So we know Kamala’s forming the Young Avengers and so far, it’s Kate Bishop, Cassie, Kamala, I hope they get Peter and America too cause the chaos would be comedy gold.
The mentors: Carol, Clint, Stephen, Happy and Scott would have weekly drinking night outs to rant about the kids. And Carol who is basically immortal, started having gray in her temples because Kamala decided it was a good idea to see if she could fly.
She could not.
Imagine the possible convo:
Carol: I still can’t believe she hurled herself from the Avengers Tower.
Clint: My kid shot down a historical bell tower, a christmas tree and nearly got us killed by the tracksuit mafia. And that’s not adding Yelena to the mess. She blames me for not keeping an eye on Kate
Carol: She hates me, threatened to kill me just because I let Kate onto the team. Kamala’s mom already dislikes me for that same reason.
Scott: Oh the black widow lady? She’s really nice. She lent Cassie her widow bites and now Cass modified it into her suit.
Sam: Your kid is the reason why people now fear Ant Man. She used the widow bites to tase people she thought had a high chance of committing a crime.
Clint: And Kate did not help
Happy: At least your kid didn’t invite all the other spider-man villains and the other spider-men into this universe so that he could clear his name and get himself and his friends into college.
Stephen: Don’t remind me. I’ve have enough headaches dealing with America traveling to other universes because she wants to try their food.
Suddenly, their communicators start going off.
Carol: Oh come on!
Stephen sighs heavily, Scott slams his head on the table, Happy downs his drink in one shot and Clint looks like he’s about to die.
Clint: All in favor of grounding them once we get them back from whatever universe they’re in now?
They all nod.
Carol: I say we have an hour at most before Yelena shows up and makes do with her threat
Stephen: You’re a walking infinity stone, why are you so afraid of her?
Carol: Fight her and find out

Also are we every gonna talk about how Sylvie is the only Disney+ character that just…can’t transfer over to the MCU?
All of the new characters were meant for movies. Kate, Kamala, Billy and Tommy, Steven and Marc. They ALL can appear in MCU movies and interact with other characters seamlessly.
Can you seriously imagine Sylvie interacting with other MCU characters? Can you imagine other characters liking her or wanting to converse with her at all? Can you imagine an MCU movie she can appear in without being a sore thumb?
The answers to those questions is ‘No.’ Honesty, I cannot name one currently living MCU character that would want to talk to her, or have sympathy for her at all - especially after learning what she did to Kang. And I can’t imagine her wanting to talk to anybody, or help them either.
Sylvies arc is so self-centered and selfish, her attitude so abrasive and condescending, that I without Loki pining after her, I cannot imagine how they’d fit her into the MCU otherwise.
If she doesn’t die in S2, I have no idea what they plan to do with her.

MADDIEEEEEEEE!!!! Tell me, which fictional character from any fandom do you relate to the most and why?
(Invading your inbox)
HELLOOO! Thank you for invading my inbox!
So, this is a super tough question for me to answer because I relate to so many characters. Maybe I’ll just go by fandom?
Marvel Comics:
I relate the most to Doug Ramsey aka Cypher. We’ve always both been seen as outcasts, especially during our middle school and high school days. We both love learning languages and I have to admit, my friends all think I look like him with brown hair.
MCU:
This one is tough because I love the X-Men right now and they haven’t really been introduced into the main continuity yet. I would have to say that I relate to Bruno Carrelli or Kamala Khan the most. We all have bubbly personalities and are super huge fangirls/fanboys. I find comfort in knowing that there will always be that one person in the MCU that knows what it feels like to be a die hard fangirl. Kate Bishop too, I really relate to her as well.
Star Wars:
Okay, so this one is gonna be tough since I haven’t seen all of the movies yet. I do love Ashoka and how she acts but I wouldn’t say I act like her. I probably relate to Leia the most, but I’m not sure why. I think I’ve always been drawn to her and I think she’s always been this character that people look up to. I want to be the person that people look up to, but I know that it’s gonna be tough to do that.
Lord of the Rings:
I’m just gonna say it: Samwise Gamgee. I’ve been described as a loyal friend and I would do anything for my friends. If I had to go on a super long trip to Mordor to save everyone I love, I would. Also we both enjoy eating so, that’s another reason.
I think that’s all the fandoms I’m in as of now, so that’s the end of my list! Again, thank you for invading my ask box!

everything you said about Captain Britain on my post on my sideblog, I 100 FUCKING PERCENT AGREE!!!
It also bothered the hell out of me in the first episode of Ms. Marvel that at Avengercon, no one was dressed in Sam’s Cap suit?? And there was nothing to do with him at all?? Like that had ALL that Avenger’s merch/meet-n-greets with cosplayers/signs up and everything but yet they couldn’t do ANYTHING for Sam?? REALLY??
Like, if Ms Marvel is set somewhere in 2024 and Sam became Cap in May of 2023, then there would be plenty of time for people to be fans of Sam! You’d think people would be fans of Sam as Falcon for years anyways (cause he was a Avenger whereas Bucky wasn’t even one and people forget that)! His suit is cool as hell, why wouldn’t people want to cosplay it and have fun with it?? But Marvel Studios THEMSELVES continue to ignore Sam’s presence and importance while they continue to hype of a lady who we all watched literally die in a movie that came out 8 years ago…
The battle to get people and the MCU themselves to care about Sam and recognize his importance is just exhausting… I just can’t wait for Anthony to bring in a stellar performance that knocks everyone’s socks off in Cap4 and hopefully it gets some people to see how incredible he is. It’s sad too that he has to prove himself to the these people when he’s being proving how amazing he is for the past 8 years ugh.
SKY I WAS JUST ABOUT TO SEND YOU AN ASK ABOUT THAT POST BC YOU SAID EVERYTHING I WAS THINKING JUST IN A MUCH MORE WELL-SPOKEN AND WELL-PUT WAY!! Seriously that post was SPOT ON, and it is so infuriating (although not surprising) that this is still a conversation that needs to be had.
I forgot to mention Avengers-Con from Ms. Marvel in my rant but yes!! There was even merch for Groot?? GROOT who was on earth for how many mins in Infinity War and then how many minutes in endgame?? When Sam has been saving earth for YEARS. SAM SHOULD HAVE HAD HIS OWN MERCH/COSPLAYERS/ETC THERE!!!
And looking back at Sam’s time as Falcon, he was involved in the community a lot, both for his time in the VA and as an Avenger. He would have easily been a household name just like Captain America and Iron Man. So you KNOW that people in the MCU definitely looked up to him as their hero, admired him, and created merch for him. Yet we, the audience, don’t see that because they don’t show us anything about Sam. Unless I’m mistaken, we have not gotten a single mention of Sam since TFATWS. Even with Kate Bishop, Peter Parker, and Kamala Khan all being massive fans of the Avengers, there’s still no mention of Sam??
And yet, we get to see Captain Carter. We get to see promotions for her. And we don’t get that for Sam, who is actually Captain America!!! The racism both in the fandom and at marvel is apparent and appalling. Anthony has been fantastic since day 1 and somehow has managed to improve an already stellar performance?? He’s incredible!! He’ll absolutely knock Cap4 out of the park. But marvel and the fandom refuses to acknowledge that SAM IS CAPTAIN AMERICA. It’s so frustrating. Anthony deserves better. Sam deserves better.

The Avengers Compound, New York - August 2024
Bucky gazed into Adriana's warm brown eyes and saw love in her eyes. She was the only one in his life that dared to call him cute and he liked it. He held Adriana's hand tight and thought that it was the moment, the moment for their first kiss. So he leaned closer to her and slowly closed his eyes as she did the same. He felt his heart racing really fast as they leaned closer to each other. Suddenly he felt like something tickling his face. He opened his eyes and saw a white furry tail brushing his nose. Alpine, Adriana's white persian cat was standing on top of him, walking in circles on his chest and meowing loudly.
Bucky groaned. It was just a dream, he grumbled. It was the third time that week that he dreamt of Adriana, and it was a good dream too, not like the first two dreams he had when he dreamt of seeing her die in his arms. This last dream, he realized, was like a memory from their second date when he first visited her apartment and met her cats. As soon as he realized it was just a dream, he felt that gaping hole in his chest again. The permanent hole in his heart that he had felt ever since he saw Adriana exploded in the sky before his very eyes. He sighed and forced himself to smile as he looked at Alpine who was still standing on his chest, her blue eyes stared back at him.
"Meow.." Alpine said, looking at him as if asking if he was okay.
"Good morning, Alpine. I'm okay. Just had a good dream and you had to disturb it, didn't you?" Bucky smiled and stroked Alpine's head. He then picked Alpine up from his chest and sat up.
He glanced at the clock on his night stand, it was 7 in the morning. Time to wake up. He thought. He stood up and carried Alpine with him out of his bedroom. Suddenly he felt something brushing his feet. He stopped and looked down and saw Chloe, Adriana's grey tabby persian cat, walking around his feet.
"Good morning, Chloe." Bucky smiled at her. Chloe looked up and meowed. Saying good morning to him in cat language perhaps, Bucky thought.
He put Alpine down and continued walking downstairs towards the kitchen. The two cats followed him, both walking in zig zag in front of him and making him almost trip.
"Careful there, Alpine, Chloe. You don't want me to trip do you?" Bucky said, laughing.
After his meeting with Thor, Bucky followed his advice in taking Adriana's cats back from her friend. After Adriana was gone he had given them to Adriana's friend from work, Emma. When Bucky told Emma that he would like to take Adriana's cats back and take care of them, Emma was very grateful. She had two dogs already and having additional pets in her apartment was actually quite a burden. And so for the past month Bucky took care of Alpine and Chloe. They proved to be good companions for him. Even though they sometimes reminded him of Adriana and made him sad, he was still somewhat happy that he had some legacy from Adriana behind, something to remember her by.
When Bucky arrived in the kitchen he found it deserted. A couple of weeks after the Kree invasion was over and the Avengers had a meeting to plot their next strategy, the girls, Riri, Kate and Kamala had gone back to their homes. Clint also had gone back home to his family. Bruce went back to live in his apartment. Rhodey went back to Washington DC and Thor went back out to outerspace with Love, going from planet to planet helping others in need. Only Sam, Wanda and Bucky stayed at the Avengers Compound.
As the Kree invasion became a thing of the past, the Avengers returned to dealing with minor problems back at their own places. Sam, Bucky and Wanda spent their days mostly to train and deal with minor problems around the country. Sam in particular still received daily reports from other Avengers around the world informing him of their missions and potential problems. Wanda spent her days honing her skills and sometimes went to Stephen Strange's place to learn more about magic and her powers. Bucky had taken a permanent position as SHIELD's hand-to-hand combat and weapons instructor. He also sometimes acted as an advisor at SHIELD's Weapon's Research & Development Department. Even though they had won against the Kree, they followed Carol's advice and stayed prepared. SHIELD continued to recruit new agents and produced weapons and gadgets to prepare for future attacks.
Bucky picked up a bag of cat food from the cupboard, picked out two cat bowls from another cupboard and put them down on the floor. He then poured the cat food into the bowls. Alpine and Chloe immediately started eating, making him smile. He put the bag of cat food back into the cupboard and picked up two cat water bowls, filled them with water and put them near the two cats.
"Good morning, Buck." Sam entered the kitchen. He had a towel around his neck and was wearing shorts.
"Morning, Sam. Just got back from your morning run?" Bucky asked as he prepared some coffee.
"Yeah. Picked this up for you on my way back." Sam said, throwing a newspaper onto the kitchen table. Call him old fashioned but Bucky preferred reading daily news from a physical newspaper rather than the cellphone. Sam knew that and he made it a habit of buying Bucky a newspaper whenever he got the chance, which Bucky really appreciated.
"Oh, thanks, Sam." Bucky smiled, sipping his coffee.
"Hey, you want some coffee?" Bucky asked as he went to sit on a stool by the kitchen table and picked up the newspaper.
"No thanks, I'm good. I just had some on my way back." Sam said as he sat on a stool across from Bucky.
"You might want to turn to the last page first, Buck." Sam said with a glint in his eyes.
"Oh? What's so interesting on the last page?" Bucky asked.
"Just see it for yourself." Sam grinned.
"Hmm.. okay." Bucky responded as he flipped the newspaper to the last page.
There on top of the newspaper was a large headline.
"A Movie Inspired by The Kree Invasion Is Set to Start Production in October."
Bucky raised his eyebrows as he continued reading.
"The Kree Invasion may have passed, but its impact on earth'sinhabitants cannot be ignored. For years, human beings as a collective have been conditioned to believe that should an alien invasion ever to happen to earth, it would be a surprise and would lead to major casualties all over the earth. But what happened during The Kree Invasion turned that perception around. With enough intel and resources, human beings with help from giftedsuperheroes, were able to defend earth from a major alien invasion. The time has come for human beings of earth to make its mark in the universe and prove to any alien race in the universe that we, humans, are not to be messed with.
This story of human beings' triumph is the inspiration for a new movie by the renowned Hollywood director, Michael Stalwart. Written by Eric Danes of the criticallyacclaimed movie The Beginning, the movie will feature the Avengers working together with earth'sgovernments and civilians to prepare and eventually overcome an invasion by the Kree alien race. Some major A-list Hollywood actors have been cast to play in the movie. Most notably Jonathan Ellis as the Captain America, Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes. More casting news have yet to be announced. But with a renowned A-list director at the helm of this movie, we can expect some more A-list actors to join the ensemble."
Bucky's eyes widened as he read the news and saw his name written in it. The first thing that came to his mind was the fact that people still called him the Winter Soldier, which annoyed him. The second thing was the mention of his doppelganger, the actor, Sebastian Stan. It was a no brainer that Sebastian would be cast as him. They literally looked like identical twins, something he wasn't comfortable with.
Bucky remembered the last time he met Sebastian. His heart ached as he remembered it. The day he last met Sebastian was the day he finally made love with Adriana for the first time. He still remembered how beautiful she was and how he knew they were soulmates. They were separated by decades but still found each other. But now she was gone, leaving him with an empty hole in his heart, a permanent hole that would forever be in his heart.
Sometimes he felt she was still alive. His instinct told him that she wasn't really gone but his mind wouldn't believe it. After all, he saw her exploded before his very eyes. There was no way she would have survived that explosion. So Bucky spent his days ignoring that feeling, thinking it was just his way of surviving living without her.
"So they're making a movie about us?" Bucky commented as he flipped the newspaper back to the front side.
"Yeah. Someone from the production company already e-mailed me asking for permission to come here to survey the compound and meet us." Sam said.
"Oh okay. Do they really have to meet us?" Bucky asked, not looking forward to meeting Sebastian at all.
"You don't wanna meet Sebastian?" Sam asked, his eyebrows raised.
"Not if I can help it." Bucky sighed.
"Why, Buck? Is he not a nice guy?" Sam continued to ask.
"No.. he's.. he's nice.. it's just.. the last time I met him was the day when Adriana was kidnapped." Bucky said, referring to the time when Adriana was kidnapped by The Flag Smashers, the same day they first made love. His eyes averted Sam's gaze and he looked at the newspaper instead.
"Oh.. yeah.. okay. Well.. if you don't want to meet him it's fine. I'll let them know." Sam said, nodding in understanding.
"Thanks, Sam." Bucky looked up and smiled, glad Sam understood without him having to explain everything.
"When are you gonna meet with them?" Bucky asked.
"Probably this weekend." Sam answered.
"Okay. I think I'll go to the city this weekend, need to buy some food and sand for Alpine and Chloe." Bucky said, searching for an excuse not to be in the compound.
"Yeah, sure Buck." Sam nodded.
There was a pet store at the compound, but Sam seemed to know Bucky was just looking for an excuse, so he let it go. And Bucky was grateful for that. He was glad to be friends with Sam. Overtime they became closer and seemed to be able to read each other well. He had only ever felt like that with three people in his life, Steve, Sam and Adriana. Two of them were already gone. He was thankful that he still had Sam around. Otherwise he didn't know what would have become of him. Probably dead and found at the base of the Hudson river, he shrugged internally.
A month after Adriana was gone Bucky sometimes still had suicidal thoughts. Especially whenever he looked at Sam with Leila his girlfriend or Clint with his wife. Yes, Leila and Clint's wife had visited the compound after the Kree attack. Seeing them made him jealous and he thought it was better that he died too. If he died he had a chance to find Adriana in the after life. Whereas now, no matter what he did he wouldn't find her as they were in different worlds.
Despite still having suicidal thoughts, he was surprised that he could still function well in his day to day life. He credited that to Sam, Wanda and the cats. Without their companion he most likely couldn't have functioned at all.
-----
It was a sunny summer weekend in New York City. The weather was scorching hot but Bucky still wore a light jacket. He wasn't confident enough to wear just a shirt. He didn't want people to stare at his metal arm. He also still wore gloves, as weird as it might seem to wear them during the summer.
"That will be 52 dollars and 50 cents, sir." The cashier at the pet store he was in said as she put cat food and sand into a large plastic bag.
Bucky paid then thanked the cashier and left. It was time for him to go back to the compound. He had spent all day in the city that day. Not knowing when and how long exactly the people from the movie's production company was going to be at the compound, he decided to go to the city as early as possible and come back as late as possible.
When he arrived in the city he didn't have an exact plan on what to do. So at first he just took a walk around Brooklyn, near his old apartment. He then decided to watch a movie at a cinema nearby to kill some time. He watched the latest Minions movie which made him laugh a lot. Something he had not done in a while. After that he grabbed a quick bite at a burger joint. If Sam knew he was eating burgers he probably would've killed him. Sam had been influencing Bucky to eat healthy food and not junk food, which was a good idea, but he decided to treat himself that day and he definitely didn't regret it at all.
After he was done eating he continued to walk towards the pet store which was kind of far from where the burger joint was, but he was looking to do something to kill some time so he didn't mind the long walk. He did bring his motorcycle, but he parked it back near his old apartment and opted to go around in the city on foot.
He walked out of the pet store and as he looked to the front his heart seemed to stop. He didn't notice it before but across the street from the pet store was the coffee shop where he first had a date with Adriana. His mind flashed back at that moment. The moment she first touched his upper lip as she tried to clean it from the coffee he was drinking. The pain in his heart was unbearable as the memory of his first date with Adriana continued to flash by in his mind. Tears started to stream down from his eyes and he turned his body around, not wanting to see the coffee shop again. He wiped the tears in his eyes, took a deep breath and continued to walk. It really was time for him to get back to the compound. He realized Adriana's office was located not far from there and he was afraid the longer he stayed in the city, the more likely he would find something that would trigger him to remember Adriana again.
It was almost sunset when he arrived back at the Avengers Compound. He noticed some unfamiliar cars parked in front of the main entrance to the main building. He stopped behind one of the cars and saw a sticker at the back window of the car. It was a sticker with the words A24 on it, which he knew was a film production company. He realized that the people from the production company were probably still there, including Sebastian. So he decided to ride back out of the compound and to a small town nearby to wait until the people leave, but before he had the chance to do it he heard someone calling his name.
"Bucky..!" Bucky looked up and saw his doppelganger coming out of the door of the main entrance. He was followed by Sam, two men he didn't know and a black man he assumed was the actor who was going to play Sam.
Great! Speak of the devil. Bucky thought in distaste, annoyed that his trip to the city was for nothing. He couldn't help but feel a slight dislike towards Sebastian even though he didn't have any reason to. Somehow he still felt jealous of him even though Adriana was already gone.
Bucky got off from his motorcycle and studied Sebastian as he walked closer to him. Sebastian's hair was slightly long and it was combed all the way back. He was glad his hair was in a different style than Sebastian. That way people could differentiate between them. Sebastian smiled at Bucky as they walked closer. He extended his hand to Bucky as he arrived in front of him.
"How are you, Bucky?" he asked, a big smile on his face.
"I've been better." Bucky shrugged and shook Sebastian's hand. He didn't squeeze his hand too tight this time.
"Oh, yeah. I'm sorry about.. Adriana.." Sebastian's smile was gone, replaced by a sad frown on his face.
"Thank you." Bucky said, his jaw clenched.
He then continued to shake the hands of the two men he didn't know, who turned out to be the director and location manager, as well as the actor playing Sam, Jonathan Ellis.
"Sam said you had some errands in the city. Didn't think we'd run into you today." Sebastian continued, smiling at him.
"Uh.. yeah.. well, I did have some errands to do but I'm done." Bucky said.
"Thank God we run into you because I was hoping to meet you today. I mean.. I'm sure you know about the movie we're going to make about the Kree invasion." Sebastian said, carefully.
"Yeah, I do know about it." Bucky said.
"I was hoping to be able to talk to you, if you don't mind. I mean.. I'm going to be playing you after all." Sebastian said, his eyes looked hopeful.
Bucky felt he couldn't say no to Sebastian, he didn't want to seem rude.
"Umm.. sure. Now?" Bucky asked.
"Why not? We were about to go home but this won't take long." Sebastian said.
Bucky nodded. Sebastian then guided him away from the others and they stood face to face near one of the two cars belonging to the production company.
"First of all, it's a huge honor to be playing as you. I mean, you're my favorite Avenger." Sebastian smiled. Bucky felt his heart warmed somehow.
"Oh.. thanks." Bucky said.
"Yeah, I mean.. your story is one of the most fascinating one out of all of the Avengers. The fact that you survived and overcame such hardship is amazing." Sebastian's eyes shone as he looked at Bucky, making Bucky blushed a little.
"Umm.. thanks." Bucky said, not knowing how else to respond to Sebastian's compliments.
"Yeah, anyway. The movie is going to focus on not just the Avengers but also the civilians and SHIELD agents involved in all the preparations in facing the invasion. And.. I hope it's okay with you but.. I heard about what happened to Adriana. How she essentially became a super soldier, and I think it's a fascinating story to tell. So I was wondering, would you be okay if we tell her story too in the movie?" Sebastian asked, looking at Bucky expectantly.
Bucky felt the pain in his heart again. How dare he? He was still grieving and here he was daring to suggest such a thing. Bucky clenched his jaw and gave Sebastian a hard stare. Sebastian seemed to notice Bucky's dislike because he then quickly said.
"If you're not okay with it then it's absolutely fine. We will not include her at all in the movie." Sebastian said.
"Yeah, I'd rather that you don't." Bucky said coldly.
"Okay, we won't then." Sebastian nodded.
"Good." Bucky said, relaxing a little.
"So, anyway, the second thing I want to ask is.. do you mind if I come here again sometime next week? I'd love to see you do your daily activities. I mean, the more I learn about you the better I will be in portraying you." Sebastian asked.
Bucky felt annoyed. He'd really rather not have Sebastian following him around all day.
"Is Jonathan gonna do the same thing with Sam?" Bucky asked.
"Yeah. As a matter of fact he's going to stay here for a whole month." Sebastian said.
"What?!" Bucky's jaw dropped in shock.
"For research, you know." Sebastian said.
"And Sam agreed to that?" Bucky asked, dumbfounded.
"Yeah he did. Hey, Sam!" Sebastian beckoned Sam to come to them with his hand.
"What's up?" Sam asked as he arrived in front of them.
"I was just telling Bucky that Jonathan will be staying here for a month." Sebastian said.
"Oh yeah. That's right." Sam nodded.
Bucky's eyebrows furrowed as he looked at Sam.
"Excuse me, Sebastian. I need to talk to Sam in private." Bucky said as he grabbed Sam's arm and pulled him to the side.
"Okay sure." Sebastian nodded.
"What are you thinking allowing civilians to stay at the compound?" Bucky asked in a low voice as soon as he was sure they were out of Sebastian's earshot.
"I just thought the more Jonathan sees how I am in my day to day live, the better his portrayal of me will be. I mean.. I don't want my character to look stupid or something." Sam explained and Bucky rolled his eyes.
"Why do you care so much about this movie?" Bucky asked in disbelief.
"It's going to be an inspirational movie to everyone. Which I think is needed in the world today. And besides, I figured it will be fun. It's not like I'm going to show them anything classified that we're doing." Sam clarified.
Bucky sighed.
"If you don't want Sebastian to stay here then you can tell him. It's your call." Sam said, clapping Bucky's shoulder.
The more he thought about it, he felt that he did need to make sure that Sebastian portrayed him correctly. He didn't want to look stupid either in the movie. But letting him stay in the compound for a month seemed to be a stretch.
"Maybe I'll let him stay for a day.." Bucky contemplated loudly.
"A day? What do you think he could get out of you in a day? That you wake up at 7 every morning, feed the cats and train? That's it?" Sam laughed.
"Okay.. okay.. maybe I'll let him stay for a week." Bucky finally said.
"Yeah, a week sounds okay." Sam smiled.
"Besides, it's getting kind of quiet in the compound with just the three of us. Jonathan and Sebastian can bring some more fun. They're both really funny." Sam chuckled.
"I like quiet, what's wrong with the compound being quiet?" Bucky asked, his eyebrows raised.
"I knew you'd say that." Sam rolled his eyes.
"What?" Bucky asked, feeling slightly offended by Sam's reply.
"Nothing, Buck. I know you prefer the quietness rather than the opposite. But I think it will be good for all of us to have some different company for a change." Sam said.
"Are you saying you don't like living with me or Wanda?" Bucky asked, fully offended this time.
"What..?! No, Buck. That's not what I'm saying!" Sam said, surprised.
"Then what are you saying?" Bucky asked, folding his arms in front of him in annoyance.
"Look, I'm so happy that you seem to be doing well in the past month, taking care of the cats and all. But I rarely see you smile or laugh these days. I mean.. I'm sorry but.. I can hear you crying at night, Buck." Sam said, his eyebrows furrowed in concern as he touched Bucky's shoulder in support.
"Oh.." Bucky said, not knowing what to say. He did spend his nights crying over Adriana sometimes.. well.. maybe almost every night. He didn't think anyone would hear him and he felt embarrassed that Sam did in fact heard him.
"So.. I don't know.. Jonathan and Sebastian seemed like really good guys and fun guys to be around. It will be interesting to have them stay with us." Sam said, staring at Bucky expectantly.
Bucky sighed. As much as he'd like them not to stay at the compound, Sam was right. It was time for him to really move on. He couldn't spend every night crying over Adriana. If she knew, she probably would have been devastated. She would've wanted him to move on.
"Fine.. I'll let Sebastian stay for a week." Bucky finally said.
"Great! I'm happy to hear that." Sam said and he clapped Bucky's shoulder.
They then returned to where Sebastian was standing and told him of Bucky's decision.
"Thank you so much Bucky for letting me stay here. I promise I won't be a bother." Sebastian smiled wide as he shook Bucky's hand enthusiastically.
"Yeah. No problem." Bucky said, forcing back a smile.
Sebastian and Jonathan then left with the director and location manager, promising to come back to the compound the next Monday. Bucky looked at them drove away in their cars and sighed. He wasn't looking forward to their stay at all but he agreed with Sam, their stay at the compound would be very interesting.

Supreme Intelligence Temple, Hala, Capital of Kree Civilization - July 2024
Yon-Rogg stepped onto the hexagonal shape on the floor and it immediately turned blue. He closed his eyes as streams of blue worm-like light crawled up from the floor and connected to the tips of his fingers and temples. He opened his eyes just as the shape of his former commander Zen-Pram appeared in front of him. He had just arrived in Hala moments before and immediately left the mother ship to report to the Supreme Intelligence.
"Mission report, Yon-Rogg." Supreme Intelligence as Zen-Pram ordered as he gave Yon-Rogg a hard stare.
"Forgive me, Supreme Intelligence. As you have ordered, we have sent all our sentries and best fighter pilots including my very own Star Force to earth but.. we lost 90% of our sentries, 70% of our fighter pilots and the only surviving member of the Star Force is myself. Humans, helped with The Avengers turned out to be quite a formidable opponent. Something we did not expect. So, we had to retreat." Yon-Rogg said as he bowed his head in shame.
"I see.. did you manage to find and kill James Buchanan Barnes and Adriana Weaver?" Supreme Intelligence asked.
"I apologize, Supreme Intelligence. I did not succeed in killing them. But, I took Adriana Weaver with me. We could..." Yon-Rogg said but his words were cut off as Supreme Intelligence suddenly yelled.
"You did what?! You took her with you?!" Supreme Intelligence yelled, his form suddenly changed into a taller version of Zen-Pram. Yon-Rogg shrank back in fear.
"Y..yes Supreme Intelligence. I thought we could use her as leverage." Yon-Rogg tried to explain.
"My orders were clear, Yon-Rogg. Kill them or I will downgrade your rank! I do not accept anything else other than that!" Supreme Intelligence grew even taller and bigger in front of Yon-Rogg.
"I apologize Supreme Intelligence." Yon-Rogg said, looking down at his feet in shame.
"I'm giving you one last chance, kill her or it's your own head on the line." Supreme Intelligence said in a loud booming voice, surprising Yon-Rogg.
"V.. very well, Supreme Intelligence." Yon-Rogg bowed his head and put his right hand on his chest in respect.
"As for James Buchanan Barnes, I'll send someone more capable than you to deal with him." Supreme Intelligence said as his form slowly shrank back to Yon-Rogg's size.
"Very well, Supreme Intelligence." Yon-Rogg nodded.
"I did not expect people of earth to be so resilient. I will have to think about this more carefully." Supreme Intelligence said, putting his fingers underneath his chin thoughtfully.
"Supreme Intelligence, if I may make a suggestion. We could send the Nandas to help. I think they are ready." Yon-Rogg suggested, referring to the alien race Nanda from the planet Nanda of the Particulus star system whom the Kree had successfully conquered two years before.
"No, I have other uses for them. No need to concern yourself with this Yon-Rogg, all I ask of you now is to kill Adriana Weaver. Or I will send Zogg-larn to deal with you." Supreme Intelligence said, referring to one of the most feared generals in the Kree military whom Supreme Intelligence sometimes used as an executioner if he found anyone dared to go out of line.
"Y..yes Supreme Intelligence." Yon-Rogg stammered.
"Do not disappoint me again, Yon-Rogg. I would really hate to see you go. You have been a good and loyal warrior for our empire. Now go and do as I have told." Supreme Intelligence said and then he vanished, leaving Yon-Rogg alone in the white empty room.
Yon-Rogg closed his eyes and opened it again moments later as the blue streams of light disconnected from his temples and fingers back into the hexagonal shape on the floor. He turned around and with swift steps walked out of Supreme Intelligence's Chamber back towards the mother ship, where he still kept Adriana in captivity.
-----
Kree Mother Ship - July 2024
Yon-Rogg entered the mother ship, walking swiftly towards where the holding cells were. He couldn't believe Supreme Intelligence went as far as threatening to kill him if he didn't kill Adriana. He thought it wouldn't matter that Adriana still lived seeing how she was separated from her fiancee anyway. And Yon-Rogg already had ideas on keeping her on Hala and not return her back to earth at all. But Supreme Intelligence wouldn't listen to him. He wondered why he was so adamant about killing them. Yon-Rogg wasn't much of a believer in prophecy and uncertain mystical things like that. He preferred to use his logic than believing in something as uncertain as a prophecy. But Supreme Intelligence must have had his reasons. He did embody the Kree empire's greatest minds. However, he couldn't help but feel disappointed that Supreme Intelligence threatened him like that, as if he had not done everything he was ordered to do for centuries. For the first time in his life he felt a rebellious feeling in his heart, like a whisper telling him not to obey Supreme Intelligence. But he ignored that feeling. Remember Yon-Rogg, your own life is on the line, don't be stupid. He reprimanded himself.
He finally arrived in front of the holding cell where Adriana was held captive. When he left Adriana she was unconscious after hitting the back of her head on the sink. Yon-Rogg had lifted her and laid her down on the bed. As he lifted her to the bed he couldn't help but feel his heart skipped a beat as he looked down on her. He never thought he would ever felt that way again. But this human woman reminded him so much of Una, the love of his life whom he never got to be with. He wondered if he could go through with it.. killing her. He already felt reluctant in hurting her let alone kill her.
He took a deep breath and pushed the button beside the door. When the door was opened he found Adriana already awake. She was sitting on the bed, her head and shoulder leaned back on the wall behind the bed. She looked up at him and looked at him with a scared look on her face. Yon-Rogg entered the room and quickly pushed the button beside the door to close it. He didn't want Adriana to have the chance to run away again. He walked closer to her and Adriana scooted to the corner of the bed, as far away from him as possible.
"You're awake, good." Yon-Rogg said as he stopped in front of the bed.
"Who are you?" Adriana asked, her eyes wide in fear.
"My name is Yon-Rogg. I'm a Colonel on the Kree military." he said, relieved that she was civil enough to hold a conversation and not trying to get away again.
"Kree?" Adriana asked.
"Yes, we are one of the most feared alien race in the Greater Magellanic Cloud." Yon-Rogg answered, wondering why she seemed confused.
"Am I.. am I a Kree?" Adriana suddenly asked, surprising Yon-Rogg.
"You don't remember who you are?" Yon-Rogg asked slowly.
Adriana slowly shook her head. "Who am I?" She asked. And Yon-Rogg's jaw dropped in shock as he realized Adriana had amnesia.

Hypothetical set-up for the Hawkeye series (episodes 1-3):
Episode 1
Picking up right at the end of “Avengers: Endgame”, Clint Barton returns home to finally retire from superhero work. Right off the bat, we get a massive retcon regarding the Barton family; Laura Barton, Clint’s wife, is revealed to be an undercover S.H.I.E.L.D. agent (based on Laura Brown from the comics). Unbeknownst to Clint, his whole family was just a ruse to maintain his loyalty to S.H.I.E.L.D. (and, technically, HYDRA). Agent Laura Brown was so dedicated to her mission that she even got married and started a family with him.
Clint is outraged and believes that Nick Fury would never sign off on this kind of operation. Laura agrees and says that the operation was actually greenlit by G.W. Bridge, the S.H.I.E.L.D. director of the 1990s (remember, Fury was just an agent around this time). Bridge didn’t trust Barton, so he assigned Laura to “ensure” his loyalty. With S.H.I.E.L.D. being absorbed into S.W.O.R.D., Monica Rambeau decided to end several operations that were still in place before the 2014 HYDRA uprising, which is why Laura is just revealing her true colors now.
Laura essentially leaves Clint and takes the kids with her. Depressed, he leaves for New York City...leading to him getting attacked by Yakuza hitmen seeking to avenge their boss, Akihiko (the Yakuza boss who Clint killed in Endgame). Clint kills the Yakuza hitmen but not before his ears are permanently damaged by an explosion, resulting in him becoming deaf.
The episode ends with a time jump. Six months after Clint lost his family and his hearing, we cut to Kate Bishop, a young adult living in New York City. By day, she works at a diner run by her mother, Eleanor Bishop. By night, she works as a vigilante under the name “Hawkeye”. Along the lines of Peter Parker and Kamala Khan, Kate was inspired to take up crimefighting by the Avengers, with Clint being her personal favorite since she’s also skilled with the bow.
Clint, now a complete wreck, learns about the new Hawkeye while eating at the Bishop family diner. This convinces him to get out of retirement since Kate is unaware of the danger of operating under that name.
Episode 2
This episode is mainly about Clint and Kate meeting each other. Kate is initially starstruck upon meeting her favorite Avenger but becomes quickly annoyed when Clint tells her to stop being a vigilante. Kate says she wants to fight villains, like the Avengers, but Clint says that she has no idea what she’s getting involved in. Kate then impulsively challenges Clint to an archery duel; if she wins, she gets to keep operating as Hawkeye but if she loses, she retires for good.
Clint Barton easily wins, much to Kate’s dismay. Despite getting what he wanted, Clint and Kate are forced to work together when Clint learns that a massive bounty in the criminal underworld has been placed on Kate’s head. Clint says that he’s wanted by criminal organizations all over the world due to his actions as Ronin and that by operating as Hawkeye, Kate became targeted as well. Kate asks Clint how bad the bounty is, which leads us to a montage of criminals going after the two Hawkeyes.
This ending sequence is very John Wick-esque since it’s essentially Clint and Kate going on the run while dealing with different criminal gangs trying to collect their bounties. With the whole criminal world gunning for them, Clint agrees to bring Kate along with him, thus starting their partnership. He also starts wondering if Kate should be his successor after witnessing her skills with the bow.
Side note, one of the mercenaries who tries to kill Clint and Kate is Maya Lopez (Echo). While it’s not revealed at this point, the reason she’s fighting for the criminals is because she’s the adopted daughter of Wilson Fisk (Kingpin). She’s unaware that Fisk was the one who murdered her father.
Post-credits scene: Yelena Belova arrives in New York City to kill Clint.
Episode 3
Clint comes up with a plan; get out of New York City and drive to Pennsylvania to link up with Jacques Duquesne (the Swordsman), one of his former mentors and allies. As Clint and Kate begin to bond with each other, they’re attacked by Yelena Belova. The two Hawkeyes are able to stop Yelena by working as a team, but stop short of killing her. The two decide to tie Yelena up in order to get information out of her.
This episode is essentially the two Hawkeyes bonding with Yelena and getting her to join their team. Yelena explains that she doesn’t know anything about the bounties on their heads and that she’s here because Clint killed Natasha Romanoff. Clint then tells Yelena what really happened, leading to Yelena feeling betrayed by Contessa Valentina.
Near the end of the episode, Clint and Kate decide to let Yelena go. Instead, Yelena decides to stay with the Hawkeyes. She says something along the lines of, “Natasha died to save you, Clint. If I let you die now to a bunch of random criminals, Natasha would never forgive me.” Yelena officially joins the Hawkeye duo and the three head down to Pennsylvania.
Meanwhile, we’re introduced to the man who placed the bounties on the Hawkeyes; Kazimierz “Kazi” Kazimierczak, a Russian mobster known as “The Clown”. In his brief appearance in this episode, Kazi orders his mercenaries in America to go after Eleanor Bishop in order to lure out Kate.

so i accidentally made myself feel things about the Avengers being asked to do a short run of Hamilton for charity or something and they’re all arguing over who’s going to be Hamilton and Burr (Steve and Tony obviously!! but who is who?) and how is the producer going to convince Fury to be Washington, who is going to play king george (lots of side-eyes going around at that one, Reed and Tony and Steve all think it should be the other)
and the production crew and probably LMM himself are like. haha. this is awkward. there’s been a misunderstanding
because of COURSE they want to use the Young Avengers, like are you even for REAL, some designer or publicity intern livetweets the whole thing “I did not even know TOny Stark could MAKE a face like that” “guys i think we might all die in avengers tower rip us” “captain america looks like he wants to laugh and punch something at the same time halp”
i just have some FEELINGS about Eli Bradley playing Hamilton to Kate Bishop’s Burr (though they’re the kind of little shits who would say “i know your part, let’s switch” and make every actual broadway/theatre person involved want to perish), Noh as Lafayette, Tommy as Peggy/Maria, George Washington is played by a Cap because I am destroyed thinking about Sam Wilson singing “history has its eyes on you” to Eli, but also Bucky or Steve (and how FRAUGHT “Stay Alive” with Kate and Steve would be!!! “everyday sir entrust me with a command! and every day--” “no” “--he dismisses me out of hand” I MEan), Kamala Khan as John Laurens, Miles Morales plays Hamilton one night, or if he can’t get out of school he releases some songs on the HamilVengers mixtape. Robbie Reyes is in it, Cassie and America and Loki and David, Billy and Teddy, but i am ALSO just like, what about Nate Richards, would he be Hamilton or Burr, maybe it’s a thing where they switch off who is playing Hamilton and Eli and Kate see Nate across a stage and it’s a moment of. YOU. and the three of them have to be forcibly separated resulting in several black eyes and split lips
Tony gets asked to play king george and he does NOT find that funny, shut up steve, he might flat out refuse the role and Loki shoves him out of the way like, great, this is my job anyway. or maybe tony begrudgingly does it, just to be in the show, but he’s NOT the king george of this scenario!!! that’s reed richards, go ask him. no, wait, don’t, I’ll do it, don’t let him be in it.
they release a ton of promo videos of Washington/Hamilton moments between Avengers and their “younger counterparts” and the comments sections are a NIGHTMARE, people are mad that the “Real avengers” aren’t the Hamilsquad but there are an equal number of people going “uhhh YOUNG SCRAPPY AND HUNGRY how does that describe established superheroes, stfu” and people STRUGGLING with the idea of legacy??? how are they NOT the right choices???
i had so much more but my migraine ate it i’m very sad i can’t remember who was supposed to play hercules and i’m just having a lot of feelings, like valley forge on the mixtape? “i am seeing the best minds of my generation waste away in pestilence and starvation” Eli and Kate come in to do a cover of it or something and they just. start crying, remembering being teenagers hunted down by the government, living through two superhero registration movements, David pops by and it’s a bawlfest, and they have lived through so much and it doesn’t ever stop. there’s a picture of the three of them in the recording studio foreheads touching as they lean in a little triangle, headphones around their necks. lin posts it to insta with this beautiful message about being heroes with nothing, with no support, when it seems like everything is falling apart. he says something about the summer soldier and the sunshine patriot and Bucky THEE Barnes is one of the first responses with “these are the winter soldiers the world needs” (which of course causes an uproar, what did he MEAN, and he’s like, it’s the rest of the quote ya jackasses! and the Young Avengers get mad at people getting mad at him, because that’s OUR Bucky!!! and he and Steve ALSO lived through something like this!! so fuck off!!1)
but yeah. Kate and Eli as Burr and Hamilton. Money wise, Kate’s Burr, Eli’s more Hamilton, but on the other hand, in the superhero community, Eli’s the one with weight behind his name while Kate’s the upstart newcomer, and Eli always seems to be the measured one to Kate’s more reckless personality, Eli knows his limits and Kate’s over here like “fight in space? throw myself in front of a car to get evidence? idk sure!!!” and how much they’d see themselves in those roles and how they’d reconnect with each other, i have too many FEELINGS

Thank you so much to @herosofmarvelanddc @cloudypaws and @mtab2260 for the tag! This was so much fun to think about :)
(fair warning, I wrote too much for many of these...)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Just 2 :)
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
450,577 if I did my math right!
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Officially? Just 1 - Agents of Shield (two, I guess, if you count MCU as separate, since I use characters from both...). Off the record, many more than that! I have lots of bits and bobs from other fandoms that I tinkered with when I was younger, still getting the hang of writing, not brave enough to post things, etc. etc. Some of those include X-Men, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, the Fosters, Star Wars, the Hunger Games, the 39 Clues, and a few others I can’t remember. None of those will likely see the light of day, mostly because they’re unfinished, not very good, and just not reflective of who I am as a writer anymore, but they were fun to play around with at the time :)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
I just have the two, but The Important Thing is to Try wins, hands down, with 1227. Shoulder to Shoulder has 95, though, which I’m also very proud of! Important Thing has a definite advantage, being as long as it is, so I don’t know if that’s really a fair comparison between them.
5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Yes! Or at least, I always try to! I just can’t believe someone would be kind enough to take the time to tell me what they thought of my story, so I always want to take the time to thank them and return the favor :) Plus, as I’ve learned, it’s a fantastic way to get to know some really lovely people!
6. What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Well... I technically only have one story that has an ending, at least on Ao3, and it’s not an especially angsty one, since it ends in Phil and Melinda getting married :) I have some angsty chapter endings in Important Thing, if that counts? I’m not even sure if any of my unpublished fiddlings have angsty endings (most don’t have endings at all lol)... I don’t mind writing angst, but I don’t know if I’m capable of making something without a happy (or at least hopeful) ending.
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you've ever written?
Not really, unless you count AoS/MCU crossovers (which I guess technically count, but also I would argue it’s not a true crossover since (and I will die on this hill) AoS is a part of MCU canon). When I was younger I was a fan of playing around with crossover AUs more so than the actual characters crossing paths (so like, what if these characters from XYZ were demigods or went to Hogwarts or what have you, and not so much what would happen if the X-Men met Luke, Leia, and Han on one of their space adventures). I started writing a crossover between AoS and the Marvel Rising cartoon once (which again, not sure if that’s a true crossover, since Daisy was in Marvel Rising, but I digress), where Coulson tasks Daisy to work with Kate Bishop and Rayshaun Lucas to collect and train a team of young Inhumans, starting with Kamala Khan, but I ran out of steam pretty quickly when it got too plot heavy.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I don’t think so. I’ve had some people not understand some choices that I made, but they asked it in a way that I thought was perfectly nice, and I was happy to talk about it with them. Sometimes people get “mad” at me when I cause pain and suffering, but I know that’s all in good fun :)
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope, not for me. I don’t read it or write it, personally. Writing a kiss is hard enough!
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge! Important Thing is probably too long and unwieldy to ever steal :P
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Someone once asked me on FFN if they could translate Important Thing to Russian, which was basically the coolest thing I’ve ever been asked!
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
A fic, no. I’d love to try sometime! I had a friend in college who I co-wrote with A LOT, though, so I know I enjoy that process, given the right partner. We wrote several short plays together (ranging from ~15-50 minutes in length, including one that we wrote in a single afternoon!), selected scenes from a larger (unfinished) play inspired by historical letters we found in an archive that were sent between a man from Massachusetts serving in the American Civil War, his wife, and his 8-year-old son, and several scripts for TV sitcoms (2 pilots for 2 different shows, plus additional eps for those pilots, and a couple of later eps for a different show that a classmate of ours wrote the pilot for - we were trying to practice what it would be like to be on a staff with a showrunner haha). The sitcom scripts in particular I’m very proud of, and could talk somebody’s ear off about if asked (one’s about ghost hunters and one’s about a DnD party!), but maybe that’s better saved for another post ;)
13. What's your all-time favorite ship?
That’s a very hard question for me! Mostly because shipping stuff is usually one of the last things to register for me when I’m thinking about shows/books/movies I like haha... I’m always a sucker for Philinda, and younger me was rather taken with Percabeth, I suppose.
14. What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
Hmm, several, really. The aforementioned AoS/Marvel Rising crossover I think could be really cool if I got it to work, but I don’t think that’ll ever happen. I also have a WIP that’s like an angstier version of a Hallmark Christmas movie AU where Daisy has to come home to her small town right before Christmas and figure out what she wants out of life, but I’m a little stalled out on that one, mostly because I’m waffling on who the charming love interest should be and because I don’t have enough of a plot, just lots of feelings about coming back home to a place you thought you had left behind lol.
I’d put Important Thing and it’s (as of yet) untitled sequel on here as things I want to finish, but I’m much more determined to see those through, so I don’t think they qualify for the “never will actually write” part of this question :)
15. What are your writing strengths?
I don’t know if other people agree with this, but I think I write pretty decent dialogue. My “training” (if you can call it that) is in, as you might have figured out by now, script and screenplay writing (those were the only creative writing classes I took in college). So having a sense of the rhythm a conversation needs to have and how to write dialogue that sounds mostly like how people really talk (but shined and tightened up enough so that it’s not actually like verbatim dialogue, which is far less interesting to read!) is something that I feel like comes pretty easily. I also think I do okay with similes and metaphors - my brain tends to work in that way. It’s easier for me to think of stuff (feelings, especially) in terms of comparing it to more familiar things than to just think of the thing directly, if that makes sense?
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
If I was being honest, this would be a very long section, but I know it’s not fun to read a big ol’ paragraph of someone self-criticizing, so I’ll keep it to one or two items ;) A big one for me is pacing, I think. I tend to write more than I need to and to over-explain things, so my chapters get very long and sometimes don’t really go anywhere? Until all of the sudden, they DO, because things need to HAPPEN! I’m a pretty rigorous self-editor, but I do have a really hard time cutting out sections (unless they’re really just not working), so even if it would help the pacing to leave out this conversation between character A and character B, I often can’t make myself cut it. I also think I struggle sometimes with balancing my ‘showing’ and my ‘telling,’ especially in the sense of me over-explaining certain things - like when it comes to feelings/facial expressions/etc, for example. I compensate for that in Important Thing by making it a part of a few people’s POV, but it’s not really a good habit to have in general. Also spelling! I’m really bad at spelling and run my stuff through robust spellchecks and text-to-speech before I post anything to make up for it :)
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I do it with some regularity, although I always get nervous about doing it wrong! It’s hard to avoid in AoS, where characters are spies and should (in theory, at least) have a working knowledge of multiple languages (”We’re spies, I thought we all learned languages?!”). Even in an AU, where characters aren’t spies, I like to try and pay homage to that, plus pay homage to certain characters’ native languages or just general multilingualism. I’ve spent a fair amount of time around people who speak more than one language, so I feel like it’s a natural part of groups of people to have more than one language spoken. I have a pretty good handle on written Spanish, a patchy idea of French, plus I know some Russian phrases from my dad and some German words from my grandfather, but I do rely on internet translation a lot. I usually run stuff through google, then run it backwards to see just how far off the initial translation was, then consult some actual, like, language learning sites to see if there’s particular idioms or common phrases that use different words than what google will give me, then run those words through backwards in the place of the original words to see if I can massage the whole thing to sound reasonably competent. Languages like Russian or Mandarin (which have their own alphabets/characters) are the hardest, since I have to also try and do a transliteration. I always try to put an apology/disclaimer in the notes any time I write in a language that isn’t English, because I’m sure I make lots of mistakes.
Also, I tend not to italicize words that are in other languages, because it looks weird on the page to me to set the other language apart like that (and because I italicize mainly for internal thoughts or emphasis, and usually what’s being said in another language isn’t internal or being emphasized). I put a rough translation at the end so we don’t have to pause the story for a parenthetical translation, but because the translation’s not right there, I try to either put in enough context clues that a person can still understand what’s going on, or I make sure that what’s written in another language isn’t critical to the overall understanding of the scene.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Officially, it’s AoS, since that’s the only fandom I’ve published for. I think the first true fandom I wrote fic for was probably either Harry Potter (entirely populated with OCs lol, I just liked using the world/setting), Percy Jackson (a mix of OCs and canon characters), or X-Men (all canon characters). I was a bit of a latecomer to fanfiction, though, like, I wrote a ton as a kid, but mostly original stuff, because I didn’t know that fanfiction in its current form was even allowed until I was in high school lol.
Oh! I almost forgot one! I’m not sure if this really counts as a fandom, but it’s definitely the earliest version of fanfic I wrote haha... I was like 12 and I wrote more than one story of an OC joining Robin Hood’s band of Merry Men, and then also one of that same OC becoming a knight of the Round Table, so like... do what you will with that information haha.
19. What's you're favorite fic you've written?
I can’t choose between my two darlings :( I mean, okay, technically it’s probably Important Thing. That story’s my baby. It’s huge and I’ve been working on it for almost 2 years, and I’ve poured a lot of my heart and soul into it. I’ve fallen in love with the universe I built in it, so much so that I wrote an entire prequel and have very concrete plans for a lengthy sequel. But I can’t not crow about Shoulder to Shoulder (the aforementioned prequel!), too... I’m just really proud of that one - it has a lot of firsts for me. First completed story. First romance-focused story. First foray into expanding the Important Thing universe. But yes, if I have to choose, then Important Thing wins. That’s a story that I started writing exclusively for myself - to give myself characters I could relate to and to explore a style of AoS fic that I loved reading - and that’s a story I will always and forever be proud of.
I think most people have probably answered this tag game at this point, so I don’t want to accidentally retag anyone! If you haven’t yet, and would like to join in, please do! This is your invitation <3

If you could write End Game and bring back everyone, how would YOU do it? Would you recreate the stones? Go back in time? Make an ary of androids?
okay so the thing is i dont actually disagree with the Time Heist. like i do agree that its very messy, but I do think as a concept it was probably the only way to bring them back
i think the only other way I could think of bringing them back would be the one headcanon where Thor keeps bringing green animals for Bruce but one of them is actually Loki and he says that they're in a pocket dimension and that he can bring everyone back
but i cant actually think of another way to spend an entire film bringing the dead back successfully because the logic of "the stones did this so only the stones can undo it" makes a lot of sense to me
its the stuff AFTER they come back that i would change
I would have Clint die instead of Nat because well - i just dont like Clint that much to be honest
I would have Loki come back, because I think that in Ragnarok, Taika set up this very good arc that Infinity War and Endgame never followed through with
its somewhere on my blog but I do have this write up of Loki coming back during that final battle
On that topic, I would not have Steve wield the hammer, I'd much rather have Loki wield the hammer and save his brother as this way to cement that both Thor and Loki have changed and grown
In respect to Thor, i personally really liked that Thor was fat in Endgame but I would've dealt with it much better. It wouldn't have been for comic relief, it would've been a representation of Thor dealing with the loss of his entire planet and a huge amount of his citizens
Rocket would've been very different. I don't like how rude Rocket was to everyone - again I understand that it was comic relief, but in GOTG Rocket is never rude for the sake of being rude and he is actually respectful of all his teammates but that never comes across in Endgame
Like, Tony is building a gauntlet to house the 6 stones. The only other people who did that were dwarfs who's entire existence is based on their ability to mould metal - where does Rocket get off by saying "you're only a genius on Earth"?
Similarly, the way he deals with Thor's grief in Asgard is so horrible because more than ANYONE rocket should understand what it means for Thor to be back in Asgard,,,because Rocket lost everyone in the Snap. Rocket should be able to understand the pain that Thor is going through
Again, this is a really big post on my blog - but Carol would've done that final snap. Even though I know that she was only introduced to rival Wonder Woman, i think that the notion that Captain Marvel was introduced because she is one of the few beings who could wield the gauntlet and she HAD to be the one to wield the gauntlet because of her arc makes a lot more sense than Tony wielding it
I would've liked to see the Avengers honouring Clint's sacrifice by taking a more active role in mentoring kids to take up their mantels - and then shows like Kate Bishop's Hawkeye and Kamala Khan's Miss Marvel growing from there
i cant think of much else that I would change but that's what I would've done with endgame

Which characters from the comics do you want to see with their own movies??
Oh my god there are some that I would literally die for
First of all, Ms Marvel (Kamala Khan) – my previous post has a few more examples from the comics but I love Kamala and Bruno and she’s obsessed with Captain Marvel which is relatable af
Tumblr media
Also, Kate Bishop (Hawkeye) – here’s one of my favourite moments with her and Clint (Hawkguy lmao). The Matt Fraction comics are kind of brilliant. I think I’d prefer this as a tv show though.
Tumblr media
Then, we have She Hulk (who is so much cooler than she sounds I love her okay) she teams up with people like Daredevil and Antman and she’s just a badass green lawyer.
Tumblr media
I would love to see The Fantastic Four in the mcu because they’re truly awesome characters that haven’t been showcased nearly as well as they could’ve been.
I love the comic run where Jane Foster becomes Thor
Ok that’s enough for now lmao
What about you guys? What do you wanna see??

E: If you wrote a sequel to Supernova, what would it be about?
OH I LIKE--
Okay so, if you've read Supernova completely, you obviously know that the bonus chapter (i.e. the post-credits scene) ends with Carol saying the words "I'm here to talk to you about the A-Force initiative" to Nova.
So that's what I'd base the sequel on. But mostly just Nova learning to accept herself with her disability and teaching others to save the universe all the time the way her parents save the world all the time. While Nova would obviously be the central character, Carol would be directly next because I feel like Carol and Nova are the same person but on opposite ends of the spectrum. (Most powerful being in the universe being perhaps a little too confident in herself or underestimating her worth) and it would be interesting to end with them meeting in the middle, having learned from each other and balancing each other out.
The sequel would also ring in other marvel characters from the comics that, at the time of Endgame, weren't part of the MCU. Like Kate Bishop. I would also look at adding characters like America Chavez and Kamala Khan. And then probably the mcu "kids" (Shuri, Cassie, Nicole FUCK WHAT AGE OF ULTRON SAID IM NOT CALLING THAT CHILD LILA AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL ALONE IF I HAVE TO, and several years later, Morgan too)
And then to spice things up I would throw in some OCs because no one has ever stopped me before jsjdjs
I can honestly imagine a Supernova sequel just being essentially a one-shots book filled with The Adventures of Nova and the A-Force in Space!! with some background plot that you don't notice unless you binged the entire thing in one go.
Peter will probably feature often.

Hi, I hope you’re doing well!! I was just wondering if you read comics? If so could you recommend some/ how to start getting into them? I want to start reading them, but it’s so stressful trying to figure out where to start. Also I love you blog!
Hi there! you’re all manners of sweet and kind thank u my advice abt approaching comics is going for solo runs first, this is how I, personally, did it and it’s way easier than jumping in on team books, or worse events bc they tend to be messier and need more bg info and pre-existing knowledge than a comic that focus on just the one character; I also feel it’s good to start with current or at least recent comics, you can always read the old stuff when you’re better acquainted with how comics work and which characters, artists and writers you like (or can tolerate).
actual recs under the cut because this got so long
i was gonna do a whole list of mcu characters’ solos because most people entry point to comics rn is superhero movies, and hmu if you want that, but instead I think I’m gonna rec you some good comics that are either separated enough from main marvel continuity as to be intelligible without extensive info gathering, or I just think they’re great and worth a bit of confusion (part of starting out reading comics is not knowing fully wth is going on sometimes, but stiking with it for some good art or for characters you love -I’m not gonna go so far as to say for good writing bc that’s just not realistic):
if you like yourself some spider-people:- silk (2015) and vol 2 (2016) are my absolute favorites- I’m not very much into spiderman but I read renew your vows  and it’s lovely,  it’s just not a main universe comic it’s an au where things are as, imo, they should be with ye old web slinger, and it’s good for getting your feet wet in the huge pool of spider-man comics;- I love miss jessica drew (spider-woman) but her solo is……. questionable if someone has a good jess drew intro rec pls tell me so I can pass it on, - miles morales has been written badly in more ways than one but I love him so I suffer, I can direct you without scruples only to his novel tho, absolutely lovely and not written by brian michaelbendis lmao- anya corazon is a really good character that marvel loves to forget it has, let’s not make the same mistake;- black widow 2014 and 2016 and bw: the name of the rose are all good comics (I know technically nat isn’t a spider person but like nothing about spider-woman’s powers screams ‘spider’ either so..
for wakanda I’d say good recent start-ups would be: - black panther (2016), - black panther: world of wakanda (w/ a lesbian couple as protag), - and rise of the black panther (ongoing)
some non x-men team books that are easier to approach as a beginner imho:-young avengers vol 2 (vol 1 has its moments if you want to start from the beginning with them but a lot of it involves the civil war arc and stuff.. also some characters die, the art is less good and I want to protect people from 17’s yo cassie lang’s nipples poking through her shirt.. I wish someone had protected me tbh) -I want to rec some Runaways but besides the current run (which is alright) there’s a lot to be said against the writing in most of the rest of them maybe vol 1? to have the origins pinned down-I feel like after a small read through of what exactly the hell was going on with secret wars you could approach A-Force vol 1 and the first half of vol 2 (the second half ties in with civil war II and I’m not touching that mess) and that and avenger world and sometimes secret avengers to me are good avengers books-she hulk 2014 and totally awesome hulk are my greens of choice but if you want an intro to bruce banner idont actually know, sorry-for the asgardians: thor 2014 and it’s follow up mighty thor, thor: god of thunder, angela: asgard’s assassin and its sequel angela: queen of hel, and loki: agent of asgard are my pick of this crop-we also have Fun here at marvel comics on occasion and both patsy walker aka hellcat and squirrel girl are nice in their own way although the latter isn’t really my thing
some follow up on the young avengers:- hawkeye (2013) an absolute fan favorite, good to discover that actually clint barton was a good character it’s that the avengers movies are just bad and hate people with disabilities- a couple of follow-ups to that (x) (x) and the kate bishop solo all pretty nice- america chavez’s solo (I’m just here to suggest gay comics, that’s almost all I read really)
I want to rec Champions to people but frankly it’s just a long series of event interruptions and bullshit interspersed with a couple of nice moments so far, so I’m gonna rec you some kids that are in the champions and have solos I haven’t already mentioned:- kamala khan’s book is probably my favorite ongoing series at marvel right now about any non-mutant char, I cannot say enough good about it,- nova is nice,- miles morales (spider-man) and amadeuscho (totally awesome hulk) are also there but I’ve already mentioned themalso in this house we love and respect elektranatchiosand any other attitude just isn’t tolerated.
on to the x-men, gotta love those guys, you just gotta:- like I said I prefer to tell people to start from recent comics but with the xmen that’s so difficult? it’s been 10+ bad years for them because of the movie rights situation and just marvel being shit in general, so my one recent team book to approach the x-men is prob x-men ‘92? because its based off of the xm animated series so you don’t have to straightaway deal with some mutant plague, eugenics plots, and other catastrophic events, but you can still get to know more of the char we all love - I want to say generation x vol 2, it’s not a good starting point for anything really but I love it so so much I had to mention it even tho it was cancelled and I’m still angry as hell about it.
the solo situation is better. I’m gonna be able to breathe without tasting my own bile while I type this, hurray!-all new wolverine follows laura kinney as she takes up the mantle from logan-iceman, good solid comic abt coming out and ice puns, who doesn’t like bobby really-jean grey, yes she’s a teen girl in this, yes it’s weird and I hate de-aging characters but it’s nice to see her train with different mutants, struggling with the incoming phoenix force and her adult self’s shadow, not really great entry point to jean grey but id read it anyway-if you were into the 00’s xmen movies like me, or at least a normal person’s amount the phoenix recently returned and with her adult!jean grey, it was a good book for me and good if you want to later start reading the actual phoenix saga (which is a lot of material so starting small with this might help) -I love wandamaximoff and despite what they’ve done to the maximoffs in order to bring them into the mcu (was it worth it for that result btw? really?) her recent book was good and I genuinely loved it -storm’s solo is so good, you’re gonna fall in love with an het ship and you’re not gonna regret it either-rogue and gambit, is ongoing and it’s good to get a little acquainted with these characters but mostly it’s about explorign their relationship
I’m sure I’m forgetting a lot of good x-men content atm but I can’t stop thinking I need to mention that there are ongoing series you could pick up its just.. I hate them.. some started out promising (xmen gold, astonishing xmen), but they’ve not developed in good directions imo, but I still feel they should be mentioned, there’s also a weapon x comic if you want to go for a more bloody kind of book and xmen blue if you like time displaced teens or something? god its bad
jeez this is so so long and guess what? I haven’t even finished yet.. there’s some excellent indie comics out there and with those you really don’t need to worry abt knowing any 30 years old lore or anything you pick them up and they explain themselves like any other normal media out there, I know, be still my heart:
- lumberjanes is my absolute favorite, a little corny, but so much fun and cuteness and if I could go back in time I’d give it to my little bi self so she’d know she’s not alone and anything I feel that ways about has a special place i my heart js
- Motor crush, there really isn’t any other comic book with a black lesbian as protagonist out there that I can think of, good if you’re into motorcycles but if like in my case that threatens to put you to sleep, it also has a sci-fi streak and solid character work, you won’t regret giving it a try
- moonstruck, cute non-white gay werewolves and other mythological creatures are there, I feel this cathers to me specifically every time I open it?? bless
- Hi-Fi fight club or heavy vinyl (they changed the title) if you want a period piece that’s fun and cute and gay (I meant it about me reading only gay comics as you can tell)
- saga, for a space, well ya know.. saga I feel that I can describe it as romeo and juliet in space with added racial commentary except they don’t kill themselves, I have to say not my favorite but you might stick with it for the characters, I sure do
- the wicked + the divine, I feel very much the same about this as I do about saga, only this is mythology based so like.. I sold my soul to it, but please do tread with care there’s a lot of deaths in it and so many of these dead people are gays and/or poc.. I’m none too pleased about it and I’d understand anyone not wanting to pick it up, I mean the deaths are basically in the premises of the books but that doesn’t change the end result..
lastly like I said dc is not my area of expertise but I’ve been following with pleasure both batwoman and green lanterns, and mr miracle was an amazing comic so I thought I’d mention them

Do you think Blindspot might actually be one of the next Marvel characters to pick up the torch from an existing hero? Especially with recent events in the book, it seems like if ever there was anyone who would jump into the Daredevil suit for a while, it'd be Sam.
It seems very likely, yes. Marvel is in the middle of a giant initiative to create and promote legacy characters (an aspect of the superhero world that DC has traditionally dominated), with Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Sam Wilson/Captain America, Amadeus Cho/Hulk, X-23/Wolverine, Miles Morales/Spidey, Jane Foster/Thor, Kate Bishop/Hawkeye, Pei/Iron Fist, America Chavez, Riri Williams, etc. etc. ad infinitum all either headlining or co-headlining their own series. And Sam is clearly being crafted in Matt’s image– though fortunately, not literally this time…
Tumblr media
[Ultimate Comics Avengers vol. 3 #1 by Mark Millar, Steve Dillon, and Matt Hollingsworth]
(Meet poor Ray Connor, cursed by lazy character design to look exactly like Matt Murdock.)
We’re excited about this possibility, and not just because we’re really loving Sam. They’ve tried to create a Daredevil legacy in the past, but always via alternate universes and never in any lasting way (Ray in Ultimates, Tim Urich in End of Days, Darkdevil in the Spider-Girl universe…), and it’s something we’ve always thought would be fun to integrate into the main continuity. With Sam, we finally have that opportunity. Sam is similar enough to Matt (especially now) that he could continue the tone and legacy of the Daredevil persona, while still being his own person, free to take the comic in new and interesting directions and to put his own mark on the Marvel universe.
Tumblr media
Sam: “This guy’s a judge. If he found out I was a vigilante, he’d probably deport me. Why should I die for him? Hell, why should I even fight for him? I just wanted to help my neighborhood. Save my people from Tenfingers. Save my mom…”
[Daredevil vol. 5 #13 by Charles Soule, Ron Garney, and Matt Milla]
It would take a massive upheaval to make Matt to put away the tights– especially now, after he’s uprooted his entire life for the sake of restoring his secret identity. And with all of the current hype from the Netflix series, we can’t imagine Marvel would kill him. But we could definitely see Sam continuing to work alongside him in a sidekick/partnership position for a long time, maybe filling in as Daredevil temporarily if something were to happen to Matt, probably joining some teams before too long, and then eventually taking over as DD in a real (if not permanent– Marvel is very attached to their older characters) way.

The (non) Fridging of one Ms. Emma Frost.
For our initial offering, dear followers, we bring you our thoughts on the sad, tragic, and sadly unnecessary, fate of one Ms. Emma Frost at the end of the sordid, editorially driven to the ground, non-event Inhumans vs. X-Men.
We wanted to get some distance from the events of this installment before putting down our thoughts to keyboard about…well there’s really no better way to say it…the character rape-ification that happened to Emma on IvX # 6.  So now a few days later. I think our thoughts have settled.
One of the most awful truisms in life is the notion of having to take one’s own advice.  It sucks.  Particularly when it comes to comics.  We’re usually the one to tell folks, right after their favorite characters get nuked because some writer thinks awful writing choices means ‘genius’ or something, that one of the only constants in our hobby/culture/life is the constancy of change.  Status quos last only rarely and even something seemingly permanent can be rebirthed, rebooted, forgiven, recast, retconned, whatever.  That’s a long winded way of saying that…even though things are bleak at the moment, to quote Avenue Q, ‘this is only for now’.  We know it’s small, fleeting comfort fellow Emma fans.  We feel you.  But…it’s the only silver lining we can see emerging from this hot mess of a fucked up sitch we’re in right now. It’s hard to swallow.  We find it difficult to accept it at times still.  At the end of the day though, I think it’s also important to assess and realize that look, at the end of day, and as much as we all love her, she is just a fictional character.  Her status quo now, as awful as it is, hasn’t killed anyone (as far as I know) or made the Trump regime even worse (again as far as I know).  So we’re ok.
So now that the table-setting is out of the way…let’s get on with the nitty gritty.  We’re not gonna summarize the plot of IvX, as that’s available plenty of other places.  And if you’ve read the story…well you know.
We’re not unhappy about Emma’s reversion to an out and out villain.  Honestly, after the events of Death of X and the earlier installments of IvX, any other kind of conclusion, or hell even having her returned to the X-Fold wouldn’t make much story sense.  Lemire and Soule have laid down enough story real estate that having it end any other way than that would just be silly or horribly contrived.  And you know what? That’s fine.  That’s totally fine.  Why not? It might even be interesting.  What would an anti-hero Emma, skirting on the darker sides of the gray lines she already inhabits, look like? What would an Emma-ized notion of Magneto’s previous ideology look like?  Would that even be her motivation?  Or would it just be (and to us far more interesting plot-wise and commentary wise on the X-franchise as a whole) more of Emma finally saying ‘FUCK IT’ to all the endless thumb-twiddling the X-folks have been doing ever since Bendis took over?  Or hell, she can just go full on Black Cat and just be an international jewel thief coz she is so sick and done with the X-Men’s perennially regressive approach to things and the endless Uncle Tom-ing they all seem to be doing lately.  All of these options are cool to us and they would be interesting to read about.
But that isn’t what we got.  What we got instead is Emma literally assuming the identity of the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (also known as Cyclop’s secondary mutation, seriously man, you should check that, it is a serious condition), and without the wit or awesome musical numbers that you get from the CW show.  Her motivation for turning the heel is literally, and we wave our fist to the sky as we type this, ‘my boyfriend died and I’m nothing without him’.  A notion that Soule (and Lemire too? It isn’t clear which of these two editorial puppets came up with the notion, though most seem to argue that it’s Soule) ratchets up to a level beyond creepy when he has Emma don an outfit THAT LITERALLY IS HER PUTTING ON HER EX-BOYFRIENDS SKIN.  What in the fuckity fuck fuck fuck is this?  How/why does this make sense?  As many other fans (and non fans) have said…we are talking about a woman who a) watched many iterations of her students die b) survived the 9/11-ing of Genosha by Sentinels (more on that FUCKITY FUCK plot point in a little bit) c) killed her sister for killing one of her students d) lost her brother, whom she cared for deeply to insanity because of an abusive father e) literally started from the bottom to build up a massive financial empire.  We can go on.  The point is, in the grand scheme of traumas that Emma has experienced, losing Scott would probably just amount to a small paper cut.  The fact (that Soule and Lemire forgot about?) that she and Scott ALREADY BROKE UP BEFORE DEATH OF X makes the notion of this crazy, stupid love even more ridiculous. Also, remember, in her diamond form, she is supposed to feel nothing, NOTHING, now let’s go back to IvX and count how many times Emma assumes her diamond form... bored of counting already? This characterization of Emma as jilted lover, turned all the way up to level 100 gazillion, is just idiotic writing borne out of some editorial mandate.
And look ok, fine, let’s make Emma unstable.  Sure, why not, we can go there too.  But seriously? You’re going to show that by having the woman who, when she got god-like Phoenix powers (which, by the way also maybe made her a little crazy?) MADE IT HER FIRST PRIORITY TO LITERALLY DESTROY EVERY SENTINEL ON THE PLANET.  How does this even fucking work?  If Emma is really all ID now and she’s gone off the rails, and is now doing whatever the fuck she wants…why in the hell would she want to create Sentinels?  It makes no sense….even if the aim was to show her instability.  It also lacks the kind of deeper, elegant hurt that she’s capable of and prefers to inflict.  This Sentinel shit is amateur fucking hour, and she is anything but.  See, for contrast, the way she handled Laura’s previous handler Kimura.  That wasn’t the kind of mustache twirling fuckery we got handed.  That was Emma going for the elegant kind of pain: one that’s long lasting and deliciously poetic.  If Emma is going to be a baddie, then that’s the kind of next level shit they need to show her being capable of, not this two-bit hysterical monologuing bullshit we got.  Cullenn Bunn has stated in a recent CBR X-Position that Ems will be playing a big role in X-Men Blue.  Now, we trust Bunn, he does good work, particularly with anti-heroes like Magneto and Sabretooth...perhaps he can salvage something from this horrible situation.
Making Emma the big bad of ResurrXion, the next Magneto, now that Magneto is a hero (at least this week), is all fine and dandy. But do it well. Make it meaningful. It takes about 2 panels for her to kill hundreds of inhumans. Almost as a side note. Those panels are going to define her as a genocidal villain for the rest of her days, the same way Hank Pym has been defined by a single panel that was not even scripted.
Why is all this happening? Why did it have to happen this way?  Our completely unscientific (and admittedly conspiracy theory-leaning) argument is that it all has to do with nostalgia.  RessurXion seems to be banking on regressing everything back to the 90s…the time when the X-Men were walking around in tights, constantly playing baseball, and involved in 30 plus year subplots that don’t ever get resolved.  And look, there’s nothing wrong with that.  But, why does that shiny new reboot have to be bought and paid for by throwing both Cyclops and Emma under the bus?  Why does this have to come at the price of wiping away so much of  the compelling additions that the Scott/Emma era of the X-franchise created? The notion of mutants as a tribe, as one people; of mutants being an actual political minority that exists in the larger Marvel firmament; the notion of an X-character, who not only is a compelling, multi-layered female character, who doesn’t go for the usual liberal/assimilative platitudes the X-People usually spout.  Why does all this need to be wiped away?  Are the new writers just not good enough to create something that the nostalgic mouthbreathing focus groups want (and is this even a real demographic? Who exactly did this development please? Other than godawful Jean partisans and non-intelligent comic readers?) while being respectful of and keeping (mostly) intact the import of stories that have already been told.  The fact that what happened happened feels like a slap in the face to all the fans who are rightly asking these questions.
Secondly….we think this development also owes a lot to the kind of demographic Marvel is targeting, and the kind of female characters that that demographic is interested in reading and supporting.  That is, the kind of female character who is a modified distillation of the manic, pixie dreamgirl: spunky, ‘strong’, sexual (to a degree), feminist (to a degree, but also only in a very specific second wave kind of a way)  and of course have to be tumblrflower, Bleeding Cool and Mary Sue approved, lest the wrath of twitter be provoked.  I’m talking of characters like America Chavez, Kamala Khan, Kate Bishop and Carol Danvers.  Strong, feminist, etc. But, not threatening, not overtly sexual, not swagger-y, and god forbid, not sexual only for the sake of sex; they are the equivalent of Boy Bands in the 90′s and early 00′s, attractive, easy to sell, tame. Remember She-Hulk being a strong woman with a brilliant career, kicking ass and taking names, having sexual fantasies with fellow Avengers in the 90′s? well, that She-Hulk is also gone.  After Civil War 2, poor Jen is being written as a very mousey Millennial...who’s afraid of her own power and strength.  Seeing a pattern already?
Emma, in our view, represents one of the last few fabulously written female characters that counters this second-wave feminist tendency in current comic writing/production of female characters.  She has an unproblematic relationship with sex for pleasure and she isn’t here to make you feel good about your goddamned feminist struggle or your sophomoric need for representation.  And for that, she had to be punished and made the bogeywoman of all the twitter warriors who insist that female characters be feminist-strong…but only in the way that they find palatable and ‘relatable’.  I’ve always been very aware that Marvel is a business (a point I belabor to anyone who thinks Marvel OWES them something)…and of course they have to go where the money is.  But, it doesn’t make this direction for Emma, or the character assassination she and we have endued, any more palatable.
Which brings us full circle to the essay’s title.  She may still be alive, walking around the Marvel U in an outfit that can only be described as ‘too garish, even for pre-Joanne Lady Gaga’, but for all intents and purposes, Emma Frost has been fridged.  Not physically, and in a way this is even far more cruel to her fans.  They could have just taken her away from us cleanly, ending her story, not in the best of places, but at least it would have ended (for now) and we can go on, missing her, but at least with the comfort that it couldn’t get any worse.  But that isn’t what happened.  Instead, they took her away from us, one sordid, horribly mandated development at a time, until all that’s left is this ghoul-caricature of a character, walking around; sapped of all of her vitality and that je ne sais quoi that made her so unique, endlessly compelling, and the source of such pure comic joy.  That woman is long gone.  And what’s in her place now is just a zombie that Soule and Lemire should have just put out of her misery.
It’s fine that Marvel needed an X-Men reboot.  Hell, in many ways as a fan, I might have welcome it with much more enthusiasm than my tepid ‘oh great I guess I’m obligated to read it’ feeling that I’m having right now.  If only, this shiny new future for the merry mutants didn’t have to bought with the merciless, cruel, and absolutely unnecessary, and far worse, character fridging of one Emma Frost.
At least, we’ll always have the trades fellow Emma fans.
Keep the faith.
We’re hanging on with you.
