Note: Parasomnia refers to a sleeping disorder or disturbance, particularly sleepwalking.

Fun fact: Jellyfish, despite not having brains, do experience a period of restfulness / low activity during the night that’s still considered sleep. This has been used to learn more about sleep patterns in humans, especially since jellyfish are “ancient” creatures, implying that the existence of sleep as a beneficial or necessary process has very old evolutionary origins.
