comfy - leah williamson x reader
genre: fluff, petty argument
warnings: none
____________________________________________
being only a newer member of arsenals club, you and leah hadn’t taken the opportunity to get close with each other. though every attempt you made to interact with the older girl was often unsuccessful.
so, when the two of you got paired to be roomies in the hotel for a champions league match, your heart dropped.
the thought of sleeping in the same room as leah terrified you, though reassured by the assumption that you’d be sleeping in seperate, single beds.
as you and the rest of the crew stepped off the team bus and entered the hotel, there was excitement and exhaustion mixed in equal parts. the short transitions between the super and champion league matches were draining on the body and all anyone needed after a flight was a good rest. the anticipation of the tournaments kickoff was exhilarating, but a long day of travel had taken its toll.
it was a quiet walk from checking in, catching the elevator and bidding ‘goodnights’ to your other team mates. your hands trembled with anxiety, the silence around leah creating an almost panic-inducing feeling. you were worried you’d make a fool of yourself infront of the england captain.
when you arrived at your room, you both exchanged glances, realising that the room clearly was set up for a couple, not two teammates. the room had only a couch and a queen-sized bed.
leah was quick to offer a solution.
“you can take the bed, i’ll be fine on the couch,” she rushed, “it’s not big deal. you probably want to be comfortable.”
“leah, no i’ll take the couch, you need it.”
“absolutely not. your comfort comes first.”
you took surprise in her stern tone, not daring to talk back. you took her word, as much as you hated and took your respective place on the bed.
as time passed, an awkward silence hung in the air, you could tell leah was struggling to find comfort on the couch, shifting and fidgeting as she fiddled with her phone.
leah continued to shuffle in her spot making quiet grumbling noises, clearly frustrated by the discomfort of the sofa.
“i’m heading in the shower.” leah stated, walking towards the bathroom.
“oh, okay well i might go to bed now, goodnight,” you say timidly.
“night,” she gently smiles.
determined to prioritise her comfort, you made a decision. while leah showered, you moved from the bed down the couch where leah has been laying. your intention was to make sure she could sleep soundly before match day -1.
when leah returned to the room, she noticed you were no longer in the bed. you laid on the couch eyes closed, attempting to fall asleep. her brows furrowed with concern as she walked around, seeing your body curled up on the couch.
“what are you doing?” she asked, quite bluntly.
you shifted uncomfortably, feeling guilty.
"i noticed you were having trouble on the couch, i didn’t want you to be uncomfortable," you confessed, "so, i thought i'd take the couch instead to make sure you can sleep well."
"you don’t have to do that," she said, her voice gentle as her expression softened.
"leah," you insisted, "you deserve the queen bed. it's the least i can do."
"nah sweet, can't let you sleep on that couch. you're my teammate, and i want you to be well-rested for training. don’t worry about me, look after your young body while you can."
“leah, let’s be real, i’m going to be benched for the whole game, meaning i won’t really be necessary during training tomorrow.” you say quietly, voice tinging with uncertainty, “you’re like the most important player on the team.”
“yn, you’re part of the team, your presence matters,” she reassures, “whether you’re on the pitch or not, you’re important, the girls love you.”
“how can anyone like me? i don’t really have anyone i can talk to.”
“you’re new darling, you’ll get to know everyone soon enough,” she shook her head, “and you have me. you can talk to me, yn.”
she looks you with genuine eyes and gives out a lending hand to help you up from the couch. you feel flustered the way her warm skin gently comes into contact with yours. the back and forth of each of you trying to outdo the other in selflessness had ended. rather exhaustion and the realisation that you both just wanted to be comfortable, overshadowed the argument.
“let’s just sleep in the queen together, no harm done.”
you get comfortable in bed but keep a safe distance away from leah, being careful not to make her feel uncomfortable.
a long night passes as morning arrives. when your eyes crack open you notice you feel quite hot. leah is glued to you her head buried in your chest, legs intertwined with yours. her sun kissed blonde hair is splays across your arm and the bed.
in shock you flinch away, moving away in precision, trying not to wake the older girl up. but due to the feeling of movement, leah makes a quiet mumbling sound hugging you closer and nestling her face deeper into your neck.
you didn’t know how you were going to get out of this one.

With Love// F.W x Reader pt.3
Summary: Y/n Dursley of number 4 Privet Drive hates her life. That was, of course, until the summer before grade 9, after an oddly charming redhead and his brothers helped her cousin escape. it was probably a good thing he forgot to return that key.
word count: 1.5k
Tumblr media
Dear y/n,
It was nice to see you the other day; you’re looking even more beautiful than I remember. I wish I had been able to write to you earlier, but a lot has happened since. There was an attack at the Quidditch World Cup, but don’t worry, everyone is safe mum has been more overbearing since. She confiscated all our tongue-tonne toffee before we left, so we had to start again.
Anyway I know I've been saying this for almost a year, but I really hope we can catch up over the coming summer I’ll be of age so hopefully mum will let me go to London by myself, and even if she doesn’t, I’ll slip away to see you.
With love, Fred
Dear Fred,
I did see what happened. Since Harry told me what happened last year with Sirius, I’ve been getting the daily prophet delivered here, which until now I didn’t realise I could do until now. But I saw it and was halfway through writing a letter to Harry before your letter arrived. I do hope that the muggle family were alright afterwards. But I would love to meet up with you in London over the summer, anything to get away from these crazy people.
Make sure Harry writes back to me as well. I think he’s been ignoring my letters lately.
With love, Y/n
Dear Y/n,
George and I have been playing with a new prank idea. Basically, it's a custard creme that turns into a giant bird when someone eats it. We aren't entirely sure how we will do it, but what do you think?
Anyway, we are going back to Hogwarts soon, and Bill, Charlie, Percy and Dad have been acting really weird lately, they keep dropping hints about something that’s going to happen at Hogwarts this year, but they aren’t allowed to say. I think that's bullshit, they just like tormenting us.
Anyway, all is fine here, I hope to hear from you soon.
With Love, Fred
Dear Fred,
Sorry for not getting back sooner, I’ve been doing a lot of back-to-school preparation, that and all the summer work I’ve been neglecting to do until now. But good luck with school tomorrow, I hope you have a good year, I know I won’t. And send me a letter as soon as you find out what’s happening at Hogwarts this year that sounds very exciting.
I have to get all my information from you now because Harry won’t tell me anything anymore.
Don’t get into too much trouble.
With Love, Y/n
Dear Y/n,
You’re never going to believe what’s happening this year at Hogwarts.
The Triwizard tournament.
I know you don’t know what that means, but I guess it would be comparable to the Olympics. But they stopped doing it for a long long time because it was super dangerous and stuff, but they are bringing it back and Hogwarts is hosting this year. And we are having students from the french and bulgarian wizarding schools.
Anyway, they aren’t coming for a few more weeks now.
I wish you were a witch i could see you more.
With Love, Fred
Dear Fred,
You’re right, I have no idea what it means. But how do you know about the olympics? Anyway, I wish my school was as exciting as that. The only thing that's happened so far is Jenny and Ella got into a huge fight over some guy they were both seeing. It was pretty brutal. I think one of them lost a tooth.
It's dull here, since Harry left Dudley has taken to tormenting me instead, he brings his friends around sometimes and they creep me out.
Anyway, are you thinking of entering the tournament? Are you even allowed to?
With love, y/n
Dear y/n
I know about the Olympics because I take a muggle studies class which is exactly what it sounds like. We learn a whole heap here, Percy told me it would be a cop out when I put my name down to do it but you know what I think about Percy and his opinions. It’s actually a lot of fun, I’ve learned quite a bit and it was one of the three subjects I got an O.W.L in (which I think might be similar to your GCSEs?)
Anyway yes I am thinking about entering and so if George it sounds amazing and there’s a 1000 galleon prize for the winner and we’ve decided if we win it’s going straight to our joke shop. And if we get the money there will be no need for us to go back next year.
I know mum won’t be pleased about that at all, but she’ll have to accept it.
The students from the other schools are. coming soon and I’m excited to see what they’re like.
With love, Fred
Dear Y/n,
I haven’t heard from you in a while, is everything okay? George says I’ve been sulking but i haven’t. There’s not much to report on my end. But i hope to hear from you soon.
Hope the Muggles are treating you right.
With Love, Fred
Dear Fred,
I’m sorry it’s been so long. Dudley had his creepy little friends over a few weeks ago and one of them was creeping into my room I accidentally on purpose pushed him down the steps and he may or may not have fractured a wrist or two. And I’ve been grounded for a month.
I hope you have a good Halloween, Harry told me you guys go all out. I’m so jealous I wish we didn’t have to do Dudley’s stupid diet, I'm withing away to nothing here.
Anyway, were you and George able to get into the tournament?
I’m sorry this letter isn’t very substantial but nothing has been happening here.
With love, Y/n
Dear Y/n,
No, George and I weren’t able to enter we arent’t old enough. That prat Diggory is the hogwarts champion, you know the one i was telling you about last year?
Something strange happened tho, Harry’s name was drawn as well and no one knows how, you know since he isn’t of age and stuff.
But all us in Gryffindor are so excited, i know he’s gonna crush diggory.
I can’t wait for the summer, i really want to see your beautiful face again.
With Love, Fred
Dear Fred,
How did Harry’s name get drawn? You old me the tournament is really dangerouse is there nothing anyone can do? Is that even legal?
Can you get Harry to write me a letter please, guilt trip him or something but i hate that i had to find this out from you. Please keep me updated on him i don’t know why he won’t write back.
But I also can’t wait to see you again.
With Love, Y/n
Dear Y/n,
You should have seen Harry today, I know you’ve been stressed about him but like I said he’s just too good.
He had to get past a dragon and everyone else did really boring stuff but Harry flew! He summoned his broom and flew past the dragons it was amazing.
Anyway, we’re having a ball soon and I’m supposed to ask a girl to go with me but I wish I could take you. I think I’ll end up taking my friend Angelina though.
With love, Fred
Dear Fred,
Merry Christmas!
Sorry, this letter is a few days late I got grounded again and school is getting a bit crazy. I hope it’s not weird that I’m sending you something. But as an explanation, those are a few records of my favourite muggle artists. Harry told me that modern electronics don't work because of the magical interference but he said that there was an old record player in Gryffindor Tower and it worked so hopefully they work.
You can ask him to show you how to use them, I taught him how to use Dad's one when he was younger so he should remember.
Also was that your mother who sent me the sweater? It didn’t come with a note but Harry has a few that look similar and he said they were from her.
Anyway, I hope the ball was fun, we have dances at our school but I've never been to one.
With love, Y/n
Dear Y/n,
Thank you so much for the gifts they’re brilliant.
We’ve actually learnt how to use electronics in muggle studies. The record player still worked and i listened to all the records. I really enjoyed the band nirvana and queen.
The ball was kind of boring if im being honest, i think it would have been more fun if you were there.
Harrys second task is coming closer as well and im excited to see what he does for that one.
Also yes it was my mum who sent you that sweater, now you're apart of the family officially. I think she said she made ours the same colour so we can match now.
With Love, Fred

you were in california and jamie had asked you over for dinner with trevor and jack and one of their new teammates. a rookie.
during the dinner, jamie introduced you to mason, a fellow canadian who had just been drafted by the ducks in the 2021 nhl draft.
the three of you spent the dinner tormenting the poor american.
“it was really nice meeting you mason. remember to text me whenever you want and i’ll be there,” you told the young boy, giving him a hug.
and true to the word, mason texted you whenever he needed help, especially as he moved up and down the roster.
by the time world juniors came around, you and mason were best friends on snapchat and had a sixty day streak.
you congratulated him when he was named captain and constructed a regular facetime schedule for mason to gain advice and to rant.
during on of your facetime sessions, you happened to notice a little head walking past ever so often.
“who’s behind you mase?” you asked.
mason turned around and spotted connor giving him a sheepish smile. “that’s just bedsy,” he replied, nonchalantly.
“bedsy?”
“connor bedard,”
you nodded your head in realisation. “hi connor, it’s nice to meet you,” you called to the boy.
connor popped around and said hello. the boy then started animatedly talking about how he looked up to you as an idol. the way you went against all odds and became the first women to get drafted to the nhl.
from that day onwards, whenever you spoke to mason, connor would also be in the room and chime in whenever he felt like it.
but as the competition got cancelled due to covid, you wished the boys luck and gave connor your number with the order to reach out whenever he felt like it.
and he did just that.
as soon as he got back to regina, connor spent any moment he could asking you for advice on how to cope with all the watching eyes.
he’d spoken to mason and kent as well about the advice you’d given them and decided that suffering in silence wasn’t the best option.
summer worlds
when it came to summer worlds, connor had asked if you were willing to come watch. and so you dragged nico with you to meet the bedard boy.
kent saw you first and gave you a hug before calling connor over. the young boy ran to you, lifting you up in your hug.
“hi connor,” you mused.
“hi. thank you for coming,” he whispered.
you squeezed him before stepping back. “of course! neeks and i didn’t have anything planned for this time so we thought why not,” you replied.
throughout the tournament, you spent time with the canadian team, especially connor, the boy followed you and nico to dinner sometimes and had a long standing dinner invitation for when he gets drafted.
nhl draft
connor was nervous.
everyone had hyped him up to go first overall but he saw what happened with shane.
after the draft lottery, you had called him immediately. you asked how he felt about potentially going to chicago and he answered that he was fairly uncertain.
nico had been the one to push against the hawks getting a draft pick that high. but gary bettman didn’t listen.
during the awards, connor came up to you and nico with a shaky breathe.
“i’m kind of scared to go to chicago,” he answered truthfully.
nico put a hand on his shoulder and brought him in for a small hug before handing him off to you. connor wrapped his arms around you first.
“if you want, i can come with you to rookie camp and help you get settled in, but im sure your mum will be there too,” you assured him.
upon thinking of hehe you knew in the organisation, you realised frank and kevin would be at rookie camp. so you informed connor of them and gave him a little advice “everyone’s going to be a little scared so take it and make friends. one of the toughest things for me was i never spoke to anyone during my rookie camp. jack spoke to me a bit but that was all,”
when he heard his name called, he was relieved that he was going to the nhl. he stood up and hugged his family before walking down to find you.
connor pulled you in for a hug and whispered in your ear “thank you for everything,” before walking to wear his jersey.
first game
you made a call to sid.
“y/n, i can’t tell my teammates to stop their defence and let him score,” the older man whined.
“sidney it’s hi first game and he’s nervous!” you emphasised.
sid shook his head. beside him tanger and geno were wearing enormous grins upon hearing your request.
you huffed before thinking of another plan. “well then can you at least be nice to him and let him win a face off?” you asked.
sid chuckled and turned to his two teammates “we will make sure sid let’s him win a face off,” they promised.
majority of the devils team piled in to yours and nico’s living room in order to watch the first game of the season with you.
and they all vowed not to hurt the poor boy. which brendan smith broke

Chapter 1- All For Love Charles Leclerc
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Elena’s POV
Growing up wanting to be a racer I was always looked down on. Especially since I was a woman going into a male dominated sport. Not many people expected me to succeed.
So when I made it to Formula One I knew that it would be hard. Considering there weren’t many other female drivers. As of right now it’s just me and my friend Addie. Despite all the people telling us we couldn’t do it we did.
She however had more support than me. I mean of course I had my mom. But my dad wasn’t in the picture. He had decided to leave my Mom after he found out about me. Max and I have the same father just different mothers.
So we grew up with completely different lives I grew up in Australia with my Mom. He was raised far away from me. Which is why we’ve never really been close at all. We don’t even talk unless it’s for an interview or pictures. I don’t know why he’s always disliked me but it didn’t matter to me.
I knew I was a better driver than him. And I was here to prove it.
“So Elena when are you making the switch to Ferrari” Carlos asked jokingly. “Never in a million years” I said. “That’s so mean” Charles said. “Oh char you know I love both of you but” I said. “She’s a Mercedes girl boys” April said.
“For life” I said. “Would your ever consider the possibility of it in the future ” Charles asked. “I don’t know” I said grabbing plates from my kitchen. Tonight was our weekly game night.
It was off season so we all liked to hang out before getting back to the madness. It was nice to be around everyone.
“Who else is coming” Daniel asked looking at his sister. “George of course” Addie said April rolled her eyes. “I also invited Lando” April said. “You kidding he cheats all the time” Carlos said. “Okay but I want El on my team” Charles said.
“Oh what the heck” Carlos said. “Carlos I’ll be on your team” Daniel said. “Okay fine” Carlos said. “Please be careful with the pizza on our couch” I said handing Charles a slice of pizza. “I will be” Charles said. Someone the knocked on the door.
April opened it and let George and Lando in.
“We are here did you miss us” Lando said I laughed. “Oh my god what’s with the stupid top hat” Addie said laughing. “Oh mate you love it” he said setting the hat on her head. He then sat beside Addie.
I knew she had always had a thing for Lando. Charles and I knew too. We kept trying to get them together. I think everyone knew they liked each other besides themselves.
“Since everyone is here I calm dibs on Mario in Mario Kart” Daniel said. “Are you kidding that’s my favorite” Charles said. “Listen as the oldest here I overrule” Daniel said.
Later…
We were in our last couple rounds of Mario Kart. It was just down to Daniel and Lando. Whoever won this match was the winner of our mini tournament.
“Come on Lando” Addie said. “I’m team Daniel be always wins” Carlos said. “He’s trash” April said. Someone then texted me. I checked my phone to see who it was from.
Text From Lewis The Goat 🏎️

Me: see you soon !
___________
“Who was that” Charles asked. “Her super secret boyfriend perhaps” April said. “I don’t have a boyfriend” I said. “Sure you don’t you blush every time he texts you” Addie said.
I then heard a knock on my door.
“I’ve got it don’t worry” Lando said walking over to open the door. It was Lewis. “Room for one more” Lewis said I smiled. “Always” I said. “I’m a bit late but I did bring drinks” he said holding a bottle of wine.
“A hero for real” April said taking the bottle. “April no more wine love” George said following her to the kitchen. “You’re up mate” Daniel said to Lewis. “Oh me versus who” Lewis said setting his coat in the closet.
“Me I guess” I said.
Later on..
Everyone decided to start leaving and of course April and George were gone. So it was just me , Charles and Lewis now.
“So doing anything for your birthday the big 25” Lewis said. “Uhhh I don’t think so” I said. “What about a dinner or something” Charles said putting dishes away. “I don’t wanna do anything fancy” I said. “Not even cake” Charles said.
“Maybe a cheesecake” I said. “That’s my girl” Charles said I blushed. “Well then if you aren’t doing anything can I take you out to dinner” Lewis asked. Char stopped in his tracks.
“Uh sure I don’t see why not” I said. “With the whole crew they’d love it” Lewis said. My smile faded. I thought he meant a date. But I guess not. “I’ll be there too” Charles said.
Charles and Lewis finally went home. So I sat out on my balcony looking at the sunset. Then I heard my neighbor open there balcony door.
“Pssst neighbor” Danny said. “God your annoying what” I said. “You look bored” Danny said. “Yeah your sister is hanging out with George” I said making air quotes around hanging out. “I don’t wanna know what she’s doing” Danny said.
“Or who” I said. “Okay enough mate” Danny said I laughed. “What do you want” I said. “For you to come over” Danny said. “Me” I said. “You see I need help with this thing” Danny said. “Oh” I said. “Wanna help me” he said I rolled my eyes.
I then went back inside my apartment and shut the balcony door. I quickly went over to Danny’s door and knocked on it.
“You’re not the plumber” Danny said. “Oh shut up” I said kissing him. He then shut the door. “Well maybe you can still help me” he said setting me on his couch. “Perhaps” I said.
And there I was again. Back in my ex boyfriend’s apartment. We said we’d stop doing this thing but well.
I can’t say no …

Following that sort of crossover with Batman… what if a kind family from Smallville (Kansas) sent their son to Nevermore so he wouldn't have to worry about using his growing powers without fear of being rejected or having his true origins discovered?
I do Like The DC X Wednesday Crossover ideas of Teenage Heroes living at Nevermore.
Tumblr media
The God Among Men
The Ride from Kansas to Nevermore was a toll. The dead silence, the unnerving wait of what’s to come. It all was a bit, too much for (Y/n). The boy say in the backseat with his bags, oddly quiet now. But it can all be directed towards the incident that happened at his last school, which lead to a few first degree burns and a hole in the roof. That is when the truth came out of his origin, a child born not from earth but from another planet. Soon his powers began to manifest from it all, turning him into a monster as some would say. The only place that could possibly assist him was Nevermore academy, the academic boarding school for “Freaks.”
“(Y/n), such a.. unique name.” Principal Weems, the head of the school at Nevermore and was more than such, tall, beautiful, elegant. Jonathan and Martha Kent, the parents of said (Y/n) sit across from her with their child in the middle, a bit awkwardly smiling.
“It’s a Name We gave him, something strong and passionate.” Martha says as Jonathan nods.
“Our (Y/n) is, different from the normal students and, we’re scared they’ll Bully him for it. Nevermore seems the place for different people.” Jonathan explains to Weems who nods.
“We’ll Just from looking at you, you don’t have any physical abnormalities I can decipher.” Weems says and stands up. “Can I ask a assessment of your, abnormalities?” She asks, and (Y/n) awkwardly shrugs.
“Sure.. i can fly, punch pretty hard, and nothing really hurts me, and.. I can..” (Y/n) says, but trails off, getting more somber.
“He can, I guess shoot lasers from his eyes.” Jonathan explains for his son. “They can be.. dangerous…” he says. Weems notices the slight awkwardness and smiles.
“Then you will fit on amazingly here, come we’ll show you to your dorm in Hamlet Hall.” Weems said, and the small group walked though Nevermore.
“You arrival was actually a bit short notice, we already had a student come last week, Miss Addams, perhaps you two will get along as new students.” Weems continues to strut leading them to the dormitory. After unpacking and giving his mother and father a Solemn Goodbye, he watches the car drive down the hall and the boy stands there, and reluctantly prepares for his first day. Sitting within his dorm room he places a picture of himself and his parents on his baseball tournament win, after hitting one of the most famous home run swings, but little did he know it was the trigger for his super strength, I guess that day was tainted. His attention was suddenly cut off by the dorm door opening and he looks up to see his dorm mate. Ajax.
“Oh you’re here already? Cool.” He says with an oddly slow enthusiasm. He walks over to fist bump (Y/n) who, a bit confused agrees.
“You must be Ajax, nice to meet you.” He said as the guy nods.
“Yeah I was busy with Enid, we Uh, that’s not important I guess, nice to meet you but for your own safety we probably shouldn’t look at each other.” He said, which raises the brow of (y/n).
“Why?”
“I’m a, Gorgon.. we don’t look at each other, wind up a stone statue.”
“I don’t think you have to worry about that with me.” (Y/n) responds trying to jest.
“So, what powers do you have? Most in Nevermore got some freaky stuff about em.”
(Y/n) looks a bit worried but slowly builds up the courage to tell him. “I’m.. an alien.” (Y/n) said, and Ajax just stares at him for what seems to be forever.
“Like, E.T?”
“…No?”
“Aww.. anyway it’s, been cool. I’ll show you around tomorrow if that’s cool.”
“Yeah, that’d be cool.” (Y/n) responds and smiles, trying to make the best out of this situation. “Nice, I gotta head back out for some club stuff, be seeing you roomie.” Ajax says before heading back out, (Y/n) sits there and ponders more about his situation. Being sent to a new school, finding out you have powers beyond even what most monsters have, it’s a lot to take in. It’s best to sleep on it, hoping tomorrow brings better insight.
The next morning, Ajax was giving (Y/n) the causal Nevermore Tour. They enter the large social area, and (Y/n) sees the various groups, teams, and cliques.
“See, you got vampires, Werwolves, Ghosts, Sirens, and a few small ones like gorgons.” Ajax explains, (Y/n) notices a blonde haired girl who giggles and waves at Ajax.
“Who’s that?” He asks.
“Enid, She’s a Werewolf.” Ajax explains, but also has this sheepishly happy smile when he looks at her, (Y/n)’s eyes slowly scan the girl next to Enid, who stood out like a very sore and bleeding thumb. All black, dark hair, piercing eyes.
“And the girl next to her?”
“Oh that’s Uh.. Wednesday Addams. Total terror, best to stray from her.” Ajax says, and (Y/n) nods.
“Uh, Yeah.. i guess. She’s a bit scary..” you admit.
“That’s funny coming from a guy who says he can shoot lasers out of his eyes.” Ajax says smirking, unfortunately for him, Classes began and (Y/n) checked his schedule, and his first class was Mrs Thornhills Chemistry. Making his way there he chose not to mingle with anyone, keeping to himself mostly. Entering the class he notices the almost full seats, and Mrs Thornhill at the head of the class.
“Ah. Mr Kent, The Next Transfer, our class is slightly packed so, you’ll be seated next to.. Ah the other Transfer, Miss Addams.” Thornhill says, much to the shock and slight anxiety of (Y/n) he cautiously walks to the seat and sits down, feeling the intense tension in the air at this seat, he turns and tries to introduce himself to the jet black raven sitting next to him.
“Uh Hey, im (Y/n) Kent, Even though She already said that…” he says, realizing how dumb he just sounded. She turns her head slightly in his direction.
“Wednesday Addams.” She responds calmly and with meticulous detail. And she just turns her head back, completely different ignoring him now, he sighs and also looks forward a bit sad. His attempt to make a friend was a total failure.
Night Falls on Nevermore and as usual (Y/n) was sitting on the edge of the bed, and Ajax was gone for some “Club Activities”. (Y/n) waited until he was Sure Ajax was gone, he then walked to the window and opened it, the warm air sky filled his nostrils. He takes a running start and leaps out the window head first, suddenly his body halted in the air and he chuckles, and begins to fly, soaring though the air and around Nevermore, letting the dreary landscape be his ariel teacher, the wind blowing in his hair, the pressure against his skin all felt so, surreal. His travels along the sky were halted by music playing so perfectly, it was a melodramatic version of paint it black, and the chords, the strings were so enthralling that he had to see who was playing that, his attention turns to the large window clock tower like room and he slowly descended to the origin of the sound. And he was met to Wednesday Addams, playing. He couldn’t resist listening, and just watching her as she’s lost in the music. She finishes and lower her string, her eyes slowly look up to (Y/n), levitating before her, the two lock eyes finally and they stare at each other, (Y/n) in Amazement of her music skills, and her clandestine beauty, and Wednesday in Amazement of his abilities to fly, and his almost shocking appearance. The two stare for what seems to be forever, perhaps not wanting to spoil the moment, or..
Having ulterior motives.

One of the first things you’d learned about Tom was that he really excelled with coming up with stupid party themes. It would have been a totally useless talent if he didn’t live in a frat, where stupid parties happened every other night. His latest idea was a nautical themed party which he called his ‘Get Nauti’ party, you found it all incredibly cheesy. Nevertheless you agreed to be the first mate of the party, even though you weren’t really sure what that meant. It was just that when Tom looked at you with his big puppy dog eyes you found it nearly impossible to say no.
“(y/n)!” Tom ran out front as soon as he saw your car arrive, he was wearing only a pair of short, teal swim trunks, and a captain’s hat. He looked good, really good, it was always a good day when you got to see Tom parade around shirtless, “There’s my first mate.”
You smiled back at him, “Hi Tom.”
“This is for you,” he placed another matching captain’s hat on your head and looked you up and down. You’d picked up a new bikini for the occasion, white with small blue flowers covering it. You’d felt great when you put it on at the store but his gaze made you nervous and squirmy, “You look great.”
“Thanks,” you adjusted the hat, making sure it was secure on your head, “So what are my duties as first mate?”
“There’s just one actually, you’ve got to help me win the flip cup tournament,” he smiled hopefully at you.
You groaned, “I’ve got to drive home tonight Tom, I can’t get wasted.”
‘You can stay with me,” he grabbed both of your hands, “Please? Haz and I need you, you’re the best flip cup player I know.”
You hummed, pretending to really weigh your options, “Fine, but only because you appealed to my ego.”
He grinned ear to ear, “Thank you darling, I owe you.”
“Yeah you do,” you agreed, “I’m gonna have to steal some clothes for bed though, I didn’t bring anything else.”
“Not even a sweater?” he clicked his tongue and tossed his arm over your shoulders as he walked you inside, “How irresponsible of you.”
“School years over Tom, I don’t have to be responsible again until the fall.”
“Really? Planning on having a totally wild summer love?”
“Yeah, totally,” you laughed, “And guess who has to babysit?”
“Well unfortunately I’m also planning on having a really wild summer so I guess Haz will have to babysit us both,” he waved to Harrison and some other boys as you stepped into the living room, “You got the tournament all set up Haz?”
Harrison nodded, “Yeah, everything’s good to go.”
“Wonderful,” Tom beamed, “Hope you’re both ready to win.”
“It’s about having fun Tom,” Harrison teased, “Let’s not get too competitive.”
“Only losers complain about things being too competitive,” Tom bit back, “You’re with me right darling?”
You nodded, “Always.”
“That’s my girl,” he smiled proudly.
The frat began to fill up quickly, everytime you glanced towards the door more and more people were piling inside. Soon the place was packed and the entire block was lined with cars. Music was pounding and every table, counter, and window sill was lined with beer cans and plastic cups. Tom kept you close to him like always, and Harrison ended up introducing you to some friends he’d invited from work. They were nice enough, but of course Tom was the only one holding your attention.
“Shit,” Tom glanced down at his phone, “Tournaments supposed to start in just a few, I’ve got to slip away for just a moment but I’ll be back alright?”
You nodded, “Yeah, no problem.”
You watched as he grabbed Harrison and they slipped away into the crowd, leaving you alone with Harrison’s friends. You stood awkwardly for a moment, your eyes darting down to the cup of water in your hand. That was when one of the boys, you were pretty sure his name was Hunter, decided to start talking to you.
“So are you and Tom, like, together?” he asked.
“Oh, uh, no,” you flushed, “We’re just friends.”
“Cool,” he nodded, “So you’re single then?” he raised a brow hopefully.
You were tempted to tell him no, because you weren’t interested in getting hit on by him in the least, but you ended up nodding, “Yeah.”
“Cool, me too,” he grinned at you, “I like your hat by the way.”
“Thanks, Tom got it for me,” you pursed your lips, “Hunter right?”
He nodded, “Yeah, and you’re (y/n).”
Hunter was cute enough, a muscular boy with short blond hair and a cocky smile, but he wasn’t nearly as cute as Tom, and you could already tell he wasn’t as charming either.
“That’s me,” you took a long drink of your water, “I should probably go meet up with the boys actually, we’re all on a team together.”
“Too bad, I totally would have had you on my team,” his eyes wandered up and down your body, “Hopefully we’ll end up playing each other.”
“Yeah, hopefully,” you agreed before spinning on your heels.
You scanned the party in search of Tom, Harrison, or any of your other friends. You spotted Harrison just outside of the back door and began pacing towards him. Outside people were gathering around a large folding table where the flip cup tournament would take place, and Tom was attempting to get the first two teams ready to play.
“I can’t believe he set up a whole tournament for this,” you mumbled, crossing your arms as you joined Harrison by the backdoor.
“I think he just did it because he wants to have bragging rights all summer,” Harrison chuckled and glanced down at you, “Couldn’t stay away huh?”
“Actually one of your friend’s started hitting on me,” you explained.
“I see,” he smirked, “Which one?”
“Hunter.”
“Ah, yeah you’re definitely his type,” he glanced back towards Tom, “But I guess he’s not really yours is he?”
You shook your head, “Definitely not.”
Harrison bit his cheek and smiled knowingly to himself, “He’s got us up next, you ready?”
“Come on Haz, you know I’m never the one dragging us down.”
“Tom hasn’t drank anything today, he should be good to go,” Harrison chuckled, waving to Tom as he blew a whistle for the two teams to start.
Harrison’s work friends came to join you both outside as the boys at the table began pounding back their beers. Hunter moved next to you, standing a way too close for someone who just met you.
“They’re not half bad,” he commented as the second players picked up their cups, “Not as good as though.”
“I wouldn’t plan on getting too far tonight,” Harrison smirked, “We’ve got a pretty unbeatable team lined up, right (y/n)?”
“Yeah,” you mumbled, too busy watching Tom to really pay attention to what they were talking about, “Totally.”
Tom was having fun playing referee, but his eyes kept darting back to you and Harrison. He watched as Harrison’s friends gathered around you two and Hunter leaned in towards you. He was way too close for Tom’s liking, so Tom ran back to your little group and cut between you two, setting a hand on your back as he spoke.
“Hope you two are ready, we’re about to be up,” he smiled at you and Harrison.
You grinned, “I think you should be asking yourself that Tommy.”
“Don’t worry about me darling, I’ll be just fine,” he assured you, “Hunter you should take notes, maybe you’ll actually be able to win a round.”
“A round? I’m planning on taking the whole thing,” he smiled cockily.
“Oh I’m sure you’ll give it your best try,” Tom ran the back of his fingers up your spine before his hand left you. One of the teams playing flipped their final cup and began yelling excitedly, Tom was quick to usher you away, “Come on, come on, let’s go.”
“Calm down Tom,” you laughed, “It’s been like five seconds since they won.”
“Yes well I’m very eager,” he pinched your side playfully as you approached the table, “Now get your game face on darling, they need to know how serious we are about this.”
Tom, Harrison, and you all lined up on one side of the table with you in the middle of the two boys.. Things were tense, you were up against one of Tom’s frat brothers and a set of twins from a local sorority. Each of you set your cup on the edge of the table and filled it with your drink of choice. The entire time you were setting up Tom was watching Hunter watch you, Hunter’s eyes hadn’t left you for even a second, and it was starting to get under Tom’s skin.
“Tom,” you nudged his side when you noticed him staring off at the crowd, “You good?”
Everyone was ready to go, just waiting for Tom to blow the whistle and start the game. His cheeks flushed with embarrassment and he cleared his throat before speaking.
“Yeah, sorry,” he blew the whistle around his neck and yelled, “Go!”
Harrison was up first, he downed his drink and managed to flip his cup in two tries, giving you a decent advantage. You matched his speed, downing your drink and flipping your cup on your second try. Tom was faster than chugging than both of you, but he always fell apart when it came to actually flipping the cup. You bit your lip nervously as he began, watching him flip the cup three times before he came close, finally he got it on his fifth try, just a second before the girl across from him landed hers.
“Yay!” you cheered, holding your hand up to high five both of the boys, “I’ve never seen you get it that fast Tom.”
“I’ve been practicing,” he winked and snatched both of your cups off the table and glanced over your shoulder. Hunter was still watching you, and the last thing he wanted was for you to walk back over there so he could hit on you, “You want to help me referee the next round?”
You shook your head, “That’s alright, you have your fun Tom, I’m happy to wait on the sidelines.”
“Ah, come on love, I’ll let you blow the whistle,” he tried to tempt you, dangling the whistle in front of your face.
“Ew, it’s got your mouth germs all over it,” you laughed and pushed it away.
“Oh what? So now you don’t like my mouth germs?” he grinned.
You rolled your eyes, “No, I’m gonna go wait with Haz alright?”
“Alright,” he pursed his lips, watching you return to the crowd with Harrison.
Hunter was on you in a second, congratulating you on your win and cracking shitty jokes. Tom was happy to see that none of his poor attempts to make you laugh seemed to be working, but he still didn’t like watching you two together. He had plans for how the night was going to go. You would win the tournament together and then Tom would kiss you, prompting a long and loving relationship between the two of you that would eventually develop into a marriage with three, maybe four kids, and a few dogs. Hunter didn’t have a place in Tom’s big life plans, and he certainly wasn’t about to make room for him either.
“You want another drink sweetheart?” Hunter peaked down at your empty cup, again standing too close to you.
You fought your urge to roll your eyes at the pet name and shook your head, “I’m good, I don’t want to get too drunk before the tournament ends.”
“Ah, strategizing,” he nodded, “Good plan, unfortunately I don’t have that kind of self control,” he raised his glass towards you.
“Is that something for you to brag about?” you chuckled.
“I think that was more of a confession than a brag,” he bit his cheek, “I don’t think anyone brags about a lack of self control.”
Tom watched as you started to laugh with Hunter, a real, genuine, heartfelt laugh. That was the last straw for him. He clenched his hands at his side and cleared his throat before he went stomping towards you.
“Hey, Hunter, you and your friends are up next alright?” Tom slapped a hand on his back much harder than he needed to, “You should probably start getting ready.”
“Uh, yeah, totally,” he agreed, “We’ll get up there.”
“Good call,” he waved to him as he walked away and stepped in to fill the spot at your side, “Harrison do you mind reffing this round?” he pulled the whistle from his neck and passed it over to Harrison.
“Sure,” Harrison took the whistle from him with a smirk.
You frowned, “Really? You seemed like you were having fun.”
“I was, but I’d rather hang out with you,” he shrugged, watching as Harrison started blowing the whistle and giving orders, “Having fun with the boys huh?”
You shrugged, “Sure, they’re fine.”
“They’re hitting on you,” he blurted out, his cheeks flushing pink as he waited for you to say something, you just seemed confused so he continued, “Well not all of them, but Hunter is.”
“I know, I’m not totally oblivious Tom,” you stated plainly, giving no indication as to whether you enjoyed the boys flirting or not.
“Well are you into it or..?” he pressed.
You locked eyes with him, he was smiling but he seemed annoyed. It almost seemed like jealousy, but it was hard to tell because you’d never seen Tom jealous before. If he was jealous though, it’d mean he felt the same way as you did. The thought made you feel giddy and hopeful, so you decided to play a little coy to see if you could confirm your suspicions.
“Do you two have beef or something?” you cocked your head innocently.
“What? No, of course not,” he rolled his eyes, making it extremely obvious that there was something more there, “Just, you know, might be a little awkward when he finds out you’re going to be sleeping in my bed tonight.”
You laughed, “Well I wasn’t planning on going home with him or anything, but if I was, I probably wouldn’t tell him that.”
“Well if you were planning on seeing him at all he probably wouldn’t like how close we are just in general,” Tom hummed.
You two both fell silent, but the look in his eyes made you feel like he was interrogating you. Your gut told you it was jealousy, but part of you thought that was just wishful thinking on your part, that you were just seeing what you wanted to see.
“Are you?” Tom questioned after you didn’t respond, lifting his brows while he waited for your response.
“Am I what?” you frowned.
“Planning on sleeping with him?” he continued.
“No, I just told you I wasn’t.”
“Good,” he nodded and crossed his arms and turned back to the game.
You knit your brows and dragged your eyes away from him. Hunter’s team blew the other out of the water, having all three cups flipped before they even finished their second. The three boys jumped and cheered and began high fiving one another before returning to the sidelines. As soon as Hunter approached you Tom’s arm slipped around your waist and drew you closer to him.
“Told you we were pretty good right?” Hunter grinned as he approached you.
“That was pretty good,” you nodded in agreement.
Tom wore a tight lipped smile, his eyes narrowed at the boy in front of him, “It was decent.”
Again it seemed like Tom was jealous, but you wanted to be sure that it was really jealousy and not just him being protective or something. So you decided to play it up, just a little bit, hoping he would do or say something that would confirm your suspicions.
“Hey Hunter, I think I’ll take you up on that drink now,” you smiled up at him and pulled Tom’s hand off of your waist.
Tom’s eyes widened just a tad while Hunter’s lit up excitedly, “Cool, let’s go grab a drink then.”
“Come on,” you nodded for him to follow you inside.
You tried to watch Tom watch you but it was hard to keep your eyes on him with Hunter hovering so close to you. You made sure to giggle extra hard at everything he said and set your hand on his arm while he walked you back outside. You spotted Tom right away, he was watching the door, obviously waiting for you to return. He tensed when he spotted your hand on his arm, his eyes narrowed to a glare as you two approached him. He reached out for you as soon as you were near him, setting his arm over your shoulders and drawing you in close.
“How’s your drink?” he hummed.
“Fine,” you swirled your cup and took a small sip, “Did you know Hunter’s on the water polo team?”
“Wow water polo? Really? How fascinating,” he stated plainly.
You were sure he was jealous now, he had to be, there was no other reason he’d be acting so rude to one of Harrison’s friends.
“Tom I need you to take over man,” Harrison came jogging to you, shoving the whistle back into Tom’s hands, “I need a bathroom break before we’re up again.”
Tom’s cheeks tinted pink and he nodded, “Come up with me darling, everyone likes having a pretty judge,” he pulled you away with him before you had a chance to answer, promptly ending your time with Hunter.
You were smiling as he dragged you back over to the table where the game was being plaid. On the table there was a small clipboard with a list of the different teams and rounds that were supposed to be played that night. Tom plucked it off the table as people began lining up for the next round. He started scribbling away on the board, blowing the whistle without even glancing upwards. You frowned and tried to peek at what he was doing.
“Why are you changing things now?” you questioned.
“Well I just thought you might like to play against Hunter’s team next round,” he smiled bitterly at you, “Since you two are just best pals now.”
You frowned, “Best pals? I just grabbed a drink with him.”
“And you said you weren’t planning on sleeping with him,” he scoffed.
“I’m not,” it was hard not for you to smile or laugh, “I’m planning on sleeping in your bed remember?”
He locked eyes with you for a moment, “Good, you can tell him when we play each other, we’re heading up next.”
“Next?” you raised a brow.
He nodded, “Yeah, I’m really eager to go again,” he set the clipboard down and turned his attention to the people playing, “Come on Josh! I know you can drink faster than that!”
You rolled your eyes and crossed your arms before you started to cheer for some of the boys with him. It wasn’t like you were trying to piss him off or something, just figure out if he was jealous or not. A wave of guilt hit you and you began to worry that you might have seriously upset him.
“Tom,” you grabbed his arm, “When Harrison gets back I need to talk to you for a second, privately.”
He hummed and shook his head, “No can do love, we’re playing next round.”
“Tom come on, just leave the roster how it is,” you attempted to take the clipboard from his hands but he wouldn’t budge, “People are gonna get mad if you start changing it now.”
“Too bad, my party, my rules,” he smiled smugly at you
“Throwing the party doesn’t give you an excuse to be a dick,” you bit back.
“Oh yeah, I’m being such an asshole,” he rolled his eyes, “I’m not the one who’s been flirting with some douche all night.”
“So?” you knew you should probably drop it there but you didn’t, you wanted to hear him say it out loud, “What’s wrong with a little harmless flirting?”
His eyes narrowed to a glare, “You already know what.”
“No I-”
“Great job guys!” Tom cut you off and clapped Josh on the back as his team one, “Amazing really. Okay next up it’s gonna be me, Haz, and (y/n), against Phil, Travis, and,” he cleared his throat, “Hunter.”
Harrison frowned at him from the sidelines, “Uh, I thought there were still a couple groups ahead of us.”
“Well you know, things change Haz, we’re up now,” he gave a tight lipped smile, “Come on boys, we don’t have all night.”
Everyone that was gathered to watch the game seemed confused, and your face flushed with embarrassment as you stepped up to the side of the table. You were in the middle of Tom and Harrison again, with Hunter standing right across from you. He winked at you as he topped off his cup.
“Hope you aren’t too crushed when we beat you sweetheart,” he purred.
“Shove off Hunter,” Tom scoffed, “Everybody ready?”
“No, everyone’s still filling their cups Tom, calm down,” Harrison looked him over and raised a brow in concern, “You alright mate?”
“Yes, I just want to win,” he huffed.
“Right…” Harrison glanced at you and then back to Tom, “You just seem a little tense.”
“I’m good,” he replied dryly.
“We’re all good over here,” Hunter spoke up again once his teammates had both topped off their cups, “So we’re ready whenever you guys are.”
“Great. Haz are you ready?”
Harrison nodded, “Sure.”
Tom blew the whistle without another word, and watched silently as Harrison chugged his glass. He drank faster than the boy across from him, but took three tries to flip his cup, so you were only a second ahead when you lifted the glass to your mouth. You chugged as fast as you could and managed to flip your cup on your first try. Tom was able to start far before their final teammate, and while he chugged fast, you could tell right away he was going to slip up when it came to actually flipping his cup. He always did when he got too competitive or drunk, he’d tense up and end up flipping the cup way too hard. Normally it was funny, but he seemed genuinely angry now, and you felt awful. You watched as he flipped his cup again and again, he wasn’t even close by the time the boy across from him finished chugging his glass, losing any advantage you had.
They ended up beating you, right away they started to cheer and tease. Harrison high fived them all but Tom didn’t. Normally he was a good sport, but tonight he had no interest. He just passed the whistle over to Josh and declared him the new referee before disappearing inside the house.
“Tommy…” you sighed as you watched him leave, debating whether you should go after him. Of course you wanted to, but you were worried he wouldn’t want you around if he was upset with you.
“You did great,” Hunter complimented, “Too bad Tom blew your lead, but good for me so…”
You rolled your eyes and shoved right past him to go find Tom. He was retreating up the stairs when you entered the house, undoubtedly heading for his bedroom. You followed after, pushing through the crowd as quickly as you could.
“Tom?” you rapped gently at his door, “Can I come in?”
For a second it was quiet, then he swung the door open, “Look I’m not feeling great (y/n), I’m just gonna call it a night okay?”
“Tom please don’t, you were super excited about this party, you shouldn’t miss it,” you tried tugging him out of his room, “Come on, I’ll go home if you don’t want to see me.”
He furrowed his brows, “I don’t want you to go home I-” he stopped himself mid sentence and cocked his head, “I’m not upset with you (y/n).”
You blushed again, “It’s okay if you are Tom.”
“I’m not, of course I’m not,” he rubbed the back of his neck, “Tonight’s just not going how I thought it would.”
“Well, do you want to talk about it?” you tried stepping closer, but he didn’t open the door for you.
He stared at you for a minute, his mouth hanging open before he finally nodded, “Yeah, kind of. I’m sorry I snapped at you back there, you’re a grown woman, you can flirt with whoever you want, I just…” he trailed off and sighed, “I just get protective.”
“Just protective?” you pushed, “It kind of seemed like maybe that wasn’t all you were feeling…”
He let out another deep sigh, his eyes darting away from you as he spoke, “I mean what do you want me to say here (y/n)? I think I made it kind of obvious.”
You were both quiet for a moment. He had nothing to be jealous about, and you wanted to tell him that, but actually spitting out was harder than you thought it would be.
“Maybe we could just sit down for a minute?” you suggested softly.
He nodded and opened his door the rest of the way so you could follow him inside. Sitting on his night stand he had two water bottles and a couple of snacks.
“I wanted to be ready in case we both got hammered,” he explained as he sat on the edge of his bed, “So I brought some stuff up here earlier.”
“That’s really sweet,” you smiled as you sat beside him, “Tom I’m really sorry.”
“I don’t want you to be sorry (y/n),” he groaned, “You’re my best friend, I just want you to be happy okay?”
“I know, but I shouldn’t have done that…” you bit your cheek, “I shouldn’t have flirted with him, I didn’t realize it would make you so upset. I was just trying to figure out if you were, you know, jealous.”
“I was very jealous,” he popped his knuckles nervously, “I had this whole plan for tonight. I wanted to have that stupid tournament so we could win and then I could kiss you and it’d be this whole big thing,” he chuckled, “It sounds sort of stupid when I say it out loud, I was just trying to be romantic.”
“That’s really cute Tom, I would have liked that a lot,” you fiddled with your hands nervously, “I hope you know that I’m not into him, like, at all. I was just trying to figure out if you were jealous or not so I would know if you felt the same way as I do.”
“(y/n) I am totally crazy about you,” he slipped a hand over yours.
“I’m crazy about you too,” you squeezed his hand and your eyes darted to his lips, you wanted to kiss him but you weren’t sure if you should, “So what now?”
His tongue darted out over his lips while he stared down at yours. Without another word he set his hand on your cheek and leaned in towards you. He pressed his lips to yours gingerly, they were soft and he was gentle. He tasted like cheap beer, something that would have disgusted you if he were anyone else, but you were so happy just to be kissing him you didn’t care.
Finally you separated, Tom hovered close though, keeping his lips just centimeters from yours, “I want you to be my girlfriend, you know, if that’s cool with you.”
“That depends,” you bit your lips, “Is there gonna be more kissing involved?”
He nodded and gave you another quick peck, “Loads.”
“Well in that case, I’m in,” you wrapped your arms around his neck to draw him even closer, “You wanna go be the annoying couple that makes out in the middle of the party?”
He hummed, “As fun as that sounds, I think I’d rather spend the rest of the night up here, just you and me.”
“That sounds nice. We could throw on a movie, snuggle a little,” you agreed, “I still wanna steal some of your clothes though, it gets chilly up here.”
“Sounds perfect,” he pecked your lips again with a smile, “I’ll grab you a sweater, but keep the hat on, I think it’s sexy.”
You laughed as he rose from the bed, “Alright, whatever floats your boat captain.”

"It's not too late, lets go."
Type: Fanfiction
Fandom: Mortal Kombat
Characters: Raiden, Kung Lao, Kakkō, Lui Kang
“I’m sorry Raiden, I don’t get it. It’s the twenty-second of February, how does it make sense to be celebrating a New Year?”
Raiden chuckled before explaining, “Because here we celebrate with the lunisolar calendar, and it marks the year of the rabbit today, so New Years.”
 “Oooohhh. I didn’t know that.”
“I know, you just told me.”
“Well, still, what does it have?”
“Have you never been to a festival before?”, Kung Lao commented from across the table.
Kakkō rolled their eyes at him, “Oh shut up, I didn’t have time for festivals.”
“Right right, you had shaolin work to do.”, Kung Lao sarcastically responded as he toyed with his new hat.
“Well, I think that just opens up an opportunity!”, Raiden said.
Kakkō looked at Raiden, “What do you mean?”
“Since you’ve never been to a festival before, we can take you with us today! Is there something you particularly want to see?”
The shapeshifter looked at the table, holding their chin in thought. They soon raised their head slightly as they answered Raiden’s question.
“I guess..I would like to see the fireworks.”
“Just how sheltered are you?”, Kung Lao questioned, “Have you seriously never seen fireworks before?”
“I don’t know, have you ever fought a pyromancer and cryomancer at the same day before?”
 “Well, yes but only once-”
“Then there is a first time for anything!”
“Those are two completely different things!”
“Guys! No need to get heated up over something so trivial.”, Raiden reasoned, both his friends turning away from each other with a pout, which was a bit hilarious to see. He laughed a little, “Well, what do you say Kakkō? You, me, and Kung Lao going to the festival. I’m sure we’ll have a great time.”
Kakkō looked at him with a mixture of excitement and softness, “Absolutely! Let’s do it!”
 “Do what, Kakkō?”
The three turned to see Lui Kang just entering the room, Raiden and Kung Lao greeting him with respect.
“Lord Lui Kang.”, Raiden stated, “We were thinking about attending this New Year’s festival.”
“I see.”, Lui Kang responded, “But I must remind you, you have work to do in the Wu Shi as well. We do not have much time before the tournament takes place.”
 “Of course, Lord Lui Kang.”
Lui Kang nodded, and left the three to their devices. Kung Lao picked up his half-finished hat and placed it on his head.
“Well, you heard Lord Lui Kang. We have training to do.”
“If Raiden beats you, I get to eat your dumplings.”
 “Oh, you’re on!”
“K-Kakkō! Don’t drag me into this!”
 The shapeshifter shrugged, “Sorry.”
Their day at the Wu Shi felt more dragged on than usual, Kakkō constantly looking at the sky to make sure they wouldn’t miss the festival. Elder Gods be damned if they missed the fireworks again. They had been around festivals before, they certainly knew what they were, but they would never stick around for long, always forced to admire the colorful lights from afar. But this time, they would make sure to enjoy it up close. With people they loved this time.
This was easier said than done. Because no matter how fast Kakkō finished their chores, the monks always seemed to have more work coming their way. It was like they had a vedetta against them having fun. Hope was slowly being lost as Kakkō watched the sky darken above them, and as the faint sounds of the festival reached their enhanced ears, they silently mourned the loss of their chance.
“Are you okay?”, Raiden asked as the two sweeped the floors of the dining area.
Kakkō sighed, “I missed my chance again.”, they said as they slumped against their broom, “Now I’ll miss the fireworks again.....”
Raiden gave them an understanding look, “Well, we were needed here, and you know well that our realm needs us.”
Kakkō let out a groaning noise from their throat.
“Maybe next year we’ll catch it.”, Raiden said.
Just as Raiden went back to sweeping, however, Kung Lao burst into the room, running up towards them.
 “You two!”
 ”Kung Lao. Is everything alright-?”
“The festival.”, Kung Lao stated as he halted to a stop in front of them.
“It’s too far. We won’t make it in time...”, Kakkō sulked.
 “Nuh-uh. It’s not too late, let’s go.”
“I think I have to agree with Kakkō on this one, Kung Lao. The festival is too far  for us, we won’t make it in time.”
“You are right. We won’t make it in time, as humans.”
The two raised their heads to look at him, then each other, and the next thing they knew they were flying through the skies and towards the festival. The two boys held onto their hats for dear life as Kakkō carried both of them in each hand.
“Do we weight anything to you??”
“Nah, it’s like holding a couple of grapes.”
They finally arrived at the festival. Kakkō landed on a rooftop, placing their friends down carefully. Just as they retracted their black wings back into their being, the sky lit up. The three turned their gazes to the sky, admiring the colorful fireworks erupting above. Kakkō’s white pupils dilated at the sight, feeling the warmth of the fireworks on their skin.
 Kung Lao turned to them.
“Told you it wasn’t too late.”

Under the Moth’s Wing CH6: Lady Wifi
April Fools! The joke is I don’t have anymore of this story ready after this chapter, so this is all you guys get for now. Also Ladrien in Adrinette April? ;) Anyway, I’ve been busy, so I haven’t had much time to write or work on this one, but I promise I’ll be getting back to it soon! Until then enjoy this update ;)
Read on AO3
Chapter 6
“Hey, bugheads! Alya here with another update on Paris’s new superheroine! Our girl has done it again, defeating Stormy Weather earlier this afternoon. I wasn’t able to get much footage because I was stuck under ice, but I haven’t given up on our mission to find out who the girl under the mask really is. None of my current theories have much evidence, so one thing is for sure: Ladybug is seriously good at keeping her identity a secret, but that won’t stop me from investigating! I’ll keep you guys updated. Bye for now, bugheads. Don’t forget to stay connected!”
Adrien dimmed the screen on his phone at the dining table, and his father sipped his coffee pensively.
“Alya is really interested in finding out Ladybug’s identity. I think she could lead us to her,” he said.
“Excellent work, Adrien. I think you’re right, this girl could prove valuable to our cause.” His father smirked, the closest expression to a smile his father was capable of in Adrien’s experience. “Keep an eye on her, and let me know if she finds anything.”
“Yes, Father.”
School was like any other day, and Adrien was finally starting to get into the routine. He greeted various classmates as he passed them on the way to the locker room. Marinette was standing by her locker with her back to him, and he ran his fingers down the soft yarn of his new scarf with a smile.
“Hey,” he called as he approached. Nino got onto him about sneaking up on people, so he’d been making more of an effort to announce himself.
Marinette turned to him, with a cheery smile, though her eyes widened like she was still startled to see him. Drat. He’d have to work harder.
“Hi, Adri-you! You-drien! Ad-you. Hey, hi. What’s down? I mean, what’s going up?” She slapped a palm to her forehead with a sigh.
“Uh…” Adrien tilted his head to the side. Maybe shouting wasn’t the best way to announce himself. He’d clearly made her flustered. “I just wanted to come thank you for my new scarf and wish you luck in the tournament.”
“Oh! Yeah, right. The scarf. You’re so welcome. I mean, it wasn’t any trouble at all.” She giggled. “Does this mean you like it?”
“I love it!” He placed a hand on her shoulder. “No one’s ever made me a gift like this before. I’m just really glad we put our differences aside, and I hope we can become good friends from now on.”
“Me too!” Marinette squeaked.
The bell rang, and Adrien gestured for Marinette to walk with him to class. She offered him a stiff smile and fell into step beside him. Silence stretched between them as they crossed the courtyard, but rather than the hostility Adrien had grown accustomed to with Marinette, this felt more… awkward. Like neither of them knew what to say after being enemies for the first three weeks of knowing each other. Adrien tried not to let it get to him as they made it to class. After all, his friendship with Nino had started off slow too. They’d get there eventually.
Mlle. Bustier’s class was interesting, although literature wasn’t his favorite subject. Adrien surprised himself with how much he enjoyed school, even outside of getting to make new friends. All of the material came quickly to him, and he was consistently one of the highest grades in the class after Max — a fact he used as evidence when proving to his father that letting him go to public school was a good idea.
Midway through a lecture about Shakespeare, Adrien’s phone buzzed in his pocket. With a quick glance up at his teacher to ensure he wouldn’t get caught, Adrien spared a glance at the text.
I’ve akumatized a disgruntled office worker uptown. Stay put and keep an eye on the girl with the blog.
Adrien tucked his phone away with a sigh. At least his father sent a warning text this time, but there was no way he could sneak out of school and make it uptown in time to see Ladybug. Oh well. If Alya managed to learn her identity, Adrien could just ask her out in person.
Everyone’s phones buzzed with an akuma alert — a new emergency broadcast the police had come up with after the Stoneheart incident. Mlle. Bustier instructed everyone to remain calm as the threat was nowhere near the school.
“Mlle. Bustier!” Marinette’s hand shot up. “Can I use the restroom?”
“Yes, but hurry back.” Mlle. Bustier gave a permitting nod, and Marinette darted for the door.
Adrien leaned against his fist as Mlle. Bustier resumed her lesson, the rest of which was uneventful. The akuma threat stayed across town, never giving the school a reason to lockdown, and much to Adrien’s dismay, he never saw Ladybug.
When the bell rang to signal the end of the period, Mlle. Bustier quirked a brow at Marinette’s abandoned backpack.
“Alya, can you make sure Marinette gets her bag back?” she asked.
Alya’s eyes furrowed as she gathered her friend’s belongings and slung the pink bag over her other shoulder.
Adrien tailed her up the hall, keeping enough distance to not seem suspicious. She was watching news footage on her phone as she crossed the courtyard toward the locker room, but she made no moves to sneak out to get in on the action.
The day wore on, but Alya stayed put, shifting from class to class with Marinette’s abandoned bag in tow. Where had she gone anyway? Was her bathroom trip really that much of an emergency? Adrien shrugged it off, seeing as Marinette wasn’t his target, and he really didn’t want to know what she was up to in the bathroom.
After their final class, Adrien followed Alya back to the locker room with a sigh. Nothing exciting happened after all, and he missed seeing Ladybug too! Maybe the whole Ladyblog thing was a bust.
Alya stopped short, ducking behind a row of lockers, so Adrien did the same a few rows down. She peeked around the side to the next row, but Adrien was too far away to see what she was spying on. Or who she was spying on. After a few minutes, she paced swiftly back up the room toward the door, and Adrien fumbled to act natural, though Alya paid him no mind. He waited a few seconds, then followed.
By the time Adrien made it out of the locker room, Alya had already sprinted across the courtyard and up the stairs to the exit. Adrien jogged after her, making it out in time to see her dragging Nino down the steps to the banks of the Seine. His eyes narrowed, but he pursued them quietly.
“You absolutely cannot tell anyone what I’m about to tell you!” Alya was saying when Adrien paused on the stairs above their bench to listen.
“What are you talking about? I have to go pick up my little brother,” Nino said, sounding annoyed.
“My sisters go to the same preschool as your brother, they’ll be fine.” Adrien could picture Alya’s eye roll. “What I’m about to tell you is the biggest scoop.”
Nino sighed. “Fine, but make it quick.”
“I know who Ladybug is!”
What?
“Whoa, no cap?” Nino gasped, a phrase Adrien still couldn’t decipher. “Who is it?”
Alya got quiet for a few moments, and Adrien strained to listen.
“Pfft, yeah right!” Nino’s laughter echoed up the canal. “You really think Chloe Bourgeois has an altruistic bone in her body?”
“Shh!” Alya hissed. “Look, I saw her stuffing Ladybug stuff into her schoolbag in the locker room. What better cover for a superhero than pretending to be a spoiled brat? No one would suspect her!”
“Yeah, because she’s not pretending. Seriously, there’s no way Chloe is Ladybug,” Nino said.
“You don’t know! I’ll prove it!” Alya shot back.
Adrien rolled his eyes and crept back up the stairs. Some journalist she was. First of all, Ladybug was a radiant goddess, and Chloe was… Chloe. Secondly, Ladybug and Chloe were both at the Eiffel Tower when Stoneheart attacked, so there was no physical way it could be her — a fact Adrien remained grateful for. Alya really was a dead end.
Heading back into the school to prepare for his fencing practice, Adrien clicked the phone icon next to his father’s name. He answered on the second ring.
“I take it since you’re calling that you’ve found something?”
A hello would have been nice, but Adrien was used to his father’s curtness.
“Not exactly. Alya thinks Chloe is Ladybug, but that’s not even possible! I’m sorry she wasn’t more useful, Father.” He lowered his gaze, bracing for the scorning.
“Hmm.” His father hummed. “We may still be able to use this to our advantage.”
“Really? How?” Adrien blinked.
“Ladybug is highly esteemed by this girl. She will be disappointed to learn that her idol isn’t who she thought she would be,” his father said. “She will make excellent prey for my akuma. We just need to be patient.”
“I’m glad I could help?” Adrien smiled, still confused, but happy his father wasn’t angry. “I’ve got fencing now, but will I see you at dinner?”
“I have to be prepared in the instance that Chloe proves disappointing. I need to be ready to capitalize on this girl’s negative emotions,” he said.
“Oh.” His shoulders slumped. “That’s okay. Maybe next time.”
His father hung up, and Adrien tucked his phone back into his bag with a sigh. At least something good was going to come from his efforts. Maybe if they brought his mom back, his father would have meals with him again. It was a nice thought anyway.
The next day, Adrien sat back as Alya crept after Chloe into the locker room, dragging a reluctant Nino with her. An akumatized Alya would likely mean a chance to see Ladybug for him, though Adrien did feel a little guilty for setting Alya up. But only a little. He might have made friends with Marinette, but he hadn’t crossed that bridge with Alya yet.
Speaking of, he hadn’t seen Marinette since she left for the bathroom the previous day. Hopefully she was okay. One thing he hadn’t thought about with public school was how often everyone got sick — a fate he’d managed to escape so far. Maybe he’d get her a get well gift when she got back to school. That was acceptable for friends to do, right?
The bell rang, and Adrien headed to class, though Alya was pointedly missing when Mlle. Bustier shut the door. Chloe strutted in with a smirk, so he could only assume that everything was going exactly according to his father’s plan. Nino’s slumped shoulders seemed to confirm the worst as he slipped onto the bench beside Adrien. With a deep breath, Adrien tuned into the lecture, figuring it wouldn’t be long until Alya interrupted.
A few minutes into class, Marinette crept through the door and into her seat quietly. She seemed to be feeling better when she leaned down to tap Nino’s shoulder.
“Where’s Alya?” she whispered.
“She got suspended.”
“What?” Marinette shot up with a gasp.
Mlle. Bustier stopped her lecture and turned to them with a frown. “Marinette, if you’re going to come in late, at least do so quietly.”
“Sorry.” She waited thirty seconds before tapping Nino again. “What happened?”
“She got caught digging through Chloe’s locker because she thinks Chloe might be Ladybug.” Nino rolled his eyes.
“What?” Marinette gasped again.
Mlle. Bustier turned around again with a steely glare. “Marinette, if you interrupt my lecture again, I’m going to send you to the-”
“Hello, people of Paris! Lady Wifi here bringing you the scoop of a lifetime.” The overhead projector sprang to life on its own, and scarlet eyes glared back at them behind a black mask. Lady Wifi spun the chair next to her around to reveal a cowering M. Damocles. “Why don’t you tell us the real story? Is it true you suspended a girl named Alya earlier for no good reason?”
“I did.” He shrank away from her.
“So, you admit that you were biased?”
“I was.” He frowned.
“I thought so.” A purple beam shot out of Lady Wifi’s phone screen, a pause symbol stopping M. Damocles in his tracks. “I’ve got an even bigger scoop for all of you coming very soon. Stay tuned as I unmask Ladybug!”
The broadcast ended, and Adrien’s classmates huddled together in fear. Even Mlle. Bustier seemed shaken.
“Alya…” Marinette glanced at the empty seat beside her, face sinking.
Adrien shifted his weight, his phone weighing heavy in his pocket. He’d known it was coming, but seeing his classmates tremble in fear still made his stomach twist in knots. As much as he enjoyed seeing Ladybug, he really hoped Lady Wifi succeeded in unmasking her, so they could put an end to this nightmare.
“Stay calm, everyone.” Mlle. Bustier clapped her hands. “Ladybug will get this all sorted out soon. Go home until the all clear texts are sent.”
Adrien hung back from the crowd, retrieving his phone from his pocket.
School was dismissed. How can I help?
He retrieved his books from his locker while he awaited a reply. Halfway up the courtyard, his phone buzzed.
Lady Wifi will be targeting Chloe Bourgeois. Head to the Grand Paris and make sure she succeeds in unmasking Ladybug.
Adrien smiled, tucking his phone back into his pocket. His father didn’t have to tell him twice. He’d happily throw himself in front of Ladybug any day. If all went well, he’d know her identity, and if they played their cards right, she didn’t have to know he and his father were the ones that took her Miraculous. He could totally still ask her out.
The hotel was suspiciously empty when Adrien arrived. There wasn’t even a receptionist at the front desk, which could only mean the akuma was close if everyone was hiding. Adrien took the stairs, but halfway up to Chloe’s floor, he heard commotion coming from the dining room. Cracking the door, he peeked into the room where Ladybug was tussling with Lady Wifi.
Smartphones were scattered around on every table, and Lady Wifi was using them to bounce around the room. Frustrated, Ladybug smashed each one, forcing Lady Wifi to face her one-on-one.
Adrien slipped through the door, pressing himself against the wall to watch their fight, ready to swoop in to comfort Ladybug the moment she lost, but his cover was blown when Lady Wifi sent her flying across the room. She landed at his feet, the shock in her eyes melting into a glare.
“What are you doing here? It’s dangerous, go home!” she growled.
Adrien helped her to her feet. “I thought I could help. What do you need me to do?”
“I need you to get out of here!” Ladybug spun her yoyo in front of them, deflecting a shot from Lady Wifi. Pushing him behind the bar, she tossed the cash register at Lady Wifi.
“But I’ve helped in the past! We make a pretty good team, don’t you think?” Adrien flexed.
“Look, I’m really sorry, but without superpowers, you’re too much of a liability. I’m not looking for a sidekick, so please, get out of he-”
Lady Wifi charged in, catching Ladybug in her brief moment of distraction. The two exchanged kicks and jabs, but Lady Wifi drove Ladybug back, launching her into the kitchen and locking the door. When Lady Wifi disappeared in a flash of light, Adrien raced for the door, but it wasn’t budging. Remembering when he and Chloe would play in the hotel halls as kids, Adrien recalled there was a dumbwaiter they used to ride down to the kitchen to sneak desserts and darted for the stairs. It was a much tighter squeeze than he remembered, but the dumbwaiter held out as he descended into darkness.
“-why won’t it come off?” Lady Wifi growled as Adrien drew closer.
“Uh, because it’s magic,” Ladybug said.
Adrien’s lift buzzed loudly when he landed, drawing attention to him as he toppled out. The alarm was new, and probably a direct result of his childhood escapades.
“Oh, look. Your little boyfriend came to rescue you,” Lady Wifi cooed.
“He’s not my boyfriend!”
Ouch. Technically true, but ouch.
“Ya know, for a girl that loves superheroes, you sure had no qualms joining the enemy to fight against her. I think you’re a fake fan.” Adrien crossed his arms over his chest.
“You- What?” Lady Wifi faltered, clutching her head.
Ladybug used the opportunity to kick the phone from her grasp. It slid across the room, freeing her arms from their locks. Lady Wifi scrambled after her phone with a growl, flicking her scarlet gaze between Adrien and Ladybug.
Adrien braced as she charged for him, attempting to dodge her fist, but her foot collided with his stomach, knocking him winded onto the cold floor of the freezer. He rolled over with a wheeze as the door slammed shut and crawled to his feet.
“Why don’t you prove to all of us that you’re the real deal, Ladybug? Let’s see you save your little boyfriend, hero,” Lady Wifi said.
Adrien tried the handle, but the door wouldn’t budge. Cold pricked his skin, trailing goosebumps up his arms. He huddled down into the warmth of Marinette’s scarf, rubbing his arms. He’d never appreciated his new friends more.
“Adrien?” Ladybug beat on the door. “I’m going to get you out of there.”
“Yeah, n-no p-problem. I’ll just chill in here.” Literally.
“Lucky Charm!”
Wait, she was really going to waste her lucky charm on him? That had to mean she was into him, right? She was worried about him getting hurt earlier… The thought warmed him up quick.
“You’re all about to get the scoop of a lifetime!” Adrien’s phone sprang to life in his pocket, Lady Wifi’s broadcast taking over every screen in Paris. The image shifted to the scene of Ladybug scrambling around the kitchen with a red and black spotted box. “We all look up to her, but can we really trust her if we don’t know who she is? In just a few short minutes, she’ll transform back, and all of Paris will know what she’s been hiding!”
Pots and pans clanked on the other side of the door as Ladybug shoved things out of the way. She heaved the microwave onto a cart and placed her lucky charm inside. Plugging it into the outlet outside the freezer, she shoved the cart against the door and turned the microwave on.
Of course! The microwaves would jam the signal to the lock on the door. His lady was so smart, but why was she using it to free him when she could use it to escape the kitchen and take down Lady Wifi? Saving him was a waste of time! Not that he should complain. If she lost, it was a win for them, and his heart skipped knowing she desperately wanted to save him. All in all, his plan to ask her out when all was said and done looked really promising.
The microwave blew on the other side of the door, and Adrien pocketed his phone before she ripped open the door and pulled him out. He collapsed into her arms, nuzzling into her warmth. It was dramatic, but after being locked in a freezer for two whole minutes, he deserved to be snuggled by a beautiful superheroine.
“Are you okay?” Ladybug held him close, rubbing his arms.
Adrien would have savored it more, but the scent of burnt plastic and smoke from the busted microwave in the corner was ruining their moment. Her red and black spotted box lay abandoned on the floor, having fallen out of the microwave when it exploded.
“You used your lucky charm to save me. Why?” Adrien frowned.
“Well, I can’t have my favorite little sidekick freezing to death.” She brushed his nose with the tip of her finger and smiled. ]
His cheeks burned hot, pushing out any traces of cold left in his body. That was a statement he’d be dissecting for hours later.
“Thank you. You really are a hero,” Adrien said.
Ladybug stood up, helping him to his feet, and surveyed the room. The doors were still locked by Lady Wifi’s magic, and with the microwave busted, they weren’t getting out that way any time soon. She touched a hand to her earrings when they beeped and pursed her lips.
“After I defeat Lady Wifi, the doors should open.” She retrieved her lucky charm and crawled into the dumbwaiter. “Please, stay out of trouble. I really mean it this time.”
“I’ll do my best,” Adrien said. He pressed the button on the dumbwaiter and sent her up, rubbing his palms on his jeans.
The camera icon in the corner disappeared, and Adrien retrieved his phone from the freezer, a live feed broadcasting their battle on the roof. Lady Wifi was likely planning to stall Ladybug until her timer ran out, so it would behoove him to stay put until she won. As far as his father was concerned, getting her to waste her lucky charm saving him to start her timer was a valiant effort toward their cause, even if it wasn’t his original intention. But Ladybug chose to save him even though it set her back. The least he could do was return the favor. Comatose mother in need of magical earrings or not, Adrien owed her.
Adrien zoomed in on the wifi box on the roof and pursed his lips. Helping Ladybug was risky, especially being openly broadcast to everyone in Paris — including his villainous father who was counting on him to make sure she lost. He’d think of an excuse later. Right now, his future wife needed him.
Adrien crawled back into the dumbwaiter, lifting out the same way he’d come in. The pool deck had been abruptly abandoned when the akuma broke out as all of Paris moved indoors to avoid getting caught in the crossfire. Only a crazy person would willingly throw themselves in the middle of a battle between two girls with superpowers, but Adrien had always read that love made people do crazy things. So, as Lady Wifi’s camera followed their action on the other side of the pool, he grabbed an abandoned drink from a table and climbed up to pour it on the wifi box.
With the signal around the hotel jammed, Lady Wifi’s powers evaporated, and Ladybug kicked the phone from her hands, smashing it with her yoyo to reveal a black butterfly.
Adrien climbed down as she captured the akuma, slipping into the stairwell while her back was turned. He retreated down to the restaurant, blowing a sigh through his lips. Hopefully his father didn’t see him actively betraying their mission by helping Ladybug. Something told him his father wouldn’t understand Adrien’s life-for-a-life philosophy.
Ladybug’s magical ladybugs swarmed the dining room, fixing all of the damage. They even swirled around Adrien, removing the ache from his ribs where Lady Wifi kicked him — a strange sensation Adrien couldn’t even begin to describe. The lady of the hour emerged from the stairwell, stopping short when she saw him. Relief flooded her expression, bringing back the warmth to Adrien’s cheeks. Why did she have to be so gorgeous and concerned for him?
“I see you figured everything out in the end,” Adrien said.
Ladybug approached him, crossing her arms over her chest. “I know it was you that fried the wifi signal. I couldn’t have defeated her without your help.”
“Well, to be fair, it was my fault you used up your lucky charm.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “And I was really touched when you chose to save me instead of chasing after Lady Wifi.”
“I wouldn’t have to save you so much if you weren’t always throwing yourself into dangerous situations, ya know.” Ladybug chided. Her earrings beeped again, and she glanced around frantically. “I’m about to change back.”
“Here.” Adrien pulled open the janitorial closet.
She rushed in without a second thought, trusting him so easily. Pink light flashed through the cracks, and Adrien’s hand hesitated on the handle. He could open the door and figure out her identity. He could bring it home to his father like a trophy. They’d be one step closer to waking his mother up. But as his fingers slipped from the handle, legs carrying him down the stairs and out to the sidewalk, he couldn’t bring himself to regret the decision.
Ladybug trusted him, and even though he’d have to betray her eventually, he wanted to enjoy the double agent gig for a little while longer. Why did she have to look so beautiful in the dim restaurant lighting? His enemy being the most gorgeous woman in the world was the real crime. The way her mask furrowed over her blue eyes when she was worried about him was to die for. And something told him death wasn’t off the table as he headed home to his father.
Dinner was ready when he arrived home, and to his surprise, his father was already seated in the dining room. He instinctively straightened, taking his normal seat at the opposite end of the table. Was his father dining with him because he did something right or because he knew Adrien helped Ladybug escape again? The silence was deafening.
“So…” Adrien cleared his throat. “We were really close this time.”
“Yes.” His father nodded. “Great work. Baiting out her lucky charm was an excellent idea. I’m proud of the lengths you went to on this mission.”
“Oh.” Adrien perked up. “Yeah, totally. That was my plan all along.”
“I know I was hard on you, but getting your mother back is important to me. I want our family to be whole again. I’m sure you understand,” his father said.
Adrien straightened. “I do, Father. I’ll keep working hard to help you in any way that I can.”
“Thank you, Adrien. I can’t do this without you.”
Adrien bit back a smile, taking a sip of his tea as their staff brought out the first course. Everything worked out in the end. His father didn’t know he helped Ladybug win or that he gave up a chance to learn her identity. Ladybug thought of him as a trusted ally, which meant he would definitely be seeing her more in the future. If Adrien played his cards right, he could get everything he wanted. His mom, the girl of his dreams, his father’s regard…
Adrien’s heart skipped. For the first time since they started, Adrien felt like everything was going to be okay. His skin still crawled at the thought of hurting people, but if they got their wish, they’d set everything right in the end. Until then, he’d keep working hard to help his father. After all, it was the first time he’d ever told Adrien he was proud of him.

I'll be honest, I've never written a JouKai before, but I've read enough over the past few days that when I stumbled across a writing prompt on Pinterest, Violetshipping was the first thing that came to mind. Prompt pic from Pinterest at the end.
Seto stared at the blond lying bandaged in the hospital bed. Joey had been unconscious since the accident, which had been four days ago. As soon as Seto had received the call, he'd called for an airlift transport to bring Joey to his estate. There was no way he was going to leave the care of his boyfriend in the hands of sub-par physicians. He would ensure that Joey received only the best in regards to medical care.
“Seto, you’ve rescheduled the shareholders meeting three times now. If you reschedule it again, it won’t look good,” Mokuba reminded him for the umpteenth time.
Seto squeezed the unresponsive hand that he held. “I don’t care. We’ll recover from any losses.”
“We have the best doctors taking care of him, and everyone knows to alert you the moment he wakes up. Please, Seto. You haven’t eaten or slept properly since he’s arrived, and we can’t afford a hit right now. You have to think about the people that work for us.”
He knew Mokuba was right, but he didn’t care. Right now the only person he cared about, aside from his own brother, was lying in a coma.
Mokuba shook his head in defeat, then left the room.
Seto leaned forward, resting his head on the edge of the bed. He was beyond frustrated. What good was having the best medical equipment and staff money could buy if it couldn’t even keep Joey out of a coma?
He’d spent their highschool years teasing Joey, referring to him as a ‘mutt’ and calling him a ‘third rate duelist with a fourth rate deck’. That is, until he saw Joey’s strength of will in the Battle City tournament. If he’d been able to make that final play…
Seto winced at the memory. It was painful to remember the sight of Joey being struck down by a very real, non-holographic, attack. After that day, Seto could never look at him as just some ‘idiot with dumb luck’. Sure, Joey was still an idiot at times, but he was his idiot.
“Wheeler, you survived the attack of a God. If a little motorcycle accident is what takes you out, then I might have to go back to calling you ‘third rate’.”
There was still no movement coming from the hand in his, even though he could easily picture Joey going off on him for threatening to go back to the ‘third rate’ taunts. He turned his face towards the annoying blond, praying to at least see some movement behind those closed lids. Joey’s face remained unmoving, and a tear escaped from the corner of Seto’s eyes as he shut them tightly to prevent more from coming. Tears would do nothing to help the situation.
Seto opened his eyes, feeling groggy. Had he fallen asleep? He lifted his head to look at the time, but paused at the sight of a pair of brown eyes staring at him.
“Hey…sleepyhead,” Joey managed to say weakly.
It took all of Seto’s self-control to not pull the idiot into a crushing embrace. Instead he put that feeling into squeezing Joey’s hand.
“Who are you calling ‘sleepyhead’? At least I haven’t been asleep for the past four days.”
Seto was certain that the weak expression that Joey expressed was one of shock.
“Four…days?”
“Yeah.”
“Have you…been here…this whole time?”
Seto sighed heavily. “Yeah.”
He was certain that the new expression was supposed to be a smile.
“Don’t you…have a company to run?”
“My favorite idiot is in the hospital. The company can wait.”
“I don’t think…it works like that.”
“I run the company, so yes it does.”
Was that sound Joey made meant to be a laugh? It was hard to tell since he winced at the same time.
“Stupid…rich-boy.”
Seto smiled at the old jest.
“Wheeler, you ever worry me like that again, and I’ll have you disqualified from participating in every future tournament.”
“Do that…and I’ll tear your Blue-Eyes…in half.”
“Not in your current condition you won’t.”
Joey closed his eyes and didn’t reopen them immediately.
“Wheeler? Joey?!”
“Could ya…not yell? My head…kinda hurts.”
Seto relaxed and shook his head. Only Joey would wake up from a four day coma and complain about a headache.
He lifted the hand that he’d refused to let go of and brought it to his lips, placing a gentle kiss on it.
“I’ll have someone bring you some pain reliever.”
“That would be…nice.”
Seto made the call, his chest feeling lighter than it had in the past four days. He checked the email that Mokuba had sent a few hours ago informing him that the shareholders meeting had been rescheduled for next week, and that he’d managed to explain that this current rescheduling had been due to a family emergency.
He was certain that some of the shareholders were probably thinking this was just an excuse to delay the meeting, but he didn’t care. There were two people that meant more to him than the company, one of them was his brother, and the other was weakly complaining about his stomach being empty.

When Jasper Met Rhaenyra (Part 2): Jasper Dayne Blurb #3
112 AC
At the age of seven and ten, Jasper Dayne became the Sword of the Morning. Dawn had sat in its place of honor until House Dayne decided that Jasper was worthy of the sword and its accompanying title. And now that he had achieved his goal, Jasper had a new one: to reunite with his beloved Princess Rhaenyra.
With the tournament to celebrate the birth of King Viserys and Queen Aemma’s first son coming up soon, Jasper had the perfect excuse to return to Kingslanding. And now the newly made Sword of the Morning was preparing to leave for the Red Keep.
The maid who was packing Jasper’s clothes walked into the study that Jasper had begun using in the year since returning to Starfall. “Your father is requesting your presence in his study, Lord Jasper.”
"Thank you, Becca," Jasper replied, rising from his desk and putting down the novel he was reading.
Jasper makes his way to his father’s apartments, where he has spent most of his time these days since falling ill a few months prior. He quickly reaches Samwell’s door and comes face to face with his father’s sworn shield, Ser Desmond the Silver. He was a former hedge knight who was known for his odd silver hair and who had protected Samwell since before Jasper and Ardyn were born.
“Is your father cross with you again?” Desmond asked, his usual good-natured smirk gracing his face.
Jasper shrugs. “Who knows?”
Desmond opens the door, and Jasper steps inside. Samwell is sitting on a couch, hunched and pale. In the past few months, Jasper had noticed his father had lost a sustainable amount of weight. Whenever anyone mentioned it to Samwell, he would raise hell about how he was fine, but everyone knew differently. He had taken to walking with a cane on Rhea’s instruction after falling about a month ago. Samwell Dayne was on his last leg; it was only a matter of time until Ardyn would become Lord of Starfall.
“Father, what did you need to see me for?” Jasper asks, sitting on the couch next to his father.
"Even though I know your mind's made up, I'm asking you to postpone your trip to Kingslanding once more," Samwell said, letting out a short wheeze. “I would hate to see you hurt.”
“I know winning the princess’s hand is a long shot, but I at least have to try,” Jasper said. “I’ll regret it for the rest of my life if I don’t try.”
Images of the princess’s lovely face swam in his head. He wondered how much she had changed in their year apart; Jasper sure had. He had grown into his awkwardly long limbs, and his shoulders had become broad, and his skin had browned from his many hours in the sun. He had a full beard now that his mother hated, and his curly brown hair was nearly long enough to touch his shoulders. The only thing that hasn’t changed is the white streak in the back of his hair and his distinctive purple eyes.
The older Dayne chuckles and pats his son on the shoulder. “I know, my son. I hope you win the girl’s heart.”
With his father's reassurance, Jasper set off for the Red Keep. Little did he know that by the time he reached the city, Queen Aemma would already be gone.

“Rhaenyra,” Jasper said softly after searching for the Red Keep for the princess.
She's sitting in the godswood, wearing a black gown and her long silver hair loose down her back, with an open book in her lap. The princess doesn’t respond to Jasper’s call; she just continues to look at the sky. He calls her again. She still doesn’t talk, but she looks at him this time.
“They’re ready for you,” Jasper said quietly.
Since King Viserys no longer had a dragon, it was up to Rhaenyra to give Queen Aemma a proper Targaryen funeral. Rhaenyra rises from her place at the foot of the tree, letting her book fall to the ground, and walks to Jasper. She halts in front of him. With her so close now, Jasper can see her nose and eyes are red from crying.
“I don’t know if I can,” she whispers to him.
To Jasper’s surprise, Rhaenyra wraps her arms around him and presses her cheek against his chest. Despite his shock, he returns her hug in a bid to comfort the princess.
“I don’t know what to say to make you feel better, but your mother deserves a proper funeral for someone of her standing,” Jasper tells her. “And you’re the only one who can give it to her.”
“I know,” Rhaenyra said in reply.
She loosens her grip on the knight and looks up at him. Her Arryn blue eyes are filled with tears once again, and they begin slipping down her cheeks. Jasper uses the sleeve of his black doublet to wipe them away gently. Rhaenyra lets Jasper lead her through the castle and to the waiting parade of carriages in the courtyard. Rhaenyra climbs into her carriage that usually takes her to the dragon pit, and Jasper goes in after her. Jasper frowns when he sees Lady Alicent already inside of it. The young man did not have any personal quarrel with Alicent, but Jasper would be wary around anyone with a father like Otto Hightower.
“How are you feeling, Rhaenyra?” Alicent asked.
Rhaenyra doesn’t answer; she only plops down on the carriage bench across from her friend. Her blue eyes focus on the floor. While watching Alicent, Jasper relaxes on the bench next to his princess. She doesn’t acknowledge his presence; maybe her concern for Rhaenyra is too great, but Alicent had never been thrilled with the presence of Dornish people in the Red Keep.
When Alicent finally seems to notice Jasper. She looks up and down, unimpressed. “Hello, Lord Dayne. You must forgive my impudent conduct; this has been such a strange day.”
“The Queen is dead. I would say this day is more than strange,” Jasper replies with a raised eyebrow. “I guess some may see this as an opportunity.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” Alicent said, her anger rising.
“I think you know,” Jasper said, tilting his head.
“Enough, both of you,” Rhaenyra groaned with a deep sigh.
The carriage lurched and began to roll out of the courtyard.

Day in the life of Guenevere
Tumblr media
Gode dai my fellow ladies of court! ‘Tis I, Queen Guinevere of Camelot, coming to bring you along through a day in my life. I always start my days by wearing Many of you courtly maidens have been asking how I look so effortlessly beautiful of the time–well, you can see here that I was simply born that way.
Tumblr media
I like to start my days praying in the chapel with Sir Galahad if I have the time….just kidding! I barely know who Galahad is, only that he’s important to Lancelot for some reason. This was just a special day; Arthur is sending him off to look for the Holy Grail soon, so I accompanied him during his prayers to God for success in his quest.
Tumblr media
So today was a big tournament day, thanks be to God! The Knights of the Round Table headed off to go joust and do some manly things. I am not entirely sure what it is they do when they go to tournaments. I have far more important things to attend to, such as spending time with the other ladies of court and keeping up appearances! But as long as they keep up Camelot’s status and Arthur remains in power, I’m satisfied! Here, I’m giving Sir Lancelot an article of my clothing that he can wear during the tournament–this is SIMPLY because I am his patron, and was completely platonic unlike what a lot of you were saying earlier. “But Guinevere, a knight wearing a lady’s clothing in battle means she belongs to him!” Um, okay? Stop hating on me, I didn’t even know that was a thing!
Tumblr media
Later on in the day, I accoladed a new knight of the Round Table. It’s not really my job to do that, but Arthur was out hunting with the boys so I had to step up to the plate. Apparently this guy’s name is…Balyn? I think? He slayed a beast, I’m pretty sure, or maybe an enemy king–honestly I was more appreciative of how much money and status he’s going to bring to Camelot. Arthur’s getting a little weak lately, I really must tell him to hold MORE tournaments and hold MORE banquets. Anyway, look how elegant my dress is! Arthur brought it back from France and it makes me look QUITE ethereal.
Tumblr media
I’ll usually end my day with an evening stroll around Camelot. I like to get away from the stuffy castle air and it gives me time to think about whose life I will make worse the next day. Today, Sir Lancelot accompanied me, which was so friendly of him; he’s definitely one of my favorite knights, and I love being his patron.

For Jasonette July 2022 Prompt: Apple Pie and the Tag Team Tournament 2022 Day 1 Prompt
Jason has a surprise for Marinette when he comes home.
Ao3 | Masterlist
A pair of hands snaked around Marinette’s waist as she scrubbed a plate with a soapy sponge and rinsed it in the sink. She quickly dried her hands so she could turn off her music and remove her earbuds.
“Oh,” she exclaimed. “You’re home?”
“Hrghhh,” he nuzzled the back of her neck and sighed.
Marinette continued to do the dishes, even with the new presence behind her. Jason seemed intent on not letting her go, but she didn’t mind. She set the plate aside and picked up a dirty bowl to wash.
“I worked on one of my commissions today, the one for Jagged and Luka. They’re going on tour soon, and I think I’ll be able to finish their outfits in the next few days. Then I took a break and baked apple pie. It’s in the oven right now. You can smell it, right? I baked two, so we have one for ourselves and one to bring to dinner later.”
Jason burrowed his head into her hair. Marinette could feel the gentle puffs of air against her neck.
“You smell good. How come you always do?” He mumbled.
She giggled. “It’s the perfume, Love. The one you picked out for me,”
“Well, I suppose I’m a genius for picking such a lovely perfume that fits such a lovely lady,”
“Of course you are,”
They didn’t say anything else for a while. One could hear running water and the clinking of dishes in the kitchen. Marinette placed the dishes she finished washing in the drying rack. She was close to being done, and then she and Jason could relax together before going to the Manor.
When the last dish was put on the drying rack, Marinette dried her hands and took her apron off to hang in the pantry. Jason followed her on the way there, although it was only a few steps away. But with his hands still wrapped around her waist, Marinette had to waddle awkwardly.
“And when are you planning on letting go?”
“Never!” Came a muffled reply. “You’re mine forever!”
“And you’re mine,” she responded fondly.
The two of them waddled over to the living room, where they settled on the couch. Jason finally let go of her and instead held her hand.
Rubbing his hand, Marinette asked, “How come you were late today? Did something happen?”
“You could say that… can you close your eyes for a moment?”
Did he have something for her?
Marinette shut her eyes tight and focused on listening to Jason’s movements. Once he made sure she wasn’t looking, he shuffled towards a door and opened it. Judging from where the sound came from, he was probably going into the garage. She was burning with curiosity, but Marinette waited. She didn’t want to ruin any surprise Jason had prepared for her.
He moved around in the garage for a bit before she could hear him walking up the steps again and closing the door. Something crinkled, like paper. Jason walked closer to her before sitting on the couch again. Then he took in a deep breath.
“Okay, you can open your eyes now,”
When she looked, Marinette saw Jason had a bouquet in his right hand.
“Oh my god!”
“I was on my way to buy some flowers for you, which is why I was late. I wanted to get something nice for you,”
“Thank you, Jason! I love it!”
“Of course. You are my wife, after all. You deserve the best,”
She took the bouquet from him and held it up to her nose to smell. It was wonderful! And then, Marinette was struck with an idea. Taking one flower out of the bouquet, she tucked it behind Jason’s left ear.
“There, you look so cute like this!” Marinette chuckled.
Jason laughed with her. They held hands again, and Marinette leaned against his shoulder.
“You’re so silly,” he said. “What am I going to do with you?”
Marinette replied, “You’re going to hold onto me forever because I’m yours.”
“And I’m yours, my silly wife.”

I Smiled sitting on my suitcase in order to get it close, going through my list of everything I needed for the trip as soon as I got it to close and lock up, I set my suitcases by my door, putting my jacket over my suitcases and my little handbag on the side by my bags I did another check making sure I had all my makeup, all my jewellery, everything I needed for the trip.
"Little spider!" My father calls from downstairs
"yes?"
"Your Man Is here"
"Hi, Y/n!" I heard benny call too
"Hi, come on up and grab a suitcase" I smiled back and he hurried up the stairs
"Hi" He smiled
"Hi" I giggled giving him a kiss
"This it?"
"Yep two suitcases, my trainbag, my handbag, and my jacket"
"Excellent, I'll take the suitcases and train bag, you good with your jacket and handbag?"
"Yep"
"Alright then let's go" He smiled so we headed down and loaded up the little beetle "You ready?"
"I think so" I smiled
"You have fun little spider" My father smiled giving me a cuddle "Be a good girl, be a smart girl, your grown-ups now and you remember you don't need to compare yourself to anyone you're a whole other level"
"I will"
"Good, and benny. you look after my little girl"
"I will sir" he nods
"isn't Erica going to say goodbye?"
"she's shopping. go on get going before she changes her mind" he says
"Okay, tell her bye" I smiled
"I will"
I gave my father another tight hug before we hurried into the car, he waved us goodbye before he headed back into the house, and I smiled "Hi"
"Hi" He smiled giving me a soft sweet kiss "Now, you are my beautiful little navigator and when we get through new york we will get fries"
"Yay!" I giggled taking the map getting the route set out
"Right, you ready?"
"Very ready benny"
"Right off we go" He smiled starting up the little beetle setting the radio on and slowly pulling out onto the street, both of us giving my dad a wave as we started off down the street.
I sat being a good little navigator or well doing my best to follow the map route we had planned out given I had only ever been to Maine and new York so I didn't exactly know the way but honestly benny did mostly anyways. So I smiled and leant my head on his shoulder
"Aww hello" he smiled giving my head a kiss "not long now almost there. Then we can cosy up in our hotel room"
"And the tournament?"
"Tomorrow morning. Sign in opens at eight first games at ten"
"What will we do for all that time?"
"Well... we could go back to our room? Or we can get a drink at the bar? Have a chat with some of my chess friends who have yet to meet my lovely girlfriend? Maybe do a little press if three about? Compare the competition? Lots of things to do"
"I see" I nodded "you excited?"
"For chess? Of course" he smiled "but I'm also excited for our little holiday"
"Me too"
"And I'm excited for you to meet the chess boys. I can finally prove your real to them" he laughed "and get to show off my beautiful girlfriend"
"Ummm I'm excited to watch you work and see all your friends I'll finally be able to put Faces to the names you've been telling me all this time" I smiled "and the pool"
"You are so excited about the pool aren't you?"
"Yes!"
"Alright maybe we'll go swimming tomorrow night after the games"
"We can?"
"Maybe we'll see how it goes"
"Okay" I smiled hugging his arm closely"I love you" I muttered into his neck
"Awww I love you too y/n" he smiled kissing my head "you have a rest it won't be long till we get to our hotel"
We arrived at the lovely little hotel and parked up the staff taking our bags for us, benny checked us in and soon enough we hurried up to our room, he kept me close almost never letting me out of his arm but I didn't mind.
"Here we are two six four" he says unlocking the door as we headed Inside.
It was a beautiful hotel room with Vegas theming throughout, a balcony that looked over the strip and a large impressive bathroom with a hot tub bath as well as a shower. Our bags are already in the room. Benny already clearing the table to place his chessboard.
"You like it?"
"It's lovely benny" I smiled giving him a kiss
"So no problems?"
"Why would there be?" I asked a little confused
"Well given" he smirked pulling back from me a little and laying himself rather suggestively in the king-size bed
"Well where is my bed then?'
"This is your bed"
"So… where's yours?"
"This is also my bed. So long as… your okay with that?" He asks standing up to take my hand
"Well we've never….shared a bed before" I blushed
"We haven't. We don't have to if you don't want to"
"I never said I didn't… want to" I smiled pulling him into a kiss "so long as you wanna share a bed with me?"
"I do. Very much"
"Good it's all settled then" I smiled grabbing my train bag to begin unpacking
"So…. How about then we get a little unpacking done then. As it's late we get snuggled up ready for the morning?" He suggested
"Sounds perfect benny" I smiled giving him a kiss "I call the left side of the bed"
I woke so sweetly and happily, my body warm and cosy Benny's arm around my waist his head in my neck spooning me tight to his body. The covers around us closely the warm sun mostly blocked my the curtians even if the heat still flooded in. I opened my eyes seeing the little dice clock on the bedside table I knew we had moment's before the alarm benny set last night would sound so I just enjoyed the sweet cosiness of the morning cuddled with him watching it slowly tick over. It began to ring and I felt him stir moving his hand away from me but I pulled him back "Umm I'm just turning it off" he whispered moving to turn the alarm off and returning his arm around me "good morning" he whispered in a deep hushed voice "Good morning" I smiled moving a little to turn and see him his hair in his eyes, his chest bare staring at me so sweetly "This is the first night we've ever spent together" "It is" "Did you sleep okay with me?" "Perfect. We should share a bed every night" "Umm I would if your stepmother would let us" he Cooes "Did you sleep well? I wasn't a bother?" "Not at all my angel. You kept me warm and cosy all night long. I would sell my soul to get you in my bed every night" he Cooes leaning down to sweetly kiss me I happily kissed back even if it was slow and lazy in our sleep state "maybe I should take you on all my trips. You make hotel rooms bearable" he smiled "I love you. So very much" "I love you too" I smiled "What did you dream about?" "Nothing in particular" "Come on tell me." "I don't know. There was a garden. I think there was Monkeys at one point. Then a tsunami. Then I ate ice cream" "Weirdo" he chuckled "Thank you. What did you dream off?" "You wanna know?" "I do. Ohh I can guess" "Alright guess away" "You win the championship today take your money to the tables and get on a fantastic winning streak, and we head home to new York millionaires" "That does sound like a very near dream. But it's not the one o had" "What did you dream then benny?" "I dreamt" he Cooes stroking my hair "that this was our life" "What?" "I dreamt of a place, it was beautiful. This little house with a wooden stairwell, a sweet little porch with a wooden porch swing, a garden full of roses, you had a little sewing room with fabric rolls all stacked up and your machine by the window, I had a study with a bookshelf of chess Boards and another of books, my old typewriter by the window where I could see the garden, we had a little kitchen and dining room, it wasn't much but a cute little house with everything we could need, and you and I shared a bed like this one a big cosy double bed up in our own room, with as many blankets as we needed to keep cosy and warm. Lots of space for all your beautiful dresses and all the lovely clothes you make for me. And we spend every night like this cuddled together cooing at each other" "That's a lovely dream benny" "It was. And... I'd like it to be real" "I would too benny" I smiled getting closer to him to keep snug "No. Really. I want that life to be real. A cosy life with you. I.. I really love you y/n. I've never felt this way about anyone" "Aww benny I love you too that life would be lovely but we've still only kids really. We can't have that kinda life atleast not yet" "Who says we can't? If I win the tournament this weekend I could use the money to... A little ring it wouldn't be much but, for now." "A ring?" I asked in shock "A promise ring. That I promise I'll buy you a nice diamond one in a while once we have the money for one" "Benny you don't have to do that" "Well I want to" "No it's okay. Save your money for the real one. But maybe we could take that money and spend it on... Getting you your first apartment?" "Okay. First apartment. A cheap little place. For us. Our first apartment together" "You mean you'd?" "Of course. I wouldn't want a first apartment without you darling" "That would be lovely. If you win we can go looking on the way home" "Okay. We'll go looking" he Cooes giving me a kiss "Now. As we agreed you stay under these covers while I go for my shower and get dressed" "Alright I won't look at my beautiful girlfriend" "You promise?" "I promise" "Good, see you in five minutes" I smiled giving him a kiss getting out of bed grabbing my towel and my wash bag and heading to the little bathrooms door and I glared at him so he sighed and our the covers over his head "I'm not looking" "Thank you"
I finished up my nice warm shower wrapping a towel around my hair and one around my body climbing out having a initial dry off so I didn't drip everywhere, I nervously opened the door peaking out seeing benny had made a little tent of the bedsheets and even had a book under there to occupy himself so I headed out and went to my cases trying to pick a dress "Whoa." I headed which immediately made me panic turning to see benny now looking at me his eyes wide taking in every inch of me in my towel I grasped my towel in shock making sure to keep it close "Benny!" "What! I just shared a bed with you come on." He laughed "especially if we're going to get an apartment together. I'll see you in a towel at some point" he laughed sitting on the edge of the bed "Still" I pouted "Well you look... Fucking beautiful" he growled "My eyes are up here benny" "They go where they wanna go" he smirked grabbing my waist pulling me to stand between his legs then flipping us over so I laid on the bed "so... Maybe if I win the tournament today do you think I could... Get a look under the towel?" "Benny!" "Please... Pretty please y/n" "I'll think about it" I told him pushing him away and going to get dressed "go on" "What?" "Eyes Mr Watts" "Fine I'll go for my own shower while you get dressed" "Thank you" I smiled as he headed to the bathroom shutting the door so I quickly got decent and sat down at the little desk with a mirror staring to do my make up for the day
I finished up with my hair and my make up slipping my clothes for the day on, my little white heels, my black stockings, my black dress with all over white lace and my black headband in my hair. Benny still in his shower or getting dressed I wasn't sure he took his clothes into the bathroom with him so either was a possibility. I headed the bathroom door as I was working on trying to zip my dress up. I glanced in the mirror seeing him there in his usual shoes, dark blue jeans, his leather belt working hard to keep the tight jeans on the skinny boy. His black slightly silvery button down on with a few buttons undone. And he wolf whistled at me "Benny!" "What? It's a compliment" he says "would you like a hand?" "No I can do it" I defended "Come here" he chuckled pulling my hips to his and taking my zip in hand giving my shoulder she kisses "Zip up benny" I warned as he was actually zipping down the progress I already made "I have made my choice" he smirked "can you blame me for exposing more of my beautiful angel?" "Up benny!" "Alright" he sighed zipping my dress up "Happy now?" "Yes" I smiled turning to face him getting my necklace on "No tip?" "Alright" I laughed giving his cheek a kiss "thank you" "Your welcome. Am I suitable?' "I don't know benny, I've never been to one of these before?" "Yeah but I have to be seen with you, your my girlfriend you should have an input" "You look very handsome' I smiled giving him another kiss "Handsome?" He chuckled "humm I'll start bringing my angel more often she tells me things like that before I go play" he smirked "thank you" "Am I suitable?" "You look gorgeous" he smiled "perfect for showing off to the chess boys" "Who will finally learn I'm real' I laughed grabbing my bag "Franklin Is convinced your not real. Most of them think I'm bullshitting to some extent about you" he explained getting his hat and his jacket on "that you don't exist. That your not actually my girlfriend. That your not half as beautiful as I've described to them" "Well now they will learn" "They will. Come on we don't want to be late" he says offering his hand I happily took it and we headed out of our room benny locking it up behind us but giving me the key to have in my handbag as I had most of our keys as benny never liked anything weighing down his pockets much less when actually playing chess. We headed down and benny signed in getting his paperwork and we headed to the main hotel lobby where the tournament was to be plaid but benny stopped short a little nervous "What is it? You've done big tournaments like this before?" "I know but... This is the first time I have you here with me." He says "Aww benny that's so sweet" I smiled giving his lips a soft kiss "Lucky kiss. Come on you'll do fantastic you always do" I smiled nuzzling with his arm "why? Because your benny watts. My handsome genius" "Yeah. I am. And your my beautiful smart girlfriend whom I love very much" 'i love you too, come on or we'll be late" I smiled tugging him into the lobby.

summary: its always been him, always him for you. you’re entire life was based on him. the carnations were your guide. the petals followed behind. one day it wasn’t about him. you have never felt such relief in your life.
genre: angst - unrequited love, romance
warning: toxic relationship

purple carnation - new beginning
You’re relationship with Sihyun didn’t last after graduation. When we graduated we went to different school. You went to a dance academy to chase your dream of being a dancer and I went to a university that specialised in everything in the medical field with Jaemin. We never saw each other much. I missed you a lot. I’m not sure if Jaemin could tell but it was nice having him around. I did see you that day you were having the dance tournament that really started your career. I was working at the cafe and you were stressed out and I had served you coffee that you ordered. “Hi, Jeno.” I greeted you. “I haven’t seen you in a while,” You said. “How are you?” You asked. “I’m good,” I gave you your coffee. “Are you free to talk?” You asked. “Well, I get off my shift in 10mins, if you can wait then yea.” I had left to go into the back and serve more people while you waited there for me. When I got out you were there waiting for me outside the cafe next to purple carnations. I guess they just followed you everywhere. “How’s Jaemin?” You asked. “He’s well, do you not talk anymore?” I asked. “I guess not, Sihyun really changed my life. I’m gathering it back together now though.” You explained. “I’ve got a dance tournament soon and I’m really nervous since this tournament could make my career.” You held your bag with all your dance gear. “Well I hope you do well,” I said sincerely. It had been so long I forgot how to talk to you. “You wouldn’t mind coming to the tournament to watch with Jaemin, right?” You asked. “Maybe, he might be busy but I can come.” I thought about it. “Yeah, i’ll come tonight.” I went home while you went to your dance studio. I messaged Jaemin about it and he said he couldn’t make it. I’m not sure what happened about between the 2 of you but you should’ve made up by now. I got ready for the dance tournament but I didn’t realise I had to pay for entry. You ended up noticing I didn’t have enough money so you snuck me in as one of your staff. I still think you were smart for that. “Goodluck Jeno,” I cheered you on before you were due on stage. I really wish the best for you.
When you started dancing I felt a wave of emotions. You were beautiful on stage. The admiration I had for you years ago came back seeing you so passionate. I was happy you were on stage doing what you loved most. You were so carefree on the stage it was like a breath of fresh air. The stage was very purple, you were dressed in white with purple carnations all over. They suit you, after that show we ended up talking and walking around all night. We talked about how we use to sneak in conversations while Sihyun’s friends weren’t around it was exhilarating for you. Also those times we would bump into each other at the shops and hang out because we couldn’t in school. It made you realise how toxic your relationship was. Jaemin was in the right to yell at her. After we were done walking around you offered to take me home. I said no, but before you left you told me something. “I love you,” You told me, but I couldn’t accept it and my heart hurt. “Jeno, I don’t like that way,” I told you. “That’s okay. I just thought you deserved to know,” My heart hurt so much I walked away and we never go the chance to speak again. Jaemin was there to cheer me up. He always was. That same night I slept in his arms.

Today is my wedding. Thank you for those years of rejection because I would’ve never found my heart with Jaemin. I hope you can come to our wedding and make up with Jaemin, maybe we can all be friends like we once were again.

Pyramid
Kainora Week, Day 3
This story is set in my Battlestar Galactica AU, several weeks after the Day 2 story. Pyramid is a sport in the BSG universe that I’m going to pretend has rules vaguely similar to pro-bending for the sake of storytelling. Content note for adult tobacco use typical of BSG (which might explain why the Twelve Colonies have FTL and sentient AI but no cure for cancer).
“Are you telling me no one here knows how to play pyramid?” asked Mako, agitation finally boiling over.
When word had gone round that the Quartermaster was organizing a pyramid tournament, it had seemed like the pilots would be a clear contender. Unfortunately, Korra was still stuck in sick bay with a busted knee from her downed airman adventure, and Mako was having a hard time coming up with a suitable replacement.
Jinora had been listening as Mako one-by-one propositioned the various pilots coming in and out of the rec room while she worked on a post-flight report. Normally she would have done it in the duty locker or ready room, but if Chief Sato had said she let the nuggets off Viper maintenance early, and if she’d heard one particular nugget mention he was going to the rec room, and if she’d happened to sit next to said particular nugget—well, that was between her and the gods, thank you very much.
Mako dropped into one of the battered plastic chairs and groaned. “I knew we’d never beat the knuckle-draggers, but I was hoping we’d be able to beat the cooks.”
“C’mon, Mako, I’m sure we’ll do fine,” Bolin attempted to console his teammate.
“Without a third player?”
“I’ll do it.”
Jinora’s head snapped to the voice by her side. “What?” said half the room.
“I played some street ball back in the day,” said Kai. “I remember…some of it.”
Mako took a deep breath. “Well, that’s better than nothing. Okay, sure. Welcome to the new-if-not-necessarily-improved Fire Ferrets, Lefty.”
---
Kai soon regretted the decision, spending basically all his off-duty waking hours (of which there were precious few) in one of the hangar bays serving as makeshift pyramid courts. He said as much before crashing into his rack after his third training session with Mako and Bolin.
“Your pain is my gain,” said Jinora quietly.
“What?” Kai mumbled through the pillow.
“Nothing.”
Okay, so maybe she had snuck down with Opal and watched them practice. And maybe she’d swapped CAPs with Fruitcake to avoid missing one of their practices. And if she had, so what?
As the tournament approached, she could drop the pretense, as more and more of the pilots made a point of watching (though it cost her an overnight double-CAP from Beaks). If there was one thing Colonial officers and enlistees alike enjoyed, it was gambling, and there were a lot of cubits flying around on tournament wagers. Everyone wanted to get the latest updates on the squad, and give what advice they could. Korra even wobbled down on her crutches and appointed herself Kai’s personal coach, critiquing his form and teaching him a lot of things he hadn’t known were fouls.
---
To call it a locker room was generous, really a tool closet that was mostly being used for long-term storage. Mako’s official policy on game day access was “wingmen and copilots only”, but Gonzo was nowhere to be seen so Opal was able to slip in as Bolin’s emotional support instead. Korra had made sure they stayed out of the way for final suit-up and prep.
“First match, you’re up against the snipes,” the self-appointed coach said from her spot the room’s only chair. She somehow made the hard black plastic feel like a throne. “That’s good, means Asami will be rooting for you this round. After that, all bets are off. Winner goes up against winner of the gunners-versus-cooks match.”
“Cross that bridge when we come to it,” said Mako. “Alright, everybody ready?”
Kai groaned. Nobody could blame him for being terrified. That didn’t seem to do anything for the terror.
“Nothing like going up against the Cylons,” said Jinora. “You’ll come out in one piece—probably.” She stole his cigarette, gave him a good-luck kiss, and steered him towards the door. “C’mon, time to show the crew what you’ve got.”
Major Shinobi was playing commentator, hyping up the crowd. Mako and Bolin headed out the instant he called their names, but Kai lingered just long enough for Jinora to give him a push.
And if she had opted for an underhand swat, and if she had aimed right for Kai’s behind, and if it had been perhaps a little harder than it needed to be—that was really no one else’s business, now was it?
