Ep. 3; Tutor Session yay… I’m gonna cry

CW; Written chapter, timestamps don’t matter unless said otherwise
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were grabbing your notebooks and stuff until one of your brothers came into your room.
“Where are you going?” your older brother, Ayaso, asked. His voice sounded confused but he had a poker face on.
‘Tutor Session’ is what you could’ve said but you said “To mind my own damn business” as you walked out of the room with your bag of notebooks.
You arrived at Scaramouche’s house with the help of your mom dropping you off. You walked to the door and were about to knock before the door swung open. A woman with blackish purple hair stood in front of you.
“Hello, are you the girl Kunikuzushi is tutoring?” The woman asked
“I’m sorry who?” You said confused
“I forgot he goes by Scaramouche to everyone else”
“Oh yeah, he’s my tutor, is he here?”
“Yes, he is he’s right in his room. Just go up those stairs and the second door to the left is his”
“Thank you”
You went up the stairs and tried to find his room. you found it but you knocked before you came in. Once you heard a muffled come in you opened the door and was hit with the aroma of snacks.
“You got snacks?” You asked him
“No shit?” He looked at you as if you were stupid
“Little rude don’t you think?”
“Little slow don’t you think?”
About an hour into the session, you felt like your brain fried. You grabbed a [chip of choice] and put it in your mouth. He had given you some math problems to practice with
To hell with math, you thought slamming your head on the table
“What? Are you done?” He took your notebook from under your head. He read the questions some of them unanswered.
“How the hell did you manage to get all of the ones you answered wrong?” He was in disbelief.
“Shut up!” You picked your head up and semi-yelled at him
“It’s whatever though I guess we can stop for the day.”
“Finally!”
You stood up and stretched but then an idea popped into your head.
“Wanna go get boba?” You excitedly asked him
He sighed but nodded continuing to putting everything away. You would help him but he insisted that he didn’t need help so you just sat on his bed and waited.
He finished cleaning and grabbed his jacket.
“Well? Let’s go” He was looking at you waiting for you to get up
You quickly stood up but then almost fell.
Should I leave my stuff here or should I take it with me you thought until Scaramouche interrupted your thought process
“Just leave your stuff here you can come back and get it if you’re thinking that” He said practically reading your mind.
“Okay then let’s go” You said excitedly.
He grabbed his keys and led you out the door to his car that was in the driveway.
You guys get to Song Tea and your phone was blowing up with messages whether it was from your friends or from Twitter. You guys enter the store and wait in line it was a really short line since it was 6pm there was only a couple in front of you guys.
Once it was your guys’ turn to order you were about to speak until Scaramouche interrupted once again.
“Can I get a Jasmine green tea with boba and a” he trailed off and looked at you
“What do you want?”
“A Carmel brown sugar mochi dirty with boba” you respond after reading the menu
The lady at the counter nodded and put in the tablet thing. You started grabbing some money out of your pocket until Scaramouche stopped you and shook his head towards you. He paid for yours and his drink. The lady told you two your order number and you went to go find a seat somewhere.
“So.. why’d you pay for my drink not that I’m complaining or anything just curious” You put you head in your hand looking at him.
“Because I wanted to is that a problem?” He raised an eyebrow
You just shook your head. Your order number was called and Scaramouche went to go grab the drinks.

Hi! I love your blog and your stories. They inspire and make my soul curl up! @ о @ ||| Can you make a story about character A being forced to sing a hypnotic song in order to lure character B, who is the partner of character A, into a trance? Character B try to do everything possible to make A stop singing, but they are not allowed to do so. Thanks <3
Hi anon! :) Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoy them!!
As for your request, here you go! And please let me know what you think :)
Sirens don’t exist.
That’s what Dylan thought, anyways.
Being a strong swimmer from an early age meant Dylan had heard it all. How he must be some kind of mythical creature to hold his breath that long. How his toes were actually webbed (they weren’t, but if they were it might shave a few seconds off his record), and how he looked more at home in the pool than most people did in their own beds.
That’s probably why he decided to be a lifeguard.
From 7am-6pm Monday-Thursday he spent his time surveying, swimming, teaching, and rarely (but not rarely enough) saving lives at the local pool.
Unfortunately, despite his skills, Casey was still a stronger swimmer than him.
She glided when she was in water, effortlessly twisting her body around and around. She was the only one picking up more shifts than Dylan.
Casey had always eyed Dylan suspiciously, though. She’d actually been the one to make a few of the “merman” comments before, but almost in a way where she seemed like she wasn’t actually… joking?
Weird.
But eventually, Dylan spent more and more time with Casey and became utterly enamoured with her.
Her smile, her laugh, her love of the water. They went to the beach every other week, and she was the only one who listened to his corny marine-puns.
It was perfect.
Until Dylan forgot his wallet at work.
It was around 8pm. The moon was already rising in the sky as he unlocked the door to the locker room.
It’s kinda eerie when it’s all quiet like this, he thought.
But then he heard it.
Someone was singing…?
“…hello…?”
Why would anyone break in here just to sing?
Dylan passed his locker without checking for his wallet, and instead peered around the corner from the changing room.
Sure enough, there sat his girlfriend, Casey.
She sat in the moonlight singing out. Her eyes shone. She didn’t seem to notice him, she was too lost in her song.
I’ve never heard her sing before, Dylan thought. He smiled. She was a beautiful singer.
Dylan felt his eyelids droop slightly. His head began to bob as he struggled to keep it upright. He could feel his arms growing heavy.
His grip on the wall slipped and he stumbled out into the open. Casey stopped in shock.
“D-Dylan? What are you doing here?”
“I was…” Hm. What had he been doing here? It didn’t seem to matter now. All he wanted was for her to start singing again.
Wait. What? No. He was here… to get his wallet. Right?
Casey smiled, but not the sweet caring smile Dylan was used to. It was eager, crazy, almost scary… she covered her face and seemed to return to normal for a moment.
“P-please! You need to get out of here! I… I can’t control myself like this! Please don’t listen!”
Dylan started towards her. What could’ve made her so eager for him to go?
The moonlight poured in and, despite her covering her eyes, she suddenly regained that crazed look in her eyes.
She began to sing again.
Dylan felt as if he’d had the wind knocked out of him.
Don’t listen.
“Uh… Case… could you stop singing for a sec and talk to me…?”
He could feel his vision blurring slightly. His blinks became slow and laboured.
She looked at him with hunger. Her hand limply beckoned him towards her, as if her arm were a puppet’s on a string.
She licked her teeth.
Dylan plugged his ears and stumbled.
“Casey, seriously. This isn’t funny. Let’s go home…”
He didn’t even sound convincing to himself. That thought also told him he hadn’t plugged his ears very well.
Her singing weaselled its way into his ears and burrowed deep into his brain. Dylan felt hims thoughts become dreamlike, passing by too quickly for him to register.
She said not to listen. Sink. Obey. What did she mean by that? Get closer. Go deeper. Why wouldn’t she just talk to me. Drop. Good. It’s like a siren song. Blank. Empty.
“P-please…” Dylan whimpered as his feet dragged his body over to her involuntarily. “Casey.”
She looked at him, full of lust, full of excitement. He couldn’t understand the lyrics but they drowned his own thoughts out completely.
In the moonlight she didn’t just look beautiful. She looked ethereal.
And Dylan wanted nothing more than to stay there, listening to her forever.
Luckily, that was just what she had in mind.

Crossing the Border to Bolivia
It had been a rough night waking up every hour or two to throw up but I mustered all my energy to get myself showered, dressed, and packed for the 7:30 departure. I definitely felt like I could throw up at any minute but I had a packet of Ritz crackers that were worth their weight in gold for their healing powers. In reception I bought whatever the Peruvian version of Gatorade was and I like to think aside from the sugar, it helped. In terms of medicine, I took a Dramamine tablet for motion sickness wishing it to hold me over until arrival in La Paz tonight. I saw the Australian mother and daughter from the Titicaca tour on the shuttle and they were fine so I wonder what could’ve caused the food poisoning as we’d eaten the same lunch on the tour yesterday… the minibus wasn’t the worst, and the road wasn’t the bumpiest but it just seemed to take forever since I was so exhausted. The driver had a few reckless moments though like when he started driving with the door open as we were about to get out, and another point when he left the handbrake off and the car rolled back with all of of us in it when he got out and he had to throw himself through the window to put it on. The border crossing was easy, unlike the long sweaty waits in Central America. On the Bolivian side of the border our guide Ricardo was replaced by a new guide Rodrigo and we promptly set off towards Copacabana. Around 12pm we arrived there and the rest of the group went off to do the Isla del Sol tour although I felt far too sick to be on a boat. Instead I sat in a little park and watched a family make a BBQ lunch while the sad street dogs looked on longingly. I wandered the streets a bit too, checking out the markets and the basilica which was unexpectedly impressive for such a tiny town. I braved a cinnamon roll and it stayed down so hopefully the worst of my food poisoning had passed. Despite not really wanting to eat or drink I needed to shelter inside a restaurant because there was nothing to do in my state and it was getting colder sitting outside in the wind. I bought a cup of tea and sat on a balcony for a couple of hours until I felt like I couldn’t sit any longer and had to unlock the door to let myself out on to the street. I walked a bit and then went to sit in another cafe for a hot chocolate that was delicious. I was really tired since I hadn’t slept hardly at all and found myself almost nodding off in the restaurant but finally it was almost 6pm and the bus would be departing to La Paz. Since they asked us to be there 15 minutes early I thought that the bus would be ready to board and wait but no, it arrived at 6pm on the dot and we loaded up and left. About an hour later we reached Tiquina and took a ferry across to continue on the road to La Paz where we arrived around 9pm. The roads were very bumpy and dirty, littered with rubbish bags that the street dogs were ripping open to get a meal from. There also weren’t many street lights so this big city was largely in the dark except a few food stalls and shops with lights on. I was the fifth drop off and it was an excruciating wait as I desperately needed the toilet. The receptionist rushed through the check in process and hurried me up to my room so I could use the facilities, she also brought me up a coca tea and ibuprofen tablets too when I mentioned the food poisoning. I actually decided to pay for a second night at the hotel so that I could keep my room for the next day just to lie in bed trying to recover before taking the night bus to Uyuni which I was dreading and almost considering cancelling. Everything was touch as go since I was so sick but I thought with a night and a day in bed I might be able to recover enough to do the night bus and tour. I managed a shower and a quick trip to the supermarket for water and crackers, and some street breads from a lady down the road. My big bag was left with the reception when I checked out and I took just my small backpack for the salt flats adventure and thank God because it ended up being a steep 20 minute walk uphill to get to the bus.

Pairings: Hizashi Yamada (Present Mic), Aizawa Shouta (Eraserhead) x gn!reader
Notes: i love this series and i love getting asked for part 2 of things so asdjhl this was exciting! Hope you guys enjoy <3
Warnings: arguments (Aizawa) but not for a long time, sadness, insecurity, in case you didn’t realise they forget the readers birthday, cursing (aizawa)
Tumblr media
━Hizashi Yamada (Present Mic)
Look, Hizashi is a very busy man and this is something you know
So when he cancels your dates, you’re mostly understanding and he always reschedules anyway
But you can’t exactly reschedule your birthday can you
Which is the exact thought you have while sitting alone on your sofa
He’ll be home soon though, right?
It’s 10pm when you finally five up. Your clothes are creased from you lounging on the couch. You had gotten ready at 6pm since that was when he got off of UA. Yet 4 hours later and your apartment was still empty besides you. You rubbed your arms, embarrassed for being so excited. Of course, he hadn’t actually said he was taking you anywhere but you just assumed since that’s what he did ever year since you met.
It was 11pm when he finally showed up. The bags under his eyes let you know just how tired he was and you felt slightly guilty for the verbal thrashing he was about to get.
“Hey baby, what are you all dolled up for?” He sung, tired voice carrying through the silence
“Oh nothing” you scoffed, crossing your arms, “only my birthday dinner”
The man froze. Your face was blank but your eyes swam with hurt. It wasn’t like him to do this kind of thing. He had never forgotten a birthday before or an anniversary. Hizashi was very organised when it came to events, especially ones that concern you.
Which is probably why he held such a devastated look on his face. He took a few steps towards you and cringed when you shuffled away. Sitting on the sofa, he turned to you. The remorse was evident in his face and it was probably that which tipped you over the edge. Tears started streaming down your face. You looked away, the guilt was evident enough on his face and you doubt you could’ve kept up the anger if you were looking.
Soft fingers held your chin softly, pulling it so your partner could see your tearyface.
“I’m so sorry y/n” he sighed, “I’m just tired and been so caught up with work y'know?”
You sniffled, nuzzling into his hand to show you were listening. His own eyes were tearing up now and you could see the guilt swirling throughout the colour you loved so much. It was obvious he hadn’t meant it but you still hurt.
“I promise I’ll make it up to you tomorrow gorgeous, take the whole day off just for us two?”
Nodding, you rested your head on his shoulder. He hummed you to sleep and your both pretended not to feel the guilty tears dripping down his face. It was a conversation you could have tomorrow. You trusted him to make it up to you, malicious wasn’t a word you would use to describe your partner.
“I love you” he mused, kissing your head as your eyes slipped closed.
━Shouta Aizawa (Eraserhead)
You wish you could say that Shouta wasn’t the type to forget things
He forgot a lot of things but never something like this
Your birthday and anniversaries were like the one thing he remember
There have been more than a few rain checks called last minute but you never really cared
He always made them up to you in some way but this one was different
It was dark already. You hadn’t felt particularly safe in this part of town but while you were waiting it had started raining and now your paranoia was getting to you. It wasn’t even an unsafe part of town but you were alone and already emotionally vulnerable from being ditched for almost four hours by your long term partner. It was now reaching 11 and you were ready to cry.
Finally, you decided to call Nemuri, explaining to her what happened and where you were. The usually happy woman scoffed into the phone at her friends actions and came to pick you up. You were soaking and broke down in her passenger seat as she drove you home.
You shut the door quietly as you walked into your home. You were wet, crying and tired. An interaction with aizawa would have you breaking down in a way you really didn’t need tonight. Just your luck.
“Where have you been?”
You glared at the man on the sofa. He was lounging in a pair of old pyjama trousers, settled ont he sofa as if he hadn’t just humiliated you.
“Really Shouta?” He flinched at the use of his full name, “I’ve been standing outside of a restaurant alone for four hours, waiting for my partner to come and celebrate my birthday”
He checked the date on the calendar on your coffee table.
“Y/n, I-“
“Do you know how humiliating that was? You forgot my birthday, Shou!”
Your voice broke saying his name. You sank down onto the floor, head in your hands. The exhaustion was finally catching up to you, meaning you didn’t protest when strong arms wrapped around you and a familiar scent surrounded your body. His hands rubbed up and down your shoulders, calming you until you could speak.
“I’m sorry kitten, i can’t tell you why other than it just slipped my mind” he murmured into your hair, “I’ll make it up to you i promise”
You sniffled, tucking your head into his neck. You were still a little angry, still very upset but the feeling of his arms around you was a comfort you would allow yourself to indulge in. You trusted aizawa and knew he would make it up to you. This was something that could be sorted tomorrow and for now you just wanted to sleep in the safety of his arms.
“I’ll be better for you, I promise”

I feel like this was lowkey shitty but it’s all good, hope you guys enjoy and request are currently open!

Arguments {Levi Ackerman x Reader}
Tumblr media
TW: strong language
"What the hell do you mean?" you exclaimed, holding the sheet of paper in your hands in front of Hanji. She grimaced with a shrug, scratching the back of her head. "He's taken me off the expedition list?"
It was currently 6pm, and the sun was beginning to set; although you'd only planned to meet Hanji for a few minutes before dinner, it'd turned into a little more than just that. You'd just received the list of people going on the expedition in a week, and despite being on Levi's Squad, you'd been completely removed from the list. Instead of your name being alongside Petra, Oluo, Eld and Gunther, you were nowhere. You hadn't even been put at the back!
"I dunno, I don't get told about this sort of stuff," she chuckled nervously, trying to not make you angrier than you were. "Although it is a bit odd that Erwin's removed you, out of all people. He never does that."
"Then why on Earth has he done it now?" you asked rhetorically, pissed off. As much as you enjoyed being safe inside the walls and not having to go on another traumatising adventure past the walls, you felt it was incredibly embarrassing to be removed for no reason at all while the others risked their lives for your future. "I mean, I doubt the Squad asked him. That'd just be ridiculous."
"I did see Levi go to Commander Erwin's office last night, so..." Hanji trailed off, realising she'd probably said something she wasn't supposed to.
You and Levi had been dating for about a year now, and while she knew for a fact the black-haired man would never directly upset you, it wasn't out of the ordinary for him to try and convince Erwin to remove you. He'd tried to do it last time, because the expedition before that had ended tragically. You'd almost been killed, and if it wasn't for him saving you from the jaws of a titan and almost breaking his own leg, you wouldn't be there in front of her.
After losing his best friends, Isabel and Farlan, in the past, she was sure he wasn't planning on losing you any time soon.
"That little shitbag," you muttered, wrinkling your nose.
You loved Levi. You really did. But removing you from the expedition list was so selfish you could hit him.
It wasn't up to him. He did not have the right to chose whether you risked your life for the greater good or not, and this was what you dedicated your life to. He was not allowed to force Erwin to remove you just because he was too selfish to see you go. Deep down, you knew what he was trying to do. He was just worried you'd get yourself killed, and he really loved you, but you were too angry to care about that. In your eyes, it appeared that he didn't trust you and he didn't believe you could do it.
"It might not be him!" Hanji suggested, an awkward smile on her face as she put her hands up in surrender. "Y'know, they could've been talking about something else!"
However, you ignored her and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind you. Hanji, sighing, face-palmed as she knew just what Levi was about to get into.
Walking down the corridor as calmly as you could, you looked at each office door and at the golden plaques, looking for Levi's name imprinted on one just to make sure you didn't go bursting into the wrong office ranting and raving. Eventually, when you found it, you took a deep breath and gently opened the door, not wanting to get into a full-blown argument with your boyfriend.
"Tch, can't you brats knock?" Levi asked, his voice blunt and monotone. However, when he noticed it was you, his eyes widened for a split second before returning back to normal. "Oh, hey."
"Levi," you begun, closing the door behind you as you tried to think of something to say. Levi looked down at the paper you were holding, and as soon as he realised what it was, he hesitated. You noticed this, and that was all the confirmation you needed to know that it was him who'd taken your name off. "Nice to know you've taken me off the expedition."
"I should've known you'd figure out it was me," Levi said sternly, standing up from his desk and slipping his quill back into the ink pot. "Look, let me explain-"
"No, I've already figured it out, thanks," you said sarcastically, slapping the paper onto his desk in frustration. "You don't think I'm good enough to survive out there, do you?"
Levi was silent.
"I've noticed the training exercises for me have become... different than the others," you continued, your mind going back to the small yet significant differences in your training schedules than people like Petra. "You've tried it before, to get me off the expedition lists just so I don't get hurt."
"Y/n, I have a reason to do that," he tried to say, but you continued in your rant. "If you'd just shut up for two seconds-"
"I couldn't give a fuck if I die or not, Levi," you said, wrinkling your nose as he rolled his eyes at your mini-outburst. "I specifically signed up for this just SO I could help out in the survival of humanity. You out of all people should know that! The amount of times I've told you why I want to do this and how much it means to me is insane. And if you're not going to let me do what I need to do because you're too scared I'll die, then... well, I dunno! It's just unfair!"
"Are you done yet?" Levi asked, his voice rising as he glared intimidatingly at you. It wasn't something you were scared of, but you knew you needed to shut up before he actually got angry. You closed your mouth and sighed, unable to look your boyfriend in the eyes. He leaned against his desk, rolling back his head as he tried to think of something that wouldn't upset you more. And, as everyone knew, he was not the greatest with words. "Listen, Y/n. And don't butt in until I've fucking done, got it?"
You nodded.
"First of all, I apologise for doing anything like that without your permission," he said, and your eyes widened at him for even saying sorry. "It was a stupid thing to do. But since your dumbass almost got fucking eaten, I don't want you to go on another expedition."
"But why!?" you exclaimed, your heart sinking. Levi glared at you again, and you quickly shut up.
"In all fairness, it is my own selfishness," he admitted quietly, only just loud enough for you to hear. "I'm not like precious Commander Eyebrows. He doesn't give two shits about who dies on the battleground, but I do. And I don't fancy one of my best soldiers getting murdered in a pointless expedition when I might need them in a more important one in the future."
"That's bullshit," you answered, and he raised an eyebrow. "Hanji and Mike are much better than me, and although they've nearly been killed multiple times, they still make the expedition list."
"That's because they're captains," Levi stated, his voice getting a little louder. "I don't have control over whether they make the list or not."
"Alright then, what about Eld? Gunther?" you asked, and Levi kept his mouth shut, unable to answer. "Exactly. Petra was almost stepped on last expedition if it wasn't for goddam Oluo, but she still makes the stupid list. She almost got crushed, too, but I get nearly eaten ONCE and now it's like I'm banned for good. If you're that bothered, just remove me from your squad altogether!"
"That's not what I want," he almost snarled, pushing himself off the edge of the desk and crossing his arms. "And you know that."
"Then what the hell do you want?!"
"For you not to die!"
A silence entered the room. Your mouth stayed agape as Levi stared at the ground, occasionally looking back at you with a glare that could slice through metal. Your heart pounded against your chest, adrenaline rushing through your veins, and you didn't know what to say.
"Ever since Isabel and Farlan, you're the only person I've managed to get this close to," he continued, quieter than he was before while his hands were stuffed into the pockets of his navy blue jeans . "I don't want to lose... the only family I have left. And I know that's unfair on you, but my selfishness got in the way."
"I... Levi," you said softly, wandering over to him and pulling him into a hug. He wrapped is arms tightly around your waist as he nuzzled his face into your neck, making you giggle when his warm breath tickled your skin. "I understand. I'm sorry for yelling."
"Me too," he replied, rubbing his fingers in circles on your back. Being this close to someone was an amazing feeling that he'd been missing for years and years, and because he didn't want to lose that, he'd decided to go out and do something you didn't want.
He remembered how he'd felt when he'd saved you from the jaws of a titan. You still had the scars on your stomach and back from the bite marks, and he couldn't get rid of the memories of watching you on the grassy ground, bleeding out as you went sickly pale and almost passed out. He'd hated every moment, including when he watched you get stitches in the hospital. Any one of those breaths could've been your last, and the anticipation he felt as he waited outside the ward room for you to wake up. You could've been in a coma. You could've died. You could've gotten brain damage so awful that you couldn't remember who the hell you were.
He didn't want to feel that ever again. Ever.
"I think if I were Captain, I'd do the same to you," you said, pulling away and taking his hands into yours. "I should've listened to you."
"I'll try my best to get Erwin to put you back on the Expedition list, if that's what you really want," Levi said, and you knew that by 'try my best', he meant 'if he doesn't, I'll beat the shit out of him'. He was very good at getting what he wanted. "But if you slip up like a total idiot again, I'll break your legs so you have a good excuse to not go next time."
As if he'd ever do that.
"Pfft, got it," you grinned, and he ruffled your hair before wandering back to his seat, presumably to finish off his paperwork. You pouted, unsure whether to stay here with your boyfriend or to go down for dinner. It was unlikely Levi would remember to get food; he usually was too focussed on his paperwork to get some or he just chose against it, so you usually bought some up for him.
"You look lovely today," Levi then said out of the blue, and your heart fluttered as a small smile appeared on your face. "You usually look beautiful, of course, but today, you look... really nice."
"Thank you," you replied, wandering over before planting a small kiss on his lips. "You look lovely too."
A chuckle escaped his lips before he looked down at his watch, taking note of the time. "Do you want to go down to dinner with me?"
"Sure," you answered, and once he stood up, he stretched out his hand for you to take. Overjoyed, you left the paper on his table and took it, your fingers interlocking just as he liked. He gave you a quick squeeze before adjusting the sleeves of his top and leaving the room, making sure to lock his office after leaving.

Friend. Friend. Friend. Why.
This is a sequel to Push All My Buttons. You don't necessarily need to read it to read this. This one is certainly not the same kind of fic.

Excelsior
Bucky had nine months with Sam and Riley before they shipped out with the wings. He and Sam had been sleeping together for that entire time minus three days and they’d been dating for about two weeks less than that. As Riley had always said, ‘When you know, you know. Even if all you know is that they’re an irritating little shit.’ Which is what he thought both Sam and Bucky were, especially together.
It had been a really good nine months.
They shipped out late afternoon on a Saturday and that was a very bad month.
Bucky wasn’t military and Rhodes had left with the project and taken on his duties again elsewhere. Stark, in his own haze of being left alone, did not fill Bucky in on any developments with the wings, if he was even asking Rhodes.
The only thing Bucky got was the occasional phone call or text, in which Sam could barely talk about anything to do with the wings. Well, those and the program Bucky had on his computer. It was just the monitoring datastream for the jetpacks, essentially a condensed readout of what showed up on the wristlets. BPI and vitals of the wearers, elevation, fuel reserves, GPS, temperatures, difficult to decipher radar readings.
Bucky kept up with the readings religiously. He slept in his office space more often than not and scrolled through the information every morning when he did leave. So he was there at 6PM when the reading came screeching in. It was nearly a year to the day that they’d shipped out. It was a Friday. Bucky was actually packing up to go home and shower for once.
The program lost its mind the same way the wristlets would be. EXO-7 Suit 2 had lost all BPI and dropped elevation until… It hit the ground and went off line.
Bucky was pretty sure he passed out because he opened his eyes and he was on the ground, staring up at the fluorescents. There was almost no way to know for sure which pilot was in which suit. Suit 2, the Redwing suit, was usually Riley’s, but there was nothing to say that Sam hadn’t grabbed it that night. It would be about 2.30 in the morning over there. Mission like that could’ve been last minute. Could’ve taken them right out of bed. They could’ve grabbed whatever was closest. And Sam and Riley shared everything down to toothbrushes.
Bucky could comb through the data from the minutes previous. Try to rationalize out the BPI readings and find patterns, but the point of it being Sam and Riley was that they were similar pilots. Their build, their resting heart rate, the way they jumped into action. It was like watching twins move. Their readings weren’t different enough to prove anything, even if Bucky could make his arms and hands work enough to scroll back.
The other suit was still online. It dove halfway down before stopping as the radar lit up with projectiles. Again and again, like a bird dashing into traffic for another’s dead body, Falcon tried to get down to Redwing against enemy fire.
Bucky snatched his computer from its dock and raced to the elevator. His hands were shaking so badly he hit a few numbers below. The elevator went up to 88 and Bucky jabbed the door close button over and over. 89. 90. 91.
Bucky burst out on floor 92, tried not to think about the fact that just looking at elevator buttons had made him start crying, and ran towards Stark’s workstation.
“Call Rhodes!” he shouted and didn’t give a shit about the tears in his voice. “Call Colonel Rhodes right now.”
Stark sprawled upright, having apparently been asleep, and reached for his phone before narrowing his bleary eyes at Bucky.
“Barnes? What’s going on?” he asked.
Bucky set the computer down on a mess of other electronics. “One of...one of… Fuck!” A sob ripped its way out of his throat and he angrily swiped the heel of his hand across his eyes. “One of the suits went down. Someone...someone…”
“Shit,” Stark said and grabbed the phone again. He scrolled through the data reports and flinched which made Bucky snatch the computer back to look at what he was seeing. It was the radar report for Redwing. A large, explosive projectile had been launched into radar zone just before the suit fell. Bucky dropped the laptop and it landed lid first in a box of papers but didn’t shut so he still saw the WARNING WARNING WARN--
“Rhodey,” Stark said. “Rhodey, what’s going on on that end? No, I said I’d stay out of it if-- I don’t care. I’ve got-- Rhodey don’t you--” He fell silent but Bucky could hear Rhodes speaking on the other end. Stark kept shooting glances at Bucky and flinching like he didn’t have control of his body. “Alright. Thank you. That wasn’t so hard. Yeah. Yeah. No, I won’t tell anyone. No, not even Barnes,” he said. “Yes, especially not Barnes.”
He hung up and then looked at Bucky. “I’m not telling you this. It wasn’t Sam.”
Bucky fell back to the ground, catching himself on his knees this time. His arms were too heavy to pick up and the tears were falling even faster now that he knew Sam was okay. Because if Sam was okay that meant that Riley… That meant that Riley… That meant that Riley was wearing the Redwing suit.
Bucky curled into himself on the floor and screamed until his throat went sore. Stark, bless him, did not try to comfort him. He fell forward enough to press his forehead to the tile and shouted again, banged his fists on the floor and then buried them in his hair instead.
He did not go home.
Stark gave Bucky a cot to keep in his office. Bucky learned to live on it while he stared at the computer screen. That night, Sam had given up on getting to the ground and had to retreat. The suit was taken off and it had been quiet since. That did not stop Bucky from staring at it. One night, it pinged a reading--something like 3 PM their time--and Bucky watched the jetpack get taken up into the air. Higher and higher and higher and higher. Higher than he’d ever meant for them to go. High enough that he started to worry for whoever was wearing it. They were running out of oxygen. It better not have been Sam.
Then the wings retracted and the suit plummeted. Bucky nearly knocked his computer over jumping up. There was nothing in the vital readings to suggest the pilot had lost consciousness or suffered any medical episode. They were just falling. And it wasn’t a mechanical malfunction. The wings had been pulled in.
The pilot was letting themselves fall.
It better not be Sam.
Bucky was really going to watch another one die. He was going to see Sam k*** himself.
The pilot opened their wings ten feet before impact and soared back up, looping around one and then landing heavily on the ground.
The wings came back off.
Sam did it four more times, once each night, before the wings came off and stayed off.
That’s when the GPS started to move.
Two days later, Bucky was at an airport.
It had been slightly more than a week since Riley died. Riley died. Riley died. The words were wrong in Bucky’s head. His tongue rejected them without even trying to say it.
Here’s what Bucky knew about Riley. He knew Sam and Riley had known each other since their first tour. He knew that they took their education leave at the same time, went to the same school, and lived together for the three years it took them to get a degree. He knew Riley knew Sam better than Bucky did. He knew Sam had a sister who loved Riley like another brother. He knew Riley loved Sam like his own brother and Sam loved him back.
He knew that in the nine months he and Sam had been dating, he’d really only give himself six, maybe seven of those because Riley got the rest of the time and half time for the months Bucky did claim. He knew Sam called Riley before he called Bucky when he was upset. He knew Riley was such a good fucking guy and so important to Sam that that didn’t even make Bucky jealous.
He knew that Riley didn’t like coffee unless it had been turned into a sweet drink and had whipped cream on it. He knew Riley was from the middle of nowhere and sometimes talked like an obnoxious parody of a cowboy when he was tired or drunk and definitely when he was both. He knew he was a baker. He knew he liked poetry. He kept books in his army bag.
But even if he didn’t know that and nine months worth of other things, the only thing he needed to know was that Sam loved Riley more than he loved breath in his lungs or wings on his back. He loved Riley to the point of giving up concert tickets because Riley got sick and couldn’t go. He loved Riley enough to listen to bad country music in the car. He loved Riley more than he loved sex, if the number of nights he cut out on dates or netflix and chill to pull Riley out of a bad decision was anything to go by.
Sam loved Riley, Riley loved Sam, and Bucky loved Sam so Bucky loved Riley.
And Riley was dead.
Bucky had paced a hole in the floor waiting on Sam. His flight had been delayed three times already and they were two hours past the first arrival time. Energy and despair and hurt thrummed through his body and Bucky couldn’t dispel it no matter how hard he tried. He’d tried to use the gym at the tower. He’d tried to run it off. He’d tried to eat. Tried to not eat. Tried to sleep. Tried to not sleep.
Okay, that one he didn’t need to try to do. He just didn’t sleep.
It remained, locked around his heart and his head.
Sam was coming back on his own. They apparently hadn’t been stationed with a real unit, so there was no one else to send home. Even if they had been with a real unit, Sam was the only one who needed bereavement. So there was no sea of camo or cropped hair to alert Bucky that Sam was coming.
One second he was alone in his grief, the next second Sam was stepping off the elevator. They met halfway across the floor. Bucky was surprised there wasn’t a noise as they crashed together, arms coming around bodies, faces pressed to shoulders, tears escaping again. Sam wasn't in his fatigues or civvies. There was nothing distinctly airforce about him, so they were just two men losing it in each other’s arms and no one knew the depth of it.
Bucky thought about apologizing but there was nothing to apologize for. There were no words to do so anyway. So he just held onto Sam, one hand coming to the back of his head to hold him close. Sam sobbed once, twice, and then collected himself.
Bucky had no idea how long they stood like that. He could’ve stayed for days longer. The hole in his heart was still very much so there. But the luggage turnstile next to them had turned on and off four times and Bucky really wanted to get home and cry in private.
“Baby, let’s go,” he murmured softly, kissing Sam’s chin and then his cheek. “Let’s get you home.”
“I-I-I need to get to our storage unit. I need to-to sort his things,” Sam hiccuped without lifting his head.
“Later. Not right now. You’re coming home with me, alright?”
Sam nodded and wiped his eyes on Bucky’s shoulder. He lifted his head and actually looked at Bucky for the first time all afternoon.
“Hey,” Bucky breathed, brushing his thumb over Sam’s cheek to catch other tears.
Sam held his wrist and kissed his palm. “Hey.” He leaned down to kiss Bucky, tentative at first and then Bucky remembered that he’d thought it was Sam who’d gone down in Redwing for three minutes. He’d watched Sam free fall hundreds of meters to the sand below over and over. He’d almost lost him so many times. And Bucky crashed into him all over again and Sam pushed back. New tears fell, mingling together against their noses and lips and pressed cheeks.
“I can’t lose you, Sam breathed into Bucky’s mouth. “Not you too.”
“Don’t you ever scare me like that again,” Bucky said.
Sam’s mouth slid off of his, anguish on his face again. His forehead leaned against Bucky’s temple. “He’s gone, Buck. I couldn’t even look for…”
Bucky squeezed his eyes shut and saw Falcon dashing through enemy fire. “I know, Sam. I know. You tried.”
“Not hard enough. I saw it on the radar before he did. I was going to call out but I…I didn’t, Buck. I didn’t say anything.”
Bucky had nothing to say to that so he wrapped Sam in his arms again. “Let’s go home, Sam. There’s nothing else we can do here. Just breathe for me. Come on.”
Bucky grabbed Sam’s bag and lead him out of the terminal.
Sam slept on the floor, which was fine by Bucky. Something about how beds were too soft. After a week on a cot, Bucky might’ve thought the same thing. So he shoved his coffee table out of the way and threw all the pillows he owned on the floor and laid down several blankets and they slept on the floor.
Sam barely spoke the next day.
He went through the motions of washing dishes after Bucky made breakfast. It was just cereal, so there was little to clean up. He turned on the TV and let it play a documentary about the oceans. It played all day. Over and over. Bucky was pretty certain he could ask Sam anything about it and Sam wouldn’t be able to answer. He ate barely half a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. He read a book of poetry on the floor all afternoon. He ate dinner and Bucky washed the plates.
The second day was much the same, but then Sam was agitated. He flipped through shows and got mad when he couldn’t figure out what to watch. He slammed doors when he left rooms. He threw the pillows and blankets on the couch when he lost his phone, which he hadn’t been answering at all anyway. Bucky had left it plugged in on the arm of the couch. They skipped dinner that night and sat on the couch with the TV off and Sam laid in Bucky’s lap and cried again. They fell asleep like that.
The third day, Sam got up and made breakfast. It was cereal again. Bucky put on music. Sam washed the clothes in his bag. Handed Bucky a beautiful leather bracelet he’d picked up when they’d first landed overseas. Gave him another box and managed to say, “For the birthday he missed,” before he dashed to the bathroom and got sick. Bucky left the box on a bookshelf and went to Sam’s side, rubbing his back and massaging his neck. The gift was a jean and sheepswool jacket. They skipped dinner again.
The fourth day, they sat on the floor, staring at the bare couch. Bucky got tired of counting how many buttons had gone missing, so he said, “You have to talk about it.”
Sam choked but didn’t run for the bathroom. “I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Sam, you can’t keep it bottled up. Listen, after I got back from…”
“You wanna talk about things we should talk about: how’d you lose your arm, Bucky?”
“This isn’t about me. And I was just about to tell you that when I got back from my mission, I had to do a shit ton of therapy. And I hated it. And it took me a really long time to start being honest, but once I did, it helped me recover more than getting a new arm did.”
“How’d you lose your arm?”
“I saw him go down. I saw all the readings.”
“That’s not the same thing. I watched my best friend…” Sam gagged again and brought his hands up to his mouth. Tears filled his eyes and Bucky was sure it was a combination of getting sick and being upset. “I watched him die. I don’t know why I even thought I could find a body. I could… Fucking pieces if I’d gotten to the ground. That would’ve been it.” Bucky flinched and Sam zeroed in on it. “That what you wanted to hear, Barnes? Is that what I needed to say to heal myself? My best friend is dead. Maybe his body could be cold before you ask me to fix myself.”
Bucky squeezed his eyes shut. “That’s not what I was saying, Sam. Don’t attack me. I’m on your side.”
Sam stood suddenly, swayed on his feet, then found his balance. “I’m going to shower. Please just...give me time to myself right now.”
Bucky dropped his head to the couch.
The fifth day, they were both called into Stark Tower by Rhodes.
It was too early, Bucky thought, to ask Sam to do more debrief. It was too early to ask him to face the world. Bucky had laid on his sister’s couch for two weeks before he could so much as answer the door when he got back.
Sam was in a mood again. Actually, the mood hadn’t ever lessened from the afternoon before. It was back to the silent treatment and if Bucky did push him to say something, he’d be cruel and biting, over descriptive and intentionally mean. Nothing at all like Sam. Or maybe, just like him. This was, after all, Sam at his lowest. How was Bucky to know what that looked like? The only man who could’ve told him was dead.
Bucky had called ahead and had two of the strongest, plainest black coffees waiting in the lobby of Stark Tower for him and Sam. Anything that wouldn’t smell like Riley. They got into the elevator alone and Bucky passed Sam one of the coffees. The doors closed and before Sam could reach over and choose floor 92, Bucky selected 2 - 91.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” Sam asked. It could’ve been a snarl if the day hadn’t already been so long. If they hadn’t already argued about Bucky wearing the jacket Riley had given him. If Sam hadn’t knocked a glass off the coffee table and shattered it on accident then cut his fingers picking up shards. If Bucky hadn’t slept in his bed like a normal person.
“We have to talk,” Bucky said.
“I don’t...fucking want to talk,” Sam said, trying to double click the floors like something said would unhighlight them. It didn’t. The doors opened on the second floor.
The doors shut. “I saw what you did the days after Riley died.”
“Don’t fucking say that,” Sam snapped, like he hadn’t told Bucky this morning about the blood that had been on his suit when he landed.
“I saw you free fall. Over and over. I watched that, Sam.”
Sam’s jaw steeled and he stared at his reflection in the stainless steel siding. “I free fall all the time. It’s one of the things we learn how to do.”
“Not like that, Wilson. You went into the fucking atmosphere. There’s no telling what the wings would have done at the speeds you were clocking.”
Sam’s mouth remained a straight line.
“You could’ve died,” Bucky said to get it out there.
“Good,” Sam said, ripping off the bandaid.
The doors opened on the fifth floor. “Don’t,” they both said to the woman who tried to step in.
“I’m still here,” Bucky said.
“I know. And I’m sorry I did that. I’m sorry I felt that way. I’m sorry I still feel that way. I can’t make myself stop.”
Bucky swallowed hard and rubbed the heels of his hands into his eyes. “Sam...I tried too, alright? You don’t… I haven’t told you the whole story about my discharge and I will one day. This isn’t the day for that. But my story isn’t clean. Not even close. And I tried it too. I thought that’d be a lot simpler than the bullshit I was about to go through. I thought it’d be a justice for the people involved in my story.”
Sam looked at Bucky sharply, eyes red, tears wet on his cheeks.
“It wouldn’t’ve been. So I need you to tell me what’s going on and how we can fix this.”
Slowly, the fight seeped out of Sam’s shoulders. Common ground at last. A shock to his system. A bitter, bitter win for Bucky for the time being. Sam sank down and stared at his coffee cup. “I’ve known Riley for over a decade. More than anyone else in my life who ain’t blood.”
Bucky sat beside him. The elevator stopped on three floors.
“I’ve known him for a third of my life. The first serious third. I think I grew up more with him than anyone I went to school with. I’ve never had to do this on my own. He was always right next to me. I haven’t made a decision without asking him since I decided to sign up.”
“So, poor track record of making your own decisions,” Bucky joked softly.
“I was going to let myself do it,” Sam whispered then. “I wasn’t going to pull the wings back out.” Bucky’s heart went cold and still in his chest before roaring back to life. “I’m sorry you could see the readings. I didn’t know that.”
“I’m not upset I saw it. I’m upset that you felt the need to do it.”
Sam looked over at him. “Sure, but let me ask, what stopped you from following through?”
Bucky stomach twisted painfully. It was his turn to get nauseous. “I didn’t want my sister to find me. It wouldn’t be fair to her.”
Sam nodded. “If I know you might be watching those readings, I won’t be able to do it again.”
Bucky nodded and brought the coffee to his lips. It scorched his mouth and throat and he didn’t taste it all but the point wasn’t the taste. The doors opened on the seventeenth floor.
“We’re going up,” Sam said in a quiet voice.
The doors closed.
“He was my friend too,” Bucky said, voice raw. “You can talk to me about him.”
“I know that. I’m just not in the sharing mood right now.”
The doors opened. Closed. Opened. Closed. Opened. Closed.
“I fell off a train,” Bucky said. “I told you my SpecOps mission was in the mountains. I was knocked out of a moving train going around the side of a mountain and I… I’m not really sure how it happened. I might’ve reached out for the cliff face. I might’ve just hit it on the way down. I didn’t have my arm when I woke up on the ground.”
“Well, shit, maybe a bear ate it while you were out.”
“Nah, the doctors said it was too smooth. It was ripped off all at once.”
Sam flinched and then closed his eyes.
“I actually had a little bit left. I dunno, half of my upper arm, maybe. It was removed later. So, I guess it wasn’t that smooth and pretty. You know what I remember most?”
Sam hummed without lifting his head.
“I remember the jacket I was wearing. We’d been undercover when we were called into action. I was wearing a beautiful jacket that I’d picked up somewhere when the mission was still an adventure and not a nightmare. And I remember laying in the snow, looking at all that blood and my missing arm and being upset that my jacket had been ruined.”
Sam snorted and then lost the battle against sobs again. He set the coffee aside and moved over to hug Bucky, crying into his shoulder. Bucky wrapped his arms around Sam and kissed his hair. “We’re gonna get through this, Sam. You’ve just gotta trust me to hold you up. And you’ve gotta trust me to be on your side. I’m not gonna say shit to make you follow the rules or whatever. I’m gonna say shit that helped me, rules be damned.”
“I miss him so much. It’s only been five days. How am I supposed to go seventy more years without him? I’ve called his number a hundred times already and no one ever picks up.”
Bucky rubbed Sam’s back and nodded. “I know, baby. C’mere.” He pulled Sam more into his lap. Sam clutched at his shirt with trembling fingers “I’m gonna be right here. You don’t have to do this alone.”
“I feel so fucking alone.”
“You’re not, Sam. I’m right here. I’m with you.”
Sam pressed his face further against Bucky’s neck and Bucky felt his tears, cool and heartbreaking. He didn’t have words. He just kept rubbing his hands over Sam’s back, kissing his temple and his hair and saying, “I’m here, I’m here, I’m here.” Hoping Sam would hear him through his grief and believe it.
He held him for forty more floors and they cried together. The elevator continued ever upwards. They pushed forward ever onwards.
“I’m right here,” Bucky said as the doors opened on floor 92. Sam nodded against his shoulder and slowly stood up.
Upwards and onwards.

——————————————————————————
“Y/N did you get my coffee?”
Your boss, Mr. Choi called out to you and you scram, picking up his coffee and papers and bringing it right to the office.
“Here you are your coffee and the daily report on the company’s stocks.”
“Ah thank you.”
“You’re welcome sir, I have to go on and see how the design department is doing sir. If you need anything else call me.”
He nodded and you left his office. In reality you just wanted to see your crush/best friend Wooyoung, who worked in the design department.
Little did you know San was watching you through the security cameras. Without you knowing obviously. San has developed a little crush on you. Although he was married, he hated his wife. But she also just happened to visit right at that moment.
“Sannie!”
She yelled out running toward San’s desk expecting him to get up and hug her. But he didn’t move. Instead he turned off his computer and started reading the report you had given him earlier. He didn’t even look up.
“Yes?”
“Baby. I’m bored. Let’s go somewhere.”
“I’m at work, I can’t go anywhere.”
“Come on, you’re the CEO. You don’t need to work.”
“I don’t know who told you that, because that’s the furthest thing from the truth. I have to do a lot of work to make sure this company doesn’t fall apart. So I can get money. A simpler way to say it, is that you can get more Louis Vuitton bags. You can only get it, if I work.”
“You’re right. Well what about a date night? I’ll wear your favorite lingerie.”
She whispered the last part looking San right in the eyes.
“No thanks. I’m too busy.”
He said immediately, denying her.
San didn’t like her one bit. Yeah he had sex with her but it was the worst. She would cum so quickly and fall asleep. She didn’t satisfy San at all. San wouldn’t even be near and she would already be asleep. So he ended up jerking off since she couldn’t please him.
He could’ve gotten any other girl and cheating wasn’t a problem for him either. The only problem was you. He wanted you.
You on the other hand, if you weren’t working, you were usually partying. Having sex, drinking, enjoying your life. You were still young.
San knew all this, he saw your social media, and heard co workers talking about it at times. Yes it angered him. He wanted to fuck you hard, to let you know who you belong to. He would kill just to punish you. You were everything he was looking for in a lover. The definition of perfect. But sadly couldn’t have you because he didn’t know how you felt, and had a wife.
“Hello? San? Baby? Did you hear what I said?”
His wife called out.
“Uh, no. Uh sorry can you repeat that.”
“I said that we have to attend my dad's business party this evening.”
“Okay. Can you please leave now?”
She looked at San.
“Do you not enjoy my company?”
“No, now leave.”
She took her purse and went over to San and kissed his cheek. Right then you walked in.
“Oh, I’m so sorry. I’ll leave you two alone.”
You said embarrassedly
“No, y/n wait she was just leaving.”
San’s wife looked at you with a stern expression. She walked to you and stopped by your ear.
“Don’t touch my husband with your dirty whore hands.”
“Wasn’t planning to, he’s all yours and I respect that.”
You mumble out and look up to see San staring right at you.
“Good.”
She then pushed you out of the way and left.
“I’m sorry about her, she’s just mad I asked her to leave.”
“How come? She’s your wife.”
He looked at you with an almost disappointed expression.
“Yeah but it was arranged you know. I didn’t actually want to get married with her.”
“Sorry to hear. Anyways, I came to tell you the design team is doing well and they actually made a new logo for the next season collection. I thought you might want to take a look.”
You handed the sample container and pictures of the design to San.
“They look great. Nice patterns and durable design.”
“Great, I’ll let the design department know.”
“That won’t be necessary. I need you to go pick up my dry cleaning and take it back to my house. I have an event to attend. And don’t worry it’s prepaid.”
“Okay.”
You go to your desk, and grab all your things and head down to the parking lot.
You were looking for your car until Wooyoung had appeared and called out your name.
“Oh hey Woo, what’s up?”
“I have to ask you something, but what’re you doing? Are you going home? Are you feeling sick? What’s going on?”
“No silly I have to go pick up San’s dry cleaning and drop it off to his house. Then I’m off. Why what happened?”
“Oh, well I wanted to ask if you wanted to come with me to this event that my dad was invited to. He said I can bring a plus one and I was wondering if you would-”
“I would love to Woo.”
You said suddenly cutting him off.
“Oh really, great! I’ll pick you up at 8, dress in a classy dress. Look good for me doll.”
You roll your eyes and smile at his words.
“Yeah, whatever you say king. I have to get going now. Bye!”
You left work and went to go get San’s dry cleaning. You picked it up and were on your way to his house. You ring the doorbell and his wife answers.
“Hi, Mrs. Choi. Here’s Mr. Choi’s dry cleaning he asked me to grab for him.”
“Why did he ask you?”
“Because I’m his assistant?”
“But I’m his wife, I could’ve gotten it for him.”
“I- I don’t know anything about that, he just asked me to pick it up for him and I did. I’m just doing my job.”
She rolls your eyes and takes it from you. Then proceeds to slam the door in your face.
You scoff and think what a salty bitch.
But hey, not my problem. (-Johnny nct)
You walked back to your car and headed back to your house to get ready since it was 6pm already.
Time skip
You had finished getting ready and had put on a new dress that you got for Mr. Choi’s birthday. You ended up not going to his birthday party because his wife had told you not to come and so you didn’t. However the next day he wasn’t talking to you and avoided all contact from you. You then told him that his wife uninvited you and you didn’t want to ruin the party so you didn’t show up.
But this dress was absolutely beautiful. It was a blood red formal dress, that was off the shoulder with a little cleavage showing. It has a slit on the side and to top it all off your black Louis heels.
Soon enough the door bell had rung and you got out of the house where Wooyoung's jaw dropped.
You chuckled at him
“You look stunning doll. Now stay close to me, I don’t want anybody looking at you.”
He intertwined his hands with yours and walked your to the black Porsche parked outside. He drove you to the event and helped you out.
Damn this was a very elegant event. Everyone was wearing designer clothes and all looked like millionaires.
Wooyoung kept you close with him and whispered in your ears that mafias were here. Some of the girls were actually sold to them and forced to put on a pretty face and not cry. You looked at the younger girls with the older men and saw how terrified they were.
You couldn’t help them, which made you upset.
“Don’t be upset doll, here’s a drink. Warm up a bit, it’s just business I suppose.”
“Not very nice business.”
You mumbled out. Other than that incident, Wooyoung made sure to keep you by his side. He got you drinks, danced with you and entertained you the entire night. Wooyoung dragged to the dance floor once again, and you two were slow dancing. And everyone was watching.
You hated the attention and tried not to focus on it too much. It was just you and Wooyoung at that moment. Until you made eye contact with really familiar eyes. It was San. You didn’t realize this was the same event that he was going to. But at that moment you didn’t care. More people started joining the dance floor with their lover. You two were dancing until Wooyoungs father called us over.
“Hey love birds, I want you guys to meet Mr and Mrs. Choi.”
It was San’s parents and San was standing right behind them with his wife.
“Hey you guys work for my son San, right.”
“Yes, I’m his personal assistant and Wooyoungs the manager of the design department of the company.”
You spoke, with a bright smile.
“Yeah, when I retire I’m giving my business to Wooyoung, but for now he’ll still be working there. And he looks like he’s found a wife to accompany him when I make him the ceo. Then you can be Wooyoung's personal assistant.”
Wooyoung's father spoke, patting Wooyoung on the back and winking at you. You chuckle and Wooyoung looks away blushing.
San on the other hand looks like he can rip someone’s head off their body. He stormed off towards the bar letting go of his wife’s hand. She followed behind San like his little tail.
“What’s his problem?”
You mumble out.
“I don’t know?”
Wooyoung says and squeezes your hand.
“It’s not our problem anyway. Do you want to go home now?”
“Yes please.”
Wooyoung then took you out of the loud and crowded place and took you back home. He dropped you off to your door and before you went inside, he pulled you into a deep kiss and thanked you for coming with him.
“Anytime Woo.”
You went inside and turned on the lights only to be scared by San.
“What’re you doing here? How the hell did you get in?”
“I have a master degree in picking locks.”
“Huh?”
You look at him confusedly.
“I’m just kidding, if you’re such a powerful person like me and you don’t know how to pick a lock, it’s pathetic. I’ve been picking locks since I was 8.”
“Nice to know, now get out. I’m your assistant at work but outside of work, I don’t know you.”
“So you wanna be a brat with me now?”
He started backing you up against the door.
“San seriously get out of my house.”
“You’re calling me by my name now?”
He had backed you up against the door and tilted your chin up to look at him.
You cleared your throat and looked away, slightly pushing San off of you.
“You have a wife.”
“So?”
He wrapped his hands around you and pulled you into a deep kiss.
You didn’t respond and weren’t going to respond until San slapped your ass, startling you and making you gasp.
He slip his tongue slipped into your mouth and pushed you against the wall harder making the make out session more intense.
He picked you up and brought you to your room laying you on the bed.
“Mmh, San we really shouldn’t.”
“Shh, let me show you I’m the only man who can fuck you.”
He stripped you from your dress and took your panties off.
He rubbed his cold fingers against your hot, wet lips and you moan out softly.
He took his tie off and tied your wrist to the bed frame with it.
“San, no. Let me go, I want to touch you~”
“Look at this whiny baby.”
He took his shirt off, revealing his hard abs. Then removed his pants and boxer, showing off his hard, veiny, long cock.
He opened your legs and spit on your pussy, then slapped it making you flinch.
He hovered over you and covered your mouth pounding himself into you. You sob into his hand and he lifted you legs to his shoulder and started fucking your pussy and rubbing your clit.
He started picking up his speed and uncovered your mouth, and you start to let out soft moans.
“Sannie, faster.”
He laid a short slap on your face, grabbing your jaw, making you look right at him.
“It’s daddy to you.”
“Daddy, please go faster.”
San pushes you a little up on the bed so he can put his knees on the bed and started going faster.
“Good girl, take all of daddy.”
He slapped you on the ass, feeling himself getting harder because of how vulnerable you were under him.
“You didn’t want it before, but look at you begging daddy to go faster.”
His words made you wet and squirm underneath him.
San finally grabs your neck pounding all the frustration and desire he had on you. He wanted this for a very long time. He finally got it.
You moan louder pulling on the tie, craving to touch him.
“Daddy please I wanna touch you!”
San quickly removes the tie and lowers himself down so you can touch him.
“You like it baby? You like my long cock pounding into your dripping pussy? Bet you do whore. My whore.”
He leaned down kissing your neck and face, while you wrapped you legs around him wanting more friction.
You scratch his back and you feel yourself cumming, giving san a sign.
“Wait, just a little longer baby. I want you to cum with me.”
You hold in your orgasm waiting for San.
Sweat dripping down his face and body was the hottest thing a person could witness.
“Okay princess, cum for daddy.”
You cum around his now soft cock and he shoots his cum inside you and pulls you into a passionate kiss.
He ran to your bathroom and brought a towel to clean the both of you. He then picked you up and snuggled into the bed with you in his arms.
“I’ve loved you for a very long time you know.”
“I didn’t know that.”
“Yeah, cause you blind. I tried getting with you since the day you entered my life. Did you not notice the flowers?”
“That was from you?”
You ask in shock.
San giggles at your reaction.
“Yes, that was me. But I love you so much. I wanna be with you.”
“What about your wife?”
“I can get a divorce. I just hate seeing you with a different man.”
You laugh at his jealousy.
“Well if you say so boss.”
“That’s right, I’m your boss”

Secret Tunnels & Surprise Visits
Mike hadn’t had a week off in nearly two years, and he wasn’t quite sure what to do with it.
He’d slept as late as he could, but that had only taken him to 1pm, and most of his siblings had extra curricular activities that would keep them out until at least 6pm. His mother was working until at least then, when she picked up the kids, and Sasha’s curfew wasn’t until 11pm (and boy, did she wring it for every minute she could get). He’d tried cleaning up around the house, but that had only taken up part of his Thursday, and as much as his mother had appreciated his hard work, it hadn’t been enough to satisfy the itch in his idle hands.
The pizzeria was being renovated that weekend, and was closed from Thursday to the following Wednesday, so Mike had a good full six or seven days all to himself. Already out of things to do around the house after day one, he’d decided to tackle the one task he (and everyone else in the house) had been putting off for years.
Organizing the basement.
“You have a lot of stuff down here.” Puppet commented as he climbed up on top of an old gear locker shoved against the stairs. A pair of old workout gloves and a rolled up mat were still stuffed in it, along with a set of resistance bands. Mike made a point not to look at it. “Like, a LOT a lot.” The slender animatronic that had taken up residence under his bed poked at the curling edge of an old sticker on the side of the locker. “Don’t you guys throw anything out?”
“Does it look like it?” Mike asked rhetorically as he surveyed the mess. Where was the best place to start? Christmas ‘91? His old college stuff? That box of yearbooks that stretched all the way back to Tara’s freshman year of high school? “That’s what we’re down here to do today - pare down all this junk and get rid of the stuff we really don’t need.”
“That’s easier said than done…” Puppet eyed the mess from his perch up on the locker before jumping down, and curiously opening the nearest box. “You’ve got more stuff down here than the old location had in storage….oh!” The little animatronic leaned over the edge of the large box - almost falling in - before scrambling back out with a little box clutched in his striped fingers, and a wide smile on his mask.
“Hey! I remember these!!” He popped open the lid and ran a cloth fingertip over the enamel pins on the board inside while Mike picked another box in a stack across the room, and started to dig through it. “These are the commemorative pins from 1987! They had me give these to employees as a gift at a big party!” Puppet tilted his head curiously. “How’d they get down here?”
“The night shift isn’t the first time I’ve worked for Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, you know.” Mike made a face at the musty books inside the box he’d chosen, and closed it back up. His mother still might want to donate these to the library - best to just set these aside, for now. “I spent a few months making pizzas for the other location across town before I went to college. I was out sick when that party happened, but management gave me those pins the next day.”
“You mean...we could’ve met sooner?” Puppet looked down at the old pins - at the cutesy, cartoony faces of Freddy, Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, and the pizzeria’s logo - and some of his smile faded. Mike looked up from the box of old clothes he was sorting through at the heavy silence, and frowned.
“Don’t...don’t think too much about it, Puppet.” He advised, folding an old shirt that had stopped fitting a decade ago and setting it aside. “You wouldn’t have liked me when I was eighteen, anyway. I was kind of an as-...uh...kind of a jerk.” He quickly amended. Puppet frowned, and put the lid back on the box before jumping up and sliding it on top of the locker. He was absolutely keeping that.
“So?” The animatronic moved to Mike’s side, and stood as high as he could to try and  see into the clothing box. “I’ve dealt with sulky teenagers before.”
“I was a lot more than just ‘sulky’...” Mike winced. He’d been a jerk with a capital ‘J’ before he’d gone to college and gotten knocked off his pedestal. It was a miracle his parents had been able to put up with him for an entire year, honestly. “Be glad we met after I got my head on straight. It was for the best for both of us.” Puppet’s mask twisted into a frown, but Mike was determined for that to be the end of the topic, and moved the clothing box to get at the yearbooks beneath it.
“...huh?” Mike paused in the middle of opening the last box in the stack, and closed the flaps again to tilt it back, and get a better look at what had caught his attention. Puppet quickly perked up as the young man shifted the box across the floor, and off of a mysterious, rectangular shape still half-buried by all the clutter.
“Oh, cool! A secret door!” Puppet grabbed another stack of boxes and tried to push it off the shape, while Mike scratched his head in confusion.
“I...don’t remember this.” The human frowned, even as he helped Puppet to move the stack that weighed more than him. “I wonder if Mom or Dad knew about this?” He frowned as he cleared the last of the boxes off of what was now obviously some kind of old trapdoor. “Kind of seems like they tried to bury it.”
“Maybe it leads to a secret tunnel!” Puppet suggested eagerly. “Just like in that cartoon with the dog Pippa likes!” He started to bounce on his heels, and started to reach for the seam in the floor. “Let’s open it and see where it goes!”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa! Slow down, Puppet!” Mike snatched the little animatronic up under one arm, and stepped back before he could get his striped fingers into the crack. “We can’t just open it!” He argued. “We have no idea what might be down there - there could be rats, or spiders, or-”
THUNK.
“......” Both Mike and Puppet froze at the sound, and looked down at the trapdoor. “.....that’s a big rat.” Puppet whispered. Mike slowly - quietly - stepped back from the trapdoor, and the sound came again, only louder. He dropped Puppet back to his feet, and the little animatronic quickly hid behind the human, and dug his striped fingers into Mike’s red jacket as they both nervously watched the trapdoor.
THUNK. THUNK.
Something pounded on the trapdoor from below - something big - and a small puff of dust was kicked up from the space. Mike looked around frantically for something he could use as a weapon, and snatched up a baseball bat from another pile of junk. Luis hadn’t used it since his high school days. Surely, he wouldn’t mind?
THUNK THUNK THUNK.
The trapdoor began to rattle, and Mike swung the bat up over his shoulder as the rusty lock creaked and bent. Finally, the old metal snapped, and the trapdoor was thrown open by-....by Chica?
Mike’s brain ground to a halt as the animatronic chicken mascot from his workplace popped up through his floor, looking around with a curious hum at the cluttered basement before she laid optics on him, and broke out into a wide, toothy smile.
“Hi, Mr. Schmidt!! How’d you get here?”
“.......” The baseball bat fell out of Mike’s limp hands, and clattered to the floor. Puppet flinched at the loud sound, but Chica didn’t seem to register the human’s obvious shock, and came up the rest of the stairs and into the basement.
“Guys!” She shouted back down the stairs. “Mike’s here!” Behind her, Bonnie’s ears appeared before the rest of him, and Foxy’s hook scratched at the edge of the trapdoor hole as he hauled himself up out of the tunnel that yawned beneath the basement floor. Mike sucked in a breath through his teeth as the pirate fox - and other figures that, in no way, should have ever been in his house - rose up from beneath the floor, and stretched his limbs.
“Aaarrr, ‘tis about time!” Foxy grumbled, leaning back as if to stretch out a kink in his spine. “We’ve been walkin’ fer hours! I thought we’d be ‘alfway t’ Tortuga by now!”
“We were only down there for twenty minutes, at best.” Bonnie argued as he climbed out. “Your internal clock must be broken!”
“Jus’ like th’ rest o’ me, ey?” Foxy turned an irritable glare upon the rabbit, but his expression immediately softened when he noticed the audience Bonnie had not. “Oh! Mike! How ye’ be, lad? Ain’t seen ye’ since Wednesday eve’!” Puppet looked up at the human he hid behind with wide eyes, and Mike found the presence of mind to lower his hands from their raised position.
“....you’re in my house.” He said eloquently. Bonnie and Foxy both tipped their ears forward, and looked around the basement.
“This be your house?” Foxy flipped up his eyepatch for a better look. “It be….uh….cozy?” Bonnie shook his head and smacked the fox on the arm.
“This isn’t the whole place, buckethead.” He scoffed. “There’s an upstairs, see?” He pointed to the basement stairs, and Mike looked over just in time to see Chica’s tailfeathers disappearing at the top. His heart skipped a beat or two.“This is just a basement!” The rabbit hopped over a box on the floor, and headed up the stairs himself. “Chica, wait for me!”
“I knew that!” Foxy huffed back with a lash of his tail. The basement started to feel a little small, and Mike pulled another breath in through his teeth. Oh, god. He’d had nightmares just like this, back when he’d first started on the night shift...except he wasn’t sleeping now. He was awake, and this was real-
“I, ah, don’t suppose I could get a hand?” Mike froze, and slowly looked back down at the trapdoor to see Freddy himself seemingly wedged in the stairway opening. Behind him, he could also see the glow from Sam’s LED hat band, somewhere back within the tunnel. “I’m not as slim as the rest of you, you know!” The bear admitted.
“Aye, let’s get’che out o’ there.” Foxy reached out with his good hand to grab Freddy’s and started to pull, with Sam - presumably - pushing from behind. After a few more seconds of staring, Puppet edged out from behind Mike to help. Mike, however, remained frozen in place, and a few shades paler than he probably should have been as he tried to comprehend how one of his darkest nightmares was becoming reality right before his eyes-
“Oh, wow!” Chica’s voice echoed from somewhere upstairs - somewhere on the second floor. “It looks like Parts & Services up here, only better lit! Bonnie, you have to come see this!”
“That’s my-! Oh no.” Mike’s eyes popped wide, and he finally broke out of his frozen stupor to bolt for the stairs, leaving Puppet, Foxy, and Sam alone to try and pry the pizzeria star out through the too-small trapdoor in the floor. “That’s my room! Don’t touch anything!”
He passed Bonnie in the living room, seemingly enamoured by the many framed photos hung up behind the couch, and nearly tripped running up the stairs before he caught himself on the banister. It wasn’t until he’d made it up to the landing and thrown open his bedroom door that Mike realized that he...had no real plan for confronting the animatronic inside. He froze again in the doorway, panting, and struggling for words as Chica ‘ooh’ed and ‘ahh’ed over the variety of drawings and unfinished projects strewn about his desk.
“Whoa!!!” Chica picked up a pipe-and-wire hand model that he’d given up on three months ago, and cradled it in her hands with the reverence of a child holding a coveted toy for the first time. “This is just like our endoskeletons! Mr. Schmidt, I didn’t know you could build things!”
“I-. Uh. Um.” The unexpected praise made it even harder for Mike to find his words, and he stumbled for an embarrassingly long time before he heard the creaking of the stairs, and felt a towering presence at his back.
“Oh, neat!” Bonnie pushed his way into the room, causing Mike to stumble forward, as well, and gleefully batted at the punching bag still hanging from the ceiling next to his bed. “Heheh, what’s this thing? Does it make noise?”
“No, it-. It doesn’t make noise.” Mike reached out a hand to stop the bag from swinging, and hoped the feeling of the synthetic leather against his hand would help snap him back to reality. It didn’t do much. “It’s for hitting.”
“Oh.” Bonnie seemed to lose interest at this answer, and turned to face Chica, who had moved on to looking at the posters and pictures hanging on the wall. “Oh!” Bonnie zeroed in on one in particular, and Mike winced internally. “Who’s this kid? I haven’t seen them at the pizzeria before.”
“Yeah, you have. That’s, uh.” Mike found himself wishing he’d never framed that dumb childhood photo. “That’s me.”
“That’s you?!” Bonnie and Chica both crowded around the frame, now, and Mike prayed to any deity listening that his floor would hold under them. “Aww! You used to be so cute!”
“Bonnie!” Chica gasped, and tweaked one of the rabbit’s ears. “That’s so rude! He’s still cute!”
“......” Mike pressed both hands over his face, and leaned back until he was sitting on his bed as the two animatronics began to squabble.
Maybe, if he just sat here for long enough, his brain would get tired of this nightmare, and he’d wake up?

Birth Story
We tried many natural labour inductions methods to support our due date of Wednesday 24 March including; x3 acupuncture, x2 shiatsu massage, sex, long walks, raspberry leaf tea, dates, prune juice, and spicy food.
We gave birth to a beautiful healthy boy at 7:29pm Saturday 3 April 2021 (Easter weekend) weighing 3.27kg and measuring 51cm.
Our hospital offered us a debrief session with the head nurse and potentially obstetrician.
Short version
Having done a stretch and sweep earlier in the week on Monday at 1cm dilated, we were admitted to hospital on Friday evening to commence induction with prostaglandin gel. On Saturday morning in the birthing suite my waters were broken and oxytocin commenced an hour later since I hadn’t progressed beyond 1cm dilation. I was administered an epidural so I wouldn’t feel the contractions but knew they were happening via being hooked up to an Electric Fetal Monitoring (EFM) machine. I progressed to 4cm dilation and later 8cm dilation however each vaginal exam caused baby’s heart rate to drop. This called for an emergency caesarean as it was later found baby’s head was swollen and in malposition slightly transverse. The operation caused a postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) on my uterus where I lost over 1L blood. After being wheeled into recovery, I was then able to have baby placed on me for skin to skin. Once back in the room, drugs had worn off and I could feel one slow contraction for approximately 1.5 hours which was the worst pain of my life. The days following the birth was all about recovery and breastfeeding. I had two units of blood transfusion and iron infusion to try restore my hemoglobin levels which were halved. I had managed to stand up in the shower, do a poo and by the end of the week, walk down the hallway. Breastfeeding is a challenge with no milk supply so there were many discussions about progress each day and using donor milk and formula through supplemental devices to avoid bottle feeding. We were ready to head home Thursday morning after being in the hospital for almost a week. I cannot appreciate enough having flowers in my room since I didn’t leave it for days!
Long version
On Monday 29 March being 40w5d we went into the birthing suite to do a stretch and sweep. This was very uncomfortable as I squeezed my partner’s hand and looked into his eyes. One of the midwives was helpful in reminding me about hypnobirthing breath. Our obstetrician advised that I was 1cm dilated so hopefully baby would arrive soon. The midwife showed us a stretch to help relax my pelvis.
Our obstetrician wanted us back for induction on Wednesday or Thursday because of Easter weekend however we asked to push it out until Saturday.
On Friday 2 April being 41w2d we were admitted to hospital at 4pm to be given prostaglandin induction gel at 6pm. An electrical fetal monitoring (EFM) machine is used before/during/after. This was done in our private hospital room by a midwife and was once again very uncomfortable/painful. I was still only 1cm dilated. A different midwife returned at midnight for another treatment.
The following morning, Saturday 3 April being 41w3d we went to the birthing suite to receive a final treatment of prostaglandin induction gel by the midwife at 6:30am. This time I used a small amount of gas to ease the pain. There had been no change in my dilation.
Later, around 11:30am our obstetrician came in and broke my waters. I used the gas at a higher dose to ease the pain where I saw psychedelic colours for a brief moment. We thought we’d have time from here to continue waiting for labour to occur but was informed we’d start oxytocin within the next hour. It was suggested we go walk up and down some steps outside but was influenced to get an epidural. We had written in our plan that we don’t want this suggested and if we wanted it, we’d ask for it. So since they did suggest it, I thought I mustn’t be handling the pain well from the other procedures. I also thought that this was maybe a call to surrender and go with the flow. We had no time to go do stairs since the anesthetist was already in the hospital nearby and everything had to be set up ready to go on me for him to perform. We later found out that we shouldn’t have been rushed into this decision because the anesthetist is on call and could’ve simply come back.
The anesthetist ended up coming in later so there would’ve been time to walk a few stairs. He gave me the epidural which hurt and the midwife attached a catheter. This now meant I could not get up and leave the bed and would have the EFM constantly on. One of the side affects was feeling itchy across my chest.
The oxytocin could then commence to try start contractions. I couldn’t feel contractions since I’d had the epidural but the EFM showed I was. I was getting very shakey as a side effect but because of the calm environment, I could use my breath to suppress the shakes and try send baby downwards.
A different midwife started the next shift who was caring. She did a vaginal examination which I didn’t feel because of the epidural and said I was 4cm dilated. Moving into the evening, I had reached 8cm dilation with our obstetrician performing another two vaginal exams. Each time, baby’s heart rate would lower from having his head touched.
The song ‘Waiting’ by Kian started playing from my labour playlist. I said to my partner ‘how about the name, Kian?’. A quick google showed this meant ‘grace of god’ in Sanskrit, ‘ancient’ in Irish, and ‘king’ in Persian. All beautiful meanings which were discussed under fake candlelight in our calm birthing suite.
Now at approximately 7pm, our obstetrician made the call to do an emergency caesarean due to baby’s erratic heart rate and the fact I hadn’t progress from 8cm dilation. Everything changed quickly from here as a few extra people entered the room and I was maneuvered onto a different operation bed.
I was being wheeled to theatre and when arriving on the floor, met by a different anesthetist who was saying lots of disclaimers including that this operation could result in death - just what you want to hear. I required some further drugs for the operation so she was testing that I couldn’t feel the cold ice packs being placed on my body. She commended me on how calm I was or doing a good job at faking it! I was very conscious about remaining as calm as possible to ensure things could go as smoothly as possible.
It was exceptionally cold in the theater with many people in the room since everyone has an assistant. My partner was getting changed into scrubs and allowed to enter seated beside me once everything was set up. Coldplay was being played on someone’s phone.
Though probably only 15 minutes, it felt like a long time having the operation to retrieve baby. He came out safely and my partner got to announce he’s a boy. When I saw him I just said ‘oh my god’. He arrived at 7:29pm weighing 3.27kg and 51cm long. He had a swollen head which has been in malposition slightly transverse and had tiny cut on his eyebrow from the surgery tools. I had the opportunity to give baby a kiss.
From there things changed further, the cold had caused my shaking to dramatically increase and I couldn’t control it with the same breath I’d been practicing for hours in the birth suite prior. I was given some drugs to suppress the shaking and then the side effects of this was that I started vomiting. Because all this was happening, I didn’t have the opportunity to engage with baby as I needed to focus on myself. Warm towels were placed around my head.
My partner was able to look at the placenta which had a short umbilical cord which could also be a reason why baby wasn’t coming out.
I also started to experience some blood loss where my partner and baby left the room so staff could focus on me. I had a postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) on my uterus and lost 1.2L of blood. Essentially, once the placenta is delivered, the uterus should stop pumping blood to it and contract but for some reason it didn’t do this. Because I was a low risk pregnancy, there were no previous indications this could have happened. We read later that PPH has an incidence in Australia of between 5-15% and is one of the leading causes of maternal mortality.
Because there are numerous layers to the uterus, I was injected with drugs into four corners of my uterus to stop the bleeding as it was unknown where exactly the bleeding was coming from. This gave me a throbbing headache so I think I received some other drugs to counteract that which again made me vomit. If the drugs didn’t work things would have got more surgical and escalated quickly.
Once things had settled I was wheeled into the recovery room. Someone gave me water and I couldn’t believe how good it tasted. My partner entered the area and was shirtless having done skin to skin with baby. Baby was placed on my chest and I’m sad to say it’s the last thing I wanted but logic came in knowing it was so important for us to bond and physically connect. I got upset seeing the photo of baby on me with my head turned the other way. I was exhausted.
Following this, we were wheeled back to our hospital room and pain kicked in. My uterus needed to contract to its smaller size. Rather than periods of seconds/minutes or ‘waves’, I experienced a ‘tsunami’ of a long contraction with the most pain I’ve experienced in my life. I kept yelling “Omm” and then started profusely tapping my third eye trying to stimulate my parasympathetic nervous system. My partner was concerned asking me what I was doing. I knew I had to tell him so he wouldn’t worry. It was so hard to speak that I yelled “to deal with the fucking pain” - sorry babe. My partner reckons this lasted 1.5 hours. It took a while to get the anesthetist back to administer me with morphine and then for it to kick in.
By the time everything had settled and my partner was ready to get into the bed beside me (now that I have my own hospital bed in our room) he thinks it was about 4am.
A doctor had come to put a canula in my forearm since the nurses couldn’t do it since I was too pail. This is so I could receive some kind of rehydration liquids. I also had compression socks on which were plugged into a intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) device to keep blood flowing and ensure I didn’t get a blood clot. Some nurses tried to freshen me up with wipe cleaning on my body since I’d sweat so much from the contractions.
After a couple of hours of sleep I could eat some breakfast and then shower. I couldn’t believe that I couldn’t sit up or get myself out of bed. I was put onto a wheely chair to go to the loo where I was bleeding and be showered by a nurse. The nurse encouraged me to stand to leave the shower but I then said “I feel fainty” and fainted. The emergency button was pressed so a team of nurses came in to get me back onto the bed.
Shortly after, blood test results showed that my hemoglobin had dropped 50% from 120 pre labour to 60 now which explained why I was so pale and fainted. Apparently the minimum is 80. My obstetrician said she rarely recommends blood transfusions but believes I needed two bags which we proceeded to do that night. Later in the week I also received an iron infusion.
Overall what happened was the opposite of our birth preferences/ plan. We knew previously that an induction would lead to a cascade of intervention which is why we tried to hold off as much as we could. The hospital policy is to be induced at 41w3d. I just can’t believe that what we knew would happen, did happen. In the moment when you’re in the hospital’s care, you think it must be there right thing to do... because they know what your preferences are, so why would the recommend or suggest a practice if it wasn’t necessary or there wasn’t a problem?
The need for my body to recover has impacted my ability and confidence to produce my own breast milk which was just a constant pressure during the hospital stay. There was an overwhelming amount of professionals and nurses always entering the room to check on something or give advice on something. We relied on them to provide us with donor breast milk or formula which wasn’t always timely and was surprised to see that the meals provided weren’t postpartum nourishing. Though we weren’t allowed family or friends to visit because of Covid-19 guidelines we only just managed one hour of spare time to FaceTime family and a few friends to share the news of baby’s arrival on the Monday. Wednesday was the first time
I left the hospital room to walk up and down the corridor. Though heavily supported in the hospital (we particularly appreciate a few nurses and the head nurse), we were so ready to be discharged at 10am Thursday 8 April to get home. It had been almost one week since I’d had fresh air and been outside.
The following day Friday 9 April we announced on social media the arrival of our baby.

"So. Me and Jughead thought 'What's the worst that could happen?' and here we are. Be ready at 6pm, sheriff."
You stated, saluting to the taller man in front of you and leaving his office with a smile, not giving him a chance to say anything, in case he would want to try and resist. You gave your whole heart into organizing this party, you weren't going to give up on it so easily. Everything was ready, all you needed to do now was to bring the older Jones to La Bonne Nuit.
You knew how much he hated parties, but this was his 50th birthday. You just couldn't let this go, so you've made some phone calls and did everything you could to make this evening worthy of his attention.
You knew FP since you could walk on your own two feet. He's always been a friend to your family, so you basically grew up around him and Jughead.
The younger Jones was definitely one of the best things that's happened to you in your life. You were very, very close, but only as friends. He knew that you had your eyes on someone else since you could remember. Surprisingly, he wasn't very bothered by the fact that it was his own father that left such a mess in your pretty young mind. Not since he made you promise to not do any moves, at least not unless his marriage with Gladys is officially over. And even though it seemed like it was over, they were still married. It would be against the rules to make a move.
You sighed quietly, deciding to put those thoughts aside and just enjoy your day. You still had a few more hours before the party, so you decided to go to Pop's to chill out and finally finish the drawing for FP of his family. You've had another gift for him, but you thought that it'd be nice to give him something from the bottom of your heart and since everyone always kept telling you that you're great at drawing, why not use it?
You grabbed your headphones, a wallet and the big sheet of rolled paper along with your pencil case and ran out of your trailer, arriving at the diner a few moments later. You ordered your usual strawberry milkshake and finally got to work.
***
Long days spent on the drawing were absolutely worth it. Even your own self were proud of the outcome and that was something extremely unusual.
You were already home, applying mascara as the final element of your beautiful makeup. Next, you put on your dress, looking in the mirror, to make sure everything was perfect. Every day since you've turned 15 you hoped and prayed that FP would finally get the divorce. That you could finally make your move, change something in your relationship. You've seen how he looks at you. You knew that you're not only a daughter of his friend to him. You saw that, but yet, he still wouldn't sign the papers.
"Here's for the hoping."
You muttered to yourself, smoothing down your dress and grabbing both your purse and your phone. The gift was already at the speakeasy, you left it there a few days ago and just added the drawing today.
It took less than fifteen minutes for you to get to La Bonne Nuit. You were there as one of the last people to arrive, which made you kinda mad at yourself. You greeted a few people and went behind the counter to grab a piece of paper with your speech. As you checked with Veronica, it turned out that everyone was already here, so it was the time for you to go on stage.
You cleared your throat, standing in front of the microphone.
"Hi, hello, everyone. Can we turn the music down?" You asked and waited a moment until there was no sound other than some people chatting. "Thank you."
You sighed quietly, re-reading the first few words of the speech and then looking at FP with a small smile. You knew that no matter what'd you say, he'd be happy that you're here. That you decided to spend your time and a lot of your money and nerves to be here in this moment, to make this evening remarkable.
"There's one true happiness in life. It's to love and be loved. And that's what I feel whenever I'm with you, Forsythe Pendleton Jones Junior. You were there for me anytime I needed help, whenever I was seeking validation or got into some kind of trouble and needed a Serpent King to save my ass from getting beaten up." The audience cut you off with a small wave of chuckle, "The thing is. I didn't need a friend. I needed a father. And you never failed on that task, too. I want you to know that I'm proud of you. That I'm proud of the man you've become. I'm-"
Your words, again, were cut off. This time by a loud gunshot and a bullet storming through the room, digging deep inside your chest. Before you could notice, a huge amount of blood started staining your new dress, the shock forcing you to fall on the floor. Everything started getting blurry, people screaming and panicking, you've heard someone calling an ambulance.
"Oh, God, hang on, girl, help is on the way."
You heard FP's voice right beside your ear and felt him picking you up to rest your head on his chest. His hand with a piece of clothing travelled to your wound, applying a lot of pressure on it.
You didn't say anything. You decided to use the leftovers of your strength to put your hand on the man's cheek, sliding it to the back of his neck and pulling him closer, killing the distance between you two and crashing your lips together.
'I'm sorry, Jughead,' you thought 'for breaking my promise.'
It was the last thing you'd do. Your hand has fallen limply on the floor with a quiet thud, forcing FP to pull back and look at your open, lifeless eyes. It took him a while to understand what happened. He couldn't believe it.
You were always there, in one way or another. He's been seeing you almost every day for nineteen years of your life, he's seen you grow up, go to school, graduate school, he's been teaching you about sex since your mom and dad didn't. And now you were gone. Just like that. And you were never coming back to him again.
"Oh, no, no, no, no, no…"
He cried out, grabbing you by your shoulders and shaking your body slightly. His eyes filled with tears, his vision became blurry, your shirt started soaking wet once he hugged your limp body, letting go of all his brakes, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Shh, shh, you're… you're fine, (Y/N), you'll be fine…"
Oh, hell, how he wished to finalize his divorce sooner. He could've spend the rest of his life with you. He could've protect you from this. He loved you. He really did, with his whole damn heart, but he realized that just now.
And now, it was too late.
i loved you too early, you loved me too late...

Tyler birthday fanfic 🎨🖌🎉
Welp. It’s almost Tadashi’s birthday and here I am releasing the fic that was supposed to be for Tyler’s birthday... Sorry about that 😔🎉🎉 I just can’t abandon my underrated boi. You know the drill, since Scholar was a she in Neha’s fic, he’s back to being a he in this one. It’s been a while since I wrote something so I just hope it won’t be too sucky 🤞
------------------------------------------
About one week and 3 days had passed since August 21st. Back in the day, Tyler always thought that it was nice to have his birthday during the summer break. But now that he had made so many friends in Arlington? It sucked. They all sent him birthday wishes but Tyler still desperately wanted to see them. Even Karolina of all people left him a short message. Under a picture of one of his paintings on Instantgram, she wrote ”You actually make some pretty good stuff, happy birthday *birthday cake emoji* *gift emoji*”
”Gee, thanks...”
Tyler knew that she forced herself to do this only because he was Tegan’s best friend. Or knowing Tegan, he probably tried to get Karolina to write something in a not-so-subtle way. Like coming to eat in the dining hall for once just to tell her that it was Tyler’s birthday soon. Tegan always grabs some food from the kitchen to eat it in his room, his daily routine just doesn’t correlate with the rest of his family... which isn’t surprising. When he’s on summer break, he plays games until 1am at least, 4am at most. He’s a wreck. Anyhow, it was clear that Karolina didn’t give much of a damn about Tyler. Never did, never will. To Tyler, her comment meant something along the lines of: ”Not as good as others but it doesn’t completely suck, I guess.”
Thankfully, the rest of the messages sounded much more genuine. Axel had shared some of Tyler’s work on his Tweeter, he announced that it was one of his best friend’s birthday and that his followers should ”give him some love!” Tyler is pretty sure that he gained like... 75k followers in a couple of days. The rest were pretty normal birthday wishes. Ellie and Tegan sent him some DaNk MeMeS™ as usual and Claire sent him some really cute gifs. Sometimes Claire reminded him of a really young grandma, or a mom. But to no surprise, the funniest message was from Tadashi.
”[This message was deleted]
Shit sorry.
Happy birthday is what I meant, it was a typo.
*confetti emoji* *confetti emoji* *gift emoji* *slice of cake emoji*
Oh and by the way, please come to school from the very first day this time.
It was really a pain in the ass last year, having to ask for the photographer to come back.”
Tyler had a giggle when he read it for the first time. Tadashi *correctly* using emojis? That’s huge character development from someone who used to say that ”he doesn’t need silly pictures” to express himself. And as always, he couldn't ’t stop himself from bringing up school into something completely unrelated. Tyler muttered under his breath.
”God, you can be so annoyingly cute sometimes.”
Strangely enough, although all of those messages made him happy... well except Karolina’s, the one that stood out the most to him was Scholar’s. It was really simple, yet Tyler’s heart had made a triple salto arrière when he first got the notification.
”Happy B-day!!! 😊🎉 Can’t wait to see you again in September!!! Miss you a lot, like really. Kinda sucks that we haven’t been able to talk a whole lot in the past month.”
Tyler and Scholar were texting eachother on a daily basis at the start of July but after that, they kind of fell out of it gradually. The timeframe between each text started getting bigger and bigger until they completely stopped texting in August. There wasn’t anything wrong going on between them, on the contrary they genuinely liked eachother but Scholar was getting really busy with his part-time job. As for Tyler, he was painting, going on trips in Europe with his family and some other random business. He really wished they could’ve gone somewhere together. Tyler was well-aware of how different a life can be depending on your monthly income but interacting on a daily basis with someone who had to actively go out of his way to work during *vacation* really put things into perspective. Getting ”I’m back from work!" texts at 6pm or even 8pm made Tyler feel like shit. Scholar worked almost the entire day for a few bucks and still called it a ”part-time job” while Tyler was complaining about going on vacations on the other side of the Atlantic ocean just because it was *mildly* draining. They were both the same age and went to the same school but their lives were almost entirely different out of it. To be honest, Tyler felt like he hadn’t achieved anything in those 2 months while Scholar was constantly making a race against the clock to make the most of this limited amount of time. Despite his lineage, Tyler was somehow really good at putting himself down and think lowly of himself. He wondered how his friends would respond if they knew how useless and pathetic he thought he was. He missed them so much.
Even though he usually hated the end of August because it meant that school would start again soon, this time he couldn’t wait for September to come around. Tyler’s father thought that his son had finally lost it for good. Now here we are, September 1st. Tegan should already be there at the entrance waiting for his friend like they promised, but he was nowhere to be seen. Weird.
Tyler went inside the dorms to check on his room and hopefully meet his roommate there. But again, no Tegan in sight. Actually, thinking about it now, he didn’t run into anyone he was close with since earlier which is weird because he was good friends with a bunch of flashy people. Surely he could at least find Ellie if he went looking for her in the robotics clubroom, she’s always making something new there. But no, no Ellie nor Tegan. Tyler started making rounds in the school in hopes of finding some of his friends, anyone, even Karolina is fine at this point. He was craving for this day to come as soon as possible to see his friends again, but now that he was finally back in Arlington he didn’t find anyone? What’s this sorcery?
He was ready to give up, go back to the dorms and unpack his belongings when a cheerful voice called out to him from behind.
"Hey! Tyler, good to see you again! You... don’t look so well. Are you okay? I can lend you an ear you know.”
It was Scholar. As usual they went to the garden. Why is it that they always go there to talk about their feelings? By the time they reached the benches and sat down on one of them, an eery silence had already installed itself between the two of them, which is odd. Scholar hopelessly tried to change the mood with some small talk. Knowing Tyler though, he’ll probably open up soon enough. Scholar guessed right.
”Scholar... You really don’t have to do this. I was just trying to gather my thoughts but instead I made it all awkward between us, sorry haha.”
”What? No! Don’t be sorry, I just thought that if you don’t want to share what’s on your mind then I can at least help by distracting you from... whatever it is you’re thinking.”
Scholar’s awkward smile was really cute. Actually, Tyler thought that it was adorable. His negative thoughts were making a race inside his head just a couple of seconds ago and yet, Tyler’s mind cleared up immediately thanks to Scholar’s gentle smile. His heart may or may not have skipped a beat, if not one then at least a couple of them. Surely, Scholar knows how to CPR so he’ll be fine. Probably.
”It’s just, well, it’ll sound lame because I really don’t have to worry about a single thing but... I’ve been feeling down lately. And when I say lately, I mean that as ”a-couple-of-weeks” kind of ”lately.” Which is really stupid, right? I mean, I have food on my plate everyday, I have a roof over my head, I have a family and a quite rich one at that... It just feels like I don’t have the right to be sad and yet I am. Despite all of my fortunate circumstances I still feel miserable. I think I just don’t deserve all of the good that happens to me, and I always get it without having to make any conscious effort. Is that weird? I’m not sure if I’m making any sense with all of my rambling...”
Tyler was too scared to look at Scholar’s face again. He didn’t want to get a look of pity especially since he felt like he didn’t deserve it. But at the same time, in a small corner of his mind he was hoping that he’d at least get a hug or something. However, what came instead is nine people who were hiding behind the trees and bushes. Tyler’s eyes widened.
”Uh. What the?! You guys were...”
Spying on them? No, that’s not right. Tyler had the courage to look back at Scholar and instead of pity, Scholar had a guilty look on his face. Whatever it was, Scholar was in on it too. Tyler didn’t have the time to figure out what was happening, Tegan rushed to his side and hugged him.
”Dude, that’s all BS. Having negative thoughts is nothing to feel shameful about. In what kind of family you were born and raised in doesn’t dictate your feelings, it’s perfectly normal to feel down sometimes. I mean look at me, I have it easy too but I’m practically a walking inferiority complex. You can’t be happy all the time Tyler. And I can guarantee you that we won’t think any less of you because of something so silly.”
Seeing Tegan cheer Tyler up was nothing short of incredible. The guy who was usually hunched back and mumbling became really assertive all of a sudden. Tegan was extremely convincing with his words when he really needed to. Kind of like Karolina, except she was convincing *all* the time.
Seeing the heartwarming scene, Ellie ran and jumped on the both of them, trying to take part in the hug.
”You should’ve told us how you felt right away! We would’ve told you that it’s all BS waaaay sooner than now dummy!”
She turned towards the rest of the squad, they were watching the scene fondly instead of joining in.
”What are you all waiting for?! It’s time for a group hug!”
Scholar happily jumped in on the hug, he actually wanted to take Tyler into his arms from the really beginning. But knowing that the others were already gathered behind the bushes and trees, watching them and waiting for the perfect moment to surprise Tyler, he couldn’t get himself to do it. Ellie’s invitation resulted in all of them burying Tyler... well, almost all of them. Raquel shouted out.
”Hey Karolina! I see you there, rolling your eyes like you don’t care! Get down from your high horse and get your little ass here!!!”
Karolina rolled her eyes for the second time and unenthusiastically joined in thanks to Raquel’s forceful command. After 10 seconds or so, a small voice from the middle of the herd could be heard. It was Tyler.
”Ughh... Guys that’s... enough love. I’m suffocating.”
Everyone stepped away from him while snickering, they carefully watched him getting his breath back and sighing to himself, clearly self-conscious. Then he looked at the bags full of sandwiches and other food.
”I know I shouldn’t feel this way after you guys drowned me with love and validation, but I still feel super embarrassed. I mean, because you heard all of that stuff... Oh and, let me guess: you guys were planning a picnic for my birthday and I ruined the mood. Great.”
Axel fiercely slapped Tyler’s back, making him lose his balance a little.
”Bro. Stop it with the blame game, it’s all good. You didn’t ruin shit, the group hug made this moment even better. We’ll all remember this day.”
Tadashi made a grimace, obviously about to retort something unpleasant back.
”Yeah... though it could’ve been even more memorable if you had taken a shower beforehand. You came back from a tour and you smell like horse shit again.”
Axel’s playful tone turned to ashes, replacing it with annoyance.
”Still better than someone who literally drinks shit to stay awake. And just for your info, it takes a hell lot of energy to be on tour for two weeks straight, alright?”
”Oh, so you didn’t bathe for two weeks? Which means you don’t shower during tours, noted.”
Axel scowled, knowing fully well that Tadashi has taken a liking to picking on him even though he claims that he ”doesn’t hate Axel anymore.” Whatever that means.
”No you ass! Of course I shower during tours! Hell, I shower everyday! It just so happened that I was really tired when I came back yesterday... Come on, I’m sure that I don’t smell *that* bad.”
Raquel’s face went soft and she compassionately looked at Axel.
”Dude. I’m sorry to break it to you but...”
”...Wait, do I... really smell *that* bad?”
”Well no, not *that* bad but let’s just say that if we weren’t friends I wouldn’t like to stand next to you.”
Tadashi laughed loudly to annoy Axel.
”it’s okay, don’t be so embarrassed. I’m fully convinced that your fans would do anything to smell your sweat. I bet they would even pay for it, shall we try to make a stand in front of the school?”
Axel punched Tadashi in the shoulder and while they were quarreling, everyone had already taken a seat on the grass and started eating the sandwiches and drinking. It’s weird, they’re supposed to be plain old sandwiches so why do they taste so good? Everything Claire made always tastes incredible, no matter how simple. She somehow managed to make Karolina eat much more than she usually would. Tegan was happy at the sight of her sister getting healthier both in mind and body.
”Karol, do you want my share too?”
”Don’t be ridiculous. I have enough with this much already.”
Tyler was reminded of her birthday message, no matter how uncomfortable, he felt like it was necessary to bring it up. It just seemed so insincere coming from her, or was she actually *that* awkward?
”Hey Karolina, about your birthday wish... You really didn’t have to force yourself, y’know? No hate or anything but it sounded so fake that I genuinely cringed.”
Karolina choked on her last bite of her sandwich and Tegan’s gaze went back towards his sister.
”...Really? You did that Karol?”
Neha coughed loudly, trying to shift the attention away from her. Axel didn’t let that slide though.
”Oh yeah I saw that. Pretty stupid of you to do it in a comment section instead of sending it to him privately, but I bet that you sent it to him publicly because it made you feel like it was less personal haha. You’re such a clown sometimes.”
Raquel jumped on Karolina and locked her arm around her thin neck. She was awfully happy that Miss Princess was getting called out in front of everybody.
”Awww... don’t be so shy about it Karol. It’s okay, you can just tell us that you’re actually super terrible and awkward when it comes to sentimental stuff.”
Once Karolina had stopped chugging on the water, she fiercely pushed Raquel away and tried to deny everything with her bitchy attitude. Tyler was still dumbfounded at the fact that apparently, no one else besides him and Axel knew anything about the birthday message, which means...
”Tegan, you weren’t the one who asked her to write it?”
”No dude. This morning when we warned her about the birthday party we were planning she acted like she didn’t even know that your birthday was last month. So I just assumed that she hadn’t congratulated you.”
Tyler was amazed at how much a genuine message coming from Karolina could sound so fake. He took out his phone and read it again. ”You actually make some pretty good stuff, happy birthday *birthday cake emoji* *gift emoji*” Now, knowing that it was at least semi-genuine, the message actually sounded pretty cute... in a really awkward and cringy way but still cute. Tyler slightly grinned, lost in his thoughts. He didn’t notice that Scholar was bent over his phone, trying to sneak a peek. A small sound escaped Tyler’s mouth as he backed away, startled. Scholar immediately looked apologetic.
”Oh, sorry! I was just really curious: what were you looking at? You were smiling so I wanted to see what it could be.”
Tyler’s heart was thumping against his rib cage without rest. This was definitely not a good sign. His heart was beating as if he had just ran a marathon. He tried his best to calm down but it was pretty difficult to do that under Scholar’s cute and innocent eyes carefully looking at him. As if he hadn’t just caused a severe gay panic.
”Uhh. Nothing in particular! Just... a funny Tweet like usual..."
At the sight of this incredibly dorky scene, Ellie’s bro instinct kicked in and like the genius she is, she got an idea.
”Oh! Guyyyys... Don’t you think that we’re all a little too far apart? Why don’t we come a little bit closer, to tighten the circle and hear eachother better, y’know?”
Everyone listened to Ellie’s request, some understanding exactly why she was asking for this and some... having no idea that this wasn’t actually the real reason. All the while Tyler was just freaking out over the fact that his shoulder was against Scholar’s. Oh boy, this was not going to be a peaceful picnic...
---------------------------
Wow guys look! I did it! Only about 3 weeks late hahaha... And now I have to write Tadashi’s 😂 You know what? I think I might change the formula and make it a Tadaxel fanfic just for the sake of shaking things up a bit. And there’s lots of other ships that could be cute! (While less popular) I was thinking of ClaireXNeha (cinnamon rollXcinnamon roll), TeganXEllie (tallXsmol), TadashiXAlistair (the #from friends to lovers tag on AO3 basically) I’m not sure though, I noticed that people in the SE fandom aren’t really into ships? Well, in a way that’s a good thing. God do I not like the thought of ship wars ever happening in SE...

Dream State - 19 : type of drunk?
Minho had just picked up the two boys. Hwa riding shotgun, San in the back as he drove. He was a better driver than San was expecting but was still cautious, not wanting to disturb him.
So he was forced to quietly sit, mindlessly going on his phone since Seonghwa didn’t seem to be paying attention to him. San thought maybe he could ask Mingi if something happened. Mingi, who was clearly active on twitter, didn’t respond though, also avoiding him.
Although he did expect it from Mingi, San felt worse than when they’d leave him for their roleplay accounts. “Uh... Sanni you okay?” Hwa asked, looking into the rearview mirror to check on him. A simple nod came from San, a glimpse into the mirror to make eye contact but Seonghwa was quick to look away, like he was trying to hide something.
San could sense Minho knew something was off about Hwa as well, a puzzled look sent through the rearview mirror confirmed it.
“Are you.. okay Hyung?”
Seonghwa gave a rushed nod before returning to his phone to type a message, possibly to Mingi. San knew it wasn’t a tweet because he had notifications on for all his friends’ accounts.
~
The two roommates began their walk to the party, at most being 25 minutes away if they took their time. Joong was warning Wooyoung about drinking too much, the younger arguing that he wasn’t even thinking of it.
Other than that short conversation, Joong noticed Wooyoung was quiet. Not like his usual self, who would’ve been the one pushing the other out the door, getting hyped for the party. It was weird but what made it concerning was Wooyoung seeming nervous and jittery.
Past parties he would get pumped. Although he didn’t have people he considered to be his friends he was quite the social butterfly, friendly and enthusiastic. Even before alcohol was involved.
Joong thought maybe it was because Yeosang was around, almost forgetting about San. ‘Would Wooyoung really be this panicky over someone on the internet?’ he wondered, deciding to ask Wooyoung directly.
“Where are we meeting Yeosang exactly?” they were about halfway to the venue now.
“Um.. I just said we’ll see him there”
“okay... what about San?”
Wooyoung forgot that his roommate knew about San being in Seoul. He tried his best to think of a reply, not wanting to seem suspicious or something.
“We don’t even know if he’s coming to the party...Yeosang just said he was in Seoul”
“With that tone, I’m pretty sure you’re lying.. I’m guessing he goes to our uni too?”
“Yeah ... and that’s all I know can you stop asking about it now?” Wooyoung tried to speed walk away from his companion but he was caught by the collar of his jacket, bringing him back to the same speed as before.
“We did say we were gonna talk about this later and-”    “You asked about Yeosang not San?!”
Joong could tell Wooyoung was more apprehensive about San, when before he was just annoyed by Hongjoong’s speculations about his relationship with Yeosang.
“Well I think this is about San now...” a hand now wrapped around Wooyoung’s shoulder, waiting for him to confess as they continued their journey side by side.
~
Awkward silence filled with light radio music accompanied the rest of their drive. Until the three ‘we gotta TOUCH’ boys finally arrived to the venue. Surprising to them the party was a lot quieter than they imagined.
“Maybe we’re early” Minho remarked, stepping out his car after checking the time on his watch.
It had just turned 6pm yet no party seemed to commence. Minho stared up at the apartment block waiting for a sign, ‘did we get the right place?’ he thought turning to the two still in the car.
Seonghwa joined Minho outside, San left in the car to watch them through the windows. He saw someone approaching from the right, long blonde hair with dark roots, the boy dressed simply, black jeans and a mustard cardigan.
The stranger bowed to his hyungs, shyly greeting them. Minho speaking to him while Seonghwa was signaling for San to come to his side.
San took a deep breathe in, “Here we go” to himself after he exhaled. Preparing himself for the night, stepping out to cling to Seonghwa.
Tumblr media
Ten minutes of what could’ve been peaceful walking, instead was Wooyoung confiding in Joong about San.
He was smart about it though, not mentioning the full details, like his crush on San. Only admitting it would be weird to meet the person he’s been flirting with all this time, how that could ruin their first expressions of each other. Hongjoong seemed to agree and believe his words.
Now coming up to the apartment block, they created a pact. The terms being they would leave each other alone during the party, minimal interactions. Joong also wanting to spend time with Yeosang but Wooyoung persuaded him.
Quiet, as they made their way up the flight of stairs to the party. The faintest sound of music was heard as they ascended. Wooyoung could already tell the party was arranged by ‘the snobs’ from the arts department.
Arriving at the door, they both shook hands sealing their agreement before entering. Heading in different directions as soon as they stepped through the doorway, greeted by the people around, Wooyoung recognized some from his classes.
He knew Hongjoong had his own friends from his music course, seeing his white-haired friend find his way to Byounggon.
Now not having to worry about his hyung, Wooyoung was set on finding Yeosang.
Before he could, Hyunjin entered gaining some attention. Unexpectedly the ‘prince’ came from behind Wooyoung, to speak to the startled boy.
“Sorry didn’t mean to scare you Wooyoung.. it’s good to see you! how have you been?” Hyunjin started after a small giggle at Woo’s surprised reaction. Wooyoung gave a plain “good and you?”, while trying to escape Hyunjin’s conversation but Hyunjin followed beside him.
“I was wondering what English classes you’re taking this year? maybe we’ll see each other around?”
Wooyoung gave a patient smile while answering the questions, still on the look out for Yeosang.
Once Hyunjin got his response he excused himself, leaving Wooyoung’s side with a pat on the back. Wooyoung kept his eyes on Hyunjin, seeing the boy dashing to his friends, surprised to see Yeosang sat at the couch Hyunjin was approaching.
Yeosang stood from his seat once he noticed Wooyoung staring back at him. They were reunited with a hug, rushing into each others arms with wide smiles.
“You could’ve texted me! I was starting to think you got kidnapped, which is more of a possibility at this time of night”
“Pfft .. you’re starting to sound like me now, but I’m here now!”
Yeosang paused for a second, eyebrows raised when asking, “and who was your friend you were talking to?”, his straight face quickly faded to a mischievous smile.
“Not a friend, it was just Hyunjin”
“I remember you calling him royalty”
“Why? are you jealous?” Wooyoung returned a cheeky smile, nose scrunched, face nearing the other’s, who giggled with embarrassment while shaking his head to reply. The drink in his hand threatening to spill due to his movement. Wooyoung noticed, helping Yeosang steady his hand by holding it.
When Yeosang calmed he was still tainted red, hands touching, his only thought was hoping people hadn’t noticed his awkward-self.
Hands still held, Wooyoung pulled Yeosang along to the kitchen to grab a drink of his own.
“So tell me what kind of drunk are you? I need to know before I start hanging out with you all night”
“I won’t get drunk, it doesn’t seem like the party to get drunk but if you really need to know... I get quite giggly? and kinda touchy”
Wooyoung gave a quick wink as a response after pouring his own drink. Yeosang a bit panicked, pushed him away playfully at the gesture.
“and for your info, the snobby class reps from my department organized this, that’s why it seems more like a formal event than a college party.” Wooyoung told, taking a sip of his drink, beer was provided but he indulged in some cheap white wine, noticing Yeosang had some.
“Ahh...” Yeosang nods as they began walking around the somewhat crowded apartment to find a vacant area. “What did you do with Mingi by the way?” Yeosang whispered in the others ear.
Wide eyes from Wooyoung in reply, quickly getting on his phone, first checking his notifications.

Man Under the Makeup Pt. 3
Arthur Fleck/Joker x Female Reader series
Warnings- Cursing, mention of carrying a weapon for protection, sad conversation
You can find the other parts RIGHT HERE and through the “Man Under the Makeup” tag lovelies!💘
Tumblr media
Come 6pm, you were strolling to meet up with Arthur. Around this time, the sun normally sets, allowing you to walk just before the darkness of the night hits. How thoughtful of him not to have you roaming around too late. He of anyone would know these streets, after all. Although you can handle yourself, never leaving your home without your blade and some mase.
Few people seem to be making their way home after a grind filled day. Also those, who for a fact are heading straight to the bar. Judging by their distressed faces, they're in for a large amount of drinks throughout the night.
You're going through the route you normally take for work, keeping an eye out. Walking around the large piles of garbage scattered on some parts of the side walk. Covering your nose from the wretched odors which littered the air. These streets were disgusting! No wonder everyone in the city is pissed.
As you're nearing the spot you and Arthur encountered, you find him standing there waiting. Still dressed and with make on, Joker stands there with a flower bouquet. You find it quite cute how he's patiently awaiting your arrival.
"Y/n, you made it!" He starts excitedly.
"Of course I have," you reply, "why wouldn't I? Hope I haven't kept you waiting too long."
He offers you the flowers. "Not at all."
"For me? Why, thank you." Taking the bouquet made of various roses and lilies, you catch glimpse over at the crew he has behind him. About 15 members, gathered a few feet back. "You brought your men, I see."
"I did," he nods in their direction, "they're just for precaution. I got a lot a heat on me these days." He states anxiously shifting the weight between his slender legs.
"So I've heard." You reply waving at the crew who acknowledge your arrival. It's only polite to greet those who would be joining you, even if it's from a stretch away.
"I'll have them keep their distance. They won't interfere with our time." He assures pushing his green hair back.
"Oh no worries," you assure, "I have no issues with it."
The place wasn't far from where you'd met. It was a nice, quiet bistro. Well, maybe it was peaceful right now considering everyone left spooked when you and Joker walked in. His men also made sure the staff wouldn't try to leave or call the cops. So you weren't surprised when your waiter was practically trembling coming over to your table every now and then.
"So, Joker," you emphasize the name, "seems like you've made quite the image for yourself."
He chuckles, "It appears so. Ya know you don't have to call me that, right? We're by ourselves over here." Hinting towards his crew behind him- sat on the complete opposite side of the small eatery. They were doing their own thing, giving you both your respective privacy. Seated directly across him in the corner of the place. So you felt comfortable no one was eavesdropping in on your conversation.
"I'm aware," you tell him, "I'm simply addressing your new persona." Smiling, you take a sip of your drink.
"Right," he adds, "I've got so much to tell you."
"Hm, clearly." You reply removing your large coat, as it was increasingly warmer indoors. Revealing a red satin dress that hugged your body nicely.
"Wow." He was momentarily at a loss for words. "I gotta say, you look amazing my dear." Taking your sight in, admiring the beauty beaming off you. Not eyeing you like a hungry dog waiting for a treat- but genuinely appreciating what he's seeing. You're gorgeous inside and out, he couldn't help but think why you had agreed to dinner with him. Dressed up all so nicely, for him. "Red is definitely your color."
"I'm flattered," you accept his admiration, cheeks growing hot with delight. "You're quite charming yourself, Mr. J."
"Charming? Me?" He questions the word, seemingly confused. Unable to grasp the concept of anyone ever thinking such. He's been deemed the worst insults, in addition to horrifying and intimidating. But charming? And what about.. Mr. J? Oh, he can't deny loving the sound of that.
"Yes, you are. It's- you're different and I like it." You tell him. "But I have to ask, what happened since the last time I saw you?"
He sighs placing his hand on the table. "See before, I've got tired of being pushed around and stepped on. People are so awful, I finally hit my breaking point. This city's lost it's way. So I decided to do something.. differently."
"And what is that?" You give him your full attention as the topic becomes more serious.
"To show the people of this city what life really is." He amusingly states. "See, most haven't quite gotten it yet. They believe I'm doing it for a change in who's running the city. That I'm going to fix everything that's wrong." The sarcasm in his tone may try to sound amusing, but his eyes show something else. His eyes are dark with that last statement. Cold and dark.
"And you're not?" Briefly pondering his words. "No. No, you aren't." You say, shaking your head slightly.
"W-what was that?" He asks scanning your face.
"Of course that's what they believe. It's what they want, right? Some bold new guy comes around to make a difference. But from my perspective, that's not your intention."
He taps his fingers on the table, fighting the urge of a laughing fit. Rising up from the pit of his stomach- catching it in his throat, before it has a chance to emerge. "And m-may I ask what you think?"
"I haven't figured it out yet," you start, "but I know fixing the city isn't the case. The riots, the mobs, the brutality- which happen to be chaos you helped reign. I understand that the wealthy politicians and citizens have their fair part in it, too. But one does not simply seek for so called better change, when that's how they choose to take a course of action."
Joker adjusts himself so now he's leaning forward on the table. Closer to you, trying to show he's not intimidated. "That's a good observation," he acknowledges, "and it's got you wondering the real reason, right?"
"Yes," you reply softly. "Look, I'm not judging. I'm interested is all."
He embraces your curiosity. "I want to show them the funny side of the bigger picture. The world.. this terrible city, this life we're living-" he pauses, "It's a joke. And the sooner people realize that, the happier they could be. It's all simply for laughs, my dear." Shrugging his shoulders at the last statement.
All for laughs? Somehow you thought that wasn't entirely it.
Something else had to have happened. How could a man's eyes that once carried so much emotion go completely dark? Grasping the fact he wasn't telling you entirely why. Maybe it was this "Joker" persona, currently preventing him from letting you in. You'd have to ask these questions when you're speaking entirely to Arthur.
"And to make that work, you had to change?" You recall. "Adopt a new identity?"
"Yeah," he confirms. "As Arthur, I could never have it off. They wouldn't take me seriously and use everything to their knowledge against me- Gotham PD, politicians, those that disagree. But not with the Joker."
"No one knows who the Joker is," you almost whisper looking down at the table. If only the rest of the world could see him as you've seen him- still see him. Maybe if everyone wasn't so shitty with sticks fully up their asses, then perhaps they could've seen the man you thought him to be. Could things have turned out differently? Honestly, who knows.
"No one," he adds, "accept you." He brings your face back up to his- which is intensely close. The heat of his body enticing you further into him. The scent of cigarette smoke and soap strong on him. Gazing onto his bright red lips, you thought he was going to kiss you.
Only to be left surprised when he quickly shys back, leaving you in a bit of a haze. He sits completely back in his seat- seemingly entertained with your response to his withdrawal. You scold him for it.
"Nice to see you're so interested." He implies with a short laugh, flashing a killer grin.
Embarrassed, you lean back into the bar seat. Damn him. How could he make you feel so vulnerable when you'd least expect it? Along with the audacity to gloat about it with his ridiculously gorgeous smile. He knows. He knows exactly what he's doing.
"What makes you so sure of that?" You playfully question him crossing your arms.
"Well for one," he states, "you agreed to meet up with me."
"Yeah, and I was half expecting a man with a lot less makeup on then myself." You tease leaning onto the table.
"And yet, here you are. Sitting across, having dinner with me." He winks putting a cigarette in his mouth. "See the point I'm getting at?"
You huff at the remark. He's toying with you, he's gotta be. "Alright then, fair enough. I'll give you that. But don't sit there and act like I'm the only one."
"I didn't say that," he sneers flicking the lighter until it lights the stick. "I know you're wondering what it is about you that's captivating me."
You hum waiting for a response, "I am."
"I like how you're not afraid to say what you need to say. Mindful for others, but you don't take shit from anyone. I admire that. And also- don't mind me saying- your fascination with a freakish man like myself."
"I don't think you're freakish," you interject. "Different yes.. But I don't perceive you as a freak."
"You don't?" His reply comes out softly. His whole demeanor eases- relaxing his shoulders. It reminds you of that shy man he's holding inside. What a shame to think he might not fully come out anytime soon. Joker could not be seen as too much of a "softie" by the public or his loyal crew. Noo. It wouldn't be good for his image. You need to be completely alone with him if that were to happen. For now, your quiet corner conversation will have to do.
"I never have." You make it very clear to him. "I never thought of you as a freak Arthur. Not before. And not now." You lay both of your hands above the table. He melts with you calling him by his name for the first time tonight. Even more so when he's started coming out of it. He puts the cigarette butt out in a small ashtray by the side.
You take his speechless silence as a sign to continue. "I've noticed you were absent lately.. As I walked by that same spot everyday, and not seeing you there- it concerned me."
He moves his hands closer to yours atop the table. Hesitant in getting too close. "You.. looked for me?" Arthur's heart flutters at your caring words. The fact you noticed that he was gone. No one has ever paid attention to his existence like such- before the Joker that is.
"I did," you continue, "and I grew even more nervous after seeing that clip they played of you on the television.. with Murray making fun of your stand up performance.."
He gently lays his rough hands on top of yours, lightly squeezing with awe. Needing to feel that you were real. To know you are really here, and not an illusion of his mind.
You need a second, looking off to the side briefly before continuing. "I had hoped that it didn't destroy you."
"Y/n.." Realizing he doesn't have to put on this persona to impress you. You look past the clown- past the makeup. Because you've already admired him from the beginning, as Arthur. Heck, even as Carnival, because that's how he'd met you. You care for his well being and feelings. He cherishes your shared moment of silent intimacy. Which is he hasn't had the chance to experience before. It feels nice, refreshing. Like he's finally being seen.
He's the first one to break the stillness. "Well, let's not make this evening all about me," he rests back comfortably. "Please, y/n. How about we talk about you?"
He is all questions and ears for you over the next hour. You inform that you're an office secretary, often working the usual 9 to 5. Which is the only thing going on in your life right now. Having moved here some time ago on your own- no friends or even family. Needing to get away from your life before. However, you'd be lying if you claimed to love it here. You feel alone, trapped. Not just in Gotham, but trapped in your own state of mind. There was nothing in your life, you were simply existing. Only staying because you felt you were part of the few inhabitants that brought some form of color into this cold grey city. But things have only gotten worse for you since. Until now it seems.
"What about you, have you got any family here Arthur?" You ask him curiously.
His smile slowly drops while he thinks of an answer. "No.." he shakes his head, "no one." How? How is he supposed to tell you he killed the woman he grew up thinking was his mother? Who only turned out to be an enabler of his previous ongoing abuse.
No. Bringing her into discussion will only put a damper on such a great night. Eventually he might indeed tell you, but not at the moment. He's having an amazing time with you. Listening to the way you talk, hearing your sweet laugh. Why ruin it?
Towards the end of dinner, you notice Arthur has hardly touched his food. His plate looks as if he picked at it a couple times. Not that it was particularly strange. Perhaps he was too caught in conversation to eat.
"Hey, what do you say we get out of here?" He suggests needing a change of atmosphere. "One of my men over there could drive us. We'll get away from the rest of the crowd. Ride through the town?"
"Sure," you freely agree.
Before you leave, Joker pays the check. Actually pays. Leaving an overly generous tip for the waiter who served you both. Criminal or not, he feels that a gentleman should pay for a first date. Mean, come on, you know the money's stolen. But hey, it's the thought that counts, right?

Chapter Summary:
There's a photoshoot and Vivia has a revelation.
Also on Ao3!
Safi had arranged for a photo shoot.
Of course, none of them knew that at the time. No, they had only got a message from Safi in the Bribery and Corruption group chat - Meet me at my house, 6pm. Bring your jackets or you'll be the receiver of the revenge plan.
Iseult was the only one who had replied. Saf, you shouldn't threaten the people who you need to complete a revenge plan. She had given up after Safi replied with I fail to see how that matters.
So, as one does when one is threatened with a plan to ruin your life, they all went. Iseult knew Safi wouldn't follow through on her threat, but she went anyway just to make sure Safi didn't kidnap Merik or something.
Maybe that was a little extreme, but it was Safi. She loved her, yes, but Iseult was not going to take any chances. Just in case.
6pm came, and they were all gathered outside Safi's house, confusing Iseult, who was a few minutes late. Apparently, being threatened with a revenge plan made one very willing to be on time and follow directions. Everyone wore their jackets - even Vaness and Aeduan, both of which Iseult hadn't seen wear the damn things until now.
Iseult approached the group, frowning slightly. "What are you all doing out here?" She stood next to Aeduan.
Aeduan sighed when she approached. "Thank God you're here. Safi said we had to wait here for a few minutes, and that she'll join us in a minute."
"That doesn't sound good."
That was when a van pulled up outside Safi's house, the words Mark's Photography painted onto one of the doors, and Iseult realised what was actually going on.
Safi, grinning widely, joined them outside, ignoring the group's confused stares.
A man got out of the van and walked over to them. "Hello, hi, I'm Mark. I'm going to be your photographer for today. Where should I set up?"
Safi stepped forward. "Can you set up in the garden?" Mark nodded. "Thanks."
Mark headed back and opened the back of his van, bringing out a bunch of equipment while the others looked on in either shock or confusion. He was clearly professional, and very good - he had all the right equipment, plus a fancy camera.
"Safi," Iseult began. "We are not doing a photo shoot."
Safi grinned. "Iseult. We are definitely doing a photo shoot."
Vaness rolled her eyes. "You dragged us here for a fucking photo shoot? In these things?" She gestured to the jacket she was threatened into wearing - God, Bribery and Corruption truly worked miracles, though she would never tell Safi that.
"Yes," Safi replied. "Now, come on." She ran into the garden, where Mark had set up the things they needed. Apparently, they weren't using any backdrops and they were only using natural lighting, because Mark had only set up the camera and nothing else. Which seemed like a waste of time, considering how much equipment he got out of his van.
Safi pushed everyone in front of the camera, and while everyone but Leopold and Stix complained about it, they did as she wished. There was no point fighting it. "First photo is a group photo," Safi announced, as if that wasn't obvious.
Mark raised an eyebrow. "What's this for, anyway?" he asked her. "There's quite a lot of you."
"Well," Safi began, and everyone groaned because they had heard this story far too often. "It began when this boy spoke over me in geography. I actually knew the answer, too! But no, he had to speak over me. So I came up with a plan to make his life hell and recruited these people to help me."
"I don't think 'recruited' is the right word to use," Aeduan said.
Iseult snorted. "More like most of us were forced into joining, bribed or corrupted."
Mark looked rightfully disturbed by the turn the conversation had taken. "Uh...Okay then?" He seemed to ignore everything Safi said, though, because he squinted at the camera and pointed towards Vivia and Vaness, who were standing at the sidelines. "Could you two get closer to the others, please? I can't get you in the shot."
Vaness looked ready to protest but Vivia just sighed and said something that had them both moving closer so they were in the shot.
"Perfect," Mark said, and took the first shot.
Leopold had screwed it up, though, by sticking out his tongue at the camera, so Safi forced them to take the same one again until it was perfect.
'Perfect' by Safi's standards was incredibly hard to meet. By the time they were ready for the next photo to be taken, it was already half six and Iseult's legs were hurting from standing up so long. But that didn't stop Safi.
"The next photo will be of the original crew - me, Leopold, Iseult, Caden, Lev and Zander," Safi announced. The people who were not needed went away, and Aeduan almost made it, until Safi spotted him. "Wait! Aeduan too!"
Aeduan came back and stood next to Iseult for this photo, too, though he had a very confused look on his face. "I'm part of the original crew?"
Iseult laughed and shrugged. "I didn't know there was an original crew. Just go with it. It can't go on for much longer."
She had been very, very wrong about that. Safi forced them her to do a picture with Aeduan, winking at her from where she stood next to Mark. Safi had pictures of her, Leopold, Caden, Lev and Zander done. She had Mark take a picture of herself with her arm around Vaness shoulders - the perfect picture of friendship, if Vaness wasn't glaring at her. That glare made Safi take the picture again and again, until Vaness actually smiled for the picture.
Vivia and Stix had their own picture taken, for a reason Iseult didn't actually know until she saw the photo itself. By the looks of things, Stix had decided last minute to place a kiss on Vivia's cheek, leaving the other girl's face bright red. Iseult found the picture quite cute.
By the time Safi finally said they could stop, they had been taking photos for an hour and a half, and they were all pretty exhausted. Iseult and Aeduan had spent most of the photos talking about whatever they could, so when Safi said they could all go home, Aeduan came up to her and asked to walk her back home.
Iseult had smiled at him and nodded. "Okay," she agreed.
Safi apparently overheard because when Iseult went to say goodbye to her, Safi had grinned wickedly and winked at her, something Iseult made an effort to ignore.
Aeduan did walk her home, and Iseult had a good time. The two laughed at whatever was said between them, or simply walked in silence. Iseult didn't mind either of them.
When they reached her house, Iseult paused, sad to put an end to it all. "Well, this is my place," she told him, a little crestfallen. She loved being in Aeduan's company.
Aeduan nodded. "See you tomorrow?"
She smiled. "Of course."
[x]
Vivia Nihar's week had been strange.
A very entertaining but strange week, anyway. She had pushed Corlant off his damned table not too long ago. The other students in school cheered for her. Safi had called her 'corrupted', but Stix had said she wasn't corrupted. Merik decided to...To what? To talk to her, to make amends? She wasn't sure, and it was strange. It was their first conversation that was, well, civil, and it was strange. Safi had got them all jackets. Jackets. They were practically advertising the fact that they're part of a group that worked to make Merik's life hell - and 'Bribery and Corruption' wasn't even subtle.
The jackets were decent, she supposed, considering what they represented. She didn't plan on wearing it often, though - that felt a bit too extreme.
After another talk with her father, Vivia holed herself up in her room and sent a quick message to theriverstix. The two talked almost every day, now, and Vivia loved it. Theriverstix, whoever it was, was such an interesting person. Funny, too. Vivia talked to them for hours a day, and it was always the highlight each day. She felt at peace when she talked with them through messages. She could talk about anything, and theriverstix never judged her, and Vivia did the same.
Though, to be fair, theriverstix didn't say that much that Vivia could've judged her for.
She got a reply quickly. Not for the first time, Vivia admired how often the two of them could actually talk. She knew all about time zones, and was incredibly thankful that theirs seemed to be the same.
theriverstix: Hello to you too! How are you?
Vivia smiled at her phone and typed another reply. Great, actually. You?
theriverstix: Amazing. Oh, did I tell you what happened recently? Because it's a funny story and everyone should know it.
Vivia laughed. This was just like her friend. Theriverstix always had the best things to talk about, and their stories were always hilarious. No, you certainly didn't.
theriverstix: I didn't? I have failed you. I shall tell you the story now.
The next message came after a minute or two.
theriverstix: Okay, so, there's this kid at school, yeah? He's super annoying. Everyone hates him. He seems to be part of this strange religion that worships himself? Idk what his deal is, not really. So the other day, he gets up on a table and some asshole gave him a microphone so we couldn't ignore him and he started ranting on about how we were all 'impure' and all we had to do was follow him in order to regain purity.
Vivia frowned, rereading the message, a strange feeling in her chest. The story felt too familiar - the boy on the table with a microphone, talking about purity? It was too familiar. Maybe it was a coincidence? Or did theriverstix actually go to her school?
She didn't reply, though. She didn't want to take that chance in case she was wrong. And it didn't matter, anyway, because theriverstix continued on.
theriverstix: Of course, everyone at school really hates him, but none of us ever thought of doing something about it until someone did. There's this girl, and she was waiting in line to get her food, but the annoying kid didn't shut up so she marched over to him, rips out the book in his hands - idk what the book is tho, don't ask - and she fucking HITS HIM WITH HIS OWN BOOK AND THEN SHOVES HIM OFF THE FUCKING TABLE
theriverstix: IT WAS THE BEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN AT MY SCHOOL
theriverstix: FUCKING ICONIC, I WISH YOU COULD'VE SEEN IT
Vivia stared at the phone in her hand, rereading the messages again and again. But the words remained the same - they never changed. They were still arranged in the same way, still said the same thing. Still talked about Corlant and Vivia pushing him off a table from the point of view of a bystander who thought what she did was iconic.
She was right. Theriverstix went to her school. Had probably been at her school this whole time, and she hadn't known.
She dropped the phone on her bed, unsure what to do. Did she tell theriverstix who she was? What if theriverstix was actually someone she already knew?
If she told theriverstix who she was, would they want to be friends with her? Very few people did.
But what if they were a friend of Merik? Vivia had no idea what her brother told anyone about her, though she was fairly sure most people didn't know she existed. She didn't know for sure, though, and that was the only thing stopping her from sending theriverstix a message saying It was me. I was the one who pushed Corlant off a table.
What if she could find out who theriverstix was? If they didn't know Merik, maybe Vivia could tell them. Maybe they could be friends in real life, not just online. But how would she do that? She didn't talk to many people - but the people she talked to did.
She grabbed her phone again, scrolling through her contacts before finding the one she wanted. Her contact list wasn't usually so full, but since she joined the Bribery and Corruption group, there was suddenly a lot more people, all of which got her number from the Bribery and Corruption group chat. But she clicked on only one name - Vaness'.
Vaness answered her phone immediately. Vivia always wondered how she managed to do that, with her social life being so big and all. It seemed like a lot of effort. "What is it?" she answered, forgetting 'hello'. She sounded mildly annoyed, and Vivia felt a little guilty for ringing her.
"I need your help," she said. If anyone could find theriverstix, it was Vaness. At least, she hoped so.
This seemed to get her attention. Vivia rarely asked for help. "What with?"
"Can you find someone for me?" she asked. Her voice sounded desperate even to her ears.
"I don't know." Vaness didn't say anything for a few minutes, and Vivia hoped she was considering it. "Do you have a name? A social media page? Or anything else to use."
Vivia hesitated before replying, "Yes." Theriverstix was a secret. She hadn't told Vaness about them - was that selfish of her? She didn't really care. "Remember that app you forced me to get? I met them on there. Their name is theriverstix."
"I'll see what I can do."

enjoy your stay (reader x Bangtan, Hotel AU)
Tumblr media
A/N: Hi everybody! This is my first time posting a fanfiction about BTS, and also my first time posting fanfiction on Tumblr, so please forgive me if I mess stuff up!
ENJOY YOUR STAY ↳Boss!Namjoon, Chef!Jin, Receptionist!Hoseok, Bellboy!Jimin, Bartender!Jungkook, Accountant!Yoongi, Photography student!Taehyung ↳Some inappropriate language and cursing. Later chapters will have sexual content.
SUMMARY ↳Working the graveyard shift at a hotel isn’t the most exciting job in the world, but your coworkers are certainly happy to have you here.
CHAPTER ONE ↳You’re surprised you were ever considered for a manager position, but your boss Namjoon seems certain you’ll be a good fit. (Note: Taehyung isn’t in this chapter, but that’s just because he’s not an employee. You’ll see him in Chapter 2 and onwards, I promise!)
You run the pad of your finger back and forth across the newly-cut corner of your staff ID card. As the owner led you through the winding halls of the main building, you had noticed that none of the other staff members seemed to be wearing theirs. You drop it and let it hang limply from the forest green lanyard and tune back in to what the man beside you is saying.
"...but you won't need to worry about that, since you won't be here during the day. Really, there aren't a whole lot of customers out and about after 11pm. Maybe if we were a bigger hotel, there'd be more customers off red-eye flights, but generally, the graveyard shift is pretty quiet." He clears his throat again and comes to a halt, clearly unused to giving the full tour. "Your job is more helping me and the other staff out than customers. I know it's probably not what you were expecting a night manager's role to be."
You smile softly at his sheepish grin and shake your head. "Honestly, I'm just glad you even considered me for the job at all. I kind of applied for this on a whim. Until you called me last week, I was resigned to working as a waitress until my dying day."
He let out a genuine laugh, one you joined in with. Although you were joking around with him, you were really honoured to be here. Not only was the job well paying and pretty straightforward, but Mr Kim, or, you supposed, Namjoon, seemed like a really kind man to have as a boss. That was rarer than a good job, and here you were with both.
"Well," he murmured, attention caught by a commotion down the hall, "we're glad to have you. Wh- Jin! What is this?"
You follow Namjoon's gaze to where the noise, a squeal from an older lady, had come from. She had her hands thrown up in the air in a show of dramatised fright, and one of them was dripping water down her sleeve.
The culprit was a man in a pristine white chef's uniform holding a metal ice bucket. His lips were parted and eyes widened in bewilderment. His head shot around to make eye contact with Namjoon, who had patted you on the shoulder in apology before storming down towards him.
Unsure of what you should do, and secretly wanting to get in on the drama, you quietly followed after him, hovering by a fake potted plant while he confronted the chef.
As soon as he asked what was going on, the elderly lady, now cradling her damp hand, screeched in outrage. "This is some sick prank! What's wrong with you people?"
Jin interjected. "Actually, ma'am, this is dinner." This time, when he lifted up the bucket again, you could see several live lobsters wriggling around in the water.
"Not helpful," Namjoon shot back, before turning to the lady. "I'm so sorry, Mrs Kang. It should've been in a food-safe container, not an ice bucket."
"Well, I never! My husband and I order a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary and instead this...this madman presents us with seafood!"
Namjoon winces, but straightens up when he sees another figure approaching. "Ah, here the champagne comes now, Mrs Kang. Again, I'm terribly sorry about the misunderstanding. We'll take the champagne off your room tab for your troubles. Have a good night, and happy anniversary to you and your husband."
Pleased with the concept of free champagne, as well as its eventual arrival, Mrs Kang makes herself scarce, returning back into the room from whence she apparently came.
Heaving out a relieved sigh, Namjoon turns to the chef. Tiredly, he mutters, "that was a two hundred dollar bottle of champagne, Jin. Was there really nothing else you could've put the lobsters in? Lobster isn't even on the menu."
The chef, Jin, gives a radiant smile to his boss. "Lobster wasn't on the menu. It is now." He looks back down at the bucket. "At least, I hope so. She might've scared the lobsters to death or rotted them with her godawful screaming."
Namjoon darts forward and latches onto the arm not holding a lobster-filled bucket. "Quiet!" He hisses. "We're still outside the room, idiot!" From his new vantage point, he sees you hovering uncertainly on the edge of the hallway. His shoulders drop and he fails to meet your gaze. "Go set up for the dinner service, Jin. And for the last time, don't go through the lobby, use the service entrance."
Namjoon joins you, hand rubbing the back of his neck, and waits for Jin to happily trot off down the hallway to the restaurant. "I'm sorry about that."
"Don't worry, now I know not to harass customers with crustaceans. I'm glad I left mine in the car, now."
The brief awkwardness of the past few minutes is worth it to see the brilliant smile that lights up his face as he laughs. "If I were you, I'd be going out to make sure those weren't my crustaceans. Who knows where Jin gets his groceries."
The rest of the tour goes well, Namjoon having relaxed more, and you feeling more and more positive that this was the place for you. Apart from Jin, Namjoon said, the other workers in the hotel would leave at 11:30 to make way for the night shift. Since you were taking the tour at just 6pm, you wouldn't meet any of your coworkers until your first day, or night, of work.
That first night comes quickly, and although it's been less than a week since the tour, your heart races in excitement when you see Namjoon waiting by the front reception to greet you.
He looks good today, which is maybe not a thought you should be having about your boss, but the other day he was off duty in a polo shirt and linen trousers. Today, he was in all black, apart from the single stripe of forest green that ran down the front of his shirt. His pants were tighter than the linen ones, and his dress shirt had a high neck rather than a collar, making for a very appealing silhouette.
The lobby itself was lighter in colour, but no less dashing. The marble floor with its flecks of gold, the deep green couches, the high ceilings. You felt slightly inadequate, glad for the fact that you had a matching uniform rather than your own clothes.
He greeted you with a warm handshake, and drew your attention to the man sitting leisurely at the reception desk. How you ever missed him coming in, you didn't know, but now that you met his gaze, it felt like the room had brightened several degrees.
His luminous grin and friendly eyes reeled you in, and you found yourself grinning back as you shook his hand. Namjoon introduced him as Hoseok, but the man waved his hand. "Call me Hobi, everyone does."
You began to nod, but Namjoon made a noise of displeasure. "In your own time, sure, but when you're on the clock you can be professional, please, Hoseok. You don't walk around calling me Joonie when I'm trying to deal with unhappy customers."
"I would if I could, buddy." His eyes twinkled as he shot a sly wink at you, swivelling lazily back and forth on his chair.
"Hoseok here is the first thing that anybody who enters the hotel sees, so in many ways he's the face of the business. You can't redo a first impression. If you ever do have a customer out and about during your shift who wants to know something you aren't sure about, just send them his way." Behind Namjoon's back, Hoseok's eyes widen comically and he quickly shakes his head. "For example, if a customer wants to know where they can go to do laundry during a long stay, you'd send them to Hoseok and he'd tell them..." Hoseok's face lights up with a brilliant as Namjoon turns around to face him, but instead of answering, just waits expectantly for Namjoon to continue. Namjoon sighs and turns back to you. "He should tell them that there's a 24 hour laundromat a five minute walk from here if you go right at the main entrance."
You nod resolutely, willing your mouth to keep still instead of quirking up in response to Hoseok's sheepish grin. "No problem, sir."
The gazes of the men in front of you slide over your right shoulder, and you turn reflexively to see what's caught their attention. A young man in a classic bellhop uniform approaches the three of you with an eager grin on his face. The strap of his hat as well as his chubby cheeks cause his eyes to almost disappear in his smile, and when he reaches the desk he leans his back against it. "Hey, boss, is this the new chick?"
You introduce yourself to the bellhop as Namjoon cringes at the boy's forwardness. His name is Jimin, and he makes it very clear with his body language and cheeky grin that he's pleased to meet you. You feel your face heat up when he licks his lips, still staring directly at you. "Being a bellhop with no luggage to tote gets pretty lonely. I hope you get a chance to come and keep me company every now and then."
Hoseok, who had been previously watching this exchange from a leaned-back slump in his chair, sits up in outrage. "I'm here, Jimin! Am I not good enough to keep you company?"
Without turning to look at him, Jimin replies. "Not the kind of company I'm after."
Namjoon's fingers pinch the bridge of his nose and he scrunches up his face. "A little less sexual harassment in the lobby would be great, Jimin. We don't want to scare the new manager away before she's even begun."
You replace your flattered and flustered smile for what's hopefully a more professional, neutral one. "It was lovely to meet you two. I'm sure I'll see you guys around."
Namjoon takes that as a safe point to end the conversation, and mutters a gruff goodbye to the other two before guiding you out of the lobby with a warm hand against your lower back. "I apologise for them," he murmurs as he navigates the carpeted hallways, "the majority of our employees work during the day, and as it happens, all of the female employees, too. The night shift has been a boys club for a while now." He anticipates your unease as you process his statement. "But don't worry! All the guys are great, and you'll get along just fine. Any problems, you can talk to me."
He suddenly turns a corner, and you're led into a small lounge with a fully stocked bar in the far end. There's a man behind the bar, looking the part with an apron around his waist and a rag thrown over his shoulder. The rest of the room is empty except for a single figure at the bar, hunched over with his back to you. He doesn't look up when the two of you approach the bar, even when Namjoon pulls out a stool to sit beside him. The mystery man is flicking back and forth through pages and pages of spreadsheets and data tables, scrawling notes here and there and punching furiously into a calculator. Namjoon leaves him to it for now, and calls over the bartender.
"This is Jungkook, our newest hire. Well, I suppose he was before you came."
The man in question flips a glass bottle of liquor in his hand with a touch of showmanship. "I'm a seasoned employee now, Namjoon. Did I tell you I got to make a sex on the beach the other day? I just about passed out when the lady ordered it, I had her pinned for a white wine kinda gal. I reckon she just had the hots for me, because she took one sip and scrunched her face up like this," you grin at his enthusiastic recreation of her expression, "like she didn't realise what the drink had in it."
"Or maybe you just made a terrible sex on the beach."
"Well, maybe if I was put on the evening shift I could actually make enough drinks to find out," he protested, crossing his arms over. You hold your gaze stubbornly to the shelves behind you in order to avoid staring at the way the muscles of his exposed forearms flexed and the veins in his hands jumped with the action. Why the fuck was everybody in this hotel so hot?
"Yoongi, would you like to introduce yourself to our new night manager?" Namjoon tried to give the man at the bench meaningful eye contact, but the black head of hair was buried in paperwork.
"What I would like," the man drawled under his breath, "is for us to stick to our goddamn budget for once. Just one month, Namjoon, and I'd kiss your fucking shoes." Namjoon cringed at the curse, but had the decency to look a little guilty. The man, Yoongi, sat up a little, enough for you to see most of his face, and flipped through until he found a certain page. "Here," he growled, finger rapping angrily at a money breakdown report, "does Seokjin really have to spend nearly three hundred dollars on chicken stock? Nobody's ordering chicken noodle soup in the middle of summer!"
Namjoon frowns and leans in closer to Yoongi. The pair of them fall into intense conversation, and you awkwardly avert your gaze to give them some privacy. The bartender, Jungkook, sees you shifting around and rests his elbows on the bench. "You want a drink?"
You blink. "Oh. No, I don't think I should be drinking on the job. But thank you for offering."
He lets out a chuckle. "We have water," he says, eyes twinkling. "Do you really think I'd get you drunk on your first shift?"
You shake your head, feeling silly that you had assumed he was offering you alcohol. "Water would be nice. Thank you."
He sends you one last toothy grin over his shoulder as he grabs a glass, and fills it for you. The water is so cold that by the time he sets down a coaster in front of you, condensation has gathered on the outside and drips over your fingers when you take a sip.
He watches you for a moment, reflexively whipping out his rag to clean up the water droplets on the bench. "So, why the hotel?"
"Hm?"
"Why is a girl like you applying for a job where the only hours are the middle of the night?"
You set your glass down. "I don't know what you mean by a girl like me, but to answer your question, I'd take any hours if it meant I didn't have to wait tables anymore. I've dealt with enough shitty customers to last a lifetime."
He nods thoughtfully, but his lips are quirked into a smirk. "Better no customers at all, huh?" He waves his hand to gesture at the empty room.
"Actually, better all the angry customers have tired themselves out with the day staff and are sleeping peacefully." The pair of you fall into a comfortable lull of silence, but it doesn't last. "Don't you get bored? Being a bartender with no drinks to make, I mean?"
"Not when I have a pretty girl to think about." Although he wiggles an eyebrow suggestively, you know you're right.
Unaware of the fact that the conversation to the left of you has finished, you shoot back a reply. "Thanks for that. So far every staff member tonight except Yoongi has flirted with me. I feel like I'm collecting the whole set."
You hear a scoff, and the fact that it's too deep to have come from Jungkook sends blood rushing to your cheeks. The man in question has tidied up all his papers into a single neat pile and is staring directly at you. You're not completely surprised to see he's absurdly good-looking too, now that you can properly see his face. He doesn't seem to be mad, just a little begrudged. "Maybe if Namjoon would hire adults for once, rather than horny little boys, you wouldn't have to deal with it."
Jungkook lets out an offended cry, but you ignore him and turn to face the two older men. "I don’t know,” you joke, “just think how much money you must save hiring horny little boys rather than qualified adults! It probably evens out the chicken stock fund." You don't quite manage a laugh out of him, but Yoongi's quick flash of a grin seems reward enough.
Namjoon decides it's time to move you along, and the last thing you see as you exit the bar is a rueful smile and wave from Jungkook, and Yoongi's curious stare. You expect to be led to another room to meet more employees, or to Namjoon's office to get started, but before you go anywhere, he gently presses on your shoulder to slow you to a stop, and leans in to talk to you in a soft murmur.
"I'm so, so sorry if you feel like the other staff members have been inappropriate with you." Guilt darkens his face. "And I would be completely disappointed in myself if you felt like I had acted the same. I'm so sorry," he repeats awkwardly.
You shake your head and give him your brightest smile. "It's totally fine! All the guys, you included, have been nothing but sweet to me, and besides, I was just joking around with Jungkook. No harm done, honestly."
He searches your face for a few moments, then slowly nods. "Okay. Okay, let's get started, then."
