Dirty Thoughts
Tumblr media
Summary: It was so wrong to have these thoughts. She was engaged to your boss, your best friend but it was impossible to not fall in love with her.
Relationships: Natasha x Maria, Maria x reader
Warnings: non Avenger AU, Gang AU, cheating, lots of cheating, mention of violence, implied torture, implied sexual content, gun shot wound, blood, angst
Word Count: 3.3k
Note: I do not want to talk about how this one shot made me spiral into possibility writing a multiple part story. If you are interested let me know lol. Also, thank you to @sycamorelibrary754 for helping me with the engagement ring
God, you were so fucked. Absolutely 100% fucked. You stood at the party, hand wrapped around the beer you were drinking. At a party, your job was to be alert and look for possible threats. Tonight was different. Tonight was a party for celebration as the head of the Black Widow gang was engaged to her long-time girlfriend, Maria Hill. You were in charge of Natasha's security, so the redhead placed you in charge of Maria's protection. You grew close to her, learning her every secret, dislike, and like. You knew her coffee order, what ice cream to get when she was on her period, and her favorite movie to put on to make her smile. You loved your job. Natasha took a chance on you and saved your life, which makes your current predicament so much worse.
No one knew you were head over heels in love with Maria Hill. No one could ever know. "I'm pretty sure Nat gave everyone the night off." You were so lost in your thoughts that you were surprised by Maria standing before you. "I think I saw Pietro doing a keg stand." You chuckled and sipped your beer.
"I'm always on the clock, sweetheart. Got to keep the crown jewel of the Black Widows safe." Maria rolled her eyes, but you didn't miss the slight blush on her cheeks. "Congratulations, by the way. That's an impressive rock." The ring was gold with a square-cut diamond. Along the band and the main diamond were smaller jewels. It looked expensive, but that was Natasha. She liked expensive things, from clothes to cars to liquor. Before Maria, the redhead was always at the clubs throwing money at women left and right. She looked at her hand.
"A little too flashy for my taste," you knew that too. She wanted something modest. "But Nat likes to claim what's hers." You hated how your stomach burned with jealousy.
"Oh, I know that. Besides, Romanoff has enough money lying around. She should spend it on something," you smiled. "Hey, maybe you can convince her to take us on vacation. I heard the Maldives are beautiful this time of year." A quick smack to the back of your head caused you to jump. Maria laughed as Natasha rounded from behind and wrapped her arms around Maria's waist.
"Are you saying I don't treat you well?" She smirked.
"You treat us like shit, boss," you deadpanned. "I hate it here." You winked at Maria. Her smile caused your heart to skip a beat. Natasha scuffed, placing her chin on Maria's shoulder.
"You know I saved your life. I could have left you on the streets of New York, but out of the kindness of my heart, I gave you a job." You rolled your eyes.
"And here I thought you liked me for my charming personality and good looks," you smirked. She narrowed her eyes at you, pointing at you over Maria.
"I'm going to kick your ass, Sentinel,"
"Darling," Maria placed her on Natasha's chest. "You know she could kick your ass." You had to hide your smirk behind your drink.
"Unbelievable," Natasha mumbled.
"Go go have a good night, you lovebirds," you said. "You know where to find me if you need me." You held out your hand for Natasha. "Congratulations. I'm happy for you." And you were. No matter how much it hurt for Natasha to be marrying Maria, you would always be happy for her. At least Maria would still be in your life. Instead of shaking your hand, your boss pulled you into a hug.
"Enjoy yourself tonight. I heard a certain captain wanted your attention," you chuckled, but you looked at Maria, who was frowning. Thinking she was angry at you for hugging Natasha, you patted her back and ended the hug.
"Use protection," you told them as Natasha grabbed Maria's hand and returned to the party. Natasha still managed to flip you off. All members of the Black Widow crew were given code names. Carol was Captain Marvel. Peggy was Agent 13. Monica was Photon. You were Sentinel, the vigilant guardian who watched over the gang's safety. It was Maria who gave it to you.
It was late one night, and you were new to protecting Maria. Before she started Natasha, Maria was studying to get into the academy. She spent a lot of her time at the library, so in turn, you spent a lot of time there as well. When you were walking back to the car, two street thugs tried and failed to jump her. You were quick to take them down before they could even touch her. Sentinel was a name everyone called you, and it became a name that was feared on the streets.
The same night you saved her, you realized that your thoughts and feelings towards Maria were not platonic. Everything Maria and Natasha had you wanted. Now the ring on her finger solidified she could never be yours.
*
"Can you pick Maria up from her father's?" Natasha asked you. "I have a meeting with the Maximoff Twins, and I can't get out of it." You frowned. A part of your job was to know the schedules of Natasha and Maria. There was no meeting with the Maximoffs today; you knew that. Instead, Natasha and Maria had a date planned. Nothing was set in stone in this business. The redhead rolled her sleeves and picked up a knife from the table.
"Yeah, I can do that," you put on a pair of latex gloves. "Do you want me to take her back to the house?" She handed you a knife.
"It's up to her. Take the card and get whatever she wants." She rolled her shoulders and faced the man tied to the chair in the center of the room. "Ready, Sentinel?"
"Always boss."
*
Once you were changed and out of the blood-stained shirt, you made your way to Maria. You relieved the lower-level member and walked up the house's front steps. Before you knocked, the door swung open. "Fury," you smiled at the man. "How's my favorite beat cop?" He frowned.
"You smell of bleach." He deadpanned.
"Just a new perfume I'm trying out," you squeezed past him, and you heard the door close. Nick Fury, the commissioner of the NYPD, was surprised when Natasha started dating his daughter, but she did everything for a reason. At first, it was a tactical relationship, a way to bend the relationship between the NYPD and the Black Widows. Over time, Natasha fell in love with Maria.
You found Maria in the kitchen, her back to you as she washed the dishes. "Who would have thought an engagement would turn you into a housewife?" She jumped and dropped the plate into the water. A frown was on her face when she turned around to face you. "Awe, are you not excited to see your favorite bodyguard?"
"No, I am," she sighed and focused on her task.
"I know," Natasha was canceling more and more dates and getting stuck at the office. It was the summer, so there were more things to do. The days were longer, and arrival gangs were out to steal the Black Widow's turf. "But," you leaned against the counter with Natasha's credit card between your fingers. "The boss gave me her card. We could do anything on her dime." Maria stayed quiet. "Or we can return to the house, order takeout, and watch the Breakfast Club." A smile tugged at the corner of her lips. "Come on, Ria," you whined. "You know I hate seeing you sad." It was true. It tugged at your heartstrings, and you would do anything to make her smile.
"Help me with the dishes, and then we'll go to the bookstore and get Tai food." You smiled.
"Aye, aye, captain," you gave her a salute, and her laughter danced off the kitchen's walls. Her laughter was music to your ears. It was beautiful, so full of light. You would do anything to hear it again and again.
*
In hindsight, you should have knocked, but you were so focused on the phone call that you walked into Natasha's office. It was late, and Monica's frantic phone call woke you up, and you raced to see Natasha. Red room guys were seen gathering weapons at the dock. They were planning an attack. "I just got here," you told Monica. "Don't engage without us," you opened the office door. "I- Jesus Christ," if it weren't for the phone call, you would have said a lot more. "Nothing, I'll call you back." You hung up.
Maybe you should have knocked. Perhaps you would have heard the moans behind the closed door if you weren't on the phone. The moans were not coming from Maria but from Wanda Maximoff. She was topless, lying on top of Natasha's desk with the redhead between her legs. Your jaw clenched as Natasha rushed to pull away from her and throw her a sweatshirt.
"It's not-"
"Save it," you snapped. Oh, you were seething. All you saw was red. She was engaged. Maria was planning a wedding. You wanted to push her up against the wall and tell her off. "We have an actual problem, but please, if you think this little affair is more important, please continue." Natasha ran her fingers through her hair. You ignored Wanda as she stood up from the desk.
"What is it? Is it Maria?" She had to be fucking with you. Even across the room, you could see the hickys covering Natasha's neck. You laughed. You were so close to snapping.
"Oh, so you remember her name? Your fiance," you shook your head. No, she's safe. The Red Room was spotted on the docks gathering weapons. Monica said she tried to call you but couldn't reach you." Now you looked at Wanda. "I guess you had your hands full." You were furious not only with your friend but also with yourself. How did you not notice this? All of the signs were there. Are you coming or not?"
"Sentinel-"
"I don't want to hear it, Romanoff. People's lives are at stake. People you promised to protect. Are you coming?" Natasha nodded, but you refused to look away. She kissed Wanda goodbye and told her that she would call her later. Unbelievable, you thought. Oh, you were going to kill your best friend.
*
The rest of the crew knew there was a problem between you and Natasha. You were still a professional and did your job, but that was it. Gone was the friendly banter, the inside jokes. All of it changed overnight.
Loyalty was important to you. It was important for the crew to maintain respect, but Natasha broke that with you. Before joining the Black Widows, you were fucked over by the last crew you worked with. They ignored your warnings about an upcoming job. They promised that whatever would happen, they would have your back. But the job fell through, and they left you. Natasha found you before the cops showed up. You were forever grateful for the redhead and knew you would stay loyal to her because of what she did for you.
Now she was using that loyalty over your head to keep her secret, to help cover for her. She kept saying that you were loyal to her, not Maria. She saved your life, not Maria. She was your boss, not Maria. It was killing you.
Every date Natasha missed. Every time she stayed late at the office, you saw Maria lose herself more each time. Adding to the pressure of the Red Room, you were at your wits end. So you quit. You told Natasha you were done.
You were in your room packing up your stuff while nursing a gunshot wound to your stomach. A simple meeting turned into a shoot-out as Red Room goons surprised you. Lately, it seemed Natasha kept making bad calls after bad calls. Last week, Carol got hurt. Two days ago, Peggy got jumped. Now, you were on the receiving end of it. These girls were your family, but you weren't sure what to do. The Red Room was gaining momentum. You heard whispers of HYDRA gaining territory. An all-out war was growing.
"I can't believe you are leaving," Maria's voice followed the sound of your front door slamming shut. "And I had to find out through Natasha." She was here quicker than you thought. You wanted to be done packing, but the wound slowed you down.
"Carol will do just fine," you refused to look at her. "She knows all your likes, dislikes, and what you are allergic to.
"I don't want Carol. I want you," you closed your eyes. You knew it was as a bodyguard and nothing more, but a part of you wished it was more. "Why are you leaving me?"
"I'm not leaving you. I-" Would you say to her? That her fiance was cheating on her with someone Maria considered a friend. That a gang war was coming and so many people were going to die in the crossfire.
"I know about Natasha and Wanda," you spun around to face her finally. She was wearing your sweatshirt that you thought you had lost and a pair of jeans. Her hair was damp. She must have rushed over here as soon as her shower was over, but you thought she never looked more beautiful. "You've been shot," she said.
"You knew?" You questioned.
"Don't change the subject," you rolled your eyes because she changed the conversation. She grabbed the first aid kit you had left out and forced you to sit in your recliner. "Of course, I know. I'm not an idiot." You hissed as she pulled the gauze off. "I think it hurts more that you knew and didn't tell me. I thought we were close." She cleaned around the wound. "No exit wound. I have to get the bullet out." You nodded.
"If you knew," you squeezed the chair's armrests as she dug for the bullet. She cooed softly.
"I know, baby," she whispered. "This is the worst part." It had to be the pain. Maybe you were delirious, but you swear you heard her call you baby. You called her pet names because you liked to see her blush.
"If you knew," you continued. She placed the bullet on the side table. "Why stay? Why not call off the engagement?"
"Because I wanted to stay close to the gang," she threaded the suture through the needle. "I wanted to stay close to you." You let her confession rest in the silence as she focused on stitching the gunshot. You felt no pain when the needle pierced your skin. When she was done, she placed a new bandage on it. You grabbed her chin and forced her to look up at you.
"Tell me what you meant by that."
"Nothing," she said. Don't worry about it." Maria tried to pull away from you, but you held her in place—not enough to hurt her, but enough to keep her from running away.
"Tell me, please." You moved your hand to hers and pulled her to her feet. She protested when you told her to sit on your lap, but you held her in place. "Tell me you have the same thoughts I do," you ran your hands up and down her sides and enjoyed the shiver that you felt. "Because I get dirty thoughts about you. They get worse when I'm without you. Are you thinking of them as well?" Instead of answering, she trailed her finger over your lips and down your chest. You weren't sure where this newfound confidence came from. You were leaving, and she was Natasha's; the ring on her finger still confirmed that. "I shouldn't think the things I'm thinking," you admitted. Finally, she locked eyes with yours.
"How long?" She asked. It was a simple question, but still, you hesitated.
"Far too long," she chuckled, shaking her head.
"The more that I push them away. The more that you're stuck in my brain." It was all you needed to hear. You twisted your hand in her brunette hair and kissed her. The kiss was messy and frantic, and Maria's soft sigh only spurred you on more. She matched the intensity of the kiss, but the quiet voice in the back of your head told you this was wrong. She was engaged. Even though her fiance was cheating, her loyalty was to her. You ended the kiss. "Why did you stop?" Maria asked. Her chest was heaving, and a slight blush dusted across her cheeks.
"I don't want to stop," you whispered. Your eyes flickered to the ring on her finger. "You aren't mine." She looked at her ring. Immediately, she took it off and placed it on the table next to the bullet.
"I'm not hers," she said. "Our relationship was always to forge a better relationship between the NYPD and the Black Widows. I've known that from the beginning. If Natasha wants Wanda, then I want you. I always have." There were 101 questions that danced around in your head but died on your tongue due to how she looked at you. Her pupils were blown out, and the color of her eyes was gone. She wanted you. All of your hesitations vanished.
Ignoring the pain from your injury, you picked her up and carried her to your bed. You gently placed her down and quickly covered her body with yours. "Tell me," you whispered, kissing her neck. Her hands grabbed onto your shoulders. "Tell me your mine." You bite down and soothe the spot with your tongue.
"I'm yours," she moaned. Her hand went to the back of your head and forced your lips together. "Tell me your mine."
"I'm yours," you said. "Always have been and always will be."
*
"Take me with you," she lay in your bed, wrapped in your blankets as you were in the bathroom. You wondered when this conversation was going to happen. With a sigh, you joined her back in bed and dragged the sheet over you. You laid on your side to face her.
"I don't even know where I'm going."
"I don't care," she said, taking your hand. "I'm safer with you than with anyone else."
"What about Fury?" You questioned. "You wouldn't leave him, and I wouldn't let you." Her silence was enough of an answer for you. You kissed her hand.
"You are going to leave before an all-out turf war breaks out." God, she was more perceptive than you gave her credit for.
"I can't stop it from happening."
"No, you can't," she smiled. "But you can end it quicker and save lives. People listen to you," you played with her now bare ring finger. You dreamed of putting a ring on it one day. "I always believed Natasha wasted your potential. You are a leader, not a guard dog." All of your life, you've been a follower. You followed your father when he left your mom. You followed your old crew into a death trap. You blindly followed every order Natasha gave you.
"Help me then," you told her. She seemed surprised by your request. "You are more than a pretty little to hold on my arm." Maria was barely allowed in meetings when she was; she was ordered to stay quiet and sit by Natasha's side.
"Do you not think I'm pretty?" She teased. Your eyes widened. Laughing, Maria pushed you onto your back and rested her chin on your chest. "I'm teasing. Of course, I'll help. I think we make a good team." If she believed in you, then that's all you needed.
"Let's plan to save the city tomorrow," you rubbed your eyes with the back of your hand. "I'm tired." She smiled and kissed your lips softly. "Are you staying?"
"I am," she got comfortable with your arms around her. "Sleep, baby. The city can wait one more day."

about: dinner where our two lovely boss ladies cannot take their hands off you. you're all dressed up and so perfect for them.
warnings: smut, exhibitionism, public sex, very brief reference to politics, pet names, praise, degradation, fingering (r receiving, nat giving), dom blackhill, sub r, r has a uterus, r is referred to as she.
"A-and did you see his reaction!" Bucky exclaimed, taking a sip of his drink. "I KNOW!! It was so funny!" Tony chuckled. Their voices drowned out, as you suddenly became aware of Maria's hand sitting on your thigh. It was firm. Your eyes met her hungry gaze. Nat was also eyeing you, you found her staring at your chest.
The team went out to dinner at an expensive restaurant so you had to dress up. You decided to wear a dress that was very revealing, obviously your girlfriends could not take their eyes off of you when you were getting ready.
⋅˚₊‧ ୨୧ ‧₊˚ ⋅
They tried to touch you, but you swatted their hands away because you were trying to do your makeup. Also you guys literally had no time to mess around because the reservation was for 8pm and you had to leave in 10 minutes.
Natasha groaned when she realized you were serious. "Please detka, a quickie? I can make it fast." Nat pleated. You shook your head no. As appealing as that sounded, you needed to finish your eyeshadow.
Maria smirked when when entered the room, overhearing Nat's pleads to touch you. "Don't be so desperate dear. Our little slut will practically be begging us to fuck her by the end of the night" Maria spoke calmly.
⋅˚₊‧ ୨୧ ‧₊˚ ⋅
And that brought you to this exact moment, you were starting to think that you should've taken Nat up on her offer. You were sandwiched between the two. Nat's fingers started to make it's way onto your thigh as well. Her hand patted your thigh to spread.
You looked at her, turning red. "Cmon detka, no one is paying attention. They're engrossed in the drunken conversation of politics." Nat whispered closely to your ear, her breath tickled you.
You obliged and Maria raised an eyebrow at you, not seeing the actions of the spy. Natasha looked at her with a smirk. Maria rolled her eyes.
Nat' hand snaked between your thighs, trailing up until she met your underwear. Oh, you were soaked. She smirked and traced painfully slow circles over your underwear.
You huffed and looked at Nat with puppy dog eyes. "Y/N! What do you think?" Maria smirked, inviting you to join the conversation. You jumped, obviously not expecting that. Your legs tried to close but Maria held them open. God you looked so flustered.
"Y/N, you're turning red. Are you feeling well?" Carol asked, an ounce of concern sounded in her voice. Valkyrie pinched Carol lightly, she realized what was happening and Valkyrie noticed Carol turning a little pink herself.
"M' fine" you mumbled. They went back to their own conversation, not nothing that you, Natasha and Maria have been fairly quiet. Your head started to feel a little fuzzy.
⋅˚₊‧ ୨୧ ‧₊˚ ⋅
You looked at Maria and whined softly. "What is it bunny? Use your words." Maria said firmly. "Please, please, please" you mumbled into her ear. Her demeanor soften, "Please what honey? Can you tell me and daddy what you need?" Maria cooed. "Touch' please" you mumbled, hardly able to form sentences. "Good job at using your words, baby." Maria praised you. She wouldn't be too hard on you, knowing you're in a fuzzy headspace.
⋅˚₊‧ ୨୧ ‧₊˚ ⋅
Fuck you looked so perfect, your glassy eyes was her final straw. She caved in and began to fuck you harder. Her fingers curled in you, picking up speed. You had to bite your lip to hide your moans. "You close, bunny?" Natasha whispered into your ear.
You nodded desperately. "Then come for me, be a good girl for me, angel." Natahsa gave you permission. You felt your high approaching. Maria's fingers found your clit and rub fast circles around it. Fuck, this is it. Your legs began to shake as you came down from your high.
⋅˚₊‧ ୨୧ ‧₊˚ ⋅
"You okay bunny?" Maria whispered, as both their fingers left you. You whined softly, feeling empty. "Hey guys, Y/N's forehead feels hot so we're gonna go home. You guys enjoy the dinner." Natasha spoke, helping you to feet. You clung onto both of the women. They smiled softly at your clingness. "Hope you feel better y/n" a bunch of mumbles as you guys left.

 |——————————— ⴵ ———————————|
You’re not even sure how it happened. At one point, you were grabbing some books from your locker, and the next, you were sitting in the principal's office.
You were a great kid. You had amazing grades and were outstanding in all your classes. You were the kid every parent would want to have, and Maria and Natasha never hesitated to talk about your great skill and achievements.
You could see the principal looking at you with pure disappointment. “You’re not like this…” you can still hear him saying when the boy told him the story. His story.
You hadn’t said a word. You knew that whatever you said, would just make it worse. If you started talking, you’d quickly lose your temper and you would either be yelling or crying, or both. So you kept your mouth shut. You were waiting for your moms to get there. Surely they would understand and help you.
When your moms did come in, you could see the steam basically coming from Natasha’s ears. She was furious, and everyone in the room noticed it.
Maria followed her, looking way more collected than Natasha was. She was always better with handling stressful situations, especially if it was about you. Maria stood behind you, placing a hand on your shoulder while Natasha sat besides you. The parents of the boy were already there, and from the looks of it they were real entitled rich people.
The mother was crying, and the dad was almost as furious as Natasha, though you’re not sure that’s a possibility. “She hit my baby boy,” the mother cried. “She broke his nose,” she continued sniffling, and you had to stop yourself from rolling your eyes.
Natasha looked at her unimpressed, and then at you. “Is that true?” she asked, and you shook your head. “Yes it is!” the boy yelled from beside you, and you sighed.
You weren’t going to say anything. You didn’t want to give that to them.
“Well, according to the state both of the kids are in, it’s obvious who’s telling the truth. I suggest a former apology for y/n, and a three week suspension,” the principal suggested, and the mother let out a sob. "Suspension?! She should be in jail for what she did to my boy!” she yelled at the principal, and you heard Maria let out a sigh while she gently squeezed your shoulder.
“Ma’am, jail is a bit harsh for a situation like this, and with the record y/n holds, I really don’t feel a harsh punishment like that is necessary,” the principal said calmly, trying to calm the woman down.
“And you? You’re not just going to let her get away with it are you?” the woman asked your moms, looking at them with anger.
You’re moms assured you’d be punished. Your phone would get taken and you’d get some extra chores at home.
Once the woman finally settled, Natasha pulled you up from the chair and led you to the car. With the grip she had on your arm, you could feel she was still angry. She opened the door and pushed you inside, a little rougher than necessary.
You sat quietly. You didn’t want to cry in front of your moms, yet you wanted to yell at them what really happened wasn’t your fault.
Maria got in the driver's seat, and Natasha sat next to her. You felt their stares through the rearview mirror, but you didn’t dare stare back. You just looked out the window, trying to hold back your tears until you could cry them out freely in the comfort of your room.
“Do you understand what you did?!” Natasha suddenly asked you, and you could feel the anger in her tone. “This is serious! It’s not just some sneaking around or skipping class. Something like this could have serious consequences! Do you even understand that!?” she yelled, and you didn’t dare say something.
Maria sighed with disappointment, “We just want to know why,” she said, looking back at you when she stopped in front of a red light.
You shrugged, and continued looking outside.
“Just so you know, we weren’t kidding. You will have serious consequences at home,” Natasha told you, before she too, silently started out the window.
Once you got home, you quickly ran to your room. You could hear your moms yelling at you, but you didn’t care. You jumped into your bed, finally letting yourself cry. You were full on sobbing, and you could hear someone come in.
You felt the bed dip, and you felt a hand stroking your back. From how it felt you could tell it was Maria. You tried to talk, but it was hard through the crying so instead Maria pulled you in a sitting position, hugging you tightly to her chest.
“I didn’t do anything wrong,” you cried out in between your sobs, and Maria sushed you. “I’m sorry mom. I didn’t do anything I swear! He was touching me and he wouldn’t stop. I’m sorry…” you kept crying, and Maria could feel tears in her eyes. “It’s okay, everything’s okay. I’m not mad at you,” she told you, rubbing her hand up and down her back.
You heard Natasha come in, and you felt the bed dip on the other side of you. “I’m sorry for yelling,” she told you, wiping the hair from your face.
“I was unfair, and we should’ve listened to you before we made assumptions,” she continued and your sobs died down to sniffles. “We’ll make sure he’ll get punished, and you’ll stay home next week with us okay?” she said, and you nodded, as you let Maria go and clung onto your other mom.
“I’m sorry mama. I didn’t mean to break his nose, I just wanted him gone,” you cried out, and Natasha nodded as she stroked your hair. “You made the right choice,” she told you, and you nodded.
The next day, your moms contacted the school, and you went to the principal’s office again. This time to watch the security footage. It was clear to see the boy had tried to get in your pants, and it was clear how he had you cornered while you were trying to push him off. After he didn’t let go, you punched him, and he fell to the floor as he started yelling.
The principal apologized, and said the boy would be punished and reported to the police.
On your way home, you were happily murmuring along to the song on the radio, looking out the window. “I just wanted to say I’m really sorry for not asking you what happened first,” you heard Natasha say, and you turned to her with a smile. “It’s okay,” you told her, and she smiled back.
“That was one hell of a punch though.”

I litteraly can't stop thinking about this post from @whumped-by-glitter ~ Like, can we (please) take a minute to think about how perfect it's for Wandanat or BlackHill x young!R where they take her out of the Red Room?? | Warnings & Tags : messy blurb? (imagine? idk, just wanting to share my thoughts, and couldn't stop writing), mainly BlackHill, mentions of the Red Room/past abuses, no idea if that makes sense. Imagine, teen or young adult R that fails a mission, and is captured by SHIELD/The Avengers. R isn't really cooperative, even if she is not under mind control anymore, she firmly believes that. However, Nat just can't accept the idea of leaving her rotting in a cell for the rest of her life for something that isn't really her fault. Despite what R can say, Natasha wants to believe that it's not true, and that she will be able to show her that life is way more than the Red Room.
But it's not that easy. Nat more than anyone else knows that you don't come back from the Red Room that easily, and she can only assumes that it would be worst for someone that went under mind control. And she was right. At first, she tried to introduce you to how life outside is, how sweet it could be, but she quickly noticed that it didn't work. Whenever she asks you a question about what you would like, she gets no answer. If she doesn't tell you to eat or to go somewhere, you don't do it. The amount of time you didn't followed her or talked because she didn't especially told you to do so is insane, especially in the beginning. So she decides to do what she thinks it's best, even if she hates it: giving you order, being stern with you, offering you a place you know, where you feel safe (no matter how sick it's) because you can predict it, a space where you'll be fine as long as you do as your ask. The world is a big and scary place in which to evolve in, especially when you don't have the keys to understand it - what you do something you're not supposed to, and you're punished for that? R will eventually come here, but it'll definitely takes a lot of time.
But obvsiouly Nat' is hating herself for that. She knows she has to do it, for you, but it doesn't make it easier. She does it because she believes it will help you to feel better, and because if you're under her orders, they have less reasons to be worried that you would attend something under Dreykov's name (or try to go back to him). She feels guilty, and old thoughts about her not being better than the man that made them are coming back. But Maria/Wands are here to help their wife <3
AND SO, here is how I see things if it's WandaNat we're talking about - I picture Wands as the soft mom she is shown as in Wandavision, and she would definitely not appreciate Nat's methods. She trusts her wife, she knows that she has her reasons, and it must be the best way to help you, but she still doesn't like it. She hates the way you always look down, the way you would do everything her wife is asking without thinking twice about it, and most of it, she hates when you're calling Nat' "ma'am" or something else of that kind. She hates even more than her wife isn't saying anything. She didn't know you for long, but she already loves you as her own, and it pains her when you reject her. Sometimes, she and Nat would argue about the whole situation (and those arguments would definitely go too far).
BUT imagine if it's BlackHill?? Even better in my opinion, and definitely can't stop thinking about it ~ Because, unlike Wanda, Maria is directly concerned. She read your file, she saw footages of you killing dozens of people, she tracked you, lost men in the process, and she saw how you didn't seem to regret anything when she questioned you. So Maria has every reasons to be worried, especially for her wife's security (physically and mentally). What if it's just a part of a biggest plan to attempt to kill the redhead? Or worst, to take her back there? I can easily Maria being upset, and taking it out on the other recruit she is training (poor them), not daring to do much more than glaring at you, knowing her wife wouldn't appreciate. And even if she doesn't appreciate R, she trusts and love her wife, so she lets her do her thing. But she is always somewhere looking at you with a stern face, waiting for the moment you would make a mistake to step-in. But you never really make a mistake, always following Nat's orders at the perfection, which is kinda frustrating because then she has no reason to get rid of you. Except if one day R's misunderstood one of Nat's orders, which lead to a heavy situation <3 It's honestly the only situation I imagine leading to an argument between Maria & Nat. Like, maybe you hurt someone or stole something or idk, thinking you did good, and they would be proud, but when you come in the room they're just looking at you with that shocked face. But you did what you had to, no? That's exactly what you were asked to do, so why are they angry? AND IMAGINE THE ANGST FROM NOW. R's confusion, Nat' desesperatly trying to find a solution, trying to convince Maria that it was just a mistake (that was her fault because she is the one that wasn't careful with her words) but she doesn't change her mind. Pulling the "what if it happens again?" and "I am your superior, you don't get to discuss my order" cards, knowing that it would pain Nat', but she has to do it in order to keep her safe. Bonus point if Nat turns to Fury, trying to convince him as she knows her wife won't change her mind, but he doesn't say much, just agreeing with her agent, mumbling a simple "sorry" Nat doesn't want to hear. Obviously, it would eventually
AND (because there is more), I also can't stop thinking about that comment from @light-me-on-pyre ;
Tumblr media
Like, I can easily imagine R hating Nat'. It would make so much sense because she grew up in a place where Nat' was pictured as the enemy, the one that betrayed "the ones that gave everything to her". But it wouldn't be the exact reason why R is hating Nat'. I mean, right, she hates her because she left, but mainly because of the consequences it had for the ones that came after - the worsened conditions, the mind control, etc - and how she succeed what's supposed to be impossible: leaving the Red Room. Not only physically, but mentally. Imagine R seeing Nat' on the news when she is on a mission or seeing her interacting with Maria/the Avengers, witnessing Nat' being happy. It's something she was told she doesn't deserve/will never have from a young age, so why would Nat' have the right to be happy when so many didn't? It was so much easier to hate on Nat' than on Dreykov all these years because she wasn't here, and no one would blame her to do so. But now? It's easier to continue hating Nat', for R to convince herself that the redhead is bad despite the appearances because it's easier than admitting that her whole life is a lie (kinda). And the fact that Nat' has to take the "bad guy" role in order to help R only makes things easier because, in the end, she is not different from the others, right? And so, as Nat' can't provide R the comfort she needs, it's all on Maria (at least for the beginning) who doesn't have a choice. But we all know that despite her cold demeanour, she is all soft, she is just scared for the ones she loves <3 Which includes Nat', because she saw how her wife is affected by your arrival. First, she has nightmares again because, with you, inevitably came back old memories and traumas. Then, Maria can see how her wife is so invested in your case that she barely sleep/eat/ (which is one of the reasons why she doesn't really appreciate R ...). But also, what would happen if they can't save you?
Bonus point if things get better but something happen, and everything get worse again, throwing away all these months of progress. But what if they don't have the patience to start all over again?
It's definitely (one of) my favorite trope because the amount of angst/comfort it holds is insane, and I am going crazy about it (you can tell by the lenght of that post that was supposed to be a few lines ...). Do I want to write something like that when I already have too many WIPs? Yes. Will I do it? I don't know, but I'll definitely be thinking about it 24/24 & 7/7.

Maria after trying to lecture Nat after a mission:
Maria: "Will you at least look at me when I'm talking to you?"
Natasha: "Can't."
Maria: "What?".
Maria: "What do you mean you can't?"
Natasha: "Can't look at you."
Maria hesitates.
Maria: "Why not?"
Natasha: “Too pretty.”

Title: i loved you like the sun
Relationships: Reader/Natasha Romanov (One sided), Maria Hill/Natasha Romanov
Warnings: Brief/Vague mentions of abuse.
You gripped your backpack straps nervously as you stared at the new school. After just moving to Ohio, your family moving around constantly due to your father working for SHIELD, it meant another new school. That was nothing new, but still you hated the feeling.
Without a parent here to support you, you had to find your classroom on your own. Bright colors greeted you upon entering the classroom, and a bright, cheery teacher. This was the type of room you expected for kindergarten - the bright colors, motivational posters...all that good stuff-, but fourth grade seemed a bit old for that.
After being greeted by your teacher, who adorned circle glasses and had her brunette hair pulled into a low bun, you were sat in the corner with a blonde girl behind you and a red-headed boy, who kept picking his nose, next to you. Crinkling your nose in disgust, you settled in and awaited a lecture from your teacher who had too pitchy of a voice for your taste.
Throughout the lecture the girl behind you, you think the teacher called her Caroline, kept kicking your seat and catapulting spit wads at you. They fell the to floor silently, a few sticking to your hair. Once again, the bullying was nothing new.
After finally being released for lunch, you ventured towards the cafeteria with your lunchbox in hand. Scanning the area for a quiet corner you couldn't quite find one, the best place being a spot in the back occupied only by a blue-haired girl. You scanned the area one more time to make sure there were no more seats available for reluctantly heading over towards the girl. The blue-haired girl glanced up at you as you sat on the farthest end of the bench. She looked you up and down with green eyes, almost a blue-shade but still green, before looking down and doodling on her notebook.
Electing to ignore her, you plucked your lone orange out of lunch bag and scarfed it down - being the only thing you've eaten all day. The girl eyed you weirdly, making you realize you probably ate the orange like a rabid animal, but at this point you could care less.
"Do you need more food?" her quiet voice spoke up.
You whipped your head up to look at her with wide eyes and rosy cheeks.
"I- um- if you have some," your lips felt heavy when you tried to force words past your lips as her caring eyes gazed at you and passed over half a sandwich.
"Aren't you hungry?" you asked, "and thanks."
The girl shrugged, "Eh, you seem hungrier."
"Thanks," you mumbled, "My name's Y/N."
There wasn't a response for a long moment, before eventually the girl replied, "Natasha."
"Nice to meet you, Natasha."
<_____________>
Throughout the next few weeks, you and Natasha slowly became friends. Very awkward friends. You, being scared to make a friend for fear of having to move, and her being...you didn't actually know, she just didn't seem keen on making friends. Maybe she was just shy.
Your cheek ached subconsciously as you wandered into school the next day. The hand shapped bruise forming under you hoodie was a testament to the rough night you had, and the bruise on your cheek wasn't easy to cover up with makeup. Natasha greeted you quietly in the halls before narrowing her eyes at your cheek.
She grabbed your chin and turned your head side to side, "Are you wearing makeup?"
You slapped her hand away, "No."
With a huff you started walking away.
"I know you’re lying," she accused, "I can see the tiny little grains of makeup. Crappy makeup."
You exhaled through your nose, "I'm not wearing makeup Natasha."
Natash glared at you, making her annoyance clear, before stomping ahead towards class. You puffed up your cheeks in frustration before trailing after her. After taking your usual seat and pulling out your notebook, you glanced at Natasha across the room. Even though you could tell she knew you were staring, she always did, the blue-haired girl kept her head ducked and was doodling in her notebook. You decided to do the same, or you were planning to but the girl behind you kept chucking spit wads in your hair.
By the end of class, you are certain that at least three crumbled up, wet, paper balls had slid down your back. Snatching up your backpack and pulling out your lunch, you marched towards the cafeteria and took your usual seat. For the first time in a few weeks, you and Natasha sat opposite each other and didn't talk.
Just as you were about to eat the cookie you had been saving for a few days after receiving it from a family friend, your mother not allowing you any and you had to sneak this one, Caroline came and plucked it out of your hand.
"Hey!" you scrambled out of your seat to try and grab but the girl danced away with a taunting laugh.
"Give it back!"
Caroline shoved half of it in her mouth, chewing mockingly, before dropping the other half and squishing it with her foot, "Oops."
Your face burned red when you noticed at least half the cafeteria was staring, no doubt noticing your screeching. Just as you were about the sulk back over to your seat, a mop of blue hair shoved Caroline to the ground.
Natasha stood above her with crossed arms and a scowl firmly implanted on her face, "You owe her a cookie."
"No, I don't," Caroline contradicted.
"Yes," Natasha disagreed firmly, "You do."
Something in Caroline changed, you weren't sure what, but she nodded quickly before scrambling to her feet and nearly running away. Natasha turned towards you, her eyes glittering with concern.
"You, ok?"
"Fine." you responded, your voice curt.
"Are you made at me about earlier?" Natasha asked as you both took your seats once more, this time sitting a bit closer.
"Maybe," you shrugged, "I also thought you were mad at me."
"Oh..." Natasha trailed off and cleared out the air in cheeks, contemplating her response, "I'm not mad at you...Sorry."
You blinked owlishly at her before replying, "I'm sorry for being stubborn too."
She smiled at you, a small, genuine one and you smiled back. A small ache developed in your chest, one you couldn't quite place.
That was the only fight you ever had with her, and for the next two years Natasha would be your best friend. She would be your sun in the dark.
<___________>
Overtime, you and Natasha hung out more. You read together at the library, went to the Starbucks down the street once a month to get drinks with allowance money, and sometimes you two snuck out of your houses and laid together in a tree staring at the stars. It was the same tree every time, this one near the school. You would both dress in your school clothes and bring your backpacks before sleeping next to each other in the tree.
"Natasha?" you asked one night after the first day of fifth grade, gazing at the stars through the leaves of the tree, "Do you think we'll always be like this?"
"Huh? Where'd that come from?" she turned her head to look at you and lay on her side.
"Uh- well-" you shrugged awkwardly, "Just thinking out loud."
Natasha thought for a moment before propping herself up on her elbow, "I doubt we'll be together forever. Isn't that what growing up is all about?"
"I guess," you murmured.
The two of you brewed in silence for a moment, you gazing up at Natasha from where she had propped herself up her elbow, and her looking down on you with kindness in her eyes.
"I don't think I want to grow up," you whispered into the dark.
"....neither do I."
Natasha shifted to lay down and you both casted your gaze back to the stars. There was that small ache in your chest again, one that made it feel like your chest was about to explode with some overwhelming feeling, but still you couldn't place it. Not after having known Natasha all those years.
"I wish we could be like this forever," you announced.
You thought you heard Natasha sniffle slightly before she replied, "Me too."
<_______________>
Despite being friends all throughout fourth grade and half of fifth grade, you and Natasha had never been to each other’s houses. Not once in the entire near two years of knowing each other had you gone to each other's houses. Neither of you brought it up. Group projects were done at the library or the park, you met up at Starbucks down the street. It was never mentioned why home seemed to be avoided.
However, you had met her mother - a brunette woman with stern eyes but a kind voice. She smiled at you and asked about your parents and your life. If you enjoyed school. If you father ever talked about his work (You didn't mention that he was nearly never home, and the times he was wasn't used for work). What your favorite color was. All the basic stuff. You decided you liked Mrs. Melina.
Natasha's little sister was with her the day you met her mom at the park. Her younger sister, a blonde who was named Yelena, was a bright girl with a toothy smile. She babbled to you about horses, one of her favorite animals, and her favorite TV shows, and how her daddy was going to take her on a big adventure one day. (You missed the way Natasha winced at that last one, and her eyes fogged over slightly.)
Then one day, Natasha invited you over with a hesitant smile, "My mom was saying if you and your parents wanted to come over for dinner next week...."
"Um-" you rubbed the back of your neck, "My dad isn't due to be back for a few weeks, and my mum works all nights." The second was a lie, your mother didn’t work.
"Oh," Natasha deflated slightly before brightening back up, "You can come over still if you want."
"I would love to."
There was that tiny little feeling in your chest that made it feel heavy with emotion as you accepted her offer, but you still couldn't place it.
With spring break coming up, you and Natasha didn't see each other as often, neither of you having excuses to leave the house. Despite that you were both determined for you to come over for dinner.
After practically buzzing with excitement you snuck out of the house, your mother passed out on the couch with her arm slung over her head, and made your way over to Natasha's on your bike. She had told you her address, so you were able to figure out where it was.
When you arrived, there was a new car in the driveway and a moving truck. Hesitantly you creeped up the steps and knocked on the door. It took a moment before it swung open to reveal an elderly lady with gold rimmed glasses and grey hair. She smiled at you kindly, but with confusion in her eyes.
"How can I help you sweetie?"
"Um..." you fumbled slightly before responding, "I'm looking for the Romanoff household?"
The woman tilted her head slightly before hollering back into the house, "Jaime!"
A young man, maybe a few years older than you came skidding into view, his hair disheveled, "Yes, grandma?"
"Have you heard of the Romanoffs?"
You nervously fiddled with your thumbs.
"Oh!" the boy perked up, "they were the family who lived here before us."
"Do you maybe know why they left?" you asked.
"No, sweetie," the woman glanced at you with pity, "I'm sorry if you knew them."
"Thank you," you whispered, "I'm sorry for wasting your time."
As you started to walk away the older woman stopped you and told you to wait. She walked back into her house for a moment, her grandson following, and it took everything in you to contain your tears to before you left. The woman came back with a baggie filled with chocolate chips and passed them towards you.
"Take care," she murmured, "Eat some more. You're looking skinny."
You thanked the woman profusely before hopping on your bike.
Tears streaked down your face as you biked back towards your house. Natasha just left . She left and didn't tell you. Natasha was your best friend and she left without telling you. That hurt more than your mothers punches did. For once, you thought you made real someone, someone you thought you could dare to call your best friends. Yet, she left without a word.
It was hard sneaking into the house without sobbing violently and waking up your mother, but once you made it took your room you collapsed into heaving sobs.
You had made friends before, but none as good as Natasha. She defended you, she gave you extra food, and you looked after each other. Then she just up and left. With a surge of anger to rushed to your feet and yanked all the photos of the wall of you too. You tore them down and threw them in the trash. All but one.
Carefully, you cradled one photo in your hand. It was your birthday - one of the only days your father visited. He heard about Natasha and offered to take you two out. You guys went to a trampoline park, and after being sweaty with messed up hair ate pizza and birthday cake.
This photo stared you and Natasha smiling wide toothy smiles, you missing a middle top tooth, and arms wrapped around each other. Cake frosting was covering your faces, and your father was laughing behind you - his hand on his stomach and the other holding a cake platter. The photo was taken by a family friend who dropped off the cake.
You tucked that into a drawer by your bed and decided you wouldn't think of Natasha Romanoff anymore. She was gone and there was nothing you could do about it.
<__________>
Deciding to take after your father, you joined SHIELD straight out of collage. With straight A's and a good word put in from your father, you got accepted immediately. You quickly climbed the ranks, being level five by the time you were twenty two.
Then you heard a name you hadn't heard in a long time.
"Bro-" one of your bunkmates and teammates, Connor, exclaimed, "did you hear about the crazy assassin they brought in? Apparently she's from this place called the Red Room and Clint Barton brought her in even though he was supposed to kill her."
"I heard she has over 50 assassinations," your other teammate, Carmen murmured.
After finishing the year of rookie training, you had been assigned four teammates. For the last three years they had been your team and bunkmates. There was Connor, Olivia, Marcus, and for a while Clint Barton was part of that. You were probably the closest with him, but you were all a team - and dare you say friends. Then Clint Barton got reassigned to Agent Coulson's team and he was replaced with Barbara, Bobbi, Morse.
"Clint said that he just couldn't kill her," you chimed in. Clint still kept in contact with you, texting nearly every day.
"Does anyone have a name?" Bobbi asked as she waltzed in wearing a lab coat.
"Woah!" Marcus exclaimed, jolting upright from where he sat upside-down on his bed, "Where'd you come from."
Everyone ignored him, per usual, before Connor responded, "Natasha Romanoff, well Natalia Romanova, but I heard she changed it."
Time seemed to slow for a minute. Natasha Romanoff...you had heard that name before. Natasha Romanoff.....
It came back to you in a rush.
A mop of blue hair.
A tentative smile, but still wide and cheerful none the less.
A girl standing up for you after you got bullied.
A photo you still kept in your safe-keeps box.
A sun shinning down on your really crappy life.
Nearly two years of friendship thrown out the window.
Natasha Romanoff, you best childhood friend. Really your only childhood friend. She was back and apparently an assassin. And in SHIELD.
Well this threw a wrench in your plans to completely forget about her.
<_____________>
Over the next few years you watched Natasha Romanoff climb the ranks of SHIELD, then you watched her become an avenger. Her hair was red now, so different from her short, blue mop of hair. Her eyes were greener, not the blue-ish green they used to be. Her features were more defined, obviously. No, you were not stalking her, but when your old childhood friend joins your workplace, anyone would keep up with what they were doing. Right? Right.
You and Clint still texted frequently texted, but he never brought up his Avenger friends, so you never brought up your old connection to Natasha.
When SHIELD crashed, you were lacking a job. Severely. That was your entire life. Ever since you dad passed a few years back, you had no home to go to. Your mom was out of the question, so that ruled out any family. However, Clint invited you over for Christmas, and you had been going for every major holiday since. Until he mentioned he would start bringing Natasha over, every year after that you made an excuse not to go. Clint was starting to get tired of it.
But regardless, SHIELD was crashed, and you couldn't go stay with Clint. The chance of running into Natasha were too high, and you didn't want to burden him like that. Then, after you barely scrapping by with rent on your new apartment, Clint texted you.
    Clint Barton - 10:27
Hey Dummy, I found you a job
You pulled out phone before typing a reply back.
    You - 10:28
      Where?
    Clint Barton - 10:28
The Tower. Tony's, really the whole team, is looking for someone to help run backend (SHIELD may have crashed but we still have missions) and do paper work for us (ever         since Tony hired Maria a few days ago, she's been on top of that). I can tell him I got a g'all for the job if your interested.
You hesitated. Working at the tower and running backend would mean you would have to interact with Natasha, but you also didn't have a choice. You needed that job because soon enough you wouldn't be able to pay rent.
    Clint Barton - 10:31
Tony says he's willing to give you an apartment in the tower for free
Your reply was instant.
    You - 10:31
      I'm in.
<____________>
Moving into the tower wasn't difficult, you had minimal stuff - a few photos of your and father, clothes, plus your keepsakes box. You pinned the photos up in your room, a luxurious space with a floor to ceiling window on one wall, cream colored walls, a walk in closet, and bathroom attached. The clothes were placed in the closet and you shoved the keepsakes box under the queen sized bed.
At first you tried telling Stark it was too much, but he shook his finger in your face and said, "Too late. Besides I need you on stand by in case we need anything."
Clint told you that you should come to dinner tonight on the 98th floor - the communal floor and eight floors above you -, so that you could get to know everyone. You showered, now letting your hair smell of strawberries and lavender, and dressed in casual, but nice clothes. A black blouse and dark blue jeans with some flats. Work casual more like it.
When you arrived the entire avengers team was staring at you, all but one. Everyone was there, Clint, Tony Stark, Thor Oddison, Bruce Banner, Steve Rogers. The only one missing was Natasha.
Rogers stood to greet you, "It's a pleasure to meet you miss..."
"Y/L/N," you introduced, "Y/N Y/L/N."
He stuck out his hand, "Pleasure to meet you Ms. Y/L/N. Steve Rogers."
You shook his hand firmly in return.
"Cap, when you're done being a gentlemen can we eat please?" Tony called out, his tone overdramatic.
Steve walked you over to the table and pulled out a chair for you.
"It is nice to meet you lady Y/L/N!" Thor exclaimed as he served himself a large portion of spaghetti, "I'm sure we will get along nicely."
You smiled kindly in return, "I'm sure we will," you glanced around once more, mainly for show before asking, "Where's Black Widow?"
"Oh, she's out with her girlfriend," Tony threw out casually, making kissy faces, "They're probably sucking face right now."
"Can we not at the table?" Steve asked as he elbowed Tony.
"I second that," Banner interrupted.
"I think it's quite sweet that lady Natasha and lady Maria find joy in each other!" Thor announced.
The entire time your head was realing. Natasha had a girlfriend..? For some reason that stung, deep and hard. It cut straight to your heart and laid heavy in your chest. Her girlfriend was Maria, you assumed Maria Hill. A feeling, akin to jealousy (but it couldn't be jealousy, no way. You didn't get jealous over relationships.), kindled in your chest. Maria had always gotten what you wanted. You had trained with her in the academy, she always had better grades. And now...she had your childhood friend. That was fine. You were fine.
Dinner went smoothly, you all conversing with each other. When you were done you excused yourself, cleared your plate, and said you wanted to get an early start tomorrow so you were going to turn in. Steve smiled kindly at you and offered to walk you back to your room. You declined and made your way back to elevator. Just as you were about the hit the up button the door dinged and out stepped Natasha Romanoff and Maria Hill.
For a moment your brain forgot how to function. Natasha wore a red, sleeveless shirt with a black skirt and matching heels. Silver earrings lined her ears, with a gold necklace. Her hair flowed down in soft waves and curled inwards at her shoulders. Her face looked like it was carved out of marble, her jawline perfect and cheekbones beautiful. Red lipstick highlighted her lips as she laughed at something Maria said, and her cheeks lit up in a rosy red.
Her eyes, green as ever, darted towards you stepping towards the elevator and her eyes widened.
The two of you stared at each other for a long moment, everyone else forgotten.
"Y/N?" she questioned, her voice no more than a whisper.
"Natasha." you greeted with a curt nod, "I was just going to my room."
You strode past them, the ache in your chest gone and filled with a familiar feeling - anger. Years of anger, anger at her for leaving when you needed her most, leaving without telling you, and not even bothering to look. You had searched for months, with what limited resources you had. And here she was, with a girlfriend and being an avenger.
Her voice called out to you as you stepped into the elevator and you saw her rushing towards you as the elevator door closed.
<____________>
Once you got to your room, you promptly pulled out your keep-sake box and dug around in it for a special photo. Pulling it out was the photo of you and Natasha on your birthday, your dad in the back. You traced your finger over the scratch marks, and all the little details on the photos. Tears sprang into your eyes as you remembered those days.
Natasha really was your only friend. When you needed her most, the days when your father left more, and your mother started drinking more. She was gone, and you needed a friend. You don't think you made friends after that, other your bunkmates and Clint.
But now she was back in your life.
God you were so stupid to accept the job. You should have just found somewhere else. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
"Y/N...?" a voice called through your door followed by a hesitant knock.
You didn't want to open the door, but if you were going to work here you might as well talk it out. With slow, heavy steps you walked over and opened the door a crack to reveal Natasha.
"Can I come in?"
You opened to door further to let her in and she took a look around.
"I see you haven't decorated much."
"I didn't have much to decorate with," you shrugged.
She sighed, "Y/N..."
"What do you want Nat?"
Natasha flinched slightly, "I get your mad at me. I left without a trace. I'm- I'm really sorry for that," she ducked her head, "but- I really didn't have a choice."
"Was our friendship even real? Or were you just using me to get closer to my dad?" you accused. You heard about her mission once she joined SHIELD. Natasha had been sent to Ohio, undercover, to gather SHIELD date.
"If you want it to be real," she mumbled.
"I do," you whispered, "but do you think it was real?"
"I think it was the only real thing about that mission."
You sighed and rubbed your forehead.
"Look- I want to start over. Re-do," she proposed and stuck her hand out.
You smiled at her familiar antics, anger forgotten (you never could stay mad at her), and stuck your hand out to shake hers, "Y/N Y/L/N"
"Natasha Romanoff," she smiled back at you.
<___________>
A few years later you were standing in a pale red dress, not pink, and holding a bouquet of flowers.
"Natasha Romanoff, do you take Maria Hill to be your bride?"
You wished Natasha would look at you the way she looked at Maria.
"I do," the red-head murmured.
"You may kiss the bride."
Cheers erupted as Natasha and Maria kissed, slow and soft. Natasha's white dress spilled out behind her, not too long, but still beautiful and matching Maria's black suit.
Everyone migrated to the ceremony and you tried to be happy for your best friends as they shared their first dance. Over the last few years you had become really close with Maria and Natasha, although you and Maria had a bit of a rockier start - even rockier than you and Nat. But you got along eventually.
That ache in your chest resurfaced, that one feeling you didn't think you would ever identify, but it was still there. Natasha twirled in her wife's arms as Wanda leaned over to you.
"I can hear your thoughts," she whispered, her accent thick, "I'm sorry."
"Why?"
Wanda gave you a look, "You love her do you not?"
And suddenly, that ache in your chest made sense, "I guess I do." You realized that feeling was love.
But Natasha was married and happy, so that would have to be enough for you.

Secret Invasion Second Episode Reaction
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wait a minute! ... Wait a minute!!!
Why is no one talking about this scene?
PROBABLY! ... JUST PROBABLY!!! ...
The MCU replaced Maria Hill's abusive father with two loving mothers... 🫠🫠🫠🫠 I think it's nice and less painful that Maria had a good past unlike her counterpart in the comics ..
Despite the circumstances I think that would be great and cute ..
I would like to read in future fics how Maria introduces her mothers to Natasha and they share stories about Maria when she was a little girl 🥹🥹🥹🥲🥲 ..
well a girl can dream right? ... 🥹

Hotel room hell pt2
Pt 1 here
Summary: The mission definitely wasn't a success and Wanda was pissed off about it, not as pissed off as you though, captured and waiting to be rescued, when you are rescued it doesn't go that much better
Words: 2,700
Warnings: 18+ Minors DNI! Sorry guys no smut but there's, angst and angry Wanda, but some comfort too Wanda also switching from hating you to wanting you because she's confused
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Well that was a fucking disaster!" Wanda stormed into the room ignoring Nat's pleas for her to calm down
"Wanda come on it wasn't that bad! We all survived and I'm proud of my shot off on that metal covered guy, went down like a led ballon" she laughed, stopping when Maria slapped the back of her head
"Y/n got taken Nat! Stop joking around"
Wanda threw some of her magic at the wall making a burnt hole and making the other two jump "we need to get her back" her voice was low and dangerous sounding "they will pay for what they did"
Maria slowly approached the seething witch "Wanda honey, we will get her back, do you hear me? We will get her back"
“I thought you hated her?” Nat interjected but Wanda just shrugged “I do, but only I get to torture her, not some HYDRA scum”
********************************************************
"Listen gents you've made a terrible mistake, now you seem like nice people and you've just made a little error in judgement, but if you let me go we'll never see each other again and I won't say a thing"
You knew it was pointless, these guys wanted you and used the silly drug deal as a distraction to get you, you don't know why they wanted Venom, they were a pain in your ass really but definitely good for battle when you allowed them
"Y/n I know you are waiting for something, may I make my presence known?"
You shook your head whispering back so the kidnappers didn't hear "that's what they want, they want to see you in action, no keep quiet, I don't want them getting you"
"So you do care for me?! I knew it"
You smiled, of course you liked the alien, they're literally apart of you so you technically had no choice but they were fun
"Tell me! Tell me where she is!" Wanda had a man in a tight chokehold by her magic, every minute that passed by he didn't answer the tendrils got tighter
"I can feel your mind breaking down and slowly dying, you will die a painful and pointless death, tell me where Y/n is!
He let out strangled scream lifting his hand pointing to a locked door before going limp in her hold, she dropped him to the ground stepping over him to the locked door
Maria and Nat appeared around the corner having dispatched a few other guys "Wanda what happened?"
The witch shrugged "he told me what I needed to know" she blasted the hard steel door open surprising the group of men, making them move away from something in the room, you, you'd been beaten, blood spilling from your mouth and your eye and cheek bruised
Wanda saw red, pointing her magic towards the men tearing their bodies from the inside, knowing what that meant Maria and Nat closed their eyes trying to ignore the pained screams, this was too much even for a trained assassin.
“Wanda?” You whimpered when she held your cheek in her hand, the small movement causing a lot of pain
“You’re safe now, they won’t hurt you again” her once anger filled face softened
“They’re gone?” You whispered and when she nodded you sighed feeling Venom wake up and take care of your bruised body, your pain wasn’t as intense and your bones started to mend, small amounts of bruising remained but you could deal with that
You couldn’t keep your eyes open when the pain left wanting to sleep now that you could, the last thing you heard was Wanda’s soft voice “sleep detka, you will be okay”
Nat tried to help Wanda lift you from the chair the witch refused “my magic can carry her, you and Maria make sure it’s safe to walk through to the car”
The assassin nodded and turned to her girlfriend who was eyeing Wanda suspiciously but Nat calmed her down “she holds her emotions on her sleeve, it’ll be better to stay out of her way”
The women left the witch alone with you using her tendrils to wrap around your body like a soft blanket “I don’t think I hate you anymore”
****************************************
“Y/n are you awake? I can feel your stomach rumbling and I believe that means you are hungry”
You stirred in your sleep slowly waking up coming face to face with Wanda who looked like she was concentrating on something “shh honey don’t move I’m nearly finished cleaning your head wound, just then you felt the damp cloth on your head, you thought Venom fixed everything?
Venom couldn’t fix everything, they mumbled about being unable to fix skin wounds” you kept forgetting she read your mind without permission
“Thank you” your voice was soft and Wanda smiled “you're very welcome my pretty alien filled girl"
You let out a little chuckle and closed your eyes again letting Wanda fix you
“A shame I have to keep hating you really, we'd be very cute together"
You knitted your eyebrows together in confusion and opened your eyes "you don't have to keep hating me Wanda"
She chuckled using her hand to grip your chin forcing you to look up at her "no I don't think so honey, hating you makes the sex better" she smirked leaning down to kiss you "and what's better than hate sex?"
You rolled your eyes "we could role play once a week hating each other"
"Too easy, no, I still have plenty of things to hate about you" She finished cleaning you up "especially that clump of goo inside you"
Venom's head appeared from your body glaring at Wanda "you are just mad I haven't chosen you as my host, you know we'd be powerful together"
Wanda shuddered in disgust "I'd rather peel my own skin off than have you inside of me"
She stood up leaving you alone to get some rest saying she'd come back to check on you to finish your wounds and after the alien had stopped being a dick
*************************************************************
When Wanda returned you promised Wanda that Venom wouldn't annoy her anymore
"How's the patient?" Nat peeked her head through the door watching Wanda deal with you
"She's okay and so is her creepy alien"
A low rumble came from you and Wanda looked at you oddly
"It was Venom, they don't like being called creepy"
Wanda rolled her eyes standing from the bed where you were "they need to get over themselves, get up and get packed, our jobs here are done and we need to go back to the compound and tell Tony we fucked up"
"Are you blaming me for the fuck up?" You stood up following Wanda through the room
"All I'm saying Y/n is that if you didn't have that stupid alien then we wouldn't be in this mess-
You pushed her against the wall using Venom's sudden strength "it wasn't my fucking fault! Maybe if you could actually use some common sense you would've done things correct!"
Wanda picked herself up off the wall turning to you with red in her eyes and her power floating around her hands making you laugh
"Oh here we go using your chaos magic to act all threatening, maybe if you used that power years ago your brother might have lived!"
Silence. Silence filled the room and you instantly regretted saying it
"Wanda-
"Don't" her voice was an angry whisper that even made Venom shiver "don't you ever talk about my brother again"
You tried again "Wanda please I-
Suddenly Wanda pressed you against the wall using her magic to hold you still "you what? Didn't mean to tell me I'm the reason my fucking brother's dead?!"
She had you there, you did say that but you wanted to calm her down now "Wanda please I'm really sorry I didn't mean it! I'm just annoyed but shouldn't have sunk that low"
"You're fucking right you shouldn't have sunk that low and if you dare say anything like that again I'll tear you apart from the inside taking that alien apart too"
You nodded your head begging to be let go which she did but when you fell down to the ground she knelt down gripping your chin forcing you to look at her "I can't wait to be rid of you properly"
"But what about the hate sex?" Was it a bad time for a joke? Yes but that's how you deal with very stressful situations
Wanda forced a smirk "it will be very hateful, trust me" she dropped your chin standing up and swiftly leaving the room and leaving you alone for a while, until Nat came running into the room
"Y/n! You're alive!"
"Oh wow really? I thought I died in that stupid HYDRA room, kinda wish I did actually"
Nat crossed her arms "you know what I'm sick of your sarcasm"
You sat there with your mouth wide open "are you serious?? You're the most sarcastic person in the world!"
Maria came into the room seeing the two of you and just rolled her eyes coming to pick you up "honey what did you say to Wanda?"
You remained silent not wanting to respond but Maria forced it out of you "maybe something about saying she was the reason her brother died?"
Nat gasped "you fucking didn't!"
"Shut up!" You shouted along with Venom's voice making everyone jump "I didn't mean it! She was just annoying me and it got out of hand!"
You were breathing heavy at this point getting really stressed so Maria started calming you down "okay honey please calm down, just breathe nice and slow with me" you breathed with Maria for a while finally calming down
"You okay?" Maria asked and you nodded "yeah yeah I am now Mia thanks, can we go home?"
She smiled "yes come on, I think witchy has already gone home so it's just us three, is that okay?"
She helped you to your feet keeping you close to her body "you're gonna stay with me right?"
Nat pulled up to your other side grabbing your other hand "you're stuck with us both malen'kiy priyatel'"
You groaned, not knowing much Russian but knowing that one "I'm not little, you're as short as me"
"Yeah but I can rest my arm on your shoulder"
Suddenly Venom overtook you standing at 6ft 8 staring down at the Russian
"Natalia I believe we are now a lot taller than you, you can no longer rest your puny arms on our muscular shoulders!"
Nat crossed her arms grumbling under her breath
Maria rolled her eyes "okay you two come on, it's a long plane ride home"
****************************************************************
Before you even crossed the door into the building Tony had you cornered "whatever you've done to witchy little alien you need to apologise, she's broken 4 TV's!"
You groaned removing Tony's iron gripped hands from your clothes "I'll go and talk to her, sorry Tony"
Walking through the compound felt like you were walking to the electric chair, you secretly hoped Wanda was too tired to kill you, or at least try until Venom got tired
"Y/n do you need me to be upfront? I can protect you more if I am in front"
You shook your head "honestly Venom I think you'd make it worse, no offence but she hates you more than she hates me right now"
"Okay, but if she starts anything bad I will automatically take over"
You nodded coming to her door preparing for the worst but you stopped before knocking hearing something inside, is she crying?
Taking a deep breath you knocked on the door and the crying stopped, you heard her shuffling around and open the door to you
"You have 10 seconds before I blast you through the compound" yep she was definitely crying, if her red eyes were anything to go by
"I can't say anything but sorry Wanda I just, I just shouldn't of reacted like that, it was way out of order and I'll spend forever begging for forgiveness I don't deserve"
You closed your eyes preparing for the worst and got scared when it didn't come, so when you opened your eyes and saw her with tears in her eyes still you started talking again "Wanda, do you want to be alone?"
She shook her head enveloping you into a surprised hug, the contact made Venom spook and push her away from you in a protective way
"Woah woah Venom its okay, she wasn't hurting us!"
"I panicked Y/n!"
You looked back at Wanda who was slightly shocked but was still upset, you stepped into the room and shut the door "Wanda I'm sorry, they just get a little scared you know"
Wanda didn't care, she hugged you again relaxing into the hug hoping Venom wouldn't push her away again
You didn't know how long you were stood there but it was long enough to make standing a little uncomfortable, Wanda felt you were uncomfortable and pulled away from you "do you want to sit down?"
You nodded looking for somewhere to sit as Wanda sat down on her bed "you can sit on the bed Y/n I won't bite"
You chuckled "somehow I don't believe you" you sat down on the bed next to Wanda and she wiped some tears that escaped her eyes "it was my fault"
You shook your head "no Wanda no it wasn't, you couldn't of stopped it , please don't think it was your fault"
"I could've stopped the bullet, I shouldn't of let him go alone I-
You stopped her rambling "Wanda stop, he went out to save a young boy, he protected a young life, remember what happened when you were younger?"
Wanda started shaking her head "don't make me go back there Y/n"
You continued none the less "you and Pietro were stuck under that bomb for four days, two scared children eventually saved, just think of what Pietro did for that little boy, he wasn't scared because an angel saved him so he could live a long and happy life"
Wanda was full on crying now and you pulled her into a hug "Wanda just let it all out, there's only two of us here"
You two were sat for a while, Wanda's cries getting quieter until eventually she just started sniffling "do you feel better?" Wanda lifted her head from your neck giving you a kiss on the cheek "I don't hate you, I'm sorry"
You used your thumbs to wipe her tears away from her face "it's been a crazy few days right?" You offered her a smile and she gave you one back "yeah it has, I don't think I've slept that much"
"Do you want to go to sleep now? I can leave you to it" you went to stand up but Wanda grabbed your hand "stay with me?" She whispered rubbing your hand and you thought about it "uh sure if you really want me too, I think I'm a good cuddlier"
Wanda laughed "I keep forgetting you're funny"
"Funny or anxious its one of the two" you watched Wanda crawl under the covers leaving a spot for you which you took, laying down and immediately having Wanda nuzzle her head in your neck and wrap her arm around your midsection closing her eyes
"Thank you" she whispered and you took a chance kissing her on her head "it's okay"
*****************************************************************
"Can you hear anything?" Maria and Nat were behind the door trying to hear something, anything to indicate Wanda hadn't killed you, just then Venom's tendrils opened the door and their head appeared
"You two are not very quiet, we are okay in her, Y/n and Wanda are cuddling"
Nat gasped "oooooh they're getting along”
"Until the next time they argue" Maria said but Nat was too happy to care "okay Venom go back to Y/n before they wake back up, we'll come back later"
Nat pushed Maria away from the door, dragging the woman along with her trying to whisper so she wouldn't wake you "we can go on double dates!"
"Nat please"

But the one thing she does regret is giving you up. But when a word gets out that you are in trouble, she will come to rescue you.

“Mail call,” Wanda said, walking into the common area with a few pieces of mail in her hand.
“Who the hell gets paper mail?” Tony asked, pouring coffee into his mug.
“Some of us like to do things without technology,” Steve said as Wanda handed him the newspaper. Tony looked at the super soldier with disbelief. It was rare that the Avengers got mail but each one had specific memberships. Vision received a copy of the newest National Geographic and Pietro got Sports Illustrated. Sometimes Sam received a letter from his service buddies and Steve always got the newspaper, he did take the comics out for Peter. As Wanda handed out the mail, Natasha waited with bated breath to see if she received a letter. It was rare but she was excited nonetheless. The Sokovian smiled at the Black Widow and handed her a letter. It was addressed the same way, her name and her current address with no return.
“Thank you,” the Black Widow said, leaving her unfinished lunch on the table and heading for her room. She barely heard Tony question her odd behavior but she didn’t care. When she was safe behind her bedroom door, she opened the envelope. There was a single picture of a young girl with fiery red hair standing at a picnic table. A birthday cake was lit and presents stayed unwrapped around you. Natasha smiled, moving her finger across your face. Her daughter, whom she only got to hold once on the day she was born. When she defected to SHIELD, she gave up for you to live a normal and safe life. But she was promised that you would go to a good family and on birthdays Natasha would receive a photo. The most important thing was if there was any sign of trouble she would be called in.
“It’s about that time of year,” Maria appeared at her door. “Did you get a photo?” Natasha nodded as her girlfriend sat down next to her. Not counting the agent, four other people knew of your existence. Maria was one of them but not even the Deputy Direction knew of your true location to keep you safe. The agent gently took the picture and smiled.
“She’s spoiled rotten,” Maria teased. The Black Widow chuckled, letting her head fall onto Maria’s shoulder. It was times like this that Natasha questioned if she made the right choice. She wished she could be there for birthdays and every school accomplishment. Maria kissed her head. “I know, baby, I know.”
*
“Miss. Romanoff,” FRIDAY said. Natasha stopped her assault on the sandbag. “Your presence is being requested in the conference room.”
“Do I have time to shower?”
“No, Director Fury said it’s urgent,” it was never a good sign when Fury was involved. She quickly grabbed her water off the floor and headed for the conference room. When she entered, Fury and Maria were standing by a screen and her sister and Clint were sitting at the table. Oh, she did not have a good feeling about this.
“What’s going on?” She asked, not bothering to sit down.
“Does the Winter Soldier mean anything to you?” Of course, it did. He was one of her trainers in the Red Room but also the father of her daughter. In hindsight it was the perfect companionship; one of the Red Room’s best assassins and HYDRA’s most feared weapon. Their child would be the ultimate fighter but they didn’t need to know that.
“Yeah,” Natasha said, crossing her arms. “He’s credited for over two dozen assassinations in the last 50 years.”
“So, he’s a ghost story?” Clint questioned. She shook her head.
“I was escorting a nuclear engineer out of Iran, somebody shot at my tires near Odessa. We lost control, went straight over a cliff,” she said, remembering every part of that day. “I pulled us out, but the Winter Soldier was there. I covered my engineer, so he shot him straight through me,” it was heartbreaking as she stared into the eyes of a man she once knew but there was no recognition in his eyes. She lifted her shirt, revealing a bullet wound on her stomach. “A Soviet slug, no rifling. Bye-bye bikinis.”
“Yeah, I bet you look terrible in them now,” Maria sarcastically said. Natasha smirked.
“Ew,” Yelena said. “He was also a trainer in the Red Room. Before my time but the guards would talk.”
“Why are we here, Fury?” Clint asked. Natasha was wondering the same thing.
“We picked up chatter that was concerning,” he nodded to Maria, who pulled up a recording and played it. The audio was all static and it was hard to hear but Natasha could make out two distinct voices and they said your name and the Winter Soldier.
“Send me there now,” she said. The audio was still playing and Maria quickly stopped it.
“Nat..”
“Don’t ‘Na’t me,” Natasha cut her girlfriend off. “When I gave her up I asked for two things; a picture once or twice a year and to be notified if she’s in danger. In return, I’d never reach out to her.”
“We need you here to run point and we are going to send Belova and Barton to look after her,” Fury instructed.
“Like hell, you are,” Natasha was slowly losing her composure. “She’s my daughter.”
“You don’t have any claim to her,” Natasha’s jaw clenched. Fury sighed. “Can I please speak with Romanoff alone?” Each one of her closest acquaintances left the room and tried to reassure her in their way but she ignored everyone. Her eyes never left the man. When the door closed, Fury sighed again.
“Natasha..”
“Don’t Nick,” she said, walking over to the man. “Don’t say another word because I’m very close to throwing you through a wall,” Fury smirked.
“I’m trying to look after you,” he said. “Your name was mentioned. It could be a trap.”
“I don’t care,” she said. “She’s my daughter even if you don’t think she is,” she saw the smallest clench of his jaw. “I hear her SOS. I will never stop marching toward her. So I’m going. You can’t stop me.” He thought about it.
“Fine,” he relented. “But Maria is coming with you as your backup.”
“Clint will run point and I want Yelena on standby if we need it.” He nodded.
“What do we tell the team?” She wasn’t sure. For the longest time, she’s kept your existence a secret to ensure your safety. But now it may have been all for tonight. No, she couldn’t think like that. You were going to be fine.
“The truth,” she said. “It’s time they know.”
*
“Hurry up,” your best friend called out. You giggled, running over to her. She climbed up to do the monkey bars.
“You got this Sarah,” you cheered as her arms began to shake when she reached halfway. She fell to the ground unable to go the entire way. “Nice try,” you smiled, beginning your turn. You liked the challenge of the monkey bars, the burn of your arms and hands. Unlike Sarah, you didn’t feel your arms shake and you made it all the way across. Sarah rolled her eyes.
“No fair,” she pouted. “How are you so strong?” You shrugged. It was a mystery to you and something you attributed to your biological parents. In PE class, you learned to hold yourself back even though you could beat all the kids in your class. No one wanted to be friends with the abnormally strong girl.
“I don’t know,” you said.
“Come push me on the swings,” Well besides Sarah, she didn’t care that you were stronger than her and she used it to her advantage. You smiled, running after her. She jumped onto the empty swing and you began to push her. It wasn’t long before your mind began to wander as you looked around the park. There was a small party at the pavilion and a small-sided soccer game. A few black vans were parked on the far side. You found your parents sitting at a bench speaking with a man you knew well. Agent Cruise. He was present at every birthday party and family gathering. According to your mom, he was the one that found you when your birth mother abandoned you. Why was he here?
“I’ll be right back,” you told Sarah and walked over to the trio. Agent Cruise saw you right away, a smile on his face.
“Hi firecracker,” he held out his fist and you pumped it three times then gave him a side hug.
“What are you doing here?” You asked him.
“I was in the area and I thought I’d say hi to the family.” That was a lie but you didn’t question it. If he was lying for a reason, it had to be a good one.
“Everything is fine, sweetheart,” your mom said. “Go back and play with Sarah.”
“Okay, love you guys,” you turned around to go back to the playground but a gunshot froze you in your spot. It was a sound you heard on TV and in movies and never expected to hear it in real life. A body crashed into yours pushing you into the ground as another shot went off.
“W-Will,” you stuttered.
“Eyes on me, okay?” You nodded, staring into his brown eyes. “My car isn’t far. I need you to run and I’ll cover you.”
“What about -” Your eyes found your parents, slumped against each other and blood pouring from a single shot in their head. “No,” you whispered, tears pooling at the corner of your eyes but you didn’t let them fall.
“Firecracker, run,” he got off of you and began to fire. You scrambled to your feet as he shot at a man walking towards you. His bullets made him take cover but you locked eyes with him. They were blue, similar to the color of your own eyes. His brown hair was shoulder length and half of his face was covered with a mask. But the most striking feature about him was his metal arm that shone under the California sun.
Finding his car wasn’t hard and it was unlocked when you opened the backseat. You slammed the doors closed and tried to calm your racing heart. You mimicked the breathing technique your dad would do. Breathe in for 5 seconds and hold it for 5. In for 5 seconds and out for 5. Soon your heart rate calmed down but your eyes burned with unshed tears. They died, killed right in front of you. You heard voices outside the car and you covered your mouth to keep quiet. His windows were tinted so they couldn’t see in but they would be able to hear you.
More gunshots and yelling made you yelp and the silhouettes of the men outside disappeared. You removed your hand and listened outside. Soon the car door swung open. You bite back a scream that almost left your lips. “Hey, it’s okay,” you weren’t expecting a woman with red hair and green eyes wearing a black tactical suit. You knew her. Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, and Avenger. “You're safe but I need you to come with me,” you stayed frozen, staring at the woman in front of you. “Look, we are running out of time. Please come with me.” She held out her hand and you took it, hoping you could trust her.
*
This wasn’t how Natasha wanted to meet you. She had so many other ways that didn’t involve your adoptive parents murdered and an assassin who happens to be your biological father hunting you. Nothing was easy for the Black Widow. “Put this on,” she handed you a helmet. “Get on,” she got on the motorcycle and she felt you get on behind her, hesitant arms wrapping around her waist. Natasha kicked up the kickstand and the engine came to life. “I got her,” she said over the comms.
“Well, you got company,” Maria said. Natasha looked behind her and saw 3 vans turning down the street; they were one and the Winter Soldier handing out the window with an AK-47. “Stick to the side streets,” she continued. “I’ll get you both back safely.” Natasha trusted Maria to do just that and started to drive.
“You have to trust me, okay? When I lean, you lean,” Natasha said over the wind. “If you don’t, they will catch us and kill you.” She wasn’t sure if you heard her until she felt your head and squeezed her waist.
“Take your next right,” Natasha let out a shaky breath and turned right. Your body leaned with hers. Okay, the Black Widow thought, maybe they’d get through this.
*
The motorcycle stopped and you took off the helmet. You were in an alley between 2 apartment buildings. The Black Widow got off and helped you down, your legs shook and were a little unsteady. “Come on,” she said, leading you to a door. “We can rest soon.” She opened the door and led you up 2 flights of stairs. The redhead stopped at a door, room 324, and knocked three times. It took a minute for the door to open. In front of you was a woman with black hair, pulled back into a bun. Her brown eyes were sharp but they landed on Natasha and they softened.
“Glad you're alive,” she said, stepping out of the way. You hesitated but followed the Black Widow inside the apartment.
“Did you have that little faith?” Natasha teased sitting on the couch. You could see the tension leave her body.
“What the heck is going on?” You asked. “I just watched my parents die in front of me, a mystery man with a metal man was chasing me, and an Avenger shows up,” you looked at the other woman. “I have no idea who you are or what is going on.”
“I’m Maria,” she waved, sitting down next to Natasha. It was nice to have her name but that did not answer any of your questions.
“We can’t tell you everything right now but you're safe here,” Natasha said. You stared at the redhead, the color so similar to your own. Now that you looked at the Avenger you saw a lot of your features in her.
“How can I feel safe when you won’t tell me the truth?” Her green eyes locked onto your blue ones and she looked away.
“We can’t,” she said. “Not right now.” Your jaw clenched.
“We may be here for a while,” Maria said, standing up. “I’ll show you to your room.” You continued to stare at the Black Widow, wanting her to look at you or wanting to grab her by her shoulders and yell - ‘are you my mother?’ but she wouldn’t look at you. You sighed, following Maria.
“Here you go,” it was a simple room. A bed pushed up in the corner, no TV or posters of any kind. It was a stark contrast to your room. “I know this isn’t ideal,” you skimmed your hand over the bedsheets. “But we will keep you safe.” You looked at Maria.
“She’s my mom, right?” Maria had an excellent poker face but it was a game you’ve been playing since you could talk. She was surprised by your statement so there were a few ways she could go about this; lie, tell the truth, or deflect. You were leaning towards deflection.
“There are take-out menus on the fridge, figure out what you want to eat.” Deflection. It was the easiest way, to tell the truth without betraying someone’s trust.
“Right,” you sat down on the bed. “Thanks.” She nodded.
“Come find us if you need anything,” you didn’t respond as she closed the door. You leaned against the wall, looking out the window to the street down below. People were going about their day unaware of how your life was altered forever.
*
“How is she?” Clint asked over the computer. They just finished a meeting with the rest of the team back in New York to come up with the next phase of the plan. She ignored Tony's thousand and one questions regarding you. Overall he seemed hurt she never told him, since ‘we’ve been through so much together.’ Natasha felt bad, they were her team, her family but sometimes the thought of you hurt too much. But a plan was made which consisted of you, Maria, and Natasha to head to Norway to lay low while the rest of the teams tracked and captured the Winter Soldier. Easier said than done. Now she was only talking with Yelena and Clint while Maria tried to get you to eat.
“She’s quiet,” Natasha knew that was to be expected. “She hasn’t said anything since Maria showed her to her room.”
“Does she know?” Yelena asked. Natasha sighed, nodding her head.
“Yeah, she asked Maria but she didn’t give her a yes or now,” You were smart, maybe a little too smart. “But I haven’t told her.”
“Are you going to?”
“Do we know how they found her?” Natasha deflected. She didn’t have an answer to Yelena’s question. Clint nodded.
“Her adoptive father got into some gambling debts,” he said. “Ripped off the wrong people.”
“But why go after her?” Yelena questioned. “Why do they want her alive?” Now Natasha knew that answer. She pinched the bridge of her nose.
“Her biological father is the Winter Soldier,” she told them. “That is why they are after her. If she falls into the wrong hands, she could be an unstoppable weapon.”
*
You couldn’t sleep. Every time you close your eyes, you saw the metal man with a gun and your parents dead at your feet. Natasha came into your room to tell you that all three of you would be leaving bright and early and to try to get some sleep. You didn’t respond as she left saying goodnight. So you lay awake, staring up at the ceiling. Finally, you sighed and stood up leaving your small room to venture into the rest of the apartment. The other bedroom was on the opposite side of the apartment but you tried to be quiet as you went through the bare kitchen. In the last drawer you opened, you found what you were looking for. A single deck of cards. You grabbed it and sat down at the dining room table. Game night was common practice that took place with you and your parents almost every night. At a young age, they taught you poker, blackjack, pitch, rummy, and spades. You never left home without a deck of cards as a simple game of poker square or solitaire could calm your racing mind. So, you set up a poker square game. It was a game of strategy, patience, and a little bit of luck unless you could count cards. Another skill your parents taught you. “Couldn’t sleep?” The Black Widow questioned. You didn’t answer, glancing up at the redhead as she got two bottles of water and sat across from you. “What are you playing?”
“Poker,” you answered.
“Poker? Aren’t you a little young to know how to play poker?” You rolled your eyes. It was the same thing said to you by every adult when they found out you could play.
“Poker isn’t just a way to gamble all the money in your pocket,” you didn’t look away from the cards. “It can teach you emotional stability in changing situations, to think analytically, and how to read people. But also how to be deceptive, you have to make everyone believe you have something in your hand when in reality you have something else,” Finally, you looked up at the Black Widow. “You’d be good at it. Your poker face is shit though.”
“Excuse me?”
“You know I thought about you all the time,” you went back to your game. “It kept me up some nights questioning why my mother gave me up. Maybe I wasn’t good enough or a mistake or she didn’t love me,” a glance up and you saw everything you needed in her eyes. They softened as her other facial features stayed stoic.
“Not your mom, kid,” she lied.
“From an emotional standpoint, sure, you aren’t. But biologically, I know I share your DNA,” you flipped the last card, placing it in the final spot. Taking a moment to look over how you did, you gathered up the cards again. “Shit poker face remember. It’s all in your eyes, they give too much away,” you shuffled the cards and began to play again. “Not that it’s a bad thing,” you added quickly, not wanting to offend the woman sitting across from you. “Just surprising,” you took a sip of water she gave you. “Can I ask you something?”
“Go for it,” she said. “You can ask but that doesn’t mean I’ll answer.” Her smirk mirrored your own.
“Say we don’t share any biological relation, why would the Avengers come and save me?” You began to play again. “I'm nobody,” you said. “It would probably cost less to have them kill me,” you saw her flinch slightly at your blunt comment.
“You're not the only one he’s after,” you looked up at her.
“Why?” You questioned.
“I don’t know,” she answered. You hummed, nodding your head.
“First time you were honest with me,” you cleaned up the cards. “Goodnight, Natasha,” you took the cards and the water bottle.
“Night, kid,” her voice followed you to the room. When the door closed, you rested your back against it. Your poker face was failing. You felt the cracks. Letting out a shaky breath, you pulled back the covers and climbed in. You were surprised at how quickly you fell asleep.
*
Norway was beautiful. It was your first time leaving the country. You sat in the backseat of the white car with Maria in the passenger seat and Natasha was driving. You stayed quiet, playing with the charm around your neck. It was a turtle dove, a  Christmas gift from Agent Cruise, who had a matching charm. You wondered if he was okay. Maria tried to make conversation asking about your likes and dislikes. You kept your answers short. Natasha drove through a dirt road through the woods and when the car emerged you saw a camper in the middle of a clearing. The driver's side window was down and you heard water. There was nothing for miles around. “It’s not much but we’ll stay safe,” Natasha said, parking the car. Maria got out and opened your door for you to get out. The wind caused goosebumps to form on your skin as you followed the couple.
The camper was simple, a couch that faced a small TV and a kitchen. Natasha walked towards the main bedroom, passing a bathroom. When she opened the bedroom door, there was a man fast asleep on top of the bed. The Black Widow hit the man on his foot, who jerked awake. “You're in our bed.”
“I’m..I’m not even under the covers,” he sat up, looking at Maria then you. “You're new. Who are you?” His voice was laced with a British accent.
“I’m not telling you,” you said, not missing the way Natasha smiled at you.
“Did you get everything on my list?” Natasha asked, walking back into the main part of the camper. You sat down on the couch as the three adults stood around the kitchen countertop.
“Got passports, entry visas, and a couple of local driver’s licenses,” he handed the couple a white envelope. “There is a generator outside. It’s petrol-powered and the septic tank will need a flush in a couple of weeks,” he spun around, leaning against the counter. He was looking at you. “You’ll have to haul your rubbish into town. It’s about a 20-minute drive,” he continued. Finally, you couldn’t help but stare at him.
“Can I help you?” You questioned. He smiled.
“No, just looking,” you rolled your eyes.
“Take a picture and it’ll last longer,” you mumbled, standing up and leaving the camper. You followed the sound of running water to a small stream. You sat on the bank and got lost in the water.
*
“She’s a spitfire,” Mason said, turning to face the couple. Maria picked up the envelope on the counter and hit his arm. “Ow, what was that for?” He rubbed the spot that was just hit.
“Leave her alone,” Maria said. “You're lucky I hit you and she didn’t.” Mason rolled his eyes.
“Does she know?’ He questioned. “She must, right?” Natasha walked over to the window and watched you. You were kneeling by the steam’s edge. “I mean it’s like I’m seeing double.” Mason continued.
“She does,” Natasha whispered. “Not sure how she feels about it.”
“Have you asked?” He asked, standing behind her. The Black Widow shook her head.
“She’s been through a lot. I don’t want to add more to it.”
*
The three of you fell into a routine. You slept on the pullout couch while Maria and Natasha were in the main bedroom. By the time the Black Widow was up for her morning run, you were up playing with the deck of cards you brought from the apartment. Maria would cook breakfast and the two Avengers spent the majority of the day doing Avenger duties, trying to help their teammates in any way. While they were doing that, you explored the surrounding woods and walked up and down the creek. When they needed to go into town, you went with them and a movie to end the night. Repeat. Repeat. And repeat. The repetition of the days wasn’t bothering you but the lack of conversation with the Black Widow was driving you insane. Maria was making an effort and you enjoyed talking and playing cards with her. Every time Maria invited Natasha but she would turn her down, coming up with a bullshit excuse. You knew what she was doing. She was building a wall between you and her. It would be fine if you didn’t catch her longing looks at you or hear Maria and Natasha fight one night when they thought you were asleep. Maria called her girlfriend out on her stand-offish behavior and Natasha claimed it was better off this way, it was only temporary.
Temporary. You were only a mission. Once the metal-armed man was dealt with you would go back home. But where was home? The only parents you knew were dead, no one spoke about Agent Cruise, and you were beginning to feel safe with the couple. Even though Natasha’s behavior was upsetting you. You wanted her to acknowledge you so were going to push her buttons.
*
She just got off a meeting with the other Avengers and you heard the last of it as you came back into the camper for some water. The man disappeared. There were no signs of him. Natasha sighed, closing her laptop. You stared at the Black Widow from the kitchen, finished the glass of water, and placed it on the counter. “I want to go home,” you suddenly said. Her head snapped to you, you thought she was going to give herself whiplash. “They said he’s gone so it’s safe for me to go home.”
“And where are you going to go?” She questioned. Your jaw clenched.
“Anywhere is better than here,” you mumbled, ignoring the flash of hurt across Natasha’s face and walking back outside. You heard Natasha behind you.
“You know if you go back to the States he’ll kill you,” you stopped. “That is what he’s waiting for you. He will find you and kill you.”
“Then use me as bait,” you turned to face her. “Have the Avengers stand guard, he’ll come, you’ll play hero, and we’ll go our separate ways.”
“That’s not happening,” her face was hard to read, not even you could read her eyes. She had been practicing. Shit. “Even if I thought that was a good idea, which it isn’t. You aren’t ready,” you heard a car pull up as Maria returned from a quick trip to the store. “You have no idea how to survive in this world. It will chew you up and spit you out.”
“I hate you,” you said, tears swelling in her eyes. You couldn’t help it. Natasha shook her head.
“No, you don’t. Shit poker face. Your eyes give away too much,” repeated the same thing you said to her. “Not that it’s bad, just surprising.”
“Screw you,” you snapped and ran towards the woods, ignoring Maria calling your name.
*
“Do I even want to know what happened?” Maria asked. Natasha put her hands on her hips and looked down at the grass.
“She wants to go home and I told her that as soon as she sets foot into the States he’ll kill her,” she sighed. “She said we could use her as bait and I may have said some other hurtful things.” Natasha heard her girlfriend sigh and walk over to her. With gentle hands, she lifted Natasha’s head to force her to look up. Green eyes stared into warm brown ones.
“Why are you pushing her away, my love?” Maria whispered, gently pushing away a tear. Natasha didn’t realize she was crying.
“This won’t last,” Natasha whispered. “Once she’s safe she’ll go back to a new family and I’ll never see her again. I can’t,” she cleared her throat. “I can’t handle growing close to her and then having her ripped away from me,” Maria brought her into a hug, cradling her head. Natasha felt her fingers run through her hair. Maria’s steady heartbeat helped the Black Widow’s heart calm down. Maria smelt like sandalwood and rain but it reminded Natasha of home. Maria stepped back, keeping her arms wrapped around her.
“But wouldn’t a little pain be worth it so you experience having her now as you’ve always dreamt about,” Maria pushed a piece of hair behind her ear. “Love her now because you have the chance to.” Natasha let out a shaky breath.
“I love you,” the Russian whispered. “I don’t think I could do this without you.” Maria kissed her softly.
“I’m not going anywhere, baby, I’m right here.”
*
“Kid,” you spun around to see the Black Widow behind you. You weren’t surprised she found you on a small rock near the stream’s edge. “You said you want to go home fine but I’m going to train you.”
“Train?” You questioned.
“Yes,” she crossed her arms. “Once word gets out who you are, that man won’t be the only one after you. I was right when I said you won’t survive this world so I’m going to make sure you can. I won’t always be around to save you,” she added on quickly. Her statement made your stomach drop but there was a crack in her pocket face. She was lying.
“Okay,” you whispered, instead of calling her out on it.
“Okay,” Natasha repeated. “Come on, Maria is cooking enchiladas.” You stood up, wiping the dirt off your pants, and followed the Black Widow back to the camper.
*
Training started the following morning. You were up when Natasha went for her run and you joined her. It's been a while since you had to use your full speed to catch up with someone. Natasha was a lot faster than your 5th-grade classmates. After you ran, it was a quick breakfast then strength training and hand-to-hand combat. Maria would stop the two of you for lunch then it was weapon training. That was your favorite. Instead of nightly movies, you spent your time watching fight sequences and going over old mission reports to enhance your battle strategy.
It has hard and back-breaking work but you loved it. It reminded you of when your dad would take you to his poker games and gave you the job of reading his opponents. No one expected a little girl to have a better poker face than a 40-year-old man. Even though Natasha was yelling orders at you, it was the closest you felt to the Black Widow. Was it the healthiest way to bond with the mother that abandoned you? No, but she and Maria were all you had. You liked the proud smile Natasha tried to hide when you did something well or Maria’s gentle hands to help clean the cuts and bruises you received from the day’s training. It was nice, you felt like a family no matter how grueling the training sessions were.
*
“You're holding back,” Natasha said. You were sparing with the Black Widow with Maria off to the side, watching. You were exhausted. The couple already put you through a 5-mile run and intense strength training. Natasha promised this was the last thing for the day if you managed to pin her. Easier said than done. “Come on, kid, push.”
“I’m trying,” you said, putting your hands over your head, trying to get more air in your lungs.
“When you're tired this is how you grow and learn. Now come get me,” you rushed her but Natasha grabbed your arm and threw you back to the ground. You groaned, staring up at the blue sky. “Come on get up. Do you think he’ll or anyone will let you have a break?” You huffed and stood back up. “This is how you survive. You get knocked down 100 times and you keep getting up because if you don’t you will die.” You sighed, wiping the sweat off your forehead. Think and breathe. Think and breathe. It was like a game of poker. You had to make her think you were going to do something then change your attack. Who knew your parents were training you to be an Avenger? Natasha said you were holding back so you weren’t going to. You sighed, bouncing on your toes, and sprinted towards her. She expected it since it was the same move you went for prior but when she went to grab your arm, you grabbed her and twisted it behind her back. She was quick to escape and you jumped back, creating distance between you and her. There was a smile dancing on her lips but you ignored it. You had to focus.
She made the first move and punched with her right but you blocked it with your forearm. You blocked a few of her blows and hit her a few times in the stomach. She stumbled backward and you surged forward. You grabbed one of her arms and the other went behind her neck. You turned into her, sticking your right foot into her leg, and used the momentum to fling her over your body and onto the ground. You put your knee into her chest and stared down at her. You stared at your reflection in her green eyes. You didn’t recognize the look in your blue eyes but you’ve seen it before. The man with the metal arm had the same look in his blue eyes. It scared you, seeing your eyes void of all emotions and mimicking the glare of that man. Your eyes were dark, losing the light that your parents loved so much. They were void of the color so many people envied. You were terrified of yourself.
With shaky legs, you stepped away from Natasha and Maria was already walking over. “That man who's after me, what’s his name?” You asked, trying to keep your voice from shaking. Natasha stood up and the couple had a silent conversation with one another.
“He’s called the Winter Soldier,” Maria said. “HYDRA’s deadliest assassin.” You recognized the name HYDRA, a name said in passing at one of your dad’s poker games. You looked at Natasha.
“Who is he to me?” You questioned. Her jaw clenched. “Tell me!” You demanded.
“He’s your father,” she said simply. You weren’t sure if it made it worse or better. “The Red Room decided to work along with HYDRA to create the perfect weapon,” there was a deep sadness edged in every one of her words. She looked away from you and towards the woods. Your stomach turned. You were a product of a forced relationship.
“Does he know?” Natasha shrugged.
“I don’t know,” her voice shook. “They did this horrible thing to reset him and wipe his memory. I don’t even think he remembers me,” Maria gently took her girlfriend’s hand in hers. You felt cold all of a sudden. Every one of the weird quirks that made you different now had an explanation.
“Uh okay,” you nodded your head. “I need a minute.” You turned around and walked into the camper, making a beeline for the bathroom and closing the door behind you. Your hands shook as you turned on the water and splashed water on your face. You tried to regulate your breathing; in for 5, out for 5, in for 5, and out for 5 but it wasn’t helping. Bile was rising in your throat. Did Natasha have a choice? Did they have a relationship together or was it forced? You closed the toilet seat and you sat down, your legs finally gave out.
HYDRA was a name whispered once or twice at your dad’s poker game. Your parents must have known who your biological parents were. Did they care? Did they realize the mistake they made before it was too late? You sighed, biting down on a towel and letting out a scream. You hoped the towel would muffle it.
*
Maria found you sitting on the couch with one of Natasha’s pistols and a timer. Like playing poker or another card game, you found that dismantling a gun and putting it back together calmed your racing mind. You glanced at the agent. “Where’s Nat?” You asked.
“Ran to the store,” you nodded. Maria sat down next to you, taking the gun from your hands. “Maybe we should talk instead of playing with a gun.”
“There is nothing to talk about,” you stared at the TV. “I mean I find out my biological mother is an Avenger and my father is a feared assassin who is trying to kill me,” you felt your throat burn as tears threatened to escape. “My adoptive parents are dead and I’m pretty sure they were the reason he found me,” you folded your hands together, squeezing them. “I finally have answers to so many questions but now I don’t want them because I feel so alone,” you sighed, angrily whipping your face. “But I’m so fucking fine.”
“Language,” she gasped. You looked at the woman and laughed at the teasing smile on her face. “I want to show you something,” she stood up and grabbed a small box next to the TV. She handed it to you. “It was part of the arrangement,” you opened the box and saw pictures of you at all stages of your life. “Natasha agreed to give you up in return she got pictures of you and was notified if you were in trouble.” Maria sighed, picking up one of the pictures. “I know it’s very hard to see but she loves you very much even if she doesn’t say it,” you closed the box, whipping away a tear that fell. “And you aren’t alone. You have us.”
“But when the mission is over, what happens to me then?” You asked.
“What do you want?” You weren’t expecting the question, not thinking you had a choice in the matter.
“I know what I want,” you answered. “But I don’t think I can have it.”
*
Natasha didn’t join you and Maria for dinner. She was outside, drinking from a bottle of vodka when you joined her. The only light was from the stars and the small camping light. You sat down next to her on the top of the picnic table. “Are you hungry?” You asked. “I can go get you something.” She smiled.
“Not hungry, kid, but thank you.” You nodded, watching her take another sip from the bottle.
“I’m sorry,” you told her, looking up at the stars so you couldn’t see her face. “This probably hasn’t been easy for you since I’m a constant reminder of everything. Plus I know I haven’t made it easy for you.”
“This is not your fault. I should have been honest with you from the beginning. It just,” Natasha sighed. “Hurt too much.” You nodded, that you understood. Silence fell between you and her.
“I asked Maria what was going to happen to me once the Winter Soldier situation was over. She asked what I wanted,” you looked at her. “Do you know what I want?” You asked. She shook her head. “I want to go live with you and Maria and meet the other Avengers.” The shock was evident on her face.
“Why?” She whispered.
“Because you're my mom,” you whispered back. “And I know I’ll be safe as long as I’m with you.” Natasha let out a breathless laugh, shaking her head.
“Your innocence was stolen because of all this,” she whispered, pushing some of your red hair behind your ear. “I will send out an army to find you even in the middle of the darkest nights. I will rescue you,” she whipped away a few of your tears that fell. You didn’t realize you were crying. “There is no distance that cannot be covered. I’ll be your shelter and armor. There was never a moment you were forgotten or I wasn’t thinking about you.”
“I can’t,” your voice shook. “I can’t lose any more people in my life. I think it will break me.” She pulled you into a hug and something inside you snapped. You cried. You finally cried against her.
“Sh, dorogoy (sweetheart),” Natasha whispered, rubbing soothing circles on your back. “I’m right here. I won’t go anywhere.” You heard the camper door open but you didn’t move from the Black Widow’s arms. You felt the table move as Maria sat down on your other side. Without looking you intertwined your fingers with Maria. She squeezed your hand. “We won’t leave you. We are right here.” You nodded your head against Natasha. You so wanted to believe them but there was a theme of people coming into your life and leaving. Maybe you were the problem.
“Come on, sweetheart,” Maria whispered. “Let’s go to bed. We have a long day tomorrow.” You nodded, removing yourself from Natasha. ‘Along the day,’ you thought, ‘It’s been the longest few weeks of your life. What’s one more long day?’

Natasha and Maria had been living together in the high mountains for 4 years now. They had retired from being an Avenger and S.H.E.I.L.D agent. The snow was a constant in their lives, covering the mountain top and providing a peaceful blanket of white to keep away prying eyes. With only the two of them, they had to rely on each other to survive and provide for the essentials of life.
Maria was the hunter and would take long trips away from the cabin on snow-frosted days to collect food and the fruit that would grow on the mountain. She had become a master of hauling her heavy gear which included a bow & arrow and sometimes throwing knives, and finding the food they needed to survive. While Maria was away, Natasha kept busy. She would chop the wood they used for their fire with a handcrafted axe that she had made in the past winter with the metal Maria had found just laying in the snow covered ground a mile away from their cabin. Slicing through the thick trunk of a nearby tree, several logs would be put away to dry for the coming winter and to be burned during the long, cold nights.
At the end of each day, both of them would collapse into their large cabin and lounge in front of the fire in the soft light of the fireplace. They would sip either vodka or scotch, depending on their mood, and talk until the sun disappeared behind the mountains. The years had not been easy, but they glowed with a warm, satisfied feeling as they reflected on all they had accomplished together. While the snow may never stop coming, they could still enjoy the moments they had together, taking a moment to just relax and appreciate life.
However everything changed when a snow storm hit. The morning after the snow storm Maria had left to go collect food again. She was following a deer trail with her bow and arrows ready when she heard loud coughing coming a few feet away. She stopped in her tracks before putting her bow and arrow away. She walked over to the tree that the sound was coming from. She had walked around it and froze when she saw a girl laying in the snow with just a long sleeve shirt and ripped up pants. Maria saw blood in the snow causing her to act quickly. She rushed to the girl's side before reaching out for the girl who flinched. "Hey hey it's alright I'm not going to hurt you" Maria muttered out and the girl looked up from behind her hair to see Maria looking down at her.
As the girl looked up at Maria her vision began to blur before she passed out causing Maria to act quickly and roll her over. Before she picked the girl up she heard rustling causing her to look over to see the deer she was following came out from behind a bush. Maria looked down at the girl before sighing. She scooped up the girl before standing up. As she stood up the deer pranced away when it heard the sound of the snow crunching. Maria watched the deer disappear before looking down at the unconscious girl that was in her arms. Maria looked at the girl and realized she was quite beautiful.
When Maria arrived back at the cabin Natasha had just finished chopping the last of the wood up. Natasha looked up and smiled when she heard the snow crunch. Her smile dropped when she saw the girl in Maria's arms. She dropped her axe onto the big tree trunk before rushing over. "What happened is she alive" Natasha asked and Maria looked up at her wife. "Don't know and yes she's alive but she's freezing we need to get her inside and start a fire quickly" Maria said and Natasha nodded before rushing towards the cabin quickly followed by Maria.

Maria had laid the girl on the couch as Natasha was kneeling in front of the fireplace. She watched as the fireplace lit up before standing up and putting another log in it. "Where did you find her" Natasha said as she turned around to see Maria was cleaning up the girl's wounds. "I found her behind a tree while I was following a deer to catch for dinner" Maria said as she put a bandage on the girl's forehead. She stood up and walked into the hallway before coming back out with a fluffy black blanket. She put it over the girl's shivering body and tucked her in. "Who knows how long she's been out there what if she was out there when the snowstorm hit" Natasha said as she sat down on the other side of the couch. "She wasn't covered in snow when I found her so she wasn't out in the storm" Maria said as she joined Natasha. "Poor girl" Natasha muttered as she rested her head on Maria's shoulder. Maria looked over at the girl who subconsciously curled up into the blanket before gripping Natasha's hand.
The two woke up when they heard coughing. They both over to see the girl was completely covered with the blanket. Natasha stood up before removing the blanket from the girl's face causing the girl to whine. Natasha shushed the girl before moving the stray hairs out of her face. She reached over and touched the girl's forehead and felt it burning up. "Ria can you go get a cold towel and some Tylenol" Natasha said and Maria nodded before standing up and walking towards the kitchen. The girls eyes fluttered open before looking up at Natasha. The girl's eye's widened in shock before she bolted up and scooted away from Natasha. "Hey hey it's alright it's okay I'm not going to hurt you you're safe here I promise" Natasha said as she put her hands up slightly. The girl looked around the room before she heard footsteps causing her to look over. The girl looked at Maria who looked back at her. Maria slowly walked over before setting the glass of water down on the wooden table along with the pill. "Tasha are you alright" Maria asked and Natasha nodded before stroking her hand through her hair. "Yeah I just spooked the girl is all" Natasha said as she lowered her hands. Maria looked over to see the girl already looking at her.
"Sorry for scaring you Sweetheart I didn't mean to" Natasha said as she was now sitting on the couch next to the girl. "It's alright" the girl said as she buried herself farther into the cozy blanket. "What's your name Darling" Maria said and the girl peaked out from under the blanket before going back under. "t's Y/N" the girl said causing the two women to smile softly. "Well it's nice to meet you Y/N I'm Maria and this is Natasha" Maria said and Y/N grumbled before curling up into a ball even more. "Are you still cold" Maria asked and Y/N nodded under the blanket. "Come here" Natasha muttered out softly causing Y/N to look out from under the blanket. She saw Natasha's arms open causing her to think before scooting over and falling right next to Natasha completely still under the blanket. Natasha chuckled quietly before looking up at Maria who smiled.
Even though they met in an unusual circumstance their worlds were about to change in a good way of course. Their futures were filled with Happiness, Laughter, Peace, Joy, Friendship and most importantly Love. Fate had brought them together well more like the snowstorm but still. Natasha and Maria knew that Y/N needed them both to protect her and Y/N knew that the two needed her to keep them company even though they would act tough in the future.
