Sebek) when he’s just fine on his own. I know he’ll always come out on top because he can easily take others down, I know what the outcome will be. It’s not enjoyable if I can see the ending coming from a mile away, it’s not enjoyable if I know the character will suffer no consequences from their actions. This may change in book 7 (since we are all expecting Malleus to OB and to learn more about his weaknesses then), but that doesn’t excuse all the other content (vignettes, events) where he is just overpowered as hell and “they’re just building up hype for the main story” doesn’t hold as much water.

A character that is truly awful to others and yet has no strong special magical power that matches with the fear they strike in others....sounds like ya want Jade LOL.
[Referring to this post!]
Tumblr media
Mmm… I like a certain type of character, and Malleus just doesn’t fit into that type.
I think it's so much more interesting to read about a character that has to deal with their limitations or averageness and find clever ways to work around them rather than just being overpowered or a prodigy from birth (even if the prodigy character has other negative traits or a sad backstory to help balance out their innate power).
Like, look at Jade. He hasn't been described to be particularly "better" at magic than his peers, and we know that he has had to train hard to get to the physical prowess that he currently stands at (his mom made him practice martial arts for self-defense purposes). His Unique Magic is also limiting, as it 1) requires eye contact, 2) can only be used once per person and 3) doesn’t work on overly cautious types. This forces him to think strategically, as it would put him at a massive disadvantage if he used his magic whenever he felt like it. But he still makes it work, and that's admirable. Jade knows it isn't wise to brute-force his way to solutions, so he goes with the (arguably longer and harder) route of killing his enemies with other means. I think it's really neat and intriguing! It takes a lot of smarts and creativity to plot things like that, and they're great fun to unravel.
Now let's look at Malleus. (Again, I'm speaking only on my perspective, so this will be totally biased.) He's so powerful that not even Overblot Vil's poisonous mist can harm him. Malleus easily dispels other people's magic like it's nothing, he can teleport away from danger in the blink of an eye, and he can literally reassemble a collapsing stadium with the wave of his hand. There is much less at stake and way fewer obstacles to him because of his insane power level. (Like... why did Leona think his stampede plan would work in chapter 2 when Malleus can just teleport away?) He never has to stop and think tactfully about combat, he just summons a meteor and blows up the battlefield. If he can insta-win every battle or fix everything that's wrong just by snapping his fingers, it's not interesting for me to read.
The only tact Malleus really has to demonstrate is holding himself back from lashing out, as it could make the entire royal family or his country as a whole look bad, since Malleus is "representing" the Valley of the Thorns. That’s the standard struggle that characters in high positions like Malleus have to deal with. He doesn’t really do anything to reinvent or put his own spin on the trope (not that he has to, but I find that kind of dull because it doesn’t differentiate him from similar characters from other franchises).
Both Jade and Malleus have their faults, of course. I’m just saying that, between the two, I find Jade to be the one that’s much more compelling to read.

Sorry if this was asked before but I'm curious, why is malleus your least favorite of the boys
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OH BOY, where do I even begin? 😂
You can read this post (which outlines my major gripes with Malleus) and this post (which explains my feelings on his role in the main story’s narrative and the difference between enjoying writing a character vs disliking that same character on a personal level). I would also recommend this post because it has J word in it (it explains more of my thoughts on how strong Malleus is compared to the rest of the cast).
I would also like to add a few more things to my list of “Why I don’t like Malleus” based on my experience with canon content and/or the fandom since making that post:
In the second Halloween event, Malleus does something I just can’t forgive (I’m going to keep it vague to avoid spoiling TWST EN players), and it irks me that no one except for Ace seems to hold him accountable after like 5 minutes of being upset with him. This speaks to a few points I made in my original “Why I don’t like Malleus” post: because he is of such a high status and is so powerful, his peers can’t really do anything to counter the insensitive things he sometimes gets up to, he doesn’t get his comeuppance (compared to characters like Deuce, that constantly get beaten down or keep trying but failing, or Riddle, who has to work hard to cultivate his magic from a young age).
In reexperiencing TWST because of the release of TWST EN, it has become all the more apparent to me that the time Yuu spends with Malleus is super minuscule. I technically already mentioned this point, but it’s FAR more glaringly obvious now that I’m going through it all again. It just highlights the cognitive dissonance I feel whenever I’m playing through the main story, especially knowing what comes later. For example, there is this one moment of payoff in chapter 5 that some say is the “highlight” of the chapter because the rest of it was a slow-paced training arc... and it really doesn’t feel deserved to me because of Malleus showing up so little in the previous chapters. I understand why Yuu’s friendship perhaps means a lot in Malleus’s eyes, but I cannot say I feel the same for him, and I definitely cannot say I get why Yuu thinks of Malleus as anything more than a vague acquaintance. Since Yuu is meant to be “me”/an easily self insertable role, I don’t appreciate being dragged along on this friendship that I didn’t ask for, even if it’s meant to be important in the overall main story.
Time and time again, Malleus is given chances to reach out to others and yet rarely do I see him attempting to. His common peers are often reluctant to approach him—so why doesn’t he take the initiative if he’s sensitive about being forgotten or left out? I understand that socializing or putting yourself out there can be anxiety-inducing, but Malleus really is not helping himself by perpetuating this cycle and making little effort to get himself out of it. I also dislike that he doesn’t seem to make an effort to understand others (as demonstrated in his Dorm Uniform vignettes) despite Lilia often trying to get him to see the importance of it.
This admittedly has less to do with the character and more to do with his fans (not ALL fans, mind you, just the loud minority) but it still contributes to why I dislike him and I want to be honest about it. When I spoke about why I don’t like Malleus in the past, I experienced several weeks’ worth of harassment about it (and, if I recall correctly, this continued into the beginning of 2022) 💦 This included, but was not limited to: trying to get me to change my opinion on the character, arguing against points that I had clearly stated were “just my opinion”, gaslighting me about my understanding of him, insulting other TWST characters to prop Malleus up by comparison, making every single topic of discussion Malleus, and even retroactively trying to change who Malleus is as a character just to get me to agree that I like him (which I don’t). At the time, I made a few posts publicly to ask that my opinion be respected, and in response, I was told by some people “well, we’re just trying to make you appreciate Malleus more, so we are doing nothing bad and you’re just overreacting”. It stops being ‘trying to make me appreciate Malleus more’ and veers into harassment because I would sometimes wake up to as many as 10 asks a day of JUST talking about why me disliking Malleus was “wrong” (and it was clear they were coming from the same people because the same points with the same wording would be brought up multiple times). Many of those asks were EXTREMELY lengthy too, washing out all other non-Malleus asks and making me genuinely dread looking at my inbox. Again, I totally get that this is no fault of the character himself and that there are lots of really nice and understanding Malleus fans out there! However, this still doesn’t change the fact that I’ve made that negative association from my experiences 💦 I already disliked Malleus from the get-go, but these kinds of things only further exacerbate my feelings.
I hope that I sufficiently explained my thoughts and that I didn’t step on anyone’s toes 💦 As I’ve mentioned before, you’re valid for enjoying the characters that you do, even if I don’t personally enjoy those same characters! Just please remember to treat each other nicely, even if you don’t agree on something.

May I ask why you dislike Malleus so much?
Tumblr media
[For context on why I dislike Malleus: here and here!]
Tumblr media
Many of the reasons previously cited above are still applicable presently (though some points may be outdated since those posts were written before book 7). In this post, I will mostly be focusing on why my thoughts on Malleus have not changed despite the new added content of book 7.
I ramble on for a bit, so I put my thoughts below the cut! Ah—but before you read, please be aware that these are my opinions and not meant to be disparaging to any Malleus likers out there.
Me disliking him should not take away any of your joy!! Go out there and love him for me ^^
A lot of the things happening in book 7 were a long time coming, so really I felt as though Malleus finally “losing it” was affirming of all the red flags from before. Since day 1, his loneliness, aloofness, and awkwardness around his peers were key traits of his. What book 7 does is it magnifies the darkest aspects of his character.
We’ve seen several examples when Malleus has fits of rage and his power flares out of control or he at least threatens it. In Glorious Masquerade, he becomes enraged at the realization that the invitation he received was a false one. In A Firelit Sky, he insinuates that he would be upset if people questioned his presence for the trip. He crushes Lilia’s phone in his own Dorm Uniform vignettes, destroying a friend’s belonging because he was upset about not being invited to an occasion. In book 7, we see a flashback of Malleus freezing the whole castle as a child because his grandmother, overtaken by her duties, could no longer dine with him as promised. Malleus’s temper has been a persistent issue since childhood.
We’ve also seen him act callously toward his classmates and misuse magic to force his will upon them. Remember him stopping time during Endless Halloween Night? How he wanted some ghosts to enjoy themselves instead of missing out on being with everyone for the holiday? Now he’s stopping time in book 7 and keeping everyone in their happy dreams forever. Remember how (in his Dorm Uniform vignettes) Malleus thought it would be easier to make the other dorm leaders come to him instead of him coming to them for their meeting? So then he disregards their autonomy and casts magic that’s normally cast on objects on living beings (something which the other dorm leaders take offense to, as it is dehumanizing). He fails to consider their perspective when he returns to Diasomnia (he basically goes, “well, I wouldn’t have been mad if they cast that spell on me!”). Malleus learns nothing from the experience despite Lilia trying to tell him over and over to be more considerate of others and how different they are from him. Now we have Malleus relating his peers to a virtual pet that he never ever wants to leave him.
Malleus can be stubborn and arrogant. He has a very single-minded way of thinking and often does not consider others’ feelings before he makes the decision for them. Malleus can be insecure. He doesn’t even fully realize he is lonely until Yuu suggests it in book 7, but he’s capable of acting on his bouts of intense emotion. He has always had these flaws, and now they are being brought out in full; we’re being forced to confront OB Malleus and all the complicated, twisting feelings of abandonment that come with him.
Let’s make one thing very clear: I don’t take issue with the overblot boys in general; they are meant to be morally grey characters that act in dubious ways. It would be insincere for me to claim “I dislike Malleus because he did bad things!” News flash, many TWST characters have done bad things or at least questionable things that would give you pause. What separates Malleus from the others and makes him egregious enough to earn significant ire from me is the particular actions he takes (which triggers a personal disdain of mine).
Malleus consistently exerts a scary amount of control over others. This is not a new idea; Riddle and Vil are also notorious for being oppressive or controlling, and I’ll be the first to admit that. (You’ll note that those two are low on my tier list too.) The thing is, Riddle and Vil were very overt and open about their demands for obedience. Malleus can be too, but it’s so insidious how he acts within the dreams. He ignores people’s autonomy, gaslights others, and, again, acts like he knows what’s best for them 💀 Other characters have done these things too, but never to the same scale or by exerting this much power. Malleus then resorts to violence when his lies don’t work, even though he’s fully aware of the power disparity between him and his peers. It feels particularly scummy to me because of how Malleus frames his selfish actions and feelings (his wish for Lilia to not leave) as selfless (for the benefit of his peers) and something everyone else would want in order to justify it to himself 💦 I know he is in (or bordering on) overblot so he wasn’t thinking rationally at that point, plus the fact that many examples I listed come from events or vignettes which may not be canon to the main story timeline. Still, there is a concerning pattern of behavior with Malleus misusing his powers or not being considerate of others and failing to grow from those mistakes. You can only go “oopsie” so many times before you harm someone by accident. I expect people to learn their lesson by then and adopt some proper restraint. He keeps claiming his intentions are good as if that’s supposed to dismiss any harm that results from his actions??? No, his actions still harmed people and he has to deal with the consequences of them, not have them hand-waved away or excused. The behavior I’m witnessing is reminiscent of like… having a toxic friend that is constantly told “hey, what you’re doing/saying makes me feel uncomfortable; do you think you could dial it back?” and the friend tells you they’ll try but then never actually changes their behavior or defends their behavior with “I didn’t mean to, so therefore I did not actually harm anyone”.
You can give me a backstory, but a backstory only goes so far as explaining why he is the way he is; it does not excuse him at all. You can say “He’s a fairy! He’s sheltered!” until the cows come home, but when he relies on magic to quickly fix the problems he caused instead of stopping to genuinely reflect on why people are mad at him, it’s hard for me to sympathize. Because of his immense power and status, the only person that can reasonably hold Malleus accountable is himself, and he has not demonstrated to me that he can do that.
Book 7 is essentially the payoff for allllll the tropes and traits I never liked to begin with coming into fruition. That’s why Malleus has stayed where he is in my TWST character ranking. I did not expect the writing, no matter how good or tear-jerking, to change that. Until Malleus shows that he’s fully apologetic, recognizes the error of his ways, and consciously tries to connect with others and understand their perspectives, he’s staying squarely where he is.
Am I saying a character with flaws is a bad thing? No, absolutely not! Flaws are what make a character interesting, I’m not faulting Malleus or any other characters for having them. Am I saying that he is poorly written? No, I think Malleus is actually quite a complex character and he’s been really fascinating to follow. It was so clever how the devs related his virtual pet to wishing for happily ever afters for people in his real life. This magnitude of danger is also just about what I expect of book 7 and the themes of togetherness that TWST was angling for from the start. But the fact remains unchanged that I perceive his attitude as irritating at best and reprehensible at worst.
My distaste for Malleus is based entirely on my own views and life experiences. The specific flaws Malleus has and how he acts because of them don’t sit well with me and the kinds of things I enjoy in fiction. It’s not anything deeper than that!

Hey, it’s Mad Yuu and his new design, with Grim as a special guest.
I wanted to draw Yuu with rubber-hose limbs, but they weren’t working out, so I dropped it. Anyway, with the design, I wanted to do my best to make him appear youthful (a part I did a bit too well), energetic, “innocent,” and slightly mad. His colors are all monochrome in order to contrast against all the vibrant characters of NRC. It's also to add a bit of irony, as Yuu has one of the more “colorful” personalities.
Anyway, I hope you like him!

I didn't want to hijack your post so I made my own here. Thank you for answering and I agree! More magic pls! And I'm with you on the world building and anime as well.
So Hana; I came across a post talking about unpopular twst opinions and was wondering if you had any.
Hello Violet 🌸💚🌷
I hope it’s okay for me to call you Violet 💚🌷
This is a rather interesting question 🤔 and I had to think on it a bit. I honestly don’t know if some of what I say is unpopular or not, so I guess I’ll express a few of my opinions that I have. ☺️🌺
I guess before I list them I should say that this is my opinion only. I don’t mean to hurt anyone by expressing them nor am I calling out anyone. Literally just my thoughts. You’re allowed to agree or disagree✨✨
Normally, I would assume I wouldn’t have to put a disclaimer such as this because everyone has their own opinions and we should all have an open mind but I’ve seen the internet lol and wowza on how some act to such things lol 🌺🙏
I hate the guest room. Personally, I’m not into that kind of mechanics in gaming. It’s not for me. The fact that we have to do it to level up friendship levels irks me. And it’s a complicated system too which is another annoying aspect. I also kind of blame the guest room function for personal stories being lowered since those have been replaced with furniture. It’s just an extra chore that I’m not really into.
Event wise: I think we have too many octa (+ ortho and ace) in them. My diasomnia bias aside, I don’t think the other characters get enough spotlight. When was the last time Ruggie was in an event? Cater? Riddle? Jack? Kalim? Rook? Deuce? I know octa make them money but still, give the others more spotlight? I don’t count the beach or Halloween event either. Because Halloween, half the cast is in it and beach event was similar. Even New years I don’t count, because eventually, we will get them all in new years outfit. The usually four character events is what I’m speaking of because that’s when you get proper screen time and development for each character. I can literally go on lolol
I don’t know why this would be unpopular but it seems it might be? But I don’t hate RSA. They have a lot of potential story telling wise and their side of things. And I know there’s biasness with NRC and we wanting them to win, but I feel there’s more to RSA than we know. Like how we shouldn’t judge villains, we shouldn’t judge the “heroes” either.
Jp schedule wise I don’t think they are too slow as many believe. I think for the working female class, which the game is aimed at, the scheduling is perfect since it was made for them after all. It gives them time for daily life and twst gaming. Doesn’t mean I don’t get impatient either lolol
On the other spectrum, EN is going too quick. With events and main story. Slow down. What are you trying to accomplish except burn out your fanbase?
I don’t want an anime. We will get one. There’s a high chance and I’ll watch it obviously. But I honestly don’t care for one. The issues that an anime will bring…is a lot.
I don’t think the gameplay is boring. As mentioned before, the game was made for the female working class. So the gameplay is to the point, and depending on the event, can be challenging. But grinding wise and all that? It’s pretty working class friendly. If I didn’t have the auto lessons and battles, I wouldn’t be playing it. It’s because of those mechanics that I am. Thats what stops me from playing many mobile games. The constant forced to play and keep track. Hence part of why I’m not into Hoyoverse games.
I don’t really care for “this place in twst = this place in IRL.” to me, it’s a game in a fantasy world. Is it interesting to see some of the influences? Yes, of course. But that’s it. I’m playing this game for the fantasy setting, the magic, the story, and the characters. I don’t really care to add, realism, I guess you could say? (I’m trying to escape reality okay? Why would I want it in my games?? 🤣🤣)
I wish we had more magic in my magic world. And I think it mainly applies for book 7 for me personally and how “wow, tech is going to beat malleus and save the day” but I kind of wish that isn’t the case. Yes, it makes for fun story telling and memes. But, for a magic based dorm, I want a magic based solution. That and the fact, I don’t care for the implication how magic is slowly being taken over by technology. Kind of hits close to home you know?? With all the AI shenanigans.
I hope two certain popular theories aren’t true and I’ll leave it there. My personally thoughts on them is, I hope it’s not that predictable and I had hoped for a different route for such characters/events.
I’ll stop there before I make a whole essay for you to read lmao 🤣🤣 I have more thoughts that I could share but this is already so long 😆
I don’t know if this was a “unpopular opinion” or more me rambling but I’ll let you decide that Violet 🙏💞☺️
What about you? What are some of your thoughts?
Would love to hear other’s opinions as well ☺️🌺

Responding to this
Well, I have no idea how unpopular these are, but here are mine.
To state it up front, none of these things I’m going to mention are bad or flaws; they’re just things that bother me personally. If you’re not mature enough to understand that, please move along.
Notes:
*Twst Spoilers for multiple entries in the series
*Some Twst Critical
*Grammarly’s being a dick so I’m trying a new grammar helper. Proceed with caution.
Trigger warning:
*Mentions human trafficking.
Okay, so let’s just randomly jump into it.
*I think Chapter 2 is the worst chapter so far.
I think it's one of the dullest, and, if I understand it correctly, Leona’s plan doesn’t make sense.
The plan was to stampede Malleus to injure him, right?
1: Would that actually work against someone who can a) fly, b) teleport, or c) has super strength and therefore could just knock down anyone that rammed him? And more.
Also, if on the SLIM chance he was injured, the whole game would be canceled due to an international incident as the Prince of Briar Valley was flattened like a Looney Tune character.
And let's assume the plan was to take out the other Dia-players. Malleus is so OP that he can just grab random members from his dorm and win the game himself, so that plan fails.
And didn’t Leona want to win again, Malleus? That’s why he refused to let Crowley remove him from the game! Why try to remove him himself?
If Leona’s thing was that he wanted to win against Malleus, have it that he was going to cheat, but Heartslabyul stopped him with Jack’s help. Or have it that Leona was subtly poisoning Malleus or that he was using potions to amp up his team. Something along those lines! And speaking of Riddle vs. Leona:
*I don’t think it should have been Heartslabyul against Savanaclaw. I see what they were trying to do; it’s law against the lawless with the “law” hunting down the "criminals,” but it wasn’t done very well, and we never see the ideals go toe-to-toe. Having Scarbia in the Pomeire chapter was also a waste, as Jamil and Kalim don’t really do anything. You could replace them with other characters, and the story would mostly be the same. I’d rather see Riddle vs. Azul and Savanaclaw vs. Vil. (I have another post where I’ll talk more about it.)
*Octaville should have suffered just a bit more at the end of their arc. I like these boys; they’re in my top ten, in fact, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think they got off too easily. Keep in mind that they manipulated and enslaved students and physically abused their dorm mates.
Yet despite everything, they barely got a slap on the wrist, only losing the contracts and Ramshackle before they were completely forgiven for everything. Even something like community work around the school would have sufficed. But I guess you can say that’s in line with the tone of the story, and I can live with it as everyone was able to walk it off in the end. And at least Azul did lose something he valued as a sort of compensation for everything, unlike Fellow and Gidel.
Yeah, while we’re on the subject, Fellow and Gidel deserved a hell of a lot worse. Again, I like them as characters and enjoy them as being an actual threat to the main characters. But they were kidnappers and HUMAN TRAFFICKERS. Believe it or not, with characters, I let a lot slide, but letting human traffickers get off without any karmic punishment will always bother me. Ace and the others should have kicked their asses. “Even Gidel? But he’s just a mute child!” True, but he’s still a human trafficker and therefore should have received punishment. I sympathize with their circumstances, but human trafficking is still human trafficking. And before anyone says, “Well, that’s keeping in tone with the story,” no, it’s not.
For this event, the stakes and tone were raised. How? Simple; there were lasting effects from their actions.
With every other antagonist—even Rollo and Azul—once they were defeated, everything was “okay.” People were sore but could go on with their lives, no problem. Not in this case. In this instance, all the people who were tricked and kidnapped are still dolls trapped in their minds. Just because we didn’t see them doesn’t mean their lives mattered less than those of the main characters.
“But it’s not in characters for the protagonist—who are twisted from villains—to care about stuff like that.” And sadly, you’re right. (Though I think Jade and Floyd would have tried to get revenge, as they’re that vindictive.) Doesn’t mean that it doesn’t rub me the wrong way. Plus, all that buildup, and we get nothing for the climax—what the hell twst?!
Story-wise, I hate Playful Land events ending for not delevering on the buildup. And I hate it personally for letting the human traffickers not face any consequences. At least, as a middle ground, I wish the story could have treated the two getting away scott-free as an unfortunate downside instead of an upbeat thing at the end.
*I don’t like Kalim x Jamil, nor am I too crazy about Yuu x Malleus.
While I want them to be friends, I really dislike the two as a couple for several reasons that I won’t bother to list here. Let’s just sum it up and say that it’s not my cup of tea.
As for Malleus and Yuu, while they have sweet moments, I don’t feel anything for them as a pair. And outside of Canon, it’s basically an Oc/X Canon, so my feelings vary depending on the different Yuus.
That being said, I understand why both of these are popular ships, as they possess a lot of tropes that fans just eat up. (And Yuu is a self-insert for people to have their own fun with Malleus.) However, those same tropes don’t appeal to me, hence why it’s on the list.
*While I think Malleus is cute, I get a bit tired seeing him everywhere. (It’s like the Frozen effect.) I also think he’s a bit overrated.
*While we’re talking about Malleus, I hate that he’s overpowered. I know that’s the point of his character, but I still dislike this trope with passion.
And I really hate that TWST seems to be presenting that the only option to defeat Malleus and save everyone in Chapter 7 is to basically beg him to snap out of it.
I believe that having a violent option available—like having the #1 mage in the world threaten to kill Malleus—would be stronger for the story.
For starters, it gives a personal stake for Silver and Sebek as they’re at risk of losing someone they love, and it makes the fact that they’ll choose the peaceful option all the more meaningful, especially in what we learn in Chapter 7, where their ancestors chose violence over peace.
Oh, and speaking of which:
*I wish they introduced more of the gray morals in Lilia’s dream instead of just ripping off Pocahontas’ plot and making the fae the woobie race. The reason is that in vignettes, Lilia’s usually talking about how it was misunderstandings on both sides that caused war, which is why he worked so hard to instill understanding in Malleus and Silver and tries to do the same with Sebek. By playing the humans are bastards trope, it underplays what he was saying. (And yes, I get they were taking influence from the live-action Maleficent movie, but still.) It would have added so much more value to everything if the fae were just as bad as the humans or if there was a genuine misunderstanding on both sides. And, again, it would make the ending, where they stop Malleus through peaceful methods, all the stronger.
And now on to the little stuff:
*I think the rating should be higher. I feel that if the story was rated teen at least instead of 10+, we might have gotten a bit more meat in the story, which is what most people want when they hear that a story is about characters inspired by villains.
*The shaft/shift land outfits are ugly outside of Vil’s. The hairstyles are pretty, but the rest
*I’m a bit disappointed with Silver’s Masqurade outfit. I like the mask, hair, and cape, but the rest does nothing for me.
*I like the idea that Lilia had an unrequited puppy love for Malenore that he grew out of and became the more powerful familial love over the idea of him being a poly with her and Leven.
*I hate the idea of Crowley being Leven. Crowley’s great being Crowley; he doesn’t need to be Malleus’ daddy.
*I like that Silver and the KotD are almost exact lookalikes. The only thing I’d like to change is the color palette.
And that’s it for now. We’ll see how long I survive the twst fandom after I post this. If anyone else has unpopular twst thoughts, feel free to share!

Thinking more on this Lilia would be VERY good at dealing with "mean girls" especially the White Lotuses as Lilia grew up around snooty nobles who likely bullied him for his status as a bat fae and witness then try to bring down Malenore. After that, high schoolers would be a walk in the park.
Something I like playing within a Female Silver AU is the way Lilia is both protective and not at the same time. He isn't protective of her in combat because he knows that’s more than capable of handling herself. (He made sure of that.) However, he is protective of her in social circumstances simply because he raised her too honestly. Aside from boys with not-so-pure intentions approaching her, some catty girls would bully her mean-girl (original) or Rule of Rose style because they would be jealous of her closeness to Malleus—whom I imagine has a Yuki-Sohma style fan club—and Lilia. These are circumstances he never thought to prepare her for. Therefore, while Lilia wouldn't be overprotective, he would be careful to watch the situation. I love the idea of him revealing his own “mean-girl” side when the girl bullies go too far. As for the boys, they get the same warning Rook did, only with a cliever.
