Honestly, the trials weren’t all that bad.

They weren’t great, obviously. There was no getting used to having a meat hook shoved through your shoulder or the feeling of dying gruesomely only to come back again, and every moment of peace he felt a lang of loss for his snake. But really, other than that it wasn’t the worst thing in the world. Definitely beat retail.

This time Eli spotted that bone-white mask shrouded by a black hood, the figure crouching nearby to spy on him. He couldn’t help but grin. Scream was always one of his favorite horror franchises, and he was hopped up on adrenaline and a nearly finished generator.

“Like what ya see, Ghostie?” he taunted over his shoulder, flashing a smirk over at the killer. He flipped the last switch as the generator blared to life. Time to go!

A new survivor always brought a bit of interest to Danny, especially one this calm and casual about trials as a whole.

He's seen his fair share of confident survivors, namely when Leon and Jill arrived and even Gabriel had an air of seriousness to them. But this person didn't seem to be in their league, more like... Nea. Or Dwight. The casual common folk whose daily routine he mapped out back when he could watch the sun rise and didn't rub elbows with monstrosities. And so this match was a smidge less serious, although he didn't intend for everyone to live at all.

Maybe that's why he was staring from this distance, peeking out a little farther than he should. Intrigue. Curiosity. A curiosity that was fed by the smirk as the generator popped, and the Ghostface was left lagging behind a second too long. His shroud was still maintained and with the others recovering from a devastating bit of knife work, he set to chase Eli down with quiet footfalls and determination. Too casual. You don't just laugh in the face of death like that and live.

And so as Eli ran about he took advantage of the maintained shroud and took a detour, weaving through the loop at an odd angle to catch Eli off guard and once he got the man in his sights...

Pop.

His vision went red and his heart thumped, blood rushing as the newbie was exposed and he quickly lunged forward to jab the blade into his side to smack that smirk off his face.

my top 10 favourite characters EVER (in no particular order)

1. nick miller (new girl)

- he’s so chaotic and stupid and i relate to him so much, definitely one of my favourite comfort characters

2. andy dwyer (parks and recreation)

- also chaotic and stupid, i just think he’s funny and adorable, just generally wholesome, another favourite comfort character

3. loki laufeyson (marvel cinematic universe)

- he’s on that absolute king shit!!! chaotic, funny, badass, has magic and can be scary (which is a slay). the fact that he’s queer is a major plus too

4. scott lang (marvel cinematic universe)

- just a goofy lil guy with so much love in his heart. another amazing and wholesome comfort character

5. merlin + arthur pendragon (bbc merlin)

- 2 for 1 cause they’re best together. i read merthur fics everyday and while i know fics aren’t accurate to their actual character/canon, they have one of the best dynamics ive ever seen

6. adelina amouteru (the young elites trilogy by marie lu)

- been ages since i read this but adelina is such a cool character. if i had powers, id want to have hers (or flying, that’d be great). actually went as adelina for halloween once. 10000/10 recommend the young elites

7. lena luthor / morgana pendragon (supergirl / bbc merlin)

- another 2 for 1. i watched merlin because i saw katie mcgrath in supergirl and now i read merthur everyday. both lena and morgana’s journeys are beautiful imo. lena from light to dark back to light. morgana’s from light to dark when it was so preventable. perfect characters for a perfect actress

8. nick nelson (heartstopper tv)

- i related to his s1 storyline quite a bit but overall he’s just such a loving character. sometimes when i see him on screen, i think he’s gonna explode with how much he loves charlie, his mom, nellie. reblog if u also need a nick nelson hug LOL

9. mirabella (three dark crowns series by kendare blake)

- one of my favourite book series and my favourite mc!! like seriously guys look up this series, the original plot is so cool and there’s some plot twists that made my jaw drop - my sister rating goes mirabella, katharine, arsinoe btw hehe

10. dwight schrute (the office)

- he carried the show tbh. especially after michael left. i never rly cared much for jim and pam (ofc i wanted them to get together but i don’t love them). dwight was consistently funny and chaotic, and most of the best plots included/rided on him

Climate Change en Toerisme: "Er is geen beleid hiervoor"

Al lopend op de rivierbedding van de Kabaleborivier komt de geur van dode vissen je tegemoet. Ook de afgesloten waterplassen die vol leven zitten, kunnen gevaarlijk zijn,want de roggen hebben geen andere uitweg. Zo af en toe kom je ook de karkassen van dode roggen tegen, die door een roofvogel zijn leeg gepikt. West-Suriname, rondom de Kabaleborivier, zit nog steeds vol wildlife en ongerepte natuur, maar dat klimaatsverandering haar greep heeft op de mooie natuur is duidelijk te merken. Suriname kampt al sinds eind vorig jaar met een aanhoudende droogte met alle gevolgen van dien. Momenteel ligt de Kabaleborivier droog en dit heeft impact op de bedrijfsvoering van Wanawiro Nature Resort, Jeffrey Sennan, beheerder van het oord, zegt geen toeristen te kunnen ontvangen. Samen met zijn vader, moeder en zusje draait hij het resort. Vanuit het jagerskamp in Manjabon, ook onderdeel van het oord, zouden bezoekers van Wanawiro bij normale waterstand moeten overstappen naar een boot om een boottocht te maken van minder dan een half uur met alle benodigdheden. De boottocht duurt echter slechts 5 minuten en Jeffrey met samen met helpers en bezoekers over de rivierbedding van de Kabaleborivier lopen naar het resort. "Lopen met lading en alle spullen die je nodig hebt tijdens de tour, vergt heel veel energie. Dat kan je misschien een of twee keer doen, maar dat maakt je kapot. En het maakt ook dat je bijna niemand kan accommoderen", zegt Jeffrey. Sinds februari voorspelt de meteorologische dienst dat Suriname en de regio te kampen zouden hebben met extreme droogte. Volgens Dwight Samuel, meteoroloog, is de kans ook groot dat het kan aanhouden tot eind van het jaar. Dit is volgens de Wanawiro-oordhouder funest. "We gaan zeker 80 procent van onze bedrijfsvoering niet kunnen uitvoeren, omdat er dan helemaal geen water zal zijn. Er zal misschien een beetje stromend water zijn, maar de vissen gaan zeker dood en dan heb je onrein water en dat is niet gezond, voor niemand", merkt Jeffrey op. Nu is het volgens hem nog mogelijk in het water te gaan, echter verwacht hij na 3 weken tot een maand dat het niet meer veilig is om in het water te zwemmen. De term El Niño verwijst naar een opwarming van het oceaanoppervlak, of bovengemiddelde zeewatertemperaturen, in de centrale en oostelijke tropische Stille Oceaan. Na El Niño verwacht de meteodienst dat La Niña zal volgen, dat wil zeggen abnormale neerslag. Dat heeft volgens Jeffrey ook gevolgen voor het uitvoeren van toerisme op de Kabaleborivier. In 2019 lag Wanawiro compleet blank en was het water drie jaren lang blijven hangen. Daar is veel schade en geld mee gemoeid gegaan. Hij werkt nog steeds aan het goed herstellen van de kampen om toeristen aangenaam te kunnen ontvangen. Hij houdt zijn hart vast voor wat La Niña kan brengen voor zijn resort. "Te veel water is ook niet goed, behalve dat het water veel te hoog is, heb je dan ook last van een te sterke stroomversnelling en dat kan heel gauw gevaarlijk worden. Daar kun je ook geen toeristen mee accommoderen", merkt de oordhouder op. Volgens Jeffrey is er bijna geen beleid wat betreft klimaatverandering en toerisme. Vaak genoeg zijn bedrijven die slachtoffer zijn van de gevolgen van klimaatverandering aan hun lot overgelaten. Na de grote wateroverlast die drie jaren heeft geduurd, heeft Jeffrey helemaal geen ondersteuning gekregen vanuit de overheid. "De toerismesector heeft geen enkele ondersteuning van de overheid. Er wordt heel veel gesproken, maar je hoeft niks van de overheid verwachten." Dit is jammer zegt Jeffrey, vooral omdat de regering vaak buiten Suriname de 93 procent bosbedekking verkoopt aan de rest van de wereld. "In de praktijk is het compleet anders, duurzaam toerisme ontwikkeling zou je 100 procent moeten ondersteunen. Het is klein, maar de impact die het zal hebben voor het grotere doel zou ondersteund moeten worden door de overheid", merkt Jeffrey op. Read the full article
