alskdggdhfbfn listen. listen murdoc is SO finwean. none of this was intentional, mind you – our campaign has been going since 2020, at which point i was a very causal lotr/hobbit fan (by way of having gone through The Hyperfix in middle school and having not touched it much since then), and had NOT gotten into the silm. murdoc was initially meant to be heavily inspired by bilbo, and like. He Is, but he’s also my most extremely deeply self-indulgent oc, and i have some Character Traits I Tend To Be Compelled By.

anyhow @potatoobsessed999 and @jaz-the-bard got me into the silm largely by way of maedhros SHOWING UP IN OUR GAME, which made me go oh. Oh Shit. This Is My Kind Of Little Guy. I Now Need To Consume Everything About Him. so they’re incredibly, incredibly similar people, and i mean. gestures at the house of finwe. they’re MY kind of disasters and murdoc fits right in <3 but it was entirely by accident on my part. it’s been extremely fun for exploring that character dynamic, though - from murdoc’s end this is someone who he sees a lot of himsef in, including the parts of himself that scare him, and who he loves and trusts even for those parts. it’s been good for him, i think.

to ANSWER THIS, i cannot stress enough that jaz started calling us the union of murdoc as a union of maedhros joke. i did not come up with this. the whole table picked it up and ran with it before i did. it’s cursed on purpose. i think both murdoc and maedhros hate it in character but this isn’t stopping any of us from calling it that, including me <3 as for it turning out better, well. bold of you to assume our gm isn’t fully willing to cause us distress for fun <3
