I studied Mandarin for 7 years, then, due to the pandemic I stopped. I wanted to have more time, but in reality there was too much pressure. So now I've started this langblr to maintain my language level, otherwise I know I will lose a language I studied for this long. And I would hate that. As I now have less pressure I started studying Mandarin again and hopefully I can add Japanese and Korean. My music and classic rock/grunge rock stuff is still going to be on my sideblog @1984-mo-ichido .

So you want tutorials, right?
Tumblr media
Yes I am getting there, I am kinda burnt out by my studies and all. But just so you know, YES I absolutely love this hive nest that is Tumblr. And until it is no longer hospitable as to export my several dozens of Gigabytes worth of content to a Hexo static blog of my very own with some Landchad.net -y stuff, I will stay there.
That being said, what would you like to see specifically? I still got truck-loads of suggestions to address but maybe you can help me prioritize which should be addressed each week beside the abundance of reblogs / curations I do on a daily basis (when I get to experience posting limits regualrly, there you got quite a INTJ-T content maniac right there).
Maybe you would like me to demonstrate digital aesthetic notes about what I explore? Maybe observe me go through tutorial books I got with my own twists? Or even just plain dump data onto you all about my personal projects as I do a daily/weekly effort to address my massive vast backlog of things I wish I did earlier... I give you some time to suggest things before I go into the rabbit hole of addressing many topics at once like some Steve... the Wozniak I mean!
Tumblr media
By the way, I got a sweet fancy graphic tablet to draw my retro doodles with, so let's hope we get to see some new assets made with such a powerful toy... And before I got make some such cool shit and end my homework chores, let`s get a hand of this superb

Studying when EXAUSTED
This is for those times when you really desperately want to be productive and get things done but you can't focus and you just want to sleep but you didn't do anything today so you feel shitty.
if you can, please just go to sleep (I do get that sometimes you feel so shitty about how little work you got done that you can't sleep, but if you can, please do it and approach tomorrow with a fresh start)
plan out what tomorrow is going to look like. I will break it down by task, for example: 6:00 wake up, 6:05 work out 6:15 shower, 6:30 make tea, 6:40 start work, 7:30 break etc. This will 1) help you feel better about not getting anything done 2) can help you be more productive tomorrow.
if you have things to do that are easy/low brain power, do them. These are things like printing out work, scanning stuff, tidying your kitchen. getting these little things out of the way can make a HUGE difference later
if you can, just read over your material. Don't even try to understand, just read it. Tomorrow when you come back to try and actually learn it, you will already be a little familiar and it can speed things up for you
eat something, drink something, and see if it makes you feel better- many times when i'm "unable" to go on, I eat a meal and drink a glass or two of water and magically I feel great again
try doing a workout- sometimes it just makes the exhaustion worse, but if you need to stay up later (shoutout to my fellow 6:30 pm bedtime pals) it can stretch time a little bit, and sometimes wakes up your brain. It's also good for you and can make your sleep go better
DONT DRINK COFFEE. or tea. no caffeine. you are already tired, it's not going to fix anything, its just going to make you jittery and sad. it's also going to upset your sleep schedule and make the tired worse for tomorrow.
lastly- just go to bed. pushing through true exhaustion is not going to help you or anyone else. anything you try and learn is going to float right out of your head, and it can lead to burnout which will make everything worse. Please just sleep

there is nothing wrong with being mediocre. there is nothing wrong with not being the best at everything you do. there is no guilt in doing the bare minimum because you have no energy to do more than that. “living your life to the fullest” can mean different things for you at different times in your life. sometimes, it is achieving your goals and fulfilling your purpose, and sometimes, it is allowing yourself to rest and just get through it.
you deserve the space to simply be. to exist, to witness, to breathe, and to find peace.

habits i should try to avoid burnout 🍵
to varying degrees, every semester i burn out. this one may become the worst i've had in recent years if i'm not careful bc of the way i'm trying to pack my schedule. anxiety has been unexpectedly high this week and it's only week 1! 😖
🐢 self-care:
get 8-10 hours of sleep daily
daily exercise - enough to get me physically tired enough to sleep
meditate AND journal daily
give myself at least one day a week to chill (probably will be a "reset" day bc i can't just vegetable and expect my brain to not self-destruct. for now, let's try saturdays.)
more quality time with the people i love throughout the week
fresh air + sunlight when the weather isn't too inhospitable
no phone mornings (i quickly fell out of the habit but it did wonders for my mental health 😭)
🐰 time management:
set reasonable goals. don't kid yourself into thinking you can complete everything on a to-do list you doubt you can finish even half of - if you doubt, you're probably right.
take plenty of breaks throughout the day
don't procrastinate bc procrastination's consequences will definitely lead to burnout. on the days you just don't feel it, give yourself a reason to study that speaks to you. what is demotivating you? give yourself the encouragement you need to not give up.
vary the order in which you do things so your days feel like they have more variety (e.g. vary the order in which you work on different subjects every day)
study based on energy level (i.e. try to study high-energy subjects when you have high energy and low-energy subjects when you have low energy. stop for the day when you're just not there anymore, don't try to push it.) this doesn't have to be contradictory to the point above cuz i still have lots of choices for what to do and my energy sometimes fluctuates like crazy throughout a single day.

-> All those people in those old photographs I've seen are dead, and in the end, I'd do it all again, I think you're my best friend. - Fall Out Boy

27/11/22 • 100 days of productivity - 26/100
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• i am so unbelievably overwhelmed with school work right now - why are teachers setting so much homework when we have revision to be doing instead? and although i take 3 essay based subjects, i am still struggling on timing. of course i should do more practice papers but i just do not have the time. so much homework to do, then all the revision notes i have to make since i slacked so much towards the end of year 12. the epq is a constant burden and preparation for mock uni interviews. i fear i’m nearly at breaking point. my entire world seems consumed by school, and as much as i like learning, right now i feel like i am just trying to complete an endless list of to-dos now.
any tips on how to balance my life from my studies would be much appreciated.

Virgo Season and Work
✒ as we move into Virgo from Leo here are some observations designed to clear any study or career blocks
Tumblr media
♧ virgo can be great at the nitpicky organisation that comes with studying. expect them to have perfect notes. however this doesn't make their approach less meaningful. instead they are great at finding meaning in the small things
♧ gemini and aquarius can be flightier. when the sun is in practical virgo they may feel antsier and more inclined to rebel or overthrow the old order. gemini may struggle picking subjects or majors. A dual degree is good for them. aquarius may want to challenge existing theories and paradigms and feel unappreciated in educational institutions.
♧ highly emotional and intuitive signs like cancer and pisces can struggle to find meaning in practical work. meanwhile fire signs may require a lot of agency over their studies. they don't like following a set course and may question their lecturers or tutors. probably also the most likely signs to drop out of education.
If you like this post, check out my focus on pluto placements HERE.
Please also feel free to reblog and fill my asks but do not repost or take the text without asking for the purposes of tumblr or any other social media! Thank you 💕

❥﹒♡﹒☕﹒ 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘁; this is my personal way of coping with burnout, it may not work for you, but feel free to share in the comments the things that make you feel better when you feel this way ( blogger's note at the end of the post ).
𝟭. recognize the signs ( 🏳️ )
the moment of denial is over. i know, burnouts always come at the worst times when you have upcoming exams and a thousand things to do, but ignoring it won't get you anywhere, on the contrary, it will only prolong the worst, so recognizing and accepting the signs of burnout is the first step to getting out of it. if you don't end it, it'll end you, right? some common symptoms of burnout are exhaustion, excessive irritability, hormonal imbalances, change in appetite (too much or too little), sleep irregularities, increase in nervous tics.
𝟮. take time off ( 🫧 )
allow yourself to rest and recharge by taking a break from work or other stressors. depending on the severity of the burnout you may need an afternoon, or perhaps a couple of days to recover, it's not important, the important thing is that you reserve some deep rest that can really recharge you to start studying/working again. put off all non-essential tasks, put your phone on do not disturb mode and allow your brain to rest. if you have slept little in the previous days, taking a nap will not be bad.
𝟯. set boundaries + practice self care ( 🌱 )
establish clear boundaries between work and personal life to prevent burnout from reoccurring. prioritize activities that promote physical and mental well-being, such as exercise, meditation, and hobbies. i personally love taking care of my body doing beauty treatments that make me feel better about myself. i also deep clean my room and change my bedsheets, if it's true that the mess in our room is a reflection of the mess in our mind i can't see why it can't go both ways: removing the mess from my room is like cleaning my head from the stress in it.
𝟰. rearrange priorities ( 🐝 )
delegate everything you can delegate, you can't do everything alone and it's normal to seek support from colleagues and family. reorganize yourself so you have a plan to follow as soon as you recharge your batteries. ask yourself what led to burnout, was it the workload? in that case breaking it into smaller tasks could make it less onerous. maybe it was it's difficulty? maybe asking for help or using some time for additional research might work. in short, prepare a realistic scheme to follow to tackle the task.
𝟱. seek support ( ❣️ )
talk to friends, family, or a therapist about your feelings and experiences to gain perspective and emotional support.
𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 hi everyone, it's no secret that i've posted very little in the last week, but unfortunately i experienced a bad burnout that incapacitated me for a few days. family circumstances, academic stress and the arrival of spring have added up to take away the strength to do anything from me, but i'm here to recover and here is a simple guide that i always follow when i find myself in these situations. on the one hand i'm happy tho, it's my first burnout since i started university, eight months ago now, i remember that when i was in high school they were much more frequent and long, i feel i've become much more stable.
