March 14: Probably the best day on the mountain of the season! We got about 6-7 inches at Copper so a decent pow day but the foothills just west of Denver got pummelled with 30+ inches and it closed the highway. No one from Denver could drive up to the resorts so there were hardly any people, and no lift lines!

I met up with Rose and Bianca and we took many pillowy soft powder lines like this!

New Mexico trip: Exploring the old town of Santa Fe, takeout breakfast at Dolina Bakery, town square markets, Loretto Chapel, Cathedral Basilica of St Francis of Assisi, lunch at The Teahouse. There was no parking anywhere near the spot they wanted to have lunch so after dropping them off I circled the streets a few times and ended up parking on a grass verge at a park and then walking to meet them - this is why I hate driving!

New Mexico trip: Ortega’s weaving shop, desert views, sunset from the Airbnb, dinner in Santa Fe at Cafe Pasqual’s. We were stuck waiting around outside for about 20-30 minutes until our table was ready but they gave us some free appetisers to make up for it!

New Mexico trip: More Albuquerque old town, huge goods shop with traditional Latin tiles and tableware etc plus they had the llama keychains for $7.50 (they cost me maybe $1 each in Peru) Blake’s Lotaburger with NM hatch green chile, coffee at Cutbow Coffee in the afternoon and then coffee the next morning at Little Bear near this cool street art

New Mexico trip: Albuquerque old town courtyard where I enjoyed a coffee at Blackbird coffee house, San Felipe de Neri church, old town map, Breaking Bad museum/shop with some props and costumes from the show.

Copper Mountain: couple of tourists at the entrance, dinner at Sawmill Pizza, Copper Country concert with Cam, tourists doing the bumper boats and zip line, detour to Loveland Pass on the way back to the airport.

Little stroll around Vail resort, we took the bus down over to Breckenridge to see the troll and ride the gondola to peak 7 and peak 8, short trail at Sapphire Point, gigantic truck that we found in the Passage Point garage.

We went for a drive to Steamboat to visit Strawberry Park hot springs and a scenic hike up to the top of Copper Mountain and just inside the Copper Bowl.

Breakfast in Denver on our way up to Copper Mountain, taco night in Passage Point, Center Village evening stroll, trip to Leadville for the Leadville Boom Days. Leadville is the highest elevation town in the USA (with its own fire department or whatever the qualifier is!)

Copper summer moments: my birthday cake from Eva shared with Hunter, Clayton and Granite, a piñata from Ben, cheesecake on a stick at the 2023 BBQ Fest, a fancy bike I pulled out of the river in Breckenridge but unfortunately had to return, cat sitting Granite, my new ride from Denver - 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe.
