The Vampire Woman - 20

Read The Vampire Woman on AO3 here!
Kara looks just about ready to collapse and Lena is worried. She hasn’t answered her question on what she was doing trying to drink the few drops of blood left in the blood bag Lena just devoured and she’s just silently swaying where she stands, her hands reaching out behind her to find the top of the island so she can lean against it.
“Kara, what’s going on? Are you ok?” Lena’s voice softens from the previous harsh tone, her shock and anger being pushed aside by her worry. “Kara, you don’t look so good.”
Her eyes are unfocused and she’s sweating. A literal bead of sweat drips down the side of her face for Lena’s eyes to track the path of, afraid to even touch her because she looks so delicate.
Kara backs up even further until her spine is pressed firmly to the counter and at that point, Lena moves one of the stools closer to her and directs her to take a seat. “Kara, come on, sit down.”
There’s no hesitation, Kara does as she’s told, albeit very slowly, so slowly that Lena only worries more. “I just want to help you, Kara. You can’t drink blood, that’s what vampires…do.” Lena pauses partway through her sentence, coming to the realisation that just because Kara is still mostly human, she still has vampire tendencies too, meaning that she likely has to drink blood along with eating food, she has to fuel both sets of her DNA and that’s probably why she’s ill now, she’s only been feeding her human half.
There’s no real reaction to anything she’s saying because from the look of things, Kara is struggling just to keep her eyes open, the fatigue too much for her. Lena stays close to her side, careful to not take her eyes off Kara just in case she slips and falls.
If she’s right about Kara needing blood to feed her vampire side then she needs to get her some but it’s strange. Kara has been eating normally for a human and hasn’t shown any signs of aggression or violence the way Lena does when she’s starving, she’s got no outward desire to hunt and that’s something she needs to delve deeper into with Kara. For now though, they need to get to her lab so they can test Kara, they can’t just have her drinking blood if it turns out she’s wrong, they need to test her cells against blood deprived cells of a vampire. The only problem with that is the fact that she can’t test herself because she’s just had a blood bag so she’s got to call in a favour or two.
“Let’s get you somewhere comfier, huh?” Lena carefully wraps her arms around Kara’s waist, nervous about getting too close for comfort but seeing that it’s necessary for Kara’s safety. “The couch looks good, let’s go over there.”
Kara is malleable and easy to encourage movement in but it has downsides, Lena has to keep a tight grip on her waist to keep her legs from crumpling beneath her and she has to plan out each and every step because Kara’s feet are barely moving forward and when they do, it’s at an unreliable pace and it makes it impossible for Lena to judge where they will land each time so she has to be extra vigilant to make sure she doesn’t step on them.
Kara isn’t much help but Lena at least has the clarity to understand that she isn’t doing it on purpose, she’s become weak and her health has taken a rapid decline that she can’t control. The rate of the decline is what scares Lena the most though. She watched the footage of Kara coming into the apartment and waving to the camera, she seemed fine, but then she goes to sleep and then she is somehow this bad. She needs to figure out how to help her safely and quickly.
She drops Kara onto the couch, helping her lie down with her head resting on a cushion, propped up the slightest bit. She then covers her with a blanket and goes to fetch Kara some water. Kara’s eyes are barely open when she gets back to her just moments later and she has to gently cradle the back of her head to help her drink the water, something Kara eagerly does, her throat dry and uncomfortable, scratchy even.
“That’s it, just take it slow.” Lena encourages her to drink as much as she can. “I’m going to call your sister for you, ok?”
“Ok.” Kara mumbles. “Lena, I don’t feel good.”
“I can’t imagine you do.”
Lena tucks the blanket tighter around Kara before she stands so she can call Alex. The phone call is quick, an urgency to her words stopping Alex from prolonging it in favour of heading right over to get to Kara. Lena calls Jess too, it’s becoming quite apparent that Jess and Kara have become good friends and she’d probably be yelled at for a week straight if she didn’t let her know what’s going on.
As soon as the calls have been made, Lena is sitting at Kara’s side, perched on the floor beside her, testing her temperature with a cool hand and watching her chest rise and fall with steady breaths, the only thing keeping her from becoming too worried. If her breathing changes, she might just end up having a panic attack or two though because it’s the only tangible thing keeping her sane.
It’s strange, Lena acknowledges, how this is one of the only times since she turned that she’s actually felt emotions this strong, this kind of fear.
She’s spent so long being shut off from the world, only developing surface relations, careful to never give too much away and always on the outside that now she’s unwittingly found herself in a situation that is the polar opposite of that, she feels completely out of her depth and she’s forced to reach out for help where she’s never had to do that before, she’s always been able to solve her own issues but now she’s realizing that she doesn’t have to take everything on alone. The only person she’s ever relied on is Jess and that was only ever trivial things so this is a whole new ball game and she’s finding that while it’s frightening, she doesn’t mind playing too much.
At the very least, Kara seems to be aware of her presence, her head tilted towards her and her lips making shapes of words she doesn’t have the energy to mutter. Lena watches, attempting the make sense of it and wishing that over the past few centuries, she had devoted time to learning how to lip read.
“Don’t try to talk, Kara. Just save your energy, you’re going to need it.” Lena mutters to her, debating whether or not to get her another blanket.
She doesn’t get her another blanket, she does stay beside her until Alex and Jess arrive though, not standing from her spot until she hears hurried knocking from the door and even then, she leads both Alex and Jess right over to Kara and then places herself back down in the spot that never had the chance to cool.
“Lena, what happened?” Alex chases her down to Kara’s side, her hands immediately cupping Kara’s face.
Lena shrugs. “She was fine when she was at L-Corp and she seemed alright when she got here based on the footage but then she went to sleep and has been like this since.”
“Something must be happening; we have to get her to the lab.”
“That’s not all.” Lena breathes.
Both Jess and Alex look tired, probably because of the never-ending amount of bad shit that keeps happening to them. Jess clears her throat. “What is it?”
“I left my blood bag on the counter when I was done with it, I found her trying to drink the few drops left in the bottom of it. I managed to stop her in time but I’m starting to wonder if this is happening because she’s only been feeding her human side, not her vampire side.”
“How do we figure that out?”
“We have to compare her cells to that of a starving vampire and see if they are similar, if they are then we know she needs to add blood into her diet and if not, then I have no clue how to help her.”
Alex shakes her head, her fingers pressing into Kara’s cheeks like she’s hoping to somehow transfer all of her energy and warmth into her sister to heal her. “So our problems are that it’s daytime so we have to try and figure out how to get you back to L-Corp and we have to find a hungry vampire, if you just ate then it can’t be you.”
“That’s right. I have someone I can call but if they say yes, you can’t be there when they come by because a hungry vampire and two humans are not a good mix. We can’t do anything until nightfall, if my… acquaintance, is willing to make the trip, they won’t come until nightfall anyway, we just have to keep her stable until then but her heartrate is strong, it seems as though the main issue is her energy levels.”
“I can see that.” Alex watches Kara’s eyelids flutter. “Hey, you.”
“Alex?”
“Yeah, it’s me.” Kara wrestles her hand free from beneath the blanket and reaches out towards her sister and Alex meets her halfway, their hands clasping when they meet. Alex tucks the blanket back down where Kara’s movements pushed it away and whispers to her. “We’re going to help you, don’t worry. Lena’s going to call someone and we’re going to get you back to L-Corp and everything will be alright. You just rest, ok?”
Kara has never heard sweeter words. She’s more than happy to just sit and rest while everyone else does the work, she’s desperate for sleep and is ecstatic to go back to the land of the dreamers, even if her sleep is a little restless at times. “Ok.”
Jess feels completely useless, she’s just standing off the side and trying not to get in the way of Alex getting to Kara since she knows that as much as she wants to be beside Kara to make sure she’s alright, Alex is a better fit for the situation, Kara will want Alex.
As Kara settles back down and closes her eyes once more, the three of them back away from her, still watching her out of the corner of their eyes, worried something else will go wrong but not wanting to stand right over her when she’s trying to rest.
Lena takes them into the kitchen where she promptly leaves them to go and make a couple of phone calls she’d really rather not make.
Alex and Jess are just casually pacing around the island, both walking in the same direction in their loop so they never overlap as they try to come up with solutions and reasons for things they have no idea about and that’s how Lena finds them when she gets back.
“I’m not even going to ask. I just made some calls and thanks to the shortage of blood, we’re going to have two hungry vampires over at L-Corp tonight. They are going to head over as soon as it’s safe to do so and we have to make sure that we’re ready for them because they are not too happy to be our test subjects and they have very short fuses so one wrong word and they are gone. We should head over to L-Corp before nightfall and get things sorted and then you two need to head out and lay low because it’s not safe for you there while they are there.”
Alex is not about to let her baby sister, the one that is currently in really bad shape, be alone in a room with several vampires, even if Lena is one of those vampires and she trusts her now. “I’m staying. I’m not leaving her side.”
“Same goes for me. We’re in this together. I’m not leaving.”
“You could get hurt, especially where starving vampires are involved. Like me, they buy blood bags but you saw what happened to me when I was starving, that could very easily happen to them, even if they don’t want that to happen.”
Jess nods. “Alright, so we’ll stay in the safe room off the lab, we’ll be close and you know we’ll be safe.”
Lena blinks. “Oh, that’s not too bad of an idea.”
“I know, I am capable of some intellectual thoughts every now and again.” Jess smiles. “The question now is about how we get to the lab now when it’s light out.”
“That’s simple, I’ll simply get Frank to come here and then I’ll just have to make a break for it and run as fast as I can to the car. It’s not the most dignified method of getting from point A to point B but it will have to do.”
Jess frowns and frowns hard. “That’ll hurt you.”
“Like a bitch.” Lena agrees. “Not as much as it will hurt Kara if we prioritise the wrong things and don’t get her the help she needs. Within a few minutes of being out of the sun, I’ll be right as rain. Even better if I can cover a good portion of my skin on the way out.”
Alex doesn’t know how to nicely portray that while she doesn’t want Lena to be in pain, she’d happily throw her out into the middle of the street on a sunny day if it means that Kara gets help so she keeps her mouth shut, letting Lena and Jess make the plan and standing there witnessing it going down.
Jess manages to convince Lena to cover up really well before running outside, that’s all Alex is taking in, her focus on her sister, whose chest is still rising and falling in a steady rhythm, a good sign if there ever was one.
Lena and Jess don’t push her to talk or even acknowledge the fact that she’s not looking anywhere other than her sister. After a while, she decides to move back to the living room and steadies herself into one of the chairs beside the couch, settling down to sit there for however long she needs to be there.
She doesn’t move when Lena and Jess start planning out the tests they need to do and she doesn’t move through two offered cups of coffee, both of which she declines so she can avoid as many bathroom breaks as she possibly can.
“Hey.” Lena walks around the back of her chair and leans close to her ear to mumble. “Frank is going to come by in a couple of hours. We don’t need to go just yet, we’d just be moving Kara to somewhere more uncomfortable when we don’t need to if we go sooner than that. Why don’t you go and get a drink and something to eat and I’ll sit with her in the meantime?”
“I’m good for a while longer,” Alex murmurs back to her.
“I’ll take a drink.” Kara’s sleepy voice cuts through the room, silencing all of them as they lean in closer to her groggy form.
Alex is out of the chair on her knees at Kara’s side in two seconds flat and gently stroking her cheek. “Kara, open your eyes for me.”
They all see the struggle that overtakes Kara as she tries her best but she does manage it, her eyes sensitive to the light until she blinks away the discomfort.
“Good job, now, what do you want to drink? Tea? Coffee? Water?” Alex offers despite not knowing what Lena actually has in her apartment, she’ll head to any store Kara wants as long as it means she’s being cared for. Her sister is the most important person in her life and she’ll do anything for her, even if she does enjoy lightly bullying her from time to time, certainly not when she’s in bad shape though, only when she’s having a good day that Alex can ruin because it’s against sibling code to let her sister have a good day if she can help it.
“Throat hurts.” Kara whimpers in lieu of deciding.
“I have some honey tea that might help with that.” Lena offers but she knows it won’t help. Her own throat gets dry and scratchy when she hasn’t had blood in a while. She’s not sure exactly how it works but she knows that with each new bit of information she’s learning about Kara, it looks like they are going to have to adapt her diet and not for the better.
Alex answers for Kara. “That sounds good, get her that.”
Lena is halfway to the kitchen when another sound brings them all to silence, this one being Kara’s stomach rumbling.
“Get her something to eat too,” Alex demands.
“I don’t want—” Kara goes to argue.
“You’re sick and you’re weak. I’ll force-feed you if I have to so it’s better if you just eat whatever we put in front of you and say thank you like the well-mannered woman mom raised you to be.”
“She clearly didn’t raise you to be well-mannered, meanie.” Kara croaks, forcing her tired limbs to help her sit up, something Alex realizes she’s got to help with after just a moment.
Alex shuffles her into place, stacking cushions around her to keep her upright. “Shut up, you. Let’s just focus on getting you better.”
Kara doesn’t fight her. She’s still exhausted, her body longing for rest she knows she doesn’t need since she’s been asleep for so long already and she’s desperately thirsty. Just waiting for Lena feels like waiting a lifetime.
Alex has a tight grip on her hand, one bordering on painful as her fingernails dig into her skin without her realizing and Kara’s not pointing it out because it’s the perfect distraction for her, exactly what she needs to take her mind off of the several horrible feelings circling around her body at the minute, very few of them easily identifiable because her body is a mixture of achy and numb.
Lena finishes the tea first whilst leaving Jess in the kitchen working on getting her something to eat, some tinned soup and some sandwiches from the looks of things.
“Here, it’s hot so take it slow. I brought you more water too in the meantime.”
“Thanks.” Kara forces out, happily taking the water, her hand shaking as she does so, making it a hard task getting the glass to her mouth. Taking notice of that fact, Lena gently covers Kara’s hand and helps to guide it to her mouth.
Kara’s cheeks flush, not liking how weak she is and terrified too because it was just yesterday she was being passive-aggressive towards Frank and having no issues packing her things up and now she’s lying on the couch barely able to so much as take a drink without help.
Jess speed-walks over with the tray of food, her steps hurried but her hands steady as she makes a conscious effort not to spill anything anywhere. “Here we go, try to eat something, Kara. It’s not pizza but it should make you feel a little bit better.”
Kara forces her lips up into a smile, appreciating the call back to when she was being annoying and purposefully asked for pizza after she donated her blood to Lena. “Thanks, Jess.”
“You’re welcome.” Jess places the tray on Kara’s lap, Alex helping to keep it steady when it lands, and then tucks a strand of Kara’s hair back behind her ear. “I’ll go find you a hair tie so you don’t get soup in your hair.”
“In the bathroom, I have some in a dish beside the mirror, they are easy to spot.” Lena directs her, not bothering with any further instructions because Jess has been here so many times picking things up for her that she knows the layout well, maybe even better than Lena herself.
Alex and Lena aren’t letting Kara take a moment before they are practically throwing the sandwiches at her, Alex literally lifting one of them up to her lips for her before Kara snatches it out of her hand and she takes a small bite to placate them. She chews slowly and swallows harshly, struggling to get it down her sore throat but once she does, she’s suddenly all too aware of how hungry she was and instantly takes another bite, one that’s much bigger this time.
She talks around her half-chewed bite. “Are you two just going to stare at me while I’m eating?”
“Probably.” Alex deadpans and then recoils when Kara opens her mouth and lets her take a good look at the mush in her mouth, a truly revolting sight. “You’re gross.”
Kara nods, agreeing and shoves more of the sandwich into her mouth, before dropping the rest of it onto the plate so she can go for the soup next.
There’s mild amusement and a whole bunch of relief in Alex’s eyes at the sight of Kara digging into the food so ravenously and it soothes her nerves enough that she moves from where she was kneeling to head for a chair, Lena doing the same with the other chair.
Jess marches back in, hair tie perched between a finger and thumb triumphantly. “I got one…oh, you’re really going at that.” She looks slightly horrified at the speed at which Kara is consuming the food. “Do I need to make more sandwiches?”
“Yes please.” It comes out muffled but Jess definitely gets the message and heads for the kitchen, handing Kara the hair tie before she goes, which Kara just slips onto her wrist and promptly ignores the existence of.
-
Somehow, they have all been sitting around for going on a half hour and Kara hasn’t slowed her intake of food at all. It’s worrying in a totally different way than before.
“Kara, are you full yet?” Alex asks, tired of seeing Kara stuffing her face with the third set of sandwiches Jess has made her.
Kara shakes her head. “No, I’m starving.”
Lena presses her lips together nervously. “How’s your throat? Any better?”
“A little.” Kara shrugs. “I’m not as tired now though.”
“That’s good. Do you think you’ll be able to walk down to the car?”
“Yeah, probably. It helps there’s an elevator, I probably couldn’t manage the stairs right now, my legs feel a little bit like jelly but I’m feeling much better for having something to eat.”
“Interesting.” Lena tilts her head, watching Kara even more closely.
Kara’s eyebrows scrunch. “What’s interesting?”
“You. Your human appetite and your vampire appetite are linked somewhat, I can tell. You’re managing to quench your vampire thirst for blood by eating so much food but not to the extent of fully regaining your strength. That’s on top of how long it has taken you to actually have an appetite for blood. It’s taken you a while to get to this point but it came on fast, your body doesn’t give you the same warnings it does to full vampires.”
“So this is a weird hybrid thing?”
Lena finds herself nodding slowly. “It looks like it. I obviously can’t confirm anything just yet, not until we’ve got you in for some tests but it’s looking like it’s something we can probably figure out a way to get a handle on your body’s reactions and how to prevent situations like this in the future.”
“Do you think I’ll need to drink blood?”
Lena hesitates. Drinking blood isn’t something she wants Kara to have to do but it’s looking like there aren’t going to be any other options. “I think so but we’ll see what happens with the test results.”
“Right.” Kara eats her feelings away with another bite of her food, continuing to shovel it into her mouth and chewing away, her stomach feeling dreadfully empty even though she knows she’s eating a lot.
The three women looking after her take it in turns grabbing her more food every now and again, all of them completely astonished by the vast amount she’s managing to put away and only refuse when they know they have to start getting ready to leave for L-Corp.
Lena is escorted to her bedroom by Jess, who rifles through her closet to try and find her some clothes that will cover up as much of her skin as possible to try and reduce the pain she’s going to be in making a run for the car.
Jess hands her several layers of clothes and Lena just takes them with an eye roll. She knows she’s not wearing all of these, there are way too many and she’ll only be out there for a few seconds so she’ll probably be fine. Most likely. It’s a high possibility. Like fifty-fifty chance. Alright, she’ll wear the clothes.
“Thank you for the help, Jess.”
“Not at all. I’m going to make sure you’re in the best condition possible by the time we get you across town. Shall I check with Frank and see where he is?”
“Yes please, I’ll start getting changed into every item of clothes in my closet, I guess.”
“Please do.”
Alex is working on getting Kara ready in the meantime, helping her into her room and then sitting her on the bed so she can slowly manoeuvre herself into fresh sweatpants, her back turned but staying in the room in case Kara manages to get herself into a pickle. “You good?”
“I’m good. Almost done. Can you take me to brush my teeth after?”
Alex answers. “Yeah, I’ll grab you a stool from the kitchen so you can sit while you brush them.”
Kara expects her to just go and get it but she doesn’t move and it becomes obvious that Alex is waiting for her to finish first so she’s not left in a dangerous situation, if getting dressed counts as a dangerous situation, that is.
“Done.”
Alex turns, checking on her and then nodding when she’s certain Kara hasn’t managed to choke herself out with her pants or something. She takes a couple of strides towards her before planting her palm in the middle of Kara’s chest, shoving her until she falls back on the bed in more of a lying position, her legs dangling off the edge.
“Oof.”
“Stay there and relax, I’ll be back in a minute.”
“Relax? You just assaulted me.”
“Dramatic.” Alex tuts, striding away.
-
Lena holds Kara up on one side and Alex on the other, each with their arms wrapped around her waist so that when they walk through the lobby, they just look like they are walking together rather than holding up a woman that walked through there perfectly fine just the day before.
Jess leads the way, checking that Frank is just outside the building as he informed them he would be. The car is waiting for them. Jess has them wait at the door and rushes to get the car door open so Lena can just dive right in.
She heads back over to them and swaps places with Lena, taking Kara’s side and the three of them make their way to the car, Kara being tossed inside with as much care as they can manage given the awkward stoop they have to do to get inside.
Once they are inside, Lena takes a deep breath and goes for it, her strides long and her stubbornness active in full force as she practically leaps into the car, her skin burning from each millisecond she spent in the sun.
She lands on the floor, her hands coming up to touch the burning skin of her face as she cries out. “Fuck!”
“Lena?” Kara goes to lean forward in her seat but can’t because of the seatbelt strapped across her and Alex’s arm holding her back.
Lena writhes for a moment more, her eyes pressed tightly shut and every muscle in her body held tight, the tension making her ache just as much as she’s burning. She keeps her face aimed towards the ground because she can’t bear to see the worried faces she can tell are surrounding her.
It takes several minutes for her to get her breath back. She was only in the sun for a few seconds but it was much longer than she’s spent out there in years. The two seconds she was out there whilst making Kara test her powers before was enough to rattle her so the ten seconds of running to the car were a lot more than she would usually ever allow herself to try and handle.
It seems worse because she knows she’s got to do the same thing again to get out of the car but it won’t be as bad because Frank will pull up right beside the side door of L-Corp and she’ll get inside much faster and have the chance to recover where she’s not in the field of vision of people counting on her.
By the time she’s composed herself, they are over halfway there and at that point, she heaves herself up into one of the spare seats, puts on her seatbelt and stares out of the window so she doesn’t have to look anyone in the eyes.
She might have been the one to offer to do what she did but that doesn’t mean she fully thought through the consequences of her actions. She knew it would hurt but she forgot that she wouldn’t have anywhere to hide when she was handling the pain, that she has to be on show for them to see her in a rare vulnerable moment.
She can feel the eyes of all of the other women on the side of her head but she’s determined not to look, not to see their faces now they have seen how weak she is when she’s exposed to sunlight, her greatest enemy, one she can’t fight.
Lena feels their stares all the way to L-Corp and she knows they see her for her weakness now because the moment the car pulls up, Alex tugs off her coat and holds it in her hands. “I’m going to run with you and try to block some of the light.”
All she manages is a nod. They think she’s weak, she’ll just look weaker if she fights and lets herself be reduced back to the state she was just in, it’s better to let Alex try and shield her. “Ok, get Kara inside first though.”
“Will do.”
Alex and Jess take an arm each, leading Kara just inside the door. Lena surveys Kara’s footsteps, making a mental note that she’s doing a thousand times better than when she had to pretty much drag her across the floor before because she was so weak. It does make her feel a little better in a selfish kind of way that Kara is weaker than her, that she’s worse off in this situation, because it means she’s not the weakest link in the bunch, she’s not the one everyone will pity, Kara has taken that role off her hands, shielding her from the full effects of being someone with a major flaw.
Alex comes back for her just seconds after Lena sees them disappear inside the door, her hands fidgeting with her coat to find the best way to hold it up for her. “Ok, Ms Luthor. Ready to make a break for it?”
“Yep.” Lena clambers to the door and on her way out, rests her palm against Alex’s spine, pushing her forward so they stay together on their sprint. There’s less pain this time because of the cover but there are still several places on her body that are screaming in agony but this time, Lena has the chance to dart around the corner and take the time to breathe without anyone watching her.
Jess and Alex don’t wait for her, they can see Kara once again losing her energy, she’s relying on them a little more with each step she takes and her breathing is getting heavier with the effort she’s putting into walking so they just head right for the lab. Lena can catch up soon enough anyway.
They put her on the bed down there, the one that might as well be reserved for her at this point. “Just relax, Kara,” Jess instructs and immediately starts getting the equipment they need ready, Alex helping where she can too.
Lena joins them not long after and she does so with her façade firmly in place, the one that screams power, so much so that if they didn’t know better, they would assume that she wasn’t just rolling around in pain on the floor of a car.
“Alright, we only have so much time so let’s get what tests we need done ready now and then I can get started right away when our guests of honour arrive.”
Alex looks up from what she’s doing. “Who are these people anyway?”
“Old friends.”

NOTES: this was sent in before I clarified my no child Progenitors rule so I decided to approach it with more Motherly vibes ♡
Tumblr media
mikaela hyakuya
⊹ ִֶָ𓂅 Mikaela isn't too worried at first, but he does spoil you a little and doesn't approve of the idea of you getting out of bed too much
⊹ ִֶָ𓂅 Sometimes he lays with you, gets you the things you need or want occasionally, he very rarely wants to leave your side in case you need him ♡
⊹ ִֶָ𓂅 If he's forced to for some reason or another, he usually tried to get you to sleep first so that you're not left alone and it's like he didn't leave at all
⊹ ִֶָ𓂅 He may sometimes tell you little stories about how it's ok he's taking care of you, the way he used to take care of the orphans, telling some absurd story about them to make your laugh and cheer up
⊹ ִֶָ𓂅 Mika can't get sick so he likes to cuddle with you at times, especially if it's a time you're just not feeling good at all, its good comfort (* ̄︶ ̄)
⊹ ִֶָ𓂅 He tries to make sure you stay hydrated, lots of water even if you don't want food (゚▽゚*)
⊹ ִֶָ𓂅 Generally he is very soft on you though, he has a good enough memory of what it was like to be sick and knows that rest will do you better than smothering you in home remedies
⊹ ִֶָ𓂅 He does try to keep people away though. No visitors. If he wants someone to check on you it'll be him and nobody else
krul tepes
⊹ ִֶָ𓂅 Nobody tell her about Vix VapoRub istg
⊹ ִֶָ𓂅 On the contrary she is very worried. How sick are you? How much energy do you have? Your temperature? When did you eat last? Have you had enough to drink? Describe your symptoms in detail (ノ´∀`*)
⊹ ִֶָ𓂅 Krul probably has a recipe for these things, something she picked up from an old wives tale a long time ago. She's not as good at caring for Humans but like any good Mother figure she's doing her best
⊹ ִֶָ𓂅 She's not with you 24/7 but every so often she comes to check on you, even if you're asleep. She tells you to come get her if you need something, she doesn't want to disturb you with her clambering about ♡
⊹ ִֶָ𓂅 Forget going anywhere she'll tie you down if she must, the one thing she insists on even if you can't eat whatever weird concoction she cooks for you (no matter how technically edible) is rest (* ̄︶ ̄)

Hi this might be a weird one but can you please do the brothers and dateables who have a lactation kink 👉👈🥺 If not that's ok! 😊 thank you
TW: breastfeeding kink/lactation kink, mentions of pregnancy, GN!MC but will also tag as Afab!MC to be safe
---
They both were overjoyed when they found they were expecting a baby. The pregnancy went about with no serious complications, aside from the hormonal and physical changes to MC's body. The swelling of their belly as well as the swelling of their breasts; the latter truly drawing his attention. When the baby was finally born, they took to breastfeeding right away, bonding close with MC in the process. But, he couldn't help but be curious...
Lucifer:
He internally fought with himself on the sudden and strange urge that would overtake him every time he would watch MC breastfeed their baby
He was not jealous of their child; but morbidly curious as to how MC...tasted
It was a strange itch in the back of his head that only grew worse and worse with each day, until it reached a boiling point
One night, after MC had finished feeding the baby, he noticed they were a little frustrated with how full their breasts felt; they would have to pump to relieve the heaviness
Finally giving in to his temptation, he walked over to MC, and offered to 'help them' with their needed relief
Gloved hands cupped their breasts and their nipples began to immediately leak, so he leaned forward and latched on to one, giving it a tentative suck, making MC gasp loudly
His mouth filled with their milk immediately and was hooked; they tasted so creamy and sweet, no wonder their baby would always cry to feed on them
He would often offer his 'services' for their relief when their breasts were too full from that night on, greedily sucking on their nipples til he himself felt sated
Mammon:
He felt like a weirdo; watching how full MC's breasts would get so often and how they would leak through their shirts, making themselves into a sticky mess
He would even have to leave the room when they would feed the baby, because he would get jealous of watching his own child nurse on them
He wanted so badly to taste MC's breast milk; just latch on to a nipple and suck for dear life
The more he thought about it, the weirder he felt; was this normal? Would they think he was gross for wanting to do that?
Eventually the internal dam broke, and he caved, asking MC if it would be alright for him to finally get a taste of their milk
They flushed at the question, but didn't turn him away; if he really was that curious, it wouldn't bother them if he wanted to try it...
He didn't waste a moment, dragging them to bed where he climbed on top of them, lips instantly wrapping around a nipple and giving a hard suck
They had to smack him on the head a few times to get him to go easy since everything was so sensitive on their breast; but he was clearly getting addicted to their taste
Whenever he got the chance afterwards, and especially after they fed their baby, he would greedily latch on to their nipple and suck them dry
Leviathan:
He had seen the kink mentioned in a hentai once; and he royally hated to admit how curious he was about it
He would watch as they fed the baby in front of him, feeling his stomach turn with envy at how he wished to be the one to latch on and drink from them
He would always berate himself for it soon after because he didn't want to take what rightfully belong to his child; but dammit did he still want to try it...
He was curled up with MC one night when the opportunity arose; they had just put the baby to sleep and joined him in hed, when they began to leak through their shirt
The apologized for the mess and said they would go clean up and change, when Levi pinned them down and pulled their shirt up, apologizing for his actions before diving in
They gasped and keened as he worked their nipple with his mouth, trying not to groan at the sweet taste of their milk
It became an almost nightly habit at that point, where Levi would drink what milk they had left after feeding the baby, revelling in the closeness it gave him to MC
Satan:
He understood the creation of milk within the breast was to be sustenance for their baby; food to help nourish their body and mind with needed hormones and also a means for MC and the baby to bond
But he was truly annoyed with how high his curiosity was on what exactly it tasted like
Would it be sweet? Bitter? Watery, creamy? He would groan and bury his face in his hands in embarrassment at where his mind would take these questions
Eventually he gave in to said curiosity and asked MC, when they had put the baby down for a nap, if he could taste them
For scientific purposes of course
He felt bad when he could sense their embarrassment, but was relieved when they nodded in agreement and followed him to the bedroom
He swallowed when nerves suddenly overtook him, something he was not used to feeling; but leaned his head down to gently take a nipple into his mouth
He hummed; a creamy and rather sweet taste hit his tongue, and he couldn't bring himself to stop sucking until MC had to tap his head a few times to bring him back to reality
They made a joke about it being meant for the baby and not him; but he knew they could find a way to share it evenly
Asmodeus:
He was glued to MC's hip whenever they were feeding the baby, just watching in awe at the little life they created
He would usually be the one to burp them and coo at them lovingly as he put them down for their nap, waiting patiently until they fell asleep
Before turning to MC and pulling them into his lap for his turn at their breasts
He didn't deny it at all that he wanted a taste of MC; he even made it apparent during their pregnancy, remarking at how heavy their breasts looked and how he would be happy to help relieve them
He thrilled in the taste of their milk, licking his lips everytime he pulled away to latch on to the other one, sucking greedily until he had his fill
He would never drink them dry though; he knew how long it would take to produce new milk, and he didn't want their baby to go hungry
Beelzebub:
He hadn't really been interested in the taste of breast milk until he accidentally tasted it once
MC had just finished feeding the baby and he took them to burp them, when he noticed a little bit of milk still on their cheek
He used his thumb to wipe it off and out of habit he licked his thumb clean, only for the taste to intrigue him greatly
As soon as the baby was burped and put to sleep, he pulled MC against him, and asked bluntly if he could drink some of their milk to get a better taste of it
They were flustered by the question, but were still topless, so he leaned down and took a nipple into his mouth without much warning
He drank so much that MC had to pull away from him because he needed to leave some for the baby!
He apologized for being rough, but it just tasted so good; he asked MC to promise that he could drink from them more once the baby was full and they had milk left over
Belphegor:
His favorite moments with MC were when he was able to curl up with them and the baby, watching them feed them closely and have his arms wrapped tightly around MC's middle
His chin would rest on their shoulder as he watched, teasing at how the baby had the same appetite as his twin, eating til completely full and then falling asleep like their father
When MC came back from putting the baby in their crib, Belphie pulled them on to his lap, his hands immediately going to their full breasts
He made a remark about how they must still have milk since they were leaking, and leaned forward to give tentative licks at their nipples
Liking the taste, he latched on and gave a deep suck, making MC gasp as he squeezed their breast and drank from them
Now he understood why the baby ate so much; the taste was amazing and he didn't want to stop until he was full
But MC had to pull away and make him stop since they needed to still have milk for the baby to eat later on
He got pouty for a minute, but made them promise that he could drink from them more when he wanted to
Diavolo:
In all honesty, his curiosity with trying MC's breast milk came well before the baby was born
He noticed how their breasts began to swell and grow plump, developing milk within in preparation for feeding the baby as the time got closer
He would find himself wanting to squeeze them to see the milk come out, and his mouth watered at the idea of finally getting to taste it
He finally had the opportunity when cuddled up with MC, and they began to leak through their top, making a sticky mess
Instead of letting them go change, he pulled their chest to his mouth, licking them clean before giving their nipple a hard suck, reveling in how sweet they tasted
When the baby was finally born, he adored watching them feed on MC, his large hand cupping their tiny head as he sat right next to the both of them
But once they had their fill, whatever was left was all his to enjoy
Barbatos:
He was another one who felt guilty for thinking of such things towards MC
Their breast milk was meant for their baby; not for him to fill his belly off of
But the urge and curiosity of it all began to get too great for him to stand, and eventually he caved in his desire
He could see how full MC's breast were, the nipple puffy and in need of suckling; and he was more than happy to oblige
He pulled MC against him as he bent his head down to latch on to an achy nipple, sucking it gently and humming as the milk filled his mouth
They whimpered at the relief but flushed at it being Barbatos to suck on them; he apologized to them for his actions when he pulled away from the first nipple
But immediately latched on to the other one, showing it just as much attention as the first
He drank enough milk to help them feel less heavy, making sure to leave more than enough for the baby of course
He even gave them a small bow in thanks for allowing him to indulge in his desire on them, promising that he would be easier on them the next time he wished to drink from them
Simeon:
Father above, help this angel
Never in his life had he fought temptation as he was fighting it now, watching MC pump milk from their heavy breasts, filling bottles meant for their baby
He desperately wanted to take their nipple in his mouth and suck for all he was worth, and he despised himself for it
He didn't want to make MC uncomfortable with his awkward wants; how low would they think of him for wanting to do something like that?
The milk was meant for the baby...but he genuinely couldn't help but stare...
Apparently MC caught on to this staring, and giggled at him, drawing him out of his daze
He felt like he would jump clean out of his skin when they offered him a taste...was he dreaming right now?
As if his body moved on its own, he knelt in front of them and cupped their breasts, his mouth hungrily latching on to their nipple and giving a hardy suck
He was addicted to the taste immediately, humming in contentment as he drank greedily from them
With their permission, he would latch on to their breast when they were laying in bed together at night, drinking what milk was left of them from the day
Solomon:
He would openly make jokes with MC about how he would suck their breasts dry if they gave him a chance to
He would also make teasing remarks about how he was jealous of their baby getting all of their milk, a silly smirk on his lips as they just rolled their eyes at him
He also had a habit of coming up behind them and cupping their heavy breasts, offering to carry them for them when they were too full
Eventually MC called his bluff one night after they were done feeding the baby, asking if he really did want to drink from them, to go ahead and do so
They had a lot of extra milk built up, so there was plenty for him
Didn't have to tell him twice; he pressed up to them and dove right in, heartily sucking on their nipple and drinking down their milk in gulps
He drank enough to give them relief from the heavy feeling, giving an obvious lick to his lips when he pulled away full
He offered to drink from them again the next time they had too much milk, but only because he wanted to help them relieve the heaviness~
(He definitely enjoyed the taste, and wanted so badly to suckle from them again as soon as he could)

Squad Leader Mom is pregnant!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MASTERLIST
Since all the baby incidents that had happened with you, Levi or the cadets, Levi and you had been thinking about having one of your own, but you never actually talked about it. Then one night, as you were reading before going to bed, Levi sat next to you on the couch ready to have that talk with you.
“Y/N.” Levi called your name seeing that you were not paying any attention to him.
“Hm?”
“I want to have–.” Levi started but then stopped.
“What’s wrong?” you asked worried, putting down your book.
“Remember when the kids were turned into children? We said that we would talk about having a kid. I want to talk about it now.” he told you staring at you. “If you want.” Levi quickly added.
“Oh right.” you said mumbled.
To be honest, since you joined the survey corps – having a baby never was an option for you. For Levi, having a child at all was never an option, but since he met you, he felt like anything could be possible.
“If you don’t want to, it’s fine too.” Levi said.
“I don’t know.” you admitted. “I loved having the cadets around. It was a lot of fun and I loved them as kids. But a new-born is different.” you paused. “I remember my neighbour; they had one and it was constantly crying and screaming. It looked exhausting. Also, what about my job here? I cannot– I… I can’t go on expeditions knowing that our child could become an orphan.”
“I would never let that happen.” Levi assured you, taking your hands. “I know our situation is not ideal, but can you imagine how great it would be to have a tiny version of us running around. I like that thought. That maybe one day, we could finally retire with our own little family.”
“It does sound nice.” you smiled fondly at Levi. “If that makes you happy, then ok.”
“Really? Because I don’t want to pressure you.”
“I’m sure. We’ll figure it out.”
The more you thought about it, the more you were sure about your decision. You had the possibility to give Levi another chance at having his own family and that was what made you certain of your choice. The next few months were spent in bed with Levi. It was intense – Levi was intense which resulted in making the both of you exhausted for trainings and expeditions.
Eight months into trying to get pregnant, yet there was still no baby in sight. Your doctor reassured you and said that getting pregnant is not an easy task.
You get easily sick during winter, so when a week before the expedition you started to feel nauseous, you just shrug it off. Which you instantly regretted the second you felt like passing out in front of a titan outside.
Eren from far away saw you falling from the sky and did not hesitate a second before transforming and running toward you. He caught you in time from hitting the ground and Mikasa from behind killed the titan that was ready to eat you.
“Mom?” Eren tried to wake you up once Mikasa got him out. “Mom, wake up please.” Eren cried.
Every squad were running toward where Eren transformed, not knowing why he did it. Levi and his squad were the first one who arrived.
“Eren!” Levi yelled at the boy but stopped when he saw you in his arms. A million questions were running through Levi’s mind. He could not move – he wanted to see if you were fine, yet his feet would not move toward you. What if he saw a wound, what if you were already dead?
“Captain,” Eren cried, “I– I saw her falling and I came. She’s not waking up!”
“What’s happening here?” Erwin finally arrived. “Levi wha–.” he asked the captain but stopped when he saw you. “Is she d–?”
“NO!” Eren yelled. “She can’t be, I– I caught her.”
“What happened then?” Erwin asked a member of you squad.
“We don’t know. We spotted a few titans, and we were all going to take care of them. Then – squad leader Y/N was just behind us!”
“She is still breathing.” Erwin checked your pulse. “Levi’s going to take her back, and the rest of us will continue the expedition. You can go too.” Erwin told the cadets.
Every other squads were leaving the scene. Erwin slowly approached Levi.
“She’s ok, you can go and take her back.”
“Ok.” Levi breathed.
Levi slowly approached where the cadets where and took you in his arms. Once you were back, Levi rushed you to the infirmary. The cadets were all patiently waiting outside the room. Every one of them was worried, but Eren was even more.
“What if it’s my fault?” Eren said.
“You saved her!” Mikasa protested.
“When I caught her, maybe I squeezed her without noticing?”
“She is fine.” Jean shouted.
Levi was sitting with them, silently. After just a few minutes of waiting, a doctor came out of the room. Everyone stood up hoping for good news.
“Y/N is doing great. She just needs to rest now.”
“Thank you!” Sasha shouted hugging the doctor.
“Is she waking up soon?” Jean asked.
“She should be up in a few hours top. But from now on she should stay here as the pregnancy is already three months in or something.” the doctor said before leaving for his office.
“The pregnancy?” Levi repeated confused.
“Mom’s pregnant?” Jean asked Levi.
“Mom’s pregnant!” they all shouted excited.
“We’re going to have a little brother or sister!” Connie burst excited.
While the cadets were shouting, Levi was still trying to process the news.
“D– Captain!” Jean quickly corrected himself. “Can we go in and see her?”
“She’s still sleeping, I’ll go and find you once she woke up.” Levi said entering the room alone.
Levi was sitting next to you, waiting patiently for you to wake up. An hour or two later, the cadets could not wait any longer and came into your room.
“Please, can we stay?” Sasha begged the captain.
“Fine, but shup your months.”
A few minutes after the kids came in, you finally woke up. Levi was the first to notice it. He quickly stood up and came near you.
“Y/N, are you feeling ok?” Levi asked.
“Water.” you grunted.
“I’ll get you a glass of water!” Armin volunteered.
After drinking the whole glass, you instantly felt better. You asked Levi what happened and when he explained to you that you fainted due to the pregnancy, you started to cry.
“Don’t cry. It is good right? We’re happy about this.” Levi asked.
“It’s happy tears.” You confirmed laughing slightly.
Levi then left to bring some food. The second Levi left, Eren came and hugged you. Then very quickly everyone else joined the hug.
“You scared us to death earlier.” Eren told you.
“I’m sorry I made you worried.”
When Erwin came back, Levi and you were waiting for him in his office.
“Y/N’s pregnant.” Levi announced it to the commander. “Obviously, she won’t be going to the next expeditions, right?”
“What? Congratulation!” Erwin shouted happily. “That’s really great news.”
“Erwin – the expeditions.”
“Right, of course. Y/N, you have to rest from now on.”
“But I can’t do nothing.” you protested. “I’ll get bored.”
“You’re pregnant.” Levi argued. “You just have to take care of you by staying here. Erwin agrees with me.”
“I–. Y/N if you want to go home and rest, you can.” Erwin agreed.
“I don’t. I’ll stay here and work with you on paperwork, I’ll do everything as usual except going on expedition.” you stated firmly.
Levi knew how stubborn you were, so he did not continue to argue. What mattered to him was that you were not going on expedition. After announcing the news to Erwin, Levi and you went to see Hange to tell them the news. The scream Hange uttered was so loud that Moblit came in running.
“What happened?” Moblit asked worried.
“Y/N is pregnant!” Hange shouted.
“Oh! Congratulation!” Moblit hugged you.
The next person to know about it was Mike, then soon enough the entire survey corps knew about it. After a few days, you decided it was time to go and tell your family about it. You proposed to Levi to come with you since he never met them.
“I’m busy.” Levi told you.
“It’ll just be a day.”
Your parents used to live inside of wall rose, but as your father’s business became more and more successful, they moved inside of wall Sina. You had a brother in the military too. You joined at the same time – he was a year older than you – he ended up being first and chose the military police brigade.
The next morning, you and Levi took a carriage to your home. Your parents made you and your brother promise to visit at least once a month, and you both decided to visit the first Sunday of every month – which was today. You knocked on the door and it was your mother who opened the door.
“It has been so long. Ah, and you must be Levi, right?” your mother welcomed you in.
“Yes.” Levi answered.
“Come in.”
“Your brother is not there yet.” your mom told you. “Do you want to drink something?”
“Tea please, black tea. For the both of us.” you told her.
“I feel uncomfortable here.” Levi whispered once your mother was gone.
“Let’s just tell them the news and then we can go.” you reassured him.
Your mother brought back the tea and she sat on the couch in front of where you were. Your father was nowhere to be seen – he was buying groceries at the market – and your brother was probably still sleeping.
“I heard a lot about you Levi.” you mother finally said.
“Levi’s very popular.” you answered seeing that Levi did not know what to say. “He is humanity’s strongest after all.”
“Good, then I know my daughter is safe beside you.”
“Y/N is strong, and she doesn’t need me to protect her.” Levi insisted, “But that does not mean I won’t do anything in my power to protect her of course.”
“That’s good to hear.” your mother smiled gently.
Just when you wanted to continue to talk, the front door opened, and your brother and father came in. You brother hugged you, then went to hug your mother.
“Captain Levi!” your brother burst out. “You have been going out with captain Levi this whole time?” he asked you.
“Yeah, don’t be jealous.”
“It’s an honour to meet you.” (Y/B/N) told the captain, ignoring you.
Levi quickly started to relax around your family, and you were all chatting together, talking about the military and what your day looked like. After a few hours of discussion, you still did not find the right moment to tell them about your pregnancy.
“When are you going to tell them?” Levi whispered to you.
“I don’t know how to, it feels weird.”
“Do you want me to tell them?”
“No, I’ll do it. I can do this.” you cleared your throat loudly to bring their attention to you and stood up. “I came with Levi today because we had something to tell you.”
“Yes?” your mother smiled.
“I am pregnant.” you announced with a big smile.
“Oh, my dear, that is wonderful!” your mother cried happily.
Your family congratulated the two of you and asked a ton of questions about when it happened, and what you planned to do once the baby arrived. After telling them that you were planning on staying at the survey corps after the baby came. You would probably be less involved, but you could not leave your second family. At night, after taking the extra food your mother had prepared, you left.
“Why aren’t you guys sleeping?” you said seeing the cadets at the entrance.
“We were waiting for you.” Armin said.
“Is that food for us?” Sasha asked excited.
“No.” Levi answered. “Y/N is tired, so leave.”
“I’m fine, I’ll take the food to the kitchen and we can eat this together tomorrow.” you told them. “You didn’t have to wait for me, you won’t be able to wake up tomorrow.” you warned them leaving with Levi.
—————
The first few weeks of the pregnancy were going well – you worked in the office with Levi mostly, but you would also help Hange with their paperwork. Being pregnant as a survey corps soldier meant being able to have extra food during meals, being able to skip cleaning duties. You could sleep in late in the morning and no one would say anything to you.
When your baby bump started to show and you could not fit into your pants anywhere, you would go around in either dresses or in Erwin’s pants that you cut so it would not be too long.
When you were seven months pregnant, Levi started to become more and more protective of you. He would not let you carry anything, not even your food tray. He forbad the cadets to come even near you knowing how reckless they were. Only Mikasa and Armin were allowed to come and help you. Which obviously upset the other cadets.
“But dad that’s so unfair! I want to help mom too!” Jean pleaded.
“Fine, Jean you can help.” Levi finally accepted only because Jean called him dad which was one of Levi’s weak spot.
“Me too then!” the others shouted which only made Levi walk away.
When you heard about it, you reassured them that it was ok for them to stay around you. Around that time, you also stopped wearing your shoes since you could not put them on, on your own. You walked around in your slippers all the time.
Nine months into the pregnancy and Levi never let you out of his sight. He would rest in bed with you the whole time.
“What do you want to name our baby?” you asked him one night.
“I don’t know. I didn’t think about it much.”
“I was thinking about naming her after your mother if it was a girl.”
“What?” Levi asked.
“If you don’t want to it’s fine too!” you quickly shrug it off. “It’s just–.”
“I’d like that. It’s a great idea.” Levi cut you, “I just thought… I didn’t think you would like that name.”
“Of course, I do! What if it’s a boy?”
You both brainstormed all the ideas you had before falling asleep.
You were outside with Levi during his training sessions with the cadets with a book. They were all taking a break, so you decided to join them, but when you stood up you felt something weird between your legs.
“Captain! Mom just peed herself!” Eren yelled panicking.
“Her water broke you idiot!” Sasha yelled at Eren.
Levi was definitely panicking like Eren, but he would not show it. You took a carriage with Levi direction your doctor’s house. After a few hours of labour, the baby was still inside of you.
“I can’t do that anymore.” you breathed heavily. “Just take it out!” you yelled, taking Levi hand in yours.
“It’s here, just push one last time.”
You let out a last scream and pushed as hard as you could before you heard cries.
The doctor cleaned then wrapped the baby in a blanket before giving it to Levi.
“Hello.” Levi whispered to his child.
“Is it a girl?” you asked weakly.
“It is.” Levi said looking into your eyes lovingly.
“That’s good.” you smiled when you heard a knock on the door.
“Hello.” Erwin came in with Hange and the cadets behind him. “They insisted on coming with us.”
“We bought you some flowers.” Connie handed you the bouquet.
“My favourite, thank you so much.” you teared up.
“You idiot you made her cry.” Sasha hit Connie behind the head.
“Mikasa’s the one you picked the flowers.” Connie defended himself.
“I love the flowers you guys. I’m just very tired and extra emotional.”
“Do we have a baby brother or sister?” Armin asked.
“You have a sister now.” Levi answered. “This is Kuchel.”
“Can I hold her?” Erwin asked.
“Well,” you started, “you are the godfather, of course you can.”
“Me too.” Hange exclaimed.
“You, maybe later.” Levi stated. “In a year or two, so when you drop her, she would be fine.”
“It happened once when you taught us how to hold babies.” Hange mumbled.
They were all around the new-born while Levi was laying down next to you, your head resting on his shoulder.
“You have the best mother in the world Kuchel, you’re so lucky.” Armin whispered to the baby.
—————
One night, at the boys’ dorm, a few months after Kuchel was born–
“Do you think it’s weird for us to call squad leader Y/N ‘mom’?” Eren asked. “Now that she has her own, real kid, what does that make us?” Eren continued. “We’re just a bunch of cadets again to her.”
“Why are you always thinking so negatively?” Jean sighed.
“They’re not our parents.” Eren stated sadly.
“Can you stop being so pessimistic for a minute?” Armin shouted. “She is the closest mother figure I had since I was a child, so stop this. Plus, it’s not like ever corrects us when we do. So just stop, please.”
You obviously noticed Eren’s attitude changing towards you – you tried to talk to him, but he kept avoiding you. You asked Armin and Mikasa about it and Armin just told you not to worry about it which was not possible.
One night, as Eren was taking a walk on the training grounds, you approached him silently.
“Are you ready to talk now?” you asked him. “And don’t even think about leaving before telling me.”
“I’m fine.” Eren said avoiding your gaze.
“Eren.”
“Squad leader Y/N.”
“Since when do you call me that?” you retorted.
“It is your name.”
“If there is something wrong, you can tell me. I’m always here if you want to talk.”
“You have a kid now; you can’t worry about me– about us.”
“What?” you asked confused. “Why not?”
“Because!” Eren yelled.
“Because what?” you kept your voice calm and low.
“Because you’re not my mother! And I’m not your kid. We’re just a bunch of soldiers.” Eren cried out. “You have a real kid now, there’s no need to play family anymore.”
“Is that what you think? Is that what you all think?” you asked but Eren did not answer, “Eren… I may not be your birth mother and I would never dare to replace yours, but you are family to me. You all are. Seeing you all calling me ‘mom’ is fine, if you see me as a mother figure – it’s fine. Because I see you all as my grown-up children.” you teared up. “And that’s not going to change with Kuchel around.”
“You haven’t been spending as much time with us as you used too.” Eren guessed hesitating.
“I haven’t been sleeping much to be honest. Kuchel is crying a lot at night. That does not mean I forgot about you. Or you guys.” you turned around finding the rest of the cadets hiding behind the pillars.
“We weren’t spying!” Jean said. “We just… happen to be there.”
“I’m sorry.” Eren apologise. “I’m a terr–.”
“You’re not. You’re amazing Eren.” you hugged him which resulted in all the other boys joining the hug.
From the window of Levi office, he could see you guys hugging.
“See Kuchel,” Levi pointed at you while holding his daughter, “They are weirdos.” he sighed. “Your mother loves them though. I find them tolerable. I guess you can see them as your older brothers and sisters. You’ll grow up with a big family which is great. I’m sure you’ll love them as much as your mother do.”
—————
RANDOM FACTS ABOUT YOUR PREGNANCY
Levi would talk to your baby bump when you were asleep.
You would be often seen with vegetables in your hand – always eating them as snacks.
You would cry for absolutely no reason too. The first time it happened, Levi was worried sick. You had dropped your apple on the ground and started to cry. From then on, Levi would just hold you tightly until you stopped crying.
The first time it happened in from of Erwin was when he offered you a new baby blanket. He thought you did not like it, but Levi quickly reassured him that it was fine. “I– I– I looove it!” you sobbed.
The first time it happened in front of the trio – Armin, Eren and Mikasa – it was because Armin kept talking about what he read about baby stuff.
“I will be the best brother ever!” Armin promised with a big smile. “No, why are you crying?”
“This is too much for my heart!” you sobbed. “You are too sweet Armin!” you hugged him.
“I’ll be a good big brother too!” Eren said hugging you.
Mikasa from behind pushed Eren and Armin aside before taking you in her arms.
“You both made her cry, I did not. Obviously, I’m the better sibling here.”
When it happened with Connie, Sasha, and Jean –
Sasha and Connie were walking in front of you and Jean.
“This Sunday is a day off; I’ll probably go and buy something at the market with Connie and Sasha.” Jean told you, “Do you need anything?”
You tried not to let tears fall but it was too adorable for you.
“Mom! Why are you crying? I’m sorry!” Jean panicked.
“What did you do you idiot!” Connie slapped Jean on his shoulder.
“Mom don’t cry, please. Dad’s going to kill me when he’s going to find out.” Jean realised.
At the same time, Levi walked in.
“What’s going on?” Levi asked.
“Nothing!” Jean said hiding your face on his chest.
“Y/N?” Levi said. “Are you ok?” to which you only responded with a thumb up. “Are you crying again?”
“I didn’t do it on purpose!” Jean hesitated, “I’m sorry…”
“It’s fine.” Levi said, “she’s been crying a lot these days due to the pregnancy.”

cooking at 3am /// Osamu x f!Reader
Request: Imagine cooking together with Osamu at 3am because neither of you could sleep (or because ‘Samu got the midnight munchies lol). You don’t have anything specific in mind; you’re just playing around and feeding each other little bits of what you make.
A/N: bruh you said munchies and my mind said [[ h i g h o s a m u ]] sorry this went in a kinda different direction? but still fun 3am cooking project vibes :P
Tag/warnings: fluff, light drug use (weed), you and Atsumu are lowkey Bros™️, Osamu's kinda baby 🤧
Osamu’s not good at smoking.
He doesn’t really know how to inhale—you know, hold it in his lungs so it can soak in or whatever—and when he does, he coughs. Except he tries to repress the coughs. Even if he wants to hide it, he’s always close enough to you that you can feel his chest moving from trying not to cough when he takes a hit.
And also, like every baby smoker, he can’t really tell when it’s kicking in until he’s off the deep end.
“Can you feel it yet?”
“No.”
You shoot Osamu a glance where he’s sitting on the ground in front of the couch, watching a nature documentary on Atsumu’s TV with a glazed-over look on his face. “You sure? Your eyes are super red.”
“I can’t feel it. Give it—“ He holds out his hand and honestly you’re pretty sure he’s had plenty, but it’s Atsumu’s vape so who cares. You hand it over and Osamu holds it up to his mouth and sucks, eyes fluttering closed as the light on the side of the Pax glows yellow.
God, he looks hot when he does that. Something about a hot guy smoking, yeah? Actually, no. Something about your hot boyfriend smoking.
Except 'Samu holds his breath a second too long and you can see the urge to cough hit him… Wait for it, you think to yourself, and a second later he hacks and wheezes the vapor out in a wispy cloud that reflects silver against the semi-dark. You coo in sympathy and pat his back. “Want some water?”
Osamu shakes his head, hand over his mouth to stop the coughing. On the tv, David Attenborough talks about penguin courtship rituals and Atsumu (who’s been draped on the couch next to you for the past few hours) gives a light little sigh in his sleep. You check the time. 3am. Bedtime. Too bad you and 'Samu are both too high to drive home…whoops. Guess you’re spending the night at Atsumu’s place.
Osamu rubs his bloodshot eyes like they’re itchy, which they probably are. “Hey, can we— uhh… Do we have pancakes.”
“Pancakes, babe? You mean the ones you made for breakfast?”
“Yeah, there’s leftovers…I made you extra and you didn’t want them.” He twists around and gives you an incredibly dirty look, like this is something you did on purpose to hurt his feelings. “If you don’t want them I’m going to eat them.”
“Wait, 'Samu—“ But Osamu's already getting up off the floor to wander over to the next room. You debate pausing the show—it’s a really good scene—but you leave it going for Atsumu's sake because you’re pretty sure the narration is the only thing keeping him asleep. He’s kinda drooling on your shoulder and you have to push him off to go follow your boyfriend to the kitchen.
“What is all this stuff? Ugh…” Osamu's pawing through the fridge. There’s a lot of crinkling, plastic sounds—you catch a glimpse inside and all of the shelves are stacked up with plastic bags and styrofoam containers.
You yawn and hop up to sit on the kitchen island. “Takeout? I don’t think he cooks.” Atsumu's going to get a lecture tomorrow for keeping 2-week-old Indian food in his fridge. God knows you heard it way too many times before you and Osamu moved in together. You don’t envy 'Tsumu.
Osamu sits down in front of the fridge, fumbles with a drawer, and pulls out a bag of moldy grapes. “Gross…who lives like this…”
You snicker into your hand.
“I can’t find the pancakes.” 'Samu's pulling the plastic drawers all the way out now, setting them down on the floor as he inspects the contents of the fridge.
“They’re not here.”
“You ate them?”
“No, I— Hey, put those back in,” you tell him helplessly as he shuts the door of the fridge, ignoring all the leftover food he took out. Yeah, half of it was probably off anyway, but Atsumu's gonna be pissed if he wakes up and there’s takeout going bad all over his kitchen floor.
“You threw away my pancakes?” Now the look on Osamu's face is utter betrayal. He stands up off the floor and glares sulkily at you. “I made those for you…”
“I didn’t throw them away, they’re—“ You hold back a laugh and wish you had your phone on you (where did it go?) so you could take a picture. He’s so cute when he smokes. “—they’re at home.”
“At home?”
“Yep, at home. The place where you and me live, remember?”
“Oh.” Osamu pauses, reaches out absently to grab the edge of your sleeve. You’re wearing one of his hoodies. “We’re not at home?”
“Nope. We’re at Atsumu's place,” you tell him through a giggle.
He plays with your sleeve, contemplating. “Why?”
“Because we’re out of weed and he said he’d smoke us out. And we like hanging out with him.”
“Oh. We do?”
“Yes.”
“…’Kay.” It takes Osamu a second to accept this, but then he nods seriously. “(Y/N), I'm hungry.”
“I know. What do you want to eat? You could probably have any of that stuff, I don’t think he’ll miss it.”
'Samu thinks about it for a moment, scanning the array of takeout containers spread out across the kitchen floor. “I want pancakes.”
“The pancakes are at home, remember?”
“Yeah…” Osamu flips over his grip on your sleeve and traces his thumb down the lines in your palm. “I could make some?”
More pancakes? “I don’t think 'Tsumu has eggs, babe. Or flour. Or…baking soda?” You’re not really sure what ingredients go into pancakes. Whatever cooking skills you possessed pre-Osamu have deteriorated significantly since you moved in together and he took over any and all food preparation for your household.
He pouts at this, and his hair is a little messed up, and he’s so pretty that you can’t stand how much you like him in that second. Mine mine mine, something in the back of your brain says. He’s mine.
You reach up and Osamu obediently ducks his head down so you can smooth his hair back into place and fix the bits that are flipping over his part. “Is there anything else you want to eat?”
“Onigiri.”
“Oh…” Well, at least Atsumu probably has rice. “Sure. Ok. That’s your specialty.”
“I want ya to make it for me.”
“What?” You frown and pull your hand out of his. “You know my cooking sucks.”
“No it doesn’t. (Y/N)’s food’s the best.”
“You own an onigiri shop, come on—“
“Please?”
One of his bangs falls back in his eyes and without thinking you reach up to put it in place. “Okay, fine. But you can’t complain about it if it’s not good.”
He smiles and you want to blush. “Yes! I promise.”
So you do it for him. Even though you’re high too. You measure some rice and water into the rice cooker (Osamu has to give you pointers on how much of each to put in) and you scrounge around Atsumu's depressingly bare kitchen for a few sheets of seaweed and some easy fillings. Osamu pulls a stool up to the island counter and rests his chin on his hands so he can watch you with a bleary look of adoration on his face.
It takes you…maybe half an hour to be done? It’s hard to gauge time when you’re high. You and 'Samu both jump when the rice cooker finishes and plays the little rice cooker song, which will remain stuck in your head for the foreseeable future. 'Samu hums it in a loop while you shape the rice into lopsided triangles and wrap the nori around it.
“Here,” you tell him when you set the plate down in front of him. He looks entirely too happy to be eating your mediocre food for someone who literally does this for a living, but who cares.
He picks one, takes a bite, swallows. And blinks.
“What do you think?” you ask in spite of yourself.
“Umm…salty,” Osamu says.
You grab one to try yourself and it’s salty. Like, ocean salty. Yuck. “I told you it would be bad,” you complain, trying to tug the plate away but Osamu grabs it and pulls it back.
“Noooo…it’s good,” he lies, although his face is giving him away. Still, he takes another bite and chews enthusiastically.
“Shut up.” You tug a little harder but Osamu doesn’t let go.
He swallows, pulls a face, and takes another one. “So good. I love it.”
“Shut up. You sound so fake. You’re going to get sick if you eat that.” You keep pulling, but he insists on pretending it’s edible so you admit defeat and help him finish the onigiri off. God, they’re awful. But he keeps eating and so you do too.
When you’re done, your mouth feels dry as fuck and you want to sleep almost as much as you want to drink about a gallon of water. “Is it bedtime yet?” 'Samu asks, wiping his mouth and then rubbing his eyes again.
The clock over the oven says it’s past 4. “Yes. It’s bedtime.”
“Wait—we’re…we’re not at home, right? We’re at 'Tsumu's?”
“Mhm.”
“I prolly drove here…I dunno if I can drive now,” Osamu tells you slowly, like he’s apologizing. “I think I'm kinda high.”
“Oh yeah?” You hold your laugh back and put your hands up on his cheeks. “How do you feel?”
“Dizzy. Blurry? Like…you’re in slow-motion.” His hands come up to layer over yours. “You’re pretty in slow-mo.”
“Prettier than usual?”
Osamu closes his eyes, scrunching them up to think and then looking over your face intently. “Same amount, just slower. So it’s easier to see.”
“That so?” You slip your hands around to drape over his shoulders and get up on your tiptoes to give him a little kiss on the cheek, because he’s earned it. “You know what, I think I'm kinda high too. I think we’re going to have to have a sleepover.”
“On the couch? S’not big enough for us both.”
“You can sleep with 'Tsumu in his bed…or I guess you could sleep on the ground?”
'Samu's mouth twists and his brows draw together. You can practically hear the gears in his mind turning while he considers alternatives. “Can we share the bed?”
“I think Atsumu's gonna want it. It’s his house.”
“But he’s already sleeping.”
True, you can hear Atsumu snoring lightly from the living room underneath David Attenborough’s description of endangered falcons in the Philippine rainforest. You should really wake him up—matter of fact, you should really clean up the kitchen because it’s a huge mess—but 'Samu's already pulling you away. And you’re so sleepy.
“He’s going to be pissed tomorrow,” you tell Osamu through a yawn, but you let him steer you in the direction of Atsumu's bedroom, holding your hand.
“Don’t care…I hate sleeping without you.”
“Yeah,” you say, and you squeeze his hand and he looks back at you like you’re the literal best thing in the entire universe—and you decide you should get him high more often. “Same.”

Obey Me x Male Reader When You Get Sick
Lucifer
He would scold you if you getting sick was the cause of a dumb reason
But if you did get sick without you or him knowing the reason why then he would still scold you
After 4 hours of Lucifer scolding you he would take care of you
He would make you take your medicine
If you’re picky about your medicine and don’t want to take it he would shove the spoon down your throat....only the medicine not the spoon
But if you do take it without complaining (please tell me how people take it without getting disgusted or vomiting) then he that wouldn’t trouble his am much
Overall he would treat you like the king you are
He would attend to all your needs. Want water? He’s already here he even has sparkling water, flavor water and normal water?
Want to read manga? On his way
Want to watch anime? He has Crunchyroll and Funmation
Want an Ash Lynx figure all the way from Tokyo Japan that probably costs a lot of yen? He’s on his way to Japan (ok but like I just want a Ash related item)
He will only give you water and soup but he will let you pick the soup you want
He honestly cares about you a lot and gets worried every time you get sick
He will not care but he will hold you while you both are laying down
The only day he asked Diavolo for a break
He will even ignore Mammon’s antics for you
He will prepare you a nice warm bath with bubbles if you want
He will even help you if you wish him to
If you are throwing up he will leave a garbage can near you
If you have a high fever he will turn a fan on
If you have a sore throat he will make you hot tea
Honestly he’s on if the best people to take care of you when you’re sick
Mammon
He will be too scared to not listen to you I’m fear of his head getting ripped off
He will throw the medicine at you if you are vomiting he’ll even push a trash can your way
If you have a sore throat he will mess up making you tea so he’ll beg to Lucifer to make you tea
He’ll be lazy to even get you some water
He will only cuddle you not caring if he got sick too
Honestly he would only throw you medicine but will cuddle with you for him to relax with you
He will only get you unhealthy snacks and watch TV with you
But he has to decide the movie or else he’ll get bored and talk throughout the whole movie (I hate when people do that)
When he decides which movie he wants you both get comfortable
If you get sleepy he will shake you awake
Honestly he is the worst person to take care of you when you’re sick
He will only cuddle you and shake you awake
The only reason he acts like this because Lucifer has never taught him how to take care of a sick person
He genuinely does get concerned
He shakes you awake because he’s scared you’re not going to wake up
He is always paranoid since he sees sad and scary movies about a sick person dying
He wants you to be safe and healthy at all times
He will literally build you a pillow fort
He will get some board games he bought with your money
He will let you wear his jacket if you don’t cough, sneeze or throw up in it
He will tell you stories about what he did like how he “won” a gamble
The only story you believed is when Lucifer hanged him upside down at the top of RAD
You giggled about the funny stories hoping you got to see Mammon being hanged upside down the top of RAD
You wondered how troublesome Mammon can be well get
You even thought was there ever a time Mammon was serious besides losing Goldie
He can be great at doing fun actives but giving you medicine was mediocre
He honestly preferred you taking your own medicine if you didn’t take it he would whine and complain for you to take it
Levi
He gave you your medicine but then it was you and him watching anime and playing video games
If you played a racing game he might go easy on you
Doesn’t want you to cough on him
He will compare anime characters that’s have died over a sickness to you
“But he died over a sickness!” “What if you do too?!”
You were honestly annoyed and paranoid
He would let you cuddle with his ruri Chan pillow if you don’t cough, sneeze, or vomit on it
He will bring lots of pillows and blankets since his bed is a bathtub
He will have his room all dark if you have a headache
He will even try to clean his room for you (if that isn’t true love idk what is)
He will cuddle with you and stroke you hair
He will watch anime any you want with you
He’ll even watch Banana Fish with you even though that show causes you pain throughout and after you’re done watching it (it’s been two months still not over it)
But he will not let you touch his figures since he cherishes them a lot
He will not let you leave his room unless you have to go to the bathroom
Overall he would be great at taking care of you
But he will let you eat whatever you want
Satan
He would be one of the best people to take care of you
First he sees if it isn’t a some kind of sickness in Devildom that might harm you
When he sees that it isn’t he’s relieved
He will give you your medicine
If you don’t take it he will start getting mad since he’s the Avatar Of Wrath
If you do take the medicine without complaining (unlike complaining) he will be very proud of you
He is very protective of you so he will keep a close eye on you making sure your condition doesn’t get worst
He will read to you books, any book you want like, he will literally have the book there so he doesn’t have to go out and buy it because he’ll have it
Want him to read to you Catcher in Rye he will read it to you
Any manga book he will read it to you
Because he’s got it
He will also bring you food but he would only bring you healthy food
He was scared that your condition might worsened
He will give you a massage if you wanted him to
He will try to be patient with you since he is the Avatar of Wrath
He will stop trying to make Lucifer’s life horrible and only will only take care of you
But literally is the best person to keep you alive while you’re sick
Asmo
He under any circumstance will not go near you
He will literally throw your medicine at you
If he does go close to you he will have what looks like an astronaut suit but pink and with glitter on it
He will literally overreact
He will think you’re a living germ
He will shriek if you threw up in-front of him
He will make get Barbatos come over and take care of you
He will sleep in another room far away from yours
In the end when you get better he will cuddle with you and invite you to a spa
Beel
The poor guy just wanted you to feel better
He did anything you wanted
He brought you as much food you wanted
He tried not to eat it
He will cuddle you and politely ask you if you can take your medicine
If you say no he will get his scary aura and make you drink it
He’s doing this because he wants you to get better
He will not allow any of the brothers except Belphie to come in
He will wrap you in many blankets so you’re not cold
If you feel warm he’ll get as many fans to keep you cool
He will get you so many snacks that they will be a lot of leftovers
He will stop eating the entire fridge just for you
He will not let you out if the room he’ll eg you not to go and if you do he’ll simply give you puppy eyes
He will hold you the entire time he doesn’t care if you get sick
You matter a lot to him you’re his prince and he’ll do anything to make you feel better
Belphie
He will scare you into you taking your medicine
He will cuddle you since he doesn’t care if he gets sick
He’ll get you some food but the rest he’s lazy to do
Like Beel’s he will not let anyone bother you
Only Beel gets to stay
He’s very protective of you and doesn’t want your condition to worsen
He will yell at Lucifer to get you whatever you want
He will wrap you in so many blankets an pillow you will think it’s just a pile of blankets and pillows
He will give you one of his pajamas and hoodies for you to warm
If you’re too hot (not that way but you guys are hot boys) he will open a window and steal a fan from one of the brothers
He will do anything just for you to feel better and get better
Simeon
He would be so gentle with you
If you have a headache/migraine he will give you a head massage, his touch is so gentle almost like a flower petal’s touch
He will keep Luke quiet for you not to get annoyed
He will help Luke make sweets for you
For example like cake or cupcakes/ and if you don’t like sweets he would make you your favorite food
He would get you as many blankets you needed or pillows
He will get you your medicine and a warm towel if you have a headache
He doesn’t care if he gets sick he will hug you if you want/need one
He will not let any of the brothers bother you and will take you to Purgatory Hall since it’s more quieter there
He would do anything for you, he would treat you with respect like he always does
He would wake up in the middle of the night if you ever needed anything
If you couldn’t attend school he would make an extra copy of notes and help you with your assignments and homework so you’re not behind school work
He will hold you close to him if you’d like. He just wants you to feel loved and for you to get better
Solomon
He would be the worst to take care of you at first.
He will try to get you to take a potion he made, but you didn’t trust him
So he decided to just buy you regular medicine (which he had to go to the human world to get you some)
Had Simeon and Luke attend to you while he was out getting you medicine and other things to make you feel better.
He would always say “Are you sure you don’t want me to make you a potion Mc?”
Of course you would decline you didn’t want any side effects to go along with the potion
He would tease you sometimes but not too much to the point you’re annoyed/hurt
Please don’t be too hard on him he mostly just takes medicine and continues to what he was doing
He really does care for you he’s just not used to taking care of another person other than himself.
He would ask Simeon if he could cook you something since he isn’t the best at cooking
He would try his best to make you feel comfortable, he’ll give you more pillows and blankets and if you’re too hot then he would get a fan or open a window
He would prepare you a bath and ask if you needed help
If you said yes he would wash your hair softly and would massage your head. He would be very careful washing your body, he touches you as if you were fragile as glass.
He would even add whatever scent you wanted or nothing special if you wish
If you said no to him helping you he will understand and just help you run the bath while he exits the bathroom and waits patiently for you.
When you’re done or both of you are done, he would ask if you wanted to see a show/movie
If you said yes he would put whatever you like
If you said no he would stay by your side just massaging your hair or not if you don’t want him to
Luke(for Luke you’re like a big brother to him)
He would freak out at first thinking you were dying.
You had to calm him down and just tell him you got sick
But he asked a lot of questions like
“What kind of sickness?”
“Is it deadly?!”
“Will you die?!”
He was very worried since you’re like a big brother to him
He would bake you anything you want
He would ask Simeon for help which Simeon would happily help
He would always ask you every time “Are you feeling better?”
Please don’t yell or snap at him he will cry and get scared of you”
You’re like a big brother to him and the only one who was never mean to him just because of his height and how small he is
He would be scare to hug you though since he doesn’t want to get sick.
But he will be close by you, he will sit in a chair by your bed or on the floor.
He’ll even get board games for you to play with (i don’t even know if there’s board games in Devildom)
He’ll even watch a movie with you it can be scary but he will probably cry.
At night when you’re asleep he will stay by your side and always make sure if you’re doing okay”
When you get better then he will hug you a lot since he couldn’t do that when you were sick”.
“So big brother can you teach me (or help if you don’t know how to cook)cook?
He missed you a lot
I’m very sorry I couldn’t post I have been recently failing and I needed to improve my grades. I hope you enjoyed

Summertime Happiness
(OM) Boys (excluding Simeon, Solomon) x GN!Reader
Synopsis: the beach episode
WC: 3.2k
Note: it’s summer, and I miss the beach. I really want to go so I projected it here. I will say this is a part one bc I plan on writing smut for part two and you get to pick which ending you want. For example, you could pick to spend the night with Diavolo or you could choose Mammon. I’m challenging myself to write for each character so we’ll see how that goes.
“Beach! beach! Beach!” Mammon, Asmo, and Levi were chanting in the back of the car.
“Guys, we’re not even halfway there.” You groaned. They had been like that ever since you got to the human world. They then started squabbling about what to do. Mammon then tried to steal Levi’s tablet. Asmo seemed to ignore them completely.
“This would be our first human world beach! Of course, we’re excited. Just think of all the photos I could post.” Asmo was gleeful, the main person who suggested this trip.
“Well can you guys keep it down. I’ll turn this car around if you don’t!” They shut up, leaving you able to concentrate on the road, “You guys are lucky that Lucifer is in the other car.”
“I didn’t know you could drive MC.” Satan was in the front seat next to you.
“Of course! I’ve been driving since I was 16.”
“I’m sure you could teach Mammon how to drive safer.”
“Oi! Quit insulting me!”
“Honestly, why couldn’t Belphie be in my car. He’d just sleep.” You grumbled under your breath.
“I still don’t understand why Diavolo would want to come here when he has a beach of his own. Besides the beach is stupid.” Satan was now complaining. The choir in the back started up again, and you could feel the headache develop.
Instead of listening to them, you turned the music up to drown out the noise they were making.
That’s when Barbatos gave you a call. You answered it hands free, “hello?”
“MC, it seems the young lord would like to visit the nearest rest stop. He wants to see a human world gift shop.”
“There will be gift shops at the beach!”
“You don’t understand MC! I heard rest stop gift shops offer a wide variety of trinkets that the state offers.” Diavolo sounded too excited for you to say no.
“Also, Beel ran out of food, and we don’t want him to rampage in the car.” Lucifer sounded annoyed, probably because he got put in the back seat since Barbatos was driving.
“I’m hungry…” you could practically hear Beel’s stomach growl from the backseat as well.
“I suppose we need to fill the cars up with gas as well. There should be a rest stop at the next exit.”
“Understood. We’ll follow you to the rest stop of your choice.” Barbatos hung up. The music resumed. Hopefully, they didn’t hear the commotion from the back of your car.
You pulled off the next exit to arrive at a big gas station/truck stop. Parking your car at a pump, the others got out of the car to stretch their legs.
“You guys go ahead and get some snacks or drinks. Make sure to get me one too. The others should show up shortly.”
They walked into the shop thankfully not arguing. Barbatos shortly pulled in at the pump opposite of your car.
They also got out, and Diavolo practically ran to the shop with Beel following behind him.
“Lucifer, please don’t let them get into any trouble. That’s the last thing we need.” He nodded already looking annoyed. Upon inspecting their car, you could see Belphie peacefully sleeping in the back seat.
Barbatos walked over with a map consulting you on the best route to the beach. Their D.D.Ds didn’t have human world GPS, and of course, they didn’t have any human world phones to access it (and you weren’t planning on buying a new phone.) With a pen, you highlighted the route after consulting your GPS. You knew that Barbatos wouldn’t get lost behind you, but it was nice having this assurance.
Barbatos then turned around and excused himself from your discussion, heading towards the gas station shop. You tended to both of the cars, making sure that they were filled up and ready to go.
When you saw all of them come back to the car, Mammon was thrown over Barbatos’s shoulder.
“Put me down!”
“I’m sorry MC, but Mammon will be riding with us now.” You didn’t even want to know. Beel now was in your car, which solved part of the headache that was going on.
Lucifer simply texted you:
Mammon tried to steal
You knew that Mammon was going to be harshly punished in Barbatos’s car which he deserved. The last thing y’all needed was for the cops to come and arrest Mammon.
You noticed how many bags of souvenirs Diavolo was putting in the back of the car. It looked like he swept the store clean of everything. Same with Beel but with food.
“Beel, please make sure to not get food everywhere in my car. My parents would kill me if I ruined their seats.” He nodded and kept chowing down on the bag of chips he got.
Satan just shook his head and handed you a granola bar and a soda. Thankfully someone remembered to get what you asked for.
You all loaded the cars back up and set off once more. This time your car was quieter, and you were so thankful for that on the rest of the way to the beach.
“Finally! We’re here!” Asmo exclaimed when you parked the car at the condo y’all would be spending time at. Barbatos shortly pulled in next to you.
They got out of the car and met up with you, “We’ll need rolling carts for all of our luggage and supplies. They should be in the lobby’s office.”
Lucifer and Barbatos left to go fetch them and check in to the condo for you.
It was surprisingly easy to get all of the suitcases, beach supplies, and coolers up to the room. You made sure to get a big condo so everyone could get their own room (saved yourself the headache of who will be rooming with who.)
“Alright everyone, time to set up the ground rules!” You gathered everyone to the common room, “Make sure you all remember your human world names. Please do not stray too far from the others. We do have the beach for ourselves here, but the public beach isn’t too far from here. Please be careful to not wander that way. We have an itinerary for dinner and free times. Please do try to behave yourselves over the week we are here. Other than that, we’ll have fun!”
They all agreed and left to go unpack their stuff.
“I really hope we can get through this without any trouble. We’re spending too much money being here instead of being in Devildom.”
The sand was nice and warm. The sunlight danced over the waves, making the ocean sparkle. Lucifer and Barbatos already got the umbrellas and beach chairs prepared, so all the rest had to do was get into swimsuits.
Running out to settle down on a chair basking in the sunlight was your first objective.
“MC, you need to apply sunscreen before you sit out in the sun.” Barbatos walked over with the spray on sunscreen.
“Right. I forgot.”
“MC, I can help you put on your sunscreen!” Asmo ran over to you, “Then you can rub it all over my body.”
“Oi! If anyone is going to rub sunscreen on them, it’s going to be me. I’m their first so I have that right!” Mammon was quick to swoop in and grab the bottle out of Asmo’s hand.
“You can’t use that excuse every time. Especially since you’ll never admit how you feel.” Satan was the next one to take the bottle.
“I-I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Oh, you know you’re a simp.” Levi came up to y’all, “O-Of course I will apply sunscreen on you MC. Who am I kidding you’ll never pick me.” You could hear every mumble under Levi’s breath.
“What on earth are you all doing?” It was Lucifer, “they are perfectly capable of putting sunscreen on themselves.”
“But their back! They couldn’t possible read that part,” Asmo flirted, “and I’m the perfect person.”
Lucifer rolled his eyes and took the bottle out of Satan’s hands, “I’ll put on your sunscreen MC”
“No fair! How come you get to do it?” They started to whine. Honestly at this point you didn’t care who put it on you.
“Thank you, Lucifer,” you turned your back towards him so he could apply the lotion on you. Feeling his hand run up and down your skin did feel nice.
The others continued to bitch at Lucifer about it.
“Haha! Your brothers are lively as always.” Diavolo stood next to Lucifer, who only sighed at his comment.
“I’m afraid so.”
Now that everyone was prepared, Mammon, Asmo, Levi, and Beel ran towards the water. Belphie was already asleep on a beach chair. Satan sat next to him with a book in hand. Diavolo was forcing Lucifer to build a sandcastle with him, while Barbatos helped by carrying buckets of ocean water.
A smile grew on your face as you ran towards the ocean yourself with a floaty, finally able to relax and play with everyone there.
When entering the nice warm water, you’re immediately dunked in. Rising back up,
“Mammon! You ass!” You move your hair out of your face.
“It’s ok MC, he did the same to me. He has a death wish,” Asmo looked furious. Every time he’s swim close to Mammon, he would simply swim away.
“Didn’t peg you as a good swimmer.”
“The great Mammon can do many things!” His laughter was infectious, and your anger fizzled out as you see the brothers chasing each other.
“Ugh, what normies.”
“What did you expect to do out here Levi?”
“Well you see I saw in this anime called A Trip to the Beach turns into a romance story and-“
“Forget I asked. I’m surprised that Mammon didn’t dunk you.”
“The water doesn’t scare me.”
“Makes sense. You do kind of control water. I guess this would be the best place to summon Lotan, besides the fact this is a human world beach.”
“Hahaha. I have no plans of doing that. My Ruri-Chan towel and bag would get soaked, and I don’t want that.”
“Right…”
You then heard eating sounds in your ear. Turning around, you see Beel mouth full of fish, “You can’t just eat the marine life here!”
“But I was hungry…”
“Then go to shore and grab some of the food we brought down here!”
Beel took you up on that offer as soon as he finished devouring the fish he caught with his bare hands. You just prayed he left something for the rest of you, lest you have to go back to the condo and get more.
Mammon quickly swam back and hid behind your back, practically using you as a shield.
“Don’t use MC to protect you!” Asmo was coming in hot. You dunked yourself under the water for Asmo to finally catch Mammon and push his head in the water.
Upon both of you returning to the surface, you shook your head to get the salt water out of your ears.
“You pushed too hard Asmo!” Mammon bitched.
“You brought this upon yourself!”
“Can you both shut up? I’m trying to fantasize about Ruri-Chan.”
“Stay out of this otaku!” They both shouted at the same time. Levi clammed up.
Of course, they think I’m some weird gross shut in…”
“Oh Levi, that’s not true. Just let those two idiots fight and dunk each other under water. Let’s go back to shore and hunt for seashells!” He felt better from your words. Grabbing the floatie that seemed to be abandoned (you’re glad it didn’t float away into the sea), you both swam back and went to dry yourselves off.
Beel was devouring all of the food in the coolers you brought.
“Satan! Why didn’t you restrain him?”
“Huh, it’s not my job to keep Beel from eating everything. That’s Belphie’s.” You glanced to see that he was asleep basking in the summer sun.
“Of course.” You turned your attention back to Satan, “why don’t you come with Levi and I to hunt for seashells?”
“No.” It was immediate and caught you off guard, “I’m at the climax of this book, and I’ll do beach stuff when I’m done. Except go into the water.”
“Still don’t get it, but whatever.”
You grabbed the necessary supplies to gather seashells, and you made your way back to the shoreline with Levi by your side.
“Let’s see if we can find one that’s not broken! I’d love to get to a nice cone shaped one” Levi cheered up.
So far, you’ve only found broken sand dollars and pieces of broken corral, “well this isn’t great.”
“Oi! Why you hogging MC all to yourself?” Mammon always knew how to ruin a moment.
“Hey, Mammon~”
“Y-yeah?”
“You want a dollar?”
“Yes! Giving money to me is an investment-“
You simply placed a sand dollar in his hand causing Levi to practically die, howling about how you got him good.
Mammon just stood there looking like he could turn to dust at any moment. You couldn’t help but laugh.
Satisfied with your haul, you and Levi placed the bucket of shells back at the beach chairs.
“Still reading Satan?”
“Yes, and it’s getting good so leave me alone.” You roll your eyes in response. Levi said he would chill with Satan in the shade, something about getting his daily log on bonuses.
Shrugging, you turn on the group you hadn’t visited yet.
“Lucifer! Diavolo! How’s the sandcastle coming?”
“Well…I tried making a sand sculpture of Lucifer, but it doesn’t look anything like him.” Diavolo pouted. Upon looking at the pile of sand, you tried to hold back your laughter. If this was supposed to be Lucifer, then Asmo should really give him a makeover.
“The important thing is you tried Diavolo,” Lucifer tried to hide his annoyance, but of course he was bad at that (he would never admit it though.)
“Maybe we should take a break, my lord.”
“I guess so.” You felt bad and patted Diavolo on the back.
“You’ll get it right the next time you do it. Here why don’t I show you something humans do on the beach!”
Diavolo perked up, and the three of them followed you back to the shaded umbrella where their beach chairs were. You sauntered off and grabbed four bottles of beer and a bag of limes you cut up earlier (thankful that Beel didn’t eat them.)
You handed them the beer as well as a bottle opener, “Ok, so typically on the beach with this brand of beer, you push a lime into the neck of the bottle. It helps add flavor to the drink of the summer here.”
You demonstrated for them, even though Barbatos was a step ahead of you anyway. Diavolo looked at it all with wonder, taking a sip after preparing it, “Fascinating! Is this really what humans do?”
“Some. I like to do it when I go to the beach. It’s nice and relaxing. Plus, the advertising says to do this.”
“I do have to say, it does add a little aromatic flavor. However, I’ll have to decline drinking more than I already have.” Barbatos handed the bottle back to you. Even though you knew he had his reasons, it bummed you out a little.
“Well Lucifer! What do you think?” Diavolo turned towards his friend who was happily drinking his.
“Honestly, I needed some sort of break after being in the sun for so long.”
“Well, I’m glad I was able to help.” Lucifer smiled at your response, praising you about how you’re always a help to everyone.
You sat down next to them on the sand and just took in the calmness of the beach air, the smell of salty sea water filling your nose. It was enjoyable to have one moment of relaxation.
“Hey MC! Belphie’s awake! Help us throw him into the ocean!” You could hear Mammon from the other side of the beach.
“Your brothers are always so exciting, Lucifer,” Diavolo was laughing and was waiting for Lucifer to laugh along with him.
“More like a headache…”
“I’ll go over there so they don’t bother you three. Remember to get the relaxation you need. The three of you work way too hard, you deserve a break. That goes for you to Barbatos! You don’t have to be a butler here.”
He laughed at your comment, “So noted.”
Satisfied, you ran back over to the others.
“If you like to live, you’ll let go of me” Belphie was trying to fight, but with Mammon, Asmo, and Levi together, he didn’t stand a chance.
“Same for you Beel! Put me down so I can finish my book!”
“Nah, you can finish your book later. We’re at the beach. You should have fun with us!” Mammon had a death wish. They managed to pull Belphie and Satan into the water. Belphie at this point had already given up.
Satan, however, was like trying to bathe a cat. Extremely unhappy about it. He screamed profanities and was about to go apeshit, until you were by his side and holding his hand.
“It’s ok Satan. They just want you to have fun.” He huffed in response with a hint of blush developing on his face.
Finally, all of you were in the ocean, splashing water at each other, seeing who could hold their breath the longest, and float around letting the water massage your worries away.
The fun eventually was coming to a close. The sun started to set, and everyone went to pack everything up.
“Hold on!”
They turned to look at you who has a mischievous look on your face, holding up sparklers in their face, “They’re a lot of fun to have on the beach too.”
Everyone was about to decline until, “Ohhhh, that sounds like fun. I’ll do it with you MC.”
Diavolo started to take sparklers from your hand and went to get a lighter.
“Well, I guess I can do it too.” Mammon said.
“It does sound like fun. Plus, I can take all sorts of photos to post when we get back to Devildom.” Asmo ran to be by your side.
“Don’t eat the sparklers Beel,” Belphie said walking over with his twin.
“W-well it’s a normie thing to do, but if MC wants to do it then I will too.” Levi took a sparkler from the packet.
“As long as Lucifer isn’t going to participate then I will too.” Satan said.
“Too bad because Lucifer has to do this too!” Your words sounded very adamant, leaving Satan with no other choice.
Lucifer sighed but then smiled, “As long as your happy MC and Diavolo.”
You squealed in happiness. As you lit the sparklers, everyone waved them around. Asmo took photos of everyone with theirs. Mammon tried writing words (they didn’t look good.) The rest were happy to chase each other with Diavolo and Lucifer standing on the side. Diavolo was mesmerized by the sparks shooting out, and Lucifer couldn’t help but laugh with him.
Barbatos filmed the entire thing for everyone to remember later. One of the best days ever.
After showering, you noticed the night was still young. Everyone was kind of doing their own thing now.
You didn’t want the night to end too soon. Hitting up the town seemed like a good idea.
You sat thinking of who you should bring with you.

That night in Cabo.
Thank you to @beccabarba for reading over this for me. This is a follow on from Broken Flowers that was requested by @ben-c-group-therapy
This is really really soft Miguel, Think the “Lucky Papa” scene in season 1 and in season 2 when he sits on the table with Emily. I adore that soft side of Miguel.
Warnings: none really, just two friends having a good time on holidays drinking etc.
WC: 1299
Enjoy x
Tumblr media
The first two weeks had been sitting in the sun, drinking, eating, swimming, relaxing and working off all the food you had been eating while you had been sitting in the sun. Miguel had given you his undivided attention the whole time, not being on his phone much and always there if you needed to talk, cry or you just needed a hug. You had gone into his room some nights when you couldn’t sleep thinking about what had happened, holding you while you cried, not letting you go even when you fell asleep.
You had found out the second week of the holiday by another friend of yours and Alex’s that his ex-had turned up on his door step the night before the wedding putting doubts in his head and wanting another chance. Although it was a horrible way for him to do it, you got it and you were going to let hell freeze over before you would beg for someone to take you back if it was that easy for doubt to be put in their head. Miguel couldn’t work out why you were taking the news so well and he just nodded when you kissed his forehead and told him you were going for a run and would be back later.
You had both spent most of the day at the beach, deciding to head back to your villa late in the afternoon and get ready for yet another night of hotel food and relaxing in front of the tv, which had been every night of the trip so far. You both walked into the villa, Miguel going to flop down on the coach and you walked into your room to put down your beach bag. You walked to the window looking out it, looking at the beautiful surroundings and you walked back out to the living area to Miguel,
“Let’s go out tonight” Miguel looked over his shoulder at you, an eye brow raised “Mi alma, we are in Cabo, we haven’t been here since spring break senior year. Let’s go to dinner at that seafood place by the beach”
Dinner had been delicious, the conversation was flowing great like it always did, laughs, giggles, mocking, teasing and couple of bottles of wine was just like any other dinner you had together. Miguel looked over at you at one point and watched as you talked to the waiter, his eyes ran over your make up full face, your hair was done in curls and your navy jumpsuit sat beautifully on your sun kissed skin and for the first time in all these years of friendship as he looked at you, he felt his body heat up, warmth filling him and his tummy did flips. He decided to slow down on the wine and he switched to water, putting the feelings down to, to much to drink,
“I’ am glad we came out” you looked back at him after the waiter walked away.
“Me too, its great to see you smile again”
You grinned over at him and reached over grabbing his hand rubbing your thumb over it,
“Thank you so much, Miguel. For everything. I couldn’t have gotten through that day and the last couple of weeks without you. I love you”
“Of course,” Miguel sat up pulling your hand to his lips and kissing it “I wouldn’t be anywhere else. Te quiero”
The night had gotten away from you both and you were in the politest way possible, kicked out of the restaurant at closing time and you were walking along the beach bare foot in the moonlight, talking, laughing and walking on top of each other. As you started to walk near the streets over from the hotel, loud music caught your attention. You stopped grabbing Miguel’s arm stopping him and you listened harder hearing an old 90’s song.  You looked up at Miguel with a big grin,
“Let’s go” He smiled down at you.
You felt like the whole world melted away as you and Miguel danced around to the music in the retro club. Songs you used to sing to when you were younger and songs you had forgotten existed. You had had a couple of shots sitting at a tall top table, a song that you both loved in high school flowed out of the speakers. A big smile pulled to both your faces and you both jumped down off your stools. Miguel grabbed your hands and pulled you into him before you both started to dance and sing along with the song, hand holding and hips moving with each other till the end of it.
The rest of the night had gotten away from you both again, when the last song played and the lights came on, you left walking out laughing and joking with each other. When you got out onto the street you looked down at your feet in your sandal block heels and you could see blisters all over your feet,
“You, ok?” Miguel put his hand on your hip.
“My feet” you whined slightly before Miguel pulled a squeal from you when he scoped you up in his arms carrying you back to the hotel.
When you got back to your room, you pulled the door key out of Miguel’s jacket pocket, you still in his arms. You managed to push the door open without Miguel  dropping you and he walked to sit you on the couch lifting your feet up to his lap peeling your heels off as gently as he could when you started groaning at the sting of blisters on your feet,
“Haven’t partied this hard in a while” Miguel placed your foot down on the floor slowly, his hand running up your leg and then he moved onto the other foot.
“No” you laughed “ and probably wont for a while. We will be paying for it in the morning”
Miguel carried you into bed when you both saw a big blister on the bottom of one of your feet, laying you down on top of the donor and when he went to walk out you asked him to stay, he getting on the bed next to you. It wasn’t long after both your heads hit the pillow that you were both asleep.
You weren’t really sure how long you had been asleep when the sun started to seep through your closed eye lids. Your eyes opened slowly and when they adjusted to what was in front of you, you had never seen anything more clearly in your life. Miguel was asleep facing you, his skin tanner than usual glowing in the sun light of the room, his face looked smooth with no frown lines to be seen, his salt and pepper beard making you smile and for the first time in all these years of friendship as you looked at him, you felt your body heat up, warmth filling you and your tummy did flips.
Miguel was your best friend, had been for years, it was just the effects of the fun night adding to your memory bank, drinking enough to let loose, finally letting your worries go and he being there to catch you. You knew once you got up, had a shower, food and coffee, how you felt would melt away. You rolled over facing the other way when you felt Miguel’s hand going onto your tummy and pulling you into him to spoon you, kissing your cloths shoulder,
“How’s your head?” he muttered.
“For the first time in a long time it’s been the clearest it’s ever been you muttered back putting your hand on his on your tummy and he squeezed you tighter kissing the back of your head,
“Me too”

table for two – a.beauvillier
Tumblr media
a/n: a little fic I threw together that I really love 🥺 it’s not proofread tho
“A forty minute wait?” You tried to hide your disappointment, it had been a terrible day at work, your feet were aching and your stomach was on the verge of growling. “Yes, I’m-“ the hostess stopped herself, she glanced over to the only other single party here, “give me just a moment.” She gave you a smile before rushing off. You sighed dramatically, pulling your phone out. The only reason you were so stuck on eating here is because you had a gift card and didn’t want to cook tonight. You glanced up as the hostess approached you, “we have a table for two available, if you don’t mind sitting with this gentleman.” She explained, motioning to the guy sitting in the corner, he had an optimistic smile on his face. He clearly had a much better day than you, as you were about to turn down the offer, your stomach clenched, reminding you how long it had been since you ate.
“Yes. I’ll sit with him.”
You stayed silent, following them to the table, the guy shot you a soft smile as he sat across from you, he seemed like a nice guy, his eyes showed his genuineness. The bright blue only making them more vibrant, you mirrored his smile, crossing your legs under the table. “So, how are we playing this? Awkward silence while we listen to each other eat, or are you going to tell me your name?” He spoke up as you hid behind your menu, you raised an eyebrow at his forwardness, although you could hear a slight nerve in his tone. “You first.” You laughed softly, lowering the menu to reveal your whole face. “Anthony.” He grinned, the name fit him, his smile wide and bright as he looked over at you, not having even picked up his menu yet. “Y/N.” You spoke, glancing between him and the menu, he chuckled at your obvious desire to eat, not that he could blame you, he’d been waiting for a while before you showed up, and the hostess undoubtedly was trying to play matchmaker, not that he was complaining. “Nice to meet you, Y/N.” He murmured, opening up his menu, he glanced over at you, seeing your eyes darting between two items, “never been here before?” He asked, already settling on his meal. You shook your head, chewing your bottom lip as you weighed your options, chicken or pasta.
“Are we ready to order?” The waiter asked, setting down the drinks you’d ordered when you sat down. Anthony nodded, going first to give you another second to decide. He ordered the exact chicken dish you’d been debating on, “is it good?” You asked him, closing your menu, he nodded instantly. “I’ll have the same, please.” You handed over your menu, watching the guy whisk away. “So, Y/N.” Anthony started, resting his elbows on the table, “are you a nurse?” He asked with a tilt of his head, motioning to the scrubs you were wearing. “Medical assistant.” You answered, looking over at his outfit, “I have no clues, this isn’t fair.” You countered, stifling back a laugh when he looked down at his pants and shirt, he hummed, giving you a smile. “You watch sports?” He asked, you thought he was derailing the conversation, “not really.” You answered truthfully, he nodded in understanding, “I play hockey.” He told you, and you thought he was just being a show off. “Athletic, fun, still doesn’t tell me what you do for a living.” You countered easily, whether it be the way he was so easy to speak to, or the way you were sure to be dying of hunger, the words toppled out before you could stop them.
You felt your face flood with warmth as he tilted his head back in laughter, “hockey.” He spoke, raising an eyebrow, “I play hockey for a living.” He watched your face go from confused to shock, “oh.” You whispered sheepishly, “for who?” You asked, mirroring his earlier actions and resting your elbows on the table. “New York Islanders.” He spoke with ease, glancing over the restaurant, suddenly feeling like he came off as arrogant. “Oh thank god, my family would disown me for talking to a Rangers player.” You quipped, you might not have been much into sports, but growing up in New York, you knew a fair bit about the local teams. Plus your cousins were avid fans. So maybe you knew a bit more than average.
“Thought you weren’t into sports?” He answered instantly, becoming engrossed in the conversation with you. He listened intently to you as you began to ramble about the hockey fans in your family, you hadn’t realized how long you’d been talking until the food showed up. You fell silent abruptly, embarrassed for how much you’d spoken. Anthony gave you a reassuring smile as he began cutting into his chicken. You did the same, brushing your sheepishness aside. Your eyes shut in relief as you ate your first bite, “told you it was good.” He spoke up as he swallowed his food. You giggled softly, looking up at him through your lashes, he smirked to himself as you hid behind some of your loose hairs. He found himself wanting to do this again with you, sit, talk, eat. A classic date if he’d ever seen one, but it wasn’t, you were just a complete stranger that he’d probably never see again.
Your meal had come and gone, and you both settled your checks, about to part ways out in the parking lot, “you know, I might just have to take my cousin up on that extra ticket to the game in a couple weeks.” You blurted out, cursing yourself mentally, he faltered in his steps, “I’ll be looking for you.” He called as he walked to his car, leaving you there to process his words with a flutter in your chest.
Of course, the first thing you did when you got home was look him up on Instagram, boldly following him and wondering about the what if’s.
***
You rushed out the door the next morning, knowing you’d never hear the end of it from your cousin, Ava, if you were late. It was a tradition for you, her and her twin brother to get together once a month for breakfast, something your dad had instilled in you all, and something you made sure to keep up after he passed.
You didn’t even check your phone.
“You’re late!” Aidan shouted, “shut up! I tried my best.” You groaned, tossing your purse down on the counter, your phone half hanging out of it as you went to wash your hands. As you turned the water on you heard Ava scream at the top of her lungs, you went running out as Aidan shrieked in surprise by his sister's actions. “What? Are you ok?” You gasped nearly slipping in your socks, “Y/N.” She gaped at you, she had your phone in her hands, “why did Anthony Beauvillier request to follow you?!” She shouted, Aidan snatched the phone, “oh my god.” He mumbled, unlocking the device, seeing that it really was his account. “He what?” You mumbled, yanking your phone out of his grasp, quickly accepting his request, before facing the millions of questions they had.
It felt like an eternity until they stopped asking you things, “well obviously you’re going to the game with us, and you’re borrowing my Beauvillier jersey.” Ava smirked, you began shaking your head furiously, “no, no, no.” You whined, crossing your arms as they gave you glares. “Yes, yes, yes.” They mocked you, “by the sounds of it, he was clearly flirting with you, how could you pass up on him?” Ava dramatically swooned, “besides, maybe you’ll fall in love and you can get me in with Mat.” She giggled girlishly, “puck bunny.” Aidan muttered jokingly, she turned to him quickly, “I’m not afraid to hit you with my stick again.” He didn’t say anything after that as he shifted away from her.
“I’ll go to the game, but you better not embarrass me.” You mumbled in defeat, only wondering what you just got yourself into.
***
“Stalking her now beau?” Mat joked with his friend, looking over his shoulder as he scrolled through your Instagram, “shut up.” Tito sighed, faltering as he stumbled across one of your beach pictures. “Oh, damn.” Mat whistled teasingly, he shut himself up when his friend glared at him.
***
“Ava.” You snapped, lightly whacking her hands away, “I’m fixing your hair.” She complained, pouting at you, sneakily grabbing your pony tail and tightening it before you could react, “ow!” You snapped nearly falling on the escalator, Aidan chuckled as you scolded her. “It’s not funny.” You both snapped at the same time as you stepped off the escalator, following them to their seats, you all the clueless to how close to the glass you were really going to be. “Woah.” You gasped, Ava grabbing your hand and pulling you a couple rows down to look up close at the glass, Aidan settled into the seats, snapping a few pictures of the two of you looking out in amazement. “There’s Barzal, oh and pageau, you wanna keep your eyes on them. They’re really good right now.” Ava explained, you nodded listening as your eyes darted around, looking for number eighteen. “Have you spoken to him since that night?” Ava asked as they began skating around the ice, pucks flying everywhere. You stayed silent as you suppressed a smile, easily spotting Anthony as he passed a puck back and forth with Mat. “You have!” Ava gasped, shaking your shoulder violently, “so what if I have?” You mumbled, biting your lip when she looked over at you. “You are something else.” She giggled, shrieking softly when Anthony skated up to the glass, a puck in his hand. He motioned for you to catch it, which you did with ease. “Good luck!” You shouted, hugging the puck close to your chest as he grinned, he gave you a quick wave before going back to skating around.
“That was flirting.” Aidan declared as you both settled into your seats beside him, “yeah, it was.” You surprised them by not arguing, you felt your face warm up as they looked over at you in shock.
The game had gone on without a hitch, the islanders winning 4-1. So you did what you’d promised Anthony, Tito as he requested you call him, you sent him your number.
“Good game, you earned this.”
You felt giddy as you sent him your number, knowing by the time he saw it you would probably be asleep for the night, but the excitement of if he was going to use it, that kept you on your toes.
***
“What can I say, you made me work for it”
“Goodnight, Y/N”
Your heart fluttered more than it should have when you woke up to his messages, bright and early, much earlier than he would be up the day after a game.
“Morning, Tito!”
You sent it, eyes widening as three bubbles popped up instantly.
“Have a good day at work”
You read it over and then saw him typing once again.
“Are you free Friday?”
Your heart nearly lept out of your chest.
“See you Friday”
A confident response that unknowing to you made him nervous, he was never nervous when it came to dates, but you were already so different to him.
You went about your day as normally, occasionally sneaking a moment to text Tito back as he sent you random things throughout the day, including the planning of your date for Friday. He insisted on picking you up, and you agreed, appreciating the chivalry he was showing that not many guys still had.
You were giddy, and he was thrilled, already mentally preparing himself, although he knew once he was around you, it would be easy. It always was.
***
The knock on your door made you inhale sharply, glancing down at your outfit once more, the skinny jeans hugging your curves just right, and the delicate blouse showing just enough skin to be flirty but modest, and it went along with the casual dress code he had established. You quickly zipped up the sides of your wedges, you flipped your loosely curled hair behind your shoulders as you unlocked the door. “Hey, Tito.” You breathed out, smiling at him, the both of you quickly taking in the sight of each other, “hi, you look great.” He complimented, his nerves instantly melting away as you let out a sheepish giggle, “thanks.” Your voice was soft and he soaked up every bit of it, seeing the shy smile adorning your face. “You clean up nice.” You responded, grabbing your purse as he chuckled, looking down at his dark jeans and short sleeve printed button shirt, you took notice of the chain he had underneath it. You shot him a smile as you turned back to him fully, “ready?” You asked, adjusting the purse on your shoulder.
“Ready.”
You burst into laughter as he pulled into the parking lot, the same restaurant you met at, “you’re serious?” You asked through a smile, he nodded, “I mean unless you don’t like it–“ you cut him off as he was about to ramble. You grabbed his hand that was resting on the center console, “no, I love it. It’s really cute honestly.” You assured him, not missing the way he instantly relaxed when you touched him. “Oh, good.” He breathed out, “let’s go inside.”
The hostess did a double take as she saw you two walk in hand in hand. It was the same one from the first night you met, “hello.” She grinned, grabbing two menus, “sitting together, again?” She asked, Anthony nodded brightly. “Yeah.” He answered, letting you walk in front of him as you followed her to a table. “Thanks.” You smiled at her, sitting in your seat, Anthony thanked her as well as he followed behind you. “So, is the chicken any good?” You asked, he broke into laughter, his head tipping back as he gave you an incredulous look. “I think it’s really good.” He answered, snickering as he picked up his menu, you smiled at his reaction, feeling giddy as you knew you were the reason he was having such a good time. “Ok but seriously, what else is good here?” You asked, shifting to an overly serious tone as you scanned over the menu, he smiled at the concentration on your face.
“It’s all good here.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”

Eyes That Won’t Wonder
2
“What, what!?” You shriek.
Another low laugh erupts from him as he leans against the door, his large frame blocking any potential view of the inside.
“I believe that is a compliment.” He mumbles his lips curling up into a sly smile.
“Y-yeah, it was.” You stammer, words barely making themselves out of you as your stomach begins to do cartwheels.
“As much as I'd love to stay right here and chat, you’d probably find it to be much more comfortable inside.” He says, smile fully present now, and you take a moment to admire the sight-storing it in your mind. He moves enough for you to slip right past him and pause the moment your feet touch the dark hardwood floors.
The aroma is the first thing that invades your senses. It smells of pine and a rich tobacco, with slight hints of something sweet- maybe vanilla, you can’t really tell. The home is just as beautiful on the inside as it appeared from the outside. The dark hardwood floors complimented the ivory walls and dark rust colored trim. The living room was sparsely decorated though, it had only one couch, a chestnut loveseat and a matching recliner. He obviously doesn’t get many visitors.
“Your home is beautiful.” You say breathlessly, eyes roaming the space in awe.
“Thank you.” He exclaims, a large hand grazing the small of your back as he slips behind you and towards the kitchen. His touch makes your knees go weak and you steady yourself by placing a shaky hand on the door.
“Would you like something to drink?” You hear him call from the kitchen.
“Ah, water please.” You answer, taking a few deep breaths before you saunter over to the counter placing your folder in front of you. He slides the glass in front of you and you nod as a thank you before you begin to sip.
“I don’t think I ever caught your name.” He says leaning back onto the fridge, arms folded over his massive chest.
“Oh, uh, my name is y/n y/ln.” You mumble your index finger rubbing the rim of the glass.
“Lovely, it fits you.” He says, eyes catching your own. You can't help the blush that arises on your cheeks.
“T-thank you.” You manage to stammer out, silently cursing yourself for getting so flustered so quickly. He was a patient not some guy at a bar, you needed to get a grip and you needed to get it fast. “Uhm, you’re a bit younger than most of the other patients i have worked for. Is there actually anything wrong with you?” You quiz, but the words come out a bit harsher than you intended. “Oh goodness, I did not mean that in a bad way at all sir- Mr. Wakatoshi, oh my goodness. I am so sorry.” You exhale letting your head fall into your hands. Your words are all becoming a jumbled mess and you can't help the shame that creeps up your throat. Great, now he probably thinks I'm some kind of asshole.
“No, it's okay. I understand what you were trying to say. Two years ago I had to get a disc in my back replaced and it took a lot out of me. Though I can still get around pretty well, there are still certain tasks that I need help with. I am also set to have another surgery on my knee two months from now, so I thought it would be better to have someone get accustomed to me and my habits beforehands.” He says voice monotone. Is he angry?
“Mr. Wakatoshi, I am so sorry if I came off as rude earlier- I didn’t mean to offend.” You say feeling guilty.
He shakes his head. “You’re fine sweetheart, I’m actually quite flattered that you think that.” Before you have a chance to relish his words he starts again, “I’m going to go put some clothes on, but here. I made a list- well a schedule really- of how my day usually functions. You can look over it and if there is anything that seems to be a bit much for you let me know and we will make alterations to it.” He says walking out of the kitchen and returning with a piece of paper. “Here, I will return shortly.” He says handing you the paper. Your eyes skim the page as you read the text.

All that is required of you is bolded, the italicized text is completely voluntary, though I would enjoy your company.
“Goodness.” You mumble, placing the paper down. “This is even less than I did with Washijō.” You thought you had it easy then just checking his oxygen, helping him up, and taking him wherever, but you were basically an in-home barista.
“I hope it isn't too much.” The voice startles you as he appears beside you now fully clothed- well not really. He had on a pair of dark sweatpants and a gray sleeveless shirt putting biceps on display for all to see.
“Uh, no, not at all sir. I was expecting much more actually.” You admit eyes darting between the paper and his arms.
“Oh, well I'm sorry to disappoint you.” He says voice low as he bends down to tie his shoes. “I’m sure that there will be more for you to do after my knee surgery.”
“Yes, and I'm not disappointed sir, I'm honestly kind of relieved. I haven't worked with anyone in quite a while, so this is a good refresher to allow me to get back into the routine of things.” You say words falling from your lips before you realize it.
“Is that so?” He asks standing back up to his full height, face full of curiosity.
“Yes, my previous patient passed away and I took some time off. He and I were close, friends even, and the death really hit me hard even though I knew it was coming. It still hurts ya know.” You exclaim as feelings of sadness wash over you at the thought of your friend.
You didn't know what you were expecting when you told him that, maybe an ‘i'm sorry for your loss’ or nothing at all but it is safe to say a hug was not one of those things. His body was warm and his chest was solid- it felt good. You wrapped your own arms around his waist and closed your eyes.
“I hope that one day you and I could be friends as well.” He says quietly pulling away.
You don't fight the smile that graces your face, “Yeah, I feel like we will.”
The words seem to liven him because a large smile spreads across his face again. “Well I’m gonna go lift now, feel free to look around. There's food in the fridge and snacks in the pantry. Make yourself at home.” He says walking to the back of his home.
“Oh, Mr. Wakatoshi!”
“Yes love?” He asks, turning back around, a smile still lingering on his lips.
“Who are Lyle and Randy?” You ask looking back down at the paper, partly to hide the blush that you are now sporting. “Are they your children?”
“Yes, they are my children. I’ll introduce you when I return.” He laughs before turning back around and disappearing into a hallway.
You sigh as soon as he is out of eyesight dropping your head onto the cool marble countertop, raising your head just enough to read the time on the clock that sits unwavering by stairs. 8:37. You had just under an hour to get somewhat acquainted with the home you would now be in for ten hours a day for six days a week. You decide to begin with the kitchen, opening and closing drawers & cabinets identifying the contents within them, occasionally rubbing a light hand over them. Next is the living room. The wide open space is mostly vacant and you take a seat on the loveseat sinking back into the cushions. “Nice.” You mumble.
Pushing yourself up you wonder to every room opening the door just enough for you to peek in and see what it is. You hesitate though when you get to the room at the end of the hallway. It’s his. You could sense it, nonetheless you slowly push the knob down and peek inside. It’s clean just like the rest of his home. You don't linger and decide its best to close the door & move onto the next.
By 9:15  you’d looked throughout his entire home, and it was more beautiful than you could have imagined. The ceilings in the bathrooms were high and had beautiful artworks painted atop of them, they looked as though they belonged in a museum rather than someone's guest bathroom. The spare bedrooms were just as lovely. Each had a shelf that was littered with books and knick-knacks that looked foreign. All of this just fueled your curiosity- what did he do & how long did he do it?
You shrugged as you went back into the kitchen jumping when you saw his large frame in the fridge. He was shirtless, again, but this time his hair was wet and clung to his head. The small gray stripes were clear as day against his dark olive locks.
“Oh, hi. I didn’t think you’d be done yet.” You say awkwardly scratching the back of your neck.
“Yes, I finished early and decided to shower & grab a snack.” He says waving the bowl of strawberries.
“I was about to prepare one for you.” You said.
“Oh, thank you. You don't really have to do anything today, just get accustomed to things.” He says popping the small red fruit into his mouth.
“Would you like me to stretch you out?” You ask, remembering the list.
His eyes shoot up to yours as soon as the question escapes your lips and you realize how wrong it sounded and before you had a chance to correct yourself he spoke. “You stretch me out, I mean i’ll try anything once but i’d prefer the opposite..”
His words startled you to say the least, and almost instinctively the words flowed from your lips, “I’d like to see you try.”
His eyes widened at your remark and at that you began to spew apologies. “Shit, fuck, DAMMIT. God, I am so sorry. I didn’t mean to say that, the stretching part I mean. Well I meant that, but not what I said afterwards. Ok, let me start over. What I meant to say is do you need help stretching considering you just got done working out. There, that's what I meant.”
Your eyes are frantic as they lock with his. God, it's the first day and I'm already gonna lose my damn job. Just great. His lips are pressed in a straight line for a moment before he finally lets the edge of them glide up into a small smirk.
“I’ve already stretched, but I suppose I could go a little deeper, maybe a little harder this time.” He says emphasizing the two words as he pops another strawberry between his lips smirk still evident.
“The stretches of course.?” You ask for clarification.
He hums and pops another strawberry between his lips setting the bowl down onto the counter stalking towards you, his large figure quickly engulfing your much smaller one almost instantly. “That’s not quite what I had in mind.”
You can feel his warm breath on your lips as he leans down, “But if that is what you insist.”
A loud bark bellowed throughout the kitchen causing you to jump. He smiled and wrapped a protective arm around your waist. “No need to fret, he was probably just getting anxious to meet you.”
“He?”
“Yes, my son, or at least one of them. Come on so I can introduce you.” He says guiding you down the hallway, to his room you assumed. You were correct, you realized as he pushed the door open revealing a large dog.
“Don’t worry sweetheart he doesn’t bite. Daddy made him promise to be on his best behavior.” He whispers lowly into your ear.
Fuck, this may be harder than I thought.

Suicidal Misunderstanding VII
Star Wars Time Travel AU #27
Part I - - - Part II - - - Part III - - - Part IV - - - Part V - - - Part VI
CONTENT WARNING: Please be advised this chapter may contain triggering material. More detail available in tags.
It wasn’t until Anakin was staring at the hot sauce bottles and solitary mysterious green takeout container that he remembered they were at war, and therefore no longer in the habit of restocking the apartment’s cold stasis.
“Obi-Wan, there’s nothing to eat!”
"I know!” came the call back. “I’m trying to meditate!”
Anakin closed the stasis door and walked back out to the common room. Obi-Wan sat crosslegged on the window sill.
“Do or do not, there is no try,” the knight quipped.
Obi-Wan opened his eyes to look fondly at the man standing before him. Maybe tomorrow, when he woke alone in a dusty desert hovel, he would regret letting himself play pretend for so long. Maybe this whole day would fade from his memory like a dream.
But right now, he felt... peaceful. He wouldn’t claim to be satisfied by the explanations he imagined for Anakin, but it would have been far more disturbing if he somehow came up with an actually sympathetic justification for genocide. He got to say and hear a number of goodbyes. He even got to cry over Anakin with the comfort of his presence.
Now he had to let go, to be there for Luke. (And he could always get more spice...)
“I guess if you need to meditate, I can go pick us up food from the Temple Tapcaf.” Anakin offered.
“Thank you, Anakin. Today...helped. More than I can explain.” Obi-Wan said softly.
“I- I don’t really deserve that. Considering it was all my fault.” Anakin bowed his head, helpless for words, but uncomfortable with being praised.
“Not every terrible thing that has happened is your fault. You made a series of terrible choices, yes. But there were, there are, other dark forces at work and not a single Jedi in the order was able to stop them. At least for a short time today I was able to set that aside, so for what it’s worth, thank you.”
“Kriff.” Anakin said shocked. “Of course there’s more. Ok. That’s all right, we-” he was cut off by a growl from Obi-Wan’s stomach.
A snort of laughter escaped before Anakin smacked a hand over his mouth. “Alright, I’m going to the Tapcaf, you just...meditate until I get back.”
Obi-Wan swallowed and nodded, “I love you so much.”
“Force Obi-Wan, you’re going to make me start crying again.” He pulled him into a bear hug. “Don’t do anything stupid while I’m not gone, ok? Just...meditate. And drink some water.”
"Hmm, I don’t know. Some of my best choices recently have been stupid,” Obi-Wan laughed. The words were light, but Anakin felt a prickle of unease, a hint of danger. There was no clear cause, and Obi-Wan seemed relaxed but...
Anakin gripped his Master’s shoulders, staring him dead in the eye. “Promise me you won’t do anything stupid.”
Obi-Wan sighed, “I promise.” He pulled Anakin down to press a kiss to his forehead. “Goodbye, Anakin.”
"I’ll be back in 20 minutes.” He paused, then mumbled, “i love you too” before speeding out the door.
Obi-Wan settled back into meditation, reaching inwards. Everything but his body and the light within faded. He magnified his hunger, his thirst, visualizing the pack of dried jerky in his hut, the precious jars of water in the basement. He could almost feel the heat that never quite abandoned Tatooine, even during the short nights. He opened his eyes
and saw the temple apartment.
He shut them again quickly. He was sure he could snap himself out of this. He sank deeper inward, careful to leave his shields perfectly intact. With the galaxy as dim as it was, a real show of force had the potential to grab attention across star systems. Force purging toxins, fortunately, was more a matter of internal concentration than outward power. It was one of the first skills Obi-Wan had truly mastered as a Jedi, thanks to numerous kidnappings at the start of his apprenticeship and hard drinking towards the end.
It was uncomfortable to be that keenly aware of one’s kidneys, but Obi-Wan managed. It was less intense than a healing trance, anyway. His heart rate increased as various metabolic processes sped up- and almost immediately slowed down. Huh. The drug must of almost run its natural course, and now he
still in the temple.
Kark. Shit.
‘Breathe’ he thought. Stress was only going to increase his chances of a stroke. Alright, so meditation wasn’t working. Maybe he could try for longer, but part of him was nervous that if ‘Anakin’ returned he’d lose the willpower, and so far the passage of time had been extremely linear. He was too invested in the fantasy at this point for anything easy.
Remember your training. Your eyes can deceive you, do not trust them.
Padawans were taught three main methodologies to move beyond mindtricks, hallucinations, visions, and the like. Looking In, Reaching Out, and Breaking Out.
Looking in wasn’t working. That left the other two options. In the past, when his senses were lying to him he could always trust in the force, but now...it was just too much risk. Reaching out like that, with his whole self, meant the chance of finding someone.
That left breaking out. Obi-Wan jumped up, staring intensely at the details in the molding, the stains on the carpet, at everything. At no point today had he spotted objects fading to grey in the corner his vision, or ripple as memories from different time frames overlapped, but surely there must be some weak point.
Nothing.
Shit, he really had stayed too long. Alright then, time for more uncivilized measures.
He walked to the kitchen and pulled their butcher’s vibroblade from its block, holding it to his neck, then hesitated.
This had to be done, but it didn’t make it any less unsettling. It was his own fault for lingering in the delusion so long; all the more palatable paths to escape had closed off, and after all he had been through he refused to die from a drug overdose. Gods, it might take years for someone to find the body.
He steeled himself, bringing the blade back up decisively only to drop it with a clatter. Pressing a hand to his throat, he was unnerved but not entirely surprised to find a stinging line of pain. His hand came away wet with blood. He instinctively pressed both hands to the cut, pulse rapid and heavy and slippery beneath his palms.
It’s just a hallucination. It’s just an extremely vivid hallucination.
A thought occurred to Obi-Wan then, and he felt something in the pit of his stomach drop in horror.
What if...what if the blade was real. What if he was actually moving around his home right now, hazily sleepwalking in a pantomime of the peaceful stroll and tender embraces he was imagining. It would explain the immediate relief from the water this morning...hadn’t he found his way to food and water even dazed from sleep-debt and blood-loss during the war?
He had a vibroblade in the desert too...
His pulse pounded harder beneath his hands. The cut wasn’t even that deep, but for the first time Obi-Wan felt the true existential horror of his current trap well up. If he didn’t know where the walls were...how could he escape.
He took a deep breath, acknowledging and letting go of his panic.
He had the force. He would just have to be delicate in his application. He picked up the bloodied tool from the floor but decided to simply to clip it to his belt for now. A force-null object would be harder to distinguish at first touch.
Obi-Wan walked to his temple bedroom and opened the barest crack in his shields, just enough to reach out, get a sense of existing currents in the force. He stirred at one until a small vortex of light formed. To anyone looking, it would appear a naturally occurring, low-powered whirlpool, common enough on Tattoine. Any gentle moves he made in the minutes before it fell apart would hopefully be obscured by its wake.
He hesitantly laid a hand on the lightsaber on his bedside table, lowering his shields a little further. His heart sunk when he realized that his memory had even recreated the perception of force-imbued temple walls in the periphery. The Kyber in his saber reverberated with a familiar song. He jerked his hand away. That felt too much like his real lightsaber. He couldn’t risk it.
Before Obi-Wan truly began to panic again, he realized something missing. Anakin’s- Darth Vader’s saber. Since picking it up on Mustafar, the crystal in it had screamed at him, halfway to corruption. When he touched the blade he could almost feel... feel what horrors it had been bent to commit.
Most of the time he left it buried under a rock pile in his basement, too afraid to work on healing it.
He couldn’t hear it now- but he could feel the memory of what it used to be.
It sat innocently on his Anakin’s bedside table. There was a tinge of darkness to it of course- this saber had only ever known war. But when he rested a hand on the blade it was clear this belonged to the memory he had walked with today, not the tyranny of reality.
Grasping it firmly, he marched back to the windowsill and settled, intent on his choice. Sunsets here couldn’t compare to tattooine- they were just too different. The binary play transformed the infinite horizon. It was something on Tatooine he unabashedly marveled at.
Courasant, on the other hand, transformed the sun into a reflection of itself. Untold millions of transparisteel buildings refracted the star painfully at some points while casting shadows on the rest. The filter of light through constant smog resulted in strange shades of neon green and blood red. It was beautiful, but uncomfortable to look at too long.
He closed his eyes and pressed the saber to his chest.
---
Anakin was impatiently waiting in the hot service line when the urge to return to his apartment insistently welled up again. He pushed it back of course- Obi-Wan needed food and Anakin couldn’t keep putting his own selfish impulses in front of his Master’s wellbeing.
He held out for a few seconds, but the itch was getting stronger, sharper. He looked down at the tray- it already had most of Obi-Wan’s cold favorites, but he really wanted to get him his favorite soup if the line would just move a little faster. He jolted when, for the first time that day, Obi-Wan’s shielding thinned the slightest amount. Not enough to get anything clear, but the fact that there was movement at all...
He left the line; they could always come back together if Obi-Wan wanted. Hells, maybe they’d do a late night visit to Dex’s for some real comfort food. Anakin still couldn’t get a sense of what Obi-Wan was up to through their muffled bond. He felt a buzz in his ears, not unlike the moment before an enemy blow.
He picked up speed, tea sloshing in its thermoflask. An elder looked at him annoyed as darted around him.
He started speed walking in earnest as the feeling got more intense. A sandwich fell to the wayside.
Speed walking quickly switched to jogging, then running; there was a shout of complaint as he ditched the whole tray carelessly behind.
He took the last few hallways at a full-out force-assisted sprint, the Force itself screaming at him to move. A small part of his mind thought we’re safe inside the temple Obi-Wan promised not to do anything stupid i’m going to get such shit for freaking out over nothing.
He sensed nothing from Obi-Wan over the bond; not a hint of fear or anger or surprise. He blurred around the last corner, feeling like he might throw up with his increasing, unexplained panic.
Not caringabout anything butgettingto Obi-Wan beforeitstoolate he smashed down the door at the same moment Obi-Wan, sitting peacefully by the window, turned on the lightsaber pointing directly at his heart.
Time seemed to slow. Splinters of the door frame hung in the air as Anakin desperately pulled the lightsaber away from Obi-Wan in the half-second between activation and ignition.
He wasn’t quite fast enough.
Blue plasma pierced Obi-Wan’s chest as time caught up. Pieces of the wall shattered like shrapnel as he turned, shocked to see Anakin. The saber flew away in a straight arrow.
Anakin threw himself to Obi Wan’s side, wildly trying to draw heat away from the searing hole before it could vaporize the surrounding flesh. He couldn’t tell what the saber had pierced, or how far it had gone in considering its last second movement.
One hand trained on a hundred battle fields robotically reached for his comm-unit to call for emergency medical assistance. His mind however, had largely been left behind a few minutes ago, when he was trying to pick what Obi-Wan would want to eat for dinner.
What came out his mouth was more incoherent shrieking than anything else, but he had at least called the correct line for temple aid.
He threw down the comm, focus intent on controlling the smoldering burn. The air around them seemed to boil and Obi-Wan started struggling to get away. Anakin bodily held him down, finally finding words,
“What the FUCK, OBI-WAN! YOU LITERALLY JUST PROMISED NOT TO DO ANYTHING STUPID! YOU PROMISED!”
“that’s why- hkk I  have  to” Obi-Wan rasped.
“Karking Fuck.YOU- STOP MOVING!”
Anakin felt a twinge of danger come from the side but was too focused to do anything but shift his body as shield. A sharp pain pierced his gut but he ignored it.
The air crackled with heat and power as the wound beneath him cooled. A faint trickle of dark blood oozed out, probably burns breaking from recent movement, considering the instant cauterization. He couldn’t see any light coming through, which meant he had moved the saber at least a quarter klick before it activated, Anakin thought semi hysterically.
Finally, someone showed up to investigate the disturbance. In truth, probably less than a minute had passed since Anakin entered the room, but he really didn’t care.
“HELP ME!” Anakin shouted.
“What happened?” Mace Windu asked grimly, falling to the ground next to them. Not waiting for an answer, he set his lit saber aside and placed his hand to Obi-Wan’s forehead, stilling the violent thrashing.
Anakin opened his mouth but he just didn’t have the words. He didn’t know.
“General Skywalker, report.” Mace Windu commanded sharply.
“I left him alone to get dinner for us. I ran back and when I broke open the door he was holding the lightsaber to his chest. I tried...to pull it away. It pierced him, and I’ve been trying to manage the initial burn risk. I called for medi but I don’t know their eta.”
“They’re behind me. How did you get stabbed?” the Master demanded.
“How did I what?” Anakin looked down to see a vibroblade sticking out from his left side. Right, the pain from before. Obi-Wan suddenly mustered up the energy to wake up despite his state and Windu’s compulsion. He looked around wildly before yanking the knife from Anakin’s side.
Anakin gasped, but managed to still his brother’s hand using the force before he could finish bringing it up to his neck, which Anakin just noticed was bloody.
“STOP TRYING TO DIE!” Anakin screeched.
“...I’m...not....I’m....trying.....to...”
But before Obi-Wan could finish the sentence, the healers finally arrived, pushing Windu aside to grab hold of Anakin and Obi-Wan. He could feel a buzz of energy go through him, stopping at the growing damp patch at his side. He tried to push the man away but the heat in the room was starting to make him dizzy
“I’m fine! Focus on Obi-Wan.”
Mace placed a hand on his shoulder, and in the gentlest voice he had ever heard from the man, said, “You’ve been stabbed Anakin. Let the healers help both of you- you’ve done well looking out for him.”
Obi-Wan, still occasional thrashing was being loaded onto a hoverstrech for transport. A second stretcher waited next to it.
“Master Windu! He’s fighting us,” Master Che called sharply. “Can you tell us what happened?”
“Master Kenobi tried to kill himself,” Windu replied flatly. “His wounds are self inflicted and he’s violently fighting assistance”
There was a beat as that information was processed. Knight Bant, who must have arrived at some point, said in slightly less flat voice, “He displayed erratic behavior earlier today, and I ruled out drug interactions.”
“Thank you, Knight Bant.” Master Che plunged a syringe of some kind into Obi-Wans thigh. He finally stopped attempting to fight, falling down onto the board. “Red team, with me. Orange, you have Skywalker,” She instructed sharply.
Anakin numbly watched most of the healers leave with Obi-Wan through a hole in the wall. He slowly started to stand and somehow ended up guided into a seat on the hoverboard. Looking down, he was surprised to see his tunic cut away in favor of a large bacta patch.
“Hey,” he protested. “Who stabbed me?”
“We can discuss that after you have surgery,” A Human healer replied. Master Covamos, he thought.
“This is my fault” Anakin said, suddenly urgent. “I shouldn’t have left him. He told me goodbye, he was saying goodbye all day, I should have...”
“You saved his life,” Windu interrupted. “You got to him just in time, don’t waste your energy on should-haves. Now sleep.”
Anakin wanted to argue more, but instead found himself laying down, vision blurring. His face felt damp, had he been stabbed more than once? Windu said a few more words he couldn’t quite make out. There was a brief stinging sensation, then everything faded away.

"Keiji!"
You watch as she runs up to him, engulfing him in the sweetest hug you could ever imagine. How you envy the feeling of being welcome in his arms. His eyes soften at the sight of her, as she rambled on how amazing he was. He gives her his heart fluttering smile as he lets his palm set on her shoulder, kindly thanking her for watching and supporting him throughout the entire game.
Did your shouts of love become silent to him?
She grabs his towel, patting it lightly on his forehead as he blushes finding the gesture extremely embarassing for the girl he longs for to just wipe away his sweat. He tries to stop her but she insisted, even grabbing her water bottle and giving it to him, asking him to drink some water and rest.
"Hey hey hey- look at me please."
Bokuto says, coming from behind you. You turn to him with water baring eyes, a heartache eating you up with every second you continue to watch. Bokuto sighs as he pulls you in his arms, his chin resting on your crown, as he caresses your hair as you let out an agonizing sob. Bokuto sees the way Akaashi didn't bother to spare them a glance, as Akaashis overall being was captivated by the girl that was beside him. He coes her, whispering how he's got her and he'll never have the courage to let her go, the way the dark haired boy did.
"We won today yeah? Why don't we celebrate?" Bokuto tries to tone his voice in his usual cheery self but feels defeated when he sees her. Y/N looks up at him, he tenses up as he holds your head, an instinct that you were going to look again. You were mid way into letting your eyes land on them but Bokuto stopped you as he held your face in his palm, looking at you with an expression you were well familiar with.
"Y/N."
" 'Taro, shit I'm sorry!" You shouted before wiping away your eyes as his heart winces seeing his friend poorly attempt to regain the sunshine that she once was. Puffed cheeks, swollen eyes, red tinted nose, what a cruel sight yet she dared to cover all of these with a smile. It was disgusting how she made it look so believable, fooling almost everyone that witnessed her little facade. Bokuto falling for it countless of times but has learned to tell the difference every now and then, fitting in for the spot of her once best friend who knew exactly what she was truly feeling.
Akaashi would've read her like a novel he loved but it seems like it wasn't as timeless anymore.
It was now up to Bokuto to handle the shattered girl, even when her own broken heart pierced through her like a knife everyday.
"I-I know a good place to eat at! Maybe then I can treat you for being my favorite ace?" She offers with a sickening chuckle. She was achingly trying. He only gives her a smile, accepting her efforts of hiding how empty she felt. He lets his arm fall on her shoulders, comforting her with everything he can do.
"Oh! I'd like that, kind of like a double date huh? Seems like I get to treat my favorite setter too!" Akemi states, eyes darting towards Akaashi as he becomes flustered with her words. Bokutos eyebrow furrows, and with a pout he tries to insist that you didn't want her to accompany them, but you let your arm come before him as he questions your decisions.
"Sure! The more the merrier right, Ko?" Akemi claps her hand as she gathers her things, Akaashi doing the same. Bokuto takes notice of your longing gaze as he pulls you with him.
"So is that right? I'm your favorite?" Bokuto teases, as you laugh punching him lightly on his shoulder. He chuckles but was taken by surprise as you wrap your arms around his neck, standing on your tip toes to reach him. He immediately wraps his arms around your waist as you pat his hair, nuzzling your face in his neck as you smile, feeling gratitude for an amazing friend like him.
"You were fantastic earlier, I'm sorry for being so-" Bokuto cuts you off with a shout of triumph, making you confused as he pulls away. He wouldn't let her continue her sentence, knowing he couldn't stand hearing her blame herself for something she couldn't handle.
"Ah! What a starter! Thanks Y/N! No wonder I'm the best huh?" He shouts closing his eyes, putting his hands on his hips smiling to himself. You laugh, enjoying how it fed his confidence. Akaashi turns to the two of you watching how Bokuto oddly portray his muscles as you laugh loudly. Akemi smiles beside him, finding the duo quite suited for each other
"They should date! Bokuto makes her so happy!" She claims, as Akaashi blinks, shaking his head turning to meet her green eyes.
"She hates guy who shows off their muscles like that. She think's its a bit cocky." Akemi laughs at Akaashi, since what he said sounded like a known fact.
"Maybe everything can change when she's with him."
She states, making his eyes widen. Impossible. She can't just switch her words just because of Bokuto. He says to himself. Once he hears how genuine your laugh was and realizes that the ace was the cause of it, he stiffens at the thought of the you and the captain together. Akaashi was the one to introduce you to him so it was a surprise you two would come together like that, especially when he felt how Bokuto adjusted to you quite quickly.
"Ooh Y/N likes that color! Will you get it for her, Akaashi?!" Bokuto asks, pointing excitedly at a plush toy. Akaashis blue eyes turned to the location where the finger was pointed and he smiles seeing an immensely cute plush toy he knew you would love but this glee ends when he realizes that Bokuto managed to remember your favorite color.
"Bokuto-san, I'm impressed you knew what she liked." He said with an amused smile. The other boys eyes glimmered in the moonlight, remembering your past conversations with him.
"It's easy! Y/N always talk about many things and it's so freaking awesome. You've known her for the longest time right 'Kaashi? She's so cool." His words bring a smile to the setters lips, loving how Bokuto got along with you so well.
"Oh wait! Akaashi!"
"Yes, Bokuto-san?"
"Well! You've been with her since you were young right? So that means.. you like her!"
Akaashi coughs on his water looking at Bokuto. Bokutos cackle echoed through the air and his words consuming Akaashi's thoughts.
"I do like her but not romantically ok?" He defends, but Bokuto let's out a displeased scoff skipping ahead of the flustered setter. Happily moving knowing he's got him on a hot seat.
"That can change Akaashi!"
And it did.
For Y/N to watch Akemi casually serve Akaashi his food, it was like being tortured in a chamber or watching it to make your brain rot. They look perfect, she thinks. Bokuto was eating happily beside him, and setting aside how hurt she was, she chose to ignore the throbbing of her heart. Akaashi was in front of her as Akemi was in front of Bokuto. The two were in well conversation as Bokuto tried to gather your attention while he brings up how excited he was for a new move.
Dropping your chopsticks, you curse as you got out of your chair to bend down and reach it. Grabbing it in your hands as you look up to see a hand covering the sharp corner of the table. Your eyes follow it and realizing it was Akaashis hand, protecting you if you were to hit your head. This minimal effort was enough to set your soul on fire, admiring how he was able to act so quickly and composed. You return to your seat, Akaashi watching you steadily to make sure you were back. You give him a nod, thanking him for being observant as he smiles to you instead.
Just maybe.
You feel the rising heat on your cheeks as you sip water, hoping it were to ease your frantic heart. You observe Akemi, and painfully suck in the harsh truth that you couldn't deny. Everything that Akaashi has told you about his dream girl, the list of expectations he's had, it was all her. The embodiment of what Akaashi wants to hold, to love and to keep. You hear how her laughter sounded like gentle music, even her personality radiated nothing but sunshine.
All you can do was sigh, when a dream like her already has captured the heart of the young boy you grew to love.
She drops her phone, somewhat mirroring your actions beforehand. Akaashi turns to her immediately, as your heart took another strike seeing him mimic the same actions he had with you. Hand covering the edge, with a gentle hand on her back as she picks up the device leaving you stranded in strings of pain. She smiles at him, casually resting her hand on his as a thank you. Akaashi immediately blushes before placing his other hand on top, eyes lovingly holding onto hers.
The string of hope that you held on for dear life, immediately broke as you let the cup of water fall from your hands, taking an excruciating hit as you were brought back to the silent beating of your heart.
I'm certain that I'm yours.
Or at least I thought.
Bokuto calls your name multiple times as he frantically wipes the spillage of the water that was on the table and on your attire. You felt towels pat your lap gently as Bokuto still continued to put effort in grabbing your attention. Akemi looks at you concerned, worried for whatever thought that you had in mind was enough for you to completely lose your grip on reality.
"Y/N, hey!"
"I didn't think I'd be able to stay with you this long, Y/N." He says with a smile as you walk with him. It was early in the morning, both on your way to school. Coffee in both hands as you give him a pout, finding his statement in a different tone.
"You make it sound like you're unfortunate." You joke as Akaashi laughs beside you, sipping coffee before letting out a satisfied sigh.
"You've been with me even before I got in Fukurodani. I'm just really happy I've found somebody to turn to." You smile as your fingers brush against each other in which at the contact made you both blush. All the tension that was held in the moment was a bunch of unheard confessions, both unwilling to let them speak.
"I'm lucky I have you too, Kei."
"Seems like someone isn't technically happy of sharing the spotlight with me." Akaashi teases pointing at a very sleepy Bokuto who was walking up to you two.You giggle at the setter, while his blue eyes stayed on your smiling lips, relieved that it didn't fail to make him smile as well.
"Y/N."
A stern voice makes your gloomy eyes trail over to a pair of blue ones you were addicted to.
"Y/N? What's wrong with you? You made a mess." He says, completely knocking you off your limit. You stood up, hands on the table with your head down as Bokuto grunts knowing exactly what was bound to happen.
"I'm sorry Akaashi."
"That was reckless. You could've spilled it all over us, even Akemi-"
Bokuto winces when the name slips off of Akaashis lips as you hastily grab your wallet placing the money to Bokuto and mumbling a sorry before rushing to leave, tears falling from your tired eyes once you were out of the restaurant. Bokuto observes the way Akaashis eyes remained enlarged when it hit him how harsh he was. The captain wished that this worry of Akaashi would last long, since this was his first time seeing the setter show any concern for the poor girl in such a long time.
"Bokuto, will she be alright?" Akemi asks him, as he lets out a shrug of defeat. Akaashi bit his lip feeling the responsibility of his actions weigh on both him and the ace. He knew that Bokuto would never be able to comfort her the way he does, and reading her expressions when she left, reassuring her wouldn't be as easy.
Because he was the reason why she was hurting, not even realizing the damage has been done too many times already.
Your feet felt like weights as you ran, feeling the burn of guilt pass through you. On your way to pick up some snacks and refreshments for their match, a certain sight caught your eye leading you to your current decision.
"Yes thank you!" You say with a smile before, leaving the store with the things you bought. You rub your eyes, hating how early you had to catch a bus for their match. This was your only chance to watch them again since you avoided Akaashi for days, making Bokuto your company. You apologized dozens of times to Bokuto for leaving him in an awkward situation. Of course he forgave you, deciding to treat you to a movie instead to erase your worry.
Suddenly a familiar voice spikes up your interest, your head turning left and right to find Akemi. Instead, a tall man walks pass you carrying a bag that you've seen multiple times. You shrug, not wanting to lead to conclusions knowing how Akemi was genuine with her admiration for Akaashi.
"Haru-san!"
Akemi greets, arms wrapped around the waist of the man. You turn to see the two hugging and you gripped the plastic bag in your hands, as Haru places a gentle kiss on her forehead making you stunned even more.
"So where we going later?" He asks, as you lower your head, trying to control your breathing. This is impossible. How could she just lead him on like that! You despised how you weren't able to save Akaashi from the beginning, and now it was your turn to drop a heavy bomb on your best friend.
"We'll meet up later okay? I'll just attend my friend's match."
Friends.
You immediately walked away, weakened at what she just said. No matter shape or form, Akaashi would be hurt, completely. It hurt you that you'd have to see the painful expression on Akaashis face. You bit your lip, trying to avoid the look of dismay on your best friend. You let out a sad sigh as you began to pick up the pace in your walk.
Is it his turn to feel hopeless?
You've tried your best to avoid him. The tension being unresolved between the two of you yet you were happy Akaashi understood why you've created distance between you and him.
Knowing the two were inseparable, you were the one to adjust whenever Bokuto would be heading to practice or even going to lunch. Although, Akaashi gave you some space knowing his outburst completely set a different side to your friendship. You two have never really fought in such a way, he knew even if it was a small fight there was a distinct aura that surrounded the two of you. Beyond what happened, he knew you were facing some other problem that he was clueless of and him adding to your issues wasn't helping the both of you.
So whenever the dark haired boy saw you bid goodbye to Bokuto whenever he was on his way to approach the captain, it stung in his heart.
Akaashi sighs beside Bokuto. Koutaro was prepping himself up completely, pressing his palms to his cheeks. They were up to play soon and the blue eyed boy wonders if she would be able to make it back in time. While he wonders about you, his mind swerves to Akemi. He finds himself foolishly smiling at the thought of them holding hands at the restaurant so he looks at his phone, finding her contact and glancing at their photo.
Next to her contact was yours, which he was hesitant to tap on. He shuts off his phone before seeing Bokuto wave frantically with a smile on his face. Akaashi looks at you, eyes shining knowing you made it just in time to bid him goodluck and hopefully to clear up the quarrel. You felt your heart leap with every step, a war in your head in how you were going to tell him. Your hands tightened as you walk over to them, Bokuto patting your head showing how delighted he was that you were there. Akaashi wonders if you could even spare him a glance.
" 'Taro! I have your snacks but- promise me you'll be the best out there and maybe I'll treat you later!" You say as Bokuto punches the air, his mind in a frenzy at the scenario in his head of eating his favorite food.
You turn to Akaashi, shakily grabbing his arm as he stiffens at your sudden contact. He looks at your weary eyes as you desperately tried to calm down.
"Keiji, can we talk?" Why did you say it like that? He asks himself. His name has never sounded so troublesome before. He fidgets with his fingers as he trails behind you as you lead him to a more private place. You felt the shivers reach your body, immediately bringing coldness at how anxious you were. This was the first time in days where you two would be able to converse properly again.
As you make your way to a corner, Akaashis feet was tapping furiously, scared of what you were going to say. He waits for you to speak as he watches you take a deep breath as you hold his arm once again. Softer than before but it felt like a desperate touch.
"Kei- you do trust me right?" Akaashi nods immediately, lips frowning at the tone of her voice. Is she going to leave me? Please say no. He wanted to get this over with so he wonders if you were just going to rip off the bandaid and end the friendship even if he was willing to apologize multiple times. But then, how could you end it just because he was right about being reckless?
"Akemi- she has a boyfriend, Keiji-"
"You came.. to tell me this?"
"Akaashi- I-I know you like her but"
"God Y/N how could you.." Akaashi exclaims as you aggresively run your fingers through your hair, before grabbing his jacket trying to make him stay. He stands there in shock, as rage and envy flow through him overwhelming him in the process. His hands form a ball as it tightens quickly at the thought of how Akemi was just being nice all the time.
Akaashi looks at you only to find truth in your eyes but his heart betrays the both of you, now broken and in denial that the girl he adored was dating somebody that wasn't him.
"Akaashi, please listen to me! I don't want you to get hurt..believe me!" You pleaded, throwing away how hurt you were from the drastic change in his tone.
"Hurt? So you think you're being considerate then?" Akaashi questions her with spite in his tone. His demeanor towering over her as she crumbles at his voice. Akaashis heart coming back to the reason why it was guarded in the first place.
"Keiji.. you know that's not what I mean!" You defended yourself as Akaashi scoffs. It was mocking you how composed he looked yet the tone of his voice was laced with pure hatred. Deep down, Akaashi accepted the fact that he could never really win Akemi but he was blinded by the pain that you brought him.
"You're just jealous, Y/N. Stop lying." He continued, making you shake your head as you tried to grasp his jacket again but this time your hands barely touched the fabric making your heart gasp at how Akaashi was out of your grip.
"I didn't know you could pull off being a liar, and I don't see myself being a friend with a trait like yours."
The tears flowed down your cheeks as you let out a shakey breath, in disbelief at what he just said. I'm not lying, Akaashi. You promised me you trusted me.
"You said you t-trusted me, Akaashi! How could that change for you!" You shouted as he was brought back to Akemis words.
"Maybe everything can change."
"You promise I'll be okay?"
"I've got no reason to doubt you." He says smiling as you lean your head on his shoulder, tracing random lines and doodling away on his soft skin. Under the beautiful tree, with purple painted skies with clouds up above. After a stressful day on your side, the setter took notice of how you've let yourself fall onto your insecurities once again so he took it upon himself and brought you to a silent place to show you how you shouldn't worry about anything, comforting you with his kind words and him trusting you that would be able to regain your old self again.
"Certain things hurt and you're my only virtue." You confess as his heart spikes up its speed with your response. You sat up, gazing at the houses who seemed too tiny from your distance. You held your knees to your chest with lips formed in a relaxed state as you lean on your arm that was on top of your knee.
And I'm virtually yours.
Akaashi remained with his back on the grass as he admired your features wondering how you could ever put yourself down, when you took away his words whenever you were with him, hiding it perfectly and keeping his admiration far from you to avoid the continous breaking of his heart knowing he'd betray your beloved friendship.
I adore you, he thinks to himself as the only thing that reflected in his eyes were the girl he's lost to his wrong decision.
"You changed and it's disappointing. All because of jealousy? I've been with you for so long, how did you become selfish?"
Selfish. I must've been crazy then, you think. You let out a bitter chuckle, Akaashi frightened at this side of you you've yet to show him before. It was like poison consuming your body, in which the poison came in the form of his words.
"All I've ever been is selfless, god I even let you fall for someone else when I've been in love with you for years."
You took a step back as Akaashi stood where he was, feeling as if his feet couldn't leave the floor as he lets himself drown in your confession. He gulps as he was struck with regret since he had no idea how to respond to you. His eyes trail to the floor as he struggles to find the words.
Then the battle began, between in what he knows whose right for you and his heart who wanted no one else but you.
He was miserable. A side of him wanted to say how much he's waited for you to bid those words to him and claim that he's felt the same as you, but the other side wanted to badly decline knowing he was stuck in choosing you and Akemi. Akemi who has effortlessly tugged on his heart strings and gained it with her gentleness and beautiful personality, and you who's promised to stay forever and loved him longer than anyone else has.
Don't make me choose on who I love more.
He knew the time would come where his decisions would bare another heavy mark on him. He's already made a terrible one by putting his heart in the hands of Akemis instead of yours. He wishes there wasn't a deadline to this difficult decision, but to him it seemed like if he doesn't choose now, he'd feel the pain everyday.
"AKAASHI! LET'S GO!" Bokuto screams as Akaashi turns his eyes to you in a swift move, finding your eyes covered in tears but how come you looked like you felt nothing? You sniffle as you give him a warm smile, a reaction he didn't want to see knowing it wasn't a smile that could bring him joy.
"Goodluck, Akaashi."
He takes a step forward trying to capture you in his arms but Bokuto grabs him by the arm pulling him away from you, Bokuto saying goodbye to you as well and reminding you the promise you gave him. That moment, all that Akaashi wanted to was run and replace the silence he gave you. You deserved to hear what he truly felt, but his words were trapped as he still had to examine if he was choosing the right ones.
But he ran out of time.
-
The game starts and he prays for his performance to be at his usual best. Once Bokuto had the setter to himself, Akaashi couldn't hold back and told him what happened. Bokuto felt horrible for both of you, while feeling revengeful to Akemi since he too fell for her sweet gestures to Akaashi thinking that she actually liked him. Importantly, Bokuto badly wanted to be there for you. He knew how much you liked him so for you to confess so suddenly during your argument, it had the grey haired boy worried about you.
He couldn't blame Akaashi, as much as he wanted to. He acted in a way because he was suffering, but they didn't realize they both were. Though, he wished Akaashi could've treated her better, believed her. Bokuto believed her the minute Akaashi told him, and it was because he trusted her completely and she wouldn't speak out without a reason meanwhile Akaashi chose to hold onto denial.
And as they play, Akaashi looks over to the stands, searching for you when he came upon Akemis. The pretty girl with an arm wrapped around her shoulder as Akaashi loses the ball in his hands from the view.
"Akaashi, please listen to me! I don't want you to get hurt..believe me!"
"You said you t-trusted me, Akaashi! How could that change for you!"
Like the ball falling to the floor, his heart went along with it.
Scream. That's what he wanted to do. How absurd of him to get it wrong twice, there shouldn't even be any room for mistakes. I can't believe I lost her..again. Akaashi thinks. There was a painful ache in his heart, yet he couldn't set it free not wanting to let down the team. Especially in a match like this. He wanted to break, to land on the ground and let his consciousness scold him for hours. He deserved it. He should've learned but he was trapped inside a world where he thought Akemi would've been his everything, when he was blind to how powerful his love for you all this time.
Come back to me.
"Akaashi!" Bokutos hand reach his shoulder and all he could do was stare at a pair of blank eyes. Before the ace could ask what happened, Akaashi was clutching on to Bokutos jersey harshly taking the older boy by surprise.
"She was right." Akaashi utters as he points to the crowd making Bokuto squint just to find where Akemi was. Once he finds them, he sighs sadly before trying to come up with a response to cheer the boy up. It was obvious that Akaashi was too affected to perform properly. Lip quivering as if his world was destroyed twice.
"Doesn't that mean the only thing you can come back to is Y/N?"
Akaashi looks up to him, confused. Bokuto patted the boys shoulder with a soft smile.
"Look over there." This time, it was Bokutos turn to point to the other side of the stands to see you glancing over them. Akaashis eyes glimmered at the sight of you, like life was brought to him in an instant. Happiness couldn't be the only word to describe his emotions.
You were watching.
And he was going to win. Just for you.
This brings him a massive wave of energy, not digging into his thoughts. You smile wiping your heavy eyes seeing him back to his usual self. In his heart he was happy but a mistake shouldn't be rewarded by a smile.
Sticking to his promise, they won but an unfamiliar feeling sets in his skin making him stop in his tracks making Bokuto look behind him to see Akaashi with his hand on top of his chest and eyes straight to the floor. Bokuto grips the phone in his hand, biting his lip and looking down, his heart aching as well.
"Bokuto-san, where is she?" His voice cracks, a tear finally escaping his eyes. He lets out a soft sniffle looking everywhere for a trace of you. Bokuto just shakes his head as a response and Akaashis eyes widen as he harshly wipes away his tears with the sleeve of his jacket. Written in his lips and eyes, Akaashi was exhausted. At first, he thought that letting go of his emotions would be the answer but now he was letting them free yet he didn't wanna scream anymore. He already felt his throat dry at the realization.
"Doesn't that mean the only thing you can come back to is Y/N?"
You sank in your seat, numb to how wet your cheeks were from the continous flow of your tears. Your chest was heaving up and down but your eyes were already closed with tight lips pressed into a line. There were certain things you wish you could've done, but staying wasn't an option when you've gone through multiple battles already. This was the last straw.
Even if you did wanted to fight for him, would he do the same?
You let out a sigh as you open your eyes seeing the road and reminiscing on your last walk with Akaashi.
"What's her name again?" You ask, kicking a rock to the side before shoving your hands inside the pocket of your blazer. Akaashi smiles out of bliss at the thought of her smile and once you've got a glimpse of his expression, you question the drop in your heartbeat as you see him blush before fidgeting with his fingers.
"Akemi." He says, his heart beating loudly. Saying her name already brought the setter in touch with his emotions. It was unlikely for him to feel his heart flutter, but being around Akemi brought him to smile whenever she was there, get anxious to respond to her, and get a flush on his cheeks at the thought of her moments with him.
The name rings in your ears as you were greeted by the silencing beat of your heart. You watch as he turns to you since you've trailed behind him. You visualize how you've seen him with Akemi during lunch and that's when you knew.
It's never going to be me, is it?
"Let's go, Bokuto-san." Bokuto bit his lip, waiting for you to go to them and proving him it was all a prank.
"Akaashi-"
"She left already and I-" His voice breaks making Bokuto gaze at him in pain.
"I'm sorry I couldn't make her stay, Akaashi." Bokuto whispers. Akaashi drags his sleeve to his eyes again, hating how his eyes grew heavy with the tears that escaped his sorrowful blue ones. With a tragic wound embedded in his heart, he spoke.
"I couldn't either."

A Baby Human
For @katelynn-a-fan as a part of @sanderssidesgiftxchange, and beta-read by @enby-phoenix. I really hope you enjoy!
Janus is a baby and the rest of the sides are *insert creature not human here* and they are protective and may or may not teach him some... unorthodox thing
Warnings: past/offscreen child abuse, Virgil is a spider-creature,
••^*^••
Roman let out a quiet sigh. Virgil hadn’t even said anything, but he could see his pinched, anxious look. “We’ll be fine.”
“I know we’ll be fine!” Virgil snapped, crossing his arms. “It’s just getting dark. And we don’t know what’s out here.”
“You’re the poisonous one! You don’t have to worry about anything.”
“Virgil is venomous,” Logan said calmly from his perch on one of the protruding spider legs on Virgil’s back.
“Yeah,” Virgil muttered, a hand lifting to pet Logan, which Logan reluctantly permitted.
Logan was, or rather had been, a witch’s familiar. After leaving the witch quite a few years ago, he had discovered Virgil, and stayed with him and Patton, and later, Roman as well. The witch still changed his shape every now and again in petty revenge for his choice to leave. As of a few days ago, he was in the form of a crow, though struggling somewhat to get used to it.
Roman turned to look forward. He wasn’t terribly worried, but the growing dusk would be a problem soon, if only for visibility’s sake. And if the moon came out, that would probably be less, rather than more helpful, with as close to full as it was. He’d really rather not have to deal with shifting.
But he’d been smelling odd things out here. And he couldn’t wait any longer to find out what was causing it, problems or no problems.
“If we get home late Patton will be worried,” Virgil muttered grumpily.
Roman heard a small sound, like something between a sigh and a quiet whine, and shushed Virgil. “It’s close now.”
The curiosity overrode the embarrassment he would usually feel at sniffing around, trying to find where and what the smell was.
“This way!” He yelled, bounding off through the brush.
Virgil was only just able to keep up with him, following down into a little gully. They both stopped short, seeing it at the same time.
It was a human. A baby human. Or at most, a toddler. Laying in a pile of leaves, and not moving other than shallow breathing. It was hurt too, though there wasn’t blood, bruises trailing over its entire left side.
“Is… is he ok?” Virgil asked tentatively.
Roman shrugged, staring helplessly.
Logan was the first to actually approach the baby, flapping noisily over to him and nudging him with his beak. The baby made a soft, weak keening sound, but didn’t open his eyes.
“He is likely in need of nourishment, as soon as possible. We should bring him back home and find something he can eat.”
Roman nodded, scooping up the baby. He wasn’t trying to hold himself at all, just laying limply in Roman’s hold. Roman carefully shifted how he was holding the baby, making sure to hold his head up.
They ran back home quickly, none of them very sure what to feed a baby, and hoping Patton would have some kind of answer.
Patton, being a dryad, instantly suggested tree sap.
Roman objected. “Patton, I don’t think a human—“
“You used to be a human. And you drink it.”
“Yes, but a baby, and a malnourished one at that—“ Logan said.
Roman silently agreed. It was nothing against Patton, it was just that sap was weak and watery, and wouldn’t the baby need something to help him get strong?
“No buts. I’ll get something better, just start him out with maple sap. He’ll need the water, and the sugar will be good too.” Patton insisted.
Logan let out an odd almost-sigh, but agreed. “Virgil, would you tap the tree?”
Logan went with Virgil, though not very far away. Roman was just left holding the baby, and not sure what to do, as Patton faded away, his shadow faintly seen flitting from tree to tree off into the distance. He felt awkward, and confused, and looked down at the baby, suddenly very aware of the way he was holding him, and wondering if it really was the correct way to hold a baby.
“There’s not a lot yet,” Virgil said, handing Roman a small waterbag made of webbing. “It’s not really the right time of year for it.”
Roman sat down. Apparently he was feeding the baby too. His curiosity sure did put him in strange places sometimes.
Logan landed on his shoulder. “Put the mouth of the bag into his mouth, and slowly tip it up. Keep going as he swallows, and try not to waste any.”
Roman tried following the instructions, but as soon as the liquid sloshed into the baby’s mouth, his eyes fluttered open, and he grabbed at the waterbag with weak floundering movements, batting and squishing the bag, fighting against Roman’s hold, trying to swallow as much as he could and hold the bag all by himself, which ended up spilling more than he drank.
“Logaaan, what do I do???”
“Take the waterbag away from him! You’re the adult here, don’t let him go and spill it.”
Roman pulled it away, and there was a brief moment of the most pitiful face he’d ever seen in his whole life, all wide, teary eyes and wobbly lip. And then the baby opened his mouth, scrunched his face up, and screamed.
“Here! Here’s another one, give it to him!” Virgil said desperately, holding out another bag.
But the baby was flailing, and Roman couldn’t get the bag into his mouth.
“What are you doing to the poor baby?” Patton scolded, setting down a large bowl and taking the baby out of Roman’s arms. “Shhh, it’s alright. Virgil, fill a bag with that. Quickly.”
“What is it?” Roman asked, his nose wrinkling. It looked like milk, but smelled distinctly plant-like.
But Patton was too occupied cooing to the baby and bouncing him gently. It seemed the correct way to calm a baby, rather than the fumbling Roman had been doing, and yet the baby only seemed to half agree, still sniffling with his face all scrunched up. Virgil handed Patton a bag of the milky substance, and Patton was able to pop the mouth of the bag into the baby’s mouth with little trouble. From there, it was only moments before the baby was happily and calmly drinking.
They all let out a relieved sigh together, hoping the peace would last.
••^*^••
It hadn’t been morning for more than a few minutes before it was clear that the peace would not, in fact, last. The baby was crying again, distinctly upset cries interspersed with babbled nonsense, and had pulled himself up to stand at the side of Roman’s bed, hitting at Roman’s arm.
Roman scooped the baby up, and the baby wailed, curling up in his grip. Oh! His poor side. Roman tucked the baby against his chest, rolling onto his side, careful not to hurt the baby’s side any more. He reached backwards, rummaging blindly for the dried meat he kept by on his bedside table this time of month, and popped the end of a sizable piece into the baby’s mouth. If he could crawl over to him, he could probably eat whatever meat he managed to gnaw off the piece.
The baby quieted quickly, biting and sucking the piece of meat, and showing off his few little teeth, holding it very firmly in his tiny hands.
“Look at you, all fierce, aren’t you?” Roman whispered.
The baby looked up at him, not relinquishing his grip on the piece of meat.
Roman smiled, letting out a soft, rumbling growl. “Are you killing that meat?”
“Uuu. Ugh. Ughh.” The baby said, little noises sounding probably about as fierce as a human baby could make.
“That’s right,” Roman said, again demonstrating a small growl.
The baby’s sound, while far from a growl, was clearly an attempt to copy him. And that made Roman feel far prouder and happier than he would have expected.
After a few more tries, it was clear that the baby was as close as he would get to growling with his little ughhh sounds. But he was copying Roman! And Roman couldn’t help smiling wide, growling at the little baby.
“What are you threatening the baby for?” Virgil asked, his tone slow and drawling, probably from being up far earlier than he usually would be.
But Roman’s joy couldn’t be dampened by Virgil’s grumpy teasing. “He’s copying me!”
“Oh? Are you secretly a werewolf baby?” Virgil asked, slipping into almost baby talk to address the baby instead of Roman.
“I don’t think he is,” Roman said.
“Should he really be eating that, then? I’m going to get some more of Patton’s milk stuff.”
“He loves the meat! Look at him all happy.”
The baby tried again to make a growling sound, and Roman melted. “You are, aren’t you? You’re very happy here with the meat.”
Virgil rolled his many eyes, but didn’t quite hide the fond smile before he turned away to get the milk.
And then Roman had to take the meat away, just for a bit, and the baby burst into loud wails immediately, flailing and hitting the bag of milk instead of accepting it. Somehow, Roman got the mouth of the bag into the baby’s mouth, but he seemed too upset to even realize it was food, and Roman didn’t want to choke him by tipping it up before he was ready.
“Shhh, it’s ok,” Roman said, feeling more lost with every cry. “Just drink your milk and I’ll give it right back, I promise.”
It was not the clean, easy feeding Patton had had the night before, but the baby hopefully got enough of the milk inside of him to be worth it, and quieted down again when Roman gave him the meat to gnaw on again.
Virgil sighed. “What are we going to do with him?”
Roman bristled. “We’re keeping him! Whatever humans he belonged to clearly didn’t care for him!”
“What if they did? He could just be lost, rolled down into the gulley and they couldn’t find him.”
Roman hugged the baby closer to himself. “Patton will agree with me. It’ll be two against one.”
Virgil sighed heavily. “I don’t want to fight about it. Just look for his parents? At least once?”
Roman very reluctantly nodded.
Patton suddenly sat up and shivered, his eyes wide, and a sound like wind in leaves coming from him. “Virgil! Virgil, help! There’s a spider on my tree! I know there is. Help!”
Virgil rushed to Patton, scooping him up and quickly running out of the house. Any spiders on Patton’s tree had to be dealt with immediately, or he would become hysterical.
They wouldn’t be back till afternoon, at least.
Which left Roman the sole caretaker of the baby.
Well, Logan had to be around somewhere, but there wasn’t much he could do to help other than give instructions.
The baby was happy though, gnawing away with his few little teeth and getting slivers of meat to gradually come off. He was also more than damp, and a bit sticky.
“Do I need to figure out how to bathe you now?” Roman asked.
The baby babbled some nonsense around his piece of meat, as emphatic as it was unintelligible.
“Oh, you have very clear ideas on how you’re taking a bath then, huh?”
The baby babbled again, so strangely close to normal words that Roman could’ve sworn he was saying ‘want some more’, except for the fact that he was currently very happy with a large piece of dried meat, and they were talking about baths, not food.
While he was still trying to figure it out, Logan flew in from the open window, flapping loudly as if he didn’t quite know how to use his wings properly and quietly. Which, to be fair, he probably didn’t. He’d only been a crow for a few days, and it’d been a good year since he’d last been in a bird shape. Or, Roman supposed, it could just be that crows were loud birds.
“How do you bathe a baby?” Roman asked Logan. “Just dunk it in the water? Do you need special soap?”
“I should hope you know better than ‘just dunking’ the baby into the water. That could be very dangerous. Though I believe the soap we have will be sufficient.”
“Well, then how do you do it? I only have two hands, and I can’t just wrap one arm around him without hurting his side.”
Logan made an odd sighing noise. “He can sit up on his own, just put him in something shallow, and steady him with one hand.”
The baby only just then noticed Logan, squirming around to look at him curiously. He made a little sound, reaching one hand out to make grabby hands at him.
“Aww, he wants to see you, Logan!”
“He does not. He wishes to touch me, which will mostly likely end unpleasantly.” Logan said primly, doing a little bird-shake that fluffed up his feathers and then smoothed them down again.
But the baby was still reaching, making noises and grasping in Logan’s direction.
“Oh, come on, you’d pass up the chance to be petted by a baby?”
“I do not enjoy petting in general, much less by one who is uncoordinated and almost certainly not capable of being sufficiently gentle.”
“Are you saying you’re scared of the baby?” Roman teased.
Logan fluffed up angrily. “That is not what I’m saying!”
The baby’s little grunts stopped, and Roman bent down to see that he was giving Logan the most pitifully large watering eyes. And then he cried. Great, heart-wrenching wails as he curled up and rubbed at his eyes.
“Oh, for the love of—“ Logan hopped into Roman’s lap, nudging at the baby with his beak.
The baby sniffed pitifully, but stopped crying, grabbing Logan as if he were an oversized toy. Logan ruffled up in annoyance, but submitted to the baby’s pats and intense babbling, just keeping his head out of reach of the tiny hands.
“Awwww, he likes you, Lo!”
And Logan couldn’t seem to muster up any disparaging words to join his grumble, which meant Logan liked him too. And Roman couldn’t help but smile.
••^*^••
“We’re back!” Patton said cheerfully. “Everything’s alright now.”
“Welcome back!” Roman said, holding one of the baby’s little hands as he toddled around. He couldn’t quite walk on his own yet, but he seemed close.
The baby looked up at Virgil, eyes wide and curious. “Ughh. Ughh!”
Virgil got a tiny grin he would probably forever deny as he scooped the baby up. “Are you growling at me? You can’t growl at me, you growl at Roman. With me you hiss, like this.”
The baby seemed to pick up the hiss even faster than the growl, though it devolved into spluttering raspberries half the time.
“Ssssssssa!” The baby said, almost triumphantly, and then grinned up at Virgil. Virgil melted. He tried to pretend he wasn’t, but he absolutely was.
“Awwwww!” Patton cooed. “Are you going to be so fierce? And so cute?”
The baby hissed at Patton, which just made him coo over him more.
••^*^••
It had been a few days since they found the baby. He was now firmly a part of their family, though they hadn’t agreed on a name yet.
The bruises seemed to be healing, or at least, changing. They were all confused to see the bruises morphing into a dark, mottling color. It was like nothing even Patton, the oldest of them, had ever seen on a human. It was strange, but it didn’t seem to hurt him.
They kept him safely in their little cabin, and he’d been sleeping mostly in Roman’s bed, until Roman could finish the crib he’d started making.
But it couldn’t last much longer.
“I’m worried, Pat. I’ll shift any day now, and what if I can’t recognize him anymore? What if I… what if I hurt him?”
“You wouldn’t do that, you’ve never hurt one of us.”
“But you’re all big! He’s so little, I could hurt him without meaning to.”
Patton’s mouth twisted as he thought. “Well, I don’t mind keeping him in my bed, but I don’t like the idea of you sleeping outside all by yourself.”
“I could be dangerous to him! I could bite him, or try to run off and hide him, or I could just step on him the wrong way and—“
“No, you wouldn’t, you’re very good as a giant dog.”
Roman frowned. “You guys know how to handle me.”
Patton frowned at him disapprovingly.
“And if it’s the middle of the night you might not be awake before I find him,” Roman continued. “Even if he just wakes up while I’m shifting, he could be scared.”
Patton’s frown deepened. “Alright. For this first time, you can sleep outside, and we’ll be really careful introducing you two, but I’m positive you’re still going to love him and be just as careful of him as you are now. And next time you’ll definitely recognize him, and you’ll be inside, with all of us.”
“Only if this time goes well.”
“It will. I’m positive it will.”
••^*^••
Virgil woke up to a loud whine and scratching at the door. The baby was sitting right in front of it, patting it and trying to push it open, and that must be Roman on the other side, whining to get in.
He picked up the baby, holding him carefully up on his shoulder, where Roman couldn’t reach right away, and then opened the door.
Roman bounded inside immediately, jumping up to see the baby, tail wagging excitedly.
“No! No, sit. Sit, Roman.”
Roman sat, but he was practically quivering with excitement, puppy eyes almost as effective as the baby’s were. And then the baby tipped forward, reaching and ‘growling’ at Roman.
“Alright, alright, I’ll let you see each other, but be careful.”
Virgil brought the baby down to Roman’s level, and Roman was immediately sniffing all over him, and then trying to lick the baby. Virgil nearly snatched him away, but the baby was cackling with laughter and patting Roman’s snout, clearly just as excited as he was. Virgil let out a relieved sigh. He’d just bathe the baby afterwards.
“Well, this seems to have gone well.” Logan commented, landing on Virgil’s shoulder.
“Patton will probably be mad to have missed it,” Virgil whispered with a chuckle. Once Patton was asleep, all awareness shifted to his tree, and he was dead to the world.
He tried setting the baby down on the ground, and Roman bounded all around, nosing and licking the baby while he giggled and tried to grab Roman’s ears.
Virgil sat down in the chair, still keeping a close eye on them. He would’ve thought that the baby might be scared of Roman’s over excitement. He certainly had been the first few shifts. But the baby seemed to be just as excited, laughing and trying to growl. And Roman didn’t even seem to mind when the baby really did grab hold of his ear and hold on tight.
Virgil should have kept a closer eye. Or guessed that something would happen. Or have sat closer. But he didn’t. He was just too relieved that everything was going well.
And so he didn’t react fast enough when Roman picked up the baby by his shirt and whisked him out the door, trotting away quickly and ignoring all cries of ‘wait, stop!’
Roman just kept going, and while Virgil caught up before he could really get away, the instant Virgil reached for the baby he let out a low growl.
“Roman!”
Roman flinched, and stopped, but still growled.
“Put him down,” Virgil said sternly.
Roman whined, but put the baby down. He did not, however, let Virgil get near him, standing over the baby and growling more whenever Virgil got too close.
Virgil sighed, and sat down, folding himself to be smaller. “Look, Roman, I’d never hurt him. You know I wouldn’t. I’m part of your pack as much as he is. Hand him back. I won’t take him away.”
Roman stood his ground, bristling up bigger, and even more menacing when Virgil was seated.
But the baby proved to be more helpful, crawling towards Virgil. Roman didn’t want to growl at the baby, and just watched, getting more panicked the closer he got.
Virgil sat as still and relaxed as he could manage, given the situation. “I’m not gonna hurt either of you, or try to separate you. Don’t worry, Roman.”
Roman whined when the baby climbed into Virgil’s lap, but the baby just babbled happily, sitting and patting Virgil’s legs.
Roman laid down, his snout resting in the baby’s lap.
The baby did his little ‘growl’, patting Roman’s nose.
Roman licked the baby’s face, and the baby giggled, tugging at his ears again.
“See? We’re all good.” Virgil said, gently reaching out to pet Roman’s shoulder.
Roman seemed to smile, and scooted a little closer.
They’d be alright.
••^*^••
“He needs a name,” Patton said.
Virgil looked to where Roman was asleep on the floor, the baby tucked into his side, happily sleeping against the warm fur. “Shouldn’t we wait till Roman can help us pick?”
“If we do that we’ll end up with a positively absurd name,” Logan said.
“I like Janus,” Patton said.
“Janus?” Virgil said. “Why?”
Patton shrugged.
Logan made a strange sound that wasn’t quite a sigh. “It appears we were going to end up with a strange name either way. Having said that, however, I am not opposed.”
Virgil shrugged. “Yeah, alright. I don’t mind it. It’s a bit weird, but so’s the kid.”
Patton grinned. “Then his name is Janus!”
••^*^••
“Janice???” Roman asked, practically wailing. “You not only named him without me, but you gave him an old lady name???”
“Not like that,” Logan said. “Janus. Like the old god.”
Roman pouted. “Well… that’s not so bad. But you still named him without me!”
Roman scooped up the baby, cuddling him close. “You are going to get an awesome wolf-name. And it’ll be a secret from these jerks.”
Virgil rolled his eyes.
Patton held out his arms, and Roman passed Janus to him.
“It would be good,” Logan said. “Before we get irrevocably attached, to attempt to find his parents.”
“It’s a bit late for that,” Roman murmured under his breath.
“I can come with you,” Virgil offered.
“What, right now?”
Virgil shrugged. “We might as well. We have time now.”
“... yeah, I guess so.”
••^*^••
When they came back the next night, they were extremely somber.
Virgil held out his arms, and Patton wordlessly passed him the sleeping baby. Virgil cuddled him so carefully and gently, folding around him protectively and lovingly, not even caring, like he usually did, that they were seeing him being ‘weak’.
Roman sat down heavily, watching the two of them with wide, shiny eyes. “He’s ours, Pat. We’re never, ever letting anyone touch him.”
Virgil let out a violent hiss, and Janus startled, his face scrunching, but didn’t quite wake up. “Never. No one gets to him past us.”
“What happened?” Patton asked.
Virgil just shook his head, tucking Janus closer to his chest.
Patton looked to Roman.
“It’s… better left unsaid. I think it’d be enough to say our guesses were right. He was cast out.”
“But he’s a baby!” Patton protested. “He can’t even talk yet.”
“And he’s ours now.” Virgil said firmly.
“He’ll never be hurt again,” Roman said. “Not as long as we can help it.”
Patton nodded.
“Can I hold him now?” Roman asked, reaching out.
Virgil looked very reluctant, but passed Janus to Roman. Roman also practically curled around him, cuddling him close.
There was a rustle as Logan, who must have woken up sometime, shook out his feathers and flew to Virgil’s shoulder. “I’m positive he’ll be safe and happy here with us, there’s no need to worry more about what happened before.”
Virgil nodded. Patton held out his arms for a hug and Virgil tucked close, seeming all small now. Whatever it was, it must have really been bad. Patton was glad it was over.
And he’d make sure it stayed over.
They all would.
