Could you do a fix that is dorm leaders x a reader who is like Nobara from jujitsu kaizen? Like most of the time she is goofy and a little bossy, always focused on her looks; but then during overblots she get really serious and a little phyco?

Targeted towards female reader, but no gender-specific pronouns are used.

Riddle Rosehearts

You both did not get along at the beginning. Not only would you not follow the Queen’s rules, but you viewed them as dumb. Plus, you often goofed off with Ace and Deuce and he definitely does not like that. In addition to all of that, you stood up for yourself against Riddle’s tyranny. And finally, you were obsessed with how you looked at all times.

However, when he overblotted, he saw you really put yourself and others to work. You took charge and ordered everyone around as you went in to attack. You were willing to inflict pain upon yourself, and he was put off by that significantly. He was no match for you, as you had passed Satoru’s test with flying colors back in your world.

It wasn’t until you were helping him in the infirmary that he got to see your more caring side. The way you looked at him was very uncharacteristically kind, but he welcomed it. You scolded him for not informing you that he was struggling with family issues beforehand, and he let out that classic anime sweatdrop.

But, now that the two of you were together, things were for the better. You still retained your very ‘superior’ attitude, but instead of you being #1, you and Riddle were #1. You often acted in his place because you were able to keep a level head in stressful situations, and even did a King of Hearts move where you would ask him to give a fair trial.

Leona Kingscholar

Again, you both did not get along at first, but that’s because your prideful personalities often clashed with each other. You both thought you were better than the other, and it didn’t work very well. But, to make him even more angry, you would often goof around with Ruggie so that he was delayed in a task that Leona had given him.

Once he had overblotted, however, he was taken by surprise at your amazing coordination and even level of psychopath-ness. It was very embarrassing for him how fast you were able to take him down. You even stood triumphantly before calming down and helping the nurse get him on a gurney and take him to the infirmary.

During his recovery period, he really got to see your more caring side that you usually reserved for Yuji and Megumi. Unfortunately, this side of you has been wanting to peak out but your friends weren’t there with you. So, Leona was the next best person. You scolded him when he tried to get up when he wasn’t supposed to, but he could tell that you were really worried.

After he was in the clear, you made sure to check on him more. You often brushed him off when he tried to tease you about being scared that he was going to die, saying that it was worrying how he hyped himself up so much only to be defeated in a 5-minute battle. He found your sarcastic attitude very attractive.

Azul Ashengrotto

He thought he would be able to manipulate your pride to get you into a contract, but you were already 5 steps ahead of him. Your training with Satoru Gojo wasn’t for nothing, after all. This often left him frustrated because you could be used as a bouncer or security guard of some sort for the Lounge since you knew how to fight and you fought well.

The second he overblotted, you were taking the reins. You ordered Jade and Floyd around better than he ever could, and he really underestimated your ability to fight as well as overestimated your sanity level. You went batshit crazy, and it freaked him out. And because he froze, you won.

You did help him to the infirmary and helped him through the healing process, and he always grew super flustered when you were especially caring. Like when you helped him sit up in the bed, the skin contact left him blushing. You then scolded him for getting a fever (even though that’s not what it was and he wouldn’t have control over it anyway).

From that point on, you both were great together. You only showed your softer side when you both were alone in his office, and he felt very honored to see that version of you. The two of you are somewhat concerned about your looks, but you make sure to give each other compliments so that you both feel better about yourselves.

Kalim Al-Asim

Kalim tries to see the good in everyone, and he likes your confidence. You always knew how to carry yourself. So, he acted as your cheerleader of sorts. Honestly, it worried you but also boosted your ego more than it should have because now you’re even more prideful than before, much to everyone else’s dismay.

When Jamil overblotted, Kalim got to see a whole other side of you. You took charge of the situation, and even though the Vice Housewarden was very meticulous, you had Gojo as a teacher. There was no way you would have disappointed him, and you wouldn’t have because the battle was relatively easy. Your love interest was very scared by your maniacal look, though.

Once the two of you were reunited, you let out a huge sigh of relief as you ran into his arms. You were exhausted because it has been overblot after overblot after overblot, and the Scarabia Housewarden can see it. So, he led you by the hand to his room where he had you lay down on his bed to get some rest.

Over the next few days, he got to see your softer (but still tsundere) side. As he tried to feed you some of the food that his dorm members made, you would often comment on how you could feed yourself. He wasn’t having any of it, though, as he held the utensil to your mouth for you to take a bite.

Vil Schoenheit

Another case where your personalities clashed. Not only that, but you both were beautiful as well, so it started a rivalry between the two of you. Then there was the fact that since Epel was one of your friends you would often either goof off with him or break him out/make an excuse as to why you needed him so that he could get out of doing his makeup or skincare.

He thought you were just reckless and prideful, until he overblotted. You were like an entirely different person as you took charge and ordered everyone around so that it wouldn’t be too chaotic as you went up against him one-on-one. He thought you were foolish for doing that, but you won by a very large margin.

In the infirmary, he had the chance of seeing your more tender self. You didn’t even care that Vil didn’t have any makeup on as you dabbed a damp towel upon his forehead for the sweat. Even though you denied being worried, he could tell that that wasn’t the truth. Don’t worry though, because your secret is safe with him.

Once the two of you got romantically involved, Vil realized that maybe he didn’t need to compete with Neige all the time. If he had you by his side, then he’s already won. Not only were you a perfect match for him, but you matched him intellectually. It’s like you could read each other’s minds. You knew when the other needed rest.

Idia Shroud

He was very intimidated by you, but this is one of those cases where you lead and he follows. He is a worshiper, often agreeing when you claim superiority over everyone else. But the only reason is because he’s scared you’re gonna beat him up. Poor baby is trembling in his shoes whenever you’re around.

The minute he overblotted, he knew what you were capable of. So, as a result, he posed more of a challenge than you originally expected. No matter, since he had only seen your prideful side and not your insane side that can be very spontaneous. There was no predictable pattern in your actions, and so he was defeated.

Oh, man. We could start an entire romance show with an entire season focused on you helping Idia in his recovery. Feelings were discovered and explored, and you showed how you really felt even though you really tried to rein it in. It was like a cheesy fanfiction trope that no one can resist.

After, the two of you put an official title on your relationship. Everyone was shocked when you came out holding hands and they watched as you helped him to Ignihyde. You shouted at everyone else to mind their own business when they started whispering amongst themselves, and you were pretty close to throwing hands with Ace and Deuce for snickering.

Malleus Draconia

The fae Prince is very amused by your confidence. You are no damsel in distress, and he respects that. He might even humor you and agree that you were the best, and it wasn’t truly false at all since he did think you were wonderful. You were his first friend outside of his retainers or his dormitory.

He has heard of your fights with the overblot phantoms, and he has to say that what he has gleaned from the gossip is that you had a different side of you when you fought in battle. It almost sounds like you went feral, even harming yourself in the process but not caring. All this man really cared about was that you were able to fend for yourself and he was proud.

But, what no one else knows is that you had a third side to you, and it was a more loving side. As the two of you walked under the moonlight each night, you walked arm-in-arm with each other and just basked in each other’s presence. Even though you could be very chaotic, this was a very good way for you to wind down after dealing with NRC’s shenanigans.

Unfortunately, the quiet never lasts since you and Sebek often get into arguments since you both were very prideful. Before you had the chance to accept the knight’s invitation to a proper duel, Malleus stepped in and refused for fear of his retainer dying at your hands. It left you disappointed for the rest of the day, but that’s okay.

Do you think it is possible to adapt the events of Twisted Wonderland for manga someday?

As much as I’d personally love for the event stories to be adapted into a full-blown manga, I really don’t think it’s feasible outside of maybe one-off specials (similar to the anthology comic) or references (like how the Episode of Heartslabyul features Master Chef Riddle as he’s making an apology tart). There are many reasons for this (these also apply for why I don’t think vignettes would be fully adapted into “full” manga):

Firstly, event stories are purposefully limited time in the game; this is to induce FOMO (fear of missing out) and creates a psychological incentive to get in on the hype while the associated story and banners are available. This time exclusivity does not “translate” well into manga, which can be consumed at a far steadier pace.

To add to the last point, TWST is constantly coming out with new events, and at a rate far faster than the main story releases, even if each event is typically short in length. This means a hypothetical event manga may never be able to “keep up” with the new content (assuming the manga’s pace is 1 new chapter per month), unlike the main story which gets far larger gaps of time between major updates. If TWST were to start an event manga at this point, they already have 20ish events and counting to adapt compared to 7 books of the main story (and that’s not even counting minor ones like Master Chef/Culinary Crucibles) 💦

When you really think about it… not a lot actually happens in some events, which wouldn’t make them that exciting to read??? This is most noticeable in hometown events where the bulk of what happens is the characters going around and eating the local foods. Once we have that trivia the first time (via the game), it loses some of its impact in another format.

The stakes are not high enough (most of the time) to warrant dedicating entire volumes to a single event and resolving its conflict. (The main exceptions to this would be the Halloween events.)

There could be some confusion associated with timelines and/or could spoil the main story for som people. For example, events like Fairy Gala: What If have some ties to the ending of book 6.

Lastly… what would we do about the Yuus? The manga adaptation introduces a new Yuu for every main story episode; is there supposed to be a new Yuu for each event…? Do we bring back the manga!Yuus and distribute them among the events? But then what’s really the point when Yuu’s role is greatly diminished in the majority of events??? (Again, this is most notable whenever they visit a new area; Yuu just randomly pops up to each group of students and says/does nothing of note before walking away again. They typically also do not contribute to the resolution, whereas you can at least say Yuu is somewhat involved in the main story.)

As I said at the beginning of this post, I think the events being relegated to short anthology chapters and/or cameos in the main manga, as these formats would resolve many of the issues I identified for a “full” event manga. The anthology chapters thus far do not feature Yuu and instead focus on the boys, and the chapters are short enough that it can cover multiple events in the span of one volume. The cameos would also allow for event outfits to appear without the focus shifting so much into events where not a lot may happen story-wise. Those are my thoughts! 💭

Dorm Leaders and the other students reactions to you singing solo in VDC

Warnings: None :). For the most part, I’m really sorry if this is late, summer school has been on top of my ass and I haven’t been able to rest and get to my requests. Some of the parts may or may not be a little repetitive, hence why I’ve decided in the end to only do the dorm leaders + Jamil, but other than that there’s nothing to worry about! Once again I apologize if you wanted the other characters as well, I’m sorry once again for this being late, so I hope you enjoy @bryzie27! Other than that, there are some slight chapter 5 spoilers, but there’s nothing major. (By chapter 5 spoilers it literally only mentions the VDC performance.)

I’ll be basing this headcanon fic off of this song. This song is hype, I just can’t explain why but I love this song so much and I recommend listening to this song while reading through this :)

Riddle Rosehearts:

You had invited Riddle over to the VDC stage before the show had started, saying you had wanted to meet him there to walk around since there was still some time before the show started

The rest of the VDC group was backstage, getting ready for the performance they’d been training for, so they weren’t exactly going to be aware of the situation onstage

After Riddle had finished checking up on everything around campus he told Trey and Cater to go off and be with their own clubs, he’d go and look for you at the auditorium

While you waited, the staff had called you over, mentioning how the mic and sound was malfunctioning and wasn’t acting properly. So you decided to see if it worked and you asked them to play the song

The staff eagerly agreed, since they wanted to know if they were both working properly, since everyone was quite busy and no one wanted to check if they were working, they were out of options which was frustrating, but, none the less they were relieved when you grabbed the mic

Riddle walked into the auditorium, looking for you, when he suddenly saw you walk onto the stage. The lighted soon dimmed around him and you began to sing

Riddle had never heard you sing before, heck he wasn’t exactly expecting a rock song, as a matter of fact, I can assume most of us would think he wouldn’t even like this type of music, he’s more of a classical music type of guy, but heck, in the end he really enjoyed the song.

Riddle for the most part? He didn’t even think you had it in you to sing on a stage, but needless to say you proved him wrong, and you poured your heart out, not even realizing he was standing there

To say Riddle was impressed was an understatement, he was thrilled! He absolutely loved your voice, and the song you sang made him want to hum along with you. He was very proud of you, words couldn’t express how happy this made him feel

After your little performance you walked off the stage, jumping as you heard clapping behind you. You looked around and saw him approach you, with a smile on his face

“Y/N. I was not expecting a performance from you, but needless to say I truly enjoyed it. Perhaps you should sing more often. It’s a shame that your only a manager, you did a wonderful job.” Your face turned scarlet as you were not expecting him to come so soon, not to mention you weren’t expecting any compliments, let alone from him, but either way, it made you really happy on the inside

“I wasn’t expecting you so soon, I was checking the microphone since they were having issues with the both that and the sound. But everything seems to be fine. So let’s go and look around the stalls before the performance starts!” You smiled up at him and dragged him off, him feeling utterly proud. He figured after VDC ended he’d treat you to something nice, maybe he’d even invite you to the next unbirthday party and have you sing there.

Leona Kingscholar:

You walked into the auditorium, to go check out what had been finished already

Leona had been somewhere back stage, working on some things with the construction team

You approach the stage, hearing the frustrated voices of the staff from far away. After getting to the stage, you approached the staff and asked,

“Is something the matter here?” The staff turned around and seemed to be relieved when they saw you

“Oh, y/n! We could really use your help here, the microphone isn’t working properly and the guys are working on it backstage, one of us had to see if the mic is working and it wasn’t. It’s not working for us anymore when we checked again, so could you check the mic? None of the guys wanna do it.” One of the members said, anxiously awaiting your response

Since you were everyone’s little helper, of course you agreed to help them out. Then again, you also wanted to make sure the mic was working for the other guys since if it wasn’t fixed by the time the show started, that would be an issue

When you began singing, it was like time had stopped for everyone. Everyone backstage dropped whatever they were working on ran out in front to see who was singing, when they got there everyone made a small crowd, watching you. Everyone was beginning to enjoy the song you performed and it made everyone feel hyped for the other upcoming performance

Leona’s ears flicked to the sound of your voice on stage, making him stop in his tracks to listen. He then put down the wooden planks he was carrying, figuring he’d want to go in front and see you singing in person than listening to you backstage

When he got to the stage and saw everyone standing there he walked out in front, then let out a low growl

“And what the hell are all of you stopped for? Get workin’!” Everyone simultaneously turned around and ran off, not wanting to incur his wrath since they had stopped working. He smirked to himself, seemingly glad he was able to confront you alone when you finished singing

Leona was a hard man to impress, that much is obvious, but with how amazing you sounded, you could definitely color him impressed. He didn’t think you had it in you to sing, heck he never he’d like something as loud as rock, but you definitely proved him wrong with your little performance and he loved the song in the end

Once you had finished, the staff began clapping, thanking you for your help and for the small performance you had put on

Leona then approached you from behind, you still occupied with talking to the staff, not noticing the approaching lion behind you. The staff then saw Leona behind you and ran off, telling you they had to leave to get working, leaving you behind with your confusion. You went stiff, however, when you suddenly felt someone lean towards you from behind

“Well well, who knew you had it in ya herbivore. You sounded good, I’ll give you that.” Leona said, dangerously close to your ear, making you squeak and jump. You turned around to face him, face turning red as you saw the annoyingly proud smirk on his annoyingly handsome face.

“Ya face is red, herbivore.” He leaned down and gave you another proud smirk. You ran around behind him

“No it’s not, shut the fuck up, you heard nothing and you saw nothing. I’ll be leaving now.” You backed up slowly as you saw him starting to approach you. Once he finally backed you into a corner he pinned you against a wall. You looked up and pushed against his chest, trying to free yourself.

“You know, your face is pretty red, y/n. Why is that? I just complimented ya, no need to get shy.” He then pulled away and laughed, knowing exactly why you were getting shy, of course, since he’s an ass he decided to push further. You suddenly ducked out from underneath his arms and ran off

“Nope I’m fine, I’m gonna go walk around for now, bye!” Leona watched you leave, chuckling to himself. He’d let you run off for now, but later he’d definitely get you. He never told you about how he would totally love to hear you sing again. Maybe when he caught you he’d take you to the botanical garden and tell you there. Leona didn’t even realize it, but for the rest of the day he found himself humming the song you played.

Azul Ashengrotto:

Azul had some time to spare after getting the board game club all set up, the other members having told him to go out and check out the stalls, they would take care of things when he left. So he figured he’d go around and check everything out since there was still some time left before the show started. You bumped into him along the way and you mentioned that you were going to the auditorium since Jack had messaged you, saying there was something wrong with the microphone and the sound, so you were going to head that way

Azul figured since everything else looked boring, he might as well come along and see if your able to fix it or not. He also, to put it in simple terms, had a crush on you, so you’d best believe he’d want to take any chance he could get at getting you alone. So he followed you, all the way to the auditorium, where the staff members were waiting. Once you had arrived, the staff’s tense shoulders relaxed when they saw you

“Y/n! Good timing, you said you were going to be able to fix it right?” One of the staff members asked

“I’m not sure if “fix” is the term for it. I’ll try and check if it’s working, let me see the microphone. Could you maybe play some music, if the sound wants to work of course.” You laughed and grabbed the mic that they’d handed to you and walked onto the stage. Azul seated himself on one of the seats in the audience and waited for your performance

The last time Azul heard you sing was in class that one time, and that one time your voice just had to give out since you were sick that day. So Azul didn’t really get a good impression of your singing voice, so he figured he’d like to hear you again to see if you sounded better.

Once you started singing it was truly an amazing experience to him. The song you picked had a nice beat to it, it made him feel really ecstatic, you just seemed to magically pull everyone in with your voice and he absolutely loved it.

Azul definitely wasn’t a rock fan, but he could definitely say he enjoyed the song you played. He could definitely also say you were better at singing than most people here at NRC, unfortunately you didn’t give everyone a good impression that one time since you had been sick, but this definitely blew that day out of the water! He’d make sure to tell everyone about how wonderful your voice was

Once you had finished, he and along with the other staff members and construction team all began clapping. It seemed not only him but other people truly enjoyed your voice and a lot of them did let you know, some went back to work, feeling refreshed from having heard your upbeat and lively singing and some crowded around you while gushing about your lovely singing

To put it simply, your voice had put everyone in a good mood; including Azul, who began to walk up onto the stage to also gush about how wonderful you sounded

“My, you truly have a lovely voice, y/n! You should definitely perform at Mostro lounge sometime! I bet you’d definitely draw in lots of people to come and watch!” Azul rambled on, not noticing the way you shyly played with your thumbs, not used to getting so many compliments, especially from Azul, since he never freely complimented people

“Thank you Azul, Maybe another time! Why don’t we go and look around? We should be able to walk around some more before VDC starts.” Azul nodded and led you towards the festival. He eventually came up with the idea of inviting you to Mostro lounge to eat for free if you performed, he already knew in his heart that you would definitely charm everyone with the lovely singing voice you had.

Kalim Al-Asim:

Kalim had been getting ready backstage, after a while had passed he noticed he had nothing to do, and Jamil wasn’t paying attention so he figured he’d go out and find you since he liked hanging around you a lot

Kalim wasn’t able to find you in any of the rooms backstage, then he remembered that you were most likely in the front of the stage in the audience, since you had mentioned you were going to stay out there for a bit

Finding himself on the stage, he was about to call out to you when the lights dimmed around him, which caused him to look around confused. The poor boy only had little time to react, but then a spotlight shone on you, and you began singing

With how excited Kalim felt, he couldn’t even put his excitement into words, but good god he loved your singing so much! The rock song you chose was an upbeat love song, not to mention it made him love your singing along as well, he truly enjoyed it. In the end he had never expected to really like a rock song, but you changed his mind none the less

A selfish part of him didn’t want this moment to end, but he knew he’d be able to ask you later if you could personally sing for him sometime. He also felt confused in the end, since he didn’t understand why you didn’t want to be one of the lead singers in VDC, you would’ve done amazing as one of the main singers!

Once your little performance ended, he begun clapping along with the rest of the staff who’d been watching. He called out as he was clapping,

“Y/nnn!!! That was amazing, I had no idea you could sing, why didn’t you audition for lead vocalist?? You would’ve caught so many peoples attention!!!” Kalim ran over to you and embraced you

You laughed since you found him and his excitement adorable, “thank you Kalim. Maybe next year I’ll audition but for now I wanna watch your performance instead.” You said and ruffled his hair

Later on in that day, Kalim decided he’d have you over at Scarabia so you could perform and maybe even dance there, he wanted to hold a grand party for the event and everyone would be invited. Your performance honestly gave him a lot of energy, he could definitely say that you gave him the energy to be able to perform in front of everyone. Maybe later he’d treat you to something special~

Jamil Viper +:

Jamil had finished preparing a bit early, since he was used to getting dressed quickly when he started his day, it didn’t take him long to fix up his hair and make up. He wasn’t sure what to do in the end, but he figured he walk around before tbe show started

The other VDC members were still busy preparing, even Kalim wasn’t done yet, so Jamil decided to go and have some peace to himself before the show started. He usually never got nervous but it started to dawn on him that he was about to perform in front of millions of viewers worldwide.

As he was racking his brain, trying to come up with a way to calm down, he wandered onto the stage, there he found you sitting in front of a mic. Jamil stood still for a few seconds, he immediately thought “there’s no way they’ll be singing…” but then you signaled to the staff to play the song you wanted.

To say he was shocked was an understatement, he was freaking thrilled. It took a lot to actually get Jamil in a good mood and it took a lot to impress him as well, but you really could color him impressed. He really wasn’t expecting you to sing, especially something like rock, but Jamil found himself humming the tune and somewhere deep inside of him, he’d never admit it but he wished you would’ve been on the main vocalist team. You would’ve pulled in a lot of viewers with how good your singing was

Once you finished your little performance, he began clapping along with the other team members. You shyly thanked the other members and they all walked away, figuring that they’d continue their work. Jamil approached you, with one of his rare smiles on his face

“I didn’t really think you of all people had the guts to sing in front of everyone. But you went out and proved me wrong. You did amazing, you even eased my nerves a bit.” Your cheeks were dusted with a slight pink as he continued to shower you with praise

“Thank you Jamil. I’m glad you liked my performance. I’ll assume your done getting ready?” He nodded and you looked at your smartphone to check the time

“Hey, there’s still an hour left before the performance. Wanna walk around?” You smiled at him.

“Why not?” He walked out with you, not realizing that later on he’d have that song stuck in his head for a while. Jamil figured later on he’d treat you to something special, like one of his dishes, or maybe he’d make you something sweet. Either way, Jamil knew he wanted to show you how much he loved your little show, and he would, after the VDC performance.

Vil Schoenheit:

Vil was the first one who’d gotten ready. Of course he was, he’d been preparing his make up look and his outfit for days now, how could he not be prepared?

After Vil had finished, he had checked the time, noting that it was still a bit early, he decided that he’d go and check out the other festivities.

For the most part, however, he wanted to walk around and see what the stalls had to offer. He noticed that the other members weren’t ready yet, so that just left him and you. Once he looked through all of the rooms and realized you weren’t there, he went off to go and look for you.

Vil walked out onto the stage, trying to spot you in one of the seats in the audience, when the lights suddenly turned off, making him flinch. He was about to call to the staff and ask them what had happened when a spotlight suddenly shone itself onto you, and you begun to perform

Vil had never once thought you of all people had such an amazing voice. Not to mention the song you played for everyone was an upbeat song and it could attract lots of listeners. He felt himself grow curious as to why you didn’t audition for one of the main parts, he definitely would’ve accepted you. In the end, Vil found himself humming along to that song and once you’d finished, he clapped along with the rest of the staff

“Thank you y/n!! You’re a big help!!” The staff removed the mic and took off, still having work to do. Vil approached you from behind and waited until you noticed his presence. When you turned to face him, your eyes widened a bit before you smiled at him

“Vil!! What’d you think of the song I played? I’d love to get your opinion!” You waited until you saw one of his rare, genuine smiles creep up onto his stunning face

“I’m surprised I found myself enjoying a loud song like that. I might have it stuck in my head now, especially the ending part. Your singing was also amazing, I still can’t understand why you didn’t audition to be one of the main vocalists. I would have agreed if I’d known.” You blushed at his response. Compliments from him were rarer than any jewel, and yet here he was, giving you his high praises, frankly, you thought you might faint

“Your little show put me in a good mood. Why don’t we take a stroll around the outside? I’ll treat you to something while we’re at it. This also gives me a perfect opportunity to take you out on a date.” Vil smiled and began walking off, leaving you completely flustered at his last comment. Maybe next year you’d audition for a spot with the main vocalists. And you hoped that he’d watch you when you performed for the world to see.

Idia Shroud:

For the most part, Idia hated the entire VDC thing from the beginning. He had to present in front of an audience, which was a pain in the rear in itself, but he just felt like most of it was a waste of time. He could be playing games or creating something but instead here he was, completely nerve wrecked with the speech he was about to present

He felt his anxiety starting to grow so he figured he’d take a walk around with his tablet of course, why would he want to move from his perfectly safe spot in his dorm? Besides there was a risk of bumping into Riddle so he wasn’t taking any chances.

Floating around the festival with his tablet, he ended up finding tbe whole thing boring in the end. He might as well just return to his room and figure out another way to make himself calm down.

Suddenly, he picked up the faint sounds of music coming from the auditorium. He knew the actual performance was still an hour away, so why was there someone singing? Was it practice? No, it didn’t sound like a group, not to mention it wasn’t Piece of my world playing at all, it was a completely different song.

Floating over the wall of the auditorium, he used the tablets camera to try and scan who was on the stage. Once Idia saw it was you, he almost dropped the tablet in shock.

Never would he have guessed that you had the guts to sing, but Idia soon felt all of that anxiety wash away as your little performance continued. He actually liked the song a lot despite it being something as loud as rock. Not to mention your voice had a weird way of calming him down.

Idia racked his brain for every possible excuse as to why you didn’t even audition for a vocalist lead. He definitely could see you taking the lead in the group, not to mention you had a way of pulling people in, your singing just amplified that.

Once your singing had ended, he saw the way the rest of the group stood there in complete shock since they weren’t expecting the manager themselves to be performing. Idia never realized it but he felt himself smiling as he watched you smile from receiving all of the compliments. Maybe if Idia had the guts he’d go down there and compliment you as well, but you were hard to approach as is since you were always surrounded by extroverts. For now, he’d stick to watching you from afar, maybe one day he’d grow the courage to tell you he really liked your singing.

Malleus Draconia:

Malleus had never felt this exited for something before. Not to mention it was the first time someone had invited him to something, and since it was by you he felt himself grow more restless.

Initially, Malleus originally wanted you to perform, so when he heard from you that you were simply a manager, he felt himself grow a tad bit disappointed. Still, he could only feel grateful to you since you went out of your way to invite him to the performance. He knew it would be an amazing one, especially since you were there to help the group to get into shape

Malleus wanted to actually see you before the performance started, so he found himself teleporting to the auditorium. When he got there, he noticed it was quiet for the most part, which made him relax. Until, a moment later, he saw you walk onto the stage with a mic in hand. His eyes widened slightly, he wasn’t sure which move you’d pull. Were you going to sing??? There’s no way right??

When you adjusted the mic to your height, you signaled the staff to play your selected song. The lights slightly dimmed and you began singing.

For Malleus, it was if he’d waken up from a dream. For the most part, he wasn’t expecting something as loud as rock, but he ended up really enjoying the enthusiasm you put into the song.

It was then until you had made eye contact with him, and after getting to the part, “if you wanna play it like a game, well come on come on, let’s play~ cause I’d rather waste my life pretending than have to forget you for one whole minute~” You boldly winked at him, which thrilled him.

Malleus could definitely say he really loved the song, it totally changed how he viewed you. He was disappointed at first, since he’d heard that you would perform at all, but this satisfied him completely.

After you finished the last part of the song, the staff cheered and applauded you for the nice performance you gave them. They then went off to finish the rest of their work, leaving in a good mood and humming while they exited the stage.

Malleus teleported in front of you, luckily you were becoming familiar with the glowing lights that appeared before he did, so you knew it was him.

“Child of man, you never cease to surprise me. Though I do not mind, this put me in a terribly good mood. You did amazing.” Malleus approached you and softly fixed your hair. You smiled up at him,

“Thank you, Tsunotaro. I wasn’t expecting you to come so soon but then I saw you in the audience while I was singing. I’m glad you enjoyed it!” He smiled at your reaction, then frowned a bit

“At first, when you told me you were only a manager I was a bit disappointed. I’m not sure why, but I really liked the idea of seeing you performing on stage. I simply had a feeling that you would be good at it, and of course, I was right in the end. Maybe next time when we’re alone together, you could sing for me again. Don’t disappoint me, y/n.” Malleus lifted one of your hands to his lips and kissed it, then teleported away, leaving you to deal with your heated face. You snapped back to reality when you heard Vil call out behind you,

“Y/n, what are you standing around for? We need you backstage, come.” Vil walked off, leaving you to chase after him. Your face reddened once more as you remembered the way he had taken your hand and kissed it. That threw you off guard completely, and you didn’t think you were going to be able to get your head back in the game until this was all said and done with. After a while though, you found yourself looking forward to the moment when you two would be alone together. And maybe you’d sing something different for him then.

I Don't Like how I Feel abt JJK S2

aka making sense of my very confused watch and thusly, my very confusing feelings

what i feel is JJK 2's biggest fault is a lack of a concrete voice, particularly in terms of tonal fluidity and character dynamics + characterization, which is what made JJK 1 so amazing to begin with. this really dampens the stakes, especially when, apart from mahito, the fight mechanics and raw physicality that JJK 1 & 0 so effortlessly captured seem to be absent. like yk you're fcking up when u have a shounen bro asking for less fight scenes.

i just feel as if, other than sotosugu, which geto is carrying on his hunching, scoliosis riddled back, i don't GET the dynamics. none of the characters made me care, they didn't connect with me beyond a superficial level, which is maybe a skill issue but ik its entirely possible when the show became #great-again and made me give 100% of a fawk about geto in TWO episodes. the tonal mastery on display there, the pacing, his sense of isolation, his deteriorating sense of self, its all conveyed so eloquently, like we are IN his head.

it also makes amanai's loss tangible, it gives us consequences and stakes and demonstrates the weight of that raw, human friendship. it nuances geto in a way i felt was absent in the other characters and thusly made them feel flat and insignificant. — having written more now, i think what stands out to me is how filed down the characters feel, like i just realized yuuji doesn’t feel RIGHT anymore, like i’m missing a sort of energy he used to bring to the table which made his softer moments feel more authentic yet pronounced, and i think that’s what’s plagued the new characters as well, a lack of concrete ENERGY.

and jjk doesn't really do that sort of thing, its strength USED to lie in the compelling nature of its dynamics and character relations, but now that that's suffered under the transition of authorial voice, i think they've struck GOLD with the introspective storytelling method.

part of what made JJK 1 & 0 so great is it felt as if its light beats were ALSO in service of either narrative, plot or progression of the dynamics and we got to invest in and learn more abt the respective characters through every tonal beat we were taken through, what they got serious abt, what triggered them, how they relate to others. but with the first 3 or so episodes of JJK 2, which are very little in retrospect, but GLARING in an episode by episode watch approach, especially when contrasted again JJK 0, or JJK 1 (which, while cringe at first cause i watched downloaded eps and i used to have a shameful penchant for dub so obviously the cringe was threatening to disengage me, plus a few odd shots which had me like damn, amateur hour — which btw i STILL feel/felt that way abt s2. despite the animation being so amazing that upon teasers first dropping I was pretty much assured that it would be a sensory delight no matter what, but gorgeous moving pictures does not a good show make it seems. like you are NOT sam levinson my dudes, you don’t convey the sheer SPECTACLE that makes that approach work —, but that feeling was dispelled within an episode and I was just as hyped as i’ve always felt upon JJK rewatches), it has a timeless quality to it, its very sure in its direction and its characters and how they interlink. plus the fights are great and often used to convey smth abt the characters or their relationships.

while s2 has me like… ok so what happened in the first 3 episodes? everything felt like filler, everything felt inconsequential, everything felt shallow.

and that’s in NO part bc of the new (sort of) cast of characters, i gaf abt JJK 0, like yuta wasn’t bbg but i loved watching him form relationships with the other characters (especially inumaki, yuta x inumaki otp you heard it here first. like at first i didn’t GET inumaki but upon a rewatch i started to catch onto his linguistic patterns and how soft of a character he REALLY is, like inumaki is so baby 🥺, and the two connecting over being edgy soft boys had me SEATED.

especially when yuta got over his preconceptions abt inumaki borne of the fact that he doesn’t communicate conventionally, and he had thusly fashioned a personality FOR inumaki that stemmed from him being different. but it didn’t feel so extreme that i felt undercurrents of discrimination, poor boy is just traumatized and views ppl who are cold to him as antagonistic, so i get it, especially bc his reactions were more on the softer comedic side. but he then realizes that dude is just the nicest guy ever and not being able to speak doesn’t mean you’re a scary or odd person), and while his whole thing with rika was kind of saccharine and had fbi ON speed dial, i came to really appreciate HOW he cursed rika and how her love for him was so pure, like it felt universal and unrestrained by any label and that’s smth beautiful to me cause things could’ve gone ban from seven deadly sins REAL fast and they subverted that.

but i also don’t feel that its coincidence that i felt more engaged by preestablished characters and their dynamics (the main trio and their reintroduction into the story). they have a shorthand, a familiarity that gojosquad lacked, and i’ve come to realize as i write that that’s intrinsic to always being the highest in the room (wink wink), but if that’s the case then that needs to be tangibly demonstrated, give small tells that despite wanting or trying to, gojo lacks the capacity for intimate human bonds outside of one guy, he’s a product of jujutsu society, which will always distance him from conventionality and attachments. give it significance and intention within the story bc without it being written in, it makes the show feel tonally disjointed and unrefined.

give us personal moments between sugusoto, shorthands or glances or shifts in tone or whatever that capture the duration and depth of their bond, show us them caring abt each other in a way only two untouchable people can, how their eyes always find each other first, how even when with others gojo is always watching geto, like i need moments™ (it doesn’t have to be showboating and glamorized depictions of interactions ALL the time, the quiet moments matter too). like don’t get me wrong i FAWKED with the aquarium scene but i think its telling how long it took me to recall it bc it was ONE moment, yk. like i want to FEEL how despite the loss or uncertainty of those around them they always have each other. THAT’S what’s missing. meggy and yu to the uji had that with their sukuna fight and megumi pledging to protect those he cares abt, in fact meggy came in swinging bc you had a strong sense of who he was and that he cared from day 1. i need their priorities and drives established, i need to know WHO they are. like yes the: who are you and what do you want scene from JJK 0 was ham-fisted and made retrieving my eyeballs from where they’d lodged into the back of my skull quite difficult, but stuff like that is needed and CAN be done tactfully. like i feel this season is all abt subtlety and undercurrents so that when the sheer shitshow that is obviously going to burst forth comes about we’re #shook but its called balance, and its initially what made JJK so great.

and with 1/3rd of the characters i still feel have a strong presence (mahito, gojo, todo – u will ALWAYS be famous… and mei mei) allegedly, supposedly, apparently being taken out of the narrative which is TOTALLY something i am having a well-adjusted and normal reaction to, i am FINE! shut up shut up shut up HGRLSOPFHUJWVOBEFBUQUUI!!!?!? ARGGHHH! NBHQYIJHVQJH!!!!?!!! BANGS TABLE BITES WALLS SEETHES IN A VERY UNAFFECTED MANNER ROLLS AROUND THRASHING AND SWEATING fine i am, fine yes yes. FINE!

well, its made me very apprehensive abt how JJK could progress. bc while i think the reintroduction into modern day was done well, i also acknowledge the slippery slope of its shortcomings, and how eliminating such MAJOR players and flavors in the JJKverse can leave a void too wide to be filled. if they can’t keep up the character dynamics and characterizations they have now the show, to me, is doomed, plain and simple.

bc on one hand you have the great mechamaru mahito fight, which actually works MORE bc it wasn’t afraid to be a little camp and tropey and FUN, but then you have yuuji fighting that bug and its like ???? or the toji gojo fight where istg, no limbs touched, not one, no kicks, no weight, no fight mechanics, just hella blur and faith in the lord. like i should not have to wait until the end of the fight to see some IMPACT, some goɾe, some injury, some STAKES.

with the absolute feral levels i get at the intro song (their best one and one of the best i’ve seen in anime tbh, in terms of visuals, aesthetics, music, it just- it makes me SO VIOL3NT, I LOVE IT HBWEVFHWJEFWKF) i want to see these obvious pools of potential realized, i don’t want or even like JJK when its good, i like JJK bc at its core its GREAT, and if they play their cards right we could be looking at one of the best animes of, dare i say all time.

like the villains feel foreboding, they feel ALIVE, they carry weight and i want that for the mains too. so far i’m happy with their handling of the main trio, with the episode dedicated to yuuji’s old crush being genuinely emotional, paced proficiently and ACTUALLY funny, like i’m not saying that the first 3 eps weren’t funny in their own way, but it wasn’t GIVING jujutsu kaisen, at its inception it wasn’t giving JJK with the way the season felt more like a thriller at first, but it was done so well that i wasn’t mad at it, then the levity and relationships came in and were just so underwhelming man. it was literally like being hit by a train tbh.

anyway, i’ve belaboured the point, all i have to say before talking abt the fɑscist in the room is that i was PHYSICALLLY and PERSONALLY pained by the diminishment of the fight scenes. ooooo going from todo yuuji, yuta geto, sukuna megumi, even gojo v that black dude (sorry idk his name and also justice for him that sht was a hate crime fr fr) honestly all the fights in the tournament between the jujutsu schools, to what we got in s2, that hurt me and me specifically and it is only grace from some celestial force that has kept me from doing smth drastic and unethical in retaliation.

anyways, what i feel could’ve capitalized on JJK 2’s strengths from the get go is centring get o (wink wink) and creating more tonal contrast or whiplash / a sense of bubbling foreboding which erupts at the climax of the season half’s finale, it would make everything sm more pronounced and eerie and meaningful, just generally imbuing more nuance into their portrayal could’ve made it LEAGUES better but then geto would have lost all mobile functionality of his spine bc he would’ve crashed under the weight of the show long before he crashed under the weight of his own mind. bro CARRIED.

to the point where he’s such a caricature of a fashie character now and i STILL have immense love for him, he’s like lightside eren jeager — if voldy and eren had a baby it would be geto (and part of the reason why geto works where eren doesn’t is bc they make a point to villainize him and verbalize how fashie his rhetoric is, which HURTS bc i am black and hearing him call humans monkeys has me like i can’t keep defending my maga bf like this, why is my taste in men so flagellatory???!! STAND 👏🏿UP 👏🏿! — only those of a certain hue are allowed to laugh @ that joke i am in ur walls) and while i wished they nuanced him more and factored in how he cared abt amanai into his descent, i also appreciate that that intimacy i was talking abt prior popped up. geto became who he thought he was supposed to be to carry out smth so incongruous to his former ideology and identity, he feels like a caricature bc he IS a caricature, but once the mask slips the softness and purity of his core personality is revealed and its ONLY for gojo, like JEQFBJHBFJQEJ

i don’t even ship sugusoto (like that). they’re both just so great that by brute force i intellectually recognize the excellence of their dynamic, like it just doesn’t make SENSE to not give sugusoto their tens bc of how intertwined within each other they are. like sorry, did not give a singular FAWK abt them before (when i had no familiarity with their material/dynamic) and now they have me crying out of sheer respect no one’s doing it like them.

and what makes empathizing with a character like geto so natural, and produces such a well crafted character in general is his NUANCE, i feel like, similar to eren jeager, you can’t find him endearing or sympathetic in any capacity without first giving significance to, not only the nature of his moral decline, but the inherent complexities of his character. liking geto without acknowledging that he touts rɑce science and plans to genocıde ppl he sees as biologically inferior is a YIKES, you can’t ignore that shite without seeming like a member of a third subsect yourself idk, like its not insignificant, and woobifying an active fɑscıst is existential horror if i’ve ever seen it.

its why aot falls flat for many but JJK excels in that department, bc geto is condemned and for good reason, HOWEVER, i think there was a way we could’ve muddled even the lens through which he’s condemned / the immensity of empathy we feel for him, and that’s bringing amanai into his ideological realignment.

amanai was the source of his moral turn and it feels like a missed opportunity to not have her be more core to its after effects, like HER dyıng is what gets geto so why wouldn’t the weight of her legacy and the purity of her character weigh on him more. the star platinum followers were human yes, but so was amanai, and having geto hyperfocus on one part of the equation when the other is arguably just as significant is a HUGE missed opportunity to say the least. like given his new outlook how does geto FEEL abt someone like amanai now, has he condemned her, and if so, why didn’t we see that more explicitly? like i feel its pretty inevitable that he has, since he sights human weakness and the sacrifice of jujutsu sorcerers for humans as his point of contention, which stems from him being unable to exercise justice against the religious group, but ALSO parallels gojo seemingly dyıng for amanai, someone who put them all in harms way through her ineptitude and the [to geto in retrospect, ultimately] false debt they felt towards her. like at first he idolizes THAT aspect of human innocence but as he sees its consequences does it not make sense that his turn would come from explicitly writing off its source?

OR even more powerfully, being plagued by knowing that good humans exist but valuing people like gojo, who he sees as the real unprotected and collateral of society, more than he values amanai. like in canon he’s so tired of fighting for ppl who underappreciate and can manifest such heinous forms of evil but it would’ve been an elevation to add him being tired of fighting for a shred of goodness that ever since he’s only seen its dark side, he comes to realize is gone anyway, so WHY is he still fighting? the mental fracture that brings and his conveyance of guilt and buried pain could be SO good cause deep down geto could ultimately agree with gojo that human life is precious, but that he can’t stop himself from HATING that, resenting that he can’t see himself or anyone else around him as precious too.

like oooooh would’ve made him best character of all time i fear. like caricature geto serves a purpose, but ANGSTY geto, the ppl were NOT ready! but regardless, i am MORE than happy with the geto we got. More than. i cant even fully articulate the depths i feel geto has and what we could’ve gotten out of him, like bro is the gift that KEEPS ON giving!

anyways, that’s it from me i think. overall i think JJK needs to realize that what made s1 so iconic isn’t bombastic shots or glamorous aesthetics, its all these masterfully conveyed moving parts coming together to create smth better than the sum of its parts. it’s the nitty gritty of character dynamics and characterization and meaningful fights and the mundanities of friendship, it’s the quiet moments which make the big moments so loud! it’s the dialectical nature of the show.

i WANT to trust JJK S2 to stick the landing, the gold is THERE, they just need to dig. and if a hyperfixation of mine goes to shite, well we can all pretend it was a fever dream and continue reading metas on the manga or smth, idk 🤷🏿‍♂️ will continue biting my nails till the very end.

I'm sure now that duffer brothers do not care about poc characters or queer characters. Wtf was that ending with Robin huh ??? Her love interest was so boring I literally don't rember her name anymore andl couldn't give enough of a fuck to look it up.The duffer brothers really include so many new WHITE characters as if they're show isn't white enough as it is .They did Kali dirty, they've been doing Lucas dirty and they did Erica dirty.

1. Kali -I have a lot of opions on how women of colour are treated like disposable characters and Kali is another victim of it .Bring Kali back make her Robin's love interest. I think they're about the same age .If not her love interest she can atleast team up with El to defeat Henry/Vecna/ 001 .You hyped up 001 because he was played by pretty white boy despite him killing children( i get it Jamie Campbell Bower is pretty asf but it's weird how you excuse child murder but get mad at woc for murdering bad ppl who hurt her when she was a child. The double standards are crazy) but y'all were mad at kali for getting revenge on the people that wronged her .Then you ppl go on to say Fandom racism doesn't exist.

2. Erica-They gave her such less screen time then they did in season 3 and for what ???? She could have done something why do they always give the white characters shit to do and the ones who solve the 'riddles 'or the problem idk what to call it ??? I am not a black woman so let me know if I'm crossing any boundaries but her character feels a bit stereotypical to how Hollywood writes young black girls and black women. Priah could do so much with the character if the duffer brothers provided her an opportunity to.

3. Lucas - Lucas deserves so much .Caleb Mclaughlin deserves so much better They've been doing him dirty since season 1 .They haven't let his skills shine.HELLO ??P MAXS 'DEATH' SCENE ? SIR OMG ?? HE WAS SO GOOD OMFG.@/dufferbrothers give him more shit to do .I think the Fandom will not die if one of the other white characters has one less thing to do.

4. Robin- give her a proper love interest dude wtf was that she was literally there for 3 scenes. I honestly thought she would join the group to fight vecna in vol 2 but obvi she didn't. The duffers want to show that their diverse without bringing in actual diversity.

5. Will- He can't catch a break can he ???I honestly don't know where they're going with this whole byler thing but I was stupid enough to believe they'd do a 'confession/ mike realizing he's also gay and in love with will scene in vol 2.Byler better be canon but AFTER Mike works out his emo boy issues and has some character development.

Finally. My reread of Crooked Kingdom actually did happen.

I was way more excited for the second book of the duology. So my prediction consisted of me rushing through SOC and then starting CK a bit less as if the apocalypse is going to break out if I don't finish it within a few days.

Jokes on me: I got so excited about different scenes that I still flew through it. So my brain is jumbled and my life is falling apart but I guess I did finish it, no?

For my first read of the second book in the duology, I actually understood the hype a bit more. It granted us the last two background stories of the characters and had a whole lot more banter. Which is one of the strongest elements of the books. However, I feel like CK manages the riddles and hidden plans of Kaz way better. It feels more deliberate than just being based on pure luck. Not everything of course and it probably still is 80% luck but it is covered up more thoroughly.

There were just so many details I simply forgot and was shocked to learn about once more. Even things I hadn't fully understood the last time I read it.

The writing style is a bit more poetic in my point of view. I could be wrong but that's what it felt like and I think it gives the text an emotional smoothness in-between the edges that come with the fighting and the comedy.

Still the pacing is awry sometimes.

The point of view changes get so frustrating in some parts which I didn't feel too much in the first book.

If you shoot someone and the next page is a lengthy description of what the surroundings look like, I won't read that. Or I will read it but my brain will zone out of this universe. For others this may work but not for me.

What I need to add to this though is that when there is a brawl at the end of the one character it is almost certain the next one will experience something that reaches the same level of stress which makes the scenes afterward easier to flip through.

I did not like the Pekka Rollins ending in the church.

Kaz hasn't struck him or really confronted him through the whole length of two books. Now in all of this chaos, attention shifting every few seconds and nerves on edge for other reasons he decides to finally do what we waited for.

I understand that there probably wasn't enough space or time to write an extra plot point for this so I will just watch the show whenever I'm craving Kaz's vengeance.

One of my favourite chapters in the whole series got to be chapter 14 of CK.

It is also the only chapter that plays outside of Ketterdam and it almost feels like a bittersweet nightmare. Or a dream? It's so hard to decide how to feel, being torn from "Oh his mother lives!" To "Holy fuck his mother lives..." To "I can't do this- she painted him..." While everything plays in this unfamiliar setting dipped in the afternoon sun. Wylan is not just retelling what happened but we are actually there while it happens. It helps to stir my pot of emotions.

The time has come. Whilst we're at iconic scenes I have the physical urge to throw in the "Who the hell is Jordie" - Jesper Fahey.

My friends are probably already wailing over the fact that I'm once again explaining my issues when it comes to Kaz Brekker. I'm sorry, my dears. I love you all very much.

Book one he redeemed himself and even in book two at the end I felt lighter, the anger issues not going complete berserk when thinking about him.

A huge part why I didn't like him is caused by his anger towards Jesper. I established that in my first review as well but in CK this burning rage of and therefore for him just flames higher.

I understand why and how and what and when and blablabla but I still don't think it's acceptable. And I think the fandom handles it wrongly. Maybe this is because there are a lot of young readers in the community. (Even though the SOC duology has very morally grey characters and it shouldn't be young adult-- that's a discussion for another day.)

I know I'm chronically online for this but children listen: Kaz can't just stomp his bestie in the ground because he has PTSD. Why do you think Inej left before the same fate could happen to her? It's so painfully obvious it makes me convulse. Jesper already has doubts about himself and his right to be loved, have friends, be trusted. And that just worsens in the presence of Kaz and his jabs here and there. You also have to keep in mind that Kaz actively fed into Jespers addiction which were the cause of him accidentally betraying the crows. Additionally: who gave Kaz the right to speak for Inej? She is the one who got hurt and she's the one who will settle it. Which she did. (Brilliant scene by the way.)

The way Kaz reacts just strengthened my belief from the first book: he never trusted Jesper and he just lets out his pain at someone who was foolish enough to stay with him.

Now I know I've been antagonizing him a lot but it's my opinion on the fandoms matter not on the overall of his character because I feel like in the books it's perfectly clear that this is a fight where he's in the wrong.

Shockingly, my very one-sided view on Kaz changed. Otherwise I would've not enjoyed the book as much as I did. I hold the moments when Nina and Wylan say that he accepted them very close. Or him giving Wylan the heritage he deserves even if it was just to taunt Van Eck into madness I have the (most likely false) inkling it's not only that. Probably just another scheme to use Wylan later on but we don't think about that. When he tells Inej that Jesper is missed I felt like the Pekka Rollins incident was finally wearing off just as the memories.

And of course there's Inej whom he gifts her her ship and brought her back to her parents. We all love to see her happy and even if he earned the simp-stamp during this, it is still a scene that makes me tear up.

Talking about more scenes I like: the fights between Inej and Dunyasha are awesome. I find Dunyasha super interesting as well as the way Inej views her.

Her character design is fun and her belief system so twisted and messed up. I don't know it just was a "fresh wind" of insanity outside of the common crowd we already knew.

And Inej grew through her. Inej's character growth has always been kind of shoved in your face with very obvious metaphors but I learned to absolutely love and appreciate it this way. It leaves you with very impressive scenes that are bound to her with connections and further consequences.

Speaking of character growth: Matthias. We finally got his final big bear form. It's funny how he transformed from being this irrational crazy murder husband of Nina to kind of the innocent-not-so-innocent-simping-lovely-idiotic-diplomat of the group.

We all know how his story takes it's end though. And once again I find myself wondering if the pace is just too fast or the pov change destroys this particular moment. But I couldn't really engage in it. I found it sad but not in a way that really stuck and made me mourn his character which I find a bit unfair. Because he deserves to be mourned. No pun intended.

I'm surprised that I don't think it was unnecessary or something that was just done to hurt the reader. Or Nina for that matter. Maybe it is but that's not how it seems to me.

I think he deserves better, obviously. I think he could've survived and the book would've been just as good, maybe even better.

But he dies and I feel like it just shows how luck does run out sometimes. And all it took was a younger version of Matthias plagued by hatred and a clouded mind shakingly holding onto a pistol. Matthias did change, wanted to help and free his family from the ice but cruelly he wasn't given the chance.

Scenes I'm unsure about would also be the pure comedy gold of Jesper mistaking Kuwei for Wylan.

When I first read that I was so on edge. Why wasn't "Wylan" saying anything? Why's he randomely sitting there not playing? Why on god's green earth is he grinning? (Also side note: how the hell could Jesper say their first kiss would be a great thing as a distraction?)

Anyways oblivious Jesper kisses Kuwei and in turn this dude is just glowing with pride.

It is memeworthy and I'm happy it's not a messed up love triangle or any of those sorts.

Still the voices bro, the freaking voices! "How could this be used for a meme moment?"

I can live with it though. It's okay. The show gave us what we didn't have and I'm ready for further angst if the spin off does come out.

Conclusively I'd like to say that the books grew on me through the fandom, the show and maturing as a person. It's quite the funny journey. I'm going to reread my first two reviews now and see what bs my younger self created. Chances are high that I just repeated myself but that's okay. I'll just ride with that. Have a good day.

Reptil’s No Longer Dino-Sore

Hey there, dated CGI. I didn't realise how quickly this batch of Avengers Arena was coming to an end, but yeah. This week, next week, and then we'll move on again. Time flies when you're not having fun, eh~?

Here's the cover:

See, now, if this was instead the cover of a paperback romance novel, that shit would sell like hotcakes. As it is, it's merely a cover of this series, but at least it's one of the better ones! Though if Hazmat has that much skin exposed, Reptil is probably sterile by now, if not outright riddled with radiation sickness. That's a bad way for a romance story to end. Or begin, for that matter! Or maybe dinosaurs are resistant to radiation. Who knows? I don't know if paleontologists can tell that kind of thing~

So we open by catching back up with Reptil, in case that wasn't obvious from the cover. He's starting with how he has all these fantastic dinosaur powers, including being able to swim and fly. Sorry, dude, but if that's so, then you just have prehistoric reptile powers. Dinosaurs were land only. If they lived in water or flew, they weren't dinosaurs. Except Archeopteryx. But I digress. He is, in fact, using some aquatic reptile powers at the moment, and he looks more like a big frog than any dinosaurs I could name.

So what's Reptil doing in the water? Hunting sharks and moping. The moping is mostly that dinosaur powers haven't solved all his real problems: finding his parents, getting the girl, not ending up in this crappy series. Know what turning into a dinosaur can do, though? Hunt sharks. Frankly, having food is a real problem if you ask me, so he's doing a great job. When he returns to shore, Hazmat makes him stay back long enough for her to get dressed, and then getting really hyped when she realises they're having shark steaks.

There's a few things going on with their "group". Their group of two. One is that Hazmat keeps thinking Reptil is peeping and perving on her. Like, she gets it, hormones are hormones, she's pretty understanding. She's also pretty radioactive, and that can't be good. The other issue, which they bring up over lunch, is that Hazmat really doesn't seem interested in moving on now that Reptil's burns are healed. He thinks they should find the rest of the teens, but she's pretty content to live on this beach and eat shark steaks and coconuts. Honestly, she's not wrong~

Anyways, who knows where the others are? It's not like they're going to fall out of the sky on top of them. This is when the rest of the teens fall out of the sky on top of them, the residuals of Nico's teleport spell from last issue. They explain the situation as best they can, and that's when X-23 wakes up. Fortunately, the trigger scent has worn off by now, so she doesn't immediately maul Reptil and Hazmat. Instead, Hazmat gives her a hug. Aw. Once again, I like seeing these characters actually working together and besing friends.

Hazmat offers the rest of them shark steaks, and while Nara and Anachronism (against his will) take her up on it, the others (X-23, Cammi, and Cullen Bloodstone) confront Reptil on what's going on. So, hey, you remember that issue where Reptil got burned? Turns out that was two weeks ago. I knew there were a lot of problems with this series, but one I didn't expect was its shit timescale and how bad it was at indicating how much time had passed. Like, you go back and read those issues I've reviewed since then. Does that sound like two weeks have passed? Two days, maybe.

Anyways, two weeks hanging out on the beach waiting for Reptil to heal has kinda driven the will out of Hazmat, and she's kinda content to just rot on this beach instead of fighting for her survival. Yeah, I dunno! I'm inclined to side with Hazmat on this one. If she sat here for two weeks without Arcade or Apex fucking with her, sounds pretty good to me. Nonetheless, the rest of the group decide she's a coward, and they opt to go out and see if Nico is okay. In spite of everything, they feel Nico's earned that. And, honestly, I respect that too. Leave no friend behind.

Reptil goes to Hazmat, confronting her about her attitude. She starts to undress to keep him away, but maybe dinosaurs are radiation-resistant, because he just pins her down and starts yelling how he can't stand to see her give up. After all, Mettle didn't die to see her rot away on a beach doing nothing. Yeah, she responds, in tears now, but he still died. Arcade snapped his fingers, Mettle exploded, and she couldn't do a thing about it. Being Hazmat hasn't helped at all.

And you'd expect this to be where it ends, but despite her breakdown, there's a cut to 20 minutes later, and as Reptil and the rest are prepping to leave, Hazmat turns up to go with them, having composed herself. She puts it a little pessimistically (”Let’s go die trying.”), but the spirit’s there. And Reptil ends on possibly the most positive note in the whole comic: Maybe friends are a liability in Murderworld, he thinks. But who's ever survived without having one~?

Yeah, gotta say, this is one of the better issues. You know it’s true when one of my only complaints is how bad the passage of time is displayed. Thank god for Reptil, huh? He’s breathed some optimism back into this wreck of a book. Only seven issues left, buddy! Let’s hope you can maintain it~!

SFW ABCs of Strife

Author's notes: I'm really sorry for the lack of writing recently; I got in a car accident a few weeks ago (everyone's fine) and I started school again a week after that so I've had my plate full 😅. But regularly scheduled posts should hopefully continue! A new piece every 2 or 3 weeks depending on my inspiration! :) also, thank you anon - your words mean the world 🤍

Warnings: angst, fluff and bad grammar cause I haven't proofread this

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

Strife is clingy and overbearing, but in the best way. He will not leave you alone. He will constantly be around you, and gets upset when you aren't around. You're like his personal teddy bear, you knew this coming into the relationship so just accept him :)

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

Choas. 3am McDonald's kidnappings, running around a dark forest chanting tiktok audios and hyping you up every chance he gets. He will literally hype you up so much and he means every word. You die laughing every time you're with him and he genuinely cares about you a lot.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Again, we go back to the teddy bear concept. The moment you touch the bed, he will latch onto you and won't want to let go. He loves to be the big spoon, but his weakness is occasionally being the protected, little spoon. It makes him feel so loved. He's a very light sleeper due to him sleeping around battlefields so much, so if you move he'll wake up and adjust according.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Strife is messy. He doesn't do it intentionally, he just gets so distracted and eventually gets discouraged :( he will slowly get used to it if you help him, but it takes a while. Strife is also scared to settle down, it's again not because of you but because of him. His life has been hard and long - he doesn't want to add you or any other being to that suffering no matter what. Just give him time.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

Like Death: he'd ignore you, insult you, fight with you and make you hate him. So that you think you're better off without him, which he believes. He loved you, and always will.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

When you too first got together, you would've expected him to continue his shameless flirting and pick-up lines - but he became distant; he was fighting an inner battle on whether or not he wanted this and wanted to give you this danger. You'll need to talk to him, and show you some of those feelings he's hidden behind that ✨ comedic relief ✨

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

He's usually very rough and chaotic, but knows when it's time to be quiet and listen to what you have to say or give you a gentle hug. He'll wrap you in your favourite fuzzy blankets, make you his famous hot chocolate and put on your comfort shows. When you're ready to talk, he'll listen.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Less bone-crushing than War, but more passionate than Death. Is constantly hugging and cuddling you, no matter where you are. WILL NOT CARE IF YOU GUYS ARE IN PUBLIC IN FRONT OF A CROWD HE WILL HUG YOU TO DEATH. (no pun intended)

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

This man is riddled with commitment issues - he knew what love meant to humans, and other beings even though they had different words for it. But none of this made it any easier, the opposite in fact. You had to say it first, to reassure him - to make him comfortable that these feelings were returned. He felt vulnerable and scared otherwise, but after the first time he'll say it with bold-faced pride...most the time.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

Very jealous, very quickly. He isn't controlling, but he is very protective. He's had a lot of bad people threaten everything he's ever loved in his life, and one day someone might do good on that threat. He's warned you about this, and he'll protect you from anyone he thinks might hurt you - but a lot of the times he feels bad because he doesn't want to control you or make you feel like he's your only option.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

Sloppy, goofy, spontaneous and full of puppy-love. He's so enamored by you and he's never been good with outward emotions, so he channels his love for you into kissing and he hopes that does the trick. This also works with the fact that he isn't great with words :)

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

He loves kids! He thinks they're very funny, and loves that they have absolutely no filter. He gets a little sad afterwards, cause they remind him of when he and his siblings were younger - those memories cause him pain, he doesn't want to remember the good of the Nephilim; so he shuts it all out.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

He's a light sleeper, but he also likes to sleep in. Combine this with the fact that he won't let you move while cuddling you, you're stuck in bed for a couple hours :') he is awake most the times you tell him you need to leave, he just pretends he's asleep and he knows you know he's awake.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

Watching your guys' favourite show, playing video games or hanging around with his siblings. He likes to tire you out before bed so that you have a better sleep... and so that you don't move as much while he's snuggling you. You haven't caught onto this yet, and he doesn't know if you ever will considering he knows how much you love his night-snuggles.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

Like the other four, Strife falls in line with being terrible at showing his emotions. He covers it all with humor and jokes. He doesn't want to show you his problems or fears because of multiple reasons. He doesn't want to scare you off, make you feel like it's your issue to solve, make you worry and he doesn't want to ever make you think twice about his strength. He's a warrior. He's strong. He can.. Do this?

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

It depends, in battle he's pretty calm and easy-going. When it comes to you - such as teaching you something, or showing you something - he'll also have a lot of patience. Although, sometimes he loses control. He'll get a little bit too into bashing that demon's face in with the hilt of Mercy, he'll get a bit competitive at video games but he will never shout or lose his temper with you outwardly. He might get annoyed, but he'll shelf that feeling like he does with so many other things.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

Rather forgetful, due to his nature and the fact that he's taken a few konks to the head lmao. He might forget tiny things about you, but Strife will remember the important stuff - like special dates, your emotional reaction to some things and a lot about the stuff you've taught him about humanity and life, a life worth living.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

You sat with each other on a cliff; over-looking the demon and angel infested city that had been somewhat retake by nature. He asked you what some signs and buildings were for, in order to distract you from some.. Scenes below. It worked though, you laughed together as you explained funky commercials and billboards to him while remembering what it was like before. It was the first time he heard you laugh, really laugh. His heart jumped into his throat.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

I've spoken about how he protects you, but relationships are a two way street after all! While you can't really protect Strife in battle, if you ever defend him in a verbal argument, protect him in a video game or even defend him from Death's belittling - he will melt. He's always been the protector, so being the protected feels so.. New and special to him <3

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

He tries his best. He really does. But occasionally, he'll show up with an apologetic smile and a bouquet of squashed flowers to a date. He didn't mean to accidentally sit on them while riding over, promise. He makes up for it in kisses, snuggles and massages though :D

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

He doesn't put the lid back on things, will put bread crumbs in the margarine, will leave the Playstation on all night, leaves the soap in a wet tray so it gets all soggy and he isn't the best at remembering to pick things up behind him.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

Unlike Death (dumpster saga continues) he knew what a bath was before meeting you. He smells of gun smoke, whiskey and ash. Even if he's never had a drop of human alcohol, it always clings to him and his scarf.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

You ground him, make him feel real, make him feel like he doesn't always have to shove his past into a locked box - he thinks you're gorgeous, and admires your soul. It sometimes scares him how much he wouldn't feel alive without you.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

Strife will make tiktoks with you. 1000%. Whether it's an original idea, a stupid audio or a dance you wanted to try - he's your man. If it means making you laugh, he'll do it.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

Someone that is too serious, posh or snobbish. If you can't step down from your high horse and have some goofy fun with him, he won't enjoy your company. This is why he dislikes so many people he's met along his travels. They're all to stuck up for his liking.

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)

Strife occasionally deals with nightmares, as expected, and this causes him to occasionally kick and fling his arms around in his sleep. If he ever hits you he'll feel it and wake up, followed by a lot of apology-cuddles 🥺. He also talks in his sleep, the first time he confessed his feelings to you he was actually asleep next to you in front of a fire. You didn't say anything the next day, you decided to let him believe you were the first one to confess; since he'd be massively uncomfortable otherwise.

Denzel Blackwyrm, the Jabberwocky! I had a lot of fun making him and it’s so much easier to make male characters then trying to make girls hhh I tried make him look more dragony but I couldn’t figure out how to make the horns work so ignore them

Denzel is a second year in Heartslabyul and is viewed a delinquent. In chapter 1 he’s a character who appears when people, usually Ace, is talking about how bad Riddle is as a dorm head to hype up the negative opinions of him and seems to have a keen interest in befriending people who dislike Riddle while acting openly hostile to those who are his friends.

Denzel's mother works as a dietitian and when he was younger was doing work for Riddle's mother and helping her plan her meticulous meals. For this reason, Denzel was one of the few friends Riddle was allowed to have

For Denzel, people were afraid of him because of his sharp teeth and short fuse so he struggled with making friends. When Riddle didn't seem put off by him and told him he wasn't the one at fault, Denzel started to think of Riddle as his best friend

But because Denzel's mother wasn't as strict with him as Riddle's mother would expect, he was sneaking in to see his friend and distracting him from his studying or sneaking him treats and was then banned from going over to see Riddle with his mother again

This wasn't explained to Denzel and since his mother was still working with Riddle's mother, it seemed like he had just been cut out of his friend's life by him with no explanation. It Denzel where it hurt and he felt like every interaction with Riddle was a lie and that every time he was kind to him, it was shallow platitudes because he was scared

Because of his scary appearance and rough demeanor, most kids his age avoided him and it was made worse by the new chip on his shoulder. Having grown tired of constant rejections from his classmates, in middle school he began to hang around with the older students and high schoolers and began to act out as a delinquent.

This continued all the way up until he was brought into Night Raven College, where his mother hoped he would be able to make friends with better people and put his energy into more productive things.

However, being at NRC put Riddle back into his path and all his directionless anger was given a focus again. His loyalty made him stubborn and made it easy for him to hold grudges and Riddle having a whole new friend group compounded his jealousy and feelings of abandonment.

Their relationship at the beginning of the story is tense, their first year spent with one-sided antagonism turning into mutual dislike as Riddle didn't know why Denzel was acting the way he was and going out of his way to cause more and more problems for Riddle.

Under the surface, Denzel is pulled into two different directions. Even after years of anger, he feels a sense of loyalty to Riddle as the first person who gave him a chance and doesn't like when other people are too harsh with him. The other side of him feels that this is just Riddle reaping what he sowed and he's finally getting to see the payback that the hypocrite deserved. This causes interactions with him to be wildly unpredictable as one moment he might be egging someone on to hold a grudge against the dorm head to very sternly telling students off for not behaving.

After Riddle overblots however, Denzel is faced with just how much his old friend has been dealing with and finally shelves his issues to listen to Riddle's side of the story. His whole life he had been under the assumption that Riddle chose to not see him again but when it becomes clear just how strict Riddle's mother was and how of his control his life was, Denzel apologizes sincerely for his actions and softens up to Riddle and his friend

He still skips class and when he feels like it and causes petty mischief but it's nowhere close to how malicious he was in the past. His interactions with Riddle become less like fights and more like banter, with some warm-hearted exasperation on Riddle's side

Denzel is no less angry than he was in the past, it just has a new target, Riddle's mom. He hates that he spent years angry at someone who did nothing wrong and feels vaguely used for the amount of pressure he put on someone who didn't deserve it

Is very reliable when it counts and will help wrangle the other students when he's asked. Doesn't interfere with ADeuce or the prefect when they get up to shenanigans though, he finds them way too entertaining to ever try and stop them

Riddle and Azul with an S/O who hates physical contact

Okay reposing this a month later and hoping that Tumblr’s stopped throwing a fit now 👍

Riddle

Riddle spends a lot of time angry and prone to blowing up at the slightest touch so he can totally relate to having issues with physical contact

Notices when you were chatting to Cater when you should have been heading to class

So he grabs your shoulders and pushes you in the right direction, chiding you the whole way down the hall

Backs of really quickly though when he notices you trying and failing to wiggle your shoulders out of his grip

Surprisingly, when you turn and greet him with your crinkled up face, he understands why and gets really upset

His role as dorm leader to scare everyone into submission, not make them uncomfortable

As I said before, he hates physical contact too and knows you need your personal space

People give him a wide birth when he’s angry so if he acts pissed of when walking around with you...

Okay so the plan isn’t ideal but watching him try to imitate himself when he’s throwing a hissy fit really is the pick-me-up you need

Azul

He watched you dodge Floyd like it was a life or death situation but didn’t think much of it, after all any person who values their ribcage’s structural integrity would dodge him as well

Probably only realised once you’d known each other for a while (if you hadn’t already given him a heads up) when he organised lunch for the both of you at Mostro Lounge

Azul wanted to keep it a surprise so he opted to place a hand on the small of your back and guide you there

Octo-boi thought he was familiar with humans by now so he’s somewhat confused as to when they evolved to contort away from stuff like that.

However, I imagine he’d be relieved when you tell him what’s up

Azul also finds the concept of being touchy-feely with others kind of over-hyped anyway

Hating being touched by people is a shared sentiment between the both of you so he goes out of his way to make sure nobody makes you uncomfortable again

Gets really good at whacking people’s hands with his cane

HSMTMTS 2x05 Review

The Quinceañero was a truly historic ep featuring the first time two boys have ever kissed on a Disney show. Let’s dig in!

We got the second same-sex kiss in Disney history tonight, Big Shot had the first last Friday, and the first kiss between two boys in Disney history. It’s a huge step forward. That’s not to say that Disney is going to start approving more same-sex kisses or lgbtq relationships or characters but the door is now open and at least some other shows and movies will be able to eventually follow in HSMTMTS steps.

Really nice cover of The Climb, Joe has such a great voice. It was cute that young Seb had watched young Carlos’ dance vid and felt inspired. Frankie and Joe being an irl couple certainly helps give Seblos a good rapport but it also helps that creator and showrunner Tim Federle is an openly gay man himself. I think if a straight man was showrunner we probably wouldn’t get such dedication to Seblos as a couple.

It was a really funny ep too: Carlos saying his love language is riddles, Ricky asking Nini who they talk to when doing their confessionals, Carlos saying Miss Jenn was a master of smoke and mirrors, Benjamin Mazzara and Mike Bowen interacting. My personal favourite gags were when Big Red said he always wanted a nickname and Kourtney immediately did an office stare and when Nini said Picasso was a terrible person.

Gina still going through it. Kourtney is right that it doesn’t really make sense that Gina is now going to all this trouble for Carlos but to be honest the writing and pacing has been disjointed so far this season so a lot of things aren’t flowing as well as they need to. Is what Gina regrets convincing Ricky to go back on stage as that helped get Rini back together? That’s petty but fair and also true to teenage emotions (though she shouldn’t beat herself up too much, Rini were clearly on the path to getting back together by that point anyway).

Jesus Christ, Ricky needs to read the room. Last ep he correctly realized that Gina wouldn’t want to hear about his Nini issues and tried to stop Big Red from mentioning them but now he’s just doing it himself? Obviously they’re trying to drill in the fact that for now Rina is one sided but it’s a little much. Also really doesn’t make sense that Ricky wouldn’t go to Kourtney or Big Red for this kind of advice.

Sofia Wylie was killing it this ep, both her and Joe are showstoppers. A Dancer’s Heart was great and she did a good job of acting on the verge of tears almost the entire ep

At least EJ actually thought to ask Gina how she’s feeling though and she clearly appreciated it after she got over her shock. It does seem that reports of Portwell’s demise were greatly exaggerated, with the music and the longing stares they’re setting up for at least EJ to have a crush on Gina. Hell even Mazzara picked up on it at the end. I had noted last week that it seemed like Gina’s story line in S2 was being thrown out of balance by the writers dropping a planned Portwell plot and sure enough this week we actually begin to see Gina’s story arc not being entirely her pining over Ricky.

EJ also benefits by being given something to do instead of just standing around in the back. I’m glad he took Mazzara up on the AV club offer and they have a nice mentor-mentee relationship going on. It’s also a nice little parallel with 1x05 when Gina told off EJ and had a moment with Ricky and now in 2x05 Gina tells off Ricky and has a moment with EJ.

Matt seemingly dismissed Portwell as a friendship rather than even hinting at something between them. I guess he could have been told to keep it under wraps as much as possible but odd that they wouldn’t hype it a bit; it’s not like this came completely out of left field, people were wondering if Portwell might happen because of the moment they had in 1x10 and the facetime call they had before S2. Sofia has already said that Gina will have love interests this season and EJ being one, even if it’s brief, would make whole lot of sense since there’s really no one else for except Jack who only shows up much later and doesn’t seem to be in more than an ep or two.

Rini was sweet tonight. Yes Ricky is being clingy which stems in large part from his mom’s abandonment and in fairness Ricky and Nini have probably been used to spending much of their time with each other since they were kids. Loved that ‘I think you kinda you know’’ call back tonight. Looks like Nini will be cast as the Rose which should be interesting.

Miss Jenn is pulling Mike Bowen, Ben Mazzara, and Zach Roy. Good for her! Jike shippers certainly feasted tonight as Mike crashed a teen bday party just to see Miss Jenn and we got confirmation that everyone’s fave Disney Dilf was born in the 70s and must be no older than 51.

Well gotta love Lily’s commitment to bringing down East High and drinking scalding hot black coffee. She really seems like she just stepped off the set of Glee

Looking Ahead:

EJ stopping Gina from leaving would certainly further their relationship and would parallel him being the one to bring her back in S1. I still don’t get why they didn’t just use the Valentine’s chocolates as a plot device to further this plot; just have EJ secretly send them as he was also lonely and you can still have Gina think they were from Ricky.

From what I’ve seen online this Portwell hint has been controversial. It’s true that there’s an age gap between the characters of 2ish years and a much bigger one between the actors but I don’t think that will stop Tim as he already had EJ date Nini. I’ve also seen comments that it would be a bad idea since EJ is leaving at the end of S2 once he graduates but he’s not actually leaving, they’ll keep him around in some fashion until the current juniors graduate.

So far it seems like Rini is the Rucas of hsmtmts, Rina is the Lucaya, and Portwell is the Joshaya.

Kowie starts progressing a bit next ep and we may possible see Antoine next week or the week after according to Larry.

Presumably Ricky’s clinginess starts causing trouble between him and Nini.

Still so funny that North High just up and decided to do Beauty and the Beast just to bring down East High.

TLOU2: Abby

MAJOR SPOILERS

So, I’ve been doing a lot of shitting on the game and I stand by it, but I want to get into how I feel about Abby. I don’t actually hate her, but I despise how the game handled her.

Lemme start by saying, when her character intro was dropped I was hyped as hell. Who is this buff mystery woman? I know a lot of fans were upset to not have Ellie/Joel content but I was intrigued by this trailer. Obviously this woman must be important. I thought she was going to be Anna, and imagined a thousand scenarios where we got flashbacks of Anna, Anna was possibly alive and that created conflict with Joel and Ellie and got into “what really makes a family” or something. Super pumped.

I also was more excited immediately recognizing Laura Bailey’s voice. I am a massive fan. Importantly, I also adored her as Nadine Ross in Uncharted. Naughty Dog gave us a buff, kind of scary woman antagonist who kicks your ass tremendously and the whole time I fuckin loved her. She scared me but I thought she was so cool, and was so excited for her to be in Lost Legacy. Same game company, same actress, but they fucked up big time in The Last Of Us Part 2.

I think perhaps the biggest roadblock to getting people to like her is the story order, as I and many many others have talked about, but the problems also extend beyond that. Giving us time to get to know Abby before she kills Joel would have been the most important first step but the way the game tries to FORCE you to like her is a massively glaring issue. Especially with how the game ends, her story is riddled with hypocrisy.

Every things the game punishes Ellie for, Abby is guilty of. ND uses this to attempt to convince the player that Abby is like Ellie, but she does not suffer the same fate, and the parallels are not subtle enough to be clever, just ham-fisted. Abby would have offered herself up for a cure? Ellie also probably would, but ELLIE didn’t get to make that choice. (Side note: Abby’s dad Jerry is incredibly unlikeable for me. They push a scene of him going out of his way to save a Zebra to humanize him, then he’s on board with sacrificing a child who cannot make this choice herself, pressures Marlene into agreeing, and then has no idea why Marlene would want to inform Joel? Fuck this guy so hard.)

Two flashback scenes do a shit job of being a parallel in the lighter-moment relationships between the dad/daughter pairs. In a scene with Joel and Ellie, Joel incorrectly guesses Ellie is into Jesse. It’s funny because we the audience know that she is into Dina, and I wrote it off as oh, silly clueless dad Joel. But in the Zebra sequence, Jerry correctly guesses that Abby is into Owen. It almost felt like the game was trying to suggest that Jerry and Abby knew one another better than Ellie and Joel do. My found family vs bio family issues with that idea aside, if it’s true, it’s not like we got to see any development between Jerry and Abby to give a single fuck about these people over Ellie and Joel, ESPECIALLY after Joel’s brutal death.

Now, for Jerry’s death, the performance was good, and I tried my hardest to be sympathetic. A young girl lost her father and possibly friends in that hospital fight. That’s awful. If I could pretend like I hadn’t seen Joel die, (or if that was how the story order played) I would feel bad for her. What happened to her is horrible and tragic.

The next issue is the death of Abby’s friends. Two main issues for sympathy: story order, the context of their deaths. Learning about Nora or Mel or Owen after they’ve died already makes it a challenge to feel something for them, and we spend so little time with them that I genuinely forgot their names pretty quickly. But worse is how their deaths play out. All of them fight Ellie. Ellie did not go out of her way to kill them, she wanted Abby, not them. The woman with the headphones (see how little I remember names?) understandably tried to fight to get free. Don’t blame her, don’t really mourn her either.

Mel and Owen are rightfully not trusting Ellie, and try to fight to get free because they think they will die either way. Can’t really blame them for fighting to get away, but I also can’t blame Ellie for having to kill them either. We the audience already know that Mel is pregnant, but Ellie doesn’t, and by putting Mel in a jacket that covers her belly, the game makes sure Ellie doesn’t know until she’s already dead. Again, Ellie isn’t given a choice, this time where she could have tried harder to spare Mel for the baby. As a result, she feels like a monster.

The one friend death that hit more like I think it intended was Nora, but probably not for the reasons ND intended. Nora insults Joel to Ellie and I don’t blame Ellie for reacting with anger. Super fucked up, puts Nora in a greater chance to get killed, just to hurt Ellie. I wanted to kill Nora. That being said, catching up to Nora as she’s choking on spores was not how I expected it to go. I commend Nora for defending her friend (Abby) by not revealing her location. But I also don’t blame Ellie for trying to force Nora to talk. Ellie swinging with tears in her eyes, practically pleading with Nora to tell her without needing to cause pain, is more humanizing than Abby, who was seemingly unresponsive to Ellie’s sobs while killing Joel. Ellie feels like a monster here, Abby does not. More than the idea of torture what doesn’t sit right with me about Nora is not Ellie’s decision, but that ND cast a lot of minorities into roles that face the most gruesome violence and deaths, often and usually for the advancement of a white person’s story.

On the flip side, we have Ellie’s friends. We have Jesse, a funny and charming character that provides some light moments and good banter with Ellie. We know him, we like him, we have grown attached to him (I know his fucking name) and then he is killed pretty dismissively, again as a minority prop to someone’s story, (Don’t even get me started on Dina). Jesse is running into a room, gets shot suddenly, we see a kinda gorey shot of his bloody face wound. It’s shocking, and there is no room to mourn because we immediately go back to playing as Abby and I’m supposed to feel bad for her after she killed her SECOND major character. No way.

In this lengthy flashback as Abby, many of her friends are unlikeable, especially Manny. When their friend Danny is shown in the body bag I was searching my memory for if he was one that I killed cause I couldn’t remember. I already know these people die, and often die after hurting or insulting Ellie and Joel, so I’m not quick to support them. Some of these characters shit-talk Joel and say they wish worse had happened to him. I don’t know any of these people long enough to feel things from their perspective.

A part that really sticks out for the hypocrisy is before you meet Isaac, when you’re in the apartments where several Scars are held prisoner. We know that the WLF and Scars are at war, but that I don’t know why, mixed with the fact that I don’t give enough of a shit about people on either side, makes it hard to care. I see them similarly to Hunters vs FEDRA. Don’t really like either of you, so knock yourselves out. The image of Scars tied up in cages and in obvious torture rooms was already not a great way to win me over OR give me a good side of Abby, but when Abby delivers the line suggesting she’d want to torture these people, you continue to lose me. Ellie is riddled with guilt, Abby does not seem to be, and talks sadistically about the Scars. Even if you want to suggest this is a parallel to Joel, the way he speaks of his atrocities is ALSO riddled with guilt and self-disgust. Perhaps Ellie’s most sadistic points are in gameplay when taking people out and she insults them, but these scenes ALWAYS have these people attack Ellie first and defend herself. I’d call them fuckers too.

They do all this, and try to SHOVE in moments obviously there to wink wink nudge me to like Abby, and they don’t work. I’ll be honest, in game 1, i didn’t immediately like Ellie. I could see where the story was going and wasn’t going to like her just because they thought I should. The pacing allowed me to come to like her on my terms. It was just the two of us all game so I had plenty of time to like her. By Bill’s town I came to really like her, and by the end of the game, she became one of my favorite characters of any piece of media.

The game gave me no time to like Abby, and moments I did kind of like her, they slapped me in the face with an obvious device meant to make me like her, and it isolated me further. The whole game made me go “yeah, yeah I get it.” You know when Manny tries to get Abby and Mel to be on good terms and he’s just way too obvious about it? I feel like Manny is Neil (and yeah the posts about their similarity is not lost on me). ND doesn’t let me grow to like these characters without this ever-present 4th-wall loom of “Do you like Abby yet? See, she’s like Ellie.”

I was very excited for this character, I was excited for Laura, I was excited for a character with “unconventional” proportions (I’m also a slut for ladies with big muscles, so there’s that), and I’m just left disappointed. I feel bad for Laura, I feel bad for what Abby could have been. Done right, she would have been a compelling character, but ND fucked her over almost as much as Ellie and Joel.

Zigi PR Relationship Analysis

Firstly, I don’t think many people are aware of just how often fake relationships occur in the entertainment industry. They happen all of the time. And it isn’t a new thing, either. It dates all the way back to the early 20th century and what was known as Lavender Marriages, where men would marry women to hide the fact that they were gay. Although the practice has evolved since then, as it’s not necessarily about bearding anymore as it is about attracting attention, whether that be for a movie/tv show/musician/model and create hype around their relationship.

Okay, *cracks knuckles*, onto Zayn and Gigi. Zayn had a lot of people against him for two reasons; abruptly leaving the band and the mess of the end of an engagement to one Perrie Edwards (I haven’t heard that name in a while, LOL). He wanted to release solo music, but because so many people were angry at him he needed a way to distract them, and what better way to do that than a new relationship with an up and coming model who connections to the Karshian/Jenner clan?

A Hollywood publicist who admitted to producing these kinds of relationships had this to say about one of his clients due to a movie that didn’t do so well:

“It was more of a mutual agreement between the agents and we had a male who actually had a movie coming out and it was getting a lot of bad reviews and slack and they wanted to take the negativity of the movie away and make it more about him”

Sound familiar at all? Try swapping at “movie” with “music” and “negativity of the movie” with “recent fandom drama” and bam! You have Zayn Malik circa 2015.

This wasn’t just beneficial to Zayn, either. Hardly anyone outside the US knew who Hadid was, and she had had PR relationships in the past that weren’t all that successful (Joe Jonas and Cody Simpson), so having someone like Zayn who was known world wide thanks to his success with 1D, this would have been a no brainer. And it worked, incredibly well. Everyone was talking about the new up and coming couple and this brought a lot of attention Zayn’s first music video as a solo artist and people outside the fashion realm began paying attention to her. Mission successful.

There’s a lot more I could say about this couple that definitely raises eyebrows (like the fact that she has pulled similar stunts with Cody in the past, both starring in his music video and couple photo shoots), and if you’d like to go into it, feel free to message me or browse my zigi is fake tag. Or better yet, visit some of the many other ziam accounts that go into a lot more detail than I have in the past. I recommend @yaz-the-spaz and @somewhereisaplacethatziamknow off the top of my head. But I hope no one goes over there to be rude and disrespectful, because honestly, what’s the point? If you’re trying to change someone’s mind, you’re not going to do it by insulting them and not bringing anything of substance to the conversation. If you ask politely, I would be more than happy to answer, as I am doing here.

As for your point in regards to how I can look up to someone who would part take in such a stunt I have two responses; he doesn’t like doing it, and he doesn’t have a choice in the matter - that’s just how the industry works. If you look at all the times the paparazzi have “caught” (take this however you want) them leaving that NY apartment. Zayn, and sometimes even Gigi, don’t look like the happy, loved up couple all the articles claim them to be:

I find this one particularly funny because he is holding his own hand and it looks like she just slipped her hand in there for the photo.

And then you have this photo of them finally reconciling in the street conveniently in front of some paps:

He’s not touching her anywhere other than the mouth (look at that starbucks promo lmao), his hands are pockets, and he may have actually missed her mouth:

And in the rest of the photos he looks fed up and barely touches her, if at all:

Remember, this was after they’ve reconciled, and yet he doesn’t look interested her in the slightest.

Even if you think they were an actual couple, this would be an incredibly toxic relationship. They have “broken up and got back together” how many times now? (legitimate question, I have lost count). They paint the narrative like Zayn riddled with mental health problems and Gigi is the only one that can save him, but sometimes, it just gets too much for her:

“A second source explained there was an honest effort to make their second go at their relationship a success. The two “tried hard to make it work,” the source said, but Malik has “a lot of his own issues that she couldn’t help him get through.”

You could make the claim that this quote is made up, but then I could argue the very same thing about every quote ever made about their relationship. Why would you want to support a couple if this is the way they are portrayed?

And then “Zayn” tweets this when Gigi is rumoured to be dating someone else:

“When lord knows I don’t deserve it” What the hell is that supposed to mean? It’s just honestly so fucking gross no matter which way you look at it.

As for your question as to why she would have a baby for PR, look at the amount of attention she has gotten over these pregnancy rumours just in the last few days. Imagine if she would begin talking about it all of the time, all the promotional deals she could get. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was tired of modelling and ends up doing YouTube or something full time.

There is a lot of things that don’t add up with this pregnancy nonsense. Like the fact that she isn’t showing at all despite the fact that, going by the timeline, she is five months along. Not only would she have gotten pregnant immediately after after they apparently rekindled their relationship (which, with her Hashimoto’s disease is incredibly unlikely), but she doesn’t look pregnant in the slightest. That baby is five months along, and is almost completely formed, organs and all. The baby is the size of a mango, and yet her stomach has remained flat this entire time? No growth at all?:

That, and her own father called it gossip. If she has been pregnant for five months at this point, shouldn’t he know that his daughter is pregnant with his first grandchild?

And I will give it to you that she might be drinking decaf, but how about recording yourself horse riding? Not only that, but horse riding in general while you are pregnant is incredibly dangerous to both the baby and the mother’s health:

But as your pregnancy progresses, the risk of serious injury – to you and your baby – increases. If you get thrown from or kicked by a horse after your first trimester, once the baby has moved higher up in the abdomen, there’s little to protect the baby from harm.

What’s more, the jostling motion of horseback riding can increase your risk of placental abruption, a serious pregnancy complication in which the placenta separates from the uterus.

What’s more, is she apparently has Hashimoto’s disease, which makes it incredibly hard to get pregnant in the first place, and can increase the likelihood of a miscarriage. Why would she even want to risk it, given the fact that she already has a high risk pregnancy during a pandemic where healthcare is limited, the likelihood of her getting pregnant is low, and she increases the risk by not even paying attention to the task, but record herself doing so? It doesn’t make a shred of sense.

There’s so much to this narrative that doesn’t add up.

Again, I appreciate the civility, and I like being challenged, it gives me a good opportunity to back up my beliefs in evidence, which I believe to be incredibly important. So if anyone has any other questions feel free to DM or send me an ask.

Alright!! I'll Do My Best! I’ll be translating all the tweets released so far (from Nov. 20-26), but I’m not that fluent, so please be patient with me >.<;; I’ll also be taking some liberties to make it easier to understand in English so these won’t be direct translations. There may be multiple translations, so I welcome anyone else to also try to translate this! Mikoshiba also tweets in very casual speech, with lots of slang, so it’s possible I don’t properly translate some things.

To start, on Nov. 20, 2020, the Mikoshiba twitter surprised everyone by tweeting the following!

Nozaki told me to advertise our company on Twitter. I wonder there’ll be any effect from advertising like this is.

We’ve started preparing for Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun’s 10 year anniversary project for next year but... I was soberly shaken, saying, “What...? 10 years...?“

What.... Wakamatsu hasn’t figured out the Lorelei mystery even after 10 years...?

That’s why the relationships have been slowly moving forward recently!

I’m realizing this after writing this, but Sensei says, “ ローレライのナゾ ”, literally the “Lorelei Mystery” or “riddle”... Maybe the AU will have something to do with that?

Ah! That’s why, after 4 years (4years!?), Mikoshiba’s twitter is being used again.

This time it’s a Detective Parallel universe, So instead of a “Future Timeline” it’s a “Nozaki, somewhere in a parallel universe” story!

Since there’s still a year until the 10 year anniversary project, Sensei will probably continue world building through the Mikoshiba twitter... But there isn’t a set schedule or story line yet.

I was thinking about what to tweet about, but I think first I’ll introduce our employees.

Mikoshiba actually says, “I was thinking about what to advertise”, but I think “promote” or even “tweet” (because that’s more general) makes more sense here.

Either way!! After this, we’re introduced to the Nozaki Detective Agency Employees!! (Which is where that Hori photo came from :D)

First off is Nozaki!!

Representative Nozaki Umetaro.

23 years old. Manga artist-detective. His manga penname is “Yumeno Sakiko”

... Yeah... “Manga artist” and ”detective”. I don’t know what that means.

After reading a detective novel he thought “Detectives are cool!” or something It seems he started this office but still admires novels.

The last half of that was... really hard to translate (lol)... But hopefully it makes sense!

“If I solve a case, maybe someone will write a novel about it,“ he said, glimmering (hopefully/excitedly) No one is going to write it! (That’s not how it works!)

So then he said, “Ah, then I’ll draw it myself!” and started drawing manga. In this month’s issue, the heroine and her boyfriend had a date...

Huh? It’s a RomCom...?

So: Nozaki read a detective novel, thought it was cool and started an agency, then decided he also wanted to draw manga! So in this AU, he’s still a shoujo mangaka, but his day job is a detective (I guess LOL)

The next day!!! Is Hori-senpai!!

Employee 1: Hori Masayuki, age 24

He and Nozaki first met in high school, where he was his senpai. He’s generally really capable so he’s been a huge help after coming to our office!

The last sentence is... too hard for me to translate correctly (primarily cuz of the verb is kinda weird and the sentence subject has kanji I don’t know how to translate aa....)

But with my shipper heart, I personally read it as:

He often finds himself bickering with the one he likes, one of Nozaki’s guys! Ridiculous!

This may just be my own wishful thinking though, so please don’t take that as accurate lol

So a better, more accurate translation:

In Nozaki’s case, he only gets involved if he’s interested in it! Ridiculous!

In a similar fashion to Nozaki’s, he responds to the original tweet with more dialogue!

He’s a high schooler living in Nozaki’s neighborhood. It must be fun working part-time at our company.

Seems he recently tried horseback-riding. How bougie! ...I wonder what happened to the flower arranging class I used to attend...

Wakamatsu’s name here is actually written as “Wakamatsu-shounen” (lit. Wakamatsu-boy) and I just considered removing the last half, but remembered how it’s handled in BNHA lol

for TLDR; In preparation for GSNK’s 10 year anniversary, Tsubaki has started using Mikoshiba’s twitter to run a Detective AU! We haven’t seen any of the girls yet, but so far Nozaki, Mikoshiba, Hori, and Waka have been confirmed as the main characters/the employees at the Nozaki Detective agency.

Given context clues, I’m guessing the “mystery” will be the mystery of Lorelei, but that’s just speculation.

Yes, It’s Been Half A Decade Since TFA Was Released

Five years already? Geez!

If you’ve been following my humble Tumblr blog since the beginning, you’ll know I was not truly a Reylo until I saw TLJ. Before then, I was dealing with a movie that left me with a lot of mixed feelings. Why? I missed George Lucas for one thing. He has an indelible style that few can match and few really cared about that universe and its characters as much as he did. I was very unhappy to hear a month before TFA’s release that Disney tossed out his story and came up with something he didn’t really like very much (as later confirmed in Bob Iger’s memoir). As a long-suffering prequels fan I didn’t like either the vaguely anti-prequel tone the pre-release hype took. Whatever you do in life, don’t disrespect the man who created the GFFA.

The post-release hype probably annoyed me even more. Remember the doofuses screeching on t.v. that it was the best SW movie since TESB? LOL. (No, that would be ROTS and the only thing that came close since was TLJ.) I hated that a movie I felt was flawed not only got passes from the media that really trashed Lucas and everybody who worked on the prequels, but also got lavish Best 10 lists and award nominations. I was one bitter chickie for a while and later got a good laugh out of the backlash.

I thought it would be funny to post what I thought at the time, with added commentary:

Oh yes, the movie. My mother called it…it’s good, we all enjoyed it and were entertained, but Lucas’s touch is definitely missing. The romantic epic sweep of Eps I-VI, the goofy and whimsical touches, the feeling of being immersed in another galaxy, and Lucas’s gift for aesthetics aren’t there. The visuals don’t have that beauty and some of it is kinda ugly. The creature designs just aren’t as good. It’s not the kind of movie you watch dozens of times to catch little things. Even John Williams doesn’t have a knockout track like “Duel of the Fates” or “The Imperial March.” But it’s hard to think of how this was ever going to live up to any of it any more than I’d expect Suzanne Collins to write a Narnia book as good as C.S. Lewis. We lost those things when we lost Lucas.

I like the visuals a lot more now but TLJ’s cinematography rules the ST. Still feel the same about creature design; I see better aliens and creatures on The Mandalorian. One weird thing about the ST is how the filmmakers seemed to have avoided putting in anything at all that we’ve seen before. No Jawas, no Togrutas, no Twi’leks, no Zabraks, no Quarren, etc.. Just Chewbacca and Admiral Ackbar.

The music didn't leave much an impression on me at the time but now I love “Rey’s Theme,” “Kylo Ren’s Theme,” and “March of the Resistance.”

As long as we’re on that note, I’ll get to the film’s flaws first. The movie has a lot of snappy, arch, and funny dialogue but you can tell the script was cranked out in a hurry. It lacks the careful structure of its predecessors and cribs a little too much from ANH. Poe disappears and you are led to believe he’s dead then he suddenly shows up healthy and hale with no explanation. Abrams’s first Star Trek film was riddled with unbelievable coincidences and unfortunately this movie has some of those too, such as when Han and Chewie just happen upon the Falcon in space. The film does very little to set up what’s going on and why, such as why the hell is the Republic fighting the same a-holes after all of these years. Abrams prefers instead to keep the action going instead of doing much exposition, which is pretty much what he did with the Trek films. Those little moments in Lucas’s Star Wars films don’t happen much here. Things must always be occurring, which dumps all of the responsibility for character development and world building on Rian Johnson and Colin Trevorrow. I have no idea why they decided to be all teasy-weasy with who Rey’s parents are instead of just telling us. (I suspect Luke is her father.)

LOL! I guess the adoption by proxy thing at the very end of TROS proved me right or...did it? Yes, my first assumption after seeing TFA was that Rey and Kylo Ren were cousins.

As for the rest of it, I still feel the same. Rushed script, borrows too much from ANH, precious few explanations/set-up, not as good structure but still full of humor.

BB-8 is a charmer, Finn and Rey (who are so going to hook up) HA! But remember I thought Rey and Kylo were cousins! have some charm and potential growth as characters, and it was great seeing our old crew again even if not under ideal circumstances. (Personally I would’ve preferred NOT to have broken up Han and Leia.) Hux had some mustache-twirling moments and Abrams was at least smart enough not to kill off him, Ren, or Snoke just yet. Finn and Poe have a good rapport (maybe they’re going to hook up).

Stormpilot definitely pinged the slash-dar. It was completely unsurprising to find fans shipping them.

Abrams seemed to have avoided the mistake James Cameron made in “Avatar” when he killed off his most threatening villain while planning sequels. As you might have guessed, I was really shocked at Snoke’s death in TLJ. I wasn’t expecting that until IX. I was also really shocked at the casual, quick-get-rid-of-him ways both Hux and Ben were killed off in TROS.

The most compelling aspect of TFA for me was the Skywalker family drama, which made me wish it was more up front rather than a subplot. Ben Solo/Kylo Ren is a conflicted guy with a huge chip on his shoulder and it makes you wonder exactly what happened to him because I think he may have mental issues. Leia knows there’s still good in him but can a guy who commits patricide be saved? (RIP Han…I so knew this would happen because I figure it was the only way Ford would’ve done another film). Can his cousin/half-sister or whatever Rey save him? Would she want to? With Luke back in the picture and Artoo activated again, what will happen next? Even though they split up Han and Leia I liked the banter between them; it’s sad because they clearly still loved each other.

This is still true for me. A few days after posting this it struck me just how nihilistic TFA was because I found Han and Leia’s split unnecessary (had Han gone out for Chinese food or on a mission for the Resistance instead of just being a loser smuggler, it wouldn’t have changed anything that happened in the film) and what I thought was Kylo’s certain fate to be a narrative bummer. TLJ made me think they weren’t going on that direction only to be proven right in TROS (sadly).

I’ll dispense with the stupid Snoke is Plageuis theory and my dad wondering if Finn was Mace Windu’s lost son or something, though I’ll give him half a point for Finn turning out to be Force-sensitive after all.

I don’t know why people have said this takes them back to the ’70s because the film really is a 2015 movie made for an audience reared largely on the MCU, YA flicks, and other staples of contemporary geek culture. It is what it is and we aren’t going to get back the films of George Lucas and his influence. TFA might not be an awesome Star Wars movie but it is at least a good sci-fi action flick.

I still stand by most of this. Time and TLJ made TFA a better movie in my eyes.
