The Siren’s Song
Day 5 of @polyacotarweek Favorite Tropes (Sex Pollen and Mating Bonds 😉)
Pairing: Nesta/Cassian/Azriel | Rating: E | Word Count: 2667
Poly Week Master Post | Read here on Ao3
Warnings: Unadulterated smut. Sex Pollen Trope. Slight dub con
Summary: Nesta Cassian and Azriel go to the middle to investigate an illegal trade route that is involved in some assaults in the Court of Nightmares. But instead of a headquarters they stumble upon the very field that’s being harvested.
AN: This lovely fic Called I Pretend You’re Mine All the Damn Time by daycourtofficial is what reminded me of how much I love the sex pollen trope. If you like Az/reader and this trope, go read it.

“The camp is empty.” Azriel landed beside Nesta and Cassian.
She took in her surroundings; the small clearing with a few tents and a small campfire in the middle was indeed empty. They’d been tracking the trade route for a week and planned on ambushing them. Instead they found nothing.
“Maybe they knew we were coming.” Cassian crossed his arms. “Wasted all this time for nothing.”
“Or maybe something else found them first,” Nesta pointed to the tent on the right, which had the sides shredded.
She looked back at Cassian and Azriel, both shooting each other concerned looks. The Middle was not a safe place. Nesta knew that first hand. She walked over to the tent; she could smell something rotten- food it looked like. The tent was full of supplies left behind. Something definitely came here and took out the residents.
“Found a map.”
She moved out of the tent to see Az and Cassian looking over a large roll of paper. Az lowered it so she could look as well. It was a crude drawing of The Middle, some blank spaces with others filled in. A circle over an area in red caught her eye.
“Maybe they went there,” she pointed at the circle. “They marked it for a reason.”
“Wouldn’t hurt to check it out,” Cass looked to Az. He didn’t disagree. “Let’s go so we can head home. I’m tired of this spy shit.”
“It’s only been a week. Big baby,” Nesta teased.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The flight was short. Nesta held tight to Cassian as they flew. She too was ready for this to be over. The field seemed no different than any other they’d come across. Az signaled for them to land, Cassian following wordlessly. As they got closer the grass seemed to be speckled with white. It wasn’t until they landed that they realized the whole field was covered in small star shaped flowers.
No sooner than he let go of Nesta, placing her on her feet, Cassian began sneezing repeatedly. Nesta stepped back and yellow pollen kicked up around her feet.
“Don’t move,” Az said, his shadows flurrying about him.
“Why?” Nesta shifted and kicked up more pollen, making Cassian sneeze again.
“Stop Nesta,” Az panicked. Nesta and Cassian stood still as stone. “We need to leave. Right now.”
“Why?”
Cassian sneezed so hard his wings flew out. Pollen kicked up high, covering all three of them. Az cursed and he moved, pollen flurrying around him and his shadows. He grabbed Nesta and Cassian and pulled him into his shadows.
They reappeared at the House of Wind.
“We need to bathe this shit off, now,” Az beckoned them to follow.
“Azriel, what the hell is this shit,” Cassian tried to dust himself off. It only smeared on his leathers.
“It’s,” Az looked pained. “It’s Siren’s Dust.”
“What does that mean?” Nesta felt Cassian stiffen beside her.
“That shit is a myth,” Cassian snapped. He sneezed again.
“What does it do?”
Nesta watched Az tug at his collar, his shadows disappearing under his wings. Nesta didn’t realize she, too, was tugging at her leathers. Cassian scratched his neck beside her.
“We need to bathe and lock ourselves in our rooms until it gets out of our system.”
“Neither of you are telling what it is,” Nesta stomped over to Az and his wings flared out.
“Nes don’t,” he stepped back. She did not stop and Az couldn’t help himself; he grabbed her, shoving her against the wall. “Cassian, come get her out of here.”
Heat flared through her. She could smell his arousal and surprisingly her own. Azriel’s pupils were blown and he still looked pained. She wanted to kiss him. She looked to Cassian, he was walking to them and her gaze dropped down to the bulge between his legs. He was turned on too. Nesta let out a noise- a sigh and a moan. Az whimpered.
It clicked for Nesta what was happening. “It’s an aphrodisiac,” she panted.
“Yes,” Az said through gritted teeth. “We need to get it off of us and wait it out.”
Cassian stopped beside them. He too looked pained. But instead of grabbing Nesta, he gripped Az’s hair and pulled him up into a kiss. The two males sighed loudly as their lips met. The lightning of want shot through her and she almost fell to her knees. Azriel was the only thing holding her up. Cassian pulled back and rested it on Azriel’s forehead, both of them panting.
“Take us to the guest room,” Cassian panted. “The one with the shower.”
Az nodded and shadows enveloped them all once again.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Nesta had to be dreaming.
Her whole body was on fire and she was in the middle of Cassian and Azriel in the shower. She had to be dreaming. In what world would she be so lucky? Azriel’s hand was between her legs, rubbing her clit while she could feel his cock rubbing against her ass. All while she stroked Cassian’s and kissed him with her tongue in his mouth.
They’d long since washed off the pollen. They somehow managed to keep their hands to themselves until Az decided to grab her and lick at her neck. Now they were all moaning, trying to get each off. Az explained through heated kisses that it would take a while to wear off. He even tried to leave but Nesta and Cassian both weren’t having it.
She came first, those textured fingers making her pull away from Cassian yell as she clenched around nothing. Cassian and Azriel both groaned, Cassian coming all over her hand and Az on her back. She could hear the thuds of their wings trying to flare out, which made her laugh loudly.
That cleared their head but not by much. Just enough for them to rinse off and get out of the shower to dry. Nesta was putting her hair up when she turned to find the boys kissing again. Heat bloomed between her legs again.
“You two look like you’ve done this before,” her voice sounded as hazy as she felt.
Az pulled back, Cassian went for his neck. “We,” Az groaned, his cock hardening again. “We’ve fucked before, Nes.”
That made Nesta weak in the knees. “I want to watch,” she replied.
“No,” Cassian pulled away and gave her a look that made her cunt throb. “No, I think we want you with us.”
Thank the cauldron, the guest bed was huge. Az was tossed by Cassian onto the bed and Nesta crawled up between his legs. Gods his cock was pretty and everything she imagined. She didn’t ask as she took him into her mouth, both of their moans filling the air.
Nesta bobbed her head and hollowed out her cheeks when she felt the bed sink behind her. She pulled back, cursing as Cassian pushed into her from behind.
“Keep going, baby,” Cassian said, thrusting into her again. “I wanna see my good girl choke on his cock.”
She clenched around him- when was the last time he called her a good girl? She did as she was told, taking Azriel’s cock in her mouth and forcing it down her throat. Az let out a strangled curse and his hands went into her hair.
“So good, Nes,” Az panted. “Gods Cassian, she beautiful.”
“Wait until you see her ride you,” Cassian chuckled. He grabbed her hips to hold her still while he thrusted into her harder.
Nesta almost came at the thought of Az buried deep in her. She pulled back and licked up his length, swirling her tongue on the head. Cassian’s movements were getting sporadic. Something cold touched her clit- she looked between her legs to see a shadow swirling above as Cassian fucked her.
“I knew it,” she looked up to see a smug Az. “I knew you used them for sex.”
Az didn’t say anything but the shadow and Cassian hit her both just right that she squealed.
“Come on, pretty girl,” Cassian said behind her. “Come on my cock while you have Az in your mouth.”
She nodded and took Az back down her throat while she used both hands to hold herself up. It didn’t take much more for her to come, a muffled yell on Azriel’s cock making him come down her throat. Cass was right behind them both, thrusting deep into Nesta, spilling in her with his wings flared out.
Another brief moment of clarity passed between them all. She pulled her mouth off Az and he scooted up the bed looking sheepish. She wiped the seed and drool off her lips and Cassian eased out of her. He moved off the bed and she could hear him walk to the bathing room again, probably to get a towel.
“I’m sorry,” Az pulled his legs up to cover himself. “You two should go, it only lasts a few more hours I think.”
Cassian came back and wiped up the mess between Nesta’s legs.
“But I still want to ride you,” she said bluntly as she sat up on her knees.
“That’s the pollen talking,” Az shook his head.
Cassian laughed loudly. “No, Nesta’s been wanting this for a while.”
“I’ve had two males before.” Nesta couldn’t be bothered to be ashamed. “But they weren’t either of you.”
The pollen was hitting her again. Nesta could smell arousal spiking in the air and heat flushing her body again. She looked at Az with her piercing silver eyes.
“Do you want us to leave?”
“No,” he said immediately. “Gods no.”
“Then let me ride you. I want to feel you inside me, Az.”
Az cursed but lowered his legs, his length had hardened once again. She crawled over him and pressed her chest to his and kissed him. He tasted as good as she expected. His hands grabbed her ass, kneading the flesh and forcing her cunt to rub against his cock. She pulled back and reached between them, wasting no time sinking down onto him.
He felt so different from Cassian- longer but not as thick. Still it felt right. She let herself adjust, head falling back with a sigh. She didn’t notice Cassian crawl up the bed beside them. His wings were tucked in, his own cock hard and curled up to his chest.
“Okay pretty girl, show Azzie what you got.”
That first lift and drop made her wince. Az was longer than Cassian by only a small bit but it was enough to make a difference.
“You okay?” Az whispered.
She nodded. “I’m not used to the length.” Cassian busted out a laugh and Az’s cheeks darkened. “Just need to not overestimate it.”
She sat up straighter and did it again. It didn’t hurt that time. It was easy to find a rhythm, pleasure coiling in her stomach and thighs quickly. Az used one hand to cup her breast and pinch her nipple. The other reached over to stroke Cassian’s cock.
She watched one shadow come up onto her other breast, brushing her nipple and another slide down Az’s stomach to settle between her legs again. This orgasm was slower- not as strong but still made her yell when she broke, throbbing tight around Az. He and Cassian both groaned, Az coming inside her and Cassian spilling on his stomach and Azriel’s hand.
Another bout of clarity and another haze swept over them. They went slower the next round, Nesta on Cassian’s face, licking up their cum while Az rode him behind her. Another round with Nesta on her back, Cass inside her and Az inside him. Nesta stroked their wings at one point, finding all the spots that had her males singing. Hours later there wasn’t a position they hadn’t been in already.
Nesta herself was starting to feel sore and tired, the haze not taking her over like it had before. She laid between Cassian and Azriel, hot and sticky from sweat and other things. Az buried his face against her arm and pillow. Cassian was on his side, a hand resting on her sternum.
“I think it’s over,” Cassian murmured.
“Good, I’m tired,” Nesta closed her eyes. “I don’t think I could walk if we had to do another round.”
She felt Azriel stir beside her, and she opened her eyes to watch him sit up. He didn’t look at either of them.
“I’ll go clean myself up,” he whispered. His shadows seemed agitated as they flurried around him.
“Stay,” Nesta reached out her hand to grab his. She squeezed it tight. “We’ll nap and then clean up.”
Az didn’t move. His wings were tucked in tight. She knew what he was thinking and it made her ache in her chest.
“Please stay,” she whispered.
“I don’t think I can handle it,” he finally replied back, his voice cracking.
“What do you mean?” Cassian sat up on the bed and frowned. “Az don’t-“
“We did what we had to do.” He snapped. He turned and she could see the pain in his eyes. “Just let me go so we can get back to normal.”
“No,” Nesta squeezed his hand again. Her chest ached more. She sat up beside Cassian and looked Azriel in his eyes. “Stay with us. This- this can be our new normal.”
He shook his head. “But you’re mates. And I-”
Nesta didn’t know at that moment what came over her. She just knew Azriel needed to stay, that if she let him leave that bed- she moved to him and pulled him into a kiss. That ache in her chest eased and when he kissed her back something else tightened.
She pulled back with a gasp.
He shook his head with panic in his eyes. “That’s not-“ he looked past her and his shoulders hunched, like he’d been stuck in the chest.
Nesta turned to Cassian and his mouth was dropped open. Did that mean-
“Holy Mother,” Cassian let out a breath.
“It’s a trick,” Az said. She turned to see him shake his head. He tried to pull away and Nesta kept a grip on his arm. “It’s probably a trick of the Siren’s Dust.”
“Az, it’s not,” she shook her head. “Az we’re-“
“Don’t say it,” Az's voice broke. “Please don’t.”
Nesta could feel his grief and worry, a bond now present and wide open. She could feel Cassian too, his worry and love for Az pulsing on her end.
“We’re mates,” she whispered and tears fell down her cheeks. “We are your mates, Azriel.”
“But how?” He asked and looked between them. He watched Nesta let go and put her hand to her chest when he tugged it. “Two mates?”
Nesta felt Cassian shrug, moving on the bed to be closer to them both.
“We can have Amren or Rhys check,” he said, his tone soothing for the panic coming off Azriel. “It’s there. I would know, I have one. Gods, this whole time,” Cassian laughed a little harshly. “We were mates this whole time.”
“Why don’t we clean up,” Nesta offered. “We clean up and have a good nap. Together. Then we can talk about it.”
Az hesitated but agreed. They all got out of bed and cleaned themselves up. As she feared it hurt to walk, but she didn’t regret it. The House changed the sheets when they returned and Cassian was the first to pass out snoring. Nesta looked over at Az, his hazel eyes watching her. She reached out and took his hand, stroking her thumb over his knuckles.
“I prayed for a mate,” Az whispered in the dark. “I never got one. I thought the Mother had cursed me for being selfish.”
“I would know about being cursed, Az,” she whispered back. “We can be cursed together now.”
“We are if he snores like that all the time.”
They both snickered, even more so when Cassian let out a louder snore. Once they finally settled, she sent her love down the bond to Az. Just as she fell asleep she realized he sent her love back.

Now, here you were in a new town with strange locals who spoke in hushed whispers and cryptic retellings about glistening scales, glowing eyes, and haunting songs that echoed from the sea. You didn't believe them at first, but when you wake up on the beach one morning after having fallen overboard the night before, you can't help but think that maybe you hadn't imagine the strong arms and deep, green eyes of the man that had saved you. Broken the heart of a woman. Having broken the heart of the woman whom Davy Jones himself had fallen for six years ago, Jake is now cursed to live as something not dead, but not alive. He has no idea what it is, and he only had seven years to obtain it. (Pirate!AU)
Two Birds (Incomplete, Ongoing)
Growing up in the midwest meant that you weren't exposed to many of the dangers of the world, and it also meant that you missed out on some of what life had to offer. Taking a leap, you move to New York City with a few personal belongings and the little money you have left in your savings. You become good friends with your roommate and, by extension, the people at the club she works at. However, it isn't long until you catch the eye of not one, but two mafia bosses that rule the city with an iron grip. Will you stay out of their clutches, or will you give in and become another pawn in their wicked games? (Mafia!AU)
Road to Perdition (Coming Soon)
The Great Depression wasn't called a depression for nothing. Jobs were scarce, and the price of food and other necessities were rising higher and higher with each passing day. What little money you were able to make went straight to the bank and out of reach from your booze-swilling lech of a brother. It's on one such run that you come face to face with members of the infamous Dagger Gang; a group of, admittedly handsome, men who steal from the banks to hand it back out to the poor. You want nothing to do with them, but that blond-headed devil might just have something to say to the contrary. (1930s!Mobster!AU)
By Its Cover (Incomplete, Ongoing)
The frivolity of high society has never much interested in you. You preferred to spend your time reading, something your sisters couldn't fathom as they spent their time shopping the latest dress styles. The youngest of five children and the fourth daughter, not much was expected of you. You knew you might be married one day, but you hoped beyond hope that it would be to someone that might understand your intellectual pursuits. You begin exchanging letters with a mysterious stranger, and what's more, your older brother's rakish best friend seems to find himself in your path more and more as the season goes on. What's a girl to do? (Regency!AU)
Fortune & Glory (Coming Soon)
Jake Seresin was a well respected archeologist in the field, colleagues and strangers coming from far and wide to seek his expertise on various subjects. However, when an old friend barges into his lecture rambling on about the ten plagues and the Nazis, Jake finds himself thrust into an adventure he's not sure he's necessarily equipped for. He doesn't know much of anything when it comes to pre-Christian artifacts...but he knows someone who does. Will Jake swallow his pride and ask for her help, or will he try to go this one alone? (Indiana Jones!AU)
The Yawning Grave (Coming Soon)
You had always loved the stories your grandfather had told you about the "cunning folk," as he called them. You dreamed of a world beyond our own, but as you grew older, those stories faded into memory. Now, you're freshly graduated from college and on a trip to Scotland with your best friends. What you don't expect, however, is to gain the attention of a mysterious man or the wrath of the woman seemingly with him. You especially don't expect to find yourself in the middle of one of the old stories your grandfather had told you - one where you end up in a world that's not your own and with very few ways out. (Fairy!AU)

Tumblr media Tumblr media
You had known of the famous pirate that roamed the seas. You had followed him, watching from afar as he ordered his crew around. You watched as the many whorish human women tried and failed to gain his attention. Some only managed to get to his bed and were sent off the same night. You could see how dissatisfied the pirate was. As if he yearned for something more, something… Unique. You watched from the shadows. Your body is submerged deep in the cooling water. You knew that the humans had heard and created stories based on what you were, some even hunted you, and sometimes they succeeded in catching your kind. Your sisters had been taken, locked away to be experimented on.
You wanted the pirate. He was a dream. You wanted to claim him as your own. So you followed him the next morning, not getting too close to the ship as you didn’t want the others to spot you. You had a plan, knowing he sometimes ventured off alone once they reached land, enjoying time to himself. What better way to finally get what you want. You swam to shore, perching yourself on a rock away from the pirates but close enough to get the one you want to hear you. You waited until you heard him approaching the area, his mind elsewhere.
“Upon one summer's morning, I carelessly did stray,
Down by the Walls of Wapping, where I met a sailor gay,
Conversing with a bouncing lass, who seem'd to be in pain,
Saying, William, when you go, I fear you will ne'er return again.”
You watch as he turns to look in your direction. You can see him slowly fall under your spell as the words flow from your lips. You beckon him over, giving him an innocent smile as you don’t want to set off any alarms in his head. The pirate begins to make his way over dazedly, a lovestruck look in his eyes.
“His hair it does in ringlets hang, his eyes as black as sloes,
May happiness attend him wherever he goes,
From Tower Hill, down to Blackwall, I will wander, weep and moan,
All for my jolly sailor bold, until he does return.”
He stares, softly swaying as you continue to sing. Your siren voice makes the song sound smooth and seductive, calling to the pirate like water calls him. You sound like the waves crashing against the rocks and birds singing. You sound like perfection to Ransom. You were both a pirate’s dream and nightmare, all mixed in one. In the back of his mind, he knew he should try to fight this, that Ransom was in danger if he continued getting closer to you. He was captivated, his eyes taking in how beautiful you looked, your hair flowing freely in the breeze, your skin glistening against the sun, your breasts pushed together perfectly, and your tail was so close to perfection, the gold reflected wonderfully against it all.
“My father is a merchant—the truth I now will tell,
And in great London City in opulence doth dwell,
His fortune doth exceed ₤300,000 in gold,
And he frowns upon his daughter, 'cause she loves a sailor bold.”
Your voice travels, swirling around his head and pulling him closer to you. You were so close to finally getting the man you have been wanting. You grin as you reach your hand out and stroke his cheek, sighing a soft sigh as you finally feel his flesh against yours. He had to be the cleanest pirate out there, his face clean-shaven and his hair slicked back. You lean closer, your lips nearly touching his as you continue seducing him with your siren song.
“A fig for his riches, his merchandize, and gold,
True love is grafted in my heart; give me my sailor bold:
Should he return in poverty, from o'er the ocean far,
To my tender bosom, I'll fondly press my jolly tar.”
Ransom’s pupils enlarge, causing his blue eyes to nearly turn black. His eyes are half-lidded, and his gaze flickers between your eyes and your plump lips, feeling the deep desire to seal your words with a kiss. His mind was filled with love, wanting to take you far away from the other pirates, wanting you all to himself. His fingertips itched with needing to grab you and take you far away, keep you chained to his bed as he worshipped you.
“My sailor is as smiling as the pleasant month of May,
And oft we have wandered through Ratcliffe Highway,
Where many a pretty blooming girl we happy did behold,
Reclining on the bosom of her jolly sailor bold.”
A soft whine escapes Ransom’s mouth as you slowly slide off the rock and into the water, grinning as he begins to follow. He steps into the cooling ocean, and his shoes and pants become soaked. You swim back, continuing to sing to him. You were so close to achieving your dream, so very close.
“Come all you pretty fair maids, whoever you may be
Who love a jolly sailor bold that ploughs the raging sea,
While up aloft, in storm or gale, from me his absence mourn,
And firmly pray, arrive the day, he home will safe return.”
Ransom goes deeper into the water, coming closer until your bodies touch, and his hands move to cup your cheeks, stroking them with his thumbs. He sighs, falling deeper and deeper under your spell. No longer worried about the world around him or that he is in incredible danger, Ransom didn’t know that his crew had begun to look around for him, wondering where their Captain had gone for so long.
“My name it is Maria, a merchant's daughter fair,
And I have left my parents and three thousand pounds a year,
My heart is pierced by Cupid, I disdain all glittering gold,
There is nothing can console me but my jolly sailor bold.”
You are so close, your lips inches away from each other. You sing the last words of your song, knowing you finally have him in the grasp of your hands. Yours and Ransom’s eyes flutter closed as you are about to kiss. But before your lips can touch, there are shouts, men running toward the area you are in. Your eyes fly open, and you snarl. Your cat-like eyes snap to the pirates, hissing as they shout at you, their weapons raised. You look sadly at Ransom, his eyes opened and watching you, and you quickly launch forward, placing a soft kiss on the corner of his mouth before flying back and deep into the depths of the ocean. You quickly swim away as the pirates begin to throw their weapons and help pull their Captain out of the water.
Ransom shakes his head, snapping out of the trance he was in and looking out into the water. His men are talking, pulling him from the ground, but all Ransom can focus on is you. You had now taken over his mind, and he didn’t know if it was because of your siren qualities or you. His face sets into a scowl, growling at his men to return to the ship and leave him alone. Ransom shrugs them off, brushing the sand off his clothes and glaring at the water. He watches as your head pops up a ways away. He can tell you are looking in his direction, and the challenge has started. He knows you want him, but now he wants you, and he will stop at nothing to get what he wants. It’s how he is the better pirate out there. No one can tell him no.
Stories would be told many generations later about the pirate and the siren.

Captain’s Call
(A Pirates Smp au where Scott secretly siren hybrid but Sausage catches him. Inspired by Scott’s stream)
Scott thrashed and hissed as the damned net wrapped tightly around his body. He didn’t know what what happening until it was too late. A ship had snuck up on as he was hunting near the Faction Isles. A harpoon net was shot and engulfed him before he had time to react.
He felt himself being hoisted toward the surface as he clawed uselessly at the net, the rope too damn thick to cut through. Panic seized Scott’s chest as he was pulled out of the water and hulled over the edge to the deck of the ship. A Kestrel flag catches Scott’s eye through the net as the crew gathered around him. He hisses and snapped at the crew as they tried to touch his royal blue and golden scales, his ear fins pressed against his head, knowing he had to escape before his tail returned to his human legs.
Scott’s mouth when dry as the crew parted to reveal Captain Sausage, a large gleaming smile on his face. Sausage knelt down to the net and grabbed his chin through the net, jerking his head left and right.
“Well aren’t you the most beautiful siren I have ever seen!” Sausage giggled. “Just a perfect treasure to add to my collection!”
Scott’s cheeks flushed against his will, even if the words made a shiver crawl up his spine. Sausage was a handsome devil but everyone knew how possessive he was of his treasures. Don’t get Scott wrong, he would loved to be worshiped by Sausage but not like this.
Taking a deep breath, Scott opened his mouth to sing his song but was rudely cut off by Sausage picking him from the net and shoving a rope in between his jaws. He clicks and hisses around the rope in displeasure, struggling in his hold.
“Ah ah ah! No singing allowed! As much as I would like to hear your lovely voice, I would rather not drown today, thank you very much!” Sausage explained as he bridal carried Scott to his captain quarters, a tight grip on him preventing him from escaping.
Scott freaked out as he was placed on the bed, moving quickly, he tried to lunge at Sausage but was quickly subdued again. This time a metal collar around his neck, preventing him from moving from the bed. Sausage once finished, took a step back. His eyes scanned over Scott’s form, a smirk playing on his lips.
“You know, you remind me of a certain Heron captian.”
Scott’s blood turned to icy as he looked at Sausage with wide terrified eyes. No, Scott thought. He couldn’t possibly know. He was so careful! How the heck could he know! Scott’s breathing picked up a little fast once he felt a tingle go down his spine.
Oh no.
He was changing back. Sausage’s eyes seemed to gleam with excitement as his tail glowed, slowly parting into humans legs. His webbed claws turning to normal. His teeth shrinking down to barely noticeable fangs instead of his needle-like teeth. His ear fins shrink but still are fins, just less noticeable now. Thankfully his legs were clothed with pants.
Once his transformation was complete, Sausage strolled over and cupped Scott’s cheek, making him look him in the eyes.
“Well looks like I catch myself a real treasure.” Sausage purred as thumbed Scott’s cheek bone. “I wasn’t expecting to add a Heron to my collection but I can always make an exception for someone as special as you, Scott.”
Gay panic filled Scott as he blushed, frozen under the touch. Sausage continued.
“I mean, look at you. You’re just begging to be claimed as my treasure.” A possessive edge leaked into his voice. “So I’m gonna claim you here and now. Then you will be all mine and no one else can have you. Let’s hear you sing my name.” Sausage climbed next to Scott.
Scott gulped, having a feeling he was in for a long night.
~~~~~~~~~
Scott grumbled as he limped through the town of the Faction Isles, shirt missing, showing a mass of marks on his chest and neck. Sausage following behind him with a cheeky expression on his face, clearly proud of his work. If anyone questioned the two, Scott would glare at Sausage and the other would just giggle, saying nothing.
Azul's Story & Prologue | Floyd's Story
Tumblr media
As a young mer, Jade would often listen in to what people had to say about soul matches. He would humour Floyd, and listen to him ramble about what his song and pull was like. For his twin, it felt like someone tugging at his tail playfully, and his song was like that of fireworks and twinkling stars in the night sky. It suited him; playful, full of wonder. And if Jade were to be honest with himself, he would admit that he was jealous of Floyd. That he knew, but didn’t want to admit, since then those jealous feelings would only continue to grow until he snapped out, and he didn’t want that to happen.
“What about yours, Jade,” Floyd drawled out the question, peeking up from behind the bed. “Ya never share what it feels like for you. I wanna know about the lil siren song stuck in your head!~”
Jade put down the book he was reading and looked at his brother, pursing his lips into a slight frown. “You wouldn’t find it interesting, there isn’t anything to really say about it,” he sighed.
Floyd didn’t like this answer, and tugged at his brother’s tail fin rather harshly, threatening to tear at the caudal fin. “That’s not fair! I told you mine,” he whined. “It’s only fair if you share yours! We could even help each other out and hunt them down together!”
For as much as he enjoyed his company, Floyd could be as persistent about a topic he deemed as interesting as he was flippantly annoying at times. “Well,” he smacked Floyd’s hand away, smoothing over his caudal fin, “if yours is like a starlit sky, then mine would feel like a moonless, and starless one.” Void of any light. Void of any sound. Nothing but a gaping darkness where there should have been light. “Happy?”
“Hmmmm,” Floyd shrugged his shoulders and sank to the floor, busying himself with whatever had caught his eye. “Not really, but you’re being boring. Eh, whatever! When we find ‘em it’ll get twice as interesting.~ OH! Maybe one of them is a surface dweller! I wonder what their reaction would be to us!” He threw the toy he was playing with at his moping brother. “But you don’t need to worry, Jade, I won’t leave the sea!”
Jade sighed. He had only spoken about the lack of any sign that he had a soul match with his father. Not that he didn’t want to tell his mother, but he knew that she would take it harder than his father would. And saying that it was like the darkness of night without any light source was technically accurate, but Floyd didn’t have to know about this quite yet. He would tell him eventually, just… not right now.
. . .
The Leechs’ father could tell when something was off with Jade. He may have been good at hiding it from his brother, and masking from his mother, but the older eel-mer recognized that look well enough.
“Thinking about it again,” he asked, putting down some paperwork that could always wait. “You know, you can always talk to me, Jade.”
The younger eel-mer looked up towards his father, debating whether or not he wanted to reveal everything that has been weighing so heavily on his mind. “Is,” he paused, worrying over his lip with his teeth, “is there something wrong with me?”
Mr Leech got to his son’s level, and put a hand on his shoulder. “Nothing is wrong with you,” his voice was stern, but he knew that what Jade needed was reassurance, a steady anchor in the churning sea lest he be lost in it forever. “Some merfolk don’t have soul matches, and that is perfectly fine and normal.”
Jade opened his mouth and then closed it, eyebrows pinched.
“You have yourself, and you are enough as is. There is nothing wrong with you, even though at times you may feel that there must be.” He looked into his eyes, placing a hand on his cheek. “Also, you are in control of your life, Jade. You will form all kinds of different relationships, and you don’t need a soul match to determine that for you or determine your happiness or success in life.”
Jade rubbed at his nose and placed his hand over his father’s. “Thank you, dad,” he whispered, as if he was any louder than that, all of those emotions inside would burst.
His dad pulled him in for a gentle hug, “And whenever you have a bad day, just remember that. And that you’ll always have me, your mother, and your brother.”
“I will.”
. . .
. . .
. . .
Jade was busy doing his morning routine. Taming down his hair, fixing up his uniform, and making sure everything was in order; that his courteous and carefully crafted mask was on. Since it was better to keep the less… appealing parts of himself away from the public eye. But the most difficult part of the morning has had yet to pass, waking up and dragging Floyd out of bed. Both of the mers were not morning people, but it was all a part of the experience of living on land and attending one of the best mage schools that Twisted Wonderland had to offer.
He opened up the blinds, letting in the weak sunlight. “Time to get up, Floyd,” he hummed, poking the mass of tangled bedsheets with one of his brother’s shoes that had managed to get on his side of the dorm.
A golden eye glared out from beneath the sheets before turning back over. “Jus’ five more minutes,” Floyd groaned, pulling the sheets over his head to block out the light and his brother’s smug face. “Too earlyyyyy!”
“Tsk, tsk,” Jade tutted, grabbing the blankets and pulling them off, earning a loud groan and a tired yet irked look from his sleepy twin. “We both know that’s a lie. Now,” he grabbed a wayward lanky leg, yanking him out of bed, “up we get.” When did he get so heavy?
Floyd fell on the ground with an oomph, and shot his twin a venomous look. “Ugh! Fine,” he grumbled, rubbing his backside and making his way to the bathroom to freshen up. “Do ya think there’ll be any interesting guppies?~” He poked his head out, fighting with his uniform since over the break he had a growth spurt.
Jade quirked a brow, looked over at Floyd and motioned for him to get back in the bathroom and fix his appearance. “The probability is high,” a sharp smirk graced his face, “especially since it means that we should have the chance to… manage those who fail their end of Azul’s little contracts.” He noticed in the reflection of one of his terrariums that his tie was crooked, leaning in, he fixed it. “That should be entertaining enough.”
“Eh heh heh!~ Squirming like a worm on a hook,” Floyd sang. He continued to busy himself with looking at least ‘halfway presentable’ by Azul’s standards, humming his and his soul match’s song under his breath, a dopey smile on his face.
Jade could feel his mood sour a tad, but reminded himself that he shouldn’t be jealous of Floyd. Besides, he has fared well enough thus far without a soul match. He had his interests, his brother, an Azul to annoy and pester, and an entire world to explore still. New discoveries to be made. Plus, he had recently made a new terrarium and he could see the beginnings of new growth about to burst forth. He was content. Not happy, but content with what things were currently. He gently picked up one of the smaller terrariums, noticing it was looking a bit dry and in need of some extra water. As he was putting it back in its proper spot though, he froze, hand clenching the little glass in a vice grip.
He could hear singing. It was quiet, but it was still singing. And now it felt like the time that a foolish fisherman had gotten one of his lures in his fin, being pulled towards someone. The glass shattered, sending small flecks of blood and glass on his glove and the floor. But he ignored the stinging of his fingers and palm, all he could focus on was the song and the insistent tugging at his heart.
. . .
Jade had made it his personal mission since recovering from the shock of the sudden soul match, to make the singing in their head as loud as possible. To annoy them as much as possible. They had kept him believing for all these years that he was alone, so now they could deal with the consequences of their actions. Was it petty? Extremely, but Jade did it for another reason; if he was loud enough, eventually they would either seek him out to make the internal assault stop, or he would see them wince and he could make their life a personal hell in person. And he knew they were nearby, as the pulling at his soul felt the strongest when he made his way through the halls of the school. He could just follow the tugging, but he didn’t want to chase them down. He wanted them to seek him out.
Something irked him about this whole situation. And it was the fact that even though the singing in his match’s head was intolerable, thanks to him, the song in his head has yet to retaliate, still the pleasant background hum that it was on the first day. He has only heard it go up in volume a handful of times, but never to the volume of his. The tugging during those short outbursts, feeling like he was caught in the strongest gyre of his life, even though he was still on land.
“Jade, are you paying any attention?” Azul quipped at him, snapping his fingers to bring the plotting eel out of his thoughts.
Jade shook his head, centering his thoughts to the present. “Ah, my apologies, Azul, my mind must have drifted elsewhere. Could you repeat what you just said?” He got caught up thinking about them again, and he bristled. Why should he afford them the luxury of even thinking about him?
Azul sighed and pushed up his glasses. “I said that due to the full moon next week, I won’t be able to look after the Lounge or dorm affairs. And we can’t just go about and hand over these duties to just anyone. So in short, the Lounge will be closed during the day and open all night.”
Ah, so that was what he wanted. “Is that your long winded way of saying that we will all be working midnight shifts,” he looked down at Azul, eyes searing.
“Azul is so meannnn,” Floyd appeared from seemingly nowhere, and tossed his arm onto Jade’s shoulder. “He doesn’t want to even find his cuttlefish! So mean, even to your soul match,” he bemoaned.
Azul flushed blue at the pet name that Floyd had apparently dubbed his soul match, embarrassed. “I told you not to call them that,” he hissed, quiet enough so that no passerby was able to easily overhear. “Besides, only those who have found there’s or,” he glanced at Jade, “well nevermind the or. Those who still haven’t found their soul match won’t have to work the night. So stop your whining!”
Floyd rolled his eyes and got off of Jade. “Eh, still mean. Maybe finding your cuttlefish will change that?~” He leaned into Jade’s ear, making sure that Azul couldn’t overhear him. “Maybe his soul match will put him in his place.~”
Azul’s eye twitched, “Do you want me to put you on dish duty?” Whatever he was whispering was sure to give him a migraine.
“Do you want to buy new plates,” Floyd’s joking aura turned into something more menacing. He and Azul stared at each other for a few moments before Floyd apparently got bored. “Tch, whatever.” And he was off, as suddenly as he had appeared, slinking into the crowd of students that quickly got out of his way, lest they wanted his sudden mood swing to be directed at them.
Azul pinched the bridge of his nose, “So, technically you will be in charge of the Lounge this week.” Since you don’t have a soul match you have nothing better to do. He didn’t need to say it, but Jade could feel and infer the implication, and his left eye twitched slightly.
He mentally smoothed himself down, hiding the momentary glimpse of weakness, of the mask slipping off. “Of course,” he voice was clipped, “you can rest assured that the Lounge will be properly kept to your standards.”
Azul gave him a look, but just summed up Jade’s odd behaviour as just a Jade thing. The eel-mer was never the easiest to read, even on the best of days. “Just no funny business, and do not turn the entire menu into mushroom dishes,” he huffed. He didn’t want to hear that revenue had been impacted by Jade’s hyperfixation on fungi.
“Half of the menu,” Jade bargained, sending a mocking polite smile towards Azul. Seeing him send him back a glare, he continued. “Afterall, Azul, you’re leaving me in charge. Part of that position includes overseeing the menu for the week. Besides, it would only be half. That should be a fair enough trade; you get to look for your match, I get a say in the menu.”
Why did the twins insist on giving him a headache at least once a day? “Fine, but only for this week,” he gave in. Jade pulled his weight in both his Lounge and vice-house warden duties, so he would give in to the eel’s demands this once. Besides, he wanted the same as Floyd; to find his soul match this year.
Jade chuckled, “Pleasure doing business with you, Azul. Please do keep me updated with how looking for your… What did Floyd call them? Ah, your cuttlefish, goes.” And he walked off before Azul could give him an earful of whatever it was that he was going to tell him. Perhaps staying at the Lounge should keep him occupied from thinking too much about his match.
. . .
. . .
Ever since arriving in Twisted Wonderland, a song has played in your head. The first hour wasn’t horrible, just faintly playing in the corners of your mind. Sure it was annoying, but it was tolerable. But the faint humming soon turned into an assault, and you felt like you were standing next to the speaker in a concert. So, needless to say you were willing to do almost anything to make it stop. You’ve had a damn headache for weeks and no amount of this world’s version of Advil, Tylenol, or ibuprofen worked. How you haven’t snapped yet still eludes you, and you wanted answers. Now.
Ace and Deuce were of little help, just giving you weird (Ace) and concerned (Deuce) looks. So you took it on yourself to get to the bottom of why this infernal song is playing on repeat while on full blast. This, naturally, led you to the library to hunt down some answers. Any students that rounded the corner you were in were quick to walk in the opposite direction, noticing the quickly building mountain of books, and increasingly irritated muttering.
“AHA!” You shouted, finally finding something that looked halfway promising. A series of hissed hushing came your way but you shrugged it off, happy to finally find some answers.
“Humans may come down with peculiar symptoms should their soul match be of a different clan.”
Soul match?
“The most distressing of these symptoms can be found with those whose match belongs to the merfolk clan. As, until they find each other, they will feel like someone is pulling at them when there is in actuality, no one there. Some humans have also complained about the song that plays in their head, as some soul matches will purposely cause their song to be loud, as to remind their soul match that they are still out there. Waiting to meet them.
A song rests in the heart, calling out to the one who completes the harmony. Their match pulls at them, as the moon does the tide.”
So this song that’s been driving you mad for weeks is due to your soul match? Someone who was picked by the spirit of one of the Seven; someone who makes you happy through a familial, platonic, and/or romantic relationship. Well two can play at that game. They messed with you for weeks, gave you headaches and migraines for weeks. The least you could do was to return the favour in full force. Bring it on, motherfucker.
. . .
Jade woke up, hissing. The faint humming in his head had exploded into loud screaming, but not out of pain or fear. No, it was spite and pettiness. Looks like his soul match finally had enough of the onslaught in their head, or finally figured out that they could control the song in his head. He would have been amused, finally feeling his match break their composure and disturb the harmony, but not in the middle of the night. Not the day before he would be forced back into the water during daylight hours and only being able to come out during the night.
He glared up at the ceiling, gritting his teeth in annoyance. He really should have seen this coming, after all, he had been doing this to them for weeks, never once letting up on the deafening song. It was no use going back to sleep now, even if he tried. His soul match was too loud and angry to be ignored. Sighing, he pulled himself out of his sheets, spared a look at Floyd to make sure he was asleep, and went to the Octavinelle pools to try and cool off.
Slipping into the water, he shifted into his merform. The song was still loud as ever, but the coolness of the water helped take some of the pain away. He could always apologize through the song in their head, but he wasn’t going to back down from this battle. So he fired back, louder than them. It’s only fair.
The scream of the song halted for a second, and Jade smiled to himself, letting himself sink to the bottom of the pool. But that feeling of victory was short-lived, as the singing returned, this time hitting him like the sonar of a sperm whale, loud enough to make his eardrums rupture. He hissed in pain, letting his singing in their head cease, falling into something not as loud, but still noticeable. And as soon as it had started, the singing in his head changed to match the volume it was for them. What you do to me, I’ll do to you. Is the message he guessed they were sending.
Still in pain, he decided to lessen the volume in his soul match’s head to a pleasant humming, and they soon did the same for him. And so, he sat at the bottom of the pool, looking up into the faint blue filtered light from above, and let his soul sing for him. It conveyed loneliness, jealousy, hurt, confusion. Everything that has plagued his mind, all of the things he kept bottled up, was sung and put out into the open.
The singing in his head changed too, they were also confused, lost, and unsure what any of this meant. Nothing was said, but the emotion carried through. Both of them were like that for a while, humming their emotions and thoughts to each other. This continued until the slivers of sunlight filtered through, and cast their golden beams into the water.
Another set of mismatched eyes peered down from above, noticing that his brother was singing, finally singing for the first time. Floyd memorized the lyrics, and he swam silently to the other side of the pool, letting his brother be, and coming up with a plan.
. . .
. . .
. . .
Someone was knocking insistently at your door. You grumbled, rubbing the sleep out of your eyes. Whoever it was might want to have a good reason to wake you up from the dead of sleep. The song in your head hummed, like it was chuckling at you. You sent a sharp note through their head in return. The knocking persisted, threatening to take the door off its hinges if you didn’t hurry up and open it already.
“I’m coming, I’m coming,” you yawned, cracking the door open so you could at least put a face to the intruder before letting them in. “Floyd?”
The person knocking at your door at this ungodly hour was none other than Floyd Leech, looking way too chipper for this time of night. “Heyya, Shrimpy!~” How could he still have all this energy at this hour? “Come on,” he grabbed you by the arm and dragged you behind him without explaining any further in typical Floyd manner.
You dug your heels in, but it didn’t stop him. “Where? It’s night time, I wanna go back to sleep,” you protested, sending him a groggy glare. Either you could walk with him, or he would get tired of pulling you along and throw you over his shoulder.
Floyd decided to actually answer your questions for once. “We’re going to the Lounge, silly Shrimp!~ Silly, silly Shrimpy,” he said, still tugging you along behind him.
“Why? And why couldn’t you let me change into something else,” you pointed down to your sleepwear. “Also, I thought the Lounge wasn’t open this late?”
“Eh, Azul wanted to still ‘make some revenue’ and ‘benefit from matches finding each other and wanting to share some food together’ so the Lounge is open at night this week. Come on, hurry up! I wanna go bug Jadeeee!~” And up you went, there was no use in protesting or fighting him, so you accepted your fate as the eel’s human tote bag.
You sighed, and hummed the little tune of you and your soul match under your breath. The song in your head hummed along, harmonizing the melody. You couldn’t see Floyd’s face, since you were currently getting a great view of the ground passing by, but he wore a large and smug smile on his face as he quickly made his way to the Mostro Lounge.
. . .
The Mostro Lounge was quiet, a few new soul matches occupying some tables and chatting, and the small waitstaff team going around and seeing if they wanted anything from this week’s limited menu; The Moon’s Harmony. Jade stood behind the counter, making sure that everything was going smoothly while Azul was out. And so far it was, although it was the first night, but so far so good. During moments when there were no customers, Jade would test the waters with his match, letting the song go up in volume until they retaliated. He would shake his head and silently chuckle to himself, ears still ringing from the other night from when they had enough with his petty shouting in their head. They had some spunk, he’d give them that. It was quiet tonight in his head too, his match most likely asleep at this hour, so he was surprised to hear the annoyed grumbling in his head.
He decided to get cheeky, since things were pretty boring on his end, and he received a sharp note in return, making him wince. Even when half-awake they could still tell him off. He went into the back and busied himself with cleaning up a few dishes, letting his mind wander about. The pulling at his soul was the strongest this week, and he wanted to follow it, but he still wanted them to find him. For them to make the first move. For them to choose him. Sighing, he put the plate he was working on to soak in the sink.
The line pulling at him went taut. The singing in his head getting louder, but not from his match willing it to. They were close, closer than ever before. He exited the back, and came to stand behind the counter, looking out for any familiar or new faces. Still the same customers as before. Strange, he could have sworn that-
“Jadeeeeee,” a flurry of teal hair burst through the door. “I missed youuuu!~” Floyd sang, but Jade just cocked a brow at his brother’s entrance. “Also,” he tossed you onto a sofa, “I brought Shrimpy with me!”
Jade glanced at you, noticing that you were still in your pyjamas. “Ah, hello, Prefect,” he said in his usual polite and proper way. But his mind was elsewhere, the pulling and singing at the forefront of his mind. “Strange for you to be up at this hour, no?”
You straighten yourself out, and suppress a yawn. “Hi, Jade. Wasn’t really my choice,” you shot a look at Floyd, “I was just dragged along for the ride.” The singing in your head was also getting louder, and you felt like you were being drawn towards a magnet. Where are you?
Floyd’s eyes kept on going between you and Jade, and a frown formed on his face, apparently not happy with the results that he got. “I could’ve been out searching for my match, but Shrimpy is just so much fun when they get mad,” he flung himself across your lap, effectively trapping you there. His eyes shone, and he sent a wink at you. “Say, what’s that song you’ve been humming, huh, Shrimpy?”
“It’s nothing,” you state, knowing that once Floyd found out you had a soul match, a mer no less, that he would make your life a living hell… Well, more so than he already did. And you didn’t want both Floyd and Jade on your case or interfering with you or your match’s lives.
This interested Jade, who was still watching from the counter. The song in his head sounded annoyed, and tired. “Nothing you say,” he stayed where he was, watching your reactions carefully. “Do you know of soul matches, Prefect?”
You kept a neutral expression, “Just some of the basics.” The song in your head was curious, something must have caught their attention.
“But Shrimpy, you have a song in here, don’t cha?~” Floyd pointed to his head, and pointed to your’s. A shit-eating smile took over his face, “You have a soul match!!!~ Shrimpy and a mer, sitting in a tree-”
You pushed Floyd off of your lap unceremoniously, hoping he wouldn’t finish the rest of that lyric. He shot you a look, but rolled his eyes and got up from off the ground. “Well maybe if you leave me alone for a minute I can go find them,” you muttered. “And no,” you spat, “you aren’t invited.”
Jade seemed satisfied with this, and went back to see if anything needed to be looked after. Come find me, he sang in their head.
But what about choosing? You sang back.
He looked back out, noticing that both you and Floyd were gone. Choosing? That can come later, we haven’t even met yet. Or at least I don’t believe we have.
You were being dragged again by Floyd, this time to the pools. Where can I find you?
Jade sighed, loosening his bowtie. Just follow the song. Follow your soul. Then you will find me.
. . .
. . .
You were floating in the Octavinelle pool, trying to relax. Tring being the main word, as Floyd was hell bent on spending time with you tonight. Not to mention, through the exchange of your song, your soul match has been loud, not to the extent of the first weeks, but still loud enough where they couldn’t be ignored.
Find me.
Floyd splashed you, trying to get your attention, masking the extra ripples from someone else entering the pool, and hiding your form from them. “Shrimpyyyy,” he whined, “come on! Sing your song! I won’t tell anyone! I’ll even sing you mine!” He swam up next to you, “Maybe that will help you find them.”
Find me. “I need to find them on my own, Floyd,” you sigh, knowing it was true. Find me.
“Eh, you’re boring,” he sighed, and dived down into the depths, disappearing.
You swam over to the side of the pool, feeling like you were being drawn down, your song the loudest it has ever been. Find me. Taking a deep breath, you centred yourself and dived down, following the pull and the song, only coming back up for quick gasps of air.
Meanwhile Jade was stretching out his tail, and humming his song. He felt something tugging at him from above. Looking up he saw a figure breaking the surface. Find me. The pulling was from them. They had actually come looking for him. But he stayed where he was, watching from below.
You took in a few short fast breaths before taking in one last large one before diving down again. Find me. The singing was loud, the pull guiding you to the bottom of the pool. There, you could see a figure. Find me. You feel your lungs start to burn, but you had to reach them. As you continued down you finally saw each other. Two oh-so familiar mismatched eyes glowed from the depths, and Jade’s skin was glowing faintly from his own bioluminescence.
Jade looked back at you, despite being out of your element, and in your pyjamas, he looked at you in wonder. He snapped himself out of his own thoughts though and hauled you up towards the surface, where you promptly gasped for air, and coughed out a bit of water. He waited for you to catch your breath, patting your back gently. Not saying a word, waiting for you to make the first move.
“I found out,” you coughed, looking at him, finally feeling like your soul had found home.
Jade wiped some water from your face, “I’m glad you finally did.”
. . .
Bonus!
Floyd watched from below, “Heh, took them long enough. Welcome to the family, Shrimpy.”
The thundering waves are calling me home to you The pounding sea is calling me home to you. On a dark New Year’s night On the west coast of Clare I heard your voice singing Your eyes danced the song Your hands played the tune T’was a vision before me. We left the music behind and the dance carried on As we stole away to the seashore We smelt the brine, felt the wind in our hair And with sadness you paused. Suddenly I knew that you’d have to go Your world was not mine, your eyes told me so Yet it was there I felt the crossroads of time And I wondered why. As we cast our gaze on the tumbling sea A vision came o’er me Of thundering hooves and beating wings In clouds above. As you turned to go I heard you call my name. You were like a bird in a cage, spreading its wings to fly “The old ways are lost” you sang as you flew And I wondered why.
The thundering waves are calling me home to you The pounding sea is calling me home to you.
more siren au stuff because I am trying to accumulate a playlist and went for Loreena McKennitt in search of folksy music I love - and I found the perfect song for inspiration. <3
Songbird - Ch. 2 - Echoes of Stardust
Tumblr media
Summary: After a disheartening audition failure, Valerie Pedretti finds herself in a Las Vegas bar, nursing her first-ever alcoholic drink and wallowing in self-pity. The night takes an unexpected turn when she's noticed by Elvis Presley's right-hand man and whisked away to a private party hosted by the man himself.
Word count: ~4,000 Warnings: Alcohol consumption, implied infidelity, mild sexual content.
I slumped onto a crimson velvet barstool, elbows thudding against the lucite armrests. After that disastrous audition for Frank Sinatra's chorus line, all I wanted was to crawl into the nearest hole and disappear. Figures I'd royally screw up my one shot at making it big. Typical Valerie luck.
The bartender, a suave older gentleman in a crisp white jacket, glided over. "What'll it be, miss?"
"Gin and tonic. Make it a double," I muttered, massaging my throbbing temples. What was I even saying? I never so much as drank a lick of alcohol in my life, but I figured it was as good a time as any to start. God knows I needed something stiff to dull the sting of rejection.
As he busied himself, I replayed the audition in my head. My usually reliable pipes had been shakier than a newborn foal, and I'd flubbed the steps. The smirks from the other hopefuls had said it all–I was way out of my league. Some nobody from Chicago, trying to rub elbows with seasoned Vegas performers? I must've been out of my mind.
The clink of glass snapped me out of my reverie. I snatched up the drink and took a hefty swig, wincing at the biting fizz. Awful. But at least the hotel bar had booze heavy enough to give me a buzz, even if this trip was turning into a spectacular failure.
I was about to take another sip when a shock of ginger hair caught my eye across the room. It couldn't be… but there was no mistaking that towering build. Red, Elvis Presley's right-hand man himself, larger than life and heading straight towards me.
"Well I'll be damned," he boomed. "If it ain't that pretty little songbird from the elevator."
I nearly spewed my drink. He remembered me? More importantly, he remembered that ludicrous pet name Elvis had bestowed upon me?
"Uh, hi there," I stammered. "Fancy seeing you again."
Red just chuckled. "You clean up real nice. Mr. Burrows know you're here drowning those sorrows all by your lonesome?"
My cheeks flushed at the mention of him. Truth be told, I hadn't been able to stop thinking about our electric encounter. The velvety timbre of his voice, the scorching intensity of his gaze, the way his presence made the air hum... it was enough to make a girl go weak in the knees. But I sure as hell wasn't about to admit that to Red.
"Oh, I'm sure he has more important things to worry about than little old me," I said breezily. "I was just about to call it a night."
"That so?" Red's grin turned sly. "Well, it just so happens the boss is having a little private soirée up in his suite right about now. What do you say we head up there and turn that frown upside down?"
My heart seized. An invitation to Elvis's inner sanctum? It was an unbelievable stroke of luck. Or a supremely bad idea. Probably both. I gnawed my lip, trying to quell the dizzying swirl of anticipation and trepidation.
On one hand, the chance to spend more time basking in Elvis's orbit was tempting as all get-out. I could feel that dangerous pull, the siren song of his star power luring me in. But on the other hand, the man was married and a known womanizer—the last thing I needed was to get tangled up in that mess, no matter how electrifying his smile.
Red cocked a brow at my dithering. "Clock's ticking, honey. You in or out?"
Oh, what the hell. Throwing caution to the wind had always been a specialty of mine, and it wasn't like this night could get worse. I tossed back my drink and wobbled to my feet.
"Lead the way, Red. Let's see what the fuss is about."
His smirk said he'd sniffed out my burgeoning fascination with his boss, but I lifted my chin and sailed past. The die was cast, for better or worse. I was about to enter the point of no return.
The journey to Elvis's suite passed in a blur of nerves and Red's idle chitchat. I was only half-listening, too busy trying to calm the riot of butterflies in my stomach. What was I thinking, waltzing into Elvis's suite like some groupie? This was bound to end in disaster.
But it was too late to turn back. Red was already rapping on a mahogany door. I sucked in a breath, bracing myself for whatever lay on the other side.
The door swung open to reveal none other than Elvis himself, a vision with tousled midnight hair. His full lips curved into a heart-stopping smile when his molten gaze landed on me, sending a shiver of awareness skittering down my spine.
"Well well well," he drawled, his voice dark honey and sin. "Looks like Red went and rescued a little lost songbird."
I fought the urge to swoon right then and there, mentally cataloguing all the reasons why getting involved with Elvis was a terrible idea—starting with the wedding band gleaming on his finger.
"Good to see you again, Mr. Burrows," I somehow managed to say without squeaking. "I hope I'm not intruding."
He chuckled and waved a dismissive hand. "Nonsense, sweetheart. Any friend of Red's is a friend of mine. Come on in and make yourself at home."
He stepped back to allow me entry, his burning gaze never leaving my face. I could feel it like a physical caress as I crossed the threshold into the opulent suite, my skin prickling with goosebumps. Oh, I was in trouble all right. The kind of trouble a good girl had no business inviting.
The suite was unlike anything I'd ever seen—a palatial sprawl of crushed velvet and gleaming marble, dotted with larger-than-life portraits of religious iconography and pastorals. The irony of a bible placed in full view on a sideboard was not lost on my in the face of such decadence. Every bit of the place screamed “decorated by a rock star.” It was like stepping into a shrine to all the things Elvis loved. And the man himself was holding court right in the center of it all.
Elvis reclined on a throne-like armchair, looking every inch the royal in tight black slacks and a shimmering silk shirt unbuttoned to reveal a tantalizing glimpse of tanned chest, gleaming gold pendant trapped in a thicket of black chest hair. I gulped. A tumbler of amber liquid dangled from his elegant fingers as he nodded along to something a stunning blonde was cooing in his ear, her ample curves poured into a dress so short it was practically indecent.
I suddenly felt very small and very out of place, a sparrow amongst preening peacocks. What was a nobody like me doing in a place like this, rubbing elbows with music royalty? I didn't belong here. I was just about to mumble my excuses and bolt when another bombshell sidled up to Elvis, this one a sultry brunette with bedroom eyes and a dress slit up to there. With detached amusement, I decided to name her Colette. Colette the Brunette.
"Oh Elvis," she purred, trailing a perfectly manicured nail down his chest. "Won't you take me for a ride on your big... Cadillac later?"
I wanted to gag at her obviousness, but Elvis just chuckled indulgently. Like an emperor amused by his concubines.
"We'll see, darlin'. We'll see," he drawled, shooting her a wink that had her practically panting.
I tore my gaze away, my cheeks burning. Get a grip, Valerie, he's clearly in high demand. Time to face facts and get out while you have a shred of dignity left.
I was about to do that when a raspy voice caught my attention. "Hey there, little lady. You look like you could use a drink."
I turned to find a member of Elvis's Memphis Mafia grinning at me, a drink extended in offering. He had a friendly face, all dimples, and I found myself taking it just to have something to do with my hands.
"Uh, thanks," I mumbled, taking a fortifying sip. Whoo boy, that packed a punch. "I'm Valerie."
"Sonny West," he introduced himself with a wink. "Couldn't help but notice you looking a little lost over here. First time in the lion's den?"
"That obvious, huh?" I cracked a rueful smile. "I feel like a kid playing dress-up at the grown-ups' party."
Sonny chuckled, clapping me on the shoulder with a hand the size of a dinner plate. "Stick with me, then. I'll show you the ropes."
And just like that, I found myself swept up in the whirlwind of Elvis's inner circle. Sonny introduced me to the rest of the Memphis Mafia—Jerry, Lamar, and on and on until my head was spinning with names and faces. They were a rowdy bunch, all loud laughter and inside jokes, but they welcomed me heartily.
Before I knew it, I was deep in a heated debate with Lamar about the merits of biscuits versus pancakes for breakfast.
"Biscuits, hands down," I argued, waving my drink for emphasis. "Fluffy, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth heaven. Pancakes are just flat, boring discs."
"Blasphemy!" Lamar clutched his heart in mock outrage. His ample gut wiggled from the sudden movement. "Pancakes are the pinnacle of breakfast perfection. Stackable, customizable, drenched in syrup...what more could you want?"
"Y'all are both wrong," Jerry chimed in with a sly grin. "Waffles are where it's at. All those perfect little syrup traps? Unbeatable."
We dissolved into bickering, and I found myself having more fun than I'd had in ages. These boys were a hoot, and their easy camaraderie was infectious. For a little while, I could almost forget I was way out of my depth.
But reality came crashing back in the form of Elvis's chuckle cutting through the chatter. I looked over to see him still holding court, the blonde I named Miss Priss on one knee, Colette the Brunette draped over the other. They fawned all over him, batting lashes, and he ate it up with that slow smile. Something bitter twisted in my gut.
I knocked back my drink in one painful swallow. What was I doing here? Elvis had more than enough adoring females—he didn't need some starry-eyed idiot mooning over him. It was time to cut my losses and bow out. At least I would have a hell of a juicy story to tell Deena when I got home.
I was just about to make my excuses when the room hushed. I glanced up to find myself ensnared by devastating blue eyes. Elvis was coming right for me, his gaze hot and intent, and I felt pinned like a butterfly on a board.
"Valerie." Just my name, but the way he said it, all dark velvet and honeyed sin, made my knees turn to water. "C'mere, pretty girl. Let's you and me get better acquainted." Colette the Brunette sighed, exasperated, and got up from the chair.
I was moving before I even registered it, pulled in by the sheer magnetism of him. Miss Priss shot me poisonous glares as I approached, but Elvis never took his eyes off me. He crooked a finger, beckoning me closer, and I went as if in a trance, powerless to resist the siren song of his voice, his eyes, his everything. I’m fucked.
"Hi," I breathed when I was finally standing before him, close enough to catch the spicy-sweet scent of his cologne mingling with the citrusy notes of his Brylcreem. God, he was even more breathtaking up close, all chiseled features and smoldering charisma.
"Hi yourself." Elvis smiled slow as he looked me over, his gaze lingering in all the right places. "You know, I was hoping I'd see you again."
I briefly wondered if he said that to every starstruck girl he encountered, but the intensity in his eyes made me want to believe it. Dangerous, Valerie. Remember the ring on his finger. Do not fall for those honeyed words and bedroom eyes.Easier said than done.
He patted the space beside him. "Take a load off. Stay awhile."
I had a feeling he wasn't just talking about sitting. That look promised something far more intimate. A shiver traced my spine as I perched on the edge of the sofa, close but not touching.
"I don't usually do this," I blurted, my nerves getting the better of me. "Follow strange men to their suites. I'm not...that kind of girl."
Great, announce to everyone that you're out of your depth. Elvis would probably pat me on the head and send me on my way now.
But to my shock, his eyes softened with something almost like tenderness. "I know you're not, honey. Believe me, I know." He reached out, tucking a curl behind my ear with a gentleness that stole my breath.
I fought the urge to lean into his touch like a flower turning its face to the sun, desperate for more of that drugging warmth. "You don't even know me."
"Maybe not." Elvis's fingers drifted down, trailing along the racing pulse in my throat. "But I'd sure like to."
I'd been warned about men like him, all smooth words and smoldering eyes, tempting good girls to stray from the straight and narrow. But sitting there with his burning gaze consuming me whole, his fingertips branding my skin, I was powerless to resist the pull. Is this what I'd been missing this whole time?
I was Alice, tumbling headfirst down the rabbit hole. Pandora, unable to keep from opening that forbidden box. A fool blinded by stardust, sealing her fate with one trembling breath.
"I think," I whispered, damning myself with every word, "I'd like that too."
Elvis's smile was pure sin and satisfaction, a fallen angel getting exactly what he wanted. He leaned in close, his lips brushing the shell of my ear and making me shiver.
"Then let's get to know each other real well, Valerie. I have a feeling you and me are gonna make some beautiful music together."
With that promise shimmering between us, Elvis took my hand and led me deeper into his lair. And I, god help me, followed, come what may.
He guided me through the throng, his hand warm around mine. I could feel the weight of curious stares following us. But Elvis paid them no mind, his attention fixed on me as he brought us to a gleaming black piano.
"You play?" he asked, eyes glinting with challenge and something softer.
I ran my fingers along the smooth keys. "A little. My dad taught me before he passed."
Elvis's gaze gentled, understanding passing between us. "Music's in your blood. Like me."
He slid onto the bench, patting the space beside him. I hesitated a moment before joining him, our thighs pressing together. Elvis shot me a grin, his fingers flying over the keys in a jaunty tune.
"You know 'Heart and Soul'?"
A laugh bubbled out of me. "Who doesn't?"
We began to play, our hands moving together, the notes weaving in harmony. Softly at first, barely audible under the chatter, Elvis began to sing, his voice honey-smooth.
"Heart and soul, I fell in love with you..."
He glanced at me expectantly, a playful smile at the corner of his mouth. How could I resist? Taking a breath, I joined my voice with his.
"Heart and soul, the way a fool would do..."
Our voices blended together seamlessly. I could feel the room hushing around us, all eyes drawn to the spectacle. But lost in the melody and Elvis's presence, I couldn't bring myself to care.
We continued, the lyrics taking on new meaning as our gazes locked and the air grew thick.
"Madly... Because you held me tight..."
Elvis's eyes burned into mine, his voice lowering intimately.
"And stole a kiss in the night..."
My heart stuttered and my fingers faltered. Lord, the way he looked at me, like he wanted to devour me whole...
Elvis turned to me, our hands stilling. For a suspended moment we just stared, caught in the gravity of this thing spiraling between us. I felt flayed open, exposed, like he could see straight into me.
Carefully, he lifted a hand to brush my cheek, his skin igniting sparks against mine. "Valerie," he murmured, my name a caress.
I couldn't breathe past the band constricting my chest. The world narrowed to just us, charged with possibility. Elvis's eyes dropped to my parted lips, a muscle ticking in his jaw. I could feel the force of his desire, the effort it took to hold back.
"Elvis," I whispered, leaning closer like a moth to flame. Damn the consequences.
Colette suddenly appeared at Elvis's other side, plunking her glass down on the piano. She placed a manicured hand on his arm and attempted to draw his attention.
"Elvis, baby, I'm parched. Won't you fix me a drink?" she cooed, batting her lashes.
For a second I thought he might actually take the bait. I wouldn't blame any man for it, really. But to my shock, Elvis just smiled politely and gently extricated himself from her grasp.
"Not right now, darlin'. I'm a bit busy at the moment," he said, shooting a meaningful look my way.
Colette's pretty face twisted in an ugly scowl as she glared daggers at me. If looks could kill, I'd be six feet under. But Elvis paid her no mind, already turning back to me with an apologetic quirk of his lips.
A thrill shot through me at the realization that he'd chosen my company over hers. That even surrounded by all these gorgeous, willing women, it was still me he wanted to talk to, to sing with. It was almost too heady to believe.
Leaning closer as if conspiring, Elvis murmured so only I could hear, "I gotta say, you sure know how to captivate a man's attention, songbird. Ain't too many gals out there who can tear me away from a pretty face batting her lashes my way."
I could practically hear the steam coming out of Colette's ears as she flounced off in a huff. I bit back a smile. "Well, what can I say? I have many hidden talents."
"That you do. That you most certainly do." Elvis's eyes smoldered as they raked over me appreciatively. "Now where were we?"
We picked up right where we'd left off, fingers dancing over the keys in tandem as we slipped back into the easy flow of the music. And just like that, as if no interruption had occurred, we were once again lost in our own private world, the chemistry between us crackling and undeniable.
As Elvis and I continued to play, lost in our own little world, I suddenly caught a flash of movement out of the corner of my eye. Glancing over, I spotted Red and Sonny, engaged in what appeared to be a heated argument.
Sonny was gesticulating wildly, his drink sloshing precariously in his hand, while Red stood with his arms crossed, shaking his head emphatically. I couldn't make out what they were saying, but their body language screamed "agitated."
I nudged Elvis gently with my elbow, nodding towards the pair. "Looks like trouble in paradise over there. What do you think they're arguing about?"
Elvis followed my gaze, a slow grin spreading over his face as he took in the scene. "Knowing those two? Could be anything. Whose turn it is to do the hamburger run, which one of 'em Nancy Sinatra liked best, who'd win in a fight between Godzilla and King Kong..."
I bit back a laugh. "My money's on Godzilla. Fire breath beats brute strength any day."
"See, I'd have to go with Kong," Elvis countered, his eyes sparkling. "He's got those opposable thumbs, that's a game changer."
We both turned back to watch Red and Sonny, who were now poking each other in the chest like a couple of overgrown schoolboys. Elvis leaned in close, his breath tickling my ear as he lowered his voice conspiratorially.
"Five bucks says Sonny throws his drink in the next minute."
I grinned, unable to resist the challenge in his tone. "You're on. I say Red puts him in a headlock first."
We shook on it, our hands lingering perhaps a moment longer than necessary. Then we sat in eager anticipation, watching the drama unfold.
Suddenly, in a move straight out of a slapstick comedy, Sonny gestured so emphatically that his drink went flying... right into Red's face.
For a moment, everyone froze. Then Red let out a roar and lunged, grappling Sonny into a headlock as he flailed and sputtered.
Elvis and I took one look at each other and burst into hysterical laughter, clutching at each other as we gasped for breath. Tears streamed down my face as we hooted at the ridiculous scene, our shared mirth drawing curious glances from the rest of the party.
"I guess... we both win... that bet," Elvis managed to wheeze out between guffaws, his arm warm and solid around my shaking shoulders.
A throat clearing sharply behind us shattered the moment, sending us reeling apart like repelling magnets. I blinked dazedly, surfacing from the undertow of Elvis's gaze to find Lamar smirking down at us.
"Hate to interrupt you two, but the natives are getting restless." He jerked his head toward the crowd of partygoers, all watching us with avid, speculative eyes. "Big Man’s here, E." Kirk Kerkorian, the owner of the International Hotel, had made it up to the 29th floor to speak to his star headliner.
Elvis dragged a hand down his face, looking distinctly frustrated. "Duty calls, I suppose." He shot me an apologetic glance, his fingers giving mine a fleeting squeeze before he stood. "Don't go anywhere, alright? I'm not done with you yet."
A shiver chased through me at the dark promise in his tone. I could only nod wordlessly, my voice lodged somewhere in my throat, as he allowed himself to be pulled back into the fray.
I watched him work the room, all megawatt charisma and effortless star power. He was a master showman, born for the spotlight. At a certain point, a group of older women were let in and he graciously signed all of their memorabilia. But every so often, his gaze would cut back to me, heated and heavy with intent. A reminder that I was the true focus of his attention, even as he played to his adoring acolytes.
Overwhelmed and more than a little shaken by the intensity of our connection, I decided to take Elvis's absence as my cue to slip away. I needed some space to clear my head, to process the dizzying events of the night away from the intoxicating force of his presence.
As much as I wanted to stay, I knew this could turn out to be a very bad idea. Elvis Presley was about to ruin me. If I let myself fall any deeper under his spell, I might not be able to find my way back out. And with my heart and dreams on the line, that was a risk I couldn't afford to take.
So with a heavy heart and a longing glance over my shoulder, I quietly extracted myself from his view and made my way back to my room. I'd pack my bags, get some much-needed rest, and then pour my heart out to Deena once I was safely back home, far away from the magnetic pull of Elvis's charm. If nothing else, the past two days' events would make a hell of a story.
It was the smart choice, the safe choice. But as I walked away, each step heavy with regret, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was leaving something precious behind. A chance at something rare and wonderful, slipping like stardust through my fingers.
Keeping to the edges of the room, I managed to exit the suite without drawing attention to myself. The relative silence of the hotel hallway was a balm to my frayed nerves as I made my way to my own room. My hands were trembling as I fumbled with the key, my mind awhirl with Elvis's heated looks and the phantom sensation of his touch on my skin.
I'd barely gotten the door open when I heard hurried footsteps behind me. Heart leaping into my throat, I whirled around. Only to come face to face with Joe Esposito, Elvis's right hand man.
"Valerie, wait!" He jogged up to me, slightly out of breath, his hand outstretched. "Boss man wanted me to give you this before you disappeared."
He pressed a small slip of paper into my palm. Glancing down, I saw it was a ticket… to Elvis's show tomorrow night. Front row seat, VIP access. I looked back up at Joe, startled.
He grinned knowingly. "Elvis requests the pleasure of your company tomorrow evening. He'd like you to be in one of his private booths."
I gaped at him, stunned speechless. An exclusive invitation to the Presley show, the hottest ticket in town? To watch from one of his personal booths? It was an honor bestowed on only his most inner circle...certainly not on some starstruck nobody he'd just met.
"I...wow. I don't know what to say," I stammered, clutching the ticket like a lifeline.
Joe chuckled. "You don't gotta say nothing, sweetheart. Just show up and knock his socks off like you did tonight." He gave me a friendly wink. "Wear something pretty. Elvis likes his girls dolled up nice."
With that bomb dropped, he turned on his heel and sauntered off, leaving me gaping after him. I looked back down at the ticket, running my thumb over the embossed lettering.
Elvis Presley, larger than life and twice as magnetic, wanted me in his booth tomorrow. Wanted to see me again. It was the stuff of dreams and fairy tales, the kind of thing that didn't happen to girls like me. And yet... Squaring my shoulders, I tucked the ticket carefully into my purse and slipped into my room. As I began my nightly ablutions, I couldn't stop the giddy smile from spreading across my face. How foolish and naive of me. But also, how very curious.
Ready or not, I had tickets tomorrow. I had to extend my stay, if for nothing but to see what all the fuss was about. And come hell or high water… I was going to knock his socks off, just like Joe said. But before I could do that, there was the matter of having nothing beautiful to wear...
I could see Azriel calling Gwyn his siren.🧜🏻‍♀️🐚 (I want a scene of him calling her “priestess”)
oh my god this is perfect. it starts as a retaliation of sorts for her use of shadowsinger, and they both use these terms with juuuust enough bite like, "good morning, shadowsinger. try to actually keep up with me today." his eyes narrow "you worry about your sloppy footwork, priestess, and maybe then i'll take your advice."
as their relationship progresses i can see him calling her his siren in such a loving way. maybe something like, "your song sings to mine, my siren." a kiss, on her chest, "berdara." another kiss, this time higher, on her collarbone, "gwyneth." again, the kiss is higher, reaching her neck this time, "my gwyn." finally his lips capture hers and they lose themselves in the feel of being pressed against one another
--
Ballister lifted himself up onto the rocks and sang, his brilliant black tail flicking the water beneath. It was the curse of the sirens that they should be forced to sing, forced to lure the sailors who would linger among them, enraptured, until succumbing to starvation on the barren seabanks of their island. The sirens did not wish to see their beloved muses suffer for them, but if any ship was able to resist their call and pass them by, or if any sailor managed to leave their island, they would all dissolve into the salt of the ocean. So he sang with his brothers and sisters, as beautifully as he could, desperate to lure any ship that came within earshot of their island, to preserve his family. Siren voices carry for well over a mile.
Just as usual, the ship crashed on the rocks and the surviving sailors were thrown to the sea below. They would need to retrieve them. Of course it would be easier to just allow the sailors to drown, but just as the sailors were enraptured by the sirens, so too were the sirens captivated by the sailors. It was nice, sometimes, to have their company, but in addition to that, sirens could not reproduce with one another. To keep their island alive, they needed to rescue the humans.
Diving below the sea, Ballister saw what appeared to be the Captain, based on his attire. He was young to be a captain, with blond hair that whipped and floated in the water. Ballister wrapped his arm around him and carried him to the surface, ushering him to the rocky shore.
Canals ran through this island of boulders, allowing the merfolk to interact with their human pets for however long they had. There was some freshwater springs, but no food. Sirens didn't need to eat.
He rested his hand on the Captain's chest and pressed until all the water was out of him. The man coughed and sputtered. He met Ballister's eyes. "You. Were you the one singing, with the beautiful voice?"
Ballister cradled his head and smiled. "I was singing with my brothers and sisters. We each have our own song. They harmonize when we sing together, but each one is a melody on its own."
The captain blinked. "What was your song?"
Ballister opened his mouth to sing softly. The man's eyes widened. "That's it! Your song is the one that I heard!"
Ballister blushed. "You only heard mine? We were all singing."
"I heard the harmony when we got closer. You all sounded lovely. Are you a mermaid? Or a siren?"
"I'm a merman," Ballister said with an annoyed albeit amused lilt. "But I am also a siren. They're the same thing, you know."
"Oh." The man looked over the stones and into the water, his eyes widening as he caught a glimpse of Ballister's tail. "You don't look like you'll try to eat me."
Ballister laughed. "We don't eat sailors! We don't need to eat. We live forever, unless we are killed or captured. I am a Guardian, I protect the island. You seem to be a pirate, but you don't look like you're going to brutally pillage me."
"Heavens no!" The Captain laughed nervously. "We aren't those kinds of pirates. I was the heir to a corrupt, powerful fishing company. They were exploiting their sailors and stealing from the public, so I rounded up some sailors and now we take down their fishing boats. We don't hurt anyone, we recruit those who want to join us and bring the rest home. Anyway, do you all have names?"
Ballister snorted. "Yes, and mine is Ballister."
"My name is Ambrosius. Hello, Ballister." Ballister just smiled and nodded. They weren't supposed to remember the humans' names. It made things too hard.
The siren's eyes widened when a warm hand, with a skin far more textured than his own cupped his face. "Has anyone told you that you are so beautiful, Ballister?"
He blushed and sank a bit deeper into the water. "I am frequently told I have a lovely voice."
"No," said the human-- the Captain-- Ambrosius. "That's not what I mean. Your voice is beautiful, but that's not what I mean. Something about your eyes. You're just the most gorgeous person I've ever seen. Not something I thought I'd ever say washed up on a boulder to a half-fish man, but I mean it."
Ballister laughed, but something inside him twisted. The siren's seductive magic lies solely in his song. He cannot keep a human captivated unless he is singing. He wasn't singing, but this man still looked at him with that look in his beautiful almond eyes.
Ballister had already decided that this human was going to be his. But now, he was starting to feel sure that he didn't want to let this one go.
(cw: brat reader, self destructive reader, asphyxiation, minor gojo satoru x reader, past satosugu, implied yandere getou suguru if you squint, dark content if you squint)
getou suguru is going to kill you.
it's your first thought when you walk onto the grounds of his compound. when you feel the barrier ebb and shake, your technique rendering it useless for just a moment. a clear, noticeable cut you've left him.
'i'm back, baby.' it says. it's a siren song for someone with a temper like his.
you don't bother going to the main building. you splay out on a bench nearby, light a cigarette, and wait. suck down smoke and let it billow in the cold. you leave your pack and lighter next to you, and offer it with an open palm the moment getou suguru graces you with his presence.
"honored and revered one," you praise, voice sickly sweet. you stand and bow, cigarette high as you head goes low. "would you do me the honor of sharing a smoke?"
Tumblr media
"i thought you'd left."
"hm?" you ask, a cheeky smile tugging at the corner of your lips. you light his cigarette. "whatever do you mean?"
he takes a drag, an odd thing to see when he's in his full monk get up. "you disappeared."
"i had work to do."
"'work'?" suguru's expression twist, something venomous lighting his eyes. "you hardly do work around our precious home— what dragged you off so far?"
you feel his cursed energy thrum. the angry loud kind that makes blood speed in your veins. you want to eat him whole.
"well." you smile a viper's grin. "satoru gojo still has my number. he got drunk. booty-called me. and i answered."
"did you now?" his smile feels wicked at the corners. you revel in it. "satoru doesn't drink."
"he does, actually. apparently he has a tradition of getting shit-faced on his ex's birthday." the cherry burns close to the filter. you're sure getou won't mind if you indulge in another. "and... yesterday was february third."
the silence of the compound is deafening. you swear even the tree birds have gone quiet in the hills, the river song silenced even as getou suguru stares you up. you imagine he's pondering whether or not to kill you.
"sorry to pick up your scraps." you light another, exhale in his face. "you've been busy lately, dear. i got bored."
"bored?" he laughs, cackles. there's cracks around the edges of him, you revel in them. what you wouldn't give to crack him in your own hands. "fucking an old bedmate of mine is how you satiate such a feeling?"
"absolutely." you want to split him.
suguru's cursed energy fluctuates, so quickly you don't have a chance to try and sidestep or avoid him.
"must i keep you on fucking leash for you to behave?"
a whip-like cursed, thin and covered in eyes, flicks and cuts the air. it wraps around your throat and you dare not to touch it. you can feel the poison of its half-flesh already seeping into you.
"really?" you ask, voice breaking. "isn't this excessive? i pwomise i won't ever fuck your ex behind your back again. though, satoru did seem pretty hurt, still, and i think he'd be down for a three-way—"
the cursed tightens and drags you down in to the ground. your knees hit pavement and you don't even have the air to spit an insult at suguru. always so childishly physical with his reprimands. your grin hardly wavers the curse drags you forward, on your knees at his feet.
suguru's expression is unreadable. you like that you've stumped him. rubbed at wound that isn't new or raw, not even festering, just healed wrong. the glee of it is exhiliharing.
he holds the cigarette to your lips and you take a drag.
"it would do you well to learn some manners, i suppose." getou sighs and exhales a lungful of smoke into your face. "if you'd like to paw for scraps like a dog, then i'll treat you like one."
he grabs a fistful of your hair, pain sparking at your scalp and you wheeze out a laugh.
"as if you don't already treat me like your l-lapdog already." your words break at the end, vision wavering at the edges.
you enjoy this too much, probably. getou suguru is a well-veiled man and finding his weak points has become your mission in your time within 'his family'. your technique is indispensable to him, both of you know it, and thus you know you have more rope than the rest of your 'kin'. you use it well. poke him. prod him.
force him to expend a curse on you, just to get you on your knees. the power you wield over him makes you dizzy. the ability you have to get under his skin is yours alone, and both of you know it. you think he hates you for it sometimes. sometimes, you think its why he loves you.
you know, later, you'll regret such thoughts. you'll be sore and aching and unable to sit properly and you'll wonder if it was a good idea to return to the compound while still dripping with the cum of jujutsu world's god. you'll consider that, perhaps, you've pushed getou suguru too hard.
you suppose, as suguru presses his lips to yours, bites at your lip until you're bleeding— it's best to save your regret. suguru is the most fun when he's angry, wounded in a way that he couldn't possibly be sane about.
so instead, you let him lick the blood from your lips, suck in air when the leash lets up (just enough)— if you've truly pisses getou suguru off enough to have him consider ending your life, you might as well enjoy the high of it.
DC characters/moments as Tortured Poets Department songs/lyrics bc i have a light concussion and am very bored (in the album's chronological order)
(disclaimer before someone is triggered- some of the lyrics are taken out of context or interpreted differently than what they actually mean. this is just for fun don't come for me. also this gets pretty angsty towards the end so proceed with caution)
"I was supposed to be sent away, But they forgot to come and get me"- tim drake very obviously bc neglecting parents/boarding school
"I love you, it's ruining my life"- early harleen quinzel about joker
"My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys"- the whole song is just harley quinn idc (pre-harlivy of course)
"Now I'm down bad, cryin' at the gym"- nightwing def cried at the gym at some point
"I stopped tryna make him laugh, stopped tryna drill the safe"- dick grayson about bruce after moving out of wayne manor
"You swore that you loved me, but where were the clues? I died on the altar waitin' for the proof, You sacrificed us to the gods of your bluest days"- remember the whole selena leaving bruce at the alter thing? yeah
"I'd rather burn my whole life down, Than listen to one more second of all this bitchin' and moanin', I'll tell you something 'bout my good name, It's mine alone to disgrace"- I'm just getting red hood vibes from this no specific reason
"Now, pretty baby, I'm runnin' back home to you, Fresh out the slammer, I know who my first call will be to"- almost every gotham rouge to batman right after escaping arkham/prison. especially joker, catwoman and riddler lol
"At the park where we used to sit on children's swings, Wearing imaginary rings"- this one specific panel of tim and steph
Tumblr media
"And this city reeks of driving myself crazy"- everyone who's ever been to gotham
"All my girls got their lace and their crimes, And your cheating husband disappeared, well, No one asks any questions here"- it's giving gotham city sirens
"Am I allowed to cry?"- maybe it's just me but i thought about clark kent discovering he had different biological parents and grieving about them even though the parents that actually raised him are alive and well
"So I leap from the gallows and I levitate down your street, Crash the party like a record scratch as I scream, "Who's afraid of little old me?", You should be" red hood's debut
"The scandal was contained, The bullet had just grazed, At all costs, keep your good name, You don't get to tell me you feel bad"- jason todd about the whole making batman choose between him and joker at the end of under the red hood
"You wouldn't last an hour in the asylum where they raised me"- this is 100% Bane bc he was born and grew up in prison for a crime he didn't even do!! also cassandra cain and damian wayne
(^this is actually the lyric that inspired this entire post lol)
"You caged me and then you called me crazy, I am what I am 'cause you trained me, So who's afraid of me? Who's afraid of little old me?"- kind of a stretch but remember that time they put jason in arkham?
I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)- again the whole song is harley about joker
"Your arson's match, your somber eyes, And I'll still see it until I die, You're the loss of my life"- bruce about jason. out of all the robins that died, jason's death hit him the hardest. even now when bruce sees red hood, he still sees that happy little kid that he lost
"I can read your mind, "She's having the time of her life", There in her glittering prime, The lights refract sequin stars off her silhouette every night, I can show you lies"- bc we all know Nightwing is always dying on the inside, and it was very true in the discowing era bc it was right after he left the manor
"'Cause I'm a real tough kid, I can handle my shit"- jason pre-bruce
"I'm so obsessed with him, but he avoids me like the plague"- ok so we got joker about batman, cupid about green arrow, hush about bruce wayne... and a bunch of others but it's too many to write lol
"And you deserve prison, but you won't get time"- fucking tarantula that bitch
"The smallest man who ever lived"- the atom! not any of the messages in the song tho ofc he's just very small
"What if I told you I'm back? The hospital was a drag, Worst sleep that I ever had, I circled you on a map ,I haven't come around in so long, But I'm coming back so strong"- joker to batman after escaping arkham again
"I haven't come around in so long, But I'm making a comeback to where I belong"- jason coming back to protect crime alley after being away from gotham for years after his resurrection
"Even if it's handcuffed, I'm leavin' here with you"- batman and catwoman<3
I Hate It Here- imagine the whole song as homeless jason todd taking shelter in the library💔
"I built a legacy that you can't undo, But when I count the scars, there's a moment of truth, That there wouldn't be this if there hadn't been you"- bruce built a legacy as batman, and created a huge family he loves, and it hurts to think about but he wouldn't have any of it if joe chill hadn't murdered his parents
"Please, I've been on my knees, Change the prophecy, Don't want money, Just someone who wants my company"- kid bruce grew up all alone in a huge mansion, but he'd give all his billions away in a heartbeat if he could change his parent's fate
"So, they killed Cassandra first 'cause she feared the worst"- ok so you might think i chose cassandra cain for this only bc of the name, BUT- cass notices things others don't (like cassandra the prophet...), bc of her skills and abilities she is feared the most (Ik the song said "she feared" not "she is feared" but idc lol). like if someone knew so much about you just by looking you'd think she's some kind of a witch too
Peter- picture this: jason had a childhood friend back at crime alley. he left to live in wayne manor and become robin, and said goodbye to his old friend, promising they'd reunite again in the future. 3 years pass and his friend reads an article about jason's death. now listen to the song and try not to cry (if someone writes that fic send me the link IMMEDIATELY this has been haunting me) here's the link to the song with lyrics bc ik you're too lazy to look it up. also jason's middle name is peter:)
"Splendidly selfish, charmingly helpless, Excellent fun 'til you get to know her"- brucie wayne vs batman
"Started with a kiss, "Oh, we must stop meeting like this" But it always ends up with a town car speeding, Out the drive one evening"- catwoman and batman of course<3 the town car is the batmobile speeding out the batcave to catch catwoman (to arrest her or make out with her? probs both)
Robin- ofc we have to go robins for robin! imo that's bruce to dick and jason's robins, and dick to damian when he was his robin. dick and jason- despite the hard times they went through that led to them becoming robins, they were still mostly happy curious kids that run around covered in mud while bruce tried (unsuccessfully) to maintain the innocence they had left. as for damian- it's more of a stretch than the other 2 bc he had no childlike innocence before robin, but dick tried his hardest to extract the child that was hidden inside the ruthless assassin the league created, finally allowing him to experience normal kid things. idk
"He said, "I'm not a donor but, I'd give you my heart if you needed it", She rolled her eyes and said, "You're a professional""-to me this is clark kent completely in love and lois with her sass
"And at last, She knew what the agony had been for"- almost every hero. they suffer, they sacrifice, they fight, and sometimes they want to give up- but at the end of the day, they save lives, so it's all worth it
and that's it folks! feel free to add more/share your insights!!
sorry for any spelling/grammer mistakes, English isn't my first language plus like the title said i had a minor head injury a few days ago and I'm tired soI'm not proofreading this bc I'm going to sleep rn goodnight to all✌️
CHAPTER EIGHT: GLUTTONY
Golden Child series
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS: A brush with death isn't enough to scare you anymore.
READER: female
WORDS: 1k
WRITTEN: 08/25/2023
Tumblr media
You were still unconscious as Ayumi flew through the air with you in her arms. Yaga pursued her on the back of his Cursed owl.
"She doesn't belong to you!" Yaga shouted.
Ayumi swerved to avoid his attacks. "You've no idea who you're messing with. I will have her.”
Yaga picked up on the wording she used, feeling his blood run cold at the thought of someone beside her and Chiaki.
Just seconds before, Ayumi had Yaga believing that she and Chiaki wanted your soul for themselves.
Now, she wasn't mentioning Chiaki.
Yaga could finally see it. Ayumi wasn't hungry. There was something else inside her that was hungry.
She was being controlled.
Looking closely, he could see the veins popping from her arms. She was holding herself back from harming you.
"Yaga!" Gojo shouted as he appeared next to his teacher.
"Satoru, you need to get Ama away," instructed Yaga.
"What will you do?"
"Distract whatever that thing is," he said. "Suguru, with me!"
Though normally cocky and aloof, seeing your limp body clutched in the Curse's claws filled Gojo with uncharacteristic fear.
When Ayumi crashed down to the courtyard with you still held hostage, Gojo tensed, unsure of what to do. One wrong move could mean the end for you.
"Satoru," Geto said, eyes focused on him.
"I know," he said.
Geto looked unsure but nodded before joining his teacher. He decided to place his faith in Gojo.
As Geto and Yaga flanked her, Ayumi crashed to the ground, clutching your limp body in her claws. Her wings flared out menacingly as she hissed at Yaga and Geto approaching her.
"Stay back!" she snarled, baring her fangs.
Yaga noticed Ayumi's body trembling, her claws beginning to break through your flesh. It was taking all her effort not to tear into your flesh right then and there.
"Let her go," Yaga said calmly. "
"I — can't!" Ayumi cried out, face contorting in agony.
Tears of pearls began to trickle from her eyes. It was something she had never felt before. The agony of crying while holding a child she raised for slaughter was a pain like no other.
"Please," she begged in croaks. "Kill — me — " She tilted her head to the side, bones cracking, as she suddenly screamed, "She's mine!"
She buried her face in your neck, inhaling your scent. Your blood called to her, singing a siren's song she was unable to resist. She ran her tongue along your skin, ready to pierce it with her fangs.
In the blink of an eye, Gojo snatched you from Ayumi's grasp, quickly retreating to a safe distance.
Ayumi shrieked in rage at her prize being taken away. She glared at Gojo with murderous intent, preparing to lunge.
Yaga and Geto prepared themselves as well. You were still unconscious, unaware of the deadly battle about to unfold over your fate.
Gojo looked at you as his best friend and teacher distracted Ayumi.
"Kaneko."
He stopped to see if you would react. His eye twitched once he saw how peacefully you were sleeping. He grabbed you by the shoulders and shook you violently.
"WAKE UP! WAKE UP, YOU DUMB ASS! DO YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH OR SOMETHING? FUCKING IDIOT!"
"Papa, when's Mama coming back?" you asked.
He smiled as he fed you a strawberry. "Soon, darling."
You bit into the strawberry and smiled brightly. "It's so sweet! I'm gonna give one to Emi!" you exclaimed as you grabbed a strawberry and tan to your cousin.
"Not too far!" your father shouted.
You ran up to Emi who knelt as she saw you coming. She tucked her hair behind her ears as she smiled sweetly at you.
"Emi, a strawberry for you!"
She leaned over to take it from your small hands. "You need to wake up."
"Emi?"
"Ama, please wake up."
You tilted your head as she withdrew from your ear. She took a bite of the strawberry and cheered.
"This is so good!" she exclaimed loudly. "Ama, this is not your life," she whispered through chews. "You are not a child. You are sixteen. Your parents are dead. I am dead. This is not real."
Your father began to stand up from his seated position on the picnic table.
"He is not your father," she said quickly. "You are a sorcerer. This is not your ending. I refuse to believe that this is how you die."
"Die?" you questioned.
You touched your throat at the odd voice that came from your throat. You looked down at your hands and saw that they had grown.
"Is something wrong?" your father asked as he appeared next to you.
Immediately, Emi grabbed your wrist and pulled you away from him.
"Stay away from her," she hissed.
The smile on your father's face dropped. His skin deepened to a blood red. "Ah — Emi, I thought we had a deal?"
Tears fell from her eyes. "She will live and love. You do not get to decide her future. No one gets to decide her future!"
This was Emi, your protector. She was the one who protected you to her best capabilities. She was the one who knew better than anyone what it was like to have a future forced upon her.
You let out a trembling breath as you looked at Emi. "Emi — "
As your father lunged for your throat, Emi stepped in front of you hastily and looked at you.
" — I love you," you whispered.
She smiled as her existence began to disappear. "Hopefully, I won't see you anytime soon."
Your eyes opened wide with a scream of anguish, locking eyes with Gojo who was equally as startled. Your screams drew the attention of Yaga, Geto, and Ayumi.
You lost Emi all over again.
You pushed Gojo’s face away from you, smushing his cheek against the palm of your hand.
“Bitch — ”
You stood up on your own, brushing the debris off your hands.
“HEY!” you shouted. “I don't know who the fuck you are, but give Chiaki and Ayumi back.”
Gojo looked at you with surprise. Maybe he would consider you his friend after this.
Ayumi smiled gleefully. “I'm impressed you've managed to get this far. The others didn't. I’m looking forward to seeing you progress.”
She disappeared, but you could feel her energy return to your side with Chiaki. With the situation handled, your eyes closed.
Gojo caught you in his arms as you peacefully slept against his chest.
“Seriously?” he muttered.
fear of men, more like a desire to avoid them, there were comprehensible reasons. that included, more specifically, directly and shamelessly honesty in wishing to stay away from that man, the one in charge of you, kento nanami. what a complete cold, rude and snobby attitude he has, you thought. he gives me so much work, it’s impossible to finish on my shift!, you complain. fuck him, such a jerk. you insulted on your head all over again, in a very constant and, perhaps daily, trail of thought. that blond-hair that whenever you saw, sent horrific shivers down your spine, followed by a not very discrete sigh from your lips, a snort or even maybe, clicking your tongue. nanami, your boss, surely was a man of few words, choosing ambiguously wisely, well, in a very direct way — maybe a little too straightforward — and so, coming off as an asshole sometimes, which infuriated your nerves. definitely, your efforts were higher than most of the workers there, yet, he did not recognize it, ever, no one’s efforts — it is your duty, if you’re unsatisfied, resign. yeah, harsh, his word. with a pile of never-ending papers of data, skimming through the numbers, letters and symbols with a dizzy head, stiff fingers from the repetitive typing, working overtime, again. throughout the day, with the same rhythm, no accumulated tasks and even so, you had to work until late at night, watching your workmates leave, with dark circles under their eyes but still, sharing how much they were going to eat after that, ramen, beer, rice, something as small as an oniguiri made your mouth salivate — curse him, making you go through that suffering, that torture. now, the lights were off, only the city outside, the hallway and your bright, blinding screen were a part of the scene, making the space a bit more visible, barely. worse was, being so focused on the priorities, thinking the other person across the cubicles of the office wasn’t anyone important…
“y/n, please, come here.” jolting at the sudden break of the silence — exempting the sirens and horns from outside, keyboard, air conditioner and the machines — a voice, a familiar one called. your curious eyes peeking over the white low walls, standing up fully, taking steps at the direction of the speaker, high heels tapping, echoing lowly. i thought he hated working overt—
“you do know i hate working overtime.” effortfully, attempting to contain yourself from rolling your eyes back.
“yes, i am well aware of that matter.” if someone could see your face, they’d say you must have woken up on the wrong side of bed. he took off his glasses, cleaning them with a cloth, then staring back at you with that same old quite angered expression, like yours, a very tense atmosphere, as usual.
“then, tell me why haven’t you been able to finish your work? you do know i am your supervisor, if the important tasks, given to you, are not done, those become my responsibility.” rude. even standing a bit farther from him, from a higher angle, that made yourself feel so much smaller, intimidated.
“well, if you hadn’t given me so much to d—
“it’s your work, i have mine, if you do yours, we will avoid this situation.” putting his glasses back on, he focused on the screen in front of him, typing for a few seconds. “don’t get your personal feelings involved on this matter, be a professional.”
“i’m sorry?” you question, confusedly mad, making the man pause, glance at you with his head titled slightly towards your direction.
“i acknowledge your dislike for me.” good, at least he’s self-aware. “i am simply doing my job, i see you take my sincerity as an offense.” you restrain yourself, doing the upmost to keep quiet, to be mature.
“well, nanami, if you weren’t such a— beep beep
the fax machine starts, gosh, that thing saved your job. watching the blond stand up, walk towards the big equipment with slow movements, seeming tired, perhaps. doing whatever was needed, heading to where you stood, without a care in the world and, setting the paper on his desk, yet, not sitting back down.
“what were you saying?” his almost adenoidal voice asked, as if teasingly, he knew where you were getting at. supporting himself with a hand on the surface, staring at you, expressionless.
“nothing.” stares, the eye contact was intense. a few seconds later, his head looked down, hearing a sigh come from him, his fingertips removed his glasses for real, now, laying them on the table. Your breath hitched as you noticed the distance between you both had been way closer than you’d thought.
“you surely are a piece of trouble, it even feels like i am your enemy,” crossing his arms and legs. “mrs. y/n.” because you are.
“are you done lecturing me, again?” there was a twitch in his lips, almost like a curve forming, your heart skipped a beat.
“no.” simple like that. it wasn’t fair, how he approached you, even if you felt rage inside, that could not be enough to make you push him away. closing in, inch by inch, putting you on a narrow spot, where you have your lower back against the desk, holding onto the borders, his body so proximal, yet not touching at all.
“what are you doing?” you nervously question, feeling your cheeks warm up.
“i have no sentiment of hatred against you, even if it seems like it,” such a calm voice. “in fact, what i dislike are your methods, more so, who you are at work.”
“that didn’t change anything.” the air felt heavier.
“it did, i never said i hated who you really are, since i don’t know her,” his breath was fresh, burning against your skin, a very noticeable difference in heights. “but you,” he paused. “you can’t say the same.”
“that’s right,” oh, a chuckle from him. your heart skipped a beat, again, dammit. the blond leaned down, a tiny bit, getting closer, so close his eyes felt like devouring you, until you noticed his hands beside your waist, but on the desk, enclosing your body even more. “i, hate….” lips so very close. “you…” touching barely. “nanami.” softly kissing, yet harsh at first, the contact was a perfect fit. the kiss had endured a few seconds, those seconds felt like nothing, until you were the one pulling away.
“doesn’t seem like it.” if you could, you’d punch him in the face, never even wanting to think about how red your cheeks must have been, because you know they were burning. his mouth leisurely moving close to your ear, both his hands latched onto your waist delicately, shivering as those same palms brought your hips against his crotch. “will you let me fuck this hatred out of you, darling?” whispering so very softly, it damaged your poor heart — which beat sped up even more.
“want to see you try.” words slipped out, slightly feeling his smirk against your skin, suddenly being put to seat on the desk, where there was an empty space and, nanami swiped off whatever could be in the way. another kiss, a fierce one, the man fondled your ass, with a gasp you left, then, he could easily slip his tongue inside your mouth and start leading. his fingers snook under your skirt, having your legs wrap around him, it was easy to lift you off the table and, unexpectedly, rip off your stockings, having you choke. “those were my favorite!” you complained breathless, in between pecks.
“i’ll buy you a new one, sweetheart.” feeling a breeze against your skin, you sinked back down the surface. those long fingers of his right hand, now instead, made their way to your shirt, still supporting yourself on the border of the wood below you and, all while he almost devoured your lips. unbuttoning so skillfully the small dots of your white collared shirt — the one that fit perfectly, made your body look absolutely even more gorgeous — until your lacy black bra was on sight, having him pull away for a second and, shamelessly stare at your chest, smiling truthfully, not taking off your shirt entirely, but was open enough to expose your torso. “that’s sweet.” you couldn’t decipher what he truly meant and, even if you could, he did not let you, after joining your lips once more, passionately. those digits now finding their way under the fabric, pushing it down, letting your breasts free over the bra, playing with a nipple surprisingly and, spontaneously letting out an unwanted moan. you were the one pulling away now, too ashamed to stare back at him, head to the side, covering your eyes with your forearm, noticing how the bulge on his pants was in contact with your inner thighs. he decided to stop, spreading your legs further apart, loosening his tie with a heavy breathing that made his features soften, unzipping his pants with the other hand. nanami reached now to your thighs, running his hands until the hem of your panties, since your skirt had been lifted to your hips quite some time ago, finishing to rip off the pantyhose you wore, as well as, pushing aside the cotton fabric of the lacy underwear matching your top and, your own hand flew to his wrist as soon as he played with your folds. “are you embarrassed for being this wet?” the blond questioned, noticing how you tried to stop him.
“shut up.” he smirked softly, again. lubricating his fingers enough and, so quickly, that it was easy to slid two of them inside your pussy, without warning, clenching your walls and attempting to squeeze your legs shut, however, he kept them open. your mouth morphed into an o shape, throwing your head back in ecstasy. “don’t tell me you’ve came already.”
“i-i didn’t.” liar, what a silly lie, you haven’t had sex in years. pushing them deeper in, you tried hard to keep quiet, it worked, for now. still tightly gripping onto his arm and wrist, so ashamed of the situation, your toes curled and heels were about to fall off from your feet, while nanami’s chest was heavily and seductively going up and down. thrusting those in and out painfully slow, curling them when he was all the way through, calloused wide and long fingers, he acted as if prioritizing your own pleasure first — he would never do that, would he? he’s just a selfish prick that… fuck — hitting that one spot led you to the edge, lips parted again, a low, very very low whine escaped and your grip tightened, yet, he knew he had found it.
“you’re very sensitive, mrs. y/n.” don’t say my name or i’ll… his tired eyes had an unexpected warmth to them, differently than usual, there was even this strange feeling that he was so needy and caring, his cheeks were faintly red, even if the lights were low, you could see that. with a more than perfect thrust of his fingers, such a pretty whine left your lips, so lewd, meanwhile, so innocent, not a hint of fakeness, nor dislike. and, with your back arched a little more, biting onto your lower lip, discrete trembling legs, you had came once more, a bit harder than before, squelching noises becoming louder, but before that, nanami’s head fell onto the crook of your neck, his nose against your skin. “i can’t take it anymore,” pulling out of you, he grabbed onto the sides of your hips, slowly leaning back, inches away from your face. “i need to fuck you.” with that, kissing again, like it was familiar already, like he was famine, with insatiable hunger for you. nanami, once more, like before, spread your legs apart, getting in between them, your arms wrapping around his wide shoulders. so very suddenly thrusting inside, with a cock you’d never imagine could be that big, immediately failing to keep silent, yet you kept on trying. pausing to take each breath, he faltered, with chopped short breaths, recomposing and pounding for the first time deep enough to maintain your legs shaking. one of his hands rested against your lower back, the other, held one of your thighs, bringing it closer to him. those were harsh, long pounds, ones that could easily break you in half if you were a porcelain doll. the pace was rough, but even, with a slight hint of gentleness. his groans were audible, your ego was flushed down the sink, which meant your whining was all over the place now, you gave up — he was treating you nice, there was no reason to stay quiet — and those sounds were soft, so sweet, so pretty, his cock seemed even bigger inside, your gummy walls clamping him tighter, hardly letting him breath.
“you fucking b-bastard,” dizzy, breathless, aroused and with tits jolting along your entire body at each of his forceful and precise thrusts. “it feels s-so good.” praising rudely, in between the pecks of his lips against yours, finding his way into also kissing your cervix.
“i know, sweetheart, i know.” his voice soothed your anger, which made you even more irritated, which contrasted with the puppy expression in your pretty face. pulling your body closer, with a more concentrated, methodical pace, the one that led you to moan even louder, to hear this man whine so desperately, to have you repeat a number of no!no!ngh-n-no!s, trying to convince yourself this was not the best fuck in your entire life — who would have thought, your boss, the one you hated, that treated people so badly, could do this to you. your nails digging over his social shirt, the one unbuttoned to the top of his chest, seeing a droop of swear rolling down, making his fragrance stronger. instinctively, arching your back, while being both penetrated by his cock, balls deep, jolting body, embraced by his arms pulling your hips at each slapping contact. a familiar feeling on your lower belly, clenching down even more, moaning so loudly it echoed, being kissed all over your neck, with his soft lips.
“‘m gonna cum!” effortfully advising, trembling.
“go on, please, do it for me, darling.” gripping the back of his hair, pulling him into a last kiss before his sloppy pounds made you cum another time, so good that it sent electric sparks all over your body, beginning to get so dumb for his cock that if he kept it that way, you’d even tell blurt out you loved him. followed by you, repeated fucks left nanami’s mouth, very serenely and lowly until there was just this sudden warmth filling you up, thrusting one last time, and a white ring on the base of his cock, staying in position for as long as he could last. in an instant, it flew by, only noticing his missing comfort as he slid out of your cunny. but, well, the man was not hesitant to push two of his fingers inside you, keeping his cum stored safely inside. “consider it your salary advance.”
Hanbin always knew he felt something for you, even if he wasn’t sure what that feeling was.
You basically grew up together. You knew each other since elementary school but funnily enough didn’t like the other, like at all.
Hanbin was a very outgoing guy, he knew everyone and had tons of friends. On the other hand, you were a little bit more reserved, you had a small but tight group of friends and preferred to listen rather than to talk.
You were so different yet similar in other ways.
You didn’t like how loud he could get or that smirk he gave you every time he knew he did something to annoy you.
And he didn’t like that you were a nerd that only cared about school (false, you only cared about having good grades but didn’t live for school) and that you rarerly talked.
And that went on for years. Until your best friend, Minjun, started dating Hanbin’s friend, Matthew, in your freshman year of high school. Forcing your two groups to spend a lot of time together.
At first you both dreaded it, but after some time you started warming up to each other. You discovered that you shared a love for music and you also liked the same movie genre.
After that you started hanging out more without your other friends and texting a lot, too. You started calling each other “bestie” and “best friend”.
It was a cute friendship and even your friends teased you that you would eventually end up together.
1. Even every time that you got the flu
I'm not scared at all to get close to you.
I don't run away when your face says achoo.
But I run to get you a tissue.
Hanbin remembers vividly the first time you got sick with the flu. You were supposed to hang out at the fair the next day but called him to cancel.
“I’m sorry Bin, we’ll have to reschedule.” You talked on the phone.
“Why? Are you okay?” He asked in a concerned tone.
“Yeah, don’t worry. I just got the flu and I feel awful.”
“Oh, Bestie.” He answered. “Do you want me to get you anything?”
“No, no. It’s okay, Binnie.” You waved your hand even though he couldn’t see you. “I’ll just sleep and order take out.”
“Ooor, I could cook you something warm and take care of you.”
“Nooo, Bestie. You don’t have to do that.” You spoke. “I don’t want you to get sick, too.”
“Nonsense. Nothing’s gonna happen to me. I have a strong inmune system.” He answered making you laugh and cough a little afterwards. “Just accept, Y/nnie. I promise I won’t run away when you sneeze, I’ll run to get you a tissue.”
After you contemplated his offer, you accepted.
You had such a sweet best friend.
“Okaaay.”
Hanbin was genuinely happy to take care of you. “I’ll pass by the convenience store to get you snacks and medicine.”
“Okay, Bin. I’ll see you soon.”
“Yeah, I won’t be long.”
“Love you.”
“Love you, too.”
2. Remember when your parents went out of town?
They were, dumb enough to leave us with the house
We had 100 people naked on the sofa
Dancing 'til the cops said: Game over
Turned out it was Cheri's dad
So we did shots while we rode in the back
He even let us all use the siren
It was the best night, I'm not lying
Since your parents went on a week long trip to Las Vegas, they left you home alone. Letting you invite some of your friends so you wouldn’t be on your own.
So, Hanbin convinced you to throw a party on Friday and invite your friends and a plus one. Which wasn’t a very good idea. Word spread throughout campus and now you had a ton more people than what you were expecting.
You gave the black haired a look. “This is all your fault.”
“Mine? Why?” He raised an eyebrow.
“Yes, yours. Because you seem to forget how popular you are.”
“Oh.” He gave you a sheepish look. “Okay, maybe I do.”
“Lighten up, Sweetheart. We’ll kick them out if we need to.” Taerae, your boyfriend at the time, spoke as he threw his arm around your shoulders.
“You? But you’re scrawny, love.” You teased him.
“I’m stronger than you think.” He started ticking you.
“Okay, okay! You are.” You gave him a hug and he kissed you on the forehead.
“Let’s go dance, babe.” He took your hand and dragged you to the dance floor, which was really your living room.
Hanbin was left on the sidelines with some of your other friends, just watching you as you danced with the brown haired.
“Just tell her how you feel.” Zhang Hao talked as he saw the way Hanbin was looking at you.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
The older gave him a look. “We all know you’re in love with Y/n and have for years.”
“I’m not in love with her, she’s my best friend.” Hanbin spoke defensively.
“Don’t even try to deny it. We’ve all seen the way you look at her, like right now.”
As he was processing what his best friend said, a police siren could be heard on the distance.
“POLICE! EVERYONE OUT, NOW!” Someone you couldn’t recognize shouted.
Everyone started screaming and running as fast as they could, and exited the house.
When the cops arrived, your group of friends and your boyfriend, were the only ones left.
So, turns out that they received a noise complaint from one of your neighbors, which wasn’t surprising cause that old woman hated you.
Anyway, you weren’t in trouble because the police officer was one of your closest friend’s dad, Cheri.
You all ended up doing shots in the back and using the siren.
It was a pretty amazing night.
After that, all of your friends went home.
Hanbin laid on his bed and stared at the ceiling, still thinking about what Hao had told him.
Maybe he liked you more than a friend?
He couldn’t deny that he found you very pretty and adored your personality. You were so special to him.
After overthinking for what felt for hours, that night, he realized that he liked his best friend, more than a friend.
Would he ever confess to you? Maybe.
He couldn’t do it right now, because you had a boyfriend and he respected your relationship. That and he also wasn’t sure if you felt the same.
For now, he’s content to have you as his best friend, so telling you about his feelings would be a problem for future Hanbin.
