Summary: General Vanrouge watches a couple dance.
Tumblr media
Laughter reached his ears from where he sat.
Joyous and carefree.
From his position, he can see the shadows twirling around each other in what seemed to be a kitchen.
He watched as someone, who had a similar appearance to his own, lifted another up before swinging them into his arms.
Normally, he wouldn’t believe such a being would be related to him in any way.
But magic did not lie, and the one from this fae matched his own.
A shiver ran down his spine.
Sharp magenta met crimson red.
A warning.
Do not ruin this moment.
He wasn’t planning to.
This view before him, spoke of peace and tranquility.
He…didn’t want his hands full of scars and blood to mar such a scene.
He looked away as the two before him kissed.
A nap right now seems like the perfect opportunity.
…but a part of him yearned.
Tumblr media
“I was wondering when you would pop up.”
Crimson eyes met his own.
Stubborn. Young. Rebellious.
Someone who didn’t know what life held for him.
Lilia kind of pitied his younger self, but knew saying such might lead to an altercation.
Which generally he wouldn’t mind at all, it would be amusing to compare his strengths now to back then.
But he didn’t want the risk of waking you and the others up. He already had to talk down Malleus from accompanying him.
“You’re with a…human.”
Lilia held back a laugh, “That’s for you to find out.”
The General before him bristled but sighing. It seems he knew it was a losing battle to try and get any information out of him.
“Listen up you!”
The sharp glare sent his way had him smirking.
“Never let this moment go. What you see now? This is the future you can look forward to. Come what may, hold on and do not let go.”
“How do I know this isn’t a trick?”
“Come General~ You and I both know magic never lies.”
The General looked away. How amusing. He was pouting. Lilia itched to tease him more.
“Are…you happy?”
Ah. The question he always held in and never spoke nor shown back during his days as the Phantom General.
“Yes. More than you can imagine.”
Lilia can see the yearning his younger self held deep within as he looked towards where his family stayed.
You’ll know happiness. You’ll experience it yourself. It will take years of pain and suffering, but it will be worth it.
“You have much to look forward to.”
General Vanrouge straightened his stance, a new shine in his eyes.
Good. It will serve him well in his journey.
“I didn’t know I would become so sappy.”
“Kufufu~ That’s what love does to a fae. It changes you.”
The face the General made had him almost bending over in laughter.
Ah yes, he remembers this phase of his. The General has so much to learn…to aknowledge. Some of which even he didn’t learn until many years ago.
During a certain event at Night Raven College, but he wasn’t going to tell him that.
Seeing his past self, Lilia ached to go back to his family. Back to their warmth.
For now though, he waited with a version of himself he hasn’t seen in a long while. One, that he would once upon a time run away from.
But now?
He had long ago acknowledged this side of himself, for it was this version of himself that led him to his current happiness. That led him to his loves.
And he couldn’t be more grateful.
The past and future stood side by side, basking in this tranquility, enjoying what will come and what currently is.
Tumblr media
Bonus:
“Why do you look like that.”
“Hey! I look cute!”
Tumblr media
I felt so soft and in love when writing this 🥹🥹🥰

The fairest of them all
The great seven raise you part 1
Part 2
(oh boy, you poor dear!)
You are, in this au, an abandoned baby, found in a dilapidated cottage on the edge of some woods in ( your country ), the adorable one year old that is you is found by none other than a very confused and freshly resurrected Evil queen.
Grimhilde was certain she died long ago, but the wild grass prickling her legs made her think otherwise, soon she heard a sobbing infants cry on the wind, curious and a little concerned she followed the sound to a dirty little hovel on the edge of the woods, gasping she gently scoops you up to calm you, who seemed to be crying for hours. In your fist she found a crumpled note,
She is yours, great one, guide , protect and cherish our gift, this is the flower we have been waiting for and with time the rest of the great ones will join you in raising the most precious flower of magik.
By the time Grimhilde finished reading you had fallen asleep, exhausted. Cringing, the fair queen moves to clean your snot covered, swollen face. making her way into the cottage she gasps, surprised to see the interior of a palace of sorts, unbeknownst to her there are exactly eight rooms soon to be filled in the years to come with laughter, tears and more than a few explosion. ( Good luck my flower)

Malleus attempted to teach his and Isabelles children stranger danger
Malleus: What do you say if a stranger walks up to you and says "I am a friend of your father's, I'm here to fetch you."?
Malice: Call them a liar because you don't have any friends.
Malleus: I have friends.
Marcia: Yeah, Mali. Daddy has tio Silver and tio Sebek.
Malleus: Yes, see?
Malice: They don't count. They're our uncles. I don't count Marci or Mason as my friends.
Malleus: That is not a nice thing to say about your brother and sister, Malice.
Marcia: No, she's right, I wouldn't either.
Malleus: 🥲

Hey hi hello!!! I hope you're having a nice day today! If it's not a bother, I'll be leaving a request for your bully!au. Maybe with a reader who's a hot head? Like, the moment they start acting up, readers already in their face asking questions like "why the fuck are you being such a dick?" Normally, reader could conceal this if it was the normal twst, but the moment the twst guys start slipping, reader is already confronting them on why they are being such assholes. You know how narancia from jjba acts like when he's stressed or mad? Yeah exactly like that! Pulling out the knife out too. Reader doesn't care about their reputation, so they wouldn't care less if they were threatened by that. I love your writing too!!! I always look forward to it when I open Tumblr. Thank you for reading, and have a nice day!!
This is not gonna end well…BUT THANK YOU BEST COMPLIMENT OF THE BLOG!!! <333
Buncha rambles, dunno where this was gonna lead so sorry if this isn’t what you wanted 😅
tw. yandere, bully!characters, mentions of stabbing/murder, manipulative!reader for the win 🏆
Tumblr media
No one is gonna side with you. The bystanders do absolutely nothing till this point, reputation is very important and they don’t want it being dirty with yours (lmao ironic). Besides people like Lilia, Malleus, and Jade—they find your “hot-headed” personality attractive.
You’ll get picked on more yes, these students are much stronger than you by far, but you wouldn’t go down without them having a piece of your mind. Calling out on their schemes will make some embarrass— Cater, Ace, Epel. Others will be more aggressive or try to turn the situation around and blame you for overreacting.
Pulling a stunt as trying to knife one of them? May be successful if I’m honest. Depends on who you choose to do so, you won’t be alone in a group of two, they’ll always be another watching or tagging along. They’ll keep in mind to not let you be near any sharp or heavy objects, you clearly can’t handle being by yourself.
I can see a hot-headed reader making it far for themselves and not fall too deep into the victim pit. Standing up for yourself is already hard enough, you’re going against people who are training to become said mages. But at the end of the day everyone is still human no matter how cruel they are. They aren’t bullet proof nor emotionless. Get them to hurt, physically or mentally, with their guard down you can successfully have them under your thumb.
Reader who butts in first and steps up, show some respect around here. This will help you gain sympathy from bystanders and a little chance for them to befriend. That’s where Jack comes in. You’ve shown him you were worthy of helping and not just some runt who lets people walk all over them. This won’t be enough to overthrow any housewarden or powerful mage, but it’ll do.
People are not gonna enjoy your pushy and rude attitude for long, the pros and cons don’t weigh as equally. Especially when the cons lead to death.
“Oh but why don’t they get in trouble?”
Because they know how to clean up a scene and fast. Also who would believe you, a strange person who came out of the coffin when you weren’t supposed to be there. No one trusts you and won’t take your side, and since this is a bully!AU people tend to look the other way if murder is convicted. You aren’t all that important with little to no background, the perfect victim to get rid of.
And Idia gets rid of the evidence if there’s any camera involved.
You can’t just go around and stab people at random, let alone pick a fight. What you need is strategy. Be more self aware and focused, as difficult it is to talk to a brick wall, it’ll crumble if you stay long enough to experience it’s downfall. For those interested in knowing who can actually lose to a let’s say…neutral reader (fairly strong enough and a good amount of willpower), my take is on Riddle, Deuce, Ace, Azul, Jack, Epel, Rook, Vil, Idia, Malleus, and surprisingly last Sebek.
Should’ve switched the surprisingly for Rook because wow. Show them who’s boss babe, besides your cowardly counter part they are doomed if you’re more dominant. Not in a weird way lol, take the wheel of your life outta their greasy hands!

「 ✦ 𝕄𝕒𝕝𝕝𝕖𝕦𝕤 𝕒𝕤 𝕒 𝕓𝕠𝕪𝕗𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕟𝕕 𝕡𝕒𝕣𝕥 𝟚✦ 」
𝓦𝓱𝓮𝓷 𝓱𝓮’𝓼 𝓲𝓷 𝓪 𝓫𝓪𝓭 𝓶𝓸𝓸𝓭:
You can usually tell when Malleus is in a bad mood because, well, you can’t see the sun, or moon, or anything aside from dark clouds and streaks of lightning. So, when that happens, you normally try to get to him as soon as possible. He’s been through a lot; so, you feel like you should return the favour.
You always hear what he has to say and give him your opinion, an honest one always, he doesn’t want to hear any more lies to make him feel better, just the truth, and when you comfort him, you always speak your mind. On that topic, you always make sure to look straight into his eyes when you comfort him, caressing his hands or his cheek gently so he can feel that someone is there with him. So that he knows that you’re not a figment of his imagination, a piece of a dream, created by his desire to be held.
𝓖𝓮𝓽𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓸 𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀 𝔂𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓯𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓭𝓼:
Malleus is not the most sociable person around, mostly because people usually find him intimidating or straight up terrifying; which drives you to introduce him to your friends.
He’s obviously curious about them for numerous reasons; first of all, they have known you for years, so they’ll probably be able to help him choose presents for you, know what makes you upset, happy… Second of all, you look very happy around them, for him, it’s like you’re a sun irradiating joy (his hear melts when he sees you smile so carelessly around them, stress lines completely erased from your face).
And lastly, because they come from your world and know their way around modern technology; he asks them for help when he doesn’t want to bother you with his questions and inquiries (you seem too busy helping the Heartsabyul duo to explain how does this “Blue tooth” functions. Is it a spell to brush one’s teeth? To colour them blue? Who would like to have their teeth painted blue? And why does it seem to be in his telephone? Where does that small gadget has its mouth?)
𝓙𝓮𝓪𝓵𝓸𝓾𝓼𝔂/𝓹𝓻𝓸𝓽𝓮𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓿𝓮𝓷𝓮𝓼𝓼:
Alrighty… Our lover boy here might be a bit overprotective. I wouldn’t say that he gets jealous often, but sometimes he treats you as if you were made from glass, which can feel a patronizing. It’s not like you don’t appreciate him taking care of you, but it can be a bit too much; so, you’ll have to tell him to back off a little when you see that he’s overreacting; like when he decided to just send everyone into a 1000 year long nap because he thought that way everyone would be happy and out of harm's way, but let's not talk about that :)
𝓒𝓸𝓶𝓶𝓾𝓷𝓲𝓬𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷:
Malleus tries really hard to use his (newly acquired!) phone to contact you, but he hasn’t gotten quite used to it, he finds texting a tedious task and therefore prefers calling you or sending you letters in which he asks you about your day, Grim, your friends…
You, on turn, ask him how Lilia is doing, how is Silver and Sebek’s training progressing whether he saw and gargoyles the previous night; and now you have more than a hundred letters sitting on your bedside table.
They are filled with poems, dried flowers and thousands of very detailed sketches of grotesque stone creatures filled with explanations on their whereabouts, the kind of rock that was used to sculpt them, and curious details (see how the fangs of this magnificent creature are rounded and have almost disappeared? This means that this one is quite old, and thus shows signs of age and use. Don’t you think it’s wonderful? The many things these beings have witnessed, the time and care someone put into them?).

The Legacy of the Shroud and Draconia Families: The Prodigy and the Miracle
I haven't posted anything in ages, but in the span of a day, I have caught up to everything happening in TWST. All I could say is -
Wow.
Should I miss or incorrectly put the lore, feel free to correct me.
Warning: Spoilers, long post, language, and crude humour.
Without further ado, let's get into the post. All credits belong to their owners.
+++
The Shroud clan
Tumblr media
The Shrouds have been in existence for a really long time. Their ancestor was "appointed a Gatekeeper back in the age of gods and goddesses." Let's assume that was thousands of years ago. Due to this task of essentially keeping the balance in TWST World, Tartarus was built, and henceforth S.T.Y.X was 'formed' about 100 years ago.
Due to their long history, the Shrouds are rich, rivaling the Al-Asims in terms of wealth. According to Vil, they are a branch of Jupiter Enterprises. An influential conglomerate that essentially built Google Chrome, or maybe Facebook, and Amazon of TWST.
The Shrouds reside on the Island of Woe. It is not on any map, therefore it is completely hidden from the public due to the fact it is literally built under the sea.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the secret organization, Lillia said that a legend goes like this, "When a wizard forgets themselves and succumbs to their own power, punishment from the Island of Woe shall befall them."
The Shrouds are tasked with such a heavy job that about a hundred years ago, they were cursed, preventing them from escaping their duties. This curse manifested in their flaming blue hair, burning off accumulated blot. But if there's no blot to burn, the curse instead eats their magical energy. That's why the Shrouds, especially Idia having inherited the curse from his father, must now be in constant close state of OB to survive.
Idia's grandmother, Aidne/Idone Shroud, is known to have this curse. Both her and her son, Mr. Shroud are using magical devices to combat it.
The Shroud Prodigy and Tragedy
Idia is a prodigy. Born a genius in the Island of Woe. As a child his intellect far surpasses the adult researchers at S.T.Y.X. With this impressive show of his potential, his fate is sealed: Idia will become the next head of the Shroud family.
Ortho's life is a tragedy. He was born, and then he died. Then he was reborn again as a humanoid robot that Idia created while in complete isolation for 2 years. Complete with the 'real' Ortho's memories, personality, and appearance.
This is Idia's way of coping with the guilt that consumes him. Blaming himself for his only brother's death.
Why wouldn't Mama and Papa Shroud do something about this?
I like to think that they did try to console Idia. From the looks of it, they do love their children equally. But they also have to grieve too. They also suffer the same guilt Idia feels because suddenly the portal that they're supposed to monitor as the Director and Chief Engineer of S.T.Y.X breaks open, resulting in the death of their younger son. [But I think Idia's unique magic has something to do with the incident.]
It is important to note that Mama and Papa Shroud treat 'Ortho' as their real child, not a replacement of their dead son. With the events ending in Ignihyde chapter, Ortho is on his way to becoming his own person.
Combining his brother's 'death', the responsibility of running S.T.Y.X in the future, the constant state of near OB just to stay alive, and the isolation made Idia the genius, foul-mouthed, introvert prodigy dorm leader of Ignihyde.
As of Diasomnia chapter, Papa and Mama Shroud, the Director and Chief Engineer of S.T.Y.X respectively, are trying to get in touch, or are now in touch, with Queen Maleficia, Malleus' grandmother.
The Draconia family
Tumblr media
The Draconias are nocturnal fae, tracing back their long lineage to dragons. They all possibly have horns protruding from their heads. Their lifespans can go on for centuries. A Draconia will reach adulthood at the age of 1,000 years old. That lifespan is longer than the kind of fae like Lilia.
Simplified:
If Malleus reach 1,000 years old, he'll be only known as an adult Draconia, but for Lilia, 1,000 years is his whole lifespan.
In the current events of TWST, we only know 3 Draconias so far.
Queen Maleficia, Princess Mallenoire/Malenoa, and the only known male heir, Malleus.
Not much is known about them, except the current queen (has been for a long time) is Queen Malefecia, the grandmother. She adopted Lilia and Levan, the father of Malleus and Princess Malenoa's husband. The royalty in Briary Valley is complete with senators, dukes, royal guards, and is just basically a monarchy of faes.
The Draconias, and most fae creatures, reside in Briar Valley. There are forests that are pitch black, giving an advantage to nocturnal faes, like Lilia. It is also rich in magical minerals.
Tumblr media
In Diasomnia chapter, Malleus put up a barrier of thorns that is going around or extending throughout Sage Island, essentially marking it as his domain, and everyone in this domain will remain asleep, dreaming. It is worth noting that Malleus is said to be one of the top strongest mages, as evidenced by this:
"S.T.Y.X. together with the Magical Force, and the Briar Valley’s royal family attempted to break into Malleus Draconia’s domain, but… "
"Neither physical nor magical attacks could make a dent."
"The thorns do not discriminate between humans and fae, and anyone attempting to enter just get sucked into the field."
Because he's a fae, he gets energy from his surroundings. Therefore if Malleus' keeps extending his barrier, he will get stronger. Heed that not even Queen Maleficia can get through the barrier her grandson had created. With this scenario, it effectively puts Malleus, a little bit stronger than her.
The Draconia Miracle
I contemplated saying the Draconian Miracle but either way is fine.
If we are to consider Malleus as a miracle manifest in itself, let's first look at the way he was born.
The prelude of Malleus' birth is chaos.
During or even before he emerged from his shell, Briar Valley is going through a fae-human war. Starting when the humans started populating and abusing the place. Note that their population started with only a small sailing ship, and throughout the years they multiplied.
Tumblr media
Princess Mallenoire/Malenoa/Mallenoa is the mother of Malleus, and she, by far is the strongest defense of the land, as said by Lillia.
But before Malleus can even crack the shell, his mother is already gone. Going by the angst route, let's assume she died protecting her egg that houses her son.
Makes you wonder how brutal the fight must be to 'kill' a mother dragon protecting her only child.
Levan/Revern, a raven fae or a dragon duke in some sources, is his father. He is a diplomat of Briar Valley, therefore his task falls into making allies, not enemies.
Yet, he did not return.
It is presumed that he died in an ambush, or possibly has a new identity. If he is alive it is cruel for him to not come back to his unhatched son. I am not saying Crowley is Malleus' father but there's a chance that Crowley is related to the Draconias, in one way or another.
Now, why is Malleus considered a miracle?
Because he was born against all odds. His birth is a highly impossible event, yet it did happen.
Due to his parents' absence, this effectively made the hatching of Malleus uncertain. Dragon eggs can hatch within 2-3 years of laying if showered with love and cared for.
[ This part is taken from the accounts of Lilia's dream in the Diasomnia chapter, where Silver is also surprised by the huge gap of the war and the dragon heir's birth.]
Malleus' birth is delayed by 200 years, because he has no one to care for him. It is truly pitiful that even before his birth, Malleus is abandoned.
Why wouldn't Queen Maleficia love her unhatched grandson? Is her love and power not enough to hatch Malleus?
I bet she did, but she also has grieve the death of her only child. On top of that, she has to be strong because she's a queen of a country. Any sign of weakness can mean the humans threatening her or even one of the faes betraying them, putting her family and the nation in danger.
The thought of the Draconia bloodline ending with her likely filled her with depression. Also, Queen Maleficia is not Malleus birth mother, only his grandmother. So that is not enough for a dragon egg to hatch, since it needed the love from his birth parents. I like to think that this part is where Lilia, as his caretaker will come in. Lilia's loyalty to Draconias extended to Malleus, softening the heart of the war-torn general, enough that he had the sympathy to adopt a human child.
It took 200 long years for Malleus to emerge from his egg shell and when he did, Briar Valley celebrated his birth. Matter of fact, his birthday is a public holiday.
Defying the odds is another powerful instance why Malleus is born to be a king faes, the valley and the abyss.
The parallels between Idia (the prodigy) and Malleus (the miracle)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Is it me or they both look good?!]
Both Malleus and Idia grew up in isolation.
Literally.
[Island of Woe and Briary Valley are two places in the middle of seven-knows-what. Anyway...!]
With Malleus as the only heir, and Idia as the first born, they both have huge responsibilities on their shoulders. We're talking about responsibilities scaling nations and the safety of huge populations.
Idia's childhood is tragic with the death of his brother. But we can argue that Malleus' childhood is tragic too, with the disappearance of his parents.
Malleus grew up isolated and protected in the castle. His only confidant for decades is Lilia, his caretaker. And even then, Malleus said that Lilia is prone to going away for long periods of time.
For Idia, his only companion for the 2 years he locked himself in his room is the prototype of Ortho that he's building.
Idia represents the uncanny future, and Malleus represents the eerie past.
Think of it this way, if you put Malleus in Island of Woe where everything is about technology, I bet he will say something about the importanc of the past and teleport back to his place.
If you put Idia in Briar Valley... man's not even going to survive the night. He will lament his poor WiFi connection.
They compliment each other well: One doesn't want to be approached and the other is unapproachable.
Both Idia and Malleus are some of the loneliest students in NRC. Idia doesn't have social cues, and Malleus... doesn't have good social cues either.
They're both so awkward when interacting with others it becomes endearing.
As awkward as they are, both are arrogant too. Every time Idia regards himself as the acting leader of S.T.Y.X and Malleus as the future king, sends a thrill or.pride to whoever can hear them. [Go forth children! Be the leaders of the TWST world.]
And they will be leaders. As heavy as the mantle of Shroud and Draconia is, Idia and Malleus will have no choose but to shoulder on. That's why I think the battle between (yuu), Idia along with NRC against Malleus will be tragically beautiful.
+++
Fun fact: Hades tried to ask Maleficent out in a date once, lol.
Tumblr media
+++
There's a reason why all of a sudden the story of TWST started to become more serious in the Ignihyde chapter and just hit the fan in Diasomnia. Soon, were about to find out why.
Idia and Malleus are the complete opposite yet their existence compliments each other so well.
One is a keeper of the underworld, and the other the blessing of maleficence.
And then there's Yuu, trying to uncover the secrets of Twisted Wonderland.

Idk how unpopular this opinion might be, but am I the only one who thinks both Leona and Jamil's plans on their respective books were stupid and pointless??
Like Leona refuses Malleus' retirement from Magical Shift, but then tries to incapacitate him and his team? So why didn't he just let him retire in the first place?? What was the point in refusing then?
And then Jamil tries to get Kalim expelled? Honestly, did he really think that Kalim's parents wouldn't force him to leave as well so he could keep up his work as his servant? What makes him think they'll allow him to stay if Kalim gets sent back? In general I disagree with Jamil's angle for his plan, but this part in particular just doesn't make sense to me
In conclusion, I'm not outright saying this is bad writing (it could be, idk), but my in-universe explanation is that, since overblots happen due to a poor mental health state, this translated for Leona and Jamil, characters who are depicted as smart and with great critical-thinking abilities, into poor decision-making and an incapacity to look at the bigger picture. These two characters who have unhealthy coping mechanisms to avoid their problems and emotions suddenly get too emotional and are unable to think straight

This line always hurts. Any line that implies Lilia has difficulty finding people, items, etc. always hurts when you think about his history.
He had trouble and never found Levan.
He constantly looks for clues and people to try and find a way for Malleus to hatch.
Silver ran off and he was scared of not being able to find him.
So you can tell the 200+ years of searching really took a toll of him
He desperately looked within himself if he had the ability to love as so many believed.
But he found his answer, didn’t he?
He was able to hatch Malleus, he was able to find Silver in the rain, and most important of all, he was able to love.
He was able to find all this and hasn’t realized or accepted it which is sad.
And I think once his sons tell him how much they love him, he’ll finally accept that everything he has always looked for has been right in front of him all this time.
His family.
His loves.

I’m curious - how do you see the dynamic between Malleus and Lilia? Like, how do you think they feel about each other?
hello anon!! i'm actually very excited to answer this question, so thank you for sending it in!
i know many people interpret diasomnia as a family. i do too! but i don't ascribe to the notion that lilia is the dad, and the other three are his sons. i like complicated relationship dynamics, and while i understand the appeal of having lilia as the father taking care of his three varying children, i just don't gel with it too much ;; the only true familial relationship in diasomnia, to me, is lilia and silver; lilia's relationships with the others are different.
(getting a little long so i'll put the rest under the cut)
regarding malleus and lilia's dynamic, i view them more like a guardian (lilia) and his ward (malleus), as opposed to father and son. the relationship between them seems less familial and affectionate than it is with silver and lilia — and going into chapter 7 spoilers here, we can see in silver's flashbacks just how loving lilia is of silver. they are, undoubtedly, father and son.
but with malleus, there always seems to be a distance between him and lilia. malleus has always been above lilia in status, even before he hatched. and that makes for quite the interesting dynamic, wherein lilia raised malleus even before he hatched, with chapter 7 implying that it took lilia's love over a few centuries to finally hatch malleus. but that very hierarchy of class, with malleus as prince and lilia beneath him, means that while lilia may have taken care of malleus all his life, he could never stand on the same level as him as an equal. and that, in my head, translates to the relationship of a guardian and ward: lilia has taken the responsibility of raising malleus and caring for him, but there is little room for the open affection and familiarity that flooded lilia's own upbringing of silver.
that being said, i learnt a while back of a possible interpretation wherein malleus feels a one-sided father-son bond with lilia. and i really adore that! because for malleus, the difference in their status may not be as evident to him; he may only ever have known lilia as the one who took care of him, who was there for him since he first came into the world. it also means he would feel quite envious of the free and easy father-son bond lilia and silver have, since it's something he never got to experience for himself. but i doubt that they'll ever be able to reconcile this, given that lilia feels a very different way than malleus does. it's not that lilia doesn't care for malleus, but i just don't think it reaches that same level of familial affection that he has for silver.
again, thanks for letting me ramble about my thoughts! :D

SSR Malleus Draconia - Platinum Jacket Voice Lines
Tumblr media
When Summoned: This was quite the special invitation. Let us celebrate this auspicious 100th year together.
Summon Line: Just as the rumors have said, this truly is a vast museum. I am elated that I have this opportunity to walk these halls.
Groooovy!!: Do take care not to act discourteously while paying your respects. That is, if you do not wish to incur any unwanted curses.
Home: My blessings on 100 years of history.
Home Idle 1: I hear the Asim household has enough paintings to rivals this museum. I do hope to receive an invitation someday.
Home Idle 2: It seems that Rosehearts has memorized a plethora of anecdotes so as to be able to respond to any question. How very enthusiastic of him.
Home Idle 3: It is said that the subordinates of the Thorn Fairy were unwaveringly loyal. Seems as though they all held her in high regard. We are quite similar in that regard.
Home Idle - Login: Allow me to show you around the museum. I have an affinity for art appreciation. You'll be in good hands.
Home Idle - Groovy: Spade seems to have a very straightforward personality. He spoke his mind without any hesitation... Fufu, that was quite the pleasant encounter.
Home Tap 1: That's some furrow in your brow. Each person will glean different impressions from the same painting. There's no need to figure out a correct interpretation.
Home Tap 2: The King of Beasts would turn to his chamberlain for a song to soothe his woes, I see. That chamberlain's singing must have been superb.
Home Tap 3: While I was gazing upon a painting of the Fairest Queen, Hunt began to recount her stories and his opinions on them in rapid-fire succession. His intensity was quite something...
Home Tap 4: The painting depicting the Thorn Fairy's castle is spectacular. It is quite a useful reference for the style of gargoyles of that time period.
Home Tap 5: I cannot say I'm accustomed to this silvery-white color, or your human formal attire, but... From what I gather of your reaction, it does not seem like it is ill-suited.
Home Tap - Groovy: Have you found a work of art you like? Your eyes are glittering just like a child's.
Duo: [MALLEUS]: Follow me, Spade. [DEUCE]: This will be a good experience, Draconia-senpai!
Birthday Login Message: So, you've come to wish me a happy birthday. You certainly know no fear, it seems. Most people are too frightened to even say one word to me... If the people of Briar Valley were to see this, they would be quite taken aback. Heh, I don't mean it as a rebuke in anyway. I only am reminded once again about what a strange human you are.

I was up all night thinking about how dragons work in twst when I know damn well they’ll never go into it </3
Me: Malleus has mentioned his mouth being warm from breathing fire. I wonder if his body temp is higher than the average human. It’d make sense to assume he keeps his horns out on his humanoid form for thermoregulation. 🤓
Twst: The horns make the new character look like the old character ☺️

Summary: Finn's first Halloween on land is turned upside down by the unexpected appearance of the ghosts of his siblings
This like 4k+ words, the octotrio may be sightly ooc

(Pls reblog and leave a comment ❤)
A Ghostly Halloween
Pain. The feeling of sharp stinging pain in his stomach caused Finn to slowly open his eyes and blink.
Finn? Who was that? That couldn't be his name. There were no names here in this warm dim hollow. A small cramped place tinted with dark red.
A harsh pang came again and Finn doubled over, pressing his hand the fleshy wall of his cavern.
A sudden muffled noise, one that sounded like a delighted coo, made him pull away in fright and curl into a ball with a whine.
The pain would not go away. It clawed at his insides, setting them on fire with an ache that left him squirming and in pain.
His jaw opened and shut rhymically, trying to clamp around nothing.
He pushed away from his little nook and swam forwards blindly, swatting at the space around him until his stubby malformed hand closed around....something.
Something soft and squishy and alive.
Finn squinted as his poor eyes struggled to focus on the small forms floating across from him.
They didn't look like much. See-through, hairless lumps of flesh with huge, black glassy eyes.
Finn stared at the familiar liltle creatures he shared his home with. He had seen them before, during those few times he dared move from his nook.
That stabbing pain, that sense of weakness, came again and every single nerve came alive.
Finn tightened his grip and the thing began to squirm and make whimpering sounds, trying to pull out of his grip.
As if he had done it a million times before, Finn's jaw unhinged and he lunged forward. The squirming came to an instant stop.
The next few minutes of his short life were the most blissful it had ever been, the pain inside of him slowly beginning to fade the more his jaws clamped shut.
As he worked his jaw, distant haunting cries began to fill Finn's ears, slowly growing louder and louder until it pounded at his ear drums and made them hurt.
The cries were mournful, filled with an agony that made him freeze as an icy chill ran up his spine.
Shrieking wails sounded from all sides and the stench of death filled the air.
A large piece of flesh in Finn's mouth became lodged in his throat and he squeezed his eyes shut. He clawing at his throat, whimpering and shaking as he tried to draw in a breath.
Another cry joined the cacophony. A quieter, more strangled one.
Finn looked down to find the lump of flesh in his hands twisting around to look at him, its hard devoured face curling into a mocking pantomime of a crying child.
Amidst the chaos, a shrill voice rasped into his ears
"Why?"
Finn's eyes forced themselves open and he bolted upright with his hands wrapped tightly around his throat.
He sucked in glorious precious oxygen in heavy gasping breaths, swallowing and looking around with bloodshot eyes.
Finn released his grip on his throat and his trembling fingers curled around soft silky bedsheets as he took in his surroundings.
Purples, greys and silvers were lit up in a dim glow from a thin stream of moonlight filtering through the windows. The soft colours of his room was a sharp contrast to the suffocating endless red ensnaring him mere moments ago.
Finn opened and closed his mouth wordlessly and he tried to steady his breathing, coughing and hiccuping despite and the effort.
Finn pulled his knees to his chest, wrapped his arms around his legs and rocked back and forth. The scenario played in his mind over and over like a broke record, making his stomach churn and his mouth go dry.
'A nightmare.' He thought to himself. 'It was just a nightmare. You're in your bed in Octavinelle and you had a nightmare.'
Finally, Finn's breathing began to steady to and those dreadful hiccups ceased. Trembling lips pressed into a thin line and he raised his hand to touch his cheeks.
Wet.
He was crying. Sea Witch, this was pathetic. He, a student at one of the most prestigious magic schools in the world, was crying over a bad dream like a scared pup.
Finn leaned back against the pillows and ran a hand through his damp hair. Sweat clung to his forehead like a limpet. His palms were in no better state.
His foggy, clouded head slowly began to clear and he took a deep breath.
Although the grogginess had lifted, Finn's head was still pounding when he suddenly became incredibly aware of just how alone he was.
Despite being a first year, he had a room to himself. His roommates, every single one, requested transfers after two weeks with him over and over until it was decided he would stay alone.
The room was dead silent, empty and void of any soul besides him.
...No. That wasn't entirely true.
Finn picked up his phone from his side table, the light of the screen lighting up his blotchy tear stained face.
4:30am October 31st
Finn unlocked his phone and went to his contacts, staring blankly at the short list of names before him.
The twins slept until 6 or later, and they had a late night dealing with Halloween preparations. He didn't want to bother them.
Azul got up at 5 every morning no matter how late he stayed up. He wouldn't mind being roused half an hour early.
...Would he?
Finn gazed at Azul's name, his thumb hovering over the call button.
He stifled a sob and turned off his phone.
He got out of bed and looked around nervously, feeling cautiously optimistic when he found the room empty.
Finn took a few deep breaths and looked out the window at the the stretch of ocean outside. Nothing but rippling seaweed and some fish.
"It's fine." He told himself softly. "They're not here. It's not possible for them to be here."
Feeling stressed and overheated, Finn wandered over to his desk and opened the drawer.
From the neatly organised collection of stationary, notebooks and other odds and ends, Finn pulled out two keys. One was small and gold, the other was large, black and purple.
Finn left his room quickly, slinking down the long dark hallways with his eyes fixed to the floor until he came to the doors of the newly constructed Mostro Lounge.
Finn slid the black and purple key into the lock and unlocked the doors, slipping silently into the empty restaurant.
Finn made his way to the large glass wall and took a seat at one of the tables facing it, suddenly feeling boneless and exhausted.
Finn covered his face with his hands and let out a shaky breath as he began to stress again.
"Breathe." He said to himself. "Just breathe."
He exhaled and inhaled slowly and shakily, squeezing his eyes shut.
Eventually, the soft murmuring of the water surrounding Octavinelle and the soothing silence of Mostro Lounge eased his shaking shoulders and ragged breaths.
"Just a dream." Finn reminded himself, opening his eyes and looking around. "Not real. It's far past midnight and they aren't here. They. Aren't. Here."
Finn stared out the glass, watching the gentle billowing of the seaweed and corals a d the small colourful fish darting about.
The waters of Octavinelle were so bright and friendly in comparison to his home.
Finally beginning to feel calm, Finn allowed himself to relax and a giddy feeling washed over him.
They weren't here.
His eyelids slid shut and he knew, stressed and sleep deprived, he was going to fall asleep and miss classes and Halloween prep.
That was fine. He would take the punishment dealt to him if it meant to finally enjoy a moment of real peace.
Finn slumped against his seat and his breathing slowed. Nobody would interrupt him here, not until Azul came to open the lounge this afternoon.
Finally, he was really completely alone.
***
Finn stirred from his death-like slumber some time later, sleepily sitting up on the couch to stretch his cramped limbs with a yawn.
He rubbed his eyes and turned to stare out the window, blinking rapidly to get the sleep out of his eyes.
"Mm..?"
Finn narrowed his eyes at a group of fuzzy unclear silhouettes, wiping his eyes again to get them to adjust. When they did so, his heart nearly stopped.
"No..."
Behind the glass, five pink fleshy blobs vaguely resembling mers floated at eye level, silent and unmoving
The only indicators of their species were their short stubby tails and long awkward arms. Besides that they were more like meat sacks, with no fins, no nose and no gills. Their hands were stubby and malformed, and where their eyes should have been were large pitch black holes.
Their skin, pink as it was, was translucent. Under the pinkish layer lay tiny unbeating hearts protected by frail ribs and surrounded by a whispy malformed skeleton.
Finn's blood went cold and a primal nauseating fear settled into his stomach.
"No... please..."
Keeping his gaze fixed on the silent apparitions, Finn stood up and began to fumble for his phone, backing away from the wall slowly.
He refused to tear his gaze away, even as he struggled to unlock his phone and get to his contacts.
Finn pressed what he hoped beyond all else was a call button and raised his phone to his ear.
To his relief, it began to ring and after a mere minute or so, Azul's voice came through on the other side.
"Is everything alright, Finn?" He asked almost automatically. His soft voice was filled with cautious concern.
"A-Azul." Finn's voice came out raspy and strained. "Azul they're here. Please- the lounge, they- they followed me- staring they won't stop staring-"
He heard Azul take in a sharp breath before speaking again.
"Stay where you are, I'm coming."
The call ended and the room was plunged into heavy silence once more. Finn wished he had asked Azul to stay on the line.
Those huge black voids remained fixed on him, unblinking.
Finn walked sideways to the other end of the glass wall, watching them through his peripheral vision. He blinked, and they were in front of him again.
"Why are you here?" Finn whispered, his voice barely escaping his throat. "What do you want from me? Why can't you just leave me alone?"
There was no response.
Azul's arrival was a blessed interruption. The opening of the door and the familiar sound of his foorsteps nearly caused Finn to cry in relief.
Before Azul could even open his mouth to speak, Finn lunged at him and wrapped his arms around his midriff.
Azul's eyes widened in surprise and he stumbled back slightly at the force of the near tackle. Finn buried his face in his chest, trembling and breathing heavily.
Azul looked around the lounge with a frown. Apart from the two of them, it was completely empty. However, when his gaze landed on the glass wall, a sudden sense of dread settled over him.
He placed a hand on Finn's head and let out a sigh.
"So they followed you after all, then?" He asked softly, his eyes shining with concern.
Finn nodded.
"I thought... I thought they would be afraid to come to the surface." He whispered. "I-I had a nightmare again and came here. I fell asleep but when I woke it they were behind the glass and just... staring at me."
Finn lifted his head to look at Azul. All colour had drained from his face and his voice cracked slightly.
"They never stop staring, they just sit there and look at me. I don't know what they want. What do they want, Azul?"
Azul hesitated for a moment.
"I don't know." He murmured. "But they don't... seem to have any intention of causing you harm."
Finn weakly scoffed in response. "Not physically. They seem keen on tormenting me in both the dream and waking worlds."
"Well..." Azul sucked in a breath through his teeth. "Perhaps you should come to classes today. Maybe being around people will help distract you from it."
"Don't force yourself." He added quickly. "I know you get overstimulated."
Finn made a noise of acknowledgement and released his vice grip on Azul.
"It's alright. I have my headphones and... I suppose being surrounded by loudmouths is better than-" He glanced at the glass. "-looking at them."
He checked his phone and he realised he had only slept for about twenty or thirty minutes. Then he nodded.
"Let's go."
***
Class was surprisingly bearable, despite a few setbacks. Namely, students and teachers alike staring at his deathly pale face, asking unwanted questions and whispering amongst themselves
But he didn't mind, it provided a distraction from the five sets of eyes trained at him at almost all times.
The tiny ghosts stayed in a group nearly all the time, hovering close to each other like a bunch of grapes. Occasionally one or two of them would break off from the rest to another part of the room. They never left the room Finn was in, and always returned after a maximum of half an hour.
No matter where Finn went, they would either float directly above his head or hover nearby. It didn't matter if it was Halloween or not, they would always be there even if he couldn't see them.
Currently, Finn tapped his pen against his notebook and bit back the tears threatening to spill over, wishing he was any other class.
Trein had a near supernatural ability to keep his class dead silent and working efficiently no matter what. Usually Finn appreciated this, but right now it felt like a curse.
Trying to work was impossible. Finn couldn't stop glancing at the three ghosts hovering next to him, staring into his soul.
The other two had wandered off, settling themselves in different parts of the room.
Number four was was staring at Lucius, watching as the cat flattened his ears angrily, much to Trein's confusion.
Number five was hovering over Azul with its head tilted to the side as the octopus took rigorous note of Trein's words.
They did this sometimes. Either one, two or all of them would move away from Finn and float either by his father or his partners for a while. Finn was unsure if this was a threat or some peculiar way of recognising their family.
Azul, hiding the sense of dread caused by the ghosts incredibly well, would occasionally go very still and glance back and Finn with a mix of unease and concern.
Finn simply shrugged his shoulders and looked back at Trein, next to which number four continued to float.
Finn sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.
This was going to be an unbearable day.
***
Clubs were promptly skipped. Finn enjoyed Malleus' company dearly, but the bright shining lights of the classrooms and sunshine along with the skull-piercing uproar of noise caused by talking, shouting, shoes clicking, pens scratching against paper and more all became utterly unbearable by the end of the day.
If he spent any longer like this he would have a panic attack, just like Azul warned.
Malleus was remarkably understanding, though Finn was unsure if it was because he looked like he'd been run over by a truck or because of something to do with the way Malleus kept glancing at the "empty" space above Finn's head.
Either way, Finn was grateful for the prince's kindness and promised to pay him back for it. Now, he had time to do what he needed to do.
Finn wandered across the sizable campus, keeping his eyes away from his ghostly family, until he came to a large glass greenhouse. It looked exactly like the botanical gardens, but smaller and with tinted windows.
Finn fished the small gold key from his pocket and unlocked the door. He stepped into the greenhouse, closing the door behind him and taking off his shoes.
His breath turned to steam in the air and he smiled a little at the comforting chill of the cold.
The greenhouse was cold as ice. Frost would be settling along the walls, cieling and floor if it weren't for the and of magic keeping the structure clear and the plant life lush.
Any other student, yes even his partners, would be shuddering and reaching for a coat. Finn however, welcomed the cold.
It was just like home.
Finn made his way down the winding stone path to a gazebo like structure in the centre of the greenhouse, admiring his surroundings as he went.
Dark green grass grew tall, dotted with various plants and flowers. Every little thing from the tiniest stone to the largest leaf was organised in a beautiful flourishing arrangement.
A large number of small stone circles decorated the grass, and placed on top of them were the many paintings made by his own hands, both the beautiful and serene and the twisted and macabre.
Finn stepped into the gazebo, trailing his fingers along the half completed paintings sitting there, the table laden with painting equipment and the pile of blank canvases stacked in the corner.
He pulled a stool up to an easel and placed a new canvas onto it, taking a seat with a heavy sigh.
He blinked and, almost like they knew the drill, his siblings moved in front of him. Most of them stayed together, but some of them separated to look curiously at the plants and insects taking up the greenhouse.
Number five fixed itself by the mushrooms Jade had started to grow under a large tree. Number four was... lying down... by the flowers, and number two was staring at the pond.
Finn covered his face and took in a shaky breath, trying to hype himself up as he got ready to start a new painting. Painting them was never easy, but he had to do it.
When he opened his eyes again, every single ghost had moved to the tree number five was under, gazing at him silently.
When his brain registered exactly how they were situated, Finn had to cover his mouth and bite back bile.
They were all hovering close to the ground, grass standing out against the paleness of their tiny fat bodies. They had arranged themselves into two rows like they were ready for a family photo, three in the front and two at the back.
Their faces were twisted into what had to be some sort of attempt at a smile, sharp teeth full of gaps jutting out of their jaws.
Finn took a pencil in his hands and closed his eyes to count to ten. When his eyelids lifted, his breath caught in his throat and was unable to hide a gasp.
***
It was 9pm when Azul began to worry.
Between the four of them, he was always the worrier. The other three, much more complacent with unexpected circumstances, often teased him for his overactive imagination.
Azul felt quite justified for his concern at the moment, though. It had very several hours since classes and clubs finished and Finn was nowhere to be found.
He was gone. On Halloween of all the days.
The twins on the other hand, were a lot more relaxed, opting to sit calmly in the VIP room while Azul drummed his fingers against his desk nervously.
"It'll be fine, Zul." Floyd mumbled, pulling his fedora over his face. "He's probably just painting the lil' guys like he always does on Halloween."
"But he never takes this long," Azul insisted. "He told us he works on his pieces for a few hours maximum. I don't want a repeat of last year."
In truth, they hadn't been close with Finn long enough to understand his working patterns apart from what he told them. Finn was new to the relationship, becoming their partner only a few months ago.
This was only their second Halloween together. Their first Halloween with Finn was after their year long boot camp the year before they came to NRC.
The ghosts of what were apparently Finn's siblings became visible to Finn, as they did every Halloween, during their return trip to the Coral Sea. Their sudden appearance while Finn was in open water with few things to distract himself with led to disastrous results.
The reminder of the incident caused Floyd's face to morph into a more concerned expression
"Yeah, I guess that's true..."
"I believe we should be patient," Jade chimed in from his seat opposite Floyd. "Finn can be difficult to predict at times. Give it a few hours and and we'll go to his greenhouse."
There was a bout of silence before Floyd spoke again.
"I still can't believe he managed to get permission to keep his stuff in that place"
"Only because Crowley uses some of his paintings of the school for advertising. With credit and fair payment of course." Azul said with a fond smile. "And because he doesn't want his more... unique paintings easily visible to students. I believe the mere sight of one of them nearly made him faint."
The three of them chuckled at that.
"Alright." Azul relented. "We'll wait. If he doesn't come back we'll go to the greenhouse."
They settled into a comfortable silence again, and the seconds began to slowly tick by.
9:05 no sign of Finn
9:30 no sign of Finn
10:00 no sign of Finn
10:30
10:45
11:00
11:30
11:35
"That's it," Jade finally relented, checking his phone with a furrowed brow. "We need to find him. Now."
The trip out of Octavinelle to the greenhouse was a tense, silent and long one. Luckily they did not have to walk as far as they would have to get to the main building.
The door was locked when they arrived. Jade hummed and tapped his pen against the lock. They waited for a "click" before opening the door.
The freezing cold that settled over them caused gooseflesh to ripple across their skin as glanced around to find their missing partner.
"Oh shit." Floyd hissed, lunging forward in a dead bolt to the the gazebo.
Jade and Azul followed suit, coming to a stop at the top of the gazebo steps to find Floyd kneeling next to Finn with an alarmed expression on his face.
Finn was curled into a tight ball on the floor, covering his face with his hands and rocking back and forth. Sobs wracked his body and he mumbled incoherently at a speed far beyond his usual slow soft pace.
"Finn." Floyd rasped out, grabbing him. "Finn, it's us."
Almost instantly, the mumbling came to a stop and Finn raised his head to look at them with bloodshot eyes and a face as white as a sheet.
"Finn are you alright?" Jade asked softly, crouching in front of the panic stricken shark.
Finn stared at Jade as if he was speaking in an alien tongue before shaking his head wildly.
"No... please..." He whispered, grasping at Jade and Floyd with a force that nearly knocked them over. "Smiling... they won't stop smiling at me. And crying, they keep crying. They sound so afraid... I want to go home..."
It was unclear which home meant, but that didn't stop Floyd from hoisting Finn into his arms and giving a little kiss to his head.
"S'gonna be okay." He murmured. "We're gonna have a sleepover in Azul's room tonight. It'll be fun, yeah? The night will be gone in a jiffy and the lil fellas will be invisible again."
"Tomorrow is in-" Jade checked the time. "Less than ten minutes. Let's get back to the dorm. You'll be alright, Finn."
Finn made a muffled noise of half-hearted agreement, pressing his face into Floyd's chest.
The twins began making the walk to the door, leaving Azul alone in the gazebo.
Azul tilted his head at the paintbrushes and pencils left lying on the floor and packed them back onto the table, stopping suddenly when he caught sight of the incomplete canvas.
He stared at for a moment. His heart jumped to his throat.
"Azul, you coming?"
Floyd's voice pulled Azul from his momentary stupor and he nodded. "Yes yes of course. I apologise, I was distracted."
Azul remained distracted all the way home, staring into empty space while the twins filled the silence with nonsense talk in an attempt to calm Finn down.
Not a single word they said registered in Azul's mind, though. The only thing he could think about was the half finished painting burned into his retinas.
It was quite possibly the least gory or macabre thing regarding the ghosts Finn had ever created. In fact, someone who didn't know any better would call it sweet.
Two boys and three girls, around sixteen years in age, stood close together in two rows under a large tree. Three in the front and two at the back.
They all looked so similar to Finn, especially their eyes. They were all bright pools of amethyst with pupils blown wide.
The boys were wearing Night Raven College uniforms, and the girls wore the uniforms of one of the all girls magic schools on the mainland.
Their smiles were wide grins fill of sharp twisted teeth, stretching unnaturally across their faces.
At the bottom of the canvas , scrawled in handwriting that was not Finn's, were two words.
We wish
