Happy new year,
The clock has past midnight yet it all felt like it was before.
People still talk with no empathy. Not even attempting to conceal hateful thoughts with lies.
‘Happy new year’. Being screamed all around but the remarks made only moments before still linger around. ‘That artist shouldn’t be wearing that!’ Stings as your moment of confidence is turn down.
‘Happy New Year’ says everyone you meet but those who want to cover their truth ask in almost a genuine manner go further.
‘What are your new year resolutions?’ They ask as if eager to find out how many of their presumed flaws you will try and fix not so much as for you but for society and them.
So no it won’t be a happy new year. The world has had no change. The message did not change the truth about the situation.
The sounding of the clock, the fireworks, or the cheers.
The world has not changed at all for the new year.
The new year is nothing but yet another false promise. Why better myself when it is ignored. Society, history, politics are all going to ignore.
The year has change yet everything will remain the same. So it is just a ‘new year’. For all who remained.

Ode to 2023
New Year, new year
Come quick, come here
Listen closely, be clear!
Be kind and be well
With love to feel and
stories to tell
Be gentle and be nice
Maybe let good things
happen twice?
Show care to those around
And think of those inside the ground.
Use your brain and feel your heart
Sing a song and make some art.
Make this year the best it can be
Or I'll use this crowbar on your knee.
Now 2022, get the fuck out;
2023, show us what you're all about.

Wedding
I woke on New Year's morning
to greet the Earth and found
that she had dressed for the occasion
in a thick white veil. She drowned
the dips and rises of herself,
the craggy rocks, the groves
in shining cliffs of tulle and lace
of spider-silk and milk she wove.
'Till all that I could see of her
were her wide hips of stone
and the necklace that I made for her
of brittle clay, and bone.

new
and as the new year begins
i find myself mourning
who i was
while also rejoicing
at the thought
of loving who i will become
what an interesting dichotomy
of me

As we enter a new year, it’s worth remembering the many reasons why this is a special place to be alive.
Bats can hear shapes.
Plants can eat light.
Bees can dance maps.
We can hold all these ideas at once and feel both heavy and weightless with the absurd beauty of it all.

- AUTUMN WILL LOOK LIKE SINGING NORAH JONES WITH THE WINDOWS ROLLED DOWN.
- REINTRODUCE YOURSELF TO A FAVORITE FOREST. BRING A HOUSEWARMING GIFT.
- IF APPLICABLE, IF POSSIBLE, HOLD GRIEF WITH AN EQUAL GRATITUDE FOR HAVING HAD THE CHANCE TO LOVE WHAT’S GONE.

2024 will be a year of wellness. I'm calling it.
I don't need a miracle or vast amounts of luck, just a simple happy year.
2024 will be a time to cleanse all of the muck, the crap that's dragged everyone down will be lifted, this new year spirits will be shifted.
