i will say that i find it annoying how quick mcu fans are to blame fury about every little thing. like i've seen people object to nat's "eighty people in two days" comment by saying that fury was responsible for most of them (which he was, but quite frankly a government agency that exists to protect earth from extraterrestrial threats should be willing to accept members dying to keep a hostile alien from escaping with the most powerful object earth has literally ever seen, so i actually have no problem with that decision of his - everyone in that base was shown to be highly trained and aware that death was a likely outcome– note that loki knifing several people in the throat did not cause anyone to turn and run. they're secret agent soldiers, this is their job)

BUT nat pinning that on loki isn't fury's fault. we have no reason to think he told her anything but what actually happened, as nat is as much of a professional as any of the soldiers in that base were. i don't know if that was intentional manipulation on nat's part (again, i have no problem with that– twisting the truth to motivate people to fight back against the alien whose stated intention is world domination is fine by me), or if she just made an assumption and fury didn't care enough to correct her (in which case the blame would be somewhat on him but frankly getting into semantics when you need to be focused on the actual alien threat is kinda pointless), or if nat just has a mindset of root cause->fault (which would've been interesting but g-d forbid we focus on nat's personality instead of her ass), but it's still not fury's fault that she said that

fury was one of the best characters in the first avengers movie (which wasn't like cinematic brilliance or anything but you know what it was a fun movie and i enjoyed it cringe isn't real in this instance), and people are way too willing to ignore the surprising amount of depth that movie gave him in favor of "government man bad" (which. ok yes i agree with that in principle irl but tony stark is a billionaire and thor tried to invade a sovereign nation like a year ago; you gotta make allowances for fiction or else they're all horrible)

the council fired two missiles at new york. everyone remembers tony yeeting the second into space, but i think people forget that fury took down the first one (somehow without killing the pilot):

to be clear, the world council are basically his bosses. they ordered him to nuke the city and he refused. they went and did it anyway. hill warned fury and he managed to stop the first missile himself and was also the one who alerted tony to the second.

just..... credit where credit is due, yeah? fury's not a cardboard cutout of a character, he's probably the mcu's first real attempt at a protagonist character entirely in the morally gray zone whose decisions and actions as a character are both shown in a way that also the audience to understand where he's coming from while also giving them the space to say whether they think he was right or not.

the whole "using the tesseract to make weapons" thing makes sense. he has a good reason for it too– even ignoring what we learned in captain marvel, the events of the first thor movie made it clear that aliens were out there and could fuck shit up, something agents of s.h.i.e.l.d. then established he'd known even before that. and he's right– earth really, really, really isn't prepared to defend itself against what's out there.

also, kudos to that scene in particular for doing a pretty good job of giving characters reactions that made sense for those characters (usually this is something that shouldn't need brownie points, but it's whedon, so not basing the whole thing on snark that could come from anyone is a step up). steve is against making weapons with the tesseract bc that's what hydra did (and while he has every right to feel that way and be angry about fury not mentioning that, i feel like it needs to be said that there's a noticeable difference between "i'm making this to take over the world" and "i'm making this so we don't get murdered by fucking aliens"), tony is against it bc he has weapon-making trauma, bruce is against it bc he doesn't trust the government (nor should he), thor is against it bc he thinks humans are meddling with what they shouldn't (which. sure but that's sorta our thing. we're the "hey what's that let's meddle with it" species), clint isn't there, and nat doesn't give two shits.

anyway this is a whole lotta nothing but i love nick fury and he deserves better than being written as a cardboard cut-out convenient antagonist in fanfiction (especially if the author goes out of their way to have coulson and hill be good guys trapped under fury's tyrannical thumb. real subtle, y'all.)

@rad-roche NOIR TIME! Turning my assignment in very late.

Agent Phil Coulson may not be a dame, but he does have a lot or weirdly specific things in common with Nick Valentine!

Your tutorial post on pulp covers was wonderful! But this was so many kilometres out of my stylistic comfort zone that the entire time was like agh! what the hell am I doing?.?? (And why it’s taken over a week). I found a lovely cover for reference “The Deadly September” on the archive you have linked in the tutorial.

Below is things I had to adapt to achieve a similar effect in Procreate, the reference images I used and, the worlds’s most convoluted speed-paint. (Learning new things is messy!)

⚠️THE SPEED-PAINT FLASHES QUICKLY A LOT !! ⚠️

Also I’ve listed some of the weirdly specific similarities between Coulson and Nick! so SPOILERS for Agents of Shield seasons 1-6 (I haven’t gotten around to watching 7 yet, and agents of shield isn’t MCU canon anymore anyway) and Nick’s story / far harbour in Fallout 4! (Spoilers below the speed-paint)

Procreate edits:

Totally used the back button more than I should have. I think I changed brush at least 3 times and edited the texture layers way more before it got to a point I was even remotely happy with. The brush I ended up settling with was procreate’s “Tarraleah” in the ‘artistic’ category, unaltered.

Procreate does have screen layers so was able to use that as in the tutorial, I set my chosen grunge at 90% opacity after inversion.

The contrast / brightness layer was tricker since that’s not a feature in procreate (??????), after lots of messing around I found that filling a layer with black and setting it to “soft light” mode and 85% opacity brings the paper texture I used away from the overly white tones without messing with the colour too much.

Since procreate doesn’t support per layer colour dropper, I had all of the texture layers in a folder so it can be hidden with one click, though personally I tend to guess the colour I need on the wheel rather than use colour dropper, so hiding the texture wasn’t an issue for me so much.

The colour check layer was also a black filled layer but this was set to colour mode as in the tutorial.

⚠️THE SPEED-PAINT FLASHES BRIGHTLY AND QUICKLY ⚠️

VVVVVVV SPOILERS FOR AGENTS OF SHIELD 1-6 AND FALLOUT 4 VVVVVVV

NICK VALENTINE AND AGENT COULSON SIMILARITIES (in my opinion):

Good people at heart

Multiple life shattering, personality altering crisis each.

Experimented on against their will by a group with highly advanced technology resulting in their unethical resurrection. Institute for Nick and Fury’s project TAHITI / Guest Host for Coulson.

Consciousness placed into a Synth / Life Model Decoy after their death against their will (LMDs are marvel’s version of synths with all the ‘is it a person’ and ‘the infiltrators are ruining our organisation’ that come with that) both are in highly modified unique Synth/LMD hardware

Both have killed an enemy they have been hunting for years for nothing but revenge, Eddie Winter for Nick and Ward for Coulson. (Though nobody stays dead in agents of shield)

Part of the plot requires entering a simulation with other peoples memories. DiMA’s memories for Nick and the Framework for the shield crew.

A partner that they can’t see because one of them was murdered as collateral damage. Jenny for Nick, and Coulson is the dead one for Audrey (the cellist)

Betrayed at a great personal cost by the organisation they were upholding when the org. Is revealed to be corrupt/evil. Police being in on Winter’s scheme for Nick and shield being hydra for Coulson.

Key Mission requires strapping them into a memory machine and poking around their brains/memories. Nick with kellogg’s memories and Raina’s need of Coulson’s memories from after he died in New York (though Coulson’s is a lot more traumatic on account of him being human at the time and marvel’s memory machine being painful)

Intentional memory loss forced on them by a third party. Nick’s institute knowledge and Coulson’s unawareness of his resurrection by Fury.

So much trauma, they can’t catch a break.

CHAPTER 1 HERE !

𝑫𝑶𝑾𝑵𝑳𝑶𝑨𝑫 𝑪𝑶𝑴𝑷𝑳𝑬𝑻𝑬! 100%

8:30 AM

You looked down the street and saw a shiny black van parking right in front of the building. To be honest, you were a bit scared. No, actually, you were totally freaking out: ‘‘what if they won’t like me? Oh, of course they won’t. I’m too young to be part of the team, I’m not smart nor experienced like them, and it’s obvious. They will notice it and cut me off, because I’ll clearly be the main cause of the failures of all upcoming missions. And what about college?? I can’t drop out as if nothing happened, this can’t - no, this WILL NEVER become a fulltime job for me...if- if saving the world can be considered a job...Anyway, I can affirm that I’ll never get along with them. They’ll hate me’’. You closed your eyes and took a long sigh of exasperation, when suddenly, something snapped in your head: it was as if all of your worries and fears were gone. You took three quick deep breaths, opened your eyes again and looked into them through the reflection on the window. ‘‘Ugh, my god, you should be flirting with a target and proceed to arrest or kill him right now, not act such a pathetic high school student. Come on y/n. You’re a damn spy! You worked plenty of times with superheroes’’ rolling your eyes, you turned your head to the left, and looked at the only framed picture hanging on the wall ‘‘and you always got along with them pretty well...’’

After you regained your composure, you took your favorite black Prada’s purse, and put your wallet in it. As you approached the table, you had a glimpse of your 9mm handgun above it. ‘Naah, I don’t need that’ you thought, and immediately headed for the door; you took a quick look at your apartment one last time to check if everything was alright, but after a few seconds of hesitation, you ran towards the table again and took the gun: ‘‘OOOKAY, maybe I’ll bring it with me. Just in case..’’. You laughed to yourself and closed the white wooden door behind your back.

While entering the elevator and during its descent, you strangely got more confident. Luckily, something - or someone - had rapidly ereased all of your insecurities. You knew that everything would have been fine. You exited the condominium and entered the van without hesitation.

‘‘Good morning Mrs. y/l/n. How are you? I’m Phil, nice to meet you’’ said the man while looking at you through the rearview mirror and smiling.

‘‘Good morning Mr. Coulson’’ he froze, and still today you swear you could have felt the chills running down his spine for a moment. Then, you proceeded ‘‘y/n. The pleasure is mine. Well, if I have to be honest...’’ you paused for a couple of seconds and looked him right in the eye ‘‘I’m sure this is going to be an amazing day’’ and you finally reassured him with the most dazzling and warm smile you could have ever made.

‘Very well done y/n. You just scared a poor innocent man for literally no reason, but at least you gave them a little taste of what you can do’ you though. You were completely aware of the fact that the car was full of micro-cameras and microphones. They were watching you. They were spying on you. But afterall, they were doing nothing wrong: you could easily have been an undercover agent working for a random criminal organization.

‘‘I see someone has done their researches’’ responded Phil.

‘‘Yeah, haha force of habit’’

Meanwhile, at the tower...

‘‘I don’t trust her’’ stated Clint.

‘‘What the f- why? She didn’t do anything bad’’ said Bruce.

‘‘Yeah but if she wouldn’t be dangerous we wouldn’t be spying on her. Am I wrong, Tony?’’

‘‘Calm down Legolas, she’s not- properly dangerous’’ answered Tony.

‘‘Wh- what? What do you mean by that?’’

‘‘What he’s trying to say, Robin Hood, is that she's not dangerous if not provoked’’ interjected Natasha.

‘‘Did she escape from a laboratory? Woohoo, another loosen cannon on the waayy’’ exclaimed ironically Bruce.

‘‘No Bruce, she’s not- ’’

‘‘She’s not like you’’ Steve interrupted Nat abruptly; then, he continued: ‘‘Come on guys, can’t we just wait for her and then proceed to introduce ourselves like normal and civilized people? Look at her. She’s probably scared. She’s- just a college student. But I’m sure that if Stark decided to welcome her, there must be a valid reason. Right?’’

‘‘Right’’ answered Tony while looking at him right in the eyes.

‘‘...uh-huh...I still don’t trust her’’

‘‘Ugh, oh my god- Clint!!’’ yelled Natasha.

‘‘WHAT??’’

Back to you and Phil...

‘‘Ok ma’am, we have arrived’’

‘‘Thank you very much Phil! It was nice talking to you, but...I want to apologize for before, and I really mean it! You know, the truth is that I wanted to-’’

‘‘Oh you don’t have to worry for things like that, y/n. At least you didn’t stab me in the stomach’’ said the agent laughing.

‘‘Excuse you! I would have never done that! I’m not a monster! ...Not even a Norse God’’ you giggled. ‘‘Well, it was a pleasure. I hope to work with you in the future mister Coulson. Goodbye!’’

‘‘Goodbye!’’

As soon as the man drove off, two other agents came towards you.

‘‘y/n?’’

‘‘Yes, it’s me’’ you said quietly and smiling.

‘‘Follow us’’

The two men escorted you to a large central lift. The hallway was pretty crowded to be the headquarter of such an important group of people, but you didn’t really pay much attention to it. When you entered the elevator, a young woman approached you. She was pretty tall with brown eyes and long hair gathered in a small bun; she wore a long, tight and elegant dark blue dress, along with a pair of high heels and a folder full of sheets in hand.

‘‘Maria Hill, nice to meet you y/n’’ said the woman smiling and stretching out the hand to shake yours. She wasn't just gorgeous as an angel, she also had the VOICE of an angel.

‘‘The pleasure is mine!’’ you greeted her back. ‘‘You must be Stark's agent, right?’’

‘‘Yeah...’’ she pressed the button for the last floor, the attic ‘‘we can say something like that. Anyway, I'm not here to judge nor to test you, don't worry, everything will be fine, trust me. On the contrary, I am here to encourage you. You're pretty young, still going to college, and getting to know the Avengers must be thrilling. Maybe even a little bit scary’’ and fuck, she was totally right. It's true, as usual in that moment you had the biggest ego of anyone else in the entire world, but still, you were about to meet the damn Avengers!

‘‘Is it that obvious huh?’’ you said nervously.

‘‘Nono, you seem totally calm’’ she chuckled. ‘‘Actually, I know this might not be a good time for something like this, but I also wanted to say that I'm sorry...for what you've been through lately’’.

Thank you Maria. Now I don't want to cry all the tears and water I have in my body. Nope. Especially after that extremely concerned look in your face. I am totally fine.

‘‘Oh, uhm...it's okay. I am better now. After all, I think we can consider this as the beginning of a new life for me, am I right?’’

‘‘He would be proud of you, I know that for sure’’ by her smile and her expression in general, I think she really mean it. I'd like to know her better, she is truly a kind soul. ‘‘Now come on, we've arrived. Enter alone, do not be shy, you can do it. Good luck, y/n!’’

‘‘Thank you, Maria!’’ as you thanked her, the elevator's door opened. You waved at the woman and stepped into the corridor.

‘‘Hello!’’ you shouted, hoping for an answer. No response. Fuck, now this was really getting creepy. Instinctively you tightened the grip on the bag to feel the gun. As you approached the room, you started to feel a knot forming in your stomach; there was something odd about that situation, and you knew it. As soon a you stepped out the corridor into that large, white and luminous room - that at first glance seemed like a normal common room - you had to face your real first test. An arrow was hurtling in your direction, coming from the left and aiming right at your cheek.

‘‘A test on my reflexes, really?’’ you asked sarcastically taking the arrow with your entire left hand, and stopping it just at one centimeter from your face.

‘‘Ugh, I can't fucking believe it...’’ said the archer with a pretty annoyed tone, actually.

‘‘Man you could have hurt her! What is wrong with you?’’ a tall figure with blonde hair came towards you almost running. ‘‘Please y/n, forgive him, he's just- pretty stressed lately...are you hurt? Are you ok?’’

‘‘Don't you worry Captain, I'm totally fine. See?’’ you showed him the arrow and turned your head to the side to show him your cheek. Not even a scratch.

‘‘Clint! Was that necessary?! What is wrong with you today?!’’ a feminine voice this time. It was Natasha.

‘‘Well, she took it as you thought, so she's not hurt, okay?’’

OK. fuck. You weren't so wrong at the beginning of the day: ‘I will never get along with them’. It was clear that Clint - for some strange reason - couldn't stand you. ‘Calm down y/n, it's just one of them. I'm sure the others won' t hate you like he does’ you said to yourself.

‘‘Please darling, forget about that’’ Natasha cleared her throat and looked over Clint, who was leaning against a wall ‘‘DICKHEAD’’ she said almost shouting to attract his attention.

‘‘Language!’’ intervened Cap.

Then she looked at you again: ‘‘I'm Natasha by the way, nice to meet you’’ and she greeted you with a quick hug.

‘‘Wow, I'm impressed kid. Like- literally, I mean it. I knew you were good but this was pretty...impressive’’ said Tony standing up from a chair with a glass of...wait, was he drinking- Bourbon? At ten in the morning? Anyway, you didn't really know why, but that compliment made you feel extremely confident and proud of yourself. You smiled, and when you were about to thank him, another masculine voice stopped you.

‘‘Well, it seems like I'm the only one left. Good morning y/n, I'm Bruce! Nice to meet you’’ said the man waving at you from afar.

‘‘Good morning to you all! It's a pleasure to meet each one of you!’’ you decided to include in the conversation also Clint, even though he didn't even bother to say ‘‘hi’’. ‘‘I'm not really good with presentations and stuff like that’’ you chuckled ‘‘but I just hope to learn as much as possible from you guys, and also from this new experience obviously’’ you quickly looked over Burton's direction ‘‘and of course I hope to get along with all of you in the future’’. You and Clint made eye contact for a couple of seconds and you gave him a sincere smile, but he lowered his gaze to avoid yours. You didn't want to be disrespectful, and you thought that maybe, that was the right way to make it clear that you didn't want to be hostile to anyone.

‘‘Ok kid, since this will be your new home now, Rogers and the Widow will show you the rest of the tower, along with the gym, your room, the lab etcetera etcetera, and they'll explain to you everything you'll need to know’’ and he exited the room followed by Clint.

‘‘Hey handsome, I have to do some things with Banner, do you mind?’’ asked Natasha to Steve.

‘‘Nono, it's ok. I'll take care of this new cadet, don't worry’’ patting you on the shoulder he looked at you and laughed at the sight of your confused expression.

‘‘New cadet...?’’ you asked.

‘‘Of course, you're part of the most important group of people of the world’’.

Wow Captain, I'm certainly not under pressure now. Thanks.

While Steve showed you meticulously every single angle of the entire building, he explained to you the programm of your week: training, training, training and of course training. ‘Ok, maybe he doesn't remember’ you said to yourself, and then proceeded: ‘‘Uhm, Captain, do you remember I still go to college, right?’’

‘‘Oh, don't worry y/n, that is not a problem for us’’. You didn't understand if he was joking or being serious, so you just stayed silent, but after a couple of seconds he continued: ‘‘Hey, you know that was a joke, right?’’ he chuckled.

‘‘OH- WELL, YEAAH, yeah. O-of course I knew that, I mean’’

‘‘I'm truly sorry y/n but you'll have to get used to that’’ said the man laughing. ‘‘You can call me Steve by the way. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy being called ‘Captain’, but I prefer there are no formalities between us. If you're okay with it, obviously. Oh yeah, I was forgetting: tonight Stark will throw a party ‘in honor of the new member’, as he said, so you can't quite miss it. Also because you'll meet Thor. He was sorry he couldn't be here this morning but he had some affairs to take care of’’. To that, you simply answered with ‘‘okay thank you’’ and headed to your room.

To your surprise, all of your belongings were already there: clothes, books, personal items and of course your knives collection. ‘‘Fuck’’ you didn't want them to know about it, because you always thought it was pretty strange for a girl in her twenties to have an interest in such a dangerous thing. ‘‘Well, the Captain mentioned a party...’’. You grabbed the wallet from your purse and took out a small photograph from it ‘‘Guess I have to get ready. Just wish me good luck babe’’ you kissed the photo and put in the back of your phone, under its case.

¿What if Ultron brought down Sokovia in Avengers Age of Ultron?

Intro

What if events went differently in the MCU? What if Ultron brought down Sokovia in Avengers Age of Ultron? In todays fan fiction we’re going to be seeing what would have happened if Ultron had brought down Sokovia instead of the Avengers which leads to them being defeated. ¿How can

this affect Infinity War and Endgame going forward? Now when I say those words u might be wondering “Isn’t there an actual episode of What if where Ultron defeated the Avengers? Well yes there is but that is not the story I’m about to tell you because this is an original what if created by me taking inspiration from the 2013 Age of Ultron comic which trust me this fan fiction does adapt many events from the comic and will be following the mythology of Ultron and the Avengers and the timeline of the MCU and there will be a character from the Ultimate Alliance 3: the Black Order video game. Without wasting any more time sit back and relax and enjoy this brutal fan fiction.

Prologue

In my analysis of the multiverse I have seen death and destruction in every universe like a zombie infection, our recent battle with Infinity Ultron and speaking of Ultron our world where the Avengers along with War Machine, the Maximoffs and Vision himself along with the agents of Shield managed to defeat Ultron and his drones bringing down Sokovia with it and leading to the events of Civil War due to the Sokovia Accords. However, that is not the story I’m about to tell u as this story in particular will be in a world where the Avengers lost to Ultron. And don’t worry it’s not a retelling of the events of the actual episode. I am the Watcher and I will be ur guide to these vast new realities. Follow me and pounder the question. What If…

Act 1

The events of Age of Ultron were playing out the same as in our universe. The Avengers and their allies were gaining the upper hand on Ultron and were defeating the drones. Our fan fiction begins when Ultron discovered that Thor was beneath the building and that if he hits the core the Avengers will come out victorious in the end. Ultron needed to come up with a plan quickly before the defenders of Earth could win. Sokovia began to fall down like in our universe. The Avengers have defeated the Ultron drones. However, Thor realized that something was wrong and Ultron came and punched him knocking him unconscious. Ultron hitted the core but instead of the city getting destroyed Ultron became a huge version of himself dubbing himself Ultimo and destroyed the city killing everybody in it including Thor, Maria Hill ,Phil Coulson, Melinda May, Hulk and Quicksliver. The Avengers have failed to save the civilians and retreated to New York where Ultimo will go next. The Avengers along with the Defenders, Inhumans ,the remaining Agents of Shield, Spider-Verse, Runaways, Cloak and Dagger, Midnight Sons, the Illuminati of Earth-838, Avengers 2000, Fantastic 4s and the X-mens from other universes etc. united and fought against Ultimo. Many heroes died including the 3 Cyclops, the Professor Xs, Cloak, Robbie Reyes, the Mister Fantastics, Psylocke, Jessica Jones and her newborn baby and many more including some of the villains were killed by Ultimo and his upgraded drones. The remaining heroes and villains retreated and went underground with Ultimo destroying New York City in the process with Hawkeye saving Spider-Man in time.

Act 2

3 years have passed and the remaining Marvel heroes and villains were still underground as Ultron in his Ultimo self continued to destroy the world. Spider-Man told the heroes that they need to stand again against Ultron but that without many of the heroes like Cyclops, Cloak, Psylocke, Mister Fantastic, Jessica Jones and others there was no chance that they can stop him. However, Captain America told them that they should indeed go up against Ultron no matter the cost and despite the few heroes left. Though Luke Cage was not sure if to do it as he had lost Jessica and the baby 3 years prior during Ultimo’s initial attack. Cap told Luke that this well be their chance to honor the fallen heroes including Jessica to which Luke then accepts and together they get ready for the epic final battle that was about to come. Meanwhile, Ultron was still in New York City killing any human left when he heard Doctor Strange saying that now revenge is coming. He turned around and saw the remaining heroes and villains as they were about to make their last stand against Ultron. Ultron got mad and told them that the world dies today and transformed into Ultimo sending the drones to attack them. The brutal battle has begun.

Final act

The Avengers were fighting against Ultimo and the rest of the heroes and villains were fighting against the Ultron drones. The Ultron drones were destroyed and they all focused their attention on Ultimo. They then heard a loud boom coming from the sky and it was the Milano carrying the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Ravagers who had called the Asgardians led by Loki in to help. Earlier Odin died and Hela arrived eventually leading to Loki summoning Surtur to destroy Asgard like in our universe and escaped to Earth after the Guardians sent the beacon to them. Black Panther and the Wakandan army were also called in as they had vibranium weapons that can defeat Ultron. They all fought in a colossal battle. Despite being charged by vibranium technology they managed to defeat him with not much energy left and However he sensed a presence looming and they all saw a portal and it was none other than the Mad Titan Thanos himself along with his armies who has come to find the remaining Stones as he already had the Power, Reality and Soul Stones after decimating Xandar and Knowhere and sacrificing Gamora. One by one of the MCU were being killed by Thanos’s armies. Thanos approached Strange and he surrendered the Time Stone to him before immediately ripping Ultron’s head off killing him for good. Loki then approached Thanos and almost killed him before he grabbed him by the neck and choked him to death in front of everyone and just like that Thanos had all the Infinity Stones and was getting ready to snap twice. Strange called upon the Masters of the Mystic Arts but they too were starting to get killed by the armies. Strange thought of this and told Stark that if they could go back in time and stop Ultron from getting to the core then perhaps they’ll be victorious then. Stark agreed and Strange sent Tony back to 2015 before the destruction of the city. Stark went to the core and told Thor that Ultron knew that he was here and they have to be ready for his arrival saying that if hits the core there will be terrible consequences for the entire world. Thor believed him when Ultron came and this time Thor managed to hit him before Iron Man came and destroyed the Ultron body.

Epilogue

Thanks to this the Battle of Sokovia will finish the same way as in our universe with the Avengers defeating Ultron and bringing down Sokovia with it. Because of this the rest of the MCU will play out the same as in our universe…

THE END!

And that is going to be it for what if Ultron brought down Sokovia in Avengers Age of Ultron. We saw how one moment created a alternate timeline where the Avengers lost and here was where I included elements of the original comic like the heroes and villains going underground, Spider-Man and Captain America telling the people to not give up, heroes like Cyclops, Jessica Jones and her newborn baby dying and in the end thanks to Strange Tony managed to go back and stop Ultron before he reached the core. I had a lot of fun narrating as the Watcher and i will keep doing this for other Marvel what ifs. Do make sure to be on the lookout for more what ifs coming soon. Loki was desperate to find any sense of control after his fall through the void and subsiquent torture by the hands of Thanos. The whispers of the scepter they used to keep him in line, given to him in order for him to better serve his purpose of retriving the Tesseract was only a minor comfort. When he arrived on earth, he had to gather resources quickly in order to bring his captors to the planet. And to achieve this goal he presses the point of the scepter to Clint Barton's chest, taking the mind of that very interesting mortal to nudge it towards the goals he needed to achieve.

In doing so, he manages to piss off Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff who will stop at nothing to get him back. Even if that means using the scrapped Avengers Initiative to bring together a team that could stop Loki's plans.

But not everything is as it seems, and the truth behind everyone's actions will come to light one way or another. If only they can manage to work together and survive to the end.

it’s so hilarious to me how agents of shield and the avengers exist in the same universe bc the avengers are out there actually mourning their dead while the team is raising the dead left and right like it’s no big deal. if the mcu stopped ignoring aos nat and tony would be alive but they’re too cowardly. shame.

Drawing with the Dead - September 25, 2019

Part of my Resolution19. Read it on AO3.

"Do you believe in ghosts?"

Clint's head jerked up from where he had been bent over his sketchpad. He hastily pulled the headphones off his ears and looked to his left to see a man sitting on the short wall next to him watching him sketch. "Uh, I'm sorry?" he tried.

The man smiled. It was a nice smile, Clint noted absently. "I was asking if you believe in ghosts," he repeated.

"Not so much," Clint told him with a easy grin. "I have a hard enough time believing in what's in front of me sometimes."

The man hummed and looked like he was giving Clint's off-the-cuff answer serious thought.

"What about you?" Clint asked quickly. It didn't seem like the man was going to be leaving soon, and if Clint were being honest, he didn't mind the company. It seemed like this end of campus got pretty dead after nine o'clock and he could use the break from sketching.

"I've found that at a certain point, believing becomes unavoidable," the man told him slowly, as if picking his words carefully.

Clint scoffed playfully and adjusted the shading on his rendition of the abstract sculpture in the middle of the art building's atrium. "Seen a lot of ghosts, then?" he asked, sliding his gaze back over to the man.

He couldn't really help it. The man sitting by him was plain, almost the dictionary definition of "unassuming," but there was something about him that Clint liked. Maybe it was the confident, quiet way he held himself, his kind blue eyes, or the well-fitted - if slightly old-fashioned - suit he was wearing. Or maybe it was just the way his lightly lined face and receding hairline played into Clint's predilection for handsome older men.

The smile that played around the man's lips twisted wryly. "Something like that, yes," he said.

"So," Clint drawled, waggling his eyebrows outrageously. "Come here often?" If he asked as ridiculously as possible, he could brush it off as a joke if need be.

From the smirk that tugged at the corners of the man's mouth, Clint didn't think he'd have to downplay the question. "Would you believe me," he asked, "if I told you I didn't get out much and that this was the only place I'd been in a very long time?"

For a moment, Clint wasn't sure if he was serious or not, but the upturned corner of the man's mouth was enough to convince him that it had just been very, very dry humor.

Clint snorted and the other man seemed pleased that he had recognized it as a joke.

"I'm Clint," Clint said, twisting in his seat so he could offer the man his right hand and a dazzling smile. "Clint Barton. Do you want to get a drink with me?" What the hell, might as well, right?

"Phil Coulson," the man said politely, making no move to take Clint's hand. "And I'm afraid I can't, as much as I would like to. Unfortunately, incorporeality does have its drawbacks." He sounded honest-to-god regretful about it.

Well that had stung a bit more than anticipated. Clint drew back quickly and used his outstretched hand to rub the back of his neck. "Ouch," he half-joked. "That's a new one." He glanced over at the sculpture in the center of the atrium again and tried to focus on the lines he'd been sketching.

"Excuse me?" The man - Phil - sounded baffled, but Clint didn't look over to see if his expression matched his tone.

"It's just that usually when a guy doesn't want to go out with me, he just says no." The curve at the top was actually a little rounder than he'd drawn in his sketchbook, Clint noted absently. "He doesn't pretend he's a ghost."

Phil didn't say anything for a moment, so Clint brought his pencil back up with his left hand to gently correct the shape. He'd barely started, though, when a movement caught the corner of his eye. Phil had leaned in and placed one hand gently on Clint's elbow.

Normally, that wouldn't be cause for alarm. However, normally, Clint would have sensed someone leaning into his personal space. And normally, he'd be able to feel where Phil's hand rested on his arm.

Clint stared at the place where his eyes were telling him Phil Coulson was touching him and his arm was telling him Phil damn well was not. His lifted his right hand hesitantly and placed it over Phil's fingers. If Phil were a tangible, physical person, Clint would be clutching at his hand like an Austen heroine. As it was, his fingers hovered over space his eyes were insisting shouldn't be empty before he laid his fingers flat on his own arm.

Immediately, a cold tingle rushed through his hand, instantly putting it to sleep, pins and needles and all.

Clint swore and pulled his hand back abruptly. Phil flinched away as well. Clint shook his hand a few times and swore again as the pins and needles played havoc with his pain perception. "Sorry," he managed, flexing his hand twice to try and dispel the sharp tingling.

"No need to apologize," Phil said. "It's hardly the first time."

He sounded sad. Clint looked over at him to find Phil inspecting his own hand. There was a slump to his shoulders that he could have sworn hadn't been there a few minutes earlier.

"Hey," Clint said softly, his own fading pain forgotten. If Phil had been physical, Clint would have bumped shoulders with him. (Then again, if Phil had been physical, Clint wouldn't have needed to.) "You okay?"

Phil straightened up. "Of course." He straightened his cuffs, carefully not looking in Clint's direction.

Clint had just opened his mouth to say something reassuring (what, he had no idea), when his phone buzzed. Since there were only a few people who might have been texting him this late at night, he pulled his phone out and glanced at it. It was an SOS from Nat.

Before he could have a heart attack (and, boy, wasn't that joke less funny with apparently an honest-to-god ghost sitting right next to him), a second text came through. Apparently she and Bucky had just entered one of the "off" phases of their on-and-off relationship and his presence was required.

Clint sighed and muttered, "Great timing there, Nat." He shot her a quick acknowledgement and looked back over at Phil, who seemed to be attempting to memorize the abstract sculpture if the intensity of his gaze was any indication. His shoulders were stiff.

"Sorry," Clint apologized, closing his notebook and starting to put his drawing supplies back in his backpack. "My best friend just broke up with her boyfriend again and could use some help practicing her knife throwing."

Now Phil just looked concerned. "Are you sure that's the safest..." He trailed off.

Clint didn't notice; he was half-bent-over, trying to squeeze the sketchpad into his backpack. "Nah, it's fine. I was in the circus and I think she was a Russian assassin in a previous life, so we've got it covered." He straightened up and stood, swinging his bag onto his shoulder. "Anyway, I should really be heading out." He hesitated. "Will I see you again?"

Phil was staring at the backpack slug over one shoulder. "You're a student?" he asked faintly.

"Uh, yeah," Clint frowned. "Just started a couple weeks ago." Phil's expression was becoming increasingly dismayed. Clint hitched his bag higher and tried not to let it get to him.

"I usually only talk to the professors," Phil explained. "I thought you were older. An artist-in-residence at the very least." He looked distressed.

Clint had the sinking feeling that now Phil wouldn't want to get a drink with him even if he were physically capable of it. "It's cool," he lied. "I know I'm a bit older than the typical freshman. It was the circus," he added, desperate to explain. "They weren't big on traditional schooling and I had to take some extra time to get caught up." Clint focused on the floor of the atrium and hoped his face wasn't as warm as it felt. Did he really try to reassure the handsome ghost haunting the art building that he wasn't too young to hang out with because he'd been too stupid to get into college at 18?

"Clint."

Clint glanced up again and Phil looked uncomfortable. Before he could say anything, the phone in his hand buzzed again.

"I've got to go," Clint said. "Apparently Nat needs Rocky Road to go with her target practice." He tried to give Phil a smile, but he was pretty sure it came out sad and wonky. "Anyway," he added unnecessarily.

Phil didn't say anything, so Clint took that as his cue to go.

"Clint," Phil said again.

Clint turned back to see him standing next to the low wall where the pair had been sitting. He looked decisive. "Yeah?"

"I can't get a drink with you," the ghost of Phil Coulson told him. "But I would enjoy talking to you again, if that's something you would like." He held Clint's gaze steadily, but Clint could have sworn he saw a hint of a blush on the top of his cheeks.

Clint gave Phil another smile, this one wider and more sincere. "I'd like that."

They looked at each other across the atrium for a moment before Clint threw a hand in the air in a jaunty wave and turned to go. "See you around, Phil," he called.

He didn't look back, but Clint could have sworn he heard an affectionate sigh behind him.

Luke Skywalker is looking for Jedi artifacts he can use to help build a curriculum for the school he seeks to create. Not that he knows where it will be. Or how to find pupils. But then he runs into a shiny stranger whose beskar armor makes him a null space in the Force. And he doesn't know who Luke is. Intrigued (and in need of parts to repair his ship), he Skywalkers his way into tagging along on the latest bounty.

Look, I'm pretty far gone on this ship so my judgment is super suspect, but 300K words and I still like a story? It has to be good. If I have to nitpick I can say I would've preferred a more splashy romantic ending but again - 300K words.

okay ( possibly controversial ) opinions and random thoughts about civil war bc i can !! beware tony stark stans and actually just mcu stans in general possibly, bc ive been seeing stuff on my dash and i have ~thoughts~

- k, starting off with why no one READ the accords ?? maybe they did and we didn’t get to see a shot bc boring but pls marvel you could’ve flipped a five second shot to each character reading with a facial reaction. but also like individual stances pls, not just pick a side, lowkey not that realistic

- also we will be getting into agents of shield knowledge here, some people don’t consider it canon, i do, go pull your head out of feige’s asshole <3 ( lovingly, jokingky she said )

- in agents of shield, it required every person/being that had a genetic mutation that led to them being powered ( basically anyone who couldn’t take away their powers then get them back like peter parker getting bit by the spider, he can’t get un-bit ) to be registered with the government, tracked by the government, monitored, surveillance, the whole sha bang. some heroes, that’s not a problem for ex, the ones that wear a suit and can take it on and off. but the ones that have it in their blood and body ? they are forced into this. this is why i was kinda iffy with tony on this, not everyone is the same kind of superhero and what may apply to someone does naturally apply to another. like bro, you can stop, some ppl can’t.

- but also they were required to submit both their secret superhero identities and real identities for reg. it is incredibly dangerous for the world to know exactly who a powered individual is, there was an organization called the watchdogs in agents of shield that was hellbent on eliminating a breed of powered people called in humans and this information was leaked from the government, leading to the loss of many lives. like there were nationwide blackouts and purges to kill in humans with the information that was leaked, it obvi wasn’t safe.

- tony stark blackmails peter parker into fighting for him, a 15 year old kid, by threatening to reveal his new and somewhat unstable secret identity to aunt may. what the fuck. we all saw that right ?

- i’m uncomfortable with how wanda was the scapegoat for lagos, other people fueled this accident, it wasn’t just her. the news just kept going on and on ?? like i feel like ppl took advantage of the fact she’s powered and used that for anti propaganda

- stop. bashing. sharon. carter. yeah it’s a little weird she kissed the same guy as her aunt, but who fucking cares? steve knew peggy for a few yrs, she was supposed to move on, at this point, she doesn’t own him.

- tony only gets involved with “taking responsibility for our actions” when this american kid dies. he heard a sad story and he’s ready to just go 180 ?? sir. so many ppl died in nyc, why now, what did you do the.

- THE RAFT. the prison for super villains ? yeah let’s just stick half the avengers in there.

- WANDAS SHOCK COLLAR. BAD. BAD. BAD. INHUMANE. TORTURE.

- tony exposed clint’s family to the government. y’know the secret family ? emphasis on secret !

-im not your #1 steve rogers stan or anything but yes my initial reaction was to be on team cap bc i consider myself to have somewhat of a moral code and like if u can help someone !! then !! help !! i was totally with him on this even tho i believe they need some kind of nick fury / phil coulson ( who’s honestly technically still alive and able to do the job ) to babysit them. i didn’t like how everyone was fine being told when they can and can’t help, they’re heroes because of their natural instinct to help ppl :((

-i want it addressed at some point how bucky felt about being the one who made howard kick the bucket. idk if they were close or anything but like ?? they both worked with steve on the same team and war kinda brings ppl together, so like how did he feel watching himself kill one of his friends from his life when everything was easier ? unwillingly severing another tie to bucky barnes and releasing the winter soldier

Secret Cameo of WandaVision

Paul Bettany basically said in an interview that there would be “fireworks” between him and the cameo, it would be a game changer, and it is someone he has always wanted to work with, implying he never has before. Elizabeth Olsen said it would rival Luke Skywalker in Mandalorian, so it has to be fan service-y.

Evan Peters as Pietro/Peter Maximoff/Quicksilver: it was confirmed the cameo has not shown up yet. So not him.

Ian McKellan as Erik Lensherr/Magneto: no; has worked with Paul before.

Michael Fassbender as Erik Lensherr/Magneto: has not worked with Paul, would be a game changer, and could easily be antagonistic towards Vision. but might not be fanservicey enough. so maybe not.

Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier: unless I am wrong about working with Paul, checks all boxes. except I don’t see how he could be antagonistic towards Vision

James McAvoy as Charles Xavier: look to Patrick Stewart. Also, might not be as fan servicey as Patrick.

Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange: idk how the 2 could get in a fight, but it would prob be bec Vision would defend Wanda. Game changer possibly because this could also be start of multiverse. Has never had a scene with Paul, I don’t think. And even if he has, they never have in the MCU, which could be big to Paul. Wanda is confirmed for Doctor Strange 2. idk if it rivals Luke though.

Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider: game changing, confirms Mephisto exists and reaffirms the existence of Agents of SHIELD. Will make more fans watch it once it streams on D+. also sets up more mystical/horror stuff (doctor strange 2 and blade could benefit from that). I don’t think he’s worked with Paul before. Dude fought literally everyone he met in AoS, i would not be surprised if he fought Vision, even if only a little bit. He could also attempt to bring Vision back to the realm of the dead, where he belongs. He could be there to stop Agatha and Mephisto since that’s pretty characteristic of the Ghost Riders. Also the Darkhold may have been in Ep 7 and last we saw Robbie, he was hiding the Darkhold so that would be a good reason to put him in. But very few people watching WandaVision have seen AoS so this cant rival Luke.

Nicholas Cage as Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider: doesn’t tie in AoS, but does much of what Gabriel Luna would. And ties in multiverse. But idk if it’s fan servicy enough. And he worked with Paul before.

Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson: I’M NOT CAUGHT UP ONLY UP TO SEASON FOUR DO NOT TELL ME IF HE DIES OR ANYTHING. like i said, love to see AoS tied in. would break the internet. everyone loves coulson. AoS fans would be screaming, and everyone who thought he’s been dead since avengers would be screaming. and convinces more people to watch aos. I would pay to see Coulson deck Hayward. but yeah, fan service ablaze. could potentially be game changing since it reintroduces SHIELD and himself and brings Inhumans into more light, something lacking in most of the MCU. Clark and Paul were in IM1 and Avengers together, but never together (Paul was only Jarvis, and Jarvis never spoke while Coulson was in the room w/ Tony and Pepper). I would kill for Coulson to be the cameo.

John Krasinski as Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic: would be game changing, introducing Fantastic 4. I don’t believe they’ve worked together before. Would possibly break internet btw Fantastic 4 and Krasinski being awesome. But...I really don’t think they should introduce him in WandaVision. I think it should be later.

Tom Hiddleston as Loki: Ep 7′s commercial confirmed the use of the word Nexus in the MCU. In the comics, Nexus Beings had some control over the multiverse. Wanda was one of them. They were watched over by the TVA. And wouldn’t you know, Loki appears to be working with the TVA in his series. Fan service galore because he’s frickin Loki. While they have been in Avengers 1 and 3 together, they didn’t share scenes, so they haven’t worked together. Would be a game changer, enforcing the Nexus stuff.

RN i want either Coulson or Loki, but who knows? I really don’t know what will happen
