#so my advice on that score is: try to see how the world looks for you

Hi! I am an ardent fan of your writing, and I hope to be as sorted and planned as you some day in my own writing journey.
My question is: you have a keen eye when it comes to planning character personality, dynamics, and such. I've also been wading through your ask replies, and your insights into how you write people and how you make them play off of each other is so wonderful to read. If it's not too personal a q, how did you learn how to write like this? Did you go to school for writing, does it come from years of observing people, do you have reading list recs for "how to write real people and real interactions"?
Thanks! This is a really flattering question. I'll try to answer it honestly, because I wish someone had been brutally honest about this with me when I was a young writer.
I didn't go to school for writing. I started doing it when I was about nine years old. It sucked very badly. I kept writing throughout high school, and it still mostly sucked, but some of it was occasionally interesting. ("Interesting" here does not mean "good," by the way.) I took a break in college, and then came back. I've been writing ever since. Sometimes, I feel good about it. A lot of the time, I don't!
I hate giving this advice, because I remember how it feels to get it, and it's the most uninspiring, boring-ass, dog shit advice you can get, but it's also the only advice that is 100% unequivocally true: you have to write, and specifically, you have to write things that suck.
I do not mean that you should make things that suck on purpose. I mean that you have to sit down and try your absolute hardest to make something good. You have to put in the hours, the elbow grease, the blood, sweat, and tears, and then you have to read it over and accept that it just totally sucks. There is no way around this, and you should be wary of people who tell you there is. There is no trick, no rule, no book you can buy or article you can read, that will make your writing not suck. The best someone else can do is tell you what good writing looks like, and chances are, you knew that anyway — after all, you love to read. You wouldn't be trying to do this if you didn't. And anyone who says they can teach you to write so good it doesn't suck at first is either lying to you, or they have forgotten how they learned to write in the first place.
So the trick is to sit there in the miserable doldrums of Suck, write a ton, and learn to like it. Because this is the phase of your path as an artist when you find what it is you love about writing, and it cannot be the chance to make "good writing." This will be the thing that bears you through and compels you to keep going when your writing is shit, i.e., the very thing that makes you a writer in the first place. So find that, and you've got a good start.
Some people know this, but assume that perseverance as a writer is about trying to get to the point where you don't suck anymore. This is not true, and it is an actively dangerous lie to tell young writers. You are not aiming to feel like your writing doesn't suck. You are aiming to write. You are aiming to have written. Everything else is dust and rust. And of course, you'll find things you like about your pieces, you'll find things you're proud of, you'll learn to love the things you've made. But that little itch of self-criticism, in the back of your brain — the one that cringes when you read a clunky line, or thinks of a better character beat right after it's far too late to change — that's never going away. That's the Writer part of you. Read Kafka, read Dickens, read Tolstoy, you will find diary entries where they lament how absolutely fucking atrocious their writing was, and how angry they are that they can't do better. A good writer hates their sentences because they can always imagine better ones. And the ability to imagine a better sentence is what's going to make you pick up the pen again tomorrow. And the day after that. And the day after that.
Which is what I mean, and probably what all those other annoying, preachy advice-givers mean, when we say: a good writer is just someone who writes every day. It's that easy, and that hard.

Things That May Be Causing Your Writer's Block- and How to Beat Them
I don't like the term 'Writer's Block' - not because it isn't real, but because the term is so vague that it's useless. Hundreds of issues all get lumped together under this one umbrella, making writer's block seem like this all-powerful boogeyman that's impossible to beat. Worse yet, it leaves people giving and receiving advice that is completely ineffective because people often don't realize they're talking about entirely different issues.
In my experience, the key to beating writer's block is figuring out what the block even is, so I put together a list of Actual Reasons why you may be struggling to write:
(note that any case of writer's block is usually a mix of two or more)
Perfectionism (most common)
What it looks like:
You write one sentence and spend the next hour googling "synonyms for ___"
Write. Erase. Write. Rewrite. Erase.
Should I even start writing this scene when I haven't figured out this one specific detail yet?
I hate everything I write
Cringing while writing
My first draft must be perfect, or else I'm a terrible writer
Things that can help:
Give yourself permission to suck
Keep in mind that nothing you write is going to be perfect, especially your first draft
Think of writing your first/early drafts not as writing, but sketching out a loose foundation to build upon later
People write multiple drafts for a reason: write now, edit later
Stop googling synonyms and save that for editing
Write with a pen to reduce temptation to erase
Embrace leaving blank spaces in your writing when you can't think of the right word, name, or detail
It's okay if your writing sucks. We all suck at some point. Embrace the growth mindset, and focus on getting words on a page
Lack of inspiration (easiest to fix)
What it looks like:
Head empty, no ideas
What do I even write about???
I don't have a plot, I just have an image
Want to write but no story to write
Things that can help:
Google writing prompts
If writing prompts aren't your thing, instead try thinking about what kind of tropes/genres/story elements you would like to try out
Instead of thinking about the story you would like to write, think about the story you would like to read, and write that
It's okay if you don't have a fully fleshed out story idea. Even if it's just an image or a line of dialogue, it's okay to write that. A story may or may not come out of it, but at least you got the creative juices flowing
Stop writing. Step away from your desk and let yourself naturally get inspired. Go for a walk, read a book, travel, play video games, research history, etc. Don't force ideas, but do open up your mind to them
If you're like me, world-building may come more naturally than plotting. Design the world first and let the story come later
Boredom/Understimulation (lost the flow)
What it looks like:
I know I should be writing but uugggghhhh I just can'tttttt
Writing words feels like pulling teeth
I started writing, but then I got bored/distracted
I enjoy the idea of writing, but the actual process makes me want to throw my laptop out the window
Things that can help:
Introduce stimulation: snacks, beverages, gum, music such as lo-fi, blankets, decorate your writing space, get a clickity-clackity keyboard, etc.
Add variety: write in a new location, try a new idea/different story for a day or so, switch up how you write (pen and paper vs. computer) or try voice recording or speech-to-text
Gamify writing: create an arbitrary challenge, such as trying to see how many words you can write in a set time and try to beat your high score
Find a writing buddy or join a writer's group
Give yourself a reward for every writing milestone, even if it's just writing a paragraph
Ask yourself whether this project you're working on is something you really want to be doing, and be honest with your answer
Intimidation/Procrastination (often related to perfectionism, but not always)
What it looks like:
I was feeling really motivated to write, but then I opened my laptop
I don't even know where to start
I love writing, but I can never seem to get started
I'll write tomorrow. I mean next week. Next month? Next month, I swear (doesn't write next month)
Can't find the time or energy
Unreasonable expectations (I should be able to write 10,000 words a day, right????)
Feeling discouraged and wondering why I'm even trying
Things that can help:
Follow the 2 min rule (or the 1 paragraph rule, which works better for me): whenever you sit down to write, tell yourself that you are only going to write for 2 minutes. If you feel like continuing once the 2 mins are up, go for it! Otherwise, stop. Force yourself to start but DO NOT force yourself to continue unless you feel like it. The more often you do this, the easier it will be to get started
Make getting started as easy as possible (i.e. minimize barriers: if getting up to get a notebook is stopping you from getting started, then write in the notes app of your phone)
Commit to a routine that will work for you. Baby steps are important here. Go with something that feels reasonable: every day, every other day, once a week, twice a week, and use cues to help you remember to start. If you chose a set time to write, just make sure that it's a time that feels natural to you- i.e. don't force yourself to writing at 9am every morning if you're not a morning person
Find a friend or a writing buddy you can trust and talk it out or share a piece of work you're proud of. Sometimes we just get a bit bogged down by criticism- either internal or external- and need a few words of encouragement
The Problem's Not You, It's Your Story (or Outline (or Process))
What it looks like:
I have no problems writing other scenes, it's just this scene
I started writing, but now I have no idea where I'm going
I don't think I'm doing this right
What's an outline?
Drowning in documents
This. Doesn't. Make. Sense. How do I get from this plot point to this one?!?!?! (this ColeyDoesThings quote lives in my head rent free cause BOY have I been there)
Things That Can Help:
Go back to the drawing board. Really try to get at the root of why a scene or story isn't working
A part of growing as a writer is learning when to kill your darlings. Sometimes you're trying to force an idea or scene that just doesn't work and you need to let it go
If you don't have an outline, write one
If you have an outline and it isn't working, rewrite it, or look up different ways to structure it
You may be trying to write as a pantser when you're really a plotter or vice versa. Experiment with different writing processes and see what feels most natural
Study story structures, starting with the three act structure. Even if you don't use them, you should know them
Check out Ellen Brock on YouTube. She's a professional novel editor who has a lot of advice on writing strategies for different types of writers
Also check out Savage Books on YouTube (another professional story editor) for advice on story structure and dialogue. Seriously, I cannot recommend this guy enough
Executive Dysfunction, Usually From ADHD/Autism
What it looks like:
Everything in boredom/understimulation
Everything in intimidation/procrastination
You have been diagnosed with and/or have symptoms of ADHD/Autism
Things that can help:
If you haven't already, seek a diagnosis or professional treatment
Hire an ADHD coach or other specialist that can help you work with your brain (I use Shimmer; feel free to DM me for a referral)
Seek out neurodiverse communities for advice and support
Try body doubling! There's lot's of free online body doubling websites out there for you to try. If social anxiety is a barrier, start out with writing streams such as katecavanaughwrites on Twitch
Be aware of any sensory barriers that may be getting in the way of you writing (such as an uncomfortable desk chair, harsh lighting, bad sounds)
And Lastly, Burnout, Depression, or Other Mental Illness
What it looks like:
You have symptoms of burnout or depression
Struggling with all things, not just writing
It's more than a lack of inspiration- the spark is just dead
Things that can help:
Forget writing for now. Focus on healing first.
Seek professional help
If you feel like it, use writing as a way to explore your feelings. It can take the form of journaling, poetry, an abstract reflection of your thoughts, narrative essays, or exploring what you're feeling through your fictional characters. The last two helped me rediscover my love of writing after I thought years of depression had killed it for good. Just don't force yourself to do so, and stop if it takes you to a darker place instead of feeling cathartic

Ooh I just read the other part to the baby Jamie tartt story and it was amazing!! What about where it’s bea’s first soccer game and the team shows up and Jamie is just a proud dad or she’s 2 or 3 watching her dad play and cheering super loud and getting into it!?!
Heyyo! Mixed this with another ask. It was fun to write! Thank you!
Tumblr media
today’s a day like any other
Bea is two years old and five months, and she’s at the age where she is talking in sentences and can understand things that are happening around her. She makes little two-year-old jokes that only she understands, and her favorite person in the whole entire world is Sam Obisanya.
You have a picture of her at her second birthday party, pointing at something while Sam holds her, both in matching Obisanya 24 kits. She can’t read, but she knows enough to tell that the markings are the same. She wears it every day it’s clean, and some days it’s not. You think it’s hilarious because Jamie has to cajole her into wearing her Baby Tartt 9 kit.
Jamie is her second favorite person. She calls him “dada,” and shrieks whenever he comes home from training. Both of you are in your mid-twenties now, and you get stares whenever you’re out with her. The press is still the press, but they keep Bea’s face out of it when they speculate how long Jamie will keep “playing house,” or you will “put up with his antics.” They comment on young marriage and early divorce, and you and Jamie make the choice to laugh through it.
He calls Ted about once a week for advice on marriage and fatherhood, and Rebecca stops by for lunch for you and Bea twice a week to give you advice on marriage and encourage you in motherhood. Bea adores her, almost as much as she does Sam. Almost.
Rebecca had been hesitant at first to share, but once you said, “I’m pretty sure you know what red flags I should look for,” she laughed and went full steam ahead.
All that to say, Bea’s favorite people are Sam, Jamie, and you, in exactly that order. (You could rank the rest of the team, but honestly it’s pretty close between some of them and they don’t need that type of competition.)
Bea is two years old and five months, and she is at yet another football match, wearing her Obisanya 24 jersey and bouncing up and down in your arms. You’re three months along with your son name undisclosed so you can still hide it, but you’re wearing one of Jamie’s kits as opposed to your own. You put tiny lines of red and blue face paint on Bea and are standing up in Rebecca’s box, pointing things out to Bea. You point to a tiny Sam on the pitch, and Bea starts yelling, “Sam, Sam, Sam!” He can’t hear her, of course, but he’s looking around and smiling. The stadium is chanting, “Go, Sam Obisanya,” and Bea picks it up. You see Jamie nudge Sam and point up to where you’re sitting and Sam waves. Bea waves back, giggling.
“Bea, do you see Dada?” you ask. Jamie’s face is on the big screen, and she wiggles even harder. She’s practically vibrating in your arms. You think this might be the first game she actually understands enough to remember. You spend the first half narrating the game to her- “See, Sam has the ball. He’s trying to get it to Dada. Oh look, there he goes. Do you think he’s going to pass it?”
Bea is watching intently as Jamie zips by player after player. You see him fake out Wolverhampton’s last line of defense and then the stadium erupts. He’s scored the first goal of the game.
Bea is yelling her head off and bouncing again. Jamie looks up to where he knows you are an blow a kiss, which only makes Bea lose it more.
On the drive home, all she can talk about is how “dada got a goal,” and “dada is my favorite.”
—
Bea is seven years old and one month, and she is very adamant that she wants to play football. Her friends are all playing, plus she’s Beatrice fricken’ Tartt. Isn’t football in her blood?
You and Jamie tried to talk her out of it, not wanting her to feel like she had to. She insisted.
So there you are on a Saturday morning, seven months pregnant (yes, again thanks to goddamn Jamie Tartt) getting ready to cheer Bea on in her first match of the season.
Her kit says Tartt 24 because of course it does. The teams are doing little stretches to get ready, so you smile and reach down to get a juice for four-year-old Theo (no, you don’t call him Ted) out of the cooler Jamie brought.
“Eyy, it’s the Tartts!” says a voice. You look up to a grinning Dani.
“Dani! What are you doing here?” you ask, grinning back.
“Couldn’t miss my favorite niece’s first match, could I? And I heard you had drinks,” he says, peering into the cooler.
You laugh and someone else says, “let me know what’s in the cooler, bruv.” You turn, and there’s Isaac, Colin, and Michael. Dani waves to someone across the field, and it’s Sam, Jan Maas, Richard, and Bumbercatch. Roy’s Jeep screeches into the parking lot, and you see him get out followed by a flurry of pink. Of course it’s Keeley.
“I hope I’m not late,” says another voice, and Bea runs up to say “Aunt Bex!” and does a flying leap at Rebecca.
All of Bea’s uncles are here, minus Ted and Beard, to support her at her first game.
You think you might cry.
Jamie, on the other hand, is looking extremely proud of himself.
Bea is showing of her number 24, Sam is grinning proudly, Richard, Isaac, and Jan Maas are hyping her up, and Dani is doing arm curls with Theo hanging onto his wrist.
Jamie slides his arm around your waist and presses a kiss to your neck.
“Jamie Tartt,” you say, “did you invite all of them?”
Jamie grins. “I might’ve.“
“That might be the sweetest thing you’ve ever done. It might even make me not mad at you anymore.”
Jamie pulls away a little, indignant. “What’re you mad at me for? I haven’t done anything!”
You point to your stomach and say, “Oh really, then what do you call this?”
Jamie fixes you with a devilish grin. “Proof that I’m still fucking sexy?”
You giggle like a teenager. He is definitely still fucking sexy.
The game is filled with wild cheers from Bea’s aunts and uncles, especially when she performs a header.
“I taught her that,” Roy says to anyone who will listen.
They swarm her on the field after the game’s over, uncaring if she’s won or lost. It doesn’t matter. They don’t all play for Richmond anymore, but they will always be a family.
Bea is sixteen years old when she causually mentions a boy named Thomas in one of her classes. You’re all at the dinner table and Jamie doesn’t clock it, but you do.
Jamie is only a few years out from retirement. He’s around the age Roy was when Roy hurt his knee, and although he’s still tearing it up on the pitch, you both know his time is coming to a close.
He’s a lot sadder than he lets on, but you remind him there’s more to life. Your family has become somewhat famous, even in the States, so he’ll still have opportunities to do what he loves. Just not with the League. It’s become a bit of a routine, at this point, having the same conversation at the end of ever season.
Just one more, Jamie promises, One more and then I’ll retire. You just hope he isn’t forced to by an injury.
But anyway, Bea’s got her eye on a boy and Jamie is completely oblivious until you bring it up that night while getting ready for bed. He’s flossing his teeth and your putting lotion on your face.
“She fuckin’ what?” Spit goes flying.
“Jamie, that’s disgusting. Please wipe that up.”
Jamie grabs a towel and swipes at the mirror. “How d’you know? It could just be a friend. She’s too young to be thinking like that!”
You smile. Bea’s a very thoughtful girl. You’re pretty sure she timed the name-drop with great precision and care, testing the waters.
She’s a lot like you.
“Babe, I just know. And, not sure if you’ve noticed, but she’s not seven anymore. Plus, I’ve seen Thomas around. He’s a very bright, respectful young man. Bea’s got a good head on her shoulders.”
Jamie pales, not listening to a thing you said. He grabs your hand. “Babe. Babe. Think about what I was like. Fucking hell, I was an absolute wanker. Oh fuck. This is not fucking good.”
He’s spiraling. He’s spiraling about his oldest daughter and it’s adorable. His hair is all crazy from running his hands through it, and his eyes are wild. You know what Jamie was like. You met a toned-down version of him, and you’re pretty sure he wouldn’t want Bea even near someone like that. You’ve heard the stories of how he was before.
“Jaim,” you say, “it’s going to be ok. Seriously.”
“You don’t understand,” he says, hands now on your face. “I was an absolute shithead. I was rude and a fucking dick. I didn’t treat women well, or anyone well, and I don’t want Bea with someone like me.”
You understand. You’re not minimizing his concerns or apathetic about Bea, it’s just that you know the daughter you’ve raised, and you tell Jamie as much. “I know this is new for us, but she’s wonderful. And anyway, it’s not like she’s going to end up like me, twenty-two and knocked up.”
“We were married!” Jamie protests, “And twenty-two is like being a real adult!”
You raise an eyebrow. “We were barely married. And we were basically kids.”
Jamie still looks distraught, so you place your hands on his wrists.
“Darling, don’t worry. She’ll be ok. We made it this far being stupid, and she’s so much smarter than either of us.”
Jamie snorts, which you take as a victory.
“And anyway,” you continue, “any boy that breaks her heart has like a million of her scary uncles to deal with. I promise, promise, promise she’ll be alright.”
Jamie smiles at that. “She does, doesn’t she?” He kisses the tip of your nose. “Suppose it’s a good thing you didn’t have any of those, otherwise we might not have gotten together.”
You laugh. “Alright, you sentimental dweeb. It’s past your bedtime.”
“Just one more kiss,” Jamie replies, and then his lips are on yours and you forget what you were even talking about, anyway.

To be yours D.R #3
Daniel Ricciardo X female!reader
Bebe wake up!! The office coworkers au is here!
Warnings : no proof reading , grammar,*Title might change🤷🏻‍♀️.
This lives rent-free in my head!!!! I need to get it out .
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First and foremost let's get some background info! .
So our girl is in Management .
Graduated top of her class with honour and all .
Got internship in one of the top international business companies since sophomore year.
"Work hard , don't take shit from nobody" kind of girl .
So after graduating that secured her an opportunity right away .
So started off working , expanding both her relations and knowledge in the business world beside working on a couple of masters and a PhD on the making.
So for a couple of years it was a steady progress up the ranks .
Up until she scored Project Manager.
Which is A lot of work and commitment but she got it covered .
And as a PM she interact with and overseas members from other departments for every project and so she's well known and respected as a leader and a colleague .
Her team members likes to call her the Boss lady , when the work is due you better do your job well or boy you're in for a ride .
But that don't mean she's an uptight controlling bit#@ ordering people around .
She could be seen chatting with other employees and even the internship students , giving advice when asked , boosting energy when needed , and giving praise to who deserves .
That doesn't mean the b+_£#'s won't be around trying to be a pain .
But we know how to deal with that .
Anyway .
As It's said PM works with and supervise other departments depending on the project in progress.
So !!!!!
In came our Danny boy .
With that sharp suit and curly curles and THAT smile .
I mean look at him ! .
Sir !!! that's illegal to look this good and be that good ! .
Everyone knows Danny .
And everyone adores him .
Or/and have a crush on him .
He applied for the job just for kicks but now he got a full-time position so that is that .
But that don't mean he's going to slack in getting the work done efficiently .
He shift through several departments so almost everyone is familiar with him .
Went from working in Finances to Marketing to HR before settling back to Marketing .
He worked on many projects with our girl's department in general and within her team on several occasions when needed .
Both know eachother well as colleagues and their work dynamic is unmatched .
That didn't happen overnight but they got there eventually .
He got a calm and relaxed layed back approach , while she got the organized thoroughly planed approach so they often clash on small details , but you can always see that geddy smile on Danny's face whenever he got on her nerves .
Meetings with him are a nightmare .
And let's not forget about him terrorising the innocent interns on the daily .
If you see him skipping down the hall humming happily know that he accomplished his daily routine of provoking her , and somewhere else she's plotting to throw him in a ditch .
Just kidding .
Or not .
But he always gets her her favourite drink with small packets of cookies and sweets so he's safe for now .
So that's it for now .

I soldi possono comprare tutto, eccetto il tuo amore (Don Lorenzo x reader)
"Money can buy anything, except for your love" - word count: 4k
Synopsis: “Money can buy anything in the world” doesn’t apply anymore when it comes to winning your love. And thats when Lorenzo needs to figure out how he can truly win your heart.
Tags: gn!reader x hopeless romantic!Lorenzo, this is before Blue Lock, dad Snuffy giving advice to Lorenzo, inspired by Wo kann man das kaufen ("Where can you buy that") by Alligatoah, thanks to @echarie for translating the title to Italian!!
"Another gift?" You raise an eyebrow as you stare right back at Lorenzo. A part of you is surprised, another part is slightly annoyed. "That's the fifth this week. It's Wednesday."
"Well, you deserve it!" Lorenzo grins and forces the small box into your hands, expecting you to open it right away.
"For what? I haven't done anything special this week." You try to return the box to him, but Lorenzo refuses to take it and hides his hands in the pockets of his jeans.
"You did great in last week's match." He leans against the nearby wall but continues looking at you.
"That was days ago and I don't think the one goal I scored deserves five presents." You once again try to return the box to Lorenzo, but his hands are kept in his pockets.
"But I think so." The smirk on his face still doesn't disappear. "Anyways, are you up for a date on Friday evening?"
Almost every conversation with him goes like this. He hands you a present and then asks you out on a date. Lorenzo always hopes the amount of presents he gives to you is going to help make you fall in love with him. At first, you truly appreciated the gifts, but by now they seem... unnecessary. Back when he only gave you a present every now and then you felt special, but since he started giving them to you daily, they lost the special feeling.
And at this point, it's getting frustrating. Lorenzo seems to be under the impression that he can win your love with money and presents. And even though you're well aware of the fact that he's had a crush on you for a while, he never genuinely shows his feelings. You're actually doubting him by now.
Because he won't take the present into his hands, you decide to just set it down on the floor right before his feet. "I think I'm gonna have to say no to that date."
Lorenzo's grin quickly turns into a frown, but he's trying to keep the confidence in his voice. "Again?" He takes a step away from the wall, now leaning towards you again. "How many more presents do I have to give you until you say yes?"
You look him right into his eyes with the most serious expression you can put on right now. "Not a single one."
"Then why-" Lorenzo starts but quickly gets interrupted by you.
"I wasn't done talking." You take a deep breath before continuing. "I don't want any more presents from you. Not a single one. You can't buy my love like this. Do you get that?"
Lorenzo's frown now turns into a confused expression. "Huh? I thought you liked my presents?"
"I used to like them. But now..." You turn your head slightly to the side and let out a sigh. "I feel as if your money is the only thing you're using to get my love. I don't want that."
Lorenzo crosses his arms in front of his chest and tries to come up with a response. You can see in his eyes how puzzled he currently is and if you weren't so serious right now, it would have probably made you laugh.
"But that's my way of showing I love you."
"And it's not the way of getting me to give you a chance."
"...Fine." Lorenzo sighs in defeat. "So, what do I have to do to win your heart, eh?"
"No presents, no talk about money, just..." You start but quickly stop talking again. It takes you a moment to figure out what you truly want from him. "I want to know who you are. And I mean who you are without your money in the foreground. Let me get to know you properly. Because all I ever hear you talking about is money and how it runs the world and... all that you always talk about. I barely have an idea of who you really are."
Only a few seconds after you finish speaking Lorenzo's grin has returned and he leans a little closer towards you. That's something you're used to, but this time he gets a bit closer than usual. Close enough to let you feel his breath on your face, but he doesn't give the impression of getting any closer for something like a kiss.
"All I understand is you're willing to go on a date with me if I don't talk about money?"
You can't help but chuckle at his response. It's exactly what you expected from him. "If you can really do that, I'm willing to give you a chance."
Lorenzo wants to put on a genuine smile, but he tries to hide it with the grin he's been keeping on his lips the entire time. You can hear the genuine happiness in his voice, though. "Perfect! Friday evening it is? Or would you prefer another day?"
"Friday evening works just fine for me."
And with this confirmed, Lorenzo later texted you the details of where the date would be and when he'd pick you up. He chose a restaurant that wasn't super fancy, but not too cheap either. You can tell he intentionally picked a place that doesn't scream "I have lots of money to spend there."
Well, in reality, Lorenzo had no idea what to choose. He asked his teammates for advice and recommendations because if it was up to him, he would have chosen the fanciest restaurant in the area so he could spoil you as much as possible. But since you insisted on leaving the topic of money aside for a bit, he had to find other options. Luckily his teammates were happy to help him out with that. After all, they've been watching him hopelessly crushing on you for months at this point.
The more time passes by and the closer the date gets, Lorenzo realizes he genuinely doesn't know how to win your heart other than the method he tried so far with all the gift-giving. What is he supposed to talk about? He doesn't feel like there's much to him as a person. Sure, he could tell you about his past if he wants to get more personal, but finding out about the wrong things he used to do would probably turn you away from him. Also, that would only go back to talking about money since he did all those things because of money back then.
And the more he tries to come up with things to tell you about himself, the more he realizes all of them lead back to anything related to money. On the day when the date happens, he decides he'll just let you talk about yourself and will try to squeeze in things about himself if he can. He knows you're the one who wants to get to know him closer, but he wants to find out more about you as well.
In the meantime, you've been wondering how this date will go. Will Lorenzo really stick to what he said and shut up about money for a while? Or will he fail at that? Did he maybe lie about that to make you agree to go on a date?
Well, those are questions to which you'll find out the answers pretty soon. They just keep running through your head over and over while you're waiting in front of your house for Lorenzo to pick you up. He's already five minutes late but you think it might just be the traffic that makes him delayed. After all, Lorenzo lives on the opposite side of the city and it takes a bit to get to your place.
What's actually going on is that Lorenzo suddenly got very anxious right before he wanted to start driving. He never felt like this about a person or a date before, so why is he suddenly unable to think straight? Didn't he already overthink the date enough for the past two days?
"Didn't you want to leave twenty minutes ago?" Snuffy asks when he spots Lorenzo hesitating to leave the house. He's been nervously walking back and forth in the hallway and still hasn't found the confidence to go outside.
"Twenty minutes already?" Lorenzo comes to a stop and looks at Snuffy. "It's really been twenty minutes?"
"Twenty-one now." Snuffy jokes but quickly goes back to being serious. "You seem nervous. Why? You've already been on dates before but I've never seen you like this."
"Because I've never been so serious about someone until now!" It bursts out of Lorenzo, but he quickly apologizes for getting only louder than he intended to. "Ah, sorry... It's just-"
"You're in love and don't want to get your final rejection, hm?" Snuffy puts his hand on Lorenzo's shoulder in a reassuring manner. "That's what you're worried about, aren't you?"
Lorenzo is a little embarrassed to admit it, but Snuffy is completely right. "(Y/N) doesn't want me to talk about anything related to money tonight. What am I supposed to talk about then?"
"Why are you trying to plan what you'll talk about before you're even there? You'll see how the conversation goes. Don't stress yourself over it now."
Snuffy's words hit Lorenzo immediately. He's right. Lorenzo has been breaking his mind over what he can tell you this entire time instead of waiting until he's actually talking to you. Well, he already planned to let you talk about yourself first anyways, but he still needed Snuffy's advice to reassure him.
"Hm... You're right. Thanks." Lorenzo turns to the door. "I think I'll be going now."
"Drive safely, alright?" Snuffy gives Lorenzo one last pat on the shoulder before letting him go outside. He's sure that this will go well for Lorenzo, especially now that he's feeling more confident again.
Lorenzo arrives around twenty-five minutes later than he originally told you. For a bit, you were starting to doubt he'd pick you up but kept reminding yourself that he was trying to get you on a date for so long, there's no way he'd just leave you standing like this. But still, when he pulls his car into your driveway you're relieved for him to finally be here.
While you're walking towards his car, Lorenzo quickly gets out so he can open the door to the passenger seat for you.
"Aren't you a little late?" You ask in a slightly teasing tone before getting into the car.
"Maybe..." Lorenzo gets in the driver's seat again and starts the car. "Sorry, something just got in my way. But now let's enjoy the evening, okay?"
For a moment he debates with himself if he should tell you the truth about why he was late, but quickly decides against it. Saying "I'm late because I got very anxious over not knowing how to talk about myself if it's not related to money" just doesn't sound good.
The next few minutes neither of the two of you talk and it's slightly awkward, so Lorenzo soon breaks that silence. "Do you want to put on any music? Come on, show me what you like."
"I don't really think it's the type of music you'd like, to be honest-"
"I don't care." Lorenzo stops at a red light and quickly unlocks his phone before handing it to you. "Put on whatever you like."
"Okay, thanks." You give him a soft smile, which quickly causes Lorenzo to blush, then put on some of your favourite songs. You also get a quick glimpse at Lorenzo's Spotify playlists and curiosity gets the better of you, so you end up scrolling through his liked songs. He doesn't seem to mind that, though. "Rave music? You like that stuff?"
"I love it!" His voice suddenly sounds more enthusiastic than you've ever heard him. "I really enjoy going to rave parties. Going there always means having a good time, you know?"
"So there is more to you than money!" You unintentionally end up sounding more surprised than you want to. "Ah eh... Sorry. Did that sound weird?"
Your reaction gets a laugh about Lorenzo. "No no, not at all. It was kinda cute, to be honest." He then pulls into the restaurant's parking lot and looks at you before getting out of the car. "No going back now for you."
"I don't mind. Let me get to know you better."
You're about to open the car door when Lorenzo suddenly tells you to stop. He quickly gets out of the car and walks around it so he can open the door for you - just like when he picked you up.
"Are you always this much of a gentleman or is it because you're trying to win me over?" Your question is both out of curiosity and also for the sake of teasing him a little.
"How about you find out?" Lorenzo grins and holds his hand out to you. "You're here to get to know me, aren't you?"
A little laugh escapes you as you reach for his hand. "You better not be putting on an act, though. I want to know what you're like. I need to know if you're worth giving a chance."
"Oh, I definitely am!" Lorenzo helps you out of the car and quickly pulls you closer to his body, so close your chest is pressed against his. "I'll prove it to you, okay?"
With this, he finally gains a blush from you for the first time - and this only gives him another confidence boost.
Still holding your hand, Lorenzo leads you to go into the restaurant where you sit down together at the table he reserved.
The entire time, you find yourself talking to Lorenzo without a single awkward silence in between and there aren't any even slightly uncomfortable moments either. Lorenzo still seems very confident in winning you over tonight, and the more you get to know him, the more you think the same.
It's genuinely nice to find out who he really is. You've actually known each other ever since he's joined Ubers a while back, but because you're not on the same team, you never had proper conversations with him. You don't even know how he ended up falling for you because your paths only ever crossed when your practises happened to be at a similar time. Well, at least in the beginning. At some point Lorenzo started coming at times when he knew you'd be at practice just so he could see you. And that's when the unnecessary amount of gift giving started that caused you to be rather uncomfortable.
But even though you had a somewhat weird start with Lorenzo, now you're glad it went that way. Because if it didn't, tonight wouldn't be happening and you'd be missing out on a lot of fun.
Although, now one question is stuck in your head.
"Why did you start falling for me?" You ask as soon as the past conversation topic is over.
The question catches Lorenzo off guard. The previous topic was more fun and lighthearted and while he could respond to this in that way as well, he thinks he should give you a more serious answer. But truth is, he doesn't completely remember the reasons.
It takes a few moments until he responds, and when he does, his voice sounds a little less confident than before. He doesn't give off the impression as if he's lying, but he rather sounds as if he's about to get nervous again.
"Well... I don't really know. It's been a while since I started crushing on you, hasn't it?" He leans back in his chair and turns his face to the side a little, hoping it would help hiding his blush - but it really doesn't.
"Then, what are the things you like about me so much?" You keep pushing further, really wanting to get proper answers to this.
It's obvious how Lorenzo wants to go back to only showing confidence, but the more he thinks about reasons why he loves you, the more flustered he's getting to the point where he's unable to answer at all. Lorenzo being at a loss for words is something you've never seen before, but it's kinda fun and something you could definitely get used to. Maybe you should get him flustered more often.
But for now, you decide to have some mercy with him and change the conversation topic to something else. And even though Lorenzo is back to talking, you can see how he's still struggling every now and then because he's definitely still thinking about the things he loves about you. Maybe he'll be able to say those some time else.
Besides that, the date continues going very well for both of you. Until the moment comes around that Lorenzo has secretely started dreading, which has added to his flusterness to some extend.
Who's gonna pay? Are both of you going to pay for your own food? Should he pay since he's the one who invited you? Should you split the bill in half?
Even though that's something important to ask, it's related to money so Lorenzo is unsure if he should say something about it. You can see the struggle on his face. It's kinda cute to look at, knowing he's overthinking simply because of you. To spare him from any further struggling, you decide to make things easier for him.
"I'll pay, alright?"
And that's it. He doesn't say no, he only nods and thanks you in response because he knows if he made money a topic now, he might push you away again after the date went so well.
But actually, date is not over yet. According to your original plan it should be, but you're having so much fun that going home now feels wrong. So instead, you get back into Lorenzo's car and he just drives around for a bit so you get to talk more. When you got into the car he offered you to put on music again, but you declined because it would only serve as distraction from any conversations that could get more serious.
"You never actually told me how you ended up in Ubers." You say in a curious but questioning tone, expecting to receive a simple answer similar to what you've heard from other players.
"You really want to know?" Lorenzo's tone is serious, but in a weird way that almost feels out of character for him.
"If you want to tell me."
"Hm..." Lorenzo needs a moment to figure out how to tell you about this past. He didn't really expect to get this personal with you tonight, but he doesn't really mind either. He's never cared much about telling others about how he ended up in Ubers, but when it comes to you he's suddenly so serious about things because he's trying to not do or say anything that could push you only slightly away from him.
"I'll just keep it short, okay?" A smile returns to his face in order to not drag down the mood, even though what he's about to tell you isn't the happiest story. "My parents were shit and abondened me, I was homeless, then Snuffy got me out of the streets and asked me to play soccer for him."
It takes you a few seconds to let that sink in. "...You were homeless? Oh my- I'm so sorry-"
"Eh, don't be." Lorenzo shrugs. "That was in the past. I'm doing great now. After all... I got to go on a date with you tonight.~"
And that's how he gains another blush from you.
"Tell me, is that why you're obsessed with money? Because you used to have none?"
"I thought we're not talking about money tonight?" Lorenzo pulls the car to the side and brings it to a stop. "Isn't that what you wanted?"
"You're not wrong but-" You unbuckle your seatbelt so you can lean closer towards him. "Isn't this something important I should know about you?"
"It is, I guess." Lorenzo shrugs before unbuckling his seatbelt as well, leaning closer to you, too. "But yes, you're right. That's where my obsession comes from."
"I'm so sorry for you, I didn't know you ha-"
Lorenzo puts a finger on your lips to make you stop talking. "I told you to not be sorry. So don't be, okay?"
His action makes you giggle a bit. "Okay okay. But... Hm... You know, it's nice to know more about you now. And also to know where your money obsession comes from."
Lorenzo only nods in response. He didn't even listen to you properly. After touching your lips with his finger, kissing you is all he can think about now. Due to that his blush is returning, just this time you don't know the reason.
Lorenzo wants to kiss you. He really, really wants to. But he feels like it's too early for you. It's just the first date, after all.
"Maybe it's time to get you home. It's getting late." He says when he regains his ability to speak. He was about to drift off into thoughts about a kiss, but stopped himself before that happened.
You're a bit confused why he didn't respond to what you last said, but decide to not point it out and agree with him instead. It really is getting late by now and as much as you'd love to spend more time with Lorenzo, it's time to go home.
When he drops you off at home, Lorenzo once again gets out of the car to open the door for you and helps you out. This time, his grip on your hand is a little tighter than earlier, but he lets go quickly after you get out of the car. Instead, he wraps his arm around your body and places his hand on your waist as he walks you to the door. Just before you get to take your keys out, he starts talking again.
"I think I like... No, I know I love you even more now." Lorenzo reaches out his other hand. "And you know... There's a thing that I'd still really like to have." He points at the area on your chest where your heart is, but without touching you there. "Tell me, how can I buy that?" He says jokingly, but there's a hint of seriousness in his voice.
"Are we really going back to this?" You say in a teasing tone while taking his hand into yours. "You were getting really close to winning the chance for a second date, you know?"
Now that you're holding his hand again, Lorenzo uses the opportunity to pull you closer to his body. "And you know I was joking, right?"
"When it comes to you and money, I can never know."
"This is not about money, it's about your love. And I think..." Lorenzo leans his face closer to yours, but not close enough for a kiss. "...I might get more serious about that than I am about money."
"Oh? Really?" Another blush forms on your cheeks, and this time it's stronger than the few times before.
"I have all the money I could ask for already, there's nothing to aim for with it anymore. But when it comes to you... There's something to fight for."
"Who said you still have to fight?"
Lorenzo squeezes your hand a little tighter and the one that's previously been on your waist now wanders over to the back of your head. "Are you implying I won your love already? With one date?"
"Let's say... you're close."
"Close enough for a kiss?"
Your blush gets a bit stronger. "Close enough for a kiss."
Lorenzo doesn't hesitate for a single second and pulls you in for a kiss, wishing it wouldn't have to end. When you pull away from each other, he looks into your eyes with an amount of love and admiration so big, it brings butterflies right into your stomach.
"So... The second date will happen, right?" Lorenzo asks while pulling his arms away so you can get your keys out of your pocket.
"You really think I'd say no after this?"

Everybody wants to touch George after he wins his first Grand Prix. Hands clasping him, lifting him up, hands on his back and his shoulders and his arse: he gets more physically intimate with the guys in the Mercedes garage, in those heady post-race moments, than some of the people he’s dated. Half of the guys he only has their names memorised because he’s watched Lewis, how Lewis remembers everybody and how many kids they have and what their hobbies are. Now he knows them in a more animal way, body to body. Victor to acolyte.
The one person George most wants to touch doesn’t hang around, obviously, for the interviews and the podium celebration and the big Mercedes team picture. George sends a text when he’s finally leaving the paddock, champagne-sticky and wrung-out and tired and buzzing, but tells himself it’s fine if he doesn’t get an answer. Alex is probably already asleep.
You up, mate?
The flutter he feels in his chest when he sees Alex is typing a reply doesn’t bear thinking about. Why mr russell, is this a booty call lol Alex writes. Also yes, obviously. At the hotel. A second later he adds Thrilled for you mate well done, followed by an array of trophy and champagne emojis. George stares at the messages for a moment; doesn’t let himself screenshot them, but wants to.
Lewis told him once that the secret to sexting is not to hesitate, which was extremely embarrassing at the time (George had been texting Alex, and yes maybe he was staring at his phone as if the perfect reply might appear there for him if he only gave it long enough, but he wasn’t sexting—“I can tell you’re sexting, man, you’re blushing,” Lewis had said) but is perhaps useful advice for the current circumstances. George and Alex hook up sometimes, and it’s not really an established thing yet, but “is this a booty call lol” is surely an invitation of a kind, right? It’s a door propped open, a light left on. Plus neither of their girlfriends is in São Paulo, and George just won a fucking Grand Prix, so.
Cheers mate, he writes, and then, with more confidence than he feels, Absolutely a booty call, yeah. You want to come to mine?
The time before Alex replies is agony. George forces himself not to text again, not to apologise and turn the whole thing into a joke.
Lol fine but you’d better shower I bet you’re disgusting rn Alex says, eventually. George feels lightheaded, feels ebullient. He writes back Haha no worries def getting in the shower as soon as I get to the hotel 🤪, adds the hotel name and his room number, and shoves his phone into his pocket. When the taxi gets to the hotel he sees Alex has replied Genuinely I’m confiscating your emoji keyboard, and then, Be there in thirty.
The sex is—
It’s always good, with Alex. Better than George thought sex could be, honestly. It’s as if his body and Alex’s body know each other and know exactly what to do, so George can relax and enjoy things instead of overthinking them: Alex braced over him, how good the taut muscles of his arms look, how he brackets George into a small safe space that’s somehow its own entire world. The feel of him inside George, huge and electric. The way his face looks when he’s trying not to come; the stuttering gasp he lets out when he finally does.
Yes, the sex being so good is what fucks it, probably: what makes it seem like George can just say what he's thinking, without trying to refine it or make it palatable first. Alex is petting his hair, and George has had maybe the best orgasm of his life, and he’s a Grand Prix winner, now. He says, “It won’t change anything, you know.”
Alex’s hand goes still for a moment and then resumes. “What won’t change anything, Georgie?”
“My—you know,” George says, feeling oddly embarrassed. “Because I. Winning, I mean.”
“Mmm, well. Why would it.” Alex sounds amused, but amused in the way George hates: amused at George. “Worried you’re too good for me, now you’re Mr Sunday?”
“No, that’s not—”
“Sorry, I only take dick from guys who score points, is that the vibe?”
“Alex, stop it,” George says. Alex doesn’t.
“It doesn’t actually bother me, that you’re on a top team and I’m with fucking Williams,” he says, “obviously winning races is going to be part of that, I don’t—you’re very immature, sometimes, Russell, did you know that?”
“I wasn’t,” George says. “I didn’t—Alex, please—”
“You’ve always been a bit like this, though, haven’t you?” Alex says. “Even when we were in karting, you always—you’re not better, just because you win. It doesn’t matter. It shouldn’t matter.”
George’s chest feels as if it’s been hollowed out and filled with acid, which isn’t a simile: that is simply the only way to describe it. If he put a hand to his own sternum, he wouldn’t be surprised if it came away burned. “Look,” he says, trying to sound reasonable and calm and like someone Alex will want to continue having sex with. “Let’s just—let’s just forget I said anything, ok?”
“All right, George,” Alex says, and if he sounds sceptical and aloof, well. At least he’s still stroking George’s hair.
ty to @janinaduszejko for looking this over! we reckon george and alex probably don't make it in the short term in this universe, but maybe get back together in ten years' time after geroge's tragic divorce and resultant Slut Era

Jessica Biel for CosmoGirl October/November 1999 by Jodi Bryson
Find out why this 7th Heaven star is the coolest friend a girl could have!
"I'm definitely weird," Jessica Biel confesses as she digs  through the knick-knacks in her bedroom.   "I have some really wild  stuff."  She points out her collection of vintage sunglasses, a bunch of  so-bright-they're-blinding wigs, dozens of phone numbers taped to the  wall, and her favorite Abercrombie & Fitch ad.  "He is the hottest  Abercrombie model ever," she says.
The 17 year old star of 7th Heaven just finished her third season  on the show and aced her junior year of high school.  Now she's  flinging clothes around her bedroom to prep for a European vacation with  two of her closest friends.  "I want to go someplace I've never been  with people I really love hanging out with," she says.  "I want to see  some amazing things."
Jessie has that I'll-try-anything-once outlook down pat.  She  started her career as a model, but at 14 decided to give acting a whirl.   Like in a Hollywood fairy tale, she flew to L.A. and had just a few  auditions before scoring the primo role of Mary Camden.
Jessie works on 7th Heaven six days a week, nine months a year.   But as soon as she steps off the set, straight-arrow Mary vanishes and  the real Jessie charms everyone around her with warp-speed chitchat  about her big plans for the future (a backpacking trip with her best  friend, college, and maybe a second career as a photographer).  Clearly,  Jessie is ready to take on the world.  First stop, Europe!
The Big Trip
"I have no idea what to expect," Jessie says of her European  vacation, "but I just can't wait to eat that good food!"  Is she worried  about travelling to strange countries where she doesn't know a soul?   "No, I'm very excited.  My mom has a checklist of things for me to do  before I go:  Make copies of my passport, driver's license, and credit  cards; pack these things close to my body but separate from my wallet.   My mother has planed it all out -- I just gotta do it."
Jessie makes a surprisingly small pile of clothes at the bottom  of her bed, then crams it into a backpack.  "I'm honestly taking one  pair of pants, a T-shirt, a couple pairs of shorts, a few tank tops, a  sweatshirt, a bathing suit, and two pairs of underwear that I'll keep  throwing in the sink.  My camera is the most important thing."
In addition to taking tons of snaps, Jessie has dreamed up the  coolest way to keep track of her European adventures.  "Instead of a  private diary, I'm going to take a big book, like a communal journal,  and anyone can write in it," she says.  "If someone says, 'Can I see  your journal and write a little entry?' that's cool.  It will be nice to  look back and read what we all did and what we felt together."  Bon  voyage!
Best Friends
Her travelling companions are her friends Shane Nelson and Light  Dreamer Eternity.  "Light rocks so hard," Jessie says.  And even though  she lives in L.A. now, Jessie is still supertight with her best friend  from her hometown of Boulder, Colorado, who's also named Jessie.  "I  have pictures of Jessie and me stuck all over my room," she says.   What's her secret for maintaining such strong friendships?  "There's  never the silent treatment," Jessie explains. "If I was in a fight with a  friend, I would just call and be like, What is the deal?  What did I  do?  What do we need to talk about?  How can we get it over with?"   Jessie's the kind of friend who wouldn't let you stay mad at her.
A Special Guy
Will her absence make anyone's heart grow fonder?  Jessie let it  slip that she has a long-distance boyfriend, but then she wouldn't spill  a single detail! (And believe us, we begged!)   But she did share her  sure-fire hook-up advice.  "I'm pretty forward with guys," she says.   "I'll just walk up to somebody and I'll be really blunt and say, 'What a  great-looking person you are!  Have an awesome day.'"   Does that  really work?  "Well, I don't say that to a guy because I want him to be  my boyfriend," she says.  "I just want to tell him."   What guy could  resist?
Prom Night
Unfortunately, Jessie didn't get to take her secret boyfriend to  her junior prom.  "I promised Beverley Mitchell [who plays her younger  sister Lucy on 7th Heaven] that I'd go to her friend's prom.  And she  made me promise that I wouldn't back out.  I found out a week later that  my prom was the exact same day!  So I missed my prom to go to another  prom with this kid who didn't have a date," she says.  She didn't skimp  on glamour for her first prom experience: She wore an elegant white  cami-and-skirt combo with superhigh-heeled sandals.  "It turned out that  we had a good time, but Bev totally owes me!"
Bad Behavior
Jessie doesn't always play it so straight and narrow.  There's a  sneaky story about the pink flamingo hanging from her bedroom ceiling.
"We had just sold our house in Boulder, Colorado, and I loved  that house," she says.  "I wanted to see it one more time.   When my  best friend Jessie and I drove up to it, my eyes welled up -- there was a  pink flamingo sticking out of my front yard!  It was the chessiest  thing I'd ever seen.  I was not happy with that flamingo.  I thought,  This has to go.  So I ran and ripped it out of the ground.  I busted to  the car and yelled, 'Go, Jessie, go!' and we just took off.  I pulled  out the stick and put the flamingo in my suitcase, and took it home with  me," she says.  "I don't think the family even knew it was missing."  Um, Jessie...they do now.
BRIGHT FUTURE
Even though Jessie's a totally fearless adventurer, she still  gets homesick for Boulder.  "I miss the people, I miss the mountains.   It is so laid-back there," she explains.   Does she ever see herself  going back to settle down in the Rocky Mountain foothills?  "I have one  more year of high school, which seems like it's going to take forever --  and then I'm on my own!  I can be wherever I want to be!"   Look out  world -- here she comes!"

hi im writing a character who is really into films and all that stuff so i want him to reference films in conversations and be really knowledgeable about it obviously but im not a film enthusiast so i have no clue where to begin !
Hey there! My advice to you is to do plenty of research - but don't worry, I'm here to help you out with that! Personally, I'm more of a book person myself and tend to doze off during movies, but I can give you a great starting point. You could begin by googling a list of movie or book characters who are also movie enthusiasts. One example I can give you is Stiles Stilinski from Teen Wolf, but there are plenty of others out there to inspire you!
As I go through this post, I just want to clarify that when you said "film," you meant "movie," right? Just want to make sure we're on the same page! But if you did mean "film" in the more technical sense, then there is a difference between the two, but don't worry - my advice still applies! The only thing is that the suggested websites I mentioned are more geared towards movies than films, so keep that in mind.
One thing you could consider when writing a character who's really into movies is to give them a specific genre, or a few genres, that they're particularly passionate about. After all, no one likes every type of movie, so it'll make your character feel more relatable and real. Maybe they're into classic films, or animated movies, or horror films - the possibilities are endless! Once you've figured out your character's preferences, the next step would be to google for lists of famous movies in those genres, ranging from well-known to more obscure titles. Even if you're not interested in watching all of the movies on the list, you can usually find good summaries online to get a sense of the plot and characters. Finally, you can dig deeper by googling the best quotes or lines from those movies, which can add depth and authenticity to your character's references.
Another approach you could take when writing a character who's really into movies is to choose specific genres that they enjoy, and then search for movie references as needed. So if your character wants to make a reference to a classic movie in a particular context, you could try googling "classic movie reference for saying 'no'" or something similar to find some inspiration. This way, you can add in references that feel authentic and meaningful to your character without having to do extensive research ahead of time.
Also keep in mind when writing a character who loves movies is to show that love through actions and not just dialogue. For example, your character could show excitement when they see movie-related merchandise in a store or online, or they could gush about their favorite films to a friend. Their room or house could be decorated with movie posters, and they might own clothes that reference their favorite movies. Additionally, your character could attend events or film festivals to immerse themselves in the movie world. Remember, people don't just talk about the things they like - they often show it through their behavior and actions too!
If you're looking for some helpful websites to research movies for your character who's really into them, I've got a few suggestions for you! Or Google does since that's what I used to find them.
IMDb: This is one of the most comprehensive movie databases out there, with information on movies, TV shows, and celebrities. You can use it to research movies, directors, actors, and more. Plus, IMDb has a user-generated rating system, which can give you an idea of how well-received a movie is.
Rotten Tomatoes: This website aggregates movie reviews from critics and audiences alike, giving each movie a "Freshness" score. You can use it to get a sense of how well-received a movie is, and to read reviews from professional critics and everyday moviegoers.
Letterboxd: This social networking site is specifically designed for movie lovers. Users can rate and review movies, create lists, and follow other users with similar tastes in movies. It's a great resource for discovering new movies and getting recommendations.
Film School Rejects: This website is dedicated to movie news, reviews, and analysis. They cover everything from blockbuster movies to indie films, and offer thoughtful commentary on the film industry as a whole.
ScreenCrush: This website covers movie news, reviews, and features, with a particular focus on the blockbuster movies and franchises that dominate the box office. They also offer plenty of fun movie-related content, like quizzes and opinion pieces.
Collider: This website covers all aspects of pop culture, including movies, TV shows, and comics. They offer news, reviews, interviews, and features, and have a particular focus on genre movies like superhero films and science fiction.
The American Society of Cinematographers: This website is a great resource for learning about the technical aspects of cinematography. Your character might enjoy reading about lighting techniques, camera angles, and more.
No Film School: This website is a community for filmmakers, with articles and resources covering all aspects of the craft. Your character might find useful tips and tricks for making their own movies, as well as insights into the technical aspects of filmmaking.
The Criterion Collection: This is a collection of classic and contemporary films, many of which are critically acclaimed. Your character might enjoy browsing the collection to discover new films to watch and learn from.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences: This is the organization that runs the Oscars. Your character might enjoy reading about the technical awards, such as Best Cinematography, Best Editing, and Best Sound.
Your message put such a smile on my face! I love helping out and it was so great to see you asking for advice. It's always inspiring to see writers seeking to improve their craft. Remember, if you ever need more writing advice or have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out again. I'm here to support you on your writing journey!

i wanted to ask how you just stayed mentally strong after getting through your first round of med school rejections... i haven't gotten an interview from anywhere and it feels as if i'm just behind on the person i wanted to be and i feel a bit lost now... i just wanted some advice since i do feel sad about it all unfortunately :(
Hey, there! I'm really sorry to hear that, I know it's a really tough time to go through. I honestly don't think there was any part of medical school that's been as rough as the application cycle, and it's very understandable to feel sad and rejected.
A lot of it came to my dad's particular brand of supportiveness, which I personally found very reassuring, so I will pass on what he told me and hope that it may offer you some comfort as well:
This is not the end of the world, and there is nothing wrong with trying again. We grow up in this grade school - college - graduate school system where it feels like we have to be doing everything on a specific timeline, and if we don't, we're failures. This is very much not the case with medical school: it is standard and expected to take gap years between college and medical school, only 40% of people who apply to medical school any given cycle are accepted anywhere, and depending on where you get your statistics, anywhere from 1/3-1/2 of current medical students have applied multiple cycles. There's a guy in my class who was 41 years old when he was accepted. You have time, you can try again, and you are not behind because you are not participating in a process in which there are the same standards of "being behind" as you've been experiencing during high school and college.
What you need to do is give yourself some time to work through your feelings with your support system, and then, when you feel like you can, sit down and take a good look at your application to see what there is that can be made more competitive. Is it your grades? I was applying to post-baccs at the same time as my second cycle. Is it your MCAT? I took mine three times before I figured out how to actually study for it properly, and my second score was worse than my first. Is it your extracirriculars? Your shadowing hours? Your essay?
There is no rush, and this is one of those things where putting together a careful plan and following through on it will serve you much better than (like I did, HAH) freaking out, deciding that maybe you should just get a Master's or a PhD instead, and calling up the local state university's biochemistry department in a weird panic to get a sponsor for their graduate school program. (Thank you for talking me down, oh father mine. I don't know how I managed to get that far in like six hours.)
I am a planner at heart, and having these kinds of reassurances and plans in place helped me a lot with feeling like everything was under control. It was also really great to be supported by my family: I'm often so hard on myself that I expected them to be disappointed in me, because my dad especially is very much the, "Oh, a B? Hm... could be better..." type of immigrant parent, but both of my parents were actually incredibly supportive. Lean on your support systems, whatever they may be!
I hope this helped a little bit, anon, and I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors! <3 There is always a way forward! Just because it's not the same one another person took does not make it inferior!

My Top 5 Struggles of Adulting
Tumblr media
Adulting is hard, am I right? There are so many new responsibilities that seem to come out of nowhere. Here are my top 5 struggles of navigating this new adulthood thing:
Bills, Bills, Bills
Why does it feel like as soon as you get your pay check, it's already spent?! Keeping track of due dates, ensuring there's enough in your account, and actually paying the bills on time is way more stressful than I anticipated. Having a pet went from being fun to having a dependent that relies on you at the snap of a finger... But the best way to handle a pay check is not even debit orders keep your money untouched for at leats 24hours, this is could for your credit when it comes to your personal cashflow record in the banking system. And only start paying off bills after then.
To Credit Or Not to Credit
This was my biggest question when finally earning a salary and being stable with working. In the current economic climate credit is what the makes the world go round, good credit score makes you seem responsible and able to handle a car, a house bond, and apartment lease, and even bigger things. But my advice to you with credit is get an easy credit card, maybe for clothes. By small items less than R500, set it to be paid within the next 6 months but pay it back with the next month. It makes you look responsible, and helps build a credit score fast. Hold off on trying to secure a phone contract, don't dive before you've learnt to swim.
Food at Home
Remember when you went out with your parents and asked for take out but they always said there was food at home? You're going to have to make sure that there's food at home. Your cosy little apartment fridge should have more than just snacks. Which brings us to building a grocery list: start with staples that are used on a monthly basis and can last for a few months on end, then when those are around then you can from time-to-time restock on goodies. For me, my goodies are sugary cupcakes that I buy once a month during my big grocery run and watermelon Jolly Ranchers.
Dirty Laundry
How did my parents do this every week for a whole family?! Between finding time to do laundry, folding and putting it all away, and ensuring I have enough clean clothes for the week, it feels never ending—it’s a loop. Best case scenario, try doing it at night just before you sleep and hanging it in the morning just before leaving for morning classes or work, just make sure you have a clean set of clothes still wearable.
Maintaining Friendships
With busy work schedules, errands, classes and life in general, finding time to stay socially connected with friends gets harder and harder. Making an effort to schedule in time to call or grab coffee with friends is almost impossible, but balancing it all certainly isn't easy. But best way to handle it all is your plain old calendar app, get all your friends to agree on a calendar app to use and each person can add dates of when they'd like to grab coffee or go book shopping or to the movies and the others can all see it and agree to attendance if one is missing, simple hold and drag to a more suitable day. Have fun with it!

can you do general headcanons for sova please?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
( Synopsis ) Watch as Sova charges an arrow through our hearts.
( Author's Note ) Sova, Sova, Sova, Sova. THIS IS SO LATE I'M SORRY CODE 💔
( Character ) Sova ;; headcanons
( Content Warning ) Cursing.
( Word Count ) 0.9k+ words // NOT EDITED!
Tumblr media
Archery was the representation of history and tradition forgotten by time. For the mere fact that Sova professionally used it on the battlefield, it scored him some extra points. (Notably towards the younger agents.)
"I remember trying those archery things when I was a kid cause I wanted to look cool." Neon was awed at the futuristic design on Sova's bow. "My back hurt like hell the next day though, so I gave up."
It's alright Neon, Sova did horribly on his first day as well. Ahem ahem.
Once upon a time; First arrow, First step towards the greatness hidden from humankind.
The next day, the arrow misses and goes through his Babushka's favorite knitted blanket. Never has he felt so terrified in his life. The end.
Speaking of knitting, I can see Sova enjoying Omen's knitted crafts since he thinks it's so warm and homey! Like he was always told to stay warm despite enjoying the cold.
Omen knitted Sova that black beanie for Secret Santa.
Sova is THE go-to person on missions if the atmosphere is tense. (Unless he was part of the cause of it or your Cypher).
He gives the older brother vibes to the younger agents, need advice? He'll give you some, only if you your advice in return. That's how the world heals: pure support.
Too cold in Icebox? He'll lend you his massive fur coat, big enough to provide warmth for 3-4 people.
One of the most resourceful agents in Valorant, give some scrap and watch it transform to a simple masterpiece.
He probably throws darts as a backup in case he doesn't have his bow beside him.
Darts, muscle sweaty arms of intense Sova dart match, his toned back... AHEM.
When they found out about this niche talent of his, ohohohooho you better get ready for your sleep schedule to get interrupted Sova.
This leads to him getting forced into a competition between the agents! Only bet Jett wins against Yoru every time cause she experienced the tricks Sova uses firsthand. (A.k.a. Plan R in case she buys too many knives.)
"Sova, wanna play against Kay/o? I'll bet it's a close tie."
"Jett how much was that knife in that package you snuck inside headquarters."
One extremely happy man when Jett called his drone cute.
One extremely confused man when Phoenix wanted his drone to have laser eyes and a fiery effect aura with pew pew pew sound effects.
Is one of the people allowed in the kitchen. (No, instant noodles are not a meal Viper.)
You'll never be hungry when he's around. Mmmm especially when he brought home his Babushka's dishes to the HQ dining table.
Has a habit of making sure everyone eats together. His Babushka always said food tastes better when eaten together, so he'll drag people out of their rooms if he needs to. ESPECIALLY during holidays.
Carries the name of his hometown proudly. But, he doesn't agree with some of the laws in his nation, so he takes it upon himself to protect his family.
One time Sova was admiring Skye's hawk perched upon rafters until Killjoy's turret accidentally alarmed it. Killjoy is now prohibited from tinkering with his equipment.
HE WITNESSED THE AURORA LIGHTS. THE PRETTIEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN ON THE INTERNET THROUGH PICTURES AND ALL THE COLORS BLENDING WITH LIGHTS I WANNA GO THERE SOMEDAY TOO HSJSHSJSHSH
Do you guys know how Sova, Breach and Raze first interacted? Sova was practicing his lineups while Breach was testing his blinds. The Russian shot the arrow, and with perfect accuracy, landed inside Breach's arm. And jammed the whole thing.
Breach was not happy. Raze swore she lost all her bones from holding back her partner in crime, best friend, and brother forever, from attacking the Russian.
Brimstone is another Father to Sova.
So Brimstone locks the three of them inside the storage room like a dad handling his children's arguments. (Viper did not approve but kept her mouth shut once she saw them getting along when she exited her lab.)
Teaches the others how to treat their wounds without Radiant powers or technology. The old-fashioned bandages way. Sova does not like Sage or Skye tiring themselves out.
Is very interested in Astra's studies! He picks up the name of the star and their origins once in a while.
During woodcarving lessons, he carves all the beautiful birds he remembers seeing in the past. To the best of his extent. (Cue to the time Fade wheezed during her first lesson when she saw what he was carving. Sova stared at her stone-faced and she wheeze harder.)
No because he kinda laughed too. (During that time, everyone was a bit more chill around Fade. Looking at you Chamber.)
Let me tell you, he can stand his ground against Reyna. She stops and eventually targets other agents, only for him to show up again. She ends up just toning down and waits until they’re on the battlefield.
He does not care for Cypher. No. He. Does. Not.
(Deep down, he does. This is the only reason why he doesn't act hostile towards Cypher when he's being buddy-buddy. He just keeps quiet. And quietly explodes when he's a bit irritated with him.)
Has a nice afternoon drink with Sage when they're on a downtime. Sage likes teaching Sova her favorite hairstyles. My personal favorite: Sova braided man bun.
Sova's hair > Agent's hair/head/shadow > Chamber's crusty gelled hair.

The Art of Balance: Narcissism vs. Self Esteem
I don’t know everything.
I’ve dabbled in eight types of psychology in the lifespan of this blog; trying to find the answers to all the questions. How do we effectively teach students with special needs? How does childhood neglect effect long term relationships? What is the correlation between physical and mental wellness?
If you have been an avid reader of this blog for a while, those titles may be very familiar. There was a peak in 2019, however, where people were extremely interested in my essays about relationship psychology. My theory was that it was during the peak of COVID, and with the rise of dating apps, people were starting to forget what it was like to be in the conscious world.
I had no problem writing about relationship psychology until June 2021, where my own relationship of almost 3 years, collapsed. I began to doubt myself; how am I going to sit here and give advice to everyone else when I didn’t know how to save my own relationship?
And that’s when the spiral began.
I began to doubt myself. I was tired; I had put so much time and effort into my relationship that I forgot who I was. I had lost touch with all my friends; all the people who brought out the best in me and shared my passions. And roughly eight months into being single, I sang a note. Ten months into being single, I had pulled up my old texts and put pen to paper. A year into being single, I took my aggression out on a drum kit.
I began to fall in love with myself again. Deep and dangerously in love with myself.
My self confidence was at a peak. I dyed my hair black. I changed up my style. I wore high heels everywhere. I didn’t leave the house without doing my hair. I wore eyeliner. I never looked at my feet when I walked. I disregarded the men who approached me. And when I walked into a room, instead of looking at everyone else in it, my eye caught a mirror instead.
And that’s when it hit me. I was frozen in place; standing in the middle of a bar on Queen Street. This is wrong. I had forgotten what it was like to give love to someone else because I was too busy focusing on loving myself.
Just like that, I was introduced me to the biggest lesson I could learn in my life: balance.
I had always thought I had balance in my life. I meditated twice a day, I exercised five days a week. I didn’t drink every weekend, but had my glass of wine once in a while. I didn’t eat fast food. i worked extremely hard during the week and had my fun on the weekends. I spent equal time with my family and friends.
But that was the problem: it was all about me.
We all go through healing phases where we focus on ourselves, however it’s important that we don’t lose sight of what it means to be considerate of others.
I found, date after date, that I just wasn’t able to focus on anyone other than myself because I had been so focused on myself it had turned into a habit. I didn’t know how to do anything else. It was almost as if I was jealous of others getting attention from myself. Sounds crazy, doesn’t it?
You’d be surprised.
Have you ever heard that myth about the man who fell so in love with his reflection, that he literally couldn’t take his eyes of it, and eventually died in the same spot all while staring at his reflection? This is a lovely phenomenon called Narcissism. And yes, his name was “Narcissus.”
According to Scott Kaufman of the Scientific American, most recent research suggests that “narcissism differs significantly from self-esteem in its development, origins, consequences, and outcomes (Kaufman, 2017).”
“The prototypical grandiose narcissist is characterized by arrogance, superiority, vanity, entitlement, exploitativeness, exhibitionism, and the incessant need for acclaim from others,” Kaufman explains. “Those scoring high on measures of self-esteem, however, tend to feel satisfied with themselves but do not necessarily see themselves as superior to others.“
I remember doing all those things, claiming they were for me, but not once did I feel satisfied.
And that’s when I said screw it, and bought a last minute plane ticket, and went to Italy. The story of my trip is highly documented on this blog however, when I got back, it was the first time I had began to type out words that meant something to me.
I had realized that when I was writing before, I was forcing myself. I didn’t actually want to write, I just wrote because I had missed doing it. I finally felt like the roadblock between me and my art was finally gone. But the truth was, that roadblock was me. And when I sat back and read through each paragraph, I felt butterflies in my stomach. Not pride, but satisfaction. I was back.
And there are times, like today, where I question my ability to love again. For example, when I get writer’s block, I question my love for writing, even though writing is something that comes natural to me.
But I always remember: just because something comes natural, doesn’t mean it should be constant.
You may love someone from the bottom of your heart, but there will be times where they hurt your feelings and you’re not able to look at them. But that doesn’t mean you don’t love them, it just means that you need to find a reason to fall back in love with something.
The same goes for yourself.

Gasly reveals how a phone call with Vettel put him on path to F1 debut | 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix
Pierre Gasly has revealed his gratitude for the help Sebastian Vettel offered when he was seeking an opportunity to race in Formula 1 six years ago. He described Vettel, who has announced he will retire from F1 at the end of the year, as “a guy I’ve always had so much respect for.” The pair were briefly together at Red Bull in 2014. Vettel was in his final season of driving for the team when Gasly, then racing in Formula Renault 3.5, was appointed to its junior squad. “I had the chance, when I entered into the Red Bull programme, to get closer to him for his last season in Red Bull, see how much effort [he made], see his work ethic inside the team, his dedicated for the sport,” recalled Gasly. Two years later he won the GP2 (now Formula 2) championship. But there were no seats available for Gasly in either of Red Bull’s two F1 teams. He asked Vettel, now a Ferrari driver, for his advice. “I always remember when I won my GP2 title and I didn’t get promoted to Formula 1 straight away – I was in Singapore when this happened – I remember calling him one night and I just wanted like five minutes to get his opinion about it and get his view and try to get some advice on how to deal with the Red Bull situation. “It turned out to be a one-and-a-half hour call. At the time it was like ‘you’re an F1 driver racing for Ferrari – in your list of priorities, I’m very, very low,’ but he still took 90 minutes to speak with me and advise me on how to cope with the situation, how to deal with Red Bull, gave me advice on how to make the situation progress. I think he’s a fantastic driver, but also a great human being.” Gasly eventually made his F1 debut with Toro Rosso (now AlphaTauri) later in 2017. He had an unsuccessful half-season at Red Bull in 2019, before returning to his previous team, which he continued to drive for. In 2020 he scored his only F1 victory to date with a shock win in the Italian Grand Prix. Vettel “did call me after the race to congratulate me,” said Gasly. “He told me he was pleased for France… he was really pleased for me. “I think we always got on very well together. We have some, I will say, similar traits of character, not all of them, but some are similar and I think that’s why we do have a lot of respect for each other.” F1 “will definitely miss him”, said Gasly. “First of all, he’s a legend of the sport. Just looking at the numbers – four world championships, the number of victories, pole positions. “I also think he’s quite a loud personality and I think he’s a character inside the paddock. So definitely I feel everybody is going to miss him.” Advert | Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix Browse all 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix articles via RaceFans - Independent Motorsport Coverage https://www.racefans.net

Request 5: Techno and the voices simping for the reader, maybe after reader gets in (and wins) a fight or something more domestic like farming or playing with Steve

(Technoblade X Female Reader)
~Added a little bit of spice~
Technoblade kicked the snow off his boots sending little flurries all inside the doorway of his cabin. He had just arrived home, he was coming home much later than he anticipated getting held up at a long-running syndicate meeting. He was greeted by the savory smell of baked potatoes and steak, it had him practically drooling. Techno wandered into the kitchen after hanging up his cloak by the door, his plate was sitting in the furnace. He peeked inside and saw it was set on low heat just to keep his food warm, he smiled softly.
‘She’s so thoughtful. Keeping it warm for us. We should give her a kiss! Where even is she? Find her before you eat. You can sit together!’
Technoblade let out a soft hum of acknowledgment listening to the advice of the voices and searching for his lady love. He stepped into the living room and noticed the fire was roaring away in the fireplace, you were still here then, very early on he made sure you knew to put the fireplace out when you were finished in the room. He had a close call with Tommy when he was living here, and since then he made sure to remind you constantly about the fireplace. He spotted you and Steve curled up next to one another by the said fireplace, you were buried in his white fur and he was snoring away loudly beside you. A book was in your lap and you were wearing one of his shirts as a pajama top, socks with little bears on them adorned your feet.
‘Oh my god, they’re so cute together. Take a picture! Take a picture! She looks so peaceful…’
Technoblade smiled gently making sure he did end up snapping a picture, just so he could tease you about it later. Plus you were adorable and you snuggling with Steve really melted his frozen heart,
‘SIMP!’
“You guys are doing the same thing shut up.” He growled under his breath finally walking over to you, Steve cracked his eyes open and let out a low snarl before comprehending who stood in front of him. Once he recognized The Blade he let out a disgruntled huff before falling back asleep, his movement caused you to stir. Technoblade watched as you rub the sleep from your eyes, before running your hands through your messy hair. “Morning Princess,” He cooed squatting down beside you. You blinked blearily at him for a moment before a smile lit up your face, you moved quickly wrapping your arms around his shoulders. He couldn’t help but smile in response to the hug, his hands were placed on his lower back as he squeezed.
‘So small and cute. Just like a little kitten.~ Can you give her a kiss now? I’m tired of asking for a kiss just do it. Stop making him sound like a simp. Wait look she’s pulling away-’
You pressed a kiss to his lips murmuring a weak, ‘welcome home Protesilaus.’ He shivered a little at the use of his Greek title and gave you a kiss back.
“Did you make me dinner?” You hummed nodded your head sleepily, “You spoil me, Princess.” He cupped your cheek with his hand and you nuzzled into it, you looked blissful.
“Only cause you deserve it, big guy. Want me to sit with you while you eat.”
“If you’re up for it.” Another kiss was pressed against the side of his lips and he purred fondly. You giggled a little and he flushed darkly, “Don’t laugh at me that’s cringe.”
“Not laughing at you, I just love it when you purr. You’re like a big lion, who’s only soft for me.” He scoffed with an eye roll,
     “I’m soft to no one.”
“Sure you’re not Tech.” You gently pat his cheek before standing up and cracking your back, Technoblade stood up beside you. The both of you walked into the kitchen, you sat at the table while he grabbed his meal. He dug in and his eyes fluttered,
“This is so good, god I’m so glad you’re my girlfriend.”
“Just for the cooking?” You teased fluttering your eyes at him and he looked thoughtful for a moment,
“Well, that and the great se-” You let out an indignant sound interrupting his sentence you went so red it even spread to your ears. Technoblade laughed loudly, “You’re so adorable when you’re flustered,” a smirk spread across his lips.
‘We got her. Oh my god, she’s so cute. Awwww she’s embarrassed what a sweetheart. You should pinch her cheeks. Show her what we mean- DON’T BE GROSS. He was gross first though!’
“You’re a terror,” You scoffed fanning your hot face with your hand trying to cool yourself down.
“Exactly and don’t you forget it, Princess.” He had a soft pink flush across his cheeks as you flipped him off, “Maybe later.”
“Techno!” You squawked as he roared with laugher, “What is with you tonight!?”
“I just missed you. I’ve been away from you all day can you blame me?”
“I suppose not…” You trailed off smiling softly over at him and he smiled right back at you. “I’m going to head to bed, you coming or what?”
“I’m right behind you.” He hummed placing his plate in the sink before following you up the stairs.
The next morning was dedicated solely to you, not only because Technoblade wanted to but also because the voices just wanted to stay close to you. Your head was tightly tucked underneath his chin as he watched you sleep. The rise and fall of your chest was hypnotic and he placed his hand on your chest feeling your heartbeat flutter against his hand. He smiled watching you wake up for a second time with a sweet yawn, he kissed your nose as you regained consciousness. You snickered softly giving him a kiss right back, “Morning Techno.”
“Morning Princess,” He greeted, “I was wondering if you wanted to walk Steve with me today.”
“I’d love nothing more,” you smiled warmly “on one condition.”
“And that would be?” Technoblade raised an eyebrow, his hand gently stroking your hip.
“I get to wear your cape.” His face scrunched up with disgust,
“My cape is sacred, you know this.”
“I promise I’ll take really good care of it. Please for your wonderful and stunning girlfriend.”
“Eh?” He muttered as you batted your eyelashes at him, and despite his original distaste the voices melted seeing your face.
‘She’s so cute. Adorable, look at those big ole eyes. Tell her she’s cute! Love of our life truly. She’s a teasing little shit ain’t she? Let her wear the cape, what's the harm?’
“Cringe,” Technoblade said instead and the voices groaned loudly in his ears, he watched your face settle into a pout. He clicked his tongue annoyed at your pout, “come or don’t either way I gotta walk Steve- oof-“ Technoblade grunted as you sat down on his hips glaring at him.
“Give me the cape now.” You glared into his eyes, hands gripping onto his shoulders, his eyes lit up with amusement.
“Oh, you taking charge here Princess? I don’t mind if you think you can handle me.” The voices and he relished in the way your entire face turned red and you rested your forehead on his neck.
“You’re impossible but I’m still taking your fucking cape cringe-lord.”
“Nerd.” He mused with a fond kiss to your lips, “but fine. I suppose you can borrow it.” Technoblade relented with a small smile, as your entire face lit up like the sun.
‘Worth it. That smile! Be still my heart! She’s going to look so adorable. Trust us Techno you made the correct choice.’
He rolled his eyes and watched you tilt your head to the side, “The voices?” Technoblade gave a little nod.
      “They’re being stupid.”
‘STUPID! FUCK OFF! WE’RE HELPING YOU SCORE!’
      “What’re they saying?”
Sweat gathered on Technoblade’s brow, well now he couldn’t say they were complimenting you. He’d look like such an asshole.
“Nothing important.” He tried to cover himself up quickly and you gave a little smirk of your own. “Shut up don’t-“
“Aw, do they like me?~” You cooed pinching the man’s cheek. “I love them too, they’re a part of you after all.” Now it was Technoblade’s turn to flush red all over if the voices weren’t gushing before they were now.
‘Kiss her oh my god kiss her. We love her too! Tell her that right now! She needs to know! Bark bark bark bark! Everyone here is a simp. I’m the only one with a brain cell. Technooooooo tell her pleaaaaaseeeee.’
“They Ugh...they want me to tell you they love you too.” He watched you smile again, “they also want me to give you a kiss.”
“Well tell them I accept their kiss.”
“Oh, they know sweetheart believe me.” He leaned forward to capture your lips, he felt you sigh pleasantly against them. His hands moved down to rest on your hips, rubbing gentle circles on them. He tilted his head to deepen the kiss but you pulled away from him, he let out a growl of disagreement.
“Oh hush up you grump. We have to feed the bears and dogs, plus if we’re walking Steve we need to get going.”
“Tease.” He grunted as you whacked him on the chest, before hopping off his lap to get dressed. He followed you out of bed, as the both of you got ready for the day ahead. You finished before Techno and slid down the ladders to whip up a quick breakfast and feed Steve. By the time Technoblade came downstairs, Steve was happily chowing away and you handed Technoblade two slices of bread. He gave you a quick kiss on the side of his head before shoveling the food into his mouth, he heard you giggle and he raised an eyebrow. “What’re you laughing at exactly?”
“You’re eating like Steve,” Technoblade made an indignant sound of protest which only caused you to laugh harder. Sometimes he genuinely wondered how he put up with you but then he remembered he loved you and wouldn’t trade you for the world. He only rolled his eyes at you before grabbing Steve’s designated leash and hooking him up to it, the bear let out a huff and his little stub of a tail began to wiggle. “Someone’s excited,” You cooed at the bear scratching under his chin, “My big ole sweetheart.”
“(Y/n) he’s supposed to be a killing machine please don’t coddle him.”
“Oh fuck off Techno. Look at his face!” You squished the bear’s cheeks between your hands, “he wouldn’t hurt a fly!” The bear rumbled loudly in his throat but it was more of a pleasant sound than a threatening one. Technoblade raised an eyebrow at the antics before him,
“Leave our guard bear alone and go put on your boots.” You huffed but ultimately decided not to be a brat and listen to your boyfriend for once, you stood beside the door as Steve and he wandered up towards you. An eyebrow was raised and he looked you up and down,
     “What?”
     “Aren’t you forgetting something?”
He watched you slowly blink before patting the sides of your winter jacket, and he chuckled deeply. He took off his cape and draped it across your shoulders, your face lit up and you snuggled into the fluff. It flowed behind you much more than it did when Technoblade wore it, it was swallowing you up.
‘She’s so precious! We were correct, good job Techno. Such a good, sweet girl. We’re protecting her from the harsh elements! True! You don’t want her to get sick do you?’
Technoblade snapped out of his thoughts as he felt a soft kiss against the side of his cheek, “Thank you Tech, you made my morning.”
     “Anything for you.”
‘We’d kill for her you know. If anyone even looks at her wrong we’ll tear them apart. Guys, could you lighten up a little? Sheesh. Never she’s our stability.’
“Shall we?” He held out his arm and you wrapped your hand around it snuggling against his side, he really was down bad for you. The both of you stepped out it was a beautiful sunny day the wind only a gentle chill, Techno grunted as Steve eagerly pulled him forward. He heard you laugh as he stumbled down the steps, he shot you a glare over his shoulder and you flipped him off.
‘Hot.’
Technoblade’s face scrunched up in disbelief, “what the hell chat…” he muttered but the heat he felt in his cheeks showed he agreed with the voices. Once again at his side the two of you walked in the direction of Snow Chester, once you both came to the shoreline Technoblade turned towards you. “Would you like to visit L’manhole someday day soon?”
“Like you even have to ask me that. I’d love to see the damage you caused.”
‘Our little anarchist in training.~ I for one, Can’t wait for her to join the Syndicate. We don’t want her to remember, we want to protect her. Exactly, her joining could put her at risk.’
“Then we’ll go soon I promise.”
“I look forward to it big guy,” You cooed, pressing a feather-light kiss to his lips that sent electricity down to the tips of his toes. He tilted his head deepening the kiss slightly, his hand cupping your cheek, it was so small in his hand. He loved hearing the soft whimper you made against his lips as his tongue slipped into your mouth but the moment was shattered as he heard Steve let out a low warning growl. He rapidly pulled away and shoved you behind his back, he came face to face with BadBoyHalo, the egg cult leader himself. “Is that BBH?”
“Looks like it,” Techno muttered as you slipped out from behind him, the demon was in his smaller form and he waved enthusiastically. “Careful Princess,” Techno murmured hesitantly, watching him skip over, “remember the egg.”
“I got this Tech, no worries. I’ll be back in a moment alright.” You met Bad halfway and Technoblade shuffled uncomfortably.
‘Don’t let her go. He’s gonna hurt her. Keep a steady eye. She’s not fragile but eavesdrop just in case. Be careful, and keep alert. Blood for the Blood God. Not yet shut up.’
Technoblade clicked his tongue but did eavesdrop on their conversation allowing Steve to sniff at the ground nearby for bugs.
“(Y/n) my little muffin! How’re you doing?”
“I’m doing good Bad! I haven’t seen you in a while, how're you doing? Still doing egg stuff?”
“Of course silly! That’s why I wanted to visit you.” He grabbed your hands, “I need your help.” He grazed his claws across the back of your hands, Techno watched you raise a suspicious eyebrow.
‘That’s my girl. Always being suspicious and alert.’ He mentally praised, and the voice agreed with his though,
“And that help would be what exactly?”
“You need to convince Techno to give the egg a second chance!” You stared at him blankly and Technoblade tried not to laugh.
“Bad, you’re one of my good friends but I fucking hate the egg too.” His smile faltered a little bit and Technoblade’s hand went to the sword on his hip. Bad’s smile quickly returned and cupped your cheeks,
“Language dear.” He scolded his smile turning strained, “this just means I need to introduce you to the egg silly! It’s going to love you,”
“Bad No.” He began to squeeze your face, nails digging into the flesh of your cheeks. Your eyes flashed with fear and Technoblade was about to step forward and intervene but skidded to a halt as he watched you knee Bad in the stomach. Technoblade’s jaw fell open, as you grabbed Bad’s arm as he bent over in pain and flipped him over your shoulder slamming his back into the snow and dirt. Bad let out a pained sound, but all Technoblade could focus on was the way his cape flew to the side with a flourish as you recovered. Your hair stuck to your cheeks as you glowered at the demon, “Don’t touch me.” You stood up, looking more regal than Techno’s ever seen you look, “Go home Bad, and don’t come back till you’ve sorted yourself out. This egg thing has really fucked with your head.” You walked back over towards Techno and smirked at him the fire in your eyes still burning bright. You brought a hand towards his face and you closed Technoblade’s jaw with your finger, “You’re going to catch flies babe.” His jaw snapped shut as you winked at him, you took Steve from his hand and began to walk away.
‘Damn the cape’s covering her ass. THAT’S WHAT YOU’RE FOCUSING ON?! SHE JUST FLIPPED BADBOYHALO LIKE HE WAS A SACK OF POTATOES! NO FUCKS GIVEN! Stop screaming you’re too loud. Get me a woman who can flip me like that. God, I love strong women. Techno go make out with her right now don’t let her get away with that! We made the right choice with her, maybe she should join the Syndicate. Yeah but then seeing this side wouldn’t be as special-’
“Tech you coming?” You called over your shoulder,
‘Yes ma’am. Anything for you. Such a tease.’
He said nothing but followed in your footsteps, hands twitching at his sides, desperately trying to ignore the way the voices purred and begged for him to make out with you right here in the snow.
As soon as you removed the collar from around Steve’s neck, and hung it back in it’s place by the door Technoblade pushed you up against the wall. You gave a squeak in surprise that he absolutely relished in, maybe he was a little bit of a sadist. His cape fell from your shoulders with a soft clatter as he roughly pressed his lips to yours, he watched your eyes droop closed before closing his eyes as well. “That was the hottest thing we’ve ever fucking seen,” He growled against your lips hoisting you up so that your legs wrapped around his waist.
“We?” You said breathlessly as his kisses moved from your lips and down to your neck,
“The voices.” He nipped at the skin between your shoulder and neck, enjoying the way your breath hitched in your throat.
“Oh,” was all you managed to get out letting your head fall back against the wall with a soft thump. Techno snickered against the burning skin on your neck, you whined a little before meekly murmuring, “Don’t stop. Please Technoblade.”
‘Well, you heard the little lady. Don’t stop Technoblade. Make her beg some more first. Agreed, that’s what she gets for teasing us after all. Give the girl what she wants already. Who are we to deny her when she looks like that? We live to please one person and that’s her.’
Technoblade panted softly, throughout his life he was never one to deny giving the voices what they wanted. Especially when that something was you.
