pairing: diluc x gn! reader
fandom: genshin impact
trope(s): marriage of convenience, implied enemies to lovers
warnings: crack. mentions of thick fingers (sobs), reader has a teasing personality, workplace romance.
a/n: whoever thought it'd be a good idea to give me a functioning brain and a keyboard *sighs wistfully*. this is peak delusion, please try to enjoy, and bear with me.
Tumblr media
Diluc scrutinized the ring in his hand, his brow furrowing in subtle frustration. He glanced up at you with an impassive expression, motioning for you to extend your hand.
"Let's try this again," he grumbled, his tone clipped and businesslike.
You obliged, holding out your hand as he selected a new ring. Diluc's fingers were precise as he attempted to slide it onto your ring finger, but as it happens, it caught midway.
He frowned, his impatience growing more apparent. "Your fingers are thicker than I anticipated." he remarked with a measured tone.
Suppressing an eye-roll, you extended your hand once more, wondering how someone so meticulous in business could falter with something as seemingly straightforward as ring size. Diluc selected another ring, and this time, it glided on with ease.
"There," he stated matter-of-factly, "the right size."
You couldn't help but mutter something under your breath.
Diluc shot you a glance, his crimson eyes meeting yours with an unreadable expression. "Excuse me?"
You met his gaze head-on, your irritation bubbling to the surface. "I said, I didn't realize precision had a learning curve, sir."
A flicker of annoyance crossed Diluc's features, but he remained composed. "I don't have time for inefficiencies. This is merely a formality for our arrangement."
You couldn't resist a sarcastic smile. "Of course, Mr. Ragnvindr. I wouldn't want to inconvenience you with the size of my fingers." He merely grunted in response, returning to his usual grumpy self as if the exchange hadn't ruffled his feathers.
The tension lingered in the air as you exchanged those subtle barbs with Diluc. The jeweler discreetly observed the dynamic between you two, unsure whether to be amused or uncomfortable. Once the rings were finalized, you gathered your composure, preparing to leave the shop.
As you turned to exit, Diluc's voice cut through the air, begrudgingly breaking the formality. "You can drop the formalities. Just call me Diluc."
A mischievous grin tugged at your lips. "Oh? so we're on a first-name basis now?"
His response was a tightened expression, a silent plea for cooperation. "It's more convenient for our... arrangement."
Your satisfaction was palpable. "Alright, Diluc. If you say so."
As you sauntered out of the jeweler's shop, you left behind a bemused Diluc, who, despite his stoicism, seemed to have reluctantly taken a step towards a less formal connection.

“Candid”
(a RivaMika drabble/ modern day au)
“Oh! Today is MCM.”
Levi raised his brow questionably before sipping his tea as he watches his girlfriend scroll on her phone, “What the hell is MCM?”
Mikasa looks up and a faint tint forms on her cheeks, her expression a tad embarrassed and timid, “It stands for Man Crush Monday. People post it on social media with the hashtag MCM.”
Levi can tell by the way she's fidgeting in her seat and how her eyes drift to and from him every other second that she's suggesting that she wants to do post as well, but is too shy to ask. A childish trait, but undisputedly adorable if it's from her, and oddly enough, it is one of the reasons he's in love with her.
He'll cave in, like he always does, proving himself a weak man to her wants. But Levi decides to have a little fun with her first.
"Oh?" Levi smirks, placing the teacup down, his stare teasing, "And who is this man crush of yours?"
Mikasa pouts with a glare, already catching on to his game, "Who do you think?"
"No clue. Enlighten me."
She rolls her eyes with an exasperated laugh. Then she looks at him with a challenging gleam in her eyes. Levi thinks for a split second how cute she is.
"Well," she starts, sitting back and crossing her arms, "He's an awfully sarcastic old man with a dry sense of humor."
"Dry?" Levi scoffs out a chuckle.
"Yup," Mikasa says with tight smile, seemingly trying to keep herself from laughing, "He also always has such a grumpy look on his face. And he's a clean freak. Always wants everything spotless. Thinks tea is better than coffee."
"Smart guy. You have good taste."
"I do," she agrees, uncrossing her arms and sitting back up straight, scooting closer, "He's also very handsome."
"Oh?"
"And selfless. Protective. Caring. He makes me the happiest girl alive," Mikasa says, the blush on her cheeks deepening but her smile remains, "I'm really so lucky to have him."
The sincerity in her eyes and her words of affection pull at something pleasant in his heart, something like thankfulness. He returns the same look back.
"Sounds like a decent man."
Her smile grows and automatically, the world around them seemed brighter.
"He's quite alright. Though, he'll be even better if he lets me take his photo of him right now because he looks so incredibly handsome.”
With a chuckle and shake of his head, completely awestruck and humored by this woman, Levi finally caves in.
"Fine, you win."
Mikasa, of course, does her little victory smirk before picking up her phone in excitement.
"Okay, pose."
Levi stares at her oddly, a bit dumbfounded, actually, as he's not used to having his photo taken without her. He told himself to just smile, but awkwardly enough, he can't seem to do so on command. So instead he just eyes upwards, thinking much too hard about how he should pose.
"Levi...what are you looking at?"
"Just take it already," Levi says, doing his damn near hardest to suppress his embarrassment, still looking up, "This is--"
"It's perfect!"
Levi brings his gaze down and looks at her confusedly, "You already took the photo?"
"Yes. Photos always look better when they're candid," Mikasa giggles.
He was about to protest, but he sees her staring at the photo with such warmth and admiration in her eyes, a soft, joyful smile planted on her lips, as though the person in the photo takes up such a special space in her heart. Levi's own heart betrays him and suddenly his face flushes, in awe of the woman in front of him, a remembrance of how lucky he was that his crush on her bloomed into something much greater.
It gives him an idea.
"Your turn," he says simply, picking up his phone and turning on its camera.
Mikasa at first blinks in surprise, but soon she smiles warmly. She then picks up the mug and reaches for her pastry, already willing. It appears she's been prepared and it makes him chuckle inside.
"Okay, let me pose with--"
*click*
"Beautiful."
Mikasa turns her head to him with surprised eyes, her mug mid-air in her hand, "Wait you took it already? I wasn't ready!"
Levi looks at the photo he took, marveling at her enchanting features, and is reminded again about just how lucky he is to have such a beautiful woman in his life to call his. This time, welcomes his smile.
"You're right. Photos do look better candid.”

My Akari’s Pokémon Team is made up of Decidueye, Staraptor, Luxray, Zoroark, Lucario and Sylveon. :3 I gave each of her Pokémon personalities and kinda feel like sharing them with you guys. I’ll start with her first Pokémon.
Decidueye is a very timid, shy and nervous Pokémon. That usually likes to hide behind her trainer. She doesn’t like getting out of her comfort zone, and being put into situations she’s not comfortable in. Unlike most Pokémon, she’s actually pretty scared of battles. Sometimes freezes stiff due to fear while in one. I like to head canon that Akari actually lost the first battle by the gate with Volo because of this. Decidueye isn’t very confident in her abilities, since she’s the weakest in the team, but Akari likes to encourage her.
Staraptor has a very quirky, reckless and confident personality. Unlike Decidueye, he LOVES Pokémon battles and wants to take part in each one. Sometimes doesn’t listen to Akari’s orders when he thinks another move would work better. He can also be a little reckless, and try to pull off a move to impress everyone. If it works, he often brags about it. Would literally charge at a legendary Pokémon without giving it much thought. He hasn’t attempted it yet, but everyone knows he would. He also likes to make jokes occasionally to brighten everyone’s mood if he can.
Luxray is very lax and carefree, though she can also be a little lazy. Her favorite hobby is sleeping, and she’ll sleep whenever she gets the chance. Pokémon battling isn’t her favorite thing, but she’ll do it if she has to and can be surprisingly fast and sharp then. Luxray has a way with calming other members of the team down whenever situations look grim. Since she can remain calm even if everyone else isn’t. It’s hard to provoke her, but if anyone succeeds she can be pretty fierce.
Zoroark has a mischievous, sly and trouble-making personality. He loves to either scare or prank the members of the team. He even does pranks on Akari and her friends. His pranks are harmless, but Lucario would scold him if she thinks he went a little to far with one. When that happens he’d apologize but it wouldn’t be long till he does another prank like it. When he’s not pulling pranks on people or Pokémon, he usually seen hanging out with Luxray (she one of the only ones that isn’t to bothered or annoyed by his jokes).
Lucario is the strongest member of Akari’s team. She’s very protective, responsible, and kind of acts like the mother to the team. She’s very mature, and likes to keep the team together and solve conflicts between them. One of the reasons why she’s so good at Pokémon battles is because she usually always strategizes and changes her technique depending on what she can read from her opponent. Another fun fact about her is that she is actually the sibling to Volo’s Lucario (Volo actually gave her to Akari when she was a Riolu. I have a little backstory for that).
Sylveon is actually a boy (which is ironic for the evolution he evolved into). Usually very sarcastic and grumpy. Wearing a little scowl on his face most of the time unless if something makes him feel another stronger emotion. He gets annoyed easily, and tends to snap at whatever provoked him. But despite being a little cold and unfriendly, he actually does care about the other members of the team. He just wouldn’t show it outwardly. If something happened, he would fight to keep his friends safe from harm.

What kind of parents to Ted do you think Remus and Tonks would've been if they survived?
I don't know why but I imagine that Tonks would be the 'easy one', the one who Ted could tell some juicy details from his teenage life and Tonks would be like 'ooh yeah I understand, tell me more!' and would sometimes behave like she's his friend rather than a mum (which sounds good but could be bad xD) I also imagine lots of cringe nicknames that would embarrass Teddy and lots of hugs and kisses, basically very affectionate and warm, like she was in books.
For Remus... I can't help but imagine him being loving but also strict and a bit cold. He would LOVE Tonks and Teddy obviously, but Remus is not naturally affectionate or open about his feelings and I don't think he would be a natural Family Man (like Arthur Weasley), so he would be reserved. He would express his love towards Teddy by saying how proud he was of Ted's Head Boy badge and ruffle his hair and clap him on the back. I also think his lycanthropy might affect their relationship - Remus would get grumpy, in turn Ted might also get sarcastic and grumpy if he's in a bad mood, which could result in a fight. Also, Remus gives me the ~old fashioned father~ vibes when it comes to discipline, if you know what I mean. BUT in spite of all this, Teddy would be a complete daddy's boy! Especially if he's more like Remus in personality and looks, and he and Remus could talk endlessly and understand each other.
Sorry for long post 🤡 what are your headcanons?
Thank you for your question. Don’t apologise for a long post- I love long posts:) and this reply has turned out v long also.
I touched on the answer a bit here: https://bikelock28.tumblr.com/post/624514058632232960/i-lobed-the-chapters-about-what-happened-to.
I don’t think either Tonks or Lupin would be very strict parents, but I also don’t think either would be the “friends with the kids” type. I don’t think either would be the Cool Parent, because frankly by the time children are old enough to fully understand/appreciate coolness, they’re too old to reckon it applies to their parents.
I think Lupin does most of the childcare. This means he and Teddy are close. Being a dad makes lupin happier than anything. He has a lovely relationship with Teddy: loves teaching Teddy stuff and is also good at being silly with him (remember this is a man who dressed Snape as Neville’s gran and who laughs at James’ jokes 20 years later! Do not underestimate the daftness Remus Lupin is capable of). I think Tonks would absolutely love all of the above.
I write Lupin as allergic to PDA with Tonks, and I think it would largely remain that way. But I don’t think he can keep his hands off Teddy, he is always hugging, tickling, kissing, ruffling hair, having Teddy climb on him, etc. It feels natural to him, he doesn’t even notice that he’s doing it in front of others.
If you grew up in a family where one parent was stay-at-home and the other went to work, you’ll remember that the latter coming home was a bit of a big daily occasion. I think that defo happens with Tonks- “MUMMY IS HOME! Mummy let me show you my drawing, mummy I scored a goal today” etc, hurling himself at her when she comes through the door. Plus it allows her to be Fun Mummy.
However, Aurors presumably work many evenings, weekends, early mornings. If you grow up with a parent who works shifts like that then as the child it’s normal to you. But for many mums that‘s guilt-inducing. I think Tonks would really struggle with that, which makes me sad. Though I suppose the good thing about being married to Lupin is that you’d always have someone to talk to about guilt lol! I reckon she’d buy Teddy all sort of daft and unnecessary toys to make up for missing bedtimes etc. These presents would largely be junk Teddy didn't actually want or need. Lupin would find this habit extremely irritating and it would probably be something they'd argue about: "It's just a silly plastic frog, it was ten knuts," "So why did you bother getting it?" "It's just a little token to say sorry for being away so much this week," "It's clutter we don't need, like that whistle you got him in the Summer. He knows you wish you were home more, Tonks- you don't need to spoil him with junk to prove it," etc etc.
BUT I also reckon Lupin would also be indulgent of Teddy in a different way, e.g:
I bet he’d hate leaving him to cry as a baby.
He’d have phases of extreme anxiety about Teddy’s safety.
Because Lupin’s self-loathing means that he believes he Is Bad, and because he carries a lot of shame, he would be weird and paranoid about Teddy growing up with similar problems. This would lead to him struggling with if an how to punish Teddy when he’s naughty, and with even the idea/wording of “naughty”/“good”/“you’re in trouble” etc.
Tonks, like many people, would find all the above bemusing and infuriating. I headcanon that Andromeda was quite a strict parent to her, and as far as Tonks is concerned she (Tonks) turned out OK. Therefore i think Tonks would have a more normal and healthy approach to punishment: “sending Teddy to bed without his pudding will teach him not to steal biscuits from the tin again”, “telling him he’s been naughty isn’t shaming him”, “he knows we love him even if we get cross sometimes”. Whereas Lupin, with his aforementioned shame and self-loathing would be troubled by all that. I think he would defo argue with Tonks about it. E.g a battleground would be if Teddy can/should sleep in his parents’ bed: "It helps him sleep," "No, Remus, it helps you sleep, but not me, and I'm the one who has to be up at five to go to work," "I'll have him on my side, then" "It doesn't matter, he'll still end up keeping us awake. You've got to get over this clinginess," "He isn't clingy," "He's going to be because of you, and you are because of him. Look, I know you get anxious sometimes about him being alone at night, but he's safe here. He's in the room nextdoor. Nobody is going to hurt him," "That's not what I'm worried about," "Remus, that's exactly what you're worried about. We both know it. It's OK, I understand, but you can't let it effect how we are with Teddy," etc etc.
As for their family relationships when Teddy’s older:
I don’t agree with you about Tonks being keen to hear the juicy details of teddy’s teen life, or him being keen to tell her- remember this is his mum! Plus, if Teddy’s anything like his dad, he’s a closed book. And Tonks has enough experience of Remus by then to respect that in Teddy.
I also disagree with you about Lupin getting grumpy around the full moon. In canon he gets ill, not bad-tempered, so there’s nothing there to cause arguments with Teddy. I don’t think having a werewolf dad would make school easy for Teddy (even though said dad is also a war hero). But I don’t believe Teddy would ever directly blame Lupin for that, because Teddy’s grown up seeing first-hand how being a werewolf is an illness.
Overall I think Teddy’s Hogwarts years would be a happy time for the family (as much as they can be when you have a teenager in the house!). I headcanon Teddy as always pretty independent, so him growing up and making choices would be cool for his parents to watch. Especially as he’s a bright lad, and I don’t head cannon him as having any interest in being an Auror or going into politics. Probably a relief for his parents on a personal level, but also a big signifier for them (and their Order friends) that the war’s over, and they won it so Teddy didn’t have to fight or campaign or be afraid. He can live the life he chooses. He can be normal. Well, as normal as you can be when you have turquoise hair ;)
However, by the time Teddy’s in 4th/5th year I headcanon that Lupin would be getting increasingly unwell. Probably walking with a stick and tiring easily. Of course that’s a difficult thing for a parent to experience, and a child to witness. I think Tonks would try to make this all seem OK and fail, and everyone would be miserable about it. But being a loving family makes even a miserable time a little better.
Hope you enjoyed this long answer. As always, feel free to weigh in or send Asks or Messages.

OC: Omen
Tumblr media
age: ??? (initially a juvenile; later seen as a young adult, but is basically a baby in demon years)
gender: none gender with left boy (it/he)
species: demon (initially unaffiliated; later becomes a greed demon thanks to, ahem, a certain miser’s influence)
height: 5’11”
story/universe: you’re a drifter, shape-shifter (AU for scrooge: a christmas carol)
abilities:
can shapeshift into any animal it’s seen before, or into an incorporeal force. its most common forms are a wolf, a cat, and a crow
in its incorporeal form, omen has general poltergeist-like abilities; it can throw or manipulate objects, break things, wail, change the temperature of a room, and make lights or fires go out
can speak any language necessary to interact with a human, including several dead or obscure languages
true form is a tarry, amorphous monster with many limbs; it sometimes gets stuck in this form or lapses into it when stressed
makes a variety of nonhuman noises, such as purring, shrieking, chattering, and snarling
doesn’t deliberately cause bad things, but misfortune tends to follow him…
personality (pre-arc):
very friendly and enthusiastic to everyone it meets
eager to please; will follow basically any commands a human gives it because it’s desperate for some kind of connection or praise. in fact sometimes it’s a little too eager and will obey instructions to a T, exactly as they’re said to it
slightly afraid of humans, acts like a people-pleaser both to hide his resentment toward them and to minimize the possibility of him getting hurt by them; has trust issues related to his past
cowers and hides when cornered or threatened; does not resist or fight back, despite being more than capable of doing so
has a mischievous streak; loves stealing, scaring people, and playing pranks; a bit cocky when doing so, as omen assumes he’s too good to get caught and thus throws caution to the wind
perfectionist, especially when given instructions; becomes confused and panicked when instructions are unclear and contradictory
personality (post-arc):
little SHIT
becomes the owner of a grandiose (and fucked up) hotel through a series of schemes
covets and is deeply obsessed with money; gets jealous and frustrated when it sees other people become wealthy or improve their financial situation, because it deems them unworthy and views them as competition
will fuck someone over for all they’re worth; unlike his mentor, he isn’t afraid to cut corners and to scam, cheat, and lie his way to success
snarky and condescending; fully embraces his resentment toward humans, views them only as a means to an end; to him, there’s no such thing as an innocent human, and to say so is hypocritical. he believes that humans aren’t good for anything aside from what they can do for him— and that they’re so horrible that they deserve his treatment of them
also unlike its mentor, omen is of the affably evil variety. it’s sarcastic and it’s vitriolic, but it’s not grumpy. it remains some of its old friendly demeanor and enjoys talking with anyone who can banter with it, even if it’s frustrated or annoyed with them. omen often uses charisma to its advantage
deep down, there’s still that vulnerable core, the person omen was to begin with. because omen is convinced that money, property, and standoffishness are the only means by which it can truly be safe, though, it’s wrapped that core in like 50 layers of barbed wire and electric fence
(here’s post-arc omen, by the way!)
Tumblr media
backstory:
has no memory of any sort of family, human or otherwise; omen only remembers waking up one day in the woods, hungry, cold, and alone. for a while omen survived like this, until it caught the scent of roasting meat, saw a light in the forest, and decided to investigate
this would turn into the first of many instances of omen being rejected, attacked, or otherwise treated with hostility by humans— largely because of his appearance and mannerisms. he has spent much of his life traveling from place to place in the forms of various animals, searching for food and shelter and leaving only when he’s been pushed out. this is how, over time, omen made his way to london. almost all of his time there has been spent in the form of a cat or a crow, and he’s narrowly dodged several incidents.
omen met ebenezer, its mentor, when prudence captured it in its cat form and dragged it into the house. ebenezer reluctantly nursed the injured cat back to health, only to be shocked and horrified when it took humanoid form and begged him to let it repay him. a lot of confused screaming and one contract later, and the rest was history

'For once, I'd liked a good feeling...'
Ship Writing no. 2 Geoffrey x Julian (@fumikomiyasaki)
TW: Serious Writing Alerted! (Bit Steamy, Slight Spice, and the Various Choices of the Language)
_____________________________________________
"Alright, that's it for today! Let's call it a wrap, you dorks!"
Yelled a grunt but a loud voice, coming a very upset current manager, who stuck in record of headaches for the past few weeks. The dancers who were in the next line of the next show for the incoming performance was heading underway but the current manager of the Performance Division, Geoffrey was having another pack headache during the preparations.
"We'll be continuing the next routine at later date for the planned finale. You and your asses better be prepared or the next one line for getting late will a get another warning from me. That's it." Geoffrey stated then rubbed his forehead in hopes of soothing his mind that had been in slight pain for the past few days, after that he then left the practice room, with the other remaining demonic dancers getting their things and head on.
Although there was one certain dancer who caught the sight of the Manager's headaches, a smirk that was quite visible was enough for him to get some ideas to sooth and get quality some time with grumpy yet hollow demon.
But oh, so of course, he wouldn't miss this one of kind chance yet, though some planning had to come in mind.l first before the action commence.
-------------------------------------
"Alrighty then Mr. Juju, what's brewing in that puny little mind of yours? Something good happened today?" Snickered a perked up yet interested hollow demon Hiromi, who happened to see Julian with his younger sister April at one of the drink stander tables nearby at the two poker tables in the Casino Division of the dormitory with Toshihiro tending the two siblings as she saw in the opposite side of the table.
"Brewing what on Hiromi?" Julian remarked, showing the smirk to keep the conversation rather at peak.
"I saw that little smirk of yours after that practice ended, another new way to convince Geo for your tiny bidding again? That sounds rather of a cheat for the show~!" The female demon joked with somewhat of a pitiful smile, which Julian eye-rolled at her while April was cleaning up her deck of cards for the next game while watching the conversation with Toshihiro.
"It's not about 'cheating' on the show Hiro. How about that 'something' for the boss?" Julian stated, his grin about his idea didn't seem to fade one bit.
"Yeah we get that already, you damn of a cocky-ass, you're planning something on Grumpo G, aren't ya?" Toshihiro spoke, sounding rather sarcastic for anyone to hear within the dormitory of the gambling and deceitful shows of the underground knowing that it was hell, obviously.
"Well at least someone gets me."
"Now you're just being rude at me? Quite a meanie of you then."
"So then, what's on your mind involving Mister G then?" April wondered as she looked at her older brother, then was getting quite interesting with the flow of the talks between her fellow two seniors and her older brother and decided to tag along in it as well.
It was quite the interesting fact the residents of this dorm came from the dimensional rift border itself before the arrival of the half-myths and more of the other races who came from the rift amongst it's seven countries, normal at sight but was never sane to begin at it's start of the creations. The only seeable demonic residents within the country of Dungeon Inkhell was an absolute underground gravestoned city where they came from. Quite the dark modern itself if you ever see it, but anyone such as the four types of the demons are there are the brutality and sinnerly personaliry in the veins of any demon as well.
Well apparently, many at random can be a victim or the star of the main bloodshed they caused at whatever reason they held, depending it was personal or another thing to be kept in the dark... Though many can show some concern at least or they can just ignore it completely. But that's how many of the demons are within the neverending bloody city itself in the rift.
"Anyways~ Boss is having another of his painful headaches, right? Well perfect timing, cause I planned a little something for the grumpy old hottie." Julian smirked, that looked rather heated onto his idea for his target that he isn't letting it go.
Hiromi had somewhat giggled but rather sinisterly at the hot yet bothered attracted sinner demon Julian towards their boss Geoffrey, Toshihiro eye-rolled at him then April elbowed with a demonic smirk at her older brother left rib but he wasn't bothered by it. Though the three demons didn't bother it to continue towards Julian himself... Though, he seems rather excited for it by the time his boss is soon free from his workload.
-------------------------------------
Tumblr media
It was rather wonderful, not much for Geoffrey himself though to say the very least.
The pain within his own head isn't leaving at anytime soon, though Geoffrey had been dealing with it for a while but the pills with it's description were definitely not cooperating with him. The preparation for the next show is underway right now, but with this headache that lasted nearly longer than he thought it might be, it will eventually slow him down faster.
The hollow demon was laying on his bed after the day had slowly ended after the practice, and right now he is resting for tomorrow's stage preparation and the next choreography for the dancers to teach and practice for the show. Yet again, the headache he's having might be his current problem to with much to his dismay of annoyance as he rubbed his forehead as the clock of his room chimed.
"Hah... To her fellow deathness to her sins, why is the duck is this happening to me?" He grumbled, while he was trapped in his thoughts about his headache. A rather visible knock came on his door, a voice had also came through it.
"Oh Boss~ You still up yet, handsome?"
"What the fuck is it now, Julian?"
It was obvious for Geoffrey alone to know who was at his front door of his room, with enough to stand up from his bed, he went to open his front door at his bedroom, only finding Julian who was leaning at his door frame, smirking at his front expression. Though Geoffrey was in his pajamas and so was Julian, however he didn't hesitate to get a good look from his boss and his clothes with his own eyes.
"That's quite a stress work you got there, does it?" Julian flirted with the same cockiness in him, which Geoffrey didn't react much to his flirtings as he should and gave him an visible annoyed look.
"None of my own shit will ever be involves with yours moron, what the seven-layers in hell are you doing here?" Geoffrey asked rather bluntly looking at Julian before him at his door, though he seems rather perplexed but still remained annoyed at Julian's smirking face.
"Boss, I have been aware of your little headache problem by now. Kinda slowing you down to bottom rocks. Doncha't think? I wouldn't mind massaging that pain of yours away~" Julian teased as he walked himself into the room with Geoffrey closing and locking his door.
"What the fuck are you mentioning?" The hollow demon muttered audible enough for the sinner demon to hear him, looking at Julian who pressed him onto the bed as he laid on top of him to get a closer look of his annoyed face.
"A good relaxing massage for your head, boss. Surely you wouldn't mind me relieving your pain in the head, it wouldn't hurt to give it a try with me. What do you say?" Julian smirked as he let himself pressed onto Geoffrey's chest as the two fell onto the bed behind his back, with Julian looking at Geoffrey as he licked his lips looking at him from the top of his view. As if he got a free yet yummy snack for himself go have within a VIP dining hall, having it alone with no one else bothering them.
"Tch... You and your ways of having it.." Geoffrey mumbled as he stand up for an angle position for Julian to work, as he then pressed his fingers onto his forehead- messaging it slowly so that Geoffrey wouldn't wince at the pain that lasted for a few days, with only using his two thumbs and just pressing it with the normal pressure, which it would make it work for someone with a typical headache.
The massage that the sinner demon had made for his boss didn't last much long but apparently it had somewhat worked as the hollow demon can feel that the pain had somewhat left his mind thanks to it. After a short while of doing it- in somewhat of a position that the two were in, especially in a bedroom alone. The hollow demon rubbed his main certain of his forehead, sensing that some of the pain had completely left his brain.
"Well? How was it, boss? Relaxing~?" Julian teased, smirking at Geoffrey who then made eye-contact at him, stayed silent till he responded.
"Not bad I guess, but I don't remember asking a rent free treatment. Especially from you." Geoffrey replied, giving him the same blunt reaction as usual.
Soon then, Julian then re-position himself from as he laid onto his boss's bed under the covers, he then quickly pulled Geoffrey down with him so that he can feel the incoming heated tension between them tonight. Julian then showed a wider smirk that any demon can make when it comes to this rising feeling.
"Well~ I'd like to get things going rather further~"
"Heh... For once, I'd liked a good feeling..."
There wasn't a even a slightest hesitation for the two demons to jump into it for the night is that is still young but always young for two demons, having fun...
Only with no one else around, it's just them alone to have it all.

Also @aidoneushatesmilk asked me to do #8 for Disco Elysium SO -- 8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about For the sake of thoroughness I'm saving my original answer below this one because I WENT OFF lmao but as a second probably more accurate answer -- I feel like people exaggerate Jean's anger issues. Again, I haven't finished playing, but I'm struck by how... I dunno, normal his conversation with Harry seems to be while undercover? Like yeah he's annoyed and sarcastic and grumpy but jesus the way some of the fandom likes to knock him around you'd think all he's good for is being depressed and angry over Harry. I'm applying the He Xuan treatment to him. He's my favorite side character now and I understand him in a way no one else does, or I will once I finish the game anyway. I am going to make it my personal mission to understand Jean Vicquemare in a way no one should ever want to. He's my babygirl now.
Secondary answer below the cut:
[kicks in the door, skids to a stop and faceplants] okay listen to me. I am holding everyone's cheeks so gently when I say this.
Kim would not be into watching Harry cry and much less making him cry. This legit should have been my "you can't understand why so many people like this thing" answer except I get WHY. I know why we want it, like. Trust me I do. I've read the set ups.
But a post I saw yesterday put into good words why I feel that way and it comes back to "When Harry's soft, Kim is softer. When Harry has more bite, Kim bites back." There's no evidence to me, at all, that Kim enjoys kicking Harry when he's down. When he reacts less-than-favorably to Harry shaving his face, he also tries to backtrack it to be nicer about it. The times he snaps is when Harry's actively been an asshole about something, i.e. not being a "sad cop" about it. But ultimately Kim is all about remaining in control of himself, his actions, the way others perceive him and his professionalism (the constant reminders about not making the RCM look bad...). And while I think Kim is trained to deal with extreme emotions, it doesn't come naturally to him. I think confronted with a crying Harry Du Bois, for whatever reason, Kim's first instinct would be, "This has to stop before anything productive can get done." So I just like... I cannot imagine a world where Kim Kitsuragi, as he is presented in canon, would enjoy watching or making Harry cry. There we go. There's my hot take from reading so. much. fanfiction.

Dimples Extras: Part Three
My (likely) final part to BTS stuff for my ResDogs fic Dimples.
Part one was about the original outline. Part two the order of events.
Part three is the cut portion of chapter five: The Trial. From beginning, leading up to the very moment it cuts to the fic proper.
So-
Why cut it?
The chapter felt a little light, initially. Encountered this before, with Dimples, and added the first two chapter/POVs to bulk things out. Thought I could do the same here. Very much got carried away.
The cons: Much of the arguments/dialogue only really work if this were a manslaughter trial, not armed robbery. So, while I feel it's adequate enough, it's not really what the story needs.
The pros: I loved the change to Keats' POV at the beginning. Larry's sass, Pink's vulnerability. The character witnesses? Callbacks to previous events in canon/fanfic? I was really proud of my efforts. Alas, it didn't fit, so it got cut. Gets to live on here, though.
Before the outtake proper, if you're looking for legal true crime drama written by someone who actually knows what they're doing, I highly recommend 'And the Sea Will Tell' by Vincent Bugliosi and Bruce Henderson. Literally the brain rot that took hold and made me think 'I can write that!' No, no I cannot. Very well done and does a great job in humanizing all involved, most importantly the victims. Bugliosi is truly one of the GOATs.
CHAPTER FIVE: The Trial
Their second meeting in as many weeks, and Keats gets down to business, “I imagine the two of you will be pleading not guilty?”
“I mean, it’s the only way this’ll work, right?” Pink asks.
“Mostly because if we plead guilty, that implies we’ve cut a deal.” Larry says.
“Which means we’ll get cut.”
“Okay, that aside, I have a task for you two.” Keats takes a long drag, holds, exhales, “I need you to make me a list, ready by my next visit. I want, need, the both of you to come up with at least ten names apiece.”
Larry’s already gearing up to argue, to which Keats raises a hand, “Not to snitch on, but people you know. People who can vouch for you.”
“Character witnesses?” Pink guesses.
“Exactly.”
“Thought we were paying you to do that for us?” Larry snarks.
“Oh, you want me to be a mind-reader? I’m supposed to just know who you’ve interacted with, who likes you, who doesn’t?” he stubs out his cigarette. He tears two sheets of paper from his notepad, and passes them two pieces of jail-approved crayon, “Parents?”
“Dead.” Larry says. Pink echoes the sentiment.
“Siblings?”
“Dead.” Larry quickly, blandly replies.
“Only child.” Pink starts to sink further into his seat.
“Aunts, uncles, cousins?”
Larry stares at him, as if the answer’s obvious.
“They don’t want nothing to do with me.” Pink grumbles.
“Former employers?”
Larry’s expression remains stony, “I’ve never worked a real job in my life.”
“I’m sorry?”
“Real, legit, respectable. A nine-to-five? Never did those.”
Pink says, “I worked at a movie theatre when I was seventeen. All my coworkers were the same age, just about. A real ‘inmates running the asylum’ kind of thing.”
Keats sighs. It was going to be a long day.
The third meeting, and both of Keats’ clients only manage to gather five names each. He frowns, but it’s better than nothing.
“Will any of these people have something bad to say?” he asks, reading down the first list.
“I mean, maybe.” Pink shrugs.
“When the prosecution does cross-exams, that could come up.” Keats bites back a laugh, “Unless all the good things these picks have to say are really pitiful, doing the prosecution’s job for them.”
“Careful there, Keats, you sound a little too choked up about that.” Larry stares at him.
He lays the papers flat on the metal table, looking first from grumpy-and-sarcastic to grumpy-and-sad, “You do know that you’ll be found guilty? No matter what?”
“I mean, in essence, sure.” Pink nods, arms crossed, “All for show.”
“The jury, unless it’s a particularly dense pool, will find the two of you guilty of armed robbery. The person in that courtroom, the only one that matters, that we need to try and impress, is the judge. Because,” he continues just as both his clients were about to speak, “the judge liking you, sympathizing, being amused or convinced by you will be the difference between ten years and thirty.”
“Do you-” Pink starts, stops, begins again, “Do you expect us to take the stand?”
“Fuck no. That’d be a disaster. That’s why I need character witnesses.”
Silently, Larry motions for his paper to be passed back over. Keats complies, and the other scribbles down a couple more names. Gives it back.
“Thank you.” that’s the first bit of civil cooperation during the whole meeting. He looks to Pink, who for a second appears guilty, like he can’t return the gesture. That’s gone a moment later, replaced with a look of indifference. Keats decides to make things a little lighter, “I expect you to get ten years, at best.” he says to the younger man, “Him?” he gestures to Larry, “Will be lucky if he gets twenty.”
The smirk on Pink’s face is rewarding, and Keats suddenly realizes just why it was so easy for a cop to go to bat for these two idiots.
Finally, trial day arrives. Dressed in cheap suits eerily similar to their heist garb, Larry and Pink are shuffled into the courtroom. Larry spots Freddy, sitting several rows back directly behind the defense’s side. He hates having to look away. They are seated, only to stand as the judge enters. The honorable Patricia Mendez takes her seat. ‘So, this is who we have to impress?’
The District Attorney starts things off, stating just what the county wants done with the two of them, “Our goal here, today, ladies and gentlemen, is to begin the process of proving that the defendants sitting here before you robbed a jewelry store, setting off a chain of events that lead to the biggest tragedy of all.” he gets to that line, lets the implication hang there, and then steps back, “We hope that, by the end of this trial, you will do the right thing, and find these two guilty of armed robbery with intent to endanger and harm.”
Keats gets in front of the courtroom, and says “I will not argue that my clients were part of this robbery.” With that sentence alone, the room erupts with the buzz of conversation, “However, to say that they willfully endangered people? Intended for harm to be done?” Keats shakes his head, as if the very idea were ridiculous, “By the end of this trial, you will see that my clients wanted nothing more than diamonds, and a clean getaway. And how colleagues of theirs, that they didn’t even personally know, turned it into a bloodbath, and how the defendants shouldn’t have to pay for the actions of the dead.”
“What the fuck?” Larry hisses, the sounds of an equally outraged crowd drowning him out.
“Maybe he’s trying to make us relatable?” Pink shrugs, “I mean, I know this is all for show, but I didn’t think he’d throw it like this.”
The order of events is presented by the prosecution. Security footage, though grainy as shit, can only clearly show Blonde- Vega- doing the killing. There’s also plenty of footage of the whole crew, Larry and Pink included, waving guns about. The prosecution plants the idea that everyone knew what kind of loose cannon Vega was. Even now, it makes Larry’s blood boil. That shit was never supposed to go down like that. Vega ruined everything.
Mr. Keats gets up there and plays the reasonable doubt card. You don’t know for certain the others’ guns are loaded. You certainly can’t tell from the footage if the safety’s on or off. Everyone shared weapons, at least six different fingerprints pulled from each. Everyone else was a criminal, but a professional. Vega was unhinged. Ultimately, the goal is to make the jury separate the crew’s intentions from what Vega did spontaneously.
Evidence is next wheeled out. Dozens of guns, recovered mostly from the dead bodies of Pink and White’s crew, are put on display to ask the nonverbal question; if there was never an intention to pull the trigger, why pack so much firepower? On its own separate table is the elusive bag of diamonds. Pink looks at it oddly. “They’ve been dippin’ into our stash.” he whispers.
“What?”
“There’s less diamonds than before.”
Larry isn’t surprised to know the cops are crooked, but is a little interested, “How can you tell?”
“I’m the only one who held them, remember?” He’s talking like it’s a family heirloom that got wrongly wrapped-up in the case, and solely belongs to Pink.
There’s a piece of paper that sits next to the bag of diamonds. The prosecution points to this, explaining it to be a receipt from the diner they ate at, just minutes before doing the heist. The DA reads off every item of food ordered, trying to paint a visceral picture in the minds of the jury, that, even after a big meal, people like this can more than stomach work like that. It’d almost be comical, if decades behind bars weren’t on the line.
The DA picks up a bloodied straight razor with a gloved hand, and starts to explain what Vega used it for, which causes Keats to object, “This piece of evidence had nothing to do with the robbery, or even the jewelry store.”
The prosecutor counters, “It’s establishing the character of the people the defendants worked with.”
The judge allows discussion of the razor, a brief mention of rookie cop Marvin Nash, but clarifies to the jury to disregard it as part of the main charge. Character building only, the judge warns, and that there will be a line that can’t be crossed.
The evidence portion concludes, with a surprising lack of forensic evidence, or lab technicians on the stand, and the first day of the trial comes to an end.
 The next day is dedicated to character witnesses, a chance for both sides to humanize/demonize the defendants at length.
First is the waitress from the diner, the day of the robbery. Miss Marlena Lopez takes the stand, as the judge smiles warmly at her.
“What’s that about?” Pink whispers to Keats.
“Eh, judge has got a soft spot for waitresses. It’s how she paid her way through law school.”
Larry looks over in time to see Pink mouth the words ‘fuck me’ before catching himself.
Early twenties, college student, waitress since she was sixteen. Says she saw all these men in suits and thought they must be white collar types, getting ready for a big meeting. Agreed to wait their table, hoping for a big tip from well-off customers. They ate, drank, and talked loudly and crudely for the better part of an hour. By the end, the bill was sizable, and the tip pitiful. Aside from that, they weren’t standouts from their usual customers, and otherwise behaved themselves.
Keats gets up there to see if Ms. Lopez had anything particular to add about his clients, “Just that they thought they were being more slick than they were. The skinny one there tried to justify not tipping me.”
“Oh. Ah-”
“And the old guy went on about how much of an asshole that one was being. Real feminist type. I liked him.” she blushes, looks over to the judge, “Sorry, ma’am.”
“You’re fine.” she gives a warm smile, and just for a moment glances over at Pink.
 The retired chief of police from Milwaukee, Wisconsin takes the stand, describing the various offenses on Larry Dimmick’s local rap sheet. Stealing things from an early age, picking fights in school, then at various jobs, then against other criminals. How this wasn’t the first time he’s been charged with armed robbery. Keats, on cross-exam, got out of the retired chief the fact that a lot of charges against Dimmick, of a more serious nature, didn’t stick because of a technicality, and shouldn’t be compared to what he’s currently on trial for.
 Pink, with the shorter career, and a knack for fleeing the scene, didn’t have as serious of a witness against him. Who did choose to testify against him, however, was the principal of his old high school, then just a VP. She describes Pink as a youth; a loner, no friends, only ran track and took part in no other extracurricular activities. Was severely bullied for the first half of his freshman year, and then, after winter break, returned to school to not return the favor by fighting, but by offering his bullies access to the test keys for end of year exams. Only to give them fake ones, causing them all to fail, which no one found out about until the next school year.
Next, from the club Joe and company frequented, is the bartender. A younger guy named Justin Andrews. A newer hire, worked at the club for about six months before the Cabots showed up for their latest scheme. Andrews had spotted the crew right away, marking them as trouble, and told his employer. His boss then said not to worry about it, they’re good customers. Justin goes on record saying he never liked the look of any of them, what with talking in hushed tones, staring down strangers that got too close to their table. Larry leans over to Keats, and tells him that is all bullshit, you couldn’t whisper to anybody in a joint like that. They had drinks and a good time, bothered no one. Keats listens and uses just this during cross exam, making Mr. Andrews more than a little flustered.
Another bartender is called, this time from the place only White and Orange visited. A man closer to Larry’s age named Mike Sloan, he testifies to the defendant and another man coming in and minding their own business, when another patron, completely blasted, starts to try and pick a fight. Explains the situation leading up to it, his date for the night getting pissed and throwing her drink at him, and the man proceeding to make everyone else very uncomfortable. How Larry tried to verbally calm things down, and that his companion engaged the drunk patron in a fight. That by the time the two left, the instigator on the ground, a pocket knife was found laying next to him, and that it in fact belonged to said drunkard. Keats uses this to show that his client (at least one) was not prone to violence, even in the face of having a weapon drawn on him. That Larry even tried de-escalation. Pink looks over at Larry, a little surprised, himself.
It being late in the day, the judge declares that the court reconvene tomorrow, where witness testimony proper will begin.
Day three starts off with a bang; a survivor of the jewelry store, an employee who hid in the manager’s office.
Sheryll Pryor is middle-aged, shy, timid. She recalls hearing a man declare that everyone needed to get down on the ground, that a robbery was taking place. She locked and barricaded the office door, and could see nothing. Just heard sirens, then shooting. “Is that exactly as it happened?” Keats asks, and she confirms it once more.
Testimony of a survivor, one that refused to appear in court, is read aloud by the DA. That one of the deceased, Vic Vega, began shooting at the employees, the customers. Keats crosses this, asking if the witness mentioned anything about hearing sirens. The prosecution says no.
Keats calls Pryor back to the stand, to ask how long she worked at the store. Five years is her reply. In that time, had she ever experienced hearing something clearly in the manager’s office, only for people in the main store to be unawares? Yes, frequently, is her answer.
In the way of law enforcement, few are called to testify. Before the first day of trial, Keats explained to his clients why this would be the case; the LAPD knows there’s something off about their own accounts, and doesn’t want to draw too much attention to it, such as the lack of concern over the disappearance of Officer Nash, or the slow response time to the warehouse as soon as Joe Cabot entered the building. Things of this nature would be embarrassing, should it come up. Only the most necessary or experienced would be allowed to testify, for the sake of minimizing the damage.
One such person is a Detective Thompson, lead on the case. He describes arriving on the scene, apprehending one of the defendants who carried the bag of stolen diamonds. Next, of entering the warehouse, and seeing all of the bodies strewn about. Of the other defendant holding an undercover agent hostage, threatening to shoot. How, despite warnings, he still pulled the trigger.
For the first time in several moments, Larry remembers to breathe. It feels like hours, but Thompson finally leaves the stand. As he passes, the detective gives Larry and Pink, but mostly Larry, the tiniest of smirks. Larry feels cold sweat break out along his back.

Okay, headcanons for Sen Kaibara and Hiryu Rin (mylittleotp)
I'll do them separately, i think it'll be cleaner like this.
Starting with Kaibara!
- His best friend at UA is probably Tsuburaba, who never fails to make him smile - and that is a pretty difficult thing to do lol
- But he gets along pretty well with almost anyone who's a good opponent in hand-to-hand combat, particularly Rin, Kendo and Tetsutetsu. He'd never turn down an oppprtunity for a friendly sparring with one of them
- He has a twin brother (i will call him Ren as a placeholder) and it's just so funny how they look exactly identical but act like polar opposites. Sen is calm, introverted and down-to-earth while Ren is a friendly, outgoing artist who likes spending his time writing poems and painting pictures that Sen will probably never understand
Sen: So, what is this
Ren: A painting, obviously
Sen: Yeah but what's on the painting
Ren: ...Sen, it's abstract art. It's supposed to be a reflection of my soul.
Sen: What does that even mean
No one knows how did they grow up to be so different.
- He's considered very good-looking and so is Ren. So you had two extremely pretty young boys in one middle school class. According to one of their classmates who appearently did some kind of a survey, 50% of people in their class had a crush on at least one of them
- Yeah so it's no surprise there's always some girl trying to flirt with him too bad he's about as straight as a circle
- He's definitely not a very emotional person. He remains completely calm most of the time, his resting bitch face™ making him come across as grumpy and/or eternally bored to people who see him for the first time
- He's somehow incapable of blushing
- He doesn't smile often either - he usually does so when fighting (boy, he loves fighting. Especially when he can use his quirk), looking at a particularly good photo he managed to take or talking to Tsuburaba because... Kosei's just a really funny guy, y'know
- I don't think it's a headcanon at this point, more like widely accepted fanon: But yes, his hobby is photography (i think i even mentioned it earlier) You can often see him with a camera hanging on his neck, his room looks like a photo gallery and he has multiple photo albums
- Including one titled simply "UA", which contains many photos taken during his high school years, most featuring at least one of his classmates. Of course he's planning to show it to every one of his class B friends at the end of their third year
- Some of these photos are absolutely hilarious because Sen often gets dragged along with his friends' antics and stays somewhere on the side taking photos of the chaos
- And the fabulously sarcastic captions he adds make these photos even better. Yes he's super stoic and unexpressive but he still has a sense of humor
- Actually every one of the Common Sense Kings can play at least one instrument. Awase can play the harmonica, Kaibara can play the guitar (it's just a few very specific songs that his brother taught him, though)
Tumblr media
So yeah. I think that's all i have for him. Nothing particularly deep. Here, have a colored sketch

A/N: Okay but this idea is so unbelievably cute?! I apologize for taking forever to get it done. I went a bit deep and overboard with the storyline on a request that is so simple and I’m pretty sure this is my longest one up to date actually BUT- it’s whatever. There’s plenty of fluff near the end, I promise. I enjoyed writing this and I hope you enjoy reading it too!! 🤍
(If this flops, I will be so sad omg)

Description: One day after having to escort Polnareff as orders from your boss, you begin to grow quite fond of him. During your usual hangouts, you jokingly offer to kiss him as a way to recreate one of your favorite fairytales.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You giggle as Jean pulls you into a kiss, you feel him smile as he holds your face gently. You’re happy to see the man you love not be as serious and hurt as he was when you first met him. Your expression reminiscent of the memories shared between you before this moment.
~A Year Before~
Your personal servant had drawn the curtains. Your eyes fluttered open, body awaken by the bright sunlight shining from your windows and murmurs outside your bedroom. You groaned in frustration as you threw a pillow at him, he managed to catch it and place it back by your bed frame. You huffed,
“Didn’t boss say I have the week off? I’m allowed to sleep in.” you stated blankly, remembering how you had the strong urge to strangle him for ruining your slumber. He shook his head as he sat by the edge of your bed and pointed at the clock that stood on top of your nightstand. You distinctly remember the screen marked 7:25AM exactly. You sighed as you thought you could’ve at least slept in by 10. You sat up and criss crossed your legs and played with the lose strings of your blanket as he replied.
“Technically you do, but today is last minute and different. Sr. Giovanna wants you to escort out a close individual he works with today by 8.”
Frustrated, you plopped your hands down onto your lap and rolled your eyes as you said back,
“Not to be bratty but...can’t he just do that himself or get one of you to do it?” you raised your pointers and middle fingers to create air quotations “This individual must be pretty important if not even the boss can take care of it.”
Your servant shut his eyes and sighed. After what you had just told him, deep down you felt bad about how much he had to deal with your bull on a daily basis- not to mention your constant grumbling in the morning whether he woke you or not. Either way, you were pretty grumpy most mornings. He shook his head again.
“It’s not that either. Sr. Giovanna could easily lead him out but he’s currently finishing business with other people in the country. Sr. Mista is with him as well so you’re the only one we have present. They both must attend all meetings, they are not to miss one.
“Okay, but that still doesn’t answer my question. What’s so important about him or her or whatever the hell they go by?”
“I’ll let you figure that out for yourself.” He said finally as he patted your bed as a way to non-verbally tell you to get ready.
You huffed when he exited the room, plopping your back down hard into the foamy mattress. You roughly grabbed at the pillow you had thrown earlier and placed it over your face, you screamed into it for a good 10 seconds.
Looking back, were you being a little too dramatic? Yes, sure- of course. It’d make anyone cringe if they were to had witnessed it though you didn’t really mind. You were still maturing anyway. You were still getting used to the life Giorno Giovanna and Guido Mista had offered and gladly given to you.
Before meeting your boss Giovanna and his right hand man Mista, you had been living life miserably at home. Though before anyone asks, no: your parents were not abusive, no: your siblings weren’t either, no: nor were your friends or teachers. You had just become very distressed with the life you were leading on. You didn’t like the person you were and were expected to become. Anxiety took over rather unexpectedly. So what did you do when you had enough? You moved on to drugs.
You were surprised to find out how easy it was for a person in their late teens to gain access towards those terrible substances. But none the less, you later learned your dealer was from the mafia known as “Passione.”
Was it dangerous for you to have figured out that information? Yes. However, you remained cautious and never told a soul...until one day you bumped into the now late capo, Bruno Bucciarati.
You were walking down your local dealing alleyway, hands in pockets and school bag still in sight. You usually dealt after school as many adults were distracted by the kids that filled up the streets. Thus making them barely notice the illegal activity going on as a large number of students would walk down alleyways as a shortcut to their home. You were swift in paying back and receiving your desired substances anyway.
All of a sudden you heard a distant call, a call out of your name. You stopped dead in your tracks and turned around to look at the direction from where the call was coming from, that’s when you saw him. He stood a few feet from you.
“I’m glad I was able to find you...my name is Bruno Bucciarati. Your parents sent me to look for you, they’ve mentioned to me that you’ve been coming home late from school lately.”
You only shrugged and completely ignored his claim. You began walking away but were stopped again when he said,
“Leaky eyed Luca deals with you, doesn’t he?”
You kept your gaze forward and your back turned away from Bruno. Turning your head slightly over your shoulder, you mumbled,
“If I say yes, will you leave me alone?”
Without having to look at him, you knew he had tilted his head when he answered.
“That depends. If you answer honestly, no trouble will occur. I’ll remain calm with you, that is a promise.”
You blinked, sighing as you kicked at the small pebbles near your feet, staring at your shoes as you thought about what he said.
You had been dealing with Luca and you knew that his business was risky. Though you didn’t care. You felt that you needed to get the drugs you wanted pronto and Luca was the only one who would give them to you quickly. You shook your head, deciding to give up as you didn’t want anyone to notice you both speaking. You turned to face him and quietly replied,
“Yes, he deals with me. He’s the provider, I’m the receiver.”
Bruno smiled, satisfied with your answer.
He followed up with informing you that Luca had been killed at a local airport and was told to investigate his death. He didn’t provide too many details as to the cause of his death but you didn’t feel like asking anyway. Bruno admitted he came to speak to you as hours prior one of your parents really did come to speak to him about your behavior. After connecting some dots, he suspected you had something to do with Luca’s death as you were not attending school and were gone for most of the day. Not to mention, your teachers had called your parents that day as well.
Luckily, he was able to clear you out as a suspect as you cooperated with him and weren’t sweaty or completely jittery. He also gave you a little talk about using drugs. He promised he wouldn’t tell your parents that you got yourself involved in that abusive life if you promised to not buy more again.
You truly felt at the time that he was the only one who understood and cared for you in just the short time you met him. Your eyes watered as you complied with Bruno, promising to do what he suggested. A promise you have held onto forever.
After some investigating of your own, you found out that it was your future boss that killed Luca. You were rather impressed than angry that he was able to kill him. You honestly believed Luca would never be caught.
Back to the day you had to escort this individual- after some more complaining and grumpy remarks towards everyone in the household, you were finally ready to meet them. Your personal servant led you to the front door. He made sure to quietly remind you to be polite.
Your attention turned to another servant walking down the stairs towards your direction. A pillow in hand with a piece of cloth covering whatever was on top it. You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion, laughing as you sarcastically remarked,
“Is this some kind of joke? It’s not April, is it?”
“No, but I guess this household treating me with the upmost respect is.”
Your eyes widen. ‘Did that thing under the cloth just speak?” you asked yourself.
The servant removed the cloth and there revealed a turtle. A turtle with a key-shaped hole embedded on its shell. You almost assumed that the turtle smirked at you when he added,
“I know, don’t be too surprised. I plan to get out of this animal once my soul decides to give up. I haven’t always looked like this, ya know.”
Your mouth gaped open as to say something, but you quickly shut it as you didn’t know how to reply. He chuckled,
“Hand me over to them, we’ll talk more when we get to my destination.”
You hesitantly took the pillow from the servant’s hands and remained in shock as you walked out the door. You were careful not to drop him as you got down to the front gates. Gulping as you asked,
“So...my servant wasn’t that specific on me having to leave you in the car or actually riding with you. It’s kind of my fault as I don’t like to listen and talk in the morning...”
You nervously laughed as he looked up to you. He replied,
“It’s quite alright. I was told you have to ride with me. But don’t worry, you won’t have to stay for long. It’s only around a 10 minute ride.”
“Yeah, okay.”
You sat behind the passenger seat and placed the pillow in the middle, right next to your side.
The ride was relatively quiet, you looked out the window as you kept a fist under your chin. Your expression showed that of concern. You were too nervous to say anything. Even though he had joked back earlier, you were afraid he didn’t like you as his voice stayed stern throughout your small talk. You were afraid you had offended him in some way.
Your mood changed when the driver alerted that you had arrived. You thanked him as he opened the door for you, your hands grasped the pillow tightly so the talking turtle wouldn’t fall. You asked him with a small voice.
“Is there anywhere you’d like for me to set you?”
“Yes... put me on top of that balcony over there. I want to look at the lake.”
“Of course.”
You did as he said and sat him on the balcony. Your eyes gleamed when you caught sight of the glimmering water and greenery of the setting. You’ve always known that Italy is one of the most beautiful places in the world but at that time you had forgotten and were fascinated all over again. Like when a child sees a playground for the first time.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” he asked, you nodded.
“Yes, it really is. It’s no wonder you asked me set you on here.”
“Yes... I wanted to look at one more beautiful sight before I go. Like I said earlier, my soul is no longer fit to be here, so I might as well admire my surroundings for now.”
Your mind quickly became curious after he said that. You wanted to know more behind what he meant. You weren’t going back to that car until you got answers. So to make things easy, you started off with asking his name.
“If you don’t mind... would you like to tell me your name?”
“It’s Jean. Jean Pierre Polnareff.”
‘So he’s French.’ you remember thinking, his accent wasn’t too thick but you assumed and your assumption was right. After that, you went on to tell him your name and your experiences before meeting boss Giorno Giovanna. He shared the same with you.
You talked for so long in fact that you paid off the driver of your assigned car to go back and finish his shift early, promising them that you’ll find a ride later yourself.
You ended off the chatty night with placing Jean under a nearby bench and waving at him. You were saddened but Jean said he enjoyed your company so much that he’ll try to stay for longer and that you’re welcome to come him visit him everyday.
And so you did.
For months you came by to talk to him. You were happy to see that his soul wasn’t giving up yet- you knew you would cry if it were to one day. You had come to realize that you love him but you didn’t know if he felt the same way about you. You had only seen his face once- that was the day he decided to show you the physical embodiment of his soul.
You thought (and still think) he was so beautiful. The missing of bottom limbs and blindness in one eye did not bother you at all. His white-silver hair, style and personality is what did it for you. What it did to make you fall in love with his vanity and him. Just him. Jean himself.
~A Year Later~
It’s been a year now and as per usual, you spent half your days speaking to Jean by that same lake you were ordered to drive him to.
Boss Giovanna and Mista have noticed how fast you are in missions since then. They appreciate that you get things done but they still remain curious as to why you’re more happy and less grumpy than you were before. Though they don’t bother to ask, as they’re kind and don’t want to ruin your pure joy.
Today isn’t particularly different. All you had done earlier in the day was speak to a few citizens in town and dealt with giving details to your boss about a certain drug epidemic at a school. Nothing too out of the ordinary, a situation like this occurred at your old school too years back. Your duties were basically done once you learned information got to police.
You drive down to the park where the lake is at, smiling when you see a familiar small green circle on the balcony, looking over the glimmering waters. You park in the nearest lot and lock your car after getting out. You excitedly run over to Jean and smile when he turns his little head to greet you.
“I’m glad you’ve come again.” he says with a smile.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I?” you reply in a genuine tone.
You go on to talk about random topics and subjects as you always do. The conversation moving onto favorite pieces of literature and genres.
You roll your eyes in embarrassment as you tell him your most favorite one- one that is a fairytale and goes by the name of “The Frog Prince.”
“Well... it’s very fem of me but I really enjoy fairytales. Especially the ones from the Grimm brothers. My favorite is actually “The Frog Prince”
You place your elbow on the rail and use a hand to cover your burning cheek. Hoping that the redness rushing to your face won’t be noticed by Jean and that the sunset covers it up. Jean only laughs and hopes to comfort you when he says,
“Oh, that’s fine. Who cares if it’s feminine? They’re very well written stories and people shouldn’t be ashamed for what they like. I admire that your favorite genre is fairytale, you don’t hear people say that as often, you know?”
His words do comfort you and you thank him for that. He welcomes you and you feel like you’re actually looking into his sapphire eyes. The ones you fell in love with so long ago. You speak up before you’re even able to fully think.
“Say, the frog prince and the princess kissing, huh? Why don’t we kiss and see if it turns you back?”
Shit.
‘Did I really just ask that?’ you ask yourself ‘What the actual hell is wrong with you?!”
“I don’t see why not...”
“Huh?”
You’re stunned. You thought he would get offended for spurting out such a stupid thing. Of course your request won’t work- that shit is from a story book. It’s pure fiction. This is real life.
He’s a turtle now and you’re a human. You can’t and you won’t kiss him. You raise your hands up in defense.
“Hey, no! No need to play along after saying something so stupid to make me feel better. I just blurted that out I’m so sorry-“
“No, it’s okay. And I’m not playing along, I’m being serious. Go ahead. I’ve grown to like you a lot, a small kiss wouldn’t hurt.”
This answer is not what you expected. You nervously fiddle with your fingers as you look around. You sigh as you give in.
“Fine. I like you a lot too and I’ll do it. Let me just-“
You lift up the top half of Jean, his front turtle legs up in the air and his little face staring up at you. You take a deep breath and close your eyes, you slowly lean in and- kiss✨
The turtle falls out of your grasp. You stop puckering your lips and open your eyes. In a panicked state, you frantically look over the balcony and both sides of you to find him. You look forward and gasp. You grab at the railings to hold you steady.
There sits a groaning man on his knees. He rubs at his neck as he silently curses to himself, blinking fast and harshly as he tries to understand what’s going on around him. It’s dark now but the moon shines bright enough for you to get a better glimpse of him. You furrow your eyebrows as you slowly recognize who he is- Jean.
He has that same white-silver hair, sapphire eyes, big stature though the only difference is no eye glass in sight and his “legs” aren’t made out of metal.. they’re completely real. Flesh and all and you know that blood flows right through them like the rest of his body.
“J-Jean?” you whisper.
The man doesn’t hear you. All he does is groan and cross his legs in front of him. He stretches his arms and looks over any possible injuries on him.
“Jean.” you say again, louder this time.
He finally looks up at you. And there they are, those sapphire eyes you love so much. That face you’ve grown to be so fond off. His expression more than surprised. Though that expression quickly changes and softens- his eyes crease and a small smile appears. He says your name. And you tear up after he does.
He attempts to get up but his legs give up on him. You sprint to his side before he falls, letting him use your shoulders as support. He blushes.
“I’m sorry... I haven’t had real legs in years. Apparently I forgot how to use them...”
His voice is softer than before, the sternness isn’t there. He sounds younger almost. You giggle, as you use a hand to wipe at the tears of your eyes.
“Okay, I think I can stand now. Let go of me so I can look at you fully.”
You do as he says and as you watch him wobble, you reach out to help again but he shakes his head, waving your hands off as he’s able to maintain balance. You grin proudly when he does.
Jean turns to face you, he clasps your hands together and brings them up to his lips. You blush as he proceeds to hold them over his heart. He looks at you with pure love in his eyes.
“Thank you. Thank you so much. What you suggested was silly but it worked.”
“Yes, you’re welcome...” you say softly, looking down. He makes you look up again.
“You’re the one, my love. You always have been and always will be. My feelings for you started when we first met, I meant what I said. I have grown to like you a lot though it’s more than “like”- it’s love. And I’m so happy to know you feel the same way.”
You tear up at this and hug him. He hugs you back and you can’t believe that he does.
The turtle is no more and you have your true love back to human form.
He raises your chin up with his thumb and pointer, he kisses you and you kiss him back. The kiss long and meaningful.
You’re happy to know that the man you love, loves you too.
Here's Part 1 of my main characters over the entire fanfic spanning all 3 films. This post will outline the similarities and changes made to the now 10 members of The Fellowship of The Ring
《LINE BREAK LINE BREAK LINE BREAK》
Frodo Baggins
Tumblr media
Frodo will be a bit more of a fighter in this AU cos in the Peter Jackson trilogy he sucked in combat
Frodo will also be a bit older. He'll be the 50 years old he was in the books not the 33 from the movies
I'm going to try and delve into WHY Frodo tries so hard to save Smeagol/Gollum, believing he has to so that Frodo himself can be redeemed
Frodo will also be a bit more well versed in elven being fluent in it
Frodo will dual wield Sting and his barrow blade briefly
Frodo will have an unrequited love with Sam
Frodo is pansexual
Samwise "Sam" Gamgee
Tumblr media
Sam will be a bit more realistic then in the movie but still hopeful
Sam will also be a bit less harsh towards Gollum but still wary
This Sam is slightly smarter and less naive then movie Sam, able to understand why Frodo is so desperate to believe in Gollum
Sam will realise Frodo has feelings for him and be forced to let Frodo down gently
Sam gains an elven blade from Galadriel along with his rope
Sam departs to The Grey Havens after Rosie dies
Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck
Tumblr media
Merry keeps his barrow blade instead of losing it to the Orcs
Merry is also a bit more of a fighter, handling himself well in combat in Isengard
Merry is also a bit of a flirt
Merry is older, the same age as Frodo and Sam
Merry also has a sarcastic edge to him
Merry is asexual
Peregrin "Pippin" Took
Tumblr media
Pippin like Merry is a little bit older, around 48
Pippin is still a joker and a source of laughs
Pippin is slightly smarter and less naive due to being slightly older
Pippin is a loyal and trustworthy member of The Fellowship
Pippin progresses into a fighter, taking on orcs in the battle of Minas Tirith and at The Black Gate
Pippin is bisexual
Aragorn/Elessar
Tumblr media
Aragorn remains fairly similar to the Peter Jackson movies
However he does act a bit more kingly, being a stronger voice of decision making
Aragorn challenges Boromir in Rivendell when Boromir says Gondor needs no king
Aragorn is a sarcastic man, having a few witty remarks
Aragorn starts going by his elf name Elessar after his coronation
Gandalf/Mithrandir
Tumblr media
Gandalf is slightly softer, less of a grumpy person then in Fellowship
Gandalf is also slightly more powerful, using more magic then in the movies
Gandalf knows both Faramir and Erymir before The Council of Elrond, also vaguely knowing Boromir
Gandalf tries to get Aragorn to accept his destiny earlier
Like all wizards, Gandalf uses They/Them pronouns
Gimli son of Gloin
Tumblr media
Gimli is a little less goofy then in the films but still a lighter hearted character
Gimli is also able to keep up with Aragorn, Legolas and Faramir on their cross country journey
Gimli helps defend the caves at Helm's Deep
Gimli trains the hobbits in using their small size to their advantage
Gimli journeys to The Grey Havens with Legolas after Aragorn dies
Legolas son of Thranduil
Tumblr media
Legolas is less of a dull character
Legolas is he/they and AFAB
He's witty and snarky, sometimes making joking comments to his friends
He also interacts with the hobbits more
Legolas also isn't afraid to use his blades
Legolas has less of an aversion to dwarves after fighting with them in The Hobbit
Boromir eldest son of Denethor
Tumblr media
Boromir remains mostly the same
However he now has no problem standing up to his father
Boromir hates his father's attiture towards his siblings
He is also highly protective but also very proud of his siblings
Boromir trains the hobbits in sword combat, having a good friendship with them all
Boromir does still try to take the ring but not to bring it to Gondor in this AU
Faramir younger son of Denethor
Tumblr media
Faramir is more confident in himself, both due to Boromir's open love, defense and support of him and due to Erymir's (my OC's) support of him
Faramir also helps teach the hobbits sword combat
Faramir journeys with Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas to find Merry and Pippin
Faramir takes Boromir's vambraces and not Aragorn
Faramir also takes Boromir's gloves
baby daddy | kaeya [2]
Tumblr media
A/n: so already, in the first five minutes of me beginning to write tumblr decided to delete stuff again, so that’s pretty swag ;-; but nonetheless, I’m alright lmao, I’ve been super happy this week ever since I pulled xiao AND mona after wanting to give up plsss. also, I can’t exactly remember if I gave Klara a age in the last part, so I would just like to clarify that she’s one lol. anyways, here’s part two and I hope you guys enjoy!! it took me four hours to write this
Summary: kaeya wants to set a good example for his children, naturally. so he’s given up a lot of things, one being his excessive drinking. but being a knight is hard, despite how nonchalant he seems and he finds himself slipping sometimes… when you find out about it, you’re less than happy and decide spending time with the children would be a good idea for him. he’s more than happy to spend time with the three little monsters, but, he never realized what a normal day was for you when taking care of them.
Parings: Kaeya/Fem! Reader
Warnings: children, fluff, reader and kaeya are mid 20s, alcohol, Klara and Katheryne are friends because I said so, stan Katheryne she helps us so much-
Word count: 2.3k
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sun was slowly but surely rising, leaving beautiful orange and yellow hues to paint the usually bright blue sky, and Kaeya couldn’t be happier. Unlike the last couple of days, he’d been able to wake up, eat a quiet breakfast with you before the kids woke up though he tried and successfully tried to flirt his way into your already claimed heart, and then when Klara woke up, he got the chance to contently feed the wailing little girl; something he shockingly missed.
Even if at that moment, the tears and cries were a lot more than he could handle, he was more than happy to do something too trivial, just because he was spending more time with her. And unlike the other days, he’d been able to take her for her morning walk, before he’d have to report to headquarters.
Most citizens were still asleep, though very few could be seen preparing for the days work, a few stall owners he noted, as he held Klara’s tiny chubby hand and helped her walk through the town, though she greatly seemed to like speed, already worlds ahead with her mobility.
“Slow down, my little Mist Flower.” She was moving as fast as her little legs could take her, straight towards Katheryne who sometimes gave the little girl trinkets, saying adventurers had brought back things they didn’t wish to keep or had no use for. Even if Klara couldn’t really speak, she knew little things, “Thank you” was one of them, so she was always grateful despite not knowing exactly what they were. And although Katheryne seemed to not be human, some sort of machine with a very robot-like tone, she also made sure to let little Klara know how happy she was to give the youngest Alberich little trinkets.
“Good morning, Katheryne.” Kaeya called, grinning when his daughter’s eyes widened at the mention of the kind receptionist. As the pair approached the young woman, Klara yanked on her father's white cloak, instructing him to lift her into his arms, so she could get a better look, and Katheryne, usually behind the tall wooden counter.
“Oh- good morning, Captain Kaeya!” The woman exclaimed, eyes lighting up when she saw the little girl she adored very much. “And little Klara, good morning.” She was happy to see the pair well, seeing as though she hadn’t seen Klara in days.
“Hi, Kat...” Klara whispered with a shy smile, Katheryne smiled even more because of the use of the nickname she’d been given.
She was just the most adorable little girl ever, Katheryne couldn’t help but think.
All three Alberich children were the sweetest, though obviously, Klara had a sweet place in her heart especially. Adrien was an identical copy of you, sarcastic, very stubborn, but very respectable for such a young age. And Elena was a smart cookie, a young girl who enjoyed questioning and correct everyone and everything that she came across. Lastly, little Klara, who had much growing to do was the pride and joy of the large Alberich family. Everyone adored her and she continuously swayed hearts wherever she went, just her cute curiosity alone was enough to bring a smile to even Wagner’s face, who typically seemed grumpy.
Katheryne felt very lucky to have met them in this lifetime, they were a gift from the Archons, truly. Everyone knew Katheryne as the Adventurer Guild's Receptionist but to Klara? She was Kat, a generous friend who gave her gifts.
Though a sad frown graced the young woman's lips, Kaeya ever so observantly caught on, something was wrong.
“I’m very saddened to say this, but I’m afraid there aren’t any new trinkets suitable enough for little Klara today...” Yes indeed was the receptionist saddened, evident by every feature on her face. “There’s been a shortage it seems of adventurers and travelers willing to take the commissions.” The brunette stated.
“Why is this?” The Cavalry Captain questioned, silently huffing when the one-year-old attached to his hip kept chewing on his white fur cloak, closest to his neck. Great, another issue added to the mix. Maybe she had begun teething again? Archons, Kaeya really felt as though he’d missed so much, seeing as though he couldn’t remember the last time his youngest daughter had teethed or even if she'd stopped entirely together. In short, he probably hadn’t been there for that either, courtesy of his position and job.
“From my understanding, there have been more hoards of monsters, and something about a mutation as well,” Noted Katheryne, watching as the curiosity built upon the man's features. “Would you like to take a few of the commissions? To show Acting Grand Master Jean?”
The part bout there being an abundance of monsters did sound familiar, he’d been hearing about that a lot recently, but mutated forms as well? That was new... He’d have to bring that up today at the briefing, maybe Jean would know more than he currently did.
“None of that will be necessary. I’m heading there now, after I drop Klara off back home, I’ll just forward the information to her personally.” Katheryne nodded, seemingly getting sidetracked and entranced by the bright violet-eyed toddler staring at her, with her father's white fur cloak still in her mouth.
Adorable.
She still couldn’t help but feel bad though. The only trinkets that had been brought back from any scarce, but recent missions were partially damaged swords waiting for Wagner to fix or scrap into new materials.
Such a thing did not belong in the hands of a child, nonetheless the ever so gentle Klara Alberich, she was too sweet for this world to be handed a complimentary sword, even if she had heard Kaeya say the countless amount of times that he wanted to eventually teach each of the children how to use a sword, preferring to start earlier, rather than later. And from Katheryne’s overheard? She now knew it had been somewhat of a topic of discussion between you and Kaeya, causing mini spouts of anger and frustration.
Archons, how she wishes she had something suitable to give the little girl...
Katheryne nervously fidgeted. “Oh and about the trinkets-”
The usual daily gifts Kaetheryne would give to Klara, were absent today. Due to one big factor; adventurers and travelers weren’t taking commissions, therefore, they weren’t bringing back what Katheryne saw as unique finds, but they claimed to have no use for.
“No worries,” He was more worried about the fact that adventurers weren’t taking commissions instead of the usual trinkets Katheryne would give his daughter, nonetheless he offered reassurance. It really was no big deal.
Kaeya indeed was something else entirely, Katheryne concluded. A mind reader, some sort of witch- just different. How had he known without her even saying anything?
She was stunned for quite some time, though still feeling guilty despite his supposed reassurance. The guilt partially stemmed from the fact that Klara was staring so intently at her, with big blue-purple-hued eyes, unknowingly being one of the main stressors of Katheryne’s guilt...
“Klara has too many nicknacks anyways,” You and Kaeya were sure she’d be some kind of trinket collector when she was older, seeing as though she had so many already. “Y/n says you spoil her.” Kaeya’s statement almost sounded like he was scolding her, but if not for the grin and chuckle he offered that immediately followed, she wouldn’t have known he was being entirely playful.
“That is not my intention. She’s just so adorable, I cannot stop myself,” Kaeya laughed, glancing down at the toddler. She was adorable, his little Mist Flower.
“If it bother you or Miss Y/n, I’ll-”
“It’s quite alright, Katheryne, no need to worry,” Kaeya announced smoothly, dramatically waving his hand to show he was dismissing her statements of protest and concern.
“Alright...”
Eventually, Kaeya did take his leave, much to Katheryne’s dismay. She’d probably see Klara tomorrow, if he stayed true to his schedule, so she remained hopeful and excited for tomorrow.
Before he knew it, Kaeya was bringing Klara home, giving you and Elena - who was now awake - hugs and kisses, telling you both to let Adrien know he loved him and that he’d return soon - he was still asleep. And then just like that Kaeya was out the door again and off to headquarters.
-
No one expected him to be at the Cat’s Tail this late at night, but it wasn’t entirely unexpected nor rare by any means, he was a familiar face after all.
It was unexpected because Kaeya claimed he had given up the incessant and excessive drinking years ago when his firstborn, Adrien graced Teyvat. Sadly, it was expected, because it seemed he’d been in here more in the last week than in the last few years... Though, patrons who often visited the tavern were all betting on the fact that you were entirely clueless to how much he’d been drinking; they were right. You were too busy taking care of the children and training to hopefully join the Knights again, to even keep up with your husband's drinking habits. So, it went unnoticed.
Diluc though, who was often at the tavern, noticed it unlike you. Kaeya had been a great pretender, a great spy; good at keeping secrets, but when he had secrets, somehow Diluc always found himself finding out first, if not second, closely behind you. And unfortunately - Diluc thought - he was on the more personal spectrum concerning the certain Knight... He was his brother, your brother in law, an uncle... He disliked what Kaeya was doing, greatly. Especially since it felt as though his idiotic brother was going behind his family's back. No, he hadn’t promised to quit entirely, but he’d made it seem that way to you. Probably a fabrication so you wouldn’t worry...
Diluc should’ve known he'd find himself back here again, trying to get his once again, idiotic brother, to leave and go home. The pyro user couldn’t understand. His brother had everything he didn’t. A beautifully devoted wife, three amazingly easy children, a status many simple Knights and Guards would kill for; Captain. And he’d rather risk it all for a drink or two, maybe three.
You thought nothing of it. Kaeya was out late a lot, more often than not patrol and paperwork held him from returning home, but on the rare occasions that he had a sliver of free time that wasn’t spent with you and the kids, he was drinking.
You always knew when he wouldn’t be returning, in the form of a letter from Kaeya, stating he was alright but would be staying to do paperwork, etc. It would be brought by one of his underlings, Knights or Guards in training. But when that letter never came, you panicked.
Was he alright? He never forgot to write... Maybe he was held up?
Thankfully, Lisa had decided to come over for tea earlier and had still been here trying her best to reassure you, after seeing how worried you’d been after not receiving any letter.
“You should probably return home, I’ll be alright.” You kept reassuring the librarian, though she wasn’t falling for it. She could practically feel the stress and anxiety oozing off of you, it was concerning.
You could only be thankful Amber had been busy and couldn’t come over for tea or else she would’ve ripped Kaeya a new one when she got ahold of him. He’d never be able to leave for missions again, without getting a reminder from Amber to reach out or else...
“Darling, I’m not leaving until he returns.” She took your hands in hers, hoping to offer you comfort. Lisa had always been there for you, which you were very thankful
She had no prior experience with children, though she was incredible with your own. You figured because she was one of the older members of the Knights of Favonius, she had taken more of a big sister role and the youngers looked up to her wisdom. Though she wasn’t much older than you, only by five or six years, so she was really like an older sister towards you as well. Lisa was a very kind woman, you appreciated her tons.
“Maybe I should go find him? I could ask around...”
“Please don’t stress, Y/n,” Lisa said. “You’re too beautiful to stress. I trust that he’ll be here soon.”
Lisa was in fact right. Kaeya returned soon after she had said he would. Master Diluc knocked on the door close to midnight, hanging off his arm was your drunk husband. When you saw him slumped on his brother's shoulder, you immediately assumed the worst. Maybe he’d been physically harmed. You were under the impression he had stopped drinking.
But then, when you allowed Diluc to step further into the house, you got a huge waft of what you quickly recognized as alcohol. Surprisingly enough for Diluc, you didn’t yell, instead, you just stared at Kaeya with disappointment, gravitating towards him to try and take him from his brother's arms.
“Thank you Diluc, I’m sorry you had to deal with this so late.”
The Ragnivndr wanted to scold his brother, for making a fool of himself and you, leaving you worried and disappointed. But, using better judgment, Diluc just nodded and offered an understanding and apology, on behalf of his out of it brother.
“It’s quite alright, I-”
“I’m sorry he had to come home this way,” Diluc stated, glaring at the taller man.
You hummed, helping Kaeya stumble into your living room, both Lisa and Diluc watching with worried gazes from the door. “Don’t worry, I’m just glad he’s safe.”
Diluc once again, realized his idiotic brother did not deserve you or your kindness and understanding. He was one lucky man, that was for sure.
“How do you know that you won’t fall out of love with me?”
Warnings: N/A
Pairing: Draco Malfoy x Reader
Words: 2.5k
Summary: Your love language is Words of Affirmation
(This is a continuation from my series “Love Languages”)
Tumblr media
Growing up in Malfoy Manor was less than loving. Although the Malfoy’s had the extremely upheld ideal of family, loyalty, and honor, Draco’s upbringing was not so much about comfort and love but the constant pressures of being perfect. Perfect. Always perfect. From his young ages, he was expected to always be pristine, polite and most of all: quiet. A young Draco spent a lot of time outdoors, trying to hide from the pressures of his family, climbing trees, and touching the breeze, enjoying the small moments of being alone. He basked in the safety of being outside in the open until one day when he accidentally got dirt on his trousers. That afternoon, his father berated him, yelling and harshly reprimanding him. How dare he decide to dirty himself, to look less than ideal. As his father scolded him, his mother stood in the background, arms crossed to hold herself. By the end of Draco’s familial slaughter, his father decided Draco needed something more than verbal punishment. That was the first time Draco had been hit by his father. He could still feel the sting, even as a teenager, and the bruises from his father’s hand, gripping his wrist tightly, seemed to stay forever. From then on, Draco suffered, molding himself, hurting himself to become the Malfoy definition of “perfect.”
When Draco fell in love with you, part of him was ecstatic. He had you. The kindest and flawless human there ever was. He was merely enchanted with your sweet nature. He would question, every morning, how such an amazing creature, like yourself, could be any type of enamored with him. But part of him was terrified. More than terrified. There was a deep seeded insecurity that lied within his chest. You, the light in the dark, was his one happiness, his one source of love. Draco Malfoy knew he wasn’t good enough, not for someone like you. He could not handle the idea of you seeing him as anything less than perfect. The moment you whispered those three words, the words that would make him swoon, he vowed to be the perfect boyfriend. He vowed to become the man you absolutely deserved.
Draco’s insecurities, his faults and fears did not need to be said out loud. You knew of his childhood and had heard through the grapevine of the Malfoy’s ferocity and less than ideal traits. Even before you met him, you knew Draco Malfoy was deserving of love. Most students in Hogwarts, besides the ones in the Slytherin House, seemed to despise Malfoy for his bullying and constant insults. However, you saw him as who he was, a boy who has been nothing but hurt.
Therefore, it was your own duty to compliment every aspect of him. Your words of love were endless and you loved to see the way Draco’s neck blushed while he attempted to keep himself cool. You loved to surprise him by finding different ways and different things to compliment him on. While Draco would roll his eyes or scoff, you knew he thrived off of it. Other times, you’d comment on his nice penmanship or his ability to cast difficult spells. It came naturally to you as you were raised in the most loving, passionate and encouraging family. You wanted nothing more than to spread that compassion to your boyfriend.
If Draco was honest with himself, he couldn’t help but stand, anxiously, on his toes. He was constantly worried about disappointing you, hurting you, being anything less than perfect. Insecurities in the shape of heart murmurs kept him up at night. There was an ache, a hurt, a fear that nearly rendered Draco breathless.You were, by far, the most radiant person Draco knew. Equal parts funny and sweet, sarcastic and kind. And, much to Draco’s exasperation, many of the other boys at Hogwarts knew this as well. And, to make his insecurities and self doubt even worse, you were Draco’s first relationship. Draco was not yours. Many boys, since first year, had fancied you and you had even dated a few. This was always a sore spot for your boyfriend who seemed to be jealous of any past relationships you had. The jealousy and insecurities made Draco more fearful, worried even, that you’d slip away.
You sat in the empty classroom Draco had found for the two of you. While other couples took to the Common Rooms, corridors, courtyards, and even sometimes the Great Hall to inflict PDA, Draco preferred utter privacy. He felt that wherever he went, people gawked. Instead, he much preferred being alone with you. He wasn’t sure if it was because in private rooms he could kiss you whenever he wanted or if it was because when you were alone he did not have to worry about other blokes staring at you.
The afternoon sun streamed through the class windows, casting streaks of light onto the table in front of you. You were perched on the wooden bench, sitting on your crossed legs, a book held leisurely in your hand. Draco sat next to you, leaned over his Alchemy essay on antidotes and blended potions. Though the essay was difficult, Draco felt relaxed, resting his hand on your bare thigh and rubbing shapes on the skin. He listened to your steady breathing and the crinkling of the paper as you turned the pages.
He only turned to look at you when you let out a long sigh and snapped the book shut.“Good book?” Draco asked, looking at you from the corner of your eye.
“Oh yes, I think it has to be one of my favorites.”
“Is that why you look so grumpy?” he leaned to dip his quill in more ink, his hand never leaving your thigh.
You laughed and shook your head, “No no, I’m not grumpy. But, there is so much drama in it and it renders me rather exhausted sometimes.”
Draco hummed, “How does a silly little thing like you become tired from books?”
“If you knew me,” you ticked your tongue, “you’d know I become tired from nearly everything.”
Draco let out a chuckle and put down his quill. “I do know you, well enough to know you become grumpy when tired.”
You opened your mouth to protest but paused to realize that your boyfriend was annoyingly correct. “Damn you,” you huffed and leaned back before picking up your book again.
“Exactly.” Draco’s smile was small but still prominent. It was silent again as you began flipping through the pages once more, easily letting yourself fall into the plot and dramatics of the story.
“Love,” Draco shook your leg lightly, “Do you have any extra parchment paper?”
You raised your hand to shoo him away, “In my bag, help yourself and let me read, I think they are finally about to kiss.” Draco shook his head, clearly amused.
Entranced in your book, you didn’t notice Draco’s hands shaking. A piece of parchment held tightly in his fingers.
“What is this?” Draco’s voice was strained.
Peeking up from your book, your eyes moved from Draco’s hand to his distraught and angered face. “It’s,” you stuttered and quickly sat up. “Draco,”
“What. Is. It. Y/N.” Now, Draco was standing. Eyes skimming through the words over and over again.
“Honey,” you swallowed. “It’s really nothing.”
“It doesn’t look like nothing, Y/N.” Draco said, his voice a painful mixture of hurt and outrage.
“Truly, it really is nothing. I was going to tell you about it-”
“But you didn’t.” Draco seemed to snap.
“But I forgot.” You shook your head.
You knew exactly why Draco was upset. By your parchment, crumpled up in the corner of your book bag, was an old love letter.
Before, as you were walking to Care of Magical Creatures, an old boyfriend, William Franklin, of yours had stopped you. Your fourth year boyfriend greeted you with a smile and you smiled back as your break up was neither malicious nor horrid. The two of you had split up merely because you fell out of love and decided to remain friends instead. William was exactly that, just a friend. And when he approached you, he teased you, handing you the old love letter you had written him in fourth year. It was a pathetic letter, one a lovesick little school girl would have written, but it was enough for Draco.
William and you laughed it off, you called him a “Nasty bastard,”
And he returned the insult as well as whistling and said “Malfoy’s got his hands full, poor bloke.”
However, Draco did not see this as two friends reminiscing on cringey memories, he saw it as the girl he loved, effortlessly, proclaiming her love for someone who wasn’t him.
“Darling,” you sighed, standing and brushing off your skirt, “Please, don’t be upset.”
“Don’t be upset?” Draco asked incredulously.
“Yes.”
You moved slowly around the table, knowing Draco needs both space and company when the two of you fight. Everyone in the world knows, couples fight. All healthy couples, all loving relationships are not without some mode of arguments, bickering or debates. However, you wouldn’t really call your arguments with Draco even arguments but rather heavily emotional conversations. It took a while to understand Draco’s argument style, sometimes he was harsh and critical, others he was quiet and sarcastic. But you knew Draco’s defensiveness stemmed from the demons of fear and self-doubt.
“This is ridiculous, what the fuck is this, Y/N?” Draco shouted. The veins in his neck began to bulge and you could see his eyes narrow, his heart pumping. You didn’t flinch.
“Let me explain, yeah?” your voice steady. Your arm raised slowly to take the letter from him, but Draco pulled back harshly. “It is an old love letter.”
“I can see that it is a love letter.”
“No,” you shook your head again, “It is an old love letter. Old.”
“And yet you still have it?”
“Yes-”
“So you’re off just dreaming about some other fucking wanker then? You keep this to remember your old better boyfriends?”
You took a deep breath, “No. I don’t. William-”
“Don’t say his bloody name.” Draco groaned. You stopped to hold in laughter, although it seemed rather insensitive, you couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity.
“Draco,” you clenched your jaw to stop yourself from laughing, “he gave me it during class. I had wrote it back in fourth year. Darling, have you read it? It’s mortifying, not romantic.”
“But-”
“But nothing. There is nothing to it. No secrets, no affair, no sneaking around. Nothing. Just two old, old, old friends laughing about something extremely embarrassing.”
As you said that, you slipped in the small space between the table and him. You gingerly took the parchment out of his hands and placed it on the table. Draco watched as you put your hand on his chest and another on the side of his abdomen and sighed.
“Really?”
“Really.” you confirmed. “I am, solely, without a single doubt, yours.”
“Are you sure?” Draco’s voice was timid, quiet.
“Draco,” you looked up at him. His pale eyes looked into yours, no longer narrowed or angry but looked almost in defeat.
“You are my one and my only. No one else has made me laugh like you do or made me feel loved like you do. You are, and I say this with nothing but honesty, the love of my life. Nothing will change that.” You stood there for a while in silence, feeling the slowing heart beat of your boyfriend.
“I’m sorry.” Draco whispered, eyes closed.
“Don’t be,” you smiled, pressing a kiss to his cheek. “If I were to find an old love letter from one of your ex-girlfriends, I’m sure I’d go mad.”
“May I ask you something?” Draco mumbled, he leaned forward so his chin was on the crown of your head.
“Anything.”
“Do... do you... does it bother you that I haven’t had any girlfriends before you?”
“No,” you replied, “Does it bother you that I’ve had boyfriends before you?”
Draco stayed silent as his response. You bit your lip and shuffled closer to Draco, not wanting to upset him more.
“My love, look at me,” you said quietly. “There is no one else but you. All the past boyfriends were... childish crushes, nothing more, nothing less.”
“Then why did you and William break up?”
“William and I fell out of love, simple as that.”
Anxiety. Draco felt anxiety. He attempted to push it down, to swallow it, but he couldn’t. He couldn’t decide whether to leave or to stay and bask in his insecurities.
“Then,” Draco’s eyes flickered to yours, “How do you know that you won’t fall out of love with me?”
You were taken aback by his bluntness. Nearly speechless and fighting to find words.
“What?”
“You wrote him a love letter-”
“It was when I was fourteen!”
“If you were that in love with him, who's to say you won’t wake up and realize that you-”
“Stop.” you said firmly. “Draco, why are you doing this?”
Your eyes looked into his, searching for anything, hoping to find the answer in the grey of his eyes. The helpless look he omitted hurt. Your body ached in sync with his. What were the words you could say? What could help him? Aid him? What simple words, complex words could you speak that would ensure Draco of your love and affections.
Your hand shifted to softly hold his. With a kiss on each of the knuckles, you answered, “On my last dying breath, on every child we have and every memory we will experience, I will love you. I am,” you paused, “So lucky to have you. So utterly happy and content. My silly boy.”
“Y/N...”
“And, I am so, so proud of you.”
“You don’t have to say that if you don’t mean it,”
You rolled your eyes jokingly, “Must you always argue with me?”
“Still-”
“Of course I am proud of you. If I could shout it from the Astronomy Tower, I would in a heartbeat.”
Draco laughed along with you. The idea of your small body chanting and screaming to the wind that you were proud of him made him feel both embarrassed and loved.
“I would write you a thousand, a million, a billion soppy love letters. I will gladly tell you everyday how in love I am with you. If not for you, for myself.” you finished and pressed a kiss to the corner of his lips, “I find it quite amusing to see you flush when I compliment you.” “
Are you-”
“Please do not ask me if I am sure,” you laughed, “I am most sure.”
“Real-”
You interrupted Draco’s question, silencing his insecurities and pressing a long kiss to his lips. His lips were wet and nervous between yours, but he felt the way you pushed and pulled, the way your fingers gripped his shirt tightly, the way your smile imprinted onto his. He simply could not describe it. He could search every dictionary and learn every language, but he would not be able to find any definition that could explain your love.
The only thing that could even come close to describing how you made him feel is the feeling he got when he was young, high in a tree, and touching the comforting breeze.
It Was You (Part One)
A/N: Jensen and Y/n are childhood best friends. When his agent informs him that his image could use some improvement for a role, will she help him? Or will her feelings get in the way?
A holiday (Christmas centric) Jensen x Female!Reader Best Friends to Lovers series for @spnchristmasbingo. Un-beta’d, so all mistakes are mine. Header created by me with images from Google. Chapter word count: 3371
Series Warnings: break up; angst-ish at times (if you squint), but mostly all the fluff.
I consider this an AU, as Jensen is single in this fic. This is completely a work of fiction, and I wouldn’t want his reality to be any different, this is purely for entertainment.
Tumblr media
The slight chill of a Vancouver December morning roused you from a peaceful sleep, making you snuggle further into the down blanket and comfort of your plush bedding. It was two weeks until Christmas and the weather was supposed to be a balmy high of 32 degrees today, so you had planned to stay in, do some shopping online, and stay by your cozy fireplace with every holiday movie you could find. Willing yourself to get five more minutes of shut eye seemed like a helpless feat as the wintry cold seeped into your apartment. You opened your eyes to the gentle prisms of light floating in through the adjacent window, the sunrise indicating it was time to get up for the day.
Sitting up to perch on the side of your bed and grabbing your wide-rimmed glasses from the nightstand, you slid your chilled toes into the warm slippers waiting and shrugged on your fuzziest sweater. It may be time for that fire sooner than you thought.
Padding into your kitchen to get a much-needed caffeine fix after last night’s dinner and drinks with the rest of the cast and crew, you took your favorite mug from the cabinet and loaded the coffee maker, making an extra cup or two for you and any visitors you might have a bit later.
Jensen’s apartment was down the hall, and if you knew him, he’d still be sleeping, but he’d probably wander over at some point this morning. Cradling the mug in your hands warmed them slightly and sent a shiver down your spine. Even your warmest pajamas and the heat from the thermostat did little against the Canadian winds. Laughing slightly to yourself, you’d thought you’d be used to it after six years of winters here.
You wandered towards the windows of your living room to pull back the long curtains. It was a favorite spot to have your coffee and gaze at the sights of Vancouver. Settling on the window seat, you felt a warmth spread through you as you noticed it had snowed in the night, and from the looks of it, it was a depth of fresh, soft powder – a type that you rarely saw growing up in Texas. People were bundled up tightly as they walked the streets, but a few people, adults and kids alike, were already out playing in the thick blanket of snow.
As your coffee began to warm you through, you couldn’t help the giddy feeling of joy that rose at the sight – it made the holiday season and the spirit of it even more intense than just viewing the lights of downtown and the large decorations everywhere. For some reason, snow just sealed it all up in a nice little bow.
Sure enough, about halfway into your second cup of coffee, you heard a key in your door and Jensen shuffled in, still wearing his pj’s with tousled hair, but he had thrown on a thick sweater too.
“Good morning.” You called, still seated at the large window.
“Mornin’ sweetheart.” He replied with a quick wave as he tossed his keys on the counter and waltzed into your kitchen in search of his mug, his voice still thick and gruff with sleep.
He mixed his cream and sugar and took a long sip, letting out a contented sigh after the steaming liquid entered his body. He was notoriously grumpy without his coffee, but he always met you with a sweet greeting when he came over. Walking around your kitchen island and into your open living room, he slumped into the recliner across from you and pulled the leaver to release the footing, allowing him to lean back with his feet up. He adjusted himself to get comfortable, careful to not spill the mug in his hand.
“What time did you get in last night?” you asked, taking another sip from your own cup.
He covered his eyes with his free hand, still obviously tired. “About 2:30. You know how Jared gets when we break for hiatus, he never wants the party to end. He was still talking to me as I was shutting my door.”
You couldn’t help but laugh. Jared was the most social person you’d ever met and knowing that he wouldn’t be back to Canada and on set for a month, he would always soak up every little bit of time he had with the cast and crew. Even though Jensen was griping about it now, you knew he also didn’t mind. He’d probably be missing everyone, especially Jared, about four days into the break. You didn’t get home until about 1 a.m., and that was only because you were beginning to doze off in your cocktail.
“Tell Cliff thanks again for driving me home last night. I just couldn’t cut it.”
“Yeah, I know… Lightweight.” Jensen teased.
“Hey, you didn’t have a 5 a.m. set call yesterday like some of us.”
Jensen huffed a small laugh from his seat, still resting his hand across his closed eyes. His sweatpants hung low on his hips and his green Henley stretched across his biceps as he rested his coffee on his thigh. A slight 5 o’clock shadow and the bedhead he was sporting all combined into a handsome image. He may be your best friend, but you could still appreciate the looks the man was blessed with.
Seemingly close to falling back asleep, you called to him in a hushed voice, “Jay. If you want to go back to sleep just put your coffee mug on the table, okay?”
“Hmmmph. No, I’m up.” He fibbed, as evident from the way he blinked widely once he opened his eyes again. Forcing himself to stand, otherwise he would really fall back asleep instead of just resting his eyes, he walked towards you with his cup, dragging his feet slightly as his legs sluggishly pulled him across the room. His head was down and his shoulders were wilted, but he was trying to get his body moving.
When he reached you, you felt his chest bump your shoulder before he rested his cheek on the crown of your head, his arm dangling by his side as he slumped. He took a deep breath before rubbing his hand across your back and standing, smiling as you peered up at him with a grin.
Licking his lips, he finally peered out to the streets below and his eyes went wide, “Y/n!” he practically shouted.
You flinched, “What? What’d I do?”
“You didn’t tell me it snowed!”
Giving a huff and a giggle, you couldn’t help but be sarcastic, “I’m sorry, was I supposed to while you were falling asleep in my chair?! Besides… it’s Canada. It’s not like snow is very rare here.”
“Y/n! That’s, like, snow! The kind we used to wish for when we were kids!”
“I know, I thought that too.”
“Well, c’mon!” he said, setting his cup down on the ledge. “We gotta go!”
“What? Go where?”
Jensen was already halfway through your living room and heading for the front door but paused to turn and point a finger in your direction, “You, me, snowman. Now.”
“Jay,” You whined. “It’s cold and its early. You sure you don’t want to just watch Netflix?”
“Y/n!” he said once again, looking as excited as a 12-year-old on a snow day from school. “Snowman! Please?” he begged, waving his arms frantically as he gestured outside.
“Okay, okay. Fine. No need to use your puppy eyes on me. I’ll meet you outside in 15 minutes.”
With that, a huge grin broke out on his face and he took off down the hall, leaving you to go in search of your heaviest ski jacket.
Jensen knocked on your door soon after you shrugged into the puffy coat, dressed in thick snow pants, his own jacket, and a black beanie and gloves with a small bag in his hand. Straitening your scarf before locking your door, he barely gave you a moment to put on your knitted pom beanie before he was pulling you by your hand towards the elevator of your building and pushing you out of the revolving doors into the frigid air. Heading to the side where a large park sat adjacent to your complex, he looked around before tugging you along to a spot with a large open space. He nodded to himself, as if to say he’d found the perfect place for his snowman-building escapade. As your boots crunched beneath you, you each began gathering handfuls of snow to make a large base, then packed and sculpted two more spheres. Though you initially protested, you had to admit that it was fun, and the coldness against your cheeks wasn’t bad after a bit, particularly after seeing how happy Jensen was when his finished product towered over yours. He’d managed to gather the majority of the snow within about a six-foot radius of where his snowman stood before piling it high.
“Hey, hey… look at that. An accurate height difference!” He touted, teasing you.
“Oh, hush you. It’s not my fault that you were given the extended version of the human body.” You glared at him playfully.
He laughed as he bent to rummage in the bag he’d brought, producing two carrots. He wiggled them in his hands before handing one to you. He was just about to place it in a very telling place when you grabbed a handful of snow and threw it in his direction.
“Jensen!” You berated. “That’s not where the carrot goes! There’s kids out here!”
He stood up slowly, turning to you with a serious smirk, “Did you seriously just throw a snowball at me?”
Wiping your hand on your pantleg quickly, you gave him a mischievous grin, “Who, me? I’d never.”
“Oh, its on!” he declared as he bent to scoop up the little bit of remaining snow in his reach, that which he hadn’t used for his snowman.
Ducking behind your own, he threw and missed, sending the snow flying passed you. A quick grab from around you produced another snowball that you chucked from behind your shield, hitting him square in the chest. The fight lasted for a good while, the two of you trying your hardest to target the other as many times as possible and receiving some laughs and glances from passersby as they walked along the sidewalk. Finally, Jensen gave up and took off towards you, chasing you in circles before he tackled you into the plush ice, pinning you beneath him as he tried to bury you both.
“Jay! Oh my God, stop! Its freezing!” you yelled through your laughter.
“Truce?” he asked, his eyebrows raised in a challenge.
He was still on top of you, his nose and cheeks a bit flushed from the wintry air. He still had that devilish smirk on his face, but his green eyes were soft and something beneath them made your heart flutter slightly in your chest. He scanned your face quickly before glancing towards your lips, but you were quick to snatch another fistful of snow to smash onto his head. Scrambling out from underneath him, you ran as he said something about you being a cheater before he jumped to his feet.
After the war ended and a truce was finally declared, you both put the finishing touches on your snowmen after you found sticks for the arms and coerced Jensen to put the carrot in the right spot. He stood back proudly, admiring your handiwork.
“Hey.” He gestured to you, “C’mere.”
A bit warry that he was going to tackle you again, you came to his side as he pulled his phone out of his jacket pocket and turned on the camera. Pulling you into him, he said, “Gotta have evidence of our masterpieces.” He reached around your waist and tugged you in close, framing both of you and your snowmen in the background. The cold air made the tip of your nose and the apples of your cheeks change in color, and there was still some snow in your hair from when Jensen wrestled you, but both of you smiled widely. Feeling the scruff of his short beard against your temple and his arms wrapped around you made you think about the way his eyes danced across your face moments ago, but the thought was quickly dismissed as he stepped away from you slightly after he made sure the picture wasn’t too blurry.
“Oh, crap. Is that what time it is?” he said, alarmed, looking at his phone screen. “I have to meet Stacy in an hour.”
Stacy was his publicist and agent, but he usually didn’t meet with her during the hiatus. “You’re meeting Stacy today? What’s up?” you asked, a bit confused.
“She wants to talk to me about this movie. Some sort of romantic drama she thought I may be good for.”
“Oh,” you replied, “that’s great! You didn’t tell me! Would you have to cut back filming the show?” While you were a bit surprised, you were genuinely happy for him.
“Stacy knows Supernatural comes first, so I hope not.”
“Well, let’s get inside so you can warm up and change. I was going to make my mom’s chili and cornbread for dinner tonight, if you want to join me after your meeting.”
The excitement on his face was palpable as his eyes lit up the moment you said it, “You know how much I love your mom’s chili. We’re just meeting for coffee near her office, so I’ll bring the beer.”
As you were walking back into the building, your phone rang. It was Stephen, your boyfriend of three months.
“Stephen, hey.” You said as you entered the elevator, not missing the slight eyeroll that Jensen gave.
“Hey, honey. How are you? I didn’t want to call too early, just in case you were still sleeping after last night.”
“I’m good, thanks. Actually, just got done building a snowman with Jensen.”
A short silence followed, until Stephen spoke up again. “Oh, that’s nice.” He said, his voice noticeably clipped. “Well, I’m going to take my lunch break soon. Would you like to meet up? I can come to your side of town.”
“Uh, sure. I’ll meet you at that café on 3rd in about a half an hour?”
“Sounds great. See you there.”
Shoving your phone back in your pocket, you ignore Jensen’s stare as the elevator climbed to your floor.
“So…” he pressed. “Stephen?”
“Yeah, Stephen. We’re going to meet up for lunch while you have your meeting.”
“Hmph.” He huffed.
“Jay, we’ve known each other our whole lives and to this day you’ve never liked a single guy I’ve ever dated. What’s wrong with Stephen?”
“I don’t know. He’s just kind of… meh.”
He wasn’t lying, if you were being truthful. Stephen was meh. He was cute and had nice eyes and dimples, but he didn’t make you laugh. He was a bit dull and your sense of humor didn’t mesh with his well. Still, you thought that it might get a bit better once you got to know each other and began to understand one another more. Your relationship was still very casual, but maybe it could go further? You weren’t really sure, honestly.
“What about you and Laura?” you asked, quickly changing the subject.
“I told you… that was nothing.” He quipped as you reached your door. “We went on like three dates.”
“Yeah, the last one being just this past week.”
“Yeah, and it just didn’t go well.”
You let out a small sigh. Discussing your dating lives wasn’t really something the two of you loved to do with each other. Maybe when you were teenagers, yeah. You’d asked each other for advice and gossiped a bit about the people in your high school, but as you grew into adults it just became a subject you both steered away from besides the occasional, hey I’ve got a date conversation. Neither of you had ever really found a person that the other approved of, each finding a reason to be picky every time.
“I’m sorry, Jay. I’m just deflecting.”
“It’s okay, sweetheart. I was pushing.” He said sincerely with a small smile. “Well, you enjoy lunch. My meeting’s at 1:30 across town, so I should be back by 4 at the latest. Pick out a movie for us, okay?”
“Sounds great. I will.” With that, he kissed you quickly on the side of your head and went into his apartment as you ducked into yours. You freshened up quickly and changed, grabbing a different peacoat, hat, and scarf as your others were still wet.
It was a short walk to the café, and they had good sandwiches. You were surprisingly hungry, so you were glad to see Stephen waiting outside for you. He gripped your hand tightly and gave you a quick kiss in greeting before leading you into the restaurant. You were seated and ordered quickly, knowing that he would have to return to work soon.
“So, how has your day been?” You asked as you shrugged off your coat, hanging it on the chair behind you.
“It’s been… good.” He muttered.
“Uh oh,” You said, getting his attention as he looked away from you. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, really. I was just surprised to hear that you were with Jensen today. You had mentioned you were going to stay home.”
Stephen smiled, almost in an attempt to let you know that he was trying to be lighthearted about it, but you could tell it bothered him.
“Yeah, when he saw it snowed last night, he just really wanted to make a snowman.” You laughed, trying to steer away from the subject. Stephan wasn’t overstepping, but he also wasn’t going to prevent you from spending time with Jensen. The two of you had been inseparable since, well, practically since birth. Your parents had been the best of friends, so you were pretty much raised together.
“Have you, um…” Stephen began, hesitantly. “I know you’ve been friends forever, but have you ever had feelings for him?”
His blue eyes shown with a slight jealousy as you felt a slight pang to your heart.
“No, of course not.” You managed to say with a steady voice and a smile as you picked up your napkin to place in your lap.
It was a lie, one that you’d been telling for years. At one point in your life, you were in love with Jensen. But, the past was in the past. If Jensen didn’t even know, why should Stephen?
Stephen seemed satisfied with your response for the most part, and the two of you had a pleasant lunch. When you stepped away to use the restroom, your phone chimed. Stephen tried not to even look towards your side of the table where your phone sat, but when he saw Jensen’s name, he read the text quickly before the screen dimmed.
Hey, sweetheart. Finishing up here soon and then I’ll be heading home. Do you need me to grab anything from the store?
Stephen knew the two of you were a package deal, and thought he could honestly be alright with it, but between working together and spending practically all of your time together, he was starting to wonder where he fit in in your life. He busied himself by checking his Instagram as he thought about what he should do and found that Jensen had tagged you in a photo from this morning. The caption was simple, just a few words about the filming hiatus and the first snow of the season, but the two of you were so close. Stephen found himself wishing that you could reserve a smile like that for him, but he had yet to see it.
It hurt, but he knew he couldn’t play second fiddle to Jensen. He cared about you, but perhaps it was better to bow out now.
“Hey, sorry about that.” You said brightly as you got back to the table, smiling. It still didn’t reach your eyes, though.
Stephen leaned forward on his elbows with a sigh, “Y/n, I think we should talk.”
To be continued...
Unravelling Love’s Mystery | F.W.
Tumblr media
Title: Unravelling Love’s Mystery
Requested: Yes/No
Summary: Fred and Y/N had bad blood between them ever since their first year at College. But when they are partnered up for a project, what could go wrong?
A/N: This is my first time writing an enemies to lovers so, I hope I was able to give it justice.
In my opinion, love is the greatest mystery of all, probably even the mystery that no one can come to solve. It will always be a mystery on how two people fall in love, how two people come to have this mutual understanding and affection.
Love brings many emotions to a person: heartbreak, anger, a sense of longing, but those people who have found their one true love, they feel joy, peace, a sense of satisfaction.
And love can come to the most unlikely pair, who would have thought that two childhood best friends end up together? Who would have thought that your soulmate happened to be your grumpy boss?
In my case, I ended up with the most unlikely contestant, my sworn enemy, Fred Weasley.
The Psychology of Love, that was our lecture topic for today. Don’t get me wrong, it is quite an interesting topic. But there was one person in the whole universe who could make the tables turn, and that was an arrogant, stubborn, and increasingly annoying classmate of mine named Fred Weasley.
“Okay class.” Professor McGonagall started the lecture as the latecomers settled into the remaining seats, “As you may have figured out from your essay that is – in fact - due today, our lecture is about the Psychology of Love.”
She looked at all of us with a stern but gentle look, “Now, which one of you can tell me who developed the triangular theory of love?”
My hand, along with Fred’s, promptly shot up in the air. McGonagall looked at us, a bit bored, if you ask me, as it was always the two of us.
“Mr. Weasley.” She called.
Fred stood up, throwing me a smug smile from across the hall.
“American Psychologist, Robert Sternberg is the one who developed the triangular theory of love.” He answered, sitting back down when he finished.
I rolled my eyes at him, crossing my arms over my chest, wanting so badly to smack him at the back of the head with my textbook to wipe that smug smirk of his face.
“Very good Mr. Weasley! Now, who can state all the three components of love that can be found in Robert Sternberg’s theory?” Our Professor asked.
Fred’s hand and mine both shot up to the air again, we exchanged a challenging look. It was another race, another competition to prove who’s better, who’s the best. Because only one can be at the top.
“Ms. L/N.” McGonagall called.
Fred wore a defeated look as I stood up from my seat, “The three components of love is: intimacy – which is defined as the closeness between people in personal relationships -, passion – which is a strong liking or desire -, and lastly, commitment – or being dedicated to the relationship, in my opinion, it is the most important component. Because intimacy and passion won’t prevail if there is no commitment in the relationship.”
She smiled, “That’s a perfect answer Y/N! Very well explained!” She praised.
I sat back down as McGonagall started to discuss, not being able to help the proud smile on my lips.
“Any more questions?” Professor McGonagall asks as she ends her presentation. Silence spreading through the lecture hall.
“Okay then, now before I dismiss you, I’ll briefly discuss your project. You are to make your own theory about love and you will do it in pairs. And I already decided your partners for you. I will read them aloud right now. There will be no complaining and no switching of partners.”
She then pulled up a file on her laptop and started reading out loud the names of the partners. That was until she read the last pair of names.
“Fred Weasley and Y/N L/N.”
“What?!” I whispered, turning to my best friend, Hermione, who was sitting next to me.
“Did I hear correctly? Out of every single person in this lecture hall, I’m partnered up with Fred?”
She nodded, “Yes, you heard correctly.”
I groaned, sinking back into my seat, “This is officially the worst project ever.”
Ginny chuckled, patting me comfortingly on the shoulder, “Well, as much as I feel sorry for you Y/N. It’s not like you have a choice.”
Even if Ginny is Fred’s younger sister, she was nothing like her brother. To be honest, I was friends with all the Weasleys, except Fred. It’s actually hard to believe that he came from the same family.
I glanced over to the side and saw that Fred wore the same look of horror on his face as he ranted to his buddies.
I stood up, shouldering my backpack as I marched down the steps towards McGonagall’s desk, vaguely aware that Fred was hot on my heels.
“Professor.” I said, “You can’t do this to us.”
She raised a brow at us, “Do what?”
“Partner Y/N and I up together for the project.” Fred answered.
“Why is that?” She asked, even though she already knew the answer.
I sighed, fiddling with the strap of my bag, “Professor, you know how Fred and I feel towards each other.” I said, glancing at Fred.
He ran a hand through his hair, “I hate to agree with her Professor, but she’s right.”
McGonagall pursed her lips, “Well, you two will just have to work with it. Like I said, no switching partners. And may I remind you Mr. Weasley and Ms. L/N, that this project contributes to 60% of your final grade. So, it’s either you give both of your best or you both fail.” She said, before walking out of the door, leaving both Fred and I alone in the now deserted lecture hall.
Fred groaned as he leaned against the desk, “What are we going to do now.”
I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms over my chest, “Well, it’s not like we can do anything about it. Unless you want to fail, of course.” I said, before walking out of the hall, in search of Hermione and Ginny.
--
“No matter what you do.” Hermione said, looking up from her project with Ron, “You can’t avoid it. So, go and get this whole thing over with. Unless you want to fail.”
It’s been a week since McGonagall gave the project, and Hermione was right.
I groaned, taking my stuff as I walked towards the door of our dorm, “Well, failing is never an option.” I said, as I headed towards the library, where Fred and I agreed to rendezvous.
“So, what should we do?” I asked, sitting down in the seat across him.
He shrugged, not bothering to look up from whatever he was writing, “Well, in case you weren’t listening, we are supposed to make a theory about love.”
I took out my textbook and my laptop, placing it in front of me, “Obviously I know that. What I’m asking is what is our theory?”
He shrugged again, “I don’t know.”
“What do you mean, you don’t know?” I asked.
He sighed, finally looking up from his work, “I thought you were smart.” He said sarcastically, “You can’t even understand something as simple as ‘I don’t know.’”
It took all of my willpower to bite back a retort, “Look Weasley, I am trying so hard to be nice to you. I don’t want to be here and neither do you. So, will you please stop being so arrogant and stubborn so we could get over with this?”
Fred scoffed, “Me? Being arrogant and stubborn? I’m sorry, but I’m trying my best to make this work because I don’t want to fail just because of a self-centered, ignorant little minx like you.”
“Me?” I said, “So, all of a sudden, it’s my fault? I don’t want to fail either Weasley. And I didn’t ask to be paired up with you. You think you’re so good and you’re so much better than anyone else! When in reality, there’s always someone better than you!” I spat as I abruptly stood up from my chair.
Fred followed suit, towering over me due to the difference in height, “Oh yeah? And who might that be? You?”
He scoffed, “Of course it’s you! It’s always you! You think you’re such a genius! You act so tough and strong but in reality, you’re a coward, you’re a failure. You think that you’re so perfect, that you’re so flawless. But let me tell you, you have flaws. Everyone has flaws.”
“So, you think you’re so perfect then.” I said, glaring up at him, feeling a rush of emotion crash down on me, all at the same time.
“At least I know that I could fail and I work hard to avoid that. You on the other hand, don’t. That’s the difference between the two of us.” He said, not backing down.
That was when it felt like the whole world was crashing down on my shoulders, that’s when I became overwhelmed, the stress, the emotions, the built-up anger caught up with me. The thick tension in the atmosphere around us started suffocating me.
I collapsed back into the chair I was sitting on earlier, burying my head in my hands, as I slowly broke down into tears.
I heard the chair next to me move as it scrapped against the metal floor.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” I heard Fred’s voice ask, as he gently rubbed my back. I couldn’t come to believe that he was concerned for my well-being.
“Why do you care?” I asked in between tears.
“Because, no matter how much I despise you, my mum always told me that the worst thing a man can do to a girl is make her cry.” He said softly.
I looked up at him, a few tears still dripping down my cheeks, “Are you really concerned? Or you’re just looking for another reason to torment me?”
He smiled at me for the first time as I saw genuine concern in his eyes, “I’m really concerned.” He said, pulling me gently into a hug as I rested my head on his chest.
“So, why are you really crying?” He asked.
I took a deep breath, “I mean, I know I’m not perfect. Nobody is, but my biggest fear has always been failing. I’m an only child and when my parents found out that I’m academically gifted, it made me their greatest treasure, it made me their pride and joy. I’ve always been insecure about that, whether if I’m already good enough or not. And hearing somebody voice out those insecurities, felt a million times worst. That’s the reason why I’m always trying to one up you. Because, if I fail, I would go from my parents’ pride and joy to being the disappointment of the family in a split second. And it’s just so stressful. And with our little argument, I just got so overwhelmed by my emotions that I had to let it all out.” I explained.
At the back of my mind, I was aware of Fred’s demeanor changing in a snap. From the person I despised whom I was screaming at minutes ago, to the person who was now bringing me comfort. He handled me so gently in my fragile state, as if I was made of glass, that it would have been hard to recognize him as my sworn enemy.
To anybody who would pass by, they would’ve been so confused at the sight. Me with my head on Fred’s chest, as he comfortingly rubbed my back while his other hand gently ran through my hair as he apologized over and over again.
I just wanted to stay in our small bubble. I wouldn’t admit it out loud but, I like this side of Fred better, the quiet, caring, gentle side of him.
“We’re not so different after all.” He said, breaking the silence that lingered between the two of us.
“What do you mean?” I asked, slightly confused.
Fred started to explain, “The pressure that’s being put down on us. Well, you’ve met Bill, Charlie and Percy, right? Bill’s prefect and head boy and he’s got amazing grades. Charlie has a very successful business. And Percy is basically the epitome of the perfect student. So, this puts a lot of pressure on me. That, in order to make Mum and Dad happy, then I have to be just like them. That’s why I’m always trying to compete with you. So, we’re not that different after all.” He finished with a reassuring smile.
I looked up at him, offering a small smile, “You’re right. Why don’t we call a truce for now? And when the project’s finish and being friends doesn’t work out for us, then we can go back to our old ways.” I said, offering my hand.
He took it and gave it a small shake, “Deal. And don’t you hate agreeing with me?”
I shook my head, “No. Because: one, I like this side of you better. And two, you do have a point.”
“Falling for me already L/N?” He teased.
I laughed, shaking my head, “In your dreams Weasley.”
We then started to work, sharing our ideas and concepts and working it out together.
We decided to call it a day when it was around 1 in the morning.
“So, we’ll rendezvous same place tomorrow?” I asked.
He nodded, “Sure.” Then he started fidgeting with the strap of his bag.
“Is there anything wrong?” I asked, seeing his nervousness.
He gave a shy smile, “Well, it’s just that your dorm is 6 blocks from here. And I just don’t want you to walk out there alone. So, if you want, you can stay at my dorm for the night, I’ll even sleep on the couch. But, if you’re not comfortable with that, then I could always walk you home.”
I chuckled, “Should I be suspicious if you have any hidden agenda on taking me back to your dorm?” I joked.
Fred laughed, raising his hand in mock surrender, “I have no such intentions. I’m only worrying about your safety. Like I said, I’ll sleep on the couch.”
I smiled, “Okay then. I’ll just send a quick text to Hermione so she wouldn’t worry about my whereabouts.”
I took out my phone, searching for Hermione in my contacts and sending a text to her.
>Hey ‘Mione. I’m not coming home tonight. I’ll be staying the night at Fred’s place.
I received her reply immediately.
>Woah, woah, I thought you despised him and his whole existence? What made you want to stay the night at his place?
<We called a truce, see how being friends works out for the both of us. Turns out we’re similar in a lot of ways.
>Yeah, and that includes staying the night at his dorm?
<Hermione, I’m ready to give him the benefit of the doubt. He deserves a chance. Besides, he swore that he has no hidden agenda and he’ll be sleeping on the couch.
I blushed as I read her reply, secretly hoping that Fred didn’t notice.
>Okay, I’m not saying that you’re making a reckless decision. But, at least the two of you are putting your differences aside. Who knows? You two might end up together.
>Hermione!
<What? I’m just saying ;)
“So,” Fred said, standing by my side a bit awkwardly, “What did she say?”
I licked my lips, “She’s fine with it.”
He grinned, “Okay then, let’s get going then.”
When we arrived at his dorm, it was more organized than I expected it to be.
“Your roommate is George, right?” I asked, placing my bag on a nearby chair.
He nodded, “Yeah. But he’s at Angelina’s dorm, so we basically have the place to ourselves.”
He headed to his room, coming out with a sweater and a pair of shorts in his grasp, then handing them to me.
“The bathroom is down the hall to the left.” He said as I gave him a grateful smile.
After I had changed, Fred had already set up his makeshift bed on the couch.
I bit my lip as I pulled my hair back into a messy bun, I felt like this was too much. I know that Fred was trying to make a good impression on our new-found friendship, but I didn’t want to abuse his kindness.
“Fred, I appreciate that you’re trying to make a kind gesture, but I’ll take the couch.” I said, gently.
He shook his head, a small smile on his lips, “No, it’s fine. I insist.”
I placed my hand on top of his, “You’re already letting me stay here for the night. So, I’m not kicking you out of your own bed. Let me be the one who’s doing something for you other than glare and bicker.” I joked.
He laughed, “Okay, fine. But just because that I have a feeling that if we go on, we’ll never meet the end.”
After turning the lights off, we then took the break we both can agree we deserve.
--
I woke up at 5 am, surprisingly, the couch was extremely comfortable and I haven’t felt this rested ever since my first year of College.
I stretched for a bit, for the first time in my life, I felt lazy. Turning onto my side, giving myself five more minutes of peace and tranquility before I had to get up. I took a deep breath, inhaling the lingering scent of Fred from the sweater I was wearing, which just added to the calm atmosphere in my little bubble of relaxation.
Five minutes transitioned into an hour, that’s when I knew that I really had to get up.
I slowly walked to Fred’s room, opening the door a bit to take a peek inside.
The ginger was still fast asleep, his hair sticking up in all directions while his soft snores bounced of the walls of the room.
I leaned against the door frame, vaguely aware of the small smile that had seem to grow on my lips. I had to admit, he looked kind of cute.
I headed to the kitchen, deciding to cook some breakfast for the two of us.
“Smells good.” Fred said as he emerged from his room an hour later, just as I had finished cooking.
He sat at the table as I slid his plate of pancakes in front of him.
He raised a brow, “Should I be suspicious if you have any hidden agenda in making me pancakes?” He asked, quoting my words from the previous night.
I laughed, sitting down on the seat across him, “Not at all. Just think of it as a token of my appreciation.”
He then took a bite as I watched him closely in anticipation.
“It’s better than anything I’ve ever had before.” He said with a small grin.
I breathed out a breath that I hadn’t realized that I was holding in, “Thank goodness.” I said.
“You know,” Fred said a few moments later, “For someone who I’ve been on bad terms with ever since our first year of College, you’re an amazing cook.”
I chuckled, “It’s kind of funny isn’t it? We’re in our last year of College and we’ve done nothing but spend the last three years bickering and all that stuff.”
The door of Fred’s dorm suddenly flew open as George stepped in.
“Hey Freddie, I’m home! Woah.” He was suddenly taken aback at the sight of Fred and I sitting at the dining table.
“Do my eyes deceive me?” He said, “Because I am seeing the two of you in the same room and there’s no tension in the air.”
I smiled, “Yeah, we decided to call a truce to work on the project and we would see how being friends works out for the both of us.”
“You’ve got to try her pancakes mate.” Fred piped in, “There’re the best you’ve ever tasted.”
George took the fork that his brother offered him, “Merlin! I never knew you were a cook Y/N.”
I chuckled, “It’s just something I work on in my free time.”
“Looks like being friends would work out in more than one way for the both of you.” He said with a small wink.
After breakfast, Fred walked me back to my dorm, because we both knew how much of a worry-wart Hermione can get.
“So, I’ll be seeing you in the library later?” He asked.
“You bet.” I said, before entering my dorm.
Hermione and Ginny were waiting for me inside, to my surprise, they didn’t bombard me with questions.
“So, how was giving Fred the benefit of the doubt?” Hermione asked, taking a sip of her coffee.
I shrugged, plopping my bag down on the couch, “It was pretty good.”
Ginny placed her chin on her hand while her elbow rested on the table, “A little birdy told me that you cooked breakfast for Fred.”
I playfully rolled my eyes, “Let me guess, the birdy was named George. And yes, I did make breakfast for Fred and I. It was just a token of my appreciation.”
“Yeah, right.” Hermione muttered under her breath with a small smile.
“I heard that Hermione.” I said, causing the two of them to burst out into laughter.
--
We only had a week left to complete the project.
Fred and I were sitting in the library, laptops running, there was almost no more space on the table with the number of books that were opened on top of it.
As I was drafting out the key points in our theory, when Fred tapped me on the shoulder, handing me a cup of coffee.
“Thanks.” I said, taking the cup from him and taking a small sip, “How much is it?”
“It’s on me.” He said, “You already paid for the printing of the project, the least I could do was get you some coffee.”
We sat in silence for a few more minutes, the sound of the typing on the keyboard being the only noises that could be heard.
“So, what happens to us after this project?” Fred suddenly asked.
I stopped typing, looking up at him, “Well, it looks like being friends seem to be working out for us.”
Fred chuckled, running a hand through his hair, “Yeah, I actually kind of like it when you’re smiling and you’re not shooting me glares and stuff.”
“Ditto.” I said, “Ever since I’ve discovered your soft and sweet side, I don’t want that to change.”
“But is being friends enough for us? What if one of us wants more?” He asked.
I looked at him, slightly confused, “What do you me-“ but my sentence was suddenly cut short, when he crashed his lips to mine.
I placed my hand at the back of his neck, pulling me closer to him as he rested his hands on my waist.
He then lifted me up and set me down on a free space on the table, kissing me as if there was not tomorrow.
We pulled apart, foreheads pressed together, both of us blushing like mad.
“That’s what I mean.” He whispered, “Because I love you. More than a friend, more than my enemy. I want you and nobody else but you. So, will you be mine?”
I giggled, pulling him in for another kiss before answering, “I’d love nothing more than to be yours.”
--
“Unravelling Love’s Mystery.” Professor McGonagall read the title of our theory as Fred and I stood in front of her.
Class has already been dismissed, the three of us being the only ones left in the room.
“Your theory was very interesting.” She complimented, “Especially since you two found it fit to insert your own love story in it.”
Fred and I smiled, “Well Professor, we thought that it went with the central theme of the theory.”
McGonagall offered us a smile, “The two of you have the most outstanding project in the class. I have graded it with full marks.” She said.
I felt Fred interlock our hands together, “Thank you Professor.” We both said.
Then Fred placed an arm around my waist, placing a kiss on my temple, “As much as we would love to stay and chat Professor, we have to go so we don’t miss our date at the movies.”
Our professor laughed, “Go on ahead, don’t let me stop you. I have been working at this institution for years, but the two of you are the cutest couple I have ever seen.”
NOTE: Yes, this is a repost. I edited a few things around because I didn’t like it when I read it over. Took me a few days to actually get around to doing such thing. Sorry about that, but please enjoy!
Dean wasn’t sure if he should be concerned at the state he found you in when he walked into the kitchen this morning, or take a picture to tease you about this later. It seemed you were in the process of eating breakfast before you somehow fell asleep at the table, your head cradled in your arms as you quietly snored, notifying Dean that you were in a deep sleep. You hadn’t taken a hunt in the past couple of days since coming back from New York, giving you and the boys a chance to catch up on some sleep between looking for jobs and trying to figure out how to fix the mess Metatron made. While you helped when you could, your sleep hadn’t been disturbed all that much. Dean thought this might have been the first time since you started hunting you’ve gotten a healthy amount of sleep.
He could tell because you slept like the dead last night. Dean had to lovingly, but quite forcefully, push you off his chest so he could get a jump start on the day. Normally it was you who slipped out of bed first and Dean eventually got himself up. Instead you rolled over to your side of the bed and slept for another twenty minutes before you got up. You seemed your usual self when you woke up this morning, eyes half-shut and grumpy, signaling to him you forced yourself up against your own will. On mornings like this Dean learned to wait until your first cup of caffeine to speak a word to you. It seemed you had just done that from how the pot was still hot and plenty full for everyone else. But for some reason, you were still exhausted and in need of a little cat nap.
“Sweetheart?” Dean quietly spoke out to you, making sure to keep his voice at a soft enough level so he didn’t disturb you from your slumber. Normally you were a light sleeper on a good day. He made his way over to the table and leaned over to see your peacefully sleeping face. You were out cold. His lips twitched into a small smile at how adorable you looked. Dean knew he was going to get it from what he did next, but to hell with the consequences. He never got the chance to prank you like he did with Sam.
Dean made his way over to the table with a bowl in hand and a little too roughly dropped it down, causing you to wake up abruptly and with a rush of panic. The man snickered to himself behind his coffee cup as he watched you frantically look around the kitchen wondering where the noise came from. When you realized who was to blame for your rude awakening, there was a few second delayed reaction before you rolled your eyes.
“Good morning, Sleeping Beauty.” Dean greeted you, smiling from the way you tried to fix your disheveled hair and smooth down your wrinkled top. “Did I disturb you?’
“What? No.” You mumbled. You rubbed your eyes like a tired child and forced yourself to keep a yawn from escaping your mouth. Sam happened to come into the kitchen right as you dropped your arms into your lap. The younger Winchester gave you a slightly confused reaction at your groggy demeanour. Your face scrunched up in annoyance from his lingering stare. “What are you looking at, Sasquatch?”
“Did you get any sleep last night?” Sam asked you out of concern, wondering if a bad nightmare kept you up most of the hours. None of you were strangers to restless nights due to a wandering mind that went to dark places you traveled to. Your entire life was a living nightmare, your past troubles liked to come and haunt you when you tried to sleep. But it seemed that wasn’t the case for you.
“On the contrary, she slept like a drunk baby. I had to pry her off me this morning.” Dean answered his brother’s question for you on his behalf. “And I caught her napping on the table.”
“Before either one of you waste your breath, I’m fine. It’s just…I’m fine.” You reassured the younger Winchester before he could bombard you with his typical worried expression and a follow up question. Despite your lack of a proper answer to explain your exhaustion, you didn’t want them to worry. They liked to over exaggerate things when it came to you. It's always been that way. Lately you didn’t want them looming over your shoulder, asking you every few minutes if you were feeling okay. Before either one of the brothers could drag out this conservation farther, you quickly changed the subject. “How’s Kevin? Has he found anything yet?”
“Jack. He’s on about four days of no sleep.” Dean said. He grabbed the box of cereal and poured himself a bowl while Sam joined the both of you at the table after fixing himself a cup of coffee. “He looks worse than you.”
“Dean, please. You know Sammy doesn’t like it when you flirt with me out in the open like this.” You replied with a sarcastic remark with a little hope the boys might think you were in decent shape after all if you were able to keep up with the petty banter. Despite how you looked. Somehow you thought you might feel worse. “What about Crowley? Do you think he might be lying about the whole ‘Metatron spell being irreversible’ thing?”
“Crowley lie?” Dean pretended to sound shock at such a possibility, causing Sam to scoff between sips of his coffee. While the situation was grim, there was a small silver lining that you might be able to use to your advantage over the demon. “I do know one thing. Next time that junkie’s jonesing for a hit of blood, we got leverage.” You were about to agree with the plan, knowing it was better than anything you had, but the words failed to come out of your mouth. Instead a rather loud yawn escaped first. “Seriously, you want a pillow?”
You rolled your eyes from your boyfriend’s concern hidden behind his behavior. “I’m fine.”
“You don’t look so good, Y/N.” Sam shared his concern along with his brother’s. He’d been silent for most of the conversation since settling beside you. It didn’t take much observations to see you weren’t looking that great as of lately. He was starting to grow uneasy with the possibility that there might be something wrong with you. Something deeper than you realized. “Do you feel like you’re getting sick?”
“I’m not sick. I just—I feel like my battery can’t recharge.” You admitted to them, trying to explain how you felt to the best of your ability to them. “I don’t know. It’s probably just stress or something.”
You reached for your bowl of soggy cereal when the room fell into a moment of silence. The brothers glanced over at one another from hearing how you felt. A string of unspoken words were said between them as they processed what you explained about your current situation. You were being held together from the inside out with duct tape and angel grace. Things weren’t moving quick or as efficient as they wanted. Despite wanting to talk about it, Ezekiel remained silent on a possible reassuring update, choosing to stay silent.
You scooped up a spoonful of flakes and stretched out your head to take a bite, only stopping at the sound of a cell phone going off. Dean reached a hand inside his pocket to pull out his phone after realizing it was his own and answered the call. The person on the other line was a familiar one to the boys, you however gave the older Winchester a slightly confused expression at hearing the name he greeted.
”Who’s Sheriff Mills?” You whispered to Sam, wondering why the name sounded a bit familiar, just not enough for you to put a face to a name.
“Jody Mills? The sheriff up in Sioux Falls? We worked on a case with her years back with all the dead people rising in town?” Sam tried refreshing your memory. You thought about it for a second before shaking your head, coming up blank. He tried to resist the urge to pass his brother a look of disbelief as he continued on to try and jog your memory. “She went on a blind date with Crowley and nearly died.”
“Oh.
 Jody.” You finally figured out who was on the other line, your fingers snapping at your eureka moment before the call could be put on speaker for all of you to talk to the woman to see what she was calling about.
“Uh…I got a bit of an oddball to pitch your direction.” Jody said. You leaned forward to listen to the call better as you placed your elbow on the table to cradle your head. For a second you swore you heard a faint sound of something crashing in the distance. “A small town I cover outside of Sioux Falls—only crime to speak of being the occasional cow tipping. Then last week, four people go missing.”
“All right, so, what makes you think this is our kind of weird?” Dean asked the woman.
“I’ve got a witness who says he saw someone lift an S.U.V. to nab a girl last night.” She told you the key detail that made her think of the boys and call them for some extra help.
“Huh.” You glanced over at the boys with a rather intrigued expression as the possibility of another case for you to dig a little bit deeper into to see if it might be a hunt. “I don’t know about you, but I’d say that’s definitely our kind of weird.”
+ + +
 You and the boys packed up your things and made the drive up to South Dakota to visit the sheriff. You figured it wouldn't hurt to keep yourselves busy while Kevin worked himself to the bone with the tablet. All of you decided to meet at the latest crime scene and go from there while you caught up on details. You were happy to be out of the bunker and moving around. You hoped going back on another hunt might give you a second wind. There was nothing better than a couple of missing people to get the adrenaline pumping. You just wished you knew what was making you so damn tired. You bit back another yawn when the Impala pulled into the parking lot of some diner.
You were the last one to get out when Dean parked the car next to the sheriff’s truck, still moving a bit slower than you intended. The boys greeted Jody with wide smiles and tight hugs after seeing her again. You slammed the backseat door shut and smoothed out your outfit before approaching the woman, giving her a friendly smile. However it seemed she wasn’t expecting to see you. Your smile faltered slightly at the confused and startled expression that crossed her face. It seemed the boys failed to mention about your resurrection from the dead when they called to see how she was after everything that went down earlier this year with her blind date with the King of Hell.
“What’s wrong, Jody? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Dean joked with the woman, finding her reaction at seeing someone who thought was dead was rather funny. She turned her head to look over at the man, demanding an explanation. “Yeah. We felt the same way when I saw her again. It’s a long, messy story.”
“I’m
 a ghost. Or a zombie.” You reassured the woman before she could try and process how you were somehow alive. “It really is a messy story. Short version of it all: not really dead, just lost my memory and thought I was someone else for two years.”
“It never is easy with you boys, huh?” Jody felt the need to ask. You could hear the humor in her voice at the trouble that seemed to follow them. “Anyway, it’s nice to see you again, Y/N. Glad you’re not dead.”
“Me too.” You agreed with the woman, smiling at how her personality peeked through her words. From what you remembered about the woman all those years ago when Bobby was still alive, you liked her. And the things the boys mentioned about her during the drive here made you think she was going to be a good friend to have on your side. “Luckily, I’m back and ready to hunt down whatever is kidnapping these people.”
“That’s the spirit. So, car was right over there, ass over teakettle.” Jody gestured over to the other side of the parking lot where the abduction took place, all that remained was the broken glass from the car that was currently being swept up by a maintenance worker. “Now, normally, if somebody would tell me that one guy lifted an S.U.V, I’d tell him to take a flying leap, but after what I’ve seen and now heard…”
“Nothing’s impossible.” You said. You opened up the case file to one of the missing people and skimmed through the information, wondering if there might be something important here to make note of while the boys went through the others. "How does this match up with other missing people?”
“Well, four abductions, strong evidence left at every scene—literally.” Jody said.
“So, the first vic was a pastor?” Sam asked, wondering if there was another more solid connection to the rest of the victims.
“Yeah. Door of his study was punched in. And the next two—an engaged couple.” Jody explained the case in better detail. You looked down at the case file Dean laid open on the trunk of the Impala and the black and white photograph attached. All of the victims appeared to be the small town folk who were innocent at first glance. Someone went out of their way to snatch them up.
“Locked bedroom window was ripped open.” Dean noted the similarly strange and destructive pattern between each kidnapping.
‘And then we have our waitress here with the topsy-turvy ride.” Jody added.
“Any other connection among them?” Sam wondered.
“Yeah. They were all members of Good Faith church here.” Jody said. You narrowed your eyes slightly while you thought of the possibility of what might be might be to blame for this if there was a religious connection to all of this. You and the boys dealt with something like this a little similar earlier in the year. “My church group back in Sioux Falls was in a tizzy over it.”
Dean hummed his response at hearing the sheriff and her new found spiritual faith. You tossed him a dirty look at his reaction to the woman’s faith to God. She had every right to believe in whatever she wanted, even if you didn’t feel the same way. Jody seemed to have picked up on the same feelings you had when she asked him what that was all about. “I didn’t peg you for churchy.”
“Yeah. You know…choking on the ladies’ room floor ‘cause of witchcraft kind of makes a higher power seem relevant.” Jody gave the man a truthful response to her sudden urge to join a church. You offered a weak smile when you saw her eyes direct over to you. “And seeing someone you were told was dead doesn’t help, either.”
“Jody, are you sure you’re ready to jump back into the fray?” Dean asked the woman in a concerned tone of voice, knowing all the things she witnessed last year and the passing of Bobby didn’t help the woman. But it seemed he underestimated her.
“This wackadoo stuff keeps coming. More I know, better armed I’ll be.” Jody gave an honest response to the man’s question. She was a sheriff, after all. If she wanted to protect her town from creatures that went bump in the night, she was going to have some practice in order to do that. You had a feeling from what Jody witnessed over the years, it was going to take a lot to scare the woman to the core.
“Okay, so, we have missing church folk and super strength.” Sam summarized what all of you knew at the moment so far about the case. He decided to take a shot in the dark, figuring it wouldn’t hurt to throw his theory out there. “Maybe angels harvesting vessels? Could be a Buddy Boyle type thing.”
“Wh—angels?” Jody repeated the creature the younger Winchester spoke out in the open like it was nothing. She looked at all of you with disbelief at how casual you were being. “You’re joking.”
“Don’t get your pants on fire.” Dean said, stopping the woman from becoming thrilled at hearing about creatures she thought only existed in the bible. “They suck.”
“You said there was a witness.” Sam said, circling back to what Jody mentioned earlier.
“Yeah, well…” Jody shrugged at the person who was waiting for you to talk to them. She didn’t seem too set on the idea they were going to be any help to you. “More or less.”
You and the boys decided to get a booth inside the restaurant while Jody rounded up the witness so you could speak to them. You sipped the coffee you ordered out of politeness and patiently waited. A few minutes later Jody arrived with your witness, a homeless man who most likely camped out near the place from the looks of him. You offered a friendly smile when the man's eyes scanned across the table to see what this was all about. Jody pulled up a chair while she ushered the man to take the seat in the booth next to you when you slid over to be close to the window. He set his coffee cup down to the table, seeming comfortable enough to give his side of the story.
“Okay, Slim.” Jody said. “My friends here want to talk to you about the missing girl.”
“Honor. Her name was Honor.” The man started off by giving the missing girl’s name, indicating that he knew her on some personal level. And it seemed he remembered her from the kind behavior given to someone like him. “Nice girl. Always left me meatloafs.”
“Slim, why don’t you tell us what you saw that night?’ Sam asked the man, hoping to get to the reason why he was here in the first place.
“I heard a big noise, got woke, and there’s somebody over there lifting a car up—like this.” Slim demonstrated what he witnessed last night, lifting up his arms the way he saw the stranger did to the car, as if the several ton machine weighed nothing.
“And did you happen to see who it was?” You asked him another question.
“I was too far. But I saw a light go off.” Slim made sure to add a small detail he thought was important enough to mention. Sam guessed it was a white light, “Blue. Blue like fire. But not. Then she was—she wasn’t there.”
“Could you think of anything else?” Dean hoped for a little bit more from the man, but Slim shook his head before he looked down to his cup of coffee. He was helpful enough for you and the boys at figuring out what you might be tracking. Dean pulled out a small wad of cash from his pocket and handed over a twenty dollar bill to Slim, hoping to give him a hot meal for his help. “Well Slim, thank you for your time.”
Slim happily pocketed the money and went on his way with the cup of coffee he came over with. You let out a quiet sigh from trying to figure out the proper direction you should be going to figure all of this out. While you didn’t have much at the moment, Slim’s description of the kidnapping might have been something for you and the boys to go off on.
“Okay. So, no white light. No angel.” Sam said, feeling confident enough to cross the creature off the list at the endless other monsters to blame.
“Has anybody talked to the victims’ families?’ Dean asked the sheriff.
“It’s next on my list.” Jody answered.
“Okay, and you said that they were all part of the same church?” Dean’s question was replied with a nod of the head from Jody. This connection, strong or weak as it might be, was the only one you had going for you as a possible hunting ground of where this monster was picking their victims. It was better than anything. Your lips stretched into a frown when Dean looked over at you. “Ready to get your worship on?”
+ + +
You and the boys decided to change out your clothes meant for posing as federal agents in favor of something more casual. The church all four of your victims seemed the usual run of the mill place of worship. You pretended to play along as the new people in town interested in joining to get a better understanding of how things worked. The woman who helped give you a tour of the place was a little too friendly and squeaky clean for your liking. She smiled in delight when you and Dean introduced yourselves as a happy couple "engaged to be engaged" with his little brother tagging along.
You roamed around the church hand in hand with Dean while Bonnie, your overly peppy tour guide, told you all the things Good Faith church offered to its members and the public. Usual things like Sunday school and charities for the homeless. You decided to have a little fun and play into the whole loving couple when Bonnie mentioned the church was perfect for weddings as well. You smiled at her when she occasionally turned to see you and Dean whispering to each other, acting like a couple of crazy kids in love with a religious ceremony in mind. It wasn't that far off from the truth. You did love Dean, and while you wanted to marry him someday, a church would be the last place you'd choose to do it.
After the tour was complete, the four of you made your way to Bonnie's office where she took a seat at her desk before gesturing for the rest of you to follow with the few chairs she had available. Sam missed out when his brother swiftly snatched the chair next to yours, causing Dean to smirk in victory while the younger man awkwardly looked around to find another seat and pulled it up next to the desk.
"We hope you enjoyed the tour." Bonnie said, the smile she greeted you with felt as if it never left her face. It was starting to make your cheeks hurt at the welcoming disposition she carried on. "Any questions before we get you all registered?"
"Yeah. Uh, look," You pretended to be apprehensive from the subject you were about to approach after she had been so kind to you. "Ms. Futchko—"
"Oh, please, dear." Bonnie quietly laughed at the formalities and corrected to you something more casual, wanting to treat this situation like you were among friends. "Bonnie will do just fine."
"We love the church. We do." You cushioned the strange questions you were about to ask her, deciding to pretend and act as if you were a concerned citizen wondering what you might be getting yourself into. "But...well, we've heard that a few members have gone missing. And while my boyfriend likes to think he's Superman," You flashed a quick smile as you reached out to squeeze Dean's hand before letting it rest there to continue milking the little performance on sharing your fake concerns. "We’ve been talking in private about it. And to be honest…that kind of scares us.”
"Let me assure you, with our increased security, Good Faith has never been safer." Bonnie told you, placing a hand to her chest to try and give all of you a better peace of mind. It seemed she was worried about her fellow churchgoer, just in the way a little too religious person thought was the best form of action. Leaving it up all to the chance God would intervene and save the day. "And those people who have gone missing, well, they are front and center in our prayers."
"What a relief." Dean let out a breath at the reassuring sounding news, making Bonnie's smile return after it disappeared shortly from the change in conversation. "Now, you must have been close to them."
"Well, we do share the A.P.U. bond." Bonnie. Dean pretended to be intrigued at hearing such a thing when he asked more about it. "Our chastity group. ‘Abstinence Purifies Us.’”
You pretended to turn your head to another direction when you scratched your nose, the easiest way to sneak an eye roll of frustration at hearing the new connection to the victims. Out of anything, you should’ve seen the virginity angle coming from where you were.
"Wow." Sam laughed and smiled, faking interest about such a group. "You mind if we sit in on that, maybe see if it's for us?"
“I’m afraid it’s members only. I'm sorry, but it can get pretty personal." Bonnie apologized for the inconvenience after offering so many things for you to join, but it seemed this one was off limits for obvious reasons. You, never being the one to miss an opportunity, jumped to it before either one of the boys could back out.
“Then count us in.” You said, lightly smacking your thigh as you grinned.
"Well, I'll be a squirrel in a skirt." Bonnie softly laughed in delight at hearing your eager enthusiasm to join a group, intidicating to her that the three of you were good Christians. You mirrored her behavior as you smiled over at Dean when he squeezed your hand a little too roughly, wondering what the hell you got yourselves into. "I'll be back in a jiff with the papers."
Bonnie wasted no time jumping up from her seat and heading to another room across the way, allowing you to watch what she was doing. She opened up a filing cabinet and shuffled around some papers to find what she was looking for. Your attention fell back to Dean when you felt him softly smack your arm.
“A chastity group?” Dean asked you, wondering if this was really how you wanted to spend your afternoon. And why you needed to drag him into your plan. You knew he would love to do anything else than listen to a bunch of horny virgins go on about temptations and sins brought on by the world.
"It's not a bad idea." Sam seemed to have agreed with your plan of action, figuring out the same possible pattern you had. If you knew who was in the group, you might have a better chance at saving others from going missing. "If all the members were in A.P.U., then maybe whatever took them is stalking virgins."
"And that Slim guy said he thought he saw fire." Dean added another little detail that went together with the virginity part. Something you've dealt with before. "So, what are you guys thinking, dragons?"
You never got the chance to finish the conversation when you saw Bonnie return back with the forms in hand. You cleared your throat and went back to acting casual as if that’s what you had been doing the entire time she was gone during the short period of time. You forced yourself to smile again when she handed you over a clipboard with a piece of paper attached.
"You can just sign here, and your purification can begin." Bonnie instructed you, letting you glance down at the piece of paper. You read the title of the paper and slowly your expression fell as to what you were about to promise. Something you lost several years ago. You bit your bottom lip when Sam mentioned the pledge, only to be taken by someone who had never had intercourse before. "It's a commitment to your virginity."
"I don't think we can really un-ring that bell." Dean thought he was funny with the innocent sounding joke, deciding to humor himself. Bonnie, however, stared at the man with a blank expression. It hadn't dawned on her just yet why you couldn't sign right away. "You know what I mean?"
A moment of silence fell across the room as Dean's smile faded away when Bonnie continued to stare at the man with eyes too wide for his personal comfort. Slowly, the wheels in her head started turning, making her realize the sins you've committed. "Oh. I see." Bonnie's gaze quickly darted away from you and Dean specifically, as if she was trying to hide her disappointment. However, like the good Chrisitan that she was, the woman offered you a chance at redemption. "Well...if you just ask for God's forgiveness for your sins and make a new vow of chastity, well, then you'll be born again as a virgin in His eyes."
"So, you just hit the 'virginity do-over' button, and all is good with the man upstairs?" Dean's question meant to come off as sincere and curious, but he had a way of coming off a little igorent at times. Sometimes he didn't understand the kind of people he was dealing with and how to adapt.
"It's not a button." Bonnie corrected the man. Her tone of voice fell into a softer, and yet slightly colder one as she defended her personal views in a way to make him better understand. "And...this isn't just a piece of paper. I mean, this is your clean slate, your chance to be a virgin until marriage. Isn't that something you want? To be pure for each other until your wedding night, the way God intended?”
You raised your brow slightly from the way Bonnie tried to guilt trip you for doing something thought of as a sin. Premarital sex was the least horrible thing someone could do. However, just to get yourself into this damn group, you decided to pretend and feel remorseful for a second. You looked over to Dean, the both of you nodding your head and shared matching smiles. "Well, you had me at 'clean slate.' Right, sweetheart?" Dean asked you, clicking his pen to be the first one to sign. "Let's do this."
You and the boys signed your names on the pledge and handed over the clipboards back to Bonnie's awaiting hands. She glanced down at the names you scribbled down and smiled in delight. "Congratulations Sam and Dean Winchester, and Y/N Y/L/N. You are all virgins."
You found yourself letting out a quiet laugh at hearing something you hadn't heard in a while. Sam faked his enthusiasm while Dean took it a smidge too far, grinning a little too wide and seeming excited at the news. At least making a show out of it for Bonnie. You knew one thing for certain: this was going to be one interesting afternoon.
