“So, just to make sure I understand correctly,” Rex slowly voices his concern as he walks off the Twilight with Skywalker, “Senator Amidala requested extra security for the Senate gathering that Naboo is hosting, and the GAR only sent the two of us”. After working with the general for most of his military career, Rex is wary when it comes to any mission with the jedi. His concern only grows when he knows the general is hiding something from him. Rex scans the royal hanger with his eyes, and his suspicions heighten when he realizes their ship is the only one not from this planet.
“No,” Anakin drags out. “But we are here by special request. That part isn’t a lie”.
Rex rolls his eyes and sighs, “Then why are we here, sir?”
The two men reach the main entrance where the guard lets them into the palace with no questions asked. Rex’s eyebrow raises at the lack of protocol. His heart quickens as they walk through the bright palace halls. Normally, Rex can push aside the insecurity that comes with feeling like an outsider, but the grandeur of the royal halls and the luxurious outfits that its inhabitants wear cause him to sink into himself slightly. Finding comfort in the plastoid armor that his brothers wear alongside him even systems away.
Anakin looks at the captain out of the corner of his eyes for a moment, taking note of his stiff posture. He focuses on his gaze in front of them, but he then bears off to a side corridor. He leads Rex to a hidden staircase and explains, “The 501st has been granted an extended leave after our last success”.
Rex’s eyebrows furrow, “Then why are we on Naboo?” He’s careful to keep his voice calm so as to not betray the growing hope that’s overcoming him. The last rays of early evening bleed into a vibrant sunset over the lake from the open archways that line the outer wall.
“I may, or may not, have lied about the Senator requesting you to be here,” Skywalker sheepishly admits. “That doesn’t mean someone else didn’t request your presence, though”.
Reaching the top of the stairwell, Skywalker steps to the side and opens the door for Rex. His signature smirk appears on his face, and Rex thinks this is finally the moment he’ll strangle the general for everything he's been put through. Fully ready to voice his intent, Rex’s body freezes at the sight of you sitting at a table for two on the palace’s terrace.
Dressed in a summer evening outfit, you look at your partner in amusement as he can’t take his eyes off you. His expression of disbelief makes you lightly chuckle. Warmth blankets around you as the sun kisses your skin causing butterflies to tickle your stomach.
“I’ll leave you two to it. We’ll have a few weeks here, Rex, so try to actually relax on your time off,” Skywalker quietly dismisses himself. Before he completely moves away, he nods at you in gratitude.
You smile lightly at the general, and you focus your gaze on Rex. “Care to join me? It’d be a shame to let this go to waste,” you say and motion to the table full of fruit, cheese, and bread. A jug of water sits on the side of the table with a bottle of wine in a chiller stand.
Rex can’t breathe as he takes in this moment. Memorizing it to hold close for the rest of his life, his heart swells to the point where he swears he's going to break. “How,” Rex tries to find his voice as he walks towards you, “How did you plan this?”
You reach your hands out to him and grasp his gloved hands. Rubbing your thumbs over his knuckles, you explain, “I had some help. Padmé learned about it through her husband, and she sent me a message. Offered to let us have a vacation away from prying eyes”. You look up at him from your seat and flutter your eyelashes. The soft smile on your face growing as Rex looks down at you in adoration. A flush warms your cheeks when he takes one hand to tilt your chin up towards him. His gentle touch ignites sparks across your skin.
“Have I told you how much I love you?” Rex quietly mumbles before placing a kiss to your lips. His hand then cups your jaw to help guide you into a better position to deepen the kiss. His lips move against yours and pride warms his chest when you meet him with equal tenderness. Everything feels as if it comes to a standstill as the two of you reunite and fall into your partner’s embrace.
You rest your free hand on his hip and run your thumb over the new scratches on the worn plastoid. Silently thanking the stars for safely returning Rex to you one more time. Rex pulls away from your lips, and before you can protest, he places a quick peck to your pout. Your heart races from the small act, and you meet his affectionate gaze with a similar look on your face. “I think you’ve voiced the idea one or two times,” you muse, “You did, did however, say we would need all the time in the galaxy to truly express how much you adore me”.
You lightly laugh and let him step away to find his seat across from you, and his laughter soon joins yours. You pour water into both your glasses while you softly inquire. “How would you like to go about your vacation?” When Rex raises an eyebrow as he slips off his gloves, your cheeks flame as your mind begins to wander from the terrace oasis to the luxurious bedroom the two of you will find comfort in soon enough. “We have a gift sitting in front of us. If you want, we could completely ignore the war for a short time. Get lost in our imaginations of what it would be like to spend our lives peacefully hidden away from the galaxy,” you elaborate.
Rex looks at you with a thoughtful expression. His eyes flickering from your ethereal appearance to the beautiful scenery that leads his mind to all the possible afternoon rendez-vous the two of you could find yourselves in before noticing the small quirk of your lips. His chest aches at the care you’ve put into this experience for him, and he leans forward to grasp one of your hands across the table. “That’s a very dangerous idea, cyar’ika,” Rex muses.
“Don’t you flirt with death everyday, love?” you tease and squeeze his hand. “How could a blossoming field of flowers beside a tranquil lake pose more of a threat than a battlefield?”
Rex chuckles and looks up at you from his eyelashes. His amber eyes hold a roguish glint that only grows in intensity at the small shiver that falls over your body. When he responds, he voice drops into a gravelly, hushed tone, “I meant dangerous for you, cy’are. Three weeks tucked away from any distractions where I can finally take my time to love and adore you. Worship you every morning, afternoon, and evening for everyday we live in paradise. You’re offering me too much when it should be me who offers you everything”.
Your breath hitches and the blush rising to your cheeks rivals the sunset’s rich red and orange hues that paint the sky. Heart pounding against its cage, your voice comes out airy: “Whatever you desire, I shall give to you during our time together. As long as you promise that you’ll return to me each time we must part ways”.
Rex feels like he can’t breathe. A wash of guilty pleasure consumes him as you bite down on a strawberry. The glistening juice trails across your lip before your tongue swipes across to collect it. Your lighthearted laugh seemingly brings a brighter glow that Rex didn’t think was possible to the golden beams of sunlight that stream through the hanging flowers. His other hand subtly moves to his utility belt as you turn your head to watch the sun set against the great lake. Rex is thankful that you let him get lost in his thoughts this time, because he wants to do right by you for this change in your relationship.
“I will do everything in my power to come home to you, so we can continue to create memories like these together,” Rex promises. His voice softens into a reverent awe, and as he speaks he unclasps one of his pouches.
“I know,” you softly acknowledge, “I will always count down the days until we reunite, but during those days I will always worry for your well being and safety”. Rex’s hand squeezes yours, and your expression drops. Not daring to look at your lover, you keep your attention to the families and friends who gather by the lake’s shore to begin their summer celebration. Your chest constricts as hugs are shared and shouts of excitement crescendo against the evening’s warm breeze.
Rex ducks his head and sighs. His fingers hesitate when they graze the small box he’s kept safe by his side during his last few deployments. When he steals a glance at you, Rex’s heart all but breaks at the adoration he holds for you. Sitting before him, Rex looks upon his lover who holds him with such care and tender love. Who understands him better than he does. Who goes through every obstacle to stand by his side and support him in a galaxy that causes a fear to fester in the back of his mind. A lover who walks him off the edge when his emotions get the best of him. There’s no one more deserving of his lifetime devotion after everything his cy’are has done for him. Certainly, no one who he could imagine living the rest of his life with.
With a reignited spark of resolve, Rex scoops the small box into his hand and clasps the pouch. “I can’t promise that a worst case scenario will never happen,” Rex quietly begins. When you turn to face him with a worried expression that nearly makes him choke, he takes a deep breath. “However, if there is a way for me to find my way back to you, I will always search for it. There is nothing in this galaxy that could keep me from returning to you. The only exception being death itself”.
Your breathing begins to grow heavy as you listen to Rex’s declaration. A night you hoped would be full of laughter and relaxation now renders you speechless while feeling the weight of his words sink into you. Your heart races as you watch Rex rise to his feet and return to your side once more. “Rex,” you softly question. Only for a quiet gasp to slip past your lips when he drops to one knee now holding your hand with such tenderness as he trails his thumbs across your knuckles.
Rex’s heart pounds against his chest as blood rushes to his ears. An overwhelming mixture of emotions makes him feel dizzy, but he will not let this opportunity pass. “I have never met a person who willingly gives a piece of their heart to whoever may need it. Someone who cares so deeply for their loved ones or people they have only just met, because you believe that everyone deserves to feel cared about. Regardless of if you’ve spent weeks with them or just a few minutes. You offer your heart to anyone and trust them to take care of it just as you would theirs, because you hold hope that the galaxy will rebuild itself into a place where everyone feels at home once more”.
“You’re going to make me cry,” you let out a watery laugh and wipe away the threatening tears, “You better not be doing what I think you’re trying to do. This vacation is supposed to be about you”.
Rex lets out a short laugh of disbelief as he shakes his head. He looks up at you with a beaming smile, “But that’s just it, cy’are. Without you, I am a shell of a man. You have brought so much light and love into my life that I never dared to dream possible. My heart only beats for you, and I want to spend the remaining days of my life by your side”. Rex slides his thumb under the ring box’s lid as his thunderous heartbeat echoes in his ears. “If you will allow me the honor, I would like to care for you with just as much devotion as you have shown me in the time we have already shared together”.
Your eyes soften as Rex opens the ring box to reveal a simple silver band with a small sapphire in the middle. The last rays of light catch on the gemstone to cause it to sparkle in the early evening. “You would be a fool to ever think I wouldn’t say yes,” you weakly laugh and run your thumb under your eyes.
“Then say it,” Rex pleads. His amber eyes shimmer with excitement in the golden sunlight as he waits to hear the words he’s only dreamed of hearing you say.  “Please”.
“Yes,” you softly assure him, “I would love to spend the rest of my life by your side”. There was never a doubt in your mind that this would be the man you married when you first met, but as Rex slips the band onto your ring finger, you have never known a love so strong. When you try to convey your feelings, the words can’t come. Only a small whimper falls from your lips and a short laugh. So instead you cup Rex’s face, and you share a passionate kiss. Your eyes flutter closed as you commit this moment to memory.
A chuckle of acknowledgement falls from Rex before he nips at your bottom lip and deepens the kiss. Tilting his head, Rex holds your wrists and thumbs your racing pulse points. Your hum causes his skin to tingle. Finally, Rex feels as if he’s found his place in the galaxy. When your kiss breaks, the two of you still lean into each other's embrace and rest your foreheads together. For a few minutes, the pair of you don’t move away. Only shifting slightly to ghost your lips over over the other in featherlight kisses. Nudging your chin with his nose to make you open your eyes, Rex gently places a lingering kiss to the corner of your mouth before pulling away to stand up.
Instead of sitting across from you like you thought he was doing, your eyebrows raise when he takes his chair and moves it next to yours. “Couldn’t even go a minute without being apart,” you find your voice to tease.
Rex shoots you a look of amusement while reaching over to pick up the bottle of wine from the chiller. “Because you’re any better,” Rex counters and nods to your hand resting on his belt. Now adorn by a silver band that only makes his smile grow at the sight. Twisting the cork free, Rex pours both of you glasses of bubbly and places the bottle back in the chiller. As he sits by your side, he offers you a glass and rests a hand on your thigh. He tilts his glass towards you with his usual charming expression. “May we share as many days together as riduurs as there are stars in the galaxy,” he proposes.
Lightly clinking your glass to his, you beam at Rex. “And may we always find our ways home to one another after any time apart”.

here with me
pairing: male x gn!reader (i tagged with a lot of different male characters i find comforting, but there’s no names used so you can imagine anyone you so please)
word count: 0.6k
warnings: reader is in pain (nothing descriptive), he comforts. just fluff
a/n: i wrote this as a result of my own migraines, but i kept all the symptoms vague because any chronic pain is a bitch, and you deserve to be treated softly by the person of your choice

The apartment usually wasn’t this quiet when he got home.
Or this dark.
He set his keys on the counter and left his boots by the door, then carefully stepped through the apartment. The kitchen and living room were both empty, and the office looked like it hadn’t been touched all day.
There was no light under the bedroom door. He set a cautious hand on the doorknob, but a quiet whimper had him opening the door without question.
You were laid out on the bed, on top of the covers, with an arm draped over your eyes. The ceiling fan and rotary fan on the ground were both spinning at top speed, and he could just see a dark bag poking out under your neck.
He quietly closed the door and returned to the kitchen, now a man on a mission. He grabbed a straw and a water bottle from the fridge, then took an ice pack from the freezer and wrapped it with a dish towel. He took the last item, a bottle of painkillers, from the cabinet and silently returned to the bedroom, the only sound of his presence being the faint click as the door closed one more time.
“Baby?”
“Yeah, it’s me.”
You let out another small whimper.
“How bad is it?”
“9.5.”
Unbearable, then, if you were using an actual pain scale.
He set his items on the nightstand and took a seat beside you on the bed.
“Meds?”
“At 3.”
Only a couple hours ago, too soon to take more. He put those beside the lamp.
He uncapped the water bottle and put the straw in, then he gently tucked a hand behind your head and lifted. “Drink.”
Your lips wrapped around the straw, and he didn’t pull the bottle away until you’d swallowed at least four times. But before you could lay back down, he replaced your old ice pack with a new one. You shivered a little, but the cold was a welcome reprieve.
“Stay or go?”
You could’ve cried. He’d stuck with you through this so many times he knew your comforts by heart. He read your moods instantly, and most of the time didn’t need promptings, but he always took the time to ask when it got bad like this. And he never shamed you for only being able to say a few words at a time.
“Stay.”
It nearly came out as a sob.
He shed his jacket and started unbuttoning his jeans. “Shirt or no shirt?”
“Soft.”
He took off his current shirt and replaced it with his sleep one, nothing decorating the black fabric, just ultra-soft cotton.
“Where do you want me?”
It differed every time. Sometimes you didn’t want him at all, the thought of another person with you sending jolts of pain through your body. Other times you wanted him to stay, but on the other side of the bed. Or you wanted him close, but barely touching.
“Top.”
Or sometimes you needed him to put all of his body weight on top of you like a human weighted blanket.
“Covers?”
“No.”
He positioned himself, knees on either sides of your thighs, then he slowly lowered himself until his hands on either side of your face were the only thing keeping him up.
“Okay?”
“Okay.”
He finished lowering himself and settled his full weight against you.
You sighed in relief.
“Better?”
You nodded and tucked yourself into the crook of his neck. “Better.”
“Three taps if I’m suffocating you.”
For the first time that day, you took a deep breath and relaxed.

hi! i love your rex stuff
is there anyway you can write a rex x male!reader with the trope of “there’s only one bed”? you can take that however you like!
thank you for all the hard work and great fics!
Aloha!
Yes of course! Anyway I like? Would you be happy with something fluffy/suggestive?
By the way, you can pretty much request anything with an x male! reader, just the way others do it with fem! or gn! reader. I might not be experienced in that field yet, but I'm not too shy to try.
Have mercy, I think this is my first suggestive try with a male reader 😅
Rex x Male!Reader One-shot - Close To You
Tumblr media
Strongly Suggestive/ Fluff/ 18+ (?)

"You've got to be kidding," Rex grumbles softly.
Rex and you look at the only bed in the hut, where you found emergency shelter from a thunderstorm on your scouting mission. You have both had a very long and tiring day. There is no sofa and no armchairs, only a dining table and two chairs and the bed.
At first, you silently survey the circumstances. It was not planned that you are on the road for such a long time, but your speeder has broken down, and then the thunderstorm has come up. A lightning strike, followed by a bloodcurdling thunderclap, snaps you out of your thoughts.
But before you can say anything, Rex says, "I'm going to lie down on the floor, you can have the bed."
You frown, you know Rex is just as tired and worn out as you are, you don't want him to lie down on the hard floor.
"Rex, the bed is big enough for two" you say quietly.
The captain pauses in his movement, finally turning slowly back around to face you.
"And you think that would be appropriate?" he asks, more curious than judgmental.
You shrug, a small smile on your face.
"We're both adults, we're tired, and there's a bed big enough for both of us. Where would there be a problem?"
Rex looks back and forth between you and the bed for a moment, scratches the back of his head, and finally shrugs as well.
"Um, okay, if you're really okay with that."
You nod and ask, "Are you okay with that?"
You could swear you see a hint of blush in his cheeks, but you're not sure. Rex nods and says, "Sure."
Of course, you don't mention with a word that your heart is beating up to your throat with excitement, that just the thought of getting so close to him makes you all tingly and prickles under your skin. You trust him, unconditionally, he has never disappointed you and always had your back, with no one you could imagine this scenario more likely.
As you put your things down and settle into the bed next to each other, you both lie on your backs at first, staring at the ceiling. You can feel how uptight Rex is, his hands folded on his chest, his shoulders tense.
You smirk and quietly ask, "Are you always this tense when you lie down in bed, or does it have something to do with me?"
Rex clears his throat and says a little uncertainly, "I just don't want to get in your way and accidentally cross any lines."
You turn your head to look at him, while Rex is still staring at the ceiling, you glance at his attractive profile.
"Rex, I'm not made of sugar, there's nothing wrong with you touching me".
He doesn't turn his head, but he glances at you out of the corner of his eye and sees you smile. Again, you could swear that there is a certain blush in his cheeks. He takes a deep breath, as if he needs to brace himself.
"I know, I just don't want to intrude on you…you know, inappropriately".
A soft laugh comes bursting out of your throat.
"You're always so serious" you say amused, "In fact, I have no problem at all with you getting close to me, on the contrary"
You see his eyes widen, and he blinks in surprise.
"Really?" he wants to know.
"Really."
After a pause, he says softly, "I didn't think you would want me of all people near you".
You say just as softly, "Why not? You are absolutely gorgeous. Handsome, decent, brave, strong, you are a dream on two legs"
Rex flashes you a wry smirk and finally turns his head in your direction to look directly at you.
"That's a lot of praise coming out of your mouth".
You roll your eyes playfully and say teasingly, "Well, you're a little uptight too, but everything else fits"
Rex raises his brows, then the look in his amber eyes becomes piercing. You're a little startled as one of his strong hands grips your chin. Your hand automatically reaches for his arm, and you feel the muscles through the tight fabric of his Blacks.
"I'm not uptight," Rex says calmly in his deep voice, "I just didn't know where to put you. I didn't even know you were interested in men until just now."
Blinking, you try to meet his intense gaze and say, "Well, you don't exactly parade it around in the military, I had to be careful, not everyone is as open about it as you are."
He smirks.
"Good point."
After a pause, his face gets closer and closer until your lips are almost touching.
Rex whispers, "Am I still not too close to you?"
"I like it when you're close to me, I don't think there's a line you could cross, others could, but not you, you can't be close enough to me," you whisper back.
Rex swallows, but he smiles, then you feel his warm lips on yours, softer than expected, more demanding than expected. A shiver goes through your body as one of his legs slides between yours. His free arm wraps around your body, his hip pressing against yours.
As you feel his hard length press against your lower abdomen, your blood gets pumping too. Even down there, he feels so incredibly strong. Maybe you are a little nervous after all, but the good kind of nervous that tingles in your belly and in your fingertips that makes you shiver comfortably and drives heat to your loins.
One of his hands travels down between you, wandering under the fabric of your clothes as your heart beats up to your throat. Your cock twitches up in his hand as he gently but firmly grips it.
Rex pulls away from the kiss, his lips still touching yours as he whispers questioningly, "Still not too close?"
For a moment you miss your voice, everything inside you tingles, pulses, demands him. Finally, you reply barely audible, "Like I said, you can't be close enough to me"
Rex leans his head back a little to look at you, smirking.
"Let's test that theory"

Sup! I was wondering if I could request a Star Wars matchup :]
Alrighty so, I’m a 5’5 Biromantic (masc leaning) asexual guy. I have medium long black and purple hair with raccoon tails. I’m really into punk and metal culture, and I love picking up scrap and making it into clothes and accessories. I’m also autistic and I have adhd, so I differ a lot between how social and talkative I am. I play guitar, play board games, sew and draw in my spare time
Have a good day 🫶
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: Sorry this took so long Anon, I just couldn't decide how I wanted to do the banner for this one! I hope that this is to your tastes!
Tumblr media
I am thoroughly convinced that you both would get along disturbingly well.
Your style and your unique hobbies are certainly what drew him to you. It isn't often that you encounter someone with long black and purple hair- let alone with that and raccoon tails. And turning scrap into accessories? Well, that was just icing on the cake.
Don't get me wrong- Anakin has been around the likes of Padme during her queen and senator days, so he's no stranger to unique and unorthodox hairdos, but the color and length certainly intrigued him, forgoing the style.
Given how frequently he's out in the field? Unless you went out on missions with him regularly, your initial interactions with him would have been once every blue moon or so. Of course, this meant that there were some occasions where he attempted to hang with you on your less social days- something I don't imagine going too well.
The differences in how social you were may have bewildered him at first, but it's more than likely if you didn't tell him about your social battery? Kenobi, Ahsoka, or Rex would have caught on to some degree and let him know that it probably wasn't because he'd done something wrong.
Even though it's known to be against regulations to nab keepsakes from the battlefield (or at the very least it is for clones), I get the feeling he's made a habit of grabbing you scrap metal from the battlefield on missions where he's had time.
More often than not this metal consists of severed droid parts that almost certainly have lightsaber cuts and blaster residue all over them, but hey- it's the thought that counts right?
He'd keep his eye out the following days, weeks, etc. after giving you one of his unique "gifts" to see if he could spot something you may have crafted it into.
He and the 501st make a game of guessing what you might turn his scrap into, and they absolutely keep score of who's gotten it right the most times.
As you got closer and your relationship developed further he 100% would step up his game in the scrap department. And by that I mean he somehow finds stranger and stranger shit to bring back for you.
A motivator, the head of a B1, droid fingers, paneling from destroyed droid carriers- hell, even random pieces of downed starships. His goal is to make sure you never know what he's gonna bring back next, if only so he can see the delighted (or perplexed) look you'll end up giving him as a result.
Of course, if you needed something specific and let him know about it, he'd see to it that he gets it if possible.
It's also a game between his padawan, himself, and the clones to see who can get the desired part first. Because what's a good battle without some friendly competition amirite?
On quiet days while you don't feel like talking so much, he'll hang out with you and listen to your favorite music with you. Furthermore, if you want to show him any drawings or clothes you've made, or even play him a song on your guitar he's absolutely game. Most of the time neither of you will even have to talk, just bask in each other's presence.
On days where you feel more like listening than talking, he'll tell elaborate tales of his self-proclaimed "best moments" on the battlefield and catch you up on what he's been doing while you've been separated. He's also got a stash of amusing tales at Obi-wan, Ahsoka, and the 501st's expense to cheer you up whenever you're feeling down.
Somehow he always finds a way to boost his own ego in the process, but something tells me that you're more than enough to keep Anakin balanced in that regard.
If you make him something you bet he's bragging to his padawan and his men that his significant other made a gift specifically for him and no one else.
Anakin is 100% guilty of messing up your hair or lifting things just out of reach to tease you as you are shorter than him, but he's made up for it in some regards by fetching things for you as well. Namely stuff way too high for you to get without putting yourself in a precarious position.
Talk to him about anything you're interested in and he's over the moon- even if he doesn't quite understand it. You trust him enough to share it with him and that makes it all the more precious.
Anything too out of pocket and you might catch him and Kenobi having a hushed conversation just out of earshot where he's checking with his master to see if he at least knows what you're talking about.
If you call him out on this he'll deny it, and if you catch him in the act he'll try to play it off... and fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Obi-wan is watching him trip over himself in amusement as he tries to find a half-truth you'll buy to spare him the embarrassment.
He sticks to holovids after that. Can't trust his jedi master as far as he can throw him, apparently.
Ahsoka teases him relentlessly over this.
Anakin doesn't really seem the type to get bent out of shape over anyone being asexual, adhd, or autistic. He's a really chill guy, and to be honest he just takes it all in stride and embraces it as much as physically possible. You're his boyfriend after all, why wouldn't he?
Learns about any and/or all of the above to figure out how to better support you and makes sure your boundaries are laid out and respected.
If you want a funny sight to commit to memory? Have him help you with your hair maintenance. He'd somehow find a way to make dying, bleaching, trimming it, etc. absolutely hilarious. Just him in the bathroom with you on a chair in front of a mirror, desperately trying to figure out what toner is, why certain hair products can and cannot be used shortly after dying, etc. It's fucking brilliant.
He's absolutely tried to con you into dying at least a strand of your hair blue to match him and his squad at least once.
....Okay. More than once. But can you blame him? That'd be bloody adorable.
Just don't dye it orange in response to mess with him, he might cry.
Tumblr media
AN: Ah yes, the image of Anakin fumbling with hair dye will forever be ingrained in my brain. For those who got this far, I hope you enjoyed! May the force be with you, and may your day be as pleasant as the ocean's abyss is deep! For those who are new here, I take requests. You can find my rules here.

It happened after Padme gets called away to an emergency senate session. She was supposed to take place in a talk of hopeful peace so she sent one of her closest friends who was also a great senator.
That's how Rex and Anakin ended up escorting Senator L/n to the meeting. The meeting ended up being a trap and while Anakin dealt with the main opponent, Rex was tasked with keeping M/n safe.
Luckily for Rex, M/n was well trained with a blaster and was able to help defend himself and Rex. The meeting turned into Rex and M/n running through a jungle and hiding in different spots.
During that time Rex and M/n had bonded a great deal. Rex had to admit when they were able to escape and went their separate ways he was a bit disappointed.
And yes, Anakin teased him a lot.

The Light Between Oceans by @rowansparrow is the next installment after What Blooms in Thunder and is bringing us old and new characters. Now like many other ongoing stories, this one has it all and lately we have been receiving some serious ouch time from rowan, but we still love it. This story has given, yet again, some OCs that you just love and if you do not love them? Your a monster ! ( nah kidding (not really) )
This series is one of my favorites, and TLBO has been absolutely INCREDIBLE so far. You're 100% right that Ro is crushing souls, but it's only because their writing is so beautiful and we get so invested in each and every character they write (their OCs in particular). I cannot wait to see where Ro goes with this series and am always anxiously awaiting the next update. Thanks for including it in your recs!
Participate in Fandom Friday to show your favorite creators from this week some love! :)

141 X Male Reader where they are surprised that Male Reader is older than all of them, (even Price) and still moves like he's 20 on the field and they all gush over him...
Sorry! For this taking so long i've been so busy in irl like it's killing me. BUT I hope you enjoy the fic.
141 Boys x older male reader
"Alright boys listen up I got someone y'all gotta meet."
Price says walking into the room where he called everyone to be in. "Everyone. Meet your newest member. C/n."
None of the members say anything just thinking in their own minds about the male. Y/n stands there awkwardly feeling everyone gawk staring at him until someone finally steps up.
"Names Gaz. Nice to meet you C/n." "Nice to meet you too." Gaz takes c/n hand and gives it a firm shake before the rest of the team follows suit.
Ghost sat away from everyone in the shadows staring and listening to the new guy not even making an effort to introduce himself. Usually Ghost wouldn't even care that much. But for C/n something was way different about him.
What really caught Simon's attention was the gruffness of his voice. It made him sound older than many people Simon met in a job like this.
He wasn't the only person to notice either. Soap had a feeling something different about the new member. Soap noticed the grey almost sliver locks in the mans hair.
The greys made him look 10x good well that what Soap thought about anyway.
Kyle was standing next to the man listening to the conversation him and soap was sharing. Gaz looked up and down at C/n checking him out. His eyes stop at the beautiful vintage watch he had on his wrist. The watch looked ancient in Gaz's opinion.
"What type of pawn shop did you get that watch from?" Kyle says catching C/n's attention.
Y/n pulled his hands out of his pockets looking at the watch. "Bought it when it first came out. I think the price was about seventeen dollars and a couple of cents." Y/n answers taking off the watch handing it to Kyle.
"Seventeen dollars!?! Sorry, but I think you got scammed!" Soap adds looking over the watch as well with Kyle.
"It's one hundred percent real. We can even get it tested if you don't believe me." Y/n adds.
"Nowadays a simple watch will cost you an arm and leg." Y/n says taking the watch back and sliding it back on his wrist.
"Things changed C/n from my time and yours time C/n." Captain says towards the older man with a slight laugh.
"Wait...Are y'all the same age?" Soap asks sitting down in his chair.
"Negative. C/n is way older than me. You can even check his file." John hands the group the file watching Ghost move his chair closer to the team.
"Y/n L/n... bla bla bla. Wait a second--- HES IN HIS SIXTY'S!" Soap shouts pointing at the old man. "He's been around since the dinosaurs." Kyle jokes handing back the file. "He's older than everyone here." Ghost adds in quietly.
"Think you can teach me some moves like how you fought the T-Rex" Soap jokes looking at the older man with millions of questions buzzing in his mind.
TIMESKIP
The whole team began to swoon and fall hard for the older man.
Y/n didn't know why he had everyone down at his feet.
For example they all founded little ways to get the older man's attention.
Soap will find loads of vintage stuff and old things for Y/n to explain for him. Like it was an old gun from Y/n's time he found. When he showed Y/n Soap listened for hours on end happily when Y/n was rambling about the gun.
Gaz would ask stories about Y/n's childhood and all that. And he will spend all night and day hearing Y/n's stories from ones that he was little all a way to the first time he fought in war.
Price would find himself asking Y/n about old wars and old Technics that soldiers would use during Y/n's war. Sometimes when Y/n was feeling it he'll show him a move or two. If Y/n's doesn't blow his back out trying to stand up.
Ghost didn't try like the others did. But he figured out a way that he will still be in Y/n's mind or attention. Simon will stand guard and protect Y/n from sudden danger. At first Y/n was a bit irradiated from having a guard dog, but soon to love Ghost's comfortable presence near his own.
Today is the day.
Team 141 was prepared for anything that was gonna happen or show in the field. The only thing the team couldn't really prepare for was about seeing in action.
They were worried for the old guy. Every single one of them. They all had bad thoughts about what was gonna happen like what happens if his "weak old bones break." Soap will constantly say that as a joke but the fear of it actually happening is in the back of his mind.
Y/n could feel the worried stares at his back as he drove. Y/n lets out a deep sigh before turning around.
"Jesus. Stop acting like this is my first time fighting. I know none of you ever saw me in action, but god stop treating me like i'm a weak old man."
Gaz opens his mouth to speak but gets cut off by Y/n adding. "If you guys are really worried just stand back and watch."
Y/n pulls the car over near the battlefield joining the other soldiers waiting for them.
The battle starts as usual nothing from ordinary until Soap gets caught off guard behind.
The Scottish man tries to fight back the two figures fighting hand to hand combat. Soap was on the verge of losing until Y/n saves his life by tackling the unknown man to the ground. Soap watches in awe as Y/n punches the man repeatedly.
Y/n gets off the man before getting his gun out and shoots the man dead. "Hey kid, try not to die without me." Y/n shoots soap a wink before heading out.
Soap mouth is wide open trying to form any type of words while his face is completely flustered. "I-I uhm thanks C/n!" Soap finally spits out earning a slight chuckle from C/n making him even more embarrassed.
After that close call Soap started to watch Y/n secretly. Seeing Y/n do all of these crazy stunts like Y/n wall jumping just to kick the enemy in the head just for shits and giggles.
Soon enough all 141 members were back with each other only missing one guy. C/n.
They all look around looking for the older man with Gaz suggesting that they should "Split up and cover more ground." Price had refused and went into a building they hadn't checked yet with the team following after him.
"C/n! You're here!?!" Price shouts getting ready to send the boys to look around the building. "In---fuck- In here captain!" Well they didn't like the sound of that and all ran to the sound of the Y/n's voice.
Everyone got their guns out aiming at the door. Ghost gives the team a quick look before kicking the door down as everyone swarms in the room. After the room is all clear they move to Y/n's at. "You alright C/n?" Gaz asks patting Y/n's shoulder. "Yeah...The fucker punched some teeth out i'll be alright." Y/n says reassuring the team. "Why were you all alone here?" Ghost asks looking around at all the lifeless bodies.
"What can I say. I like to have fun when i'm fighting." Y/n answers with a shrug.
"But aye. You all think I still look pretty even with a bloody mouth." Y/n says flirting with the younger men that's all circling around him. While everyone is blushing and flustered Y/n makes his leave. "Hey! The last one in the car has to do everyone's chores!" Y/n shouts at the group shutting the door behind him before taking off.
Soap and Gaz are quick to bolt off while Price and Ghost stay behind.
Y/n gives the two boys a little boost by stopping and waiting for them to pass. "Hey! The old man can't run for too long hes gonna pull something!" Soap says laughing out while Gaz laughs and says something under his breath.
"You two better run faster. Because i'm gonna end up in front of you at the pace you are going." Y/n says beginning to jog to the car. As soon as Soap and Gaz are in the middle where the car is parked Y/n begins to run past the two men. Soap and Gaz gasp and run faster, but sadly Y/n makes it before them.
"Aye? What was that about an old man?"
the end

Cody let out a breath as he rubs his hands together in a pathetic attempt to warm himself. It was rather useless as no matter what he or anyone would do, it is freezing cold. Even in wearing an armor that was equipped with an enhanced heating system built in it that specializes to combat a cold and harsher climate like this one, it still was cold.
By the Maker, what he would do for a cup of hot caf (coffee) right now... or just be out of this godforsaken planet really— but, for some reason, Jedi Master Obi-wan Kenobi and Jedi Knight [Name] [Last name] were sent to scope the planet that almost had a similar terrain like the planet Orto Plutonia for something.
Why did the council even send people to a cold planet again, when the last one ended up as a bust as there were no signs of life? Cody does not know. All he knows was that the council still urges the two Jedis' to go and see if there is something to be done with the planet. And so, they brought their squad with them. Cody doesn't know if he would have preferred for him to be assigned to work with the 501st Legion at the moment or not.
Don't get Cody wrong, accompanying the Nova squad was a joy since the Nova squad wasn't as... headache-inducing to work with unlike the 501st and Cody got along with the Nova squad captain, Sixer, well enough— not to say he doesn't get along with Rex. But Sixer wasn't as... reckless as the captain of the 501st. The Nova squad was a group that could get the job done and was under General [Name].
And that was fine... for the most part.
"Commander," Cody immediately straightened his form as he saluted at the man he was happening to think.
"General," Cody greeted as he saw [Name] wave off his salute. The clone couldn't help but look at the Jedi's clothes, or for a better word, lack thereof.
"Sir, aren't you cold?" Cody couldn't help but asked as he eyed [Name] who, unlike everyone else, wasn't bundled up in clothes that were appropriate for the weather. Kriff, even General Obi-wan Kenobi was dressed up because of how cold it was! And [Name] was right here, just casually wearing his normal Jedi robes. It both made Cody worried and envious.
A deep chuckle left [Name]'s lips at that. "Cold? Not at all," [Name] said with a smile, rather amused the Jedi was like the clone commander shouldn't have asked that question. "Why? Are you cold, commander?" Cody did not miss the mischievous tone of the man. Frowning underneath his helmet, Cody sighed.
"Not everyone is blessed with genes to combat intense weather like this, sir," Cody said as he rubbed his hands again as a way to comfort and warm himself. Again, it was a futile attempt. Oh to be blessed with Zabrak-like resistance to the harsh climate and rough terrain. Cody was rather envious of [Name] right now.
"Do you need something, sir?" Cody asked, immediately trying to distract [Name] from whatever Jedi was going to say upon realizing something. Cody saw [Name]'s smile grow bigger, seeming to notice his envy, and Cody was reminded that [Name] was a Jedi... the man most definitely felt his emotions through the Force... kriff...
"Ah, nothing really," [Name] says, already knowing what the clone was doing and he seemed to feel some small mercy to not bring it up. [Name] looked at Cody and the clone commander felt a shiver down his spine. Cody was sure it wasn't from the cold weather. "Just wanted to say you look rather adorable in your snowsuit," [Name] complimented. His words would have been fine if he didn't continue. "Although you are far more adorable without it," [Name] teased as the clone froze on his spot.
Cody was rather thankful he had his helmet on as he can feel his face heat up from such a comment. Cody knew that comment was far from innocent, not from the gaze the Jedi was sent toward him. After a second of gathering his composure, it was only the that the clone commander felt a sudden horror upon the realization of what [Name] was implying and that they weren't the only ones there. Letting out a cough to gather himself, Cody looks around to make sure no one would have heard [Name]'s words as he then looked back at the Jedi and glared although it wouldn't be noticed with his helmet.
"Sir, that was highly inappropriate," Cody said as the clone can see [Name]'s amused smile at his words. "And might I remind you that General Kenobi is here?" He hissed. Cody hopes Obi-wan wasn't close by to feel in the Force... or something on whatever kriff these Jedi's had to know whatever was going on with him and [Name] because it would be both their heads if so. Cody can already feel the headache creeping in on just that thought.
"Master Kenobi left."
"... what?" Cody said dumbly as he stared at [Name] who looked amused by his genuine confusion. Since when did Obi-wan leave? And did that man seriously just leave them here on this ice of a planet??? Was that why he had heard the sound of a ship taking off earlier???
"He got called to assist Skywalker and left not too long ago, commander," [Name] had chuckled as he explained. "Did you not hear him call out to you? Master Kenobi said about you being in charge when my squad and I plan to go out to see whatever is out here later."
"My, it seems like the cold is getting to you, commander," he teased as [Name] watched Cody be embarrassed at his words as well as just not paying attention around him. He can easily sense the clone commander's embarrassment in his force signature, and it was honestly adorable. If only he can see the clone's face without that helmet.
Turning his heel, [Name] decided to go back to the tent that was set for him to occupy. "Going to rest for a bit before me and my squad goes out," [Name] said as he left. Although he paused his steps for a second to turn his head and smile at the clone commander. "I might have an idea how to warm you up though. You know where to find me, Cody."
Cody couldn't help but shudder at the Jedi calling him by name. Even after the times he gets called by his chosen name, Cody isn't used to it when it comes to [Name] calling him. Maybe it was because of how that man had said it that made the clone commander feel something indescribable every single time. It also helps [Name] call him by name most often when they are... alone...
"Ah kriff," Cody cursed as he looked in the direction where [Name]'s tent was. "Might take you on that offer, sir," Cody whispered to himself with a sigh.

The Ugly Friend
lil bit of ARC Trooper Fives x reader (sort of). Captain Rex x reader
Summary: You hit the town with your coworkers only to find yourself in a familiar situation: you're the ugly friend. It's gonna be a long night. ~5.7k word count
Warnings: alcohol use. Frustration, jealousy-ish feelings, guys being immature douchebags, sort of competition for a guy, rejection, being ignored, flirting, wavering self confidence, a kiss.
You pull a pink blazer on over your low cut white top and stand in front of your mirror. Damn! The front of your blouse accentuates the soft curves of your chest just the right way. Your shorts are a bit cheeky, but your blazer adds just the right amount of modesty and classiness to your outfit. You slip on some magenta heels and turn around to inspect yourself again in the mirror.
Yup, the heels really make the outfit. You admire the way they make your legs and ass look. The image before you fills you with confidence because you look damn good. This is the most daring thing you've worn in a while. The bold colors, the skin showing. You hope tonight's 'night out with the girls' is going to be fun.
You had recently arrived on Coruscant with a small group of other women. Several years post-graduation, you had recently changed careers and started all over in a new field. A risky move in the middle of a war, but it was a new and exciting chapter for you. For the past few weeks, you and the others had all been going through your introductory classes together as new hires for the company you all worked for. One of the ladies suggested going out tonight now that you had some time off and everyone agreed. Except, one part of you - a part you were ashamed to admit - didn't really want to go out with them at all.
And that reason was... out of the four new ladies at your company, you were very clearly 'the ugly friend' of the bunch. It wasn't even that they were several years younger than you. It's just that they were far prettier.
First, there was Tia. She was a thin, leggy blonde who turned heads everywhere she went. Literally. Then, there was Candy. A sultry redhead who effortlessly drew stares with her curvy body. She was curvy like a holonet advertisement model edited to perfect proportions, not like you at all. Finally, there was Liv, a Twilek. The exotic beauty of her lilac skin and green eyes were a magnet for men and women of all species.
You really tried to not feel jealous of them. Though you hadn't known them long, they were fairly nice and friendly to you. The problem was really how other people treated you in comparison to how they treated them, and how they treated you while in their company.
Your male coworkers would listen to them more than you, despite you having years of life experience over them. They would offer to take them out to lunch, hang out at happy hour after work, or help them with whatever tasks they were doing at work.
For you, your male coworkers would talk over you. They NEVER asked you out to lunch, or to take you out for drinks after work. Whenever you needed help, they would be short with you or just tell you to look things up in the procedure manuals.
And that's how they treated you when you were alone. If you were in a group together. Well, you were damn near invisible. People would not even acknowledge your presence if you were in a group together at work. You can only imagine how bad it will be tonight when they're all dressed up like you are now, looking to have a fun night out.
It's still a bit early but you decide head down a few levels to the designated meeting spot - some bar you hadn't heard of, but it had good reviews. It was a smaller, casual type of place. A good place to have a calm start to the night.
When you walk in the door, you take a glance at the bar and to your surprise, they're already there. You see the ladies - Candy, Tia, and Liv - posted up at the bar. Of course, they look fabulous. Tia is wearing a sparking silver dress that shows off her tiny figure and long legs. Candy is wrapped in a luxurious scarlet fabric that rivals the vibrancy of her red locks. Liv is wearing fitted leggings and a crop top that shows off her flat midriff and toned body. And of course, hovering around them are a small group of well dressed, attractive men.
Liv is seated at the end of the bar with her back against a wall. She faces the entrance of the bar, so she actually notices you arriving. She waves to you and motions for you to join them. You walk over, trying to hold on to your confidence.
"Hey, glad you could make it out," Liv says. "Yeah, me too. I needed a night out," you say.
"So, you were saying..?" a man to your left says toward Liv. There were two guys standing on either side of her. They must have been talking about something before you arrived. "Hang on, " she says toward him, holding up her finger. You notice her squirming in the barstool a bit. "Can you hold my drink while I go to the refresher?" she says, looking at you.
"Sure!" you say with a smile. She slips off the stool, and saunters off leaving you with her drink and the guy she was talking to. You turn to introduce yourself. He is quite attractive, a bit young for your taste, so you're not trying to take his attention off Liv. You just want to be polite.
"I'm - ," you start to say, but you notice he and the other guy have already started to move away from you to join the others standing around Candy and Tia.
You turn around and listen in on the conversation. One of the men is telling a joke or some anecdote to both of the ladies. They are listening and laughing along with him. After he finishes. One of the other guys jumps in and starts talking to Candy. Tia's attention is drawn to another man on her right that pipes up with something to say as well. The others appear to be listening in, chatting amongst themselves or waiting for their turn to jump in the conversation. No-one makes an effort to talk to you.
You finally get a chance to grab one of the ladies' attention to say 'Hi.' You hadn't spoken with either of them since you arrived. "Candy! Hey!" you say between the men standing in your way. "Hey girl," she reaches out to you and offers a fist bump. "Having fun?" she asks. You shrug. "Just got here," you reply. Candy nods. "Us too!" she says, but then her attention is swept away again when one of the men steps in to flirt. Of course, within minutes of arriving they would be swarmed with guys clamoring for their attention.
It's hard to stand there, not knowing what to say. You don't know these men and you haven't been involved in the conversations earlier that evening. They appear to be well-to-do, judging on how they're dressed. They must also work in one of the corporate offices above. None of them are making an effort to include you in the discussions or talk to you directly. Everyone is so involved with talking to each other or trying to flirt with Candy or Tia, so you just kind of stand there and listen passively. Some of the guys are young, like the ladies, but some appear to be around your own age or older. Yet, they do not show any interest in you, and literally ignore your presence.
Suddenly, you feel a hand on your shoulder. Liv is back from the refresher. "Thanks!" she says gratefully. You give her drink back and she slips back onto her stool. "Ah you're back!" the man she was talking to earlier steps back over before you or Liv can say anything to each other. "Yeah, so now tell me about..." Liv and the man resume their conversation from before her 'fresher break.
Ok, time for a drink, you think. You flag down the bartender and give him your order. "Hey, buddy," you hear being called out from your right side. One of the men flirting with Candy and/or Tia waves at the bartender in a friendly manner. "Can I get another round of whiskeys, and another round of whatever the ladies are having," he says.
"Thank you!" Liv says, across the group, placing her hand over her heart. "I got you baby," he says back to her. The man she is talking to grins at his friend buying the drinks and resumes his conversation with Liv.
You watch the bartender whip up the whiskeys and drinks for Liv, Candy, and Tia. He sets your drink down in front of you. "Six credits," he says. Clearly, he doesn't group you in with the 'ladies.' You drop the credits in his hand. To be fair, the man flirting with Candy and/or Tia did order another round for the ladies after you placed your order.
You scoop up your drink and look out across the bar. There is a crew setting up karaoke equipment in the corner. That looks like fun! "Oh look, karaoke!" you say, toward the guy standing on your left. He hasn't really been talking much tonight. Mostly, he has just been standing around Liv and listening to her talk. He doesn't react to you, so you speak up. "Hey, did you see they're setting up karaoke stuff?" you say, trying to make eye contact and initiate conversation. He locks eyes with you briefly before looking away mid-sentence to refocus back on Liv and his friend. There's no way he didn't see you talking. He is just ignoring you.
You turn around and try to join in on the conversation around Tia and Candy. "OOh, that looks good," Tia says, turning toward you and noticing your drink. "It is," you agree. Your colorful cocktail was bursting with flavor. It was something you had heard of, but hadn't tried yet. "Want a sip?" you offer. "Sure. Thanks!," Tia says, taking your drink. She takes a little sip and rolls her eyes back in her head, licking her lips. "Mmmm, that IS good," she says, handing your drink back. "I want one of those next," she says. A couple of the guys around her chuckle. "You got it," one of them says. "I know of a place that mixes those really well. Not too far from here."
"I dunno, it's gotta be good to beat that," Tia says. "Oh, it will be. You'll see," he says to her. After some more conversation, you look out across the bar at the DJ table where the karaoke equipment has been set up. It had been while since you had sang at a bar like this. It was not something you did often, but something that you found fun. You wondered if the girls liked singing too. You glance over at them. They're too busy for you to ask at the moment.
"Ready?" one of the men talking to Candy and Tia says. A chorus of agreement sounds and then you see a different guy each reach out to Liv, Tia, and Candy to help them down from their barstools. Each man holds out a bent arm which each of the ladies graciously accepts by hooking her arm into his. Huh? The group has decided to leave?
Not that anyone really included you in the conversation, but you did try to listen in. "Where are we going?" you ask toward the group. None of the guys responds. "Hey, where are we going?" you ask, tugging gently on Liv's other arm. "Up. Some place they know has good drinks, " she explains. "You'll love it," her guy says to her, not to you. "Lead the way," she says, flirting back with him.
You sigh and stare at a distant point in the bar, but don't move. They move past you to join the group inching toward the door. You feel frustrated and aren't having fun at all. All these guys jockeying for the girls' eyes and ears, showering them with attention. Of course it is fun for them. So much for the 'girls night.'
You still don't even know where they're all going. Or anything about these guys. They didn't talk to you. And you know why. The same reason as always. Nobody wants to be stuck with the ugly friend.
Liv, Candy, and Tia were all absorbed in their conversations so they couldn't really pay attention to you. And you couldn't blame them. They were like you: single and out to have fun. They couldn't help that they were beautiful and got so much attention. You could barely get a word in between the suitors practically fighting over each other and fighting you to talk to them. It was too much. This group and the vibe is off but the ladies seem to be all about it.
You turn at watch the group congregating toward the exit. If you stand still, they probably won't even notice you're not there, you think.
Out of the corner of her eye, Tia does notice you, and she breaks away from her guy to come back to you. "Hey, you coming? They're taking us to Eleven on Main."
No, they're taking you, Liv and Candy there, you think. But you don't say it. You don't want her pity.
Of course. Eleven on Main. You had heard of that place. It's upper crust only and very swanky. "Meh. I've been there," you lie. "It's not my thing. Actually, I'm feeling a little done. This drink is hitting me harder than I thought. Might call it a night already," you say.
Tia looks at you for a minute and you decide that she bought your lies. "Ok hon. Be safe. See you at the next training session," she says before returning to the waiting group.
"You too," you say and watch them leave. Climbing onto one of three now-empty stools, you sit to enjoy the rest of your drink. You can't help but feel a little melancholy sitting at the bar by yourself. You felt so confident leaving your apartment earlier, but then things like this happen and it messes with your head. The karaoke would be starting soon so at least you could have some entertainment before you leave.
Looking across the bar, you notice a small group of clone troopers entering one by one. You had taken Liv's spot at the end of the bar, facing the entrance, so you got a view of them all as they came in.
They are dressed down for the night, upper armor removed, but you can still see the blue markings on the lower pieces. Ah the 501st is back on Coruscant. You'd heard of them. They were famous since the Clone War started.
The three of them move toward the bar and take up some of the empty stools a couple of spots down from you. You try not to stare, but you can't help but notice them and the way their black undershirts cling to their bodies. The fabric leaves little to the imagination, as it forms almost a second skin on top of their broad backs and shoulders, well muscled arms, and rippling abs. There is a blonde one, one with a large Republic crest tattoo on his head, and one with designs cut into his hair.
The first singer of the night takes the mic and starts off with a poppy tune that you recognize. It's a good song. You notice two more clones enter the bar together, and call out to the ones already seated. They talk to their brothers and then move toward the two empty stools next to you.
The one with a "5" on his temple and goatee turns toward you, "Are these seats open?" he asks. Mmm. He's cute, you think. "Yes they are," you answer, turning your torso a bit. You subtly pull your blazer open to try to show some skin in an attempt to flirt. Guys rarely hit on you so you were used to making the first moves to try to get things going.
"Ok cool," he says, taking the seat next to you, while his brother sits on his other side. "Let me guess, you're with the 501st?" you ask, trying to initiate conversation. "Yeah, that's right," he says, turning his head to you and offering a friendly smile. "The blue gives it away, huh?"
"Well, yeah. I thought so. You guys are pretty well-known throughout the galaxy. I guess I never expected to actually meet one of you," you say. The trooper grins wide and proud, and you see him scrunch up his eyes a little.
"I see. I'm Fives," he says, holding out his hand. You take it and give him your name. "Pleasure to meet one of the famous 501st. Can I get you a drink?" you ask flirtatiously with a smirk on your lips.
You order him a drink and starts to sip it right away. You decide to try to keep up the conversation with this cute trooper. "You here for the karaoke?" you ask him.
"I didn't know they were doing that tonight," he says, "but I am so down for it!" You smile at him. His face is just like the others, with exception of his tattoo and goatee. His tan skin, dark amber eyes, full lips. "How 'bout you?" he asks.
"I uh, only really do it after a few drinks," you stammer out. And it's true. Fives motions toward your half empty drink on the bar in front of you. "I can't be certain, but you look like you need another drink soon. Hopefully, you'll let me buy you one?" he asks with a smirk of his own. Mmm that smirk, so sexy.
"I'll allow it," you say with a wink, "but only because you're cute."
Fives looks you up and down slowly, and chuckles. You feel your cheeks heat up in response to his attention. "Well, you're pretty cute yourself," he says back. You smile at his compliment. He's awfully adorable! You would have stood no chance if the ladies were here with you. You're glad that he's noticed you.
"Wanna look at songs with me?" you ask. "Yeah, lets go," he says. You each grab your drinks, go together to look at the song selection at the DJ's table.
While flipping through the selections, you chat and find that you have similar taste in music. In fact, you both end up picking the same song and decide to just do it together.
And singing it together turns out to be a blast! Fives is actually a very good singer. You aren't the best singer but you had sang this song in the shower so many times that you at least had some kind of practice. It is a popular song that gets the whole bar singing and dancing along with you both.
"That was so much fun!" you say, reaching out to put a hand on Fives' shoulder. You throw back the rest of your drink to cool your throat which was kind of raw from belting out the song earlier. Fives pats you on the shoulder and you walk back toward the bar together where you were previously seated.
As you approach the bar, you notice that in yours and Fives' former barstools are seated two identical women - twins - who happen to be very beautiful. The trooper Fives walked in with is facing the one seated next to him, and chatting with them both. And that's fine. You weren't worried trying to save the seats.
Fives approaches the bar, standing next to his seated brother and you follow behind him. "And this is my twin, Fives," the man says, softly elbowing Fives in the rib. "Hey, Echo," Fives says looking at his brother with amused annoyance, but then he catches sight of the twins giggling at Echo's remark. "Hello there, Fives," they both say nearly in unison, batting their pretty eyes.
You see Fives' do a double take between the sisters. The concept of natural twins must be fascinating to the clones. The twin ladies both have the same dark wavy hair, and stunning tan skin tone. They are wearing identical dresses, but one is in red while the other is in blue.
"Fives, this is Staci," Echo says, motioning to the one dressed in red. "And this is Maci," Echo says, tipping his head toward the woman seated next to him, in blue.
Fives flashes them each a smile, and greets them both. You watch both Staci and Maci hungrily eye the two troopers up. And that's fine. They can have Echo or the others seated at the bar. You saw Fives first. And you had just slayed a karaoke song together. And he's getting you a drink.
Echo turns to you and notices you standing behind Fives. "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't see you there, " he apologizes. "I'm Echo. And you are...?" he asks. You introduce yourself to Echo and he nods his head. "Nice singing earlier," he says, offering you a thumbs up. "Yeah, I fuckin love that song!" Maci pipes up. "Makes me wanna dance!" Staci says, raising her arms above her head and moving in her seat to the new song playing now. "Whooo!" Maci copies her actions before turning to take Echo's hands and pull him out of his seat to dance nearby.
Fives turns around and hands you a fresh drink. "Here's that drink I promised," he says with a warm smile. "Wanna grab a table?" you offer toward Fives, motioning toward an empty table for two across from the bar.
Due to the volume of music and chatter in the bar, you had to say that louder than you wanted in order for him to hear you. Unfortunately, that meant that Staci heard you when she decided to butt in. "Dance with me," she says, moving closer toward you and Fives. Fives quickly downs his shot and places the empty glass on the bar, while Staci moves in on him. He turns and joins her. "Uhh, sure!" he says, dancing to the song along with Maci and Echo. You happen to like the song too, so you kind of join in on the dancing together around them. There are other people at the bar dancing around the floor so it's not like you're all by yourselves out there.
When the song ends, you turn toward Fives to see if he wants to go get a table now, but he and Staci are still holding onto each other. Dammit! You'd been in this situation before. Where you'd actually gotten a guy's attention only for someone else to swoop in. You don't believe in competition, but you want to be aggressive enough to let it be known you are attracted to him. If Staci was brave enough to make such a bold a move, then you should feel confident to do the same.
A new song comes on and the beat is bumpin'. Perfect. You dance over to Staci and Fives hoping to get him to dance with you for a song now. You go right where he can see you and you decide to take a play out of Staci's book. "Hey Fives! Dance with me!" you say with an inviting smile, holding out your arms and playfully making a 'come hither' motion with both your index fingers.
You see Staci pout up at Fives. His face fills with confusion, like he is torn on this decision. Then, lets out a chuckle, holding up one hand, palm up, shrugging his shoulder. He's acting like he's stuck with her and there's nothing he can do. It's frustrating, but he's adorable.
The beat goes on and Staci starts to dance closer to him until they are basically grinding on each other. You continue dancing by yourself hoping you can get your chance the next song. You now had turned into a 5th wheel, effectively, in a matter of minutes.
As soon as the song ends, you move closer to Fives. He and Staci are still clinging to each other and whispering in each others' ears. If he didn't want to dance with you, maybe he'd want to do another karaoke song? You had a lot of fun earlier with the song you did together. "Hey Fives, wanna do another song?" you offer. If you could only get him away from Staci...
Fives and Staci stare at each other as they catch their breaths from their dirty dance session. Clearly, something is developing between them. You sigh and give up. You don't stand a chance against her.
Fives looks up at you, shaking his head and scrunching his nose. "Nah, we're actually heading out," he says, confirming your suspicions. "Echo! 79s?" he calls out to his brother. Echo nods and whispers something into Maci's ear. She nods with excitement. "It was nice meeting you. Thanks for the drink earlier, and have fun singing tonight," Fives says to you politely as he and Echo gather up the twins and exit the bar.
Looking down the bar, you notice the group of three clones from earlier is now reduced to two. The blonde one is gone already. The one with the designs in his hair and the Republic crest tattoo guy are putting a few credits on the bar to pay for their drinks. They're getting ready to leave as well.
You return to the corner barstool where you sat most of the night. Your half empty drink that Fives bought you is still on the bar. The ice has melted into it by now and it is watery tasting, but you give it a good stir, and still drink it. It's your consolation prize for the night.
Facing the bar, you sip your drink steadily, now with the intention of finishing it and calling it a night. You are alone in your thoughts when you hear a familiar voice over you right shoulder. Fives?
You turn to see the blonde clone from earlier. "Miss...I saw you with my troopers Fives and Echo earlier. Is everything OK?" he asks with concern.
"Yeah," you say rolling your eyes lightly, making a dismissive motion with your hand. "They, uh, left with some other girls," you say. The blonde clone seems surprised by your answer, and maintains his look of concern. "Ok, I just wanted to make sure they were treating you right," he says taking a seat next to you, and setting his drink on the bar. "I'm Rex, by the way," he says. Then, you introduce yourself to him.
"Heard you singing earlier," he says, his face bearing that same sexy smirk that Fives showed you earlier. Do they all smile like that? you wonder inside your head. His eyes quietly roam your figure nearly the same way Fives' did earlier, but there's something softer about the way Rex does it . "Do you do this kind of thing often?" he asks, motioning toward the karaoke DJ.
"No, not really. I sing a lot, just not in front of other people much. Just like, in the shower and stuff like that," you admit. Rex puts his elbow on the bar and turns slightly toward you, smiling. "Oh, I understand," he says, nodding his head. "You're good though. A good singer," he says.
"Really? Thanks," you say earnestly, looking over his face. He's cute, too, you think. But much different from his trooper, Fives. Something about this one is suave and smoother. Less playful, and more deliberate.
"Do you sing?" you ask. "I do," he says, taking a sip of his drink. "Just not a lot in front of people."
"Then that's something we have in common," you raise your glass to offer a toast to that. You gently clink your glasses together. Rex huffs softly. "Cheers," he says, lifting his glass again to his pouty lips for a sip of his liquor. "I guess us being at a bar on karaoke night gives us a chance to break out of that pattern if we want," he adds, cocking his head to the side. You raise an eyebrow in interest, "Wanna go pick out a song?" you ask him. You see him hesitate. ”I bet you’re really good,” you add in encouragement.
The two clones that came in with Rex approach and tear his attention away from you for a second. "Sir, coming to 79s?" the one with the hair designs asks. "Kix, I think I'm sitting out on that place tonight. You boys have fun," he says. "Thanks. Good night Miss," the clone says before he and the other leave the bar.
You finally finish the rest of the melted drink Fives had bought you, while Rex knocks back the rest of his liquor. Then, you both go up to the DJ table to pick out a song together.
The song you pick is an absolute banger. It was popular several years ago, but it's a song with plenty of nostalgia and is enough to get the whole place dancing and singing along. Rex is an impressive singer, just as good as Fives, and you can't tell if it's the liquor or energy from the crowd, but he is really getting into the performance. You both dance and sing your heart out. You don't do this much, but when you do it, it's cathartic.
When you finish the song, Rex offers you a high five as you step back toward the bar together. "That was awesome!" you say, nearly out of breath. Instead of swatting his hand, you slowly press your hand against his and thread your fingers into the spaces between his fingers. He locks eyes with you as if to make sure he is reading the moment correctly. He accepts your advance and steps in toward you.
The next performer is singing slow song, a much needed break from the thundering pace of the previous songs of the night. You lean in to speak to him over the music. "Is this ok?" you ask, slowly putting your arms around him and beginning to sway to the music. You look up to him and smile bashfully. "Yes," he says, holding you. You aren't the most graceful dancer, but in his arms, following his lead, you feel like you are a queen in a grand ballroom dancing with a king.
When the song ends, you slowly break out of your embrace but Rex continues to hold your hand and guide you back to the bar. There, you easily fall into long conversation about everything. Music and dancing. Drinks and food. Space travel. Planets you'd both been to. What you're doing on Coruscant. He tells you about a little about the GAR and growing up on Kamino.
You spend the rest of your evening there at the bar, chatting away with Rex while the minutes go by. Before you know it, it's late and you're both feeling like it's time to call it a night.
Rex offers to walk you home, and you accept. How could you turn him down? You exit the bar, and begin to stroll to your apartment in the cool night air. As you step side by side slowly down the walkway, Rex wraps his hand around yours. "Is this ok?" he asks. You accept his hand into yours and you look up at him. "Yes," you say quietly. He is so gorgeous, and such a gentleman, he takes your breath away and it is hard not to stare at him, but you need to look at where you're stepping.
When you arrive at your building, you turn to face Rex. He's already looking at you when you face him. "Listen - " he says your name, "I had a really good time with you tonight." Rex suddenly seems a bit shy and looks a way for a bit before continuing. "I was hoping that next time I'm on Coruscant... that we can get together again?"
"Of course. Rex, I'd love to get to know you better. You seem like a fun guy," you say. You think you see Rex's cheeks flush even in the relative dim light of the nearby streetlamps. "Well, good. Thank you," he says quietly. You input your comm frequency into this device.
"I guess I'll just keep an ear out for when the galaxy-renowned 501st is back," you say. "Your General is quite famous in the media. Hopefully he lets you have some time off when you're back." You didn't know much about the Jedi but some of them were known to be very strict with their troopers' off time.
"General Skywalker will. He's pretty good about that kind of thing," Rex says, shrugging one shoulder. "So you don't have to worry about that.”
"What about the other officers? Are they good about that too?" you ask.
"Yeah," he replies, "Commander Tano likes to give us time off. So those decisions really just fall on the Captain." Rex's lips then form that sexy smirk from earlier. His hands move to hold you by your waist gently.
"Well, he'd better let you come see me next time," you say playfully.
"Oh, he will. He's me," Rex says, maintaining his little smirk. You giggle a bit at his statement, but then you realize that he is being honest with you. He's the Captain.
Nodding in understanding, you wrap your arms around him, looking over his face. "I'm looking forward to seeing you again," he whispers before leaning in for a kiss. You capture his mouth with yours, returning the kiss eagerly. His lips are just as soft and warm and inviting as they look. The kiss is short and sweet, but perfect at the same time. Just enough to leave your lips tingling and tease your curious mind about what it would be like to take things further.
That would have to wait until next time. "Good night," Rex says, barely pulling his mouth away to speak. "Good night, Captain," you tease, leaving him with a flirty smile.
You turn and walk into your apartment building with a little extra sway in your hips. Tonight had turned out quite well despite all that happened earlier. Perhaps it was a good thing you were left at the bar alone tonight so you could meet the dashing Captain of the famous 501st. Maybe tonight, being the 'ugly friend' was a good thing for once.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
just some quick commentary - i don't mean for Fives to seem like an a-hole. I love him and would never mean to write him that way. For this story he wasn't completely vibing with Reader and that's ok. Not everyone we meet is gonna be attracted to us. I hc Fives as the type that is hott and he knows it, so maybe he's a bit more shallow. Like, he's not an a-hole at all, he just prefers pretty girls.

Nothing happened.
Thresh’s sword hovered inches from Quill’s neck, the Trandoshan clearly struggling to move his hand from where it was frozen in place.
“What -.” Fives gasped, looking around wildly. His eyes landed on Ju’Lah, her hand outstretched and face screwed up in concentration.
Quill was first to react.
He charged into Thresh, knocking him onto his back and forcing him to drop the sword. His hands were still bound behind his back, but that didn’t stop him from headbutting the Trandoshan, trying to push himself to his feet.
The other Trandoshans who had been gathered around Thresh charged at Quill, readying their weapons, but blaster-fire rang out once more through the clearing. You looked up to the rooftop again, finally recognizing the tip of a rifle poking out behind the cover of the trees near the building, and one by one, the Trandoshans began to fall as Crosshair took them out.
“Get to the tunnels!” Athena shouted at you and Ju’Lah, drawing her blaster. “It’s the two of you they want, you have to run!”
“Mama?” Kiran asked, tugging on her pantleg anxiously.
Fives and Echo ran past you, sprinting up the hillside towards Quill.
“Dogma,” Athena commanded, picking Kiran up and quickly passing him to the clone. “Get these three to the tunnels, they’ll be safest there.” Then, after a moment of hesitation, she added, “Stay with them, help protect the people below ground if it comes to that.”
“Yes ma’am.” Dogma nodded, holding out a hand to Ju’Lah. “Come on, quickly!”
You cried out again as the pain in your stomach became unbearable, your knees buckling underneath you as you fell to the ground.
“What happened?! Are you hit?” Dogma crouched beside you, but Ju’Lah pushed him out of the way, putting her hands flat against your belly.
“Something – something’s wrong.” You whimpered, clutching your stomach. “Something’s wrong.”
Ju’Lah pulled her hands back, a serious expression on her little face. “Can you walk?”
You shook your head, and Ju’Lah reached for Kiran instead.
“Dogma, you have to carry her. Let me take Kiran. Try to jostle her as little as possible.”
“What’s going on?” Dogma asked, but did as he was told.
“I think the baby is coming.”
“What?!” You managed tightly, gripping your stomach and groaning lowly. “Not now, not now, he can’t come now, it’s still way too early.”
“We have to get to Soteria in the tunnels.” Ju’Lah said.
A loud rumbling prevented your response, and you looked up just in time to see four large dropships soaring over the village.
“The Empire.” You whispered. “They’re here.”
Dogma moved first, carefully working his arms under you and grunting as he picked you up, cradling you as best he could against his chest. “Come on, everyone stay together.” He ordered. “Kid, with me, let’s move!”
“There’s an entrance to one of the tunnels inside the Command Center!” Ju’Lah shouted over the frightened screams of villagers as the Imperial ships landed. “Come on!”
Ju’Lah hoisted Kiran higher in her arms, holding him as steady as she could while Dogma carried you, and the four of you started towards the Command Center.
When you made it to the entrance, you could already see an ocean of white armor marching towards the village, and you glanced to Dogma, spotting the horror and fear in his eyes.
“Kriff,” he whispered. “Kriff, we’re all going to die.”
“Drop us off and then join the fight.” You ordered him. “Rex will – oh gods – Rex will need all the help he can get.” You winced mid-sentence, covering your stomach again.
Soteria was waiting just inside the tunnel’s entrance, her hands outstretched to catch you as Dogma lowered you down. “What’s happening?!”
“We think she’s in labor.” Dogma explained quickly, passing you down. “I’m going to join the others, stay underground!”
He left you with Soteria, who hoisted your arm over her shoulder and carefully guided you down into the tunnel, leading you deeper underground while Ju’Lah followed, carrying a sobbing Kiran in her arms.
“It’s okay, Kiran.” Ju’Lah tried to soothe him, setting him down and taking his hand instead. “Come on, just a little further.”
“We’re nearly to the bunkers.” Soteria called over her shoulder. “Just hang in there a bit longer.”
You could feel something hot running down your leg, and you whimpered softly, terror coursing through you as you gripped Soteria tightly. “No matter what, you get him out.” You told her, your voice shaking. “You save him no matter what, okay?”
“I’ll do everything I can -.”
“No, you promise me.” You grabbed her arm tighter, nails digging into her skin. “If it comes down to him or me, you save Calder. Promise me.”
Soteria hesitated, but she nodded. “I promise.”
You relaxed, but only slightly. Soteria pushed open the door to the bunker, ushering people out of the way as she led you to an isolated corner, tearing Rex’s cape from your shoulders and setting it aside, instead guiding you to one of the cots scattered throughout the room.
“Lie back.” She commanded, and Ju’Lah rushed over, helping to guide you down as she moved her hands quickly over your belly.
“I can sense him.” She reported. “He’s alive, but he’s distressed, something’s not right.”
“I need a scanner.” Soteria cursed under her breath, her head whipping around wildly until she spotted someone positioned near the entrance to the bunker. “Tech! Come here!”
“Captain Howzer is guarding the other entrance.” Tech reported as he jogged over with Omega on his heels. “I was told to wait here and -.” He cut himself off, dropping immediately to your other side and raking his eyes across your body, filtering in the data appearing on his visor. “Well. That’s a problem.”
“What is it?” Soteria demanded.
“It appears the placenta is becoming abrupted.” Tech replied.
“What – what does that mean?” You asked weakly.
“It means the fetus will soon be unable to get oxygen.” Tech replied, focused as ever as he removed his pack, fumbling around in it for a moment. “We will need to remove the fetus as quickly as possible for it to have any chance of survival.”
“I don’t have any supplies here, the best we’ve got is bacta and some bandages in the supply crates.” Soteria protested, and lowered her voice, whispering something frantic to Tech.
“What are you saying, talk to me!” You demanded, propping yourself up on your elbows, only to flatten on your back again as another wave of pain ripped through you. “Get him out!” You shouted, panic finally overtaking you. “He can’t breathe, get him out!”
“What can I do to help?” Omega asked, her expression determined.
“I’m going to need you to help me keep her still.” Soteria said. “And – and the storage crates, get as much bacta and bandages as you can. Quickly.”
“I can numb her pain, but I – I’m not strong enough to heal her if this goes wrong.” Ju’Lah warned. “I have to get my Buir, he can help better than me.”
“Go.” Soteria said at once. “Run. As fast as you can.”
Ju’Lah wasted no time, jumping to her feet and darting back out of the tunnels as fast as her legs could carry her.
“I know this is scary, but try to stay calm.” Soteria soothed, smoothing her hand along your forehead. “We’re going to get him out, okay? You’re already in labor, and Tech’s going to give you a stim shot to help speed things up. Just listen to your body and do what it tells you to do.”
You nodded, inhaling slowly and trying to quell the rising terror in your chest. “Rex doesn’t know.” You said quietly, your voice shaking again. “Kriff, he’s out there fighting, he doesn’t know. What if something happens to him? What if something happens to both of us?”
“You have to stay calm.” Soteria reminded you, brushing the backs of her knuckles lightly against your cheek. “It’ll be alright, deep breaths. When Gol’Chek comes, he can give us an update on Rex. I’m sure it’ll all be alright.”
Your mind was racing. What if you died? What if Rex was killed? Who would watch over your son?
You whimpered again as another wave of pain washed over you, and Tech pricked something into your neck while Soteria worked to disrobe you.
Above ground, several things were happening at once.
~
Rex raced through the village, shouting orders left and right as he went.
“Everyone get to the tunnels, quickly! If you can hold a weapon, prepare for invasion! Move, now!”
He drew his blasters, leaving the Darksaber untouched on his hip for now and turned his head towards the sky, the familiar whine of incoming ships drawing his attention as Gol’Chek sprinted to his side.
“There’s four of them.” Gol’Chek reported, breathless as the ships came in for a landing. “They’ve got to be loaded with Imperials.”
Both men ducked as the dropships began firing at the structures along the edge of the village, and Rex lifted his head, spotting three figures in the distance running for their lives from the fray down the side of the hill. One appeared to be a Nautolan.
“Rex, we won’t survive against that many troopers.” Gol’Chek told him, his voice grim. “Not unless I perform the Recitation.”
Rex’s head swum for a moment as he struggled to remember what that meant. He looked at Gol’Chek’s staff, at the inscription burned into the wood, and he remembered the conversation he’d overheard on the Cordillera many months ago.
“What’s it say?”
“It’s an ancient dialect of Cymruun, the Garbak language.” Ju’Lah answered before Gol’Chek could. “Unreadable to anyone but him, now. And he can’t say it aloud.”
“Why not?”
“Because it will kill him.” Ju’Lah gave Gol’Chek a sharp look. “Right? It’s a Recitation, isn’t it? You call upon the All-Mother when you read it but in exchange, she gets to take you back to the Pale with her.”
Rex shook his head. “No. No, not if it’ll kill you in the process.”
“We don’t have a choice.” Gol’Chek said forcefully. “The Recitation is for our darkest hour, and this is it. We aren’t strong enough to take them all, Rex.” He gripped his staff tighter. “I can.”
“Maybe we can’t take them alone, but with help, we stand a chance.” Rex said, quickly pressing buttons on his commlink as another explosion rocked the village. “Don’t do anything stupid.” He warned Gol’Chek, bringing the device to his lips.
“Wolffe, we’re under attack!” He began, throwing an arm over his head to defend himself as another explosion lit up one of the buildings nearby. “The Empire’s here, they’ve found us.”
He took a shuddering breath. “Listen, if you can’t help us, everyone here is going to die. All of us.” He flinched as the bombers swept through again, and a nearby home was obliterated. “Help us, Commander. You’re our only hope.”
“Everyone brace along the edge of the village, facing the dropships.” Gol’Chek ordered. “If we can hold them off, we can buy time for everyone else to get to the bunkers.”
“No, you need to get high, as high as you can.” Rex said.
Gol’Chek blinked. “I beg your pardon?”
“Find high ground. Then get mad. Really mad.” Rex insisted. “You can make it storm, Gol’Chek. You can give us an advantage.”
“What are you talking about?”
“You didn’t realize it before?” Rex asked. “Gol’Chek, when you were on the roof after you found out about the baby, you were the one making it rain. You were the one summoning the thunder and lightning. It was all you. You have more power than you realize.” He put a hand on Gol’Chek’s shoulder. “Use it.”
“The fighters are assembling along the Northern perimeter.” Athena reported, skidding up to the group. “Hunter and Wrecker are leading one team to the West, and Dogma’s got another group to the East. We need our flanks covered, and Rex, you should take the lead in the northern quarter.”
Rex turned to Gol’Chek. “We need you behind us.” He said. “Give it everything you’ve got.”
Gol’Chek hesitated, but nodded quickly, gripping his staff tighter and about-facing, running for the hills.
“Where are the others?” Rex asked.
“Howzer and Tech are below ground, helping protect the civilians. I haven’t seen Fives, Quill, or Echo.” Athena’s voice shook slightly at that, but she cleared her throat quickly. “Your wife is safe.”
Rex relaxed, but only marginally. “We need to find the others as fast as we can. If you find Echo, send him to the Eastern corner with Dogma, Fives and Quill can brace the inner village in case they get through our lines of defense. Athena, you’re with me.” He nodded. “Let’s move!”
Everyone split off, and Rex looked to the sky again. A single fighter flew overhead, landing far away from the Empire’s troops and out of Rex’s sight.
“Who’s that?” Athena asked, jogging alongside him.
“I don’t know, but let’s hope it’s a friend.” Rex muttered. “Go, quickly!”
~
Fives sprinted across the clearing, drawing his blaster as he moved and firing on the first Trandoshan to turn his way. Echo was hot on his heels.
Blaster fire from Crosshair’s rifle sailed over his head, blasting Trandoshans away from Quill as they tried to attack him, and Fives prayed to whatever gods were listening that his aim was true, and a stray bolt wouldn’t hit Quill.
He threw himself onto the back of one of the Trandoshans attacking Quill, and the Trandoshan roared, throwing his head back and snapping his jaws at Fives. Fives grit his teeth, pulling the knife Quill had given him from its sheath and stabbing the Trandoshan through the neck, felling it at once.
Echo raced up behind him, firing hard onto the remaining Trandoshans as Fives attacked the second one that was after Quill, driving the blade first through its ribs and then again through the neck, dropping it just as he had dropped the first one.
“Quill!”
“I’m alright.” Quill sat up, his cheek bruised and nose bloodied from where he’d been hit, but seemed otherwise unharmed. “Quickly, untie me.”
Fives went around behind him, using the blade to free Quill from his bindings, and as soon as the Nautolan was free, Fives threw his arms around him.
“Fuck, fuck I thought I lost you.” He whispered breathlessly, balling his fists up in the fabric of Quill’s shirt.
“I’m alright, little one.” Quill promised, wrapping his tendrils reassuringly around Fives. “I’m alright.”
“Where is he?” Fives demanded, pulling back at last and looking around for Thresh. “I’ll kill the shabuir myself, where is he?!”
He turned, starting to stalk towards the ship where he assumed Thresh had run and hid, but Quill grabbed his arm.
“Fives, leave him, we have to go, and we have to go now.”
He pointed up, and Fives saw the four dropships coming down for a landing in the very field they occupied.
“Oh skrag. Run!”
He took off again with Quill and Echo right behind him, and one of the dropships open fired, cannon fire exploding through the field around and behind them, kicking up dirt and debris as they ran.
“Hurry!” Echo shouted, ducking his head around the cannon fire.
They ran into the village, cannon fire following them and blowing through the nearby buildings as they ran, with Quill finally grabbing Fives and ducking in cover as Echo lunged behind one of the stone buildings, covering his head and rolling into cover.
“Osik!” Fives ducked his head as the building beside theirs blew to smithereens, debris flying through the village.
The dropships had surrounded the village, and the cannon fire blessedly stopped only to be replaced by the march of several platoons of soldiers, all in the frighteningly white uniformity of the clones.
“Gods, we’re outnumbered.” Fives whispered to Quill, peeking his head around the building. “We’re way outnumbered, ten to one at least.”
He turned to Quill. “We can’t fight them all.”
Another starfighter flew low overhead, landing on the opposite side of the village, but none of the men noticed.
“We need to make a break for it.” Echo called across the street. “They’ve stopped firing to assemble, they’re surrounding the village on all sides. They’ll begin the march any moment.”
“Fives, Fives do you copy?”
“I’m here, Captain.” Fives sighed in relief, lifting his comm and peeking out around the building again. “We’re pinned down in the town center. I’m with Echo and Quill.”
“Send Echo to the East, we need more men on that side. You and Quill get whoever’s left and brace the inner village. We can’t let them breach the tunnels.”
“Copy that, we’re on the move.” He paused, noticing a figure dressed in black slowly walking towards the village. “Who’s that?”
Quill turned his head, looking to where Fives was. “That isn’t one of ours. Is he one of theirs?” He asked, jerking his head to where the troopers were beginning to march on the village.
“I don’t know.” Fives said, staying crouched low. “Echo, get to the Eastern perimeter, they need backup over there.”
Echo nodded, taking off towards the east while Fives turned to Quill. “You ready for this?”
Quill grinned, nodding once. “I think it’s good luck to go to war with your fiancé.” He teased. Then, in a more serious voice, he added, “They took my blasters, do you have an extra?”
Fives chuckled, drawing a blaster pistol and passing it to Quill. “Where would you be without me?”
Quill smirked. “Perhaps now is finally your chance to actually save my life, trooper, instead of me saving yours…” he tapped his forehead against Fives’. “… twice.”
“You’ll never let me live that down, will you?” Fives grinned.
“Not as long as I live.”
Fives rolled his eyes, and turned back towards the battlefield, his smile fading at once. “They’re coming.” His hand found Quill’s, and the two men waited side by side for the end to come.
~
When Ju’Lah reemerged from the tunnels, an all-out war had taken over the village. Bodies of rebels and stormtroopers alike were strewn about across the streets, and blaster fire rang out all around her. She could hear the whine of comm chatter droning from one of the fallen rebel’s commlinks, and she snatched it quickly, listening as she ran.
“They’ve broken through the Eastern defenses, fall back! Fall back!”
“They’re inside the village, they’ve flanked around the sides. They’re coming inward!”
“Fives, Quill, brace yourselves and whatever fighters you can arm, they’re coming toward you!”
Ju’Lah ran towards the heart of the village, where she knew most of the fighting was, and took to the rooftops, scampering across them as quickly as possible and watching the fighting below.
Across the village, away from the worst of the fighting, Thresh stepped over the bodies of fallen warriors and stormtroopers alike, the Command Center looming proudly ahead of him. He could smell blood, could taste it in the air, feel it beating through the thready pulse of the one survivor, the last man standing who had been trying to guard the entrance to the tunnels that lay hidden in the Command Center.
Thresh sighed as Howzer’s fingers twitched, reaching futilely for his blaster, and he raised his foot, stepping on the man’s wrist as the clone gasped, choking on his own breath in his cry of pain.
“You’re beaten, young man.” Thresh cooed, leaning down slightly. “Why do you still fight?”
The two Trandoshans flanking Thresh chuckled, watching as their leader sighed again. He kicked the blaster away from Howzer’s hand, instead dropping his foot to the soldier’s bloody chest plate and pressing down. “Tell me how to get inside.”
Howzer scowled, blood dribbling down from the corners of his mouth. “I won’t – talk – to scum like you.” He wheezed, glaring up at the Trandoshan with as much fire behind his eyes as he could manage.
The Trandoshan hummed, drawing his blaster from its holster. “Pity.”
A single blaster shot rang out, and the Trandoshan to Thresh’s right fell. Another shot, and the one to his left fell before he could even look over his shoulder. Below him, Howzer wheezed.
Thresh smiled to himself, slowly raising his hands and turning around. “I was wondering when you might catch up to me.”
Rex stared him down, his blaster aimed directly at the Trandoshan.
“You’re a man of honor, Captain. I could tell that about you even then, when you were at my fortress.” Thresh continued, taking his foot off Howzer’s chest and stepping towards Rex. “You kill only out of necessity. You wouldn’t kill an unarmed man.”
Rex lowered his blaster, but only slightly, and the Trandoshan smiled.
“Or maybe you just want to make it hurt.” He hissed. “Maybe you aren’t such a good man after all. Maybe, after all this talk about the things I want to do to your woman, to your child, maybe I’ve struck a nerve in you, hmm?”
He lowered his hands, instead reaching for his belt and withdrawing his sword, the very one he’d held to Quill’s neck back in the clearing. It crackled to life, and Thresh stared Rex down. “Let this end in honor, Captain.” He called. “Let this end in blood.”
Rex lowered his blaster, holstering it and instead withdrawing the Darksaber. He ignited it, gripping the hilt tightly in both hands as Thresh pulled his lips back from his teeth, a sinister sneer creeping across his expression. Rex tightened his grip. Exhaled.
Thresh charged first.
As two blades clashed in front of the Command Center, the edges of the village were being overrun, falling back further and further into the cover of the village only to become more cornered than before.
“Fall back!” Athena screamed, waving her blaster in the air to signal the others. “FALL BACK!”
Fives and Quill ran further back into the village, with Athena and Echo behind them. Dogma was limping, half-leaning against Wrecker while Hunter covered them as the remaining rebels fought for their lives. Ju’Lah dropped down into the center of the fighting, igniting her lightsaber and striking down as many stormtroopers as she could before falling back with the rest of the group.
“We’re pinned!” Athena shouted into the comms. “Rex, where are you?! REX!”
“We have to fall further back into the village, there’s still some buildings standing that can give us cover!” Fives shouted over the chaos. “We’re too exposed out here!”
“Keep firing, and keep moving backwards!” Athena roared, firing her blaster once into the air and waving everyone backwards. “EVERYONE BACK! INTO THE VILLAGE, QUICKLY!”
Wrecker yelled as he threw a smoke grenade, temporarily granting them some cover as they started to run deeper into the village.
A red blade lit up in the center of the smoke. A second protruded behind it.
The stormtroopers howled as they were cut down one by one, the blade whipping mercilessly through the smoke. Finally, the smoke cleared, and a figure approached.
It wasn’t the same Zabrak who had raided her village those years ago, slaughtering her family and friends, burning her village and leaving her and Gol’Chek for dead. But Ju’Lah knew him. Her visions, the stories of Rex and his brothers who fought the monster and survived, all of it, it all pointed to him.
“I’ve been looking for you for a long time, girl.” He hissed, yellow eyes cutting through the rebels and landing straight on Ju’Lah. “It is good to finally meet, Garbak.”
Maul.
Ju’Lah was frozen. She couldn’t move. She couldn’t breathe. For the second time in her life, Ju’Lah faced down a Zabrak, only this time, her Buir wasn’t there to save her.
Fives didn’t hesitate.
He grabbed Ju’Lah between one breath and the next, sprinting in the opposite direction as fast as he could while the others scattered, open firing on the Sith Lord as they ran.
“Shit! Fall back!” Athena shouted again, and Ju’Lah heard her scream somewhere behind her while Fives continued to run.
Fives didn’t make it far, the sounds of Maul storming after them, and the carnage he left in his wake, following them as he ducked into an alleyway, setting Ju’Lah down and crouching in front of her.
“Look at me.” Fives gripped her arms tightly, forcing her to look him in the eye. “You go, you understand me? You run, right now, as fast as you can. Get to the tunnels and don’t look back, okay?” He shifted his grip to cup her cheeks. “Don’t look back, just run.”
“I’m not leaving you!”
“You have to.” An explosion rocked them both for a moment, and Fives pulled her close, hugging her so tight that she thought her bones may break.
When he released her, he cupped her cheeks again, brushing quickly at her tears. She hadn’t realized she’d been crying.
“You run.” Fives said firmly, his voice breaking on the word. “You run as fast as you can, Ju’Lah. Don’t look back.”
Ju’Lah nodded, and Fives pressed his forehead quickly against hers. “I’ll come find you when it’s over, I promise.”
Blaster fire sailed over their heads, and Fives pushed Ju’Lah behind him, shielding her as he fired back on the incoming stormtroopers. “Go!”
Ju’Lah obeyed, running as fast as her legs could carry her while Fives straightened up, raising his blaster and preparing himself to buy as much time for Ju’Lah as he could.
Back in front of the Command Center, Rex’s blade clashed with Thresh’s, the electricity crackling from Thresh’s sword and threatening to sear Rex’s skin as the clone twisted away, swinging back around to bring his blade low, only to be blocked again.
“I didn’t realize clones were trained swordsmen as well, Captain!” Thresh called as he brought his blade down hard twice in a row. “Or have you been practicing in my absence? My employer would be impressed, perhaps you’d even stand a chance against him now.”
Rex grunted, breaking the lock on their swords and stepping back, pointing the tip of his saber at Thresh. “Who is he? Your employer, what does he want with Ju’Lah?”
Thresh only sneered, forked tongue gliding across razor sharp teeth. “You’ll have to kill me to get that from me, boy.”
Thresh leapt forward again, swinging the blade towards Rex’s torso and narrowly missing as Rex jumped backwards, swinging the Darksaber forward again and slashing at Thresh’s arms. The Trandoshan snarled, locking their blades together and pushing Rex backwards, the smaller man straining to stay upright.
Again, Rex broke their lock, and Thresh stumbled, giving Rex the opportunity to swing the blade towards his back, narrowly missing as Thresh blocked, and Thresh cackled.
“You think you can beat him? You think you can protect the girl from him?” He demanded. “Look around you: The Empire will wipe you out, and when all that’s left is the girl, I’ll take her back to my employer, and I will be well-rewarded.” He grinned again. “And your wife, your sweet little baby, they’ll be mine.”
Rex roared, surging forward and swung three times, hammering his blade down towards Thresh and cracking it against the other man’s blade in rapid succession. Rex felt the blade begin to give, and he pressed forward, locking their blades once more and pushing back against Thresh.
“You… will never… come near my family.”
He twisted the Darksaber upwards, cutting Thresh’s blade cleanly in two as the hilt split down the middle, and Thresh cried out, falling backwards and grabbing his wrist. Rex panted, standing over the fallen Trandoshan and raising his sword again even as Thresh scooted backwards, one hand raised in surrender.
“Please.” Thresh began as Rex stepped forward. “Please, I – I was only working under Maul’s orders, he just wanted the girl. I’ll leave you in peace, I swear.”
“Maul? He’s your employer?” Rex shoved the Darksaber towards him again. “Tell me what he wants with Ju’Lah.”
“He – He thinks she’s powerful. More powerful than even him. He wants to make her his.” Thresh gasped, scrambling backwards again.
“What does that mean?” Rex demanded. “Answer me!”
“I don’t know!” Thresh wailed. “I don’t know, he just told me to bring him the girl, and if – if I couldn’t, he’d come get her himself.”
Rex’s heart thudded in his chest. “Maul’s coming here?”
Thresh whimpered, and raised his hands. “I’m just a man. It’s Maul you really want. I’m just a man.”
Rex snarled. “You’re a dead man.”
Rex brought the Darksaber down, cleanly severing Thresh’s head from his shoulders in one fell swoop.
He turned quickly, racing over to Howzer and dropping down beside him. “Can you move?”
Howzer was trembling all over, his color draining as he wheezed again. “Think – think I’m out of the fight, Captain.”
“Not yet you aren’t, come on, get up, we can get you back to the tunnels, we can -.”
Howzer tightened his grip on Rex, looking the other Captain in the eye.
“Get to the kid.” Howzer wheezed. “Maul… he’s after the kid. That’s – that’s what the lizard said, yeah? Get to the kid.” He whimpered slightly, squeezing his eyes shut as blood spattered across his lips. “Protect the kid.”
Howzer slumped backwards, his eyes open and unseeing as the breath left him, and Rex grit his teeth, grabbing the Darksaber tighter in hand as he brushed his fingers over Howzer’s cheek.
Maul. Maul was after Ju’Lah. Maul was coming here.
Rex’s jaw set, and he rose to his feet, turning and taking off once more.
~
Fives gasped as Maul flung him against the wall, the wind knocked out of him only to be cut off again as the Force choked him, Maul dragging him upright and keeping him pinned against the wall.
“Where is she?” He demanded, his fingers curling as the invisible cord tightened around Fives’ throat. Fives didn’t answer, his hands pawing uselessly at his throat as Maul growled, throwing him into the opposite wall instead and letting him crumble. Fives felt his bones break, black spots swimming in his vision as Maul scooped him up with the Force once more, dragging him upwards until he was several feet off the ground.
“I won’t ask again.” Maul warned, fingers tightening again. “Where. Is. The Girl?”
Fives answered with a wheeze. “Fuck you.”
Maul threw him again, headfirst this time, and Fives cracked his skull against the wall of the alleyway, landing in a heap on the ground as Maul stalked down the direction Ju’Lah had ran.
Back in the village, Ju’Lah kept running, rounding a corner and running straight into a squad of Stormtroopers. She gasped, stumbling backwards and quickly drawing her lightsaber.
“It’s a Jedi!” One shouted. “Blast her!”
Ju’Lah leapt upwards, scampering up the nearest building and running from rooftop to rooftop instead, deflecting blaster bolts as best she could.
She dropped low to the ground again, trying to sense her Buir through the carnage and find him. There was too much chaos, too much bloodshed and pain and suffering, she couldn’t find him through all the distractions. She had to get to him, had to bring him back to the tunnels or else –.
Blaster fire erupted behind her again as the stormtroopers caught up, and she ran once more, weaving between houses even as cannon fire from the dropships blew them up around her. She screamed, ducking around debris and narrowly missing being crushed as a house came down right beside her, and she stumbled, falling hard to the street, and knocking her lightsaber from her hand.
“It’s over, Jedi.” One of the stormtroopers barked out. “On my count!”
Ju’Lah reached out with the Force, calling her lightsaber back to her hand as she tried to stand, but she was too slow. She heard blaster fire, and when she turned around, the leader of the squad was dead.
“What the –?!” The stormtroopers turned, looking for the source of the bolts.
More blaster fire, and Ju’Lah saw a single bolt flip through several reflectors lined up on the walls of the remaining houses, each one striking through the remaining troopers with mathematical precision.
Crosshair stepped out of an alleyway, calmly collecting his reflectors from the trap he’d lain, inclining his gray helmeted head towards Ju’Lah.
“You shouldn’t be out here, Jedi.” He said, his voice dark and garbled within the helmet.
“I’m no Jedi.”
Crosshair chuckled, lifting his rifle. “Doesn’t look that way from where I’m standing.”
He jerked his rifle up, firing a shot directly over Ju’Lah’s head and blasting another trooper who’d just rounded the corner.
“Well?” Crosshair prompted. “Are you going to sit there until they eventually catch you, or are you going to come with me?”
Before Ju’Lah could speak, Crosshair continued.
“There’s an entrance to one of those tunnels not far from here. I’ve been firing on anyone who gets too close.” He drawled. “I would suggest you do what little creatures like you do best and… scuttle.”
“I need to find my Buir. It’s an emergency.”
“How touching.” He simpered. “Regrettably, I haven’t seen anything else that looks quite like you.” He jerked his rifle towards her massive ears. “A target that size wouldn’t slip by me that easily.”
“He’s a clone, his name is Gol’Chek.” Ju’Lah snapped. “He’s the man who rescued you.”
She could practically feel Crosshair’s scowl. “Then I guess this incident makes us even.” He replied. He jerked his head behind him. “I heard over the comms they were sending him to protect the southern border. I imagine that’s where you’ll find him… if they haven’t already destroyed it by now.”
Ju’Lah started to run past him, but Crosshair grabbed her roughly by the tunic, holding her in place for a beat. He shoved a small pistol into her hand.
“Don’t let them know what you are.” He warned. “Keep that thing sheathed unless you need it. Use this instead.”
“I’m no Jedi.” Ju’Lah bit back.
Crosshair chuckled, and repeated himself. “Not from where I’m standing.”
Ju’Lah took the pistol anyway, taking off towards the southern border of the village.
“Hey, hey Fives, come on, brother. Come on. Wake up. Please wake up. Wake up!”
Fives peeled his eyes open, the world tinted red from all the blood in his eyes. He blinked, trying to clear them, and a rough hand scrubbed over his face, clearing away some of the crusted-over blood.
“Look at me.” Echo’s voice rang through his head – damn, he had a headache, the mother of all headaches, in fact – and he felt two hands on his cheeks, squishing them tightly so his lips puckered up. “Eyes on me.”
He forced his eyes open again, suddenly aware of the white-hot agony rushing through his body. He made a soft sound, and Echo shushed him.
“Easy, easy, your leg’s broken, and I’d guess your ribs are shattered too from the looks of you.” Echo said. “Easy, we’re gonna get you underground. C’mon.”
“Ju’Lah.” Fives wheezed as Echo grabbed one of his arms, slinging it over his shoulder and hoisting him up. “He’s after Ju’Lah.”
“I know, we’re going after him, but we’ve gotta get you to safety first.” Echo continued. Distantly, Fives became aware of blaster fire, and could make out someone tall shooting out the sides of the alleyway.
“Is he alright?!” Quill’s voice demanded over the blaster fire. “Is he alive?!”
“He’s hurt, he needs help.” Echo called back, half-carrying Fives and coming up to Quill’s side. “You’ll have to cover us, he can’t walk on his own.”
Quill nodded, glancing over his shoulder at Fives and huffing a soft laugh. “This counts as one.”
“One what?” Fives mumbled, his head lolling against Echo’s shoulder as the wound on his scalp continued to bleed.
“One time I’ve saved your life today.” Quill replied with a small smirk. “My jacket looks good on you, by the way. Apart from the fact that you’re getting blood all over it.”
Fives huffed. “Could’a saved me sooner.” He grumbled. “Wouldn’t be so much blood.”
Quill only chuckled, firing back out into the alley again and turning over his shoulder to Fives and Echo. “Alright, we’re clear, we need to move.”
Ju’Lah didn’t make it far.
She made it to the town square, skidding to a halt in the open courtyard, her ears pricking up as she picked up sound directly ahead.
Once more, Maul stepped out of the shadows, crossing directly in front of her and blocking her path.
“Your friends are distracted with the soldiers.” Maul mused. “There is no one to interrupt us, now.”
Ju’Lah squared her shoulders, one hand on her lightsaber on her belt. “You’re the one who’s been hunting me.” She accused. “The bounties, Thresh’s mystery employer, all of it, it’s been you. Why?”
“I’d heard stories about your kind. Fables, really.” Maul said, walking in a slow circle while Ju’Lah circled him as well, keeping her hand on her blade. “Legends about Force-sensitive beings who the Sith believed posed a threat. So they wiped them out.”
Around them, it had begun to rain.
Maul bared his teeth, jagged points of yellow and black that made Ju’Lah’s stomach turn. “They sent my brother to eradicate your people, but he failed.” He inhaled slowly, spreading his arms towards her. “You survived. A child, the only survivor of such divine carnage. It was fate, destiny, that brought us together.”
“Your brother was a monster.” Ju’Lah bit back. “And so are you.”
“I am nothing like my brother.” Maul assured, taking a step towards Ju’Lah, and she drew her lightsaber at once, igniting it and pointing it squarely at Maul’s chest.
“Stay back!” She warned.
“Child, you misunderstand my intentions.” Maul replied. “I am not here to kill you. I wish to train you.”
Ju’Lah startled. “What?”
“A child with your power, your gifts,” he hissed. “Under my guidance, you could become one of the most powerful warriors the galaxy has ever known. Together, we could defeat the Empire, restore order to the Galaxy once and for all. Together, we could rule.”
Overhead, thunder began to rumble, dark clouds rolling in from the hillsides as the rain grew in intensity.
“You fear for your friends.” Maul mused, calling to her over the drone of the rain. “I have come here to aid you, child. I have struck down your invaders, and I will continue to fight them, to spare the ones you love. You need only join me.” He extended his hand. “Take my hand, apprentice.”
Ju’Lah stood her ground. “Never.”
Maul snarled. “You will come willingly, or you will come in pieces.” He warned. “And all your friends will die.”
Thunder boomed again, and Ju’Lah raised her voice.
“Your brother couldn’t kill my father. He was too powerful, and your brother was too weak.” She called to Maul across the courtyard. “Tell me, do you know what thunder means?”
Maul bared his teeth, but didn’t answer. Ju’Lah crouched low.
“It means my father is coming, so you better run.”
She grinned. “My father is what blooms in thunder.”
Ju’Lah leapt backwards as lightning shattered through the center of the courtyard, sending Maul flying back several feet. To the left, Gol’Chek stormed into the courtyard, radiating righteous fury as he gripped his staff tightly in one hand, slamming it against the ground and summoning another bolt of lightning, crashing into the earth near where Maul had landed.
The Sith Lord rose to his feet again, igniting his lightsaber and staring Gol’Chek down. “You are a clone.” He chuckled, looking Gol’Chek up and down. “I have slaughtered many men like you.”
“There are no men like me.”
Lightning crackled overhead as Gol’Chek sprinted forward, meeting Maul in the middle as staff clashed against blade, and the two men began to duel.
“The tunnels aren’t far from here.” Echo said, hoisting Fives a little higher as he half-dragged him through the clearing. “Fuck, is anyone still alive?”
“As soon as we get Fives underground, I’ll search for survivors.” Quill replied, looking around a corner before motioning Echo to follow.
“No offense, but you’re too big of a target to be skulking around looking for the rest of our people.” Echo said. “I’ll come back to the surface. Besides, Fives needs you.”
“He needs his brother.” Quill said sharply, glancing at Echo over his shoulder.
“Fives needs everyone to shut the fuck up.” Fives said, fumbling for his holster. “Where’s my karkin’ blaster?”
“You can’t even stand, what makes you think you can fight?” Echo asked, swatting at Fives’ hand and hauling him further over his shoulder to better support his weight. “Just focus on not bleeding out before we get you to the medics, will you?”
“Nobody’s answering their comms.” Quill said, his back pressed against a wall as he peeked around another corner. “Athena, Rex, Gol’Chek, Hunter, all the others, everyone’s gone quiet.”
“Maybe they’ve already made it underground.” Fives gritted out, spitting a bit of blood onto the ground as he spoke.
Echo shook his head. “Or maybe we’re the only ones left.”
Blaster fire surged around them, and all three men ducked behind debris once more as stormtroopers raced towards them from the opposite end of the street.
“Kriff, we’re pinned down!” Echo shouted, setting Fives down and poking his head above cover to return fire briefly. “Shit, there’s a whole kriffing platoon of ‘em!” He looked to Quill. “There’s too many, we have to run!”
“We can’t, Fives needs the medics.” Quill barked back. “Can’t imagine things are any better elsewhere. This is our shot.” He jerked his head to the left. “There’s a secret back entrance to the Command Center through that building. If we can get through the passageway, it’ll spit us out right in Athena’s office. We get to the control room from there, and we’ll find the entrance to the tunnels.”
“We can’t just make a run for it!” Echo shouted back, raising above cover to fire back a few more rounds before dropping down again. “They’ll kill us the second we step out of cover!”
“Echo’s right, and I’ll just slow you down.” Fives grunted, trying to push himself upright again. “We have – augh – we have to go back.”
“We can try to outflank them.” Echo tried.
“There are more coming up behind us.” Quill said sharply, peering back down the alley they’d run from, his tendrils flicking as he tasted the air around him. “This is our one chance. We take this, or we die.”
“We can’t.” Echo insisted. “We’ll never make it over there alive.”
Quill and Echo looked at one another. Both men seemed to reach the same conclusion, because Quill nodded at once, and pulled the other blaster from Echo’s hands, giving himself twice the firepower.
“You go on my signal.” Quill told him.
“What?” Fives wiped the blood from his eyes, peering up at Quill again. “What – what’re you doing?”
Quill grabbed Fives roughly by the cheeks, kissing him with all the passion he could manage. When he pulled away again, he grinned, teeth smeared slightly with Fives’ blood, and uttered only three words.
“Saved you twice.”
He turned to Echo. “NOW!”
Fives’ brain was moving too slowly. By the time his thoughts caught up with him, and he comprehended what Quill was doing, Echo was already halfway across the street with Fives thrown over his shoulder.
Back in the courtyard, Maul drove Gol’Chek backwards, forcing their weapons together as he bared down on him.
“You lost once against my brother, and I am far more powerful than he.” Maul sneered as their weapons locked. “What makes you think a clone could possibly defeat me?”
Gol’Chek ignored him, breaking their lock and swinging the staff around wide, aiming for Maul’s legs. Maul blocked, bringing the back end of his own blade around to swipe at Gol’Chek’s stomach. He dodged, jumping backwards and swung his staff down once more.
Ju’Lah stood several feet away, her lightsaber still ignited, hesitating near the edge of the courtyard. You still needed help back in the tunnels, and if Gol’Chek was preoccupied with Maul, she could be your only hope.
But she couldn’t abandon her Buir either.
The staff clashed with blade again, and Gol’Chek bared his teeth at the Zabrak, twisting out of the lock and flying backwards to dodge a counterstrike by Maul.
Ju’Lah surged forward, diving low while Gol’Chek attacked from up high, and Maul struggled to block both attacks at once. Ju’Lah was small and quick, and circled around behind him, forcing him to block and leaving him open to an attack from Gol’Chek in the front. Gol’Chek swung his staff around, striking Maul square in the chest with the blunt end before the Zabrak could twist away again.
Maul snarled, roaring as he lunged for Ju’Lah, and Gol’Chek threw his staff, planting it firmly in Maul’s path as lightning crackled from the sky and down through the staff, launching out towards Maul and sending him flying the opposite direction.
Gol’Chek called the staff back to his hand, and pointed it at Maul. “You stay away from her.” He growled.
“She will be mine,” Maul hissed, rising to his feet again. “One way or another.”
Gol’Chek squared himself firmly in front of Ju’Lah. “Over my dead body.”
Maul grinned. “So be it.”
“Go!” Gol’Chek shouted over his shoulder to Ju’Lah, blocking Maul as the Sith charged forward once again.
“I’m not leaving you!” Ju’Lah yelled back, diving forward again to strike at Maul’s legs while Gol’Chek went high, but Maul was prepared for the maneuver this time, and dropped his blade, instead using the Force to grab both Gol’Chek and Ju’Lah by the throat, dragging them upwards as they struggled. He flung them both into buildings on opposite sides of the courtyard. Gol’Chek caught himself, landing in a crouch and recalling his staff to his hands once more. Ju’Lah, however, cracked her head against the stone of the building and crumbled to the ground, her lightsaber falling from her hand.
Fives could hear his own heart beating in his ears. He could feel the ooze of the blood dripping down the sides of his face and blinding him as it fell in his eyes. He could feel his fingers in Echo’s shirt, could feel the strain of his body as he twisted backwards, tried to break free, to run back to Quill, but it was to no avail. Echo surged forward, dragging his injured brother along behind him.
Quill stood in the center of the carnage, a blaster in each hand as he fired on the stormtroopers moving to surround him. One moment he was there, a cyclone of blue and yellow, tendrils whipping with every turn of his head towards the invaders, and the next he was obscured by the wall of white armor bearing down on him.
Sound returned, time caught up, and Fives felt cool air woosh across his face as he and Echo crossed the threshold of the building, sprinting for the passageway.
“We have to go back!” Fives shouted, still futilely struggling to turn around in Echo’s grip. “Echo, they’ll kill him, we have to go BACK!”
“Stop fighting me and I’ll go back for him as soon as we get you somewhere safe!” Echo argued, hauling Fives forward again.
There was a loud whistling sound overhead, and Fives looked up, peering through the skylights on the roof of the building. He could do nothing but watch as the Imperial dropship above them fired down into the city, and he clung to his brother as fire rained down from the heavens upon them.
“Ju’Lah!” Gol’Chek turned towards her, but the child did not move. During his moment of distraction, Maul struck, catching him off guard and knocking the staff from his hands. Gol’Chek took several quick steps back, trying to dodge the swings of Maul’s blade as he called his staff back into his hand.
He managed to block Maul’s downswing just in the nick of time, and shouted Ju’Lah’s name over his shoulder once more.
“Enough of this!” Maul roared, using the Force to once again push Gol’Chek backwards. The warrior stumbled but caught himself, returning Maul’s push in kind with one of his own. The two men faced one another, each pushing with all their might against the other until they broke apart, both flying apart in opposite directions. Maul recovered first, lunging for his blade while Gol’Chek scrambled for the staff. Maul dove forward, swinging the blade down hard towards Gol’Chek’s exposed chest, and the warrior stopped it, but only barely as the Zabrak bared down harder upon him.
“You… are… beaten.” The Zabrak seethed, pushing down even harder until the red of his blade crackled only inches from Gol’Chek’s face. “Surrender, or die.”
Gol’Chek pushed back with all his strength, managing to get Maul off him only for the Sith to grab him with the Force once more, sending him sailing back into the wall and slumping down to the ground, his staff clattering from his grip.
Maul stepped closer, letting his own blade hang loosely at his side as he outstretched his free hand. “I tried to warn you, clone.” Maul hissed. “Now, you too will die.”
He summoned Gol’Chek’s staff, and the weapon flew gracefully from the ground towards Maul, only to be caught with the slap of palm meeting wood as a hand shot out to catch it.
Rex squared his shoulders, crossing the Darksaber over Gol’Chek’s staff as he stood between the fallen warrior and Maul.
“Sorry,” he called. “There’s still one more person you have to get through if you want the kid.”
Maul sneered, his eyes flickering to the Darksaber. “That does not belong to you.”
“If you want it back,” Rex growled. “You’ll have to come and get it.”
“I grow tired of these games.” Maul replied, rolling his head lazily. “I will make your death swift.”
Maul raced forward, and Rex crossed the staff and Darksaber in front of him in a block, twisting away from the red blade and striking down with the Darksaber while jabbing upwards with sharp end of the staff.
Behind him, Gol’Chek pushed himself back to his feet, running back towards the fighting. “Rex!”
Rex spun, tossing the staff into the air in time for Gol’Chek to catch it, and Gol’Chek soared downwards to strike Maul from above while Rex swiped low at his legs.
Below ground, you screamed in agony.
“Where is Ju’Lah and Gol’Chek?” Tech said over your shouts while Omega worked to hold your shoulders back.
“I don’t know, they should’ve been back by now!” Soteria shouted back.
“We aren’t left with much of a choice, we’re going to lose both mother and child if we don’t deliver soon.” Tech warned. “I’m starting the procedure now.”
“No, there’s nobody here to heal her if we do something wrong!” Soteria protested. “We have to wait for Gol’Chek!”
“There’s no time!” Tech snapped back, his composure slipping slightly. “We have a shot at saving them both, but every minute we wait, that’s one more minute the fetus goes without oxygen.”
“Get him out!” You shouted, grabbing ahold of Soteria’s arm. Your face was streaked with tears and sweat, and your grip was like a vice. “You promised.”
Soteria hesitated, looking between you and Tech before glancing back to you. “Okay.” She conceded, nodding to Tech. “Let’s do it.”
“Omega, try to hold her as still as possible. I’m going to numb her as much as I’m able with the supplies we have.” Tech ordered, and looked down at you. “Ma’am, I suggest you bite down on something.”
Maul shrieked in rage, swinging his lightsaber and narrowly missing decapitating Gol’Chek, who ducked aside at the last moment. Rex circled around behind Maul while Gol’Chek continued to occupy his front. Meanwhile, Ju’Lah slowly regained consciousness, shaking her head as she slowly pushed herself back up to her hands and knees. She looked out towards the fighting, blinking to try and clear her vision.
“Buir?”
Gol’Chek’s head snapped towards her, and that moment of distraction was all Maul needed.
In an instant, Maul had swept his blade cleanly through Gol’Chek’s thighs, severing his legs from his body and used the Force to push him backwards against the outskirts of the courtyard.
“Buir!” Ju’Lah screamed, scrambling to her feet and racing over to Gol’Chek. She only made it a few steps before Maul caught her with the Force, starting to choke her, but he broke his concentration when Rex roared from behind him, swinging the Darksaber down towards him again.
Ju’Lah scrambled back to her feet, coughing slightly as she stumbled over to Gol’Chek, tripping over debris and ash that crusted their village. “Buir! Buir please wake up! Wake up!”
Rex and Maul continued to duel, Rex’s blocks becoming weaker while Maul’s attacks grew stronger. All it took was a stumble. One misstep, where Rex raised his sword too high, and left his face vulnerable. Maul thrust the hilt of his blade forward, popping Rex in the face. The stun was enough.
Maul turned, plunging the blade of his lightsaber through Rex’s abdomen.
“NO!”
Ju’Lah’s scream echoed through the village, and far, far below ground, your screams had finally fallen silent.
Your breath was coming in ragged gasps, slumped backwards against Soteria. The medic was patting your face, her voice coming to you in warbled utterances as her face swam in clarity before you.
“Stay with me. Stay with me.”
The last thing you heard was the sound of an infant crying.

A warm sea breeze lazily drifts over the beach club as sun beams lightly kiss the skin of vacationers and employees. Cheers and shouts from the shoreline harmonize with the ocean’s rolling waves as children splash around in the crystal blue waters. Parents sit under umbrellas with blankets and coolers of snacks while they keep a careful eye on their kids as they enjoy a moment of relaxation. Other patrons chat excitedly as they wander around the cabanas and different restaurants on the property.
Arching your back with a satisfied hum, you sink further into your lounge chair. Although your movement is limited with the weight of your lover’s body resting on your chest. Rex’s sleeping expression pinches at your movement, and his arms tighten around your waist.
“Where do you think you’re going,” he asks. His voice thick with sleep now rumbles against your skin with its low vibrato that sends shivers through you.
You peer down at him over your sunnies with an amused expression. “No where, I promise. I was, however, trying to get more comfortable, but it seems like someone’s more concerned about their afternoon nap,” you lightly tease. Rex presses his face into the crook of your neck and groans, which pulls a melodious laugh from you.
The two of you were granted an extended leave after the most recent battle. Without a second thought, Rex started to pack both your bags as he muttered under his breath about everything his commanding officers and brothers put him through with the latest so called plan. As he flew across your room looking for your favorite outfits, you quickly reserved a private cabana for the two of you to hide away and enjoy from prying eyes. Neither of you want to lift a single finger, and both of you made a secret promise to make sure the other didn’t as well.
Rex has never thought too much of what his future would be. The sensitive heart that makes it home in his chest shies away from false hope. After losing so many brothers and close friends, Rex isn’t sure he could survive even one more crack in his tattered heart. Yet when he pulls away from your soft skin, he melts when he meets your adoring expression. Late afternoon sunlight frames you in a breathtaking glow that makes Rex fall in love with you all over again. Only this time it feels like the air is knocked out of him, and Rex falls harder for you. “What would you like to do, hm?” Rex asks as one of his arms slips from your waist and cups your cheek.
Even with the summer heat, you alway find comfort in Rex’s warmth. Leaning into his palm, your eyes flutter shut for a moment as you hum in thought. “How about dinner and drinks? Been here all morning, and we forgot to bring a cooler and our beach bag today,” you muse out loud and look at him once more. Your mind finally slows into a languid peaceful bliss after half a month disconnected from the rest of the galaxy. Never in a rush to get from place to place as you focus on enjoying the taste of normalcy with your riduur.
“Then dinner and drinks, we will find,” Rex agrees with a groan as he pulls away from you. Slipping off the lounge chair, Rex stretches his arms above his head. When he opens his eyes to catch you unabashedly checking him out, Rex’s cheeks blush a deeper red from the already existing sun kiss to his cheeks. “Alright, enough of that. There’ll be plenty of time for whatever daydream you’ve come up with later,” Rex rushes to try and tame the butterflies soaring in a flurry within his stomach. He dips down and loops on arm under your knees as the other rests on your lower back.
As Rex pulls you up to his chest, your chest sears with excited nerves as laughter falls from your lips. “Rex,” you cry out in giddy disbelief. Wrapping your arms around his neck, you rest your head on his shoulder while he begins to walk towards your favorite of the club restaurants. “Please, don’t drop me,” you breathe out. You trust Rex implicitly, but the lingering nerves make you press closer to him.
Rex glances down at you with a soft expression. “I will never drop you, cyar’ika. I’m always going to be there to catch you,” he promises you. Something squeezes at his lungs when you look up at him in utter adoration, and Rex swears to himself that he will always try to keep that expression on your face. Wholly devoted to your wellbeing and happiness, Rex has never felt more at home than he has in this moment.

In His Image (Captain Rex x Fem!Reader)
Tumblr media
Part 1: Onderon
Summary: Steela hires you to deliver some weapons to her band of freedom fighters on Onderon. You stay to help Captain Rex train the rebels. You're chemistry with the Captain is stronger than you anticipated.
Warnings: SMUT! Unprotected PIV, oral(both male and female), mentions of previous relationship, first time, it's kinda romantic I can't help myself.
“Incoming transmission.” The robotic voice from the dash rang. “Put it through.” You commanded. A dark-skinned young woman appeared on the hologram. “Patching through our coordinates now.” She said pressing a button. “Got it, I should be there within the hour.” You said entering the coordinates into your navicomputer.
Onderon. You’d only been here once for emergency repairs. Now you are back to smuggle in weapons for some freedom fighters. Separatists have laid claim to the planet. Many like them were forced to turn to mercenaries like you. Before the war you would have never taken a low paying job like this. Now, it’s all you do.
Once you land you grab what crates you can and start unloading them. “There’s more in the cargo hold.” You tell one of the men standing next to the woman who hired you. “I hope the trip was smooth? I’m Steela by the way.” She extended a hand to shake. You gave her a firm grip. “How many people do you have here?” You asked looking around. It wasn’t a bad operation. Small, but each face you saw looked determined. “There are only about 30 of us, but more join each day. Just last week Lux Bontari joined our cause.” She motioned towards a young-looking man. Still looks like a teenager. He has confidence though. You nod then return your attention to Steela.
“I know we only asked that you bring us weapons, but I was hoping you could stay and assist. We could really use the help. We can compensate you for your time. You look around, normally you’d say no and take your credits. But this war has made you soft. “Show me what you’re up against first.” You say reluctantly. Steela leads you to their command center, if you can call it that. “Is this the mercenary? She doesn’t look so tough.” A tall-dark man scoffs, crossing his arms. “Don’t be so quick to judge, you’re the ones who asked for my help. Don’t forget that.” You bite back. “Saw, save it for the droids.” Steela said punching him in the arm. Steela and Saw fill you in on the situation. You aren’t sure this is possible. The city is well fortified with massive amounts of droids. “You need more bodies. The odds are against you right now. Have you already reached out to the Republic for assistance?” You inquire. “Yes, and they refuse to assist us. They said since our false leader sided with the Separatists, there’s nothing they can do.” Saw said with anger.
“I see.” You sigh. “I have an idea.” Said Lux Bontari stepping forward. “I know a Jedi who might be able to help us. She’s broken some rules before. Maybe she can do it again.” He stated rubbing his chin. “It’s worth a shot.” Steela chimed in. You sat back while Lux and Saw made the call. You don’t really care for Jedi. They are pretentious and arrogant “saviors.” You’d considered working for the separatists due to this fact. You’d be paid handsomely. However, the memory of a.. friend, kept you from harming GAR soldiers.
You recognized one of the Jedi on the projection. Mace Windu. Your heart grew dark with anger and resentment. Luckily, he would not be joining the three Jedi coming to assist. The transmission ended and you stood up. “They should be able to help you more than I can. I’ll take my payment for the weapons and be on my way.” You say wanting to get out of there before you have to deal with any Jedi. “Well- Um- your payment is behind the city walls. The rightful ruler will be able to provide the credits.” Steela nervously said. Her feet were shuffling and she wouldn’t look at you.
“Are you karking kidding me?” You bark. This is why it’s risky taking jobs from desperate people. The Seps would give you payment upfront. “Fine, I’ll stay to collect my payment. But if your leader doesn’t pay up..” you start pointing a finger in her face. “She said he would pay you.” Saw griped grabbing your hand. It took a lot of restraint on your part to not lay him out right here. “Fine.” You sneered ripping your hand from his grip.
It was getting late; you head back to your ship to rest for the night. You had a difficult time sleeping. You tossed and turned all night. You woke up in a sweat, dreaming about him. It’s been a while since that’s happened. You wish you could move on, but you saw his face almost everywhere you went.
Once the sun comes up, you leave your ship and join the band of rebels for breakfast. Steela left to get the Jedi and lead them back to camp. Until they return, you start showing Saw how the new weapons you brought work. He was eager to learn, but he was also wreckless. There was a rage inside of him, begging to be unleashed. You understood the feeling.
Steela comes back with four figures following behind her. Your eyes widen as you see the familiar face. You attempt to shake it off. It’s not him. He’s just another clone. Seeing a clone without a helmet on threw you off your game. You were only expecting Jedi. Gods he walks just like him. ‘Stop it’ you think to yourself. He’s not Jango Fett. You just stare at him, until you’re shaken from your haze as a Jedi speaks. “At your service, this is General Kenobi, Commander Tano, and Captain Rex.” General Skywalker said introducing everyone. Rex’s eyes wander over to yours and you look down.
Focus. You’re here to do a job. “And this is Y/N. She brought us weapons and has, uh, offered to stay and help us.” Steela tells the Jedi. “What she means is, they can’t pay me for the weapons until their King is freed.” You say folding your arms across your chest. “But that shouldn’t be a problem now that we have you here.” You say looking at Kenobi. “We are not here to fight this war for you, but we will train and help with what we can.” Obi Wan replied. “You came all this way to teach lessons? I can do that.” You scoff.
“We have a great deal of experience dealing with droids. I think that’s quite different from weapon drops and bounty hunting.” Skywalker said in a snarky tone. “Well considering your army came from one of the most skilled bounty hunters in the galaxy, I’d say I’m fit for the task.” You hiss, not breaking eye contact with the jedi.
“Hey, hey come on. We’re supposed to be on the same side here!” Steela interjected. “Yes, you’re right. And we have much to go over.” Kenobi agreed stroking his beard. You all gathered together as the Jedi and Rex took point. They brought some weapons that will only effect droids. Over the next few days, you and Rex train the rookies. The Captain was skilled. A natural leader and warrior. You know he was bred for this, but it still impressed you. Rex seemed equally impressed with your own skills as well.
Watching the rebels try to get past droidika shields was painful. Your face grimaced each time they failed. “Think you can do better?” Rex smirked handing you a ‘droid popper’. You roll your eyes and take it. Without moving from your spot, you carefully toss the device perfectly in place. “Hm, well done.” He said trying to hide his surprise. You blush from the compliment. Turning your face so he can’t see. You’ve interacted with other clones before. But Rex was different. He was so similar to Fett, but eons apart at the same time.
The relationship you had with Jango was.. complicated. You’d worked together on a couple of contracts and whenever the two of you were in the same place, you’d hook up to let off some steam. To Jango, that’s all it was. Colleagues with benefits. But you started developing feelings for the bounty hunter. You didn’t dare tell him, fearing he’d cut ties with you. It never would have worked anyway. His heart already belonged to someone else. His son Boba. He loved that boy more than anything in the galaxy. Boba never really liked you though. You could never figure out why.
“So, you think they’re ready?” Rex asks. You sigh and bite the inside of your lip. “No, but you’ve trained them well with the time given.” You say looking up at him. “We. We trained them well.” Rex smiled looking down at you. You chuckle, “Yeah, I guess we do make a good team captain.” You nudge him in the side. You felt so comfortable around him. His company made the presence of the jedi tolerable.
Over the next few weeks, you and Rex carefully train and watch as the rebels execute small attacks in the city. After each one, the both of you give compliments and critiques to help them improve. The two of you are almost inseparable. You work together so perfectly. You’re almost always on the same page when it comes to tactics and planning.
After a particularly difficult day, you’re feeling a little burned out and need some rest. You don’t want anyone to see you like this. Especially Rex, so while everyone goes to eat, you break away from the crowd. You feel a hand on your shoulder. “Are you not hungry?” You turn around to see Rex. “No, I’m okay. I just have some things I need to take care of.” You softly smile and point back to your ship. “I can bring you something if you’d like.” Rex said with kind eyes. “You’re nothing like him you know.” You say shaking your head. “Sorry ma’am?” Rex asked furrowing his brows. “Jango Fett. You look and sound just like him, but you.. You're just different.” You say looking into his confused eyes. “Oh-uh- I’m sorry.” He rubbed the back of his neck, looking down at his feet. “Don’t be.. it’s a nice contrast.”
You squeeze his arm. He feels so good. Even through the thick fabric of his sleeve. “If you get bored spending time with the Jedi, feel free to join me.” You smirk. “Yes ma’am.” Rex grins and nods. You turn around and make your way to the ship.
About 15 minutes pass when you hear footsteps coming up the loading ramp. “You got bored quickly.” You giggle. “Well, I spend most of my time with the General and commander. I figured I’d spend some time with someone who has new stories.” Rex replied holding two plates in his hands. “I brought you some food just in case you got hungry.” He gently placed the plates down on the counter. How is it possible for someone who has only known war and death his entire life be this thoughtful?
“Thanks Rex.” You got up and leaned against the counter while you took a few bites. “Ugh, I should have brought them some spices to add to this mush instead of weapons.” You laugh covering your mouth. “Food is food, right?” Rex shrugged taking a bite. “No, it’s not. Have you ever had a jogan fruit cake?” You ask placing a hand on your hip. “No, I pretty much have the same thing every day. So, this is actually a nice change for me.” He said looking a little embarrassed at his lack of life experience.
“Well.. I’m sure your taste buds would appreciate something more sweet every once in a while.” You reach into a compartment above the counter and pull out a piece of candy. You break it in half, placing one piece in your mouth and hold up the other one to Rex’s lips. “Come on, you’ll love it.” You smirk enticing him. He blushes and opens his mouth so you can place the other half on his tongue. Your finger grazes his lower lip as you pull away.
“Well, what do you think?” You ask brushing some dust off his collar. “It’s.. Kandosii’la.” His eyes brighten from the new taste. “Is that a good thing?” You ask raising an eyebrow. He chuckles as he moves the candy over his tongue. “Yes, it’s amazing.”
“Well, if you’re ever craving something sweet, you know where to find me.” You say biting your lip. “What if.. I’m craving it now?” Rex uttered, cheeks flush. You look up at him and move in a little closer. You can see him starting to sweat. “I-I mean..” He tried to back pedal, but you both knew what he meant. You stood on your toes and kissed his lips. You slip your tongue into his mouth and run it along his. You can feel the heat of his cheeks radiating on to your skin. Rex is not returning the kiss and is still. You pull back thinking you may have misread the situation. You look into his wide eyes. “I’m so sorry, I thought…” You're cut off as he carefully places his hands around your waist and clumsily crashes his lips into yours. He’s trembling. You feel his fingers wanting to dig into your skin, but he’s scared of hurting you.
You start to plant kisses along his jaw line. Taking your time, savoring his scent and taste. Rex lets out a sharp exhale and his hands squeeze your waist tightly. “Don’t be nervous, the jedi aren’t here. No one will see us.” You whisper in his ear, thinking that’s what’s making him so tentative and anxious. “I-I know.. I’ve just never-um-.” His words get caught in this throat as he plays with the hem your shirt. You pull back and caress his cheek. His pupils are blown out, you can barely see the golden flecks in his iris’s. “Is this your first time?” You ask sweetly. “Yes.” Rex confesses looking down. You aren’t necessarily surprised. Since clones age twice the rate of normal men, Rex was technically about 12 years old. Biologically, mentally, and emotionally he was 22-23.
Most clones have their first sexual experience during their first military leave. There’s plenty of ‘Clone chasers’ waiting for them at R&R hotspots. They aren’t ignorant about sex or unaware. Just like the rest of the Grand Republic education programs, sex and procreation are reviewed in class. The majority of beings reproduced the same way. Genitalia just might look different or be located elsewhere for some species.
You trace your thumb along Rex’s lower lip. “Are you sure you’re ready?” You ask wanting to make sure he’s comfortable. “Yes.” He proclaimed with confidence, pulling you closer to him. “Come on.” You smirk grabbing his hand, leading him to your bed. You guide him to sit on the edge, while you straddle him. Now you can feel just how hard he is. You let out a moan and your eyes flutter at the feeling. You grind your hips against him creating some friction to relieve the growing ache. “Kriff.” Rex grunted closing his eyes tightly, burying his face in your chest. You remove his cap, revealing the bleach blonde buzz cut. You giggle and rub your hands over the soft fuzz. “This is a good look for you.” You compliment as he looks up at you. “I’m glad you like it.” He smiles and squeezes your ass. Making you bite your lip.
He moves his hands along your back and waist admiring your beauty. You help him remove his chest plate and shirt. He has a blaster scar on his chest. You trace your fingertips along the raised marks. You make a mental note to ask him about that story later. You push his shoulders, forcing him to lay on his back. You get up and start to unbuckle his pants. You pull them down freeing what you desperately wanted to see. Gods, he was harder than beskar. You wrap your hand around his shaft. You wondered if the Kaminoins cloned Jango exactly the way he was, and they sure did. The familiar size and shape filled your core with excitement. Jango was the best you ever had. Rex may be lacking experience, but he certainly has the same arsenal Fett did.
You felt a little guilty thinking about another man at a time like this, but it was difficult when they looked and felt the same. Though, Rex did make your heart feel lighter. Rex was soft. Even the look of lust in his eyes were mixed with adoration and wonder. Something you’d never experienced with his host. You slowly re-familiarize yourself with the member in your hand. Gently running your thumb over the slit leaking precum. You lick your lips, then get down between his legs. Rex propped himself up on his elbows, not wanting to miss anything. You start taking him in your warm, wet mouth. You felt his cock twitch on your tongue. Rex’s eyes rolled back and he let out a pleasured moan, clenching his fists.
You swirl your tongue around the sensitive tip. You know he’s not going to last long. You decide that it’s probably best to make him cum once before actually fucking him. That way you can both enjoy his first time.
You start bobbing your head up and down. He’s breathing heavily, trying so hard to keep his composure. “Mesh’la. I-I..” He starts to reach down to stop you, he doesn’t want to cum so soon. But you swat his hands away and make eye contact. Your mouth full, tears pricking your eyes as you take him further down. Rex tenderly placed his trembling palms on the top of your head, holding you still as warm ropes of his pleasure coat your mouth. The most delectable moans left his lips. You drink up every last drop. Pushing him to the edge of overstimulation.
While Rex lays back down, trying to catch his breath; you take his boots off and slide his pants all the way off. Then you remove your clothing, leaving you in just your panties. Rex sits up and stares at the alluring site before him. He slinks to the floor resting on his knees. He aggressively pulls your body towards him and he trails kisses along your belly, over your panties, and down your thighs. He takes a moment to inhale your scent then looks up at you. His gaze takes your breath away. It’s as if he’s peering into your very soul.
He trails his fingers all along your body. Wanting to study each curve, bump, and scar. “You’re exactly who I’ve been waiting for Cyar’ika.” He whispers into your skin. The words and heat of his breath make you quiver. Your belly fills with thrilling warmth. His fingertips make their way to your wanting slit. The thin lace keeping the two of you apart is driving you mad. Rex can feel your arousal wet his fingers. You moan and place your hands on his head. Lightly dragging your nails across his scalp. He wraps his strong arms around your legs and stands up, forcing you to rest your stomach on his shoulder. He gently lays you on the bed. Cradling your head as he rests it on your pillow. You pull him down and kiss him as if you need his breath to survive.
You can feel him getting hard again as he brushes up against your thigh. He runs his hand down your navel teasing the sensitive skin between your legs. You’re spread wide open for him. “I want to taste you.” Rex whispers as he kisses your neck. He gets in position and slides your panties down. The cool air hitting your wet pussy makes you shiver. “Mesh’la.” Rex moaned before kissing your warm cunt then licking his lips. “Gar isirir bid gate.” You knew enough Mando’a to know ‘gate’ meant good. He sloppily ran his tongue through your folds. He quickly learned where your clit was because each time his wet muscle passed it, you twitched. He was a fast learner. Rex memorized each part of you as if you were his next mission.
His fingers started digging into the soft flesh of your thighs. He was hungry and the only thing that could satiate him was your orgasm. You started writhing under him. He groaned and slipped his tongue inside your tight hole, making you arch your back and grip the sheets. While tasting your insides he started to circle your swollen bud with his fingers. You let out a cry as he was pressing a little to hard, but it felt so good. He eased up a little, but kept the perfect pace. You started bucking your hips, but he held you down firmly. He was a natural. You grab his hand and lace your fingers with his, squeezing tightly. It only made him go faster. You were blinded by the sensation. “ReeeexxaaAAhHhhH!” Your legs closed around his head as you came. You could feel the vibrations from him groaning, making your elation last just that much longer.
As you came down from your high, you released Rex from your grip. Panting as if you just out ran some rathtars. Rex got up and climbed on top of you. Kissing your soft, pink lips. His chin was shiny from your slick. You did taste good. “Was that okay?” He was genuinely asking as if he didn’t just see you fall apart around him. You lick his chin to clean up your mess then kiss his lips. “It was bliss.” You shift a little to open your legs more. Planting your heels behind his knees. “Now, I want to feel that perfect cock inside me.” You didn’t just want it, you needed it.
He lined himself up with your entrance. He slowly started to push in. He grunted as if the wind was just knocked out if him. He pushed the next few inches in quickly and you gasped. He pulled out. “Kriff, did I hurt you? I-I’m so sor-“ You kiss him, then bite his lower lip. “Don’t pull out again until you’re finished.” You demand. It was almost a growl. Your words made him freeze for half a second. “Yes ma’am.” He grinned. He resumed sliding back into your weeping slit. About half way in, you moan and clench your walls around his thick member. His face contorted in the most delightful way as he closed his eyes tightly and hissed in a deep breath through a clenched jaw. “Give me everything Rex.” You beg, trying to force him deeper inside you.
Rex shoved himself in, balls deep. He let out a sound you could only describe as primal. He rested his head in the crook of your neck as he left himself inside of you. “Fuck me Rex, Gods, please fuck me!” You plead grinding your hips, fighting the urge to cut your nails into his back. He starts to thrust in and out of you rapidly. He hits your cervix over and over again making you scream in ecstasy. “Nnnuuuhhhhhh!” Rex roars, as he pounds you ferociously.
Your vision starts to blur from the tears in your eyes. Your legs begin to violently shake as you convulse under Rex’s strong, sculpted body. You murmur nonsense as he fucks the force out of you. “Please cum Cyar’ika. I need you to cum.” Rex grunts as he starts to shudder as well. You sob so loudly that the sound reverberates off the walls. Your pleasure spills all over his cock and balls. Soaking the sheets below you. Rex couldn’t resist following his instincts. He thrust deep inside your pulsing cunt and growls as he unleashes his gratification, painting your insides with his seed.
Rex rolls over pulling you on top of him, keeping himself inside. You rest your head on his chest and listen to his strong heartbeat. The slowing tempo is soothing. You were burning up from the act and his body heat, but you didn’t want to leave his touch. You just let your sweat pool with his. His rhythmic breathing and the gentle circles he’s tracing on your back almost puts you to sleep. “Will you stay the night?” You ask, keeping your head on his chest. “If that’s what you want cyar’ika.” Rex hums, kissing the top of your head.

The meal in the great hall was simple, just bread and vegetable soup, but after the ordeal you’d been through, it tasted like the food of gods.
You and Rex took turns eating, carefully swapping Calder between you and being cautious not to wake him as you both hungrily ate your fill.
“He’s got to be starving.” You fretted, looking down at the boy when Rex took his turn holding him.
“He’ll be alright for a bit longer, he’s still sleeping.” Rex replied. “Eat.”
“I guess it’s a blessing that loud noises don’t bother him.” You said over the chatter in the great hall. “I don’t think an ordinary baby could sleep through this.”
Rex hummed, nodding in agreement and taking another bite of his own stew, balancing Calder in his other arm.
You glanced further down the table, spotting Fives with Athena and Kiran. Fives had Kiran on his lap, and he was trying to spoon stew into his mouth while Kiran adamantly refused it. Athena just stared blankly down into her bowl, exhaustion coating her features.
“Do you have Calder for a bit?” You asked Rex.
The Captain nodded, glancing up at you as you stood, heading further down the table to check on Fives and Athena.
“-to eat, buddy.” Fives coaxed. “Please, just a little bit.”
“I don’t wanna.” Kiran mumbled, rubbing at his eyes. “I’m tired.”
“I know, but you haven’t eaten all day.” Fives said quietly. “Just a little, for me?”
“Do you want me to take him for a bit?” You offered, putting a hand on Fives’ shoulder.
“You’ve got your hands full as it is.” Fives replied gruffly, shrugging you off.
“So do you.” You replied. “Fives, let me help you.”
“I don’t want your pity.” Fives finally turned to look at you, a familiar fire behind his eyes. You frowned, but retreated, giving Athena a sympathetic look that she didn’t return. She barely even acknowledged you.
When you and Rex finished eating, you trudged sleepily to the living quarters in the mines. There were several small rooms built into the mineshafts, each one holding a bed, a small nightstand, and a chest for personal effects. The one you and Rex had been placed in also had a small floating pram for Calder stationed next to the bed.
“That was kind of them.” Rex said of the pram, running his fingers over it absently while you shut the makeshift door behind you. The room was very small, cramped enough that you and Rex had to step around each other to move, but you were both too exhausted to care. It was safe, it was warm, and it wasn’t infested with Imperials.
“I grabbed some clothes for you, along with some baby clothes we’d saved for Calder.” Rex said, shrugging his pack off his shoulder and fumbling through it. “Though, he’s so small, I’m not sure anything will fit him, yet.”
As if on cue, there was a soft knock at the door. Rex paused, opening it cautiously. In the doorway stood another armored Mandalorian, though this one was considerably shorter than the others you’d seen.
“Hello,” a young girl’s modulated voice echoed through the helmet. It seemed big on her. “We gathered some supplies for you, for your infant. We hope it’ll do for now. Mother Kitsu sends her regards.” She offered Rex a large bag. Rex took it slowly, peeking inside. Cloth diapers, clothing, a bottle, and other things filled the bag to the brim.
Rex swallowed past the growing lump in his throat. “Thank you.”
The girl nodded once, and turned abruptly, wandering away back down into the catacombs of the living quarters.
Rex shut the door again, immediately getting one of the diapers and a little grey onesie out of the bag, motioning for Calder. You swapped him, instead going through the bag while Rex dressed his son for the first time. You watched him out of the corner of your eye as the baby started to fuss.
“Shh, it’s alright Calder.” Rex said aloud, and then corrected himself, pressing a finger to his lips in a shushing motion, and then signing “It’s okay, I love you.”
Calder only cried louder, and Rex finished dressing him quickly, passing him back to you. “He’s probably hungry.”
You nodded, taking him at once while Rex resumed pawing through the bag of supplies and his own pack, carefully unloading things into the chest at the foot of your bed. Calder quieted down once he began to eat, and you stroked his cheek gently, exhaustion creeping through your body as your wound from his birth began to ache all over again.
Rex paused where he was unpacking the two bags, holding up a small stuffed tooka with royal blue and purple patchwork. “Look at this.”
“Give it here.” You said as Calder finished eating. You adjusted your clothing, burping him and then cradling him gently in your arms, taking the tooka from Rex. “Look, Calder.” You cooed, holding the tooka where he could see it. “Look at what Daddy found for you.”
Calder blinked sleepily up at the tooka, one of his little hands grabbing onto its ear and squeezing tightly. Rex chuckled, looking at him over your shoulder.
“I love you.” Rex signed to him, then repeated the motion, this time bringing his hand to his forehead first. “Daddy loves you.”
You smiled, tilting your head up to kiss Rex, leaning back against him. “Do you want to hold him for a bit?”
“Of course.” Rex said immediately, already reaching for him. He paused for a moment, drawing his hands back and instead quickly taking his shirt off. “I read that skin-to-skin contact is better for a baby.” He said, eagerly reaching for Calder again. You carefully passed Calder over, and Rex immediately leaned back on the bed, letting Calder lay against his chest.
“That’s it.” Rex soothed, stroking his hands down Calder’s back. “That’s it, little one. I’ve got you.”
You smiled, shifting to the other side of the bed and propping yourself up on one arm, watching as Rex held Calder.
“Do you want to try signing to him?” Rex asked, tilting his head back to look at you.
“I don’t know any other than what you showed me this morning.”
“This one is Mama.” Rex brought his thumb to rest against his chin, his fingers splayed out in a five. “You can say ‘Mama loves you’ now.”
You hesitated, not wanting to make a mistake, but you cautiously scooted to where Calder could see you. You waited for his soft brown eyes to land on you, wide with curiosity, and you smiled.
“Mama loves you.” You signed, making sure to go slow so he could see each movement. He watched your fingers dance, smacking his little lips together before he turned his face into Rex’s chest, his tiny hands balling up into fists.
“I don’t think he liked it very much.” You said, lowering your hand.
“He’s just not used to anything yet. He’s learning.” Rex replied with a chuckle. “Calder. My sweet boy, can you look at Daddy?” Rex sat up, shifting his grip so Calder was in the crook of his arm, and he signed again. “Mama loves you. Daddy loves you.”
“We need to practice more.” You said, brushing your fingers over Calder’s head as he yawned.
“We will.” Rex promised, booping Calder’s nose with one finger. “Give him time. He’s still so little.”
“I know.” You said softly. “I’m just… I want him to be able to understand us.”
“He will. We just need to give him time.” Rex repeated, bringing Calder close and kissing his forehead, then both his chubby cheeks. “We’ll be alright.”
You smiled, tucking your head against Rex’s shoulder and watching your son on his chest.
“Yeah.” You whispered back. “We’ll be alright.”
~
Fives, Athena, and Kiran had all been assigned to one room, and the three of them trudged back to it after trying to eat. None of them could stomach much food, and Kiran kept nodding off over his bowl.
Now, Fives carried the child in his arms while Athena led the way down the hall, guiding them to their room.
“This is the one.” She mumbled, pushing the door open and stepping inside. There was a bed and a small rollaway cot in the center of the room, with the same small nightstand and chest that outfitted all the rooms in the living quarters.
“Must be pretty cramped if they’re bunking people together.” Athena commented. She glanced up at Fives. “Are you okay to stay here? I can ask -.”
“’s fine.” Fives muttered, scooting past her to put Kiran on the cot. The toddler didn’t stir, and Fives tucked him in gently, brushing his hair out of the child’s eyes for a moment before straightening back up. “You think they’ve got ‘freshers down here?”
“I heard them saying something about it being at the end of the hallway.” Athena replied. “I guess each hall has its own designated refresher block.”
Fives scrubbed his hands over his face, dragging his hands slowly down his cheeks. “I think I’m gonna shower.” He mumbled around his hands. “I’ve still got – kriff it all, I’ve got his blood under my fingernails.”
“I’ve got a change of clothes for you.” Athena offered. “The Mandalorians, they gave us some clothes.”
Fives thanked her quietly, taking the clothes and straightening back up. “You and Kiran okay here for a bit?”
She nodded, rubbing Kiran’s back as he slept. “Go.” She told him gently. “We’ll be here when you’re ready.”
Fives tapped his knuckles against the door for a moment, inhaling slowly before at last stepping out into the hallway.
The refreshers weren’t hard to find. Athena had been right, a shower block had been set up at the end of each row of rooms, and Fives found his way quickly into one of the stalls. The water ran cold for several minutes before finally becoming moderately lukewarm, but Fives barely cared. He stood under the spray, the cool water easing some of the burn from his still-injured leg. The bacta and salves the Mandalorians had given him acted quickly, and Fives moved only with a slight limp, cautious of putting weight on the injured leg.
He closed his eyes, letting the water roll down his face as he scrubbed at his skin, trying to erase any traces of Quill’s blood from his body. He scraped at the undersides of his fingernails, watching as swirls of copper dripped off him and vanished down the drain. Was it his blood? Was it Quill’s? He’d bled so much himself, it was difficult to tell.
The water shut off on its own, and Fives sighed softly. He should’ve known the water would be rationed in a place like this. He’d gotten complacent, spoiled by the unlimited water at Quill’s home on Dantooine. He missed the water.
He stood there for several minutes, until his skin was covered in gooseflesh and his body had begun to tremble from the cool bite of the mine’s air filtration system. He ran his shaking hands through his hair, his fingers catching on the tangles and knots at the ends where it was growing longer.
Reluctantly, Fives finally stepped out of the refresher, dressing and glancing at the mirror above the sinks.
His eyes looked sunken, rimmed in red. He hadn’t shaved in a few days, so a patchy beard was beginning to grow around his goatee. He sighed softly, running a hand down his face and looking back in the mirror.
Quill was standing right over his shoulder, blood dripping from his eyes and mouth.
“Darling.”
Fives gasped, whipping around only to find nothing there. He panted quietly, pressing against the counter and looking around the empty refresher. He swallowed roughly, dragging his hand over his eyes again and abruptly left the room, keeping his head down as he went back into the hallway.
When he made it back to his room, a Mandalorian was just closing the door.
“Oh, hello.” The Mandalorian bowed his head respectfully. “I was just dropping off some clothes for the rest of your family.”
“My family?” Fives echoed.
“Yes, your wife and son. We found some spare clothing, so I was just -.”
“She’s not my wife.” The venom in his voice shocked even Fives. “And he’s not my son.”
“Oh.” The Mandalorian replied quietly. “Forgive me, then. I’ve dropped some clothes off for you as well.” He bowed again, making a quick exit as Fives threw open the door.
“I’m going to sleep on the Cord.” He announced.
“What?” Athena asked, sitting up slightly from where she had laid back on the bed. “Why?”
“Because I’m not sharing a bed with you.” Fives spat.
“Keep your voice down, Kiran is asleep.” Athena hissed back, standing up and going over to him. “Fives, listen, I know you’ve been through a lot, we both have, but -.”
“Don’t start with me. You have no idea what it is I’m going through.” Fives whipped around to face her, jabbing his finger into her face and forcing her back against the wall, his face inches from her own. “I want nothing to do with you, do you understand? Nothing. Don’t you dare think you can worm your way in here now that Quill’s gone, you -.”
Athena slapped him.
Fives paused, rubbing his jaw as he turned to face Athena again. Tears had begun streaming down her cheeks, but her face held nothing but contempt.
“I lost him, too.”
“Mama?”
Both of them turned towards the cot, where Kiran was sitting up and rubbing his eyes. Fives pulled back first, giving Athena room to go to the child.
“I’m sleeping in the Cord.” Fives repeated.
Athena didn’t answer. Fives turned, slipping back out of the room without another word.
~
Gol’Chek didn’t know how long he’d been in the medical bay.
At some point, he’d been given food. He remembered that much. Someone had cleaned him, sponged him down and redressed him in clean clothes. Doctors had been prodding at his legs, trying to find viable nerve endings for prosthetics.
But now, everything was quiet. He could hear the soft groans of the other injured drifting through the air around him, but Gol’Chek himself was quiet. He folded his hands over his stomach, letting his eyes drift closed.
We have a bond.
He inhaled slowly, deeply, centering himself.
I can sense her.
He reached out through the Force, focusing only on Ju’Lah. He tried to sense her, tried to get any sort of indication of where she might be, or if she was even alive. The thought sent an icy cord of fear through him. Was she still alive?
No. No, Maul wouldn’t have killed her. Maul was searching for her because he wanted to take her. He wanted her alive.
Gol’Chek grunted softly, forced himself to relax again. Ju’Lah was out there somewhere. She was counting on him to find her.
He closed his eyes. Focused in.
When he reopened his eyes, he was no longer in the medical bay. Instead, he was back on Gyatta, in the middle of the jungle. He knew exactly where he was, knew this path by heart. He had walked it many times with Ju’Lah, back before the Separatists had razed their village and sent their warriors to slaughter the Garbak people.
“So, you really don’t remember anything from before?”
Gol’Chek whipped around. He knew that voice.
“It comes and goes. Most of it’s a blur.”
He saw himself come into view, walking the path alongside Ju’Lah. His double stopped, investigating a flower along the path.
“What about this one, is this it?”
“How many times do I have to tell you?” Ju’Lah replied, flashing him a smile. “The gol’chek flower only blooms at the summit of Ancient’s Pass. That’s why only the greatest warriors can get it.”
“I’m just testing you.” Gol’Chek chuckled, picking the flower anyway and handing it to Ju’Lah. She smiled, letting the bloom float in her hand for a moment before pushing it upwards, letting it drift towards the sky before gently floating it back down.
“Is that what they teach you the Attunement for?” Gol’Chek teased. “Magic tricks with flowers and rocks?”
“And healing. And hunting, and tracking, and anything else to do with the natural world.” Ju’Lah retorted, flicking her wrist so the blossom swung from the air and instead smacked Gol’Chek in the face.
He chuckled, swatting the flower away.
Gol’Chek knew this memory. It was one he revisited many times himself.
“I’m in her head.” He whispered aloud. “She’s reliving this memory.”
“So… what do you remember, then?”
“Come again?”
“You said ‘most’ of it is a blur.” Ju’Lah replied. “So, what do you remember?”
“There’s… a woman.”
“Oh?” She paused a few feet ahead of him, looking over her shoulder. “Who is she?”
“Someone important.” He said softly, looking at his hands, as if he could conjure a memory of holding her in his arms, feel the way her hands felt in his, something, anything to jog his memory. “But I can’t even remember her face. I just see… shapes.”
“Shapes?” Ju’Lah giggled, picking up two large rocks from the path and holding them against her chest. “Big round shapes?”
Gol’Chek tried to swat at her, but she laughed, dodging and rolling the rocks around on her chest again.
“That’s the last time I answer any of your questions.” He griped, brushing past her and continuing his walk. She laughed again, finally dropping the rocks and jogging to catch up with him.
Gol’Chek followed after them. “Ju’Lah!” He called, reaching for her even as she seemed to get further away. “Ju’Lah!”
“What was she like?”
“I don’t remember.”
“Are you just ignoring me because I made you mad?”
“No, I said I don’t remember.” He shook his head. “Let’s… talk about something else.”
“Okay, what else do you remember?” She peppered him with another question, jogging to catch up with his quickened pace.
“Something other than that, Lah’ika.”
“You remember your other language. The one your people spoke.”
He cocked an eyebrow up at her in confusion, and she shrugged. “You talk in your sleep sometimes.”
“So you sit outside my hut and listen to me when I sleep?” Gol’Chek asked, his eyebrow arching higher.
“No, back before you were really awake, when we were still taking care of you.” She elaborated. “You would talk in your sleep, but it was always words none of us could understand. And that word, the thing you just called me, Lah’ika. It’s a nickname.”
“Yeah, so?”
“We don’t do that with our names. You added that suffix yourself.” She said. “So it must’ve come from your mother tongue.”
Gol’Chek moved in front of them instead, trying to physically grab Ju’Lah, but the dreamlike figures walked right through him. “Ju’Lah! Wake up!” He shouted again. “It’s me, wake up!”
“Ad’ika.”
Ju’Lah cocked her head to the side, her ears twitching.
“It… it means little one. Or sometimes child, depending on the context.” He said. “So, when combined with a name, it’s a term of endearment. So Lah’ika is… Little Ju’Lah.” He mumbled.
She hummed. “I like it.” She scampered ahead again, checking out a tree. “So what would they call you, then, in your mother tongue?”
“Vod.” He answered immediately. “It’s what we called one another, my people.”
“What’s it mean?”
He was quiet for several moments, and she turned to face him again. “Gol’Chek? You okay?”
“Yeah.” He nodded, shaking himself out of his trance. “Brother. It means brother.”
She hummed again, her ears flattening and draping over her back. “And what do the little ones call the older ones, then?” She asked. “If I’m an ad’ika, then you would be…” She trailed off, waiting for him to fill in the blank.
“You would be my buirkan.” Gol’Chek replied. “My responsibility.”
Then, after a moment’s pause: “You are my buirkan, Lah’ika.”
She nodded to herself. “I like your language.” She said decidedly. “Will you teach me more of it?”
“If I can remember it, yes.”
Gol’Chek reached for Ju’Lah again, his hands passing right through her. “Lah’ika.” He tried instead. “Lah’ika, please, I need you to wake up. Remember me. I’m here. I’m here!”
Ju’Lah was blessedly quiet for a few moments after that, but Gol’Chek should’ve known better than to assume her curiosity would be sated, because barely a minute had passed before she asked another question.
“What would you call someone who is a parent?”
“Buir.”
“Can I call you that, then?”
“JU’LAH!”
His hands finally collided with the flesh of her arms, and Ju’Lah gasped finally seeing him for the first time.
“Buir?”

SW Request Guidelines
Tumblr media
This list is not cemented or exhaustive in any capacity, and will be occasionally updated, so please be sure to keep an eye on this post in my #frostfics masterlist and/or check before you make a request if you'd like some inspiration.
**Remember above all else, friends: 'this is War of Stars and Shit's Whack Anyways'. I more believe in having *fun* with the source material above strict adherence to it. If someone requested something that did not strictly adhere to whatever the current canon is, that's their choice. We all have our favorite aspects of Star Wars and they will not always align with another person's.**
UPDATED: 2/9/24
Tumblr media
What I WILL Do
Headcanon requests
Drabbles
One shots
Short series IF I am inspired by the request
When it comes to x readers: I can comfortably write in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Person POVs. My default is 3rd and 2nd person, for the most part!
Want to request a non-x reader? I can do that too, don't be shy! I'll send the semi-feral boys of the 501st (affectionate; always affectionate) on a zoo trip and there'll be plenty of chaos for Rex, Dogma chilling out in the fish exhibit the entire time and Fives being a caring big brother to some Shinnies if that's more your wheelhouse.
Tropes such as: Fluff, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Whump (willing to get heavy depending on type), Enemies-to-Lovers/Idiots-to-Lovers, One Bed/Escape Pod, Fix-its, Soulmate, Actions/Consequences, Domestic; popular occupations like Medic/Mechanic/Bounty Hunter/Jedi etc.
As much or as little Clones-using-Mando'a as you'd like. Familial terms only? Sure! You wanna go for Oops! All Pet Names? You got it! You're allergic to Clones using Mando'a? Cool beans, buddy, I can do that and correct any slip-ups! I know not everyone subscribed to that fanon trope like I did and/or for the same reasons I did.
Platonic or romantic relationships
Implied/Light smut/Mature on occasion! [Will range from 13+ to 18+ age rating depending on my comfort and familiarity with the requested character.]
I have more comfort and familiarity in writing AFAB/female x Readers, so that's what I default to; I can also write gender-neutral x Readers when specified in the request. I've grown out of the writing format of using "Y/N" or "[Name]" for the most part, and I write the general, physical description of Reader in a very vague, more "poetic" manner. [Should be noted I am very unfamiliar with AMAB/male x Readers so I'm afraid I'm likely not the one who will be best to ask.]
We're LGBT+ friendly; I'm a bi woman in my twenties for goodness sake. 🩷💜💙
Most SW characters, really. If you have a particular character in mind that isn't in my main niches of interest, I can probably swing it. There'll be better luck if you request something from one of my main niches of interest. (The Clone Wars, The Bad Batch, The Mandalorian) Please keep in mind that the less I know of a character, the longer it'll take me to complete.
Like a particular fanon trope [like Gray Jedi] or characterization [Captain Rex: exhausted single father over the semi-feral boys of the 501st (affectionate)] and want to see my take on it? Sweet, glad you trust me! I'll certainly do my best depending on what's requested.
I can do things where the type of reader has been specified like "Jedi!Reader" or the popular "Clone Medic!Reader".
We're AU and canon-divergent friendly here! You ordered the "No Order 66 AU with Domestic!Clone Boyfriend" with an order of "____ Lives (Somehow)" on the side? Coming right up!
Is it well past time for everything to Just Stop™ for your fav? We can magically give them a little break.
Delete or completely rework a request if you're impatient with me. I'm doing this for FREE. For FUN. On my own time - I have ADHD tendencies (and hopefully a job, soon) and sometimes the inspiration is just not there. Do not be an entitled little snot or you'll get put in timeout.
Tumblr media
What I will NOT Do
Art requests: Love, I can't even draw my own 18+ Clone OCs for kark's sake, and most of the fan art I'm posting in the #frostsfanart tag is done on whim, vibes and impulse; and it's a miracle some of those have gotten popular.
Sidenote: There is a *chance* you'll get an art response to an ask if I feel I can pull it off, or, if you give me an idea. [Example: "Have you done a helmet doodle for _____ before?"]
Your OC x Canon. Don't want to butcher your brain-child by mischaracterizing them by accident. Not running that risk; doubt this would be a thing that would be requested but I'm just covering my bases.
White-wash the Clones. We believe in evidence of Temuera Morrison's physical characteristics in our Clone husbands/boyfriends here.
Explicit smut as of now. Nothing against it but had a more conservative upbringing; so I'm very unfamiliar with all that and I struggle with writing it without unnecessary guilt! :')
I am not personally comfortable with Clonecest or Clone-shipping; but I am not going to qualify this as DNI criteria.
Will absolutely NEVER do requests involving incest, explicit non-con/rape, any flavor of explicit homophobia/racism/bigotry, etc, on a similar note. Ask will be set on fire and you will be fed to the Rishi Moon eels instead of Cutup. I'll free Echo and put you in his place on Skako Minor before anyone notices I'm there. Get lost, please.
NOT comfortable with the Rexsoka business or Master x Padawan romance. Platonic takes on Master x Padawan!Reader dynamic is acceptable. Characters need to be of-age for romances. Ahsoka was only 17 at the end of Clone Wars, for stars' sake.
Tumblr media
Please Please PLEASE Let Me
Talk about my Clone OCs!! You noticed a "throwaway" Clone name that's not found in any Star Wars series in a fic of mine? Chances are that's one of my many Clone OCs. Some are more fleshed out than others with proper #frostfics canon (that I'll also gladly break for a "____ Lives!" AU or a cameo in some of my longer series like [REDACTED] or a larger part in [REDACTED] because I can.) while others have no "canon" yet at all.
Talk about my own non-request fics from time to time because I reread my own work often enough. You loved That One XYZ Scene in chapter whatever of Sorry, Wrong Comms! and wanna gush about it on or off anon in my askbox? Please by all means so I can gush about it with you! Have a question about why I wrote the scene like that? Wanna pick my brain a little about the headcanons I've worked into the fabric of the story? I'll gladly elaborate!
