hiiii!!! i love www so far, i think you’re doing such a good job <3 my fav rn is tim, but i wanted to ask who’s ur fav? and which batboy are you most excited to write about?!! can we get a sneak peek into some of your plans long term 🥹 only if you’re comfortable! i feel very inspired and i wanted to know some of your creative writing process for www/in general 🫶
POINTS AT SCREEN! Anon I love you!! If you write anything that's inspired by me you HAVE to tag me okay??!!! Non-negotiable!!! Also I love Tim too, I think I gravitate towards him most because he just screams late-diagnosed autism and he's a fellow high school dropout lmfao. But having a fav? No, we don't do that here. My fav changes hourly, minutely? Idk but rn I'm writing Grayson's introduction and his confused but loving ass is melting me. But I have scenes I'm bouncing off the walls for all of them. Thelma + Louise by Bastille chapter you are so loved <3 <3
Also!! Plans!! Long term!!!! Ahhhh, I'm feeling less and less like spoiling the big things, because I'm actually managing to write regularly and I really didn't think I would. But what I am willing to share... hm. So far there are 4 arcs (but they're almost more like books or parts...??? they're very very long D:) planned, built around mostly the different phases in your relationship. It's the love-hate, love-hate wave. Friends to enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers again lmfao. There also might be a 5th arc because I'm not exactly sure how I want the fic to end just yet. The yandere stuff only becomes an acknowledged thing at the end of part 1, and even then reader is very oblivious throughout part 2. So we've got a girl who is in denial almost as much as the guys. 'Okay they might, MIGHT be obsessed with me (might) but they're not in love with me. that's silly.' I may not have a favourite boy but I definitely have favourite arcs and it is 2 and 4. You will see why.
The document itself, not just the published parts is at 50k, which is 20k extra. Also, I have 169 tidbits done, hopefully we can condense and merge them because oh my fucking god 169 chapters is genuinely absurd. worryingly absurd. lets hope we never get to that point. Even if it is the sex number, I'm not doing it. Also I don't know what my creative process is I don't really remember things lmfao.

A request...
Dunno if this has been done already but A self aware Azul, Trey, and Lilia reacting to the player saying they "had a bad day but seeing them made it much better".
Let me know if this is confusing and you're free to not answer of course
Self-aware au
I do not take any responsibility for you reading this no matter which age group you are from!
WARNINGS: Yandere themes, obsessive behavior, unhealthy behavior, mentions of blood, mentions of war, death, bad cringe humor bc I haven't written for a while
Trey Clover/ Azul Ashengrotto/Lilia Vanrouge-"Seeing you made my day better!"
Tumblr media
Oh, are you alright?
The second you returned to them, Trey could tell that something was wrong with you
A bad day perhaps?
If he could talk to you he would sit you down to talk about what (or who) ruined your day (whilst secretly planning their demise but pshh)
But then you suddenly stare at the screen and drop something like that at him? Whew... I-I think he is swooning
He almost forgets that you are having a horrible time before all of this until he finally sees you having a strained expression once more before going off
Oh ok. This is fine. This is totally fine. Haha... TOTALLY FINE
Like, imagine my mans expression
He feels honored that you feel and think that way about him but at the same time...
Bro over here can't really help
He tries to be as present as possible after that
(Toatally not like a cat throwing itself on your lap for attention)
In his mind, the more present he is the better you feel
(Not like peeps play games to escape reality but sure, if Trey wants to see himself as your emotional aspirin then sure)
But perhaps his attention really helped, perhaps something good just happened that got you in a good mood
So when you finally said that seeing him made your day so much better it felt like the sun was peeking out from behind the clouds after a long storm
Well, luckily he didn't need to conspire with Draconia to get you here anymore
But then again, if what you said was true then him being with you would keep you happy all the time, right?
Oh what he does for his go-I mean his uncrowned ruler
Tumblr media
This brings back a lot of dark memories for him
And I mean that literally
His memories of these days are filled with him sitting in a dark corner of his little pot
Only with the difference that for him his ray of light was food, for you it… is whatever this is
It does surprise him though
You, the high scholar, wisest of the wise, were more human than he imagined you to be
Well, to be fair, it was easy to imagine you as that unfeeling being that hovered over all of them
Day after day did the octopus see you do whatever you came to do and then go again
Although… you always made sure to check on him whilst having that faint smile on your face
How sweet. Doesn’t make him worry any less though
Until one day you finally tell him that seeing him made your day better
Wow… how is he supposed to react to that?
His inspiration for everything he does sees him in that light
This totally won’t get to his now. Naw. I have no idea what you are talking about
Continue to tell him that. Tell him how much his presence makes you happy
And if you should look in the direction of some unfortunate NPC that unknowingly made you laugh he will see red
Interesting, his cane looks a bit red as well. The handle area should be cleaned again… why is it so sticky?
Tumblr media
Lilia is not amused
Sleep deprived, yes, but not amused
Oh why that? Well, this father decided to pray even more to you in order to cheer you up
Now, if you know anything about Lilia in this au then you also know how religious he is, so him praying even more? Uh… perhaps he gets two hours of sleep at best
You are his god so surely you hear his words, asking you why your expression is always so sad, so exhausted
STOP SHARPENING YOUR SWORD YOU OLD BAT THERE IS NO NEED TO START A HOLY WAR IN THE OVERSEERS NAME WTF MADE YOU EVEN THINK OF THAT SOLUTION??!
Anyways, if Lilia is not in a good mood, so is entire Diasomnia. He is more or less the dorms old and wise fairy grandmother who hands out advice like lollipops so when he is not in a good mood, so is nobody else
No matter what the local group of non-violent military trained guys do, they just can’t cheer up their usually oh so happy teacher and guide
Lilia reminds the NPCs of the dorm of a certain general they read about in the history books (but there is no way that could be Lilia)
Until one day he walks in like he is in a romance anime, looking up with sparkling eyes to the altar and thanking your statue for your favor
If this was any other dorm, he would have been send to the school therapist (oh yeah, they have a shrimp instead of that)
When asked by his son what happened Lilia just looks up, still with that weird look in his eyes, tells him that “I have finally been noticed by our grace”
Malleus is telling Sebek in the meantime to call for a doctor because it seems like their general just lost his last few marbles
What really happened was Lilia heads down dangling from who knows where, perhaps the cafeteria chandelier, and asking himself what could have made you so sullen the last few days
Until suddenly you zipped in, looked at him (probably once up to his knees and then down to his head whilst saying “Mhm. Looks good.”) and were like “Seeing you made my day better.”
That was the moment when Lilia lost his grip on the metal and fell face-first, thankfully it was already late so no one was present but if I got a coin every time he fell like that I would have one, which tells us how rarely that happens
How about you go to whatever NPCs that govern the other countries and warn them that there is a high low-key mad general who would start would annihilation if you so much as feel slightly sluggish
You know those people who need to hear compliments constantly so they don't go bananas? Yeah
Whoops. Seems like you complimented the uniform of Octavinelles uniforms after seeing one of their NPCs. Wonder what happened to that guy. He isn't attending his classes anymore, that's for sure

mick smut (if you’re open to it): you complain that your neck and shoulders are sore when you come home from work and mick offers to give you a massage. that doesn’t last long before you’re both in bed and well …
Note: I've only posted two big pieces with smut in them, and while I love reading it, I don't think I'm that good at writing it. Still, a blurb seems less daunting to post! Also, I have the worst shoulder/neck pain right now so...
Cw: reader has muscle pains, smut
The minute you got home, Mick could tell something was bothering you, "what's the matter, liebling?", he wondered, kissing your lips as Angie sat by your feet, waiting for your usual greeting, "my neck and shoulders hurt", you groaned, letting him take you in his embrace and rest there for a bit, "Oh, Angie, baby, mama will pet you, just-", you hissed, touching her snout briefly, "That's as much as I can right now, babygirl", you pouted.
"Go and have a warm shower, okay? I'll finish dinner and I'll be upstairs when you finish to give you a massage, how does that sound?", he added as you nodded.
When the shower stopped running, Mick cleaned his hands on the kitchen towell and headed to your shared bedroom, finding you in your towell, "I have this cream here, it's supposed to help", you showed him the pot as he gestured for you to lay down chest facing the mattress.
"I'm going to this on your back to make you feel better, okay? If I hurt you, let me know, liebling", he said sweetly before you nodded, pushing the towell away from your back so he could give you a massage, "I'm sorry you feel like this", he said sincerely, kissing your bare skin as he followed along with his hands, rubbing in the product as he whispered sweet nothings in your ear.
The sweet lingering touches turned into more as he started kissing around your shoulders and neck, his teeth nibbling on your earlobe, "we can try another ways to release endorphins and soothe the pain", he checked with you before flipping you over.
Arranging the pillows how he knew you would be the most comfortable, “if anything I do hurts you, let me know, okay?" he checked over once again as you pulled on his t-shirt, "take this off", you whispered, enjoying the show as he undressed all in one go.
He knelt on the mattress, his lips kissing from yout lips to your chest, his hands on your chest as his thumb grazed your boobs, making you take one of the hands you had in his hair and place it on your boob, "it feels really good here, it's a good distraction", you muttered as he squeezed, taking from the way you whined pleasurably that it was feeling good for you.
"All good?", he checked in, his hand going to the spot between your legs that ached to be touched, his fingers circling your clit has he groaned, feeling the wetness that had gathered there. You whimpered at the feeling of his fingers, testing how you should move your body to meet his movements, "don't worry, liebling, I'm going use my fingers here", he said as his thumb circled your entrance, your faint mutter of an affirmative answer urging him on, "you're doing so well for me, so so so good", he praised when he felt your hand looking for his, lacing your fingers together in his as his other hand continued its ministrations, adding a second finger when he saw how well you were responding to his touches, your moans and leg squirms indicating that you were close, "you can come whenever you want to, darling", he said, unlacing your fingers and going back to your nipples, hoping the extra stimulation would bring you over the edge.
"Mick, I'm going to cum", the words tumbled from you as you did, your eyes closed as your expression looked like pure bliss to your husband. When you opened your eyes, heat rose to your cheeks as you realised you came in a very short amount of time while Mick was still fully dressed, your eyes landing on his penis before he supported his weight on his arms on the mattress on either side of you to kiss your forehead.
"It doesn't hurt that much, if you're willing to do most of the work, I'll be fine", you giggled, pulling his hips to meet yours, his arms supporting his body on either side of yours so he could finally slide inside you, his thrusts building their speed as Mick held you closely to his body, kissing your lips and mumbling praises to eachother, “I love you”, he muttered into the skin, "you're always so good to me", you groaned back as you felt his high coming soon.
Moving his hand to your clit, Mick circled the bundle of nerves to get you there too, feeling your walls squeeze him as he muttered announcement that he was close, the both of you cumming as his hand moved to caress your tummy.
A few minutes after, Mick scooted away from you so he could face you, "Did it help in anything?", he said as he caressed your cheeks, his lips going straight to your lips to steal a peck, "I feel really good, better than any painkiller", you giggled as you snuggled further into his chest, "thank you handsome".

As a sapphic myself, how could I not write a bit about the cutest lesbian couple (almost) on the qsmp?
The day Bagi got picked for Team Soulfire was one of the best days of her life, that she remembered at least. That Eye guy must really be homophobic because Bagi was going crazy with not being able to see the adorable girl that had so captured her heart.
Bagi picked the last of her supplies into her backpack, shouldering it quickly. There was no telling when her former teammates who had got chosen for Red could show up, and she wasn’t keen on finding out if the Green Gay spirit would grant her immunity from her former team.
Plus the sooner she saw Tina the sooner she could find happiness in this cruel horrible world of Purgatory.
Bagi smiled as the sun beat down on her face, soaking up the sounds and smells of the jungle one last time. The spicy hint of cacao, the distant squawk of a parrot, the gentle mist kissing her face, the earthy loam beneath her feet, and the far off crashing of waves against a sandy shore.
With spirit determined, she marched forwards towards the sounds of the waves.
Admittedly, she did in fact tense up a little bit when she saw the terror of the island Badboyhalo, who was doing figure eights in a motorboat (on the beach), but considering she already knew he was coming down to pick her up she wasn’t too surprised.
“BAGIIIII” Bad yelled when he saw her coming from the dense woods.
“BADDDDD!!” Bagi couldn’t help smiling at the sight of her dear friend, and she jogged forward to greet him.
Bad’s eyes narrowing in a manner that Bagi had come to associate with mischief, and as she approached, she noticed him type something out on his communicator.
Bagi stopped in front of him, leaning her hand on her hip. “Ok, whaaat are you typi- OOF”
Her sentence was cut short with a loud impact to her back, causing the Brazilian to fall onto the sand. The confusion only lasted a few seconds because with the impact came a high pitched happy squealing and even though it had been a week, Bagi would know that sound anywhere. “TINAAAAAAAAAAA”
The weight on her back shifted, and Bagi turned over in the sand, not minding the beach sand that was getting into her hair. In front of her, was her beloved-
Woah wait were those abs????
Bagi gawked at the crop top exposing Tina’s midriff. Where once was soft squishy belly, not that Bagi was specifically ever checking Tina out haha never…, were now sharply defined and well tanned muscles.
Bagi could hardly breathe as she tore her eyes away, face bursting into heat. It really didn’t help that as she did so she caught sight of the lean muscle now attached to Tina’s arms, and the pretty tan that the other girl had gotten.
Speaking of the other girl-
“Oh my god. What was I THINKING. Why did I DO that? I literally do not even know why I did that Bagi I am SO sorry. Ohhh god this is so embarrasssiiinngggg. Oh my god let me help you up.”
As Tina talked anxiously, Bagi could feel her senses returning, and briefly registered the shi- the muffin-eating grin on Bad’s face.
“Wow Tina I can’t believe you ATTACKED poor Bagi! I’m so sorry, I guess she doesn’t want you on our team!” Bad said far too cheerfully.
“Shut up you FREAK!” Tina yelled at the…vampalien?
“Freak??” Bad scoffed pompously, “I take offense to that! Bagi get your dog under control!”
“YOU’RE THE D-“
BONK
“OW!”
“DON’T MESS WITH TINA!”
Bad grumbled, rubbing his head, expression that of a kicked puppy. “Such violence! I cannot believe you would hit me, and with a cooking pot of all things!”
Bagi hefted the weight of the pot in her hands “Yeah, well I don’t have my frying pan, so this will do!”
“Wait, you have a cooking pot? Oh my god we should totally make a dinner for each other tonight!” Tina said, grasping Bagi’s arm with stars in her eyes.
Bagi stared. Tina’s face, while slightly cut in bruised from the trials of literally existing in purgatory, was gorgeously sun kissed, a faint tan spread evenly across her complexion that spoke tales of working in the sun.
“Um. Errrr. Yeah. Do you have any ingredients?” Bagi managed to get out.
Tina smirked proudly. “Ingredients? Girl, I’m like, the co-leader of the entire farm! I could get you anything! Anything for you Bagi!”
Bagi grinned, heart fluttering. “Then let’s have a nice dinner tonight. Might as well enjoy something in this hellish place!”
“Could I co-“
“No.”

YOU GET THE VISION! KAI IS EREN GERDA IS MIKASA!!
The Snow Queen herself might be Ymir Fritz! Please I beg of you tell me everything you thought about it
Okay, I am ready. I have enough of the seeds to have a roughly coherent idea of this could go in a fic setting.
Now, to begin, I am awkward about magical realism. I enjoy it in fiction but I am never sure how to incorporate it myself (which is actually kind of silly when I think about it because I think my original story I'm very slowly chipping away at might be classified as magical realism. But, I digress!), but I like the idea of handling an eremika Snow Queen au as a modern au with a touch of magical realism. I do want Eren to still be pierced with magical mirror shards. I do want Mikasa's tears to warm his heart back up. But, I also really want them in Vegas.
Anyhow. So, let's say we begin with the hobgoblin. I think we should just make him a gambler who happens to own a cursed mirror. He uses it to help him gamble somehow. I think maybe it can penetrate people's poker faces by amplifying negativity (for instance, their negative feelings about their cards). I think maybe he wears it as a charm on a pendant, so it's not very big but he can play with it and kind of peek at people through it during games.
Of course, this ruse can only go on so long, and someone at the Winter Palace casino (eh? eh?) finally catches onto his tricks. They take him up to the roof to scare him and rough him up a bit. They don't kill him but they do take his mirror and grind it to dust beneath their heels. Then, the wind gusts by and sweeps all the pieces away, scattering them about.
Eren and Mikasa, little Kai and Gerda, are young adults by this time. Childhood friends, perhaps, who are making shy advances towards becoming lovers. They do their little white rose and red rose in the same pot thing and it's all very sweet and pure between them. Let's say they live somewhere with seasons but not too far from Las Vegas. I'm going to put them near Lake Tahoe, I think. So, it's a bit of a journey, but not too bad. Plus, then Eren would have a reason to be in Reno, where he would run into the Snow Queen. I'm getting ahead of myself. They live around the Lake Tahoe area. Eren gets a grain of mirror in his eye and a sliver in his heart. It begins to reflect all the negative feelings about himself and all the negative traits in others. He becomes withdrawn and angry and lashes out at people, including Mikasa.
One day, he goes to Reno with some of the guys. Maybe for a birthday party. They're there to gamble or whatever. I don't think they're legal drinking age but they bring a few handles to pregame in their room and also carry flasks to keep drinking while they're out on the town. Eren gets wasted and belligerent. He goes off alone and starts wandering around, looking for trouble. He winds up in front of the Reno Winter Palace, where he starts a fight with someone. Maybe it's one of Ymir Fritz's lackeys. In any case, she sees him from her car as she arrives to check in on her second casino and has her driver wait for a moment. She watches him bleat the ever-loving shit out of this guy and then rolls down her window, stopping the security team from grabbing Eren and motioning him over to her towncar.
"Get in," she says in a cold, glittering voice that brooks no argument.
He does, and she smiles at him and says, "I am looking for a new bodyguard. I think you would be perfect."
He isn't sure, but there's something about her that he feels he can't fight. He thinks briefly of Mikasa, but then Ymir kisses him on the forehead and all his doubts and reluctance vanish. I think we should see her applying her lipstick a lot (and maybe see faint lipstick marks on her other close employees' foreheads? Or, see her hire someone else and also kiss their forehead. idk). We won't admit it has any kind of magical properties but she will say it's made especially for her and that having the right lipstick can make a woman feel more powerful than a snowstorm. Or something like that.
Anyway, they go down to the Winter Palace in Vegas, where Eren is always at Ymir's side. Maybe she takes something away from him (his phone, maybe? So no one can call him? And his wallet and keys?) and locks it up in a safe and tells him that when he can work out the combination, he can take his possesions and go whenever he wants. These are her terms of employment because she's weird.
No one knows where Eren has gone. They wonder if he drunkenly fell in the river (OH MY GOD I didn't even consider the Truckee river when I chose the setting! I was just like, "Yeah, let me get them near some casinos." This is so perfect! Okay, so Eren and Mikasa live near Tahoe in Truckee so she can easily go to the river and do her thing) and died. When he doesn't turn up and they can't get him on his phone and can't trace his credit cards, they go ahead and make that the official story. Mikasa is heartbroken and, when the weather is warm, goes out to the river and throws her most precious red possession (the scarf Eren gave her- his last gift before he turned mean) into it and begs the river to take it in exchange for him. She knows this is silly but she is grieving and desperate. The scarf floats back to the shore and she gets upset and climbs into a rowboat nearby. It's tied to a post (she thinks) so she plans to just paddle out a little but and chuck the scarf in again, but the rope unravels from around the post (it was not tied) and the rowboat drifts away. She's like, "You know what, fuck it. Maybe I'll float down this river and find his body and at least then I'll know." So she lies down in the rowboat and stares up at the sky and wonders where he could be.
She is jarred when the boat runs aground (?) and stops floating. She sits up and finds herself outside someone's little homestead where they also run a flower nursery. The witch brings her in and cleans Mikasa up while Mikasa tells her about Eren and how she can't really believe he's dead. The witch says something about how maybe he's not and Mikasa should trust her gut, but she also gets her high to cheer her up and keeps her high, so Mikasa loses her urgency to find him. She spends most of her time helping the witch in her greenhouse and loses track of time passing. Then, they take mushrooms and Mikasa finds herself having an imaginary conversation with the flowers and the roses specifically start telling her Eren isn't dead because they don't see him under the ground and she remembers what the witch said about following her gut and is like, "I need to keep looking for him. I have to know."
Mikasa takes the witch's old truck and leaves, heading down to Vegas because that's where her gut tells her to go, stopping at roadside diners to eat and showing people pictures of Eren and asking if anyone has seen him. Someone thinks that they might have seen him at the Belvada Hotel in Tonopah (I googled resort hotels in Nevada and thank goodness there's one between Reno and Vegas). He has recently married the proprietor. Mikasa is kind of like, "Oh, okay. So he got married, but at least he's alive, I guess?" and keeps on going down the highway.
In Tonopah, she runs into a free-spirited, vagrant artist type who tells her he knows the couple who runs the hotel. His girlfriend works there as a maid. They're not going to let Mikasa in because all the rooms are booked and she looks kind of scummy because she's barefoot and wearing shorts, a bikini top, her scarf which she fished out of the river, and a flannel shirt she took out of the truck, but he'll see if his gf can get her in the back when it's not too busy.
So, that evening, Mikasa goes in the hotel and they let her in to the room where the newlyweds are sleeping. Why would they be so weird about it? Idk. I guess maybe Mikasa just wants to look at him and make sure he's alive and then leave without him seeing her because he feelings are hurt. Anyway, she sees the back of his head, believes it's him, and can't stop herself from trying to wake him. When he turns around, it's not Eren and she's like, "Fuck, I'm so sorry!" His wife wakes up and they're both put off at first but then she starts to cry and explains her story and they take pity on her. They giver her some better clothes and trade their nice second car for her beat up old truck because the husband likes to work on cars, and they send her on her way.
Nearing Vegas, she stops at another gas station, and that's where she comes across the robbers. Let's make them a motorcycle gang? They see how nice her car and her clothes are and how pretty she is and are thinking maybe they'd like to do some things to her (😡) and the old lady who leads them is laughing about it, but her daughter is like, "Nah, you all have no business sense. You want to use her up yourselves but I'm putting her on Only Fans." And she drags Mikasa off. Mikasa is not interested in being on Only Fans and she's like, "I really need to get going. I'm looking for my best friend." The robber girl is like, "Ugh, fine. Let's go to the bar and I'll get you a beer and you can tell me about it." It's a rough bar and Mikasa is nervous, but she tells the whole story, and a couple of the drunk old regulars are like, "Actually, I know where that guy is. He works for Ymir Fritz in Las Vegas." Another regular, who is a drug addict and the robber girl is his dealer so he pretty much does all her dirty work for free meth, is like, "I used to work in Vegas. I have connections there." The robber girl, who has been moved by Mikasa's plight, is like, "Okay, fine. You bring her to Vegas and help her out, and I'll reward you handsomely."
By the way, this is in Southern Nevada, which is not a super cold place, so we're going to have the AC blasting everywhere and making things chilly af. And, the AC will be unnaturally cold. Sometimes little flakes of ice drift from the vents, making little artificial snow flurries, and people bring winter coats just to go inside the casinos. Why did I set this in the desert? I guess to be contrary. I like that it's so opposite from the fairy tale.
The meth-addicted guy brings her to a showgirl he knows who is pretty familiar with everything that goes on in Las Vegas, and she's like, "Oh, yeah. Her new bodyguard. That guy is cold. He won't give anyone the time of day, he just hovers at the Snow Queen's side with a dark expression and dead eyes. They're always up in the penthouse, so they're impossible to reach unless you've got a way in. I know someone who might be able to help. I'll send you to her."
The woman they are sent to is a sculptor, and it's hot as hell in her workshop by her forge. She just happens to be delivering an art piece to Ymir the next day. After Mikasa tells her story, the woman tells her she can deliver it so she can get up to the penthouse and see her Eren. The guy asks her if there's anything she can forge for Mikasa that will help her have the strength to overcome these final hurdles, but the sculptor says nothing is stronger than Mikasa's love, and if that's not enough to bring Eren home, nothing she could make for her would help. The next day, the guy brings Mikasa and the sculpture to the Winter Palace casino and then goes back to the sculptor's place to see if he can get bus money back home and she makes him go to rehab instead.
In the Winter Palace, Mikasa has to insist again and again that she must deliver the package herself, that she's not to entrust it to anyone else. Finally, she makes it to the penthouse, which is almost as cold as a meatlocker and decorated in a snowlflake motif. Ymir is in her room, bathing or something, and Eren is alone in the main room, trying to solve the combination to the safe, which is a weird safe with a pad containing all the letters of the alphabet twice. Mikasa comes in and sees him and he is surprised to see her. He still has a smudge of lipstick on his forehead and he has been so long without the things that identify him (literally his state issued ID) and connect him to the rest of the world (his phone) that he has forgotten his old life and he is not quite sure who Mikasa is. She puts down the package and runs to him, though, throwing herself into his arms and sobbing. As the one anon suggested, she puts the scarf around Eren's neck because he feels so cold. And then she weeps. Her hot tears drip onto his shirt and soak through to his chest, where they melt his icy heart. This makes him cry, and, in rubbing the tears from his cheeks, he rubs his whole face, wiping away the lipstick mark and also the grit from the mirror that was in his eye, and he is himself again. He spins Mikasa around, laughing and kissing her, and as he's doing so he accidentally bumps into the safe with his calf. Somehow, his calf manages to press the code (the word, "Eternity") into the pad and the door springs open. Eren gets his things and grabs Mikasa's hands, running with her out of the cold, excessively air conditioned penthouse to the slightly less frigid casino proper, and then out into the hot desert air (which is actually not bad in winter, I think.)
Then they go back home to Truckee and get married and set up house in a little mountain cottage outside of town and are very happy together.
The end.
???????????????? Do you have any additions? Any of your own takes??? let me know!

MC Hears the Undateables Admit They Like Them to Someone Else
AN: Love this idea! Sorry about the title, I couldn’t figure out how to title this one. If anyone has a better idea let me know!! I tried to keep these relatively short because the first draft of them was way too long ;u;
Edit: I started Diavolo’s a long time ago and only just got around to finishing these now. Sorry for the wait <3
Solomon’s was difficult. I can’t see him confessing his feelings to anyone other than the subject of them, so sorry its kind of off-prompt.
Diavolo
He’d been working late when everyone was over in the castle and you decided to bring him tea and some nibbles to have, reminding him not to overwork himself. Barbatos passes you as you leave, smiling and giving you a nod by way of greeting you.
You pause when you get to the end of the hallway, fishing in your pockets and suddenly realising you’d left your DDD on the tray when you handed it to Diavolo. You’re quick to turn on your heels and head back for it - the brothers messaged often enough, and you wouldn’t hear the end of it if you missed one of Mammon’s calls. It was worth the embarrassment of having to go back in and tell Diavolo you’d left your phone behind than dealing with the headache you’d end up with otherwise.
You’re about to tap the door when Barbatos says your name, and you wonder briefly if he’s just found your DDD and is talking about that, but the tone he was using sounds off. He’s amused, the same tone he used when you scolded one of the brothers and he was trying not to laugh behind a gloved hand.
“You must really admire them,” Barbatos smiles. You peak in through the gap of the door, and see Diavolo with his face in his hands. He lets out a laugh, sitting up straight to grin at Barbatos. Your heart jumps in your chest.
“Of course.” Diavolo’s voice has all the confidence and charm of a natural born leader, but the blush on his face defies it. “I am... very fond of them.”
It didn’t sound like simply admiration, the way he said it, the way his fingers brushed over his mouth and chin thoughtfully before he takes a sip of the tea you’d left for him. He smiles into his cup, and you see him notice your DDD.
“Ah, Barbatos, can you return this to them? And tell them again that I’m very grateful for their presence here.” Diavolo holds up your phone, chuckling at the chocolate lizard charm you still have on it. You face heats up, and you turn on your heels and rush off down the corridor before Barbatos can realise you’ve heard the entire conversation. When he returns the phone to you later, he has a knowing glint in his eyes, but doesn’t say anything other than what Diavolo had instructed him to. You blush and thank him, and wonder what to do now.
[[More under the cut]]
---
You’re at the final ball that will be held in Diavolo’s castle before you have to return to the House of Lamentation when Diavolo himself holds out his hand to you, invites you to dance with him. You accept right away, sitting your glass down and ignoring the glare Mammon and Belphie shoot at you.
You’ve been practicing hard for this dance, and as you twirl around with Diavolo, you see that now-familiar admiration glowing in his eyes. Your gaze darts away and you lick your lips. You have to say something now, he’s going to be busy soon and you have to leave in the morning. This is your last chance.
He notices your nervousness and comes to a stop in the center of the ballroom, allowing the other pairs to continue dancing around you two. You look up at him, smile, swallow.
“I am very fond of you, Lord Diavolo,” you tell him, and watch as he mulls over it, tries to process what you’re actually trying to tell him. It finally clicks, and his eyes widen.
“Ah. You heard my conversation with Barbatos earlier, then?” he asks, face betraying nothing. His fingers twitch against your waist, and he pulls you back into the dance.
“I... I left my phone behind, and I was coming back to get it. I didn’t mean to overhear anything.” You’re starting to feel bad, now. Had you misinterpreted his words earlier? Was it really only admiration he felt for you, because of the changes you’d made for his people and your own? No. There had been something more in it.
The second time you come to a stop, you steel yourself and look up at him, putting as much feeling into your words as you could without choking on them.
“I like you,” you tell him, and he pauses, eyes searching your own. “Do you like me too?”
His expression breaks then, and he looks so relieved and happy you’re almost overwhelmed by it until he sweeps you up into a hug. You can hear Mammon yell somewhere, off to the side, as Diavolo presses a kiss to your forehead.
“I do, MC.”
Barbatos
Barbatos was in the castle’s kitchen when you entered at 6am for a glass of water, the energy of the day still flowing through you and refusing to let you sleep well. You greet him politely and, after getting your water, ask if he needs any help - he seems to be preparing the breakfast for the morning, and there was a lot of it, what with having to prepare for Beel nevermind everyone else.
“Not at all. You are a guest here, MC. I couldn’t possibly ask you to work,” Barbatos smiles. He looks tired, you realise. He usually hid it well, but he seemed to be jumping between washing up and cooking, and his steps had no bounce to them.
You pull on an apron without asking again, and take the rubber gloves by the sink.
“Nonsense,” you tell him. “I’ll do the washing up, you can focus on the cooking. We’ll get it done faster if there are two of us here.”
You end up being right. Aside from the sound of cutlery and pots clanking, the room is comfortably quiet, and when you finish washing the last few pots you turn around and see that Barbatos has a cup of tea ready for you. You accept it gratefully, leaning against the counter beside him as you two drink. You’d never felt so comfortable in silence before, not before you met Barbatos.
You’re quick to leave after thanking him, knowing Asmo will huff if he knows you woke up and left without him. As you leave the kitchen, Diavolo drops in to check that everything is ready. He pats your shoulder as he passes, thanking you for helping Barbatos, and you blush and nod.
You realise that you probably should have helped set the dishes out so that Barbatos didn’t have to keep going between the kitchen and the main hall, and with some time still left before the others are supposed to wake up, you jog back towards the kitchen.
“If you want to tell MC,” you hear Diavolo laugh, and you pause. You weren’t  familiar with that tone and wanted to know what it meant. “I would be delighted to attend your wedding.”
You huff out a startled laugh, and the kitchen goes silent. Barbatos opens the door not a second later, and you don’t know what to do or how to react. You can see Diavolo behind him, who looks between the two of you, amusement and concern warring on his face. You speak without thinking.
“I’m not sure about marriage right away. How about a date, first?”
Diavolo laughs, then, and Barbatos sighs before breaking out into a smile.
“That sounds delightful, MC.”
Solomon
You were supposed to help Solomon prepare dinner for the others at Purgatory Hall today, per Simeon’s request - Simeon promised to take up your cooking duties at the House of Lamentation if you helped Solomon on his days, after having to secretly order in take out every week on the days Solomon prepared his... food? It didn’t feel right to call it that.
You arrive early and let yourself in, familiar enough with the building by now. You could hear loud chatter before you could even get to the kitchen. Simeon, Solomon, and Luke were all talking, and it sounded almost like an argument.
“I just felt like you two could do with spending more time with them,” Simeon says, polite and calm as always.
“I don’t trust you around MC,” Luke says at the same time, and you can easily picture him pouting with his fists balled by his sides from here. You’re silent as you approach the kitchen.
Solomon sighs, and whilst his voice has a teasing lilt to it, he sounds wary. “Luke is right. If I see MC right now I might just ask them out.”
You round the corner then, and pause when you process what Solomon just said. Simeon and Luke see you first, and Solomon lowers his head.
“They’re behind me,” he mumbles, turning around to lock eyes with you. He grins, lopsided and genuine. “What do you say, MC? Why don’t we leave these two and go on a date?”
“We have to make dinner,” you say dully, unsure if he’s joking or not. You’re not sure how their conversation ended up like this.
Solomon doesn’t falter at all, just ushers the other two out of the room. Its the look that Simeon gives you that confirms things for you.
“We can go on that date after, if that’s alright?”
Solomon grins again and throws an arm around you, ignoring Luke’s protests. “I’d love to.”
Simeon
Simeon brings Luke over to the House of Lamentation for movie night, and Luke clings to you half the time, talking excitedly in whispers as he tells you what he’s been up to lately - new recipes he’s trying, his success with one of them which Beel immediately wolfed down, how he got to spend time with Barbatos recently, and so on. You’re listening to him more than the movie up until you decide to take a break and get up to get drinks and snacks for everyone. Luke and Simeon follow, Simeon wanting to help and Luke not wanting to be left with the brothers on his own.
You go into the kitchen on your own, asking the two to stand outside because it was a mess in there from an incident earlier and everyone had abandoned cleaning it until after movie night. You hear faint mumbling outside as you stack up glasses on a tray, but its hard to make out the words.
“You’re having fun getting to spend time with MC, right?” Simeon asks.
“Mmhmm! I have to protect them from those demons whilst we’re here!” Luke says excitedly. You don’t hear what he says next, until he suddenly pipes up with, “You have to tell them you like them so we can convince them to move over to Purgatory Hall with us.”
You drop the glass you’re holding, and it shatters on the floor. The door opens immediately, Simeon rushing in and telling you not to move as he holds Luke back. He grabs a dustpan and you crouch down to pick up the larger shards, face red. You spare a glance at Simeon’s face and see that he’s blushing too, and, unable to hold it in, you start giggling. Simeon starts as well, dumping the glass in the bin. Luke takes the tray with the rest of the glasses, confused by the situation, and you and Simeon lift the bags of snacks and drinks.
On the way back to the common room, you glance up at Simeon, smirking.
“So, when are you going to ask me to move in, then?”
He jolts, surprised, and sheepishly smiles at you. “We can start with a date this weekend, if that suits you?”
“It’ll do for now,” you grin.
Luke
Luke scenario is very similar to Simeon’s, except after he promises to protect you from all the demons, he admits that you feel like a sibling to him. You open the door and hug him around your tray, and from that day forward Luke is your little brother whom you’d do anything for.

⊱ ──────ஓ๑♡๑ஓ ────── ⊰
Dragonspine was never in their bucket list of places to visit. It was deadly cold. Monsters roamed around. Even the Fatui were presented. [Y/N] was surprised how he managed to reached the campus set out by the Chief Alchemist further up the mountain. One would think he would camp out with the group based at the bottom of the mountain. He was a skilled swordman and his vision kept him warm throughout the difficult journey as best as it could. He did broke a sweat when fighting a few monsters but all that was important was his destination. Thus meeting Albedo, the genius Kreideprinz. [Y/N] was new to the Knight of Favonius, started back a few weeks ago. Today he was ordered by the Acting Grand Master to assist the Captain of the Investigation Team in one of his experiments. Or alternatively, Jean worried about the alchemist not taking care of himself and potentially risking failed experiments turn to unwanted results in Dragonspine and Mondstadt.
It was his order to check on the man. But, by the Archons, does he had to camp this far up. [Y/N] groaned when he reached a broken bridge. How was he going to get to the other side? Ah, right. Gliding. With a good running start, he could jump just high enough and glide his way to the other half of the fallen bridge with no added injuries. A flawless plan.
Not.
A scream left his lips when he jumped as best as he could after his run. No wonder he did terrible at mathematics. His calculations were off. And now, he was going to pump down to his end. Just to check on some big-time, smart guy. [Y/N] should had decline. But he wanted to prove himself. For what now? Prove he can see the light firsthand? What a joke. He reached out, his hand inches away from the other broken part of the bridge. He was so focus on reaching something to grab on he didn't hear his own scream leave his mouth nor the abrupted tug on his hand held by another. He came to his senses when he smacked against the wall under the brigde harshly, letting out a groan. [Y/N] looked up. [E/C] eyes met bright teal eyes. Such beautiful eyes. It felt like he was staring into emerald instead. They outshined the blues around Dragonspine. Like sun if the clouds ever go away.
"Are you only going to keep staring or help me pull you up?" He heard, the soothe voice snapping [Y/N] out of their thoughts. A blush bloomed on his face as he cleared his throat, using his other hand to keep himself firm in their hold.
"S-Sorry..." [Y/N] mumbled as he was pulled up. Solid, cold ground was what he felt right away. He looked over his shoulder, grimacing at the sight of the long fall he could had experienced first and last. Cursing the fall away, the knight turned back to his savior, about to thank them until he stopped himself. Upon closer look, his savior was... handsome. Their ashy light blonde hair reached below their shoulders, pulled back in a braided ponytail. It lookes adorable. Soft, even. It makes him want to run his fingers through it. Realizing he was staring again, [Y/N] cleared his throat as he shook his head, his blush increasing in color. Eyes darted to stare at the ground instead. "Uh, thank yo-you... Thank you for saving me back there." The knight said with a small smile, looking back his savior only to see them walk away already. "What?" [Y/N] sat there forzen, not believing what happened. He chuckled weakly, now pissed for the rude manner. "Hey, wait up!" He stood up from the ground, dusting himself off from any snow as he ran up to catch up to the mystery person. "You know, it's really rude to jusf walk away like that!" [Y/N] complained, slowing down as he came up to a campsite. His eyes widen a bit. There were bookshelves lined up again the walls of the cavern. Tables filled with written pages and materials. A small set of art supplies in one area and an crafting table by his side. Did his savior lived here? Wait, was this...?
"Are you the Captain of the Investigation Team, Albedo?" The knight said, walking up to the alchemist who simply nodded with no reply. He was focused on his work, [Y/N] could see that. "Oh okay..." He muttered underneath his breath, raising a brow. Well, here he was. The alchemist looked alright. There was no sight of any failed experiments. Mondstadt was good to stay for another day. But [Y/N] wasn't leaving yet. "My name is [F/N]. I was ordered by the Acting Grand Master to check on you... Which is why I'm here..." Albedo only gave a faint hum. What a conversationalist. "Okaaay..." The young man looked around. He couldn't just leave after what he just experienced. He was still shaky.
"Where are you from?" [Y/N] asked, attempting to make a conversation.
"Here and there." Albedo replied bluntly.
"What do you do?"
"This and that."
"You ever-"
"Now and then."
"Gosh, you're just full of information." [Y/N] grumbled, crossing his arms over his chest.
"And you're just full of interruptions." Albedo fired back, finally looking away from his work and turned to the knight. His expression was stoic but his beautiful emerald eyes held a hint of annoyance. His comment made the other man pouted and rolled his eyes. "You done your quest. Now, you may leave."
"What the-? Huh?" He couldn't believe it. He was being kicked out? Reasonable, actually. But still. What a rude alchemist. "Okay, look, I have to actually make sure you're okay and Jean said to stay for a few days before I return, anyway." [Y/N] explained. Albedo sighed softly, disinterested from the interaction. The knight clicked his tongue. "So, no, I'm not leaving." The knight huffed, head held high. Albedo hummed again, already looking back at his work. "Oh my- really?" [Y/N] shook his head, running a hand through his hair. He kept studying the area they were in, trying to locate any sort of self-care going on. There was a cook pot but the burned woods look as if it had went out hours ago. "How long had you been working?"
Albedo shrugged, papers being moved around in his area. [Y/N] sighed. He went to stand beside the table, inches away from him to not disturb his work. With the closeup, [Y/N] saw fainted dark circles under his eyes. He looked a little pale, too.
"Have you eaten at all? Rest?" He asked softly, a frown on his face. His gloved hands rest on his waist. [Y/N] looked like a parent scolding their child. Albedo shrugged again. The knight groaned, head tilted back. The lack of responses were starting to pissed him off. "I'll make you something." He grumbled, looking into his traveling bag as he walked over to the pot. Using his Pryo vision, he watched the flames come to alive once more. He pulled out pre-packaged ingredients he made himself before he set off.
Albedo's concentration was fully on his project but the smell of a delicious meal wandered around his nose. It pulled him out of his priority. The scent made his stomach growled. The Geo user stopped what he was doing and turned around. His eyes spotted the knight crouched down beside the pot, stirring around the contents it cooked. The flames illuminated the small cave, the knight's face glowed from it. Hair swayed back, half-lidded eyes stared boredly at the pot. Soft lips pressed into a thin line. It was a pretty sight. A perfect picture. A gorgeous paint on a canvas. His canvas. The scenery needed to be painted in his canvas.
[Y/N] heard movements behind him but he didn't bother to look up. He figured the alchemist was still all over his experiments. Behind his back, Albedo set up his easel, an 18x24 canvas rest nicely on it. His paints, brushes, and palette laid beside him on a stool with a cup of water on it as well. He began to sketch out the sight, a concentrated frown on his face.
"Hmm... I think it's done." [Y/N] muttered to himself, smiling a bit at the cooked stew he made. He was about to get up but a shout stopped him.
"Don't move! I'm not done yet." He heard the alchemist. The Pyro user blinked, confusion written over his face. "Not done..." Albedo continued, his hand moving a brush around. [Y/N] swallowed, wondering what he was doing.
"Why can't I move?" He asked, still in the position.
"Because I'm not finish."
"Finish with what?"
"The painting... It's not finished..." Albedo trailed off, focusing more on the canvas. [Y/N] was dumbfounded. Ah, right. The alchemist had a set of art supplies. But why could he be painting? Was he painting him? He was just sitting around the cook pot, nothing else. What did he capture in his mind to had the urge to paint? So much questions ran through his head and his face rest back to how it was when the knight stared at the pot. Just what Albedo needed to complete his new piece.
Half an hour passed and the flames were small. the pot was sat beside it. No need to have burnt food. [Y/N]'s legs were starting to cramp.
"Are you do-"
"Done." Albedo finished for him, stepping back from his canvas. [Y/N] sighed in relief as he stood up and stretched his limps out, hearing a few joints popped. Surely didn't sounded good but felt good. He walked over to Albedo.
"Can I see, please?" He asked, tilting his head. Albedo stared at the canvas before shifting his eyes over to the knight. He suddenly felt flustered. What a foreign feeling. It was he was embarrassed. He was not embarrassed. His face felt warmed. Was he blushing? What was going on? [Y/N] waited for an answer, raising a brow as he sent a charming smile his way. Why did such a gesture made his chest tightened but in a good way? Like something fluttered inside him. Was his heart beat increasing? Impossible. Feelings were unfamiliar to him. So, why was he experiencing them right now? "Albedo..." His name rolled out of his mouth. It sounded perfect. Did he just noticed it?
"It's not finished..." Albedo replied quickly, throwing [Y/N] off guard.
"But you said-"
"It's not finished." Albedo repeated, clearing his throat. The knight nodded slowly.
"Okaay..." [Y/N] mumbled, looking back at the pot. "Ah, well, dinner is ready. C'mon, let's eat." He said, walking back at the pot to begin serving the meal for both. Albedo watched him, lips parted slightly. His teal eyes moved back to the canvas. Finished. It was finished. He just... didn't want to show the knight but why? It was beautifully painted. A pretty piece. The look he captured from the knight painted there. Admirable.
"Are you coming or what?" [Y/N] called out, already setting the other table for them to eat at. Albedo blinked and nodded a second later. He placed his brush and palette down, taking his gloves off as he made his way over. There they sat. In complete silence. It wasn't awkward, fortunately. It was comfortable atmosphere. No need to exchange words. Albedo seem to like that. Perhaps Jean did a good thing to sent someone out. It felt nice to have company over for once.

lonely this christmas
Tumblr media
Pairing: Spencer Reid x fem!Reader Warnings: mild mild cursing, mainly just fluff !!! Word Count: 2.9k Summary: Reader admits to Spencer she will be spending the holidays alone but he’s got other plans.
A/N: starting off the month of december with a christmas centred fic!! hope you like it <3
-
Being alone on Christmas wasn’t unfamiliar to Spencer. In fact it was pretty much the opposite. Being alone on Christmas was typical, ordinary.
The nature of his job being what it was, he usually ended up working over the holidays anyway. Therefore he never made any plans with his mom because most times he just ended up disappointing her. Being alone at Christmas was fine. Being a disappointment however, completely different story.
As years went by Diana stopped noticing his absence. Of course if Spencer was to visit her at the sanitarium over Christmas she would welcome him with open arms, but he never does. He used to feel incredibly guilty about it, but that too passed with time.
There was no indication that this year would be any different so he kept his schedule clear. However, the twenty-fifth of December approached fast. Very fast. The closer it got the more it was shaping to be the first holiday season, in a long time, the team would get to spend with their families. And even Spencer found himself considering going home to Nevada; seeing his mom.
A tab of the airline website was constantly open on his desktop. He checked it regularly; hovering over the option to buy a ticket.
That’s how you caught him one day.
You observed from your own desk as Spencer leaned back in his chair, one hand still holding the mouse. The wheels inside his brain clearly turning; evaluating all of the options and possible outcomes.
“Hey, doctor.” You called out grabbing his attention. “If you spend any more time thinking about whether you should go home for Christmas, all the good seats will be gone.”
He chuckled. “I guess you’re right.” “As always.” You shot him a playful wink as he turned to once again look at his screen.
“There. Bought.” Spencer exclaimed after a brief moment of silence. “My mom will be happy.” “When was the last time you seen her?” You asked curiously. “It has been more than six months at this stage.” He answered while standing up.
“Coffee?” He gestured to the empty mug on your desk. You nodded. “You read my mind.”
The two of you walked towards the kitchenette in the office. It was quite late on a Friday night meaning everyone had cleared out for the weekend. Only the usual suspects remained; Spencer and you.
“When was the last time you were home for Christmas?” “Three years ago. How about you?” Spencer asked, tilting his head slightly to look at you. “Oh, I honestly don’t even remember.” You replied shrugging your shoulders.
“So your family must have been happy to hear you were getting the chance this year to spend the holidays with them.” The brunette doctor switched on the coffee machine and leaned against the wall while you elegantly hopped up onto the counter.
“Actually, I didn't tell them.”
Spencer furrowed his eyebrows. “How come?”
He watched intently as you chewed on your bottom lip - a bad habit you failed miserably to break. In that second of silence you wondered whether you should tell him the truth. He was always so open with you, honest. It would only be fair to repay him with the same sincerity. So you took in a quick breath, and exhaled it quietly before looking up to meet his amiable gaze.
“My mom and I got into this huge fight a couple of weeks ago. She tried to set me up with this guy because in her eyes it’s unacceptable that I’m single. She doesn't think it’s right that my younger sister is getting married next summer and I haven't had one relationship in my life that lasted longer than a month.” A soft sigh escaped you. “I told her to butt out, using much harsher language than that of course.” Your mouth twirled into a smile; trying to make light of this conversation. Being no stranger to your frequent use of profanity Spencer smirked.
“We haven't spoken since. She hasn't formally invited me over for the holidays which she always does, even if she knows I won’t be able to make it, and whenever I bring it up with my dad or my siblings they change the topic so.” You shrugged once again while nervously dangling your legs. “It’s easier not to go.”
Spencer nodded slowly, taking in all of the information you just unloaded. Shaking your head you reached over to grab the coffee pot and poured some into your mug.
“I’m sorry doctor. I didn’t mean to just lay it all on you like that.”
He stepped towards you. “Don’t be.” Holding his own cup in front of him, he smiled kindly. “Thank you for telling me.” You began to pour the black hot liquid into his mug; a slight shake to your hand. “Thank you for listening.” “Anytime.”
Spencer placed his full cup on the counter beside you and began to rummage through the cupboards in search for sugar. “Y/N I gotta ask, and obviously if you don't want to answer me you don't have to.” He cleared his throat as you took a sip of your bitter black coffee. “Why didn’t you want to go on a date with the man your mom suggested?”
Once he successfully located the sugar, he straightened his shirt and plopped two cubes into the hot beverage. He offered you one but you shook your head, taking another sip.
“I get that it’s not really my place but it just seems a small price to pay for being able to spend Christmas with your loved ones.”
“If you must know doctor, I prefer to meet people through work. Prison systems and such.” You joked, a wide smile gracing your features. Spencer rolled his eyes. “And how is that going for you?” “Surprisingly well. I have a date shortly after we’re back from the Christmas break.” He arched his brow and smiled at you; playing along as you continued. “Solid guy. Only murdered five people.”
You beamed at the brunette doctor who was grinning back. “Maybe I should consider adding prisons to my dating pool.” You let out an over-exaggerated  gasp and placed your free hand over your chest. “Is doctor Spencer Reid really on the market?”
Spencer shook his head. His light curls bouncing finely, matching his every move. He lowered his lips to the brim of his mug and took a sip of his coffee before focusing on you. “No, but for the right girl I’d consider it.”
Without thinking you raised your free arm and adjusted his tie. Flattening down the edge of his collar, you could feel his eyes on you. Yet for some reason you were suddenly afraid to look up and meet his gaze. Strange. Or maybe not so strange.
“Lucky girl.” You said in a mere whisper. Letting your hand fall, you stepped off the counter with a light bounce. Spencer cleared his throat and the two of you walked back to your seats.
The next few hours were spent working in silence. You tried to focus on the mountain of paperwork on your desk, yet instead found yourself glancing at the young doctor every other second - secretly hoping he would also be peeking up at you. And he was. Just not when you were looking at him.
“Y/N if you want you can come with me to Nevada, spend Christmas with me and my mom. ” Spencer proposed out of the blue. He got up out of his chair and grabbed his jacket, slowly putting it on. You smiled at him. “Thank you doctor but I will honestly be okay alone.” Pause. “Plus, I wouldn't want to interfere.”
He was about to protest, say you wouldn't be interrupting, but he bit his tongue. He didn't want to seem pushy. “If you change your mind, let me know.” He reached for his bag and threw the strap over his head. “Just do it quickly or all the good seats will be gone.” He teased. You giggled. “I’ll be sure to keep that in mind. ”
The brunette agent hesitated. He swayed on his heel for a moment before approaching your desk. “Can I give you a ride home?” He asked, eyes locking with yours. “There’s still a couple of things I want to get done but thank you for the kind offer.” Spencer nodded. A faint look of disappointment appeared on his face. “Goodnight Y/N.” “Goodnight doctor.”
Christmas was upon you in the blink of an eye. On the last day before break the team exchanged Secret Santa presents before enjoying a pizza party. This year you had Penelope who squealed over her gift as everyone watched in amusement; you included. Resting against the wall, you observed as the blonde jumped around the room with joy. Her smile made you smile.
“Good job on Penelope’s gift.” Spencer appeared beside you holding two plastic cups filled to the brim with eggnog. He handed you one before making himself comfortable next to you, his arm pressed gently to yours. “I don’t know what you're talking about doctor.” You responded, tilting your head slightly to look at him.
“I like your Christmas sweater.” A small smile circled your lips as you reached out to flick the little bell sown onto the top of the Santas hat on his jumper. Spencer chuckled. “Thank you. You know, I really couldn't decide between this or the one with the Home Alone reference.” “Ah, the trusted Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal sweater.” “That would be the one, yes.” The two of you beamed at each other.
“I’m surprised you know what Home Alone is doctor.” You teased, nudging him playfully in the arm. Spencer laughed. “If I’m being honest, I was more intrigued by the booby traps than the plot of the movie.” He retorted as you sipped on the eggnog; slightly rolling your eyes at his response. “Of course you were. Don’t tell me you tested them out too?”
He averted his gaze without responding, clearly a little embarrassed. “Well...”
You couldn't help but giggle. Slowly, you leaned in towards him so that your lips were now at his ear. The brunette agent shivered as your hot breath hit his skin, however he didn't move away.
“Don’t worry doctor, I did too.” You whispered.
Instantly, he turned to look at you once again. His face was now inches away from yours, and as he stared oddly into your eyes the air caught in your throat. The two of you hovered right there for a moment, not moving and quite soundless, simply feeling each other's presence - as if there was no-one else in the room, no party.
Eventually you broke the eye contact and took a step to your right, moving away from him. Suddenly feeling timid, you took another sip of your beverage while your free hand ran through your hair. Spencer also looked away. His mind racing a million miles per hour; he should have kissed you, right? No. Not in front of all these people, your colleagues. That would be bad. Unprofessional. Would you have even wanted him to kiss you? Did you like him like that? He hoped you did.
The party soon drew to a close. You were lost in conversation with Emily while Spencer was trying to teach Morgan and Rossi some card tricks. Your gaze kept averting in the direction of the young doctor every once in a while; Emily of course noticed. “Tell me again why you’re not going to Nevada with our resident genius?” A puzzled look now present on your face. “How did you-”
“Reid told Morgan who told Garcia who told me.” She interrupted. You laughed at the ridiculousness of what she just came out of her mouth. “It’s like I’m in high school all over again.” She laughed under her breath.
There was a brief moment of silence.
“So, why aren’t you going?” Emily pried. A quiet sigh escaped your lips. “Like I told him, I don’t want to interfere.” She rolled her eyes; not buying into your bullshit. “He wouldn't have invited you-” “Fuck, please I don’t want-” She raised her hands in front of her. “Okay, okay. I’m sorry.”
Glancing at the time, you excused yourself wishing Emily a wonderful and happy Christmas. Quickly and quietly, you headed to your desk and put on your winter coat. As you grabbed your handbag you turned to face the remaining partygoers: “Happy holidays everyone!”. Your eyes briefly locked with Spencers who shot you a shy smile as you mouthed ‘Merry Christmas doctor.’ before hurrying out the door.
Two days later it was the twenty-fifth of December. You woke up on your couch, having fallen asleep during Christmas movie marathon, to the sound of your phone ringing.
Yawning, you reached for the device. Spencer. Answering, you pressed it to your ear and croaked; “Hello.”.
“I hope I didn't wake you.” “You did actually.” You responded yawning once again and gradually scrambling to your feet. You ambled towards the kitchen, straight for the coffee maker. “But I could never be mad at you doctor.” “I’m glad to hear that.”
There was a short pause.
“How are you?” He asked, his voice kind. “I’m okay, no need to worry about me. Shit-” “Y/N?”
“Sorry. I just realised I’m out of coffee grounds.”
Spencer chuckled on the other line. “It’s not funny doctor. I’ve no coffee and everything is closed because it’s Christmas.” “You could always switch to tea for the day.” Rolling your eyes, you smirked. “Right, because I’m such an avid tea drinker.”
There was another short pause.
“How was your flight? How’s Nevada? How’s your mom?” You asked changing the topic, making conversation. The young doctor didn't respond. “Hey, are you there?” The line cut-off. Weird.
‘He’ll call back later.’, you thought and headed for your bathroom.
An hour later you were showered and dressed. You switched on the lights on your poorly decorated Christmas tree and were about to make yourself comfortable on the sofa when a knock on the door caught your attention. You scurried over, without looking through the peephole to see who it was, you opened it.
“Spencer.”
“Merry Christmas Y/N.”
The brunette doctor smiled as you furrowed your brows. “What are you doing here? I thought you were in Nevada.”
“I was. I got back early this morning.”
He waited for you to invite him in before shimmying passed. He set down two tote bags on the kitchen counter before turning to look at you once again. Lost for words, you locked the door and approached the young doctor. Slowly you peeked inside the bags. “Supplies.” He simply stated while taking off his coat.
“You didn’t really think I’d let you spend Christmas alone, did you?”
Your heart skipped a beat. “You didn't have to do this doctor.” “I know.” He shrugged before reaching into one of the bags and unpacking the items. “I wanted to.” He held up a bag of coffee grounds and you couldn't help but giggle delicately.
“Thank you.” Your fingers brushed his as you grabbed the bag sending a shiver down your spine. Spencer froze feeling the sensation too. Nervously, he let his hand fall but the half-smile on his face remained.
“Where did you get this stuff anyway?” You asked as you walked around to the coffee machine. “I packed what I had at home.” Nodding, you began to prepare two cups. As the appliance whirred, you turned in your spot. “What about your mom? Wouldn't she have wanted to spend Christmas Day with you?”
Spencer continued to unpack the bags, neatly placing each item on the counter in front of him. “We spent all of yesterday together.” Pause. “And besides, she’s the one that urged me to come here.” He peered up at you, resting his palms down on the kitchen counter. The second his hazel eyes locked with yours, the flush of your cheeks turned a slender pink.
Not really thinking you ushered back towards him. The brunette doctor watched you attentively. Gently, you placed one hand on top of his and gave it a tender squeeze. “Lucky me.” You whispered staring deep into his eyes.
Spencers smile spread wider in unison with yours. After a few seconds of pure comfortable silence, he cleared his throat. “Do you think your prisoner boyfriend would mind if I asked you out on a date?” A faint giggle escaped your lips as the shade of your jowl turned from pink to bright red. “Even if he does-” You took another step towards Spencer, closing the space between you. “-I think you could handle him.”
Spencer chuckled. Using his free hand, he placed a loose strand of your hair behind your ear. His thumb stroked your cheek in the process and you angled into his pleasant touch.
“Thank you for being here.” You muttered, unintentionally chewing on your bottom lip.
He cupped your face as his gaze moved briefly down to your mouth before once again locking with yours. “Thank you for having me.” His voice soothing, not quite matching the fervour in his eyes.
In the space of a single heartbeat, he leaned down and his lips crushed against yours passionately. You let go of his hand and placed both your palms on his chest; tugging lightly at his shirt to try and pull him in even closer. Spencer did not waste a second, his now free arm moved elegantly around your waist.
The two of you pulled away breathlessly. He gently pressed his forehead to yours as you smiled. “Merry Christmas doctor.” “Merry Christmas Y/N.”

for the jules stay with coops, would you be able to do something where jules kinda just messes around on the ice with a stick n puck n the team just kinda watch in adoration? 🤧
This is the final installment of Adventures in Babysitting! Thank you to everyone who stayed interested in this idea, which is the longest series I’ve ever written for SW fanfic (about 15k words total! Wow!). This is my favorite part so far, I think. Hope you enjoy!
Intro 1 2 3 4
Credit for Sweater Weather/ Jules goes to @lumosinlove!
“Can I watch again today?” Jules begged, tugging on the strap of Remus’ duffel bag as they walked to the car. “Please? Please please please please—”
“Yes, you can watch,” Remus groaned, hefting their gear into the trunk. It seemed extra heavy today. “Though keep asking like that and I’m going to say no.”
“The plane doesn’t leave until six thirty, so we’ll be able to hang out with the guys after practice, right?”
“Well, yeah, but we should be at the airport by five just in case,” Remus said. “And it’s an open practice, so the media will want to ask some questions afterward. You can probably hang out with them between interviews, though.”
Jules bit his lip. “Oh. Okay.”
“We’ll figure something out, don’t worry.” He watched Jules buckle in through the rearview mirror while Sirius turned the car on. Most of the snow had melted the previous day, leaving a clear and crisp morning that Remus could feel through the windows as they drove to the rink; he felt a little bad for everyone who wouldn’t be moving around to keep warm for the next few hours.
Moody wasn’t by the door when they arrived, nor was he in the PT room. Remus checked the clock quickly and frowned—they didn’t have a lot of time to spare before they needed to get ready to go. “Coach!” Sirius called, waving down the hallway.
Arthur looked up at them and smiled. “There you are! Got your skates, Lupin?”
Remus blinked. “Uh, yeah?”
“Not you. Little Loops, did you bring your skates?”
Jules and Remus turned to Sirius at the same time and he hid a smile behind his hand. “Got ‘em right here, Coach,” he said without looking at them, holding his bag up.
“What?” Jules whispered and turned to Remus, who shrugged. “What’s he talking about?”
“You’re number…24?” Arthur squinted at his clipboard and walked closer to them. Jules nodded silently. “Alright, I think we can figure something out. You play center, right?”
Jules squeaked out a ‘yes’; Remus could feel him trembling with excitement. “I get to play?”
Arthur raised an eyebrow and bent slightly to his level. “Your brother never stops talking about how you’re the best center Wisconsin has ever seen. I wanna know if it’s true.”
“Sirius, what did you do?” Remus murmured as Jules struggled to take a deep breath.
“I may have possibly told Coach it was his last day here. Perhaps,” Sirius whispered back.
Remus shook his head. “You are the most incredible person on the planet and I’m going to kiss the daylights out of you as soon as humanly possible.”
“Love you, too.”
“Re.” Jules yanked on his arm as he jumped up and down, ramping up with every passing second. “Re, I get to skate with the team! I get to skate! With the team!”
“Looks like it,” Remus laughed. “Come on, practice starts in twenty.”
Not only had Sirius packed Jules’ skates, but somehow he had snuck all his gear into their duffels without either of them noticing; all the guys brightened when they walked into the locker room and Kasey waved to him from his stall. “Hey, Little L—”
“I get to skate!” Jules blurted as he gripped Remus’ hand hard enough to hurt.
James shared a look with Sirius—so you were in on it, too, Remus thought as he led Jules to his stall. “That’s pretty exciting,” he said with a low whistle. “How’d you swing that?”
“Coach Weasley wants to see me play.” If Jules made it through the next three hours without fainting from happiness, Remus would be shocked.
“You must be pretty good, then.” Leo grinned as he buckled into his pads. “Think you can score a goal on me?”
Jules hesitated, then nodded. “I’ll give it a shot.”
“That’s the spirit,” Finn laughed, ruffling Jules’ hair. “You got a jersey yet?”
“Nope.”
“Hmm. What’s your number?”
“24.”
“Yo, Ringer, you got an extra?” Evander Bell dug around for a moment before tossing him a clean jersey. Finn grabbed some stick tape out of his bag and tore two pieces off; when he shook it back out, a decent ‘24’ had replaced the previous ‘21’. “There you go. You might have to tuck it in a bit.”
Jules threw his arms around Finn’s waist and squeezed him tight, mumbling ‘thank you’ over and over again. Finn rubbed his back and looked up at Remus with pleading eyes—can I keep him? he mouthed, pouting when Remus shook his head. Logan and Leo ‘aww’ed in the background.
“Okay, bud, let’s get your pads on so you can enjoy your last day here.” He put a slight emphasis on the final three words and the rest of the team perked up, trading glances between their stalls as Jules hurried to change into his gear.
Thankfully, he already knew what to do, and within ten minutes all three of them were on the ice. Several fans pointed to Jules and waved; he seemed surprised by the attention and shyly smiled back. Coach’s whistle snapped them all to attention and Remus laid a hand on Jules’ helmet to keep him close, just in case. “Cap, you know our drills for today. We start our scrimmage at 12:30 and you get twenty minutes for a lunch break.”
“Yes, Coach,” they chorused. Jules’ answer was a little delayed and Remus caught several half-hidden smiles beneath visors.
“Over here, 24,” Logan said, guiding Jules to the starting line with his stick on his back. “You wanna be on my team?”
“I want dibs!” Talker called as he skated past. “Jules, who’s your favorite? Me, or Shortie Pants over there?”
“Uhhhh…” Jules looked quickly to Remus. “I don’t have a favorite.”
“Sucks to be you guys, but he’s on my team.” Sirius held his hand out for a fist bump that Jules happily obliged. “Right, buddy?”
“Totally.”
“Hell yeah.”
The drills were far easier than usual, even for an open practice, which gave everyone a chance to show off. They went through the motions, adding little flourishes here and there that the slowly-gathering crowd ate up; even Jules started having fun with it, tapping pucks back and forth with Pots between rounds and shooting goal after goal toward Kasey and Leo. He shone with joy.
When the lunch whistle blew, Remus tapped the back of his helmet lightly. “Remember that trick I did to knock Harzy over?” he asked under his breath. Jules grinned. “Want me to show you how to do it?”
“Duh.”
“Alright, c’mere.” Remus skated over to the far end of the rink, keeping an eye out until Finn was safely out of sight. “Plant your leg like this, yeah?”
Jules frowned, but did as he was told. “I thought you went right.”
“I did. You have to fake him out with the left. He falls for it every time.”
“Really?”
“Dollars to donuts. Give it a shot.” Jules wobbled a little. “Keep your balance steady…there you go!”
“Cool!” he whispered, looking up with a bright smile. Remus leaned down so they could knock their helmets together. “Cool.”
“Okay, time for lunch. You can try it out in the scrimmage.”
Jules practiced the motions all the way back to the bench, muttering instructions under his breath as Remus kept him from knocking anyone over on accident. He scarfed down a sandwich and downed a few gulps of Gatorade, which Sirius confiscated in case he drank it too fast and made himself sick.
“We’ve got a game to win, buddy,” he said. “Take it slow.”
“Scrimmage list is up!” Coach called from the doorway, tacking a sheet of paper to the wall. Everyone immediately crowded it; Remus shouldered his way through Kasey and Logan to get a good look.
He laughed out loud when he saw it. “Jules, you better square up!” he shouted over his shoulder.
“Am I playing against you?”
“Yep. You’re up against Sirius for the face-off.”
Jules’ eyes got huge in his head. “No.”
“See for yourself, buddy.”
“Does that mean we’re on the same team for once?” Sirius murmured as he leaned against the side of Remus’ stall.
“Looks like it.” He tilted his chin up for a quick kiss and Sirius tugged the edge of his shoulder pad lightly.
“Love seeing you in these.” He tapped the wooden shelf above them and grinned before straightening. “Alright, boys, let’s go!”
It almost felt like family skate again, except for the overarching vibe of genuine competitive spirit that spread through the team. Jules and Sirius skated to the center and braced for the drop; Jules dug his blades in, and not for the first time Remus was struck by how much they looked alike.
Sirius tapped the front of his skate, but Jules didn’t flinch from his laser-focus on Dumo. “He’s got his head in the game, Cap,” Dumo said with a grin. “Ready?”
“Ready.”
The puck dropped. In a flash of movement, both lunged for it; Sirius won, but Jules was hot on his heels as he skated toward the opposite goal, his face lined with pure determination. “Twelve!” Remus called, tapping his stick against the ice.
Sirius passed it, but Jules didn’t falter from his tail, moving to shadow his every moment. Remus passed James easily, but Talker stole the puck and turned it around for a quick move toward Leo, who dropped into a lunge and blocked his shot. The pace picked up after that and Remus heard the telltale click of press cameras going off along with the whoops of fans who had come to watch.
And then Jules started tailing him, the little shit. Remus did a lazy loop around the outside, then darted in to shake him—Jules reappeared moments later, a bit out of breath but otherwise fine. Remus took the puck out from underneath Logan and raced for the goal as a beautiful line opened up for him, but he heard the familiar shush-hush of Jules’ skates and braked hard.
He should have known it wouldn’t work. Jules dodged sideways at the last second, just barely missing the puck with his stick, then spun back around and chased Remus in a sharp curve through the defense. He heard several people start laughing as he lowered his center of gravity and took a hard turn; the chill of the ice burned his cheeks, but Jules didn’t leave him alone.
“Come on, Little Loops,” he taunted, grinning over his shoulder. “Come and get it!”
Jules grumbled something under his breath and pushed off harder, skating right at Remus with single-minded intensity. He saw his left foot lift and internally shook his head.
With a couple quick taps, he was behind him again. “You can’t use my own tricks against me!”
“I can try!” Jules shouted back as they flew up the ice once more. Kasey caught his shot. “Nice one, Loops.”
“Better luck next time, eh?” Remus knocked on his helmet as he skated past, still panting. Arthur was laughing so hard he had to lean against the glass while Moody patted him on the back and winked at Remus.
“Eight more years,” Moody called with a grin. “Then we’ll have two Lupins out here.”
“Wouldn’t that be something,” Remus laughed.
They stayed on the ice for a while after the scrimmage ended, losing 2-1 to Sirius’ team. Jules shadowed anyone he came within five feet of and was harder to shake off than a piece of duct tape—Remus had never been prouder.
“Harzy! Harzy, I gotta show you something!” Jules waved to Finn, who looked over in amusement from Leo’s goal. “Skate toward me like we’re in a game.”
“Sure thing, bud.”
Jules kept his eyes on Finn’s feet as they grew closer, mouthing something under his breath. No, Remus thought. Is he going to…?
He did. In one perfect motion, he picked up his left skate and pushed hard in the other direction, zipping beneath Finn’s arm and sending him in the other direction. “No!” Finn shouted immediately as Jules burst into maniacal giggles. “Absolutely not! Remus Lupin, get your ass over here!”
“That was perfect!” Remus held his hands out for a double high-five and Jules jumped to reach his palms. “Excellent form.”
Shaved ice coated them both as Finn snowed them, still scowling. “I can’t believe you!”
“Have you tried saying ‘no’ to the puppy eyes?” Remus asked, turning Jules by the shoulders and sticking his own lower lip out.
Finn scoffed, but he could hardly hide his smile. “You’re both ridiculous.”
“Indeed.” He squeezed Jules’ arms briefly. “It’s about time to head out, J. Do you want to say goodbye to everyone while I check in with Marlene?”
The unbridled excitement on Jules’ face dimmed a bit. “Do I have to go?”
“You’ve got school in a couple days.”
“I could stay until it starts again.”
“Mom and Dad miss you a lot.”
“Remus!” Marlene flagged him down from the boards and he skated over with Jules in tow, pulling his helmet off and swiping sweaty hair out of his eyes.
“What’s up?”
Before she could speak, a skinny man with large glasses pushed to the front of the group; Remus disliked him instantly. “Mr. Lupin, can you tell us—”
“Excuse you, I think she was trying to talk,” he interrupted, giving the man a stony look. “Hey, Marley, how’re you doing?”
“I’m doing fine. This is Craig Stearns, from the Hockey Daily…magazine.” Her smile was slightly forced. Tabloid. “He has a couple questions for you.”
“Hi, Craig.”
“When were you going to tell the media about your secret child?”
Remus raised an eyebrow. “My what?”
Craig’s eyes flickered down to Jules, whose grip tightened on the hem of Remus’ jersey. “Your son.”
“You mean my little brother?”
“You’ve been seen with him an awful lot this week—”
“Because he’s my little brother.”
“—and he appears to be living in your house—”
“Because he’s my little brother.”
“—and several photos show you walking hand-in-hand—”
“Do you have siblings?” Remus cut in. “I’m going to assume you don’t. My parents visited for the holidays, during which time there was a death in the family and Jules stayed with Sirius and I for the week. He was living in our house because I’m not about to put my ten-year-old brother in a hotel, and I was holding his hand so that he didn’t run into the street. Are we done here?”
Craig paused. “Can we get a picture—”
“No.”
Jules tapped his elbow and Remus bent down. “Can we go home?” he asked quietly.
“Yeah, buddy, we can go home.” Remus gave him a gentle nudge toward the boards. “Go find Sirius, okay?”
“Okay.”
Remus watched him skate across the ice until Leo caught him and swung him into the air before turning back to Craig with the coldest glare he could muster. “You can say whatever the hell you want about me, but keep my little brother out of your fucking gossip column. He’s ten. I better not see his face on some tabloid, got it?”
“Crystal clear,” Craig said with a harsh gulp.
“Good.” Remus looked over to Marlene and smiled, giving her a fist bump. “See you tomorrow, Marley. Say hi to D for me.”
“Will do.”
--------------------------------------
After endless hugs and a standing offer to play from Coach, they finally made it to the car just before four pm. They practically had to crowbar Jules and Moody apart—Remus was half-expecting the grouchy old man to run out after their car waving adoption papers, and letting Kuny figure out Jules was ticklish may have been the worst mistake of Remus’ life.
It was cute, though, seeing the puppylike love on his teammates’ faces whenever Jules entered the room. Jules clearly had a good time; he passed out cold in the backseat within two minutes of leaving the parking lot, still damp from his shower.
“Is it bad that I don’t want to give him back yet?” Remus asked.
“I was just about to say that,” Sirius laughed, glancing into the rearview mirror. “We could tell your parents the flight was cancelled.”
“They miss him.”
Sirius sighed. “I’m sure they do.”
“I still don’t want to put him on a plane alone.”
“He’ll be safe.”
“One of us could fly with him…?” Remus shook his head. “Never mind, he’d think we were treating him like a kid. Ugh. I already miss him.”
“We’ve still got an hour or so to pack.” They turned into the driveway and Sirius parked, but neither of them moved to get out. “This was really, really fun. I’m glad we did it.”
“Me, too.” Remus sighed and twisted around to shake Jules’ knee. “Jules, we’re home. You can sleep on the plane, okay?”
Jules took a deep breath and blinked awake, scrunching his nose up. “I don’t wanna pack.”
“I’m not doing it for you, so you better get a wiggle on unless you want to go home in just your underwear.” Jules was out of the car in a flash and both of them dissolved into laughter. “Oh, fuck, I didn’t think that would work.”
“Come on, he’s about to break the door down.” Sirius snorted and got their bags out of the trunk, then tossed Jules his keys. “It’s the one in the middle, buddy.”
“The blue one?”
“No.”
“The yellow one?”
“Are either of those in the middle?”
“…is it the silver one?”
“There you go.”
Jules got it open after a moment of maneuvering and they tumbled inside in a heap of hockey gear, locking the door against the cold wind that was starting to blow. Packing wasn’t difficult—Remus had put Jules’ laundry into the dryer the previous night and threw it into his backpack as Jules collected his books and leftover socks.
They were in the car by five; Remus was a little nervous about getting to the airport on time, but traffic was light and they arrived with more than an hour to spare. Check-in was easy, they made it through security without any issues, and before he knew it, they were standing in front of the gate.
“You have everything, right?” he asked for the thousandth time as Jules rocked on the balls of his feet. “Books, clothes, everything you brought?”
“I’m fine, Re,” he said.
“You’re not hungry?”
“I had a sandwich before we left, remember?”
“It’s a four-hour flight.”
“I’ll be okay.” Jules looked up at him and smiled. “I’m ten, remember?”
I know, that’s why I’m worried. “Boarding for first-class passengers and unaccompanied minors,” a smooth voice called over the intercom. Remus’ heart leapt and he saw Sirius stiffen slightly.
“That’s you, bud,” he said around the lump in his throat, crouching to give him a proper hug. He buried his face in the side of Jules’ neck and gave him a tight squeeze. “Love you.”
“Love you more,” Jules mumbled. Remus let go after a moment and Jules moved to Sirius. “I’ll miss you.”
“Oh, buddy.” Sirius kissed the top of his head. “I’ll miss you, too.”
“Say hi to mom and dad for me, yeah?” Remus added as Jules walked over to a stewardess in a blue dress.
“I love you!” he called again. Just before they reached the gate, he stopped in his tracks. “Wait!”
“What?” Remus’ stomach dropped to his feet as Jules shrugged his backpack off and ran back to them, flinging himself into Sirius’ arms.
“I didn’t think of a nickname for you!”
“That’s okay,” Sirius assured him. “I don’t need one.”
“Nicknames are for people we care about, and I care about you,” Jules insisted. He narrowed his eyes in thought before breaking into a wide grin. “Siri.”
“Like the phone app?”
“Exactly. Might need some workshopping, though.”
“Go catch your plane,” Sirius laughed, setting him down after a final hug. Jules ran back to the stewardess, who gave them a quick smile while she helped him get his backpack on again. They stayed in their spot, hand-in-hand, until the plane was nothing but a speck among the clouds and their feet started to ache.
“They’ll come visit soon, right?” Remus leaned his head against Sirius’ shoulder as they headed for the exit.
“They will.”
“How much do you want to bet Jules left at least three things behind?”
“He probably left half his clothes under the bed, but there are so many other things we’re going to be doing tonight that don’t include tracking down a kid’s lost sock.”
“Oh, really?” Remus raised an eyebrow at him and kissed his knuckles. “I like the way you think.”
“We already earned our Oreos, mon loup. I think we deserve a reward for surviving three weeks of constant family time.”

inspired by Behind The Band episode 3
pairings: Charlie Gillespie x fem!Reader words: 2,003
masterlist = taglist
“Alright you guys remember, you are gonna be singing a lot more over the next few days. So please, take care of your voices, you guys.” The band was finishing up their first day of recording the album and Kenny was giving them instruction to follow. “This means to limit the singing at home, watch what you're eating, and maybe even talk a lot less the next coming days.”
This came as a surprise to all four of the members as they didn’t realize how many rules came with recording an album, except maybe Jeremy since he’s recorded music before. But they all reluctantly agreed to Kenny and the producer’s terms and headed home for the day. The first day of recording was so exciting for all of the band but Charlie particularly felt like he just experienced the coolest thing ever. Being in a professional studio with the mics and headphones felt so surreal and he couldn’t wait to come back tomorrow.
But he knew that he had to take Kenny’s warning seriously. After Madison, Charlie sang the most in the show and he had so many songs to get done. Charlie also knew that he was someone who talked a lot and wasn’t very good at getting to the point. If he had to take days off from singing because he messed up his voice, he would push the whole recording back and cause everyone to fall behind.
After saying their goodbyes to everyone, Charlie headed back to his shared apartment with Owen. Despite the day being so exciting, it was also exhausting and Charlie couldn’t wait to get back to his bed and cuddle with his girlfriend who had come to stay with them for a few days. She is only able to stay a few days at a time because of her job back home in LA but she visits as often as she can ever since Charlie moved out to Vancouver for boot camp and eventually for filming.
“Welcome home you guys!” Y/N’s voice came screaming from the kitchen as soon as Owen pushed open the door, Charlie slowly trudging behind him due to how tired he was. Neither one of the boys yelled hello back like they normally did but instead opted for just entering the kitchen and sending her a wave. Owen began to down a water bottle as he exited the kitchen, mumbling something about taking a shower. Charlie walked over to his girlfriend and wrapped his arms around her waist and leaned over to place his head on her shoulder. “So how was the first day of recording?” Y/N asked as she continued to stir the pasta that was cooking on the stove. She knew the boys would be too tired to make anything themselves and she wanted them to have a nice dinner waiting for them after a long day.
“It was amazing.” Charlie slightly buried his head more into her neck while tightening his hold on her waist.
“That’s it? That’s all you have to say?” Y/N laughed because last night before they fell asleep and then first thing this morning Charlie couldn’t shut up about how excited he was. The smile never left his face and he never kept both feet on the ground because he was jumping around too much. “I thought you’d run in here and start rambling off about how cool it all was.”
“It was, babe. It was so cool.” It could have been because he couldn’t talk that much or because of how drained he was, or a combination of both, but these short and vague answers were all Charlie could muster up. When Y/N put down the spoon she was stirring with, she placed her arms on top of the ones that were holding her waist. She then started to ever so slightly sway left and right as she continued to watch the pot of water boil.
“Then why do you sound so defeated bubs?” She brought her voice to more of a whisper to match Charlie’s. She felt his breath on her neck as he let out a soft sigh.
“I was told to limit my talking. Save my voice.” Y/N smiled as she could sense the small amount of disappointment in Charlie’s voice. She knew there was nothing he wanted to do more right now than tell her every single that happened today. “I’m also super tired.”
“Well bubs, why don’t you go take a nap? It will distract you from talking and you need it after your long day.” She turned around in Charlie’s arms lifting her own to wrap them around his neck. He picked his head up and opened his eyes to be met with hers, looking up at him with so much love and worry. “I’ll come to wake you up when it’s time to eat something.” Charlie just sent her a small smile as he leaned in to place a soft kiss on her forehead before pulling her close to give her a tight hug.
Y/N hugged back with just as much strength before pushing him away and sending him in the direction of his bedroom, shaking her head as he shuffled across the floor, too tired to pick up his feet. After a few minutes by herself, Owen appeared back in the kitchen to make some small talk. He explained he didn’t have to follow as many rules since he doesn’t sing as many parts. The two finished up the dinner together enjoying each other’s company and making jokes about how quiet and peaceful it was in the apartment with Charlie’s usual screaming and running around.
Y/N plated up three portions of pasta, handing one to Owen who took it into his room and then grabbing the other two herself. She carried the plates into Charlie’s room, her heart melting at the sight in front of her. Charlie was curled up on the bed, the blanket pulled up to his chin, and held tightly to his chest. His lips were slightly parted as he let out small breaths with an occasional quiet snore and his face was relaxed. Y/N quietly walked across the room and placed the plates of food on the table before slowly climbing onto the bed. She then ever so slightly began to trace her fingers across Charlie’s face, the faint tickle beginning to wake him up. He suddenly woke up and lifted his hands to rub his eyes as he let out a large yawn. Y/N giggled at the scene, his whole demeanor reminding her of a puppy getting woken up.
“I was waking you up to eat. Here you go.” Y/N turned to her side to grab one of the plates as Charlie was still rubbing his eyes but began sitting up in bed, leaning on the headboard. A smile appeared on Charlie’s face as he took hold of the plate. His eyes got wide, as wide as his stomach apparently, as he began to scarf down the noodles. Hearing her giggles next to him, Charlie turned his head and opened his mouth to say thank you but immediately remembered he couldn’t talk which caused a pout to appear on his face. “Don’t worry bubs, I know you really wanna talk. And you are welcome for the food.”
Y/N pulled out a tissue from the box they had next to the bed and turned to Charlie to wipe some of the sauce off his cheeks. He playfully pushed her hand way, pouting even more because she knew that it made him feel like a baby. But it also made him feel loved and taken care and he secretly loved it but Charlie would never admit that.
“You know, I should be taking advantage of you having to stay quiet these next few days.” Charlie sent her his big puppy dog eyes, worried that she would do just that. He hated not being able to talk to her about his day or sing to her sleep tonight, especially since she will only be here a few days and he knew as soon as she was gone being quiet would be even more painful. “But don’t worry, I won’t. I’ll even stay quiet with you bubs.” Y/N grabbed her plate of food after reaching over to pull her laptop onto her lap. She was quick to pull up the downloaded files of FRIENDS that she had saved.
Immediately perking up at the show selection, Charlie took control of the laptop and picked a random episode from his favorite season. He placed the laptop back in between the two of them as Y/N scooted closer to Charlie and slightly leaned her body against his. Charlie placed his plate on his lap and only ate with one hand available so he could wrap his left arm around Y/N. The two hummed along to the theme song when it came on and they both tried their best to go along with the claps but were completely offbeat since they had to be careful of the plates on their laps.
They got through a few episodes before they decided to call it a night as it has begun to get pretty dark out and they both knew Charlie had to be up early again tomorrow. Y/N took the plates that had been completely licked clean, something Charlie always did because he believed in ‘not wasting food’, and put them in the sink, deciding to put off cleaning them till tomorrow. Walking back into Charlie’s bedroom, Y/N changed into something comfy to sleep in while Charlie scrolled through his phone. She eventually was ready for bed and she climbed back in next to Charlie as he put his phone down and went to wrap himself back into the covers. But before Y/N could join him in the blanket cocoon, Charlie stopped her.
“Check your phone.” He whispered, his eyes darting between Y/N and her phone sitting on the table next to the bed. She went to ask why but he shook his head and waved his hand in the air in the direction of her phone. Knowing to not question Charlie, Y/N reached over to pick up her phone, seeing a notification on her screen. She unlocked it and went to her messages to see a text from Charlie himself. She turned her head and sent a confused look his way. All he did was send a smile back and nod his head down, wanting her to read it.
From: Charlie <3 obviously i can’t talk a lot but i wanna say i love you so much and thank you for always taking care of me. and sticking beside me during these crazy few weeks of filming and stuff. i don’t know what I would do without you.
A few tears appeared in Y/N’s eyes as she read the sweet message on her screen. When she finished she turned to see Charlie staring at her with his big, bright eyes and the smallest smile, awaiting her response. Y/N placed her hand on the side of Charlie’s face and he turned slightly into it and placed two small kisses on her palm.
“You’re welcome bubs. I know how hard you are working on this project and I can’t wait to see it all pay off. And I love you too, so much.” She leaned forward to give him a real kiss, their first one today since he rushed out the door this morning. Charlie smiled into the kiss, showing that her response was what he was hoping to hear. They both pulled away after a few seconds and sent each one more soft smile before finally getting comfortable in the piles of blankets and pillows. Charlie reached over to turn off the lamp, darkness taking over the room as they found their respective spots back in each other’s embrace.

Taking it Natural
Well I can never fully stick to an outline lmao. But, I did manage a lil fic involving just some simple stuff between Cormag and Artur.
Kink stuff is more on the lesser end, cause I wanted to focus a bit more on dialogue and also wanted to write something on the smaller scale of sizes. Also was just fun to write a shorter, simpler story and also one not set in Askr which I need to do more lol
"I am perfectly fine doing the dishes," Artur lightly hums to himself. He scrubs away at the bits and remnants of the day's finished meal. A few pots and pans already on the drying rack alongside the ladles, said dishes preemptively cleaned before dinner had even been eaten, he washes the clutter of used dinnerware. His back facing Cormag, his partner currently sits at the couch.
"I'll go check on Genarog then," His voice comes out strained. Completely leaning against the couch, Cormag's stomach continues its prolonged harassment towards its owner. His stomach is a cacophony of churning and gurgling noises, the overworked, stuffed gut letting it's discomfort be known. Despite his declaration of performing a chore, he simply remains seated with his head leaning back. His lips are parted as he languidly recovers enough energy to catch his breath.
"I already fed him and made sure he's comfortable in his stable," Arthur places a plate on the drying rack beside the just washed cutlery and glassware. His still soapy hands reach for the next plate to scrub at.
"Ah," Cormag's strenuous breathing remains the same. He keeps his eyes closed as a way to block out any possible external  discomfort besides his tumultuous tummy. "Then I'll…" Cormag trails off with a groan. A few extra pants and wheezes come out as his gut seems to give him an extra angry complaint. "Then I'll-"
"You can wait on the couch. I am fine, Cormag," The last plate cleaned and set aside to dry, he dries his hands on a dish towel, the damp cloth adorned with miniature wyverns. Turning around, he smiles as he gets an eyeful of Cormag's sorry stuffed state.
Cormag retiring from being a soldier, he had instead taken up woodworking once he and Artur decided to live together. His new line of work requiring a different, less intensive set of skills, the sudden change of constant routines and fighting to meticulous, long periods of time sitting while carving was a sudden change for his metabolism and appetite. The lack of much activity affecting his physique was only compounded by Artur's task of taking care of the house's chores. Cormag had already been aware of Artur's proficiency in the culinary arts through their occasional picnics back when the two had first begun a relationship, yet the latter's constant practice through cooking everyday left his prowess in the kitchen to something to truly be proud of. Cormag having a generous fill of food every meal of the day, his indulgence of Artur's cooking hadn't moved quite past an extra helping or two every go around. Although, even those generous extra helpings helped plump and widen his waistline to a body type rather past stocky and into fat guy territory.
Clothes upsized just as his body upsized, his maroon t-shirt does a sufficient job in covering Cormag’s sun kissed skin. His compact yet soft pile of squishy fat for a stomach curves outwards as it ever so gently slots itself on top of his doughy thighs. Pressed up against his shirt, the malleable tummy barely covers any of Cormag’s lap, enough space for Artur to be comfortably seated atop him still. The two fleshy legs seem even wider as he sits, the bunched up fat splaying a slightly extra amount from resting on the couch. Cormag’s pants do their best in perfectly covering the two, the waistband even widened as well to not uncomfortably squish against Cormag’s hips. The center of his gut juts out more than his squeezable love handles, Cormag’s rotundness more pronounced. The stuffed mass seems to taunt Artur, his eyes finding themselves often drifting back towards the perfectly rubbably surface. Cormag’s sizable chest makes itself comfortable on top of his stomach, the handful of breasts splaying a bit to the side from the accumulation of fat. His pronounced chest only helps make Cormag seem extra wide, Artur always feeling rather twiggish next to his plump teddy bear of a husband. Though the lightly tanned moobs are offered enough room from Cormag’s spacious shirt to not be so confined and pressed up against the fabric. Cormag’s biceps are no more, the somewhat, albeit nicely, defined biceps coated in a plush, warm layer of fat. The plump appendaged perfect for a nice, crushing yet comforting hug, Cormag’s arms had always been a secret favorite of Artur’s. Cormag rests his arms on the cushiony back pillows, the bottom heft of his arms squishing ever so slightly against the surface. His face at the very center of his arm span, Artur can only see the fleshy double chin connected to Cormag’s lovably wonderful kissable face. Though he can very much hear his love’s taxed breathing even over the angered grumbling coming from his gut.
“Oh, Artur,” Cormag’s arms wobble for a few moments; the two doughy appendages struggle as he tries to push himself up despite his body’s protests. “Give me, hah, a minute,” His rotund body expands with each great, deep breath he takes.
“No worries,” Artur sits himself beside Cormag. His lap calling to him, he’d feel like a monster causing him anymore discomfort. “I’ll wait beside you,” Artur pats Cormag’s thigh.
“Heh,” Cormag lets out a small chuckle, the only response he can give before he has to take a few more breaths to help relieve the heavy pit of pain resting in his gut. “I really ate like a pig,”
The faint warm onset of a blush on Artur’s face blossoms on his face, the healer always getting a tinge of embarrassment whenever Cormag even offhandedly mentions his size or eating habits. “Perhaps. But, I should learn to stop cooking so much. I just think of something nice for us to share and so I kinda just make it,” Artur tosses a noncommittal shrug at the end, a few awkward laughs thrown in as well as if he hadn’t confessed his unique admiration in the way Cormag’s body plumped out. A few extra pounds looking rather dashing on his tall figure which would only look more handsome if those few extra pounds swelled into a dozen or perhaps even a hundred before Cormag was resting at a sizable 300 pounder of a man.
“Maybe. Guess we both should learn some restraint,”
“Perhaps,,,” Artur nearly reaches for Cormag’s aching gut to soothe the beast before thinking better of it. “I have a salve that should help,” Without waiting for any confirmation, Artur goes to the closet full of his supplies. Herbs able to help cure maladies unlike staves, he rummages through the several jars and boxes he has. Though only Artur would consider his neat, organized setup a mess requiring rummaging, Lute always interested in his tidy organizational skill. Having fetched the ointment, he stands in front of the seated Cormag. “This has to go directly on your skin,” He tosses the lower hem of Cormag’s shirt up. Applying a dollop of the ointment on his hands, he wastes no time in getting them all over Cormag’s stomach.
“You’ve never needed an excuse to do this stuff before,” The salve immediately begins to work its magic on Cormag. His labored breathing slowly begins to take on a more natural pace and the evident discomfort on his face washes away. “You sure do know your way around there,” Cormag even shifts around on the couch, his stomach no longer threatening to self-destruct from the slightest jostle.
Artur drops his head in mirthful laughter, Cormag’s surprising silly teasing always getting to him. “I have rubbed your stomach how many times, Cormag?” His hands drift on over to Cormag’s love handles. Standing above Cormag, he grabs on to the chunky handles as he leans down for a kiss.
“Not enough, knowing you,” Cormag whispers as they part.
“Then you truly do know me,” Artur retorts. Cormag’s stomach is no longer a ticking time bomb, so he figures it’d be fine to sit in his favorite spot. He gently lowers himself down onto Cormag’s lap. His soft squishy, tummy rests comfortably against his back.
“If you had this kind of stuff laying around, why use it only now?”
“Well- I,,,” Artur considers his next words for a moment. “I felt bad with how much I stuffed you tonight. I may have gone overboard so-”
Cormag promptly cuts him off with a reassuring hand on his shoulder. “You didn’t force me to do anything. You’re cooking is great. I tell all my clients about your cooking. They kept hounding me about your recipe for those cookies you always make to butter them up,”
“Ah,” Artur turns bright red as he recalls the high praises from all of Cormag’s clients, a few even inadvertently referring to Cormag’s weight upon said praises. “Well, I also didn’t use this because I didn’t want you to feel like I only cared about stuffing you and getting you fatter,”
“I’m gonna have to get up for this one,” Rising up, Cormag makes sure to help Artur up first. “Look at me,” He grabs Artur’s shoulders. Artur shorter by a few inches, he feels miniscule right now. “If I ever have any problems with my weight, you are going to be the first person I tell. We’ve known each other for years before I started gaining weight,” Cormag brings Artur to him, wrapping him in a bear hug. Artur’s arms are ensnared by Cormag’s own doughy arms. Though he knows his arms wouldn’t be able to wrap around him regardless. His feet rise off a few inches from the ground as Cormag holds on to him. Cormag begins to chuckle, his heart always aflutter with Artur in his arms. The ring of laughter catches onto Artur, the two laughing together. They remain like so for a few minutes, neither speaking.
Eventually, Cormag lets Arthur back down. A hefty sigh escapes his lips from the minimal amount of activity. “And if you ever have any problems with my weight, then let me know,” Cormag holds onto Artur’s hands, rubbing the palm of them with his thumb.
“Of course. But I don’t think I could ever have a problem having such a handsome husband.”
“Unfortunately for you, my husband is more handsome than yours,” Artur snorts from Cormag’s reply. His hands find their way to Cormag’s arm for a light slap.
“I guess you win then. But, thank you. Neither of us have done this, so I wanted to make sure we’re going at a natural pace for the both of us,”
“Taking it nice and slow is my preference. Enjoying the travel is just as important as the destination or however you say it,” An idea sparking in his brain, Cormag devilishly grins, his plump cheeks dimpling. “Let’s enjoy the scenic route some more,” Cormag leans slightly down. He gently whispers in Artur’s ears before resting his lips on his partner’s.
Artur grinning, he merely murmurs in hushed agreement as Cormag kisses him, the crackle of joy feeling just as natural as their first kiss, the two ready to indeed enjoy Cormag’s current size and take things naturally, wherever it might lead.

Heaven and Hell Were Words to Me
AO3 link
TWs: violence, manipulation
Now, Michael knows when things aren’t his business. He knows when things should be left to the past, when he shouldn’t pry.
And he doesn’t, not for the most part. He lets things happen around him, sticks to the side. He’s seen his fair share of chaos, had his part in it.
He doesn’t know what’s happening with the prison. He doesn’t dare ask.
But god, is it interesting. Something about it pricks his interest, makes him pay attention when it’s brought up. He doesn’t know if it’s the mystery, his lack of knowledge, a want to belong to something of the server. He tries not to pry, he really does, but sue him if he asks an extra question here or there.
After all, he’s a neutral party.
(He’s not. There’s an evergrowing feeling of dissent… it starts with the fact that there wasn’t a trial, then the fact that he has only a number of guards, and it grows and grows, but he doesn’t dare say anything.)
>
There’s a certain sort of discomfort when you’re the only one on the server. It’s so very quiet. Every time he mines a block, drops a tool, it feels so loud, so stressful.
It’s a strange feeling, a little shiver on the back of his next as he wanders through the usually vibrant server.
It feels wrong.
[Dream joined the game]
The uncomfortable feeling grows. He shakes it off. He can’t deny the way his interest peaks, but there’s no use wondering.
[Dream] michael come break me out omg
Oh.
Oh.
He can’t deny it’s slightly tempting.
...Okay. Pretty tempting.
Before he even really knows what he’s doing, he’s already slotting his pickaxe into his inventory, already pulling out his trident to jump in the water outside.
He’s not quite sure what possesses him, what drives him into the frenzy that carries him to the side of the prison, what drives him to throw his pickaxe against the wall despite the pressing ache of the mining fatigue.
There’s just the absolute, overwhelming need to <i>get him out</i>.
There are ever-present messages in the corner of his eye, and it only encourages him further.
His heart is beating in his ears. This is risky. This is stupid. This is what he needs to do.
He only gets so far.
[Awesamdude joined the game]
His blood runs cold. He gasps at the way his heart drops. The voice starts behind him.
“Michael. You don’t understand what you’re doing.” It’s not a question. It’s a threat.
He’s stammering something, desperately trying to think of something a little less insane than I was trying to break the only jailed criminal on this server out because he asked me to even as his brain shouts get him out get him out get him out now and then there’s a hot burning down his back.
He gasps in pain, stumbling forward. He turns just in time to see Sam raise his sword for another slash, cries out and backs away.
He’s whimpering something like please please please no as the message jumps into the bottom of his vision.
[Dream] He understands he’s just an idiot
[Dream] Kill him
Michael sobs, in pain and confused and so so scared. He blubbers something like he asked me to, please don’t, he told me to as if that would make it better, and Sam’s gaze shifts into something like disgust.
“I will not be this nice next time.”
And with that, he leaves the game.
Michael hauls himself to his feet, whimpering as it exacerbates the slash up his spine, and vaguely resists sending a why did you say that why I thought you wanted me to help why would you do that to me message.
He can’t. And he needs to leave anyways.
The climb out of the prison is painful. He didn’t make it to leave without another person He has to stop, a few times, just to make sure he doesn’t bleed out. He doesn’t have any healing pots. There’s no choice but to wait to heal on his own, or beg someone else.
He tells himself he’s lucky to have not lost a life. Every passing second a small, vindictive part of his brain resists that notion. It hurts so much.
He lays flat on the prison roof, legs still over the edge of the hole he used to climb in and out.
He’s probably just lost a lot of blood, but he plots a next break-in plan anyways.
He keeps checking for another message from Dream.
God. He’s either delirious or insane.
He rolls over and pushes himself to his feet again, already bracing for the drop off the edge. He instead stumbles and throws up what’s probably all of this week’s and last’s meals. Ow.
>
He’s just gotten down when he’s intercepted. He’s practically gasping for breaths now. He doesn’t want to know what kind of blood trail he’s left. He avoids looking to see how many hearts he has left.
“Holy shit, Michael, are you okay?” The voice is loud in his ears and it leaves his head pounding.
He opens his mouth, mutters something about I’m fine and a don’t worry about me, but he’s not quite sure what it is he says.
His eyes are having a hard time focusing, the ground pulsing and spinning around him. He’s having a real hard time thinking.
All of a sudden there are dots dancing in his vision. He turns to whoever is talking. He’s pretty sure he’s said I’m going to pass out if he’s lucky.
He falls. There’s a faint shout.
>
He comes to on a bed. It’s way nicer than his own.
He’s lying on his stomach. He hisses in pain. His back hurts. He’s almost at half health. At least it’s better than before.
He takes his time getting up and shrugs on the sweater left on the end of the bed. It’s painful to move, but he manages to get out the door.
This is Las Nevadas.
He had a suspicion the minute he woke, but this only confirms it. It’s only a simple house, but the glitz and glamor still make their appearance. He turns to examine it better.
“Like it?” He turns so fast it makes him dizzy. Quackity grins.
“Here, you look like you’re about to fall over. Come here.” Quackity takes his arm and leads him into the next room, seats him at a table.
“So, dude, what happened?” Quackity asks, and there’s actual concern there.
That’s interesting. They’ve hardly talked, after all.
He doesn’t want to say it. Quackity will try to stop him, just like everyone else.
“Sam was a bit angry with me,” he settles on.
Quackity frowns. “Sam? I know he’s been a bit short-tempered lately, but… did you do anything? That could’ve upset him?”
Michael sighs. He knows he’s not getting anywhere without actually saying it, and Sam will probably tell Quackity anyways. Better to get it out now.
“I maybe… kinda… triedtobreakintotheprison?” He runs his words all together, forcing them out as fast as possible.
Quackity freezes from where he’s turned to put on the kettle. “You… what?”
“Tried to break Dream out,” he mutters.
“Michael… why the fuck would you do that?” He demands, whirling around. He slams his hands on the table. His face is twisted into an anger Michael doesn’t think he’s seen before.
“He asked me to,” he says softly, as though he hadn’t already been thinking about it. “He sounded so sad. And he said he’d do anything, he was begging.”
He’s probably making his case worse, but it’s the truth. His heart hurts at the thought of Dream still stuck in there. He hopes Sam doesn’t do anything.
Quackity takes a long, deep breath and sits again. He takes Michael’s hands.
“Look, Michael.” Michael does. Quackity’s face is full of something like pity that he doesn’t understand. It unsettles him. “Do you know why he’s in the prison?”
He shakes his head. There’s a pit growing in his stomach.
“He.. he hurt all of us. He was our friend at one point, but something went wrong, I guess. But the main reason why he’s in there? Why he doesn’t have the right to go free like us? Manipulation, Michael.”
He doesn’t want to hear this.
“He was manipulating you. He wants out, and you’re the right person for it. Because you weren’t there to see what he did.
“He deserves whatever he gets, okay? Don’t feel bad. You don’t need to get in trouble with Sam for someone like that.”
It feels like a betrayal. He wants to slam his hands over his ears, barely resists. He wants to cry.
“He told Sam to kill me,” he whispers, and nearly clamps his hands over his mouth.
He didn’t just say that. He shouldn’t have. He doesn’t want Quackity to think of Dream any worse, why did he say that, if Dream knew he’d feel so betrayed, why did he-
Quackity rubs his shoulder in sympathy. “He’s evil. Sam wouldn’t do that.”
He doesn’t sound like he believes it himself.
He claps his hands together. “Look, Michael. I’m sorry this happened. I gave you some pots and you should be okay to go, there’s just some residual pain and stuff. There will be a scar, and I’m sorry for that. I’d recommend not going anywhere near the prison for a bit, Sam will have a conniption. And I’m sorry Dream did that to you. I promise it won’t happen again.”
Michael shivers. He doesn’t like the sound of that.
“I don’t want him to suffer,” he starts. “It’s okay, really-”
“Don’t worry about it,” Quackity continues smoothly, clapping him on the back. The way it only barely misses his wound feels almost intentional.
The air in the room feels oppressive.
“I have to go,” he says suddenly, rushing back to his room to grab what’s left of his things. Some of them are missing. Quackity’s shadow behind him no longer feels comforting.
>
He wanders, after that. Things feel so much emptier than before, even if nothing has changed. His brain isn’t together enough to get back to work, and he’s not sure if it’s residual effects of blood loss or something else.
“Hey, Michael!” He turns for the source of the voice. He smiles. Puffy.
“Hey.”
She runs up to him and sets a hand on his arm. Her face is pinched. “Are you okay?”
He shrugs then resists a wince at the way it pulls at his wound. “Yeah, why?”
She gestures up and down at him. “You’re kind of… bloodstained? You look like shit, sorry.”
“Oh.” Something tugs at him, a sort of contentedness at being noticed. “Yeah, you know, just got kinda. Lightly stabbed.”
She frowns and pulls him with her. “Come here, let’s get you cleaned up.”
As she sits him down at his second table for the day, he muses that there’s something about Quackity stopping the bleeding but leaving him blood-covered. There’s something there he’s not smart enough to dissect.
She dampens a cloth and runs it over his face, his arms, hands him one of her sweaters. She gasps when he turns to take off his own.
“Holy shit, Michael, what happened?” He doesn’t give her a chance to get a good look.
“It’s not important,” he mumbles. He sits and she resumes cleaning off his hands.
And that’s when he gets the message.
[Dream] are you ok
He gasps.
“Shit, Michael, you okay?” Puffy asks, incorrectly assuming she’s hurt him. He doesn’t respond.
[Dream] i hope sam didnt hurt you
[Dream] ily
He feels tears. Puffy, now thoroughly confused, sits next to him and rubs his shoulder while he cries.
“Can you tell me what’s going on?” She asks. “Because I would really like to know why someone stabbed you. Are you safe?”
Is he? Does it matter? He has to go back to the prison anyways.
[Dream] do you know when you can try again
He sighs, runs his hands over his face. “I’ve gotta go, Puffy, thanks.”
She grabs his hand, flicks off some more dried blood- how much did he lose, god- and frowns. “At least let me finish here.”
“No, but thank you.”
“Michael?”
He stops.
“My office is open whenever you need it, okay?”
He nods, even if it isn’t.
If she knew what he was going to do, she wouldn’t be this nice. It should sting a bit more than it does.
>
He stares at the messages. Dream has sent five more, throughout the course of the day, keeps asking.
He thinks of what Quackity said.
Dream can’t be manipulating him.
He can’t.
No one on this goddamn server gave him the fucking time of day until he got injured. Until he was visibly suffering.
Except Dream. Dream reached out to him, is nice to him, cares for him.
He needs to get him out. Michael is so excited to see him.
He piles up the blocks from the prison in his house. It’s a sign. A promise.

like waves, you pulled me in.

"Eat up, lovely."
This had to be a dream. With how her head was throbbing or the way every corner of the room looked a tad bit blurry, there was a huge probability that Lumine was either dreaming or completely losing it. Yes, perhaps it was just the latter, which was why she was having hallucinations of Childe, eleventh harbinger of the fatui, wearing an apron in her room.
She blinked at him twice.
"Still sleepy, huh? Should I give you a kiss to wake you up?"
Great. The Childe in her hallucination was as punchable as the real one.
Her eyes dropped to the bowl of Adeptus Temptation he placed on her bed, the savory aroma of fresh seafood and spices hitting her nose, making her mouth water. It looked as if it belonged to Xiangling's best dishes and if Lumine's mind wasn't such in a haze, she would've gulped the whole thing in one go.
There was just no way the man sitting in front of her, firstly, was really here and secondly, was the one who made the appetizing stew just as he claimed.
She gave her legs under the blanket a pinch.
The sting made her bite her lip.
Archons, this was real. She wasn't sure if that was to her liking or not.
"If you stare at that for too long it might get shy and run off."
"What exactly are you doing here, Childe?" She almost didn't recognize her own voice from how dry it sounded.
"Way to treat your awesome nurse for today, lovely." He said teasingly as he moved to the near table to pour some water. "Here."
She took the glass in his hand. Ignoring the beat her heart skipped as her hands brushed with his warm ones, she finished the whole glass in a couple of gulps. Lukewarm water slid through her throat with ease. Never in her life had she thought of missing the non existent taste of water.
"Good?" He sat by her again, closer this time.
"Yes, thank you. But you didn't answer my question."
He let out a chuckle, grabbing back the glass in her hands. "I'm here to take care of you, obviously."
"What do you mean? I'm perfectly fine." A throb in her head went a little harder than normal, almost making her wince.
"Oh? So why did you pass out near a waypoint earlier then?"
"I–"
So that was what happened. Just moments ago, she woke up to the warmth of her bed in the Inn she was staying at in Liyue. She was supposed to meet Childe for their weekly sparring sessions after her long... mission. Lumine couldn't really remember traveling to said Inn.
The last thing she could call to mind was an image of blue eyes filled with worry, accompanied by an alarmed voice calling out her name and the feeling of strong, lean arms lifting her from the ground with ease.
Lucky for her she was already burning up or else he would've noticed the tint of pink growing on her cheeks.
"Don't worry, lovely–" The nickname didn't help her either. "I called a doctor to check on you earlier, said you just have a common cold. The fainting was probably caused by stress or lack of sleep– Hey, what are you doing?"
Lumine tried to move the bed table so she could free her feet from the blanket. "Going to do my mission." She shivered once a leg was out. It was peak noon.
The bastard cleared his throat after accidentally letting out a snort. "You're not going anywhere in that condition. Paimon's already talking to Katheryne, she'll cover your commissions for today." His hand went to put the covers back on her.
"I'm not talking about Adventurers' Guild."
"Hmm? Then which mission is it?"
Curious eyes landed on her tired ones. She hesitated. It wasn't like she didn't trust Childe, she'd let him hold his hydro sword by her neck for all she cared. He was a friend first and foremost before a harbinger. Putting more of her baggage on him was the last thing she wanted to do. He had accompanied her in a lot of commissions, thrown enough mora, beat up enough hilichurls for her. It was about time for her to stop relying on him for she didn't really need most of his help in the first place.
Although, having him around was refreshing in a way. She didn't mind his company. Not one bit.
"It's... Nothing important."
"Then it could wait until you're better, yeah?"
A defeated sigh. "Right. Why do you have to be my pseudo nurse, though? Don't you have work?"
"I got nothing to do today, lovely. I'm all yours. Besides, Paimon asked me to stay with you specifically. She was really excited about it too for some reason."
Lumine suddenly had the urge to put the little guide in a burning pot. She knew she should've kept the strange feelings Childe was giving her to herself until she exploded. One moment he was the most annoying person to ever exist, the next he was giving her stomach fluttering sensations she hadn't experienced before. Asking Paimon of all people about what these feelings could possibly mean was her first mistake.
"Paimon thinks you have a crush!" She squealed.
"I have a what now?"
Childe's voice interrupted the Paimon recipe she was planning in her head. "All you have to do today is rest, alright? I think your fever has gone down a little bit after your nap but–"
The spaces between them were already so small, it would be easy for his hands to reach her forehead, which she assumed what he was about to do. Until he moved closer and closer. He cupped her cheeks gently and she stiffened.
It was softer than she thought, his hand. She almost indulged to his touch. Childe leaned forward, their faces were then close enough to the point where she could feel his breath on her lips.
She could only hope he couldn't hear how hard her heart was beating right then.
Were his eyelashes always this long? Were his eyes always this blue? At that moment, she wanted nothing more but to explore those ocean eyes of his, wanting to know what the world was like in his point of view.
Archons, help her. The strange feeling in her stomach was back.
His forehead rested on hers and she shut her eyes. He let out a knowing hum. "You're still burning up, a little warmer than earlier too." The man finally pulled away. She wasn't sure why disappointment weighed in her chest at the lost of his touch. "This fever of yours is intense."
Oh, it was definitely not the fever.
"I'll go get your medicine. Have some spoonful of this stew first. I didn't put poison in that, I promise." He gave her a reassuring smile before getting to his feet. She watched him walk out of the room as her heart continued to thump on her chest loudly as if it was about to break out.
It was rare for Paimon to be right.
Lumine was convinced this was one of those occasions.
-
Her brother was walking away.
"Aether!" She tried calling him, but the sound might've got lost in the pitch black void they were in for his feet didn't stop moving.
She was running then yet she still couldn't seem to catch up to him. No matter how fast or slow she moved, he remained out of reach. The distance just kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger.
No, please. Don't leave.
"Aether, come back!" Her voice trembled, tears stinging her eyes.
Aether's voice echoed in the void. "You've come too late, Lumine."
The moonlight by the window welcomed Lumine's eyes fluttering open. She blinked away the tears blurring her vision, giving her a clear sight of the ceiling and the rest of the room.
A dream. A realistic, horrendous dream that was.
She took a second to take a couple of deep breaths, steadying herself. She was fine, everything was fine. Her brother was still out there, he was alive, she still hadn't found him but there was already a lead.
A lead that took her nowhere even after searching non stop for more clues these past few weeks.
Her chest tightened. A sob came out of her as tears started flooding her eyes again.
"Lumine?" She was so lost in her own world that she didn't even notice the person lifting his head up from the edge of the bed. The moment he saw her in that state, Childe was immediately by her side. "What's wrong? Are you hurting somewhere?"
The genuine concern in his voice would've made her heart feel warm if it weren't being torn to pieces by her own thoughts.
"N- No." She managed to say while sitting up. He guided her back, worried her trembling arms couldn't support herself. A damp towel fell from her forehead and he caught it before it even landed on the bed.
Memories of someone wiping her neck and face with said towel while she was sleeping, relieving the heat her body was radiating suddenly flashed through her mind.
"Then what's the matter?" The warmth of his hand enveloped hers, rubbing his thumb against her knuckles delicately. "Tell me. Please."
There were bags under his eyes. They've always been there, but tonight they seemed more prominent than usual. What time was it? She couldn't tell, but Lumine had been seeing herself in the mirror for the past few weeks, she knew what someone who haven't had a blink of sleep looked like.
She probably interrupted him from his nap just moments ago too. Being a pseudo nurse shouldn't be taken seriously, but she should've expected nothing less from someone who committed to the act of being a regular toy seller just so he wouldn't ruin his brother's innocence.
Putting others, especially his family, before himself. Perhaps they weren't too different.
With that, she found her voice again. "I had a nightmare. My brother, he– I couldn't catch up to him. He told me I've come too late." She said in between sobs.
Holding her cheeks gently, Childe wiped the tears running down her face. "It's okay, lovely. A dream doesn't reflect what's happening in reality."
"But what if it does? Paimon and I received information that could help our search just a few weeks ago. I've been traveling to all these different places, just looking and looking for more leads but I've been met with nothing but dead ends. What if it's because Aether's not here anymore? What if he's–"
She was pulled into a tight embrace before she could even finish the horrifying implication.
The seaside had always been so calming. Waves creating harmonious splashes, the sand hugging her feet, and that fresh scent. Childe provided that same comfort, like an ocean wave washing all her bad thoughts away. Lumine buried her face on his chest, letting herself drown in him.
His hand soothed her hair. "So you've just been looking without a hint of rest these past few weeks?"
She gave a weak nod.
This side of Childe wasn't unfamiliar, of course. Though, she wondered if holding people when they were feeling down was a habit of his.
And if it was possible for him to hold her closer.
A chuckle. "You were really planning to face your brother all restless and sick? I don't think he'd be too happy to see you faint once you find him." He held her tighter as if hearing her wish. "And I know you will."
He said those words so sincerely, so confidently that it made the tension in her body disappear slowly.
They stayed close like that for a while. Just the hero of Teyvat and her savior for the night in comforting silence by the moonlight.
It was incredible how easy it was for her to break down her walls when it came to him, how it felt like the weight of the world wasn't on her shoulders whenever he was there, how his laugh and random stories alone could erase all her worries, how she could just be a lost girl missing her brother instead of a powerful traveler in his arms.
"You're a strange pseudo nurse." She broke the silence first. "But thank you. I'll continue my search tomorrow. Though, we could still have our sparring session, how does afternoon sound?"
Pulling away, he beamed at her hopeful smile. "I'd like that. Only if your fever is fully gone tomorrow."
"I don't think I have it anymore right now."
"I'll be the judge of that." Once again, he pressed his forehead onto hers, closing his eyes.
Moments passed and he still haven't said a word. She debated whether she should tell him or ask if she was still burning up.
Lumine just ended up getting lost in his touch, letting the waves crash against the shore, fresh water hitting her skin as it washed away the burning sand.

*gently places request for kaeya trying to hide sickness/allergies around diluc?*
i took this request and went “ah yes, just a fic with Diluc and Kaeya, nice and simple, i could probably write like 800 words for this and be done” but then Venti and Jean materialized into the fic just for two very specific jokes, and who was I, someone who operates on rule of funny, to deny them, and soon enough this was 1.7k words-
anyways this may not be exactly what you wanted but like. please take it anyways.
It had been a long day.
Jean had politely asked Diluc to accompany her, Venti, and Kaeya out on a mission to investigate a reported monster sighting. Of course, since things could never be easy, there just had to be an abyss mage hanging around. Admittedly, the four of them together had made very short work of defeating it, although Diluc had noticed that, annoyingly enough, Venti and Kaeya had done nearly no damage to it. The two of them were probably distracted with coming up with some scheme to amuse themselves, and Diluc would probably get the short end of the stick if he involved himself in it.
This idea was even more so cemented when Venti said he was "tired" and that they should "rest here for the night" instead of walking all the way back to Mondstadt. That was definitely weird, and the glances Venti kept throwing Kaeya didn't help ease Diluc's suspicions that the two of them were planning something. Jean either didn't seem to notice or didn't care, as she agreed with Venti's request to set up camp, and started building a small campfire, requesting Diluc to light it.
They spent at least 20 minutes in silence after that, other than Venti playing a soft tune on his lyre.
Jean yawned.
"You should go to bed." Diluc said, "You worked hard today, we don't need you pushing yourself too hard."
"Mm, you're right." Jean said, standing up to go and do just that. "We don't need anyone getting sick before we get back to Mondstadt."
Unnoticed behind them, Kaeya choked on the water he'd been drinking, triggering a coughing fit. Venti patted his back comfortingly, while looking at Diluc and Jean with the most exasperated expression. Not that either of them noticed.
Instead, Jean simply went to bed, while Diluc went back to sitting down and quietly tending to the fire. He didn't spare Venti or Kaeya a second glance.
---
A whole day.
Venti had been putting up with this for a whole day.
He, of course, had figured out rather easily that Kaeya was sick. The knight covered up well, but for a god it was rather easy to tell.
(That, and it wasn't like the winds didn't leave him knowing every single secret anyways...)
So he knew. Oh, he knew.
He had been going to tell Diluc and Jean immediately, but Kaeya had stopped him, quietly offering up some high quality wine in exchange for Venti's silence.
If Venti had known how much trouble it would've been, he never would've agreed.
At first it was fine, Venti distracting Diluc and Jean whenever Kaeya had to turn away to stifle a sneeze into complete silence. (Venti knew that couldn't be good for him, but he really wasn't one to talk, so he let it be.)
It was when Kaeya started getting worse that he started to worry.
Especially when they had to fight the abyss mage.
Venti had tried to cover for Kaeya's sloppy, feverish movements, but by consequence it led to Jean and Diluc having to do most of the work. He winced at the glare Diluc had sent him for that, before he turned his attention back to making sure the Calvary Captain wasn't going to pass out.
The heat he could feel radiating off of the cyro user when he fell back to walk in time with him was anything but good.
That was when Venti had called for them to make camp, a call which Kaeya had clearly appreciated, sitting down as soon as he could.
His condition had clearly deteriorated over the course of the day, he was only just barely keeping up his 'cool' composure. He looked like a mess, and Venti was quite frankly shocked that neither Diluc nor Jean had picked up on it yet. Although, then again, they could just be accounting it to the earlier fight....
After the brief coughing fit from Jean's, unknowingly ironic, comment before she went to bed, Venti had thought that Diluc would've of clued in, or at the very least questioned him.
Instead he sat in silence.
Venti spent a few minutes glancing between Diluc and the, now subtly sniffling, Kaeya, before he decided that enough was enough.
Barely thinking things through, Venti directed the winds to blow some smoke right into Kaeya's face.
The effect was immediate.
"Hi'NGTsh-iu!" Kaeya barely managed to stifle the sneeze into his arm, but compared to the quiet of before it was very noticeable. "HiH- H'NTCH-uu!"
"...Are you alright?" Diluc asked, and Venti barely managed to keep himself from yelling 'Finally!'. Kaeya sniffled, the back of his hand still pressed against his nose.
"I'm fine- hiH! H'NGTCHi! S-sorry I just- hEh! E-excuse me for a moment-" Kaeya said, suddenly standing up, stumbling a little as his breath hitched, before turning and walking out of the camp, and into the forest, Venti and Diluc silently watching him go.
"..Well?" Venti asked, after a moment. "Aren't you going to go after him?"
"Why should I go after him?" Diluc asked, with an annoyed tone of voice, but it did nothing to hide his obvious concern.
"Because he's your brother and you're worried about him?" Venti said, laying out the obvious. "Besides, Jean is asleep, and I've got...something else I have to do. So... go on then. Oh, also take this, he might need it."
Venti summoned and threw a blanket at Diluc, which he caught effortlessly. Diluc gave Venti a glance, clearly wondering about what in the world Venti needed to do, but still he did not argue, standing up and walking in the direction Kaeya had.
---
It didn't take long to find him.
Kaeya was sitting on the ground, back against a tree, catching sneeze after sneeze in his hands. The temperature around him had dropped considerably, and Diluc gave a slight shudder as he felt the chill, suddenly very grateful for his jacket.
Kaeya's sneezing fit seemed to be starting to come to an end, the sneezes growing more spaced out, and Diluc noticed there were faint bits of frost starting to gather around Kaeya himself. Diluc sighed as he dropped the blanket down on top of Kaeya's head.
Kaeya must have not heard him approach, as he startled, looking up at him, the blanket sliding off his head to settle around his shoulders. Probably instinctively, Kaeya pulled the blanket closer around himself as he shivered.
"You're sick." Diluc stated. Kaeya avoided looking him in the eye.
"Am not." He muttered, before his breath hitched yet again- "HiH- H'ISCHI-uu!"
"Jeez. You sound horrible." Diluc said, and Kaeya gave a smirk that held none of it's usual 'smug' effect due to the condition he was in.
"Aw Diluc, are you concerned about me?~" Kaeya asked. Diluc didn't bother with an answer.
"I'm telling Jean." Is what he said instead, turning around and starting to walk away.
"No, wait-" Kaeya started, standing up, before his breath caught, and he started coughing, leaning against the tree for support. Diluc quickly hurried back to his side, quietly hovering, not sure how to react.
"...How long have you been sick?" He asked, once Kaeya's coughing fit had died down.
"I'm not sick." Kaeya said, voice weaker than before. Diluc didn't look impressed.
"Don't lie to me." He said.
".....Since yesterday." Kaeya whispered, and Diluc had to resist the urge to punch him.
"Yesterday? Okay, I was kind of joking about telling Jean before, but now-" He said, starting to walk back towards the camp. Kaeya quickly scurried after him.
"C'mon, there's no need to tell her, she's sleeping, and I ca-haH.....can handle it- hIH! H'ISSCHU!"
"You do realize you are being incredibly unconvincing." Diluc said as they reentered the campsite, plainly referring to the way Kaeya had the blanket drawn around him, as well as the now constant sneezing,. "Seriously, neither I nor Jean would hesitate to carry you back to Mondstadt if necessary."
"Don't forget about me!" Venti said, startling the both of them as he suddenly appeared out of nowhere, holding some mint plants in one hand. "I'd carry you too! I'm stronger than I look, y'know."
"...What's with the mint?" Kaeya asked.
"Oh this? I thought I'd make some mint tea, it might help clear you up a little. You sound pretty congested." Venti said, already pulling out the proper materials to mash the leaves.
"...Do I really sound that bad?" Kaeya asked, wincing when Venti and Diluc both nodded yes. Diluc moved Kaeya until he was once again sitting down where he had been before, and Venti pulled out a tea pot.
"Wha-where did- have you been carrying that the whole time?" Diluc asked, gesturing to the teapot. Venti did not give him an answer.
"Master Diluc, if you would ever so kindly adjust the temperature of the fire?" He asked instead.
"...What do you think I am, a stove?" Diluc quietly mumbled, but still complied, using his vision to adjust the campfire's temperature to be perfect for tea making. In just a few minutes, Kaeya had a cup of warm tea in his hands. He quietly sipped at it while Venti pulled out his lyre and started playing again, leaving Diluc to clean up the materials he had used to make the tea.
The steam tickled Kaeya's nose, that and the sudden freshness brought on by the mint made his breath hitch, and he hurriedly held the cup away from him with one hand while he used his other arm to-
"H'iSSCH-iu! hEH- H'ITCHHI-uu!"
"What's going on?"
The three of them jumped as Jean suddenly spoke. They turned to see that she had woken up, slowly getting out of her makeshift sleeping bag.
"This fool," Diluc said, pointing at Kaeya. "Has been sick since yesterday, and didn't bother to tell us."
"I keep telling you I can handle it-" Kaeya started, quickly shutting up as Jean laid a hand against his forehead, checking his temperature. She tsk'ed, not at all pleased with what she had found.
"You're burning up." She said, crossing her arms and, altogether, looking very disappointed. "Why didn't you say anything?"
Kaeya didn't respond, pointedly not looking at her as he took another sip of his tea.
"He didn't want to worry you." Venti said, casually plucking another string on his lyre as he feigned indifference. Diluc scoffed at that, while Jean just gave a sigh.
"As soon as we get back to Mondstadt, you sir, are going to bed." She said, lightly booping Kaeya's nose as she said it to emphasize her point, although this had the unintended side effect of making him quickly turn away, ducking his head into his arm to catch yet another sneeze.
"Hi'SCHI-uu!"

It’s been three days since the news of Yuji’s death reached you. To be honest, you’ve been a mess. Megumi has been as helpful as possible, cooking for you, tending to whatever needs you had. You’re more than grateful, and he is more than willing to help.
“(y/n), are you hungry?” Megumi asks, leaning against the doorframe.
“Mm a little bit.”
“I can make you something if you’d like, unless you’d rather order takeout.”
“I’m fine with whatever.” You say paying little attention to what he’s saying due to your inability to focus on anything. He notices your far away demeanor and settles on deciding for you.
“ok, then I’ll be back in a bit.”
“ok.”
Megumi’s eyes linger on your broken expression. He shared in your grief, and he understood that Yuji was very important to you and his death is affecting you intensely. He made his way to the school kitchen. A loud female voice pulling him out of his thoughts.
“Oi what are you doing?”
“Kugisaki. I’m making (y/n) something to eat.”
“What are you making?” She asks, walking over to the counter Megumi was standing behind.
“Itadori taught me how to make meatballs and I remember them mentioning that they like them so.”
“Need any help?” Nobara asks, tying her hair back away from her face, ready to help Megumi with his cooking endeavor.
“Sure, it’ll take less time then.”
Megumi and Nobara began working on the meatballs, carefully following the recipe that Yuji had taught.
You sat on your bed staring out the window, patiently waiting for the food Megumi would soon bring. However, your mind was elsewhere. Thoughts of Yuji flooded your mind.
Could you have stopped him from going?
No, he had to go. There’s nothing you could have done to stop him. He wanted to save everyone, even if it cost him his life and in the end, it did. The more you thought about him, the more your heart hurt. A knock at the door momentarily broke you from your grieving.
— find you - nick jonas —
“Come in.”
A tall figure walks into the room, a smile plastered across their face.
“Maki? do you need something?”
“Not really, just came to check on you. Megumi is currently slaving away in the kitchen making something for you and he said you were alone so I thought I’d keep you company.“ She responds, another smaller figure emerging from behind her.
“Salmon.”
“Oh, Inumaki you’re here too.”
“Tuna tuna.”
You giggle at his choice of words, still not used to the onigiri ingredients speech he tends to use.
“So do you have a curse?” She asks.
Do I have a curse.
Well if you count all the unfortunate events that seem to happen in your life, then yes, you had a curse. But you knew that’s not what she was talking about.
“No I don’t.” You respond.
“Well I don’t either, so we’re in the same boat.”
You give her a confused look.
“Wait, then how are you a sorcerer?”
“I use weapons imbued with cursed energy and my glasses help me see the curses I’m fighting. If I’m being honest (y/n), I came here to ask if you wanted to train with us, for the Kyoto exchange.”
Your confused expression turned into an absolutely bewildered one.
“No no I couldn’t, it’s only a month away, that’s not enough time for me to learn anything. Anyways I’m supposed to be keeping a low profile, I’m not supposed to be here. So there’s no way I could fight in a school wide event.”
“Well, we could train you in secret and then present you to Principal Yaga, he can give a placement test and if you pass you’ll be able to fight with us.”
“Salmon.”
You contemplate the suggestion carefully. Could you even become mediocre enough to fight alongside them? Well it’s worth a shot.
“I’ll do it.”
For Yuji.
“Alrighty then, we’ll get started tomorrow.” She says with an amused smirk.
“What starts tomorrow?” Megumi asks, walking into the room with two bowls and two sets of chopsticks. Nobara is trailing behind him carrying a large pot.
“I’m going to teach (y/n) how to use cursed tools so she can participate in the exchange.” Maki says.
“Is that enough time for them to learn? The Kyoto students are no joke.” Megumi responds.
“I’m sure they’ll be fine.” Maki says winking at you. Inumaki exits with her leaving you three to eat your dinner.
Megumi directs Nobara over to the small table located in the center of the room. She places the pot on a small mat and opens it up. The familiar aroma fills your nose.
“Are those meatballs?!”
“Yeah come eat, Kugisaki made some ramen as well.”
“It’s my special ramen recipe, you’ll definitely like it (y/n)!”
You smile at the pair sitting before you. Oh how lucky you were to have such caring people in your life. They make this difficult time a little bit easier. You drop yourself onto the floor next to the table and Megumi hands you a pair of chopsticks. Kugisaki grabs one of the bowls and serves some of the ramen and places it in front of you.
“Ittadakimasu.” You say, more than ready to dig into the food your friends so carefully prepared for you.
“(y/n) try this.” Megumi says a meatball in between his chopsticks, which are sitting right in front of your face. You lean forward and bite into it, Megumi’s hand sitting underneath your chin in case you spill. Your eyes widen.
“This tastes just like Yuji’s!”
“I’m glad you think so, he taught me how to make them a little while ago and I remember you saying you liked them.”
Your expression softened as you stared deep into Megumi’s eyes. Both sets of eyes full of care towards the other, a small smile playing across each face.
“Bleh, save it for when you’re alone you two.” Nobara says, forcefully making her presence known.
You turn away from him, a light blush tinting your cheeks. The three of you sit and eat in comfortable silence, simply enjoying each other’s presence.
Although, it did feel too quiet. You secretly hoped Yuji would burst through the door with a big smile and break the silence with a verbal sledgehammer. You missed his loud voice, his energy, his bravery, his hugs, his hands, his lips. You shake your head.
What were those thoughts about? Since when did you miss the way he felt?
You feel a hand land on yours jolting you slightly. You turn your head and see Megumi’s hand half clasped around yours, rubbing his thumb across your flesh.
“You’re crying (y/n), are you ok?”
Crying?
You touch your face and feel a dampness sitting on your cheek. When did you start crying?
Megumi lets go of your hand and wipes your cheek with the back of his. His hand lingers on your cheek and you lean into his warm touch.
I like the way his hands feel too, I wonder what his lips feel like...
“I’ll wash up the dishes” Nobara says, standing and collecting all the dirty bowls scattered across the table.
— streets - doja cat —
She exits the room, leaving you and Megumi alone. His hand finds his way back to yours, as he mindlessly scrolls through his phone. You lean your head onto his shoulder, wrapping your arm around his. He turns and gives you a soft kiss on your temple. His lips felt soft and warm. You wanted to feel them again.
“We should sleep. It’s getting pretty late.” He says, his face mere inches away from yours.
“Will you..stay next to me...just until I fall asleep.” You hesitantly ask.
“Sure.” He responds with a sweet smile. He smiles more often now, but only when he’s with you. As if, he only wants you to see him smile. As if his smile belonged to you.
“You can take a shower first.” He says, as he reaches his hands out to you pulling you up from the ground and into his arms. You let go of him and make your way over to the closet. You grab some pajamas and your shower stuff and walk into the bathroom. You take a quick shower, desperate to sleep this awful day away. You walk out of the bathroom, a towel around your neck, protecting your clothes from the water that drips from your hair. Megumi walks behind you, taking the towel off of your shoulders. He drops it back on top of your head, and begins gently massaging your hair.
“You don’t have to Megumi, I could have done it myself.” You say, a soft blush painting your cheeks.
“It’s fine, I wanted to do it anyway.” He responds, His fingers expertly rubbing your damp hair. His gentle movements slowly put you to sleep, and you catch yourself leaning back onto his chest. He throws the towel into the laundry bin and picks you up bridal style carrying you to your bed. You’re too exhausted to try and stop him, so you allow yourself to melt into his hold. He places you on your bed and gets into it himself. He keeps himself above the covers, giving you space so you can feel his presence without feeling uncomfortable. You slowly drift off to sleep.
You wake up when you feel the bed move. Your eyes open slightly catching Megumi sitting on the edge of your bed, ready to go to his own. You reach over and lightly tug on the edge of his shirt, getting his attention.
“Where are you going?” You ask, your voice groggy and strained.
“Back to my bed, I thought you were asleep.” He responds, brushing his soft fingers across your cheek.
“...Stay.”
He looks at you with a faint shocked expression.
“I don’t want to make you uncomfortable. I’m only a few feet away you could-“
“Stay.” You say, cutting him off mid sentence. He gives in, and lays back down on the bed next to you.
“Are you cold?” You ask.
“No I’m ok.” He says.
You know he’s lying. He’s actively shaking next to you, and he thinks you won’t notice? Nice try Megumi.
“Get under the covers, you’re shaking.”
He gives you a questioning look, making sure you actually know what you’re saying.
“You sure?”
“Yes Megumi I’m sure.”
He sits up once again, pulling the blankets up and over himself. You slot yourself next to him, facing his back. You subconsciously wrap an arm around him, placing your chin comfortably on his shoulder. Your breath tickles his ear, causing him to smile ever so slightly. He intertwines your hands and enjoys the warmth radiating from your body.
He wakes up early the next morning, your legs tangled together and your lips dangerously close to his. He must have turned in his sleep. He sets his smooth hand on your still sleeping face, running his thumb across the apple of your cheek.
“Cute.”

The Stone’s Toll - Chapter Eleven
Tumblr media
Read on AO3
They had been so careful. On the supposedly most fertile days of her courses, they had, well they had done other things. She religiously took her vial of posies and fennel each day and used the protection provided from her twentieth-century life. For months now. Still, it wasn’t enough, and she knew the only one hundred percent assured prevention was abstinence. She felt the ghost of a flutter in her womb.
Jamie found Claire on the floor next to their bed, her cheeks stained with tracks of tears and snot crusted against the deer pelt that her face was squished into. The chamber pot full of her sickness had been shoved away from her on the wood in her dejected anger.
“Is it true Claire?”
“Can ye..” he swallowed thickly. “Yer wee herbs can ye-“
“No, that’s the last thing I want Jamie! God!” Her palms rubbed into her eye sockets. “I just wish- there wasn’t so much uncertainty. I could never survive- Jamie promise me, if it ever came down to it, you would save the child, not me.”
“Claire,“ he levelled a determined gaze at her. ”That will never happen. Ever. That I will promise ye.”
“But it might. You made me promise, should the time come, that I’d go through the stones. Of course, I was reluctant, but I did give you that promise. I followed through on it. Now you promise me.”
“Aye Claire, I’ll save the bairn, but it’ll no’ come to that.”
“I’m going to instruct you. On how to help me. No matter if it goes wrong or the delivery is perfect.”
“Ye wouldna prefer someone else? A woman?”
“You’re the only one that I would trust.” She smirked in anticipation of her next words. “And you’re the one who did this to me, you can see it through.”
“Ye seemed pretty enthusiastic, if not overly pleased the many times I did that to ye. And I seem to recall the many times ye were the one clawing at me.”
She laughed at the big goof and then sighed into his embrace, relieving her stress and worry into him.
What if the baby never even made it long enough to make its true presence known? What if Jamie did have to follow through in his presence? Would she be able to survive the birth? She’d never given birth to a live, full-term baby yet. Or, even worse, would she be a terrible mother? When her mind drifted to these thoughts, she shook her head out of the daze. Stress wasn’t good for the baby. And if she constantly worried about her child’s health, her thoughts may very well become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
It was March, and flowers and trees were slowly crawling out of their hibernation. Claire’s pregnancy felt… off from how she carried Faith. It didn’t raise alarm for her baby’s health, but she did have her suspicions.
“What is it Sassenach? Ye’re smiling so hard I fear yer lips will fall off.”
“Well, I have been a bit… bigger than usual.”
“Aye, yer round wi’ my bairn. And I’m no’ complaining one bit. Wi’ yer fine plump arse even bigger than usual.” He grasped a healthy amount of said body part and smirked.
“Well, I think I’m carrying twins.”
“Ifrinn!” All the colour drained from his face. “Two bairns? Two bairns! Sassenach!” He gripped her in his arms as joyous laughter rumbled through his chest and her feet left the floor. More words of love in his native language rumbled out and her eyes crinkled with her smile.
When she was absolutely sure it was twins, Jamie’s daily ritual of one kiss to her belly each morning and night turned into two kisses on either side of her stretched skin.
Not only did one life depend on her at once, but now two. She was terrified. Even with constant reassurance from Jamie that the bairns kicking in her stomach were braw, a twitch of doubt seeped into her mind.
To ease her worry, she thought of something that could reassure her. She traced the design onto the back of a discarded pamphlet. A pinard horn. So Jamie could hear the strong heartbeats of the babies tumbling within her belly. Fergus laboured hard on the project immediately, while his ‘milord’ was off working the lands of their croft. It was expertly crafted, even with her rudimentary designs.
Jamie manoeuvred the hollow horn over the expanse of her belly, brow furrowed in concentration. He paused over one spot and nearly fainted.
“Ah Dhia!” His eyes widened in fascination. “He’s really in there!”
“Yes, they are.” She placed her hand over his on the pinard horn and slid it across where she thought she felt the other heartbeat to be.
His hands were shaky now and he choked on his tears, almost painfully bursting with joy. “Two braw bairns. Wi’ wicked thumping hearts.”
They felt more concrete to him now, actual people instead of the imaginations of what they could be. He spoke every day to them in Gàidhlig, when Claire said they should be able to hear now.
It was bittersweet. She was carrying them for over seven months now, longer than her other children. She was constantly caught between unflagging joy and unrelenting grief. Sometimes it felt like a betrayal to be so happy. But she carried through, with her husband and son by her side, and the promise of the future tucked under her heart.
The day after Jamie’s birthday, she started labouring. Jamie commented on the decency of his children to not eclipse his day with their own arrival. It was as difficult as any other birth, but thankfully there were no complications. Claire had gripped, clawed, and screamed at her husband. She’d scream the promise to have him castrated many, many times. While she paced around the room, Jamie tried to assure her or crack jokes to lighten the atmosphere, but every word he said she turned it against him. He was silent after that, but then Claire would call out for him as each contraction ripped through her body. He stood behind her squatting form above the straw and she dug her nails into his arms as she bore down. A beautiful squalling boy was born after nine hours of labouring. William Brian Beauchamp Fraser. While she felt distraught placing the name Brian within the middle, Jamie assured her it was to not only honour his father, but now the child that they had lost, and she warmed to the idea as well. His brother met the world soon after, almost a quarter of an hour apart, looking exactly the same as the brother who beat him out of the womb. Henry Alexander Murtagh Fraser. Beautiful healthy boys, both with tufts of the same brown downy hair and slanted Fraser cat eyes.
They opted to have their sons sleep in their bed that night rather than the cribs Jamie had carved, tucked in securely between their parents. Neither of them could sleep and Claire was watching the steady rise and fall of each small chest.
“They’re real.” She whispered, brushing her pinky across William’s cheek. His lips tugged up into a smile, just like his father’s did.
“Thanks to ye Claire. Ye were braw.” He squeezed her hand, their arms hovering over their sons. “But I dinna wish to ever see ye like that again.”
“Is it wrong to feel so happy? To rejoice in my sons while-?”
“They’ll be happy fer their brothers. I ken it. And they’re watching o’er them as their angels now. Lord knows how much these lads will need it. These two will be trouble, I can feel it.” He affectionately patted their bums.
Claire finally let her exhaustion take over and curled protectively around her son as she drifted off to sleep. Jamie never slept that night, too preoccupied with the sight of his wife and the children she had blessed him with. His wife learned just how real her sons were in the middle of the night when they would scream their lungs out unceasingly until attention was paid to them. Jamie insisted she rest and recover, and leapt up at every cry to take care of it, but was instantly horrified at what he found in the cloth swaddling Willie’s bum.
Fergus was elated the next day to meet his new brothers. Jamie and Claire had already spoken many times about how the new babies wouldn’t change anything about how they felt for him, but they could still sense some worry.
“Would you like to hold your little brother Willie?” At the indication that it was true, he had a little brother, all his worries vanished.
“Oui maman.” He was so gentle with them with so much adoration in his eyes, and it made Claire cry just to see her boys together.
He traded for Henry next and Jamie pulled Claire into his lap.
It was six weeks after the birth, and Jamie and Claire were equally ravenous. Both the babies had finally fallen asleep together, being unusually generous to their parents.
“I need my wife.” He crawled over her.
“You still want me? After seeing all that…?” Her confidence has waned slightly. She was still pudgy around the middle and there were new scars lining her belly. There was also the fact that he had seen her sweating, cursing, and wailing like a cow on their bedroom floor before the fire, and had taken multiple peeks down there to check her progress. It was apparent, however, that he wanted her desperately despite of and maybe even because of that fact.
“I could never stop wanting ye Sassenach.” He peppered kisses across her abdomen and paid special attention to the fading purple streaks on her skin. The burns on her stomach had long since faded and were barely even noticeable unless one were to look very closely, as her husband was now. She let her knees fall to the side and a moan escaped her lips when he ducked further down.
“Now, as much as I love yer wee noises mo nighean donn, ye’ll have to be quiet tonight.” He covered her mouth with his, silencing the cries that he brought out of her body.
When they both had finished, laying boneless on the sheets, Jamie pulled Claire’s back close to his chest and she curled back into him. Henry began to cry, waking his brother as well and throwing them both into fits of hungry wails. Jamie silently walked over, wrapping his kilt loosely across his hips and placed a baby in each of his arms. The sight made Claire want to ravish him with a sudden ferocity, even though they had just joined together moments ago. But, her babies’ hunger won over and she placed one on each breast. Jamie watched fascinated, as he always did. The babies hungrily gulped down their meal and then slumped against their mom, tired from weeks of growing, crying, and eating. Their tiny fists laid on top of her skin and Jamie slowly adjusted himself to hold Henry. He fell asleep, Henry’s body rising and falling with each of his father’s breaths. Willie stirred again, inquisitively staring up into his mother’s eyes. Claire stroked Henry’s cheek eliciting the same smile she loved so much, and then reached for Jamie’s as well.
“God, I love you, Jamie. So much.” Her attention shifted down to the babe on her breast. “You have such a wonderful father, don’t you Willie?” She spoke down to her captive audience. “And I love you.” She kissed his small nose, then leaned over for Henry’s “And you.” She pulled on Jamie’s bottom lip. “And God how I love you.”
