Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson 'Captain America' in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (smiling because of Bucky Barnes 👀)
Also, @wenellyb, do you remember the Anon who randomly sent you a drawing of Sam years ago? Well, I've gotten better at drawing and I'm still unwell about Sam Wilson so here is another drawing for my favorite Sambucky-Blog :)
mcu releasing cacw like: “sorry mackie ur character who is actually a crucial part of the cap storyline historically can’t get any significant screentime in cap 3 yeah we know it’s the final movie sorry we had to have an endless fucking montage of maria stark trauma porn bc it actually wasn’t already clear tony was emotionally unstable and had mommy and daddy issues followed by the wandavision cooking special for,,,,,, reasons,,,,,,,,,,,, and oh yeah did we forget to mention this is actually another avengers movie and the first spiderman??? best we can do is a scene where sam’s mean to bucky lol …… what about steve rogers??? wait whos that uhhhh is he even in this script?”
(it’s bc they didn’t care about developing sam at all until he was their “only” option for cap and could safely not be shipped with steve if they ever actually interacted wait what huh who said that)
What if...? season 2 really solidified my absolute hatred of Captain Peggy Carter.
Where the fuck is Sam Wilson? Marvel really needs to stop pushing this colonizing white lady as their big girl boss lead. She's not interesting.
I 100% believe the showrunner for What if...? is living out her self insert fantasies. Which hey, a good self insert has its time and place but not when you're the executive producer of a whole ass show.
And I repeat, where the FUCK IS SAM WILSON? I know we're waiting for Cap 4 and he got his series with Bucky but this bitch keeps showing up and Marvel has been radio silent on Sam.
And yeah, I'm a terrible feminist because I can't stand Captain Carter being so unbelievably overpowered and stealing the story beats and even ACTUAL LINES from the existing characters. Yes absolutely. That's definitely what this is. 🙄
Finished the second season of What If and I need to say something about Peggy.
I feel like her story isn't really "What if Peggy Carter was Captain America" but more "What if Captain America was a woman." I feel like if they put a random female character into that suit, the story would have stayed the same.
Because Peggy doesn't really have a character. She's a badass woman. She's a strong female character who can get by on her own and yay! Feminism!
Sure.
She's not a character, she's an archetype. And given what archetype she is, I was honestly surprised that they kept tying her back to Steve. Even in the actually alternate storylines of the last two episodes, they kept bringing up Steve and tying her motivations back to him. Everything we learn about Captain Carter is somehow connected to Steve.
If Steve doesn't exist, her story doesn't really work. Her character exists to be a badass independent female superhero and the creators couldn't even do that right.
The creators keep shoving her and Steve together like a little kid playing with dolls and I need them to find new toys to play with, because these ones are old and worn down and broken.
You broke it, you don't get to play with it anymore!
Sam throws his head back laughing, exposing the long line of his neck, and the ridiculously handsome fella opposite him leans in closer, his smile growing at Sam’s laugh.
And really, Bucky’s doing just fine here alone at their table, where Sam abandoned him with an eye roll and a mutter about grabbing a new round of drinks.
The beautiful, empty glass in his hand creaks in warning, because now there’s a hand on Sam’s waist, spread out and intentionally moving to the small of his back, the little finger rubbing at the waist of Sam’s pants.
Bucky blinks and looks down as he opens his palm and watches the cascade of broken glass. There’s a ringing in his ears that has nothing to do with the music, that boiling feeling shakes something inside him like a pressure cooker about to explode.
since Bucky seemingly showed up with nothing to yell at Sam have we decided if Bucky did in fact pack a bag knowing he'd barge onto Sam's mission or did Sam have this jacket ready for him?
me seeing the almost dead fandom of three people of winterfalcon with like 15 prompts of fanfictions on my drafts and one 10k+ word one cooking in my toy oven of gay fics
Apparently there are two reactions to the recent What if...? episode.
Unhinged feelings of validation that yes Stucky's narrative is inherently romantic.
Unhinged anger at the audacity of Marvel to use Stucky's template for a het romance.
I mean both reactions are valid because on the one hand it IS validating AF to see the same story structure follow a romantic beat. On the other hand it's disgusting that the original romance in the Stucky narrative was never supported by the unyielding conservativism of the Disney/Marvel conglomerate.
Also, personally, I hate Captain Carter because I feel like Disney/Marvel is pushing her character in lieu of supporting the very much more interesting Sam Wilson in a not unsurprising racist turn of events, so that colors my reaction significantly to any story that includes her.
You can't girl boss your way out of a choice to feature a white woman from the worlds largest colonial power instead of pushing for stories that focus on an American black man.
