Idk if anyone has noticed but my banner is a photo from an op shop near me where I found a complete works of Oscar Wilde book with a “to x, 194-“ date on the inside (I’m assuming 1948 onwards as that’s the publishing date on the copy)

Which author do you own the most books of?
Hmmm...that's a good question because I'm not 100% sure. Unfortunately, I don't have enough space to properly organize my library as well as I'd like to. I try to keep books written by the same author together, but I'm not always successful.
I'm guessing the answer might be Sam Shepard because I have pretty much everything he published, including his various collections of plays. And I don't know if it would count, but I have different editions of quite a few of Shepard's books. I have all of the books that David McCullough and H.W. Brands have written, so they are probably near the top of the list. From where I'm sitting right now, I can see 11 of McCullough's books. Pope Benedict XVI might be in the running too. I have a surprising number of books from his vast bibliography and new ones keep getting published posthumously.

Top 3 authors on my shelves #top3authorsonshelf
Tagged by @stefito0o, thank you! I know I'm severely belated getting this up but all of these authors are double-stacked on my shelves and hauling them out and reassembling my shelves is something I haven't had the energy for until lately. (Also, these aren't entirely accurate stacks because I only went for "read and owned" and didn't trawl the TBR shelves.)
Terry Pratchett - This should surprise nobody who's met me! I discovered him while working in a library during high school and have never looked back. I'm working on collecting an edition of everything he's written and I'm very nearly there. It was hard getting everything into the same shot here, let me tell you.
Seanan McGuire - Also probably not a surprise to many followers! She's another one of my auto-buys, after Pratchett, and I can count on her books to be either entertaining or heartbreaking, and often both at the same time. …And I've just realized I didn't include her books as Mira Grant. Whoops. Oh well. Assume you see the Newsflesh trilogy here too!
Lois McMaster Bujold - A friend in my early 20s said I had to read the Vorkosigan books and they were right! At the time, like with Pratchett, the easiest/best way for me to read everything was to hit up used bookstores whenever possible, hence the varying print runs. Then I padded out the set with omnibus editions and started in on her fantasy works. I don't know if I'll buy more of the World of Five Gods novels than what I have, because I like her SF a little more, but I have a few and no regrets there.

A peek at the collection project I’ve been working on. It’s a diversity, equity, and inclusion centered space, and I’ve helped build this initial collection. The shelves/carts aren’t permanent and we’ll be getting a nicer shelving unit.
There’s no order or catalog for these books right now, and we felt that the collection should just be browsable. So we put them in color order 😂
There are a number of books here that I’ll be checking out to myself!

After nearly 14 years of marriage we have finally combined and shelved all of our Star Trek novels.
Tumblr media
After I hauled the books that we bought home from our storage unit I asked him to bring the box that was upstairs down and he returned with a handful of book saying, "these were just extras that we were going to get rid of," I went up and came down with that box that says "toys" No, this box.
I had a hard time getting pictures of them on the shelf but I'll put my attempts under the cut.

A Look At: Work, Death, and Sickness
Work, Death, and Sickness written by Leo Tolstoy. It’s written in third person past tense. The main characters are God and Humanity.Jargon – Galley-Slave, and Bugbear. A galley-slave was often a prisoner of war or convicted criminal sentenced to row in the galley of a ship. God watches over humanity and gives them what he believes will bring people together. First, the means that no one can do…

"but if you're pro-union, why are you anti-cop-union?" because cops are not laborers. what cops do is not labor. they are enforcers of the laws that oppress laborers and exist solely to protect capital. don't bother me with stupid questions.
🛑 STOP asking me to make the post rebloggable. i refuse to let a bunch of anticommunists, libertarian anarchists, neoliberal spooks, and other pro-cop fascists pass around their bad-faith additions on a post if i can help it (which i can, by disabling reblogs) while others of you are saying some really misguided, off-topic shit, and it’s pissing me off.
please get your facts straight before embarrassing yourselves on the internet. for fucking ONCE in your lives.
i am not “redefining labor” i SAID that cops are not LABORERS (EXPLOITED WORKERS) unionizing to receive better working conditions for the betterment of their fellow workers. they actually DO participate in collective bargaining, and OTHER, ACTUAL LABOR UNIONS also use collective bargaining power to protect their members! if you argue otherwise, i’m sorry but that is a lie. and also NOT what i was FUCKING SAYING! that's not the point of this!! the derailing and misunderstandings of what a LABOR UNION IS that occurred in the short time this post was rebloggable was too insane not to shut off reblogs!
COP unions, LIKE I SAID IN THE ORIGINAL/ABOVE POST, ARE UNIFIED IN DIAMETRIC OPPOSITION TO THE LIBERATION OF WORKERS, AS IN PEOPLE WHO DO LABOR (WHICH DOES NOT INCLUDE THE LITERAL ARMED PROTECTORS OF CAPITAL)
NO OTHER UNION BASHES, KILLS, OR ARRESTS STRIKING WORKERS LIKE COP (OR PRISON GUARD) UNIONS DO.
if you agree with the post so much that you NEED it on your blog or whatever, post a screenshot of the original post with this part cropped out and leave me the fuck alone! THANK YOUUU!!!!!!!
and to the wiseasses saying screenwriters and actors "aren't laborers, either," are you just fucking stupid actually?
