Anyone have some advice for getting out of a reading slump?
I’ve been struggling to stick with books, jumping from one to another and feeling like I’m going no where.

Me: I so desperately want to read books again. I don't remember the last time I've taken a book in my hands
Also me: *everything I've been reading for the last 5 years*

Having reader’s block is the weirdest feeling ever.
I open ao3, look at all the stories and updates from so many wonderful and talented writers in our fandom, and I close ao3.
Every once in a while, I click on a one-shot and try reading it but more often than not I only skim the words.
If that’s the price to pay for not having writer’s block anymore, I don’t know how to feel about it.
I miss reading and enjoying Sam/Jack fanfiction. 🙁

I hope I'm not the only one who experiences reader's block for about a week after I finish a really good book or series. It's impossible for me to read anything else. I will obsess over that book every hour of the day and then I just... can't read.
The same thing happens with movies.

I feel this in my bones, and I might actually hate this MORE than writer's block...

Not me re-reading the entire Percy Jackson series because my executive dysfunction won't let me read anything new.

That feeling when you REALLY just wanna curl up with some good fanfiction, but you can't FOR THE LIFE OF YOU, figure out what it is you want to read!!! No fandoms or specific characters are sticking out. All I want to do is READ. But I can't fucking PICK WHAT I want to read!!! Or who I want to read about!!! Or what world I want to be transported to!!!
Is this readers block?!?!
Help!! I'm desperate!!!

reader's block :(
I finally forced myself to start a book that's been on my TBR list, because the author is the mom of my childhood friend and I want to have read it before I see her again...but I just can't get into it! So now I'm torn between forcing myself to finish it even though I'm not excited and putting it down and reading other books until I'm ready to try again :'( ugghhhh

ways to get over readers block
stop reading for a day and read something else
read fanfiction about the thing your reading
write fanfiction
reread random chapters
yell at the thing your reading
refresh your memory of the first chapter
read another version of the thing your reading
read the thing again like 3 chapters before the point your at
drink something cold (or hot depending on the weather)

I think AO3 ruined me in a book reader sense bc I just keep starting reading books and never finishing them
I really want to read something but none of the books on my to read list are calling my attention, like i want more fanfic of this ship bc I already read them all and Im freaking out
Ive been struggling with readers block for years? And I just know realising that this might be the reason
Fanfic are shorter too... Average would be 15 - 20 chapters most are just one shots or 3 chapters, that might be why I left books in the middle of the story
Its hard to conect with book characters bc im used to pick stories based on characters and relationships that already know
If a read a book that Ive already read before is more easy as well... Like Ive re-read the Hunter Games and TATBILB trigolies w no issue (even TATBILB was a weird thing bc Ive been struggling w readers block when I read It, and after i finished i didnt pick another book for years... I read the Unhoneymoners a couple months ago, started 2 other books afterwards and finished none...
Ive been trying to read "Where She Went" FOR YEARS
YEARS
Idk how many... 3 - 4 maybe more years where I pick up and drop this fcking book without finishing it !
(idk if its bc I didnt really read the first, just watched the movie or what...)

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is such a comfort series - funny, witty, brimming with ideas. My favourite aspect is how I turn to it for mindless humour, and it does give me mindless humour, but it also sprinkles in subtle messages about proportion and scale and makes one feel tiny and insignificant and reminds one to take life less seriously
