Tumblr media
I haven't done one of these in a while. With the flood and various fuckery going on, there's really been no time for Tumblr. I mean, no proper time. No sit down, blog, and write time. But here, I suppose there is. I was asked to share if I had something, so here is something I'm re-working on since my hiatus. A snippet from Chapter 3 of my Young! Ranger Sam Coe x Reader fic --- soon to be renamed.
summary: just a father and son catching up + Sam remembering his momma
tagging: anybody who sees this and hasn't participated yet (since I've seen most already)
Tumblr media
Sam pushed the door open, leading with his palm against the wood as he welcomed himself inside. Six years. Nothing new. Dust swirled in the dim-light of the living room. Photographs of happier times sat on shelves caked in thin layers of grime. His mother’s vine plants -- Baby Tears --- cascaded down like spotted green waterfalls from the ceiling into the walls of the dining area.
The trance of memory overwhelmed him. His breathing slowed.
His mother stepped out of the house and his father busied himself in his office, leaving Sam practically home alone. He was about as tall as the counter tops in the kitchen and he liked to grab anything he could, just because he could. Little rebel. He'd grabbed some rocks off a book stand. Played pretend on the floor of his bedroom, when a voice echoed faintly, like the call of a ghost. Sam paid no mind. The voice boomed louder than before.
Sam. Sammy!
His heart leapt. He knew that voice. It traveled from the deck into his room, into his ears, once more. Abandoning his geo-rocks right then and there, he rushed to her. Curiosity and eagerness carried his little legs across the living room as he tumbled outside. The sunlight blinded him immediately, but painted his mother in a golden shadow. Her hand was smooth and warm, like beach sand, as she gently took his own and shared her pride, pointing to the potted plants. He remembers peering up at her. His little eyes wide in awe as she spoke their names. He could hear her now. How the words rolled off perfectly, as if she'd practiced over and over on her way home. Pilea Depressa, she told him. Otherwise known as, Baby Tears, from Old Earth.
As far as Sam was concerned, the planet and the Coe Estate were one in the same. Both lived with color. With life. Once.
Black coffee and eggs permeated his nostrils. Some routines never died. Sam’s nose scrunched as he shut the door.
“Hello?” His voice rang out.
A figure dressed in official’s wear emerged from the kitchen holding a bowl of yellow bits. The man’s eyes were wide, as if he’d been up for hours, expectant. “Sam Coe,” He paused. A sudden chill whipped through the room. “You didn’t knock?”
“I did. No answer.” He traversed towards the table without so much as a glance to the other and settled Cora into her high chair. From out of the corner of his eye, Jacob loomed. Weren’t his eggs getting cold just standing there?
“Keeping your boots on?”
Sam bobbed his head, sternly. “Can’t stay long,” he added, “They’re clean. I ain’t gonna mud up your floors.”
“Rangers more important than having breakfast with your family, huh? Don’t gotta tell me twice.” Jacob disappeared into the kitchen. leaving Sam in an air that was clogged and stuffy. He felt as though he were on the cusp of a cold.
God damn. It was too early.

Reunion
(Master list, Previous ch, Next ch)
I sit in the backseat of the Impala, the wind blowing from the open window, messing up my hair and the book I have in my lap. My spell book. I look down at the hard brown book, only minutes ago did I have a small fight with Dean about what to do with it but even now the urge to do something itches at my bones.
With a small huff I open my bag pulling out a pen before flipping open to the page, on the top left corner I write “April 2005–bags did not work on a house haunted with a poltergeist.” The small warning did nothing to ease me but it would have to do for now, because to rip the page would be to destroy a piece of my mother and a piece of myself.
Dean was right, I'm not afraid to admit that, I am afraid to admit, however, that I acted harshly to his remarks. I knew I shouldn’t have reacted like that, I knew it even in the moment but the words left me too quickly for any rationale to hit me. I felt bad, it must have been hard for him to see his mom again and then there I was causing an argument to rub salt in a wound. Most of all I pity myself for getting like that, an awful anger festering in my gut.
"Hey, how 'bout we grab a bite and take a breather?" Dean suddenly speaks, breaking the silence of the car. I look up from my lap, where the book rested, I meet his eyes in the rear view mirror giving a small nod. I was hoping we would stop somewhere for a while so I could sneak away and visit someone. Sam agrees too so we drive on for a while.
I watch the view from my window the whole time, watching the trees and buildings go by when it suddenly becomes very familiar. I don’t know if it was on purpose or not but we pulled right up in front of my favorite diner, I always went there it had become a go-to very quickly. Different memories flash in my mind to the many times I went with my brother, friends, and even Dean. It’s then that I think it must have been on purpose but instead of happiness filling me it’s a sort of dred.
Even so nothing more is said as we exit the car, but just as I close the door behind me I say, “You guys go ahead, I'm not hungry.”
Dean gives me a confused look but it’s Sam that speaks up, “Do you want us to save you something?”
“No no it’s okay, thanks” I shake my head, clutching the strap of my bag to me. “Could you just text me whatever motel we’ll be staying at, in case I come back and you're not here”
“Where ‘you heading off to?” Dean asks, confusion and concern written in his eyes.
“Oh, I’m just gonna walk around” I half lie with a tight lipped smile to finish it off. Still Dean looks at me skeptically, which I suppose is completely fair, but he doesn't say anything about my blatant lie either. With a simple bye I walk away swiftly, feeling the burn of their gaze on me, only slowing down when I'm out of sight.
My feet guide me, the route so familiar I could do it blindfolded. I spent so many years in this town, and yet it all seems so foreign. It was like I was walking back in time directly toward my past, except nothing is exactly as I remembered it to be. I hate to admit it but I never thought I’d be doing this again.
At each crossroad I wait at, my heart feels like it’s being squeezed. A desperate sadness filling my lungs, how was it possible for something to be so familiar yet so foreign? It didn’t make sense. Yes time changes all things, and yet I think I expected it to still be the same like it couldn’t possibly change because this is where I grew up. Maybe it was because I never thought of this place anymore, hadn’t needed too. My past died here and I moved on because it was the only thing left to do. I never came back, never visited, never wondered what my friends who I met here were doing.
It hurt too much to think of Kansas when out of all the wonderful memories only the worst ones stuck out, branding itself to this place I called home.
I slow to a stop in front of a flower shop, the same one I always went to. I enter the small establishment, the bell ringing as I open the door. The strong aroma of all sorts of flowers hitting my nose, I don’t need to look around to know exactly what I want. What I came for.
I walked up to the counter immediately noticing the owner wasn't behind it, I remembered she always was and she even refused to hire any workers because this was her store and she didn’t want any “hooligans” to ruin her work. I have to remind myself that it’s been years, not a week or a month but years since I’ve been here. She probably retired or…no. I won’t let myself think that.
I leave with my bouquet of forget me-nots and white roses, my moms two favorite flowers. I hold the assortment gently as I continue my long walk. My mother loved forget me-nots she would gush over the meaning and the many poems and analogies she had heard, she was a romantic so the meaning was never lost on her. I definitely got that from her.
Eventually I arrive at the cemetery, the large black gate creaking as I push it open. I carry on the path taking a couple twists and turns before arriving at the gravestones. It was unkempt with dead leaves covering it, the sight alone made me want to cry. I wipe away the leaves that lay on top of it, using my shirt to clear the dirt from her name not caring about it getting dirty. I sit criss-cross right in front of her, “Hi mommy” I smile sadly, tears already filling my eyes. “I brought you flowers” I lift them slightly in emphasis.
Feeling it to be too improper to just lie them down, I produce a glass vase filled with water. Carefully I take the plastic wrapping off the bouquet, freeing the flowers from their restraint before placing them in the vase just beside her grave stone.
I let out a heavy sigh, “I missed you…I’m sorry I haven’t visited you since I moved away”
“God.” I sigh, looking up to the blue sky, fluffy clouds scattered over it, trying to prevent the tears from falling.
“You know” I laugh sadly, looking back at her, “This whole time we were here I planned on seeing you and I thought of so many things i’d like to tell you about, but now.…” I breathe out. “I don’t know.”
“There’s hardly a day that goes by in which I don’t miss you, It’s gotten easier since, well, you know.”
“But being here.” My voice trembles, “I feel as if I could lose my mind to the grief, I thought I was past that. Past being so…lost. Alone?”
I laugh, tears falling from my eyes, “I could really use one of your hugs right now”
I wiped my face, my cheeks feeling stiff from the tears, “I met your friend Missouri, she’s great, I'm surprised you or dad never mentioned her before.”
“Um. I’m with the Winchesters right now, helping ‘em out” I tell her, trying to think of the positives right now instead of the squeezing of my heart.
I swallow down a sob, my throat feeling tight with emotion once more, “I know you’d like to hear all the good in my life but being here, I can’t— I just. I miss you”
“I don’t care if that’s redundant when it’s the truth, I just…I’m so lonely” A sob breaks through my lips, and the tears flow down my face rapidly only this time I don’t try and conceal it. “That sounds so horrible to say because I’m with people I love and care so deeply for, yet something feels wrong. Something is missing and I don't feel quite whole.”
More tears fall, my eyes blur with it. Her gravestone and the flowers turn into a gray, green, blue, and white mix. “Have you ever felt that way?” I ask her even though I know I won’t get a response.
I sit there in silence for a few moments not really knowing what to say or what to do. I don’t want to leave just yet because I don’t know when I’ll be back, and to leave would feel like turning my back on her all over again. I scoot the way I sit so that my back is resting on the side of her gravestone with my legs extended in front of me. I lean my head to the side to rest on the frigid stone.
“I figure I’d find you here” A deep familiar voice suddenly says. My eyes shoot up from my fingers, watching Dean's approaching figure, a cup of something in each hand. I swiftly sit up, wiping at my face quickly trying to remove any evidence that I'd been crying, “What are you doing here.”
“Well Sammy bailed on me for some beauty sleep after you left. Noticed you were off, especially when you skipped out on one of your favorite diners.
‘Figured you’d end up here.” He’s closer now only a few paces away, I stand up to meet him. I don’t understand why he came or how he even remembered where her grave would be, “No offense but why’d you come here?”
He shrugs all nonchalantly, “Didn’t want you to be alone.” It was sweet he was here but it almost felt awkward, like this was too private of a moment. “I can leave if you want” He offers, sensing my hesitance.
“No! no it’s okay, thank you for coming, that's really sweet of you.” I spill out quickly, leaving out the part that my mom wouldn’t mind him being here either.
He shrugs again, “You’d do the same for me.”
“Also, I brought you a milkshake for old time sake. Wasn’t sure what flavor you’d go for, but knowing how indecisive you are anyway I got you a vanilla chocolate mix thing.” He extendeds one of the blue paper cups towards me and I knew he got them from the diner.
I take the cup from him, the coolness immediately seeping into my hand, “You know me well” I smile looking down at the milkshake not being able to meet his eyes. Now sweet wasn’t even the right word to describe him, he brought us milkshakes because when we hung out we would almost always go to a diner and get them with fries or a whole meal depending.
“I told you I did” He responds, reminding me again of our previous “fight.”
I look back at my moms grave, the flowers I brought sitting in the vase somehow the scene feeling lighter now. “We can stay, drink these here, if you want.” He offers, again sensing what I’m thinking.
I turn my head back towards him, this time meeting his green eyes, “No it’s okay.” And it was, I knew my mom would want this. She would want me to walk away now when I was happier and with someone I loved—that romantic in her shining through again. He nods and we begin to walk away, I take a sip of the milkshake, “God that’s good” I smile and he laughs.
We walk silently mostly, “Sorry about before, with the spell book. You were right.”
He swings his free arm around my shoulder tugging me closer to his side, “Don’t worry about it, sweetheart.”

cas review of ttpd?
Ah yes! I am finally ready!
Cas's Review of TTPD that Two (2) People Asked For (so now you all get a fucking essay)
Literally, this is growing to be one of my favorite albums. Like...I appreciate Taylor most for her lyrics and I wrote down seven pages of them in my notebook of lyrics that fucking killed me. I feel like it's a more mature version of folklore, which is exactly what I was hoping for.
I really liked the promo for this album- the lyrics being spread, the phases of grief, the entire thing was so well-done. And the double album drop left me literally screaming.
I feel like the order of the songs on the album is also super well thought out. It really tells a story and I could feel her going through the phases, especially in the first half of the album.
I thought it was cool that she definitely took some risks in the album, but most of them landed 1000%. So many of the cool things done with the lyrics, melody, and tempo were amazing and kept me interested.
I'm gonna start by listing the more specific things I didn't like because there's only three:
In the song "Fresh Out The Slammer" during the outro, the change in beat was very jarring. I LOVED the rest of the song and it just ruined it for me
Florida!!! was...a choice. I get it. The concept of going away somewhere after a breakup to get over it is great. But Florida? Like...c'mon. Also "fuck me up Florida" made me cringe.
The line in "I Hate It Here" about racists...god, I have two minds about it. I don't think there was winning with that one, and I think people are going to tear her apart for it without taking it in context. Like when you take it in the bigger picture of the song, it makes sense. But when you take it in just the few lines...it feels a bit like it's trivializing the fact that literal slavery existed during that time? So yeah. I go back and forth...
And now a song ranking and my feelings about some of the songs:
Guilty As Sin? - This song has been in my head ever since I heard it. It's perfect, it's everything.
I Can Do It With a Broken Heart - This is giving DBATC (favorite taylor song) vibes and I am so in love. It destroyed me.
Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? - This is an ANTHEM. This will be screamed in the shower. This is so powerful.
But Daddy I Love Him - This was just so nostalgic. Like it gave Fearless Taylor and I loved it so much. Also the jumpscare fucking SHOOK me.
So Long, London - This was like a companion to You're Losing Me and god, it was amazingly hurtful.
loml - I just love slow, sad Taylor. and the twist at the end? ugh
I Hate It Here - Questionable line aside, this song was 15/10 relatable as a fanfic reader/writer
imgonnagetyouback - I feel like this will be a single.
The Prophecy - ouch
The Alchemy - Awww, so cute!
I Look In People's Windows
I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
The Albatross
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived - god she CAME for this man.
The Black Dog
Down Bad - I also feel like this will be a single
Fresh Out the Slammer
How Did It End?
My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys
TTPD
Cassandra - hahahaha whoops, we're coming for Kim again?
thanK you aIMee - and again? that line about her mom was AMAZING
So High School - adorable
Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus
Fortnight - she and Post Malone work so well together
The Bolter
The Manuscript
Peter
Robin
Clara Bow
Florida!!
What do you all think?

Alright. No art. Just positive rant. The entire point of my redesigns was me being slightly annoyed at the designs and story of Seduce Me and having way too much positive nostalgia to be normal about this game. I love-hate this game. However! The one thing I will never, never shit talk Seduce Me for is its characters. The main six love interests (Yes I am counting Diana as a main love interest. Thank Demon War for that) are all so well written! I genuinely love them. Even Sam, my least favorite character, isn’t boring. I don’t dislike him for being a bad character, I dislike him because the tsundere trope annoys me.
But this isn’t a rant about the characters as a whole. This is a rant about Damien. Let me rave for a second. Because as melodramatic as his backstory is, it got me hook, line and sinker. I am convinced that either Michaela had a period of being obsessed with Damien or some redheaded fuck boy named Damien pissed her off so much that she made him into a character just to make him suffer. This boy is tragic!
Like b r o, all the other boys’ backstories can be summed up with “The palace life is boring, my dad is kinda shitty and I got one other, reoccurring, minor inconvenience” and then there’s Damien being like- “My mom suffered as my dad’s harem girl until she couldn’t take it anymore and tried to murder me before killing herself. Also my dad is extra shitty to me. He tried to kill me a few times. Food? That’s a luxury. Energy? I’m used to not having it. A room? What is that? Please let me become human because mind reading kinda sucks, oh wait, I only got a 1 out of 6 shot for that ending. And I’m not even the canon ending!”
And another thing! Matthew’s main bad ending has traumatized me for multiple reasons but that line, “That’s what you get for making me go to the human world” after he kills Damien! Now, Matthew is a favorite of mine, but in that moment, I wanted to shake that little bitch until his soul evacuated his body! Like, I don’t care that he was being controlled, how d a r e he come firing shots at Damien when all he wanted was a good life away from his abusive ass dad!? Bro Damien may have been the illegitimate child but at that moment Matthew was the bastard.
Tragic…
On a different, lighter note, I do love the sort of contrast between him and Matthew, at least on the topic of “naivety”. Of the two, you expect the fun loving, goofball to be the naive, kind of innocent one. But that’s not the case. Matthew is optimistic, Damien is innocent. Matthew knows what he wants and while the world is a wonder to him, he goes about the world with this sort of maturity, knowing what he wants to see and when. Damien is more of the spacey type. There is this level of inexperience to how he grasps the world as if he can’t even believe that it can exist. Plus, as much as he has an idea of what he wants to see, sometimes he feels like he must ask permission. Like in the New Years Episode where if you go on Damien’s route, he asks “Can we do this every year?”.
In conclusion, I want to wrap Damien into a blanket burrito and tell him that everything is going to be okay. And then take him to therapy because this man probably has C-PTSD. As my friends would say, I am mentally ill for this demon equivalent of a sad, wet dog.

I usually have a book club to attend on Thursday nights, but tonight I did not. And so, I used that time to instead compile some more of Small Child’s Thoughts and present you with a Triple Feature! Now you are all caught up on his thoughts. Two more chapters of The Two Towers left, and then it’s on to The Return of the King!
Small Child’s Thoughts on “The Forbidden Pool”
I wish Faramir just wouldn’t have woken Frodo up. That guy needs sleep.
Ooh, that’s just Gollum. Sam will not be happy about that.
Why is Faramir asking if that’s a bird? He knows it’s not a bird. I don’t like when people ask questions when they already know the answer.
That’s gross. I don’t like eating fish. But I really wouldn’t like fish if they weren’t cooked.
Um, no, Frodo should not say they can shoot him because he has stuff to do.
Gollum is not listening. That’s not a good idea.
Well, that’s just going to make Gollum angry. I would be angry too. I don’t like it when people make me go where I don’t want to go.
He has a name! Why is he saying he doesn’t have a name?
I don’t know why they are saying they are going to kill Gollum.
Hey Mom? (Yes, Small Child?) I don’t really like Faramir. (Oh, that makes me sad! Why don’t you like him?) He just talks too much about things I think are not important.
“Journey to the Cross-Roads”
He had no thoughts about this chapter other than “too much scenery.”
“The Stairs of Cirith Ungol”
That Ring is so bad, so, so bad.
I know what “illuminated” means, and this book said something that doesn’t make sense. A light always illuminates something because that’s what light does!
I bet those flowers smell like the fish trees. You say those are bad trees.
Frodo should just not go there. That is a bad place.
Woah! That Ring is bad! I didn’t know it could move like that.
That is just one tired guy.
Aw, poor, poor Frodo. He’s just trying his very best even though he is so tired.
You are reading a lot of words about screaming and lights and thunder and I just do not know what any of this means.
The Black Riders are back and that’s bad. Is that guy going to stab Frodo again? Oh, I am really glad Frodo isn’t getting stabbed. He’s been stabbed a lot.
The book says “almost forgotten,” but it wasn’t almost for me. I did just really forget about that thing from Galadriel.
I think probably Faramir will just be dead soon.
Gollum needs to let them rest a long time, because their legs are tired and probably they are hurting really bad.
I know that tunnel they have to go through is not a train tunnel with track going through it. But I think that would be a good thing to put in this story. I like it when stories have trains and this one doesn’t have them.
I think Sam should not be so rude. I just think he knew they would have to be sneaky even if Gollum didn’t say it.
I don’t think people or hobbits or anything wants to go where Frodo and Sam are. I don’t want to. I like to stay at home and eat bread.
Is the silmaril from that book you have that is called “The Silmarillion?” Can you read me that one when we finish the last book? (I’d love to read it to you someday, Small Child, but you may need to be just a little older before you’ll like that one.) Is it an old people book? (Maybe.) You’re just very old, so I guess that’s why you like it, probably.
The great tales never end like the biggest story never ends, right? Like God’s story isn’t over yet.
This story is one of your favorite stories! (It is! Is it one of yours?) No.
Gollum is not good in this tale. He just wants to get the Ring back, right? Even though it is not good for him.
I just don’t know why Gollum is angry that Sam said he was sneaking. Because he was sneaking.
See? Gollum says he was sneaking, so he can’t be mad.
It can’t be tomorrow if they are talking about it. For them it is just today. Because it’s always just today if that’s the time you’re in. It is just NOT tomorrow. It’s today!

hi there! i read your grilled cheese and juice fics and i absolutely loved them!!! i was wondering, if you’re okay with it, maybe you could write some more? i am in love with little steve and reader <3 maybe bucky has to go on a mission and they’re both big at the time but once he’s gone for a little bit steve starts to go little and get really sad. and maybe reader tries to make him feel better but starts regressing as well and they make themselves cereal and juice and they cuddle each other a lot for comfort. i’m thinking maybe steve sits on y/n’s lap and start crying into her (their?) shoulder and lost of angst but maybe all they like to get up to while buckys gone then when he comes back? i’m very sorry that’s a lot, but i’m also thinking steve’s still insecure as maybe it’s when it’s still early becoming part of them? but lost of cuddles and kisses thrown in with the angst? angsty fluff? really sorry and you’re amazing and i love you. i live inside your blog atm hehe :)

“Bubs?” Bucky called out, hoping the sound would reach at least one of his little’s ears. Seconds later he heard some shuffling from upstairs and eventually heard the two of them decent down the stairs.
“Yah Buck?” Steve asked, the name ‘Buck’ being a clear sign he was big.
“Sam called, I need to go on a last minute mission so you two are on your own for dinner.” He said, placing his bags at the door and making sure his keys were in his pocket. “Are you two going to be able to handle that? Or should I call Nat to come over while I’m gone?”
Y/n and Steve looked at each other. “We will be fine Buck.” Y/n stated. “It’s only one night, Nat doesn’t need to come by.”
Bucky smiled, Y/n spoke so perfectly when big, he felt proud for some reason. “Okay, but promise to cal her if anything happens okay?”
“Buck stop worrying, we are fine.” Steve laughed, wrapping his one arm around Y/n’s shoulders.
Bucky nodded, walking up to the two and engulfing them in one big hug. Steve and Y/n gladly accepting and tightening their grasp. Then Bucky left, leaving the two others in the houses front entrance, the two of them feeling excited to have the house to themselves.
“I have some reports to finish up, but do you maybe want to watch a movie later?” Steve asked Y/n as he began walking towards the home office.
“Sure! The dinosaur documentary series finally came out, wanna start that?” Y/n called back, getting a simple ‘yes’ in return. The two of them going their own ways for the time being.
- - - - - -
Steve sat in his office chair, his desk the newest addition to the room, bare of decorations. The desk had a computer and lamp, a few files here and there and his own filing cabinet beside it, but it felt out of place. Y/n’s desk had a few picture frames, one with their family, and two of Bucky, they also had at least 4 plants scattered around the desk, as well as on the shelf above it, something they had picked out when their desk was added.
Steve then looked at Bucky’s desk, his the most lived in as this was his house before anyone moved in. His desk was large and very dark wood, his computer black and pen holder a dark chrome. The set up seemed slightly mismatched but also worked somehow. What really stood out though were the frames along the wall, many old photos of his family, his mom, his sister, some family portraits. Then there were more recent ones, a few of him and Sam and a bunch with him and Y/n. But as Steve continued to look at all of the photos he noticed he wasn’t in any.
Steve took a step back from Bucky’s desk and sighed, slight anger running though him. He felt left out, again. Him and Bucky used to be best friends and yet now he felt overlooked. You wouldn’t be able to tell Bucky knew Steve if you went off the pictures in his office. It was if he had everyone important hung on his wall, but Steve.
Y/n on the other hand was sat on the sofa, a book in hand, reading in the subtle light being cast through the window. They were enjoying the silence, something they didn’t get much of, when Steve came into the room. “Hey! You ready to watch the documentary?” Y/n asked, putting their book on the coffee table and waiting for a response.
“‘m no.” Steve said, avoiding eye contact as he played with his fingers, trying to stay as big as possible.
“You okay Stevie?” Y/n asked. Steve quietly panicked, he always felt small when people called him ‘Stevie’, and it certainly wasn’t helping his case at the moment. “Stevie?” Y/n asked again, becoming worried about his demeanour.
Steve just shook his head. Tears flowing down his face as his feeling and little space finally hit him. “No one wants me.” He sobbed as Y/n walked over, engulfing him in their arms to provide some sort of comfort. “Ebrybody is ebrywhere, jus’ not me.” He whispered into Y/n’s shoulder, his whole body shaking as the sobs made their way through his body.
“Let’s sit down Stevie.” Y/n calmly said, keeping their voice soft and sweet so Steve felt comforted. “Here.” They passed him their water cup, letting him take a sip.
“He, he lobs you more.” Steve sighed as he got comfy on the couch. “Do you eben lob me?” He cried, his eyes now meeting Y/n’s.
“Of course I love you Stevie!” They exclaimed, tears begging to fill their own eyes, devastated that he didn’t know how they felt. Y/n loved Steve, he was their best friend, their brother. They loved colouring with him and didn’t know what they would do without him. “Bucky loves you too, I promise. He was so excited when you decided to stay here, he felt so happy that he had his Stevie back.” Y/n mentioned, grabbing some blankets from the back of the couch to tuck Steve in, propping up his body with a few pillows and grabbing a stuffy from the basket across the room. “I love you too, I wouln’t want to colour with anyone else, and you make a perfect pillow.” The two of them giggled at that. “Sometimes I think he loves you more, because you were his first.” Y/n admitted, sitting on the coffee table in front of Steve.
“But he habs all your pictures ebrywhere.” Steve argued, a silly pout on his face.
“Mhm, but your picture is tucked in his wallet, theres one in his coat pocket, his office desk, he has a picture of you in his night table, they are everywhere.” Y/n mentioned, standing up and crossing their arms. “He just thought you would be weirded out if you came here and your pictures were everywhere.”
Steve sat in silence, he didn’t even think of it like that. He was mad that he couldn’t been see on the walls, displayed so proudly like Y/n is. “So he does lob me.” Steve cried, his head snuggling further into the blankets draped over him.
Y/n was still stood in front of him, trying not to cry, and trying not slip, they needed to take care of Steve, Bucky wasn’t here, so It was Y/n’s responsibility to step up. “Maybe I should call Aunty Nat.” Y/n said, their brain slowly slipping into little space. “I don’ know da number.” Y/n whispered, looking at Steve for help, Y/n’s mind officially slipping into little space.
“I dunno.” Steve sniffled, whipping a few tears from his eyes. “Wanna watch some cartoons?” He asked, his voice slightly more peppy now, his own demeanour changing as Y/n slipped, almost like he knew his little friend was there to play too.
“Sure, but ‘m hungry.” Y/n murmured, flopping onto the couch next to Steve, waiting for his response.
“Me too, maybe Daddy left some snacks.” He mentioned, his head nodding towards the kitchen.
“Otay, I check, you stay comfy Stevie.” Y/n said, tucking Steve in even more, trying their best to provide some comfort. Y?n walked towards the kitchen, checking the snack cupboard and then the kitchen island, common places Bucky would leave pre-made snacks. “Uh, Daddy left us nofin.” Y/n said sassily, shocked that their Daddy could leave without making sure his babies had some food. Maybe forgetting that he had left in a hurry … And that both Steve and Y/n promised they would be okay alone.
“Cheerios?” Steve asked, his voice quiet because of the distant, but the desperation in his voice was still evident.
“Yep!” Y/n called back. Grabbing the entire box of Cheerios and running towards the living room. Hopping back on the couch and burrowing themself under the blankets, now sat beside Steve. “Otay, here.” Y/n said, opening the box and pulling out a handful of the honey covered loops and putting them next to Steve’s mouth.
He complied, eating out of Y/n’s hand, something that often happened, why? Because Y/n liked feeling helpful, and Stevie like to be babied sometimes. “Tanks.” He whispered, going in for a second mouthful. The tv playing cartoons in the background as Y/n took turns feeding themself and then Steve.
- - - - - -
Bucky got home late, his bags dropped at the front door as he began taking off his gear. The lights were still on so he knew the two littles got up to something while he was away. What he didn’t expect to find was the two of them curled up on the couch, Steve’s head laid in Y/n’s lap, their hand weaved through his short locks, the two of them deep in sleep.
The tv had turned off, a setting Bucky set up a while ago, making sure the Tv would turn off at 10pm so everyone could get a good night sleep screen free. He was a single dad, he did what he had to okay.
Bucky smiled, the two loves of his life so contently getting along. Though his smile soon faded when he saw a box of Cheerios laid on the floor, and a substantial amount of Cheerios scattered around not only the couch, but also the floor. He assumed a long and dramatic excuse would be concocted by the two sleeping beauties in the morning, and of course he would let them get away with it.
“Knew I should have called Nat.” He whispered as he walked from the living room back towards the front hall, getting ready to unpack his things and then get on the couch and snuggle. He was content, he couldn’t have asked for a better and more fulfilling life.

(Billy Hargrove x fem¡OCMayfield)
Samantha Danielle Mayfield finally decides to move to Hawkins with her sister and mother, as well as her mother's new husband and his arrogant son, William "Billy" Hargrove. What they are unaware of is that, gradually, these step-siblings will discover that the line between contempt and passion is more fragile than they supposed, and what begins as shared hostility turns into an intense and undeniable attraction that both find themselves unable to reject.
warnings: read at your own risk, as it includes a continuous sexual environment, profanity, mention of death and suicide, stepsibling relationship, sex, and all its derivatives.

Chapter One: Shot Throught The Heart - Bon Jovi
Samantha Danielle Mayfield. Yes, Mayfield. She found the surname Hargrove detestable.
Ever since that fateful day when Neil Hargrove took Susan from the arms of the two young girls' father, Samantha has been unable to forgive her mother. She chose to stay with her father indefinitely, firmly resolved not to see her mother's face again, or so she believed. Susan had "betrayed" the Mayfields, fracturing the relationship between Max and Samantha to the point of only allowing them sporadic encounters, plunging both sisters into deep sadness.
As the years passed, they got used to seeing each other only on weekends, and everything seemed to be going well. Until one day, a letter arrived at the Sam residence, which read:
"Hello Sammy,
I am writing to invite you to my wedding with Neil in a few months. We are very happy and wish to share our joy with you. Also, there are some things we need to discuss in person that you should know.
With love,
mom."
Samantha received the news with displeasure, but over time she understood that everyone is free to decide about their life and that she had to respect it, as nothing would change to please her wishes. So, swallowing her pride, she began the search for a dress for the occasion.
The ceremony went off without incident. Max and Sam were playing cards when Susan stealthily approached her eldest daughter and whispered the dreaded words:
"We need to talk."
Upon hearing her mother's prepared speech, Samantha burst into tears. She couldn't bear the idea of her mother taking Maxine away from her. Her sister was almost her best friend; separating them was an act of selfishness, wasn't it?
Samantha's reaction was intense. She screamed how great her hatred was for that family, capturing the attention of all those present and ruining part of the wedding. She insulted everyone for the last time and fled in search of a phone booth to call her father, who consoled her, equally affected, trying to convince her that it wouldn't be so bad, that they could keep in touch and visit occasionally.
After the incident, they decided to postpone the move for another year, until early 1984, due to the girl's immature behavior and the deterioration of her father's health, whose lung cancer was advancing inexorably. Months later, at the end of 1984, the girls' father died, unable to fight the cancer that rapidly consumed his weakened body, leaving a huge void in both, but especially in Samantha. She decided not to inform anyone, except her sister through a letter that would arrive a month later, which meant that Samantha lived alone during that time, surviving with difficulty.
The news devastated Maxine, who informed her mother. Susan, very worried, called Samantha repeatedly, not knowing that her daughter had escaped. She called all the authorities in California to find her daughter.
Samantha distanced herself from everything and everyone. She left behind friends and family, taking with her only a letter from Max, some clothes, and the little money she had left. Just the day before Christmas, guided by the offers at the bus stations and the address in Maxine's letter, Sam decided to go to Hawkins, Indiana. Her arrival on December 24, '84, was a Christmas gift for her distressed mother, who interrupted her prayers upon hearing the doorbell. Seeing the familiar face, Susan burst into tears, hugging her daughter tightly and shouting for joy. The commotion attracted everyone present, who ran to witness the emotional reunion between the two redheads and the brunette at the door.
═══════ .˚♡˚. ════════
Six months had passed since the death of their father, and five since her arrival in Hawkins.
Samantha had settled just in time for the start of the second academic term. Despite the widespread interest in befriending her, she only forged ties with a select and quite different group, as most did not pique her interest. Among her new friends was the one she liked best, Keith, the affable young man in charge of the game room, the Arcade, who offered her employment during the school year upon seeing her go there so often, forging a solid friendship based on common interests; two ruby-haired girls, Vicki and Nicole, with whom she shared lunch in the cafeteria and moments of hidden cigarettes under the staircase; and the charming Nancy Wheeler, who became a great ally during Sam's first days of adaptation. Obviously, in the best position was her little sister, Maxine, whom she sneaked into the Arcade and would give everything for. Despite all this, Danielle was quite flirtatious, so she liked to attract the attention of boys, flirt and play with their feelings when she went out at night with Vicki and Nicole. On the other hand, there were people that the brunette couldn't stand, the most notable being her stepbrother, Billy, and his close circle, except for the two redheads mentioned earlier. Exhausted by his arrogant attitude, the girl promised herself that one day she would punch that stupid face. The animosity was mutual. Even when Neil, her stepfather, forced Billy to take the sisters home and bring them from the institute, he occasionally "forgot" his duty, leaving them stranded there, returning on foot. To top it off, the intensity of their two characters caused constant altercations at home, always ending with Neil hitting and scolding Billy or yelling and blaming Susan for the behavior of his eldest daughter, which caused even worse behavior on the part of the eldest, who couldn't stand her mother, but after all, she was the one who had brought her into the world, so she didn't quite like the idea of someone raising their voice to her progenitor.

We saw who were the people at the funeral. No question about T holding his son than C holding him with T next to her. We saw C and her younger brother sitting together in the same row with their mom and sisters. No son in law with them. All of them were in the second row. But, OL shippers have crossed the line of decency and sanity a long time ago to still be shocked by the lies they tell their followers. They are psychotic.
Anonymous asked:
I have some questions about the funeral pics. I haven't seen the footage myself but Ive heard that Tony was there holding the baby. Was he there with the baby? If so, wouldn't the baby want to reach for his real parents ?
odessa-2
Please refer to my previous recent post of Kevin v Sam pics. Tony was not holding a baby. In fact I do not think he was present at all. He was subsequently photoshopped into that train wreck of a photoshop 'funeral pap shot'. Kevin was the black masked bandit holding a baby. They cleverly played some musical chairs in the church in an attempt to bamboozle. It only worked on some.
They had to quickly come up with a game plan for Mr Balfe's sudden and unexpected demise and the panicked foray resulted in the ultimate revelation of the truth. We got the proof we were all finally looking for under very unfortunate and tragic circumstances.
As for the baby and to who he belonged to. I feel that it's irrelevant at this point. Sam was clearly in attendance not only merely attending his 'costar's' father's funeral, but sitting right next to her, embracing her and and comforting her mother. Whether the baby was theirs and being held by uncle Kev, or whether it was a nephew of Cait's doesn't matter.
If you watched the stream carefully, it was evident that SC did turn around to face the baby and look at him. It was also clear that Sam was very familiar with another little boy who went up to the alter. So familiar in fact that when he turned his head sideways to show us his big ol forehead (purposely imo), we saw that he was authoritatively directing the young lad and instructing him what to do. That raised my antennae. Sam even stood up. We see you Captain .
It was such an explosion of truth and such a threat to their almost 10 year whopper of a lie some serious damage control was pencilled in. Hence why they dragged out McGoul for the 40 day memorial service and vanished Sammy boy.

i really don't like having t’s face on my blog. if you scroll down you will see that i am telling the truth. lately this has been happening because of the issues we have been talking about here, but never before. my blog is about sc.
sometimes, to talk about a truth (or a lie), we need photos to better explain the narrative. THIS IS THE POST! this explains so much, guys. as i said before, Sam Holand Heughan was there so comfortably. so we see that no lie lasts forever. we all already know the truth. some still don't want to see.
and about the paternity of these children? for god’s sake! i can't believe a narrative in which she is actually married to t and has a real child with him and cheats on him with s. that's crazy. INSANE.
the only truth i believe is: s is the father of one or more children. they are a couple. a family. and the truth about this family came out at a funeral. so sad. actually everything about this is so sad and has become increasingly sad for me. i think that's why people leave the fandom. i start to understand them. and YES, they know that we know. when will they stop?

Reblog for the truth!

Death has a sting, in this case TRUTH was revealed. Hope SC will stop lying. It causes destruction and more destruction. We do not wish it to them, that is why we warn them. STOP TRUTH SETS YOU FREE.

There was much discussion at the time about the blond child C is holding. I’m not saying that’s not her child, but this pic of the child on the right does look suspiciously similar. The baby on the right is William, Prince of Wales at at the same age, more or less.

Wigs that can be purchased off the internet. Sam was wearing a wig to hide the fact that he had recently gotten hair implants. The shortness of his hair is evidence that plugs were removed and inserted into the frontal crown of his skull. To have this procedure done, the person's hair must be nearly buzzed to the scalp. Sam wore the wig to disguise his recent procedure. The number receipt is the shape of Sam's large forehead. There's no doubt it is Sam Heughan next to Caitriona. As for those Las Vegas photos...it's called AI and/or latergrams. Remember, he's an actor...all the tools of the trade are at his disposal.

Was t at the funeral ?

Not from what I could see.

Agree!
I read blah blah blah rubbish blah blah blah. And it all sumps up in one thought: if they are able to manipulate and lie about stuff we are all are seeing happen live imagine the fanfic they've written over the years and share as canon that never took place.

Tae and gyu got to help Mrs sim and pack up everything.
Meanwhile Jake and you are left alone
He asks you what happened and you explain everything.
He then tells you about his experience - with the thing.
You make a mental note and then Mrs sim calls you to eat.
You eat and then leave with Jake . His mom packed his stuff for him. He gotta be with you until he makes progress and feels like before.
He seems a bit 'attached' to you.wants you to be with him. Asks to lay on your lap like a child.
Makes you wonder how it all happened. You think back to what the thing said when it was in control.
Envy
You reach the center where you work- your office.
Jake is assigned a room and a psychologist. He got another psychologist named yeji but he refuses to get treated if it wasn't you who was treating him. So you and to be assigned to him.
You tell him his schedule and the rules
Then head out to a park to take fresh air
You re-think about what happened till now.  you feel the air getting colder as you walked around the park. You suddenly feel a tug and see down to see an adorable child. He seemed surprised when you looked down at him. Like a deer caught in headlights. Cute. Your thought.
You asked him what happened and in return he asked you something too
"Can you see me? How?" He asked with big and curious eyes.
Then you realised that he wasn't alive but dead .
You explained him that you could see him because you were a medium.
He seemed exited to talk to you
 It made you happy that you could talk to him but sad to know that he does at such a young age.
You asked his name and he told you "sam "
"Ohh a cute name for a cute boy. My name is yn" you said.
He seemed shy and flustered. He asked if he could call you noona and you said yes.
There is a reason why souls are still lingering/lurking on earth. It means that their purpose is incompleted. And they can't go to the afterlife before completing it.
You remember your father's words
You decided not to ask him alot of questions as it might upset him.you'll ask him about how he died and stuff like that some other day.
For now you talked to him and played with him. You were in an abandoned park so you weren't scared of anyone seeing you. But guess you were wrong . Because someone saw you. His stare was quite intense. He was studying you. And That someone is a guy. Yep A guy amed Jay.

Loud House Moon Goats Christmas Vacation
Tumblr media
After nearly a full month of performing, the Moon Goats are ready to enjoy their Christmas Vacation. Gig after gig, they outdid themselves with awesome Christmas songs they'd written the previous month. It was the time of giving people a new experience in the season of giving, not to mention a rockin 'holiday experience.
At seven am on Christmas Eve, Luna and her band, the Moon Goats arrived at the Royal Woods Mall. They promised Luan, her friends Ruby and Shannon from the Theatre Club, and Leni to help out on Christmas errands at the last minute. Leni took Lily with her to babysit on Christmas Eve with the whole Loud Family making the decision to celebrate Christmas in their own separate ways.
"So your dad was crying all night because this is your first time spending Christmas without your family?" Mazzy asked.
"Yes, you have no idea how many years he wants us to celebrate the holiday." Luna answered.
"But you do realize we haven't come up with an idea of what we can do during Christmas, right?" Sully added.
"Hey, it's not our fault our dad told us to reschedule until our mom gave us the opportunity a couple days ago." Luan said.
"I had to give up on the best Christmas outfit, because our Dad constantly wants me to drop it all because it was getting old." Leni groaned. "I just wanted to be in the Christmas spirit."
"Jeez, talking about sticking to the family tradition forever." Ruby added.
"We don't hate it, we just wanted to do something different for a change." Luna replied. "Though still, I really wanted to do something great with Sam since we couldn't go ice skating with all the skates sold out."
As the group headed their way to the food court, Luna saw Sam sitting alone, waiting. The sad part is despite the gigs she did with the band, she just told her family last night about her skipping family tradition which she's lucky they accepted, as long as she's being honest.
"Hey Sam." Luna walked up to her girlfriend.
"Hi Luna." She responded as Luna sat down. "So...any plans for us?"
"Sorry, but still nothing. To tell you the truth, it has been a busy month outside of our gigs."
"We really wanted to make this special for all of us but then again...this is our first Christmas together." Mazzy added.
"Well you can't expect to have a proper first Christmas for a band like us." Sam replied.
"So are we just gonna spend time in the mall?" Shannon wondered.
"No." Luna replied. "I gotta help Luan and Leni with their Christmas errands soon. And then maybe we can have lunch here."
"I had to work overtime at the Theatre club, so I didn't have time to buy Benny a Christmas present." Luan filling in.
"Were you planning to spend time with him?" Ruby added.
"I would if we had tickets to see a Broadway play of A Christmas Carol, but we don't."
"I gave Gavin his Christmas gift, but he headed down south to celebrate Christmas with his family so, babysitting Lily is all I got." Leni lifted Lily up.
"Lily wants a great Christmas!" Lily shouted.
Soon, Nina and Joey arrived at the food court, seeing the Moon Goats from a distance. "Hey Moon Goats!" She called their attention.
"Nina! Joey!" Sully smiled.
"It's great to see you two." Mazzy added.
"Well after she helped me with the tuba audition from the Christmas parade last week, I decided to help her pay for the Christmas Snickerdoodles." Joey replied.
"I'm in a snickerdoodle mood this year." Nina replied.
"That's nice." Sam smiled. "But we're trying to find our mood, since we have no plans for Christmas."
"We're not doing our family traditions this year unlike the last few years." Luna filling in. "Do you have any ideas?"
"We can do some Christmas carols." Nina offered.
"That'll take time." Joey said.
"Yeah, we all have been doing so many gigs, we didn't have time to listen to Christmas Carols." Sully replied.
"Don't you guys know you can do other activities during Christmas?" Shannon filling in. "Like sure, the Theatre Club does singing as well, but maybe there are other activities."
"She's right." Luan filling in. "How about when we do our errands, we find someone who could give us some inspiration."
"Yeah, you're right." Luna standing up. "But on Christmas Eve, it has to be a fast one."
Luna, Luan, and Leni left the food court, while the group stayed behind. They headed to the costume store to find Leni not only a costume for herself, but also Lily in her size. After picking a sparkling red and white Santa outfit and an elf costume for Lily, they paid for the two outfits as they headed out of the store.
"Why wouldn't you wanna see Sam in a Santa outfit?" Leni wondered.
"Because she told me I would look better in one." Luna answered. "The last time I wore a Santa outfit was when I was eight."
"Yeah, we remember that when you sang so many Christmas songs." Luan smiled. "Do you have Sam's Christmas gift?"
"Yes but it's in our bedroom. I didn't bring it with me because I was saving it for tomorrow. I know how thrilled she would've been if she found out what it is."
"Did she tell you what she likes?" Leni added.
"No, I picked up on hints during our time together, it's a surprise."
"Ohhh..." Luan, Leni, and Lily responded.
"You two would do the same, don't overdo it."
"Hey, there's nothing wrong with savoring the moment when it happens." Leni smiled.
"Yeah." Lily added.
"Though still, we really need to find someone to get an idea on what we're gonna do today." Luna looking around. She then noticed Lori's friend Carol hanging out with Becky after coming out from the camping store. She made her way to the two while her sisters followed suit. "Carol!"
Carol and Becky turned their attention to Luna but little did the rockstar know, they were planning to leave. "Luna?" Carol replied.
"I know this isn't really the time, but I want to spend Christmas with not only my band, but also Sam. Do you have any ideas?"
"Luna, we're actually on a strict schedule right now." Becky replied. "Nothing personal, but tonight is really gonna be special."
"What, does it have something to do with your families?"
Carol and Becky looked at each other and went back to Luna again. "No." Carol responded. "We're gonna be watching the stars tonight."
Upon hearing their plans, Luna just found the inspiration she needs. "Wait, there's gonna be stars tonight? Like real stars?"
"Yes, we're gonna go to the forest while the stars appear above the frozen lake."
"For the last few days, we've decorated the trees at the location and all that's left is for winter camping supplies." Becky said, showing the supply bag.
"Wait, what do you mean by winter camping?" Luan wondered.
"The stars only appear at midnight." Carol answered. "Once we get to our destination, we're gonna set up our camping tents and sleep out there after watching the stars."
"That's...really awesome!" Luna cheered.
"Shooting stars during Christmas!?" Leni squealed. "How I didn't think of that before!?"
"It's called the Geminid Meteor Shower." Carol answered. "Usually it only appears a few days ago, but after the forecast news earlier this month, midnight could be bigger than that."
Luna couldn't pick a better opportunity for the best Christmas on her own. Even if she didn't experience the Geminid Meteor Shower in her life, she wonders how Sam would react upon the stars from the sky.
"Luna, you need to understand this isn't gonna be easy, not even a bit."
"You see, the weather is getting colder and it's gonna be a long night." Becky added.
"Yeah...I didn't forget the time we got stuck in Burpin' Burger to find the winning wrapper for Lana. The snow was that cold."
"We would've been burping icicles if things got worse." Luan added.
"Well you better get the equipment if you really want to see the stars." Carol replied. "Here's where you need to be." She showed Luna her phone on the destination where she and Becky are heading. Luna immediately took a picture from her phone as she's ready to tell Sam and the others their Christmas plans.
"Is Lori and Bobby gonna be there?" Leni wondered.
"No. I did offer, but they already had plans but luckily, Lori told me she found a way to get two other people to come along."
"They're probably already there right now, they really love the location." Becky added.
"Well, Lori is literally missing out on the best midnight in years." Luna grinned. "I'll do whatever it takes to get there."
"It's not that far away, it's just two miles from the road." Carol added. "I will say, I'm looking forward to seeing Sam. I've heard good things about her." This caused Luna to blush which Carol giggled. "Always the shy girlfriend who smiles especially during Christmas."
"She can't help herself." Leni replied while Lily giggled.
Carol and Becky walked past Luna and her sisters to head out of the mall. Luna took a deep breath, while focusing on her goal. "Okay, I'm gonna go to our band to tell them we're going winter camping tonight to see the stars at midnight!"
"You sure this is gonna work out?" Luan wondered.
"I'm sure, it's a once in a lifetime chance for me and the band. I promise I'll get back to you with the errands." Luna headed straight back to the food court while Leni, Lily and Luan looked at each other.
"I'm sure the stars are gonna be pretty like the New Year's fireworks." Leni commented.
"If Luna's taking her band, I'm taking Ruby, Shannon, and my boyfriend Benny along." Luan smiled. "Though it is sad Gavin isn't here to watch the stars with you."
"Nah, I can send him selfies with the stars behind me. He'll be impressed."
"But I am worried about Sam, I'm sure she'll enjoy the stars if what Carol said is true."
"If she is, should we give Luna a surprise from her girlfriend?"
Leni lidded her eyes while looking at Lily. If everything turns out great in the end, she'll make Luna and Sam's midnight the best Christmas ever. She heads back to the costume store to buy Luna and Sam outfits.
After Luna's band agreed to the plan, they began their shopping rush in the mall for the accessories, especially finishing Luan's errands. Upon leaving, the Moon Goats texted their closest friends to tag along on their journey. With one stop at Luna's place to pick up Sam's Christmas present, they made their way to the forest where Carol and Becky were heading. Chuck took the Moon Goats on the road through the forest. After the snowstorm, every tree in the forest is covered in snow to the point where Carol, Becky and others had to clear a pathway to head to the frozen lake, especially when the snow from the trees constantly fell on the ground.
Chunk parked his van on the edge of the road with the Moon Goats heading out, while taking out their accessories. "We're here." Chunk getting out from the driver's seat. "You sure this is gonna be worth it? It's still close to noon."
"We can do something by the frozen lake." Mazzy smiled.
"Then again, winter camping is like summer camping, but colder." Sully commented.
"It's still worth seeing the stars at midnight." Nina replied.
"It's gonna be awesome mate." Tabby hugging Nina.
Then Leni along with Lily, Luan, Ruby, Shannon, and the Moon Goat's friends parked Vanzilla behind the Moon Goat's van. When they got out, Leni and Luan headed straight to Luna who took out her camping gear.
"We're here!" Leni smiled.
"So this is where we're going?" Luan looked at the cleared pathway.
"It seems like it." Luna replied.
"I have to say, I'm mostly wondering what we're gonna do before midnight." Shannon walked up behind Luan.
"We could go skating, but we don't have ice skates." Sam answered. "Then again, camping in the winter is what's on my mind."
"The only thing we can do is make the best out of it." Benny commented.
"You're right." Joey added.
As Luna and the group head through the open pathway, a broadcast TV truck also parked at the edge of the road, revealing Katherine Mulligan, her niece Adeline in her baby leash and her TV crew. "This could be it." She got out of the truck. "On Christmas morning, it will be the best Christmas report any broadcast has ever seen."
As the TV crew took out the camping and broadcast equipment, they headed in the pathway to reach the frozen lake. The two miles Luna and the group took wasn't as stressful as they thought. Even if they had to carry heavy camping equipment, they made sure to put their full focus on setting up their camping spots. Nina, Tabby, Ruby, and Shannon were way in the back carrying food and drinks.
"Have you ever imagined what it would be like to see the Geminid Meteor Shower, but bigger?" Shannon asked.
"It'll possibly be a once in a lifetime event, if it's true." Ruby commented.
"Hey, once in a lifetime opportunities should always be taken." Nina smiled. "Who knows, we would probably be the only people to see that during midnight."
"Those people who rejected the idea don't know what they're missing." Tabby added. "You have no idea how thrilled I am right now!"
"So am I, and I'm wondering how Luna is gonna handle this with Sam."
In the front of the group, Luna, Sam, Luan, Benny, and Leni are leading the group with much of the camping supplies. With the rest of Luna's friends from behind, Luna knew she would make it as far upon arriving. But with so much time until midnight, she not only needs to keep herself occupied, but also Sam and the others.
"Sam." Luna spoke to her girlfriend's attention.
"Yes?" Sam responded.
"When we set up our tents, what do you think we should do during our spare time?"
"Well when you showed me the map, all there was a frozen lake. There was nothing close to it aside from the tents."
"Maybe we can ask Carol or Becky when we're there." Luan replied.
"They probably went somewhere other than staying by their tents." Benny added.
"The only thing we could do since we can't go skating is hiking, but during the winter with snow?" Leni blinked. "No fashion show would approve of that."
"I still want to make a snowman!" Lily said.
"Don't worry, I promised we would do it today."
"If we find a way to do something exciting, even at the last minute, we can do it together." Luna slightly smiled.
"Okay, no matter what it is, at least we're spending Christmas together." Sam smiled back.
"Yeah, I know."
In a matter of time, they arrive by the frozen lake with the tents set up with tons of open spots. During the summer, nobody swam in the lake with other lakes slightly farther away being bigger but during the winter, the ice is stronger in smaller lakes than the bigger lakes. As the whole group walked past the tents, they saw Carol and Becky right in front of their tent.
"Luna." Carol took notice of her group's arrival.
"We're here." Luna replied.
"Where can we set up our tents?" Mazzy asked.
"Over there." Becky pointed.
"Thanks." Sully walking past.
It took them time to set their tents up along with the supplies and Christmas gifts, but with the help from Carol and Becky, they followed on really easily. With all the tents, each being shared by two people, the rest of Luna's group relaxed while having some drinks.
"So you two sleep with your winter clothes on?" Joey asked to which Carol nodded.
"Sleeping in a winter tent that isn't necessary when a regular tent is more convenient." Becky replied. "But during a snowstorm, there's a reason why winter campsites don't exist."
"Technically we're making one, but we're not running a camping business." Carol added.
"Well, at least we have the right tools to go through the night." Sam spoked.
"Though we're wondering," Luna replied. "Do you two plan to do anything until the Geminid Meteor Shower comes at midnight?"
"Nothing at all." Becky answered.
"We've been focusing on this whole winter camp along with the whole tree decorating, we just want to make sure we don't miss the stars." Carol replied.
Luna felt speechless of the lack of activities Carol and Becky do aside from winter camping. Of course her hearing about how hard setting up camp felt exaggerated. "It's not even one o'clock and we have eleven hours from now until then."
"We weren't sure okay, just because this is all your first time doesn't mean we've done this before."
"Only a few families saw the Geminid Meteor Shower in Royal Woods." Becky said. "Anyone who denies it just prefers normal camping, that's for any season except winter."
"Well, it seems you can do more in normal camping but still, we can at least do something to use up all that spare time." Sam replied. "There should be something we can do that's close to us."
When Carol looked at the map from her phone, Luna and everyone by the frozen lake saw Katherine Mulligan and her TV crew making their way. "Katherine Mulligan?" Luna blinked.
"The Moon Goats." Katherine smiled. "Didn't expect we would meet again after you performed on Kat Chat." As the TV crew moved past them to set up their winter tents, Luan and Leni, who picked up Lily, walked up next to Luna and Sam.
"Looks like the tv broadcast might be capturing the moment." Luan said.
"Correct. And in the morning, we're going back to the TV station and giving families a great Royal Woods Morning News."
"Wow, talk about doing a service for missing Christmas just for an amazing Geminid Meteor Shower experience." Leni commented.
"They already show it on TV, just not the bigger one." Joey replied.
"Anyway, I'm planning on going sightseeing with my niece soon. It may not be enough in my mind, but my crew are still setting up the TV equipment, especially our broadcast camera." Katherine said.
"I don't blame you, we've all early here." Becky commented. "Then again, we made the choice to be here rather with our families so...this is our price we have to deal with."
"Wait!" Carol called as she headed back to the group. "There's a building close by but it's on top of a hill."
"On top of a hill?" Luna responded.
"I don't know what it is but considering we have a lot of time, we can check it out."
"Perfect! I can give Adeline great sightseeing along with capturing it on video." Katherine said happily, picking up her niece.
"Well at least it's still something." Sam turned to Luna.
"I'm mostly wondering what we can do on the hill, especially the building." Luna wondered.
"Then let's go already." Sully said, standing up from the ground. While the rest of the group relax by the frozen Lake, Luna, the Moon Goats, her sisters, Carol, Becky, Benny, Katherine along with her niece and a cameraman made their way to the nearby hill. After going through the forest from the other side from where they came from, they got out where they saw the hill by the open field. It wasn't as big as they thought so they couldn't see it by the frozen lake.
Upon heading up the hill, they noticed snow steps from two people who went up there. Luna remembered the size of the snow steps, she still remembers the time she had a snow day without school, spending time with her siblings, and remembering the sizes of their footsteps. She may not be an expert like Lisa but she still knows her siblings in some aspects when it comes to size.
"We're almost there." Chunk panted.
With Luna and her siblings reaching to the top, the building is a medium size cabin with a garage on the right. It wasn't the best cabin in the world, but the most cozy at this time of year.
"It's just a cabin?" Becky took notice after reaching the top.
"Well that's a bummer." Luan commented. "But I wonder who's inside."
"Let's not bother them." Sam replied. "If they're staying for the Geminid Meteor Shower, they really rented the money here and not wasted a cent of it."
"I would do the same to be honest." Carol said.
When Luna followed the snow steps from the left side of the cabin, she saw two kids on the edge of the hill, but one of them she recognized very well. "Bro?"
The kid turned around after hearing the B word from someone who calls him that everytime. "Luna?"
"Lincoln!" Luna smiled as she ran up to him. "I didn't expect to spend my Christmas to see you." She then saw Girl Jordan and was surprised to see her. "And your happy Christmas angel." She lidded her eyes, causing her brother to blush.
"Hey, I also didn't expect to meet you out here to see the stars." Lincoln reacted.
"Lincoln, everyone called me and my friends Christmas angels." Girl Jordan said, walking up next to him.
"I even heard when you and her were video chatting, she called you the Gildor Elf." Leni smiled as Lily giggled.
"Guys stop!" Lincoln continued to blush harder.
"Aww! You didn't tell me?" Luan looking at Leni. "I could've come up with a great pun."
"Okay, everyone give him a break." Carol chiming in. "Lincoln and Girl Jordan were the ones Lori talked about and they agreed."
"We were planning on just spending Christmas apart since we did a lot this month, but Girl Jordan wanted to see the stars with me tonight, so here I am." Lincoln presented himself.
"Geez, everyone has last minute decisions." Benny commented.
"It's still our first time watching the Geminid Meteor Shower together with it being bigger than normal. I can't imagine how breathtaking it will be." Girl Jordan replied.
As Katherine and her cameraman reached the top of the hill, her niece cheered from the view on all sides. "This is perfect!" She smiled. "Get the camera ready!"
Luna, Carol, and Lincoln walked up from the edge of the hill while looking at the view in the distance. Nina went past the group to see Luna next to her brother while Girl Jordan took notice. "Is that a new member of your band?" Girl Jordan asked.
"Well, temporary member." Sam answered.
"She looks really cool."
"Thanks, I don't usually get those compliments from fans." Nina smiled.
"Hey, even non-fans can give out honest gestures." Sully added.
"Though I'm wondering what's with the cabin here."
When the group turned to the cottage itself, they agreed with what Sam said but when Sam got close to the window, she noticed it's empty in the living room. "I don't think anyone's here."
"Really?" Girl Jordan seeing through the window. "Yeah, there's no one inside?"
"But it doesn't look dusty at all." Nina also joined in.
Mazzy reached to the front door to open it, but found it to be locked. "We still need a key though."
"What about the garage?" Joey pointed. "Because I don't think it's very heavy, we might push the garage door up."
"Yeah, let's give it a try." Tabby cheered as the group headed to the garage.
Back from the edge of the hill, Luna told Lincoln everything on why she and her band are here. Of course Lincoln would've been in the same position as her sister but his relationship with Girl Jordan isn't the same as Sam's.
"Luna, when you say this is your first time spending Christmas with Sam, did you expect more from it?" Lincoln asked.
"Everyone wants their first Christmas with someone more than better." Luna replied. "If ice skating was my option, I would still want more from it."
"Even me and Becky, which is why we decorated the trees by the frozen lake." Carol added.
"Well, I can't say I would've felt the same way. Girl Jordan wanted to do more before we came here." Lincoln looked in the distance.
"Hey, the only thing I remember from last year is you and her having turtle doves. Don't act like she missed Christmas when she was born."
Lincoln turned to his sister after hearing the complement. "It did feel like that."
"Hey, I didn't get a chance to sit on Santa's lap until I was seven." Carol retorted. "When do you get a chance to sit on his lap?"
"Four years old?"
"Exactly!"
"What? I wasn't rubbing it in your face."
This causes Carol to lean down face to face with Lincoln. "Kids do that when they get their chance. They're not like my friends."
"Was it a bad experience?"
"We all grew up thinking that Santa was real." Carol leaned back while noticing that everyone except Katherine and her cameraman were gone. "Where is everybody?"
The three headed to the front of the cabin and saw Nina, Girl Jordan, Tabby, Sully, and Mazzy push the garage opener up. "We got it!" Nina smiled while they witnessed the inside.
"There's tons of sleighs in here." Tabby looking at the stack of sleighs.
"We can definitely slide down the hill with these." Girl Jordan smiled.
When Luna, Carol, and Lincoln headed to the front of the garage, Nina and the others took one medium size sleigh and walked past them. "There's sleighs inside?" Luna reacted.
"Yeah, we can ride down the hill to pass the time." Sam replied.
"That's actually really great." Lincoln jumped in thrilled. "I'll help you carry the sleigh Girl Jordan." He heads to ad Girl Jordan as most of the sleighs, small and medium, are out of the garage.
"You're thinking about sliding down with Sam?" Carol asked while they saw Sam taking another medium size sleigh out. "It's not skiing, but it's still riding down the hill."
"I do, it's just..." Luna stepped into the garage. "It's not the Christmas moment I wanted with her. Midnight is the moment, but sleighing isn't really what I had in mind to pass the time."
"It's not like it's wasting your time." Carol walked next to her. "I make the best out of using my time on anything that comes my way."
"That's easy for you to say, all I have is my gift to her."
Carol turned around to see Sam nowhere in her sight, outside of the garage. "What did you bring her?" She turned back to Luna.
"A light blue and yellow rockstar guitar pendant." Luna answered. "I couldn't find anything better like a new guitar or something else, so I went to the jewelry store where I found the pendant."
"That's...really unlikely of you to do that."
"I didn't get the choice to go out of Royal Woods. The women who worked there stated that the pendent's rare and I was lucky that they had her name on top of the guitar." When she took a deep breath, Nina overheard everything while hiding by the garage door.
Just when Luna headed out, Nina got out of the way while heading inside. She wanted to make things better between her and Sam, but it requires a lot more for them to spend quality time. But when she turned around, she saw two pairs of ice skates that are the right sizes for Luna and Sam. "This is perfect for her and Sam."
She headed to Katherine who her cameraman finished setting up and preparing to record. When she slightly pulled on her winter jacket, Katherine took notice as Nina whispered into her eye. Katherine liked the idea so much, she was willing to have it included on television. "I like the way you think, kid." She smiled.
Nina headed back to the group who all set up their sleighs. She shared a sleigh with Tabby from the front and Becky from the back. Leni, Luan, and Benny all shared one with Lily in front. Carol shared hers with Lincoln and Girl Jordan with her right in front of them, Chuck had his own sleigh for himself, Sully and Mazzy all shared one as Luna and Sam sat on their own sleigh.
"Are we all ready?" Carol asked, holding onto Lincoln.
"I'm ready when you are." Mazzy responded.
"We can do this as many times as we want, we have a lot of time." Becky added.
"This is gonna be exciting." Sam responded. "I did this with my brother last year, but not on this high of a hill."
When Luna looked straight down, it was a bigger hill then expected. If people walked up here, they're would be no way of them sliding down. "Yeah, he'll probably be exhausted by going up the hill several times."
"Would you?" Sam turned to Luna.
"Probably, if the hill wasn't so big."
"You'll be like my brother, even though you're in shape."
With everyone in their sleighs, they pushed them down the hill with Leni and Carol's coming down first. Becky and Sully came second while Luna and Chuck's came down last. "See you at the bottom, mates!" He called while sliding down.
The speed of Luna and Sam's sleigh due to the height of the hill was beyond what they expected. The two tried to hold on with the speed of their sleigh being much faster. They went past Becky which took her and the others by surprise.
"Whoa!" Becky reacted.
"They're going down fast!" Tabby shouted.
Soon Luna and Sam went past Benny and the Loud sisters. "Luuuunaaa!" Lily pointed and just in the nick of time, she received a high five from Luna.
"Wow, they're going really fast." Benny reacted.
"They're coming up by Carol." Leni replied.
When Carol, Lincoln, and Girl Jordan are focused on the end of the hill, they didn't pay attention to Luna and Sam who went flying past them. Just when they saw them, they reached the end of the hill with their sleighs slowing down. Luna and Sam turned their sleighs to the right to stop as the others stopped their sleighs.
"You beat us!" Lincoln getting out of the sleigh.
"We thought we would've been the first to stop." Girl Jordan added.
"I guess we were lighter than all of you." Sam giggled. "It's disappointing, but it's still not a race."
"And it was still fun!" Luna said. "If Lana was here sliding with Bobbie Fletcher, I would love to see the look on her face."
"Hmm, confident are you?" Carol smiled while raising an eyebrow. "If you participate in the skiing event at the olympics, let's see who's the more confident one."
With the other people stopping, they were amazed to see Luna and Sam sliding past them. "That was amazing!" Luan getting out of her sleigh.
"I want to do it again!" Tabby reacted.
"Should we get the others to slide down?" Leni offered.
"Sure if you go get them." Chuck picking his sleigh up.
The group continued to go back up the hill and slide down. Leni went back to the frozen lake and brought more people to join in. For the next hour, they continued to slide down the hill while Katherine recorded them. Not long until she and her niece took a turn, sliding down with Adeline cheering in excitement. Luna and Sam were having a blast sliding down multiple times. When everyone took their final slide down the hill, they reached back up to return the sleighs in the garage while heading back to the frozen lake. However when Nina became the last person to put her sleigh back, she took the two pairs of ice skates and followed the group.
When they made their way back to the frozen lake, they decide to take a break with the amount of time they still have. Nina sneakily went into her tent to keep the pair of ice skates a secret from Luna and Sam. But after she got out, Luan, Leni, Lincoln, and Lily spotted her.
"Were you carrying something?" Lincoln replied.
"Yes, but it's a surprise." Nina answered.
"Oh, that's totes a coincidence, because we already have a surprise for our sister Lu-" Luan covered Leni's mouth.
"Leni, don't blurt it out loud." Luan said.
"You also have a surprise?" Nina blinked.
"Yes?"
"What's this all about?" Lincoln replied.
With Lincoln being the only one not keeping secrets, the rock girl and sisters had to confess to each other. "We brought Christmas outfits for Luna and Sam." Leni answered.
"And I was carrying two pairs of ice skates from that hill we just went on." Nina answered. "It's mainly for Luna and Sam."
"As in, the two skating together on the frozen lake?" Lincoln asked as Nina nodded. Lincoln wanted to help out his rock and roll sister, but for how his sisters and Nina were setting everything up in secret, he wondered how Luna would react upon the moment's arrival.
"We've brought dresses for Luna being dressed up as Mrs. Claus while...it's a surprise for what Sam's gonna wear." Leni confessed.
"The Geminid Meteor Shower didn't feel like enough for her, so we wanted to make it better. It's almost a Christmas miracle she hasn't found out yet." Luan commented. "Then again, we didn't even prepare for the two at the last minute."
"Seems you didn't think of the idea of them skating together." Lincoln said, catching on to what was going on.
"If we did, we would've planned everything out. But I couldn't afford two pairs of ice skates." Leni said.
"If I took that opportunity alone, it would take me weeks, maybe even months to make it work between her and Sam." Nina commented.
When Lincoln looks at Luna who's hanging out with her band, including Sam, there's still lots of time before midnight arrives. Even with the trees decorated, he may find a way to make Luna's Christmas with Sam better.
"Be right back." Lincoln saw Girl Jordan hanging out Carol and Becky who were testing the Christmas lights. When he got her attention from behind, he whispered into her ear while keeping an eye on Luna and Sam not spotting him. Girl Jordan found the idea perfect as she joined in on Lincoln's plan. When they come back to the sisters and Nina, there's only one way to make Luna's Christmas better. "Let's do some more errands."
"Perfect." Nina agreed.
"Let's get this show on the road." Luan smiled.
"I can drive...but I'm low on payments." Leni added while Lily giggled.
Lincoln, his sisters, Girl Jordan and Nina, made their way to the exit from where they came from, only for Luna to take notice. "Hey!" Luna called as she walked up to them. "Where are you all going?"
"More sightseeing, since we still have lots of time before the meteor shower."
"We'll be back before night time." Luan said.
"We're mostly impatient, staying here isn't gonna occupy us for that long." Nina replied.
"I don't blame you, but I'm not risking the chances of missing the meteor shower at midnight." Luna looked up at the sky. "Hope you all get back."
"We will." Leni spoked.
The group headed back to Vanzilla to drive to stores outside of the forest. It took them to four separate stores to search for the stuff they're looking for. It took them all afternoon, but they managed to get everything that they needed. During their trip, Girl Jordan came up with an idea that'll make Sam more pleased when it eventually happens, just like what Lincoln did for her last year.
Nina managed to rent more pairs of ice skates for the people by the frozen lake for one night, but at the same time, she'll do more with them knowing that Katherine Mulligan wants her Christmas report to be memorable. Of course, she doesn't want everyone to stay off of the frozen lake, leaving Luna and Sam all alone before the meteor shower arrives.
By the time they headed back, it was starting to get dark out with the sun setting below the horizon. Even with only six hours left until the moment itself arrives, they still have enough time to set up the moment between Luna and Sam. Luan texted her boyfriend, Ruby, and Shannon on their plan for Luna, to which they accepted. Upon arriving back by the frozen lake, most of the trees around are lit up with each tree having one set of colors while some have multiple colors. It wasn't the best Carol and Becky set up, but for their first time, they at least contributed.
Luna and Sam both came out of their tents while taking notice of her brother, sisters and Nina coming back. They both walked up to them after five hours being away as Luna's becoming inpatient despite keeping on track of time. "You're finally back." Luna replied.
"I told you we'd be back by nightfall." Luan replied.
"Is there anything else you're gonna do until midnight?" Girl Jordan asked.
"Not much, we did spend time with the band performing songs...despite no instruments." Sam said.
When the group turned to the frozen lake, Luan and Nina turned to Benny who popped his head out of the tent. "That's good, hey Sam, is it okay if you can do an activity with Luan's friends?" Nina pointed at the tent just as Benny got back in.
"Sure, it'll keep me occupied for a little while." Sam made her way to the tent.
"Speaking of activities, me and the Moon Goats are all out of options. Then again the whole meteor shower is really testing my patience."
"Then how about we do something together in our tent?" Leni offered and Lily cheered.
"Even sisters need to keep themselves occupied." Luan smiled.
"Okay." Luna smiled as she and her sisters headed into their tent.
"Okay, you two tell everyone about our plan, but remind them to not tell Luna and Sam." Nina spoke to the preteens.
"We got everything under control." Lincoln smiled.
"Especially the unexpected moments." Girl Jordan lidded her eyes.
Lincoln and Girl Jordan reached everyone by the frozen lake, while Nina hid the surprises behind one of the tents when the moment arrived. For the next five hours, it's getting close to midnight, just thirty minutes away. It was a quiet time while Luna and Sam remained inside their tents. Carol and Becky looked up at the sky with tons of stars.
"The meteor shower should be coming in half an hour." Becky commented.
"The meteors from last week were smaller, but bigger?" Carol wondered. "Science and the solar system can be unpredictable."
"At least it's not an asteroid crashing into earth at unpredictable speed levels."
Katherine and her crew are at their tv set up, while Katherine is keeping her niece occupied. Everyone who's outside of their tents are waiting for the meteors to come past them, all except Luna, Sam, her sisters and Luan's boyfriend and friends.
"Wow, this Christmas outfit is perfect for me." Luna looking at her reflection from Leni's mirror.
"Does it take you back to your childhood?" Leni smiled.
"Yeah, minus the sparkles. And the ice stakes." Luna looked down at her boots.
"Don't worry, I've heard that the ice in the lake is really strong, thanks to the snowstorm." Luan added.
"You mean you want me to ice skate on the frozen lake?"
"It's not hard to get used to."
"What about Sam, is she also gonna ice skate?"
"Yep." Leni replied. "I bet she'll be surprised when she sees you in that outfit."
Luna can tell where this is going, but not catching on completely on her sister's plan. Especially since her girlfriend Sam is in the other tent hanging out with Luan's classmates. In the other tent, Ruby and Shannon took their time to put Sam in her outfit, but compared to Luna's, it was a bit harder to do.
"Is this really necessary? It's really cold outside." Sam said while shaking.
"It's only for tonight." Benny replied.
"Besides, doesn't it look great?" Ruby commented.
"I'm not gonna lie, it makes me stand out as a beautiful girl during the Christmas season." Sam looked at her outfit.
"If only we could rent them for Theatre Club plays." Shannon said, being mesmerized at the outfit.
"I'm still on the fence with the whole ice skating thing. I did take lessons, especially pairing with a partner, but on the frozen lake, aren't other people gonna ice skate?"
"In a little bit." Ruby answered. "Trust us, you won't regret this."
"It's just, I thought this would've been an appropriate time to do it earlier than thirty minutes before the shower starts."
"It's not like you're gonna miss it when you're outside like everyone else."
"I can guarantee that you won't fall when the meteors shoot past." Benny said. "If you're good at ice skating, you should be able to keep your balance with your partner."
Sam soon picked up the pieces with one more question in mind. "Who is my partner, by the way?"
"Take a wild guess." Both Ruby and Shannon smiled while Sam lidded her eyes. By the look on their faces, she won't jinx the moment of the partner she's skating with.
Back outside, Lincoln and Girl Jordan stand together in front of Luna's tent while Nina and Joey stand together in front of Sam's tent. fifteen minutes have passed with only fifteen minutes until midnight. With the people in Royal Woods sleeping until Christmas morning, people by the frozen lake aren't wasting their opportunity. A difficult night for first timers, but worth the wait. The Moon Goats along with their friends are sitting as a group, staying on time but also witnessing an ice skating show like from TV but by teenagers.
Luan popped her head out of her tent while Benny popped his head out of his. They gave each other a thumbs up while turning to Lincoln and Nina, giving them the thumbs up indicating that Luna and Sam are ready. Upon the signal, Lincoln and Girl Jordan lifted up a red curtain with pulls on each end to prevent Luna having eye contact with Sam. As for Nina and Joey, they have a white curtain to do the same with Sam.
Carol and Becky took notice of Luna coming out, they've heard about what Lincoln told them earlier and they're gonna join in on the view. "Would you be willing to give two of them an announcement? Like from an ice skating show?" Becky asked.
"Keeping them anonymous makes the show better, this isn't professional ice skating." Carol replied.
Luan and Leni helped Luna stepping on the frozen lake due to her ice skates. With Sam getting the assistance from Ruby and Shannon, the two groups reached the center of the lake and crossed paths. They remain still with Leni and Luan letting go of Luna. "You're ready for this?" Luan backed away.
"I think I can handle this from here." Luna grinned. "I'll love the look on Sam's face when she sees me in this." Sam quietly giggled with Ruby, after hearing what Luna just said. In the right moment, Lincoln and Girl Jordan moved out of the way with their curtain while Nina and Joey did the same. "Merry Christmas Sa-"
Upon seeing Sam in full view, she cut herself off, with her heart pounding. Sam wore an ice crystal sequin patterned outfit, being much more shiny compared to Luna's. Even without any make up, she still stands out more beautiful than Luna, who's the only person wearing a Santa hat. "Ha, Merry Christmas Luna." She giggled.
"That...outfit...is gorgeous!" Luna reacted. "I never thought I would ever say that!"
"And your outfit is adorable."
Luna was shaking, while Leni and Luan kept an eye on her in case she fell over. "Just stay in the moment." Luan leaned towards her sister.
"And backing out is the last thing people do during Christmas." Leni added.
"I'm aware." Luna responded.
"We should let them take it from here." Shannon replied.
"Okay." Ruby smiled. "The lake's all yours."
With the girls getting off the frozen lake, Luna and Sam stared at each other. With the sky filled with stars, Sam took Luna's hand as she moved herself, skating with Luna behind her. Luna saw the way Sam skated from the movements of her legs. She kept her balance as Sam turned to her right.
"It's not skiing, but it's still something." Luna is still distracted from Sam's dress.
"Don't worry, this is just for fun, I'm not expecting you to be an expert." Sam replied. "If we were skiing on a hill, I wouldn't want to see you do a flip of some sort, because you would end up crashing down."
"I've been thinking the same thing."
"Then again, I would've crashed if I was trying to save you."
"Still would do the same thing."
The two giggled while they continued to skate on the ice. With the tree lights glowing around the frozen lake, it felt like skating through a garden at a holiday light show. Even in staying in one place, Sam couldn't believe how hard Carol and Becky worked by decorating the trees. Luna may seem better when it comes to decorations, but she can't deny the place itself is beautiful.
"I want to know." Sam spoked. "I know we're gonna do well in the new year but...what do you bring me for Christmas?"
Luna didn't forget to bring Sam's gift, but on the other hand, she was planning to give it to her on Christmas morning after making the choice to sleep inside her tent. "Do you want me to give it to you now, instead of in the morning?"
"It's almost Christmas, besides, I'm willing to give you mine."
From the gesture of her girlfriend's holiday spirit, Luna made up her mind as she let go of Sam. She made her way to the Moon Goats with Sam stopping herself. "Go get my gift to Sam and hers to me, we're gonna open them tonight."
"No problem." Sully replied, heading into their tents.
"I'm gonna love to see this." Chunk crossing his arms.
"So do we all." Mazzy added as she gets Sam's gift. In no time, Sully and Mazzy got out Luna and Sam's gifts to each other. Upon giving them to Luna, Luna skated back to Sam and handed her gift to her. Katherine and her crew are recording every second of Luna and Sam's skating on the frozen lake and now, they're having the moment together. "This is gonna break ratings for teenage Christmas spirit!" Katherine cheered. "Zoom in on them!" The cameraman followed Katherine's order as the camera zoomed in on Luna and Sam.
"I want to open mine before you open yours." Luna replied.
"Okay." Sam smiled.
While standing still, Luna opened up her gift. Upon ripping the wrapping paper, they're Mick Swagger style headphones with Mick Swagger's face sticking out. "Mick Swagger headphones?" Luna smiled.
"I knew they were rare to find, so me and my mom searched outside of Royal Roods to find them. You can't imagine how hard it was to find them."
The appreciation of searching for a rare gift made Luna impressed, but at the same time, she couldn't do the same by going out of Royal Woods. "Speaking of Royal Woods, my gift isn't from out of town. But I did what I could to find something you'll enjoy."
"It's fine." As Sam looked at her gift, it's smaller compared to Luna's. She did receive smaller gifts in her life especially from her birthdays, but never expected one from Luna. Luna paid attention to Sam as she ripped the wrapping paper from her fingers. With the wrapping paper off, it's revealed to be a small box exclusive to necklaces which took her off guard. She took the top of the box off and saw the guitar pendant.
"Is that...a rockstar pendant...with my favorite colors?" She stuns in disbelief.
"It was mostly a last minute choice, I couldn't think of anything else." Luna slightly smiled. "I was thinking of picking out jewelry and I came across that."
Sam took the pendant out of the box and found it mesmerizing. Thanks to the Christmas lights all around, the reflections on the pendant were beyond beautiful. The guitar, while not the real thing, is fully detailed, as if there wasn't a single spot that was off. When she put the chain on her neck, it was better than how Luna imagined it in her mind.
"So...do you find it good?" Luna asked.
"It's more than good. It's perfect." Sam turned to Luna. "I'm not really into jewelry, but this really fits me."
Meanwhile, Nina checked on her watch that it was close to midnight, it was time for her to head behind the tents. With her running past Lincoln and Girl Jordan, it was also they're clue to do their own thing to make Luna's moment with Sam better.
"I'm glad that you like it." Luna smiled.
"I'll try to find one similar to this, but with your colors."
"I can help you with that, we don't have to wait until my birthday, that's still eight months away."
"Hey, it could be our new year's resolution together."
"Yeah."
Little did they know when they looked above themselves, a mistletoe was hanging above them. Lincoln and Girl Jordan together were holding onto a very long stick that the mistletoe is attached to the end. When they both looked at each other, Luna blushed hard. She kissed Sam a few times, but only on the cheek.
Sam also blushed, but not as hard as her girlfriend. At the same time, she's been thinking about receiving Luna a favor for the good things she did for her, especially today on Christmas Eve. She placed both of her hands on Luna's shoulders which caught her attention, but she didn't lid her eyes. She only looked straight into Luna's eyes so she could pay attention to her. Luna slowly closed her eyes, staying in the moment without anyone in the way.
"Merry Christmas...Luna." Sam closed her eyes and pressed her lips against Luna. She wrapped her arms around her while lifting her leg up. Luna grabbed Sam's body, preventing her from falling but her body is in another level of emotions. She shaked with her heart pounding, but Sam placed her hand on her back to calm her down.
Nina then rushed out from the back of the tents after setting off the surprise. Fireworks flew above the frozen lake, to the sky and exploded. It was also around the time where midnight of Christmas had arrived with shooting stars of The Geminid Meteor Shower. With them being bigger than before, they're in colors of blue, yellow, and purple. Both Luna and Sam opened their eyes while containing their kiss, with the decorated lights, fireworks, and the shooting stars on Christmas, they looked at each other again, and closed their eyes as they savored their best Christmas moment of their lives.
Everyone adored the moment, Tabby whistled from the moment she's witnessing Carol was more impressed with Luna while Katherine found the jackpot of all jackpots for her Christmas report. "You're aware that lesbian kissing isn't allowed on news broadcasts, right?" Her cameraman replied.
"Don't bring in oversensitive censorship!" Katherine leans towards the cameraman. "The LGBTQ community deserve a wonderful Christmas moment from their eyes!"2
After a solid minute, Luna and Sam broke the kiss as the fireworks stopped. They were more satisfied than they thought as Luna breathed after holding her breath. Upon letting the air out, she and Sam made their way off of the frozen lake. "Best Christmas ever!"
"That was amazing!" Mazzy cheered.
"Best romantic Christmas moment ever." Ruby added.
"I'll never stop putting mistletoes above couples during the holidays." Girl Jordan lidded her eyes.
"You really pulled a deja vu from last year little bro." Luna rubbed on Lincoln's hair.
"Wasn't planning on it, but I wasn't just gonna stand here and just watch the stars." Lincoln giggled. "Man with a plan love's out of nowhere goals."
"And besides, this Christmas is all about you and Sam." Luan commented.
"True, but Christmas is all about all of us." Sam replied. "I wanted to thank all of you for this."
"Really appreciated." Luna added.
Carol walked up by Luna, clapping from her and Sam's moment. "If this was part of a movie, you two would win an award for best kiss." She smiled.
"Couldn't agree more." Becky added.
"Anyway..." Nina went past the Moon Goats as she showed everyone her rented box of ice skates with Joey helping her out. "Who's ready to ice skate?"
Everyone cheered as they got a pair out from the box. In no time, everyone got on the frozen lake as they all skated. It felt like ice skating from the big city despite having no buildings, but the holiday feeling is still there, untouched and unchanged. The people who didn't ice skate are Luna, Sam, and Nina, sitting together, watching the people skate while The Geminid Meteor Shower is still shooting meteors from above.
"Aren't you gonna join in?" Sam asked.
"In a little bit." Nina answered.
"Is it because you planned most of this?" Luna guessed and Nina nodded. "You and the others weren't sightseeing, were you?"
"You're already catching on?"
"The moment came and went uninterrupted, this isn't seventh grade knowledge."
"I kind of knew it was a set up, but I wasn't gonna spoil anyone's Christmas errands." Sam giggled.
"Then I'm ahead of seventh grade education." Nina said.
"You bet." Luna taking off her Santa hat. "Nina, for you being an honorary member of our band, you proved to me that you really enjoyed us when we were just enjoying ourselves."
"Well I know bands do more than just gigs."
"Isn't it really a surprise, you've been with us for awhile, you already knew that." Sam replied.
"It's still the truth of them all. It was more than an honor to join your band. And as a person who adores Christmas, an honorary member shares holiday cheer to their closest members."
This causes Luna to roll her eyes, while smiling after months of getting to know Nina. "You're my friend rock star rookie." She wrapped her arm around her shoulder. "I think your new year's resolution is to write one song that can blow me away. No matter how long it takes."
"You're really giving me that honor?"
"Who knows."
"Possibly." Sam commented. "If it's a hit, you could write more songs."
"I will listen to them until the day I die."
"Okay!" Nina cheered. "I also have something for you two." She stood up while opening her backpack. She took out two bags of Christmas Snickerdoodles and gave them to Luna and Sam. "I don't have a lot for everyone, but I wasn't gonna forget about you two."
"Christmas Snickerdoodles?" Sam receives the snack.
"I would've passed them out, no matter what Christmas dessert it is." Luna taking one snickerdoodle out, taking a bite from it. "Thanks Nina."
"You're welcome." Nina smiled. "By the way, I need to return those ice skates back to that cabin."
"We'll do it in the morning. Enjoy ice skating."
Nina put on her ice skates as she joined the others on the frozen lake. "Should we join?" Sam offered.
"In five more minutes. I'm still satisfied from...you know."
"I'm also satisfied, but Christmas has arrived." She stood up while putting her beg in her tent. "And I'm not tired of ice skating again with my girlfriend."
Luna blushed again, while standing up. "Okay then." She took Sam's hand as they both got on the frozen lake. Nearly everyone had the best experience from The Geminid Meteor Shower after waiting half a day to witness it. Less and less stars appear but no one misses the moment they can all remember. Especially when more people see it on TV.
"I love Christmas." Katherine smiled as she joined in on the ice skating with her niece. "I'm just waiting to see the news reporters all around the world jealous of my ice skating skills."

"You sure you don't want to stay the night?" Tara asks as Lexi gets up from the couch.
"You know how my mom is. I wish I could." Lexi gives her a sad smile, "Ask Amber. She's come over if you tell her about the liquor being unlocked."
"Yeah." Tara agrees with both statements Lexi said getting her stuff to head out.
"I still can't believe your mother left you here alone. I still stand by that she's a shitty mother." Lexi opens the front door.
"I'll be fine. Not the first time and you know that. I'll just make me dinner and watch something else." Tara holds the door open, "Text me when you get home, okay?"
"Of course. Love you." Lexi head out.
"Love you too." Tara watches her then shut the door going to make dinner and text Amber.
When Lexi gets home Wes pulls her into a hug, "You're okay!" He squeezes her tightly confusing her.
"Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?"
"Mom had to leave in a rush. There was a call about neighbors hearing screaming and house alarms coming from Tara's." He explains to her.
"What?!" She panics calling her mother to ask what's going on.
Turns out Tara was attacked by someone wearing a Ghostface mask and was in really bad shape from fighting back. They said she was fine and rushed into surgery.
-
"Why the hell are we at school? Tara is alone at the hospital." Lexi says sitting on the picnic table.
"Weren't you the last person to see Tara before the attack?" Amber looks over at her so Mindy and Wes do too.
"Yes, but I didn't attack her. I went home. Why the hell would I attack her? She's my best friend. I've been her friend a lot longer than you bitch." Lexi gets defensive.
"Calm down, Lex." Wes sighs as his phone rings getting up to take it.
"Stop staring at me." Lexi glares at Amber.
The two have never gotten along since Tara became friends with both of them. They never gotten along and never will.
When Wes comes back he says it was Sam that called and said she's coming to see Tara which makes Amber talk shit.
"All I'm saying is, with everything going on right now, I think it's time we take our relationship to the next, most intimate level." Chad and Liv walk over sitting at the table Lexi was sitting on she moves over.
"He wants me to accept his Find My Fam request." Liv says.
"It's the smartest option with a would-be-killer on the loose. You know exactly where I am and I know exactly where you are. For example, I know Lexi was walking home when Tara was attacked." Chad explains to Liv.
"Why were you stalking her? Why do you even have her?" Liv tilts her head.
"Because she my friend and I wanted to make sure she got home safely. Before anyone asks I knew Lexi was with Tara because she told me her plans." Chad makes that clear. "Also, your mother just interrogated me about Tara's attempted murder, which was very fun."
"I'm sure she's asking everybody. I mean, Ghostface is back." Wes tells him.
"The press still isn't saying Ghostface." Mindy tells him.
"Our mom doesn't want to cause a panic." Lexi looks at her.
"It'll get out by the second or third killing."
"Jesus, Mindy, there wasn't a first killing. Tara's alive." Amber looks at her disgusted.
"Mmm. I mean, she could still die. Or the killer could come back for her." Mindy adds.
"Fuck! Mindy, come on." Chad adds.
"Just arm up, okay? Pepper spray, check. Taser, check." Wes makes it clear.
"Girlfriend repellent, check." Amber says making everyone laugh but Lexi.
"Hey, Liv. Isn't that the guy you hooked up with last summer? Vince?" Lexi sees him.
"Yeah. He worked with me and Tara." She says.
"He worked with Tara?" Amber asks.
"He's been stalking my Instagram the last couple of weeks, posting the creepiest shit." Liv adds.
"He's been DMing me shit asking if I want to meet up with him." Lexi shows Liv the DMs so she makes a face.
"Probably time to introduce him to Hobbs and Shaw." Chad shows his muscles off.
"Maybe not the best idea to incite violence right in front of the sheriff." Liv says and Amber points out Chad's bruises and he says they're from football practice.
"Tara's awake. She just texted." Wes looks at his phone and everyone but Liv goes with him.
Everyone was glad to see Tara was doing okay and Lexi said she was sorry for going home so Tara told he it's not her fault.
Later when Sam showed up with her boyfriend everybody hugs Sam, "These are Chad and Mindy the twins. And Wes and Lexi the other set of twins. I used to babysit them all." Sam introduces them to her boyfriend.
"Which is always how I like to be introduced." Wes says making his sister laugh while Sam says hi to Amber.
They all leave but Sam to give Tara some rest, "I say we go play some pool." Chad suggests.
"Oh, yes. Because that's smart." Lexi rolls her eyes walking ahead of everyone.
"What's her problem?" Chad asks because normally they were always super close. Well until he started dating Liv.
"Guilty she failed at killing Tara." Amber smiles.
"She didn't attack Tara, Amber!" Chad shouts at her, "She wouldn't do that to her." Chad walks off going after Lexi.
"Why is he so defensive towards her?"
"Because they used to be best friends." Mindy sighs knowing why they aren't close anymore.
While Lexi gets to the car Chad grabs her arm, "Look, I know you're worried about a killer out there but if we all just stick together."
"I'll give you that but why go out when Tara was attacked? She my best friend." She looks back at the hospital.
"Thought I was?"
"You're one of them just like Mindy. I can have more than one best friend." Lexi explains to him.
"I get that but for many years I was at the top of the list. Now I seem to be at the bottom of the list."
"I wonder why? And whose fault that is?" She looks at him, "You, Chad. You started acting weird and drifted a bit." She says as the rest catch up so Wes and her get in the car and head off to where everyone wanted to hangout.
Everyone hangs out at the pool table while Lexi stayed in sight wanting to be alone. "Why aren't you with your little friends?" Vince walks up to Lexi.
"Because I want to be alone and you are ruining that for me. So if you could please leave me alone?" Lexi plays with her drink.
"Come on, let's go have some fun."
"Dude, I don't know you like Liv does with y'all summer fling. All I know is you're older than us which makes you a creep named Vince." She give him a smile, "Who is related to Stu Macher. I did my digging because you keep messaging me. Your mom was his older sister." She says as the group over some ways talk about suspects.
"I still say it's Lexi." Amber looks at Wes.
"Why are you looking at me?" Wes asks confused, "Look over at Lexi with the guy that hooked up with Liv." He says pointing over at her, "Wait." He realizes who was talking to her.
"Hey, uglier Michael Myers. Leave her alone." Chad walks over to where the two were.
"Sorry but we're talking. You were over there with Liv. You can have her because I found somebody better." Vince walks forward.
"Umm, no you didn't." Lexi makes a face.
"I don't fucking care if you two are talking. Clearly she doesn't want anything to do with you." Chad gets closer to him.
"Lex, come on, babe." Vince touches Lexi's arm.
"Don't fucking talk or touch her. I don't want to fucking hear your god damn voice." Chad pulls Lexi about of her seat away from Vince.
"Shut the fuck up." Vince pulls out she switch blade.
"Stop it." Lexi pulls in Chad arm, "Vince, please stop." She begs him as the bartender tells everyone to get out.
"Did you see that shit?" Chad turns to the group.
"I can't believe you. I didn't need your fucking help Chad." Lexi hits his arm before heading out of the bar.
"You didn't need my help? He was clearly bothering you." He follows her.
"Okay, but I didn't ask for your help. You acted like a protective boyfriend which is stupid because I'm not your girlfriend, Liv is. And he wasn't even bothering her. Liv, did you think he needed to step in?" Lexi looks over at her standing with Wes and Mindy.
"She's right. She didn't need your help technically. They were just talking and she looked like she made it clear she wasn't leaving with him."
"Seriously? You're taking her side on this? Wes? Mindy?" Chad asks them now.
"I know Lexi and she can handle herself, Chad." Mindy tells her brother.
"If she needed help she would have came to us." Wes says in his sisters side.
"Sorry I was being a good friend." He looks back at Lexi.
"Wes, let's go home." Lexi gets in the car.
At home it was just Wes and Lexi so she just makes herself a snack to take to her room. "Okay, what's going on with you and Chad?" Wes walks into her room.
"He's that started acting different so we're just not super duper close anymore." She turn on her tv which Wes stands in front of, "Move dude."
"No. What even happened for things to change?"
"How am I supposed to know? I don't share a brain with him." She huffs.

What they don´t know, will hurt them
Summary: Dean Winchesters attempts suicide on a dirty motel bathtub, ending brain dead on a hospital. A trickster promises John and Sam that he will save him for “free”, as long as they both get through watching a series of Dean´s memories, good and bad. The twist is that they will feel everything Dean did at the time and they can stop it at any time, but then Dean will die. They both accept thinking it cant be that bad. Spoiler: it is worse.
Chapter 37
Sometimes, back when his sons were young, John used to fantasy on the What if´s? What if Mary hadn’t die? What if their house hadn’t burned down? What if his kids had grown up in a normal safe environment? Would Mary and him still be together? Would he still have had an unhealthy relationship with alcohol? Would Adam still exist? Would Sam had still loved school? Would he had still gone to law school at Stanford or would he have chosen a different path? Somehow the what if´s that kept him up at night weren’t these, the ones that prevented him from sleeping were the ones regarding his oldest. Would Dean had gone to college? Would he have been a scholar or a jock? Would he have been more social or have few trusted friends? John´s mind was full of what if´s, but perhaps if he had paid more attention to the reality, none of this would have happened.
The screen lights up once more, and Sam almost chokes recognizing which case their past selves are heading, would it have been too much to ask that they skipped this one? Back then, Sam hadn’t given any thought to his brother´s inner struggles, hadn’t really care to figure why Dean was so adamant to return to their childhood home, and yes, they have saved the day at the end, but Sam didn’t want to uncover the hurt he had put his brother trough.
The scene doesn’t stop though, and it shows Dean trying to find a new case, while “Sam” all but ignores him, drawing something in a note pad. Dean questions his brother, until “Sam” tells him that they need to go back to their childhood home, “Sam” shows his brother and old photo and suddenly sadness and nostalgia fill the room as Dean looks at it. “Sam” keeps talking on the background of the screen, but to Dean (and therefore the viewers) it sounds like miles away, until one sentence catches Dean attention and he snaps back of the trance he was in
-This is going to sound crazy, but the people who live in the house, I think they might be in danger.
-Why do you think that?- Dean asks confuse and nervous
-You gotta trust me on this okay?- “Sam” says ignoring Dean completely
-Trust you? Yeah, I think that I will need a little more than that- Dean says pissed off, but the nervousness is still there- I am not going anywhere until you explain
-I have these nightmares- “Sam” confesses- and sometimes they come true- he tells Dean and Dean´s face goes pale as “Sam” continues- I dreamt about Jessica´s death for days before it happened
-Sam- Dean says sitting down- People dream terrible thing all the time- he says but his voice is shaking
-I dreamt about the blood, about the ceiling, the fire, and now I am dreaming about some woman screaming for help, and that has to mean something- “Sam” says, Dean losing color the more he talks, and John wants to reach out inside the screen and hug his oldest, as he watches the lost look on his face
-I don’t know- Dean says looking lost, the world coming out slightly slurred
-What do you mean you don’t know?- “Sam” screams- This might be the thing that killed mom
-All right. Just slow down, would you?- Dean says, shaking slightly as he buries his nails inside his thighs, a movement only perceptible by the sting the Winchesters get. Dean stands up, and Sam cant honestly keep track of his brother´s feelings, before he exclaims- First you tell me, you got the Shining and then you tell me that I have to get back home. Especially when…
-When what?- “Sam” says
-When I swear myself that I would never go back there- Dean says, tone vulnerable and soft.
-Look, Dean, we have to check this out, just to be sure- “Sam” exclaims, and the mask goes up once more on Dean´s face as he nods and the scene ends.
And Sam wants to rage and shout and his past self for this, this alone is one crime he could never forgive himself, for once in his life Dean was letting the mask slip, his brother was as close as begging for him not to make him go, to the place where his life had burned overnight, and Sam refused him. The walls his brother put had quickly gone up, because Sam hadn’t care to find out what was wrong, he hadn’t care beyond some callous words, because he always had to be right, doesn’t he?
John takes a deep breath knowing what case his sons are working, and it would be a lie if he told himself that he wasn’t close to tears just by the opening. Before this “experience” he was too busy playing the victim to think what his sons had lost, but now, seeing the devastation on Dean´s face he had a clue of what was to come. He also remembered a particular voicemail that he hoped wouldn’t be shown (as if the Trickster would let him get away with it)
The scene progresses and this time it shows the brothers pulling over outside of the house, Dean´s house visibly shaking. They knock on the door, which is answer by the new tenant named Jenny. “Sam” introduces both of them with their real names, and the woman lets them in, telling them she found old pictures of them while cleaning the attic. The woman introduces the brothers to her kids and Dean tries to make small talk to fish for information but his attempts fall flat, with “Sam” having to take the lead. The awkwardness and discomfort Dean is feeling is felt by his family like invisible ants crawling inside their skins, and both of them wonder how Dean was able to stood there long enough without bolting.
Sari, Jenny´s daughter, tells the brothers that she saw a flaming figure and both brothers´ hearts almost stop. They make their excuses and rush out the door, with Dean almost tripping in his haste to get away, “Sam” hot on his heels, all but screaming at his brother his theories about how it might be the thing that killed their mom, with Dean rationalizing that they cant take the people out of the house without investigating more. The brothers drive away to a gas station, with “Sam” asking Dean how much he remembered about that night
-Not much- Dean says and somehow it tastes like a lie- I remember the fire. The heat. Then I carried you out the front door- he admits
-You did?- “Sam” asks surprised, and the Sam in the room feels a pang of hurt just thinking about it.
-Yeah, why, you never knew that?- Dean asks, with “Sam” shaking his head quietly, before Dean continues- And well, you know Dad´s story as much as I do, he found Mom- Dean says, before losing his voice for a couple of seconds and then continuing, with every word almost getting dragged out of him- Whatever out her there was long gone by the time Dad found her
-And he never had a theory about what did it?- “Sam” asks, and Sam gives a side glance to his dad, who avoid his eyes, they both know the answer to that
-If he did- and this sounds sarcastic in Dean´s tone- he kept it to himself. God knows we asked him enough times.
-Okay- “Sam” says with a small voice- So we have to figure out what happened that night and see if it is the same thing- the younger says before adding- Does this feel like a normal case to you?
-I will be right back- Dean says ignoring the question- I gotta go to the bathroom
Dean walks towards the bathroom, but only once he is away from “Sam” does he lets himself lose composure, his fingers tremble as he pulls his phone out of the pocket, a couple of stray tears falling from his eyes, as he dials a known number, getting the voicemail once more
-Dad- Dean says, voice breaking- I know I have left you messages before. I don’t even know if you get them. But I am with Sam and we are in Lawrence and there is something in our old house. I don’t know if it’s the thing that killed mom or not…but… I don’t know what to do- Dean says before breaking down- So whatever you are doing, if you could get here. Please. I need your help, dad- Dean pleads, before he hangs up the phone, and yes maybe, John should have expected the punch to the face that Sam gives him
-He asked for your help- Sam says, once the flow of blood slowed down- He practically begged for it and you refused.
-Sammy, I…-John says trying to excuse the inexcusable
-No, dad- Sam furiously says- Don’t even try to explain. Dean, who never asked anything from you, asked for your help and you ignored him, just like you ignore him every single need or want he has. What possibly stupid reason would you give, that would excuse this, huh?- Sam asks screaming
-I did go- John confesses and Sam has half a mind to punch his father again- But by the time that I arrived you two had practically solved the case
-So what?- Sam retorts- You didn’t think that perhaps you could have talked to us, instead of leaving us hanging?
-You have to understand, Sam- John tries to defend- The demon was after me, I was protecting you
-No, dad- Sam replies with a hollow voice- You were protecting yourself- he says and well what can John respond when presented with the truth
The memory continues as Dean slowly sinks in the ground, disappointment and desperation filling him, before shakenly pulling his phone out once more and making another call, the first sentence he says making John´s stomach turn
-Give me a reason why I shouldn’t just blow my brains out and be done with it?- Dean says as soon as the call connects on the other end
-Because your family will miss you- a familiar female voice tells him
-They wont care- Dean laughs humorless- Hell, they will probably be happy to get rid of my useless ass
-I will miss you- Faith responds
-You will get over it- Dean retorts, tears falling freely
-I wont, and that is something you cant refute, because it involves myself and you know it- she tells him- Also you will be flanking on your promise, and that is an insult to fae culture
-What are you gonna do?- Dean asks- Kill me? Make my life a living hell? Because trust me, it already is- he says, but even with the grim topic the Winchesters realize that Dean has finally stop shaking
-Maybe revive you- Faith answers- You know, as punishment- she says, getting a small laugh from Dean, before she asks- What happened?
-I am at Lawrence, in a case that involves my old house- Dean answers- I guess, I kind of got lost inside my head.
-Do you need help?- the Fae asks with no hesitation
-No- Dean says- At least I don’t think so, I think I just needed to talk to someone that would listen. Thank you- Dean tells her, with the tears finally stopping
-Happy to serve and be of service- Faith responds- And I am serious, if you need help, you can call at any time.
-Thank you, F- Dean says one more before disconnecting the call, as the scene ends
The fact that something (someone, his mind reprimands) that he would have called a monster and gank without a second thought shows more kindness and support to his son that his own father, hits something deep inside John. Because the truth is that there is a monster in this narrative, and he sees it everytime he looks in a mirror.
Sam, for his part, is stunned into silence. He never acknowledged Dean´s struggles with more than a path in the shoulder and perhaps a quick hug, and then proceed to never mention it again. He never knew how close he was to lose Dean (he never knew how close to the edge his brother was)
The memories continue this time showing the boys at the garage that John used to own, bringing back memories to the man that had long been forgotten. The brothers interrogate John´s partner at the garage asking him if he knew something about the Winchesters disappearance, the man tells them that after the fire John claimed that something caused the fire and killed Mary, even though it was an “accident”, starting to read odd books and seeing a psychic in town. Afterwards, “Sam” starts to research psychics in town with Dean recognizing the name of Missouri Moseley as one he had read at their dad´s journal, so they head to the woman´s house to speak to speak to her.
Missouri recognize them upon arrival, giving his condolences to “Sam”, while also telling them that she doesn’t know where their father is. Dean doesn’t take the news well and makes a verbal jab towards the psychic but she rebuts telling him that she can only read thoughts and energies. She tells the boys, she is the one that told him the truth about what was out there and if the Winchesters hadn’t been paying attention they would have missed the barely there resentment that Dean quickly feels and dismiss. He recovers quickly asking the woman if she knows what killed their mom, and she tells them that she went to the house with John looking for clues, but she doesn’t know what it was, only that it was evil. “Sam” tells her that they think the creature is back in the house and that it might be related with their missing father and Jessica´s death. Dean and Missouri both getting pale at hearing this.
The scene moves on, showing the boys and Missouri going to the old house. Jenny opens the door and tells them it is not a good time, Dean, clearly off his game, tries to interject but Missouri slaps him on the back of his head, and tries to explain to the frighten woman was going on. All in all, a normal for them conversation but a phrase that Missouri says repeats inside the Winchester´s head:
-Forgive the boy- Missouri says- He means well. He is just not the sharpest tool in the shed. Now hear me out…
But whatever she says next, they don’t quite hear, too busy getting confronted with Dean´s feelings of hurt and self-hate, that he quickly tries to contain to keep his mind on the game.
Whatever Missouri says works, because Jenny grants them access to the house. They climb to Sam´s nursey and for a moment Dean feels panic as he tries to do anything possible to block bad memories from resurging. Missouri tells them that it is not the same thing that kill their mom, but it is related. She thinks that the creature that is terrorizing the family is a poltergeist that was attracted by the evil energy related to the house and that there might be a second more benign spirit. She tells them that they need to purify the house to expulse the creature.
The three split up to cover more ground and Dean takes a deep breath as he starts to work, a noise is all the warning he gets as his instincts kick in managing to duck before a knife invades itself where his face was a second before, he doesn’t hesitate either using a table as a cover and managing to put the herbs in place. He rushes upstairs to find “Sam” getting strangled by a cord, that only stops when he puts the ingredients in the spot in the wall, a white light is seen before it disappears, with Missouri exclaiming that is finally over, even if “Sam” is not convinced.
“Sam” convinces Dean to park outside the house for the night, telling him that something isn’t right, with Dean secretly agreeing that things seem to have been too easy. “Sam” looks at the window and sees Jenny asking for help making the boys jump into action. Dean hurries to the woman´s bedroom trying and failing to open the door, before kicking it out, managing to get Jenny to safety, Jenny´s kids come out the door soon after, but there is no sign of “Sam”, the little girl claims something grab him, so Dean hurries and tries to enter the house taking down the door with an ax.
Dean enters the house, finding “Sam” and a fire figure, he goes to shoot but “Sam” stops him, and Dean´s heart (along with John´s) skips a beat at seeing his mom´s ghostly figure.
The sight leaves Dean speechless, with a wheel of emotions intermixing. The moment last only a few minutes tough and as quickly as Mary appears she disappears taking the poltergeist with her.
The scene jumps to the next morning showing Jenny thanking the brothers and giving Dean some photos she found. The nostalgia Dean feels is mixed with melancholy, before he locks them inside one of the boxes inside the trunk of the Impala, before he and “Sam” drive away closing the scene and finishing the memory.
Sam stares at the blank screen for a minute, trying to keep his emotions at check. Now more than anything, he regrets not having pay attention to his brother. Through the whole case, Dean was struggling, with reason, trying to keep his head in the game, without letting it show how it was affecting him. The nostalgia and melancholy still in the air, but there is bitterness in there too, bitterness at thinking of the life they could have had in another life, and Sam doesn’t know how to process this new information
There is something inherently broken in his family, John thinks, something he broke and never bother to try and fix. Because, back then Dean needed him more than ever, and he gave excuses once again to avoid confrontation, prioritizing once more his own feelings, telling himself that Dean was going to be okay. But Dean wasn’t okay and he hadn’t been okay for a while. And one day, near the future of the memory, his eldest would climb into a bathtub and (try to) kill himself and he wouldn’t ask for help, why would he? He had no reason to believe someone would help him.

Endangered | Chapter Fifteen
Paul Lahote x OFC
Endangered Masterlist
Summary: Vampires and wolves are not the only supernatural creatures to walk the earth, and they are certainly not the only ones in Forks, Washington when Charlotte Annabeth Swan, “Anna”, moves in with her uncle after the unfortunate demise of her parents.
Some may misidentify her as a witch, but that’s fine, she would rather them think that anyway. But the Volturi know the truth, and they are closing in on her.
Tumblr media
The way to start this conversation evades me. How do I tell Jacob that I have a secret too? He needs to know before he finds out through the pack telepathy, but I can’t stand to start another fight. Especially since this is the most normal it’s felt with him in months.
We walk along the edge of his property, under the slightly irritating eye of the pack and Billy. Both of us are silent, trying to find the words.
“So... Paul,” He starts, saving me from my thoughts.
“Yeah,” I sigh, “Paul.”
“It’s a real thing?”
“Of course, it’s a real thing, Jacob,” I quip, raising an eyebrow at him.
“You don’t feel like your choice has been taken away? When Sam described it, it sounded… bad.” He doesn’t sound accusatory like I expected. He sounds sad, almost defeated.
“No, it’s not bad, not to me. Paul really is my other half. We balance each other out. It sounds incredibly cliché, everything with him feels right,” I explain, looking over at Paul standing crossed-armed on the porch. I can feel a faint hum of worry coming from him, though his body language comes across as angry.
I think Paul just lets people believe he has an explosive temper because it protects him from the truth. He can’t bear to see the people he cares about hurt. With fewer people willing to get close to him, the less opportunity for pain.
“But he imprinted on you,” Jacob says, his concern breaking my train of thought, “Do they just expect whoever they imprint on to go with it?”
“No, it’s not one-sided, Jake. You know, it’s actually pretty common, the idea of fated mates.”
This piques his curiosity. “Pretty common?”
“Yeah… in supernatural creatures,” I bite my lip, preparing for what comes next, “Most have their own versions of imprinting.”
“How do you know that?” he asks skeptically.
I stop walking, turning to face him, “Because… I am one. I’m not entirely human.”
“What?” Jacob says breathily, a look of confusion on his face.
“I just want you to know, when we met, I had no idea that you would shift, or that even the Quileute’s had magic, or I would have told you. It’s been really hard not saying anything, especially when you were so upset with me,” my words spill out of my mouth faster than my brain can process them in a panic.
“Anna, what are you saying?”
“I’m saying… I’m saying that I am… I have magic,” I stutter out.
“You have magic?” He gives me an incredulous look.
“Yes,” I say, shoulders deflating.
It’s silent for a moment while Jacob looks me over frantically.
“How?” he asks.
“My mom. She was a Fae Creature, which makes me half-Fae.”
“You’re joking,” he says looking away from me.
“I’m not,” I plead.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because I couldn’t. The only people who knew were my parents. Then the Cullen’s basically snuffed me out at the beginning of the school year. Then I met Paul, so now they know. It all kind of spiraled before I knew it.”
Jacob doesn’t respond.
“That’s not all,” I whisper, fingers pinching the bridge of my nose.
“Great.”
“I said that imprinting isn’t just one-sided, which is true, but for me, it’s reciprocated on my end. Fae create soul bonds with people. Paul is mine.”
He just scoffs. In the beat of silence, we continue our pace around the tree line.
“You really didn’t know this would happen to me?” Jacob speaks up.
I shake my head, “No, I didn’t, and when I found out, I wasn’t allowed to tell you.”
“That’s fucked.”
“Yeah, it is,” I nod, “You aren’t mad at me?” I question gently.
Jacob shrugs, eyes on the ground, “I don’t know. This is just a lot.”
“You’re right, it is, I just didn’t want you to find out from anyone but me.”
“At least there’s that.” He nudges my shoulder, giving me a half-hearted smile. I sigh with relief.
“I’m sorry Jake.”
“I am too, I was pretty awful to you,” he frowns.
I shrug noncommittedly, “I got over it pretty quickly.”  I figure that would make him feel better, but his brow furrows even more.
“I don’t deserve that,” he huffs out.
“Maybe, but I’m sure Paul will already give you grief about it. You don’t need to hear it twice, Jacob. Really, we can move past it.”
At the mention of Paul, Jacob balks a bit and looks up the house. Paul is not so subtly watching us still.
“Ugh, yeah. Does this mean I have to deal with him now?” He feigns annoyance, but his tone is twinged with worry,
“Sure does, but I genuinely think you guys will get along.”
“Hmph.”
“Welcome to the gang Jake,” I say slapping him on the shoulder as we make our way back to the house.
“That’s not funny,” he states.
“Oh, on the contrary, it is very funny.”
Jacob rolls his eyes, making me laugh. Maybe things will start to get better now, a semblance of normalcy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Jacob and Paul stare at each other from across the table. Paul doesn’t break the eye contact as Jacob shifts uncomfortably. There’s no malice in his stare, just caution.
It’s just the two of them here, Sam had made the decision that they needed to clear the air. The tension through the pack bond was too distracting while they were tracking down a particular vampire who had managed to evade them at every turn. With flashes of red hair all they could really make of her; they knew this one was deadly. More cunning than any other vampire they had encountered before.
Jacob had gotten control of his shifts fairly quickly, faster than any of the other boys. After officially giving up his right as alpha to Sam, he fell into the rhythm of the pack naturally. All except for Paul, they both held a lot of tension towards each other.
Paul did give him grief about Anna. Paul, through the bond, had shown Jake all the struggles Anna had gone through in the last few months. Jacob had no idea how deep Bella’s depression went, and how much Anna had taken on as part of that.
“She needed a friend,” Paul finally speaks up.
“She has you,” Jake responds, guilt rising in his throat, making him defensive.
“Yeah, she does, but she missed you. You were the first person she connected with when she moved here.”
“I have already apologized,” Jacob sighed, crossing his arms over his chest.
Paul scoffs, “She would never say it out loud, but she feels like you chose Bella over her.”
This makes Jacob sit straight up in his chair.
“I didn’t,” he defends.
“It seems like it.”
“Bella came to me, not the other way around.”
“Don’t get me started on that,” Paul rolls his eyes.
“What’s your problem with her?” Jacob’s voice rises, and Paul raises an eyebrow at him, noting his reaction.
“She’s self-centered,” he states plainly.
“She’s going through something.”
“Yeah, her vampire boyfriend, who she protected, by the way, moved away after the leaches put both their lives in danger, and she completely broke down and left Anna to pick up the pieces.”
Jacob doesn’t have a response to that.
“Maybe if we told Bella-” he starts, but Paul cuts him off.
“Absolutely not. The pack is the only support system Anna has besides Charlie. I’m not going to let you ruin that by bringing Bella into this. Besides, Alpha’s orders, no one knows.”
“Then why did you get to tell Anna? Jared and Kim?”
“That’s different and you know it,” he says through clenched teeth.
Jacob groans and slumps into his seat.
“We don’t know if it’s different,” Jacob mutters.
Paul recognizes the sadness in his voice, and he sighs deeply. He wills the tension in his body to release as he leans closer to Jacob.
“Look,” Paul hesitates, his voice taking on a gentler tone, “Maybe I am being too hard on you, but Anna… she is everything to me. She is my whole world. Do you know what it felt like to watch her crumble over those few months? Pushing herself to exhaustion just to make sure she could protect her family? Seeing the light slowing being sucked from her? It physically hurt.” He pauses. Jacob can see he is uncomfortable being this honest about Anna and his feelings.
Paul clears his throat and continues, “Anna loves you, and she will suffer silently just for you to be happy. She will put herself on the line for all of us without even thinking. Her self-preservation doesn’t exist, Jake. If I’m not right behind her to catch her when she inevitably falls, she would break. Emotionally and physically.”
“Why not just put yourself on the line instead?” Jacob questions.
A dry laugh rips from Paul’s throat, “You don’t think I’ve tried? She’s stubborn to a fault. Jacob, we might be physically stronger and faster than her, but she is more powerful. She doesn’t let on about it, because she is worried about putting people in danger, but I can feel it. She is a force to be reckoned with, she just doesn’t know it.”
“Yeah… she is.”
“I do my best to keep her safe, and around you, I can’t help but get the feeling she’s in danger of getting hurt,” Paul levels with him, leaning back in his chair and exhales.
“Hurt? I would never hurt her,” Jacob cries out, flinching at the thought.
“Maybe not physically, but you’ve already managed to hurt her emotionally,” Paul points out. This deflates Jacob.
“I’m sorry. I know I fucked up, and I know it’s going to take more than an apology to fix it, but I mean it when I say I regret it all,” he admits.
Paul nods, “I know. Just, be her friend. Let her know you’re there for her. She’s always going to be there for you.”
“I am her friend,” he quips.
“Then, act like it.”
Jacob just nods, Paul stands up, clapping a hand on his shoulder.  The tension between them chipped away. While still present, they understand each other more now.
“I know none of us wanted this life, but I’m glad you can at least be a part of hers now,” Paul says genuinely.
“I am too.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
“Is Charlie going to lecture me about this?” Paul asks me, fingers gently trailing up and down my side. We were on the couch, my back pressed against his chest on a late Friday morning. I skipped school for a needed mental health day. The past week had been such a roller coaster between Jacob and Bella, I just needed a day alone with Paul.
“No, mainly because he doesn’t know yet,” I shrug.
“Anna!” Paul gapes.
“It’ll be fine! I’m going to text him and tell him I don’t feel good and left. I’m 18, I can sign myself out.”
Paul groans and playfully pushes me away as I grip the edge of the sofa.
“Hey! You’re going to make me fall!”
His arm wraps back around my waist, “You know I wouldn’t let you fall,” he whispers into my ear.
“I actually don’t know that. You have a very twisted sense of humor,” I whisper back. I feel his chest vibrate with a laugh.
“I’m hurt.”
“Good,” I say, turning to face him, “Are you excited about your birthday next week?” I say gently and am met with a groan, Paul hiding his face by leaning on my shoulder.
“Hey!” I say, “Twenty is a big deal!”
“Yeah, now instead of being a teenager with no plans for the future, I’ll be twenty with no plans for the future,” he mumbles into me, not lifting his head.
“That’s not true,” I lift his head gently and kiss him softly, “We’ve talked about the future, what we want to do after this.”
His face hardens and he lets out a sharp sigh, sitting up abruptly, but still making sure I was steady.
“Yeah, but it’s just talking Anna. You’re going to college; you’re going to do something with your life. And I’ll be here, holding you back, dragging you down by being stuck here,” he rubs his eyes as I scoot up to a sitting position. I don’t want to argue with him about how he feels in La Push. We both know he won’t be able to leave until the vampire situation calms down yet again, and there’s no real timeline on that.
I hesitate, deciding to focus on the other part of his complaint, “About that… I actually don’t think I’m going to go to college right away. So please don’t worry about feeling like you are holding me back. You aren’t.”
“What?” he snaps, looking at me with a shocked expression.
“Yeah,” I continue, “I’ve been thinking about it. I want to take a gap year. I just think it would be too much for me. It hasn’t been long since my parents died, and major life changes give me anxiety. Adjusting to yet another new place is overwhelming to think about. I think I just want to have a quiet year. I know we might not get “quiet” in the traditional sense. But I would feel better staying around Forks. Take some time to figure out what I want, what we want.”
“When did you decide this?” He questions. I was worried he was going to react badly to this, but instead, he was looking at me like he understands. He’s not mad at all, he feels relief and then guilt.
“Around the time I got control of my inheritance.” I flinch mentioning yet another thing I haven’t told him about.
“Inheritance?”
I nod, “Yeah, my parents left me everything. I just wasn’t allowed access until I was 18.”
I can see the question in his eyes.
“It’s… a lot. Honestly, I was just as shocked as you are. College will be paid for whenever I decide to go. If I want to, I can be comfortable without it. I can take the year.”
“How? You didn’t tell me you were rich,” he states with a frown.
“I’m not, at least, I didn’t grow up like I was. We laid low for the most part. I guess it makes sense thinking back. It’s easy to hide when you have the funds. They just never told me, and I never asked.”
I pause, “I realize that makes me sound like an entitled brat, but really, we just never talked about money.”
Paul is uncomfortable, I can feel it. Money is a touchy subject for a lot of people.
“Listen, my mom was very old when she met my dad, she didn’t age until she gave up her magic. She had who knows how many decades to save and collect. I’m sorry I didn’t say anything sooner, it was just a lot to go through with Charlie and their lawyer.”
Paul’s eyebrows shoot up at the mention of my mom.
“Wait, what about you?”
“What do you mean?” I ask, tilting my head.
“Will you also not age?”
“Oh,” I gulp, “I probably will. So far it’s been normal.”
“Probably?”
I sigh, “I don’t really know, not many people like me exist, it’s always kind of been a guess. Most Fae stop aging when they reach maturity. The people with less Fae blood than me, when able to live and die of old age, usually live into the early 100’s.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about this?” He stands up.
“Because I knew it would lead to the discussion of whether or not you would keep shifting. I don’t want my life span to be a part of that choice,” I stand up too, grabbing his hands in mine.
“I don’t think it is a choice, Anna,” he shakes his head, fingers intertwining with mine.
“It should be,” I breathe.
“What would it do to you if I died?”
I freeze, and my heart skips a beat even thinking about it.
“Exactly,” he says. He could feel my reaction, and I curse under my breath. Placing my hand on the side of his face, I stare into his eyes earnestly.
“You hate this, Paul,” I say softly, “You shouldn’t continue to shift if you don’t want to.”
“I love you more,” he says unblinking. I am the one to break eye contact, resting my forehead on his chest. He kisses the top of my head and his hands run down my back.
“It’s not fair that I am torturing you like this,” I insist.
“I would gladly be tortured if it means more time with you,” Paul responds, voice firm, “I am completely yours, Anna. I would do anything and everything for you.”
That leaves me speechless.
“Think about the silver lining. If they’re lucky, most people get a few decades with the person they love. We can have so much time together,” he continues.
He pauses, lifting my head and tucking my hair behind my ear, before whispering, “I don’t have to lose you.”
“You don’t think I’ve ruined your life?” I gasp out. He presses a bruising kiss onto my lips, hands holding my head.
“Never baby, you could never. But I wish you told me sooner,” he whispers into the kiss.
“I’m sorry,” I say, but he just shakes his head, shushing me with his lips.
When he pulls away, he begins again, “Besides, soul connections span across lifetimes, right?”
I nod.
“Good. One lifetime could never be enough. I’ll get love you in every version of us.”

Low Expectations
Bucky Barnes x Reader
Chapter 4
Warning: swearing, angst & fluff
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Y/N ran into Terri Sunday night, Terri started to ask about her date but stopped when she saw her face blotchy and eyes red from crying.
Terri bristled "What did he do? I swear I'll kill him."
Y/N shook her head "It was me. He asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes but after I got home my brain started and I freaked. Spoke to him earlier and told him I like him and want to keep seeing him but I'm not ready to commit.
Terri, he sounded so sad and I feel awful. I've never been treated so well and I'm afraid he's too good to be true. I fucked it up all by myself" she broke into tears. "I tried to call him but it went straight to voicemail."
Terri hugged her "Oh, honey what am I going to do with you? You have to stop letting your mind run away with you like that. You are just as deserving of love as anyone else, more than some. Send him a text telling him you're sorry for freaking out and would like to talk to him when he's up for it. And take a mental health day tomorrow, we'll eat junk and watch sappy movies. I'll make you those on the rocks margaritas like your mom taught me"
"I miss her so much. I still can't believe she died and I wasn't here to take care of her."
Terri rubbed her back. "I know, I know but you still have me." She snickered "I could call aunt Kathy if you want"
Y/N pulled away and gave Terri a dirty look "Don't even joke about that. She thinks the only way to mend a broken heart is to get laid by at least a dozen people. I'm just not like that. Besides she's in Florida and I don't want to give her any excuses to come up here.
The next afternoon, Bucky was guzzling tequila for the second day in a row, wishing he knew how to get in touch with Thor when his doorbell rang. He grumbled as he got up and answered it.
"Sam, what are you doing here? I'm not in the mood to talk to anyone." He left the door open and sat back on the floor.
Sam looked around "Dude! What is that smell? How much have you had to drink?"
"Not enough, I'm still sober"
Sam shook his head "I'm here to check on you because you were supposed to pick me up from the airport. And why the Hell are you trying to get drunk? Wasn't your big date the other night." Sam paused
"Shit, was it bad? What happened?"
Bucky sighed "I'm sorry, I forgot. The date was perfect, at least I thought it was. She said she would be my girl and we had a really good time."
Sam nodded "Ok that all sounds good so what's the problem?"
Bucky teared up a little "I called her yesterday afternoon, just to see how she was and she changed her mind."
Sam looked confused "What do you mean she changed her mind?"
"She said she isn't ready for a commitment yet. Insisted it was her, not me, and that she still likes me and wants to see me but. Fuck! I'm wracking my brain trying to figure out what I did wrong. I thought it went really well. I thought she might be my person."
Sam thought for a minute "Didn't you say she has self esteem issues? Because of guys she's dated and because Terri always gets all the attention when they go out, right? Maybe she's like you and got caught up in her own head. Like thinking it's all too good to be true, you know."
Bucky nodded "I mean yeah but I tried to be perfect. Do and say all the right things"
"Exactly. You're this good looking, superhero with greatest generation manners. For someone who has been treated badly or taken for granted that would seem too good. Maybe give her a couple of days and call her, see if she wants to go out again."
"She tried to call me last night but I didn't answer. I want to talk to her but I'm scared." Bucky shook his head "What if she says no and tells me to leave her alone?"
Sam chuckled "From what you've told me I doubt it but if she did then at least you would know. Come on, take a shower and I'll buy you dinner."
"Thanks Sam but I'm not up for going out"
"We don't have to go anywhere, I can order in but I'm not staying here unless you wash your ass. You reek" Sam held his nose for emphasis.
"Fine. I'm not really hungry but we can hang out for awhile. Lemme go shower." Bucky said despondently
Meanwhile Terri and Y/N were half drunk, eating chocolate like it had divine healing properties and laughing at A Fish Called Wanda.
"What would I do without Monty Python and everyone involved?" Y/N asked "Those guys always make me laugh."
Terri pouted "Yeah, I still can't get into British humor but this movie is pretty funny. Kevin Kline is so perfect in this.'Asshole!!'"
Y/N looked at her with a gleam in her eye. "Let's see if BBC America has some Benny Hill when this is over."
Terri shook her head "Oh come on. Let's watch The Notebook next"
"No, no, no. I refuse to watch such emotionally manipulative tripe."
Terri scowled at her "How do you know its tripe if you've never seen it? It's really good. And you like Beaches, it's pretty manipulative."
"Not the same. It's about best friends not pining after some guy. Besides I saw Beaches with my mom before I was old enough to know better. Plus, Bette Midler is a BadAss and one of my heroes. She gives zero fucks about what others think of her. Like Pink. I wish I could be like that."
Terri rolled her eyes "Fine but no Benny Hill, he was just a dog. How about the Mummy movies? Brendan Frasier is always fun to watch."
Y/N thought for a minute "This compromise is acceptable to me as long as you don't want to watch the last one where they recast Evy. That lady had no chemistry with Brendan at all.
Do you think I should send Bucky another text? He never responded to the one I sent last night or when I tried to call him. Maybe that's his answer and I blew it before it even really started. Maybe I'm going to be alone forever. Maybe-"
Terri cut her off "Didn't I tell you we aren't doing that? I said give him a couple of days. It's been one day. I'm sure with his history he's had challenges dating in the future. Remember you told me he was sure you would walk away because he was the Winter Soldier? He might be struggling too and not ready to talk.
Honestly, the more I think about it the more I'm convinced that you two are meant to be. He'll call, by the end of the week. Just you wait."
By Thursday Bucky and Y/N were both antsy waiting to hear from the other. Bucky had helped Sam on a mission in Texas, some militia with weapons they definitely shouldn't have been able to get a hold of, for a couple of days but got home around dinner time. Working had helped keep his mind off of Y/N but coming home to his empty apartment brought it all back. He checked his phone and read her last message again. Fuck it he thought, I'll just call her.
Terri and Y/N were eating dinner when her phone rang. She saw it was Bucky and grinned, then froze. "It's James. What do I say to him?"
Terri looked at her "Maybe start with Hi. Before he gives up, don't just stare at the phone"
Y/N dropped her phone trying to answer and it went to voicemail before she could answer it "Jesus, I'm shaking too much. I can't do this, Terri."
"Nope, you absolutely can. Call him back!" Terri insisted
"What if he's calling to tell me he changed his mind? What if he thinks I'm too much?"
"No! You're doing it again. Call. Him. Back. Right now. I'll give you some privacy but I better hear you talking to him or I'll have to do something drastic." Terri got up and went to her room
Y/N took a drink, tried to calm her breathing and called. She almost started crying when it went to voicemail and jumped when it started ringing again.
"Hello? James are you there?"
"Hey, Y/N. How are you?"
She tried to answer but couldn't make any sound come out. What finally came out was a squeak and then a sob. She still couldn't form words.
"Y/N? Are you ok? Are you still there? You're scaring me, doll. Please say something" Bucky pleaded.
She finally spit out "I'm sorry, I don't mean to get so emotional. I was worried when I didn't hear from you. I'm sorry about what I said. Sometimes I get caught up in my head and act stupid. I'm kind of a mess."
Bucky smiled "It's ok. I totally understand, that's a bad habit of mine too. I just got home from a thing with Sam, and I was away the last couple of days. How is your week going?"
She tried to calm her breathing "Pretty unexciting. Terri and I hung out and watched movies on Monday and the rest has been work.
Would you like to-"
"Do you want to-"
They both laughed "You first, doll."
"I was wondering if you wanted to get together this weekend."
Bucky laughed "That's what I was going to ask."
"I'll take that as a yes" she smiled
"Definitely a yes. When are you available?"
She thought for a moment "I dont have anything planned this weekend besides the usual housework and errands. Terri is going out of town so, you could come over here for dinner on Saturday. I'm not a great cook but make a mean spaghetti. And I can bake up a storm. I'll make my grandma's pound cake."
Bucky smiled "That sounds wonderful. What time should I be there?"
"Late afternoon? Early evening? Anytime after 3pm should be fine. I should be able to get my housework done and go to the store before that."
"Then its a date. I'll see you Saturday doll."
Tumblr media
On the morning of the field trip, Sam set her alarm early to make sure she got up before her mom thought about knocking on her door. That way, she wouldn’t have to worry about her mom sitting on the edge of her bed and attempting to smooth things over again. She’d tried that the last few days, and had only given up each morning after Sam would only mutter one-word answers and then say she had to get ready for school.
Today, however, Sam didn’t want to deal with the heavy feeling of guilt in her chest that came with the sad, pitiful look on her mom’s face in the mornings. She wanted to feel light and happy and yes, a little afraid, but in a way that made her feel giddy. Like she was walking a tightrope in her dreams or sneaking out past curfew.
It wasn’t so bad, was it? She was just going on a field trip. Maybe she could even tell her mom about it years later, and it’d be something they would laugh about. A confession far in the future over brunch. ‘Remember when you wouldn’t let me go on field trips? Well…’
For now, though, it was a secret. Top secret. She didn’t even tell her grandpa, and she told him most things. But he would definitely tell her mom. Not because he agreed with her being so overprotective, but because he thought talking it out was always a better solution than keeping secrets.
He just didn’t understand how weird her mom was about all this.
Sam sighed and pulled her hair into a ponytail, which she topped with a red and black Harley Quinn scrunchie Elisa had picked up online. Sam wanted to dress up ridiculously cute for the circus, but it might make her mom suspicious if she went from wearing whatever she could throw on quick enough for the past few days and suddenly came downstairs all glammed up.
So, her outfit was more laid back than she wanted it. A plain black dress with a light gray sweater underneath. The scrunchy was her compromise in terms of flashy, cute color. It was sort of circus-themed. Well, Harley Quinn themed, but that was close enough. Besides, it didn’t really matter what she wore to the circus. She was just excited--and scared--to go in the first place.
It would only be an hour or so, and she’d be on her way.
She glanced down at her phone to double check the time and saw a missed call from her dad. He called twice… at 3 AM. He must have forgotten about the time zone difference--again.
Her dad didn’t used to travel. But his new job made him go all over the place. He told her that once he got a promotion, he’d be able to pick one spot and settle down. She wasn’t sure how she felt about that. Would it mean getting shuffled in between her mom and dad’s all the time? Would her mom be mad if she wanted to have Christmas with her dad one year? Would her dad be mad if she decided to stay in Evansburg because of school and friends?
She wished they didn’t get divorced. I mean, most kids wished that, didn’t they? But they had been happy, before. It wasn’t like they’d fought all the time or anything. They both worked and took care of her. Sometimes her dad left dishes in the sink too long and sometimes her mom was reading a book when her dad was talking to her.  But every couple had problems like that, right? They always apologized in the end. It wasn’t a big deal.
But then grandpa had his stroke and everything seemed to fall apart. Her parent’s marriage. Her life.
Sam chewed on the inside of her lip and shoved all those thoughts where she couldn’t reach them for a while. Today wasn’t a day to think about that.
Today was a day to go to the circus.
--
Breakfast was a quiet affair, even though grandpa Roger was up and about and had made Sam her favorite breakfast in the entire world: chocolate chip pancakes with homemade butter and a side of bacon and eggs.
“For extra protein,” Roger had said, giving Sam a smile when he plated up her dish.
She ate heartily, despite the knot in her stomach. It wasn’t a certainty if that awful little knot was tightening because of guilt, fear of getting caught, or a healthy dose of both. Although her desire to get out of the house as quickly as possible definitely helped speed her appetite along.
As soon as I get on that bus, I’ll stop feeling so worried, Sam thought. She’d sit by Elisa and Owen and they’d be all smiles because she, Samantha Adler, was finally going on a field trip with them. They’d get to the circus, have a great time, and get back to school with no one the wiser about what she’d done. She could make up with her mom after school and things would go back to normal.
Easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy.
When she was done with breakfast, Sam dropped her dishes in the sink and grabbed her backpack in a rush to get out the door.
“Sam?”
Sam froze. It was her grandpa, not her mom, who called out.
She turned, smiling. Grandpa Roger was standing in the entryway with an almost remote expression on his face. He looked worried. Or tired, maybe.
He held out her lunch bag. She didn’t always bring it, since her school had started serving free hot lunches, but she kept it in just in case she wanted to bring something in.
“You didn’t have to, grandpa,” she said. There was a little pang of guilt in her chest. He got up early to make her favorite breakfast and he packed her a lunch? He was probably trying to make her feel better because she wasn’t going to the circus.
Roger’s eyes looked far away as Sam took the lunch box. He rubbed his hands and Sam looked down to see him rubbing the scar in between his thumb and forefinger. Back-and-forth, back-and-forth It had always been there, but she didn’t know where it came from.
“Just felt like you might need something special today,” he said slowly.
Sam forced a smile and choked down her guilt. She gave him a kiss on the cheek. “Okay, grandpa. Thank you. I love you.”
She turned to leave–
“Sam.” This time, it was her mom, standing in the open doorway that led to the kitchen.
Sam looked at her mom for what felt like forever. Did her mom know? Maybe the teacher called to confirm and Sam was caught out.
But her mom just smiled, although her eyes weren’t in it, and it felt like an empty smile.
“Have a good day at school. We can talk when you get home, okay?”
Sam had the sudden, sweeping urge to run up to her mom and hug her until her ribs threatened to break. But then she remembered she was supposed to be mad at her mom about not going to the circus today, and she stopped herself.
She cleared her throat and pretended that she’d be stuck in school while everyone else was at the circus. A trick that Owen texted her last night, when she’d been panicking about accidentally giving away today’s plans. He said it’d make her sound more authentic.
“Yeah, whatever.” She saw a flash of hurt in grandpa Roger’s eyes and looked back at her mom with some genuine guilt. Her mouth felt dry, even though she’d drunk a whole glass of orange juice. Why was she being so mean? Her mom was unreasonable, but…
Sam muttered a goodbye to no one in particular she ran out the door with her lunchbox clenched between her fingers.
With each step down the stairs and down the sidewalk towards her school, she came closer to getting on the bus.
She came closer to going to the circus.
If Sam hadn’t forged her mom’s signature on the permission slip, she would have been heading to first period like every other day. But instead of going into the school, she made a beeline for the bus drop-off line and met up with Owen and Elisa.
Both of them broke into huge grins as soon as they saw her.
“Congratulations!” Elisa said, slapping Sam’s back. Elisa was wearing a pair of green overalls with a flannel shirt underneath. “I can’t believe you actually got away with it.”
Sam felt her face get hotter. “Shh!” She looked around, but no one seemed to hear. Everyone was either talking with their friends, making videos, or scrolling on their phone. “Don’t mess this up right before we get on the bus!”
Elisa laughed and zipped her lips with her fingers. “Sorry, sorry. But I’ve been waiting for this day for like, ever. Your first field trip! And it’s with both of us!” She linked her arm with Owen’s, and then linked her other with Sam’s.
She kept them like that, despite Sam and Owen protesting, until it was time to line up formally so that Mr. Wheeling could get a headcount as everyone went on the bus. Elisa was up, and she glanced at Sam and gave a thumb’s up before she got on. Owen didn’t look back–he was too busy yelling at Elisa to make sure she saved three seats, not two.
And then it was Sam’s turn.
Sweat dripped down the back of Sam’s neck. This was it. The moment of truth. Either she’d get on this bus and go to the circus or…
Mr. Wheeling’s eyebrows went up a little when Sam stepped up. But he flipped through his folder and tapped his pen on the permission slip that Sam had given him and smiled.
“Well, glad to have you with us, Sam. Owen and Elisa can fill you in on field trip etiquette.”
Sam laughed shortly, nervously, and climbed the stairs of the bus.
The bus was filled with chattering classmates. She gazed down the aisle until she saw Elisa frantically waving her hands in a dramatic fashion. Owen was sitting in the seat in front of Elisa,
“You’ll sit with me on the way and Owen on the back,” Elisa clarified. “We discussed this extremely important seating arrangement before you even got here today. And when we get to the circus, you’ll sit in the middle, so we can make sure no one tries to snatch you or something.”
“And of course we’ll stick together if we’re allowed to do things on our own,” Owen added. He had his hair down today and was wearing a t-shirt featuring Pennywise from IT and jeans. Sam reminded herself to point out her Harley Quinn scrunchie later; at least she wasn’t the only one wearing something vaguely circus themed.
“What if I want to sit with myself? Or do something alone?” Sam asked, suddenly.
Elisa’s eyebrows quirked up, and she waved her hands. “Don’t be silly. You always sit with one of us at school, and I’m not letting you run off by yourself. Anyway!”
Elisa and Owen began telling Sam about what to expect on the trip, but she admittedly wasn’t really paying attention. She was thinking about her mom. And her grandpa.
Oh yeah, she thought. The lunchbox . I wonder what he packed, she thought. Probably a sandwich or something else equally as delicious. Sandwiches were his go-to school lunch, but they were never boring like plain ol’ PB&Js or baloney. His sandwiches had handmade bread and home-roasted meats or homemade jams and specialty peanut butter.
She pulled the lunchbox out from her backpack, then paused. Strange. The front pouch of the lunchbox had a hard spot on it. Maybe an ice pack? She unzipped it and shoved her fingers inside.
But there wasn’t an ice pack. Instead, she pulled out her grandmother’s watch. Why on earth did grandpa Roger put that in her lunch box?
“Oh,” she blurted. “That’s weird.”
Owen and Elisa stopped talking.
“What’s weird?” He asked, peering over the back of the seat.
“My grandpa put my grandma’s watch in here.”
She held up the watch. It was an old fashioned thing, with all sorts of bells and whistles, even a compass. “It doesn’t even work.”
Elisa took it from Sam’s hand and poked at the buttons, but of course, nothing turned on. The watch had never worked, as far as Sam recalled. Her mom wore it sometimes. Like when her grandpa was in the hospital. It tended to appear on her mom's wrist when she seemed stress, which made sense to Sam.
“This was your grandma Zelda’s watch?” Elisa asked, handing it back to her.
Sam shook her head. “No, it was my mom’s mom’s. Grandpa’s first wife. She died when my mom was 10 or 11, I think.” For a moment, Sam thought about putting the watch on. Then she felt silly. It didn’t work, what would be the point? The watch fit easily back into the small pouch of the bag, and she zipped it up for safekeeping. Her mom would definitely lose her mind if anything happened to the watch.
“Maybe he didn’t want you to be late for class,” Elisa joked. Owen snorted. They both knew Sam was never late for class.
Owen turned around in his seat. Sam leaned up and saw what she expected: he was working on videos for his theater TikTok. She didn't know why he stuck himself in tech when what he really wanted to do was act. Maybe she could convince him to audition for the school musical in the spring.
For now, though, she wanted to find out what her grandpa had packed for her lunch. She opened up the main pouch of her bag and was delighted by what she found inside. There were two sandwiches labeled “Turkey” and “Salami,” a bag of her favorite crackers, three mandarin oranges, and a piece of homemade bread wrapped up in plastic. Yum.
She was about to zip the bag back up when she realized there was something stiff in the middle of the bag, shoved in between the two sandwiches. She thought it was a piece of cardboard at first, but then she pulled it out.
It was a book.
A thin book, with an old-fashioned cloth cover. There was nothing on the front but the title in gold letters that were so faded that it was a bit hard to read. But with some maneuvering in the light, she was able to make it out.
Small Spaces.
She opened the book to the first page. It was a copyright page, which said the book was printed in 1895.
“Woah,” she said. “This book is old. Really old. Why does my grandpa have this?”
“Why he put it in your bag is the better question,” added Elisa. But she didn’t seem to really care about the book. She was watching eagerly as Mr. Wheeling got on the bus and gave his usual spiel about no standing, no shouting, and no chewing gum on the way to the circus.
Sam flipped impatiently to a few pages in. It was written like a diary, and the language was a bit fancy. It reminded Sam of the Pride & Prejudice series they watched in Owen’s basement earlier that summer. “This is the good one,” he said, although neither Sam or Elisa knew what the “bad” Pride & Prejudice would be exactly.
As Sam read a bit on the page, she felt goosebumps creep up her arm. From the slight chill of the open windows, maybe. Or because the words were genuinely unnerving.
“There—the candle is guttering. Lights flicker, you know, when they are near. Sometimes I hope desperately that Jonathan is with them. That he has never left me at all. But mostly I hope he is safely dead, and that I will see him in the next world.
Because the alternative is so much worse.
God bless you, my dear. Even if this story seems strange, I beg you will read it. For my sake.”
Well that’s creepy, Sam thought. It didn’t seem like the sort of stuff that her grandpa usually read. Maybe it was her mom’s book. Or her grandma’s. That would make sense, if he was having some memory problems today, that he might pack her watch and book in a bag.
“And remember,” Mr. Wheeling finished his speech while holding up a finger in a mock-stern manner. “I will feed you to the circus animals if you embarrass me on this trip.”
The class let out a resounding, teasing jeer and Mr. Wheeling laughed before taking his seat behind the bus driver. Sam didn’t jeer, but smiled anyway. It was nice to finally get an idea of what other people did on field trips. Everyone seemed to be ready to have a good time. Even the teacher. It wasn’t like Mr. Wheeling was super mean or anything in class, but he seemed in a lighter mood than usual.
The school bus suddenly roared to life. The smell of engine exhaust sifted through a few of the open windows as the bus began to plod its way to the old fairgrounds, where a circus had been set up for all ages to enjoy.
Sam put the book back into the bag. Maybe she’d read a bit more on the way, but for now she wanted to enjoy the feeling of the autumn breeze, the faint scent of the bus engine, and the chatter of her classmates.
In less than half an hour, they would be at the circus. And she was going to have the time of her life.
