However, I think with the devil card, you actually understand that having such power can be dangerous, and you’re trying to change the way you manipulate your admirers. Some of you are trying to let go of the satisfaction of having such control, and the rest of you are trying to release this guiltiness when you unintentionally manipulate someone. And in order to incorporate what you desire, you must understand that these desires are natural to have, and you must understand not to kill yourself over them like you keep doing. The jewels, or riches, are the love and generosity you give them. But the golden cup is your heart. My intuition is telling me that you are pure as a river as it flows around a rocky area. At this moment, I’m really picking up this feeling of sadness and anger. I feel like you guys are very angry with yourself, you’re very emotional, and you’re really hating yourself at the moment because you let people walk over you and you try your hardest for them, but you don’t get the same appreciation. When you let people walk over you, you allow yourself to fill a bottle; in this case, the bottle is overflowing, and some of it has exploded for others. I can feel a lot of wrath in my heart right now as I channel this message. I’m also feeling that there’s a particular boy in your life who has a major crush on you despite your sexuality, and they like how cute, pure, and innocent you are. I need to tell you that the answer that you are looking for is within yourself, but you do not accept it because you do not like the answer. Sometimes we have questions about life and we want a different answer, and sometimes when we find out, we want to change it because that's not what we want, but that does not help us in our path and how we can enjoy life, so you must listen to yourself and your intuition because all of you do not listen to it at all. Some of you say logic this, logic that, and some of you say or listen to what your heart feels at that very moment, and both of these are ok, but it is important to prioritize your intuition because it knows best. And I understand what it’s like to follow logic more than your intuition, as this is how human brains function because of what society taught us and this is how we have grown up. However, it is important to prioritize your intuition in these circumstances if you want to heal from the trauma that you’re putting away from fear.

I know that a majority of you wanted to come here and find out what makes you seductive, but you got more advice than qualities, and I believe it’s because you need to focus on your healing. I did mention 3–4 qualities, which is very true for you, so do not worry that you are not seductive because you are, and I can feel your energy. It’s very beautiful. However, I want you to really focus on healing yourself and saying positive affirmations. Try to at least allow yourself to disconnect from those who do not treat you well, and make sure to learn how to say no and prioritize yourself so you don’t end up in a rabbit hole. Because I feel your emotions right now, and it has a lot of anxiety, and that is what I’m feeling right now. You're doing this for a reason, so you can become your higher self. The people who are meant to stay in our lives are meant to be with us and will help us achieve our higher selves. For those who are not meant to stay with us, I truly believe they are a lesson. I feel like they are there to teach us something so we can become the people we are meant to be, but we cannot become them if we don’t learn what’s right for us.

People love you, and people care about you. I care about you, and I enjoy your company, whether it’s anonymous or not, but you must know that you are not worthless. You are worthy and you are so loved right now, and I can feel this sense of peace right now as I channel your message. I can feel this sense of comfort, and some of you right now are taking a picture of this or screen recording it. And I also feel some of you are crying because I can feel your inner pain or because I understand you (because people don’t), and I am glad I can be the light for you. mental health check-in for reality shifting.

as we all know, reality shifting is generally neural thing but tends to be glorified & romanized by a select few due to people wanting to have a better situation or a more desirable life.

that in itself is totally fine but this post is created with the intent to make sure the community has a healthy relationship with shifting & if not possible solutions.

if mental health is left unchecked it can lead to destructive behaviors & can worsen preexisting mental health concerns. for me personally, that’s not what shifting is about. you can learn about yourself & grow without even shifting. the expansion of your perspective & becoming more empathetic to yourself is something i believe is extremely important.

♡ how often do you think about shifting ?

while it’s fun to daydream & think about your desired reality — does it consume your life or take away from other tasks that need to get done in this reality? if you’re somebody who has maladaptive daydreaming disorder (like myself!) it can exacerbate the fantasy-like aspect of thinking about shifting.

if you’re someone whose mind wanders a lot do something productive. this could be finishing some homework that you’ve been putting off for a long time or rearranging your bedroom. stuff like partaking in hobbies while listening to youtube videos in the background may help too.

♡ why are you shifting ?

is it because you’re searching for something bigger ? maybe you’re looking for friends ? while you probably aren’t going to be able to meet your favorite characters here, you can meet lots of other people & make new connections at anytime. if it’s in person or even if it’s in an online space , i bet there are lots of people in this comment section or any shifting video who would love to be your friend.

defining why you want to shift can do wonders for uncovering more about yourself. 90% of the things people want to shift for are & can be found here & you’re more then worthy of them. just because you want something like love or a sense of belonging doesn’t mean you have to travel the multiverse for it.

while i understand frustration, extremes that result in life altering & ending choices are never good and quite frankly, frightening for a creator to see in their comment sections. most sv!c!des are committed on impulse. we go through so many emotions on the daily & process so much information a day. taking a moment alone to think & break down thought process & long term effects your actions will have is a nice way to come back down to earth.

meditation is also a great tool to calm down. you can even use shifting guided meditations without the actual intention to shift. breath work has also been helpful to me.

i understand these suggestions aren’t long term fixes but if you’re someone who has echoed these words & truly meant it then i cannot recommend therapy & possible taking a break from shifting even more to focus on yourself right here where you are. this may not be the answer you’d like to hear but it’s the one that is possibly needed.

♡ timing.

there is no specific time frame that you have to shift. both children & adults do hold the capability to shift. if someone tells you, you can’t shift because ___ or that you’ll age out of something its simply not true. things take time & it’s okay if your journey doesn’t look like everyone else’s. there’s no need to stress yourself out. try to enjoy the journey as well as being excited for the outcome. essentially, a large part of the shifting journey is meditation & affirmations which are both beneficial to your mental & physical self. try to sprinkle in some self love affirmations or general positive thoughts too. even if you need to take a step away from shifting & pick it up at a later date, i encourage you to do so if it’s stressing you out or you’re only focusing on shifting or neglecting your life / responsibilities here.

Do you think about the whole Rick Prime thing? Did it kinda feel anticlimactic???

Yeeahhhhhh, but... I think that's the point!

At first, I was a little bit disappointed with how they handled the arc. I really thought Prime was going to be the Big Bad! Having the whole climax of C-137's arc with Prime as a mid-season episode felt oddly... dismissive? It was like it wasn't even a major event.

After sitting on this for a bit, I think I actually love how they've handled it. I think this is the first time I've really seen the show take something that perfectly fills a 'Television Run' format (i.e. big events at the ends of the seasons for cliffhangers, and so on) and subvert those expectations into something more like 'Real Life.' In my opinion, a lot of the show is shown as how characters involved view the events, especially in terms of tonality. That's why so much of the show fits these media formulas-- Rick views his life as a show.

I often refer to the majority of the show as 'Rick's Director's Cut' because we get events skewed from his warped perception of his own actions. (You can even think of 'Morty's Mindblowers' as Rick literally editing footage into a better story.) Of course, we see why he's sympathetic. As the viewer, we understand why he's doing what he's doing, even if we don't agree with it. He views himself as the 'sitcom dad'-- comically fucked up and abusive, but secretly caring. Rick believes that he's got just enough heart for his actions to be excusable, forgetting that the people he hides his intentions from aren't getting the 'full picture' like the viewer is. From Morty's perspective, Rick does these things for no reason-- unless you count not liking, caring about, or valuing Morty. Of course, we know that's not the case, but Morty doesn't. His family doesn't.

The Prime arc is fascinating to me because of the contrast between how Rick viewed it versus how it happened from the perspective of the viewer. Rick went into the Prime arc thinking it would be a massive, badass epic where the underdog comes out on top and the audience is satisfied with the conclusion. As the audience, this is probably the first time we haven't really been able to click with that, you know? It was unsatisfying, even for Rick, and now he's sort of saddled with, 'Oh, shit. This is real life. What comes next?'

Sure, they're little guys on our television screens. To them, though... that's real life. Real life is messy. Real life is unsatisfying. Real life is disappointing, the editing is sloppy, arcs aren't linear, and dysfunction and substance abuse aren't silly character traits.

The whole point is: What happens now?

In real life, what happens after your abusive parent passes away or you finally get revenge on the person who tore your life apart? In real life, what happens after you beat the shit out of the guy who assaulted you? Or after your dad apologizes for walking out on you?

There's actually a Malcolm in the Middle scene reminiscent of this concept. Francis was blamed by Lois from the time he was born for ruining their relationship. Throughout the entire series, his arcs deal with their broken relationship. When she finally apologizes, the pinnacle of his hopes and dreams-- the only thing keeping him alive, it doesn't help. It doesn't fix the years of psychological abuse he suffered, or the fact that he's as broken as he is because of her failure as a parent.

Another great example is in Adventure Time, when Finn thinks he's ripped Martin's arm off for causing him to lose his own. The revenge doesn't help. (Sorry, not digging for a link to the scene lmao.)

Those things aren't satisfying on their own. The fantasies and daydreams we barter through aren't feasible cures. That's real life. What happens afterward is what you do next. That can be a tough pill to swallow. There's no quick 'fix-all' for everything that's fucked you up. What helps? Hard work. Dedication. Time. Therapy. Grief. Acceptance.

Rick never really worked through the grieving process, you know?

After Prime's death? Depression:

Four decades later, we're finally on the cusp of Acceptance.

That's what that look into the hole was. That's what putting up Morty's picture was. That's what choosing to walk away was.

Acceptance.

In conclusion of my long-winded rant, I liked the Prime arc. Fits nicely into the season after the finality of 'Fear No Mort.'

My blog is more a place to store random photos and silly posts that remind me of my OCs, but I really would like to turn it into something more substantial!

Haven

Plot: When a teenage girl finds herself back in her child self's body after wishing for "the good old days", she attempts to use this chance to prevent her brother's suicide.

Genre: Contemporary coming of age, second person interactive fiction

Heather: The main character. An extremely shy, isolated, self-absorbed 17 year old who wants to be unconditionally loved above all. Endlessly curious, and longs for independence while fearful of it. Artistic and daydreams to cope.

Beau: Heather's older brother. Taking care of Heather was his responsibility as a child due to their father working, and their mother's depression confining her to her room. Well liked and deeply kind, but coddling and dishonest, Beau does everything he can to keep his struggles from himself and others. Suffered from a traumatic car accident at 19, and killed himself at 24.

Erin: Has known the two since she was 12, and dated Beau since his car accident. Good sense of humor and doesn't bullshit anyone. She thinks Beau's digging his own mental hole, and that Heather's burdened him too much. The siblings' parents don't approve of Erin's relationship with him because of her drug addiction. 24 years old.

Trigger warnings: Suicide/suicide ideation, death, self harm, neglect, intense portrayals of anxiety and panic attacks, car accidents, drug use

Prodigal

Plot: A priest decides to bring justice to the world by slaughtering those he deems morally reprehensible in the eyes of God.

Genre: Loosely Victorian inspired fantasy, in a setting controlled and dominated by Catholicism. Religious (trauma) fiction. Third person present tense

Celio: "The" main character. Keeping many secrets. Thoughtful and patient during his priestly duties, rigid and very bad-tempered otherwise. Well known for being one of the best speakers of his time. Selfish, arrogant, and extremely paranoid, especially of immorality and what others' intentions are, yet it does nothing to stop him sinking further and further into immoral and criminal behavior. 32-35 years old.

Finn: A main character. Celio's secret lover and pawn. Saved from prison time by Celio after Finn was falsely deemed responsible for his family's massacre. Looked down on and considered an outsider by all; pursuing becoming a doctor and surgeon with no license or ability to read. Coolheaded and humorous, but passive and stubborn. Just wants to do good for his poverty-stricken hometown, and to be respected. 32-35 years old.

Charity: Main antagonist. A mostly nonverbal, "orphaned" teen girl who Finn becomes a caretaker for. In actuality, she ran away from home after being ostracized by her church. She likes Finn, and gets along with Celio well enough, until she discovers his crimes and tries to separate Finn from the danger to no avail. Calm, sensible, and strongwilled, but with a bite to her. Has decided she's had enough of betrayal in her life, and that she'll take matters into her own hands, even if it means having to turn on those she once cared for. 16-17 years old.

Pearl: Antagonist. She first graduated from college with a degree in criminology at a mere 17 years old, making her a prime target for scouting by the police, but has remained an independent detective leading a relatively peaceful life. Charity hires Pearl to help catch Celio (and Finn as his accomplice), pulling her into a web of murders and lies even she hasn't yet seen outside of her textbooks. Goes from cherrypicking cases due to fear of failing the reputation of her genius (and therefore her people), to completely trusting her instincts, taking on any challenge ahead of her. Gentle and analytical, but sensitive and obsessive. 24-28 years old.

Trigger warnings: Religious trauma, homophobia, sexual content, death, murder, gore, suicide, gun and knife usage, abuse (physical, emotional, financial, domestic, spiritual), harm to animals, smoking and drinking

The Day You Left (TDYL)

Plot: A teenager travels back to his hometown and reunites with his childhood best friend, sparking a slow, difficult mending of happenings previous.

Genre: Romance novel taking place in the mid 2000s, third person present tense

Skip: The main character. A very monotone trans 19 year old with a photography hobby and history of homelessness. He used to have severe anger issues, and they still come to the surface sometimes when reminded of his trauma. Ex-Christian atheist, vehemently. Avoidant to a fault.

Milo: A boisterous, reckless, punk teenager who used to be friends with Skip. Current sufferer of anger issues and struggles to pay the bills, usually resorting to delinquency. They have a complicated history, so Milo feels very mixed about seeing him again. "In between" Christian and atheist. 19 years old.

Josie: Skip's older sister, who he no longer has contact with. Traditionally evangelical and defensive of authority to the end. 17-18 years old in flashbacks.

Trigger warnings: Religious trauma, familial abuse, sexual content, suicide/suicide ideation, self harm, mentions of homophobia, underage drinking and smoking, arson

Washington Siblings Time lets goooo

Beth Washington

She likes instruments and can play quite a few different ones. (I feel like I saw a hc somewhere abt her playing guitar? It stuck with me).

She also plays some sports, but not as much as Hannah.

She was actually quite popular in school (based off her relationship stat with Jess being reasonably high).

She's lesbian.

Her 'role' in the group very much seems to be sort of like Sam's in that she's often trying to prevent trouble.

She's constantly looking out for her siblings, especially when they're in a big social situation like a party.

She wears beanies everywhere. Emotional support beanies.

Has a crush on Sam.

She's usually quite laid-back, but when she gets annoyed she's immediately furious. 0-100 real quick.

Hannah Washington

She likes insects a lot. Especially butterflies.

She can and will pick up spiders in her hands she literally does not fear any kind of bug or creepy crawlies.

She's quite artsy.

She's quite strong bc of all the sports she does. She, Sam and Matt often enough end up in weird little competitions and go on runs/hikes etc.

She was sort of the weird kid in most her classes, but wasn't often made fun of because of the people she was friends with and her siblings.

She's generally always a little caught up in her own daydreams.

She's trans.

She's neurodivergent. Idk what specifically but she is nd to me.

She's bi but it would take her forever to realise that.

As Beth describes her, she's often quite 'naive' and if it weren't for Sam, Beth and Josh she'd likely be the target of many jokes, some more harmless than others.

She's very optimistic, bright and chooses to see the best in people. She's not as social as her siblings and spends most her time with Sam. She likes being alone often, left to her own thoughts and fantasies and ideas.

Josh Washington

He's very into art and drama, especially horror of course.

He hangs out with Ashley and she helps him write scripts, while he draws things from her writing for her.

Despite this he is very jumpy and easily scared.

Because their parents are often super busy he very much took on the whole big-sibling caretaker role.

He's popular despite being really quiet and somewhat anti-social. He's the kind of guy who disappears off of any social media for weeks and is very difficult to get into contact with.

He likes playing pranks and jokes, but only when they're somewhat thought out. Like he isn't just going to jump out from behind a door and yell it's gotta be way more interesting.

He's trans (I don't have a specific hc for him I stick to I just know he's very genderfucky).

He's queer.

He hates Hannah's bugs and complains all the time about them but he'd never actually do anything to hurt them or upset Hannah.

He's quite pessimistic, sort of the opposite of Hannah. He's very paranoid of others and their intentions, and he often isolates himself because of that. This has a lot to do with his mental health though, he doesn't actually like being alone.

⇈: a dream I had about them

i don't dream about anything other than distorted perceptions of myself but if daydreams count then uh. unrealistic romantic fantasies for the large part

➷: a potential fanfiction idea I have considered writing about with them involved

ok so as you may have noticed by now i'm obsessed with doctor who and as you may have also noticed i'm currently into bbc ghosts and my thought was hey! what would be better than to combine them? there's a lot of backstory but the tl;dr is that (most of) the ghosts in bbc ghosts are different incarnations of the doctor - robin is the first doctor, fanny is (both numerically and similarly to the actual third doctor) the third doctor, etc.

the major exceptions to this rule are the captain (an ordinary human until SOMEONE made him immortal) and thomas, who for all intents and purposes is andred but nobody knows who that is so basically he's a very annoying time lord with a human fetish fondness for earth. various side characters (or minor ghosts) from the ghosts' lives pop up - jemima is the doctor's granddaughter; george button is a former companion of the doctor (when they were stuck on earth); the doctor got stuck with the plague ghosts at one point; and francis button joined a creepy scifi death cult, because of course he did.

the idea of the opening for this idea (here's where my fave comes in!) is that the doctor (mary) has just been burnt at the stake for "witchcraft" (read: funky futuristic science) and has regenerated into a new body (humphrey), accidentally crashed their tardis into 16th century england, and would you look at that! they just kidnapped someone. whoops. it is important to bear in mind that the doctor has basically just died and had his brain fucked up and really doesn't want to do anything right now.

enter sophie, who is absolutely furious about being kidnapped by some idiot who makes no sense and inexplicably smells of smoke. worse, the doctor can't get her home because there's some kind of time loop fixed point blah blah blah, forcing the two of them to cooperate and travel together or else the universe will implode. maybe. unfortunately, it soon turns out that the aforementioned francis button (aka cousin francis) is hot on their heels because a) he hates the doctor for helping thomas steal his fiancée from him and b) sophie should be dead and very much isn't and, well, it's not called faction paradox for nothing. even more unfortunately, the doctor has amnesia from the whole being burnt at the stake thing and is basically just bullshitting their way out of trouble and trying not to scream when fire comes up.

this is long but don't worry, i have more details! what sophie has yet to tell the doctor is that the reason her timeline is a little bit paradoxical is because he rescued her from being beheaded for treason, and admitting this would somewhat undermine her righteous anger over being kidnapped. oh well, hopefully at some point they can bond over being executed the state for going against its ideals and also being chased by some weirdo in a skull mask.

Reminder that I’m not a professional editor or proofreader. I cannot read or speak Mandarin. This is a fan revision for readability, not a re-translation. For a lengthy explanation of this pet project and repeated disclaimers, check here.

Below is my attempt at revising the Data Bank entry for the relic set “Genius of Brilliant Stars.” The real in-game text for that entry can be read here.

Quick note: I took (probably egregious) conscious liberties with this revision. Don't come for me. One of the quotes in particular is in honor of an incoming Galaxy Ranger who probably has nothing to do with the topic in question--but his, like, 6 lines of dialogue so far inspired a certain tone of narrative voice that I couldn't help but incorporate here.

Genius's Ultra-remote Sensing Visor

A pair of communication goggles embedded with ultra-remote sensing technology. They break through the shackles of limited transmission bandwidth with ease and can transmit reliably to extremely remote recipients.

It is a universally acknowledged truth that the Genius Society contains an overabundance of eccentricity, including—or at least contributing to—a serious lack of communication between its members. Indeed, social interaction is a burden for many people across the cosmos; for geniuses traveling between worlds, it is even more so.

Elias Salas, member 56 and the second head of the Genius Society, once tried to tackle this problem. Bringing his characteristic fervent completionism to bear on the matter, he developed custom-made communication goggles for each member and equipped them with ultra-remote sensing capabilities. From a technological standpoint, his creations were a complete success; however, few of his comrades were willing—or even interested—in actually connecting with each other. The greatest communication device in the universe, therefore, has never been fully utilized.

“The number that you—uh—dialed? It’s not in service.” “Ugh...if you’re going to fake a communication AI, at least put a bit of conviction behind it!”

Confronted with such a lukewarm reception to his invention, Elias Salas simply sighed. He was not especially surprised, given his compatriots’ tendencies to trivialize connectivity as unworthy of their valuable time. All the same, he had no regrets; he was certain that his communication technology would have its use in time, one way or another.

Genius's Frequency Catcher

A pair of gloves designed to function as a means of high-precision frequency capture. They enable the wearer to manually manipulate sounds and light through direct interaction with their otherwise nigh-intangible vibrations.

The ongoing research focus of Stephen Lloyd, 84th member of the Genius Society, is "how to slack off at work without being noticed". He finds this investigation particularly relevant to his current living situation in his foster father’s fruit shop.

Many of his inventions fit beneath the umbrella of this wider research problem. For example, he crafted gloves that could capture specific frequencies of sound and light so he could study stringed instruments behind the frequency fence surreptitiously—in other words, without being noticed by his foster father and scolded for loafing around.

This new frequency capture technology is more than groundbreaking; within the current paradigm of Aiden’s nine-word formula theory of the universe, it is quite simply inexplicable. Such an outstanding invention could change the course of science...but Stephen isn’t interested in anything so grand. He has no intention of introducing his new technology to the public. After all, it’s just a toy—just a means for whiling away the dull hours at the fruit shop.

“Stephen, I don’t know what you’re up to, but you’re clearly slacking off again, aren’t you?”

Brilliant as Stephen Lloyd is, to his foster father, he was a child like any other—fanciful, imaginative, full of daydreams and fantasies and prone to goofing off.

Genius's Metafield Suit

A suit that becomes skin-tight when activated. It transmits neural and electrical impulses from the body to the metafield in real time.

The metafield space created by Sserkal, 29th member of the Genius Society, transcended several dimensions beyond our usual existence, let alone meager differences in biology. With the help of this suit, any living creature’s neural signals could synchronize with the consciousness network.

For those unable to physically travel between worlds, this collective dream domain granted them a chance to connect with others beyond their own homes. Here, in the metafield, peace and cooperation were possible on a scale that was inconceivable in the material world.

Within this virtual realm, a host of creatures from across the universe created countless cultural wonders and quietly built the framework for a new order of compassionate understanding. But just when this virtual Eden was on the cusp of replacing reality for its inhabitants, Sserkal, the Net Weaver of All Creation, cut off all connections to the consciousness network. As if it had been nothing but a long-winded joke from the start, as if it had held nothing at all worth preserving, the entirety of the metafield went dark and silent.

“All those investors yammering about ‘metafield space this, metafield space that’, they’re going out of the minds now. Absolutely monumental, the capital they poured into it, but now—poof—no more metafield. Madness, the whole thing is madness. Worse than madness, even—we might be talking conspiracy.”

People are prone to wild thoughts when a great prize slips their grasp. Perhaps the metafield wasn’t such a benevolent place after all. Might it have been a secret petri dish, designed to use all the data it collected to culture new and unregulated sentience? Might all its citizens, and all their works and wonders, been tended as the unknowing crop for a terrible harvest, for a callous and unethical sampling of souls?

Genius's Gravity Walker

Wearable gravity-capture devices, similar in appearance to ice skates. They reflect the twinkling stars during their meteoric gliding.

The notorious Dr. Primitive, member 64, spent his life committing great crimes and fleeing interstellar pursuit.

Dr. Primitive seemed to enjoy the thrill of the chase. He always kept his hunters at a carefully managed distance: never close enough to risk capture nor far enough behind that they would lose him.

His escapes utilized some kind of gravity-capture technology that allowed him to move uninhibited across vast distances of space. Astrophysicists from the Intelligentsia Guild could not puzzle out the principles underlying his technique; they could only assume that it had something to do with the gravitational potential difference between stars. His pursuers were confined by the usual limitations of gravity, so they struggled to keep pace. Nonetheless, they swore that he would be brought to justice, and continued after him.

“Seeing somebody spacewalking like that should’ve been the sight of my life,” a Galaxy Ranger once said of that hopeless chase. “A shame that ‘someone’ had to be Doctor fucking Primitive.”

The Galaxy Ranger quoted refuses to believe in Dr. Primitive’s presumptive death, and continues the hunt despite the quarry’s disappearance.

February 5: Some Writing Thoughts

Writing my Hey Sweetheart fic (on both Saturday AND Sunday) has been easier so far than I worried it would be and I like how it's turning out. I thought that turning these vague daydreams into concrete words on page would be awkward and that I'd get really caught up in trying to match tone of voice and characterization, etc. But so far it's been pretty smooth, actually!

I still have way more ideas than I would ever write, and I haven't really been developing them as, like, actual story concepts. Just little fantasies, which I unspool in my head and don't think too much about. I have started to collect them in a separate list though, just in case. I'm not sure what I'll do with it. Ignore it because it gives me anxiety because it looks like a to do list? Maybe.

Plus I really don't think my characterization is the greatest, like the most diverse, and I'm trying to sort of...not be worried about that, just keep it very light and fun for me.

This isn't me giving up on my other WIPs or the big list or anything. I'm not sure what it is. I've been relying less on lists and more on actually doing stuff this year, in general, which I think is a sign of my slowly improving mental health. With writing, too, I've been just doing: I finished the Time Loop draft, now I'm moving on to Hey Sweetheart... it's still my intention to move to my old Jonty fic next although... who knows, because I think that might be a slog in a way. One might ask why I'm doing slogs, which is a good question, but I think it's that I am still interested in these older ideas, or at least, interested enough. I don't know. It's all hypothetical for a little bit longer and, critically, I do have my drawer fic, which has now topped 10k. I'm at a bit of an awkward spot (and when you're writing for yourself and it's awkward, you know it's really awkward!) but I'm glad I have this big chunk of text to re-read and enjoy.

It’s been a while since I last saw or even thought of DHMIS, but watching this video really did make everything about what its secret narrative was possibly supposed to be make a lot more sense. Far more than the “Media brainwashing children/Big Corporations stilfing creative freedom” theories that this video takes its time debunking.

Like many others who watched this video, I think he only failed on sticking the landing for what that final scene was meant to convey. Given the nature of the beast, it’s totally unlikely that the intent was a “in order to grow the fuck up and be a true adult, you must stop enjoying things meant for children!” message like out of Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna - I’m pretty sure it was going for a more dream-like/nightmarish and surreally depicted “put away childish things when it’s time to do so and accept having to grow up rather than retreating from it into your own fantasies” a la The Nutcracker Prince. The final scene was meant to convey that Red Guy finally stopped being stuck on his childhood and its end on that one June 19, grew up and accepted the march of time and having to live like a responsible grown-up, but still makes time in his life for imagination, creativity, and enjoying childish things in a healthy way (and dare I say ‘normal’ way like we adults all should follow, dammit!)

Also, my personal interpretation is that Yellow Guy and Duck Guy are not merely “imagninary friends”, but are Red Guy’s own old friends manifested in his dreams as they were in his childhood. Red Guy is shown as the adult he is now, Duck Guy is shown as the older adult that Red Guy remembers him as, and Yellow Guy is shown as his child self that Red Guy used to play with. I believe there was trauma in these three friends’ shared past where Duck Guy ended up dying a horrible death (represented in Episode 5), Red Guy had to face reality, grow up, and get a job (represented in Episodes 4 to 6, and is the crux of the whole narrative in how he’s daydreaming about his and his friends’ childhood fantasies in the form of an educational TV program as means of fighting against this reality), and Yellow Guy, who is now the present day “Roy” (another “fear of growing up” theme right there - becoming your own father), is notably less stable than Red Guy due to some accident (be it falling off a horse, drowning in oil, whatever) but, unlike Red Guy, actually accepts the reality of his adult life for what it is and is waiting for Red Guy to do the same, and is thus cast as his dad and a villainous figure of dread and horror in Red Guy’s dream world. Meaning that the true present day story of the series is this: Red Guy has daydreams while on the job but then wakes up to the reality that had kept intruding, is ridiculed and rejected when he performs with puppets at the night club he, his coworkers, and Roy are at, and then afterwards he and Roy have a talk where Roy tells him he can’t keep retreating from his adult life like this, and eventually Red Guy agrees with him and learns to let go and move on in the right way, which is metaphorically symbolized by the dream world TV show’s control machine and how Red Guy pulls its plug since all Red Guy does with the machine just makes things in the dream world worse and is driving the younger Roy insane. The following final scene is also a metaphor meant to symbolize Red Guy’s new, more balanced state of mind afterwards.

(This also matches the interpretation of “Roy as the final teacher.” All prior lessons - thinking creatively, managing time, finding love, working with technology, eating healthy, and having dreams (in more than one way) - were all lessons that can apply to common pains of adulthood, so then the true final and most valuable lesson of all, the big one that Red Guy most needed to learn, came from Roy.)
