*Just as a fun fact I was going to call it mon cœur en ligne, as mon cœur means my heart + can be used as an affectionate way to call someone but I had my doubts about the fic title being in french and the fic in English

Put the characters of Evangelion inside a car and have them do a road trip?

For some reason, I feel like Asuka steals the car and now they're all on the run from their negligent fathers. They use Kaworu's credit card to buy stuff until they get cut off, and then they've got to resort to panhandling and crime to get where they're going (Disneyland, because they long for the childhood magic they lost so long ago). There are so many possibilities for shenanigans. Would Asuka or Rei be more likely to literally steal candy from a baby at a gas station?

Just brain rotting atm. I have to finish my final (planned) Eremika fic and then I want to try writing a couple original things, all of which take a lot of time. I also have a Twiyor thing I kind of want to do. But if inspiration strikes, it strikes. So who knows! I would certainly be delighted if an idea for a one shot or something struck and demanded to be written, because that's always so satisfying and I really love Shinji.

I was reading through your college au and I was very impressed with the detail of characterization! Seriously. I am really intrigued by this dynamic of Shinji and Asuka having a sorta fwb agreement for sex, while the level of their friendship and “what they are” is unclear. This, plus Asuka, Rei and Kaworu disliking each other despite all caring for Shinji in some form. Asuka is very territorial and possessive, “if I can't have you all to myself, then I don't want anything from you”. Shinji also doesn't want to let go of her, but she's in evident conflict with his other friends.

I'd love you explored more of this part of your au? (Part of me is hoping real hard for you to give them a happy ending here)

I think that what becomes the most interesting part of this dynamic is Shinji's pathological people pleasing and how he's going to deal with it because he quite literally cannot make everyone happy here. So what is he supposed to do? He deprioritizes his own wants and needs to where i'm not sure he's even aware of them, so he's trapped in this dilemma of who he's going to disappoint? He's going to feel backed into a corner and I suspect at that point he'll lash out. I'm not sure exactly what would go down, but it would result in a lot of hurt feelings all around. Shinji would be dealing with the conflicting feelings of relief that now everyone knows what a bad person he is (believes himself to be) and devastation that he hurt the people he loves. I mentioned before I think he'd drop out of school at least once before he graduates. I think this would be that time. He disappears off the face of the earth. I'm kind of stuck on where to go from there. Shinji runs away but he always gets dragged back somehow. So maybe he has a cello performance that he's still on the hook for. He shows up and Kaworu is there. He and Shinji talk and Shinji is like, "I can't make everyone happy!" Kaworu tells him that if he wants to make him happy, Shinji would do whatever he wants to do, which breaks Shinji's brain a little bit. He tries to find Rei and Asuka in succession so they can tell him what to do. Rei tells him to do whatever he wants and Asuka tells him to fuck off because she is still hurt and pushing him away.

Shinji does some soul searching and then one night Asuka hears a knock on her door and there he is. He's made his choice.

? Idk. I'm iffy on the last part from the cello concert on. It feels a little too easy. We could scruff it up a bit, but I think something along those lines would work.

Let's be honest college student Shinji would have the only truly clean room out of all his friends. Also the only one who cooks and cleans by himself. Rei lives in squalor. Asuka is just messy. Kaworu idk if he's a clean freak or if he's charmingly unorganized

I feel like Kaworu would live out of a suitcase simply for the aesthetic.

Rei's place has severe bachelor pad vibes. For furniture she has one camp chair, a mattress on the floor, and a shelf made out of bricks and cardboard. She does not have a lamp. She uses a flashlight to see after sundown. Her trashcan is a grocery bag hanging from a doorknob.

I feel like Asuka's main problem with mess is that she's a packrat. She has a system to keep it organized but she has so much junk that it takes just one thing being out of place to throw everything out of whack.

And yes, then there's Shinji, who ends up hosting all the time because he's the only one with a nice, clean room and he always fixes snacks when people come over.

About the college au. The following day, Shinji, Kensuke and Toji are together in class. Toji is talking about how he kissed Hikari at the end of the night while he was dropping her back home, romantic and cute. Toji thanks Shinji for “taking one for the team” for agreeing to a double date with “red devil” Asuka. Meanwhile Shinji is caffeinating himself awake after not sleeping a single second, having just spent the wildest most lascivious night of his life

Shinji doesn't even know what his own name is right now, much less who Toji means when he says "red devil". He just kind of smiles pleasantly and nods and makes a mental note to go get some Tiger Balm because every single one of his muscles is sore.

Asuka goes back to spend her summer in Germany with her family. While she is away, Shinji has his growth spurt. Asuka is by no means short, especially in comparison to Japanese girls, but it is a huge shock to her when she's back in Tokyo and Shinji is towering over her at over 6ft. Like, she turns her back on him for a second and he's suddenly a giant

She doesn't even recognize him when he goes along to pick her up. He goes up and confidently greets her and she's like, "fuck off. Who even are you?" Then he starts stammering because he's so bewildered by her reaction and that's when she recognizes him.

I think you mean the single parents au, where Eremika are each divorced but from other people? I just want to make sure you meant mine, because @strscrossed has an actual divorce au with Eremika being divorced from each other.

But if it's single parents you want, that I can definitely do! Read on for a snippet from chapter 2 (rough draft so subject to change).

"Why am I even telling you all this?" Eren said. "I'm sorry. I just…" He shook his head. 

She shot him a wry grin. “I’m used to it. I got married, had a kid, and got divorced before most of my social circle was even getting engaged. Everyone was always talking to me about this shit.” She rolled her eyes. “I don’t know why. I’m the last one anyone should get life advice from. But I guess I was the only one who had any first-hand experience.”

“Sorry,” said Eren. “I didn’t mean to do it to you again.”

"I don’t know. I kind of like it when it’s you," said Mikasa, sipping her drink, then running her fingertip around the rim of the can. "It feels like… It feels like nothing's really changed and I'm still bossing you around like I did when we were kids."

Eren turned his head just enough to look at her. She was already looking back at him, her eyes as lovely and clear as the twilight sky behind her. Her cheeks flushed when their gazes met and she cleared her throat, looking down at her seltzer, and he wondered if they were both thinking about all the time they had lost when she didn’t come back. 

“I don’t know about that,” he said, choosing not to dwell on it. For tonight, they were friends again. That’s what mattered. "I don’t remember you bossing me around."   

"I assure you. I did," said Mikasa. "I was always telling you what to do." A smile played across her lips. “Remember when you were going to run away to join the Power Rangers?”

Eren let his head drop back. “Oh, Jesus. Yes,” he said. “My mom loves to tell this story. You were telling me not to go while I packed, but I wouldn’t listen to you, so you chased me outside and punched me in the face to stop me. Mom heard me screaming and came outside and found me with a backpack full of fruit snacks and frozen chicken nuggets, and my nose was bleeding and you were just standing there staring at me, and as soon as you saw my mom you said, ‘Your son thinks the Power Rangers are real and he’s trying to run away and join them, Mrs. Jaeger. But I stopped him. Don’t worry.’ I was so mad at you.”

“See?” she said, cocking her head, her eyes twinkling. “Bossy.”

“But not wrong,” said Eren, holding up a finger.

"I've always wondered why your mom didn't get me in trouble with my parents for hitting you," Mikasa mused. 

"Oh," said Eren. "That's because that wasn't the first time I tried to run away and she was just happy you stopped me in time so that she didn't need to call the police to find me again."

Mikasa gaped at him. 

"I get what I put her through now that I have a kid," said Eren. “I live in terror that Adri’s going to be a pathological runaway like I was.”

Mikasa began to laugh. "I don't think I ever realized what a handful you were until now," she said. 

Eren started laughing, too. "That's probably because I actually listened to you," he said. "My dad used to call you the Eren tamer."

"What?" said Mikasa, shaking her head. "No, he didn't."

"He did. He said I always behaved better for you. And he was right."

"I don't believe it," Mikasa scoffed.

"It's true!" said Eren. 

"Really?" said Mikasa

Eren nodded, his face stretched into an exaggerated, self-effacing grimace. "'Fraid so."

Mikasa stared at him. "Why?"

"I don't know," Eren chuckled, sipping his seltzer. "I guess I just wanted to make you happy."

He really would be. Like, I imagine him being on the verge of a breakdown at any given moment. He would for sure drop out at least once before he finishes. I also feel like he would drop way more classes if not for fear of disappointing his professors.
