A/N: Well, here it is! As I currently have it planned, this will be seven parts, so we're officially past the halfway point now. This part's a little shorter, but I'm hoping you'll think it's worth it.
Big thanks to @drabblewithfrannybarnes for helping me nail down the new character here! (If you don't remember doing that Carly, it's because it was ages ago 🤣)
Any comment, reblog, or ask to let me know what you think will be greatly appreciated. Even if it's just screaming at me. 😄 As always, thank you so much for reading! 💜

The drive to the restaurant was uncomfortable. Or maybe it wasn’t. Maybe it was just you. Sitting in the backseat alone, while Curtis and Jensen quietly conversed in the front, you felt ridiculous. You should learn how to drive. You were a grown woman who couldn’t even get herself anywhere—just another way you didn’t know how to be responsible for yourself.
You stared at Curtis in the front seat. It’d been a few weeks since your boundaries conversation. You hadn’t spoken to him much since. He was right. It was better. Cleaner. But you missed being able to talk to him.
Something had changed about the way he watched you though. You would swear that it was more intense now, the way his eyes followed you around the room. And it always seemed like he had something to say, he’d just never say it. He didn’t make any sense.
You took a breath. You were nervous about this lunch. You weren’t entirely sure what the purpose of it was, aside from the fact that Marnie Reynolds had wanted to meet. You hadn’t seen her in years and then she just texted you out of the blue two days ago, asking if you wanted to have lunch. You assumed she was going to pitch you something. Why else would she want to talk? You hoped it’d be something easy to agree to. It would make Wilford and Tanya feel better if someone actively wanted to work with you, at the very least.
The restaurant wasn’t the kind of place you normally went to. It was nice, but tucked away, not designed for those who wanted to see and be seen. Marnie had chosen it. She was waiting for you at a small table in the back, even more private. She stood as you approached and enveloped you in a warm hug. She was just as glamorous as you remembered, suddenly hit by memories of sitting in her trailer while she let you try on her jewelry. She’d always been so nice to you. “Oh, honey, it’s so good to see you,” she said as you both sat down.
You smiled and nodded. “It’s good to see you, too. How are you?”
“Oh, good, good,” she said with a big smile. “Just got back from a shoot in Greece. Happy to be home.” Her eyes lost a little of their luster as she asked, “How are you, darling?”
“Oh, I’m fine,” you said. You could tell she wanted you to say more, but you just nodded and shrugged.
“Well,” she looked at you carefully, “I can’t get over how grown up you are. I know it’s silly, but I think I’ll always see you as the sixteen-year-old I met at the table read ten years ago.”
“You and all of America,” you said dryly before you could think better of it.
Instead of chastising you, she just nodded. “I’m very grateful I didn’t have to grow up so publicly and then have to make that transition to being an adult. I can’t imagine how hard that is.”
You shrugged again. You didn’t really know what to say to her.
“Which, speaking of, I owe you an apology.”
Panic rose in your chest. Oh, god. Had she sold a story about you? Said something private in an interview? Blocked you from a new role? You weren’t sure you could handle one more thing right now. “Oh?” you asked shakily.
She nodded, seriously. “I should have done a better job of keeping in touch with you after we’d finished the movie. I owed you that much. I’m sorry.”
You furrowed your brow, confused.  “That’s fine. You’ve been so busy. I didn’t really expect you to remember me. I mean, you won an Oscar. I know how much work that takes.”
“Mmm,” she said, “and you sent me flowers.”
You shrugged. You just kept shrugging. “Well, you were always kind to me, and I was so happy for you. It seemed like the least I should do.”
“You were always so sweet. I’m so happy to see that hasn’t changed.”
At the sincerity on her face, you looked down at your menu. You didn’t know what to say to that.
“How’s your mom?” she asked, her tone strangely cautious. “Is she still your manager?”
“Oh, no. Wilford helped me get a new one when I turned 18. He thought I needed someone more experienced.”
She let out a breath, almost like she was relieved. “I have to admit, I’m happy to hear that.” You gave her a confused look and she continued softly, “She was always so hard on you. It was part of why I always invited you to my trailer. It seemed like you could really use a break from her.” She gave you another impossibly warm smile. “Plus, you were such great company. I loved making that movie with you.”
You couldn’t hide your relief when the server chose that moment to take your orders. You didn’t know what to do with the fondness in Marnie’s eyes.
Once you were both done ordering, you decided you were ready to talk business. “So, what’s the project?” you asked.
She looked confused. “Project?”
“Uh, yeah. Whatever you wanted to pitch me? The reason you asked me here.”
“Oh, honey, no, I’m sorry. There’s no project. I just wanted to see you.”
That didn’t make sense. That she didn’t want to work with you again made sense. No one did, so of course she didn’t either. But then why else were you here? “I don’t understand,” you said quietly.
She let out a sad little sigh. “I’ve seen some of what’s been going on with you, online, and it just seems like you need a friend. I want to be that for you. I think about you more than you know.”
“Oh,” was all you managed to say.
She grabbed your hand over the table. “There’s so much going on for you right now. I can’t imagine how hard it must be, and then to have to deal with it in public too.”
You didn’t say anything, just looked at your joined hands on the table. Then, finally, still looking down, “Uh, yeah. I’m having a pretty hard time.”
She squeezed your hand. “I’m so sorry. I’m here to listen if you ever want to talk about it.”
You finally looked up and nodded, but didn’t say anything else. You weren’t sure you could.
She looked at you carefully. “Have you thought about taking a break at all?”
You were reminded of Curtis, sitting on your couch, looking at you so earnestly, talking about taking a year off. You shook the image out of your head. “No,” you said. “It isn’t a good time. My reputation isn’t great right now, so I need to get back out there and show people that I can do the work. I need to fix it.”
“Mmm,” she hummed, “that sounds like agent speak.”
“Well,” you shrugged, “he’s right.”
“Remember, though,” she said, slowly, “that you’re a person, too. Not just a career.”
You just looked at her, blankly. Your career had been the most important thing about you since you were nine years old. You didn’t know how to separate the two. Luckily, that was when the server returned with your food, and Marnie graciously took it as a sign to take over the conversation for the rest of your meal. She talked about the movie she’d just finished, how her kids were doing, and the large garden she was planting at home. It was nice. You couldn’t remember the last time you’d had a meal out with a friend like this.
Still, you left the restaurant feeling raw and restless. You weren’t sure what to do with that conversation, the hard parts of it. The way she looked at you like she actually saw you. There was an itch in you now that just made you want to run.
Instead, as soon as you got home, you poured yourself a glass of sangria from the pitcher your housekeeper kept in your fridge and took the latest script Wilford had sent you onto your deck. You could feel Curtis watching you as you moved through the glass doors. That was his job, you told yourself. It was just his job.
Tumblr media
The script fucking sucked. It was awful. The opposite of what you wanted to do. But you knew what Wilford would say. Beggars can’t be choosers. This was your fault. You were the one who’d destroyed your reputation. You had to be the one to fix it. And if making shit like this would fix it, then that’s what you had to do. Too many people relied on you for you not to do whatever you could, take whatever paychecks you could get. You hated it. You hated it so much. But you would do it.
You picked up your phone. You hadn’t realized how much time had passed. It was well into the evening now. There was a text from Michelle an hour ago, letting you know she’d left. And a few minutes ago, one from Nikki, a girl you partied with sometimes, that just said ‘Fuck them both!’
What the hell did that mean? Panic began to crawl up your throat and your hands started to shake as you typed your name into Google and clicked on News. Your stomach dropped.  Johnny Storm, that snowboarder you’d barely dated over a year ago, apparently had a podcast now. And the latest episode, posted that day, featured Colin Shea as its guest. Shit. Fuck. You couldn’t even look at what they’d said. There was no point. It was all just the same old bullshit.
You felt tears start to prick at your eyes. Why couldn’t everyone just leave you the fuck alone? You weren’t even that interesting. How could they possibly have anything to talk about?
Fuck that, you thought, as you stormed back into your house. You distantly registered Curtis calling after you, but you didn’t pay any attention. You were too focused. You headed straight up to your bedroom. They wanted something to talk about? You’d fucking give it to them! You charged into your closet and grabbed the sluttiest, shiniest dress you had. Fuck yeah. You could do this. You would be exactly who they wanted you to be. If they wanted a show so fucking badly, you’d give them one.
You ran back downstairs, looking for a particular pair of earrings that a costar had given you as a wrap gift a couple of years ago – huge dangly ones that said Fuck on one ear and You on the other. There was nothing subtle about what you were going for tonight.
You’d have to think of someone to call, too. Someone suitable for the kind of scene you wanted to make, the kind of big mistake you wanted to fall into. You were so fucking tired of holding it all together. You were done. Your mind immediately landed on Lucas Lee, your costar in that dumb action movie last year. He was awful but so hot. Nothing but trouble and always up for whatever. Perfect.
As you entered your living room, your eyes landed on one of your jewelry boxes on the coffee table. There they were! As you picked up the box, you realized Curtis was sitting by himself on the couch. You saw him take in your short, sparkly dress and grimace. You weren’t in the mood to analyze it. “I’m going out,” you announced. “Have Jensen get the car ready.”
You were already moving through, headed back upstairs when you heard Curtis rasp, “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
You turned on a dime. “Excuse me?”
“I think,” he said slowly, so calmly you wanted to break something, “that going out right now, in the sort of mood you’re clearly in, would be a very bad idea.”
What the actual fuck? “Since when,” you asked, your voice quiet with seething anger, “is it your job to tell me what to do?”
He shook his head and you didn’t know how to react to how sad he looked. “I’m not telling you to do anything. I’m asking you to stay home tonight. For your own safety, which very much is my job.”
You just stared at him, dumbfounded. You didn’t understand him. He told you you weren’t friends. He was the one who said he was just your bodyguard. So what the hell was he doing now?
In the moment you stood frozen, just staring at him, he took a cautious step forward. “Did something happen?” he asked barely above a whisper.
You shook your head furiously. You felt like you could barely form words. You were so angry and lost, and scared, and sad, and confused. You were feeling more than you thought your body could contain. And you knew, you knew, the only way to get these feelings out would be to go out and get as wild as you could. And here Curtis was, not letting you. You were afraid you were going to explode. “That’s fine,” you finally got out, ignoring his question. “You don’t have to come with me. Jake neither. I’ll get a fucking Uber.” You took a step towards the opening of the room. “Go home Jake!” you shouted through the house. “I won’t need you tonight!”
Curtis sighed your name. “I’m not going to let you go out by yourself,” he said firmly.
You threw your hands in the air. “Then make up your goddamn mind!”
Jake appeared in the doorway, looking confused and Curtis turned to him. You took the opportunity to get back to the safety of your room, leaving your security detail to figure their shit out. Once back in your room, you dug through the jewelry box until you found the earrings you were looking for. You heard your back door open and close. Good. Jake, at least, was gone. You knew Curtis would be harder, but you were fucking determined.
Just as you were opening Uber on your phone, Curtis appeared in your doorway. “What,” you growled.
“Would you just listen to me for a minute?!” He said, not quite a yell, but not not that either, as he barged into your room. All of his practiced calm from downstairs was completely gone. “Something bad is going to happen if you go out tonight! It is, I know it is. And I know you can feel it too!”
“Why do you care?!” You shouted at him. “No one else does! Why do you care so much?!”
“You know why!” he shouted back, and took another step toward you, but then suddenly stopped. Much, much quieter, much softer, and with eyes so pleading, he said “You must know.”
You didn’t. You really don’t think you knew until that moment, when the realization slammed into you. Every look, every sigh, all of the moments of him that hadn’t made sense. You took a step back. “What?” you breathed, barely realizing that you were shaking.
He took a step forward to follow you, then stopped. He opened his mouth to say something, but you shook your head at him. “No,” you said. “You can’t.”
“I can’t?!” he asked, incredulous and upset again.
“No!” you shouted, but it was so much weaker now. “I just– Why would– I’m such a fucking mess!” You were starting to cry, the adrenaline of the last half-hour finally leaking out of you, replaced by that same bone-deep exhaustion that you’d had for too long. “I barely have a high school education. I don’t know how to do anything for myself. No one wants to work with me. I am barely keeping it together and everyone knows it. I’m a trainwreck! Why would you–” You couldn’t bring yourself to say the words that you knew he meant. “Why would you have feelings for someone like that?”
The sadness was back in his face. You looked away, unable to bear it. In your periphery, you saw him take a cautious step forward, then pause. When you made no move to run, he eliminated the distance between you, standing directly in front of you. He slowly, gently, carefully brought one hand up to touch your face, caressing your cheek with his thumb. “I know,” he said, voice barely above a whisper. “I know all that and I still love you. Because I also know that somehow, despite everything, you are one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met. You are so kind. And thoughtful. You let everyone see your soft spots, even when all they do is hurt you. You have every reason to be awful or bitter or mean or any of a thousand things. But you aren’t. It’s all of it, it’s all of those things and the ones you said too. All of it together, that’s why I love you. I love you because you’re you.”
You wanted to sob. No one had ever said anything remotely like that to you before. Not anyone in your family, or a single one of your exes. No one had ever cared enough to say any of that. Except for Curtis. He’d always cared, hadn’t he? Since that first day he’d showed up, when you’d been so scared about the possibility of a stalker, he’d taken such care with you. He was the most caring, thoughtful, beautiful person you knew. You took a deep breath and looked into his eyes.  You could see his worry, but also the deep conviction with which he’d just said all that to you. You couldn’t help yourself anymore. You surged forward and you kissed him.
He made a noise of surprise—you didn’t know how he could possibly be surprised after all that—but after just a moment he was kissing you back, bringing both hands up to cradle your head. You were getting your tears all over him, but he didn’t seem to care. He was soft and gentle and passionate. You needed more. You needed all of him.
You took a step back, breaking the kiss. You did what you could to brush the tears off your face. You grabbed the bottom of your dress and pulled it over your head, then tossed it on the floor. You stood in front of him in the lingerie you’d picked out to fuck Lucas Lee of all people and couldn’t understand how you’d ever been able to think about anyone but Curtis. But you did know how when you stopped to think about it. You’d never been able to fathom that you might deserve this man. That he might actually want you.
He stared at you. “Fuck,” he whispered. You’re–” you braced yourself for what might come next. So hot or fucking sexy. You’d even gotten beautiful once or twice. He only took a second before he finished his sentence “–incredible,” with such awe on his face that you actually felt your knees go weak. You had to look away. He was too much.
He took your face in his hands again and placed a soft, short kiss on your lips. “But would it be ok if we slowed down?” he asked.
You couldn’t keep the disappointment out of your voice. “Why?”
“This is real for me,” he said. “And if we do this, I want it to be real for you too. I want you to be sure. And for now,” he stroked one thumb over your cheekbone, “right now I just want to hold you. Is that alright? If I just hold you tonight?”
You didn’t know how to respond to that. Sex had always been the best, most important part of any of your relationships. It’d been the biggest thing that any of your previous partners had wanted from you. You weren’t sure you knew how to do it any other way. But he was holding you so gently, looking at you so softly, all you could do was nod.
He kissed you once more. Then stepped back and started to take off his clothes. You made your way to your bed and got in, watching him as he shed his clothes. He really was the most beautiful man you’d ever seen. Nothing on any movie set you’d ever been on, any party you’d ever been to could compare to him.
Once he was down to just his boxers, he crawled in next to you and pulled you close. Your lips touched his shoulder as you asked, barely audible, “You really love me?”
He kissed your forehead. “Yes,” he whispered. “I really love you.”

Series master list right here
"Mom, you know I've never met this man before, right?", you said with a slightly worried tone, your mother gives you an exasperated sigh and walked her way over to you, gripping your shoulders.
"Honey please, I just got married, I don't understand why you can't be happy for me this once.", you wrapped your arms around her neck and hugged your mother, she was right, you needed to see the best in this situation right now.
"I'm sorry mom, I am happy for you, it's just a lot to adjust to right now.", You gave your mother a slight smile and pulled away from her.
She gave you a smile back and responded, "oh I think you'll be okay; he has a son around your age, he's adopted but I think you two would like each other."
The smile on your face widened a little bit, your mouth opened once again to speak, but came to an abrupt stop as you saw an unfamiliar man stand behind your mother and give her a slight peck on the head.
Your mother giggled slightly and stepped back to stand by the man, "Honey, this is Andy, Andy this is my daughter.", your mother said as she spilled out your name back to the man beside her.
Andy unwrapped his arm around your mother's shoulder, and walked towards you, opening his arms forward to embrace you in a hug. This caught you off guard because for someone you just met, he seemed to be a little too touchy with you, but you thought nothing more of it, thinking it might just be the way your new stepfather expresses his feelings.
"It is so nice to finally meet you sweetie, I've heard so much about you." Andy said with a wide grin on his face, as he held you a little too tight for your own comfort.
As Andy was speaking to you, nodding your head once in a while at his banter. You heard a voice faintly behind Andy come closer.
"Dad, when will you let Colin come over, I'm fucking dying too actually-who is that?", you looked to see a younger guy with a buzzcut, and light blue eyes come out from behind Andy to get another good look at you.
Andy took a deep breath and gave a slight glare to the boy who shoved past him to you "Johnny, this is-", Andy was quickly stopped in the middle of his introduction when Johnny decided to introduce himself to you first.
"I'm Johnny, Johnny Storm, but you can call me whatever you like sweets", Johnny said with a smug grin as he took a step closer to you, and you instinctively took a step back from the muscular man, mumbling out an "okay.." and you adverted your gaze down to your feet.
It seemed a little rude once you actually processed what you just said, making yourself seem passive and unwelcoming, but for some reason you just felt shy around both of these new men, men that are now a part of your family, men that you are now permanently living with.
Johnny chuckled and continued to try to keep the conversation alive, even though his father stood sternly right behind him. Andy quickly shut down his next spill of flirtatious chatter when he saw how visibly uncomfortable you looked.
"Johnny, this is your new stepsister, don't be disrespectful.", Andy said with a warning, but Johnny just nodded and shrugged him off, giving you a playful wink and walking away with a slight skip, boosting himself over the curve of the driveway.
"Sorry about him, he just never runs out of energy ya know?" Andy says with a slight chuckle at the end. You smiled slightly and gave him a nod of reassurance.
"It's perfectly fine, doesn't bother me." You said quietly before adverting your gaze from him once again.
"Well, if he does, just come tell me and I'll go talk to him, I'd hate it if you felt uncomfortable in any way." Andy said with a slightly sympathetic look on his face.
Your mother took an earful of this moment, and decided to express her love for it "Oh Andy, you're too sweet, we both appreciate whatever you do for us."
Andy smiled brightly, still keeping his eyes glued to you, "Just doing what anyone would do" he responded.
💼
After a long day of moving boxes and making conversation, your social battery seemed to run out completely, wanting nothing more than to lay in bed and finally relax. Except it was only 3 in the afternoon.
With a lot of procrastination, you finally got out of bed and decided to dig through the fridge to find something to drink, making your way to the kitchen, until you heard a knock at the front door.
Thats weird? You weren't expecting anyone, maybe it's just one of those people who give out pamphlets about polar bears for no reason.
Making your way over to the door hesitantly, deciding if you really want to stand in the doorway and talk about how you can stop global warming for 30 minutes, but there also was a chance that it was actually somebody important.
Twisting the knob and opening the door to find a decently attractive man who looked to be around Johnny's age standing patiently. He twisted his head towards you and raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"Well, you're not Johnny." the man said with a slight smile on his face, and you nodded in agreement before responding.
"Um, if you're here for him, I guess you can come in." you responded as you took a step back to let him enter. He chuckled, walking past you to stand next to you as the door shut.
"Thanks sweetheart, I don't think I've met you before, I'm sure I would've remembered a cutie like you", he said playfully as your cheeks heat up slightly at the sudden comment.
"I-um, no we haven't met before, I think Johnny is in his room." You responded quickly before trying to walk away.
"Wait, hold on, I didn't get your name." the man said as he chased after you slightly, and you mumbled out your name slightly, waiting for him to reciprocate the action.
"Oh right, I'm Colin." You nodded once again.
"Nice to meet you, Colin.", deciding to try and end the conversation here so you could continue scavenging for a drink.
"Ok, ok, I can get a hint, I'll see you around sweetheart." He said as he gave you a wink before walking away.
What was weird about that is he kind of acts the same way Johnny does, but maybe that's why they're friends, of course people like other people that are similar to them, you felt stupid once you actually thought about it.
💼
Once you made your way into the kitchen, finally getting one step closer to what you wanted, except Andy was also in the kitchen leaning on the kitchen counter nursing a beer that he put down almost immediately at your presence.
"Honey, you scared me, did you need something?" He said and let out a sigh of relief that it was just you.
"I came to get a drink." You responded simply, just like the rest of you, Boring and simple.
"Of course..but could I talk to you about something honey, I just want to make sure there's no tension between us." He said softly, pushing himself off of the counter and towards you.
You gave Andy a nod of reassurance to continue, settling for a bottle of water as you sat down on the bar stool, right across where Andy was standing.
"I know your shy sweetie, but I want to let you know that you can tell me anything, your mother told me about your father, and I think it's important that you have a man in your life, someone that can take care of you honey, all of your wants and needs." Andy said softly, walking around the counter to stand behind you.
Your eyes widened as he rubbed circles on your back, your mother hasn't mentioned your father in years to you. She knows it's a sensitive subject for you to talk about, you doubt that your mother wouldn't have mentioned that to Andy.
"I-um-I don't really like to talk about my dad." you said with a slight tremble in your voice as you felt your throat get tighter, and your eyes get glassy with tears.
Your father died when you were only 9 but it felt like yesterday to you. Of course, you miss him, but you would rather not talk about it then mourn him every day.
Andy saw your eyes start to water, and your muscles start to tense. He just cooed at you lovingly, his hand moved off your back and moved directly behind you to wrap his arms around your shoulders.
"Oh sweetie, I know it's hard to talk about your feelings, but I want you to trust me, so I can be a good daddy and take care of you, don't you want that?" Andy said quietly while resting his chin on your shoulder.
Lost for words was one thing, you felt dumb, talking to you like a child, but deep down you found it strangely comforting. Andy walked back in front of you and grabbed your chin, tilting your head up softly with his fingers.
"You're my special little girl, I want you to know that honey." Andy added, while stroking your face like it was the most delicate thing in the world.
Trying to avoid eye contact with him was hard because than you couldn't help but feel tears run down your cheeks, maybe you did feel like Andy actually cared about you.
Andy suddenly pulled you closer to his chest while shushing you, pecking the top of your head once in a while. Hearing a faint noise of chatter coming closer to you made your head perk up with warning, you didn't want to anybody to see you cry today, especially over something you should've got over years ago.
"Hey dad I-what happened?" Johnny said as he skipped in the kitchen nosily, Colin standing right beside him, watching the scene unfold in front of him.
Looking from Andy's chest in embarrassment, watching the three men surrounding you, well mostly two in concern. This made more anxiety pump up in your chest and suddenly you darted down the hallway to your bedroom, where you should have stayed all along.
Ignoring the faint calls for your name and shutting the door behind you. Locking it and sliding down against your wall, finally letting all the sobs you've been keeping in until now. Great, now you won't hear the end of it tomorrow. Maybe a new family wasn't such a great idea after all.
A/n: It's been a minute since I posted ya'll, but I also just had a random urge to write a series with four hot men in it. Part two will be coming soon!

His shirt was gone, Colin was sure of it. He had spent more time searching for the stupid piece of fabric than he’d liked to admit. Where had it gone? Had he misplaced it in his apartment? He wasn’t that messy. Had someone stolen it? Who would steal just a shirt and leave everything else behind?
There was no explanation for Colin why he couldn’t find the damn thing. Not that he didn’t have anything else to wear. He wanted to wear this shirt in particular. It was one of his favorites and – call him superstitious – it was his lucky shirt.
With a huff, he gave up. There was no finding it and he had a feeling that it wouldn’t be found in his apartment either. Not particularly happy at the prospect of having to wear something else, Colin went for his second most valued shirt and pulled it on.
Because running late also wasn’t an option today. Not if he wanted to get on the good side of his band members and keep his wallet from being depleted. He had to buy them drinks for being late one too many times already.
Turned out that all he needed to find his shirt was to leave his apartment. There in the hallway nowhere else than on her.
“Morning Colin,” she called out as he pulled the door closed behind him.
“Morning–” he stopped, startled by her choice of clothing. Funny, that looked exactly like his– wait a minute. Colin squinted trying to figure out if that truly was his shirt and perhaps he also stared a little too long.
“Is that my shirt?” He blurted out, causing her to freeze. Glancing down her own body at the shirt, Colin could see her brows furrow. He walked over to her to inspect the shirt closer.
“That is my shirt,” he confirmed, pulling at the fabric on her stomach, eyeing the fabric, the way it was washed out. Just in the way his shirt was. There was even the small bleach stain when he’d spilled the bottle right into his basket.
As he looked up at her again, fabric absentmindedly rubbing between his fingers, she was puzzled. Colin couldn’t help but grin in amusement.
“Did you steal that from me?”
Watching her become so flustered amused him greatly. He laughed as she started to babble excuses for it, denying all claims of thievery.
“It’s ok. I must have left it in the washer.” “I’ll go change,” she mumbled apologetically but he shook his head.
“No need for that.
It is my favorite shirt though, so maybe give it back once you got your joy out of it?” he mumbled, a crooked smile on his lips.
“I’ll do, promise.”
Nodding he glanced at his watch, cursing that he was now running late. Again.

Colin’s nap was rudely interrupted by a knock on his front door. Once he didn’t answer the first time, it sounded again. With a groan, he released the pillow he’d been hugging to his chest and slowly sat up.
“Come in! It’s open.”
Still busy rubbing the sleep out of his eyes and yawning, he didn’t see her enter his apartment at first.
“You know that’s gotta stop.” “What’s gotta stop?” He asked, standing up and stretching. His bare state of clothing flustered her, as she quickly turned away from him.
“Don’t you have anything to wear?!”
“I’m not naked,” he butted in.
“But not dressed either!” Wanting to indulge her, he grabbed the discarded shorts by the side of his couch and slipped into them.
“Better?” Carefully she looked behind her, peeking at him. She huffed a little, seeing he still lacked a shirt, but decided it was better than nothing.
“Now what were you saying?” Looking at her in question, Colin patiently waited for the answer. It seemed to have been rather dire the way she hadn’t even greeted him. Now however she seemed unable to get the words out.
Her eyes flitted through his space, teeth nibbling at her bottom lip as she contemplated. Then they locked onto something.
“If you keep using my apartment and me to get rid of your nightly companions I want compensation.” She looked at him, crossing her arms before her chest.
Colin spluttered in surprise, the laugh falling from his lips. “Compensation? Do you want me to make you breakfast whenever I come over? Or lunch?”
“No.”
“No? Then uh…” Well, he wasn’t sure what else he could offer her.
“I’m going to take this as payment.” With that, she walked past him and bent down toward his laundry basket, in which his freshly washed shirts rested. He had been too lazy to put them away. As she stood back up she clutched a shirt of his in her hands.
“My shirt?” He asked her.
“Yep.”
If that's what she wanted, Colin wasn’t going to argue. Even if he couldn’t understand why exactly she wanted one of his shirts.
“That’s all?”
His words made her stop and think. Colin started to grin at the way her eyebrows furrowed and her nose scrunched up in concentration. It was cute. She was cute.
“Well, you don’t seem to be able to offer me much otherwise.”
“Ouch,” he winced, grabbing his chest in mock hurt.
“You know I just got paid, let me take you out.”
She looked at him with big eyes.
“I take you out now and you can have as many shirts as you want as long as I have enough to wear too, deal?”
Colin held his hand out for her, waiting on her decision. Chewing her bottom lip she seemed to contemplate the offer. In the end, she nodded and put her hand in his. They shook hands.
“Deal. You can keep hiding in my apartment and I’m allowed to steal your shirts.”
A deal made, she patiently waited for him to shrug on a shirt plus shoes and grab his wallet. Together they walked out of his apartment.
“But why the shirts? No judgment, I’m just curious.” Colin asked as they walked down the stairs together.
“Keeps creepy guys away if they think I’m taken,” she answered with a shrug and a smile.
“Huh,” he mumbled, watching her from the corner of his eye. He knew mayhaps a better solution for that.

Sunlight crept into the room through the cracks in the blinds, illuminating the room sporadically. Pouring over the bed the light cast long lines across the bedding, warming her cheek and arm.
All could have been fantastic on this cozy, beautiful morning had the light not come from the wrong side of the room. This small, lone fact was the reason she couldn’t drift off into sleep once more. Instead, she carefully opened up her eyes, first one and then the other, and peered into the room that was not hers.
It looked familiar. It was, as she noticed the guitar leaning against a chair and a strong, warm pair of arms wrapped around her, that she remembered – or rather realized – where she was.
Colin’s.
Right. They’d been out yesterday evening.
Colin had taken her out, they’d eaten at the promenade and walked through the park to a cheap but excellent cocktail bar. That’s how she ended up in this bed.
Well, she had planned to end up in his living room, lured in by Colin’s offer to let the final part of the evening fade out with the comfort of his couch under her butt, a cool beer in her hand, and perhaps a little drunken serenade with his guitar.
Judging how the guitar remained in its stand, seemingly untouched, they had skipped the serenade and gone straight for the tumble in the sheets.
As she sunk back into the mattress, Colin curled around her back, his breath tickling her bare shoulder, she thought that this was something she could get used to.
Falling back asleep seemed easy at that moment, weren’t it for her stomach grumpily disrupting the – not so early – morning peace.
“Colin, come on!” She whined, pouting at the brunette opposite her. He only grinned, wallet pulled from his pocket as he shook his head.
“Nope. I invited you so I pay.”
“I don’t want to be indebted..”, she muttered quietly, not noticing the frown that momentarily crossed his face.
“Hey, now. Nothing of this ‘being in debt’, you aren’t. But if you so badly want to do something in return you can.”
“I can?”
He nodded at her, thinking hard for a couple of moments. “How about you treat us to breakfast tomorrow morning?”
She snorted quietly but thought about it. “Alright. Hangover breakfast is on me tomorrow morning.”
That memory of the previous evening made her whine quietly. She wasn’t in the slightest mood to get dressed appropriately enough to leave the confines of Colin’s apartment. Leaving the house was too much work.
Hungry she was nonetheless and her annoyingly vocal stomach wouldn’t let her forget it either. Once more it grumbled, gurgling louder than the first time, a steadily growing monster waiting to be fed.
She froze but Colin didn’t rouse in the slightest and so, after waiting a couple more ticks of the clock – there was no way the grump that demanded to be fed could wait any longer – she gradually wiggled out of his grip and climbed from his bed.
Their clothes were strewn in all directions of the room, she wasn’t even sure it was all of them. One however stood out. It was the shirt he had worn the previous evening. And even though she spied her shirt just beside it, it was the former she grabbed and lazily shrugged on.
When Colin awoke two things were out of place. One, he had expected to wake up with company. There was a pang in his chest at the cool and empty sheets ruffled around his waist, clearly used by another body but long left behind.
He’d been so sure that what he understood to be going on between them, what he felt was budding, was mutual. Now he wasn’t so sure anymore. Perhaps he had read into it too much, perhaps he had run ahead at a pace she wouldn’t go.
But then there was the second thing out of place. If he was alone, which he assumed, where was this delicious smell coming from? He couldn’t mope in his disappointment for long, his stomach faster than his brain.
Stumbling out of bed, he grabbed his boxers, discarded at the foot of the bed. Every other clothing forgotten or ignored in favor of finding the source of this heavenly smell.
Even more amazing than the smell of breakfast was the sight before him, as he descended the couple of steps into the main space of his apartment. There he found his fled bed buddy and what a sight to behold she was.
It was simple, her state of dress and style. Hair down, ruffled in the back from their canoodling and sleep following it, barefoot and barely dressed. In fact, as Colin stepped closer – sneaking up on her, as she hadn’t noticed him yet – he observed the single item of clothing she was wearing closer.
“Is that my shirt?” He asked with a grin and a raised brow, leaning against the wall that closed off the kitchen halfway. Her head snapped around, eyes briefly widening as she looked him up and down. Colin’s grin grew, he bit on his lower lip and relished in the way she eyed him.
A low moan slipped past his lips as he got his confirmation, she was wearing his shirt. It triggered something in him, something innate and primal. Not to mention the arousal coursing through his veins at the look, but there was more. He never wanted to see a different sight than her in his shirt.
She shrugged her shoulders, finished with eyeing him up and thinking of a calm but clever answer. “You don’t like it? Want me to take it off?”
Colin growled quietly, his eyes darkening. Pushing off the wall he stalked up to her until they were nose to nose, toes to toes.
“I like it more than I can express, don’t want to see you ever again in anything else.” His words took her breath, a small gasp left her lips as she glanced up at him. There was no doubt in her that he meant every word he said.
“Although I can’t decide if I want you to keep it on so I can savor the look or if I want to rip it off of you right now.”
A shiver ran down her spine, tension coiling in her stomach. It was palpable, the air thick with crackling energy, tiny bolts sizzling between them.
The smell of food and the crackle of the stove brought her back. Clearing her throat she motioned toward the cooking breakfast.
“Food first.”
Colin hummed, coming impossibly closer to her. “Food first, then dessert.” His fingers tugged at the hem of the shirt. With a boyish grin on his lips, he tried to peek down the collar, all the while his fingers contradictory tried to tug the shirt up to get a peek elsewhere.
With a laugh she pushed his hands off, turning back towards the stove and Colin sighed in playful defeat.
Tumblr media
“Come on Shea, don’t be a coward,” Colin murmured under his breath, chin tucked close to his chest as he hopped from one foot to the other in front of his door. “It’s just a shirt.”
Said shirt in his hands felt like it was made out of lead. It wasn’t the material that weighed so much but the implication behind it. Which, in truth, was even more stupid than if in his hand he had a shirt actually made out of lead.
Time had passed since he had last seen her wear his shirt that morning in his kitchen. Time in which the two of them had gone on many more outings – dates they’d agreed to name them – crowned with the agreement of going steady.
And while Colin had gained a girlfriend, he had lost the previous agreement of compensation, her need for cashing in the demand for one of his shirts void. Instead of hiding in her apartment from his flavors of the night, the two of them either woke up together in one of their apartments or met for a shared breakfast.
There was no way Colin would ever want to go back to how it was before, but he did have to admit that he missed having her come in to collect her payment and he missed it even more to see her wear one of his shirts just casually. So he was going to do something about it.
Today.
Right now.
With a sigh and a crack of his neck following the roll of his shoulders, he turned the doorknob and strode out of his apartment. Right across the hallway, past the staircase and to her door, opposite of his.
She was lounging on her sofa, caught up in the depths of a book as Colin sauntered down the four steps into the living space. It was right about then that he stopped as if he had slammed into an invisible wall.
Surprised, he asked, “Is that my shirt?”
Dropping the book into her lap, she looked up at him but all Colin could focus on was the print of the – clearly too big – shirt on her frame. He hadn’t expected to see her wearing a shirt of his. He hadn’t even noticed it was gone.
“What…when did you..” he muttered, scratching the back of his head in bafflement, too dumbfounded to end the train of thought let alone the sentence.
In amusement she snorted at her stunned boyfriend, smiling and feeling a sense of pride and triumph.
“Took you long enough to realize,” she grinned at him, happy how good of a job she had done. It was then she noticed the fabric in his hand, hanging limply at his side.
“Did you steal more of my shirts?”
Instead of answering, she asked her own question. “What’s that?”
Colin’s eyes followed hers, zeroing in on the shirt in his hands. He hadn’t forgotten it, okay he might have, but his reasons were good! Now he raised the newly discovered article of clothing in his hand, his mission coming back to mind.
“I, ugh- I wanted to give you this to..” He sighed, whining at the look of delight on her face, “Stop it!”
“Stop what?”
“Enjoying this so much!” He growled, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. She laughed as Colin stalked towards her. Plopping down on the sofa beside her he contemplated if it was worth it to try to tickle her.
She had a mean kick, a fact he had regrettably learned through firsthand – foot – contact. It was an experience he had no need to relieve a second time.
“I’m sorry, you are just too cute,” she muttered, leaning over to press a kiss to his lips. Colin hummed and chased the softness of her lips.
“Kiss me some more and I might forgive you.” “Forgive me?” She taunted, a brow raised in mock as her eyes glinted with mischief.
“Yeah. That or you can tell me since when you have this and why I haven’t seen you wear it until now.” Her wearing his clothes had an undeniable reaction on Colin. He couldn’t get enough of the sight. It was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen only second to her beauty when she lay sweaty and naked beneath him.
His words made her roll her eyes, but the smile never faltered. “Colin you obviously haven’t paid close enough attention, I’ve been wearing your shirts nonstop.”
“Really?”
“Yeah really. If you had been not so busy trying to get me naked every chance you get–”
“–I didn’t hear you complaining before!” With another eye roll, she leaned forward and kissed him again, mainly to shut him up.
“As I was saying, I’ve been wearing them fairly regularly. I snuck a shirt or two out of your apartment a couple of times.” Admitting it suddenly made her shy.
Colin however looked at her entirely smitten. His arm wrapped around her, knuckles rubbing the space between her shoulder blades in comfort and to encourage her to continue.
“I like wearing them,” she admitted, chewing on her bottom lip, “they smell like you and that is comforting. And I kinda got used to it.”
Colin’s heart stuttered and swelled with warmth. “I love you.”
The thought, no, the feeling had been lingering in him for a while now but there had never been the right time in his mind to tell her. But right now felt like the perfect time. He could no longer hold this a secret, not when she invoked such vivid feelings in his chest. Colin had never felt so deeply and strongly for anyone.
In surprise she sucked in her breath, the air whistling between her lips. She looked at him with widened eyes. Colin could see the various emotions flit over her eyes, her mind working at lightning speed to process the words. And once they finally did, warmth flooded her expression.
“I love you too,” she whispered softly, breathily.
Tumblr media
Laughter intercrossed the patter of water against tiles and glass. The spray of liquid obscured the two bodies, ripples of steam rose from their feet and swirled upwards between their legs. The warm water softly cascaded down over them, hair soaked and clinging to their bare skin.
A soft giggle escaped her lips at the tickling breath crossing her shoulder. There was the scratch of stubble from Colin’s cheeks grazing her neck mixing into the sensation. He nosed along her shoulder, lips hovering just a breath away.
Yet it was his hands that drew the happy sounds out of her, the little giggles and bigger waves of laughter, and in between the little sighs as well. He was feeling her up, his hands restlessly traveling over the planes of her body, fingertips gently caressing the bare skin. If not for the warm spray of water he’d have reduced her to shivers. Alas, he hadn’t come that far yet.
All of it was slow and languid. They had all the time in the world. The rest of their lives. Now even more so as the matching bands on their hands twinkled in unison in the refracting lights.
Colin took his time, arms wrapped around her, hands softly drawing up and down her sides. He was comfortably draped around her back, herself leaning into the hold, head resting on his shoulder. He couldn’t have been happier.
Focused entirely on the other, on their intimate togetherness, their bodies swayed softly following their natural rhythm, an instinctual dance.
A gasp left her as his lips pressed onto the column of her neck, trailing along to the crossing where her shoulder fused with her collarbone. The gasp turned into a breathless hum, kisses turning to small nibbles and soft strokes on her skin to hungry paws of her flesh.
“Colin,” she hummed into the warm, steam-mottled air, eyes fluttering shut. His traveling hands halted just under the swell of her breast, thumbs drawing over the bottom most part of her curves.
“Yes, my love? My wife.” She felt him grin into the sentence, lips tugging upwards against her skin, emphasized by another nibble, this time at the edge of her jaw, just below her ear.
The term still felt new and unfamiliar but she was certain she’d find a quick liking to it, just as she had found to address him as her husband.
“Room Service is going to be there any moment now.”
“And?”
“Someone’ll need to answer them.”
“Can’t they just leave it outside the room? I’m sure they can wait.” He couldn’t see her brows furrow from his position but he heard the whine coming from deep within her chest.
“But breakfast… my caffeine.”
“You are such an addict,” he laughed against her skin, groping fingers briefly turning to tickle her sides. She squealed, hand reaching back to pinch him into the side making him yelp in surprise.
“If you want to keep your wife happy you better not stand up the room service with our breakfast.”
With a heavy-hearted sigh and droopily hanging shoulders Colin relented. “Alright, alright. You’ll get your breakfast,” he promised her, pressing one last kiss against her temple before his arms slid from her frame.
He was already halfway out of the shower when she called to him once more. As he turned around lips pressed against his, the kiss broken only by the obnoxious knock against their hotel room door.
A short exchange with the friendly hotel employee congratulating him on their wedding later, Colin was wheeling the trolley filled with deliciously smelling breakfast into their hotel room.
“Sweetheart, breakfast is here!”
It took her less than two seconds to open the door of the bathroom and step out. And Colin? He had to do a double take, eyes raking over her form. He had the most gorgeous wife, he was sure of it and right now she looked like a goddess there to bless his life.
His eyes traveled up from her feet over her bare legs to the hem of…
“Is that my shirt?” He asked her, lips forming into a grin. It had become their little game, their inside joke, this one question. One question that had started their journey and let them on the path to happiness.
“Hm, no. It’s my husbands.” She hummed, lips parting in a cheeky grin as her fingers ran along the button facing of his dress shirt. The one he’d worn yesterday during their ceremony and the following celebration.
She’d buttoned only two buttons in front of her chest, barely enough to keep her covered, a teasing amount of skin still peeking through. The ends of the shirt brushed against her upper thighs as she crossed the room.
Colin snorted in amusement, eyes never leaving her. He watched her with hunger in his eyes, a hunger that wasn’t directed at the food in front of him.
“Your husbands?” He asked, crossing his arms.
“Yep. He is the best.”
“He is?”
“Yeah, when he’s not taking forever with breakfast and keeping me from my morning caffeine at least.”
“Hey!” Colin laughed, reaching for her in playful anger. She squealed once more, jumping out of his reach, her laughter mixing with his.
“Okay, I take it back! I take it back, Colin!”
Still, he held her in his arms, hands grabbing her around her waist, the thin fabric of his shirt barely concealing the feel of her beneath his palms. Her arms wrapped around his neck, nimble fingers caressing the short hair at the back of his skull. A lazy grin settled on his lips as he took a long, appreciative look at her.
“You are beautiful,” he told her, leaning forward to capture her lips in another kiss. He’d never get enough of her, how she tasted. And as they parted once more, he glimpsed down, eyes peeking under his dress shirt. Groaning loudly, his hands slipped from her waist.
“Hurry up with your coffee, I’m hungry,” he moaned and she laughed.
“There’s an entire trolley full of food.”
“Not that kind of hungry.”
Tumblr media
Colin lay on the couch in misery, the small fan before him blowing sadly through the room. More than moving some of the uncomfortably heated air through the room its power wouldn’t allow. There was no relief from the icky way he felt.
It was hot, it was sticky, it was sweaty.
“When did the repair guy say again he’d be there?” He called out into the house, the effort almost taking too much energy from him as he poked out his tongue.
Even stripped down to his underwear he was barely standing the heat. Anything more simply too hot to wear, he was contemplating losing even the last fickle piece of clothing. Although it wouldn’t do much either.
“Tomorrow!” His wife's call came from somewhere in the house, but Colin was too lazy to track where from more closely.
“Tomorrow better be coming fast.” With a groan, he pushed off the coach, the floor beneath his feet disappointingly warm. More than sluggish steps he couldn’t muster as he trudged towards the kitchen. There he found her standing in front of the fridge.
“Cooling yourself off?” He asked, smirking as she was mostly hidden behind the opened door.
“I’m miserable,” she whined, her head peeking out from behind the door to look at him. Colin’s heart did a salto in his chest, a frown appearing on her lips immediately after.
“I’m sorry baby.” He was wishing he could aid her somehow, make her feel more comfortable. But alas Colin couldn’t even help himself feel more comfortable right now. It made him feel useless, the sensation heavy in his stomach even as he attempted to swallow it down.
She huffed, stepping back and closing the door before the fridge could start to beep. If only she could have it open forever, at least the fridge meant a small moment of alleviation. It was just their luck that the AC unit had to break during the height of summer.
“Colin this is all your fault,” she huffed again, pressing her hands to the small of her back as she swayed on the balls of her feet. Her complaints flew entirely over his head as Colin's eyes – and brain – zeroed in on one thing only. Everything else around him forgotten.
There it was, pulling all attention to it, the rather pronounced bump she was sporting, peeking out between the fabric of her shirt. He couldn’t believe it even now. Pregnant. Soon to be three, their family was going to add another person. She was growing a little him and her in there.
He wanted to fall to his knees and weep whenever the image hit him like it did now. He wanted to worship her, cradle her in his arms, carry her on his hands.
Mesmerized by the view, his fingers itched to touch her belly, to rub his hands all over it. He held back the urge, if only for the fact he knew it would make her feel even hotter than she was. Colin wasn’t about to make it even worse if he couldn’t help soothe her afterward. Then again, even with the AC working she’d been barely above feeling miserable before.
“You’ve almost got it baby. We’re on the last stretch.” It was a fickle reminder, a promise that it would be over sooner rather than later. But even that could only help so much when every minute felt like an eternity and every hour passed slower than the one before.
His eyes stayed focused on the continuously growing bump as she shifted, turning around to him and with her, the fabric around her body shifted too. It caught the edge of his attention, the glimpse of it startled him out of his focus as he eyed it closer for the first time.
“Is that my good dress shirt?” His brow raised in question and surprise. It was nothing new for her to wear his things but mostly she preferred his t-shirts over everything. And adding to it Colin was certain that shirt had been buried in the furthest corner of his wardrobe. He wasn’t even sure if it had seen the light of day since their wedding.
“Yeah,” she shrugged her shoulders, “I’m not going to cook in one of your shirts. It’s too warm and I’m miserable enough already.”
“I’m not complaining,” he snorted happily, now taking his time to eye her up and down.
“You’ll never get tired of ogling me, will you?”
“Nope.” Putting emphasis on the p Colin brightly grinned at her. “Not when you always look so smokin’ hot.” He couldn’t help it, he was fully attracted to her. And she wasn’t making it much easier for him, wearing only cotton panties and a tiny bralette beneath his unbuttoned shirt. Not to mention the changes in her body the pregnancy brought forth were an even bigger turn-on for him.
“Don’t even think of getting turned on right now. It’s too hot for that. If so, you can make do with your hand.” Her disgruntled words made him laugh and nod.
“Come on, I have an idea to cool you down a little.”
“Is it a new, functioning AC unit?” She asked him full of undiluted hope, teeth coming down upon her bottom lip.
“Sorry baby.” He had to disappoint. Putting his hands on her shoulders and softly guiding her towards the living room Colin added, “You gotta make do with the fan until tomorrow. Now go sit down on the couch.”
She looked over her shoulder at him once more, her eyes searching for a cue. At last, she nodded, cutely waddling toward the living room. Colin already knew he’d miss this soon.
“It’s the ice cream man~” Colin’s sing-song voice carried over to her shortly after, her husband stepping into the living room moments later. In one hand he held two glasses, ice cubes sloshing in the liquid content, and in his other hand two packs of ice cream. Her heart leaped at the view of him.
“You’re the best,” she murmured, gladly taking the ice cream from his hand and eagerly ripping the packaging open so she could get a taste of the sinfully cool treat. What had her hum more than the pleasure of the cool creamy sweetness on her lips was the cool press of glass that Colin held against her neck. Any other moment and she would have flinched away, now the groan that left her lips was almost obscene.
“You enjoying yourself?” He asked as he plopped down beside her, a mindful distance away. There was nothing more that she wanted than to cuddle into his side – besides a functioning AC maybe – but it was simply too warm.
“Oh yeah,” she muttered, too busy eating her ice cream to care much for anything else going on around her. So much in fact she pliantly let Colin maneuver her feet into his lap. Expertly he opened his own ice cream with the aid of his teeth.
“You and your skills,” she mused with a raise of her brow, “That’s what got us into this situation in the first place.”
Colin snickered in amusement, shaking his head. He looked at her, eyes glinting in mischief as he took the first lick of his ice cream.
“Nah, I think you’re mistaken. Me not using this skill is what got us into this situation,” he answered cheekily, for a moment forgoing his own restraint to let his hand roam over her swollen middle. His heart always leaped in excitement whenever he felt the life growing there beneath his hand.
His darling wife eyed his hand, rolling her eyes at his words, and decided to enjoy her ice in peace. Colin kept his hand roaming a little more, disappointed when nothing roused beneath his hand and so he joined her in enjoying his ice cream.
Much later, after they’d eaten their ice cream and their glasses were almost empty, some last stubborn ice cubes refusing to melt in them, Colin had slouched down far enough on the couch to have pressed some tickling kisses against the edge of her rips and the swell of her bump.
His glass, which he had mostly kept resting with his wrist on top of her feet, occasionally pressing the chilled glass against them to watch her sigh in relief, gave him an idea.
One eye prying open as his ministrations had stopped, she watched him fish an ice cube out of the class.
A shiver ran down her spine at the ice-cold feel of the translucent cuboid that Colin pressed against her belly. If it weren’t feeling so nice she would scold him. It felt too good and so she instead watched him draw transparent shapes. They laughed in unison as someone at last stirred in her belly, movements and a kick becoming visible under her skin.
Tumblr media
Colin felt bone-weary, ready-to-drop-dead tired. Exhaustion oozed from every pore of his being. With his eyes closed the greatest temptation right now was to simply fall asleep reclined on the couch where he sat. Work had been exhausting and while he enjoyed it with every ounce of his being there were moments he’d wished back to the time he’d been a struggling artist. Although if the choice were to arise he’d never actually go through with it. He’d never give up his life as it was, no way he’d ever leave them behind.
His lips curled upwards as he heard the shrill giggles coming closer, the shuffling feet in the hallway. Cracking one eye open, just in time, he watched his wife walk into the living room, their toddler propped on her hip.
With a grin powerful enough to split his face he opened his arms, holding them out in wanton for his baby. She laughed at him, rolling her eyes as he made grabby hands for both. Pointing towards him she diverted their little one's attention. Big blue eyes, the same as his, landed on him. In an instant that tiny little face split beaming, tiny limbs becoming wiggly.
“Alright, alright. You have no patience, just like your dad,” he heard her mutter to their little one in amusement. Both of them wiggled in unison, undivided happiness.
“Watch.”
At first, Colin was confused, unsure what she meant. Quickly his confusion melted away, replaced by wonder and delight. Setting down the toddler, tiny hands securely clasped in her much bigger ones, Colin watched in amazement as plump little feet stumbled toward him. Clumsy yet determined their little one waddled over him, a look of concentration that had Colin’s heart grow exponentially.
And then those tiny hands, previously clasped in his wive’s, landed on his knees, grip surprisingly strong as he was used as a prop to stand. It was then that Colin noticed it.
“Is that my shirt?” he asked in surprise, looking up at his wife. How he’d missed the ginormous piece of fabric hanging from the much smaller frame of their toddler he had no idea. It was hilarious how the shirt swallowed the child almost entirely and it was as they cooed and looked around that he noticed the tie at their back, holding the shirt upon their frame.
Colin snorted in amusement, watching as his wife plopped down beside him on the couch. In turn he leaned forward, hands shooting out to pull the toddler onto his lap in a surprise attack.
“It’s a little big don’t you think?” He teased with a raised brow, fingers tickling the little one. Their shrill laughter was music in his ears. Colin knew he’d never be able to get enough of this. These moments of pure delight, of happiness, and the best memories he’d ever be able to make.
“Only a little,” she agreed in amusement, fingers reaching out to fuss with their little ones' fringe. “Give it a couple of years and that shirt will fit just alright.”
Gasping in disagreement, Colin frowned and pulled the child against his chest, arms tightly wrapped around. His lips curled upwards at the happy giggles, fingers itching for another tickle attack. “How can you say that? No growing up, I won’t allow it!”
This in turn had her laugh and shake her head, “I don’t think that’s how it works Colin.”
For a short moment he looked actually stricken, brows furrowed in contemplation. The grin that spread across his face afterward meant nothing good. Suspicion arose in her as he leaned over to her, nose nuzzling her cheek before he pressed a kiss there.
“Guess we need another one then.”
“Another one?” She asked him in surprise. His eyes twinkled as he nodded, the look had her heart hammer in her chest and a warmth erupt in her stomach.
“Gotta make sure we always have one at that age, so we never run out of those moments.”
Laughter bubbled in her throat, crossing her lips in disbelief, “Let’s focus on one more first. It’s not you who has to endure it all for 9 months, dear husband.”
But Colin didn’t listen, all he heard was one thing. “So that’s a yes?”
“Go sit down I’ll change ‘em,” Colin murmured into her ear, hand softly rubbing across her back as they trudged into their house. She sighed in thanks, first pressing a kiss onto their little one's cheek before Colin received a peck on the lips.
The second she plopped down on the couch, her shoes were off. Relief flooded her agitated toes, glad to be out of the tight confinements of her heels. It didn’t take long for Colin to return, still dressed dapperly as could be. He cleaned up exceptionally well and effortlessly, something she was ever jealous of.
Their little one propped on his arm, he carried the little one holding their favorite toy. In the middle of the living room, he left the child down, which with an almost theatrically plop flopped down on their behind, playing by themselves.
Colin followed shortly after, plopping down equally theatrically beside her on the couch and with a yawn wrapped his arm around her. Happily, she snuggled against his side, head resting on his shoulder.
“It was fun,” she mused. Colin hummed, pressing a kiss onto her crown.
“It was, but also damn exhausting. Suddenly I understand the appeal of a childless wedding. No one can tell me that’s not to give all the poor parents a night off as much as it is for the couple.”
She snorted in agreement. While it had been fun attending their friends' wedding with their little one, it had been just as exhausting.
“How long do you think until they knock out?”
“Could be minutes but could also be another hour or so.”
“Let’s hope for the first,” Colin murmured against her hair, pressing another kiss there as his thumbs caressed her side.
There was no space between them left but that didn’t stop her from trying to snuggle even closer to her husband as she watched their little one play by themselves. As she did, she noticed something. Their little outfit had been replaced by nothing other than…
“Is that your shirt?” Colin beside her started to snicker, she could feel the proud grin practically against her temple.
“Took you long enough to notice,” amusement filled his voice as he taunted her, “You started something there baby.”
“I started it?”
“Yeah, you,” Colin emphasized the words by tapping his finger against her nose, winking at her, “I remember you putting my shirt on them and the rest is history.”
He wasn’t entirely wrong. Ever since their little one would ask to wear the shirt again.
“I wasn’t about to deal with a tantrum by denying our overtired kiddo to wear the shirt instead of their jammies.”
That certainly had been a wise decision. They always could switch it out once they were fast asleep. One more thing Colin had inherited his firstborn. Sleeping like the dead.
“It was either the tee or my dress shirt.” Colin grinned at her as she snorted, shaking her head. “You know I’m pretty sure that’s also thanks to you.”
“Why me again?” She asked, curious about his reasoning. Colin shuffled a little, sinking further down into the plush sofa, and stretched out his legs.
“Well, you basically wore nothing else for like half the pregnancy.”
“I don’t think that’s how genetics work Colin.”
Colin shrugged his shoulders, grinning down at her. He didn’t care if it worked like that or not. It was his explanation and he would stick with it until she had a better one for him.
“You better have some extra ones or you can start saying farewell to them,” she hummed, pressing a kiss to his jaw, which confused and startled him. Turning to watch her, Colin raised both his brows. “What does that mean?”
She smiled at him, softly and in what he liked to call her ‘totally smitten’ way, the way that always made his heartbeat add an extra step. He looked down, watching her finger draw little hearts across his chest as she hummed.
“It means,” with that she grabbed his hand, slowly guiding it towards her middle, “that you’re going to get what you asked for. A little sibling for the kiddo.”

All you see is red and if Natasha hadn’t been right behind you, your fist would have found Peggy’s jaw in about three seconds. “Easy, there.” Natasha says as she catches your hand and spins you back to face her. “She’s not worth getting kicked out.” She says as she squeezes your shoulders.
“That’s why you looked so familiar! Fuck you!” You yell as Natasha moves you away, wanting to create distance between you and Peggy.
“What the hell is going?” Bucky asks as he runs up beside you.
“Why is everyone screaming?” Jake asks as he walks up with Wanda.
“Everly, it’s not what it looks like!” Steve exclaims as he shoves Peggy off of him.
“Don’t pretend you didn’t like it, Steven.” Peggy says trying to be flirty but missing the mark completely. Steve turns to her, his piercing gaze quieting her quickly.
“My name is Steve. Not Steven. And I didn’t like it. In fact I was telling you to slow down and to stop. Short of throwing you on the ground I don’t know what else I could have done.” Steve exclaims before he quickly crosses over the lawn to you. “Please Everly, let me explain-“ you cut him off with a glare of your own.
“We will handle this later,” your gaze shifts over his shoulder to Peggy. “You just can’t help stealing men who aren’t yours, can you?!” You yell. Peggy scoffs and walks closer, hands on her hips and her nose in the air.
“I have no idea what you are talking about, Everly. This is the name of the game. Everyone flirts and switches partners the whole time. Don’t get so hurt about it.” She tries to brush off your comment, she thinks you won’t. That you won’t air the dirty laundry between you two, but she has underestimated you.
“Well, what about in life? Huh?! Is it ‘the name of the game’ to sleep with someone else’s boyfriend?!” You yell, you don’t mean to but the way Peggy is taken aback makes you feel better about yelling. Bucky and Steve look at you and then back at Peggy. Natasha scoffs and glares at the woman still holding her head high.
“Wait?” Bucky asks. “You are the woman who broke up Everly’s last relationship?”
“Because you had an affair with her boyfriend.” Steve continues.
“The one and only. Took me hearing her say those same disgusting words to Steve to remember where I had seen her before.” You answer for her. Peggy’s eyes shift quickly as she looks at everyone, thinking on her feet.
“For the record, Everly, Colin had me fooled as well. I thought he was single, granted newly single but I didn’t know you two were still together.” Peggy convincingly explains, but you know better. You know what you heard that day.
You just got home from work, dropping your keys in the bowl by the door and setting your bags down. You were suppose to go straight over to your parents house but you forgot your suitcase that morning before you left. You’ll need it for the week away so you just decide to stop by the apartment and grab it before you head out, maybe get a little goodbye in with Colin before the long week you’ll be spending apart. Your first sign should have been the Colin’s shirt tossed over the back of the couch. He never leaves his clothes laying around like that because he knows how it bothers you. But you tell yourself it’s because he thinks he’s alone for the week, he’s probably just getting a head start on acting like a slob. The next should have been the open bottle of wine on the coffee table, because he knows how you hate wasting good wine. You tell yourself that he’s gonna come back and finish it. Sadly the one you couldn’t explain away, the one that stopped you in your tracks, the one that made you speechless, was the woman’s voice coming from behind the closed bedroom door. You hear Colin’s familiar sounds, the ones that make you melt, that make you respond in a similar ways. Sound that only you can pull from him. Yet now in your bed, in your room, in your apartment some other woman is pulling those sounds from his mouth. Your boyfriend, the one that just asked your dad for his permission to marry you. The boyfriend who always promised to never hurt you, is now breaking every trust he helped you rebuild and reopening every old scar he had helped heal. “Next time we are doing this at my place.” The woman says. ‘Next time?’ You think, ‘how long has this been going on?’ The mystery women continues. “I hate sleeping with you while there is a picture of the two of you on the damn wall.” You are enraged, ‘of course there are pictures of me and my boyfriend, in my damn house!’ You scream in your mind, doing your best to stay silent so you can hear what Colin says back.
“We have to stop this. This isn’t going anywhere, I love Everly.” Colin groans, hearing the pleasure in his voice. As he says they have to stop he pushes himself farther over the edge.
“I know, and I don’t care, touch me.” The woman answers back and then you hear her hushed moans. Your feet are moving before you can comprehend what’s happening. You swing open the bedroom door, letting it slam back again the wall. Colin jumps out of bed and stands next to it while facing the door. Meeting your gaze, he instantly feels regret and remorse but he knows better than to speak. You walk past him and grab your suitcase and the last couple things on your nightstand. There is a picture of you and Colin staring back at you as you turn to leave the room, all you do is take it off the wall and drop it to the ground. Glass breaks everywhere and the picture is ripped by the glass shards. You don’t look back as you walk down the hall and out the front door, not even caring to slam it. Tears fill your eyes on the elevator ride as you call your mom to tell her you are on your way home.
✨Present day✨
You cock your eyebrow and go in for the kill. “Oh really, Peggy?!? Because as you were actively fucking my boyfriend you said, and I quote, ‘Next time we are doing this at my place. I hate sleeping with you while there is a picture of you two on your damn wall.’ Then when he told you he loved me and that his affair with you wasn’t going anywhere you said, ‘I know, I don’t care. Touch me.” You walk closer to her. “You knew the whole time so don’t try and play sweet now!” You snap at her. “I just wanna know why?!” You ask. Natasha inching closer just in case she needs to restrain you from punching Peggy and getting kicked off the island. “Why did you go after Colin knowing he was taken. Why did you go after Steve knowing he was taken. What did I ever do to you?!!” You yell and Peggy crosses her arms as she shakes her head as she starts to walk away. “No! You don’t get to just walk away from this.” You chase after her, she turns around quickly and you two are face to face.
“I knew him first!” She yells. You stand your ground and refusing to look away. The group behind you shuffles and you hear Jake whisper to Wanda.
“Wait, so Peggy knew Steve too?” Wanda pats his face and quietly says ‘no’. Peggy rolls her eyes having heard Jake.
“I worked with Colin, we were sleeping together, nothing serious but I thought maybe we would eventually become something more. But then he starts going on and on about ‘the most amazing girl he’s ever met’. Even after fucking me, he was going on and on about you!” She screams. She takes a step back and you allow her that, giving her the space she needs if only for a moment. “About 2 years into our arrangement he stopped mentioning you so I thought, ‘this is my chance.’ So I made a move and he shot me down, saying he ‘had a lot on his mind’. He pushed me away and whenever I came over he wouldn’t even let me in his apartment.” Peggy looks off to the side and shakes her head. “Turns out you had already moved in. He had ‘a lot on his mind’ because you showed up on his doorstep one day begging for a place to stay. And because he was so in love with you, he folded to your every ask. He chose you over me and then for the next 3 years of my life I was kept at a distance- I had lost my friend! Because of you!” Your mind races with so many thoughts, connecting the dots and becoming even angrier. This time you choose quiet rage,
“I don’t care who knew him first, Peggy. He wasn’t with you when we started dating but you seduced him back into your arms. He’s not faultless in this, it’s his fault as much as it’s yours. So no explanation will make me ‘see things your way.’ You were sleeping with someone else’s man and you are trying to justify it, but there is no justification. And now you’re just being vindictive against me and going after Steve. Grow up, Peggy.” You turn and walk away, she tries to get the last laugh.
“You moved in while we were still- we were still something, Everly! You aren’t any better!” She yells, you spin around debating whether to tell the truth and spill sensitive information on camera.
“I had known Colin for 5 years. He knew about my previous relationship and when I needed help he let me move in. I had only been with Colin for 2 years when I caught the two of you together. There was a whole year between the end of your arrangement with him and when we started dating. So again, there is no explanation that makes anything you did okay.” You turn and walk away, past the others who throw glances towards Peggy and call after you as you walk away, heading into the villa and up to the bedroom.
Tumblr media
You sit on the terrace overlooking the whole villa. Your knees tucked to your chest and your arms wrapped around your legs. Tears drip down your face and drop onto your legs as you silently cry. “Ugh Everly, get over it.” You say to yourself, “It’s been almost 7 months and he never even tried to apologize.” You hear a knock on the terrace door and your head turns to see who it is. He leans against the doorframe, his blue eyes are gentle and kind as he looks over you with concern. “Hi, Bucky.” You say quietly. He gently smiles and walks through the door closing it behind him.
“For the record Steve and I played rock, paper, scissors to see who would get to talk to you first.” He smiles as he sits next to you and you gently smile. “So don’t think he didn’t want to talk to you, cause he really did. He wanted to explain everything, but I wanted to check on you,” you meet his gaze and more tears fall. He lays his hand on your head and strokes your hair. “So how are you doing?” You let out a sad laugh.
“I’m angry, Bucky. At Peggy, at Colin, hell even a little at Steve.” You look at Bucky who is about to defend his friend. “And yes I know he was trying to get her to stop while still being respectful, but sometimes you just gotta be a little rude.” Bucky laughs and nods.
“Yeah, well Steve is rarely rude.” Bucky shrugs. “He can be stupid, stubborn, and jump into situations without really thinking, but he isn’t rude.” You wipe your eyes. “And he’d never hurt someone purposefully.” You take Bucky’s hand in yours and give it a squeeze. “Now, you wanna talk about everything that just happened?” You can’t help but laugh.
“Did you not hear the screaming match?” Bucky smiles and you look up at the sky, this beautiful summer night spoiled by so much anger.
“Just tell me this, what happened between you and Colin? Why would Peggy think you two were together before you were?” You turn and look at Bucky, something in your gut tells you to trust him. You take his left hand in yours, feeling his scars along his wrist and along his forearm, tracing them with your fingers. Bucky can see the struggle within you, knowing you are trying to decide whether to trust him or not. He draws his fingers across your palm and stays quiet, letting you work out what you want to do. You look up and just know, his eyes say it all, he won’t let you down.
“Colin let me move in with him because I was recovering and hiding from my abusive ex-boyfriend. Colin helped put me back together and restored my trust in people.” You wipe a tear again and Bucky decides to push.
“What happened, with your ex? If you don’t mind me asking.” You hold his hand tighter.
“He left me for dead on our kitchen floor when I tried to leave him and when I didn’t die he promised he would find me and make sure he finished the job.” You refuse to look at Bucky, you don’t want his pity and that’s how everyone looks at you when you tell them about Brock.
“Look at me, Everly. Please?” Bucky asks, his voice soft. You look and his gaze almost heals the pain in your heart at that moment. “I am so sorry- no Woman- no one should ever have to go through that. I am glad you got away and I am happy that for a moment someone was able to help you heal from the damage he did. I’m sorry he didn’t turn out to be much better though.” Your tears start to fall and Bucky pulls you into a hug. His hands rubbing your back, calming you down. You suddenly remember that you are surrounded by cameras, and you only just met Bucky that morning. You quickly sit up and look at him with wide eyes.
“Sorry I-“ you scoot away and blush as you take a breath. “Umm thank you for your help, really it as very kind.” You sigh as you stand up. “I should probably find Steve, get all this settled before bed.” You go to walk away and Bucky stands up, catching your hand. Making sure he doesn’t pull or grip you too tight.
“Hey, just-“ he pulls you close, “come here real quick.” He gives you a hug, you feel safe and seen. You both take in a deep breath and enjoy the moment before he pulls back and squeezes your shoulders. “If you ever need to talk, I’m here, Everly. I meant what I said earlier, I’m not bowing out so easily.” He takes a respectable step back and then kisses your hand. “I’ll go get Steve and send him up here, it will give you two some privacy.” He drops your hand and walks to the door before he leaves you softly call after him.
“Bucky?” He hums in response as he turns around. “Thank you for listening.” Bucky’s eyes light up and you can’t help but smile.
“You’re welcome, Everly. Anytime. Steve will be right up.” And with that Bucky disappears down the stairs.
Tumblr media
You sit on the bench staring up at the moon. Bucky is the first person you’ve told since Colin, and that decision feels so right you didn’t feel the need to tell him ‘don’t tell anyone.’ You feel safe with Bucky, a feeling and emotion that eventually came back after a lot of professional help. You went to therapy after you left Brock, Colin made you. He said you needed to talk to a professional, so you made weekly appointments. Doing the work and seeking help along with Colin being there for you was healing and exactly what you needed. He helped when you needed him most and you can’t imagine that time without him. Getting over him wasn’t hard though. Maybe it was because of the betrayal or because you had fallen for him because he was your ‘savior’, but when your phone didn’t ring with his thousand apologies and no flowers came to beg for you back, you didn’t break. Losing him hurt and adjusting to single life again was hard but there wasn’t a day that went by where you missed him. What you had? Sure, but actually missing Colin? No. You left the apartment that day and never looked back. He was sweet and kind but he was human and he made mistakes, him not even trying to fix them made you aware of just how ‘human’ he was. “Everly?” Steve’s voice calls you out of your thoughts. You straighten up and motion for him to join you. “Look, I want to apologize for what you saw- no, for what I’d did, or what I didn’t do.” You give him a weak smile and he turns to face you. “I shouldn’t have allowed myself to be alone with her knowing how she felt about me. I should have tried harder to push her away. Look I know what I said earlier, I found her intriguing and I was into her but hearing about what she did to you. I can confidently say my head is firmly turned to you.” You let out a laugh and look down at the ground, “which I know sounds like the stupidest things to possibly say at this moment but I just need you to know her stunts didn’t do what she wanted them to. In fact they put me more off of her.” He takes your hands in his and his eyes are pleading with you to believe him.
“I believe you, Steve.” Your place your hand on the side of his face and brush your thumb over his cheek. “Honestly all of the emotions tonight had more to do with the past rather than what Peggy did today.” Steve furrows his brow and you smile a little. “I mean you are sweet and I really do hate that she moved in on you, but we have known each other for 12 hours so I can’t be as mad as I was with Colin.” Steve nods and laughs.
“Yeah, I get that.” His eyes soften and he brushes your cheek with his thumb, copying the movement you just did to him. “12 hours or not, I really do like you. And I really really want to start over with you. Forget Peggy, forget all the drama. What do you say?” Your breath catches and your gaze shifts to the ground and then back at him.
“I’d like that, but there are a few things you should know before we start over.” Steve nods.
“I’m all ears.” He leans back and drops his arm across the back of the bench.
“I need you to know that I was never with Colin while he was involved with Peggy. I didn’t know her- never even saw her, but I knew about her. Colin would mention her from time to time but she never came over and he never went out. I thought they worked together and had a fling.” You take another breath before looking at him. You see the same trusting gaze that you found with Bucky. So you decide to tell him, “And the reason I moved in with him was because my ex boyfriend beat me so bad I almost died, Colin helped me hide, my ex didn’t know about him so I was safe there. I was safe with him, until I wasn’t.” You see Steve straighten up and clench his fist. “He didn’t hurt me, physically. He just- when I needed him to be better he couldn’t be.” You meet Steve’s gaze and it’s different. Bucky’s healed you, Steve’s is strengthening you, both as important as the other.
“Is this creep still alive?” Steve asks, his jaw clenched. You feel oddly comfortable with him so you reach out and pat his thigh as you lightly laugh.
“Umm no, actually.” Steve glances at you. “He worked on some special forces thing. Secret government mission and all, he didn’t make it home and he had me listed as his ‘family’ so I got the notice.” You sigh and Steve nods. “He was killed in action right around the time Colin and I started dating..” A flash of something passes over Steve’s face. He quickly looks at you, you can’t quite figure out why he has that look.
“What was his name?” He asks. You are taken aback and you shake your head, thrown by his question, why does he care what his name was?
“Brock, Brock Rumlow.” The name sends shivers down your spine. Steve nods, there is a flash of something in his eyes and then it’s gone. He nods and then takes your hands.
“I’m sorry but I’m glad he can’t hurt you anymore.” You reach out and rub his shoulder and let your hand fall on his chest.
“Me too, Steve.” His eyes are soft and his smile is sweet, he leans in and gives you a gentle kiss. You let him linger for a moment before you gently push him away. “Steve?”
“I’m sorry,” he apologizes as he leans his forehead against yours. “you said you had ‘a few things’ you wanted to talk about.” You nod, “I’m guessing this one is about Bucky.” You nod again and Steve nods too. He kisses your head and then sits back. “Even if my head isn’t turned anymore, yours still is.”
“Yeah, it is.” You admit. Steve looks up at the sky, the stars shining bright. He smiles and then looks at you.
“Well, I’ve never been one to back down from a challenge. In fact I’m kinda known for running in head first.” He smirks and you can’t help but laugh.
“Yeah, Bucky mentioned something about you being Stubborn.” You wink and Steve laughs.
“Stubborn and not willing to give up on something I believe in.” He scoots closer to you. “And I believe we could have something pretty amazing.”
“Oh do you?” You ask teasing him.
“I do,” he takes your face in his hands. “And I’m willing to put my actions where my mouth is.” He kisses you as he wraps his arms around your waist. You smile against his lips and then pull back. “So, bedtime?” Steve asks and you bite your lip and nod.
“Yeah, let’s head inside.” You pull away but take his hand. Steve stops you for a moment. “Are we okay, Everly?” You squeeze his hand and he takes that as a yes. You lead him downstairs and into the bedroom where the others are getting ready for bed.
Tumblr media
“OooOOooo” you hear someone calling, you turn and you see Natasha basically catcalling Bucky. He smirks as he strides past everyone already lounging in bed. His black boxer briefs clinging to him in all the right places. All day and you never noticed how toned his thighs are or maybe you did but you were trying to be respectful. He meets your gaze and he winks before he jumps onto the bed with Natasha. She laughs and flings a pillow into his stomach which he promptly tosses back at her. You giggle and look at Steve who is just shaking his head as he laughs.
“I’m gonna get changed.” You tell him as you head off to the closet. Foot steps hurry behind you and you prepare yourself for another round with Peggy. To your surprise, it’s Natasha and Wanda.
“Okay, you have to spill everything!” Wanda gushes and sits at one of the vanities. Natasha sits next to her and backs up her statement.
“Yeah, dish on what took so long with the beautiful, buff twins over there.” Natasha sits back and smirks. A blush rises on your cheeks and you can’t hide the smile breaking on your face.
“Bucky came and talked to me first. He was really sweet and just wanted to check on me, make sure I was okay.” You fidget with your pajamas in hand. “Then It was Steve’s turn, he wanted to make sure we were okay, explain himself and apologize.” Natasha nods and looks at Wanda.
“Okay so where do you stand with him?” She asks as she leans forward.
“Well, I believe him when he says he isn’t into her anymore and the stunt she pulled makes him that more turned off by her.” You are quiet for a moment and the two ladies let you sit in your thoughts for a moment. “I told them both about my past, which I can’t talk about anymore tonight but I promise to fill you both in,” Wanda gets up and hugs you and Natasha squeezes your hand as you wipe a little tear away with the other. “I was honest with him that even though I am with him my head is still turned a little by Bucky.” You glance at Natasha and she smiles.
“Hey, I’ll be honest, my head is a little turned by everyone here.” She shrugs. “So you aren’t hurting my feelings saying that.” You laugh and look around.
“I feel horrible that my drama made the first day end so abruptly.” You sit down on the floor and they both join you.
“No!” Wanda exclaims, “it was Peggy and her vindictive ways! If she had just played the game like the rest of us you could have gone the whole summer never having known! But she wanted to get under your skin, she wanted to create the drama. Don’t feel bad for defending yourself.” Wanda states. You sniffle and thank her.
“So how are you and Jake?” You ask and Wanda blushes, she looks around to make sure no one got up to eavesdrop. She leans in and whispers.
“He is so dreamy!” She gushes. You and Natasha laugh and tease her a little.
“Oh look at Wanda, ready to walk off the island already!” Natasha pokes at her and she blushes.
“Well not quite. But he has potential! I’m ready to flirt my ass off tomorrow and really work at getting to know him.” She says proudly. “Natasha, what is your plan?”
Natasha glances at you and then back at Wanda.
“You know I’m not sure. I have to be honest, I might put in the flirt tomorrow on Steve, see where it goes. Respectfully of course!” She looks to you and you smile. You lean your head on her shoulder.
“Thank you for telling me and not doing it behind my back.” You say as you squeeze her arm in yours and sigh. “I’m gonna test the waters with Steve and Bucky tomorrow, see if sparks start flying, you know?”
“Yes!” Wanda yells too loudly.
“Absolutely!” Natasha agrees. Steve and Bucky come running in.
“Everything okay?” Bucky asks, looking between the three women. You blush and the other two just laugh and nod.
“Yup! We’re perfect Buck! Now go lay down!” Natasha shoos him away. Steve and Bucky can hear the laughter and giggles as they walk away from the closet. Steve pulls Bucky to the side and motions for him to follow. Bucky does and ends up in the stairwell with Steve.
Tumblr media
“Did Everly tell you about her past? About her Ex?” Steve asks, leaning against the wall.
“Colin?” Bucky questions.
“No,” Steve looks to make sure no one is listening. “About the one who-“ Bucky cuts him off.
“Oh, yeah,” her nods and looks to the ground. “Yeah she did. I was about three seconds away from asking for his address cause ‘I just wanna talk’. God what an asshole.” Bucky says as he crosses his arms. He sits on the top stair and Steve settles on the stair two down from him.
“Well, he’s dead.” Steve says, gaging Bucky’s reaction.
“Good riddance!” Bucky almost cheers, Steve stops him, shushing him a little and leaning in closer.
“It was Rumlow, Buck.” Steve says, his jaw clenched. Bucky’s heart stops for a moment, the memories flooding back to him. He hangs his head in his hands and rubs his face before he looks up to meet Steve’s gaze.
“Were they together before he died?” The tension in Bucky’s voice is painful, Steve knows he is holding back so he doesn’t put a hole in the wall.
“Yeah, from what she told me, it sounded like there was only a year between their break up and when he died.” Steve explains, examining his own hands, there is a scar across his knuckles from where he had taken out his anger on the very man they are speaking about. Bucky has a few knife scars from him as well.
“So,” Bucky is finally putting all the pieces together. The ones that Steve put together as he talked with you on the terrace. “The woman he would brag about and show photos of, was Everly.” Steve nods. “And the woman he said was an ‘obedient bitch’, was Everly.” Steve leans his head back against the wall. “And the Woman you and I tried to find and save from him because we were tired of hearing his stories about how he hurt her, that woman was Everly.” Steve look at Bucky and nods, a slight tear in his eye.
“Yeah, Buck.” Steve confirm/ his voice breaking. “She was dating him during that time so unless he was cheating on her, then yeah.” Bucky hangs his head again and Steve look up at the ceiling. “God, I hope he was cheating on her.” Steve whispers, Bucky can’t believe it but he agrees with Steve, hoping against all odds that you weren’t the woman Brock would talk about. “This incredible woman has been hurt enough, the last thing I want to do is end up in a fight over her especially if it could cost me my best friend.” Bucky looks at Steve and nods. “I can’t deny what you two have, I can see it. Had she walked out first she would have chosen you.” Bucky goes to interrupt but Steve won’t let him. “Yet I can’t help but feel a connection with her, Buck.” Steve sighs, “I’m not gonna back down. I’m not gonna be macho, alpha man and ‘stake my claim on her’ but I’m also not gonna give up without a honorable fight. So may the best man, Win.” Bucky laughs to himself and nods. He reaches a hand out and shakes Steve’s while they stand up.
“I intend to, Stevie!” He jokes and Steve laughs, patting his back and heading off to the bedroom.
Tumblr media
“So Everly, are you gonna wear a sexy little outfit tonight? Or are you sleeping alone?” Wanda asks. You look at your options and decide to throw caution to the wind.
“You know what?! Why the hell not!” You grab a little black Teddie. It’s lace but not seen through and still leaves quite a bit to the imagination.
“What about this?” You hold it up to get their opinions. You Wanda squeals and Natasha smirks.
“Well now I want to cuddle in bed with you.” Natasha teases and you laugh, giving her hip a bump with yours.
“And I want to wash and borrow it!” Wanda says. You laugh.
“We will see!” You say and Wanda takes that as a yes. They both get quiet and go stone cold, you turn to see what caused it, Peggy stands in the doorway, all changed and ready for bed. She puts her stuff down and heads into the bedroom. You hear Steve’s voice say, ‘Absolutely not, we can talk in the morning in clear view of others.’ You hear her shuffle away and settle on a bed, looking back at Natasha and Wanda, you can’t help but smile a little.
“Bet that felt nice to hear Stevie say.” Natasha says, teasing Steve in the process with his little nickname. You nod and beam at her.
“It really did. Now you two go to bed, I need to shower and I’ll meet y’all in there.” They shuffle to bed and leave you to it. It’s the quickest shower of your life and you rush through some of your steps, not wanting to keep everyone up even later, the lights won’t go off till everyone is in bed. You braid your hair and step into your slippers. You give yourself one final check and make your way out to the bedroom. You expect to find everyone asleep but instead everyone is awake and talking. Except when they see you. The boys stop talking and their jaws drop. You feel slightly bad because even Jake is putting his glasses back on to get a good look at you.
“Wow, Everly. You look-“ Steve starts to say but is interrupted.
“Stunning” Bucky says, his eyes gleaming as he looks at you.
“Incredible” Sam admits as he sits up in bed.
“Wow,” is all Jake says before he turns back to Wanda and gives her a sheepish look. She pats his face and then takes his glasses back off.
“You had your look, now bed.” She says and Jake blushes before he snuggles up to Wanda, but not before throwing another glance your way. Steve lifts your side of the covers and you slip off your slippers and climb into bed with him. You notice he is shirtless and he has the same type of boxer briefs that Bucky has. They are tight in all the right places and you want to get a better look, maybe later. You see a steady blush creep up on Steve’s cheeks and it spreads down his neck and across his chest. It’s really cute and you wonder if that blush spreads everywhere or if it just stops at his peck.
“Hi,” he whispers as you two lay down and he pulls the covers over you both. The lights finally go out and there is a collective sigh of relief. Steve reaches out and brushes your hair back from your face, grazing his thumb across your cheek.
“Hi,” you answer back. You move a little closer.
“I want to be respectful, so I want to ask,” he takes a breath, “do you want to cuddle? Or would you rather your own space tonight. I don’t mind either way.” You bite your lip as you think, a cuddle wouldn’t be so bad, would it? Besides, it’s been months since you were last cuddled.
“I’d love a cuddle.” You admit, you can see Steve’s smile even in the dark. You go to turn over to be the little spoon when Steve stops you.
“Oh, you know- I’m kinda the little spoon usually.” You can’t hide the shock on your face. You shouldn’t have assumed but he did offer the cuddles so you naturally thought he’d be the one holding you. You try to find you voice but he soon is laughing and pulling you close into his big arms. “Sorry I had to,” you laugh and poke his side before you turn over.
“Not funny.” You pretend to pout. He laughs and kisses your head.
“It was a little funny.” He says and you have to agree. For the first time in months you fall asleep in a man’s arms and you don’t worry about your safety, wellbeing, or if he’s cheating on you. It’s been one heck of a day and it’s only day one. You just pray the rest of the summer isn’t as exciting.

Drabble: Smooth Hips Turner
Today is @nomadicpixel birthday and a few days ago I asked if there was something she'd like me to write her for birthday. Her answer was something hockey romance, with either Cole Turner, Andy Barber or Colin Shea. I had an idea immediately... but that one didn't work out... and I'd given up all hopes of actually being able to write something when this little scene popped into my head this afternoon. Enjoy!

Title: Smooth Hips Turner
Pairing: Cole Turner x female reader

"Is that who I think it is?"
You barely heard your friend's question, but turned in the direction she was looking and found yourself locking eyes with the "who" in question.
Cole Turner.
You knew him as your younger brother's childhood best friend.
Everyone else in the bar knew him as Cole "Smooth Hips" Turner, the new free agent goalie for the local professional hockey team.
"Oh my god, he's coming this way!" your friend exclaimed.
As he made his way towards you, stopped nearly every foot by an excited patron, you tried to recall the last time you'd seen him. The only for sure meeting you could remember was his and your brother's high school graduation nearly twenty years ago. He'd been 18 at the time and you'd been 20.
The years had been good to him, you saw. 4 years in college hockey and 16 at the professional level had done him good. Gone was the lanky teenager who had helped your brother annoy you. In his place, was a rock solid man, with a full beard, perfectly tufted hair and a charming smile.
"Well I'll be damned," his voice declared as he finally reached the table. "I heard you lived here, but I didn't think I'd run into you on my first night in town."
"And here I was trying to avoid you," you teased as you stood up to give him a hug.
It wasn't until you turned to introduce Cole to your friend that you saw that she was gaping at the pair of you in shock.
"Hi, I'm Cole," he said, holding out his hand to her.
She just blinked at him.
"Sorry," you said, slightly embarrassed by her behavior. Sitting down, you snapped your fingers in front of her face and she blinked.
"Oh my god," she whispered. "You know Smooth Hips?"
Cole flushed at the nickname, but sat down at the table and said, "I grew up next door to her. Her brother is my best friend." Then he added, conspiratorially, "I had the biggest crush on her as a teenager."
"Wait what?" you said. "You didn't."
"I swear I did," he said, leaning back in his seat. "It's the only secret I've ever kept from your brother."
"Did you have a crush on him?" your friend asked. "Is that why you keep the magazine where he's basically naked in your bedside table?"
Cole let out a shocked laugh while you wanted to climb under the table and hide.
Instead, you glared at your friend and she just shrugged as if to say "paybacks a bitch" for not telling her about Cole in the first place.
"I like you," Cole said, pointing at your friend. Then he turned back to you. "I've been here a few times to play, obviously, but I've never really gotten to explore. Wanna show an old friend around and catch up?"
"She'd love to," your friend answered for you. Then she nudged you with her elbow. "Give him your phone number."
After giving Cole your number, he said goodbye and went to join his friends at another table.
"You're welcome," your friend said.
You raised an eyebrow.
"I just got you a date with the hottest guy in hockey," she stated then grinned. "And if you're lucky, maybe he'll show you in person how he does those stretches he posts about on his socials that you like watching so much."
You shoved your friend's shoulder while she cackled.

Get slut out & choked by baby daddy Ari or get handcuff by Colin. How would you describe your night with either one of them?
Why Not Both?
Tumblr media
Summary: you’re dating Colin but Ari is your ex.
Pairings: Baby Daddy! Ari Levinson x Black! Reader x Boyfriend! Colin Shea
Warnings: minors dni, smut, mmf, rough sex, non/dub con, degradation, handcuffs, choking, cuckolding, oral sex
(A/N: idk what’s up with me and threesomes lately but I’m poly so 🤷🏾‍♀️ anyway like, follow, reblog with comment 💜 ✌🏾)
———-—————-—-—————-———
You looked up at Ari with watery eyes, still couldn’t believe that this was even happening.
It wasn’t like you and Ari were together and yet he was still a jealous bastard when he heard you’d been seeing someone. Like he was trying to have some kind of pissing contest. Going off on you about how he wasn’t going to let you have some man around his son.
You hadn’t even introduced them so he literally had nothing to worry about. It wasn’t supposed to be all this and yet here the fuck you were.
To be honest you didn’t even know that they knew each other. It wasn’t like it had been planned. You hadn’t been expecting to meet someone. You think Ari was just so used to have you in the back burner that he didn’t know what to do with himself now. Was used to not having to commit while getting unlimited pussy.
Then you told him that was enough and he scoffed and told you, “bet.”
Your son had gone to your sister’s for a sleepover with his cousins when you’d gotten in the house. Seeing him sitting there with your date in front. The two of them laughing like things were normal. Making you stop in your tracks.
“Ari, what- what’re you doing here? Thomas isn’t here.”
“I know,” he replied with a smirk. “Colin and I were just talking. You gotta problem with that?”
You raised an eyebrow because well yeah kind of, but before you could say anything Colin stood up. Putting his hands on your hips so he could kiss your cheek then grabbed your hand.
“Nah, she’s gonna be a good girl. Aren’t you?” Colin asked with a smirk.
Sure you’d heard all about his reputation. Had been told it would just be better to stay away, but so far everything had been good. The two of you hadn’t even had sex yet. He’d been pretty patient with you.
“You know all this time, I thought maybe you’d been playing hard to get but then I find out that you have a man this whole time and you didn’t tell me.” He chuckled.
You laughed glancing over at Ari and shaking your head. “No, we’re-,”
“It’s okay,” he cooed before placing a big kiss in your lips. “We already talked about what we’re going to do to you. Gotta make it up to us that you were trying to play games.”
“I wasn’t!” You protested.
He grabbed your face. Squeezing your cheeks between his hands. “You don’t have to lie to me, but you do have to make it up to me.”
That’s when he grabbed you making you turn around so your back was to his chest. Putting his nose in your ear.
“You can do that for me, can’t you?” He whispered into your ear. Grabbing your hands as Ari stood up to stand in front of you.
He grabbed your face forcing you to look up at him. “I told him how much of a fucking slut you’ve been,” Ari said, just as the snap of metal went around both wrists.
“Wait,” you said, trying to pull away, but Colin gripped your arm a little tighter. “Hey!”
“All you have to do is listen,” Ari said with a curl in his lip, his fingertips pressing harder against your cheeks then finally moving down to your neck.
That’s when Colin started copping a feel. His hands coming to grope your tits. Pinching your nipples and making you jump as he pushed his crotch against your ass. “We’re not gonna hurt you too bad,” Colin whispered in your ear. “You know I would never hurt you, Baby.”
With that he picked you up. Made you gasp and kick even though your hands were tied. Neither him or Ari giving a shit when the protests started spilling from your mouth as they carried you to your bedroom.
As your hands were tied they couldn’t just pull your shirt off, but goddamn Colin was just dying to see your tits. If ripping it off was the way to go so fucking be it. “Colin!” You yelled.
“I’ll buy you a new one, Baby,” he said with a wink.
“Please don’t rip my bra,” you begged. “It was expensive.”
“I’ll. Buy. You. A. New. One,” Colin said. Rubbing your cheek before picking you back up so he could shove you to the ground.
It wasn’t like you and Colin hadn’t messed around yet. It’s just you hadn’t had sex. Now he was taking turns with Ari shoving his dick down your throat.
Ari grabbed your hair as he fucked your face. Colin took out his phone so he could film it. The both of them clearly having fun with using your mouth. Laughing over you.
When they had their fill they picked you back up to place you on the bed. Ass in the air and nowhere to hide as they started playing with you. Fingers going into your pussy as the other one smacked your ass.
They were treating you like some kind of sex toy. Normally that would have been fine, but it had just caught you so off guard. All you could do was take it as they both had their ways with you.
Then Ari sat back. Wanting to watch as Colin filled you up. Fisting his cock. Tossing out words at you that he knew you liked to hear.
“Damn, Baby, you should have told me you liked this kind of shit before. Coulda been fucking you like this sooner,” Colin said into your ear as he made you cum for the umpteenth time.
That was the worst part. Was that you were so responsive. You couldn’t help it though. Ari knew you. Knew you liked it rough. That even when you acted like you didn’t want it, all he had to do was show you that you did. That’s just the kind of little slut you were.
He was okay with another man fucking you, as long as he got his access.

Tumblr media
The party was raging.
People filled your living room and kitchen. They were on your deck, in your pool. Curtis scanned the area, trying to figure out where you’d gotten off to. He didn’t like not having eyes on you.
He checked his watch. It was well past three. Christ. It’d started with you declaring the club you were at “fucking dead” a little before midnight. A small group had followed you home and then they’d called their friends who’d called their friends who’d called their friends.
People milled around him. Whispers of “Did you hear whose house this is?” “I haven’t seen her, yet. Have you?” “My cousin invited me. He knows her publicist’s assistant’s roommate.”
One woman stumbled over to him. “Hey!” she whisper-yelled. “How much for two?”
“What.” he growled.
“Two!” she repeated, shoving two fingers in his face. “How much?”
Just as Curtis was about to lose it completely, her friend crashed into her. “What are you doing?” The friend asked. She looked at how her companion was holding her bag, ready to remove the correct amount of cash, then up at Curtis and let out a wild cackle. “No!” she said. “That’s her bodyguard!”
“What?” The first woman asked. “You said the guy in all black in the corner.”
The friend’s laughter was nearly uncontrollable now. “Yeah, that corner!” She raised an arm and gestured to the other side of the house.
“Oh my god!” screeched the first woman and also into giggles, as they thankfully made their way somewhere fucking else.
Curtis pushed himself off the wall. He needed to find you.
You weren’t in the kitchen, or out by the pool. He’d already been in the living room. He finally found you on the stairs up to the bedrooms, slumped against the wall. He crouched in front of you and said your name a few times before finally getting your attention.
“Mmm, Curtis,” you said, your eyes half-closed. “I’m sleepy.”
He sighed. “Well, it’s almost four in the morning, so that makes sense.”
“I’m gonna go t’bed.” You grabbed the railing above your head and put all of your weight on it as you tried to lift yourself. You faltered and he reached out, a hand on your hip to steady you. “Oh boy,” you whispered as you tried again to right yourself. “Bedtime.”
Curtis said your name again, trying and failing to keep his frustration at bay. “Your house is still full of people.”
You were moving up the stairs now and waved dismissively to him behind you. “Get rid of ‘em. I’m done.”
That’s not my job was at the tip of his tongue, but arguing with you right now would be useless. So he followed you up the stairs to make sure you didn’t fall and excused himself once you were safely in your bedroom. In the hallway, he took a deep breath, trying to push down the anger and frustration he felt. It wasn’t his job. He shouldn’t have to do it. But he would.
Back downstairs, he went straight to your sound panel and cut the music to the whole house. “Alight!” he bellowed. “Party’s over. Get the fuck out!” He had no energy for niceties at this point.
As people, very slowly, started milling out of your house, there was a heavy and demanding banging at your door. He grumbled and made his way to the front, finding two cops standing there. Fucking shit.
Opening it, he plastered on what he hoped but doubted was a friendly smile. “Morning, officers. How can I help you?”
“Is the homeowner here?” one cop asked while the other craned his head around to try to get a look inside. It did not seem to be a professional curiosity. Goddamnit.
“The homeowner,” he said, trying to give away as little information as possible, “is asleep. But I work here. What can I do for you?”
The first cop straightened. “Well, sir, we’ve had several noise complaints from the neighbors tonight. Looks like you all had quite the party.”
He gave the slightest nod of acknowledgment. “But as you can see, everyone’s going home now.” Curtis moved over slightly to make sure his large frame filled the doorway. Who knew what was still going on behind him?
The officer watched the people stumbling out around him for a moment. “Well–”
“I’m sure,” Curtis interrupted, “that she’d be incredibly appreciative if you let her off with a warning. Just this once. And I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again.” He hoped it was worth the slight acknowledgment of who you were to avoid making this an even bigger problem.
The cop looked around again and then nodded. “Since everything’s already breaking up here. And you promise you’ll make sure she’s more responsible next time?” He looked to Curtis who nodded, knowing it was a big, fat lie. “Alright, yeah, I think a warning’s all that’s needed here. You have a good rest of your night.”
Curtis’s sigh of relief was cut short by the other cop stepping forward. A closer look revealed how young he was, early 20s. “Hey,” he said, “could you tell her that I really loved her in Sweet Sixteen? I used to have that Teen Vogue cover up in my locker.” Curtis tried not to grimace as the young man fished a card out of his breast pocket and held it out to Curtis. “And maybe give this to her? I know she just broke up with that guy, but I gotta shoot my shot, right?” He was lucky that Curtis just silently took the card instead of commenting on the fucking audacity. It was too late/early to deal with any of this bullshit.
“Well,” he said, trying to prevent an awkward moment and get out of this while he was technically ahead, “really appreciate you both coming out here. Have a good night.” The instant the cops started turning around, Curtis closed the door. He immediately tore up the cop’s card and added it to the mess of the living room.
He spent the next hour or so going through the house, kicking out the stragglers and making sure nothing was irreparably damaged. By the time he was done, it was just about five o’clock. Christ. He stood by the door. He could leave. He should leave. He’d done more than enough. He clenched and unclenched his hands once, twice, three times. He turned around and went to your kitchen, filling a large glass of water. Then he got two aspirin from your medicine cabinet. He took it all into your bedroom and set it on your nightstand. He checked to make sure you were sleeping on your side, then pulled your trash can so it was right next to the bed. Ok, now he could go.
Tumblr media
It was after six when he finally got home. He sent a text to Michelle as he got off his bike.
Hey, I’m just getting home now. Last night was bad. She threw a party, cops came. Just a warning for noise complaints, but I’m sure the whole thing will be on TMZ in a few hours. Going to bed. Don’t know when I’ll be in. Only call if you absolutely need me.
He looked at it for a moment, then added
There needs to be a conversation about what my job actually entails
He knew Michelle wasn’t the right person to send that last bit to. She wasn’t his boss. But he was exhausted and he needed someone to know that he was at the end of his rope.
You were going through a hard time, he knew that. You’d ended your relationship with Colin in spectacular fashion, posting a picture to your Instagram stories of the flowers he’d sent the day after your fight on the deck lying in your trashcan, his apology note fluttering above them with the text “No thanks @ColinSheaOfficial.” It hadn’t been your most thought-through decision. Tanya had freaked out and it was deleted 15 minutes later, but it was too late. The post had immediately gone viral. Colin hadn’t been happy and had spent the last month telling anyone who would listen (bro-y podcasts, mostly) how awful it’d been to date you – you were unstable, too needy, a cold fish in bed. That had gone viral too. If Curtis thought he’d get away with it, he’d have driven out to Colin’s house and taken care of the asshole, himself. But his connection to you was too documented.
You weren’t handling it well. Of course, you weren’t.  But Curtis felt like, while everyone else was doing damage control on how it was affecting your career, he was the one left to pick up the pieces of you as a person. If things had been too much for him before, they were becoming near impossible to deal with now.
It didn’t help matters that after your night on the couch together, you’d started to put some distance between the two of you. He understood. It was the right thing to do. This was his job. You weren’t friends, he was your employee. (Sort of. In a roundabout way. Technically, he worked for your manager. But still.) He couldn’t be your friend and do his job to the best of his ability. Trying to do both compromised your safety. He’d been ignoring that truth for too long. It had been inappropriate for him to stay that night when you’d asked him to. He shouldn’t have done it, no matter how often he’d thought about it after – the way you’d looked fresh out of the shower, how his fingertips had brushed against yours, your thigh resting against–
So the distance was needed. But it meant that all he was able to do was trail after you as you self-combusted with a determination he wasn’t sure he’d ever seen before. And it couldn’t be his job to hold you together. It was taking a toll. Something had to give.
He entered his house through the back, straight into his kitchen. He stopped in the doorway, surprised to see Edgar sitting at the island in his pajamas, eating cereal. “You’re up early.”
Edgar shrugged. “Didn’t hear you come in last night.”
“Yeah,” Curtis said, bending over to take off his boots. “Had to work really late.”
Edgar just nodded and took a bite of cereal. Curtis finished with his boots and took off his leather jacket, hanging it by the door. He was about to excuse himself to his room when Edgar spoke again.
“I have an interview lined up for this week.”
“Yeah?” Curtis grinned. “That’s great!”
“Mhmm,” Edgar hummed, looking into his cereal bowl as he continued. “If it works out, I probably won’t be able to afford my own place right away, but I swear, I’ll save up and get out of your hair as soon as I can–”
“Hey, no,” Curtis interrupted. “I told you, that room is yours for however long you want it. No strings attached.” Curtis had known Edgar since the kid had been in diapers, ending up in the same foster home right before Curtis had turned eighteen. He’d been the only one who’d been able to calm the kid down when he’d had a tantrum. After he’d aged out, he’d done his best to keep in touch with Edgar and now that Edgar had aged out of the system himself, Curtis was determined to do whatever he could to help him. Especially if that meant he could prevent Edgar from making the same desperate choices he had. He didn’t regret joining the army, per se, (he was mostly ambivalent at best about his experiences there, but it had opened up opportunities after he was discharged) but it had felt like it was the only choice for him at the time, and he didn’t want that for Edgar. So if having a place to stay that he didn’t have to pay for would help, then that’s what Curtis would give him. “Listen, I want to hear all about this interview, but I’m fucking exhausted right now. I need to crash. We’ll talk later, ok?”
Edgar nodded but furrowed his brow. “Everything alright?”
Curtis nodded and tried to smile at him. “Just a long fucking day. I’ll see you later.”
When he finally got to his room, he let out a sigh of relief as he collapsed onto his bed. His phone buzzed in his pocket. He took it out to find a response from Michelle.
I’m going to have to tell Tanya. Fucking fuck fuck!
Curtis tossed the phone onto the other side of the bed. Yeah. Fucking fuck fuck sounded about right.
When he woke up late that afternoon, he had another message from Michelle.
She’s so fucking hungover. You don’t need to come in. She isn’t going anywhere. See you tomorrow.
So he ordered pizza with Edgar and they watched TV until Edgar fell asleep on the couch. It was a good night.
Tumblr media
The next day he got to your house just before noon. On days when nothing was scheduled, you never started early. He stopped short when he saw two cars he recognized in your driveway.
Michelle was sitting at your kitchen island, staring at her laptop, one hand scrolling down the trackpad, the other nervously tapping the counter.
Curtis helped himself to an organic juice from your fridge as he greeted her and asked, “Wilford and Tanya are here?”
“Mhmm,” she said, not looking up.
“House call’s not a good sign.”
“Nope.” She looked up at him, more haggard-looking than he was used to. “You still pissed?”
He sighed. “Not pissed. Tired. Frustrated.” He paused to take a sip of juice. “Worried.”
“She’s fine,” Michelle said, “she just needs to reprioritize.”
“That what this house call’s about?” he asked.
She grimaced. “She lost that big ensemble movie. The director cited his ‘no assholes’ policy.”
“She isn’t an asshole.”
“No,” Michelle agreed, “but she’s getting a reputation as one. High maintenance.”
He glanced out the doors to your patio, where he could just see the edge of you. “So it’s a Come to Jesus talk.”
“Mhmm.”
“I don’t suppose they’re going to do anything to actually help her?”
“They’ll get her career back on track if she listens.”
“That’s not what I meant, and you know it,” Curtis scowled.
“Listen,” she said, pushing her computer away and giving him her full attention, “my job is the same as yours – get her where she needs to go, on time and in one piece.”
“Yeah?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. “And how do you think we’re doing on that ‘in one piece’ part?”
“She’s blowing off steam, that’s all.”
He snorted. “Sure, if you say so. But you’re never around for that part, are you?”
“Curtis–”
He shook his head, “I need to talk to her when they’re done,” then went to wait in the living room.
Tumblr media
Wilford and Tanya left about half an hour later. Curtis watched them go, arms crossed over his chest. Wilford, especially, he did not like. They’d only been in the same room a handful of times, but Curtis would swear he could see the dollar signs in Wilford’s eyes every time he looked at you. If Curtis had his way, that man wouldn’t be able to get anywhere near you.
But that was part of the problem, this protective streak Curtis had for you. It wasn’t serving him. And it obviously wasn’t serving you either. It wasn’t helping anything. Protection was the job but from the outside world. Not from your own team. Not from yourself. He needed to get his act together. Set some boundaries. And that’s what he was going to do.
He let himself out onto your deck, expecting to find you lounging by the pool, in a swimsuit probably, maybe a drink in your hand. Instead, you were sitting at your outdoor dining table, knees pulled up to your chest, staring off into nothing, wearing leggings and an oversized sweatshirt. You looked awful, hair sloppily pulled together on top of your head, red-rimmed eyes, a blank expression on your face. He stopped short. Maybe this wasn’t the right time to do this. But he knew that if he waited it wouldn’t happen. And maybe this was the right time, maybe he’d actually be able to have a conversation about everything with you.
He softly called your name and when you looked over at him he added, “We need to talk about the other night.”
“Oh, great,” you said, tone flat. “You here to yell at me too? Fun.”
“I don’t want to yell,” he said, sitting down across from you. He didn’t want to hover over you. “Just talk.”
You sighed impatiently. “Well, go on. Let’s get this over with. How have I disappointed you today?”
He said your name again, as gently as he could, but your reaction was the opposite of what he wanted. You looked down, shoulders coming up to your ears. Regardless of your size, you looked so small. The smallest he’d ever seen you. But he had to do this. So he plowed ahead.
“What happened the other night, at your party, that can’t happen again. I can’t be responsible for what happens in your house when you aren’t there. I have a very specific job. You don’t get to just use me however you see fit. I’m not here to clean up after you. Kicking people out of your house, dealing with the cops–” He shook his head. “I’m not your bouncer or your babysitter.”
He saw you flinch at his last word, but you came back with a glower. “Is that all?” you asked.
“No,” he shook his head. “I’m also not going to be working any more 16-hour days. That isn’t fair to me.”
“Are you going to quit?” you asked, voice somewhere between angry and pleading.
“I don’t want to,” he said, keeping his voice firm, “but I’m serious that what happened was unacceptable.”
You swallowed visibly and nodded. He waited for you to say something, but when you didn’t, he asked, “Are you ok?”
Your head shot up. “What?”
There was something in your eyes that told him to proceed with caution, but he still repeated his question. “Are you alright?”
You looked at him carefully for a moment, then "Are you my friend?"
Now it was his turn to ask "What?"
"You said you aren't my bouncer or my babysitter," you said with a challenge in your eyes. "So what are you? Are you my friend?"
He had to look away, understanding now what you were doing. "No," he said quietly, "I'm not your friend. I'm just your bodyguard."
He hadn’t looked up yet, unable to tear his focus from his hands in his lap, but he could feel you nodding in his periphery. “Right,” you said, voice low. “Then whether or not I’m okay doesn’t really matter to you, does it?”
Shit. He had fucked this up so completely and so quickly that he wasn’t sure exactly where it had gone wrong. He looked up to find you twisted around to stare over your pool, your knees still tight to your chest, your hand visibly gripping your chair for dear life. He breathed out your name, but you just shook your head.
“No, I get it,” you said. “You’re here to do a job. Because I pay you to do it. I understand. Consider me put in my place.” Your hand not holding the chair swiped furiously at your face, wiping away a few stray tears that fell down your cheek. You took a deep breath. “I’d like you to go away now.”
He stood up, wanting to give you what you asked, but he just couldn’t seem to pull himself away from you. He wanted to reach out to you, touch you, give you some sort of comfort, but what fucking right did he have to do that?
“Curtis, please,” your broken whisper was what it finally took to get him to move. He paused at the glass door back into the house. He wanted to say something, but he had no idea what. So finally, he ducked his head and went back into the house.
He tried to pass through as quickly as he could, but when he walked by Michelle, she started, “Hey, how’d it g–”
“I need a fucking minute,” he growled out.
Tumblr media
He slammed out the front door of your house and began to pace behind your privacy fence. What the fuck had happened? It wasn’t supposed to go like that. He should’ve been able to set professional boundaries without feeling like he was tearing his own heart out. He’d done it before, countless jobs and assignments, where he’d drawn lines and it’d been expected and appreciated. It’d never hurt like this. No job he’d had had ever been this messy, this difficult, this all-consuming.
That was the problem, wasn’t it? His mind was always here, always on the job. He thought about you all the time. He worried about you constantly. You were always on his mind. My god, if he didn’t know any better, he’d say–
He froze next to your gate. No. No no no no no. Absolutely not. He could not. That– That was not possible. He started to walk again. Now that he’d let it in, this goddamn intrusive thought just got bigger and bigger as he paced around until he couldn’t ignore it anymore.
He was in love with you.
What a fucking disaster. He almost laughed. And he’d worried he couldn’t properly protect you when he thought you might be friends. He was completely fucking compromised now. He should quit. He needed to quit. He should quit. He should quit. He should quit.
But the idea of leaving you hurt even worse than he already did. You weren’t ok. It was obvious. And even though he had no idea how to help you, he couldn’t abandon you. He wouldn’t do that. Not ever. Not until you asked him to leave. Which you eventually would. Of course, you would. What could he possibly offer you when you already had all this? But he would stay until that moment. As pathetic as it was, he didn’t think he could do anything else.
The gate opened and he had to scramble to get out of the way of the car that drove in. It stopped on the driveway next to him and the driver’s side window rolled down. Jensen leaned out. “Hey man, you okay?”
Curtis just stared at him for a moment before he got his bearings. “I’m fine.”
Jensen looked at him skeptically. “You sure?”
“I’m fine, Jake!” he gritted out. Without giving Jensen time to respond, he continued, “I’ll meet you inside. I want to go over the exit plan for her appearance tomorrow.”
“Again?” Jensen asked.
“Yes, again. We need to be prepared.”
Jensen gave him a look and sat back. “Yeah, sure whatever you say,” then finally began driving to the back of the house.
Curtis put his head in his hands. He felt so fucking transparent. Everyone must know. Looking back, it felt so incredibly obvious. But no one had said anything. You certainly hadn’t, so he was hopefully safe there.
He took a deep breath. This was fine. He’d tamp it down. He’d ignore it. He’d do his fucking job. He began walking up the path back to your front door. He’d be there when you needed him and that would be enough.
It’d be enough.

“Bambi!” Colin calls as he flips through movies before settling on a sexual one. Smirking to himself, he hears the patter of feet running towards him. He turns his head and watches his tiny roommate run into the room, a giant smile on her face as her arms are full of snacks. Dropping everything down onto the small coffee table before planting herself next to Colin.
Her doe-like eyes stare at the tv screen before darting to Colin. “What are we watching?” Colin holds back the smirk that threatens to come out and moves his arm behind Y/n’s head. “Just a new one, Bambi. You trust me, right?” Her eyes widen even more. Launching herself towards him, hands latched onto his topless form. “I do! I do! I trust you so much!” Tears brim at her waterline.
Colin strokes her cheek, “hey, it’s okay, Bambi. Now, are you comfy? Do you need to change before we start?” His eyes check out how cute she looks in his ‘lick me’ shirt and how well her ass looks in those plain white cotton knickers with the little pink bow on the front. His cock twitches as he can see the outline of Y/n’s cute little pussy. Y/n curls her legs up, pulling the blanket Colin brought in against her, making sure to place some on him so he doesn’t get cold.
“I’m comfy. Watch movie now?” Your doe eyes cause his cock to harden in his grey trackies. He nods, bringing you closer, and having you snuggle into his side. He grabs the remote, presses play, and the movie starts. During the film, they whisper, eat snacks and cuddle. Colin takes a sharp breath as her hand grazes his cock. Y/n looks up. “Are you okay?” Colin quickly nods.
As you both focus on the movie again, an incredibly steamy sex scene emerges. Colin feels the couch move slightly before noticing that you are squirming. Your bottom lip is between your teeth as your eyes are glued to the tv, Colin’s face is facing the screen, but his eyes keep flickering between you and the screen. Colin’s ears pick up a soft whimper exiting your lips as the man in the movie goes down on the woman.
There’s some movement in the corner of his eye. He turns slightly and watches your small hand slip between your thighs. Colin’s mouth opens, shocked. His eyes are no longer focused on the ‘movie’; instead, his gaze is laser-focused on your fingers. Those fingers are rubbing that little button you hide from him. Your fingers are doing the figure eight motion, eyes dazed as your mouth drops open, and soft whimpers constantly exit your mouth.
His cock, twitches, wanting attention. His thick heavy member is hardened underneath his trackies. He watches your head roll back, your eyes half-lidded. His gaze then focuses back on your fingers before slipping his hand into his pants. Slowly stroking his cock, grazing the tip with his thumb, rubbing the pre-cum that leaks out of it around. His eyes threaten to close, but Colin doesn’t want to miss out on your cute little facial expressions and how you innocently touch your clit.
Colin wraps his hand around his throbbing cock, taking his time stroking it, giving his cock a squeeze, tightening his grip as he twists his wrist while stroking up and down. Colin runs his thumb over his tip now and then, the movie is forgotten. Colin hears a slight whine leave you, your hand slipping underneath your knickers. A soft gasp leaves your lips, your fingers grazing your clit before slipping down to your small hole, wanting to get rid of the tingly feeling you are feeling.
A finger slips in, and a moan falls from your lips. It’s as if you’ve forgotten Colin was there, but he wasn’t complaining. His cock throbs in his hand, enjoying how you let out little sounds of pleasure. Colin’s eyes are dazed, watching your fingers speed up, curling into your spot. A louder but still soft moan leaves you. The room is filled with the groans from the movie, the whimpers and whines coming from your lips and the silent panting coming from Colin’s.
Squeezing the head of his cock, his hand starts to move faster, occasionally massaging his balls as Colin feels his end approaching. He squeezes the base to stop himself from cumming, wanting to see you cum first. He notices you start curling into yourself, back arching and fingers fastening, “oh… oh… Colin…” His name falls faintly from your lips, causing his cock to twitch wildly before his cum shoots out of him, covering the inside of his pants. You whine while cumming, once you are both done. Your face turns a bright red, noticing Colin looking at you, his face flushed, sweat gathered on his forehead and neck, his eyes completely black, a dark look on his face. Your eyes travel down his body wide, noticing his chest wet before focusing on the damp patch forming in his pants. Subconsciously licking your lips at the sight, imagining what it would taste like, the movie still playing in the background.
“I… um…” Colin leans closer, grabbing the hand that remains in your knickers. He pulls it out. Keeping eye contact while he brings it closer, the fingers glisten when the light hits them. Colin brings them toward his mouth before wrapping his lips around them and sucking your juices off, swirling his tongue around them, not wanting to miss your taste. His eyes darken as he stares into your eyes, tasting you on his tongue.
Your doe eyes are filled with lust, and soft whimpers leave you as you feel the tingles come back, slick, gathering between your thighs. Colin pulls your fingers out of his mouth, licking his lips. He tucks a piece of hair that has fallen behind your ear.
“What was that, Bambi?” You blink, unsure. You shrug, your brows furrowed as you fold into yourself.
“I… We… You put on the– the movie and– and,” Y/n takes a deep breath, thinking you’ve done something wrong. “I– I got these tingles….” Nervously tugging on his shirt, Colin licks his lips at the sight, especially knowing you touched yourself while wearing it. He’ll never wash it again.
“How about I show you a better way to get rid of those tingles, Bambi?” Colin watches you squirm and rub your thighs together, nodding softly while staring at him with those big innocent eyes he has dreams about.
He quickly grabs and picks you up, heading off to the bedroom. Smirking, the porn left on TV was still playing.

Series master list right here
The day was new, sadly, after last night you didn’t know if leaving your room was a good option in the first place, well of course you’d live, but the embarrassment you felt at the moment made you feel like the world was ending. You always felt a little sensitive and awkward towards every little situation that came your way. When you say it in your head it always sounds like a bad thing even though there are worse things in the world, and you shouldn’t even come close to feeling unfortunate in any situation–or thats what your mother would tell you, at a point your life your mother used to make you feel vain–blaming you for your fathers death saying it was your fault, of course you knew your mother had loved you, I mean she was also going through the grief of losing her husband, you shouldn’t be selfish–thats what she would also tell you.
After a long two hours of laying in bed, you rolled in bed and looked at your alarm clock that read 9:23am, and you could already hear the shuffling and laughter of the boys in the kitchen, deciding to just suffer through it and just hope nobody brings up the previous night, they all probably forgot about it by now, right? You could only hope because you sure haven’t forgotten.
Making your way down the hall where the chuckling and the sizzling of bacon started to make itself more present as you stepped into the kitchen, your head automatically goes down towards the floor when the chatter abruptly stops–the awkward sizzling of bacon mocking you as you walk towards the bread.
Andy stops and turns toward you with a small smile while leaning on the marble countertop, finally deciding to break the silence, “good morning honey, I made breakfast if you’re interested, bacon and uh maybe some pancakes if Johnny will save some for the rest of us.” he says the last part while turning towards a shirtless johnny stuffing his mouth full, mumbling out a “sorry”.
You tilt your head up toward Andy, and grab the bread, “no thanks Andy, maybe later–thanks though–well not that I don’t want any it's just-” you stutter out, until Andy interrupts you with a soft chuckle.
Andy walks behind you–tucking a piece of hair behind your ear before he leaned down to press a small kiss to your temple, “Oh pumpkin, what am I gonna do with you hm? With your cute self.” your cheeks tinted red, and besides that you could hear Johnny, and Colin snickering–probably making fun of you.
Not really knowing how to respond, but suddenly another thought comes to mind–where's your mother? Now curious, you turned and asked Andy, face still red as a beet, “um- where's my mom?” Andy half listens to you as he plays with your hair softly.
“She’s on a business trip, won’t be back for a few weeks, so you get to spend some alone time with us.” Andy says as he smirks.
You advert your gaze back to the toaster and give him a quick “okay”, before turning back around he huffs dramatically grabbing his keys swiftly, but before he heads out, he stops before the two chuckling boys.
“You boys be nice, treat her good until I get home, okay? Oh honey, if you need anything just give me a call, okay? Johnny should help you with anything, if not, I’ll be back around 11:00. Be good you two.”, and at that Andy was out the door, now it’s just you and them.
Johnny sighed and got up dramatically, “I’m gonna go take a shower, you kids have fun.” he said as he walked toward his bedroom.
Now it was just Colin and you, but as soon as you heard the toaster pop up, you scurried to your room–not even bothering to grab the butter–once you got to your room, closing the door you sighed and switched your phone on for the next hour.
💼
After another 30 minutes of contemplating if you should leave your room or not, you do. Opening the door slowly, and walking down the hall to the living room, where you thought watching TV would be an option for you, but Colin seemed to be taking up the couch and the entire atmosphere, and God was it intimidating.
Before you could turn away, and advance to the comfort of your own room–Colin stopped you abruptly. He threw his head back over the back of the couch, and called your name out.
“Hey!- don’t leave, come join me, I’m watching 21 jump street, I want you to come watch it with me.”
He sounded so demanding, but maybe that's just his way of expressing himself, so you watch as he scoots over a tad, and pats the spot next to him. This is when you seem to notice he doesn’t have a shirt on under his thin jacket, but you still sit down awkwardly next to him.
Suddenly he scoots closer to you, and wraps an arm around you, pulling you to him slightly as he says “relax baby, just getting comfortable, you wanna lay on me?”
“Oh, well I’m ok right now, I wouldn’t wanna-” he cuts you off by his own words, “cmon baby, I don’t mind, it's just some friendly cuddles, don’t gotta be all shy about it.” he says the last part chuckling.
You stay silent as he speaks again, “Here–I’ll help you.” Coin grunts a bit as he pulls you on top of him, and pushes your head onto his chest, softly stroking your hair. As much as you’d hate to admit it, it did feel kind of nice, maybe because he was nice and warm, and solid–Colin interrupts your train of thought when he speaks again.
“Isn’t this nice baby? All nice and relaxed…You're such a good girl, you know that?” he says with a mischievous glint in his voice while stroking your back, his voice still vibrating off of you he continues, “So, so quiet. Bet you're a virgin huh? All pure and untouched, from the way you're grinding on my dick and acting all innocent about it, you have to be.”
You feel stiff all the sudden, like you can’t move, now you're overly aware of the fact that his dick is poking your thigh. Then to make things worse he leans down toward your ear, “You know me, and Johnny talked about fucking you last night? Or how adorable you would look trying to wrap your lips around our cocks–and the tears that would run down that pretty face as we both fucked you till you couldn’t walk–or talk–bet you're a cock drunk bitch when you have the chance, huh?”
This is when you really started to freak out, trying to shove away from him eagerly, “Stop! Get off me! Andy will come back any time.”, and Colin just laughed at your plea, which made you slightly confused.
“Oh Baby, you poor girl, Andy’s the worst of both of us, if you knew all the dirty shit he’s said about you, you’d be crying–or well you already are–your new daddy just wants to pound you into his mattress until you're crying honey, and so much more.”
Your eyes widened at his statement, that couldn’t be, Andy cared about you..right? The thoughts that ran a million miles in your head suddenly got interrupted by another presence entering the room. Johnny.
Crying out for him as Colin licked and sucked on your neck, making you whimper pathetically in the process, “Johnny, please get him off of me..” you said pleadingly.
Johnny stared at you mockingly as he bent down to your level, where you still laid beneath Colin helplessly. He stroked the side of your face teasingly before he said, “Now why would I do that hm? Not when you’re whimpering so sweetly baby.” Colin then let up off you, leaning back into the couch, pulling you into his lap in the process as you felt your thighs subconsciously rub together.
After Johnny made his way beside you and Colin–sandwiching yourself between them as result, he stroked your thigh up and down, slowly making his way to your clothed core, “Look how fucking red you are, just from some teasing hm? you wanna feel me sweetheart? Don’t even try to hide how wet you are–bet you haven’t even had your first kiss yet.”
You had to be slightly surprised at his forwardness, no you haven’t had your first kiss yet, but you just told yourself that you're waiting for the right person. Colin chuckled at Johnny’s antics, this is also when you noticed that Johnny was not wearing a shirt–or pants for a matter of fact, this realization made you feel hotter all over.
Colin leaned over and looked at Johnny, “You know the old man won’t like it if we take her first kiss without him being here."
Johnny rolled his eyes and scoffed, still stroking your thighs, “Fuck that old geezer, I'm taking what's min-” Johnny got cut off by a loud slam of a door and jingling of car keys jingling. You three looked over toward the door to see Andy in the doorway, his arms crossed intimidatingly.
“what's going on here fellas..trying to break her in without me?” Andy said with a smirk as he reached the end of his sentence. He walked over to you slowly, and took your small face into both of his large hands, “And what about you honey? Having fun without daddy, hm? Good thing I’m here now.” He ends the last of his words with a chuckle.
Pleading for help wouldn’t even save you right now, after what Johnny and Colin just confessed to you–especially Andy–all you can do is hope for the best.
A/n: sorry for the short late chapter ya'll (I edited it at the end because the order was fucked up for those who were as confused as me.)

In The Middle Of The Night - Colin Shea x Reader
A/N: I wrote this ages ago with the plan of putting it into a series I had planned but I decided to scrap that series but still wanted to share this little scene I wrote for it!
Summary: In the middle of the night (in my dreams), you should see the things we do, baby.
Word Count: 581
Warnings: Fluff! Mention of Threesome!

It was the middle of the night and neither of you had fallen asleep yet. You’d gotten as far as lying in bed together but tiredness and sleep never found you. Instead, you both laughed and talked as you stared up at the ceiling as if you were star gazing.
Colin was listening as you recounted this story from your time at college. You were animatedly talking gesturing wildly with your hands. He smiled whenever you had to stop for a moment because you were laughing too much at the memory.
He moved his head to the side so he could watch you properly. Watching every mini expression you made as you talked. He loved how expressive you could get when you got excited about something. He could listen to you tell this story a million times and he wouldn’t mind because he would never get bored of hearing you talk. He could feel a swelling sensation in his chest when he looked at you as if his heart was taking up all the space. He realised in that exact moment that not only did he love you, but just how deeply he did.
“Oh,” he muttered.
“What?” You ask confused at his interruption.
“Nothing I just-“ he said quickly shaking his head trying to work out if he should say something.
“Ignore me” he waves it off, telling you to continue.
You chuckle at him before jumping straight back into your story while Colin just continued to listen. Except he wasn’t really listening, his mind stuck on the undeniable fact that he loved you. It was a secret that he wanted to scream from the rooftops. He tried thinking of how to tell you, should he buy you a bunch of flowers? Get his guitar out? He wanted the moment to be perfect.
“Okay, what is it?” You say grabbing his attention once more.
“What is what?” He asks playing innocent.
“You weren’t paying attention” you point out turning to face him.
“Yes I was I promise!” Colin defends holding his hands up.
“No, you weren’t because I just said I had a threesome with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman and you didn’t bat an eyelid,” you tell him with a knowing look.
“Okay I’m sorry, I just got distracted for a moment” Colin apologises with a sigh.
“It's okay, what were you thinking about, you had an odd serious look on your face” you ask laying your hand on top of his.
Colin sighed looking down at your hand and turning his over to intertwine his fingers with yours. He then looked back at you watching as your eyes searched his. He remembered the first night you’d met, how you both spent hours talking and laughing with each other. A memory that wasn't too dissimilar to how tonight was playing out. He smiled when he realised there wasn’t a moment more perfect than this one right here.
“I love you” he smiled squeezing your hand gently.
“What?” You whisper in disbelief.
“You’re my best friend and I love you” Colin repeats.
You remain silent for a moment you’re face still one of shock. Colin starts to panic that you don’t feel the same way, was it far too early? Was he about to scare you away? Just as those fears were starting to get the better of him you smiled shifting closer to him and kissing him gently.
“I love you too” you smile resting your forehead against his.

Seeing Blind Ch. 5
Colin Shea x pregnant!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: After a one-night stand, you find yourself pregnant. While navigating your pregnancy, the father of your baby seems to have another task at hand.
Warnings: angst, swearing, jealousy, eventual smut, slowish burn, in-depth descriptions/discussions of pregnancy, descriptions of mafia dynamics, Colin is a little shit
A/N: It’s been a minute since I've written; been going through a lot of mental health issues. I'm still working through them. I hope the next few installments of fics I post can make up for the delays. Thanks @eightcevanscentral.

The park is crowded, teeming with people having picnics, walking their dogs, and letting their children run loose along the grass and walkways.
Everyone here seems to be more intimately involved. They hold hands or have their arms slung around their partners in one way or another. If they’re not attached physically, they walk in close proximity to each other.
It makes Colin and Aly stick out. They look like an awkward pair, staying about half an arm’s length from one another as they search for the picnic area where Aly’s next ex is meant to be entertaining a seven-year-old’s party.
“There it is,” Colin points out.
It’s the classic picnic-in-the-park birthday party with bright foil balloons, food everywhere, and kids running amuck with water guns and silly string. Parents are day drinking out in the open, not paying attention to whatever havoc their little monsters were creating.
Colin gulps when he realizes this is in his future. Over-the-top birthday parties for kids who probably won’t remember a single second of it, stupid presents, and mingling with actual adults who know what they’re doing.
He’s way out of his depth. He should’ve known he was punching out of his weight taking you back to his apartment; you were the only woman smart enough to leave before he woke up. His usual targets are the girls who have only a fraction more desperation than he has. It’s why they stay in the morning hoping for something more and what’s led him to running around Boston tracking down his neighbor’s exes.
“Well, there he is,” Aly’s voice comes, jarring him from his thoughts.
He spots a little wooden theater where two homemade farm animal puppets appear to be arguing. The kids burst into laughter while Colin and Aly exchange a look.
As the show comes to a close, it doesn’t get any stranger, but it gives Aly an opportunity to say hello while the kids get cake and watch the birthday celebrant open presents.
To avoid looking like a strange man lingering around a child’s birthday party, Colin makes his way to a tree and sits among the roots. He contemplates his impending fatherhood while people watching from his vantage point.
It’s not just stupidly expensive birthday parties coming. He watches a dad catch his kid mid-fall–it’s that too. He sees another lugging a diaper bag in one hand while his baby flails in his grip, but his hold never falters.
Colin looks at his hands. Can I do that?
At the birthday party, a man mediates a situation between two boys. One boy says something, he looks at the other one. On and on, until the man speaks once more and the boys hug before playing together again.
Will anyone teach him how to do this?
He thinks about his own father; Chief of Police in Salem, a well-respected man who produced two sons who have made a name for themselves in their own rights.
And a third who had no part of his life together, trying to usher a baby into the world with a woman he had a one night stand with.
“Well, that was a disaster,” Aly’s voice jars him from his thoughts, the ideas rattling in his brain before dissipating like smoke.
“Huh?”
“Didn’t get much out of that encounter other than the fact that I remember why we broke up.”
“And…?”
“His puppets creeped me out. Anyway,” Aly pauses as she opens her purse and digs through it. “Here is…twenty, forty, sixty, seventy.”
She hands him the cash and it crumples in his hands.
“You wanna grab a taxi back to the building? I need some wine.”
Colin shakes his head. “No, I’m just gonna head a few blocks that way before I head back.”
“What’s over at ‘a few blocks that way’?”
“Just gotta pick up some stuff,” he says as he shoves the bills in his pocket. “I’ll see ya around.”
She nods and walks on her way to the western entrance of the park.
Putting his hands in his pockets, Colin stands up and begins to walk down the path when a male voice catches his attention.
“Hey, Free Licks.”
Looking up, he finds Mateo, donned in all black with shades perched on his nose. Colin can’t help but note the difference between the two of them again; he was wearing stained jeans and a faded t-shirt.
Colin greets him with a nod. “Detective.”
“What brings you to the park today?”
“Oh, you know, the sunshine, the fresh air.” Colin inhales through his nose obnoxiously.
Mateo raises an eyebrow. “I see. Well, I was here on business from Y/N, but…when I see suspicious activity, I have to follow up on it, you know?”
Colin shakes his head, a little incredulous. “What? She’s got you spying on me?”
“Not you, but a point person. BPD business. There was a drop that was meant to happen. You know anything about that?”
Pursing his lips and raising his brows, Colin gestures “no” again. “Nothing that I’ve seen.”
Mateo reaches into his pocket and hands him his card. “Well, if you see anything, you’ll let me know, right?”
Taking it between his thumb and forefinger, the card nearly falls in his weak grip. Colin doesn’t know what to do with it or why Mateo is giving it to him. “Sure…?”
“Good. See you around, Free Licks.”
- - - - -
“I wasn’t expecting you to actually show up,” you scoff with a smile. “But, while you’re here, you can push the cart.”
You let go and the cart still moves, wheels squeaking as it glides down the aisle and Colin scrambles to get a grip on the handle. When he eventually gets it, he cranes his neck to find you studying the different boxes lining the shelves.
“What are we looking at?”
“Changing tables.”
“Like the ones in ladies’ bathrooms?”
“Not quite, but same idea. Just a space where you can store everything for changing a diaper and keep the baby safe while you’re grabbing stuff.”
“You make it sound like it’s a whole process,” Colin snorts.
You look at him. “You’ve never changed a diaper before in your life, have you?”
He scoffs, lying through his teeth. “Psh, what are you talking about? Of course, I have.”
“It’s okay if you haven’t, you know that right?”
How are you able to see right through him?
It seems his face shows his bewilderment, and you respond to it, “Colin, like I said, I didn’t expect you to do any of this. I still don’t expect a lot from you–not that I don’t welcome this, but because I can do this on my own if I need to.”
He doesn’t reply. Looking at his face, his cheeks look particularly round like a child’s, casting a sort of innocence on him that doesn’t reflect the person you know him as. He’s goofy and charming, things that attracted you to him in the first place that fateful night when all of this started. Along with that, he’s experienced, but you can see there’s a thought rattling in his mind that his mouth won’t say.
“Look, whatever your decisions are for doing this—if you’re trying to prove yourself to someone or if you’re putting expectations on yourself–you can’t let that bother you. I don’t know the extent of what I’m getting myself into. This kid could be like me, or they could be like you. But however they turn out, I’m gonna do my best to make sure they live happily. And that’s all you can do: your best.”
He nods, but you don’t think it’s really getting to him.
“Maybe I can sign us up for a parent coaching class. I’m sure we’d hardly be the first unusual pair of parents a teacher has seen.”
His cheeks turn red first, then his ears. He smiles and nods again. “Yeah…yeah, I think that’s a great idea.”
“It’s a deal.”
You grab his hand and hook your pinky with his.
“Now, while we’re here, can you do me a favor and put that box in the cart?” you ask, pointing to the one you want.
“Yes, ma’am.”
As he does what you request, you bite your lip and blink slowly.
You can feel your non-expectations–the ones you still hold on Colin where he’s welcome to do as he pleases–slowly metamorphosize. There’s a flash of him bathed in the morning sunlight, smiling up at a giggling baby he’s lifting over his head.
“Anything else from this aisle?”
The image is gone in a puff of smoke, trailing in the air before disappearing completely.
You shake your head. “No, but I need to go to the next aisle and look at rocking chairs.”
- - -
Hauling everything to the cashier for check out, your items are ringed up and bagged while you reach for your wallet.
“Oh, here…I have this.”
Colin shoves his hand in his pocket, pulling out some crumpled up bills and awkwardly setting them on the counter. Just by looking at it and the grand total of the items on the counter, you know it’s not enough.
“Colin…it’s okay,” you say, pulling out your card and handing it to the cashier.
As he gathers up the money, you ask where he got it.
“I did a favor for a friend.”
“And they paid you that much money for a favor?”
Grabbing the last bill, he puts it back into his pocket. “Well, she owes me.”
You don’t have time to wonder too much about why he’s being so vague, not with the cashier asking for your signature for the payment and asking if you want to join the store’s rewards program.
With all the items bagged, you and Colin hail a taxi to go back to your apartment. Every once in a while, you consider pressing further, your suspicion a by-product of the analytical mind that got you the position you work in.
Deciding against it, you send Colin on his way and prepare for work tomorrow.
- - - - -
You yawn as you exit your apartment, pivoting back to lock the door behind you.
A flash of blue stuck on your door as it closes behind you catches your eye. When you look at it, you realize it’s a note, probably from one of your neighbors.
The words become clearer as you reach for the note, peeling it off the surface and reading it.
If you know what’s good for you, you’ll stop.
You huff. Rolling your eyes, you stuff it into your canvas bag–your newly-designated lunch bag ever since your appetite grew so that you could “eat for two.”
And prevent yourself from rage-quitting your job out of hunger-fueled anger.
Figuring it’s just the young kid on the second floor playing a prank, you head out to work.
- - -
“Bebitaaaa,” Mateo sings as he enters your cave of computer monitors.
He places a hand on your shoulder to straighten your spine.
“You need to work on your posture,” he remarks.
You scoff. “And you need to pack your own snacks and stop taking from a pregnant lady,” you speak, but are certain he couldn’t hear you over the sound of wrappers crinkling.
“Speaking of you being pregnant, I ran into Colin at the park yesterday..." he trails off. "What’s this?”
“Hmm?”
Your chair swivels as you look at him, finding the note from your door in his hand. “Bebita…where’d you find this?”
“Oh,” you exhale dismissively, “that’s nothing. I found it on my door this morning.”
“And you didn’t think to tell me?”
“Tell you about what? It’s a note. Probably from the little boy upstairs.”
Mateo’s eyes narrow. “How old is that kid?”
“I dunno,” you shrug. “Fourteen?”
“I don’t think fourteen-year-olds play tricks like this.”
“Just because you didn’t because you were a damn genius who went to college at sixteen doesn’t mean other fourteen-year-olds don’t.”
“Bebita, I don’t think you understand this. ‘If you know what’s good for you’? That’s a threat.”
“Mateo, come on, after that it says ‘you’ll stop.’ Stop what? If this is a threat, it’s a pretty empty one.”
“We’re in a dangerous line of work, did you even consider that maybe this is a guy from the mob? Or maybe one of them put the kid up to writing the note to try and hide their scent?”
You roll your eyes, “Knock it off, Mateo. There’s no way they know who I am, much less where I live–”
“You don’t know that, you don’t know what they’re capable of–”
“I know what I’m capable of, and I’m pretty sure my work is completely untraceable.”
He’s quiet for a moment, then grabs your phone from the desk. Unlocking it, he swipes through and taps before showing you the screen. It’s Colin’s contact information. His thumb hovers over the call button.
“Don’t make me do this.”
“Oh my god,” you roll your eyes again, your head lolling back in annoyance as your arms cross. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”
He taps the button and he brings the phone to his ear as the call begins.
You hear Colin on the other line. “Hello?”
“Hey, Free Licks.”
“Oh, it’s you.”
You snort and Mateo’s eyes drift up in exasperation. “Yeah, it’s me. I’m calling though because Y/N found a threatening note on her door but doesn’t think it’s a big deal.”
“Wait, what?!”
“Yeah, it said, ‘if you know what’s good for you, you’ll stop.’ I think the mob knows where she lives.”
“You really think they would?” Colin’s concern comes clearly through the speaker.
“I think anything’s possible,” Mateo says pointedly, throwing you a look. “But like I said, she’s pretty confident in her ability to be untraceable.”
“But if the note was on her door…”
Mateo nods slowly, smugly. “You get it.”
“Is she there?”
“Right in front of me.”
“Can I talk to her?”
You take the phone, sticking your tongue out before you speak, “Hey Colin.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about the note when we were texting earlier?”
“Same thing I told Mateo,” you sigh, getting really irritated that you keep having to repeat yourself. “It’s not a big deal, it’s probably nothing.”
“But it was on your door.”
“I’m sure a lot of people find notes on their doors.”
“Not threatening ones!” Colin says into the receiver as Mateo nearly shouts the same thing in front of you.
“God, how do I turn off the surround sound in here?”
“Bebita, you might take this lightly, but I’m not.”
“Yeah…yeah, and neither am I!” Colin tacks on.
“A woman’s life is most endangered when she’s pregnant because that’s the time she’s most likely to get killed.”
You’re shocked Mateo would bring that up to you now, placing a hand on your lower stomach.
“I’m not taking any chances with you, especially with Riona Maher’s arrest at Logan happening earlier this week.”
You swallow, pushing your pride down as you look away from Mateo. You feel like a teenager getting lectured by her father.
“Promise me if you see anything else like this, you’ll tell me right away.”
You don’t reply immediately.
“Promise him,” Colin pleads from the phone.
“Fine, I promise. But only because I’m still pretty sure this is nothing.”
“I’ll take it,” Mateo sighs. “And Colin’s a witness.”
“Thanks for including me.”
Mateo says, “You’re welcome,” as you say goodbye and end the call.
“I’m gonna take this down to forensics and see if they can pull up anything.”
“You’d be wasting time,” you taunt as you turn back to your computer.
“And I’m driving you home tonight and picking you up in the morning.”
“Mateo–”
“Nothing you can do about it, my mind’s made up.”
He shuts the door behind him, leaving you typing away as you shake your head.
I’m the pregnant one, your mind gripes, I should be the one who overreacts to things, not them.
