See, I want a Wayne Family Band AU, except they would absolutely 100000% write songs about how each other sucks and then perform them on-stage right alongside THE PEOPLE WHOM THE SONGS ARE ABOUT.

Like, the unhinged toxicity of Fleetwood Mac or the Gallaghers, but non-sexual.

JASON TODD: I fucking hate that guy. You know I wrote “I Hate You Please Die” about him. If he gets within 50 feet of me I’m throwing hands.

INTERVIEWER: You’re actually due on-stage with him in an hour.

JASON TODD: Yeah. And?

I'm fall in love for @strange-birb drawings, and especially for the secret band AU. I love the style, the outfits and thanks to you I discover a band like Palaye Royale ( I stayed all day to listen their songs).

I'm sorry for my drawing style, and I confess that I was inspired by Ai Yazawa because I don't know how to draw people with guitars (actually I'm terrible in everything oh well…) (then Nana is one of my favorite manga, so maybe there's a reason why I chose her)

Ideas for a Singer/Band AU

The Justice League main seven are managers who used to be part of a band (Justicia Inc.) themselves. (Some of their hit songs included “Watcher’s Tower”, “JLA” and “Welcome (to the Family)”. Clark was their lead singer, with Diana on guitar and backup vocals, Arthur on the trumpet, Barry as their percussion guy and backup vocals, Jo’nn on the bass, Hal as the drummer (and kazoo player, for some reason) and Bruce as the pianist whose face was always obstruced by either shadow, a badly placed mic, or Barry zooming around with a tamburine.

Clark is both the manager and the producer of the Indie-Rock-Band “House of El”. They consist of L. Kara Danvers, the lead singer, Christopher Fenton-Kent on bass, Conner A. Kent as lead guitar and backup vocals and Jonathan S. Lane-Kent as their drummer. They mostly sing pretty harsh stuff, but have some nice feel good songs that Jon and Chris came up with. (Most songs Kara writes include some lines in her native language, Kryptonian.) Their best recieved songs are “Fortress” and “Kryptonite” (a cheery love song).

Arthur manages “Seaweed and the Fuckups”. (Rachel came up with it while being sarcrastic and Gar begged until they kept it.) Their lead singer is Garth Curie (the titular seaweed), with Wallace Rudolf West on guitar, Rachel Roth on bass, and Garfield Logan on drums. (Later they rename themselves “Seaweed and the Fuckups and Kori”, when Korinna Anders joins them on backup vocals and saxophone.) Their biggest hits are “Atlantis”, “Demons” and “Green Eyes (Monster)”.

Diana has a girl band named “NotAmazon” - Donna Troy as lead singer (even tho that pisses Artemis off to no end), Artemis O. Bana-Mighal on guitar, Cassandra Sandsmark on the drums, Cicely King-Jones on bass and Secret, who is incredibly camera shy and only uses a pseudonym on piano. Some of their songs include “What we Deserve”, and “Truth Is (I know you lied)”

Hal manages solo artist Roy Harper. Roy sings and plays guitar and keyboard. He is mostly a rock singer, tho he’s also done ballads (for and about his daughter Lian). His first song with Hal was “Snowbird”. His best selling songs are “Light at the End of the Tunnel”, and “Scotchtape”( including the line “Do you know what it’s like,/tinkering together broken pieces of a life,/ hoping scotchtape can keep you together?”)

Bruce manages the band his foster son founded when he was fourteen. They are named “Bats’n’Birds”. Richard Grayson is their lead singer, Jason Todd on bass, Cassandra Cain plays piano (Babara Gordon did before her), Damian Wayne is their drummer (Tim used to be, but Dick replaced him when he was in rehab for two months), Duke Thomas is their guitarist (before he joined Dick just played and sang), Tim Drake is on percussion (and occaisionally violin or chello. Yes, he plays both.), Barbara is a co manager now, Step was their drummer for a while, then their pianist, now she’s backup vocals and harmonica. The Row siblings want to be a light director and audio technician one day. Some of their songs are “Children of the Night”, “Robins”, “Red World” and “Counting Blackbirds”.

Hi ghosty!! 'Course I do!

So i created a fic rec list over here before, but I'm happy to give more fic recs! I'll combine the ones I've posted individually and new ones under the cut

So obviously there's envysparkler's works. She is iconic. Every one of her fics are iconic.

And obvi @sardonic-sprite as well.

But there is one fic I will forever rec and it's Rebel Without a Claus by DangerBeckett. Really. It is in every one of my fic recs. It has me writing comments longer than a page long. It's still in progress and it's currently 10 chapters though. And updates are slow, but the highlight of my day when I get the email that it's been updated.

two against the world - carolinaa Hurt/comfort! Angst with a happy ending! TIM GETS A DOG IN THIS ONE!!! AND THEN THE TWO RUN AWAY FROM DRAKE MANOR!! THEN THEY GET ADOPTED BY THE BATS!!!

head in the clouds - Alienu Humor! Crack! *falls to the floor* It's so funny and so batfamily, I can't.

Little bird - Ididloveyou_once Hurt/Comfort! Whump! Seriously, the whump is so good in this Titans Tower AU

The Product of Procrastination - egg_thief Humor! Crack! I read it whenever I go through tough times and feel so weighed down, and it still makes me laugh. Tim's procrastination leads him to ask for help from his two older brothers on his English assignment.

A Touch of Midas - Ellegrine Humor! Fluff! Seriously- such good fluff. When I read that dragon metaphor, I nearly sobbed. But yeah, Tim messing with his brothers is peak.

Sprinkles - SunnyBlue Whump! Angst! Fluff! AND FOREHEAD TOUCHES! GHEFOUJDS Tim's almost dying and Damian does not intend to keep it that way.

The Thing™ - InkpotSprite Crack! Humor! AND ME SCREECHING OUT LOUD AND LITERALLY CACKLING OUT LOUD WITH LAUGHTER. OH GOSH, IT'S ANOTHER TITANS TOWER AU BUT IT'S SO HILARIOUS.

Okay, let's do some multichap fics

Green rings and red things - siren_of_the_ocean In this one, Tim becomes a Green Lantern and the storyline is so good, it had me entertained as I was reading it while I was sick.

Let's be Brothers - Honeybuttons Funny, twists, adorable friendships, adorable plots, I LOVE IT!! Tim is intent on getting Jason to be his brother and so he creates a whole plan to get him and Jason close enough to be friends then eventually brothers. Roy makes an amazing appearance and ooh... what's going on with Damian over there... hmm...

cards on the table - wesslan This... oh boy, this. *takes deep breath* I LOVE THE TROPES AND THE CHARACTERIZATION AND ITS SUCH AN ADVENTURE!! PERFECT BALANCE OF FLUFF (not fluff per se, but cute moments) AND ANGST!! Tim is a fortune teller who scams Gotham's elite society to make a living. But then the fortunes turn and he finds himself facing the whole family of Bats the Waynes who keep roping him into bonding sessions.

Batfam Band AU

Here's what I like to think all the Batfamily members (the kids) listen to

Dick Grayson - I think he listens to a lot of Folk/Country music because it was the type of music they played while traveling in the circus. Though, I would like to also think that growing up, he would listen to a lot of Radio Pop to assimilate

Jason Todd - my boy is a theater kid, but I feel like he would also listen to a lot of oldies music, 70s/80s hits, because that's what Cathrine would play around the house. I also think that a lot of his bonding with Dick came from a sharing music tastes together, so he does appreciate Folk and Country music. I also think that Jason will listen to any music anyone puts on and he'll enjoy it. Like, he's not picky, and he's allowed Aux because he knows what type of music everyone likes.

Tim Drake - Indie music. Timbers is a skater boi with depression and anxiety. If he's playing music for other people, like in a car, it'll probably be stuff like The Arctic Monkeys, and the Neighborhood, but if he's alone he's definitely staring at a wall listening to Boygenius, Lizzy McAlpine, and Conan Gray (But he is so Guts, by Olivia Rodrigo coded)

Cass - Rock/Heavy metal, or classical music. there is no in between and I feel like i don't need to explain myself

Stephanie - I feel like her music taste is really similar to Tims, but she's more open about listening to Lizzy McAlpine, Phoebe Bridgers, and she probably listens to Lana Del Ray.

Duke - R&B. I'm pretty sure that's the general fandom consensus. Steve Lacy, The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, ect. He'll be singing "Die for You" and Bruce immedietely bans the song because Duke is currently the only child to not have died.

Damian - he says he listens to Classical music, but he's really listening to the Steven Universe soundtrack through his earbuds. The only person who knows this is Jason, and then Jason gets him into musical soundtracks.

They all will belt Taylor Swift anytime any day. Especially to bug Bruce

went like a not insignificant distance into your blog because I can feel the batfamily consuming me and eating my heart and so on. haven’t ever read or watched or played batman however. as I trust your opinions Where do you suggest I start

omg welcome. i have recently been afflicted with something similar so i do have recs!! in terms of canon — which i will say i have middling opinions about, and i'll admit that i haven't really read any comics older than the 90s — i'll recommend the comics that really got me In Trouble: Batman: The Knight (2021). 10 issues by Chip Zdarsky and Carmine Di Giandomenico. this remains my batman holy grail. it's about bruce's journey to becoming batman and focuses on pivotal experiences in his education. it also features my favorite hot sexy murderous ex husband, minhkhoa khan. also, and most importantly, has some of the best written bruce and alfred interactions that i've read.

Nightwing (2016) #78—. by Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo. idk this was one of the first ones i read and i just really enjoy the punchy art and the action and the dialogue. from my understanding from #78 onward, the issues are trying to maybe breathe more life and color into nightwing's stories, and for me it works. it's just super fun and cute and i love dick grayson.

Dark Knights of Steel (2021). another Tom Taylor, this time with Yasmin Putri. idk if you told me a year ago that i would be into reading a DC fantasy AU where superman is a prince and batman is his loyal guard i would have laughed in your face. but it's really very fun and the art is excellent. i have quibbles about the worldbuilding, but the robins make it worth it. the robins feature and they are delightful. excellent brainworm material overall. it's still ongoing and i'm not sure how many issues are planned.

Batman/Superman: World's Finest (2022). this one's by Mark Waid and !!! Dan Mora (whose art i cannot stress enough makes me cry) and it's set to be 10 issues, there's one more coming in december. it's got great sort of vintagey vibes and is just really really fun, featuring dick grayson robin who i would run into a burning building for.

for batman proper i'll say i've been kind of cherrypicking issues to read, but i read a good long run of Batman (2016) starting with #102 because, you guessed it, it's the introduction of minhkhoa khan, aka the ghost-maker. i also enjoyed the Fear State saga (#112-117), but most recently i've been very into the recent issues by Chip Zdarsky and Jorge Jimenez starting with #125, which sets up a conflict between batman and failsafe—an AI bruce himself created in case he ever needed to be taken down. so far the failsafe saga has given me:

bruce badly beaten and bleeding <3

the whole family banding together to try to stop failsafe

batman zur-en-arrh, which is like, if batman fell into a bucket of colorful paint

so, so many tim drake feelings

just to name a few.

PHEW so for non-comic media, i recommend:

Batman: Wayne Family Adventures. a webcomic from Webtoon by CRC Payne and Starbite. new episodes every week and they're FREE and they focus on slice-of-life family stuff and some character-centric episodes, which is all i've ever wanted really. this was the first batman thing i read, which kicked me off into looking into canon more, resulting in this hilarious set of messages to my friend spanning probably no more than a few hours:

for movies, i don't tend to vibe with the characterization of bruce (and damian. and dick. and talia..) but i enjoyed Batman: Bad Blood (2016) and Batman: Under the Red Hood (2010). also Please Watch The Lego Batman Movie. seriously it's really good and fun

for video games, i've only played Batman: Arkham Knight (2015) out of the legendary series of games by Rocksteady. but man is it A Game (admiring). i also do have a lot of fun playing Gotham Knights (2022) because it's focused on the kids in the batfamily, but i will admit that it sure is A Game (derogatory).

jesus this is getting long. in terms of fic, i would probably have to make a separate post for all of the fic that's lit my brain on fire but you can check out my fic rec tag here on tumbo and my public bookmarks on AO3 for some of my favorites. i also highly endorse all of the fics in @vinelark 's batfam fic rec thread on twitter.

The Batman Au: Riddler’s Reform

Chapter: 3 Down below and Oh no?!

warning for slight language

Edward regretted being down in the sewers wondering how Killer Croc or any other villain, was able to go through here, especially with the awful smell of the sewer with who knows what’s in it as he navigated his way around it walking where he believed was North and just as he was about to make a turn that he heard the echo of a sewer lid crashing into the ground with a great big splash that was coming from the east hearing familiar groans it was Joker! and Penguin! They were now in the sewer! with him! but how?! NNNOOO NO NO CRAP NOT AGAIN! Edward was now running on instinct (I can hear the echoes of their footsteps and splashing!) he thought knowing that they must have heard his splashing as he kept running ahead of them hoping they must be tired out by now cause he couldn't think of anything else right now! He kept running feeling as if his lungs and legs must be on fire! But kept running until Edward found himself slipping and the next thing he knew he was in the sewer water splashing as he wrangled out of the icky water 'First garbage now this!?' He thought frustrated but had no time to gloat about being grossed out the footsteps were approaching faster he quickly got to his feet and kept running until he stopped at a corner and noticed pipelines above maybe..?

It was another chance he was willing to take as he used as much little strength and energy he had left in him Edward hoisted himself up above the ground hoping the shadows would keep him hidden as Penguin and Joker halted to a stop to figure out which way as Oswald argued "I Swear I heard footsteps coming this way I know Nygma's down here!" he went on as Edward has felt his grip beginning to slip as he desperately held on while struggling to hold his breath praying that they leave "come on, you two damn imbeciles just leave! Leave already!' just as he felt he couldn’t hold his breath any longer more footsteps were heard rushing toward the direction Joker and Penguin were interrupting their arguing as what was behind them their eyes widening in panic and annoyance as they started running past the tunnel Edward was hiding unaware of his presence as Batman was already hot on their tails with Batgirl and the Robins (Dick and Jason) running behind him.

When he released his breath the 2nd Robin suddenly stopped a minute noticing Edward as he got down, how was he aware of his presence? Edward panicked worried the sidekick would alarm his presence but to a surprise he didn't, as the young one just gave him a gentle smile and put a finger to his lips in the form of quiet seeming to understand his situation. Edward felt he could trust the little one as he mouthed a quiet 'thank you' to him and the littlest Robin gave him a thumbs up as a no problem he quickly ran to catch up with the Bats and other Robin making Edward sign in relief as he continued in the other direction having a feeling that he was safe as he continued walking he couldn't help but mouth the words 'riddle me this riddle me that I couldn't be more happier to see the big black bat and his little band of robins’ okay that last part wasn't a riddle but you get his point.

“Well Riddler, decided to take the scenic route through the Gotham City sewer system?” asked Batgirl cheekily who knew that despite the dangerous situation couldn’t help but say that. Batgirl knew that Riddler was in serious danger, especially with a certain clown Prince of crime and a smaller fat crime boss with bird-like proportions now after him. “Yeah… like, isn’t this Killer Croc’s turf?” asked (Dick) Robin who could hear both Joker and Penguin bickering just a wee bit further away. Anticipating a skirmish, Robin readied his yellow lightweight staff. “OOHHH Isn’t this just cute!! The entire Batfamily is here, it’s a rather nasty spot to gather!!! AHahahaha!!!” cackled the Joker as his metal playing cards could be seen in his hands, he and the Penguin started walking towards the heroes. “All of you, stay behind me! When I say go, run to the first latter to the surface. I programmed the Batmobile to meet us up on the surface” said Batman softly, only for the members of his team team to be able to hear.

“WAAA!! Stay outta the way Batjerk! But unless you want to have a taste of revenge too, then I suggest you STAY OUTTA MY WAY!!!!!!” said Penguin as he began running towards the Bat Fam with the tip of his umbrella scraping the cement floor of the sewer. As quickly as possible, Batman activated special sunglass-like lenses to protect his eyes before throwing a batterang that emitted an extremely bright light. “MOVE” shouted Batman his team moved running from the area he noticed Edward in the direction of where they were running looking like he was ready to pass out from exhaustion with quick reflexes he quickly scooped Edward up bridal style as they ran causing Edward to let out a squeak in surprise who was not expecting that! as Bats hurried his teammates and the Riddler away from the two supervillains and up the latter towards the surface. Using every precious moment. Batman hurried everyone towards the Batmobile and got them in quickly, while the Penguin and Joker were struggling to recover.

“The Joker and Penguin won’t find us, we’ll get you to safety Riddler,” said Batman who had sped away from the area and was making his way back to the Batcave. Riddler was in the back seat with Batgirl and Robin No. 2 on her lap having to make room in the backseat, Robin No. 1 was riding up front. Batman knew the only place in all of Gotham City to keep the Riddler (his..secret lover…?maybe..?his mind was so confused..right now he had to focus on the situation right now) safe was the Batcave as it was safe and hidden as the vaults of Fort Knox.

“Alfred, we’re on our way back. Also, we’ve got a guest in tow” said Batman on the Batwave communicator; he could tell that Batman was going to be surprised at who they were taking back with them. About 20 minutes later, the Batmobile disappeared through one of the many secret entrances that were around the city. Now beneath the streets, the Batmobile was driving along the hidden underground tunnel and was soon back in the Batcave, with a patient Alfred waiting. Though Edward was grateful he was a bit shocked and silent by the whole ordeal happening so fast there was one thing though he had to get to his cousin's "Thank you Batman and young ones but I have to get back out and make my way to my cousin's she's probably beyond worried sick by now." He said shyly knowing his cousin was going to have a good scolding with him by the time he got there.

That's when Alfred came in while wearing a face mask to cover his identity as well in Nygma's presence "Not to worry Mr. Nygma we will assemble a taxi for you but I'm afraid that we'll have to put a blindfold on you as we don't want any risks." which Edward understood as he helped him get out of the batmobile and gently place a blindfold over his eyes as Alfred helped escort him out of the cave before he was blinded by darkness Edward softly looked at the family his big ice blue eyes giving a grateful "thank you," as he was gently walked/guided out to one of the hidden open areas far from the caves where a taxi was called and would be waiting for them.

I'm truly sorry for people who waiting an update for mu Steph fics, I'm sorry but I just can't bring myself to write anything Batman related after Gotham War. What they did in that arc was purely awful and I can't get over my hate for it since months.

So this is why I can't write anything about Stephanie even though I love her so much, but I swear I'll try my best to do something about it.

Also I don't like how I characterize some of the characters and I can't feel like they're in-character.

So yeah, hoping for motivation.

No one seemed to like it including myself so this will probably be discontinued.

Plus, I started to lose my interest in Scriddler ship.
