Hela | What If
Love that What If s2 gave us a Hela that is:
- bold, witty (for sure the sis of Thor & Loki), willing to learn, adorable in traditional Chinese dress (汉 Hàn 服 if I'm not wrong- the Han's costume - the contrast & line delivery, damn), a polyglot (likely a studious daughter, not like we expect any less from her but still, screw Odin..), has a great sense of humour & charm
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- knows what's up, willing to sacrifice her crown ("Are you,Hela, the goddess of crowns?" "Give him Hell" 😭 like the one she was banished in) but still would immediately start a fight with her nemesis Raggy 😆
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't think it's necessarily Goddess of Death vs Goddess of Life here. She could very well still be the Goddess of Death, but only the death of the evil, having gained a new appreciation for life. These are just titles and we stan a versatile queen who can be whoever she wants to be.
More things I love in this:
Hela & Fenris 🥰, Cate Blanchett (her accent & voice 🤩, altho her mandarin voice is like a different person), Hela in 汉服 just hits home for me, she and her siblings getting along (pls marvel we need more, same goes to her facing off thanos)

Connections between Gods of Stories: Control vs Freedom
From "Loki God of Stories - A Comparison between MCU and Comics" series - Co-Written by @lucianalight (Luci) and @theitcharchives (Hollow)
MCU Loki’s story begins as the sidelined, undervalued second prince of Asgard. He is different in all the wrong ways, preferring magic and cunning to “bravery” and brute force. After growing up lonely and internalizing the bias against the Jotnar he then learns he was stolen from Jotunheim (after seemingly being left to die of exposure, implied by the attitude of the movie towards the matter) to be a puppet king–his destiny chosen by others for him.
(Even though Odin says he changed his mind which would have been an amazing thing to explore in later movies or series.)
Breaking under the constant pressure plus the shocking revelations, Loki spiraled until suicide seemed to be his only remaining means of control over himself left.
And that didn’t work either. Thanos found him, saw he could handle the tesseract business and had him brainwashed into it through Ebony Maw’s torture (as can be assumed by Loki’s Stuttgart speech and Ebony Maw’s own speech and treatment of Doctor Strange in IW). So even in arguably his most dominating vestments, Loki had no true control over himself.
(Which was another thing ignored after the events.)
Being caught by the TVA showed him that actually, no one truly had control over their destiny. He discovered He Who Remains did.
And he saw himself and what he could be in HWR. Someone afraid (and yet morbidly proud) of what his actions could cause, driven to become the ultimate tyrant to prevent those consequences. Now he’s got a dilemma: eliminate the tyrant and leave everyone free to bring about multiversal wars, or maintain the “sacred” status quo?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Comics the three All-Mothers promised Loki that with every mission as the agent of Asgard, one of his old crimes would be removed from history. It meant a new start for Loki but he later finds out that All-Mothers’ goal was for him to play his old role, a villain who brings Ragnarok because it was better for everyone else. Everyone but Loki.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I think it’s worth acknowledging there’s a good chance that the s1 parallels are mostly accidents. That those verbal and physical dressing drowns were not born of a will to be inspired by good stories but a will to be cruel to the character due to ignorance, self-righteousness and arrogance. Still, with the s2 outcome, we can be charitable and also consider there's a good chance they were actually planned and waldron’s hackery did not supersede the overarching ideas. I still think the execution and out-universe presentation of it was horribly handed -Hollow)

17.?
17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?
Tw for child abuse
When Loki is a teen like 14/15, Laufey is called in for a peace conference that SOMEHOW ended up happening, not entirely sure. Over the course of this, Laufey learns that Loki is his son and is none to happy. Because as he recalls, his late wife had been hiding with their newborn son in the temple for protection, ergo: Fárbauti was almost certainly murdered and Loki kidnapped.
During the course of the conference, Laufey notices that Loki is clearly being abused by Odin and neglected by Frigga despite her best efforts (she is very busy) and Thor is no better off, but less obvious about it. The incident with Sif's hair happens and Loki gets his lips sewn shut in front of the peace conference and Laufey has just sort of had it. He then gets up and starts shouting about how Loki has been kidnapped and Odin is a horrible person, etc, etc just the beat down he deserved but never got. Odin is taken into custody and Frigga is declared regent.
Laufey takes custody of Loki and does NOT return to Jotunheim, instead the peace conference (or maybe a conference about what to do regarding Thanos?? Idk. Either peace conference or they're prepping for a fight) keeps Laufey in Asgard. Asgard is very unhappy about this, despite the fact that they sort of hate Loki, and Loki is horrified and struggling to come to terms with everything, but Laufey is a decent parent and actually helps him.
Cue lots of Laufey and Loki bonding broken by Asgard being butts but LEARNING TO BE BETTER and Laufey co-parenting Thor.
The story ends when the threat is eliminated or the conference is over. Thor and Loki are still friends and siblings at the end of this. It is extremely important to me that Loki does not abandon his brother for his new family because that always happens in Jotunheim fics and I hate it.
+Laufey being able to grow/shrink with magic because I personally find the hassle of dealing with a giant vs tiny small vulnerable child kinda frustrating. Loki needs a proper hug. ergo: grow/shrink magic.
+Thor getting hit by Odin for something pretty menial and Laufey temporarily considering adopting him, too (I just need thor to have a good father, okay? please.)
+Laufey not having his other kids on Asgard, so he can focus his entire attention on Loki
+Heimdall being some weird uncle-ish figure
+Loki's heritage being like on the bottom of the list of things they need to deal with, the longstanding emotional abuse/manipulation being the priority.
+Asgard throwing a brick through the window of where Laufey and Loki are staying early on with a threat and Loki freaking out about it.
+Oh! this one would actually be really fun to play around with the idea that Loki and Thor were raised as twins
Idk. I just really like the fics where abused child gets adopted by a competent adult and they work on things together, but it would be like. Loki's actual dad. +Thor gets a bonus dad. (please let him have a hug too*) It's a win for everyone.
I do not want to write this because it sounds extensive and exhausting. I would love to read it. I would sell my soul to read this, but I could not drag this highly detailed AU out of my brain under gun threat. I have thought about this extensively for probably three years, but as you can see. I have not written anything. Idk. Maybe someday I can wrestle something out.
that said, if anyone feels the desire to write this out, feel free. And please let me know because I will LITERALLY BETA THIS AND READ THIS AND COMMENT AND PLEASE.
----
*i have read fics where Loki gets rescued from the abusive environment, but not any where the competent adults realize Loki and Thor need to be pulled from Odin's custody. Thor is nto okay. thor is not okay. Thor is not okay. thor is not okay

Have an outline for a fic I may never write:
some background: the year is 2012, and everything is Avengers. People still write these (❤️ u), but it's the golden age of avengers tower fics. Everyone is friends in messy dramatic ways, overpowered oc's abound and it's fabulous.
This is also the golden age of Loki drama. It started with Thor, but ramped up with Avengers. The discourse was usually "Loki is entirely Evil mcEvil" vs "Loki is my perfect shmoopy-poo, and Thor is a Murderous Meanie"
I'd settled (& found others too) on "Loki DEFINITELY killed people but he was also obviously under duress." I'd recently read some early Diana Wynn Jones (Dogsbody and Eight Days of Luke), I was listening to a lot of Florence and the Machine (Heartlines) and somehow all of that blended to create...this tropey monstrosity. I just didn't have the skill to sit down and bang it out, and I still don't really
(tw for...well Loki's mental state at the end of Thor did not exactly get better by Avengers.)
This is part one|
We start out directly after Avengers, with Thor bringing Loki home to Asgard to face judgement.
Imagine Loki, before the dias in the throne room of the palace of Asgard. It's fall, there is an occasional chill breeze.
Odin, Frigga, and Thor are on the dias above him. The rest of the court behind him. Loki himself in chains.
Odin has described the charges against Loki, and has asked, each time, if Loki had anything to say.
Each time, Loki has remained silent.
He has nothing to say for himself. He's not sorry for trying to conquer Earth. Thanos is coming for them all, and they don't deserve a warning.
In the jumble of grief over losing the approval of the man he once called his father (if he ever had it in the first place), his madness inducing fall through multidimensional space, capture and manipulation by Thanos, and use of an infinity stone, his "crimes" are small potatoes to him. He can't muster the energy to care.
Finally, Odin asks if there is anyone willing to speak in Loki's defense, or on his behalf in regards to his character or extenuating circumstances.
Thor, grief stricken and angry, looks away.
But from the crowd, someone does volunteer: Baldur. Not the wet blanket of the comics, but the closest thing Asgard has to a real lawyer, and someone who grew up with Loki. They have similar fighting styles, and spent a lot of time together as kids.
We get an inside look at Loki's head and discover that this (for reasons that will be revealed later) is, in Loki's opinion, the WORST turn of events. Loki despises Baldur. Baldur obviously does not share Loki's antipathy, and Loki hates him even more because he should.
Despite Loki being uncooperative, Baldur and Frigga argue for leniency.
The closest Loki comes to breaking his silence is when Frigga kneels before Odin to beg for her son's life.
It's granted. Loki is free within the realm of Asgard, but his magic is dampened by what's basically a magic handcuff.
And, because he refused to speak at his trial, he is forbidden by magic to speak within the realm of Asgard.
After this opening, we get into Loki's new life. He's shiftless, depressed, and doesn't want to be here.
He stays in his rooms for the most part. Frigga visits. Thor does not.
Eventually Loki's habits of wanting to get into everything slowly resurface. He's persona non grata in the court. People don't trust him, and mostly ignore him. The exception is Hodur, Baldur's brother, who really does hate Loki, and makes Loki's life miserable whenever possible.
It's not like Loki can say anything.
There is some recovery as Loki goes back to something he used to do as a boy --helping in the stables.
It's hard work that he's no longer used to. And the enchantments binding his words and his magic are affecting his health: he gets dizzy sometimes. A tremor in his hands.
It is a reason to haul himself out of bed at the same time every day.
It is a long winter caring for the horses. One of the mares has a difficult pregnancy, but under Loki's care, Ashes and Ember are born healthy, and spring comes.
Slowly, in small ways, Loki and the Warriors Three make amends, mostly through visits to the stables.
Loki and Thor's old friend and tutor Amora the Enchantress visits. She asks some very interesting questions about Loki's magic handcuffs. Namely, WTF --they are, apparently, pretty overkill --but also, eventually, about Loki's health.
Loki hasn't put much thought into it because his mental health has improved tremendously by not being in Thanos' direct thrall + regular work + a dose of silence being good medicine, but over spring, as people who were once prince Loki's friends become familiar with Loki the very good groom, it gets confirmed: he looks like shit. Is he sick?
It's not the handcuffs --they're only designed to suppress the wearer's magic. He could probably still shape-shift, Amora explains, but that wouldn't affect the cuffs.
Loki gives her a look. He never could shape-shift anyway.
Shape-shifting requires you to pass through your true shape each time, Amora explains. Loki the Asgardian can't shape shift. He already is shapeshifted. Loki the Jotunn could.
Loki's not too keen on this, to put it mildly. His head may be clearer but he still harbors a deep self hatred for being Jotunn. He was raised Asgardian, and the Aesir consider the Jotunn lesser at best, savage monsters at worst. Every day Loki lives he lives a lie, and it's not one of his choosing.
The symptoms Loki displays look more like...well they look like a blood curse of some kind, but that can't be right because if it's a blood curse it's older than Loki is and...blocked somehow, as if someone else is suffering part of it, or part of it has already been fulfilled.
Meanwhile, Thor is sick with guilt over having turned away from Loki --symbolically giving up on him during the trial. Especially now that he sees, from a distance, Loki's progress.
It drives home once again how thoughtless and self centered Thor has been over the ages, that it was Thor himself who was, directly and indirectly, telling Loki that his only value came from being prince and heir, that Loki the person wasn’t worth anything. So that when Loki realized he would inherit nothing and that he wasn't a prince of Asgard he lost his sense of self, and started scrabbling for things to make him worthy...much like Thor himself had
Sometime in this time, Thor finally puts together something that he noticed but didn't comprehend during Loki's trial: Baldur carries Mistilteinn.
When Mjolnir was made, a companion weapon was made for Loki: Mistilteinn, a dagger as well suited for Loki as Mjolnir was for Thor. Only Thor received a ceremony, but he'd never really noticed that Loki didn't carry the princely weapon he deserved. How did Baldur have it?
When Thor goes to find out, he catches Hodur harassing Loki. It's escalated, and Thor intervenes, bodily dragging Loki to the healers afterwards.
Why didn't he say anything? Thor wants to know.
Loki only gives him an ironic look. It's not like Loki could have. It's not like Thor would have cared.
Thor does. At one time it was Loki who rejected Thor. But what recent evidence does Loki have that Thor wouldn't reject him?
This is also where Thor realizes that Loki was acting under threat of torture just as much as willingly conquering Earth. Those burn marks weren't there before.
The story of Mistilteinn is this: the drinking at the ceremony celebrating Thor as crown prince got a little out of hand. Loki, pleased for Thor but still struggling with resentment and the blow at being...pretty much ignored even though part of the royal family, had reacted badly when his childhood companion Baldur had thought to console him.
Baldur asked for Mistilteinn, the weapon that had almost killed him, instead of publicly humiliating his friend, and never revealed what happened except to Odin and to his brother, who found him injured, alone, with Loki nowhere to be found. Loki took this as in deference to Thor's special day, and deeply resented it. Hodur held a grudge for Loki almost killing his brother.
Loki has a vision and comes to realize that Thanos can and probably will track him down for his failures, realizes that he does in fact care if Asgard gets flattened, shapeshifts into his Jotunn form and leaves Asgard for Jotunheim.
Loki reveals that the spell keeping him silent has worn off by whispering a goodbye before he slips through a gate in the world-tree's branches
Baldur reveals that he enchanted Mistilteinn in much the same way Mjolnir was: if Loki should voluntary bear the consequences of harm that he caused another and make amends, the dagger will return to it's rightful owner.

(Marvel-Based Crossover Fan-Universe) Marvel: Earth-SUTOHGFFIM
Including Franchises/Theme
Marvel Cinematic Universe (w/some comic & other movies add-on)
MCU (Infinity Saga only)
Homeworld VS Asgardians(?)
Agamotto’s Exodus of Witches to the Demon World
Stark’s doubt on Crystal  Gems (Sort of BvS)
Northwest’s main sponsor to Oscorp
Gravity Falls’ Height-altering crystals is actually Pym Particles’ ‘natural’ origin.
Hank Pym knows the two Stans Pines?
Spider-Verse (Mile Molares, Spider-Ham, Spider Noir etc.)
Oscorp/Sinister Six
X-Men/Deadpool (Mutants & Weapon-X)
Trask’s Sentinels
Apocalypse & Horsemen of Apocalypse
Deadpool mentions other works of CN(Especially Rebecca Sugar’s), Disney Channel, and maybe others of common creators.(Like, Inside Job, of Alex Hirsch)
Punisher/Daredevil/Luke Cage (?)
Wanda & Pedro Maximoff lore combined of Magneto’s children & MCU’s
“No more Mutants (or something else)”
Hulk is still “Angry Hulk”
World War Hulk?
Steven Universe
Homeworld is one of the galaxy’s political threats, but Odin kept them at bay somehow.  As well as founding of the Nova Corp.
Not only death of Rose Quartz/PD, but also to wait for both Odin & Thanos to fell(which Odin’s falls causes Thanos to move his pawns)
Steven’s Power is around young Thor’s, but in combat, Young Thor wins. However, Steven has more off-combat skills & power flexibility.
Adult Steven could be part of ‘Future Avengers’.
The Owl House
Demon World is actually a planet that is connected to Earth by Agamotto’s magic, and witches are children of human mutants with magical powers.
“Titan” is actually the deviated Celestial who quitted from his kin, before being killed by the collector.
The Collector of both MCU & ToH are the same entity. The ‘Old man’ is his disguise to play trading games. (However, that’s his only avatar that is not sealed, and allow him to interact with something in material planes a bit)
Gravity Falls
Bill Cipher is Dormammu’s ‘frenemy’
Gravity Falls was actually the battlefield between Agamotto & Bill, which the mystery is caused by their remaining magical power from the fight.
Pacifica Northwest later disowns her family & becomes ‘Paz Universe’ instead (Adopted by Greg, being Steven’s little sister).
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
No MLP: EG, or EG’s Canterlot is a ‘mysterious’ city in Canada. Like Gravity Falls, Karma Taj, or Gravesfield of Connecticut.
Equestria is another galaxy that is small & close to the milky way, so some interaction could be easy.
Nightmare Moon/Princess Luna was almost chosen by Necrosword, but Luna believed she didn't need the sword.
Changelings’ DNA is one of the sources of ‘modified’ DNAs of Skrulls.
Crystal Empire was part of failed Gems’ colonies of Equus.
King Sombra was corrupted by Necrosword, and later, will be “Mount of Gorr”
Discord is also Sorcerer Supreme’s “Duties” (until he redeems)

From the trailer, it looks like a comedy series with a light-hearted plot, so probably no real threat present.
It will likely be soft-canon: the series will take place in the main MCU timeline but none of the events will matter/be adressed in the future
What if...?
What if season 2 has been confirmed as part of phase 5
It will be streaming early 2023
Some of the scenarios have been announced: a story centered around Hela, Odin vs The Mandarin, Captain Carter meeting the winter soldier (most likely the Hydrastomper seen in s1 will contain a winter soldier version of Steve), tony on Saakar with Hulk and Valkyrie (scrapped episode from s1)
We dont know it the multversal teamup at the end of season 1 will be adressed, nor if the Watcher will return (although the latter seems likely)
A third season has already been confirmed
Spiderman Freshman Year
Previously confirmed by Marvel as a prequel to homecoming, however that seemed to change given that Strange and Dock Ock will appear, while peter never saw them before the Spidey/Avengers movies
It might span across the multiverse and give us a look at different spidermans, with only a few episodes centered around Tom Holland's Spidey (this could explain how so many characters will appear while still being a prequel to Homecoming)
Many spider suits will appear, including a homemade one
Doctor strange will appear
Daredevil will appear in his black suit (Voiced by Charlie Cox!!!!)
Harry Osborn (possible Hobgoblin) and Amadeus Cho ( possible Hulk variant) will appear as Peter's friends
Nico Minoru should appear (in the comic, she is a magic wielding Runaway)
Many iconic Spider-Man villains will appear: Doc Ock, Rhino, Speed Demon, Tarantula and Scoprion (we might find out why scorpion was in jail in the Homecoming post credit scene)
Norman Osborn will appear with his iconic waves, it is unclear wether he will become Green Goblin. It is rumored that he will be Peter's mentor (in a Tony Stark-esque way as a shot of him and Aunt May mirrors the first time Peter met Tony in the Mcu)
The characters and drawing style are comic accurate (including Norman Osborn's waves!!!)
A second season called Spider-Man: Sophomore Year is already confirmed
Marvel Zombies
Inspired why the zombie episode in What if season one, it will follow a group of survivors fighting through a zombie apocalypse (duh)
The series will be TV-MA (!!!!!!!)
Among the survivors we can find: Yelena Belova, Kate Bishop, Jimmy Woo, Shang-Chi, Kamala Khan, Death dealer (the masked guy from Shang-Chi), Red Guardian and Katy Chen ( also from Shang-Chi)
Other groups of survivors include an all-female group of SHIELD agents and black widows, as well as a group of skrulls
Amongst the zombies we can find: Ikaris (although it is uncleat how an eternal that is not organic can become a zombie), Abomination, A severed captain America, Okoye, Ghost, hawkeye with many arrows shot trough him, Captain Carter and the Scarlet Witch (Lmfao they are fucked going up agains these zombies)
It is unclear wether the events of what if take place in the same universe, although captain America does appear cut in half, so we dont know if well see the group of survivors from what if (Tchalla, Scott Lang's head and Peter Parker with the cloak of levitation) as well as Zombie Thanos with the infinty stones
Expect horror moments especially with ghost's ability to go through walls, as well as splatter moments
Oh and also hearbreaking moments between Kate and Yelena, and Shang-Chi and Katy when one of them gets zombified (Marvel you will pay for my therapy sessions)
Also moments between Kate and Kamala and Zombie Carol and Clint

I don't know where the idea came from exactly. But I have a headcanon that Thor struggles a lot with his identity as a destructive god who grew up in a war-based society.
Bucky has a particular arc in the MCU. Bucky, after being forced/tortured to be a brutal weapon with not even a real name, finally starts remembering his life, remembers and falls in love with Steve, heals from his hypnosis and mind control, and seems to find safety in being gentle, being presented and treated more delicate and peaceful. I particularly love gay-jewish-bucky's posts about soft Bucky (not @ them as this post has little to none to do with Bucky or them). Bucky doesn't want to be dangerous, he often covers or takes off his prosthetic as he still needs room to learn how to trust himself, he doesn't want to fight. He's done and tired and would rather sit at home under a fluffy blanket, in some cozy, loose pjs, and cuddled next to Steve. (I reject most of Endg*me and onward)
I like to also apply this sort of arc to Thor. He's very much a kindhearted, loud, caring person who does mature and takes the time to learn and listen. A lot of development and maturing happens in Thor 1 when he goes from battle-driven and practically blood-thirsty to understanding life of beings and that killing an entire race for the acts of the few or the acts of the past is unjustifiable. Problem is, he started off as a self-absorbed killer primarily due to Odin and the glorifying of conquering in Asgardian society, the fact that Odin is known for his acts of violence and control over separate colonies, that brute warriors are prioritized over the more physically weak like Loki, ect. While Odin showed fury over Thor's brash actions and harshly punished him, it has been shown that Odin never really took any steps to teach Thor true peace, especially with things like the control over colonies which was addressed in Ragnarok to have been happening in the background, Odin's talk to Thor in The Dark World where Odin says that mortals' lives are fleeting and therefore should mean nothing to gods which, most likely, that sort of talk about other races has been a part of the boys' upbringing, and Odin telling his stories of victory since the boys were young and fueling them on seeking glory. The true extent of the bloody history of Asgard is touched upon more in Ragnarok with Hela's upbringing and in the comics (I own the Thor vs Gorr series and there's a part where Thor goes to a Nexus for research and the librarian is very hostile and mentions how an entire library section about murders and bloodshed is mostly full of Odin's/Asgard's "adventures"). All-in-all, very war-driven society that Thor grew up in, so of course he knows destruction better than anything.
Later he gets to uncover lies, he loses everything, and shows a distancing and tiredness when it comes to fighting. One of the few things I agree with in Endg*me is how all of the remaining Avengers show a distancing to fighting, so much to the point they distanced from each other. Thor was genuinely depressed and consciously attempted to repress or ignore everything previous, and tried to build some semblance of peace out of what little he had. He has seen what true war is. What he grew up with, that glory, was Odin having perfect control and power over his enemies and beating them to submission. Fighting Hela and losing your home and people in the process, fighting Thanos and losing people that you love, feeling guilt over not being good enough when you fail, he now knows what TRUE war is like. And it broke him. So much so, he doesn't jump at the opportunity to fix everything and he worries over failing again.
I feel Thor's feelings about battle and his change could've been addressed better in anything released after Infinity War, falling into a similar arc as Bucky's: being a weapon (though for the 2 characters, it was much different situations with different levels of willingness- in Bucky's case none at all) but ending up in a situation that makes them crave being softer and non-threatening.
I also think a good, secondary tie-in for this sort of development for Thor is the fact that he is a god of nature. He is the God of Thunder with an ability to also create/control storm events like lightning, a tornado as seen in Thor 1 which could prolly be extended to controlling wind, and many people headcanon that he could control rainstorms due to the associated lightning + thunder abilities. Thor is not a God of War or Destruction or Battle. His powers lie within nature, nature events that can be destructive but can also be peaceful and kind; the rain that waters the plants, the soft thunder that people often love and even listen to ambience of to go to sleep at night, the beautiful strikes of lightning that many are obsessed with, the breeze to cool a hot day. I feel many gods of nature are treated much more gentle, and this could be a really good note towards Thor's character: a god of nature that grows up learning nothing but war, coming to a point where he wants to have the opportunity that other nature gods have that he never got. He's known for being good with animals in the comics so maybe he starts a routine to feed the animals in his area, he learns to control his powers and can bring a gentle rain to water the nearby plants and even aid his own garden, his powers give him an exceptional green-thumb, he plays with the village kids by letting them ride the wind- literally, entertaining people with tricks with his lightning similarly to how Loki shows off the fireworks his mom taught him in the Loki series. Even his amazing strength he uses for helping to build the houses of New Asgard, or lifting up a horse to help carry it back to the stable.
I just really like the idea of Thor becoming softer and maturing past the oppressive destruction of the Old Asgard, paving his own way and bringing a new hope and light to a new, peaceful, Asgard

Idk if anyone said this already but I was rewatching the scene in Thor 1 about Loki’s true parentage and I realized it’s almost like a parallel to Thanos & Gamora. Odin/Thanos find an innocent kid and feel bad, so they decide to adopt the kid, while literally killing their people. Loki obviously wasn’t old enough to witness and remember it, but it shows how Odin/Thanos both think they’re doing a “good thing” but are still terrible parents, and Odin really isn’t any better than Thanos *mic drop*
This is a very interesting analogy and I thought about it a lot. I’ve never made the connection before until you mentioned it. There are certainly parallels. But there are differences that I believe make Thanos worse than Odin. Asgard and Jotunheim were at war. A war for power in the nine realms. People who died were probably warriors. Thanos on the other hand attacked Gamora’s planet and mass slaughtered civilians, non military people which included children too. Odin took Loki because he claimed he was left to die by his people so he saved him. Thanos saved Gamora because he saw her fierceness and bravery even as a child and her potential to be great warrior. A weapon to add to his collection. Odin planned to use Loki as a political pawn too. But what Odin saved Loki from, he believed was a death sentence by Loki’s people and what Thanos saved Gamora from was death by his own forces, sth that wouldn’t happen if he didn’t attacked them in the first place. Thanos separated Gamora from her family while Odin believed Loki’s family left him to die.
Odin was a terrible parent, a narcissistic parent which resulted in the abuse of both Thor and Loki. But he was ultimately a parent. Thanos wasn’t a parent. He didn’t see or care about the Black Order as his children. He saw and treated them as his belongings, his weapons. He literally tortured Gamora and Nebula since they were children. He’s like the terrorists who steal children from their home and family and brainwash them to follow their cause. Thanos doesn’t love or care about any of his children, even Gamora. His reaction when he finds out he has to kill her to gain the soul stone is like he is about to lose his favorite toy/weapon. He doesn’t understand love. Odin on the other hand, despite his shortcomings, is more humane. If we want to make a better comparison of how they treated their children, we should compare their treatments of their favorite and unfavored children. Thanos literally doesn’t care about Nebula. Odin does see Loki as his son and care about him as much as a narcissistic parent is able to care about their scapegoat child(which is not much but still).Thanos claims he loves Gamora, but he doesn’t hesitate to drag her to the cliff and throw her off it to her death. I don’t think Odin would be able to do that to Thor. He wouldn’t do that to Thor. Odin does have a understanding of love as much as he is capable of. I think in case of terrible parenting, Thanos and Ego are in the the club of not-parents-at-all and definitely worse than Odin and Howard who are in the club of abusive parents.

loki getting pissed at the time keepers bc he doesn’t like the idea that normal beings and weird lizards decide innocent people’s fates is proof loki really doesn’t like the idea of others being subservient to some sort of power to the point where their fates are out of their hands which also can be used as a fact to slap in the face of ppl who don’t think loki was mind controlled in conquering earth we love to see it
Loki’s literally worked against every authoritative figure he’s come across on-screen, we love to see it
