thinking about the beginning of serv.amp ( as per the norm ... ) and came to a really interesting realisation that, in fact, the announcement of kur.o’s return was actually very impersonal when the way is taken into consideration. prior to chapter 5, the only people ku.ro managed to meet were simply tsub.aki and lil.y. after meeting with lily, however, he’s immediately given a social media account that, while is set up and managed by mahi.ru of all people. is actually under a different name completely ....
Tumblr media
now having an sns / social media on ash’s name doesn’t seem like much, but when you take into account that no one else knew where kuro was for about 200+ years. they probably recieved a notification of some sorts alerting them that this account was now both friends with lil.y and mis.ono. for the majority of the cast, including many who spent perhaps even years looking for them ... their only confirmation that ku.ro was both a.) actually okay and b.) now ready to get back into things was a social media notification with no message at all?
this fact gets even worse when you go back to chapter 10 and come to discover that the moment kur.o does decide to reach out to someone else for help, the below has seemed to happen, only to be greeted with an casual ‘oh, well’ from lil.y:

the sullies were more than accustomed to the idea of sacrifices. from repeatedly risking their lives on the battlefield to leaving the only home they ever knew, the sullies had gotten quite familiar with giving things up.
but, nothing would ever prepare them to lose a member of their tight knit family. especially not the eldest daughter.
ronal promised them, just before disappearing behind the curtains of her healers marui, that [y/n] was in safe hands, and thanks to their quick delivery of the girl from where she’d originally been stranded and injured, there was a very big chance that she would not only survive, but be okay.
but, there was also a chance — small, but a chance nonetheless — that she wouldn't be okay. that she wouldn't survive, or even worse, that she would survive and have to live a life burdened.
the image of their dying sister continued to flash through the sully siblings’ minds. her bloodied body flushed up against the wet sand, a low tide barely brushing over her toes every now and again. what made matters worse was the human made knife sticking from her gut.
when would this war end?
neteyam stared at his shaking hands, still covered in [y/n]’s blood. he tried to scrub it off, but the sticky liquid seemed to have flooded into every crevice imaginable. he’d been the one to take charge, the one to immediately apply pressure to the wound while ordering lo’ak to get their parents. kiri was quick to join him, on her knees and making sure that there weren’t any other hidden wounds.
these children — her baby brothers and sister — were brave enough to immediately act, and yet fali couldn’t move. as soon as he saw the sully girl with blood soaked into the sand below, it felt as if his feet were sunken and stuck.
the only thing to bring him back to light was the small hand of tuk.
now, the siblings plus fali stood outside, anxiously awaiting any sign of news. fali was pale, hovering in the back as thoughts of the absolute utter worst circled throughout his brain.
neteyam, kiri, and lo’ak had their own worries, their own anxieties. that was their big sis. if anything happened to her, the sully family was a mess. they would do anything to keep her alive, just as she would do the same for them.
but tuk, oh little tuk, was focused on bigger things. brighter things! somehow, the little ball of energy just knew her sister would be okay. tuk had never met someone stronger than [y/n] ( besides her mother, perhaps, but [y/n] had to learn it from somewhere ), so she had no doubt that her big sister would pull through better than before.
so, she decided the best thing she could do was work her own magic. it's what her sister would want, after all.
once again, fali found himself pulled out of his anxious thoughts by a small hand in his, and then… and then a tear dropped. it was small, practically nonexistent, but he knew. and tuk knew.
but she would never tell.
and then, as if eywa herself had come down with a blessing of her own, jake and neytiri walked out of the marui. they were the only ones originally allowed in after ronal declared her healing finished.
the tension rose at the sight of the adults, fali barely even noticing as his grip tightened around the youngest sully’s hand. tuk fought back a smile at the feeling.
wide eyes stared desperately at the adults, the silence consuming them as they all silently wondered the same thing. is [y/n] going to be okay?
as soon as a smile softly brushed onto the faces of both parents, a relieved breath left each other their mouths, tears threatening to spill as they realized just exactly how terrified they were.
“she is okay,” jake confirmed with a nod, his own eyes growing teary. his baby girl was strong, he knew that, but even seeing her in the slightest bit of pain felt like failure. failure as a parent, as a former olo’eyktan, as a protector. but, she was okay, and she would continue to be okay.
at the words, the siblings didn’t even wait to burst through the marui. even tuk found herself running alongside kiri, letting go of fali’s hand. sure, she loved fali, but nothing would beat the love she had for her big sister.
and so, even though fali found himself alone once again, fali didn't mind walking behind the four of them. he didn’t mind having to wait his turn, having to stand alone in the back as he laughed at each of their reunions and interactions. he didn't mind waiting, because he knew she was waiting for him too.
and eventually, after what felt like a thousand years, he approached the bedside. “[y/n],” he teased with a smile.
“fali,” she replied, energy matching him almost exactly if it weren't for her pure exhaustion.
and then, without another word, fali leaned down and kissed her. she was real, she was okay, and she would always be okay. if not for herself, then for him.

HEY. HEY PLEASE ELABORATE ON BLAINE IN SPRAWL. HEY
Tumblr media
so imagine something for me
Imagine a REALLY big robot, like many many skyscrapers tall, on a desert planet, very very old and grown over, but alive, and it has water and electricity for you for free so long as you keep it alive and happy. You build your society around it and keeping it alive because it is not that hard to do, it just needs someone to pilot it, so someone goes and pilots it (and that door stays shut for two hundred and forty seven years, and we all pretend we’re not worried about that because the electricity still runs), and you get water and crops going (in the desert!) and power and a livable house.
Two hundred and forty seven years later, the power shuts down.
The pilot is dead (you bury her and someone grave-robs years later and she hasn’t rotted at all). The big robot needs another, it can't run without someone in the driver's seat. But it doesn’t want some random guy. It wants its pilot back. It nearly kills the person you send to take that position temporarily because it understands how to work with Its pilot, Its friend, not him. It doesn't understand. You need its pilot.
You cannot perform necromancy, but you can cheat to survive. Thousands of years later society still runs on this infinite renewable energy robo-god, but we have figured out that in order for it to run, the pilot must be willing to give up the rest of their life. The pilot must be capable of handling the neural load of a million-ton synthetic system. And! Most importantly! The pilot must act exactly according to script.
That’s not great PR. Let’s only publicize the noble parts, okay? You could make a religion out of this. You do. It becomes tangled when they realize you can use it to justify some things.
You are now Brain. You’re in the program that trains pilots with your friends, you’ve been a disciple for at least ten of your eighteen years, and you are very good at what you all do! You’re proud of yourself. Even if you don’t become Candidate, the pilot, even if you don’t make it there since there’s only one of those every few hundred years, you’re on track to becoming a Foreteller, one of the actual leaders of society (Candidacy is an important, but ultimately figurehead, position. Pilots don’t legislate, really). You all go through the graduation process to the next class up and receive chips that will allow you to converse directly with the big robot — the Divine, let’s call it by Its title.
And then everyone else in your class seems to hear something you don’t.
Let’s get this clear; you can hear when It says “stop”. You can hear when your trainer says stop. But you don’t have to stop, when you hear it. Your friends will stop when commanded. Something went wrong, with you.
This whole agency and self-determination thing sends you into a spiral and you are determined to keep the fact that you’re 100% your own person to your darn self as long as possible.
(Your friends are fine. They’re not mindless, that’s cruel. Remember: a pilot is a person, but a person acting according to a script. Foretellers, which you will be if you’re lucky, are people acting according to their wills. You are playing dangerous games).
You have to leave. You have to leave a place there is no leaving because everyone chose to be here, everyone knows what’s happening, everyone is fine with it. You have to leave a place where the only way to leave at this point in your journey is to die. You should have left last week. You didn’t know last week.
You, however, are very, very smart. You are a clever, lucky, stubborn brat.
You leave.
It’s a long story. It involves convincing your friends to come with you without getting the deity or your trainers involved. It involves a loooooot of secrecy and quite a bit of learning code, surprisingly. You need to make your friends hear what you hear, which means making their chips work like yours. But you leave, in a mech you had one of your friends hijack for you (he’s useful, even if he’s a little spacey these days, he’s a class above you and having deity in your head 24/7 is a little disorienting, you imagine, and suddenly hanging up the phone a bit more so).
And then you crash.
:/
There’s other cities, aside from yours, that don’t appreciate a military vehicle flying straight into them. You were going to leave the planet, but escaping the sights of a very large robot is very hard, even if you left while it was asleep. It’s not anyone’s fault, it almost worked. So you crash, angry at yourself, and your friends are gone, and you will die, but.
But.
The one who finds you wants what you have. What he wants, he says, is to let everyone hear what you do. What he wants is to carry out what is basically revenge on your behalf. (What he wants is to show the world you had been following a false god. That you don’t need to do any of this, really, he knows the truth, he can show you, you can show everyone. You are dying though. You don’t stick around for the details). All you have to do is give up the thing in your head.
You have yourself a deal. You die. You haunt.

hey so are you telling me everything from season 1-5 happened in 2 YEARS?? ALL OF THAT IN 2 YEARS???? what the fuck actually
GYEAH I FOR SURE AM SAYING THAT. HELP
And y’know if I was lenient and not obsessed with stupid details and hurt/comfort potential, MAYBE I’d go “hm oh well maybe the turtles started their story earlier in life! Or maybe the show runners just wanted a good looking number and five looks best.”
But c’mon. A bit of a stretch to say that the 2k3 ninja turtles started all that bullshit at, say, thirteen years of age, no? Rise Mikey, sure, perhaps. But not these guys.
My theory is they didn’t wanna lose the ‘teenage’ in ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,’ which, if they were around fifteen in 2003, at least Leo would be an adult by 2006, meaning that if they wanted to anchor Fast Forward in a specific time (something you probably wanna do when fucking with time travel), they had to pick a year before 2006. Meaning that we now have another reason to consider Fast Forward somewhat disrespectful to the franchise because it was like “wow guys! Sure were two Busy Busy years huh!” And on one hand they constantly do shit and their life is full of danger and enemies so maybe all of that horrible horrible time could be shoved into two years and that would make for some pretty good angst potential, imagine!
“Mikey, hey, it’s okay! The Shredder’s defeated, we’re legendary across space and time, things will be better now!”
“TWO YEARS, LEO! WE’RE BARELY FUCKING ADULTS! SOMEONE ELSE WILL COME, IT’S HOW OUR LIVES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN! WHAT IF THEY’RE LIKE THIS FOREVER?! what if… what if we just never catch a break again?”
BUT on the other hand it feels, to me, personally, kinda unfair to shove all of it into two years? It feels like.. “let’s shrink all of this drama and trauma and character development into an impossibly short timeframe in the name of keeping the franchise alive.” Just Leo’s absence when he went to get therapy from the Ancient One was said to have lasted several months, and pretty early on we have a Christmas, meaning a year is ending soon, which cuts down our two years to one and maybe a week after Christmas Aliens.
Ah, I’ve pinpointed what frustrates me about this from the storytelling perspective — it makes the characters’ journeys feel too fast in retrospect. While we obviously can’t see every day of the rigorous training with the ninja tribunal, or of Leo’s stay with his crazy old man of a therapist, or the time spent healing at the Jones farm, we assume that it all happens gradually, slowly, that a significant amount of time passes. By shoving Fast Forward so close to all of this previous history, they basically took weight away from all the healing done overtime, from the lessons learned overtime, from the length, trust and weight of April and Casey’s relationship, all of the relationships in fact. And that kinda sucks ass!
A solution to this would’ve maybe been to shove Fast Forward somewhere earlier into the show. It did end up airing before the Ninja Tribunal season, but this wasn’t the original plan (NT season was made to be before this originally, and is now viewed as so, as intended) and they didn’t really try and edit it to happen before the Ninja Tribunal season either, obviously, as evidenced by the FF journal episode mentioning the Ninja Tribunal as though they were already an established and known part of canon. Also, yeeting the turtles into the future and then having them come back and do the Ninja Tribunal season would not have worked at all, it would be so jarring and sorta… a downgrade in danger I feel? Who’s gonna be scared of losing a fight if there’s already an established good future proving that they win, right?
Another solution would’ve been avoiding a set time altogether and just saying they got brought a hundred years into the future. What year is it? [shrug] How old are they? [another shrug] We’re just in the far future bitch. Don’t worry about it lol. That way anyone could bullshit around with the timeline as much as they wanted.
Thank god this show never did anyone’s birthdays as an episode. I think I would explode. [try not to think about how Splinter was never human and so he might not know what birthdays are or how they’re celebrated and so neither do the turtles. It’s not important rn haha]
Sorry for the ramble I am just so abnormal about this now. Because I am so happy for the FF season because we got the Dark Turtles, we got a happy ending for Stockman that I genuinely think he deserves at this point, we got Cody who I think is very fun, just overall so many fun concepts. But also. Fuck, dude! FF and BTTS were both a tad disregarding, a tad disrespectful to the history that came before them.

„Listen, we will blow up L’Manberg this time tomorrow!” Dream yelled out. His voice echoing through the ruin that used to be the Community House. All while he was surrounded by a handful of people decked out in armor brandishing their weapons.
Techno stood close by him. A sick grin on his face while he held his infamous rocket launcher between his hands. No surprise there that he would immediately jump on the idea of blowing up this government, especially after they went out of their way trying to kill him while he was in retirement.
A few people let out shocked gasps or surprised exclamations as Dream announced this. Knowing that Dream was a hundred percent serious with this, as well as Techno. Those two were a dangerous combination. A deadly even.
So when Dream moved his head upwards to look at Y/N who seemed to stoically stare at the happenings and calmly asked “Won’t you join us, Y/N?” Everyone’s worry spiked even more.
Y/N scoffed and slammed the end of the trident they were holding onto the small bit of solid ground they were standing on “You already know my answer, Dream.”
While Techno seemed to be a bit confused for a few seconds he appeared to make the connection. Those two have talked about this beforehand.
The others didn’t seem to understand though.
“Y/N? You are joining them?” Tubbo sounded downright hurt.
In that moment Quackity chimed in as well “You are betraying us?”
The grip on Y/N’s trident strengthened “You bet I will! You guys never treated me like one of yours! All I was good for was to get you better gear or play body guard! Hell, at some point you guys basically imprisoned me only to let me out to train you on how to fight Techno! One of my dear friends! How does this surprise you?”
People were already panicked and scared but this was the disaster scenario. There were only three people on this server known for being amazing fighters and all three of them just banded together to destroy their home and possibly kill them all.
Before anyone could retort Dream clapped loudly in his hands to pull everyone’s attention back on himself “We gave you the warning, that’s all. See you all tomorrow.”
With that Dream used an Ederpearl to flee. Y/N followed him suit, having all of this planned out beforehand. Though this also meant they awkwardly left Techno behind but he should be fine. After all he was the Technoblade and as everybody knew Technoblade never dies.
Once the two were far enough away Dream turned to Y/N “Thanks. I appreciate what you are doing. Wouldn’t want to fight against you.”
Y/N laughed “Neither do I. They already looked so scared with your team up with Techno but after you pulled me in they really looked like sheets of paper. It was… interesting to see. Either way I should be the one thanking you. You are giving me a chance for revenge.”
They continued to move towards a snowy tundra. Dream taking the lead since Y/N has been stuck in L’Manberg in the last few months. They wore netherite armor but it was unenchanted. Given to them by the butcher army after they told them of their plan to kill Dream.
The original plan was that Y/N would join them later and make sure that they will be alright. Playing a bodyguard for them once again. Normally they would have used the given armor and weapons as soon as they got it to flee but Dream has met them before this even happened. Hatching out a plan together so in the end this gear was an added bonus that gave extra protection while they fled with Dream.
“Why are we here?”
“Well we gotta prepare.” Dream answered as if that would answer Y/N’s question sufficiently.
While Y/N didn’t exactly truly trust Dream, mostly due to the fact they trusted no one, they didn’t feel the need to ask him to elaborate and instead continued to follow him dutiful. He had something planned and they had to follow him no matter what.
Where else could they go? Their only home was in L’Manberg even if it was more of a prison.
Dream was an enigma to them. Y/N had fought with the man a few times and it was always incredibly tiring every time which was something new for them.
Both Dream and Techno were physical strong, though Y/N suspected that Techno was a bit stronger simply because of his Piglin side.
Techno was a master at preparing and using everything to his disposal and if he didn’t have it he wasn’t scared to spend a ludicrous amount of time to gather these items. He was like a true juggernaut. People called him the Blood God for a reason after all.
Dream was more versatile. Of course he did plan things beforehand but he was better at acting during the situation. If the situation changed you can bet that he was already three moves ahead and noticed things around him he can use for his advantage. Now combine this with the knowledge he had about the world and he seemed almost unstoppable.
Just like Dream and Techno they too were physical strong which came naturally over the years but they relied more on their speed. Being a master at dodging blows and abusing peoples weak spots before they even realize they had any.
Now that they teamed up Y/N could understand how the people begun to fret. Alone the three were a force to be reckoned with but together it wasn’t hard to imagine that they could level a whole city or a nation in this specific case.
“Here, we arrived.” Dream almost whispered. His porcelain mask hiding his satisfied smile as he spotted Techno talking with Philza inside what looked like a nether wart farm. Probably telling him about what just happened and how Tommy betrayed him.
Philza waved towards the two new arrivals “Hello Dream and Y/N.”
Surprised Techno turned around.
“What? We have to plan this somehow even a little bit. This is a bit bigger than just winging it.” Dream explained.
Techno stepped out of the farm and dug his finger into Dream’s shoulder “I have a bone to pick with you two.” He made sure to throw his frown towards Y/N as well as he said that “You just left me! You left me alone surrounded by like thirty people!”
Dream slowly pushed Techno’s hand away from him “And yet here you stand alive and well.”
“No thanks to you!”
“Boy, am I glad to finally meet my old friend Technoblade after being imprisoned inside my own home.” Y/N interjected, already having heard enough of their bickering.
Philza sharply sucked in some air “Yeah, I know what that feels like.”
Techno sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose “Don’t get me even started on you. They started a government right in front of us, you helped me build the Wither’s that destroyed them and yet you still stayed.”
“Oh, Techno you know very well what happened! They managed to catch me when I made sure to keep them off your back as you fled! Besides it gave me time to find out more about their structure and what was happening! I couldn’t know we wouldn’t need it in the end since Dream himself appeared to join our cause in this instance!”
Dream was calm and collected before but now he seemed almost apalled that Y/N would throw such an accusation against him “What?! Now it’s my fault?!”
Phil made his way towards the arguing warriors and made sure to stand in between them, they wouldn’t fight, not yet at least, the fight wasn’t heated enough for that but he needed to get their attention off each other “Okay, I think that is enough. You only have so much time to plan Doomsday.”
“You are right Phil, of course. Well then I have to show both Dream and Y/N something.” Techno seemed to have calmed down and made his way towards his home. Dream followed him and Y/N was about to follow him as well but Philza stopped them by laying his hand on their shoulder.
“Are you okay? You basically have been locked up by the L’Manbergians longer than me”
Y/N smiled softly “Besides missing my old gear? I am alright. Really. But thanks for asking.”
This seemed to be answer enough since he let his hand fall back to his side and instead concentrated on Techno who came running out of his house again with a button in his hand. Dream closely following and confused. Y/N assumed he was confused by his body language but it was hard to tell with his mask.
“Please follow me.”
So the group did as he ran around the corner towards a mountain range. All the while complaining to Chat, the voices in his head, that they had wants for completely unrelated things.
He placed the button down and pressed it. With the loud sounds of pistons moving a flat stone wall begun retracting giving away to a room with wither skulls on the back of the room. Soul Sand structures decorating the room as well as  a few chests and what looked like the start of a netherite armor set.
“What!?” Dream exclaimed in his typical fashion running into the hidden place to get a better look at the Wither skulls.
While Y/N was certainly impressed by this something felt off about this. Technically those were a ton of Wither skulls since they are incredibly hard to get by but it didn’t feel enough for Techno but Y/N chose to hold their thoughts to themself.
“As you can see we have enough for a few Withers and combined with, you mentioned raining down TnT?”
“Yeah, Yeah I did. A machine that will literally rain down TnT on the nation.”
“Yeah, combined with that and our fighting power we shouldn’t have a problem destroying L’Manberg.”
Y/N stretched “Okay, we got the gist of the plan I guess but I want a proper one. How will this go down exactly?”
The next day Y/N woke up early. More out of habit than need. They put on their freshly enchanted netherite armor and grabbed their new weapons as well. A netherite sword, crossbow and trident. Techno was already up, probably way before them. He was meticulous when it comes to preparing for fights after all.
As Y/N climbed down the ladder to get to the main level of Techno’s house they found him looking through a chest.
“Morning Techno and thanks for the makeshift bed and letting me sleep over.”
“Seeing as you are currently homeless I didn’t really have a choice and besides it makes it easier to meet up. Even though mister green Teletubby thought otherwise.” He grumbled “By the way there are some baked potatoes inside the furnace. Feel free to grab some.”
Y/N nodded and moved towards the furnace grabbing their breakfast. Potatoes, how typical.
The next few hours was spent by Techno, Philza and Y/N brewing potions as well as warming up. They got into their armor and made sure all of their equipment was working.
Now imagine their surprise while all of them were deep in their preparations and Dream appeared a good hour or so too early.
“Dream? Already here?” Y/N asked him.
He laughed “What? Already sick of me? I’m joking but there is a small change in plans. Let’s get going. Now.”
In the last part the tone in his voice changed from happy to serious which gave Y/N a bit of whiplash with how fast he could apparently change his emotions.
Technoblade pivoted his head to the side “Why already? Did something happen?”
Thankfully Dream shook his head “No, but let’s catch them off guard. If we go now they will surely be surprised.”
“Huh. He has a point.” Philza noted.
So the small group, they begun calling themselves Team Doomsday, started making their way towards L’Manberg but not without first getting Techno’s Hound Army. It was a bit stressful to get through the Nether with them but in the end they managed to reach the Community Nether Portal which led them close to the nation.
“I’m getting ready for the TnT, you all three get into the city and begin doing your thing. Techno as soon as you give me the signal I will spawn Withers and start the machine.” Dream ranted off resulting in Y/N rolling their eyes.
“Dream we were there when we planned this all.”
“Right.” And with that he vanished.
Technoblade turned to Philza “And you stay out of danger. Just spawn some Withers and by Ender stay out of danger. Call for us if anyone gets too close to you.”
This was Philza’s time to roll his eyes “Mate, I know. I’ll be fine!”
He most likely would. Philza was some apparently immortal being after all that still somehow only had one life. It was confusing but Y/N didn’t want to ask since Philza himself seemed to be very secretive about his nature.
With that Philza made sure to stay far away from Techno and Y/N. Still watching them but from a safe distance, holding onto the bag with the extra Wither skulls from Techno.
Together Y/N and Techno ran into the city with the wolves. As soon as Techno spotted Tubbo he immediately ordered his hounds to attack but didn’t attack himself immediately. He needed Tubbo to call the others so this thing could really start. After all, all of them had to get what’s due for them.
And indeed it didn’t take long for Quackity and the others to appear.
“Shit, it’s both Y/N and Techno!”
“Where is Dream!”
“No, idea!”
“We are so fucked!”
The people were scrambling, trying to protect their home but every time they got too close to Techno or Y/N the hounds would throw themselves at them. It was almost ironic how when Sapnap appeared the fight really begun.
“Techno I’ll deal with the people! I think it’s time for our secret weapon!” Y/N yelled over the chaos as they kicked Quackity away.
Between the L’Manbergian party Sapnap and Punz were definitely the biggest problem but as it looked like Punz barely participated. Sapnap was a definite surprise so Y/N wanted to deal with him if they get the chance. Test their mettle against him and maybe find out what moved him to work against Dream so readily.
“Got you!” Techno answered, showing that he heard them.
He got out his rocket launcher and shot a few rounds into the air, giving Dream and Phil both the sign. When Techno himself also got out some soul sand the others understood what was happening and tried their best to reach the Pig Hybrid.
Unfortunately for them the hound army and Y/N stopped them dead in their track.
Y/N had no problem running from person to person to either deflect their attack or kick them away from Techno as he built his little contraption. Two Withers already begun flying towards the middle of the nation. This broke up the group and a few decided to dedicate their fighting prowess to ensure that the Withers wouldn’t cause too much damage.
To that suddenly red TnT blocks suddenly begun raining down from the sky. A manic laughing Dream standing on top of an obsidian structure.
While the people scrambled to not die to the Withers, the dogs or the explosions, Team Doomsday, minus Phil, saw their chance to properly get into the fights.
Y/N didn’t spend any time waiting and immediately jumped in front of Sapnap’s way brandishing their sword. A smirk on their face.
Sapnap looked determined but worry still managed to crack through his expression. He locked his eyes with theirs and moved in heaving his sword up in order to strike them.
But Y/N stayed calm. They took a step forward and practically flowed around him, dodging his attack as they slammed down the sword at his side. It made contact with his armor but as it slid down the metal it managed to hit an exposed part of his arm.
Hissing Sapnap tried hitting them with a sweeping move towards their direction. Y/N used their sword to redirect his weapons movement away from them.
“Your reaction time is good! Too bad I’m better.” Y/N mused as they went back in to attack him.
They attacked him again, giving him a false sense as he tried to block their incoming attack only for them to move around again and kick him in the back of his knee. His leg buckled and crashed down into the dirt. Without any mercy Y/N kicked him again in his leg using the extra strength they had due to the strength potions.
“Fuck!” Sapnap cried out and put his hand inside a brown bag on his side, getting out an Enderpearl and throwing it away. He soon followed and disappeared as well.
“Oh no! You get back here! I haven’t even had the chance to ask you what the hell you think you are doing!”
But Sapnap didn’t hear them. He was too busy dodging attacks from a Wither.
“Y/N!” It was Phil calling out to them. As Y/N looked to where his voice came from they noticed both Ponk and Quackity coming closer to him. They knew he probably could deal with them but still. He was on his last life after all. Extra caution was warranted.
Y/N angled their own Enderpearl towards the blonde brit. Originally planned to be used to follow Sapnap but Phil was more important right now.
The wind got knocked out of their lungs as they landed in front of Phil. The sound of metal hitting each other rung out. A sword hitting Y/N’s armored back.
For a second Phil looked surprised only to jump back to his serious expression as he managed to see Y/N’s smile. He immediately got out a splash potion and threw it at himself and Y/N. They immediately noticed their strength returning. A healing potion. He got another one which seemed to be a strength potion, prolonging the effect that was already on them.
Thankful for the small pit stop Y/N turned around while he was busy throwing the strength potions, looking Quackity right in his face.
Quackity looked pretty confident before but now he was white as snow. Ponk put his second hand on the hilt of the sword. His sword was the one that clattered down on Y/N only to get parried by their armor.
“You betrayed us! Y/N! Do you really wanna do this?” Quackity tried to appeal to them.
Y/N sneered “How does this surprise you still? How? How does this not get in your head? You imprisoned me and made me work against my will against one of my only friends? How does this not enter your thick skull?”
They moved their arm up and brought it down on Quackity. It didn’t surprise them that he managed to parry it with his own but Y/N doubled down pressing down on the blade with their own. Effectively locking him into this position.
Obviously Ponk saw his chance and tried attacking Y/N who was preoccupied with the Vice President but Philza was still there. He just had to extend his trident and managed to interlock Ponk’s blade between the forks of his weapons.
“Phil!” Weirdly enough he seemed to be surprised by that.
“You were about to attack me! Don’t sound so shocked!”
Y/N pushed even harder on Quackity, forcing him to take a step back, getting dangerously close to the edge of the crater that the TNT is still in the progress of making.
“You are just as bad as Techno. Just as bad as Dream.” He spat. Still trying to work against Y/N’s strength.
“From what I saw in my time in this L’Manberg I very much prefer that. At least they treat me like a human person and not just as a weapon to be used!”
With that Y/N musted up the rest of their strength and pushed even harder down. Forcing out a yell as they pushed him one last time. Quackity not having enough strength to hold out anymore had to take another step only to find that there was no ground anymore. He slipped and fell down into the crater.
Not wasting any time Y/N spun towards Ponk who was clashing his sword against Philza’s shield. He was a good enough fighter but it still looked pathetic. He was too desperate.
Y/N used the adrenaline of arguing with Quackity to run and throw their whole body into Ponk. Making him stumble and fall down onto the ground.
Pointing their sword at his throat “I’m sorry Ponk. I respect you for standing up to your ideals but here is the end of the road today for you. Maybe next time you will have a better chance.”
His eyes widened and a weak protest left his mouth but Y/N ignored it. Pushing their sword down, killing him. His body dissolving into golden dust. He was returning to his bed and respawning.
Phil looked at his worn out shield “You okay, Y/N?”
They laughed dryly “I should ask you that. I am fine. I am holding my own out here, how are you?”
“I’m luckily good as well. Thanks for helping me, Y/N.”
It was sad to think about how they never got a proper thanks from the L’Manberg people. It was expected that they helped them.
Y/N nodded “Always.”
They wanted to jump back into the fight but suddenly Dream stood next to them. Looking over the crater.
The opposing party was scattered. Now more dealing with injuries than the fights. Only one Wither left flying around. The crater reached bedrock and yet the explosions still rang.
“I think it’s time we go. This nation is done for.” He spoke.
Techno joined the party. He looked like he was doing alright. His armor obviously scratched up but he was doing alright.
“I say we seemed to be successful.” He noted.
Dream put his hand on Y/N’s shoulder “I saw you fight. Did you know that a few people did a wide berth around you? Avoiding you at all cost?”
Y/N raised one of their eyebrows as they stared at Dream’s masked face. His head directed straight ahead as he observed Tommy who helped Tubbo with one of his injuries he acquired when he protected him from one of Techno’s rockets.
A few seconds passed in silence but then he turned his head towards Y/N “They are scared of you. Proof of your strength. Do with that knowledge what you will but I thought I should tell you since it was interesting to watch from above.”
“Let’s get going. If we wait long enough for them to recuperate then we might still have a problem since we are getting low on potions as well.” Techno spoke in a calm voice.
Truly. For Tommy, Tubbo, for all of the people who tried to protect L’Manberg. The team up of Dream, Techno, Philza and Y/N was their biggest nightmare that just came to fruition.
They knew they didn’t have a chance and yet they had to try. Had to try to protect their home like they always did but it was a vain effort. Who would have enough power to fight against warrior gods?

Wildest Dreams.
Imagine it's a couple days before your wedding and your friends start coming in for your last days of freedom. Only you start having second thoughts, old feelings crop up, and you end up having a breakdown.
Tumblr media
Words: 5.1K Warnings: This happens to be an AU with no children and Liz is alive. If a character isn't mentioned, I'm sorry. I had too many characters already.
The Mikaelsons, plus a couple of significant others, are sitting around a fire pit in the backyard of their mansion down in New Orleans after a surprisingly calm family dinner. The only one missing is Rebekah who'd gotten up to answer the door when one of Klaus' minions was dropping off some things inside. But mere seconds later she's returning, a smile gracing her lips as she reads from what appears to be an invitation in her hands.
"You have been cordially invited to witness the celebration of love between Landon Wesley and Y/N Y/L/N," she says as she retakes her seat next to Marcel. "Aw. Our little Y/N grew up so fast."
Elijah, who'd been staring into the fire, suddenly frowns. He sits up a little straighter in his seat. "Y/N is getting married?"
Skimming through the invitation, Rebekah doesn't see her brother's expression. But Klaus, Marcel, Freya, and Keelin do. "Mhm. In two weeks, but she wants me down there a couple days before for a girls thing. She said I could bring whoever I wanted, so Freya and Keelin are coming with."
"Oh. Okay," Keelin huffs. "So I guess we don't get a say in this?"
"Nope. Not at all."
Keelin rolls her eyes, but she's smiling all the while. Freya pats her wife on the back of the hand, chuckling, just as Elijah clears his throat and stands up. "Well if you excuse me, I think I'm going to call it a night."
As Elijah makes his exit, Rebekah finally lifts her head from the invitation. Klaus hides his smirk behind the glass tumbler he's sipping from as everyone else watches Elijah go with their interest piqued.
"Am I the only one who found that weird?" Keelin asks, gesturing towards where Elijah disappeared off to.
Marcel chuckles, shaking his head. "Not at all. Someone please tell me what the deal is there?"
Rebekah sighs. "Y/N holds a special place inside Elijah's heart."
"Dear Y/N is cousin to one Caroline Forbes of Mystic Falls, part of the scooby gang we once loathed." Klaus smirks. "But we never loathed Y/N."
"Not at all." Rebekah now starts to smile. "Y/N was kind, even when her family and friends plotted our deaths. She was the only one whose word we could trust and the only other person who purposely engaged 'lijah in conversation."
"We obviously thought our dear brother had a thing going on with Y/N, but he denied it every time," Klaus says. "It was because she was only seventeen at the time, but it's been years now."
"Y/N is definitely all grown up." Rebekah slowly smirks. "And definitely still asks after Elijah."
Klaus chuckles. "And it appears Elijah still harbors something for our favorite Mystic Falls resident."
"Well damn," Marcel mumbles. "We're so going to this wedding. We haven't had normal people drama in a while."
Keelin raises her glass in salute to Marcel's words. This was definitely going to be an interesting trip.

The Salvatore brothers have given up the Boarding House for the night so you could meet with your girls. Caroline took care of getting food and drinks, and Bonnie and Elena knew it was best to just stay out of Caroline's way. Because as Maid of Honor, Caroline took her duties a little too seriously.
"Can we eat yet?" Bonnie asks, already munching on a breadstick. "What are we even waiting for?"
"I'm expecting a few more friends," you say. "They're about five minutes out."
"And which friends are these?" Caroline wonders.
"Rebekah." Caroline immediately groans whereas Bonnie and Elena look uncomfortable. "Don't even give me that look," you tell your cousin. "I made Rebekah promise to be on her best behavior and she did so long as none of you made snide comments towards her. And the other two are Freya and Freya's wife Keelin."
"Freya and Keelin? How come we've never heard of them before?" Elena asks.
"Because Freya is a Mikaelson and her story was really sad," you say. "I didn't think I should tell you when I had first found out." All three girls look at you and you sigh, locking your phone and shoving it into your back pocket. "So long story short, Freya is the eldest Mikaelson. She was taken hostage by her aunt, forced to live for one year and then magically sleep for a hundred." Bonnie's eyes widen in shock. "She escaped and sought out her siblings who helped her kill their aunt so she'd finally be free. It took them a while to trust one another, but they eventually did and then Freya met Keelin. I've only spoken to them a handful of times, but they seem like great people. Just give them a chance."
The girls are quiet after learning that, but then Elena can't help but ask, "So is Freya human or..?"
"She's a witch and her wife is a werewolf." The girls all blink in surprise and you sigh. "Please. Just please give me this night and the day of my wedding. I don't need any drama."
Your pleading expression is enough to have the three of them agree and just in time as well. Elena and Caroline alert you and Bonnie that a car is pulling up, and it's not long until Rebekah, Freya, and Keelin and walking right on in.
The tension is obvious when Rebekah says hello to everyone, but the genuine smiles come out when you greet Freya and Keelin for the first time face to face, and then introduce them to Caroline, Bonnie, and Elena. Caroline, having put her best hostess persona, then leads everyone into the dining room.
Caroline and Bonnie are the only two to remain standing as everyone takes their seat, Caroline then dishing out either spaghetti or chicken alfredo while Bonnie serves up the wine. Conversation is a bit stilted, but the moment Bonnie asks Freya a question about magic it's like the flood gates open. You're surprised Freya gives up more of her story so freely and it's like a weight is lifted off your shoulders when Rebekah cracks a joke about how deranged her family is that has everyone laughing.
The food is devoured between the seven of you and by the end of dinner you've finished two bottles of wine. The third wine bottle follows you all into the lounge where more comfortable armchairs are carried in so everyone has a seat of their own after Freya and Keelin take over the loveseat.
"So," Caroline chirps as soon as she's comfortable, "are there any other Mikaelsons we should be expecting?"
Rebekah grins. "Is this your subtle way in trying to figure out if Nik is coming?"
Bonnie and Elena giggle as Caroline scoffs, but everyone sees right through her. Even Freya and Keelin who have no idea of the history between the two blonde vamps. But suddenly Freya stops giggling and leans forward in her seat, looking quite pensive. "Wait. Are you the Caroline that my brother couldn't help but compare every female to? You're that Caroline?"
"Yes. Yes she is," you say and take another sip of your wine.
"Huh. Now I get it." Freya chuckles. "You're cute and feisty, and can apparently keep up with Klaus. I approve." Keelin can't help but nod along as everyone laughs at Caroline's surprised expression.
The surprised expression quickly morphs into smugness, but then Caroline is quick to shake it off. "We're not here to talk about me. We're all here for Y/N. I was just wondering because you know how Damon and Stefan are with Klaus."
You sigh. "Which is why I've talked to them too," you say. "I know everyone has issues with each other, but it's my goddamn wedding and there will be no death threats or neck snapping or so help me I will stake somebody." Your friends and guests are stunned into silence before Keelin snorts, everyone then giving into their laughter quickly after. You too, eventually, and then you groan as you attempt to hide your face in the palms of your hands. "I just- I don't want any issues. I'm already freaking out as it is."
The laughter fades off, sympathetic expressions taking over, and it's Keelin who then leans forward in her seat, reaching for your hand and gripping it in comfort. "It's going to be fine. You have nothing to worry about. If you love- er, uh what's his name?"
"Landon."
"Landon! Yes, Landon," she chuckles. "If you love Landon, you'll be fine." Your smile falters and you don't have to be an onlooker to know that the light in your eyes dims just a little. Your pretty sure everyone's noticed it if the sudden intake of breath is anything to go by. "You do- you do love him, don't you?"
"Yes!" You blurt a little too fast. Your response is a little cringeworthy and you sigh, retaking your hand and slumping in your seat. "I mean we've been together for three years. I love him. I do, but.."
"But he's not 'lijah."
"Rebekah!" Freya is quick to scold.
"What?" The blonde Original shrugs. "You haven't seen them together. You don't understand."
"I'm not one to ever agree with your sister, but she has a point," Elena says. "Y/N and Elijah-"
"But there is no me and Elijah." The girls fall silent at the tone in your voice. "There never was." You retake your glass of wine, chugging the rest of its contents before setting your glass back down. "Now if you guys will excuse me, I need some air."
No one tries to stop you as you go and you end up on the back patio, hopping up onto the brick railing and then leaning your back against the brick pillar. The cold air outside cools your flushed face and you try not to let your mood tumble down the rabbit hole.
You knew inviting the Mikaelsons was bound to bring up the past, but you didn't think it'd affect you quite like it is now. Elijah was, for obvious reasons, a touchy subject with you and your friends knew not to bring him up. But then Rebekah broke the ice and Elena, of all people, just had to agree with her.
"Here. Put this on." You're surprised to see Freya offering you a jacket, but you take it nonetheless and offer her a small smile in thanks. She grins, placing a smoking bowl down on the railing next to her. "Sage," she explains. "It keeps the vampires from hearing."
"God I love magic."
Freya chuckles and then after a moment passes, she says, "I'm sorry about what my sister said in there. They shouldn't bring any of that up so close to your wedding."
You shrug. "It is what it is. And if I'm being honest, she's not totally wrong."
"No?"
You shake your head. "I almost didn't invite Elijah because I knew my stupid crush on him would resurface, but then I thought I'd look like an asshole if I sent out personal invites to everyone else and he saw he didn't receive one." Freya chuckles quietly and you sigh longingly. "And the closer it comes to my wedding, the more I find myself longing for those talks with your brother rather than what Landon has to offer. I miss our talks about history and just life in general," you say. "And the more I listen to Landon talk about the latest Xbox game or the stupid jokes he's heard from his coworkers, it feels like I die a little more every day on the inside."
Freya frowns a little. "I apologize if I'm overstepping, Y/N, but do you honestly love Landon? If you continue to compare him to my brother, you're just setting yourself and Landon up for heartbreak down the line."
"I know. And I love Landon. I do, but I don't think I'm as in love with him as I once thought."
"Y/N.."
The first tear falls and you huff a laugh as you wipe it away. Quietly, you rhetorically ask, "Why couldn't your brother just love me? It'd have made things so much more easier." You're so caught up in your feelings that you don't see Freya tense or her eyes widen in surprise. "I don't even know what I'm saying," you then mumble. "I'm getting married in two days. Maybe I should just lay off the wine until then."
"Uhh, yeah. Maybe." Freya agrees.
You snap out of your spiral then, eyes widening. "Oh my god. I'm so sorry for laying that on you."
"No. Don't be," she laughs. "You needed to vent and I'm glad it was me, an unbiased ear."
"Really?"
"Really. You're fine," Freya assures you. "Now come on. Let's get you inside before we freeze."
As you hop off the railing, heart aching and mind going a mile a minute, you can only hope that your mind clears in time for you to say I do to Landon. It would really be terrible to enter a marriage while longing for someone else.
Tumblr media
The morning of your wedding dawns bright and early, and you immediately know you're in no shape to be getting married. Since Rebekah, Freya, and Keelin have come into Mystic Falls you've put on a brave face for everyone, but now there's no hiding exactly what you're feeling. Because the moment aunt Liz, Caroline, Elena, and Bonnie wake you for your big day with party horns and confetti, you burst into tears.
Immediately the cheerful atmosphere vanishes and the girls are stunned into silence. "I can't do this," you cry. "I can't do this to myself or to Landon. It's not fair to him."
"Oh sweetie." Liz takes a seat next to you on the bed, putting a comforting arm around your shoulders. "What's going on in that pretty head of yours?"
"I'm so sorry, aunt Liz, but I can't- I just can't get married today."
Elena shifts uncomfortably next to the bed. "Y/N, if this is about us bringing up Elijah the other night I'm so sorry."
"No. No, you don't have to be sorry." Sniffling, you wipe at your eyes and look at those in the room. "I will admit to being nervous about seeing Elijah again after only talking about him brought back this stupid crush on him, but the more I thought about it," you trail off, shaking your head. "Can I really marry a human?"
Bonnie frowns. "Y/N, you are a human."
"I know that, Bon, but after everything we've been through.. knowing all that I know, can I actually settle down behind a white picket fence and pray every night that Landon doesn't ever find out about the supernatural? Whether you guys want to admit it or not, Liz and I will always be in danger because of our ties to you guys." Seeing their frowns makes your heart break just a little bit more.
"I don't mean to offend you," you say. "I love you guys alot. But I've put Landon in danger for years now and I can't risk it anymore. Because what happens when he asks for kids? I won't bring a family into our already messy lives."
"Y/N," Caroline murmurs. "The wedding is in nine hours. What are we supposed to do?"
"Compel them to forget or to be okay with the wedding being called off. I don't care. Just please do something."
"What are you going to tell Landon?" Bonnie wonders.
"I'm not sure. If I have to, I'll call in a favor from Klaus. He likes me enough to compel the groom away."
"And the caterers?"
The bedroom door suddenly swings open and Rebekah sighs as she leans against the door jamb. "Don't worry. Us Mikaelsons have a bit of money to throw around. All caterers will be told the wedding is off and to not to mention the money they've already been paid, and Landon's family will find that they're not missing a penny from their bank accounts."
It feels like a weight has been lifted off your chest. "Thank you, Bex. Thank you so much."
"Don't even worry about it," she assures you with a smile. Then pushing off the door jamb, she pastes on a smile and claps her hands once. "Okay. All vampires and witches with me. We've got a wedding to cancel."
Caroline and Bonnie are quick to rush out of the room, but Elena lingers by the bed. When you meet her gaze, she says, "If you need some time, my family's lake house is empty. You're more than welcome to take a week or two for yourself there. We'll give you some space."
"Thank you, 'Lena. Some space and time actually sounds pretty good."
"Well then it's settled," Liz says. "You go freshen up in the bathroom and I'll pack you a bag. We'll grab some groceries while everyone cancels your wedding, and then I'll drive you down to the lake house. Does that sound like a good plan?"
You offer her a faint grin. "Yeah. It does."
The moment Elena leaves the room, it seems like everything is in a fast forward motion. Liz ushers you to the bathroom where you have a good cry in the shower and then as you're getting dressed you have numerous text messages from your friends coming in to tell you how all the compulsion is going. Damon even offers to compel Landon for you, admitting that he never quite liked the human blood bag and he was glad you had come to your senses before you took the guy's last name. That had earned your first chuckle of the morning and even Liz chuckled when you had read her Damon's text.
Liz helps you put the groceries away at the lake house and then makes you promise to call her should you need anything, no matter the time. And only after you've agreed does she finally leave you all alone.
You send off one last text to your group of friends that your phone is going to be off for the time being and then promptly fall asleep in the master bedroom.
When you wake up again, it's only a little past one in the afternoon and you decide to make yourself something to eat. You eat and then settle on the couch for a little tv, only to end up outside on the dock and staring out into the water.
The time your wedding was to take place comes and goes, and you can't help but turn your phone on to see if you have any notifications. The only messages you have are from Caroline who assures you that everything's been taken care of and that she thinks you made the right decision. Hearing confirmation from your cousin eases some of your worries and you don't feel as bad about what you did.
By the time night falls, you're snuggled up on the couch and watching the best horror has to offer in order to keep your mind off any romance for the time being. You're in the middle of watching The Conjuring when there's a knock on the front door, startling a yelp out of you. Cursing your overbearing friends and their need to make sure you're really okay, you pause the movie and get up to see who it is.
Only when you open the front door you're more than a little stunned to find Elijah standing there by the top of the porch steps as he turns to face you. There's a moment where you both drink each other in and then your eyes narrow into a glare whereas Elijah's lips stretch into a smile as he steps closer to you.
"Elijah."
"Hello, Y/N."
The butterflies take flight and your heart beats double. "Not that I'm not happy to see you, but what are you doing here?"
He huffs a quiet laugh. "Someone near and dear to me had to make possibly one of the most difficult decisions in their life this morning. Did you really think I wouldn't come to check up on you?"
You do your best not to swoon, smiling softly at him as you shake your head in amusement and open the door wider as an invite. "You're lucky you've already been invited in otherwise we'd be stuck out on the porch. Come on. Let's go take a seat."
Elijah follows you into the living room after shutting the door behind him and you turn off the movie so you can place all your focus on him. There's a fire going in the fireplace, but you still turn on a few lamps so you can see him properly. And when you turn back around it's to see that Elijah already made himself comfortable smack dab in the middle of the couch.
Grinning, you drop in the spot next to him with one leg curled beneath you and the other hanging off the front of the couch so your foot is planted on the floor. "Hi," you muse.
"Is it too soon to ask you what happened?"
Straight to the point as usual, his question makes you faintly cringe. But before he can take the question back, you decide to tell him. "I'm too involved with the supernatural world, Elijah. What kind of person would I be if I had dragged Landon into the mess that is our lives? He deserves to have a normal and happy life."
"And what about you? Don't you deserve to be normal and happy?"
As he speaks, you notice how his gaze drops to your mouth before quickly darting up and looking elsewhere. You try to play it off but you know your damn heart gives you away immediately when he fights off a smile. "Normal and happy is so overrated," you then manage to say. "After all that I've seen and been through, a normal life would be boring."
Elijah finally allows himself to smile. "Is that the only reason why you wouldn't marry him?"
You tense at his knowing gaze, heart beat tripling as it's your turn to avert your gaze. You'd never been good at confronting your feelings head on, especially with the person said feelings are for. So as the seconds tick on by, you can feel your face flushing. You quietly groan. "Do I really have to say it out loud? It's embarrassing."
"Y/N."
"Elijah," you retort. You manage to hold his gaze for three seconds before you break eye contact and sigh. "It was obvious I had a crush on you back when I was seventeen and apparently it's still obvious now."
"I think it's adorable."
"Of course you do." Against your better judgement you reach out to swat at his arm and your breath hitches as he catches your hand and then maneuvers it so he can press a kiss to the back of your hand. You smile sadly. "It's been you since I was seventeen and I don't think anyone can ever compare to the Elijah Mi-mmph."
Elijah stuns you by pulling you into his lap and quickly maneuvering you so your knees are on either side of his lap, his mouth slotting against yours with such ease. There's a moment where you don't know what exactly to do with your hands, but the second his hands tug on the hem of your shirt, your hands find purchase on his shoulders before sliding up the side of his neck.
It's you who breaks the kiss for some much needed air, but you don't go far because Elijah keeps you close. His hand cups the side of your jaw, but his thumb runs gently under your bottom lip. You nip at his thumb, he grins, and then you groan when your predicament finally settles in. Elijah chuckles as you drop your head to his shoulder, your hands clutching at his sides under his suit jacket.
"What are we even doing?"
"I believe you're finally going after what you truly wanted."
"And you? What about you?" You ask, shifting nervously in his lap as you sit back.
"I am making my move," he says as he tucks a loose strand of hair behind your ear, "before someone else comes in to ask for your hand in marriage." You roll your eyes and he chuckles softly. "Since I made you admit something earlier, I will admit that I too have compared everyone to you. My family knew I held you above all else and they were quick to rub it in my face that you were to wed this evening. And earlier when I got Rebekah's call, I knew this was our chance."
"You're a big 'ol softy, Elijah Mikaelson."
"Only when it comes to you, Y/N Y/L/N."
You can't help but smile at his words, leaning in for a quick kiss. But it's not so quick as Elijah pulls you back in, peppering a few kisses across your mouth and cheeks. You giggle, but then that giggle turns into a groan. "The girls are going to be unbearable."
"Niklaus too, but I'm willing to put up with it as long as I have you by my side." You make a noise and facial expression as if you have to think about it, and Elijah gently squeezes your waist in retaliation which makes your jerk in his hold. "If you're that worried about their reactions, we can go away for a bit until everyone has had enough time to get used to our new situation."
You huff a laugh, but upon seeing Elijah's expression your amusement fades away. "You're serious."
"I am. New Orleans is a bit crowded at the moment and if I remember correctly you've always wanted to see Ireland. So what do you say to a spontaneous vacation with me?"
You blink owlishly at Elijah before your lips stretch into a smile. "Yes!" Your excitement makes him chuckle, but then you're quick to to come down. "My friends won't go for it. They'll continuously ask if I know what I'm doing and want daily updates and everything."
"They won't. And if they do, they'll have Sheriff Forbes to answer to." Your brow furrows in confusion and Elijah smirks. "How do you think I found you all the way out here? I stopped by the Forbes residence and Elizabeth was kind enough to point me in the right direction. It seems we already have one person in our corner."
"Jesus Christ," you huff. "Are we really doing this?"
"Only if you're sure you want to."
You take a moment to think things through, but before that moment can stretch on too long, you say, "Yeah. Let's do this. When do we leave?"
"Whenever you want," he tells you.
"As much as I wanna leave right now, I kind of just want to take you up to bed and get reacquainted with you."
Elijah slowly smiles. "I quite like the way you think, Miss Y/L/N."
"Then what are you waiting for, old man? Take me to bed already."

SIX MONTHS LATER
Freya and Keelin have just gotten home, a stack of mail on the hall table catching Freya's attention. Her siblings are out as usual, wrecking havoc no doubt, so on her way to the kitchen she grabs up the stack to sort through it.
As Keelin goes about grabbing the wine from the fridge and two glasses, Freya starts to filter out the trash from the stack of mail. Only halfway through the stack, one particular envelope catches her eye.
Freya starts to smile. "It seems like Elijah finally broke his silence."
"Oohh," Keelin coos. "What does he have to say? How is Y/N doing? Because last I heard not even the girls in Mystic Falls know."
Freya opens up the envelope, pulling out a picture and a letter. She smiles brightly upon seeing her brother and Y/N smiling under the Northern Lights- which is utterly adorable, in her opinion- and then goes on to read the letter to herself. Her smile slowly falters as her eyes widen in surprise. "No. They didn't," she breathes in awe. She quickly scans the picture again, her eyes lighting up as she laughs joyously. "They did!"
Keelin startles. "What? What did they do?"
Freya drops the letter and quickly flips around the picture for her wife to see. "They got married!"
"WHAT!?" Keelin practically shouts. "Let me see," she says as she hurries around the kitchen island.
Freya openly laughs now. "They got married under the Northern Lights last month. They'll finally be coming home in a couple of weeks."
Keelin grabs the photo so she can study it itself, her smile blossoming. "Oh my god. They really did get married."
"In the letter, Elijah said only Caroline and her mother know. They're going to come here first so they can figure out living arrangements and then they'll go see everyone else."
"Rebekah is going to be so pissed," Keelin muses.
"I can see it now, she's going to force a small ceremony on them when they're settled in."
"As long as I get to see Elijah smile in person as he is in his wedding photo, I'm all for it. Jesus looks at how adorable they look together."
"I know," Freya says. "I don't think my brother could have found anyone better for himself. We had only met Y/N and I immediately knew they'd be perfect for each other."
"Right?" Keelin then huffs. She looks at the picture one last time before setting the picture down. "We need to blow that up and hang it on the wall. Getting married under the Northern Lights was such a neat idea."
"Mhm. So much better than that Christmas themed wedding she originally had planned."
Keelin chuckles. "I thought I was the only one who thought the Christmas theme was tacky."
"Oh no. Rebekah secretly hated it too, but she didn't want to upset Y/N. She will, however, be upset she missed the Northern Lights wedding."
"I mean I'm pretty bummed, but I'm also excited for them to get home so we can pick their brains and get to the bottom of whatever the hell they were thinking. I'm super stoked for them, but I also want to know who proposed to who and everything!"
"Same here." Freya turns towards her wife, wrapping her arms around her waist while Keelin settles her arms around Freya's neck. "But until then we got family to inform of the couple's new status. Not it!"
"Not i- dammit!" Keelin pouts, she now having to be the one to inform Klaus and Rebekah. "I hate it when you do that."
Freya laughs. "Better luck next time. Now let's go. I can't wait to see their reactions."

Her Majesty's Men 5 | Mason Mount
Word Count: 1,173
Warnings: the dance and the return of @bluemoonstonesy
- - -
You didn’t know what you were doing here. One minute, you were walking into an obscure pub and the next, you were following a hen party down the hidden stairwell where Her Majesty’s Men were performing.
You ordered a couple shots from the bar, taking in the girl serving you the drinks. She was pretty and personable, putting you at ease as she set the shots down in front of you. “First time?”
“Uh, yeah. Any advice?”
“Look but don’t touch. You touch and they'll bring you up onstage, and something tells me that would be your nightmare.”
“How did you know?”
She shrugs, throwing up an index finger as she tends to a girl wearing a ‘Finally Legal!’ sash and tiara. “I got good at reading people. My family owns this place; I’ve been working here for as long as I can remember.” She looks like she’s about to say more, but a voice cuts through the music.
“All right, all right, all right.”
Your head whips around so fast you’re pretty sure you gave yourself whiplash. When you realize it’s just the frontman, you turn back to the bar. The girl’s frozen, a look on her face that tells you this guy means more to her than anything else going on in the room right now. “That your boyfriend?” You ask without thinking, the alcohol fueling your words.
“Huh?” She chuckles, ducking her head. “Something like that. How did you-?”
“You’re not the only one who can read people.” You drain your drink, sliding the glass on the bar back to her. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve gotta go watch people lose their minds for my baby brother.”
With that, you get up and walk to the back of the room, out of sight from Mason - god forbid, Declan. Of course, the first person to dance is Declan, going by the ridiculous nickname Mason had started calling him when the two were at Chelsea together. You watched through your fingers as Declan sauntered out with some other guy, both dressed in cowboy outfits. They did a whole dueling skit that ended with Declan winning and tearing off his clothes as Big & Rich’s Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy) started to play and the ladies went wild.
“Hey,” came Mason’s voice over the song, and you turned to find the boy smiling at you.
“Hey, Mase.” You gave him a tight-lipped smile, tamping down the butterflies that were threatening to take flight in your stomach.
“Come down to see me dance, eh?” He jokes, making you crack a smile. “Don’t worry - I’m up next.”
“Honestly? I was hoping this was all a joke.”
Mason strugs. “Well, it is pretty funny.”
“Ha. Ha.” You retort sarcastically, crossing your arms and rolling your eyes. “Any other circumstance and I’d be in the front row, throwing myself at any one of you.”
“Oh, really?” Mason gives you a look that you feel down to your toes, but you willed your brain to ignore it. “How much would you tip me if I gave you a lapdance?”
You let out a laugh - a real, genuine laugh. “Mm, ten pence, maybe? Twenty if you’re actually good...”
Mason looks you up and down, smirking when his eyes finally meet yours. “I can guarantee it’d be the best ten pence you ever spent…”
Shivers run down your spine at the timbre of his voice and for a moment, it’s just you and him in this crowded room. As soon as the moment starts, it ends, the cheers from the women as Declan finishes his performance.
“Gotta go make sure the birds don’t eat him alive,” Mason jokes, giving you another grin.
He starts to walk away but you grab his arm, needing to say one final thing. “You better take care of him, Mase. I’m serious.”
“I will, Angel.” The nickname makes your breath hitch. “Which means I’ve gotta go and make sure he’s all right, okay?”
You’re mute, nodding as you watch him walk away. You wish you’d said something else, but you remind yourself what Mase is to Declan and you try to feel relief that you didn’t do something stupid like kiss your little brother’s best friend.
There was a lull in the performance while the stage got set up for the next act. You thought about going back to the bar, but the girl looked overwhelmed while somehow managing to serve everyone in an efficient manner that blew your mind. You were so engrossed in her that you didn’t even realize the same guy from before - the bartender’s boyfriend - is back up onstage, until you hear his voice.
“This next performer who’s coming out… he’s one of a kind, ladies. I met this boy back in my Academy days and I knew - I knew I had to bring him in and have his talents be shown to the universe. Tonight he’s gonna be right here on this stage just for you. The star of the show, Mister Money Mase!”
Your stomach dips in anticipation as Mason appears wearing a snapback, wifebeater, sweats and trainers, the look doing something to you that you didn’t even think was possible. The opening vocals to Pony by Ginuwine have you thinking thoughts you’d never have outside the bedroom - thoughts starring the one and only man who’s onstage right now making every woman, including you, swoon.
He moved in ways you’d never seen him move before. His body was a perfectly-sculpted machine, and your body responded in ways you wished it didn’t. You’d seen him play on a pitch before, but seeing him dance on a stage with hundreds of screaming women packed in an underground club did things to you that you couldn’t explain. The last time you’d seen him, Mason and Dec had been eighteen, Mason’s scrawny body not even a blip on your radar because you’d been too busy analysing your brother’s game. Now, he was four years older, his body cut in ways you’d never imagined, and it was turning you on.
Mason looked out into the crowd and you swore you saw his face land on you as he swiveled his hips, gracefully transitioning to landing on the floor and pumping his hips as though he were pounding into a woman - you, your brain thinks, and you hate how your pussy pulses in response.
He struts out into the crowd and for a moment, you think he’s coming towards you. It would be the worst thing in the world for you to be brought up onstage, but somehow your brain doesn’t care because it would be Mason bringing you up onstage. Mason, who’s now got a girl in his hands, laying her down on the stage as he mimed thrusting into her and the rest of the ladies cheered. When he slipped his sweats off to reveal his bright red thong, you knew you had to get out of there, slipping out of the club the way you came, unable to witness anything more.

Every moment with you-Ukitake Jushiro
Tumblr media
"If I had to be reborn every lifetime it would always be you."
(Your Name) sighs while sitting on the floor packing all her belongings and putting them in boxes to move out the barracks. This was the hardest thing to do, everything they shared and everything Ukitake had were being placed else where. It didn't feel right to her but and she just lost her husband and home.
She felt lifeless as Kyoraku sat across from her and frowned. Of course he was still heart broken by his best friend, his brother death. They were inseparable.
"(Your Name) I know it's hard but I promise you things will get better."
"Better said than done." She answers back but doesn't look him in the eye and folds his captains cloth placing it in a nice decorative box where she put all his special belongings.
"You will be okay out there?" He asks worriedly as she nods her head in response and rubs her red eyes from all the crying.
"I'll check up on you every often." Kyoraku sits himself up and takes one last look of Ukitake and (Your Name) house before looking down and bidding a farewell.
"(Your Name) come here." Ukitake kindly smiles at his wife as she set the hot tea down. Walking towards him he held a brush as she sat in front of him and hummed in delight.
"You know my favorite part of the day is at night and we get to spend quality time together." He says as she hums in response.
"My favorite part is waking up to you." She answers back as he chuckles and ties her hair back in a low bun as she turns towards him.
"I guess your answer is better than mine." He slightly pouts and takes a sip of the tea that was prepared.
(Your Name) curled in bed alone as she cried again they spend hundreds and years together as friends and the love of each other life's. So she asked herself how do you fully heal if you've spend most your life depending on each other.
Ukitake was no longer here, who could she depend on that was like him? His soothing voice and calming nature made her feel secure.
Looking out the window it was a starry night as she moved out to the country side to heal more. Setting up his shrine and everything else it was weird. Never had she been alone like this.
(Your Name) wondered was his soul reborn yet? Was he in Rukongai or the Human World? Either way it would be impossible to find him. There's was millions of soul getting reborn everyday.
"You're sick! I'm not letting you leave this room." (Your Name) yells at Ukitake as he coughs and holds onto his desk for support as she ran to his side and held him up.
"Yes but work comes first." He says softly and sits back down to do unfinished business.
"Honey. You've down enough, maybe it's time you retired? It's only a matter of time and you are only getting older!" She exclaims as he chuckles and swats her away kindly.
"I still look young though."
She rolled her eyes and pouted, Ukitake health was slowly getting worse but it never stopped him from working hard and supporting his squad.
There were times she worried he didn't have long to live because of how severely sick he would get at times but those thoughts she bore were heavy on her heart.
"I'm just scared...what if something bad happens to you?"
Ukitake looks up to her and grabs her hand gently with his and kisses it.
"I'm here right now that's all that matters."
"But what if there comes a time you aren't no more?" She questions as he knits his brows to find words to say.
Ukitake didn't know what to say because he also knew.
"You know I'll always have you and I'll be somewhere better." Although those weren't the words he wanted to say the truth had to be told as she looks down and nods.
"I love you." She whispers and he smiles.
"I love you too."
Waking up the sun peaked up as she groaned and looked towards her side.
"I guess its still a habit. I can imagine you here but you aren't here."
Getting ready for the day she had a unexpected visitor. Well it was expected but he didn't tell her.
"Good morning!" Kyoraku happily says walking into her new place as she smiles back and lets him in.
They both said their prayers to the shine before setting up the table to eat breakfast.
"How are you holding up?"
She wanted to lie but didn't know how to.
"It's okay, I can't say I haven't stop crying and doing old habits but I think being out here is better and getting the fresh air feels nice."
The older man hums in response and stares out to look at the flowers scattered everywhere. "He would have loved it out here."
"I know... that's why I decided to come out here. It's more like 'you've worked hard let's go rest somewhere peaceful now' I know it's time for me to rest also."
Kyoraku smiles and then looks at Ukitake picture.
"He's smiling down at us (Your Name) theres no need to torture yourself no more."
She rolls her eyes playfully and looks at the picture too before grinning. "I know but it's hard."
"I'm not leaving him!" (Your Name) screamed at Kyoraku as Ukitake prayed to Mimihagi as to becoming the right hand of the soul king.
"I promised him you would not die in this war!"
(Your Name) cried as she watched Ukitake sacrifice himself and suffer in pain.
"You knew and didn't tell me, you guys both knew! How could you let me leave him like this." As she cried and  fell on the floor.
Kyoraku grabbed her forcefully as she struggled to get loose and she screamed in pain.
"I'm not letting him leave by himself."
"Don't be selfish (Your Name) you aren't thinking! He's doing this for the sake of Seireitei! He's doing this for everyone! For you!" Kyoraku yells at her as she looks away and cries into his chest.
Glancing back at Ukitake she wasn't sure if he was still physically here.
Wiping her tears she cooled her head and nodded.
Kyoraku left as she signed and laid in bed. She would go back to work when she was fully healed but as of right now she didn't wanna do anything.
Life at this point had no meaning to her if he was gone.
"I promise you I'll get better."
50 years later
It took her a few years after Ukitake death to piece herself back together, during the time she went back to being a shinigami and full filling her duties to protect souls and those she loved.
There had been a disturbance in the world of living so her and few lieutenants were sent down to the world of living to check it out.
"I feel a high reitsu coming from the west." Hisagi says as him and Kira went to check it out.
"I'll check east and Renji will go south." Rangiku tells (Your Name) as she nods and follows north.
It had been many years since she was last down here. It had been during Aizen's battle.
"The human world has changed quite a bit."
After reporting a few suspicious incident to Kyoraku she watched the sunset alone waiting for the others.
A man in his 30s walked by her reading a book, he was smiling peacefully with his hair tied in a low pony and a nice button up.
The white hair tamed.
She gasped slightly as he looked up to her and his eyes widen a bit.
"You can see me?" She asks questioning him.
"I can see you, Ive seen many things since I was a child." Ukitake laughs not fazed a bit from her outfit and sword.
She felt happy tears fall from her eyes as he jumped a bit afraid he had hurt her feelings because she was dead and he wasn't.
"I'm sorry, I'm just so happy. You're alive."
He tilts his head in confusion as she wipes them away.
"My name is (Your Name)." She introduced herself as he kindly bowed
Although she wanted to bring him back he had a different life here and showing them together would only confuse him.
"Your name sounds familiar to me." Ukitake says as she sadly smiled and lied to him. "Maybe it's common around here?"
"No it's pretty unique. I've heard it somewhere." He says but can't seem to connect the clues.
Oh how was the world was cruel to them both at this moment. She would have to remember all the memories of them as his was mixed with confusion and facts.
"Do you believe in rebirth?" She then asks him as he nods his head. She took a deep breath and said the following words Ukitake told her before his death and sacrifice.
"If I had to be reborn every lifetime it would always be you."
Ukitake touches his head as it started to feel a bit dizzy and she held him and he gasps. He knew for sure something about her was familiar but he was getting frustrated not being able to figure it out.
Tears fell from her face as Ukitake eyes were watering. "Why am I crying? My body is doing it on its own."
Ukitake was beyond confused but she wouldn't let him suffer no longer. She knew he was safe and happily healthy living down here and that's all she needed to know.
"I'll wait a few more years for you and then we'll meet up there."
Ukitake looks at her and reached his hand out. He didn't want her to leave this comforting feeling and Ukitake knew he knew her somehow but he can't remember.
Kissing his forehead she took one last glance and disappeared.
"I'll see you then my love. I'll watch over you till it's your time and then we can finally be together again."
Ukitake looks up to the sky as the uncontrollable tears fell from his face and he tried his best to compose himself. He just couldn't as he cried, he felt something from her and he would have to wait.
As much as he wanted the pain to leave, his own heart neglected his mind.
"I'll see you again (Your Name)."
(Authors note: Oo so sad, Ukitake is literally so precious, he didn't deserve death.)

bonjour, how are you ? well a oneshot for levi with a kind and shy cadet s/o, who respect everybody but when she gets mad, she'll answer with sarcasm cuz she's dumbass without being afraid or caring about the punishment(even if it's keith or another chef, no body have the right to treat her like a shit) merçi beaucoup ^^✨
Hi friend :p i’m great and I hope you are as well ! Thank you for the request <3
LEVI ACKERMAN x F!READER
Warnings: cursing, age gap (legal of course)
Season: not specified
-
Becoming apart of the Survey Corps was everything but glamorous. Not that anyone would think that, but things definitely were on the ugly side most of the time. To be a scout required discipline and a huge amount of focus. To lay down your life without a second thought would be hard for just about anyone. For some reason, you found it rather easy.
Not a single person believed when you’d say it wasn’t that complicated. Of course knowing you’re going to die isn’t the most exciting thing to come to terms with, but every scout needs to. When your mind is set like that you only excel from there, and that’s exactly what you did. Many of your peers found you admirable, and only wished they could think they way you do.
Levi Ackerman especially found interest in you. At first to find a girl younger than him was controversial, only to him, and he worried that others would accuse you of trying to climb up in the ranks. Soon everyone knew Levi was not the reason you excelled. Sure he’d help you train and push you to your limits, but your natural inner strength is what has kept you alive.
The two of you never classified your relationship, but it was obvious it was closer than an ordinary friendship. There has been several occasions where a group of cadets have spotted you sneaking out of his office. One time Erwin saw you go in without even knocking, that’s the day he knew Levi Ackerman was definitely whipped.
Many couldn’t imagine how you two even came together. Levi was quiet, and only really spoke when giving orders. Then there was you, the quietest girl that had ever entered the Survey Corps. Nobody was being dramatic when they said to hear you speak was rare. You tried to keep to yourself, getting close to others was a weakness. Then Levi entered your life and screwed up that little plan, and now you were perfectly smitten with the captain.
The relationship, or whatever you’d call it, was kept at a minimum to the eyes of others. The furthest it had gone to give others a clue were the office visits, and the way you’d smile at him in the halls or during training.
Before the two of you became a thing you’d given him a few sarcastic remarks. Initially he saw you as someone who needed remediation, but that soon changed. The man saw so much of himself in you it was ridiculous, and he soon started to understand you. On the occasions you’d been a urchin he realized that you were simply sticking up for yourself.
It shocked many to hear the quiet girl stand up for herself, especially to someone as scary as Levi. Unlike everyone else, you didn’t find him intimidating. In all honestly, you didn’t find any of the commanders, chiefs, or captains worth cowering over. You’d experienced titans break down the wall to your home village and devour people in your late teenage years. A couple of humans were the least of your fears, especially men.
Those sarcastic remarks and dramatic eye rolls is what drew the captain in. Not to mention your strength was something they hadn’t seen in years. Some would go as far to say you were worth a hundred soldiers. The raven-haired man made it his mission to get closer with you. This feeling had never been within Levi, that’s how he knew you were special.
He knew you so well after years of watching you become stronger and more skilled. You may be young but you were better than half the soldiers who’d been fighting for a decade longer.
Levi was worried about today, it had been on his mind for weeks. It was time for commander Keith to do his annual checkup. Levi found it rather pointless but it had to be done. The sunkened eyed man always came when he brought a new batch of soldiers. Levi had managed to steer you clear of him year after year, but it still worried him. Keith was a loud and rude man most of the time, and that was your biggest pet peeves. To come face to face with a walking version of the things you hated wouldn’t end well. He knew if the man pushed your buttons in the wrong place you’d have plenty to say.
He spent majority of the day convincing you to train with him away from everyone else. It was his usual solution for this day, to have you separated. As the years went by you started to pick up on it, it’s not like you were dumb. Around the same time every year Levi did this and it started to become obvious and you knew something was happening.
Right now you were trying to take the wooden knife from his hand and pin him down, which was something you hadn’t done since the earlier years. It had been round after round of outsmarting him and throwing him to the ground that you finally spoke your mind, “Levi what’s going on? Everyone is gathered out front and we’re here, I want to get the experience that the others are.” He could see the frustration running through you, and the annoyed on your face expression was prominent.
You didn’t like when Levi took you to do things one on one when everyone else was together. There was a fear of judgment, what if they thought you were getting special treatment? This is what that was to you. Levi was much more skilled than anyone else out there and you were getting to do combat with him, which is unfair in your eyes. “I just wanted to have some alone time with you, is that okay?” The man may have a face that mainly consists of one expression, but you knew he was lying.
He knew you saw right through him once you scoffed. “I’m going to join everyone else, feel free to come with.” There was no stopping you now, even if he tried it’d be more obvious that something was going on. Your eyes scanned the groups of your fellow cadets, and a few you didn’t recognize. Did we get a new group today? You asked yourself.
Before you can really process what’s going on, a bald man with weird eyes is making his way towards you. You recognized his face from past expeditions, but didn’t care enough to remember his name. “Late to meet new fellow cadets?” He asked baffled, a bit dramatic in your opinion. Getting new cadets was nothing special or new, so who cares if you were late? Half of them would be titan food in the next month.
He was quick to talk before letting you answer, but you weren’t sure if you were even going to say anything. For a second you considered just walking away. Someone coming up to you and raising there voice for no reason was enough to irritate anyone. “You’ve been here for years but have never bothered to show up to one of these, maybe you should learn some respect cadet.”
Levi watched from afar with wide eyes. Of course Keith was already talking to you, the man had it out for you. He’s complain that you kept to yourself too much and it was suspicious, and hated that you never showed up to these. Half of that was obviously Levi’s fault. Keith wasn’t aware of that and also wasn’t aware of your relationship with the captain.
Keith’s eyes become staggered when you let out a light snicker, cheeks upturning into a smile. “What the hell is funny?” He asks with his arms crossed, still trying to be intimidating. “The fact that you think i’d ever be afraid of someone like you.” Your words made his mouth fall, no one had ever said something like that to him. He’s pretty much convinced himself at this point that everyone feared him in some way. Then there was you, showing him he was completely wrong.
“You should have some respect!” The man says, stepping closer to you. “So coming up to me without introducing yourself and yelling in my face earns you respect? I don’t know where the fuck you came from, but we say hello first here.” He was down right astonished by you. The smirk on your face made his blood boil, you had zero alarm of him. Before he could come back at you, which he was struggling to think of something, Levi’s hands were on your waist. “Oh well okay, i’m gonna take her away from you now.”
Levi nervously laughs as he pulls you away from Keith. You didn’t want to be around him any longer so Levi taking you away was perfectly fine with you. “What’s that guys deal?” You asked with your lips pushed up and you eyebrows knitted. “As you can tell, he’s not a fan of you.” Well duh, you could tell. You look over Levi’s shoulder to see the man was still looking at you with his same crossed arms. “What a freak,” you mumbled and Levi huffed.
“That freak is pretty important to the scouts, he could have you removed if he really wanted to.” That statement didn’t scare you one bit. Everyone would raise hell if you got taken away, Levi even knew it. “He said I never show up to these, do you know why?” Your brow is quirked and your hand is on you hip, fingers tapping against it. It had become evident that Levi had kept you away from the man, but that seemed to have made things worse over the years.
“I’m sorry,” he said while scratching the back of his head. He knew you had already figured it out by the way you were looking at him. You laughed a bit at his mannerism, the guy really had you isolated from someone like Keith. It’s fine, you just need to understand I can handle myself.” You smile and Levi ruffles your hair. “I’m well aware you can handle yourself. I experienced the (y/n) attitude when you first got here, don’t think I forgot.” You chuckle thinking of the hard times you used to give him.
“Oh you loved it, didn’t you? I mean look at us now.”He rolls his eyes at you and you can’t help but let out another laugh. “Yeah yeah, whatever you brat,” he says playfully, “Just avoid Keith till he leaves. I don’t feel like listening to him complain about you, I may use choice words with him myself.” You scan to make sure no ones looking, Mainly Keith, before you smack a kiss on his cheek. His cheeks heat up at the gesture, which you’d never done in public before. “You sound like an old man, I may use some choice words,” you voice deepens as you restate what he had just said.
Before he can say anything your giving him another kiss on the cheek and walking off, “I want to meet some cadets this year, unlike all the times before this.” He presses his tongue to the inside of his cheek and narrows his eyes at you playfully. You walk off with a smile and wave, getting ready to greet the cadets. This would probably be the only time the new comers heard you speak to them directly.
Levi’s eyes watch you, then they widen when he sees Keith headed straight for you.
Shit, not again.

(More Hospital!AU)
Though Santana calmed down a little after her conversation with Brittany, she realizes that her anger with Kurt doesn’t fade. She doesn’t want to burden Brittany with it, not while she’s still recovering, and the last thing she wants to do is get Mercedes involved, so she bottles it all up. It scares her sometimes—well, all the time—how her emotions tend to eat her alive, and she fears running into Kurt in the hospital. All she can keep thinking is that he just doesn’t get it. There was a time where she’d drop everything to hang out with him, but now she has responsibilities that she just can’t drop...and she doesn’t want to.
Two weeks go by. Brittany is getting stronger every day, she’s hardly taking her Vicodin and she’s really killing it on the crutches. The Pierces get the house and they go back to Boston to pack up, but Santana feels okay that they’re running the house on their own. With the exception of bath time, Brittany has pretty much conquered everything on crutches. She cooks dinner, she cleans up the house and Santana is so grateful for it.
On the first day of the third week, there’s a knock on her office door. When she looks up, she sucks in a breath. It’s Kurt, and she’s still not really sure she’s ready to talk to him. He hurt her feelings, but she won’t do the weepy thing with him.
“Can I come in?” He asks, leaning against the door frame.
“I...yeah, I guess.”
“So...”
“Yeah.”
“Dave told me I was wrong.”
“And do you agree with him?” Santana raises an eyebrow.
“I...I don’t know.”
“So you came here to tell me you don’t know?”
“Yes. No. I honestly don’t know. You’re my best friend, Santana. I miss you.”
“Well I don’t have time for gallivanting in bars. I’ve got three kids, I’ve got an injured wife, I have to help my in laws move into their new house in a week.”
“You make time for Mercedes.” He mumbles.
“What was that?”
“I said you make time for Mercedes.”
“Because Mercedes recognizes that I have different priorities. Do you think the night Britt got hurt, I even thought about calling you to come watch the boys? No. You’ve made no bones about it that kids aren’t your thing.”
“I would have watched your kids.” Kurt defends. “But that doesn’t mean hanging out with you always has to be with them and Brittany.”
“What do you want me to do, Kurt? You don’t just get to pick and choose when you’re a mother.”
“Other mothers leave their kids at home once in a while.”
“Other mothers don’t have an infant son who might have cerebral palsy. Do you know how much of my mind is occupied by making sure Oliver is okay? That I’m not giving him too much attention and neglecting Liam and Max? You know better than anyone that my mind goes a hundred miles a second, now add the worries of motherhood into that equation.”
“I can’t say I get it, Santana. I don’t know what you’re going through.”
“You’re right, you don’t.”
“Then let me know. Half of the news I get about you, I get about Mercedes and another forty-five percent I get from gossiping interns. You don’t even bother to let me in anymore.”
“I...you’re right.”
“I want to be part of your life. I was hurt when you got married and I wasn’t there. I was hurt when you told Mercedes you were pregnant first. I guess I just feel like I don’t matter anymore.”
“Kurt.” Santana takes a breath. “You’re always going to matter to me.”
“I just...I miss you.”
“I miss you too, Kurt. I’d love to spend time with you, I just wish you didn’t hate my kids.”
“I don’t hate your kids at all. I love them, actually. I’m just not...good with them.”
“Just spend time with them. Come over and have dinner with us, without Mercedes, without anything else. I want to spend time with you, I just have..a lot on my plate right now.”
“Okay.” Kurt more. “I can do that.”
After Kurt leaves Santana’s office, she doesn’t feel like everything is resolved, but it’s a start. And maybe Kurt is right, maybe other mothers can take a step away, but it’s just not something she can do. She spends enough of her time away from her kids at work, she can’t imagine not being there for bedtime, she can’t imagine just...leaving them for something else.
The rest of her day is packed with surgeries. She wants it that way. She feels like Lauren Zizes is on her heels and she wants to be the best. Maybe it’s all in her head, maybe Zizes isn’t interested in competition...but they’re surgeons, so she probably is. After she finishes her last set of rounds for the day, she doesn’t even bother to change out of her scrubs. She’ll just go home and take a shower, have dinner with her family and relax.
When she gets to the house, it’s loud. Liam is shouting, the babies are crying and Brittany looks like she’s at the end of her rope. With one arm holding a crutch, the other cradles Max, trying to settle him and Santana immediately feels bad. Maybe she should have taken more time off, maybe she shouldn’t have left Brittany to deal with all of this while she should be healing. But she insisted she would be fine, she insisted that she didn’t need Maribel to come down and help. Still though...
“Hey honey.” Brittany smiles as she walks into the living room, a shock of hair fallen over her face. “You’re home.”
“I’m home and it looks like just in time.”
“Do you want to deal with babies or Liam?”
“I’ve gotta nurse, if you don’t mind handling Liam.”
“Nope, got it.” Brittany hands Max over to Santana and grabs her other crutch before hobbling into the kitchen where Liam sits on the floor screaming.
“Hi Maxie baby.” Santana coos down to him, then lifts Oliver from his seat. “What’s going on with my boys today, huh?”
“I don’t like it!” Liam screams from the kitchen. “Go away, Mama!”
“Li...” Brittany sighs. “I’m sorry we couldn’t go to the park, I really am.”
Santana’s heart breaks just a little at that. She knows Brittany wants to enjoy the kids while she’s home, but obviously, going to the park is just something she physically can’t do. And of course, it’s impossible to reason with a four year old, especially when he’s been cooped up in the house except on the weekends. It’s clear that Brittany is pained by the fact that she can’t do what she used to do and Santana just wonders if she should have taken more time, despite Brittany’s insistence that she shouldn’t.
“It’s not fair! I want to go!”
“Liam. I told you if you had good behavior today, we would see if Mommy could take you, but you didn’t have good behavior.”
“I don’t want you! I want Mommy Noodle!” He tears into the living room and hops up onto the couch, jostling the twins away from nursing and making them start wailing again.
“Liam.” Santana says firmly, hating when she has to and trying to settle Max and Oliver back on her breasts. “This behavior is not nice and you need to say you’re sorry to Mama right now.”
“No! No! No! No!”
“I’m sorry guys.” Santana murmurs down to Max and Oliver, slowly taking them off her and laying them down. They start to cry again and she has no idea if she’s making the right choice, but she needs to take Liam upstairs, needs to have him sit and regroup in his room. “Let’s go, we’re going upstairs.”
Carrying Liam up the stairs and feeling like her breasts are going to explode, Santana looks quickly over her shoulder at Brittany who has settled on the couch and is trying to soothe the little boys. Liam kicks and screams the whole way up and Santana realizes she hasn’t ever seen him like this. She thinks of something one of her patient’s moms had told her years earlier about the “fuck you fours” and she thinks this might be the epitome of that. Once she’s sitting on Liam’s bed with him, he tries to run out of the room, but she stands up and stops him.
“We’re staying here until we calm down.”
“I don’t want to!”
“I understand that, but when you’re not treating Mama nicely and you’re scaring your brothers, you have no choice.”
He screams and cries until he finally throws himself on the bed and collapses in total exhaustion. It’s early for him to go to bed, but Santana thinks that maybe he needs it. She’s sure Brittany has fed him dinner by now and she’ll just get up a little earlier to bathe him in the morning. Breathing in deeply, she goes back downstairs to where Brittany holds the whimpering twins in her arms.
“He’s sleeping.” Santana tells her, lifting up her shirt completely and taking Oliver, then Max to get them all some relief.
“He’s been like this all day. I just feel so...helpless.”
“I know, he never had a fit like that when I was on bed rest, but I know the feeling of being helpless.”
“I’m just ready for this to be healed. There’s ten million things I want to do that I can’t. Take Liam to the park, help my parents pack in Boston, go back to work...” Brittany buries her face in her hands and Santana aches for her. “I’m just...God, this is horrible but I need to get out of this house. I’m about to go back to work and at least sit in my office.”
“Is that what you want to do?”
“Who knows if Sue will even let me?”
“There’s no reason you can’t run your department. You’re all but off painkillers. Even if you just started with some shorter days. It would probably be good for you.”
“You don’t think it’s crazy?”
“I don’t.” Santana shakes her head. “I’d do the same thing. You know I would have, I begged Shelby to let me do anything. I’ll call my mom tonight and you can see if you can set up a meeting with Sue when I go in tomorrow, that way you only have to take a cab one way.”
“You really are the best, I hope you know that.”
After Santana and Brittany eat dinner, the twins finally soothed, Santana calls her mom while Brittany calls Sue. Maribel is understandably not as thrilled about Brittany going back to work, worried about how she’ll be able to rest and recover, but she agrees to come in the morning. Luckily for Brittany, Sue has a meeting open at eight the next morning, so she’ll go in with Santana, see how things go and then work from there.
After the phone calls, they spend some time with just Max and Oliver, laying on the floor and playing with them. Santana is always so carefully observing Oliver, seeing if he’s catching up, but she knows there’s some rigidity to his limbs. Contrary to his she felt before and at his appointment, she’s reconciled in her mind that it will be okay if he needs a little extra help, that she doesn’t love him any less or love herself any less if he has special needs. He’s one of her beautiful, wonderful, perfect boys and she’ll spend her whole life fighting for him to have the very best of everything.
“I talked to Kurt.” Santana murmurs as she picks up both boys to bring them up to bed. “I’m going to put them down for the night and then we’ll talk.”
Santana looks over her shoulder at Brittany settling in on the couch and she walks up the stairs with the boys. They’re both nearly asleep when she gets up there, but once she lays them down in the bassinet, she can’t help but look over them. Max’s fingers are in his mouth and Oliver has his hand over his eyes and she swells with love for them as they settle into their dreams. She thinks of how they’ll grow up always side by side, how Liam will watch over them and is so grateful for this life she has.
She leaves the room and checks on Liam, glad he’s still sleeping, before she heads back downstairs. Brittany is in the big chair and she has her feet up on the ottoman and Santana is so glad to see that she looks much more comfortable than she has in the weeks past. She sinks down onto the couch, close enough so she can touch her, and runs her hands through her hair.
“Long day.” Brittany says. “For both of us.”
“I’m sorry they were such a handful today.”
“It’s okay, Santana. We both know they have those days. But tell me what happened.”
“He came to my office. It was...kind of a lot. I don’t know, I have this weird guilt thing with him, I guess. He said Dave said he was wrong, but I don’t know, I think it’s more complicated than that.”
“What do you mean?”
“I guess it’s like...I don’t know, you become friends with someone when you’re one person and then you go through these evolutions and you’re just not the same anymore, I don’t know.”
“I think...” Brittany takes a breath and Santana thinks she’s really considering her words. “Okay, I think that friendships evolve with you, I don’t know. Like you two have been friends since med school, you getting married and having kids shouldn’t change that.”
“He was really hurt that we got married without telling him and that Mercedes knew I was pregnant first.”
“I can understand that on some level.” Brittany nods. “But he also knows you have anxiety and have to do things your own way.”
“Do you not think I should forgive him?”
“No, I’m not saying that at all. I’m just saying that I don’t want you coming out of this thinking you’re in the wrong.”
“I’m not, I promise. He started about how other mothers leave their kids to go out with their friends and I...just can’t do that, I told him that. We leave them to go to work and once in a blue moon for a date night, but I love being here for bedtime, I don’t know.”
“What did he say to that?”
“He said he’d come over and spend time with us. Also that he doesn’t hate our kids. So that’s a start, right?”
“I think that’s a really good start.”
“It was easy when we were young, you know? We were all single and getting drunk after twelve hour shifts. But that being said, I wouldn’t trade what I have now for being young. I wasn’t happy, not really.”
“I know, honey. Lately, you’ve been less anxious than you have been since I’ve known you. You’ve found your stride and it looks really good on you.”
“For someone who never thought they’d have kids, I sure am into it.”
“And maybe that’s part of what’s going on with Kurt, you were both kind of on the same page about where your life was going to go and you changed your mind. That’s hard.” Brittany reaches over and takes Santana’s hand.
“I guess, I don’t know, Britt, it’s hard.”
“I know, and it’s okay if you want to stop talking about it.”
“I do. Have you decided if you want to go to Boston?”
“I mean, I feel like we should, I just don’t know what kind of help I’m going to be.”
“Your parents understand if you need to relax. I mean, especially if Sue lets you go back to work. You’ll probable be exhausted by the weekend. And when they get here, we’ll go out to Long Island, I’ll unpack with them.”
“Yeah.” Brittany sighs. “I guess it’s still just a thing for me about Liv’s stuff, I want to make sure it’s okay.”
“They’re going to take care of it, it means as much to them as it does to you.”
“No, I know, you’re right. I’ll tell them tomorrow that we’re not going to go. They said they had it under control. Sorry, I’m just...whatever.”
“It’s okay to be like that, it’s a lot.”
“I know my mom told you I never got to grieve. And she’s right. I’ve got a lot of stuff to unpack.”
“You know you can do it with me, right?”
“I know.” She nods. “It’s just still hard for me to process the way she died. And the fact that she’d overcome so much. She wished for a life where she was happy with a family of her own and she was just getting started. She deserved so much more. I don’t know, we’re new at our family thing and it scares me a little.”
“Like it’ll all be taken away?”
“I don’t know, maybe I just don’t feel like I deserve it. I know you go through that sometimes.”
“But you’ve always been the one who tells me I do. And I’m going to tell you the same.”
“I don’t think I ever got to thank you, you know, for letting me name Oliver after her.”
“You don’t have to thank me. I feel like he has a special guardian angel, I don’t know. I don’t normally believe in that stuff.” Santana shakes her head.
“I don’t either, but yeah, I feel that. I just always think about how she would have been so calm about the whole thing.”
“Britt, you’re so calm about the whole thing. You’ve been a rock while I’ve freaked out. But I feel like we’re in a good place with it now.”
“I can tell. We’ve got this, whatever comes along.”
“I know.”
Santana watches TV with Brittany for a little while and then she showers and they go up to bed. Santana is surprised how infrequently the twins wake up throughout the night and she savors the extra sleep. It may be restless, since she’s still not taking her pills, but she sleeps. When she gets up in the morning, she’s surprisingly refreshed and she rolls over, seeing that both boys are up and gurgling contentedly in the bassinet. Brittany is already out of bed, she hears the shower running, and Santana picks both of them up to nurse. While they do, she thinks about how surprised she is that Liam is still sleeping, but she’s glad he’s getting the rest he needs.
Once the babies are fed, she lays them back down and gets dressed. She slips into the bathroom to wash up and brush her teeth, then she carries them into Liam’s room. He’s slowly opening his eyes and a Santana just looks at her oldest son. He’s had a tough day yesterday, but he’s still just the sweetest boy, and she sits down beside him with Max and Oliver in her arms.
“Hi, Mommy Noodle.” He murmurs sleepily, not opening his eyes.
“Hi, Sir.” She smiles, leaning over to kiss him on the head. “How are you feeling this morning?”
“I feel like I’m ready to go to the park. Can you take me?”
“I have to go to work, but Grandma Maribel is coming over and I bet she’d be glad to take you.”
“What about Mama?”
“Mama’s going to come with me to talk to Dr. Sue this morning. But I promise you this, tomorrow is Saturday and I’ll definitely take you to the park then.”
“Hmmm...okay, what about Maxie and Ollie?”
“They’ll come with us. And we’ll see how Mama’s feeling, maybe she can come too.”
Once her promise is made to Liam, Santana brings the three boys downstairs and puts a waffle in the toaster for her oldest. Brittany comes down the stairs, one crutch under her arm, and Santana smiles at her. Brittany looks beautiful, dressed up for her meeting with Sue and a big smile on her face. With everything that went on with her parents and then her leg, Brittany hasn’t worn that smile of hers in too long, so Santana goes over to her and kisses her, just soaking it all in.
Brittany is chatty on the way to the hospital and Santana is so happy to talk to her, she almost doesn’t want to get out of the car. But they get there and Santana kisses her again outside her office and goes to meet her first patient. She knows she has back to back surgeries all day so she won’t be able to check in with Brittany for awhile, but she hopes that things go well with Sue, she hopes her wife can come back to the hospital and feel like she can breathe again.
The day feels like it lasts forever, and when Santana finally gets back to her office at the end of the day, realizing that she hasn’t pumped in six hours and her breasts feel like they’re going to fall off, Brittany is sitting on the couch and smiling at her. She’s so happy to see her wife’s smiling face that she immediately pulls her in for a kiss.
“You’re back?”
“I’m back.” Brittany grins. “Sue said I know my body and if I feel like I can work, I can work. It’ll be a few weeks before I can go back to surgery, but I’ll take just being here and running my team.”
“That’s amazing, Britt. I’m so glad it went well!”
“Are you okay? You keep rubbing your breasts.”
“Yeah, I’m fine, I just haven’t pumped in basically forever. I’d love to wait to get home and just feed the boys, but I feel like I might actually die if I don’t get some milk out of me. Do you mind?”
“Honey, do what you have to do. I checked in with your mom a little while ago and things are all good over there.”
“I’ve gotta be better about this. My milk is going to dry up if I keep waiting so long to pump.” Santana sighs, closing the door and grabbing her breast pump from her bag.
“How do you feel about that?”
“What?”
“Your milk drying up? I mean I know nursing and working full time has been a lot on you.”
“You know...I honestly don’t know. I told myself I was going to do it for a year, especially for Oliver, but finding time to pump just feels like it’s impossible. I know they have to give it to me, but also I can’t exactly stop in the middle of a surgery to do it. I don’t know.”
“Okay. You know that whenever you’re ready to stop, I’m okay with it, right?” Brittany asks, gently touching Santana’s shoulder.
“No, I know. I guess I’m ready to start thinking about it. It feels weird to say that out loud.”
“The boys are doing great, it’s amazing you’ve been able to keep this up this long.”
“Thank you. But seriously, I want to hear all about your day.”
“It was a lot of scheduling stuff, my team really stepped up while I was out, so there were no major fires to put out. And I was able to talk to some of my long term patients who are still here. It felt good, when I was at home, I didn’t feel...useful. I felt like Liam was always mad at me for not being able to do things, I don’t know.”
“I felt like that when I was home too, so I get it.” Santana nods. “But he loves you.”
“No, I know. And I miss all three of the boys today, but it also felt really good to be here.”
“Our second home.”

Hi there! Congratulations on the 100 followers!! I'm really happy for you! If you don't mind, I would like to submit a request ^_^ Could you do the brothers reacting to an MC who is really sympathetic towards them? Like the brothers could tell a sad story or just look down one day and MC starts tearing up and goes over to hug them while spouting words of reassurance to them. Thank you :3
Aww this sounds really cute! Of course I'll do it!
Also, thanks 🥰 I'm so happy happy that this blog has hit such a milestone and I'm really grateful to all of you guys~
Spoiler warnings: Year One spoilers in Lucifer, Beel, Belphie, and Satan's sections, Chapter 32 spoiler in Asmo's section
~
Lucifer:
Really isn't the type to open or talk about any issues he has so it'd take a very long time for MC to get such a moment with him.
When the moment does come, I'd imagine the sad story involving the day he lost Lilith. Maybe one day he's feeling oddly sentimental and wants to tell MC in detail about the day that eventually led to their existence?
His eyes went wide when he realized they were crying thought.
"You..." They sniffled. "You really gave everything you could for your sister till the very end."
When they they flew their arms around him, the demon could only sigh and pat their back.
"I did not tell you that story so you could pity me."
"B-But... you're always giving your all; not just for Lilith then, but for your brothers too. You bear so much responsibility and work so hard... you have so much on your shoulders that no one ever even acknowledges."
"I don't need it to be acknowledged; I just need my brothers to be safe and taken care of." He tried to pull back to look at them, but they tightened their hold on him.
The man sighed and squeezed back, realizing that his words won't really sway them.
It was strange... having someone care about his wellbeing and acknowledge his hardwork. It had been a long time since anyone had done so.
The man just felt odd, a bit uncomfortable, but... appreciated it nonetheless.
Mammon:
Honestly, it was probably after the millionth time his brothers ganged up on him for no reason.
MC had snapped, finally having enough of it all and screamed at them to just stop, to just for once leave Mammon alone.
The second born rushed to their side.
"Oi! It's no big deal--"
Gaaah! He couldn't handle their tears with all of his brothers watching!
He quickly dragged MC to his room. When the door clicked shut, he pulled them into a hug.
"Whaddya doing this for, Human? I'm fine..."
"But they're ALWAYS giving you shit, even for things that aren't your fault... and I hate it."
The tense demon was struggling to figure out just what to say to calm them down.
"Yeah, yeah, I know... but it's better this way, believe me."
"Better than what?" The human pulled away to look up at him.
Oh devil... they'd probably just cry more if he explained, but he honestly felt cornered by the sobbing human.
"I... look, it's just better if they say shit to me instead of to each other, got that?"
Just like he thought, MC's tears started spilling quicker. Panicking, he led them to the couch and pulled them in for a tighter hug.
"You don't need to go crying for me..." He mumbled. "I mean, it's the nothing The Great Mammon can't handle."
He struggled to tell them so, but it meant a lot that they cared about him. The man couldn't say he could think of a single other person who'd shed tears for him.
Honestly made him wanna shield them from those moments for now on though. Whenever his brothers start talking shit, he tried talking over them and finding a reason for MC to leave the room.
He's glad they care about him, but he never wants to see them cry again if he can help it.
Leviathan:
In contrast to Mammon's situation, what probably broke MC with Levi was his own negative talk about himself.
He rushed to his Henry's room to when he had gotten his new game shipped from Akuzon
But when the human turned down his offer to play with him, the Avatar of Envy deflated, muttering about how they probably have a million things they'd rather do than spend time with dirty no-good otaku--
!!!!
They. Were. Touching him!!!
"Please... don't talk about yourself like that anymore." They teared up as they hugged their friend.
The third brother's brain was just short circuiting. He was getting... affection???
Eww, gross... keep doing it
...is what he'd be thinking if they weren't crying!!
"Please... just remember that I know you're better than the things you say about yourself." They told him. "I know you're a kindhearted, smart, and passionate person and I really want you to see that too."
The human got him tearing up too.
"O-okay..." He mumbled.
Satan:
For this brother, the moment would have taken place when Satan told MC how he was born and how he felt that he had to gain knowledge so he could feel worthy of being respected and didn't want to be dismissed as a person just because of how he was born.
It was towards the end of his story when he noticed MC start to cry.
Before he could ask, however, the human launched themselves at the blonde.
"You don't have to do that..." They buried their face in his shoulder. "You have nothing to prove to anyone."
Satan raised an eyebrow at this. He wasn't quite sure what to say. It has been a lot time since anyone tried to comfort him or hug him.
The last hug he recieved was probably from Beel or Asmo when he was a child.
"Satan?"
The man sighed and wrapped his arms around them as well.
"I'm honestly not sure how to respond to that... thank you though."
The fourth brother just felt odd at the human's comfort; it simply wasn't something he was used to nor did he really know how he was expected to react to their care
But... he also had no intention of rejecting it.
Asmodeus:
For Asmo, it was around the time of the Bloody Moon event, the day of voting to be exact.
Asmo was nervous about the contest and was worried about losing to Lucifer.
After watching the demon snap at Luke when the poor boy just wanted to help him, MC pulled the fifth brother aside and gave him a hug.
"It's okay." They told the demon. "I know you're gonna win because you worked so hard for it. Even if you don't though, I'm still right here for you. Always."
The demon teared up a bit and squeezed the human back.
"Awww, Doll!"
The man really appreciated all the support MC had given him throughout this period
And the fact that she cared enough to comfort him while he was at the lowest made him feel so touched.
This is why they're his favorite person; they're always there when he needs them.
Beelzebub:
It was when Beel told them about the day he thought his sister died.
An archer on his Father's side of war was ready to shoot and Beel had to choose whether to protect Lilith or Belphie
Causing his sister to be shot in her wing and fall from the Celestial realm.
When hearing about the guilt he felt from not being able to protect his sister, tears spilled down MC's cheeks
And Beel pulled her in for a hug.
Of course Beel would make this into something he had to comfort them about.
"Hey. It's fine." He rubbed their back.
"No, it's not." The human sniffled. "You've carried this guilt for so much long than I've even been alive... but you shouldn't. It wasn't your fault."
"MC--"
"No." They pulled back to look up at the big demon. "You didn't shoot the arrow nor did you start the war. It was never your fault and... I don't think your sister would be happy if she knew that you blamed yourself for it."
It'll take a lot more to erase hundreds of years of guilt but...
He was really glad that he could talk to them about this.
Most of his brothers weren't good with emotional talks nor could they handle talking about Lilith.
To have someone he could turn to with this topic... it meant everything to him.
He hugged the human close for a while and thanked them for this talk.
Belphegor:
Belphie apologized for... ya know... the Incident™️
MC had learned along the way that he essentially did all of it because he never really healed from his sister's death
And he wanted so desperately for someone to blame.
While Beel blamed himself for Lilith being shot, Belphie blamed himself for her life being put in danger to begin with.
It was his own interest with humans that got her involved with them
But he couldn't handle the weight of those thoughts so he put so much energy into redirecting his self-hatred at humans.
Finding out his sister lived a happy life with the human man she loved after he thought she died, finding out that MC descended from his sister... it was enough for the weight of his actions to truly hit him.
That's why he apologized to MC
And why MC understood it all too well.
The human hugged him close.
"I'm sorry you suffered for so long..." They said softly. "I won't hold any of it against you; I just want you to heal and be happy."
The seventh brother froze. After everything he did to them, they could still say something so kind to them?
...they really did come from his sister.
The demon knew they were different people and he didn't confuse them for Lilith
But he still felt they inherited his sister's kind heart.
Not that he said any of this aloud, of course
But having MC with him, who not only tried to understand him, but even held him close to comfort him from the long standing pain in his heart...
He was just grateful for them.

(My Very Own) Top 20 Sterek Fics
Here is my very own Top 20 Sterek Fics (out of order)
For me, these fanfictions are a “MUST READ NOW!!!” kind of deal. These authors have so much talent, it’s incredible. These stories are just marvelous and deserve LOVE ! So, I decided to share them with you.
I’ve read most of these fics several times and some of them are even my bedside table books (with Harry Potter and the Prisonner of Azcaban and Jane Eyre)
So here we go!
1:  Enemy Lines by @qhuinn -  150k - Explicit - Dystopia - Enemies to friends to lovers - Action/adventure
This is the story of werewolf Derek Hale and human Stiles Stilinski: two people who grew up in the same town but completely different worlds, their realities split by the war between men and wolves.
Years later when Derek returns to Beacon Hills, he does it as Alpha of a military pack on a mission to capture those responsible for the region’s resistance. With his main objective, Sheriff Stilinski, out of sight, he settles for the next best thing: his son, Stiles.
Neither of them suspects they’ll need to trust each other if they want to make it out this alive.
2:  Actions Speak Louder than Words by @isthatbloodonhisshirt - 435k - Explicit - The BEST and slowest burn there is - Spark Stiles/Mute Derek - Friends to Lovers
“I apologize.” The cop finally looked back up at his face, seeming thrilled. “It’s just—it’s been so long. And we finally have you.”
That was a bad word. Not found.
Have.
Stiles wrenched his hand free and took a step back, but before he could even think up a gameplan, he felt a prick in his neck and jerked away, reaching up to slap one hand against it and twisting in the same moment.
One of the others had come up behind him while he hadn’t been paying attention, and his vision began to swim even as his eyes caught sight of the half-empty syringe the guy was holding.
3: Radio Tower by @hyperlittlenori - 130k - Explicit - Dystopia - Hope - Slow Burn/Build
Everything was different. The world he knew was gone. It’d been a long time since he’d started thinking he was probably one of the last humans on earth, that out there the only sentient beings were those that would devour him whole. He wasn’t sure why he continued with the radio broadcasts, continued to talk into nothingness. The only explanation was that there was a spark of hope in him yet that he wasn’t alone. The lonely safety Stiles has built around an old radio tower in the middle of nowhere is about to be broken. Stiles isn’t sure if Derek is a harbinger of chaos or hope at the end of the world.
4:  The Hollow Moon by @thepsychicclam - 180k - Explicit - Fix-It - Memory Loss - Slow Burn/Build
It's the summer after Stiles' first year of college, and he's working a crappy job and dealing with nightmares and anxiety - but he's okay, he swears. He makes it through most days without too much trouble. Then, a certain werewolf comes back into town. Which Stiles doesn't care about, nope, not at all.
After two and a half years, Derek returns to Beacon Hills with his small Pack. Though he tried to move on, something just kept drawing him back to Beacon Hills, he's just not sure what. Now, he figures he can start building something like a life - but he keeps getting distracted by Stiles Stilinski of all people.
5 :  Amor Fati by @alocalband  - 43k - Explicit - Consent is sexy - First Time - Fluff & Angst
When Stiles gets thrown into the bank vault about twenty minutes after him, Derek isn’t even surprised. As it turns out, neither is Stiles.
6 :  (not so) Pure Imagination by theroguesgambit - 33k - Explicit - Shared fantasies - Angst with a happy ending - hotdamn!
"There is a world where whenever someone fantasizes about you, you can physically feel it, but you have no idea who is thinking it about you."
Stiles knows it's wrong, but he's been Fantasizing about Derek and he can't bring himself to stop. Derek doesn't know who's taken an interest in him, but he's enjoying it way more than he probably should.
7: What I Did On My Summer Vacation by grimm - 119k - Explicit - Wolf!Derek - Slow Burn/Build - Friends to Lovers
There's something weird about Beacon Hills that Stiles can't quite put his finger on. The way everyone in town knows his name the day he arrives. The way they insist the melancholic howling that echoes through the forest every night is just a dog. The way his dad denies getting a dog, even though Stiles comes home to find one sprawled across his bed, some big black thing whose eyes gleam red in the right light. The way that massive oak tree out in the woods vibrates under his touch, pulsing with sickly life.
There's something weird going on in this town, and Stiles is determined to get to the bottom of it.
8:  Stand Fast in Your Enchantments by @devildoll - 77k - Explicit - Captivity - Feral!Derek - Angst with a happy ending
"Stiles knew damn well what a pissed-off wolf sounded like, and every hair on the back of his neck was telling him that somewhere in this room was a very pissed-off werewolf." An AU in which Derek is feral, Stiles is magical, and they eat a lot of fast food.
9 :  What Fresh Twilight Bullshit Is This? by @isthatbloodonhisshirt - 196k - Explicit - Soulmate - Slow Burn - Misunderstandings
“I am not Bella!” he insisted, shaking his fist angrily at Jackson, as if he’d been the one to suggest he was. “I am not Bella! I am, like, a Jacob, at least!”
Lydia made a noise of debate from his right and he whipped around to look at her.
“What?! What was that sound?!”
“You’re more of a Mike,” she insisted, shrugging neatly and flipping some curls over her shoulder.
“Wha—” Stiles had never been so offended in his life! “I am not! No way! I am a solid Jacob!”
“Mike,” she argued.
“Who’s Mike?” Scott asked.
“Shut up, Scott!” Stiles insisted, pointing a finger at him but still glaring at Lydia.
10 :  taste your beating heart by @cinematicnomad - 112k - Mature - Pack Dynamics - Slow Burn/Build - Stilinski Family Feels
Something was wrong in Beacon Hills. Derek was halfway across the country when he felt a call to return to his hometown, and somehow Stiles had been talked into letting the werewolf stay in his guest bedroom. This could lead to nothing good.
11 :  between the click of the light and the start of the dream by @thepsychicclam 105k - Explicit - Pack Dynamics - Getting Togheter - Fluff & Angst
A twig snaps, and then Stiles hears breathing and the rustle of leaves. He strains to get a better glimpse into the darkness, but it’s pointless. There’s nothing but a black void.
It's Stiles' senior year, and he's trying to concentrate on normal things - like the lacrosse championship, spring break, prom, graduation (and definitely not Derek) - when he starts having nightmares and waking up in the middle of nowhere. Oh yeah, and he's being haunted by a hag. Great.
12:  And You Say You're Alone by taelynhawker - 30k - Explicit - Pack Dynamincs - Bad Friend Scott - Romance
Between the kanima, the Argents, and Peter's untimely return from the dead, everything has fallen apart. Stiles and Derek try to put their lives back together once the crisis has passed. Stiles deals with the aftermath of being tortured, and the distance growing between he and Scott. Derek attempts to become a stronger alpha and keep his pack safe, and that includes Stiles.
13:  Trust Fall by Stoney - 144k - Explicit - Body Swap - Hurt/Confort - Slow Burn/Build
Stiles is fairly certain that a case could be made for every bad thing in his life coming back to Peter Hale. This time it's pissing off a powerful witch, who retaliated by swapping Stiles and Derek a la Freaky Friday, because sure. That makes sense. Um, there are GPAs on the line, not to mention the whole thing where his dad wants to shoot Derek on sight. Except who he sees as Derek is actually Stiles, and Stiles did not sign up for filicide.
Great. Wait...does this mean he's the Alpha until they figure this out? Holy. Shit.
****
Derek had stood in front of the bathroom mirror for a few minutes trying to control the panic as he saw himself as Stiles. As the loud mouthed human friend of the pack. He was going to kill Peter. He was going to kill the witch, then he was going to kill Peter. Maybe even resurrect him again just to kill him all over.
They were going to have to play this cool. They would have to stay calm and focused. Which is of course why the universe threw him into this situation with someone who physically couldn't be calm and focused.
Of course.
14:  Gravity's Got Nothing on You by @zosofi - 84k - Explicit - Fake/Pretend Boyfriends - Humor - Romance
“Three weeks,” Derek says.
“Still don’t want to,” Stiles says.
“I’ll pay you,” Derek says, and that… that has Stiles interested. Alf’s Antique’s may be a great job, but it’s not a high-paying job, and half of Stiles’s tuition is coming from financial aid, so…
“How much,” Stiles asks, “are we talking here? Because I know your family, dude. And it’ll be kind of awkward after.“
“My family thinks you’re some sort of fucking gift to the world,” Derek seethes, like he’s jealous, “they’ll probably be pissed at me when we break it off, so don’t worry about that. Five hundred bucks.”
“A thousand,” Stiles says, because screw ethics. Also, the Hale family is loaded. Derek can deal.
15:  Every Step You Take by @nokomiss - 49k - Mature - Magic - UST - Secret Feelings
Stiles accidentally ends up magically bound to Derek. It’s super.
16:  Baking My Way Into Your Heart by theSilence - 179k - Mature - College AU/Coffee Shop AU - Slow Burn/Build - Friends to Lovers
Derek is an uptight college student, all work and no play. His carefully scheduled life is thrown kilter when his regular barista is replaced with someone new.
17:  Windows by @drgrlfriend - 83k - Explicit - Blind!Stiles - Friends to Lovers - Found Families
Derek has a new neighbor who won't stop looking.
Excerpt:
“You’re blind,” Derek said flatly, the anger draining from him so suddenly he felt almost woozy. His vision cleared, his claws sliding back into blunt fingernails.
“Thanks for the memo, genius,” the kid said acidly. “I can still fucking defend myself, so don’t take another damn step.”
“Fuck, I...I’m sorry,” Derek stuttered.
“What?!” The kid’s brow crinkled. “I mean — what?! You’re fucking sorry!?” His lips thinned into a harsh line. “What, is this some kinda Hallmark movie where you’re discovering the error of your ways because you don’t want to rob a blind person?! That’s fucking condescending, man. I’ll have you know that —”
“Just, wait.” Derek interrupted what was apparently the start of a convincing argument as to why he should rob the kid after all, feeling his head start to spin. “This is — it’s a misunderstanding. I’m — I’m not robbing you. You’re — you’re safe, okay? I’m taking three steps back. Just — just let me explain.”
“Explain why you came busting into my apartment? Yeah, go right ahead, man, I can’t wait to hear this epic tale.”
18 :  Just to See You Again by MellytheHun (@loserchildhotpants) - 15k - Explicit - Love Letters - Getting Together - College AU
A sterek college!AU where writing student Stiles specializes in love letters, runs a blog about it and can be commissioned to write love letters on behalf of lovers who are at a loss for words.
He makes some cash, he’s good at what he does (especially when he gets to be a little more explicit in his letters), it pays for his textbooks and that’s all he’s really looking for and life is fine. That is, until someone anonymously commissions him to write a love letter to mathematics student, Derek Hale.
19:  Chasing Slumber by @hyperlittlenori - 21k - Explicit - Post-Nogitsune - Porn With Feelings - Fix it
Stiles finds solitude and a glimpse at recovering from his ordeal with the Nogitsune in a dingy motel far from Beacon Hills. Inhuman blue eyes follow his silent struggles in the darkness of the room and he can no longer pretend to sleep, pretend he hasn’t been profoundly changed by all that has happened. He can only let his fingers stretch out across threadbare but clean sheets and clench around them, in a failed attempt at not reaching for Derek.
20 :  the thread is ripping by @thepsychicclam - 36k - Explicit - Pinning - Angst with a happy ending - Flashbacks
Stiles is 27 now, with a master’s degree and a career and a house and a serious boyfriend and a life in San Francisco that doesn't include Derek. But then Stiles unexpectedly shows back up in Beacon Hills, and Derek would recognize that scent anywhere.

I Liked You So Much, We Lost It (Iwaizumi x Reader)
Pairing: Iwaizumi/Reader
Prompt/Summary: You and Iwaizumi are so in love with each other that the only way the universe can separate you both is to put 8,577 kilometers worth of land and sea between the two of you (spoiler: the universe actually does put 8,577 kilometers worth of land and sea between the two of you).
Tags: Fluff, Angst
Note: I used she/her pronouns for the reader, Lots of timeskips, Inspired by Ysabelle’s “I Liked You So Much, We Lost It”, Sequel to “I Like You So Much, You’ll Know It” but can be read as a standalone fic
Warnings: Angst, Very Slight Manga Spoilers, Slight Canon Divergence (you won’t even notice it if you don’t read into it so let’s shhhh, I mean this entire fanfic is a canon divergence but let’s not 😌)
Tumblr media
Almost everyone in Aoba Johsai knew that you and Iwaizumi were together. So many people had invested themselves in the friends to lovers situation that you guys had that it was impossible for them to not find out that you guys were finally together. Nearly three years of you guys just tip-toeing around each other and it finally paid off.
You guys were practically inseparable since the day that Iwaizumi brought you to the convenience store to shelter yourselves from the rain. If one was to see either of you, it was sure that the other would come around eventually. You guys were so deeply in love with each other that nothing could separate you. However, months had passed, and in a few weeks, it would be time for you all to graduate. You never really knew what Iwaizumi’s plans were after Seijoh. You just trusted that everything would fall into place as it always did.
“Hajime, why are you avoiding my gaze?” You pout from the floor of his bedroom, sitting with your legs crossed as you basked in the warmth that his hoodie brought.
Iwaizumi looks up from his work to give you a small smile. “You look too cute in my jacket.”
“And?” You blush slightly, but you don’t let him fully change the topic.
“It’s distracting, and I have this final project to finish.” Iwaizumi turns to look back at the paper.
“Project? Didn’t we finish them all last week?” You raise a brow, trying to take a look at the paper before Iwaizumi hastily pulls it away from your view. “Hey, Hajime… What is that?”
“It’s nothing.” Iwaizumi’s body is tense, avoiding your gaze as he fiddles with the pen.
“Okay.” You can feel your heart beating quicker. Worry filled your veins, but you try to tell yourself that you’re probably just overreacting. “I trust you.”
Iwaizumi sighs before he stands up and goes to your side. He plops behind you, pulling you in between his legs before he wraps his arms around your waist and rests his chin on your shoulder. “I’m gonna miss this.”
You smile at his touch, closing your eyes to bask in the warmth that he emits before his words sink. “You’re talking as if I’m gonna be leaving.”
You giggle lightly before you turn around and wrap your arms around Iwaizumi’s neck, pressing your forehead onto his. “I’m not going anywhere, don’t worry.”
Iwaizumi looks conflicted as he stares into your eyes, his grip on your waist getting tighter with each passing second. You can see his eyes swirl with a million different things, and it scares you. What was it that had him acting like this?
“Hajime—“
Iwaizumi cuts you off with a kiss.
It’s desperate. The way his lips move against yours, searching for something, longing for something. His lips were soft against yours, but the emotions you could feel swirling inside him made his movements hasty and thoughtless. It was like he was trying to forget something, erasing whatever it was that ate him up on the inside as he deepened the kiss.
He pulls away, giving you a chance to breathe before he’s hoisting you up and dropping you on his bed, hovering on top of you as he gazes into your eyes.
His eyes were teary, and this prompts you to speak. “Hajime what’s wrong?”
Iwaizumi drops to your side on the bed before he pulls you on top of him as he wraps his arms around you. “Promise me.”
“Promise you what?” The serious tone laced in Iwaizumi’s words makes your heart beat quicker, the fear of something—you didn’t know what exactly made you feel afraid at that moment—settling itself deep into your chest. “Hajime, what’s going on?”
“Promise me you’ll stay with me.” Iwaizumi whispers, his arms wrapping tighter around you as if he was afraid that you were going to disappear. “Please.”
“I promise.” You grab Iwaizumi’s cheeks with your hand before you press a quick peck on his lips. “Now tell me what’s going on. You seem so stressed lately, and it’s kind of making me worried.”
“I’m…” Iwaizumi’s voice is strained as if the words stuck in his throat were laced with thorns that wound him as he struggles to let it out. “I’m gonna study Sports Sciences.”
You giggle lightly. “Why are you worried? You’re gonna do great—“
“In California.” Iwaizumi whispers, but you hear it nonetheless.
It doesn’t sink in. You don’t want it to. As the anchors of that statement plunge deeper into the ocean of your system, the currents that try to keep you alive raise themselves to fight against the weight of the anchors. It’s futile, the waves of emotions, thoughts rage until they’re slowly drowning you in the uncertainty of your future. “Are you breaking up with me?”
“What?” Iwaizumi sits up, which in turn makes you sit up as well. “No. I’m just… I don’t want to lose you just because I’m leaving.”
“Then why are you so stressed?” You could feel your eyes well up with relief, but no matter how much you look on the bright side, there’s still that gnawing feeling in your stomach. “You’re not losing me unless you break up with me, idiot.”
“Hey, don’t cry.” Iwaizumi pouts lightly at you, making you laugh at the way he looked. He smiles, his heart swelling as he sees you laugh. “Are you sure you’re okay with it? I’m gonna be all the way in California. The timezones won’t match. I’ll be busy on some days. I won’t be here to hug you or kiss you. Which is pretty damn unfortunate cause I really like kissing you—“
“Iwaizumi Hajime.” Iwaizumi stops when he hears you call his name while grabbing his cheeks.
“Yes, love?” Iwaizumi responds immediately. It was as if months of being with you had trained him to do so when you called out his full name.
“I love you, and kilometers of land and sea isn’t gonna change that.” You smile before pressing a kiss on his lips. “Stop worrying.”
“Do that again.” Iwaizumi says as he eyes your lips.
“Do what?” You decide to tease him, acting as if you didn’t know that he wanted another kiss.
“Y/N.” He groans as he glares at you playfully. “You know what I mean.”
“But I don’t.” You have a shit-eating grin on your face.
“Fine, be like that.” Iwaizumi huffs before he pulls you for another kiss.
You can feel him smile against your lips as you wrap your arms around his neck.
That was 10 months ago. Iwaizumi left in July, making it a total of six months that you haven’t seen him in person. The first month went off without a hitch. Video chats every day, messages shared regardless of the other’s time zone, and other methods of communication were used just so you guys felt like you were still there with each other in person. Unfortunately, it didn’t go that well.
If you were to describe what happened, you would say that you could compare it to a candle. It burns brightly at first before it slowly melts the way and the candle comes crashing down, snuffing out its flame with its own wax. Each month that passed was a step closer to the end that you both desperately tried to ignore.
You laid in your bed, snuggled into your blankets as you tried to seek warmth. The jacket that Iwaizumi gave you that you wore provided no warmth. It may have eased the cold that the rain brought, but it did nothing to ease the winter that stormed within your chest. Despite the bitter cold, you held on. After all, every winter has to end, right?
You frowned as you looked at one of the pictures that Iwaizumi was tagged in. A blonde girl with her arm around his shoulder, and Iwaizumi with a bright smile. The kind of smile he used to wear in pictures with you.
You could feel anger in your veins, jealousy mingling with it as it brought your blood to a light simmer. You were being unreasonable, you knew that, but six months without Iwaizumi was getting to you, and seeing some other girl doing what you desperately wanted to, but not being able to, made an envious feeling grow in your chest. It didn’t help that she wore the jacket you knew all too well: A jacket you gave Iwaizumi before he left for California. Your eyes teared up at the fact.
You shut your phone and your eyes, ready to turn in for the night before the familiar ringtone fills your ears. You wait. You don’t answer immediately. You let the phone ring a bit more. Your irrational side coming out to play as you hoped that maybe Iwaizumi would feel just as cold as you if you answered him later than you usually did.
You pick up.
“Good morning, love.” Iwaizumi’s face pops up on your skin, a bright smile on his face as the beginnings of the morning sun kiss his skin. The background was moving, and the camera was unstable, which meant that Iwaizumi was probably walking to his class somewhere, “I’m sorry for calling at this time. It’s probably late there but I missed— Wait, are you okay? You look like you just cried.”
You saw that Iwaizumi had stopped walking, the background behind him as stagnant as the words stuck in your throat.
“Hey, baby, what’s wrong?” Iwaizumi furrows his brows. “Talk to me.”
You begin to speak. “I don’t think—“
The lightning strikes outside, and a bright flash fills your room. You laughed bitterly in your head, perhaps it was a warning from the universe.
You change your approach. “In the hundred different futures you imagined… In the Dateko game…”
You struggle to find your words.
Iwaizumi smiles, but it looks quite forced to you. “The hundred different futures I imagined with you when you cheered for me in the Dateko game?”
“Yeah.” You almost feel guilty as you finalize the words you’re about to say in your head.
“What about those?” Iwaizumi asks, ever the patient and understanding boyfriend he was, but you could see it. The glint in his eyes that he had whenever he wanted to finish something. The look he had in his eyes whenever he just wanted to get things over with like they were some sort of… Inconvenience.
“Did you...” You shift in your bed, second-guessing your words as you sit up and fiddle with the hem of Iwaizumi’s jacket. “Was there a future that went like this?”
“Like this?” Iwaizumi looks confused. “Where I call you in the middle of a street? Not really? That’s too specific, honestly.” He chuckles and your heart sinks.
“No, not that.” You say solemnly. “A future where we don’t work.”
“What?” Iwaizumi looks stunned, and for a second, your heart races at the sight of him looking as he did before… Before he went to California. “What do you mean? Y/N?”
“I just—“
“HAJIME!” You could hear a woman’s voice on the other side. Years of learning English made sure that you understood what she said without a problem “Ready to go?”
Iwaizumi looks away from you as he turns to the source, a smile painting his face. “Of course, just give me a second.”
Your heart sinks in realization.
That’s how he smiled at you in the past.
“I’m gonna go.” You choke out as tears flow down your cheeks. “Have a good day, Iwaizumi-san.”
You shut the phone.
You cry. You didn’t need to hear it fall from Iwaizumi’s lips. You didn’t need to have it confirmed. You knew him like the back of your hand, and you knew that he had feelings for that girl, whoever the hell she was. You knew that he probably only kept you because he didn’t want to hurt you. It wasn’t like he didn’t love you anymore. He probably did, it’s just that he found someone who was… There. Someone who wasn’t in a different place. Someone he could hug anytime he wanted to. It’s unfortunate that it wasn’t you, but maybe you should’ve seen it coming.
So you let go, and it was timely. What started underneath the rain, ended under it. The warmth of the first confession was washed away by the droplets, leaving nothing but the cold to soak deep into your system as you sobbed into your bed, hastily pulling the jacket off of your frame.
You make sure that Iwaizumi never gets to contact you. You had left him a message: a cruel “I’m breaking up with you, I’m sorry,” and nothing more. Maybe that would hurt him enough to make him feel less guilty about making moves on the other girl. You knew it was stupid to just leave him like that, but you just wanted it to stop. You hated the feeling of uncertainty. You hated the feeling of not being able to do anything. If you had to hurt yourself in the process of finding your peace of mind, then so be it.
Years pass and you’ve graduated. You’ve moved on. It wasn’t an easy process, but you pulled through. There were moments you just so wanted to desperately call Iwaizumi and crawl back into his arms, apologizing and all, but you stop yourself each time. You cut off all contact with him, you weren’t going to waste that. However, you knew that no matter how moved on you are, some part of you will always love him… And that’s okay. You’re okay. That’s the only thing that mattered.
Currently, you were in a convenience store, grabbing a quick snack before you went to the stadium to watch the volleyball match with Oikawa, who arrived from Argentina a few days back and wanted to meet up. The setter was probably looking for milkbread in one of the aisles, so you took your sweet time in picking a drink and snack because the setter would probably be shocked by the new variety of milkbread choices that popped up while he was still in Argentina.
Your phone buzzes.
Flatass: I’m at the table near the back, slowpoke. Get your ass here.
You roll your eyes with a grin before you text back.
You: You’re just jealous I have more ass than you.
You don’t get a reply. You shrug and pay for your items before you walk to the back of the store to eat with Oikawa.
“Oikawa—“ You stop at the sight.
Instead of Oikawa on the chair, it was Iwaizumi, still as handsome as he was years ago.
“Hey.” Iwaizumi smiles. “Do you mind if I watch with you guys? Oikawa had an extra ticket and who was I to decline—“
“I don’t mind.” You smile, nothing but happiness filling your chest as you reunite with an old friend.

A/N: I like to pretend that this part of the storyline doesn’t exist 💖. Also, this was written before Iwaizumi Hajime (27) Athletic Trainer was a thing so please excuse the ending.

better with time. Ch 12
the beginning of the end.
You awake from a troubling dream with more questions now than answers. Your tiring journey for answers, and your new life with the scouts begins. (AO3)
Words: 1,442
“I’ve never seen anything like it before, not even Eren reacted like that when he shifted.”
“This brat’s almost more trouble than what she’s worth. Come get me the moment she even flinches.”
The distant voices faded and your vision darkened once more. You felt many small arms wrapped around your body. You thought to struggle but the hold felt comforting. When you opened your eyes there they were. Your four siblings, small and innocent with looks of worry and longing.
“Y/N... we love you and miss you so much!” They cry in unison.
Thick tears pool in your own eyes now. You’re confused, you aren’t sure why they seem so distressed.
“Wha–– I love you too...” You reassure them all, patting their heads and returning the hug with matching affection and warmth.
“Why are you crying?” You ask, but you’re met with no answer. Shyly your siblings look away, your brother whimpering and fighting back more tears.
“What’ troubling you?” You ask again, their distress flowing into you through your shared familial bond. Before anyone could form a reply, a final set of arms wrapped around you. Endlessly warm and comforting. You recognized them immediately.
“Papa! What’s happening?” You ask, turning around to embrace him. He smiles at you, his weary eyes crinkling at the corners, they shined with unshed tears of his own.
“We don’t have much time deary. I’m sorry your Papa couldn’t protect you in the end. I couldn’t protect your mother either. I haven’t been able to forgive myself, for failing you all. I’m sorry hun. But my prayers have been answered. You’re alive! It’s... It's too late for the rest of us but this entire time we’ve been watching over you. We always will!”
Your heart stopped. What is he saying? What does he mean it’s too late? Noticing your confusion, your dad gave you a reassuring smile.
“You’ll realize when you wake up, but when you do you might forget this conversation here happened. We just wanted to give you one last proper goodbye. We love you Y/N, you’ve got a second chance. Be careful, live a full life you deserve it. Make your Papa happy and live. Make new friends, find love, be free for us.”
“P-papa...” Your lips wobbled as you fought back your sobs. Your memories were fading back to you now. Of course, your family was long gone by now, but they hardly aged since you last saw them... who did this to them?
“Don’t worry dear, we’re about to move on now. Being able to talk to you like this... well it just brought your Pop a lot of peace! Right kids?”
Your younger siblings, filled with a new found hope flashed you bright smiles. They were happy now, they were okay. The pain was immense inside but, this moment, was more than you could ever ask for. This was a closure you never imagined being gifted.
“I miss you guys...” You cried, as you rushed to hold your family one last time.
“We miss you too deary. We love you, be careful! I don’t want to see you until you’re wrinklier than me!” Your dad roared with laughter, patting your roughly on the back to swat the sadness out of you. You giggled along with your siblings, and as the dream began to fade smiles were on your families faces.
“I love you.”
...
You groaned and winced at the pain that radiated through your muscles. When your eyes creaked open, you were met with Hange’s wide bronze eyes boring into your own. Their nose was pressed into yours, and they remained still as they watched your eyes for any recognition. You jumped, and groaned at the way your muscles screamed in discomfort.
“Hange, back up please.”
“Oh! Good! You remember me.” Hange exclaimed, jumping out of your personal space and landing in their chair that sat next to your infirmary bed.
“Why wouldn’t I remember someone like you?” You asked, laughing a bit at Hange’s antics.
“Well, at the experiment, instead of shifting into a titan you released a lot of steam, as a titan does, but when we found you, you were convulsing and spouting nonsense. “ Papa ” this, “ Mother ” that, do you remember?”
You thought long and hard, your father and mother? You don’t remember a thing from the last day, let alone your parents from a hundred years ago. It was sad to think about. Slowly you shook your head. Hange remained quiet for a moment as they scribbled in their notes. When they were done, the placed their hand atop yours and gave it a squeeze.
“It’s okay, Y/N. At the very least, for a moment back then you did remember. So, I bet it was nice for you, even though you can’t remember right now.” They smiled, and that smile lifted your spirits. Hange always knew just the right thing to say, whether they really understood how you felt or not.
Just then the door to the infirmary opened and Levi slid through the door. He quirked his brow at Hange before sighing and pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Four Eyes... Didn’t I say to get me the second she woke up.” He scolded the scientist as he stalked across the room to pull up a chair to sit in.
“Oops, sorry! I totally forgot the moment she woke up!” Hange tried in vain to defend themself as they rubbed anxiously at the back of their neck, chuckling nervously.
Levi simply flicked their forehead before taking a look at the notes they had written down since you awoke.
“Well, Y/N do you remember this man?” Hange asked getting you all back on task. You looked to Levi blankly, before answering.
“No, I don’t, sorry.” You said sounding sincere. Levi’s brows twitched a fraction closer together in a frown before his eyes slid over to gage Hange’s reaction. Hange looked deeply confused, mouth slightly agape and brows pinched together harshly. They were at a loss for words, and they tried and failed in finding any appropriate response.
“No, I’m kidding, sorry! I remember everything right before my “shift” just fine.” You chuckled. You could practically hear Levi’s eyes rolling as he sighed at your childishness.
Hange deflated with a relieved sigh of their own before laughing hard at your dark humor.
“Ah, Y/N!!! You scared me! Levi would be sad if you didn’t remember him!” Hange whined playfully making you giggle yourself. You were exhausted but this laugh was really needed.
“Don’t lie now.” You laughed, before sitting upright on your bed and rolling your neck. Levi folded his arms over his chest and closed his eyes, shaking his head in annoyance.
“You’re a pain, get serious.” He chided, leading to one more chuckle slipping passed your lips. As annoyed as he was, Levi couldn’t ignore the fraction of him that enjoyed the light mood as short lived as it was.
The two of them caught you up on to what happened yesterday morning during your first experiment. The mood turned darker and more serious and your muddied thoughts troubled you.
You were happy you didn’t shift, that’s your greatest fear, but this is leading to more questions than answers and there's no way to just leave it at that. They need answers, and a part of you wants them too. You want definitive proof that it’s impossible for you to shift, or if you can, you just hope you can come back.
Your body must be sore from the seizure, your mind is tired. You’ve been put through the ringer after just one trial. You heaved a long-suffering sigh, your voice trembling just slightly. Sympathy brewed inside Levi’s heart for only a moment before he squashed the feeling mercilessly.
He stood from his seat and walked towards the door before turning back to you and speaking.
“Erwin will be here in a few weeks to discuss our next steps. You’ll be back to cleaning soon, you’re not off the hook.” Levi’s expression hardened but you could see, just beyond that that his eyes looked just a little distressed. You tried not to think about it too much.
You weren’t ready to be alone, and Hange read your mood like a book.
“Well, the scouts again are asking so many questions about you. They want to act like they don’t care but they’re so curious they’re like a bunch of puppies.” Hange giggled.
You smiled at the thought before a wave of exhaustion overtook you.
“I won’t leave, get some sleep.”
“Thanks.”
You closed your eyes as you slipped further and further from consciousness.

happy halloween! 👻 here’s a quickie little yn x niall fic to celebrate my fave holiday! this song is the vibe, if you want some listening to go along with.
the moon laughs and whispers, ‘tis near Halloween
Tumblr media
Unsurprisingly, Halloween is perfectly at home in Edinburgh. The night is dark and damp, a pervasive chill hanging in the air as you and your friends rush  drunkenly along the cobblestone street, rain hitting the backs of your necks, and  warm, golden lamplight from flats above trickling out onto the dark stone. The city is as alive as it always is—alive in a way that feels like a million different lives, like it somehow knows both the past and the future, like it’s holding you close but also hurtling you forward. It feels like tonight is a special night—and, although you have no real reason to think this Halloween will be different from any other Halloween, you let that feeling in, let it settle into your bones and carry you forward toward the party.
It had been Fiona’s idea, going to the football squad’s Halloween party. Your other friends had championed a pub crawl or a scary movie night at the flat, but Fiona’d heard about the football party and, knowing the keeper she’s been crushing on would surely be there, insisted. And now you’re here, drunk in a witch costume on a dark October eve, your pointed hat barely keeping the rain off your face, orange and brown leaves crunching under the heel of your boots  as you pick up the pace and run toward the party, giggling into the night.
The football house is packed even fuller than you’d imagined it would be, the air thick with the smell of beer and weed and Fiona, dressed as Posh Spice, spots the keeper just milliseconds after your group ducks into the party, disappearing in a flurry of rhinestones. It leaves just three of you—Fleur, Amina, and yourself—standing in the middle of a heaving party, first years entirely out of their element.
“Drinks?” Fleur, dressed as a zombie bride, asks.
“Drinks.” Echoes Amina, the antennas on her alien costume bobbing as she nods her head.
The three of you clasp hands so as not to lose each other and Fleur leads the way, zig zagging through the crowd of goblins and ghouls and strangely sexual Boris Johnson costumes until she finds the kitchen, a dark, damp little room with one, singular coffin shaped window above the sink and no furniture save for a wooden table in the middle of the room, without a single chair. Atop the table sits a literal cauldron, cast iron and all, with a pink liquid gently swaying inside.
“Ick,” says Amina, bringing her hand up to cover her mouth. “Boys.”
“It doesn’t look like anyone’s been in here for a hundred years,” you say, voice low. Something about the room makes you feel like you’ve travelled a million miles away from the party, just on the other side of the door. You can’t hear a thing in here—just the pitter patter of the rain against the window, and the creaking of the floorboards as Fleur steps forward.
“That’s probably true,” she laughs, peering into the cauldron. “I bet none of these lads can cook. They must order Nando’s every night.”
“Probably,” Amina agrees, stepping forward to peer over Fleur’s shoulder. “At least they went through the effort of making a mixed drink, though. I’m far too bloated for a beer.”
“Aye,” Fleur’s Scottish accent thickens when she’s drunk, but it sounds even thicker all of a sudden. “Commitment to the theme as well.”
“It smells lovely,” says Amina, shutting her eyes as she smiles. “Like roses.”
“Really?” Fleur says, as you step deeper into the kitchen and join them around the cauldron. “I reckon it smells like chocolate.”
You lean forward, too, despite yourself. The scent of the drink is intoxicating—neither roses nor chocolate but, you think, the distinct smell of a chilly day by the sea: salt air and a rising tide and it’s more like a memory than a scent, a moment in time, the most peculiar sense of deja vu. Whatever it is, it’s not the kind of smell that should be coming from a mixed drink at a house party. Whatever it is, you don’t want to step away from it.
The three of you—the witch, the bride, and the alien—stand over the cauldron for a long moment, breathing it in. There is no sound beyond the rain outside, no semblance of the party raging beyond the kitchen door. It’s just the three of you, this cold, quiet room, and the strangely comforting feeling that you are, after all, not alone.
“Are there any cups?” Amina speaks first, glancing up at you, across the table from her. Her brown eyes are glassy, her gaze faraway.
“Cups,” you echo, a little floaty, your mind still by the seaside. “Right. Let me find some.”
The room’s only cabinets flank the sink and the single window, one on each side. You find the first cabinet empty except for a shimmery spider web and an old looking candle, but the second holds exactly what you’re looking for: three cocktail glasses, set on the shelf in a pretty row, glinting despite the dingy light. Perfect.
“Bingo!” You say, turning back toward your friends. “And only three left anyw—guys?”
The room is empty.
The cauldron still sits atop the table, its intoxicating smell strong as ever, but your friends are not where you left them, twenty seconds ago, when you turned toward the cabinets. Your friends are not anywhere in sight.
“Guys?” You call out again, taking one step forward. “You’re so not funny. I found cups.”
Silence.
“Fleur? Amina?” You step forward again, toward the center of the room, toward the drink. “You want a drink, or no?”
Still, silence—somehow more silent than before. Even the rain sounds like it’s whispering.
“This is fucking freaky,” you say, one last shot, trying to keep the tremble out of your voice. “You guys win, I’m fully freaked out, Happy Halloween.”
Silence. Stillness. A sudden, oppressive need to get out of this room.
Quick as a cat, you do.
--
When you step back through the door and out into the party, alone, it’s like you were never gone. In fact, it’s a bit like time has stopped—the party is just as packed as it was when you arrived, and you’re pretty sure the same song is still blasting through the speakers. Confused but ignoring it, you start to push your way through the crowd, in search of your friends.
A few steps deeper into the crowd and you spot a sliding back door. It makes perfect sense to you, the idea of Fleur and Amina slipping out into the backyard for some air, so you head straight for it, stepping out into the chilly, dark night.
The rain has mostly stopped, though the leafy  ground is still damp beneath your feet and the air feels wet, like it could begin again at any moment. Although it’s dark, you can see well enough—the yard is illuminated by a group of jack o’lanterns lined up along the back brick wall, and fairy lights strung between trees, casting a warm, flickering aura—and it’s immediately clear that Amina and Fleur are not out here. In fact, no one is.
You turn around to head back inside, pulling your phone out of your pocket as you do. And that’s when you walk right into him.
“Lads, are you—oof. Deo, you eejit—shit, you’re not, I’m so sorry, are you okay?”
“I—” you step back to collect yourself for a moment, eyes trailing up the hard chest you just stumbled straight into. It’s just a guy—blonde hair, bright blue eyes, thick Irish accent—but there’s something about him that keeps you rooted to your spot. Something about him that feels safer than going back inside.
“I didn’t hurt you, did I?” He rushes, when you don’t answer. I should’ve been looking, I’m so sorry.”
“No, no,” you manage. “I’m fine. It was my fault anyway, was looking at my phone. Are you okay? You sounded, like, worried?” You don’t know this man, you have no idea what his worried sounds like. But you can’t stop yourself from saying it.
“Can’t find my mates anywhere,” the stranger says, eyes sweeping the backyard over your head. “It’s like they fucking vanished.”
“I lost my friends too,” you echo, turning to look with him, though you know you’ll only find an empty yard. “I thought they might be out here, but nothing.”
“Two lost souls,” says the stranger, a smile in his voice. When you turn back around he’s pulling at his phone, saying, “I’m just going to text them and tell them I’m out here. They can come find me.”
“I was about to do the same,” you tell him, glancing down at your phone in your hands to shoot off the text. “There are way too many people in there.”
“Wanna wait it out together?” He looks up from his phone, a smile on his face. It brings out one tiny dimple, and sets your heart moving a little faster. “I’m Niall.”
“I’m a witch,” you smile back at him and he laughs, blue eyes trailing down your body once. It sends a jolt of something through you, makes you hope the flush creeping up your face isn’t visible in the flickering light.
“Have you got any powers?” Asks Niall, his eyes moving back up to meet yours. The blue is stunningly bright, even in the darkness.
“That’s for me to know,” you say, more smoothly than you ever imagined. “And you to find out. What’s your costume?”
“You can’t tell?” He glances down at himself, dressed in double denim with an American flag bandana tied around his neck. “Bruce Springsteen.”
“Right,” you nod, though it wasn’t obvious to you at all. “Course. You need to work on that accent, though.”
“Do I?” He raises an eyebrow, and adopts a surprisingly good—if over exaggerated—New Jersey accent. “I’m pretty proud of it, honestly. Been convincing people that it’s real all night.”
It’s not all that difficult for you to believe, actually, a bunch of drunk Brits buying into a fake, over the top, American accent without a single question. Instead, you ask him, “is there a tragic backstory, then? To go along with the tragic attempt at an accent?”
Niall laughs, bold and loud into the dark night, and suddenly you realize how entirely unafraid you feel with him—how you’d been on edge since the moment you stepped into the party but now that’s gone, evaporated, replaced, with a warm feeling in your belly and Niall’s infectious laughter. You bring your drink up to your lips and take a sip before you realize yet another thing: you have no memory of filling up your cup before leaving the kitchen.
Across from you, Niall’s clutching what looks like a pint of Guinness, which is a drink that makes very little sense at a house party. The more you think about it, the less of the night makes sense. You shake your head to push it away, not quite ready to give this up just yet.
Under the golden, flickering light from the jack o'lanterns,  you study Niall: the way his freckles sprinkle across his thick neck, how his roots are so much darker than the blonde at his tips, the tuft of chest hair peeking out from where his denim shirt is unbuttoned—everything about him leaves you breathless, desperate, longing, attracted to him in a way you’ve never experienced before. You feel, distinctly, that you are both supposed to be here, tonight, alone, together.
You feel, distinctly, that something went out if its way to make sure this would happen.
And maybe it’s the drink—the mysterious thing that smells like sea salt to you and roses to Amina—but here, with the wind rising around you and the night settling in, you have the distinct feeling that Niall is on the exact same page.
“I have the strangest feeling,” Niall says, voice dropping to something like a whisper. Behind him, leaves rustle as the wind blows a strong, measured gust though the garden. “We haven’t met before, have we?”
“I don’t think so,” you can’t look anywhere other than Niall’s eyes. “But I know what you mean.”
Niall nods, taking one step forward to lessen the gap between you. He’s so close you can smell him: warm and musky and soft and something else, too—something that reminds you of salt air and days by the sea. “I just feel like,” he says, and you nod.
“Me too.”
Far, far away someone calls your name, but you can’t stop looking at Niall, stepping closer and closer to him with every distant shout of your name. The shouting grows louder and louder until it’s impossible to ignore, although Niall doesn’t seem to acknowledge it at all. You open your mouth to ask him if he can hear it too, but before you get the chance something shakes your shoulder, calls your name one more time, and you open your eyes.
“Jesus,” says Amina, a mixture of relief and concern clouding her features. “You are impossible to wake up.”
“I’m—what?” You sit up in bed, head foggy, limbs heavy. “Fuck, what time is it?”
“Noon,” Amina pulls out her phone to check. “We’re gonna be late for our brunch reservations, that’s why I came to wake you up.”
“Oh,” you rub your eyes, shaking your head to try to bring yourself back down to Earth. “I was having such a vivid dream, sorry.”
“It’s cool, just hurry up.” Amina makes her way to your bedroom door, but pauses before she steps back out into the hallway. “Oh, by the way, Fiona said there’s a Halloween party at the football house tonight and she’s fucking desperate to go since she fancies the keeper. Could be fun, no?”
--
On Halloween night, dressed as a witch, you stand in the backyard of the football house with your friends. The yard is illuminated by jack o’lanterns and fairy lights and Fiona is off snogging the keeper upstairs and you feel warm and safe and happy, despite the autumnal chill in the air. As Fleur tells your small group a story about the weird couple sitting across from you at brunch today, you drop your head back to stare up at the night sky, sprinkled with stars, and the full moon peeking out over the clouds. It feels like you are supposed to be here tonight. You exhale, watching your breath fog with the cold and curl in the air above you.
“I’m going to refill my drink,” you say, smiling at the small group you’ve been standing with. You can feel something budding between Fleur and the pretty girl she’s been chatting to, dressed as Britney Spears, and you want to give them a moment alone. Fleur flashes you a grateful smile as you walk away.
Back inside, you locate the entirely normal kitchen, bright and airy and crowded, with a coffin-shaped window above the sink, and pull open the fridge to grab a beer from the stock inside. When you shut the door, there’s someone standing on the other side.
He’s dressed as Bruce Springsteen, double denim and an American flag bandana around his neck. He’s blonde hair with dark roots, and bright blue eyes. He’s staring right at you, with an unmistakable look of recognition on his face.
“Hi,” he says, stepping forward to lessen the gap between you and him. He smells warm and musky and safe—with a whiff of something like salt air.  “Sorry if this is a bit weird, but I’m Niall. Have we—have we met before?”

cosmetology anon: this is for you, although I tweaked the idea a bit. i hope you don’t mind!
Acquiring Tony Stark as an Asset had been purely by chance; after all, he wasn’t planned on being in the car. He was still an insolent teenager, angry with the world and angry with his father. They didn’t think he would’ve gone to a business party.
But his mother...well. They hadn’t thought that Tony Stark was a mama’s boy.
Because there Tony is, gasping for air while glass glitters all around him, looking near about like an angel that was torn from heaven with how it surrounded him.
They had thought he was dead.
At least, up until the point when he had looked Winter Soldier dead in the eye, said “hey you fucking asshole” and got a pretty damn good shot in the thigh.
Someone on the brink of death might have tried the gun, but never the insult.
So Hydra gets a brand new toy.
Not easily broken, which is a pain-and-a-half to deal with. At least with the Winter Soldier, he was too delirious with blood loss to notice who was operating on him, what they were attaching.
Tony Stark is on a whole other level.
He bites, he kicks, he scratches. Quite annoying, they just want him to tire himself out.
“Stark Industries doesn’t negotiate,” he hisses, trying to kick one of the nurses in the teeth.
“Who said anything about negotiating?” says the head doctor viciously. His teeth glint in the fluorescent lighting, scalpels reflecting brilliantly onto the walls. “As far as the media knows, you’re dead. No one is going to come looking, and no one even knows who we are.”
They make him sleep on a cot nearby Winter Soldier. Which is terrifying, to say the least. Not that he can kill him. He can’t touch him either.
He’s in a deep freezer. Eyes closed, thank god. But they put him there and they tell him all about how he came to be there.
“Everyone thought Barnes hit a rock and died,” one of the techs says, checking the machine. “He nearly did, but Zola helped us fix him up. Course, that was after a couple of times where he got to someone’s neck, and that was even before programming.”
“Programming?”
The tech leers at him, grinning. He’s standing, Tony’s sitting. It shouldn’t be as intimidating as it is.
“Oh yeah, Stark. They’re gonna fix you all up.”
“I don’t need fixing.”
“Tell that to Winter Soldier.”
“And what if your little machine gets rid of me, hm? Kills me?”
“We add you to the other disappointments, or we dig a shallow grave and hope you’re found decades later.”
Not exactly promising.
But here’s the thing: the tech was wrong. They won’t add him to the pile of disappointments.
The last time he went to a therapy appointment, his therapist said he had a “deep-seated need to be liked and be useful, which could be dangerous later.”
He’s assuming that Doc Chesterfield wasn’t exactly expecting Tony to be in the running towards becoming America’s Next Top Murder Machine, but Doc wasn’t really the kind of guy who was “in the know” about a lot of things.
That need to be liked and useful was about to come in handy.
Barely able to legally drink, he goes to the main doctor in charge. “You need me.”
The doctor looks at him incredulously.
“You think we need a kid to do all this shit? You think we haven’t figured it out?”
“You can’t have Barnes-”
“Winter Soldier, boy.”
“Fine, your little toy soldier. You can’t keep him out longer than necessary, otherwise his brain realizes that all of you are shitty and tries to break out. Again. You need someone else to take a look at it, and I’m the best bet you got.”
“And why would that be?”
Tony grins, and they see a shadow of what he has had in his life, exactly just who he used to be. Who he still is, at the moment.
“Whether you want to admit it or not--I’d say go ahead and admit it, I’m fun like that--I’m the smartest one in the room, maybe in the country. Maybe in two countries. I could swing the UK, it’s not like they’ve had anything interesting for the last hundred or so years--”
“Get to the point,” the handler hisses.
“I can help with arm maintenance. I’m not gonna do anything else to this poor guy, but I wanna stay alive and I’m not letting you erase my fucking mind because you want to have another toy soldier to march to your drum.”
“You almost make a compelling case,” the handler says. “We do need a mechanic on the arm, so to speak. But if he only comes out when we need him...well. Maintenance is manageable.”
Tony pushes his chin out.
“I can do better than your best.”
“Unfortunately, I don’t care. You’re too big of a liability.”
It is at this moment that Tony realizes he cannot talk his way out, or fight his way out, but damn he gets a scalpel and tries.
Manages to slice across the face of the handler. Nerve damage, tissue damage, quite potentially a very ugly nose. All very nice.
That gets him moved up by a month.
They send him to a chair that’s probably a lot worse than he’s imagining, give him a mouth guard, and tell him to scream all he likes. Sometimes it’s better to not have a voice later.
They say it like they’re quoting one of those shitty articles from Cosmopolitan that discusses the top forty-five best ways to move in the bedroom or something. He and Rhodey use to read it all the time whenever they visited one of the sororities.
(He misses Rhodey, more than words can say. The tears burn in his throat as the chair powers up, but he doesn’t dare cry. He hasn’t told them about Rhodey, and he doesn’t want him used against him.
He doesn’t want to be used against Rhodey.)
Tony Stark becomes the Mechanic. He stares too long, moves a bit slow at times, and doesn’t like people touching his things.
Hydra thinks it’s a success.
-
Tony thinks they should’ve done more than three sessions of go-round for their little buzzy-chair.
-
Just god, have none of them had to act before? Is that what this is?
So long as he doesn’t show any aspect of any real personality, they think he’s a walking-talking robot.
Should’ve just called him Chatty Cathy and attached a pull-string to his back with loadable phrases if they were just gonna call him the Mechanic and think his silence and weird staring habits were fine.
Winter Soldier needs maintenance.
Tony tries very carefully to keep his persona up. He thinks he’s doing a good job until the nurse leaves the room for her smoke-break and Winter Soldier gives him a look that’s so...different.
"They think you’re like me.”
“I am.”
“No.”
“And how can you tell?”
“You’re not hurting my arm.”
“Well I can, if you wanna be a masochist about it.”
He blankly stares.
“Why didn’t it work?”
“Not enough rounds.”
“We need to stop talking or they’ll watch the cameras.”
“Got it.”
Tony is not facing the cameras. They have no suspicion now, and if they can’t see him move his lips, then there’s no worry.
He faces Winter Soldier.
“You wanna get out of here? Tap once on your left, right on my thigh for yes. Twice for no.”
Tap.
There it is.
“Well, it’ll take time. You okay with that?”
Tap tap.
“I can’t make wishes come true,” Tony says sarcastically. Soldier hides a smile. “But. I have someone who might be looking for me. Or he’ll know it’s me.”
“A friend?”
“Something better. Family.”
It takes a little while. Despite Hydra’s incompetence at programming Tony out of his own system, they’re good at watching. They’re good at sniffing out undercover plans, so they set nurses to watch him and give him the worst food in his life.
And he can’t say anything about it.
They’re probably rations leftover from World War II, and here he is, pretending like it doesn’t bother him.
The first mission they’re out on, Tony wants so badly to break free. It looks too easy, probably because it is.
“The first time I escaped, they dragged me back and nearly gave me a matching leg to go with the arm,” Soldier murmurs in Russian.
(Tony’s had to take Russian classes. God, he’s lucky he has an eidetic memory otherwise he’d be up a paddle with a slotted spoon.)
“What, didn’t want to put more value on yourself?”
“Something like that,” Soldier says grimly. “Pay attention. They’re gonna put you in a cafe, have you run surveillance. You report back to me. Call me Winter.”
“Call me Mechanic.”
“That’s the name they chose?”
“Didn’t count my vote.”
Winter snorts.
“Time to get a move on.”
Tony has never been good at hiding his emotions, but by god he’s learning on the fly. At least Winter has a mask, and they’re...well, they’re working on one for him.
It’s not exactly priority, because everyone in the world thinks he’s dead.
Well. Shouldn’t say everyone. There is one guy who has decided that Tony didn’t die.
James Rhodes is a very smart guy, graduated top of his class at MIT and has full honors.
He also knows that Tony has fallen off of beds, out of chairs, down one flight of stairs, and tripped on just about everything.
And he’s lived. He has defied near-death experiences before, and he’s been fine.
Maybe Rhodey is crazy. He most likely is.
But he doesn’t mind being crazy if no one can actually confirm that Tony died. The funeral was closed for the family, not even Rhodey could go.
“Sorry kiddo,” Obie had said, not sorry at all. He’s never liked the kid, thought him too blunt about situations that he didn’t need to be blunt about.
So Rhodey thinks that this is a conspiracy, only he doesn’t want his best friend to end up on a YouTube video five years later talking about the “tragic disappearance” and how “no one could figure it out.”
He’s James fucking Rhodes. Sometimes goes by Rhodey. And he’s got this.
Winter Soldier does not “got this.” He is currently being thrown against a wall, and grunting as he looks at the target.
Tony is currently trying very hard not to have a full-blown emotional show-off, because he is supposed to be fixing up some of the weapons and sending them out.
It is rather stress-inducing, once you start thinking about it.
He tries not to.
God, he’s not even getting pizza after that. He’s probably going to get some bullshit like a vanilla nutritional protein shake.
Out everything he’s been put through, and that’s the thing that makes him retch.
 -
Barnes is looking...rough. He got shoved a lot, the mission didn’t exactly go to plan, which turns out to be quite the large problem.
Because Tony took over. They found out that he can actually assemble weaponry and aim with nearly-one-hundred-percent accuracy.
They think it’s because they fried his brain and injected some sort of back-alley-serum.
It’s not.
He’s not even sure if their serum worked, if he’s being completely honest.
But this? Oh god.
The doctors look at him with an almost giddy joy.
“We’ll have Soldier train you.”
"He is not going back into the cryogenic chambers?”
“No, not...not until you prove yourself.”
“I have proven myself accurate with mechanical fixes.”
“Always best to diversify your skills.”
“Expand.”
(Tony’s been messing with them a lot. They’re not positive he knows advanced vocabulary. He does, he just hates them.)
Barnes is...not exactly excited that he’s not becoming an ice-pop.
“I’m...training you?”
“Yeah, looks like it. You wanna teach me how to choke someone with my thighs?”
“Only when they send the Widows.”
“Who are they?”
“Best damned assassins you’ll ever have the displeasure of experiencing.”
“Aw, you’re learning how to curse!”
“Shut up, they’re onto us.”
Winter Soldier and the Mechanic have a...cordial relationship. At least, out of the ring.
In the ring, they don’t rather like the other that much. Mechanic much prefers to avoid Soldier at all times.
“You can’t just run from every opponent,” Winter hisses.
“You’ve been doing it since 1948,” Tony responds in a robotic tone, nearly missing a kick to the shins. “I don’t see why not.”
He smiles at that one, looking at Tony.
He was...Tony was unique. He would whisper stories in the dead of night, mostly about a man named Jarvis and a boy his age named “Rhodey.”
“His parents...they didn’t actually name him that, did they?”
Tony has to bury his face in his pillow to hide his face from laughing.
Winter got a good look at that smile.
It’s chillingly nice to look at it, and maybe that’s because he hasn’t smiled in years, or maybe it’s because he’s never seen another person smile with joy in it for decades.
For a couple more months, nothing on their side happens.
Rhodey, however, learns how to use Tony’s homemade AI for illegal purposes!
He’s figured out lots of things.
Tony was never confirmed dead. Technically, he’s a missing person.
Which means they don’t know if he’s dead because they never found him.
Secondly, there’s a strange email to someone who goes by Zola.
Well, Rhodey and Tony didn’t stay up until three a.m. to solve impossible codes for nothing.
James Rhodes figures out that the Winter Soldier isn’t some whispered about myth, and so he decides to try and find him.
He’ll need to ask Mama if he can use the sedan, but it should be fine. After all, he has a friend to find.
Hydra is getting too used to having them out. Tony’s been coaching Barnes on not letting his reactions be at the front and center.
He’s remembering a lot more. Starting to become a bit more human-like.
He actually doesn’t like the food now, which is a tasteful improvement.
“When we get out,” Tony whispers in night. “I’m going to make sure that you get the best goddamned pizza the earth has ever seen. And we’ll celebrate your birthday.”
“When is my birthday?”
“I...huh. I don’t know. That’s not the fact I remember from school.”
“So you remembered that my favorite movie star was Hedy Lamarr, but not my own birthday?”
“In my defense, Ms. Lamarr is far more memorable than a simple date on the calendar.”
Barnes smiles.
“I can’t wait to see a picture of her.”
“You will, soon.”
Rhodey is getting close.
The only barrier is convincing his mama to use the sedan.
“What for?”
“A trip.”
“To?”
“Washington DC?”
“Why are you questioning that, young man?”
“Um, because of gas money? Maybe?”
Mrs. Rhodes stands up to her full height of five-foot-two and stares.
“What’s the real reason? I didn’t raise a son who could lie to his mother successfully.”
Rhodey sighs.
“Tony’s alive. I think. I’m, like, ninety-five-percent sure.”
Her face softens.
“Oh baby, you’ve talked about this with your therapist, and-”
Rhodey glares.
“It’s not about the therapist’s opinion, mom. I broke into some records. There was a closed-casket funeral, and technically? They didn’t have a body for Tones. I know he’s out there, and I think I got a lead with the help of Jarvis.”
“I thought Jarvis was dead.”
“Not Edwin, Mama. Tony’s creation, an AI named Jarvis.”
Mama looks at him carefully.
“You sure this is what is going to make you happy?”
“I don’t care about being happy, I want to see if I can bring him home, Mama.”
She dangles the keys.
“If you scratch this car up, I will not hesitate to tell every single aunt at church about this and have common sense walloped into you.”
“I promise I won’t,” Rhodey says. “I know what I’m doing.”
“I’ll pack you a bag. And you need your church clothes.”
“Ma...”
“Don’t Ma me, I’m your mother, I know what’s best,” Mrs. Rhodes says, sweeping into the kitchen. “Don’t tell your daddy what you told me, you’ll give him a heart attack.”
“I thought I was gonna give you a heart attack,” Rhodey says.
She turns, eyes twinkling.
“You got a lot of learning to do, young man. But go on to DC for me.”
First stop: gas station.
Next stop: saving Tony.
If Tony had known that his friend was so dedicated to saving him that he would drive his mama’s sedan five miles above the speed limit, perhaps he would have stayed put and played nice.
But Tony did not know this, so he was currently working on fixing Barnes’ arm to shoot projectile missiles that looked like screws to the security cameras.
“You think they’re counting each screw when none of them even know what your arm can actually do? Not like Zola is physically around anymore,” Tony mutters, holding a screwdriver in his mouth.
“What’s your plan for escape?”
“Element of surprise, my dear Watson.”
“Don’t like that,” Barnes mutters. “What’s your plan once we’re out?”
“New York City.”
“That’s it?”
“You underestimate exactly how much you can hide,” Tony says. “Believe me. We’ll live in an apartment in Queens.”
Rhodey is about ten minutes away.
Tony and Bucky have eventually decided to break out, and are having a lovely time shooting a base and putting people through the walls. Really, they shouldn’t have made it out of drywall. Too easy.
“What fucking vehicle are we taking?!” Barnes yells.
“I...I will work on it!”
“You didn’t think about that?!”
“I was thinking about escaping from a shitty Hydra base!”
Here comes the sedan!
Rhodey thought there was only one person, so now the ex-assassin is sitting on his little sister’s school folder, and getting pink glittery on his military pants.
This was not the plan.
He is also still only going five over the speed limit, because this is Mama’s sedan.
He forgot about the little sticker at the back that says “My Son is on the Honor Roll at MIT!”
“Rhodey love of my life, please go faster than forty miles an hour,” Tony hisses.
“I can’t believe you’re alive, let me do one thing at a time,” Rhodey stresses. “I bought you hot fries, they’re on the floor in the green bag.”
“You thought of road trip snacks?” Bucky asks.
“Yes! And who are you?”
“Bucky Barnes.”
Rhodey whips his head around.
“You lived?”
“I’ve been told. Eyes on the road and turn left.”
One tire barely is on the road as he whips the wheel, slamming onto the curb.
“We are not allowed to fuck my mama’s car up!” Rhodey yells. “Tony, Bucky...do whatever you have to.”
“How amenable are you to me paying for a new back window?” Bucky asks, left arm already raising.
“What do you mean-?”
And...there goes a projectile!
After twenty minutes of driving around, ten of that being avoiding police blockades, they finally are out on the highway, no one in sight.
Tony finally breathes.
“Put on your seatbelt,” Rhodey murmurs. “To New York?”
“To New York.”
By all accounts, the table of three men who look slightly rattled and in danger is not actually the worst table that waitress has ever had.
In fact, the only odd thing that she’s going to say about it is that the young man on the left is wearing a polo shirt, and it is not Sunday, so no church services. A personal outfit choice.
The man in the middle seems to know this.
“Rhodey, seriously?”
“What? It’s laundry day!”
“I know you had other shirts. I know you did.”
“Just because you hate polo shirts doesn’t mean you get to hate on me, especially after the shit I just pulled.”
“He has a point,” says the man on the right.
“You have no opinion on this. I just met you.”
“Are you guys ready to order?” She asks nervously, tapping at her notepad with a chewed-up pen.
They all stare blankly at the menu, and then back at her. She taps her pen one more time.
“I’ll...um...give you some more time.” She shakes her head. She’s not gonna ask, she doesn’t get paid enough.

Rhodey looks at the two of them. He knows that things...well.
Tony probably isn’t going to be playing Jeopardy! with this experience.
Hell, he probably won’t want to see a therapist about this, and Rhodey will have to play Jeopardy! or some obscure dating show simulation with Tony to even help.
And then there’s the matter of a man who’s supposed to be dead.
That and...Rhodey decided to finish up college with a master’s degree.
No one ever said life was easy.
But.
It might be fun.
