Throwback Thursday/obligatory salon chair comparison! The girl on the left knew this new life would come. It’s why she took the picture, but actually living it is beyond what I imagined back then. Life’s freaking good!! I haven’t really talked about dating on here, but I’m going to start sprinkling it in here and there because it’s fun for me now. I don’t worry about things I used to and it feels good! I say that because I’m about to go on a first date with a guy. It’s not my first date post-op, I’ve dated off and on since surgery and lemme tell ya, I have some storiesssss 🤣 but the first date has typically been grabbing drinks and then doing something. This is my first dinner first date and it will be interesting. I don’t bring up the weight loss/surgery thing until it gets brought up naturally when dating, definitely not a first date thing for me. But, I don’t want him to question my leftovers🤣 I’m not going to bring it up, but it’s the only thing I’m nervous about 💀I’ll keep y’all updated though. This is usually a topic I talk about on my stories, but I’m bringing it to the feed because dating after weight loss is an interesting topic to me💅🏼 I hope you guys have an amazing rest of your Thursday, stay tuned to see if the date is a yay or nay🤣💗💗 #vsg #vsgcommunity #vsgjourney #vsgbeforeandafter #vsgtransformation #vsgsupport #vsgsupport #vsgcommunitysupport #vsgpostop #bariatricsurgery #bariatricsleeve #bariatriccommunity #weightlossjourney #weightlosstransformation #weightlossinspiration #weightlossbeforeandafter #beforeandafter #beforeandafterweightloss #weightlossprogress #weightlossmotivation #weightlossresults (at USA, Canada and UK) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnbBTsALlnG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

AUGUST 11, 2019-AUGUST 11, 2020 Today marks 1 year after my VSG (verticle sleeve gastrectomy) surgery. I can't express how thankful and blessed I am to have had this opportunity to better myself physically and mentally. It has not been easy at all! I'd say, the beginning months were a lot easier than it is now. Believe it or not. The further out we are from surgery the more we have to work on our eating habits. Even with this new weight loss tool, it is easy to gain the weight back. These days I am in a constant battle with myself. I shouldn't eat this, I shouldn't eat that. But it's okay it's just this time, or it's just a little bit. But a little turns into a lot and just this time turns into every day. I have lost about 81 pounds from my heaviest weight which was 295 pounds. Today I weighed in at 214 pounds. I have been stuck between about 206-217 pounds for months. The lowest I've been since my surgery was 199 pounds. That was a short lived victory. The battle was won, with my initial weight loss, but the war has just begun. I still have a long way to go mentally and physically to be at where I want to be. I pray for strength, patience and discipline. I am so thankful for all the support I have had throughout this journey and I thank everyone who are still supporting and rooting for me. I especially want to thank my sister who has been there through it all. @msblackoreanlady I also want to thank my best friend who has also been my rock. @_fabulousnat I thank my mother who prays for me every day and has and still is supporting me throughout it all. #1yearsurgeryversary #1yearpostop #1yearvsgpostop #1yearvsgpostop #weightloss #weightlossjourney #wls #vsg #vsgjourney #losingweightjourney #losingweight #weightlosssurgeryinkorea #surgeriesinkorea #vsginkorea #bigtoslim #gettinghealthy #changingmybody #lifestylechange #abetterme #physicalandmentalhealth #vsgpostop #lifeaftervsg #abetterme #anewme https://www.instagram.com/p/CDxFn6enPnx/?igshid=9w51t7k5a760

Sorry I been MIA for so long
3/7/18
Sorry, I been gone for about 3 months since I got weight loss surgery. Since surgery I been going through a roller coaster of emotions and situations. I gone through a lot since then. I was sleeved on Dec. 14th, but I was hospitalized after 2 weeks with pancreatitis. With my luck I ended up spending Christmas eve & Christmas day in the hospital, and 3 more days after that.
Throughout those first 2 weeks after surgery I was miserable. I couldn't keep anything down, and drinking water for some reason hurt. I drank propel water, which was easier to get down. I could barley drink 2oz of protein shake. I kept throwing up, or got intense acid reflux. The acid reflux was so bad that I couldn't sleep bcuz of the pain. I kept putting off going to the ER bcuz I thought these things were normal, and if I just wait one more day it would get better. Although, my skin turned super pale, and my eyes nd face were sunken in with deep purple circles underneath my eyes. I could barley stand bcuz I had no energy, which was when I decided to finally go to the ER.
That's when I was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and acute dehydration. I was hooked up to tons of fluids for the whole week I was in the hospital. Gradually I felt better, gained more energy, and my color came back to my face. I managed to keep everything down, and got 4oz of protein shake down within an hour, which was awesome. I had to start over on my eating stages, so I was on stage 2 and 3 a lot longer than normal. I added new foods a lot slower to my diet as well.
I wish I could have updated when I went through the stages, but it was so gradual that I thought it would be a bit boring. I'm at stage 5 now, which is the last stage where you can eat almost anything. So far I been doing very well with my food tolerance. I haven't found anything that messes with me. Other than too spicy, or citrus foods that can give me acid reflux if eaten too late. Mayo was too heavy for me when I first started stage 4 and 5, but now that I'm 2 months out, my stomach can tolerate it now. Yay! Lol.
Since the hospitalization I been getting lab work done to check for the number of pancreas & liver enzymes in my blood. Since then my numbers have still been too high, so I been referred to a gastroenterologist to check for any underlining causes as to why my pancreas and liver are still inflamed. I don't see them until April, so hope they can help me, and that it's nothing too serious. I'll keep you guys updated when the day comes.
I was also laid off from work right after I got out of the hospital, so it's also been tough trying to stay positive and find work. I have a degree in graphic design, and where I live it's tough to find work in that field. I also dont have the means to move or freelance right now either. On top of all that, I've also been having lots of family problems that has triggered my anxiety even more. I have social anxiety, and general anxiety disorder, so they basically go hand in hand for me. My mood was super positive once I got out of the hospital, but since these family issues, and being laid off things have gotten really stressful for me.
I'm seeing a psychiatrist soon, and have been prescribed some medication for my minor depression and anxiety right now. My personal text posts might be erratic becuz I've been getting overwhelmed easily. However, I'm willing to continue to update, and be as transparent as I can be. This wls journey isn't easy, but I know it's worth it. This blog helps me gain more control and motivation on my journey. I hope my blog will help anyone out there who needs more insight or motivation on there journey as well.

12/22/17- day 2
So I’m home, thankfully. Doing pretty good with pain. Being managed with the liquid norco which is nasty but I’m mixing it with cranberry and water. Takes me a good 1-1 1/2 to drink it but that’s alright. At least my pain is controlled somewhat.
I’m still a bit bloated from the gas but I’m walking often around the house to get the gas to pass. Which I feel is working but I keep burping very little air bubbles but at least it’s coming out.
I’m a side sleeper and I’ve tried sleeping on my side all night but very painful. So I have to keep to my back.
I moved to the couch so it’s much easier to sit/ sleep verses on the bed. I might move to the bed for a little while.
Can anyone tell me how long it took for them to be able to sleep on their side? Just curious.
I keep forgetting to do the pulmonary function test but I’ve also been asleep most of the day so idk. Is it truly that important?
